lot just different things in here that I want to touch on really but the first thing that we see here in verse one it says keep silence before me oh islands and let the people renew their strength let them come near then let them speak let us come near together to judgment who raised up the righteous man from the east called him to his foot gave the nations before him and made him rule over kings he gave them as the dust to his sword and has driven stubble to his bow he pursued them and passed safely even by the way that he had not gone with his feet so the first thing we see here is that God is saying keep silence before me oh islands now another place down the line here it'll say isles now and a lot of times what you're dealing with here is the isles of the gentiles or the isles of the nations okay so what we're dealing with here is other nations that he's talking to and so the thing is that he's saying that let us come near together to judgment this isn't a good thing for them okay and I'm going to get to this but then it says in verse two who raised up the righteous man from the east now if you think about it Abraham came from the east from Ur of the Chaldees and he brought him into a land that he'd never been in before right a strange land and gave him that land all that and we'll see Abraham mentioned later on and this is actually the place where it calls Abraham the friend of God or calls him his friend and so I believe what you're dealing with here is he's telling the islands to be quiet to keep silence and then he's talking about how he brought you know Jacob or Abraham Isaac and Jacob obviously but in awe it you know it's talking about Israel right it's talking about that nation now go to Habakkuk chapter 2 because this phrase keeps silence before me it's something that comes up a couple times or it's more so something that I see where where I'm looking at and it's just interesting when it talks about people you know where God says to keep silence before him in Habakkuk chapter 2 and verse 18 Habakkuk chapter 2 and verse 18 and this chapter is interesting because it is it is dealing with idols ultimately at the very end it talks about their molten images it talks about how they can't do evil or good and he's basically saying they're nothing right and he's talking about these islands or these isles really these nations that worship other gods is really what he's dealing with here talking about and Habakkuk chapter 2 and verse 18 notice what it says it says what prophet what profited the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it the molten image and a teacher of lies that the maker of his work trust that they're in to make dumb idols now dumb means they can't talk right so that's the one thing that keeps bringing over they can't speak they can't talk they can't do anything right and it's really just foolishness when you think about an idol when you think about the idea that like that's my god and listen that still goes on today you know you have hinduism and you have buddhism and you have all this other stuff and you're like oh we don't worship buddha okay so but but that that being said there's still all kinds of idolatry i mean the catholic church the orthodox church like all this stuff i wish i would have got a picture of that one thing that i saw in in the den of lions if you will um but but just idolatry everywhere and you're and and listen i've already preached on that and you're like well you know it's just a great it's it's not we're not bound down yeah when it says um the more you honor me the more you'll be blessed i'd say that would be called worship um i don't know how else to really put that really who's venerating um then venerating is wrong then if that's your definition of venerating then that's wrong okay um but anyway uh keep reading here in verse 19 it says well one to him that set to the wood awake to the dumb stone arise it shall teach behold it it is laid over with gold and silver and there is no breath at all in the midst of it but the lord is in his temple let all the earth keep silence before him do you see how chapter 41 of isaiah starts off with saying keep silence before me old islands and then it off and then it ends what how's the chapter in look at the last verse there it says behold they are all vanity their works are nothing their molten images are wind and confusion so that's how it starts saying keep silence before me why because you're dumb idols and that's literally what the bible says right is because they can't speak they can't talk they can't do good or evil and ultimately when they worship these idols they're worshiping devils okay so there is a spiritual aspect to it but it's a it's a devil worship is what it is now go to isaiah chapter 41 again and go down to verse 21 because this is where he's really talking about these idols right as as we can see at the end of the chapter it hits on it but in chapter 41 verse 21 you know god's pleading with them and this is it's it's kind of a i guess amusing right because because the lord's like saying hey you know reason with me and and what you'll see with chapter you know 41 42 43 45 is that this is a these are huge chapters on god saying hey i'm god and there's no one else right there's no other god beside me and he keeps harping on that and the fact that these idols are no gods and this is where in the new testament where it says as there be gods many and lords many because there'd be many that are called gods and that are called lords right and or there's many that are called gods as there be gods many and lords many and the idea is that there's many idols out there and you know innumerable probably throughout history when you think about it um as far as that goes but you know there's only one god and there's none beside him and notice in verse 21 here it says produce your cause set the lord bring forth your strong reasons that the king of jacob let them bring them forth and show us what shall happen let them show the former things what they be that they may consider them and know the latter end of them or declare us things for to come so he's basically saying hey you know how about these idols why don't they tell us about things that have already happened right or tell us about things that are about to happen things are going to come in the future i love this because it's funny because it's just like yeah let's reason with them you know come to me reason with me because they're dumb idols i can't speak they're just inanimate objects that are created from a stone and from wood okay it's silliness really when you think about it to think that you made that thing right but that's your god you made your god right you crafted your god but you know obviously today that's what the world does they craft their own god in a spiritual aspect they craft their own god because they don't actually follow what the bible teaches as far as who god is but keep reading there verse 23 show the