Look at Psalm 49 verse number 12. Psalm 49 verse number 12 it says, nevertheless man being in honor abideth not, he is like the beasts that perish. The title for the sermon this morning brethren is like the beasts that perish. Like the beasts. Beasts of course referring to an animal. Like the animals that perish. What is this about? Well let's start there in verse number one. It says Psalm 49 verse one, hear this all ye people give ear all ye inhabitants of the world. So Psalm 49 is quite different to the rest of the Psalms that we're most familiar with. All right most Psalms are written for believers. You know most Psalms are written as a song of praise and worship or prayer toward the Lord God. This Psalm okay is written to the inhabitants of the world. All the inhabitants of the world. Okay primarily obviously your heathen. The unsaved, those that do not have God, the God of the Bible as their God. Those that are lost and on their way to hell. This is what this Psalm is for all right. So as we go through this Psalm I want you to consider you know the target audience as the non-believer. Because there are going to be a few things here that might not sound right to you as a Christian but you need to put yourself in the position of an unbeliever. For example there are times that this Psalm refers to those that are wise and those that have honor. Now is wisdom and honor great things to have? Of course it is. We're seeking to be wise people. We're seeking to be honorable but the Psalm when it speaks about the wise and the honorable it's talking about how the world considers the wise and the honorable. Okay those of our high social status. Those with big bank accounts. Those that are rich and famous. That's what they're targeting in this Psalm. So again it can sound confusing. Just remember the target audience primarily is to the heathen, the lost, the unsaved. Now with the title as I said like the beasts that perish. What this Psalm is really about is about a Christian, a saved person going out into the lost world and preaching unto them. Okay now what do we preach to the lost world? You know we come to church and I'm preaching to God's people. You know my goal is not to give you the gospel message over and over and over again. You know I mean from time to time we touch upon it. We hit upon it but I'm not trying to get you saved because you know I mean you I you know I look around I'm sure all of you except probably the youngest of children have believed on Christ have caught upon him and are saved. So we don't need to hear the gospel message over and over and over again in the house of God but the only sermon that the lost and dying world needs to hear is the gospel message. There's no point of preaching them anything else. I mean what's the point of them knowing everything in the Bible but forgetting or not knowing what they have to do to be saved. It's pointless. From an internal perspective it's pointless and so what we learn of course is Psalmist you know probably David not sure doesn't say you know he's saved you know and and he's preaching to a lost world and of course it's going to be that gospel message that he preaches and as I said to you the title of the sermon was like the beasts that perish like the animals that perish. Now you know when we go out and preach the gospel to the lost what this is kind of considered or called is confrontational soul winning. Okay the fact that we're going out to people and trying to engage with them trying to tell them right we're going out of our way we're taking time and we're just confronting people at the door are you 100% sure that if you died go to heaven. That's called a confrontational soul winning. A lot of people don't like it. They prefer the lifestyle evangelism. A lot of children prefer the lifestyle. They'll be like well just hang out with your friends and get comfortable with them for a few years and then if they haven't died and gone to hell yet then maybe when the opportunity presents itself and they start asking questions about spiritual nature or they start asking hey what church do you go to that's the time to give them the gospel. You know I mean you know here's the thing should we do should we engage in lifestyle evangelism yes but not at the expense of being confrontational in our soul winning efforts. You know if you're just going out and yeah you know you come across people your family or friends you just find people and you get the opportunity rather than give them the gospel of course I believe in a lifestyle type evangelism okay but you know most people they're not going to want to hear from you just from that nature you're going to have to engage people every week knocking their doors and speak to them. It's confrontation again people don't like ah why are you doing that you know people are going to reject you they don't like you going to the door it's too confrontational but you know what we're not going to them and saying you're going to die like a beast. That's the title for the sermon today like the beasts that perish this is very confrontational you know the soul winner is going out and says look if you don't get saved you're going to be like a dead animal that's that's very confrontational we don't even take that approach okay so look look if you you know people are like oh man going door to door it's a bit confrontational we're not as confrontational as the Psalmist is here so relax it's all good all right we're doing what Christ commands to go out and preach the gospel to the lost now look at verse number two it says so we're preaching to all the inhabitants of the world verse number two both low and high rich and poor together so regardless of social status social class regardless of wealth rich or poor right high or low this is the same message that they all need to receive all right salvation the goth message is the same for all you can't go to heaven based on your social status you can't go to heaven based on your wealth none of that gets you there this message is the same regardless of who you are verse number three the preacher says my mouth shall speak of wisdom and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding all right now this wisdom of course the preacher speaks of his wisdom okay of course this wisdom is the word of God all right so he wants to go out and he's trying to get give wisdom to the lost and again that's what we're doing brethren you know we are wise we've been given the wisdom of God we know how to go to heaven and it's so simple isn't it I mean it's so simple that a child can understand it but brethren this is greater wisdom than what the lost have they've got no idea what they have to do to go to heaven I mean we talk to them every week they don't know I'm doing the best I can all right I mean it's just ridiculous that is not wisdom but notice what it says not only is his mouth going to speak of wisdom it says and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding so what he says is before I open my mouth I've meditated in my heart what I'm going to say you know I spent time looking at the scriptures I spent time praying I spent time preparing my plan of salvation and brethren that's that's the thing you need to do you know I believe I truly believe because you're all saved I truly believe at least in the new man you all want to preach the gospel to the lost you all want to see someone saved I'm sure about it but brethren before you can open your mouth with that wisdom you've got to have the meditation on your heart you know you've got to spend time in God's word you've got to spend time in preparation putting your plan together you need to spend time practicing you need to spend time coming out as a silent partner and learn the ropes and only through that process the meditation the thoughtfulness the understanding