(Disclaimer: This transcript is auto-generated and may contain mistakes.) Hello everybody, it's MrTall23 back to our video. So before I get into the video, I want to do a quick sound check first to make sure that the sound is working. All right, so it is working. So in this video, I want to talk about the most wicked and destructive beverage in the history of mankind and what the Bible says about it. And of course, if you couldn't tell already from what the title of the video is, that would be alcohol. Whether it's wine or beer or vodka or whatever it is, it's a vile and disgusting thing which I hope all Christians out there watching this stay away from. The Bible says in Proverbs chapter 23 verse 29 to 35, who hath woe, who hath sorrow, who hath contentions, who hath babbling, who hath wounds without cause, who hath redness of eyes, they that tarry long at the wine, they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his color in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea thou shalt be as he that lieth down the midst of the sea, as he that lieth upon the top of a mass. They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick. They have beaten me, and I felt it not. When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again. Now this is a perfect description of an alcoholic drink, particularly alcoholic wine and what it does to alter the mind. First of all I want to point out the very clear command given in this text that we should obey. It says, look not thou upon the wine. That's pretty clear. For some reason a lot of Christians out there try to justify drinking alcohol and their foolish objections I will deal with later in this video. But the Bible clearly commands to not even look at it. It says don't look at it, you're not supposed to touch it, stay away from alcoholic wine. It doesn't say drink it, just do it in moderation as a lot of people say. You'll never find anything like that in the Bible. That's a modern idea. So what happens when you disobey that commandment? Well you'll have woe and sorrow and contentions and babblings and wounds without cause and breadness of eyes. Does that sound pleasant? Alcohol will ruin your life like it's done to so many people in the past. It will bring upon you woe. Now what is woe? Distress and misery. The Bible says woe unto the drunkards of Ephraim in Isaiah chapter 28. It's a declaration that there will be misery and distress and sorrow upon those who decide to consume that damnable beverage. What about contentions? That's arguing. Somebody who is a drunk continuously gets into fights. They get into verbal fights, arguments. But not just verbally, not just arguments, but physically as well. Somebody who is a drunk hath babblings as well. That's speaking gibberish, rambling on non-sensically, saying nonsense, saying meaningless things that don't mean anything. Somebody who is a drinker of alcohol is a person who speaks nonsense. They have wounds without cause also, the Bible says. Their perception is so altered that they'll fall over and they'll run into things, they'll get into fights, and they'll do stupid things that would hurt them themselves, such as driving drunk. In 2018, there were over 10,000 people killed in drunk driving accidents in the U.S. and thousands more injured in drunk driving accidents. Tens of thousands of people every year are brutally killed, either because they are drunk or the person driving another car is a filthy drunk. What else does alcohol do to a person? According to Proverbs chapter 23 verse 33, thine eyes shall behold strained women and thine heart shall utter perverse things. A person who is a drunk is also a fornicator and an adulterer. The influence of alcohol affects a person's judgment to the point that they make foolish decisions that could dramatically alter the course of their lives. Thousands of divorces have taken place as a result of alcohol-related adultery. Thousands of people affected by STDs due to alcohol-related fornication. And I've heard of people who under the influence of alcohol performed acts of sodomy, which they normally would find as completely disgusting if they were sober. But people who drink wine, they're perverse in heart, in their minds, in their actions. One sin leads into another, and for the Christian, that can bring the judgment of God upon them. I'll deal with that subject a little bit later in the video, but the Bible says also in Proverbs chapter 20 verse 1, wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging, and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. If you drink wine or strong drink, according to the Bible, you are not wise. That means you are a fool. Whosoever, anybody, just like in John 3 16, whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Whosoever, anybody that is deceived by the deceptiveness of alcohol, the Bible says is foolish. Their decision to drink alcohol is foolish, but it also makes them foolish. It is a sin. The Bible tells us to not look on it or to go near it for any reason because of the wickedness that it can lead us into. It says also in Proverbs chapter 31 verse 4 