things that are to come hereafter that we may know that ye are gods okay so he's basically making a point he's like say all these things so that we'll know your gods yea do good or do evil that we may be dismayed and behold it together behold ye are of nothing in your work of not in an abomination is he that chooses you i love that because god is basically saying hey come reason with me you know tell me things that have happened before tell me things that are going on right now tell me things that are about to happen because you're of nothing and anybody that would choose you is an abomination that's strong language but that's what the bible teaches and he's really he's basically coming at the gentiles here as far as nations that have idols now the thing is though when you think of you say well israel you know they really they had a ton of idols right this is something that kept going back and forth where they would pull these idols in from all these other nations i'm reading through jeremiah right now because i'm studying up for my jeremiah sermon sunday and it's just over and over and over again about them going after idols whoring after other gods as the bible would say and so you know what they're guilty of that but he's hitting on uh the nations here now go to revelation chapter eight revelation chapter eight when i think of this idea of where it says keep silence before the lord or before me i always think of revelation chapter eight i think of abacak obviously um i shouldn't say obviously we just had this conversation well obviously abacak too when you think of like keeping silence before the lord right i meant obviously because we just read it okay that's what i meant by that so revelation chapter eight though is where the lord is coming right so we we think about revelation chapter six you have the sixth seal that's open the sun and moon are darkened and then you have the 144 000 that are sealed and you have the rapture in chapter seven chapter eight is where we're getting god is getting ready to pour out his wrath the same day that we're raptured out right the same day that we're taken up into the clouds he's going to start pouring out his wrath but the interesting thing about it is in verse one here it says and when he had opened the seventh seal there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour so when it says keep silence before me old islands i think of that verse right there because when he's he's going to get into the idea here of let them let the people renew their strength let them come near let them speak let us come near together to judgment now on the surface that sounds fun that sounds good right now because in isaiah chapter one it says let us reason together you know that your skin your sins be as scarlet they should be as white as snow you know the idea of reasoning together but i'm going to show you how that's not what he's talking about okay but let's keep reading there and you're in revelation chapter eight verse two just so you know there's silence in heaven about space of half an hour and i saw the seven angels which stood before god and to them were given seven trumpets and another angel came and stood at the altar having a golden censer and there was given unto him much incense that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne and the smoke of the incense which came with the prayers of the saints ascended up before god out of the angel's hand and the angel took the censer and filled it with fire of the altar and cast it into the earth and there were voices and thunders thunderings and lightnings in an earthquake so this is how god's wrath starts off he opens that seventh seal if you remember he had that book with seven seals and i believe that as that stuff's going on he's opening this book right meaning the book hasn't opened yet i don't believe it's been opened at yet at all so you imagine if you had a book or a scroll or something and you had seven seals wrapped around it can you open it if there's one seal on it so it's kind of like you're taking off a seal this is what's going on you're taking off the seal this is what's going on you're taking off a seal this is what's going on but when the book is opened there's the wrath of god right because that's when god's wrath starts actually in chapter seven it shows you that it hadn't it hadn't started yet so in chapter eight is really where we get started when that seventh seal is opened god's wrath is coming now obviously the the sixth seal and seven seals happening pretty quick from each other right immediately after the tribulation the sun shall be darkened that's the sixth seal and then you know the seventh seal opens on the same day you know so that being said it's not like those things have a big space between them but still that's what's going on now go to joel chapter three joel chapter three and verse nine and i believe this will really help you kind of show you what it's saying in verse one of isaiah 41 it's interesting we're going to get to another portion of isaiah 41 where it talks about how the lord will destroy those that were incensed against you and it's interesting because the incense of the altar is what's going to be poured out which is the prayers of the saints right and just how all that works together as far as god's vengeance his judgment his recompense on those that trouble you but in joel chapter three and verse nine here joel chapter three and verse nine notice what it says proclaim ye this among the gentiles prepare war wake up the mighty men let all the men of war draw near let them come up so this is very similar to what's said in isaiah 41 because it says keep silence before me oh islands and let the people renew their strength let them come near let them speak or then let them speak let us come near together to judgment okay so what are they coming for judgment notice what it says in verse 10 beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears let the weak say i'm strong who's he talking to is he talking to the saved no he's talking to the gentile he's talking to those of the nations okay now in a spiritual aspect obviously the gentiles is talking about unbelievers okay israel will be believers and the gentiles will be unbelievers so in the end times when it's when it's dealing with this you're dealing with the battle of armageddon is what you're dealing with here and it's he's basically saying hey you need to get your plowshares and make them into swords you need to get ready for battle notice what it says in verse 11 assemble yourselves and come all ye heathen and gather yourselves together round about and notice that so he's basically saying you know get all your mighty men gather them about and so you can imagine where he's saying let the people renew their strength let them come near meaning like you better get ready for battle and then it switches gears on what it's saying here because it says thither cause thy mighty ones to come down