understanding are you then able to open your mouth with wisdom you know last week I preached a sermon I spent 20 minutes on a sermon all right there wasn't much meditation in that sermon but listen the vast majority of sermons that I preach you know to this church I'm there for hours you know I'm not just writing things out typing things out but I'm just thinking things over my mind what can I say to the church you know there's meditation that takes place I'm trying to understand God's word before I open my mouth and present the wisdom that comes from God's word you know so hey you want to be wise you want to speak words of wisdom you need to spend time meditating thinking about the things of God you know making sure that you understand things before you try to explain that to other people verse number four he goes I will incline mine ear to a parable I will open dark sayings upon the harp now of course the harp because it's a psalm it's a song right so he's he's not just he's preaching but it's a song as well that is that he's singing to the lost but he says I will incline mine ear to a parable I will open my dark saying upon the harp so a parable is a dark saying okay a dark saying and again what what you know is this about well if you can just keep your finger there and go to psalm 78 go to psalm 78 for me please psalm 78 what is a dark saying or a dark saying is a parable what does that mean exactly psalm 78 verse number two psalm 78 verse number two the bible reads I will open my mouth in a parable I will utter dark sayings of old so you're getting to the parallel there right parable dark sayings of old what does this mean verse number three which we have heard and known and our fathers have told us we will not hide them from from their children showing to the generation to come the praises of the lord and his strength and his wonderful works that he have done all right so if it's a dark saying what the bible teaching here it's hidden wisdom it's hidden wisdom it requires effort for this knowledge to come out all right now the psalmist here says look we receive parables parables that our fathers have passed down parables that we want to make sure our children learn all right and and what is contained within that teaching is uh the uh to come the praise of the lord his strength the wonderful works that he has done and of course when we go out we preach the gospel hey we are opening our mouth with dark sayings hidden wisdom all right yet so simple yet it's so accessible again the lost world have not got it why is it that the lost world why is it that australians still celebrate christmas still celebrate easter they know that christ was born they know that christ died and rose again and yet they're still on their way to hell why because it's dark sayings it's hidden wisdom they see it as a surface level thing they kind of get sort of it but they don't really know what it's about it's a parable unto them it's a dark saying meaning that that's our job to go and teach them this dark saying to teach them this parable do they understand the wonderful works that god has done and how that applies to them brethren there is wisdom in god's word you that are saved you that know the gospel message you have great wisdom you know you have the knowledge of the parable of why christ came and why he died and why he rose again from the dead you have that understanding again the lost world did not have it it's great wisdom great wisdom that we are to share to this lost and dying world all right they're not just going to get it by watching some hollywood movie okay you have to come and speak those words open uh causes people ears to be open to parables please go to proverbs now go to proverbs chapter one proverbs chapter one and verse number five proverbs chapter one and verse number five the bible says a wise man will hear and will increase learning and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels brethren if we want to be wise we need to keep learning okay if i want to be a wise pastor i have to keep learning i have to keep studying the scriptures i've got to keep growing in my knowledge for the lord you know i hope you know as you've seen me coming now you know we're coming to our five years as a church i hope you can say you know i hope you know as you've seen me coming out you know we're coming to our five years as the church i hope you can say hey my past is a little wiser today than it was when he first started the church in 2017 i hope that's you know i hope you know you can say my pastor has a greater depth of the knowledge of god's word now than he did when he started the church i hope that's the case because that's what i'm trying to do i'm trying to continue to gain wisdom i don't feel like okay i'm a pastor i started 2017 and that's it that's all my learning now i just have to dump my learning upon everybody now i just i'm trying to increase my wisdom so it can be profitable to you as well let's keep going there verse number six to understand a proverb and the interpretation the words of the wise and their dark sayings there it is again then it says the fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge but fools despise wisdom and instruction so if you want to gain this wisdom if you want to be someone that can interpret and understand the dark sayings the proverbs the parables of the bible this hidden wisdom that is accessible to us through the holy spirit of god brethren you've got to have a fear of the lord to begin with the fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge but fools brethren our australia do not have the fear of the lord why is it that australians are not as receptive as other places in this world because we haven't got the fear of god in this country okay and because they haven't got the fear of god they can't even begin with knowledge like we are so important to this world we are so important to this nation to give them the gospel because they're not going to get it in other rather than being wise with the knowledge and the fear of god they are fools fools that despise wisdom instruction we go and tell are you 100 sure hey would you give me a few moments just a few minutes of your time to tell you what the bible says and they say no i don't have time i don't want to hear it whatever it is brethren it just tells us that they're fools that despise the wisdom and the understanding they don't want to learn these dark sayings they don't want to learn from someone like you because they don't think you're wise you know again they consider those that are successful in the world as wise they consider those that are successful with investments and finances and those that are celebrities and those that are rich and famous they consider that to be wise okay but forever know you truly are wise knowing god's word okay you have the understanding of the dark sayings and those that reject this word are fools and uh what did it say yeah fools that despise wisdom and instruction all right back to psalm 49 back to psalm 49 and verse number five psalm 49 and verse number five and i guess that's important for us to go through because you know even me i've been soul winning you know for many years i don't even know anymore i have a lot i've been so winning right but sometimes i still get a little bit timid when i knock a door sometimes i still get a little nervous sometimes i still get those butterflies in my stomach before talking to someone strange person and you know what's going to help you is reminding yourself that you've got the wisdom of god that you've understand understood the parable you've understood why christ has come why god was manifest in the flesh you've got this wisdom okay that this world needs to hear and you know it's good to just remind yourself again in the new man not in this flesh this flesh can