Good evening, tonight we're in Leviticus chapter 2. Leviticus chapter 2, the Bible reads, And when any will offer a meat offering unto the Lord, his offering shall be a fine flour, and he shall pour oil upon it and put frankincense thereon. And he shall bring unto Aaron's sons the priests, and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof, and the priests shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire of a sweet savour unto the Lord. And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons, it is the thing most holy of the offerings of the Lord made by fire. And if thou bring an oblation of the meat offering, bacon in an oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil. And if thy oblation be a meat offering, bacon in a pan, it shall be of fine flour unleavened mingled with oil. And if thy oblation be a meat offering, bacon in the frying pan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil. And thou shalt bring the meat offering that is made of these things unto the Lord, and when it is presented unto the priest, he shall bring it unto the altar. And the priest shall take from the meat offering a memorial thereof, and shall burn it upon the altar, it is an offering made by fire of a sweet savour unto the Lord. And that which is left of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons, it is the thing most holy of the offerings of the Lord made by fire. No meat offering which he shall bring unto the Lord shall be made with leaven, for he shall burn no leaven nor any honey in any offering of the Lord made by fire. As for the oblation of the firstfruits, he shall offer them unto the Lord, but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour. And every oblation of thy meat offering shall thou season with salt, neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering, with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt. And if thou offer a meat offering of thy firstfruits unto the Lord, thou shalt offer for the meat offering of thy firstfruits green ears of corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears. And that shalt put oil upon it, and lay frankincense thereon, it is a meat offering, and the priest shall burn the memorial of it, part of the beaten corn thereof, and part of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof, it is an offering made by fire unto the Lord. Let's pray. Dear Lord God, just thank you for allowing us to safely come to your house, Lord. Just thank you for the King James Bible, Lord. We pray that you bless pastors as he preaches out of your word tonight, Lord, and that us in the congregation can learn new truths from your word, Lord, and come away from it changed, Lord. We pray this all in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Okay, we're in Leviticus chapter 2 this evening, and tonight I'm continuing from my morning sermon on the Levitical offerings. Of course, this morning I was only able to cover the first offering, which is the burnt offering. Tonight I'm going to cover the meat, peace, sin, and trespass offerings. Let me give you a little bit of review from this morning to get us caught up and help us to kind of get into chapter 2 here. First and foremost, we're talking about this morning that the Book of Leviticus is obviously referring to the law of the Levites that is essentially composed of ceremonial, purity, dietary, moral, and sacrificial laws. These particular duties were only designated for the tribe of Levi to carry out, and specifically the offerings were only for the house of Aaron. The accoutrements and the building, constructing, and deconstructing of the tabernacle were given to the Kohathites, the Gershonites, and the Mararites. And the essential teaching there is that the only ones designated to even carry out the work of the Lord are those who are part of the priesthood. And obviously, I didn't mention this in the morning, but tonight we can pretty much surmise that the way we can apply that to the New Testament is that the only ones that should be carrying out the work of the Lord are saved people. Because in the New Testament, the priesthood is made up of all believers. The Bible talks about the royal priesthood, the holy nation, referring to those who have believed on Jesus Christ. They're the ones designated to carry out the work of the Lord, and so even though we're not part of the physical house of Aaron, the physical house of the Kohathites, the Gershonites, and the Mararites, we're part of that spiritual house, that spiritual building that's made up of all believers through their faith in Jesus Christ. I also mentioned the fact that the offerings were a temporary religious rite. There's only a small window of time when these things should have been carried out, and that is when they go into the promised land, up until the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, that was the window of time where these specific commandments were to be kept. Of course, with the exclusion of the moral laws. The moral laws existed prior to the Levitical law being instituted, and they will exist from here on out, and so that's important to know. Of course, tonight we're going to go over the last four offerings, but let me just give you a little bit of review regarding the burnt offering. We said that the burnt offering was an offering given to atone for sin, and there were specific rules, conditions that needed to be followed. We said that it was supposed to be a male without defect, meaning that the bullock that they were supposed to bring unto the Lord can only be a male, no female, but also it could not have any visible flaws. It couldn't have any blemishes or spot. That was supposed to symbolize the perfection of Jesus Christ, the fact that he is the Lamb of God who is without spot, without blemish. He is sinless. We also said that the blood that was drained from the animal and sprinkled on the altar by the priest obviously pictures the blood of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us in Hebrew chapter 9 that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission or forgiveness of sins. We also talked about the fact that the bullock was supposed to be placed on wood, obviously signifying the fact that the sacrifice of the Lamb, which is Jesus Christ, was placed on the cross, which is also made of wood, ultimately making him the curse for us, because cursed is every man that hangeth on a tree. We also talked about the fact that it was supposed to be burned with fire. And that