oh lord so you know basically joel was writing this and he's basically saying you know let your mighty ones come down to the lord so there's this battle that's going to be between god's army and the army of the nations which is the battle of armageddon where we come down on white horses and we go against their army okay and that's what this is talking about it says let the heathen be awakened and come up to the valley of jehoshavat for there will i sit to what judge all the heathen round about so i believe that's what this is talking about here as far as keeping silence because what there's going to be silence in heaven about the space of half an hour when he comes to start pouring out his wrath then you have after after he starts pouring out all his trumpets and all his vials then you're going to have the the the marriage supper of the lamb or the battle of armageddon as it's called and where the ending if you will the finale the final battle and so uh you see that definitely there go back to isaiah chapter 41 isaiah chapter 41 and i believe joel 3 really helps uh understand this too because notice what it says in verse uh five so isaiah 41 verse five keep the raptors back there was that that was that the mother baby room i thought so gotta keep them in there verse five it says the isle saw it and feared the ends of the earth were afraid drew near and came they helped everyone his neighbor and everyone said to his brother be of good courage okay so this really reminds me of joel chapter 3 where it's basically stating hey you know be of good courage be strong you know uh you heard up your loins like a man you know the lord's coming and the lord is saying you better get ready you better get your sword you better get your spear you better get all your mighty men because i'm coming after you and isn't that what happens in the battle of armageddon where all the kings of the east are gathering their armies together for that great battle now we know the end of it right they get dominated because jesus destroys them with the sword of his mouth now notice what it says in verse seven here now i i'm torn as far as what i believe this is talking about here but i'll give you my thoughts okay so in verse seven says so the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith and he that smoothest with the hammer him that smote the anvil saying it is ready for the soldering and he fastened it with nails that it should not be moved now we had just been talking about how joel house basically saying making swords and spears and at first glance it kind of seems like that's what it's talking about like making weapons but i think it's more so talking about molten images if you look at the context of the passage here when it's talking about a carpenter you're dealing with the fact that first what do they do they get wood and they grave this thing out of wood then they take gold and they smooth the gold over with a hammer right and then the thing that really makes me think that it's talking about graven images it says fasten it with nails that it should not be moved you know the idea is that these idols don't move they're just sitting there right and so um i believe what they're doing is they're going to battle they're afraid but they're trusting in their idols right they're encouraging themselves and their false gods okay and so that's what i believe that's talking about now let's step back for a second here in verse four okay verse four here's here's a a really interesting verse it says in verse four it says who hath wrought and done it calling generations from the beginning i the lord the first and with the last i am he now the thing that i want you to point out there because i'm going to show you other places where it says i'm the first and the last um obviously in the new testament in revelation we see that but notice it says the first and with the last i am he it's very interesting because in the beginning was the word the word was with god and the word was god see the first and the last is a name that i believe could apply to any one of the godhead you know as far as uh obviously god the father would be the first and last and god the son would be the first and last and god the holy spirit would be the first and last just as much as god could apply to either any of them right and uh same thing with the lord or jehovah like there's certain names ancient of days is even one of those um you know where it's used for the father and then sometimes it's used for the son and so the idea is that there's some names that are just names that are all-encompassing it could be talking about the individual or it could be talking about god as a whole right as far as the trinity um and i believe the first and the last is like that but at the same time notice that it says i am the first and with the last right the idea here is that you have uh two persons of the trinity right and now just to show you that in other places in chapter 44 go to isaiah chapter 44 and verse 6 i have a reason why i'm going to why this is interesting the way it words it in this chapter okay because everywhere else it doesn't say with the last it just says i am the first i am the last right so but in this chapter it does and there's i believe a cool reason uh or an interesting reason in this chapter why it says it that way um isaiah 44 and verse 6 it says thus says the lord the king of israel and his redeemer the lord of hosts i am the first and i am the last and beside me there is no god so when it says i am the first and last that's talking about god right so i obviously it says the lord all caps that means jehovah right and no go to chapter 48 chapter 48 and it says in verse 48 verse 12 chapter 48 verse 12 it says harken unto me o jacob and israel my called i am he i am the first i also am the last okay so we see that it says i am the first and last i am he those are two things i want you to notice there but go to revelation chapter one revelation chapter one just so you see that jesus is calling himself the first and the last that means he is calling him god and beside him there is no god okay because the father son the holy ghost that's who god is and notice in revelation chapter one verse 17 so this is a good way to prove the deity of jesus um i think there's faster ways right than doing this but i think it's pretty easy to say you know the bible says i am the first and the last and beside me there is no god jesus said i'm the first and the last and i am he that liveth notice what it says in verse uh so the end of verse 17 it says fear not i am the first and the last i am he that liveth and was dead and behold i'm alive forevermore amen and have the keys of hell and of death no one is going to say that that's the father talking well actually there's moveless that say that i guess but normal christians aren't going to say or people aren't going to usually say that this is even people that aren't saved aren't usually going to say that