do nothing okay but in that new man that you are a wise person you are someone that understands great wisdom you can understand the dark sayings you've got the knowledge of the parables and you are being used by god to reach this lost world i think that will give you a lot more confidence remind yourself that you've got knowledge that they need to hear they need to hear this stuff okay okay verse number five verse number five some 49 verse number five it says wherefore so because because the safe person here because the believer uh you know has the dark sayings he understands salvation he understands the gospel then he says in verse number five wherefore and by the way wherefore it's like therefore therefore is for that reason wherefore is for what reason okay so he says because i know the gospel wherefore should i fear in the days of evil because why should i even have any fear even in evil days you know when the iniquity of my heels shall come pass me about now the iniquity of his heels you know when you think about life living a life we often talk about how we you know we're on a journey we're so journey so journeys right we're going for a walk where we're walking through this life and as we walk through life there's going to be iniquity there's going to be sin there's going to be days of evil but it says no matter how i walk in my life no matter what trouble surrounds me you know no matter how evil the days become he goes why should i fear for what reason should i fear again you know us that are saved we ought to have no fear we're saved brethren even if you lose your life you open your eyes you're there with the lord you're there in heaven what do you have to lose so i'm going to lose my life you get everlasting you got everlasting life already you get to experience the everlasting life you get to experience life without the sinful flesh even earlier if you pass away and you lose this body we truly have nothing to fear because we have the great knowledge of the dark saints of salvation of the gospel message that really ought to be enough now do we fear sometimes of course we fear why do we experience fear because we still have the flesh because we still have the old man because we're still concerned about what might take place tomorrow but again remind yourself we're not to walk in the old man we're to walk in the new man okay we're to have the fear of the lord and if you fear the lord the way you ought to you know it's going to help you overcome any other fears that you might experience in this world all right so he goes what for i don't have fear now brethren does this lost world have fear of course they do they're always concerned all right what's the next covid variant that's going to hit the shores all right what's the next weather event that's going to cause flooding you know what's what how the interest rates go into effect my you know my ability to take care of myself i mean this world is constantly fear brethren just turn on the news if you said i don't want to leave anymore praise god for you but if you still you know waste your time watching the news and the media it's just fear it's just propaganda to keep you afraid oh there's not enough vegetables on this on in the in the at the shops i'm all right with that i don't really enjoy my vegetables that much oh it's not enough meat so it's not you know the problems problems problems it's just fear fear fear fear fear you know you watch that news program for half an hour it's just trying to make you afraid brethren don't look whatever it's bringing you fear turn it off get rid of it and get yourself a healthy fear of god remind yourself that you're saved remind yourself that no matter what happens god's they're gonna god's gonna take care of you and if you die then that's god's will for you and you're gonna be in heaven okay you're gonna be praising god you're gonna have the best time you've ever had the moment that you step into eternity so truly we have no fear but the lost and dying world okay the inhabitants of the world as as it started with they are afraid they don't know what's going to happen when i die you know am i going to go to heaven and people say oh i don't care i'm just going to be buried six feet under and i'm just going to be fertilizer for the worms come on you know they're putting on a show you know they're just full of pride you know they just they just don't want to hear from the lord god they don't want to hear you know something that will challenge them you know at the intellectual level or the spiritual level whatever it is all right yeah people that say those things you know they might they might look very brave on the outside but brevin truly on the inside they're afraid they don't know what the future holds all right so again for what reason we also have nothing to be fearful about you know um you know this reminds me of another passage in the in the psalms maybe you want to turn that since you're in the psalms go to psalm 23 very probably the most famous psalm in the bible psalm 23 verse 24 psalm 23 and verse number four psalm 23 verse four it says yea though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death i will fear no evil why for thou art with me thy rod and thy staff they comfort me brethren even if we walk through this valley of the shadow of death even if you're going having a knee-death experience you know things are going so bad you know that you know you feel man i could just pass away i could literally die from this experience we're still if we're walking the new man okay if we have a fear of god it says i will fear no evil we can get to that point as christians truly if we overcome the fears that are contained in his flesh and why do we feel no evil for thou art with me god is always with us he'll never leave us nor forsake us anytime we go through troubles or fears brevin we can go and take it straight to the lord and he'll help us through his power through his spirit thy rod and thy staff they comfort me brother callum reminded me because when i preached for psalm 23 you know god's rod is god's rod of chastisement you know when when a child is disobedient the bible tells us that we're to pull out that rod of correction you know when we're disobedient as christians god pulls out his rod and chastises us and judges us you know and corrects us yeah you know what even when god pulls out that rod and doesn't feel too good and we're going through some difficulties because of our sin we're still comforted by the lord knowing hey you love me enough lord you see my sin you see the downward spiral that i'm going all right you see me walking away from you lord but you don't just leave me be i'm your child i'm your son i'm your daughter and you still bring me and take out that rod and fix me up because i'm your you never leave me you don't forsake me praise god for that praise god that god corrects his children and through that correction he comforts us he reminds us that he's there he's guiding us he's teaching us he's helping us to grow so truly brevin we have nothing to fear regardless of how evil days become verse number six verse number six now this is of course the unsaved world they that trust in their wealth and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches so that's what the world trusts we trust the lord we don't have fear because the lord is with us but this world they trust their wealth they trust their riches they think we're going to be okay because i've got this much in investments and i've got this much in my bank that's what they're trusting in again you know let me make it very clear that having wealth having riches in of themselves are not sinful okay money is not the root of all evil the love of money is the root of all evil okay having your love your affections your trust your confidence in your riches