to 6, it is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes strong drink, lest they drink and forget the law and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted, give strong drink unto them that is ready to perish, and wine unto them that be of heavy hearts. The Bible says it is not for kings to drink wine, lest they forget the law and pervert judgment. Is that something you as a Christian would want to do to forsake the commandments of the Lord God? The Bible says this is the love of God that we keep as commandments. If you drink alcohol, you do not love God. Therefore it is not for kings and it is not for priests either. In Leviticus chapter 10 verse 8 to 10 it says, And the Lord spake unto Aaron, saying, Do not drink wine, nor strong drink, thou nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, and that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean. He starts off by saying unto Aaron in the priesthood, Not to drink wine or strong drink, and he gives them a clear reason why, that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean. Now what's that about? Well, again, alcohol is something which impairs your judgment. It perverts the mind and causes you to forsake the law. It makes you foolish. It makes you full of babbling, the Bible says. Under the influence of alcohol, one cannot put the difference between holy and unholy and between clean and unclean. That is why God told the priests, Do not drink it, lest ye die. Now the drunks and the liberals out there might say, Okay, well, does that apply to every Christian, though? And the answer to that is yes, absolutely, because the Bible tells us in Revelation chapter 1, verse 6, Hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever, Amen. It says in 1 Peter chapter 2, verse 9, But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and holy nation, and peculiar people, that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. In the New Testament, we are both kings and priests. We are a royal priesthood and an holy nation. If the Bible tells us that kings are not to drink wine, if they're not to drink strong drink, in Proverbs chapter 31, and the priests are commanded not to drink wine and not to drink strong drink, Leviticus chapter 10, that means we as Christians being both kings and priests, being a holy people should stay away from it. As the Bible says, we are commanded, be ye holy, in 1 Peter chapter 1, verse 16. But according to Leviticus chapter 10, we cannot tell the difference between that which is holy and that which is unholy, under the influence of alcohol. Hence why the Bible says that those who tarry long at the wine behold strange women. They utter perverse things, they have contentions, they have foolishness, okay? When somebody disobeys the commandment of God and thinks that they know better than what the holy scriptures clearly say, there are consequences. In Isaiah chapter 28, verse 78, it says, but they also have erred through wine and through strong drink are out of the way. The priests and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink, they err in vision, they stumble in judgment, for all tables are full of vomit and filthiness so that there is no place clean. This is exactly what the Lord said would happen for those who chose to drink wine and strong drink. The priests and the prophet err, they have done wrong, they have transgressed the commandment of God by drinking wine and the strong drink. And what is the result of that? They stumble in judgment, it says, they do not have proper vision, there is nothing clean, there's filthiness and vomit. That's the image of the Bible paints of alcohol consumption, drunkenness leads to nothing but filthiness and perversion. And don't act like that's not true either, by the way. I live with somebody who's a drunk and I have to deal with this almost every day, constant arguments, stumbling, yelling, babbling, nonsense, making messes, vomiting, cursing, saying filthy and perverse things. The Budweiser ads on the hellavision are not reality, folks, okay? People who are drunks are some of the most miserable and disgusting people on the planet, and that's just a fact. That's why we who are called to be a holy and righteous people should stay away from it. We are God's priests, we are his heirs of his kingdom, a holy nation who is told over and over again to be sober in the scriptures. It says in Titus chapter two, verse one and six, but speak thou the things which become sound doctrine, that the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith and charity and patience. The age women likewise that they be in behavior has become with holiness, not false accusers, not given too much wine, teachers of good things that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands that the God be not blasphemed. Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. So everybody be sober. If you're an aged man, be sober. If you're an aged woman, be sober. If you're a young woman, be sober. If you're a young man, be sober. In the same chapter, it says later in Titus chapter two, verse 12, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly loss, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world. How are we supposed to live in this present world? Overly, righteously and godly. First Peter chapter one, verse 13 says, wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. In first Peter chapter four, verse seven, it says, but the end of all things is at hand. Be he therefore sober and watch in the prayer. First Peter five eight, be sober, be vigilant because your adversary, the devil has a roaring lion, walketh about seeking who he may devour. Over and over again, the Bible commands us to be sober. Sober means being serious minded, not affected by alcohol, not intoxicated. Somebody who drinks alcohol is disobeying the commandment of God to be sober. They're letting their mind be affected by intoxication. And don't give me this nonsense of, well, if you just drink a little bit, you're going to be fine. That's absolutely not true. According to the article titled drunk driving on NHTSA.gov, which would be national highway traffic safety administration, and also the article titled blood alcohol level and effects on the body on alcohol.org with a zero point zero two blood alcohol content, which is usually about one drink. There is already some loss of judgment, changes in mood, decline in vision, decline in ability to multitask and increased relaxation. Then with a zero point zero five blood alcohol content, which is two drinks for the average person, there is much more impaired judgment, exaggerated behavior, loss of control of muscles, limited ability to respond to emergencies, lowered alertness, reduced coordination, etc. So already with just one or two drinks, and that changes depending on somebody's body weight. But for the typical person, even just one or two drinks is enough to make you not sober. And the Bible commands us to be sober. That's not let me get intoxicated as much as possible before I completely black out. Okay. It's not let me just play around and only lose some of my sobriety. No, it's be sober period. Everything to do so is very dangerous. As first Peter chapter five verse eight says, be sober because your adversary, the devil as a roaring lion walketh about thinking whom he may devour. If you do not remain sober, but allow your judgment to be perverted, Satan can get a hold of you and lead you into other sins like the adultery and the fornication, the perversity mentioned in the book of Proverbs or the contentions and the strikes and the fighting a Christian who drinks as an open target for the tax of the devil. But if you don't let your mind be affected by the poison that is wine is strong drink and beer, you will not fall into that sin. Besides the commands and the warnings in scripture, we also see examples of the devastation that alcohol can cause in stories in the scriptures. And this is a good principle to apply when studying the Bible. You see the first time that a certain thing is mentioned in the Bible, a certain word, certain phrase, a certain terminology or a certain concept. If you go back to the first time it's used, it really sheds a lot of light on God's opinion on that particular thing. I don't think it's a coincidence that the very first time that alcohol is mentioned in the Bible, it's in connection with the abomination of sodomy. In Genesis chapter 9 verse 20 to 25, it says, and Noah began to be an husband and he planted a vineyard and he drank of the wine and was drunken and he was uncovered within his tent and hand the father of Canaan saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brother without and Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it upon both their shoulders and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father and their faces were backward and they saw not their father's nakedness. And Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, cursed be Canaan, a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. Now the Lord being unperversion speech limited the details in the story. We can tell that what Ham, the son of Noah did was more than just accidentally stumbling upon his naked father. Notice how it says in verse 24 that Noah saw what his younger son had done unto him. Okay, and this leads Noah into cursing Ham's son Canaan and all of his descendants because of what Ham did. Now as a result of alcohol and drunkenness, which had overtaken Noah, this led him into being violated by his reprobate son and Canaan's descendants being cursed. All because Noah had fallen to the sin of drunkenness and he had been attacked by the devil as 1 Peter 5 says, if Noah had never gotten drunk, this never would have happened. The only reason this happened is because Noah had gotten drunk. He passed out uncovered and he was unable to detect during his drunkenness what his son was doing unto him. Now that's the first time that alcohol is mentioned in the Bible and it results in homosexuality. The second time we have a story about alcohol, another abomination is committed. In Genesis chapter 19 verse 30 to 36 it says, and Lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the mountain