Hi, this is Pastor Roger Jimenez from Verity Baptist Church in Sacramento, California. Today I'm making a video to answer the question, are guardian angels real? Let me begin by explaining what we mean by a guardian angel. A guardian angel is an angel that is assigned to protect a particular person or a group of people. That might include a church or a nation, a country, a kingdom. And when we ask the question, are guardian angels real, what we're really asking is, does the Bible teach the concept of a guardian angel? Years ago, if you would have asked me that question without thinking about it, I would have just said, no, that's made up and that's not real. But over the years as I've read the Bible, certain verses have popped out at me that seem to insinuate that the concept of a guardian angel may be real. I'd like to share those verses with you in this video. The first one is Psalm 34 in verse 7. The Bible says this, the angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him and delivereth them. Here we have a verse where the Bible says that the angel Lord is encamping round about. He is surrounding the people that fear Him, the people that fear the Lord. And His purpose is to deliver them, to help them, to guard them. In Matthew chapter 18 and verse 10, we have another verse. This is the Lord Jesus Christ speaking. He says, take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones, referring to children. He says, for I say unto you that in heaven, their angels do always behold the face of my Father, which is in heaven. Here Jesus is telling us that we should not despise these little ones. And the reason is that their angels do always behold the face of my Father. It's interesting that He says their angels as if they have an angel assigned to them. Another passage to consider would be Hebrews chapter 1 verses 13 and verse 14. Verse 13 kind of gives us the context. It says, but to which of the angels said He at any time, sit on my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool? And in verse 14, He says this, are they not all ministering spirits? So the they there is referring back to the angels. Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? The ones that are going to be heirs of salvation, those are believers. And here we're told that the angels are ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them. So those are three passages that you may want to consider when thinking about whether the concept of guardian angels are real. But I believe that it's very possible that guardian angels are real based on these passages and others that are found in scripture. I hope that was helpful to you.