that's sinful that's wrong but money in of itself brevin it's just a tool to get through life okay and i sometimes i need to say this because i get i get questions by people because i don't know master kevin i got this much in my bank it might even sin you know i'm earning this one it's just too much that i'm earning you know my sin is this wrong well if you love it it's wrong you know if you're hoping trust in those riches it's wrong but the money in of itself hey praise god that has given it to you hey you've gone you you've worked hard you've labored you know you put your blood sweat and tears into work and you've been given your paycheck praise god you know it's a labor of your hands and enjoy it use it for what god wants you to use it for okay but again trust and riches that is the sin keep your finger there and please go to first timothy chapter six first timothy chapter six and verse number 17 first timothy chapter six now i truly believe it's probably going to be very unlikely unless you're very special okay very unlikely that most christians are going to be excessively wealthy on the earth okay now again does it happen of course it does people like abraham people like solomon the kings of israel you know these were very wealthy men okay can happen but i truly believe you know you're not going to become excessively wealthy in australia by australian standards i should say now you're if you live in australia and you've got a house over your head you know roof over your head and you and you and you eat every day you're already excessively wealthy in the in in light of the rest of this world okay you honestly but like you know when we can get people can compare themselves to the western world and how rich people get i actually believe god's going to protect a lot of us from becoming wealthy okay because often your heart can be drawn away to these things and pulled away from the lord okay but it says here in first timothy chapter 6 verse 17 and again paul is rented pastor timothy pastor timothy is preaching to his church so timothy this is what you need to teach your church charge them that are rich in this world that they be not high-minded so don't think of yourself hi look how great i am look at all my riches nor trust in uncertain riches again that can happen when you have too much you start putting your trust in these things it says trust nor trust in uncertain riches but in the living god so regardless of how much you have brethren make sure your trust is in the living god look who giveth us richly all things to enjoy so pastor timothy is reminding he must have some rich people in his church okay he's reminding look the reason you're rich the reason you have your wealth is because god has given you those riches trust in the lord not in the wealth that you have let's keep going there verse 18 what are they to do that they do good so those that have riches do good and that they be rich in good works hey don't just be rich in your bank account hey do some good works do some things that god would want you to do look ready to distribute hey you know what if there's a financial need and you've got wealth you'd be ready to be the one that helps out that brother or helps at that work or helps at that project all right willing to communicate laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come they may lay hold on eternal life because look lay up your treasures in heaven okay make sure your riches are up there use your riches on this earth to further god's kingdom to do good work god's work and good works so that you can have riches in heaven okay so that's the teaching that timothy is preaching to those that are rich again again there's nothing wrong with riches do not trust in your riches though trust in the lord god that has given you these wonderful things all right verse number seven psalm 49 verse number seven psalm 49 verse number seven again we're speaking to those that are wealthy those that are rich it says in verse number seven none of them so none of the rich can by any means redeem his brother nor give to god a ransom for him so what's it saying riches can't save anybody you cannot save a person from hell you cannot uh you know get someone right with god based on riches no matter how much you give you know the ransom cannot be paid by the riches of this world can you please turn to first peter chapter one turn to first peter chapter one verse number 18 first peter chapter one verse number 18 now it's hard for me to put myself in this mental state because i've never been excessively wealthy or anything like that okay but the bible over and over again speaks how people actually do people and obviously this must be true because it's in god's word but people that are rich are okay and i'm talking about excessively wealthy right they actually believe that they're going to go to heaven or be made right with god because of their riches they truly believe this like to us it just seems so ridiculous doesn't it like to think that money wealth position status social status can get you to heaven but these people truly believe that they truly believe look at who i am on this earth how would god reject me look what i've made of myself you know again they think like that the rich and again it's hard for me to even consider that but the bible is clear about this look at our first peter chapter one first peter chapter one verse 18 first peter chapter one verse 18 it says for as much as you know that you are not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold you know what if you're trying to get to heaven or think you're right with god based on your silver and gold based on your riches it says these silver and gold these this wealth it's corruptible things you know you come to god look at my wealth god look what i've done in this world it's just corruption in god's eyes you can't get to heaven based on your wealth it says let's keep going there um as silver and gold from from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers but with the precious blood of christ as a lamb without blemish and without spot so how we're redeemed not with corruptible things we're redeemed by the precious blood of christ that's the only thing that redeems us it's the only thing that saves us it's the only thing that makes us right with god you know i prefer not to you know if we're going out soul winning i prefer to like avoid the richer areas because we know they're less receptive but you know what we're still the preacher the gospel preacher in this psalm he's still going to the rich and telling them what they have to do he's still going to the rich and saying look your wealth is not going to get you to heaven okay so even though and it is right and biblical to try to target the the places that are a little bit poorer maybe a little bit lower social status you know lower class that's right but again i think about sunshine coast i don't feel like there's even that much of a place like that but you know what even the rich areas we can't just ignore them brethren we are we still need to knock those doors okay even though we may not see many people saved in those areas we're still required to do that to tell them that they're corruptible things like silver and god's not going to get them saved they need the precious blood of jesus the bible also says in first timothy two five for there is one god and one mediator between god and men the man christ jesus who gave himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time so you want to pay a ransom for someone's soul the only one that paid it was jesus christ it's only through him that you can be saved that's the message to the rich okay that's the message to the poor hey this is the message to all the inhabitants of the earth okay back to psalm 49 psalm 49 verse number eight psalm 49 verse