and his two daughters with him for he feared to dwell in Zoar and he dwelt in a cave. He and his two daughters and the firstborn said unto the younger, our father is old and there is not a man on the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth. Come let us make our father drink wine and we will lie with him that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night and the firstborn went in and lay with their father and he perceived not when she laid down nor when she arose and it came to pass on the morrow that the firstborn sent unto the younger behold I lay yesterday night with my father. Let us make him drink wine this night also and go that way in and lie with him that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night also and the younger arose and lay with him and he perceived not when she laid down nor when she arose. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father. So Lot has two daughters who were trying to produce a child and they assume wrongly because of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah that they would be unable to find another man to bear a child with. So what they do is they use the poisonous tool called wine and they force their father to drink it so that he would become drunk so that they can rape him and bear a child and that's exactly what they did. Now I'm sure Lot had no desire to commit this wicked abomination of incest which by the way according to the law of Moses is punishable by death. The only reason why he was taken advantage of like this is because they had gotten him drunk. So now under the influence of wine he did not have the judgment, he did not have the appropriate perception to see what they were doing unto him. As it says in verse 33, he perceived not when she laid down nor when she arose. Now this isn't the only time in history that this has happened. This happens to day two. According to alcohol.org, 50% of sexual assaults on college campuses in the US involve the use of alcohol. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism in the article called Alcohol and Sexual Assault, this is a quote here, depending on the sample study and the measures used, the estimates for alcohol use among perpetrators have ranged from 34 to 74%. Similarly, approximately one half of all sexual assault victims report that they were drinking alcohol at the time of the assault with estimates ranging from 30 to 79%. Why is this? Well from the perpetrator's side because as it says in Proverbs 23 verse 33, thine eyes shall behold strange women and thine heart shall utter perverse things. There are certain things which a sober person would never consider doing but if they got drunk they would do such as sexual assault. The reason why rapes and violent crimes are so high in this country is because the majority of them are drunk and I can guarantee you a lot of the people who end up being convicted for rape or molestation or whatever would never have considered doing what they did if they were sober. But once they started drinking alcohol, their good judgment is gone. Now the devil can take a hold of their mind. And again, why are so many people who are the victims of sexual assault also under the influence of alcohol? Because just as we saw in the examples of Noah and Lot, they were both taken advantage of by the sober pervert because they could not perceive what was happening unto them because they were drunk. See if somebody tried attacking me while I was sober, okay, they're getting their teeth knocked out. But if I was drunk, my mind would be so altered that I couldn't tell what's going on. And a lot of the time the victim is made drunk by the perpetrator like in the example of with Lot in Genesis 19 and the pervert knows that the alcohol is going to make it easier for them to commit some filthy act. The Bible says in Habakkuk chapter 2 verse 15, woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink that putteth thy bottle to him and maketh him drunk also that thou mayest look on their nakedness. God pronounces a curse, a woe upon those who would do such a thing. And notice also here in Habakkuk 2, it once again is referring to homosexuality. See how it says him that giveth his neighbor drink. So the one providing the alcohol is a male, right? And then it says putteth thy bottle to him and maketh him drunk also. So both the perpetrator and the victim is male and he does it that thou mayest look at their nakedness. So this is a sodomite getting a normal person drunk that they might take advantage of their neighbor. The Bible says in Joel chapter 3 verse 3, and they have cast lots for my people and have given a boy for an harlot and sold a girl for wine that they might drink. So that's the picture that the Bible paints of drunks, rapists and adulterers and fools, people who sell their children that they might get wine, that they might get drink. People who are selfish and wicked and stupid and perverse, full of strife and contention, who are filthy and unholy and unclean, without judgment. There's vomit. There's a lack of judgment and intelligence. That's what the Bible says about