Now in John chapter 8 verse 39, Jesus is going back and forth with the unbelieving Jews, those that are not saved. And they answered and said unto him in verse 39, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God. This did not Abraham, ye do the deeds of your father. And said they to him, We be not born of fornication, we have one father, even God. Jesus said unto them, If God were your father, ye would love me. For I proceeded forth, and came from God, neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech, even because ye cannot hear my word? Ye are of your father, the devil. Now in this scripture, they're saying Abraham's our father. Jesus turns around and says, No, Abraham's not your father, because if Abraham were your father, ye would do the works of Abraham. He said, If God were your father, ye would love me. So he's very clearly telling them in this passage, Abraham is not your father, God is not your father, and he says, You are of your father, the devil. And who is he talking to? And they'll apply Genesis 12, 1 through 3, which is promises that were made to Abraham, and they'll say, That applies unto the Jews today, because they're the seed of Abraham.