number eight the next words are really beautiful it's interesting it's in brackets but it says for the redemption of their soul is precious and it's ceaseth forever so you know it's like because the psalmist is preaching to a lost but this in brackets it's like he's reminding himself okay because again you know when we go soul winning and people reject us you know it doesn't feel good right you know like and you i i guess when you think of the rich and you think of the wicked you think about how much people have done it's almost this idea oh you just didn't just go to hell like you you can almost have that in your mind then you know why if you reject me and you know why you can just die and and you're like you're worthless anyway but what what the what the psalmist is reminding himself here he says for the redemption of their soul is precious you know he goes the most precious the most important thing in this life is a saved soul that's what he's saying it's precious and we know when we go out soul winning and we see someone saved how much joy does that give you brethren when someone calls upon the lord in faith you know because again it's precious this soul is saved there's nothing greater in this world there's no greater accomplishment brethren that you think about anything you can accomplish in this world there's nothing greater than having your soul saved brethren you that are saved please remind yourself how precious it is that your soul has been redeemed how valuable it is you say oh i don't know man i'm gonna make myself much in this world you know i don't feel that i'm very skillful i don't feel that i'm very knowledgeable pastor i just think i'm gonna be nothing in this world i feel myself low and downcast and yet you've accomplished the most amazing thing the most precious thing the most important thing you've accomplished it you've got a safe soul a redeemed soul and again remind yourself we're gonna go soul winning these are precious souls that god has died for precious souls okay oh it's a rich area they're precious souls okay and because it goes and it's ceaser forever yeah because death is forever if that soul dies without redemption it's it ceases of course it continues to die in the lake of fire etc but life ceases okay the life of that soul season this is why it's so important okay that we don't just wait and go i don't know pastor maybe maybe in five years i'll be ready for soul winning maybe in 10 years every soul is precious people are dying every day people on the sunshine coast are dying every single day these precious souls that have been paid for by the blood of jesus already they've been paid for you know what it's just our job to go and tell people how they can be saved again once it dies death is forever it ceases forever verse number nine it says that he should still live forever and not see corruption so that's what we're trying to do we don't want a soul to die okay we don't want to see a soul not redeemed our goal is to see someone live forever everlasting life once saved always saved right eternal life and not see corruption and not see corruption now when the bible has these words not see corruption it's talking about the flesh okay corruption in this sense is the rotting of the flesh obviously once a body has died it gets buried that body starts to rot away and you're just left with bones and i guess over time those bones will just you know become dust anyway okay but you know what we can truly live forever salvation is not just you know this sort of uh event of a salvation of a soul which is important but the completion of salvation is that your flesh will not see corruption okay your flesh will not rot now keep your finger there and please go to first corinthians 15 first corinthians 15 all right so again not seeing corruption not rotten speaks that we're going to have a flesh that lives forever and of course this has to do with the resurrection okay or the rapture if you want to put it that way when christ comes and raptures his believers from this world let's just remind ourselves what it says here in first corinthians 15 first corinthians 15 verse 50 first corinthians 15 verse 50 you say well pastor kevin i don't know because if i die my my flesh will corrupt you know if if i were to die today and christ doesn't come back for another 100 years that that flesh is just going to be nothing it's going to be dust dust to dust isn't it pastor kevin yeah yeah yeah that's true but you don't want to take this body to heaven trust me okay think about all your sicknesses all the problems when i walk my knee kind of gets out of joint sometimes my knee i don't want to i don't want to live this forever i've got some type of hernia i don't know when i jump from certain heights i've got this pain you know i get that you know i'm sure everyone's body starts to break down over time okay sure you want to take that body with you to heaven and not only that but this body wants to sin this body you know this this sinful flesh just desires to do things contrary to god's word why do i want to take this body that is rebellious against god why do i want to take that to heaven i don't want to take that one to heaven okay but first corinthians 15 verse 50 says now this i say brethren the that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of god look at this neither of corruption inherit incorruption brethren this body is corruption again some people trust their wealth to go to heaven some people trust cleaning up their lives if i just live righteously enough if i just keep the commandments as best as i can i can make it to heaven no corruption does not inherit incorruption heaven is incorruptible okay eternal life everlasting life is incorruptible this body is corruption cleaning up this life getting rid of this repenting of sins does not save anybody okay riches does not save anybody it's all corruption okay but we want to inherit incorruption we want a flesh that will never corrupt let's keep going there verse number five sorry 51 first corinthians 15 51 behold i show you a mystery again this mystery is kind of like the idea of a dark saying a parable some wisdom that we have it says we shall not all sleep that means we're not all gonna die but we shall all be changed all of us will be changed even if you do sleep even if you do pass away all right it says in a moment in the twinkling of an eye at the last trump for the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised look at this incorruptible even the dead whose bodies are rotting in the grave that are corrupting in the grave they're going to be raised incorruptible new bodies brethren and we shall be changed for this corruptible must put on incorruption and this mortal must put on immortality so one day brethren and again this is all real we're going to have these bodies one day okay we're going to look at each other and go man what a body okay a body that cannot be corrupted a body that cannot sin a body that is immortal a body that cannot die we are truly going to have these bodies a very tangible body okay that god promises us at the resurrection at the rapture all right so yeah great hey we give someone confidence at the door you know if we give them the gospel and they call upon the lord and and they trust in him they're saved we give them the confidence that if they would die they were going to go to heaven one thing that we don't really have time to explain at the door is that you're going to have a new brand new body you're going to be walking this earth you're going to be ruling with christ for a thousand years i mean you've got a lot going for you besides what you just think about going to heaven and having that confidence all right salvation is more than just the confidence of heaven salvation is having a very tangible body being able to live in the