this is anything other than the sun right because the sun is the one that died on the cross and it says i am the first and the last i'm he that liveth and was dead so who was dead the first and the last if you don't believe that go to chapter two because it says i am the first and the last i'm he that liveth and was dead okay so um and then go to revelation chapter 22 revelation chapter 22 just to show you another place where um you know jesus is being called the first and last it says in verse 12 so revelation 22 in verse 12 says and behold i come quickly and my reward is with me to give every man according as his work shall be i am alpha and omega the beginning and the end the first and the last so that's clearly talking about jesus and it's showing you that he is god okay now go to john chapter 8 john chapter 8 and verse 23 john chapter 8 verse 23 so if that doesn't convince somebody okay that jesus god in that same verse where it says i am the first and with the last i am he notice that i am he notice what jesus is saying here to those that aren't believing on him in verse 23 so john chapter 8 verse 23 john chapter 8 verse 23 it says and he said unto them ye are from beneath i am from above ye are of this world i am not of this world so is he saying he's like a man that's just like was created no he is saying i'm from above i'm not from this world okay so the whole context of what he's about to say is the fact that he's god okay and notice what it says in verse 24 i said therefore unto you that ye shall die in your sins if you believe not that i am he ye shall die in your sins that's what jesus said so he's calling back obviously to uh isaiah where it's saying i am he and there's no god beside me i am not from the earth i'm from heaven i'm from above and notice keep reading there it says then said they unto him who art thou and jesus saith unto them even the same that i said unto you from the beginning i have many things to say and to judge of you but he that sent me is true and i speak to the world those things which i have heard of him they understood not that he spake to them of the father then said jesus unto them when you have lifted up the son of man then shall you know that i am he and that i do nothing of myself but as my father hath sent me i speak these things and he had sent he that sent me is with me the father hath not left me alone for i do always those things that please him now it's interesting because it keeps saying that i'm not alone the father's with me because it's interesting because in isaiah chapter 41 it says i the lord the first and with the last i am he and the idea here is that there's two persons you know the first and the last obviously they could both take those titles of the first and the last but i believe it's saying with the last i am he is is really he's calling back to this here it's like i i'm not doing this on myself i'm doing this of him that sent me and if you don't believe that okay if you don't think that that fits that go back to isaiah chapter 41 isaiah chapter 41 in verse 27 isaiah chapter 41 and verse 27 actually go to verse 26 first of all verse 26 it says who hath declared from the beginning that we may know and before time that we may say he is righteous yea there is none that showeth yea there is none that declareth yea there is none that heareth your words so he's talking about people not hearing his words people not knowing what his words are and the whole point that jesus is making in john chapter 8 is the fact that i'm declaring the father i speak the things of the father i'm always doing the you know the things that please him but notice in verse 27 the first shall say to zion now you won't see a second being mentioned here okay the point that i'm making here you know like it's like the first person will say this and then the second person will say that you know that's usually how you read that the first shall say to zion who's the first that's god okay so it's interesting because it says the first and with the last and it's saying the first shall say design and what's he going to say behold behold them i will give to jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings for i beheld and there was no man even among them and there was no counselor that when i asked of them could answer a word behold there are they are all vanity their works are nothing their molten images are wind and confusion so the first is sending the last right and the idea here is that the fact that in this chapter you see the father and the son you know where the father sending the son to bring good tidings you say well did he come to bring good tidings what was one of the first things that jesus said repent and believe the gospel right in his ministry what did he do he was a preacher of the gospel which is what glad tidings good tidings that's what he was sent to do and other places we we haven't got to yet in isaiah but it is basically saying i you know there was no intercessor you know he's basically saying i i looked and there was no man to intercede for them there's no man and it says my own arm brought salvation and we're going to see that later on spoiler alert and isaiah but this question of like i didn't see any counselor it kind of reminds you of i i see them as sheep having no shepherd but the first shall say to zion right and so it's interesting because everywhere else it says the first and last in this passage it says the first and with the last i am he and then it goes on to say at the end of the chapter the first shall say design i will give one that shall bring glad good tidings right and so i just think that's interesting how that all works together in this chapter and obviously works together with john 8 works together with revelation when the fact that jesus is the first and last he is the i am you know the i am right and and you know what's interesting too is at the end of that chapter which i didn't get to in john chapter 8 is one of my favorite passages where it says before abraham was i am right so in that passage you have i am he you have i am and you know just all time together there okay now go back to isaiah chapter 41 and verse 8 isaiah chapter 41 and verse 8 isaiah chapter 41 and verse 8 it says but thou israel art my servant jacob whom i have chosen the seed of abraham my friend thou whom i have taken from the ends of the earth and called thee from the chief men thereof and said unto thee thou art my servant i have chosen thee and not cast thee away so we're talking about israel here but the interesting thing here is that it says the seed of abraham my friend there's only two places in the bible where it calls abraham his friend so if in this place and then i believe it's in second chronicles it could be first chronicles though uh so it's in the chronicles okay that's a wide statement there um but it's obviously said here now that's where it says uh abraham believed god and was imputed on him for righteousness and