is the most notable aspect of the burnt offering is the fact that it was placed on fire, allowed to be burned from the morning until evening, and that obviously signifies the fact that Jesus Christ went to hell for three days and three nights. His soul was made an offering for us. We talked about the fact that the animal's inward parts were to be washed with water, signifying the fact that Jesus Christ was sanctified through the word of God. It was to be a sweet savor unto the Lord, just as the sacrifice was a sweet savor unto the Lord. It placated the Lord, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, that is. And then lastly, that the hide or the skin of the offering was to be removed and given to the priest, signifying the fact that when we get saved, when we believe on Jesus Christ, the righteousness, the righteous garment of Jesus Christ is given unto us. When the Lord looks upon us, he doesn't see us through our own righteousness, but through rather the righteous garment of Jesus Christ. But even thereafter, we as Christians have the responsibility to put on Jesus Christ, meaning to walk in the spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh, etc. Now tonight, we're going to go over the last couple offerings. The first one we're going to cover here is the meat offering. Look at Leviticus chapter two and verse number one. It says when any will offer a meat offering unto the Lord, his offering shall be a fine flour and he shall pour oil upon it and put frankincense thereon. And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons, the priest, and he shall take there out his handful of the flour thereof and of the oil thereof with all the frankincense thereof. And the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar to be an offering made by fire of a sweet savor unto the Lord. And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons. It is the thing most holy of the offerings of the Lord made by fire. So this particular offering, known as the meat offering, was actually given to essentially express thanksgiving. And again, this actually still falls under the category of being a voluntary free will offering, right? So this wasn't mandatory for people to do, but obviously, if someone just felt a sense of gratitude, they felt a sense of thanksgiving for all the resources that God has provided for them, then they were encouraged to obviously give this type of offering as a means to express gratitude or thanksgiving for God's provision, acknowledging that God has provided for them throughout the year. And it's also important to note that this offering was given alongside the burnt offering. So when the burnt offering was brought about, the bullock, this was also in conjunction offered as well, the meat offering. Now, let me also mention this because sometimes people get confused about this. Meat offering isn't referring to the animal flesh, the way we would consider to be meat today, right? We talk about, man, I want some good meat. We're thinking about flesh, we're thinking about beef, anything that comes from an animal. Meat in the Bible is just referring to food. And in this particular instance, it's actually referring to the grain, okay? And so, you know, when Jesus said, my meat is to do the will of him that sent me to finish his work, it's referring to the fact that his food, spiritual food that is, is to do the work of the Lord. So meat and food are kind of used interchangeably in the Bible. Now, unlike the burnt offering, there was a little more leniency with the meat offering and then ultimately a portion of this was given unto the priest that had to be eaten within the courts. And just as the burnt offering, when we read about it today, this morning, pictures the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the meat offering actually pictures or symbolizes the perfect life of Jesus Christ. So the burnt offering pictures the perfect death of Christ, the meat offering pictures the perfect life of the Lord. So let's look at the instructions regarding the meat offering and what they entail and what they symbolize. First and foremost, we see that it was supposed to be offered as an unleavened offering, meaning without yeast, right? Look at verse 4 of Leviticus 2, it says, and if thou bring an oblation, by the way, an oblation is just another way of saying an offering that which you are presenting, if thou bring an oblation of a meat offering, bacon in the oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil or unleavened wafers anointed with oil. And obviously, we can pretty much right off the bat see how this pictures Jesus Christ since Jesus is the bread of life, right? And often in the Bible, leaven is a picture of what? It's a picture of sin. We think of the most notable portion of scripture in the New Testament dealing with this. 1 Corinthians 5 talks about a little leaven, leavening the whole lump, meaning that a little sin can cause sin to permeate in a church. And not every instance where leaven is mentioned is it referring to sin, but the majority of them are. And so we see here that when this offering was given, he had to make sure that it wasn't leaven, meaning that there was no sin pictured involved. So Jesus Christ is that unleavened bread of life. Look at John chapter six, John chapter six, if you would, John chapter number six and verse 33. And hold your place during Leviticus two because we're going to come back to that and then jump back to John chapter six. Look at John six verse 33 says, For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven and giveth life into the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore, give us this bread. Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life. He that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. So we see here that when the meat offering was given, one of the stipulations, the conditions that were involved is that the cake that was baked should not be leavened. Another thing that we see in Leviticus chapter two regarding the meat offering is that it was eaten by the priest. You don't have to turn there, but Leviticus two six says this, and the priest shall take from the meat offering a memorial thereof and shall burn it upon the altar. It is an offering made by fire of a sweet savour unto the Lord, and that which is left of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons. It is the thing most holy of the offerings of the Lord made by fire. Now, let me just mention this briefly before I get into the spiritual significance of this. In the Old Testament, the priesthood that was essentially their full time job. And so obviously they needed provisions. They needed housing. They needed sustenance in order to carry out the work of God because they weren't necessarily working other jobs, right? They weren't necessarily merchants. They weren't about they weren't shepherds caring about cattle. Their job was strictly to focus on the offerings, the tabernacle, things of that nature. And so when these offerings were given, though there is a lot of spiritual significance to it, though it was a form of worship. It was also a way that you can provide for the Levites who were doing this full time. And in fact, in First Corinthians Chapter nine, we see that this principle actually carries over to the New Testament because just as the Levites are the ones responsible for not only teaching the word of God, but also carrying out the duties of the tabernacle and the sacrifices, we see that the New Testament teaches that pastors, missionaries and evangelists essentially fulfill that same role. As we take care of the house of God, the Bible says that we can live of the gospel since our full time job is to teach God's word and feed the sheep, feed the flocks of God and do the work of the ministry. First Corinthians nine, you don't have to turn there, verse 13 says, Do you not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? And who is he referring to? He's referring to those Levites. He's referring to the house of Aaron. He's referring to the Kohathites, the Gershonites, the Mararites. These are people who are ministering about the holy things. They're carrying the Ark of the Covenant, the showbread or deconstructing the tabernacle, constructing it. They're carrying out the responsibilities of the offerings. Therefore, it tells us that they live of the things of the temple. They need the things of the temple in order to sustain them and their families. Because, by the way, the priests in the Old Testament had children because they were married. Okay, unlike these priests today in the Roman Catholic Church that have taken the abstinence valve for whatever reason, where do they even get that from? Like, oh, well, priests are in the Bible. That's funny because every single priest in the Old Testament was actually married and had children. Okay, and in fact, it was almost a requirement. We can't say it was a requirement, but it was very much traditional for them to have families because they had to pass on that responsibility to their children. We have Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, who's of the descendants of Aaron, right? So, when Aaron passed off the scene, the next son would take over and essentially fulfill the role of that priest. And so, you know, this priesthood of the Roman Catholic Church are just a bunch of pedophiles and false prophets. Whereas, the priests that we see in the Old Testament actually were married and, you know, they didn't observe Good Friday or whatever, and they didn't wear a Band-Aid on their neck or whatever. You know, they actually had wives and children, families that they had to take care of. And, by the way, the New Testament doesn't have that Old Testament priesthood. The priesthood is just made up of all believers. So, it's not a specific office in the local New Testament church. The only offices that are mentioned are pastors and deacons, bishops and deacons, right? Elders and deacons are legitimately the only offices that are mentioned. And, of course, by proxy, you can say evangelists as well. The priesthood, the way the Roman Catholic Church puts it forward, doesn't even exist in the Bible. Something that's completely made up. And, if you were to reference the Catholic Bible, you'll see how they perverted God's word just numerously. But, specifically regarding the bishop, the elder, the pastor, they replaced that with the priests, okay? Which is not even found in the underlying Greek text, but it doesn't matter to the Roman Catholic Church because they just like to prefer God's word and just believe me because I said so type of ordeal there. But, I digress. The point that I'm making here is the Bible's teaching us in 1 Corinthians 9 that the offices of the local New Testament church and how to provide for those fulfilling that position, you know, the principle is still the same from the Old Testament. So, that strategy or that system from the Old Testament is carried over into the new with the house of God, which is the church of God, the pillar and ground of truth. It tells us, and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar. So, here we could say that, you know, those who were of the Kohathites, the Gershonites, the Mararites, they're not the ones ministering of the altar because the ones who are ministering of the altar are who? Are of the house of Aaron. The ones of the house of Aaron are fulfilling kind of a greater duty with the sacrifices, but it's the same thing in a local New Testament church, right? You know, myself, I'm a pastor, the senior pastor of First Works Baptist Church, but we also have Brother Ulysses Hernandez who is the evangelist of the church, okay, who essentially takes care of the administrative work of the church. He could be considered kind of like the Gershonites, the Mararites, you know, making sure that the Baptist tree stays ice cold, amen? I'm just kidding. But, you know, he would be considered the person who ministers about the holy things in the temple, whereas the pastor can be compared to those who wait at the altar. Regardless of what it is, both of them are partakers of the altar and of the temple. And he even goes on to say, even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. There goes that principle there. That's important to note because you have churches today like, oh, pastors shouldn't be, you know, on the payroll of the church and, you know, they should not live of the gospel where it literally says that they live of the gospel. How do you excuse this verse right here? Now, look at John chapter six here with the previous point about the meat offering being eaten by the priest. It says in verse 48, I am the bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven that a man may eat thereof and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever. And the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. Now, let me just pause here and mention the fact that obviously we're looking at this or interpreting this in