new heavens and the new earth in the presence in the literal presence of the lord god all right back to psalm 49 psalm 49 verse number 10 psalm 49 verse number 10 all right now it says here for he seeth that wise men die now again the wise man here is not a believer again he's preaching to the lost so again consider yourself as a lost person and who do the lost consider to be wise okay obviously philosophers you know scientists doctors whatever people consider to be wise okay from a lost perspective for his for he see if that wise men die likewise the fool and the brutish person perish and leave their wealth to others their inward thought is that their houses shall continue forever and their dwelling places to all generations they call their lands after their own names all right so let's think about a few things it says here basically for he see if that wise men die so in our world we see or we hear or the media pumps to us when some rich person dies all right when some celebrity dies it's all over the news if a michael jackson or something dies it's all over the news all right if a uh who was the bowler that died australian bowler uh shane warne when shane warne died it's all over the news right there's another bowler that died recently i don't remember her name simmons simons i don't know some other look whenever whenever a celebrity dies it's all oh man and you know people are are sitting there their love to the family and all this stuff and you know what and again that's what you know that's what this world cares about which rich person died which celebrity died okay and it's like you know it's a big bit you know it's it's made to be like big news and and important for everybody to know but it says here for he said if the wise men die so even when wise men die it says here likewise the fool and the british person die perish okay so even though the media famous person died they're saying but yeah the same died on the same day a lot of other people died it's basically saying right it's basically saying look they're not that important okay even the fool and the british british means stupid lower class you know this this idea of just having no knowledge no wisdom because even they die it's saying look there's no difference between the wise and the british there's no difference between the celebrity and the person that nobody knows about you're all going to perish it's the same for you all and leave their wealth to others what i found funny at the end of this is and they call their lands after their own names but they they want to they want to leave their name forever right they name you know they'll name maybe uh streets after rich people all right uh you know the reason you got cities like sydney uh sydney is named after lord sydney uh melbourne melbourne i think was the prime minister uh during queen victoria's days is that right christina i can't remember right now okay hey but you know people of prominent position they want to leave their name somewhere they want to be remembered forever okay sometimes you know you can you can drive down streets here and you've got streets of people's names prominent people that were on the sunshine coast you know cities streets houses whatever they want they want to leave something about that you know that they kind of want to live forever as it were okay on the earth be remembered forever but they're not going to be remade forever you know as as the generations go you know you know people aren't remembered you know no matter how much you try to be remembered on this earth all right keep your finger there and please go to revelation chapter three go to revelation chapter three it also said that they leave their wealth to others so no matter how rich you get you can't take it with you you know no matter how wealthy you are on this earth you can't take it with you it's it's just gonna be left for others you know why spend your life you know just focus on how much money i can make when you're going to die not going to take it with you but hey you can make as much money as you can it lasts forever of course you're treasures in heaven doing the will of god that's going to last forever but look at revelation chapter three verse number five so you've got these wise people these rich people these famous people dying trying to leave a name for themselves on the earth okay but that's that's going to be forgotten that's going to perish rather we're going to leave our names forever it says here in revelation 3 5 he that overcometh the same shall be clothed in white raiment and i will not blot out his name out of the book of life but i will confess his name before my father and before his angels reverend what an honor your name you say i'm a poor person no one's going to remember me i'm never going to have a street named after me all right who cares your name is in the lamb's book of life your name will never be removed out of that and not only that jesus is going to go to the father and say your name he's going to acknowledge you as a child of god he's going to lift your name up before god for all eternity brethren so your name is going to be remembered you don't have to work hard make sure i've left you know a legacy of my name and my future so everyone remembers me on this earth they're not going to care about you if you leave a big sum of money all they're going to care about is the money they're not going to care about you all right hey brethren we've got our names forever now please you're in revelation so i've got a revelation 20 got a revelation chapter 20 verse number 15 revelation chapter 20 verse number 15 okay yeah so the rich trying to leave a name for themselves but where they need to have their name is in the lamb's book of life brethren we go and preach the gospel we not only when they get saved their name will never be removed out of that book okay and it's important because in revelation 20 2015 it says and whose server was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire so who cares if the whole world is named after you who cares if they change earth to kevin it doesn't matter if your name's not in the lamb's book of life brethren well not you because you're brethren you're saved but for the for the lost they're going to end up in the lake of fire so where do you want your name are you going to do you care about making a name for yourself on this earth i hope not hope you care about your name being in eternity you know what would christ say to the father about you and your name your reputation forever that's what matters back to psalm 49 verse number 12 psalm 49 verse 12 it says nevertheless man being in honor abideth not he is like the beasts that perish so again is honor good he's been honorable good of course it is but again a man being in honor is how the world sees honor okay again the celebrities people with big names things like that okay it says they're not going to live forever rather he is like the beast he's like the animals that perish that's pretty strong preaching all right i mean i'd like to see someone try it one day and get back to me give me your feedback you go and knock on someone's door and they're happy they're saying oh look i don't know you know i think i'm right with god you know my good works are going to get me to heaven you say look you're going to be like a beast that perishes give me your feedback let me see what they say hey this arm takes that approach but you know what sometimes you just got to be hit with the truth like sometimes some people get saved they just have to be hit hard all right we're different types of preachers some of you have been saved through some really hard preaching that you've heard online you know though you've had your face ripped and you realize man i was not right with god and you needed to hear it hard you know we all have