he was called the friend of god and that's where it's written that he's called the friend of god is right here it says the seed of abraham my friend so god is calling abraham his friend but he's talking about the seed of abraham now go to galatians chapter 3 and i know i already hit on this um on sunday on the idea that the seed of abraham is talking about believers okay so when you look at this passage when he's given these promises he's not giving it to unbelievers okay because we're going to get into these promises of god being with us and god taking care of us and god helping us this is not to unbelievers that were just of the stock of israel okay this was to the seed of abraham and notice what it says uh and you know you could obviously cross reference the fact that when did it say you know that his his faith was perfected to be called the friend of god and i in genesis chapter 22 when he offered up his son isaac and that was when he confirmed it by note that it would be his seed isaac that you know christ would come right ultimately you know and and obviously he had already made that covenant with them and that was already going to happen but by two immutable things uh in which it was impossible for god to lie he made a strong consolation um and so the idea there is that um you know it's definitely sure now in galatians chapter 3 and verse 16 it says now that abraham and his seed were the promises made he saith not into seasons of many but as of one into thy seed which is christ so when we're talking about the seed of abraham we're talking about those that are of christ and in particularly if you said the seed of abraham you'd be talking about christ okay but notice what it says in verse 29 go down to verse 29 it says and if you be christ's then are you abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise because you're all children of god you're all children of god by faith in christ jesus it says right before that okay so we are all the seed of abraham by faith in christ jesus and go to romans chapter 9 romans chapter 9 is stating that that seed of abraham that he's talking about is the seed of promise that's the seed of isaac right now obviously uh jacob israel is the same person right so jacob was renamed israel and sometimes obviously jacob and israel could be talking about the nation of israel right so don't get me wrong i'm not saying like every time you see israel and every time you see jacob um that it's just talking about the man okay but in context you're dealing with these men or the men jacob and israel and abraham himself and the idea that that seed was going down the line okay and so you say well i thought isaac was the seed why is it talking about jacob well jacob was a believer isaac was a believer jacob was a believer and all those that believe down the line would be of his seed so it wouldn't be wrong to say that jacob is of the seed of abraham right or that isaac's of the seed of abraham now obviously uh there's pictures with isaac as being like christ and there's pictures of you know jacob and israel as far as worthy israel of god and all this other stuff right but in the end those men believed those men are saved those men would be of the seed of abraham spiritually speaking but notice what it says in roman chapter 9 and verse 3 roman chapter 9 verse 3 it says for i could wish that myself were a curse from christ for my brethren my kinsmen according to the flesh who are israelites so we are not talking about the one point i want to make here before we get into this passage is we are not talking about ishmaelites okay because i feel like the only way that zionists can get out of this passage right here is to somehow say that the children of the flesh here that we're going to talk about is talking about ishmael or something now we're talking about israelites so those that are his kinsmen according to the flesh who are israelites okay so we're not talking about you know like well the ishmaelites are the arabs you know and those are the ones that rub the flesh and because they were of agar and all this no agar which now is is jerusalem or jerusalem which now is and is in bondage with their children the bible says no those that are israelites of the flesh are in bondage like agar and jerusalem which now is that's what the bible teaches but no so i just want you to see that that we're talking about israelites of the flesh children of israel of the flesh and it says to whom pertaineth the adoption and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the law and the service of god and the promises whose are the fathers and of whom as concerning the flesh christ came who is overall god blessed forever amen so he's basically saying all these promises all the stuff was given to them the israelites according to the flesh and they were given to them and it says even concerning the flesh christ came that means christ came through their lineage okay that's what he's making the point here but it says not as though the word of god had taken none effect okay the point that he's making here is that they're not all saved they're not all going to receive that promise okay and he's making a point that doesn't mean that god lied right because that's what people say well you know he promised to them right he promised that they would they would be blessed and they would you know have these inheritances and these promises and he's making a point it's not that god's word is taking none effect okay and here's why because it would take now if he was talking about all of israel as far as all the fleshly israel and everybody that was of that lineage of abraham that came from isaac then his word would have been of none effect right it would not have come true because not everybody believed okay not everybody was saved and the point that he's making here says for they are not all israel which are of israel pretty simple he's basically saying not all those that are of israel i'm sorry not all israel okay meaning that it's not you know the israel of god is not made up of just those that are of the seed of abraham okay and you know you want some more clarification on that it says neither because they are of the seed of they they neither because they are the seed of abraham are they all children now that's a strong statement right because we're talking about the seed of abraham but in this case we're talking about the physical seed of abraham so just because they're of the physical seed of abraham just because they're kinsmen according to the flesh that's what paul prefaced this whole thing with israelites that are kinsmen according to the flesh it says just because they're the seed of abraham it says it says not neither because they are the seed of abraham are they children but in isaac shall thy seed be called okay you're like wait a minute i thought i thought that you know if they're israelites then obviously they're of isaac i mean israel is the the child of isaac right so notice