alcohol. And don't pretend like that's not true. I'm sure most Christians out there aren't so brainwashed by the hellavision and the advertisement that we see, how the deception that the world tries to cram down our throat. But if you know a drunk, you know that this is true. If you know the statistics, you know that this is the truth. No Christian should ever drink alcohol for any reason. It's a sin not to be sober and it's a sin to be drunk as well. The Bible says in Ephesians chapter five, verse 18, and be not drunk with wine wherein is excess, but be filled with the spirit. Notice the word there in the middle of the sentence, it says, but that's a conjunction contrasting two different things. It's saying instead of being drunk with wine, instead, by contrast, do the opposite thing, which is being filled with the spirit. So that tells me that somebody who is a drunk is not filled with the spirit of God. Remember, the Bible tells us to be sober because of the fact that the devil is seeking people to devour. The Bible tells us that those who are drunk will forget the law and will pervert judgment. If you want to serve God, if you want to be filled with the spirit, obey the commandments of God, be a righteous and holy example of a child of God. You cannot drink alcohol. That's why wine and beer and vodka and all other alcoholic drinks are the devil's favorite beverage because it draws one away from the Lord. It draws one away from righteousness, from holiness. The Bible defines drunkenness as a work of the flesh. In Galatians chapter 5 verse 21, it says envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like, of the which I tell you before, as I've also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Remember the context of Galatians 5. It tells us that if we walk in the spirit, we shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Then it defines what the lusts or the works of the flesh are in verses 19 to 21. And then in verse 22, it tells us what the fruits of the spirit are. So again, somebody who falls into drunkenness, they're not walking in the spirit. They're walking in the flesh. It is a desire of the flesh. It is a sin. It is not of God. The Lord takes disobedience to those committed very seriously. If somebody is a member of a church and they fall into drunkenness, the Bible commands that they are to be cast out of that church. It says in 1 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 11 to 13, but now I have written unto you not to keep company if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator or covetous or an idolater or a railer or a drunkard or an extortioner with such an one know not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? Do not you judge them that are within, but then that are without God judges. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person. So again, this isn't a light commandment. If a church is actually following the biblical principles of church discipline, they would throw out a person who was a drunk, who was called a wicked person. Now for some odd reason, even though the biblical teaching on alcohol is abundantly clear, there's people out there who try to justify drinking, even Christians who try to justify drinking, and usually they're either drunks themselves, and that's why they're trying to justify it, or they're just watered down liberal Christians who don't read their Bible. So I'm going to answer a few common objections to show that under no circumstances is alcohol acceptable as a beverage. Now the first one, which I'm sure that we've all heard is, well, Jesus turned water into wine. John chapter two, verse nine to 10, it says, when the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine and knew not whence it was, but the servants which drew the water knew, the governor of the feast called the bridegroom and saith unto him, every man at the beginning does set forth good wine. And when men have well drunk, then that which is worst, but thou has kept the good wine until now. So this is during the wedding at Cana when Jesus commands the servants to bring water pots that were filled with water onto the governor of the feast. Not only was water, but he had turned it into wine, but I want to point out that the word wine that's used in the Bible is simply a term for grape juice, whether it is fermented or unfermented, whether it's alcoholic or unalcoholic, the word is used for both the alcoholic drink and the non-alcoholic drink. In Isaiah chapter 65, verse eight, it says, thus saith the Lord, as the new wine is found in the cluster and one sayeth, destroy it not for blessing is in it. So will I do for my servant's sake that I may not destroy them all. The Bible talks about something called new wine and says that the new wine is something that is found in the cluster. That's a cluster of grapes. If you take a grape and you squeeze it, alcoholic wine does not come out. Grape juice does. Okay. It only becomes alcoholic when you extract the juices, you add yeast and then you wait over time and there's a chemical process which is called fermentation in which the sugars in