While I sit and learn at Jesus' feet, I am free as free indeed. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, Full of glory, full of glory. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, All the half has never yet been told. I have found the pleasure I once craved, It is joy and peace within. What a wondrous blessing I am safe From the awful gulf of sin. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, Full of glory, full of glory. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, All the half has never yet been told. I have found that hope so bright and clear, Living in the realm of praise. Oh, the Savior's presence is so near, I can see His smiling face. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, Full of glory, full of glory. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, All the half has never yet been told. I have found the joy no tongue can tell, How His waves of glory roll. It is like a gray or flowing well, Springing up within my soul. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, Full of glory, full of glory. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, Full of glory, full of glory. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, Full of glory, full of glory. September 24th, that's a Saturday in Shreveport. And that's really a great opportunity to go soul winning as well. So lots of different events. That's pretty much all I have as far as announcements is this evening. We can go ahead and go to our third song, 140. We have an anchor, song 140, we have an anchor. All right, 140, we have an anchor. Will your anchor hold in the storms of life When the clouds unfold their wings of strife With a strong tide's lift and a cable's strength Will your anchor drift or firm remain We have an anchor that keeps us home Steadfast and sure while the billows roll Fastened to the rung, which cannot move, Rounded, hurrying, deep in the Savior's love It's safe we pour till the storm will stand For it is well secured by the Savior's hand Though the tempest rage and the wild winds blow Not an angry wave shall our park or flow We have an anchor that keeps us home Steadfast and sure while the billows roll Fastened to the rung, which cannot move, Rounded, hurrying, deep in the Savior's love In our eyes we hold through the gathering night The city of gold, our farmer's light We shall anchor fast by the heavenly shore When the storms all pass for evermore We have an anchor that keeps us home Steadfast and sure while the billows roll Fastened to the rung, which cannot move, Rounded, hurrying, deep in the Savior's love Proverbs chapter 23 Bible reads, When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee, and put a knife to thy throat if thou be a man given to appetite. Be not desirous of his dainties, for they are deceitful meat. Labor not to be rich, cease from thine own wisdom. Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings, and they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats. For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. Eat and drink, saith he to thee, but his heart is not with thee. The morsel which thou hast eaten shall thou bomb it up, and lose thy sweet words. Speak not in the ears of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of thy words. Remove not the old landmark, and enter not into the fields of the fatherless. For their redeemer is mighty, he shall plead their cause with thee. Apply thine heart to instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge. Withhold not correction from the child, for if thou beatest him with a rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with a rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. Yea, my reign shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things. Let not thine heart envy sinners, but be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long. For surely there is an end, and thine expectation shall not be cut off. Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way. Be not among winebibbers, among righteous eaters of flesh. For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty, and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags. Harken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old. Buy the truth, and sell it not, also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice, and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bear thee shall rejoice. My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways. For a whore is a deep ditch, and a strange woman is a narrow pit. She also lieth in weight, as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men. Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who hath contentions? Who hath babbling? Who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine, they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth its color in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of the mast. They have stricken me, thou shalt say, and I was not sick, they have beaten me, and I felt it not. When shall I awake? I will see it yet again. That's great. Thank you. He's for they are deceitful meat. Labor not to be rich, cease from thine own wisdom. Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings. They fly away as an eagle toward heaven. Eat thou not the bread of him that have an evil eye. Neither desire thou his dainty meats. For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. Eat and drink, saith he to thee, but his heart is not with thee. And here at the beginning of Proverbs, chapter 23, it presents to you a situation. The situation is that a ruler is setting food before you. And the Bible uses really strong language here to say that if you're a man given an appetite, you should put a knife to your own throat. Now, that's really strong language. What is it really suggesting? Again, it's not that it's wrong to eat food. It's not that it's wrong to eat with a ruler. But what you can kind of get the sense of in this particular parable or this particular example is the idea of someone buttering you up. Someone essentially trying to coax you into something through the avenue of food or through advertising some kind of a meat unto you. And in this kind of situation, it's kind of the idea of being wined and dined. You heard that phrase where someone would say they're kind of wining and dining someone where they're trying to butter them up. They're trying to take advantage of them. And so they're using these means of giving them food, giving them drink or giving them special types of delicacies. And in an environment that will entice you to do something wicked or evil. So, again, it's not so much that the food itself is wrong or sinful. And it's kind of what it's really insinuating is that someone that's given the appetite is not going to really be able to control themselves or be able to withstand this kind of a pressure that's being put on them from this individual because they're just so interested in the food. You know, the food is just so attractive to them that in essence, it's going to pervert their judgments and it caused them to make a bad decision. Now, the part of this proverb that really kind of sticks out. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