light of Leviticus chapter two because of the meat offering, which is fine flour, you know, bread, cake mingled with oil, etc. and how this pictures Jesus Christ because he is that bread of life that isn't leavened, right? He is unleavened. But, you know, this is obviously picturing salvation as well. And again, I'm not picking on the Catholics, but I am picking on the Catholics because this is a major chapter that they focus on, okay, to teach this false cannibalistic doctrine, and that's exactly what it is, of transubstantiation, okay? Whenever someone throws a word out like that, you just question it immediately. What do you mean trans? You know, first of all, trans is not, you know, it's questionable, but transubstantiation is this teaching that when the Catholics participate in what they refer to as the Eucharist, which is the bread and the wine, which by the way is literal wine, alcoholic wine that they're drinking, when they participated that and they consumed the bread and the wine that it literally becomes the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ, okay? And they say all kinds of stupid things to try to excuse that. Well, it's not literally, it's just by accident, I think they call it by accident or something like that. Basically, it's just like, well, it does become the flesh and blood, but not like literally flesh and blood, but it is the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ nonetheless. And let me explain to you why, because if you look this up, this is exactly what they say. I mean, that one Bozo, the voice of reasons idiot, this is literally what he said when he was responding to me. But let me explain to you why they say, well, it doesn't literally become the blood and body of Jesus Christ. But it is, but it's not literally. I'm going to explain to you why. Because if you're to take a sample of their droppings, you would say there's no flesh or blood in this, some form and substance of someone's flesh or blood, right? What is it? It was a cracker and then alcohol is what it was. So they want to say that it's literally his flesh and blood, but they can't really say it literally becomes the flesh and blood because of the fact that they obviously understand that if they were to take samples of what they defecated, they would see, oh, this isn't literally flesh and blood, okay? But they'll pervert John chapter 6 into thinking that, to interpret it as such that, well, he's saying he's the bread of life, so we have to eat him. We have to drink his blood, drink his flesh, or eat his flesh, drink his blood. Now, what's interesting about this is that, look at verse 52, it says, the Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, how can this man give us his flesh to eat? Now, who are the ones who are having the Catholic interpretation? The Jews, right? It's not the believers because the Apostle Peter later on says, to whom shall we go, thou hast the words of eternal life, and we believe and are sure that thou art the Christ, the Son, and the living God. And in that entire confession, he doesn't say, well, to whom shall we go, thou art the Eucharist. And we believe that if we eat your flesh and drink your blood, then we'll be saved. Now, he says, thou art the Christ, the Son, and the living God. You know, he makes the biblical profession of what salvation is, right? But they're the ones who are like, how can this man give us his flesh to eat? They're taking this literal interpretation of this passage, which is what the Catholics are doing. Verse 53 says, then Jesus said unto them, verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. There you go! I knew it! I knew it! He says, whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. So they're like, oh, little Bruce. This is how they condescending like to talk to me online. Oh, Brucey, little Bruce. Don't you read verse 54? It literally says if you eat his flesh and drink his blood, you have eternal life. You know, case closed. Well, little Catholic. Little pappist. Little pappy. You know, there's something called context, right? And if we don't use context, then you can use any verse to teach pretty much anything, okay? Look at verse 40, because we need to interpret this in its context. And verse 40, I don't know if you know this, but that would be considered context. Verse 40 says, and this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone would see the Son and believeth on him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up at the last day. So verse 54 says if you eat his flesh, drink his blood, you have eternal life, he'll raise you up in the last day. Verse 40 says that if you believe on him, you'll have everlasting life, and you'll be raised up in the last day. What is it telling us? It's telling us that what Jesus means by eating his flesh and drinking his blood is that you believe on him. That's what it means, okay? Because he doesn't literally mean eating your flesh because guess what cannibalism is a sin, it's an abomination in the eyes of God. And drinking literal blood is actually an abomination in the eyes of God also because the blood is the life of the flesh, and he literally has commandments over and over again not to drink the blood, but somehow we're supposed to believe that Jesus Christ sanctioned the drinking of human divine blood or something like that. Nonsense. He's making a correlation here because he's gonna be giving of his flesh, he's gonna be giving of his blood, he's gonna shed his blood, he's gonna give of his body in order to provide salvation, and if we believe on his sacrifice, the fact that he died on the cross, guess what will be raised up in the last days? But Catholics are blind. They can't see that. They refuse to see it. Catholics will literally go to Mass every single Sunday to be saved. The Mass is all about getting saved. I don't know if you know this. For us, we congregate here to hear the preaching of God's word, to be edified in the things of God, to learn the Bible, to be edified so we can meet for the Master's use in the field and be good Christians and obey God. Nothing to do with salvation other than being apt to preach salvation. Whereas Catholics literally they're just like, it's all about the Mass because that's how we get saved is through the Eucharist. Well that's interesting because he literally says you'll never be hungry again. So why do you have to keep going back? You know, if you drink of his blood you'll never thirst again. Well that's funny, then why do you keep