Matthew Stuckey here giving another soul-winning tip and in this video I want to talk to you about the idea that salvation is a free gift that there's no works involved in salvation how do we explain that to people obviously Ephesians 2 8 9 which is a very common scripture we use for soul-winning says you know for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast it is not works it's not what we do we don't have to give our life to God to be saved he gave his life for us to be saved and no one's gonna be able to boast in heaven because it's not our works that get us saved and so the first place I show people after I explained that Jesus died was buried and rose again is Acts chapter 16 where it says sirs what must I do to be saved and they said believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved now when you're showing them people that verse many times people from a Christian background or non-denominational background or Pentecostal background they might say they agree with that it's by believing right I mean pretty much every you know Christian out there will say yes it's by believing on Jesus Christ doesn't mean that they understand that and so when it's saying believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved what we should try to explain to people is it's not just believing that Jesus existed it's not just believing in God it's that you're putting your trust on Jesus Christ to save you not trusting yourself so in Tagalog we have you know money wallah which means to believe and then you have mug T wallah which is to trust in the Bible saying to believe or to trust so I will ask people this question I'll say well let's say I told you that you know what I believe in Jesus but I think that I'm gonna go to heaven because I'm a nice person because I go to church because I do good things I don't drink you know who am I trusting to get to heaven am I trusting Jesus or am I trusting myself most people will tell me oh you're trusting yourself now sometimes people I you know miss that question because maybe they're confused with what I'm saying or maybe sometimes people aren't fully paying attention but you know what I'm explaining that to people most people get what I'm saying that hey you know what if I say I'm getting to heaven because I'm nice because you know I keep the commandments like you told me earlier in the conversation you know well who would I be trusting Jesus or myself and they say oh you're trusting yourself that is a really good way to help people get an idea that their belief is in the wrong thing and showing them that believe on the Lord Jesus Christ means you put your full trust you believe on him you put your trust in him to save you you're not trusting yourself so point number one is just explaining salvation is free so make sure we explain it's not just believing he exists but make it clear that you're putting your trust on him to save you point number two is realize that people from a non-denominational rack background or Pentecostal background some sort of Christian background oftentimes they have trouble with terms like believe and gift the reason why is because they've been taught falsely their whole life so it's hard to get them to change their mind and sometimes people from a unique religion if you ever give the gospel to a Hindu they understand what you're saying very clearly about it not being of works and things like that but what I found is that Christians sometimes get more confused by this because they think they have an idea of what some of these things are and oftentimes they are wrong and so you know one thing we need to make sure is that when we're talking to people of some sort of Christian background sometimes you're preaching the gospel to them and they they think they're going to heaven they think that they're probably going and when you're explaining it even during the conversation they're thinking hey I agree with this this is what I believe in everything what's important to help them realize that they are off in their belief and so we're explaining believe you know make sure if they're not saved that you're explaining it in a way where they're realizing that what you're saying is different than what they believe because they might say yes by believing you know but they're still thinking that their works and their lifestyle has something to do with getting to heaven so point number one explaining salvation is free point two people of a Christian background can oftentimes get more confused by that they need to have an idea that what they believe is wrong and point number three another thing to watch out for when you're explaining salvation is free is sometimes people are thinking it's just by believing but if you're really believing then you're gonna do the good works and actions are gonna follow this is oftentimes what people talk about during the gospel presentation and so it's important to help them change their mind about this because you don't want them to be trusting their works on either side of salvation and what when people are confused about this idea you know it's it's a red flag that you know they could be trusting the wrong thing and they might still be trusting in themselves so you want to explain this you say well how do you explain to people that works don't always follow belief well when we're explaining the gospel it's meant to be simple so this does not have to be a one hour long sermon going in really big in depth but what I will tell people is something like this I'll say well do you believe that you should eat healthy and exercise they're like yeah I was like does that mean you're automatically gonna eat healthy and exercise just because you believe you should because everybody believes you should eat healthy does that mean everybody believes you should drink water instead of drinking coke does that mean that you're not gonna drink the coke though I mean just because you believe it doesn't mean that works are gonna follow or I'll say something like you know do you believe that you should read books more than spend time you know on social media and they'll say well yeah does that mean that you're reading books more than you're spending time on social media and when I explained being born into the family you know in John 3 I explained being born again I'll say something like this well I mean do do all children obey their parents and it's like well no but but that doesn't mean that they're not their child just because they're not obeying their parents that does not mean that those are not their parents just because they believe that's their mom and their dad doesn't mean that they're gonna obey mom and dad and just because somebody believes that God died for them and paid for their sins doesn't mean that they're gonna obey what he says and so simple examples usually help it click with people but if people are being stubborn and hard-headed they might just choose to lie against the truth as the Bible says and refuse to just believe the simple gospel message there so obviously we're explaining salvation is free oftentimes people get it very easily but those are some of the things to worry about is making sure that they're understanding it's what belief is putting your full trust on Jesus Christ no longer trusting yourself make sure with people a Christian background that they're understanding because they could be confused and the other thing is giving them kind of a brief explanation if they're off on this about you know hey works don't automatically follow your faith and just believing only that's what gets you saved then you're a child of God and you have free will okay so anyways thank you and God bless
