(Disclaimer: This transcript is auto-generated and may contain mistakes.) Hello everybody, it's minister tall23 back there video. This is another video on the basic doctrines of the Bible. In this video I want to talk about the subject of the New Covenant. So we believe also in the New Covenant which is also called in the Bible the New Testament and that is the formal agreement made between God and those which are saved who enter into this New Covenant upon placing their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Old Testament prophesied of this bringing in of the New Covenant in Jeremiah chapter 31 verse 31 to 34 it says behold the days come saith the Lord that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt which my covenant they break although I wasn't husband unto them saith the Lord but this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days saith the Lord I will put my law in their inward parts and write it in their hearts and I will be their God and they shall be my people and they shall teach no more every man his neighbor and every man his brother saying no the Lord for they shall all know me from the least of them unto the greatest of them saith the Lord for I will forgive their iniquity and I will remember their sin no more. The different aspects of the New Covenant are outlined in this passage in Jeremiah chapter 31. Firstly as stated in verse 34 those in the New Covenant have had their sins and iniquities forgiven and removed from them that's justification as we've talked about in previous videos. Second as also stated in verse 34 those in the New Covenant know the Lord and in verse 33 there's an inward writing of the law in the hearts of man which makes those in the Covenant the people of God so that's being born again as it's called the New Testament. Now the New Testament began at the death of Christ it says in Hebrews chapter 9 verse 15 to 17 and for this cause he is the mediator of the New Testament that by means of death for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the First Testament they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance for where a testament is there must also of necessity be the death of the testator for a testament is of force after men are dead otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth so the tester which is Jesus Christ he died on the cross and thus began the New Testament which has been a force to all those who have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ Jesus said when speaking of his blood in Matthew chapter 26 verse 28 for this is my blood of the New Testament which is shed for many for the remission of sins and without the death of Christ without the shedding of his blood there would not be this new covenant however that was the catalyst for the doing away of the Old Testament and the bringing in of the new one which is different from the old in several ways as we saw earlier in Jeremiah chapter 31 it says that this new covenant is not according to the covenant that's made at Mount Sinai that is that it's different from the old covenant in several ways and that the old covenant is done away with and replaced by the new it says in second Corinthians chapter three verse six to seven who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament not of the letter but of the spirit for the letter killeth but the spirit giveth life but if the ministration of death ridden and engraven in stones was glorious so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of moses for the glory of his countenance which lord was to be done away so the Old Testament that was according to the letter it's called the ministration of death it's not according to the spirit but the New Testament according to this passage is by the spirit as Jesus said we must worship God in spirit and in truth as we already spoke about in a previous video the Holy Ghost indwells believers in the New Testament that's a promise given only to those who were in this new covenant it's a promise that began when Jesus rose from the dead that's part of the reason why the scriptures say in Hebrews chapter 8 verse 6 but now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant which was established upon better promises not only this is this covenant in Christ's blood new but it is also better as well in Hebrews chapter 8 verse 13 it says in that he saith a new covenant he hath made the first old now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away we know from the scriptures that the old covenant made at Mount Sinai with the physical nation of Israel has been done away with and there is now a better covenant made in Christ's blood with believers in Christ who are called a holy nation in the bible and who are said to worship God in the spirit so since we worship God in the spirit it is taught that the carnal that means fleshly ordinances of the law of moses have been done away with as well in Hebrews chapter 9 verse 10 it says which stood only in meats and drinks and diverse washings and carnal ordinances imposed on them until their time of reformation now the word reformation means a change that makes something better the bringing in of this new and better covenant is the time of reformation meaning that the old testament ordinances concerning the things listed here meats drinks diverse washings and other things listed in the scriptures in colossians chapter 2 where it talks about the sabbath days the new moons and the holy days being done away with those things are no longer imposed upon us it says in ephesians chapter 2 verse 14 to 16 for he is our peace who hath made both one and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us having abolished in his flesh the enmity even the law of commandments contained in ordinances for to make in himself of twain one new man so making peace and that he might reconcile both unto god in one body by the cross having slain the enmity thereby therefore from the teaching of the scriptures we conclude that once somebody is saved by the blood of jesus christ through faith in the lord jesus christ they enter into an everlasting covenant with god which is according to the born again spirit this covenant is made with all believers rather than a single nation the conditions of the covenant is simply salvation and under this covenant the ordinances of the old testament are abolished so that's it for this video thank you everybody for watching and goodbye