going back? And they literally believe this nonsensical doctrine called Epiclesis. Okay? What is Epiclesis? It's part of the Eucharist and what they'll say is they'll say when they hold up the bread they do that whole ritual they lift up their Eucharist, right? And they perform this prayer known as the Epiclesis and what that is, it's a prayer that invokes the Holy Spirit to come down from heaven upon the Eucharist and essentially turn that bread and that wine into the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ. I mean, just freaky stuff, right? But here's the thing when it comes to Catholics and I've said this before and I'll say it again and that is that Catholics literally believe everything that is just contrary to the Bible. It's kind of like the it's just like the beginner's guide. You know, if you ever want to get a Christian to just learn how to debunk certain false doctrines just give them to Catholics because it's so easy. Because they literally teach and believe everything that is contrary to the Word of God. You know? Especially when it comes to this whole Epiclesis thing because remember, they have to pray to bring down the Holy Spirit upon that Eucharist to turn it into the flesh of Jesus Christ. But what does the Bible say? In Romans chapter 10, it says that the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise. Say not in thine heart who shall ascend up into heaven to bring Christ down from above or who shall descend into the deep? That is to bring up Christ again from the dead. But what say that the Bible talks about that the Word is nigh thee, even the Word of faith it's in thine mouth and in thine heart which is the word of faith which we preach unto you that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart, that God have raised thee for thither thou shalt be saved. So isn't it interesting that they pervert that and say no, we have to invoke the Holy Spirit to come upon the Eucharist so we can be saved whereas the Bible says you don't have to descend, you know, bring anybody down from above. You don't have to bring up Christ again from the dead. Why? The Word is nigh thee, even the thine mouth. You can literally call upon the name of the Lord right here, not in mass not in some geographic location not consume some bread not consume some alcoholic beverage you can literally just believe in the Lord Jesus Christ call upon his name and be saved. And so this is what the meat offering essentially is entailing is that unleavened bread now I need to hasten because I got on the Catholics a little too long there but it's necessary because I hate Catholicism you know I was a Catholic I went to Catholic school and you know I was a Catholic for many years I went to Catholic mass for Easter and Christmas as a good Catholic should just kidding and you know but you know they're lost you know they believe false doctrine and they are going to go to hell unless they believe on Jesus Christ exclusively and reject the Catholic manner of salvation okay and so we see here that the meat offering was to be unleavened it was to be eaten by the priest and it was to be mingled with oil look at Leviticus chapter 2 verse number 5 it says and if thy oblation be a meat offering bacon and a pan it shall be a fine flour unleavened mingled with oil and of course oil in the Bible is a representation of the Holy Spirit that's often what it's used for symbolizes is the anointing of the Holy Ghost let me read to you from John chapter 3 verse 33 it says in other words Jesus Christ was just filled with the fullness of the Holy Spirit he was mingled so to speak with oil the Bible also says in Luke 14 verse 18 the Spirit of the Lord is upon me he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor so notice that it says that the Spirit of the Lord is upon him and then it says that he's anointed that phrase anointing is often used in conjunction with oil right so the Spirit of the Lord pictures that oil that came upon the Lord Jesus Christ to preach the gospel get people saved last verse here in Hebrews chapter 1 and verse number 8 says but unto the son he saith thy throne O God is forever and ever a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom thou hast loved righteousness and hated iniquity therefore God even thy God hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows go to Numbers chapter 15 Numbers chapter 15 hold your place around Leviticus Numbers chapter 15 we see that it was supposed to be unleavened it was eaten by the priest it was mingled with oil but it was also offered with frankincense you're in Numbers 15 I'm going to read to you from Leviticus 2 verse 1 it says when any will offer a meat offering unto the Lord his offering shall be a fine flour he shall pour oil upon it and put frankincense thereon and of course frankincense is essentially something that symbolizes deity this is why when the wise men came to Jesus Christ they brought gold, frankincense and myrrh signifying that he is God that he is deity so that one's pretty simple to see there and then lastly we see that it was often accompanied with a drink offering look at Numbers 15 verse 4 it says then shall he that offereth his offering unto the Lord bring a meat offering of a tenth deal flour mingled with the fourth part of a hint of oil and the fourth part of a hint of wine for a drink offering shalt thou prepare with the burnt offerings or sacrifice for one lamb now I don't have time to develop this but essentially what we see when it comes to the drink offering is that depending on the animal that they bring to burn there was a variation of the measure of the drink that was offered alongside with the meat offering and another thing I want to note here is that when the drink offering was given it's not the priest taking the drink offering and drinking it himself he participated in the meat offering but he himself did not drink of the drink offering it was actually poured upon the altar unto the Lord which is pretty significant if you think about it because when you have the burnt offering on the altar being sacrificed on the wood but then you also have the drink offering being poured out well in John chapter 19 when Jesus Christ is crucified on that wood they pierce his side and what happens out comes blood and water and so that is a picture of that as well. Now the main thing about the meat offering is this matter of just being thankful keep in mind that this is a voluntary offering and so when people were just swelled up with gratitude they