different approaches we have different personalities right there are some people that i'm going to preach to that i'm not going to get saved but you'll be able to get them saved there are some people that you're just not going to be able to get saved but i'll be able to get them saved okay different people need different approaches okay for these people that think that that have high honor look how important i am in this world they need to hear you're just going to die just going to be like an animal no different to an animal that dies okay you're going to perish you're going to be buried just like any animal and please turn to ecclesiastes now ecclesiastes chapter three ecclesiastes chapter three verse number 18 ecclesiastes chapter three verse number 18 i do hope to get through the book of ecclesiastes next you know because when we finish the book of Nehemiah so i'm going through my three psalms like i normally do between books the next book that i want to hit is the book of ecclesiastes which is quite an interesting and challenging book and you have to understand that this book is like a journey uh king solomon he's on a journey and what he says is true but at that particular time okay it may not necessarily be true in a future time for example you know the classic example is you know uh little my little children they're not allowed to boil water they're not allowed to use the stove that's true at that particular point in time but as they get older i'm gonna ask them to make me a coffee or a tea they're gonna be able to boil water so that's true as well and they're going to be able to cook their own food etc etc and so the book of ecclesiastes you're going to keep that in mind is a journey it's a process okay but it's all true it's just true at different points of solomon's life as it comes to realize what is important in this world but he says there in ecclesiastes 3 18 it says i said in my heart concerning the estate of the sons of men that god might manifest them and that they might see that they themselves are beasts because i want people to see they're just animals they're not that important okay verse number 15 19 sorry for that which befall of the sons of men befall of beasts the same thing that happens to animals happens to the men even one thing befall of them as the one dieth so dieth the other yay yay they have all one breath so that a man have no preeminence above a beast for all is vanity you notice that so this is confirmed a few times in the bible you know men that try to lift themselves name big names think about the most famous people the richest people you know the elon musks of this world right the richest of the richest you know what when they die they're just the same as an animal they really accomplish nothing and actually they're worse than an animal because an animal doesn't go to the lake of fire they're going to suffer torment forever because they have a soul okay that soul that has rejected christ okay and so it's even worse than just dying as an animal because we know all dogs go to heaven no that's false advertising from disney disney's not gonna tell you the truth kids animals have one breath enjoy them on this earth then they die they're gone as sad as it is okay all right back to some sorry parents sorry psalm 49 psalm 49 verse 13 psalm 49 verse 13 psalm 49 verse 13 it says this their way is their folly so this is their foolishness okay thinking that their honor will last forever but there's something great it says yet their posterity approve their sayings sealer posterity means their descendants so it's basically saying like their descendants are just going to continue the same way okay you think you can make something of yourself you're aiming to be rich you're aiming to be wealthy you're aiming to be uh honorable wise in in the eyes of this world that's what the world just continues to do just it's just this constant cycle okay and even the children they continue doing the same thing they're not seeking after god verse number 14 like sheep so like another animal they are laid in the grave death shall feed on them and the upright look at this and the upright that's the saved shall have dominion over them in the morning and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling so yeah they they fix themselves up they've got all the makeup they've got the rich clothing it's all going to perish in the grave okay but the upright will have dominion over them in the morning so when the new day starts the saved are going to have dominion of these people that had dominion on the earth okay now keep your finger there go back to the book of revelation go to revelation chapter two you say this sounds exciting pastor kevin monday morning we're going to wake up we're going to have dominion over the earth well again you know this is a song it's a it's a work of poetry okay uh it's true okay there is coming a morning that we're going to have dominion over them okay and it's found in revelation chapter two look at revelation chapter two verse 26 revelation chapter two verse 26 it says and he that overcometh don't forget that one which overcomes is a saved it says and keepeth my works until the end to him will i give power over the nations and he that's us brethren shall rule them with a rod of iron as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers even as i received of my father and i will give him the morning star yes there is coming a morning christ is the morning star the bright morning star he's going to give us his authority we're going to bring in a new day a new morning brethren where we're going to have a rod of iron the same authority that the father has given to the son the sun's going to give that to us and we're going to reign in incorruptible bodies on this earth for a thousand years with christ okay the tables are going to be turned okay everyone that thinks on themselves highly they're going to perish in the grave and those of us that have cared for our names to be in heaven we're going to have dominion on this earth the bible says the meek shall inherit the earth okay so these are exciting days to come you know exciting days to come i'm going to look at you one day not only your incorruptible body among a man hey that's king that's king robert all right that's uh that's queen i'm assuming i guess the queen is i don't know all right but we're going to be made kings and priests we're going to have these great authorities great power you know it's amazing it's like just think about that you know we're going to be in charge of the earth with jesus christ okay it's amazing all right back to psalm 49 verse number 15 psalm 49 verse 15 i better better speed up a little bit it says but god will redeem my soul okay so yeah the the lost will die and you know they're going to lose their beauty as it were but for us he says god will redeem my soul from the power of the grave for he shall receive me sealer okay so this is like you know you go and tell people you ask people you know are you 100 sure that you're going to die and go to heaven and they go no i'm not sure what about you yeah i am all right but god will redeem myself from the power of the grave i know i know i'm saved you know don't don't don't feel uh you know like don't apologize for being saved don't apologize for having this great wisdom don't apologize for knowing that if you were to die you would go to heaven hey just say that boldly yeah i know i'm going because the bible tells me how i can know and i'd like to share that with you right now if you if you let me okay don't don't shy away from this great truth that you have brethren okay now when it says here god will redeem myself from the power of the grave again this ties in with the resurrection okay there is one of the place and i want to show you just again i love it when the bible