the grape juice are converted into ethanol, which is alcohol. That's how alcoholic wine is made. It doesn't just come straight out of the cluster. Okay. You're not going to take a cluster of grapes and squeeze and alcohol is going to come out. It's just grape juice. When the Bible, it still calls it wine. Okay. Both the juice in the cluster, the juice in the grape is called wine as well as the alcoholic drink. Okay. So it's commonly referred to in the Bible as new wine. In Hosea chapter four, verse 11, it says, forward them and wine and new wine take away the heart. So it distinguishes between wine and new wine and that shows us that there is a difference. Okay. So wine doesn't have to be redundant. So just because wine is mentioned in the Bible doesn't necessarily mean that it's alcoholic and you might say, well, how do we know which one it's talking about in John chapter two? Now look, how many verses did we just go over that show us what God thinks about alcoholic wine? You don't get drunk off of grape juice. Okay. You don't black out from grape juice. Grape juice doesn't make you unsober. It doesn't pervert your judgment. It's not that difficult to figure out which one the Bible's referring to if you just consider the context and actually read the whole verse. Okay. Now the claim that Jesus turned water into alcoholic wine is absurd. Read the passage again in John chapter two. Notice what the governor of the feast says. He says, every man at the beginning does set forth good wine and when men have well drunk then that which is worse. So that's the usual custom. That's what people usually do at weddings. First they give the good wine and then they give the worst wine. Now the governor is saying thou has kept the good wine until now. So is this the beginning of the feast? No. If you recall the story in the context, the reason why Jesus turns the water into wine is because they ran out of wine at the feast. So most of the people who defend drinking will say, well, it's okay as long as you don't get drunk, which is almost non-existent by the way. We already talked about that and here's the thing. If it's just well, it's fine as long as if it's in moderation like they say, then why in the story does Jesus give alcoholic wine as they claim after men have well drunk? If you believe these alcohol defenders out there, you'd have to believe that Jesus is making people drunk because they've already had plenty of wine. They've already well drunk it says, and now Jesus is giving them more. But the Bible tells us that God does not tempt any man with evil in James chapter one and has already shown drunkenness is a sin. So is Jesus giving them alcoholic wine? If they're already drinking wine, is he giving them more to make them drunk? Absolutely not. It doesn't make any sense. Okay. It's new wine that he's giving them there. It's grape juice. It's not alcoholic wine. Okay. So that argument doesn't work at all. Now another objection comes from the following verse, first Timothy chapter five verse 23. It says, drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach sake and thine often infirmities. Now, the reason why this is stupid is because it's common knowledge that alcoholic wine is not good for the stomach. According to drink aware.co.uk, the article is alcohol harming your stomach says put simply alcohol irritates your digestive system. Drinking even a little makes your stomach produce more acid than usual, which can in turn cause gastritis, the inflammation of the stomach lining. So it's just the fact that alcohol causes stomach pain and it causes gastritis. So if he says, use a little wine for thy stomach sake and thine infirmities, which one do you think he's talking about? Is he talking about the alcoholic one, which causes health problems in the stomach and the liver and the brain and other places, or is he talking about healthy grape juice? I mean, it's not that difficult to figure out if you just think about it. But of course, if somebody is drunk, they're not going to think the Bible commands us be sober. It warns us against the dangers of alcohol, whether it's wine, whether it's strong drink, it doesn't matter. We are the holy people of God. We are the Royal priesthood where Kings and priests unto God and the Lord commands Kings and priests not to drink alcohol. He says, not even to look upon it when it is red in Proverbs 23. That means avoid it at all costs, okay? Don't give into the deceptions of wine. If you don't listen to the warnings of the scriptures, the Bible says in Proverbs 20 verse one that you are not wise, you're a fool. I didn't say that that's what the Bible says in Proverbs 20. I'm sick of people who try to justify drinking alcohol, especially Christians out there. And usually it's the Christians who were watered down in other areas in their walk with God. Anybody who actually read the Bible and who is serious about serving the Lord misunderstands this clear teaching of the scriptures. Stay away from it. Don't get drunk. Don't drink alcohol. Okay? So thank you everybody for watching. That's it for this video. God bless you and goodbye.