were grateful for the great store they came in, for good health, for their livestock God has blessed their resources their finances greatly they wanted to express how grateful they were for that and now this was a means in which to do it now obviously this doesn't exist today but in fact you know the Bible talks about, let me read to you from Psalm 107 verse 22 The Bible also says in Hebrews 13 verse 14 by him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name so praise God that we live in the New Testament where we don't have, if we're feeling just gratitude we don't got to bring a livestock right we don't got to bring livestock and a meat offering and do these things, you know we can literally just speak in the New Testament we don't got to bring a livestock right and quite frankly we need more Christians to just express gratitude for the things that we have especially us in America you know we have so much to be thankful for if we're to just highlight just the spiritual blessings salvation, the Bible, church there's much to be grateful for but just how about just like the practical things good health right maybe if you drove here in a car amen you know if you say well I didn't drive here in a car someone drove me, amen right well you know it's just like I've had a rough week but hey if you're still alive and God is with you and you're being fed spiritually you have a local church of people that love you, you have a pastor there's so much to be grateful for and so what this what we can learn from the meat offering is that we need to give thanks to God not just personally in prayer but how about just praising God with others right talking to other members of the church talking about how grateful we are for what God has done in our lives so much negative talk out there there's so much you know gloom and doom out there there's so much political talk out there why don't we instead of just talking about all the policies and trump this and trump that why don't you actually talk about what God has done in your life why don't you offer the offering and sacrifice from the fruit of your lips of thanksgiving you know someone's going to come up to you and be like brother I'm thankful that Trump's deporting all these all these Mexicans amen praise God well you know at least you're giving thanks okay you know I'm just saying you know the Bible says that giving thanksgiving is the will of God for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus it's talking about giving thanks unto the Lord that's God's will for our lives it's to be a people of praise don't let the liberal churches hijack that practice amen with some false praise and false thanksgiving holding up their holy hands or whatever we actually know how to praise God and you know what we don't need smoke and mirrors and purple lights to do so we can literally go to our brothers and say praise God for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ I praise God for the fact that I'm saved man it's a blessing I got someone saved this week I got to preach the gospel to my friend church you know there's so much to be grateful for and that is the offering of thanksgiving the part of the meat offering go to Leviticus chapter 3 Leviticus chapter 3 I'm going to try to finish this tonight so I might go for like another hour or so hope you don't mind alright the next one is the peace offering so we covered the burnt offering the meat offering and now let's get into the peace offering I won't spend too much time on this but I do want to show you a little nugget of truth here let's look at verse number 1 so we see a lot of the similar instructions given for the burnt offering and of course the difference here is that this particular offering can be male or female the burnt offering was only supposed to be male this could be male or female now a couple things I want to mention regarding the peace offering is that if you've read Leviticus you'll notice this phrase the wave offering right and the heave offering you'll often see that in conjunction with the peace offering let me just explain what that means the peace offering was obviously something that was given unto the Lord but portions of it were also given unto the priest same principle as what we looked at in the meat offering and when it talks about the wave or the heave offering it's just referring to the gesture that was done with the portions that are given to the priest that would often take that portion put it over the altar and they would wave it from side to side signifying that this is something that is dedicated unto the Lord but is going to the priest and the heave offering is also something that would be of higher quality that they would essentially kind of like heave upward it would be like an upward gesture now this could be just speculation but it's kind of interesting that one is this way right and the other is this way over the altar you know that could signify the fact that this is an offering of the Lord Jesus Christ it's a cross you can see how that could apply now part of the peace offerings or free will offerings as we looked at this is something that was often given to conclude a vow so if someone were to take a Nazarite vow if you've read Numbers chapter 6 if they concluded that vow they would often conclude it with a peace offering it was just an offering you would give to say this is finished I completed my oath I completed my vow or to just again show thanksgiving for answered prayer there was just gratitude for something that God has done he answered your prayer people would often offer this peace offering and probably the most notable and significant peace offering in the Bible is the one that was done by Solomon in 1 Kings chapter 8 where he did a peace offering of 22,000 what was it 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep that's a lot right and again this isn't mandatory but this is something he did at the dedication of the temple he was grateful he had gratitude and he's just like let's just slaughter all these animals just to show the Lord that we are grateful for him and the Lord wasn't up in heaven like oh this is a mistreatment of animals this is an excess you know that's just too much you know no he accepted that offering and so he was very much well pleased with that and so peace offering was often given as a means of thanksgiving or when you would conclude a certain vow the same procedures were done with the peace offerings with the burnt offering of course as I mentioned with