what it says in verse uh eight because it just clarifies it to the t that is they which are the children of the flesh these are not the children of god i don't think it could be any more clearer than that what are we talking about israelites who are according to the flesh right kinsmen according to the flesh he said these that are children of the flesh these are not the children of god okay and it says but the children of the promise are counted for the seed why because if you be christ then are you abraham's seed and you know what those that believe those that have faith are blessed with faith by abraham and so it's very clear that's what what it's talking about there so i wanted to preface that and you're like why did you go on to that you already hit on that on sunday because the next verses that we get to i want you to know that this is talking about god's people god's children okay these promises that he's going to give here which are really good promises okay and and just uh good comfort go to isaiah chapter 41 verse 10 isaiah chapter 41 verse 10 because you could read this and be like well you know that was cool that he was like that to you know it's that nation and listen there were saved people back in that nation in that day okay so this promise applied to them too okay i'm not saying that there was no one saved in israel back then but there was always just a remnant right i and roman chapter 9 hits that though israel be as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude a remnant shall be saved it's always been that way in elijah's day that there was a remnant according to the election of grace there was that seven thousand that didn't bow the knee to bail right that there not everybody was unsaved there was always a remnant but that's who the promises were too because the promises were not to abraham into his seeds as a many but to thy seed which is christ right so that those promises and this promise right here whether you're jew or gentile this is what this is who the promise is to if you believe on christ in verse 10 it says fear thou not for i am with thee be not dismayed for i am thy god i will strengthen thee yea i will help thee yea i will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness behold all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded they shall be as nothing and they that strive with thee shall perish thou shalt seek them and shall not find them even them that contended with thee they that war against thee shall be as nothing and as a thing of naught for i the lord thy god will hold thy right hand saying unto thee fear not i will help thee so the idea here is that he's just basically saying fear not i'm with thee i will help thee and i'm going to help you with i'm going to take you by the right hand now that's interesting you know i'll hold thy right hand because the bible says i have set the lord always before me because he is at my right hand i shall not be moved and so this concept of god being at your right hand and here it's saying he's going to take you by your right hand and he says that he's also going to uphold us with the right hand of his righteousness in verse 10 there so all these promises of fear thou not i am with thee these these are promises that we can hold true to as believers so you don't want to just read this and be like well that was cool for them right and it's funny because baptist preachers that are zionists will usually say well yeah this applies to us too it's like does it because i thought i thought there was a difference between israel and the gentiles how does that apply to us if that was the israel and to abraham is you know the seed of abraham well if you understand what that actually means and understand how the new testament puts so much clarity on this that back in that day that applied to believers you know who that applied to isaiah that applied to hezekiah that applied to all those that believed in god and it was imputed on them for righteousness and you know what these promises were given to them now go on from there in verse 14 it says fear not thou worm jacob that's interesting how it it uses that term you know and you know on the cross and i and in psalm 22 jesus said i am a worm and no man and the idea is that the fact of um you know nothing you know like fleshly speaking we're nothing you know in me dwelleth no good thing uh oh wretched man that i am who shall deliver me from the body of this death the idea is that you know if it's me i can do nothing you know fleshly speaking we could do nothing but it says fear not thou worm jacob and you men of israel i will help thee saith the lord and i redeemer the holy one of israel behold i will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth thou shalt thresh the mountains and beat them small and shalt make the hills as chaff thou shalt fan them and the wind shall carry them away and the whirlwind shall scatter them and now shall rejoice in the lord and shout glory in the holy one of israel when the poor and needy seek water there is none and there is none and their tongue fails for thirst i the lord will hear them i the god of israel will not forsake them i will open rivers in the high place in high places and fountains in the midst of the valleys i will make the wilderness a pool of water and the dry land springs of water i will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the shed of tree and the myrtle and the oil tree i will set the desert i will set in the desert the fir tree and the pine and the box tree together that they may see and know and consider and understand together that the hand of the lord hath done this and the holy one of israel hath created it so all these promises and the thing is that you have to understand here is that you're dealing with going through tribulation here right if you're saying fear thou not i am with thee the idea is that there's some troubles times that you're going through and when you're dealing with these times what you have to do is put your trust in the lord that he's going to take care of you and you say well how's he going to do it buy a cow right and you know uh which is jokingly always like we need to buy a cow you know if the great tribulation happens you know you're going to want that steak you know you're going to wish that you didn't just have beans and rice you had a cow there and we're joking about it i don't think she's joking about it i think she really wants a cow but but that being said i'm not against that i'm not against having things and having chickens and you know having homesteading it and having stuff that's available right but what i'm saying here is that god is able to make the wilderness a pool of water and it says it says the dry land springs of water so he's able to just you know if we're in the great tribulation and we needed food god could bring it to us and this promise applies to us you know if we fear not and we're uh living for him and we love him