Your conscience can lead you in the wrong directions. The Bible says he that trusted in his own heart is a fool but whoso walketh wisely he shall be delivered. So trusting in your own heart instead of what the Bible says is wrong. You know the Bible says you're a fool if you do that. As far as renewing your mind the first thing you need to do in order to renew your mind is get saved and after you're saved you should make a conscious effort every day to put on the new man. The Bible says that you put off concerning the former conversation the old man which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust and be renewed in the spirit of your mind and that you put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. So it says that you should put on the new man. You know unsaved people don't have the new man they just have the natural man. The Bible says but the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God for they are foolishness unto him neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned. John 8 47 says he that is of God heareth God's words ye therefore hear them not because ye are not of God. People that are unbelievers and unsaved do not understand God's word. That's why people mock at the idea of God creating everything in six days about six thousand years ago. People that are saved hear it they believe it and understand it if they're walking in the new man. You know but the unsaved hear not the words of God that's what the Bible says. But even some saved people still cling to ideas and opinions that do not agree with the Bible because they are still hanging on to the old man. You need to put off the old man renew your mind and put on the new man. Now the only way to renew your mind is to open up your Bible and read it and this is something that needs to be done every day to combat all the false ideas that you are being bombarded with every day by the world. The world loves to fill your mind with garbage constantly. Clean it out with the word of God every day. The Bible says these were more noble than those in Thessalonica and that they received the word with all readiness of mind and searched the scriptures daily whether those things were so.