the exception that it could be female not just a male now look at Leviticus go to Leviticus chapter 7 if you would and here's the little nugget that I want to share with you as I was studying this you can see how this can correlate here but what we see with the peace offering is that it was offered with unleavened cakes and wafers along with leavened bread of the sacrifice okay so this is pretty unique right because we see the other offerings where it's only unleavened but here it's unleavened cakes and wafers along with leavened bread look at Leviticus 7 verse 11 it says and this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings which he shall offer unto the Lord if he offer it for a thanksgiving then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil and unleavened wafers anointed with oil and cakes mingled with oil of fine flour fried besides the cakes he shall offer for his offering leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offering so that's pretty interesting now what's the significance of this well hold your place there and go to Ephesians if you would Ephesians chapter number 2 Ephesians chapter 2 let me just explain a couple things regarding that which is clean, unclean leavened and unleavened and what they signified in the Old Testament a lot of these laws especially regarding the dietary laws in the book of Leviticus you know essentially symbolize the fact that God's people were set apart right? they were quote unquote clean because they were set apart unto the Lord these were God's people and many of the surrounding nations could be considered what? they were like unclean people so many of the dietary laws were meant to essentially kind of symbolize that the fact that you know the swine and the unclean animal you know it's God forbidding his people to intermingle with the heathen unless they should learn their ways and manner of life and then forsake God right? and so you had all of these lists of unclean animals that God forbade his people to participate in and of course the clean animals would be considered those of the nation of Israel and the same principle applies with leaven and unleavened leaven meaning with sin unleavened meaning pure you know undefiled etc. now we see that in the New Testament that law was completely repealed we mentioned in the morning that with the bringing in of the New Testament by the death of Jesus Christ and the cross the dietary laws along with some of the other ones are completely done away with this is why Colossians 2 tells us let no man judge you therefore in meat or in drink or respect of the holy day or the Sabbath day or the new moon in other words like hey Colossians Gentile believers don't let any Judaizer come to your church and say you can't eat shrimp oh you guys don't observe oh you guys don't believe in Yeshua here you guys don't observe the Sabbath or whatever where's your where's your horn or whatever you know your what's that called the shofar where's your shofar see all that stuff is like oh I'm sorry this isn't a Jewish synagogue it says you know first works Baptist church we don't accept Judaizing in our church and in fact many of those things have been done away with okay and you say well you know you shouldn't you shouldn't really speak condescendingly about those things since they were instituted in the Old Testament yeah but here's the thing though an observance of those things is a rejection of Jesus Christ though because it's essentially saying oh Jesus Christ did not fulfill these things he has not died because he is not Messiah well Jesus yeah but Jesus actually fulfilled those yeah because he had not died yet of course Jesus Christ kept the Sabbath of course he kept the dietary laws of course he kept the Levitical laws because during his ministry he was still under that Old Testament period but once the death of Jesus Christ came on the cross those things were done away with and this is why in Acts chapter 10 you have the famous story of Peter right and he falls into a trance God sends down the sheet and at the four corners and they had all kinds of animals on there clean and unclean and God tells them rise Peter kill and eat you know you got Fogo to child there you know Texas to Brazil right there and he's like not so Lord for nothing common or unclean has ever entered into my mouth a little holier than now he's just he's more pure than God or something you know what I mean and then he's just like he's like without what God has cleansed that called not thou common and what does he mean by that he's saying look the gospel is supposed to go into the Gentiles I've cleansed them as in I've set them apart like salvation is to come to them as well they've also can obtain salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ because he's the savior of all men he's not willing to perish he's like don't call it common or unclean and of course Peter didn't get it first couple of times and then finally he does and that vision was given to him because Cornelius who would be considered an unclean person was going to come to him and then or not one of his guys was going to come to him and he was going to go to Cornelius house get him saved get his household saved and then realize oh wow the Gentiles they can get saved too he's like yeah what do you think the great commission was all about right and so I say that to say that when the Bible is talking about this peace offering the reason I believe it's referred to as a peace offering is because of this particular detail with the unleavened the unleavened cakes and unleavened wafers and the leavened bread and I believe this is actually signifying both Jew and Gentile being brought together at this particular sacrifice known as the peace offering look at Ephesians chapter 2 verse 11 the Apostle Paul addressing Gentile believers says in verse 11 wherefore remember that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision in the flesh made by hands you know basically saying like hey you guys have been called those who are uncircumcised by Jews because they are physically Jews by still keeping the law of circumcising according to the law of Moses verse 12 says that at the time ye were without Christ being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenant of promise having no hope and without God in the world but now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ so in this particular offering of the peace offering both that which is unleavened and leavened actually are come together