and you know the idea here is that you're dealing with like abraham thy friend right if you love god and keep his commandments he will take care of you because i've never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread and i don't believe it's going to stop when the great tribulation actually if anything it's probably going to be more miraculous it's probably going to be more wondrous as far as what he'll provide for us okay i'm not saying not to be ready i'm not saying not that's like saying you know well i'm going to have the lord protect me i'm not going to carry a gun well jesus said sell your garment and buy a sword so you don't want to take things too far okay be like i'm just not going to even like have anything you know i'm just not going to you know prepare it all for life okay i mean don't you buy groceries for the week you know like you prepare for a few days right i'm not saying to be a prepper okay i'm not one of those people who's like you need to be prepared for six months or whatever the case may be but the idea here is that what i want you to have solace in and the fact that god is stating hey i will take care of you i will help you you need water i'll give you water you say how's that going to happen he could cause it to rain right where you're at you could put a bucket right there and he could give you water if you wanted to i mean the bible i was just reading where it talks about how god he says i rained on one city and on the other city i didn't rain you know and so he's basically saying like i rained right here but not there and and the idea is that you know he can give you water he can give you food he can throw a deer right in front of you you can take that swamp donkey out dress it and eat it okay and so the idea here is that we're not to be afraid we're not to be afraid of what man can do unto us but i we're also not to be afraid and be like man how are we going to do it and just worry about what would happen if that went down you know god will take care of us god will take care of his people and we need to put our trust in that go to psalm 23 psalm 23 so when you know the world is is uh burning to the ground you know dc's being taken over by weird people and uh you know people with these horn things on their head i'm telling you there's a picture of it i'm pretty sure that guy was like a blm person or like a but uh when that type of stuff happens in our you know all this stuff falls apart listen i'm not afraid because i know god will take care of us but that's why it's so important listen you know a lot of these promises are not just to a christian you know just a believer now obviously you have have any have eternal life okay i'm not saying like you'll lose your salvation but what i'm saying is that if you're living for god and you're keeping his word these promises that i will keep you from the hour of temptation that you'll endure until the end that you'll as far as being saved physically like all these promises of you know these promises here i believe that that is stating that if we're living for god loving him keeping his commandments he will do that but that takes faith to do that because in those times of tribulation and trouble those are the times you're gonna be like well i should probably back off right i should probably back off because they're gonna come after me no that's when you need to dig in that's when you dig your heels in and say you know what no i'm gonna trust in the promises of god and go to uh psalm 23 this is uh this is a famous passage if you don't say the famous passage you start reading your bible okay but psalms 23 is the lord is my shepherd okay the lord is my shepherd i shall not want he maketh me to lie down in green pastures he leadeth me beside the still waters he restoreth my soul he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake yea though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death i will fear no evil why for thou art with me thy broad night staff they comfort me thou preparest the table before me in the presence of mine enemies thou anointest my head with oil my cup runneth over surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and i will dwell in the house of the lord forever that is such a great psalm when you think about all those details there i mean in the end we're going to dwell in the house of the lord forever i mean if there's anything to be happy about is the fact that we have eternal life and this this place is not our home this is not the end but it says that he prepares the table before me in the presence of mine enemies you know when you're in great tribulation you're in that listen god can prepare you a table and fill you in that time in their presence don't believe me read about jeremiah and his end read about read about in acts and how god busted people out of prison and you know paul even at the end of his life he says you know he delivered me out of the mouth of the lion yeah he'll deliver me from every evil and we need to have that that faith not be afraid and and listen i believe god will take care of us i believe you're serving god you want to die show me someone in the bible that was serving god faithfully but then died for it besides obviously the lord jesus christ right that didn't mess up okay because obviously jesus jesus was dying for the sins of the world and then like samson you know like he messed up right or someone else messed up but you won't see a prophet that is you know doing what god tells them to do and then they're killed for it okay now i do believe that you can choose that okay i'm not saying it can't happen okay because i believe that some didn't accept deliverance that they might have a better resurrection it wasn't that you know god wouldn't come through for them it was the fact that they're like no i'll take it because i want a better resurrection so that could happen and you could choose that and you know i wouldn't blame you okay if you chose that but ultimately you know all these these men of god that i see in the bible that had people after them trying to kill them god wouldn't let it happen but the people that but there were prophets that were afraid and they did die okay not not bad men but they were afraid and they ended up dying and they were killed by the sword and so you know what the bible says fear not rhyme with thee so you know it's easy to say that it's another thing to do it when you're in it okay so that's why you got to prepare your heart now you have to make up your mind now that's what i'm going to do it's not going to be easy it's not going to be this you'll be like man this is an easy choice to make right here no because your flesh is going to want to do the opposite now the last thing i want to show you here i'm going to isaiah chapter 41 verse 25 here isaiah chapter 41 verse 25 so i know i was kind of going out of order here but there's just different points i wanted to make and sometimes in in these chapters