just is like a puzzle and you pull the pieces together and it all just makes sense okay so please keep your finger there and go to hosiah go to hosiah 13 again that phrase the power of the grave it's only found twice in your bible once here in psalm 49 and also in some sorry in hosiah 13 so please go to hosiah 13 and verse number 14 hosiah 13 and verse number 14 i'll give you a moment to turn there because i just want you to see this and again just the consistency of the bible right hosiah 13 verse 14 the bible reads i will ransom them from the power of the grave there's that phrase again and being ransomed we've been delivered okay we've been saved the the price has been paid it says i will redeem them from death then it says these words oh death i will be thy plagues oh grave i will be thy destruction repentance shall be hid from mine eyes now i want you to notice that power the grave is mentioned here but also these words oh death i will be thy plagues oh grave i will be thy destruction now that might sound a little bit familiar to you we were there before i should get you to turn back there please go to first corinthians 15 please go to first corinthians 15 we were there just not long ago we read verses 50 to 53 when i was showing you that we're going to have our change our bodies change to incorruptible bodies okay we read verses 50 to 53 let's continue then verse on 54 first corinthians 15 and verse number 54 first corinthians 15 verse 54 the bible reads so when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption and this mortal shall have put on immortality then shall be brought to pass the same that is written death is swallowed up in victory then it says verse 55 oh death where is thy sting oh grave where is thy victory where is that written where is that found josea 13 what we just read right in jose it says oh death i will be thy plagues oh grave i will be thy destruction meaning that there's going to be victory over death and over grave that again is repeated there in first corinthians 15 verse 55 oh death where is thy sting oh grave where is thy victory again tying in to the resurrection the power of power over the grave okay the grave's not going to hold us you know if you were to sleep in christ you would if this body were to die and you're placed in that grave you're placed six feet under brethren one day it's all going to open up okay and you're going to pull yourself out of there you know and you're going to have new bodies and you're going to send up to the clouds and believe in christ forever we've all believers then we got to look at the grave we have to look at death and go you know what we've overcome you we've destroyed you by the power of christ we've been redeemed you know by the lord god praise god for the resurrection to come exciting exciting back to psalm 49 verse 16 psalm 49 verse number 16 it says in verse number 16 be not thou afraid when one is made rich when the glory of his house is increased for when he dieeth he shall carry nothing away his glory shall not descend after him sorry yeah his glory shall not descend after him i just sorry i just realized then it's something i'm kind of missed there but notice that it says descend so these people that are made rich these people that have power you know we should not be afraid of them okay because when he dies he's not going to carry anything away but then it makes it very clear that his glory shall not descend after him so he's descending he's going to hell okay he's not going to take his riches to hell he's nobody in hell he's nobody in hell okay he's taking none of his prestige with him so again just a reminder we should not be afraid of man no matter how powerful they are on this earth verse number 18 though while he lived that's talking about the unsaved man though while he lived he blessed his soul so he took care of his needs and men will praise thee when thou doest well to thyself okay again this is preaching to the lost okay so the lost want men to praise them okay the lost the heathen when they do well they want people to recognize them okay that's why you have the celebrities and all this stuff going on okay and uh again people they want to be praised they want to be they want to be seen of others for their earthly accomplishments all right these are the people that are lost and without christ but then look at verse number 19 it says he shall go to the generation of his fathers they shall never see light okay so when he passes away he'll never see light and this reminds us of what christ is about hell in matthew 20 22 verse 13 christ says and then said the king to the servants bind him hand and foot and take him away and cast him into outer darkness there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth out of darkness okay so we know that hell is a place of fire and torments but you know what the hottest flame is the hottest flame is an invisible flame the hotter it gets the less you can see the flame kind of makes sense if hell is a place of outer darkness a place that there is no light these people these people that are rich and drive about christ they think they can make themselves of something on this earth they will never see light they're going to go to the same place of their fathers okay those that have passed down their inheritance and their riches they shall never see light verse number 20 man that is in honor and understandeth not is like the beasts that perish so again we have that phrase again just just a reminder once again a man that is in honor high social status okay they understand not they don't have your wisdom they don't understand the dark sayings they don't understand the parables the proverbs of the bible they don't understand the gospel reverend those that do not understand the gospel they will die and be like beasts that perish they will be like animals that perish so you know i guess for the adults you know how important salvation has been you know many of you were not saved until later in life you know how important it is to have a church that preaches the truth and you know we have children in our church that grow up and our children are going to take our church for granted they will you know they will see it as something that i can just come to every week you know my parents brought me here and they're going to have minds when they grow up and they're teenagers they become adults they're going to have that mindset should i be in the house of god and they're going to be influenced by the world they're going to hear the propaganda they're going to see the media they're going to have this desire in their hearts to make of themselves something and bream when that starts to happen please remind yourself that it's the flesh please remind yourself that this world is influencing our kids this world wants to take it this world wants our kids to love wealth to love celebrities to love to have a high standing a high social class but you know it's important for us to remind our children these people that attain all these things they're going to die and they're going to be nothing they're going to be like animals on this earth that perish and they're going to descend to hell they're not going to see light okay they're not going to be remembered they're going to suffer in torment forever and they'll never take their wealth and status with them so why as christians should we seek such things these are lessons that we need to teach our children but like i said brethren the title for the sermon was like the beasts that perish that's what is going to happen to this lost and dying world they're like animals that perish it's our job to be like the psalmist to view every soul as precious regardless of who they are and to give them the dark saints give them the understanding the wisdom of the gospel of jesus christ let's pray