it'll kind of come back to a point and so i kind of want to just hit on a subject at a time if you will so isaiah 41 verse 25 here it says in verse 25 i have raised up one from the north and he shall come from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name he shall come upon princes as upon mortar he and as the potter treadeth the clay now there's a couple ways that you could probably think about what this is talking about i'm going to give my reasonings so obviously if you were to think about this as far as israel and isaiah coming after them right or even babylon coming they're all coming from the north okay so a lot of times you see this army coming from the north now i could see it more so with babylon because isaiah i don't i don't believe it it was like a wicked person because the thing that you get caught here or the thing that's catching your your ears is where it says from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name okay this person that's come this one that's coming from the north okay so you could make the argument well maybe it's Nebuchadnezzar right because it literally calls Nebuchadnezzar my servant but here's the thing Nebuchadnezzar wasn't saved when he went and took out jerusalem okay i believe he did get saved later on okay but i don't believe he was saved when he because he was talking about the the spirit of the holy gods and you know all this other stuff that was not a believer okay so i believe actually this is talking about jesus okay now i'm getting my reasons it says that i have raised up one from the north and he shall come okay and also it says the potter treadeth the clay okay so i am the potter you are the clay so obviously there's a reference there i'm not saying it can't be used for someone else okay but it's a very strong reference that you would see in jeremiah or you'd see in romans chapter 9 dealing with the lord okay now go to job chapter 26 job chapter 26 and this is why i believe it would be saying that the lord is coming from the north okay jobe 26 and verse seven it says he stretches out the north over the empty place and hangeth the earth upon nothing so it talks about the north over the empty place now if you think about what's outer space but an empty place right and he spread it the north over the empty place and it seems to imply obviously if you were to look at a globe the north is on top right so he's hanging it and you're looking at it from the top right or you're looking at it to where it's the north is top south is bottom right and so he hangeth the the the north over the empty place well go to go to psalm 75 and this is just a thought this is just something i have always thought of when it comes to these verses here um as far as the lord coming from the north so first of all i want you to see that he stretches out the north over the empty place and hangeth the earth upon nothing so it implies that the north is above the earth okay because obviously if you're looking at the globe locally speaking you know the north it goes up to the north pole right um but it seems to be implying that north would be like above the if you were to go above the earth uh into the empty place above that he spread the north above the empty place um but in psalm 75 here in verse 6 psalm 75 verse 6 says for promotion cometh neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south notice one that's missing but god is the judge he put it down one and set it up another so uh it seems to be that god is coming from the north okay so i know it takes some logic here and i'm not saying like if you have a different interpretation on this verse in isaiah 41 but him saying i've raised up one from the north i think it's it wouldn't be against scripture to say that that's where the lord's coming from okay coming from the north um so don't get too detailed into that and be like well how does that work and you're trying to look at well how's heaven work is it go around is it up here you know i wouldn't get too involved in that because the bible doesn't like explicitly tell us how heaven is okay as far as does heaven encompass the whole universe is it just in one spot above the universe or whatever i'm not here to tell you that i'm here to say that the bible says that promotion doesn't come from the east west or south but it comes from god so what direction would that be okay so um anyway just something interesting to think about there um also in malachi it says that the son of righteousness uh it talks about but unto you that fear my name shall the son of righteousness arise with healing in his we in his wings and he shall go forth and grow up as calves of the stall and you shall tread down the wicked for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that i shall do this at the lord of hosts so and we're talking about you know the day of the lord we're talking about the lord coming later on it talks about elijah coming before the great and terrible day of the lord um and so the idea that uh he is from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name and just some references in there that could just be meaning that from the moment he wakes up he's calling on my name you know i mean that that would make sense you know from morning to evening he's calling upon my name or the fact that he is the son of righteousness right and he's arising with healing in his wings he also rose from the dead right there's there's a lot that you could look into that but um anyway uh that's isaiah 41 a lot of different things obviously that we got into there um but i did want you to see uh i am the first i'm with the last it's interesting how it uses that terminology because in the beginning was the word and the word was with god and the word was god and the same was in the in the beginning with god and the first said unto zion would say shall say unto zion uh you know basically that i'm going to send uh one that brings good tidings so i just thought that was interesting i've never i've never seen that before where i've really just kind of looked at that as far as who's talking the first is talking right and he's with the last now that's just some interesting stuff that i saw obviously uh time with family to go into other stuff in this passage but you know what we got to make it one sermon a night that's my goal so let's end with a word of prayer daily father we thank you for tonight thank you for your word thank you for the book of isaiah and lord truthfully uh your word is infinite and we could spend forever in the book of isaiah just going over all the little details but lord we just thank you for the time that we can go through each chapter and and glean uh things uh that we see and ultimately lord i just pray to help us to use it uh and especially the passage of these promises that you'll be with us lord and that we should not fear but uh to be comforted that you're with us and that you'll help us and we love you and pray in jesus christ's name amen