over this particular sacrifice he says in verse 14 for he is our what peace you know like that peace offering who made both one and has broken down the middle wall partition between us having abolished in his flesh the enmity even the law of commandments contained in ordinances for to making himself of twain one new man so making what peace and that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross having slain enmity thereby so what do we see here we see that when the peace offering was given that contained the wave and the heave offering along with this we have this reconciliation of both that which is leavened and unleavened right so making peace through this sacrifice of Jesus Christ verse 17 and came and preached peace to you which were afar off and to them that were nine for through him we both have access by one spirit unto the father beautiful picture right so what do we learn here we're learning that yes we believe in replacement theology meaning that believers have replaced the physical nation of Israel as being God's chosen people but whoever is an Israelite as far as their ethnicity is concerned but they're a believer in Christ they're part of that spiritual nation as well they've also replaced that Israel as well okay they've been grandfathered in now they've replaced but another way of explaining this is that of twain one new man is made of both Jew and Gentile now God views both as just being a believer this is why we don't use Judeo-Christian okay you know how can you put Judeo which is a religion that hates the Lord Jesus Christ in front of Christian it's a complete oxymoron like well it's because we share the same morals and values oh really have you read the Talmud yeah explain to me how moral the Talmud is not very moral at all and in fact it's in stark contrast to the word of God okay and so there's no such thing as a Judeo-Christian yeah but Jews gave us the Bible not all of them no not everyone who's a Judah and in fact the vast majority of the prophets of the Old Testament you don't even know where they're from and the last time I checked is God who gave us the Bible right and by the way if they were Jews who gave us the Bible let me just say this they were believers and what does the Bible tell us look we're New Testament Christians the Bible tells us for in Christ Jesus there is neither Jew nor Gentile right neither bond nor free neither male nor female for ye are all one in Christ Jesus why cause that peace offering brought both leaven and unleavened together etcetera interesting go back to Leviticus if you would chapter 4 let me just complete the sermon in the next 45 minutes I'm just kidding actually it might be 45 I don't know we'll see alright here are the last two the last two offerings are the sin offering and the trespass offering and unlike the first three offerings these are actually mandatory okay so you have the burnt offering you have the meat offering you have the peace offering those were voluntary but the sin offering the trespass offering are actually mandatory so you know it's kind of like salvation you know you can choose to be saved by accepting that burnt sacrifice but once you're saved it's like you have to kind of offer this sin offering type of a thing okay and there's obviously different ways you can interpret this but that's one way you can do it so let's talk about the sin offering these were offerings that were presented due to sinning ignorantly okay these offerings were also by the way part of the day of atonement that's something you might have read or paid attention to when you're reading through Leviticus look at Leviticus chapter 4 verse 1 it says the Lord spake unto Moses saying speak unto the children of Israel saying if a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the Lord concerning things which ought not to be done and shall do any against and shall do against any of them if the priest that is anointed do sin according to the sin of the people then let him bring for his sin which he hath sinned a young bullock without blemish unto the Lord for a sin offering let me just mention real quick that when it says a soul shall sin through ignorance soul is just referring to a person even including their physical body we often think of a soul as that inanimate aspect of ourselves the spirit but there's instances in the Bible particularly in the book of Leviticus where soul is just synonymous with the body of person so what do we see here well the sin offering was given by everyone including the priest himself okay and this is essentially referring to the fact that you know there was an unintentional sin committed by the member of the children of Israel why? because of the fact that people just sin every single day sometimes they do it ignorantly they don't even know that they're breaking the commandments of the Lord they're sinning against God and so God wanted them to get that right with him therefore he gave the instructions of the sin offering and again it applied to the priest because yes even the priest were sinful as well they were not perfect you know they committed flaws they committed sins etcetera look at verse 6 we're going to see instructions regarding the blood it says and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and I want you to notice this and sprinkle of the blood seven times before the Lord before the veil of the sanctuary now what is this picture well when you look when you study numerology in the Bible there's certain numbers that keep popping up over and over again and they have certain significances to them right for example the number 6 is often the number of a man right you have the number 10 it's often the number of trial and tribulation along with 40 and when you look at the number 7 that's often a number of what? completion and or perfection you know God created the heaven and the earth in six literal days and he rested on the seventh denoting what? completion so when the Bible talks about here the sin offering being given the priest takes the blood and he sprinkles it how many times? seven times denoting perfect forgiveness complete forgiveness right now this is interesting because you know in the New Testament you have Peter going to Jesus who's the sacrifice and saying like you know if my brother offended me how off should I forgive him till seven times you know and then the Lord obviously says seven times seventy he's basically saying like perfectly is what you need to be doing so you see that principle being addressed there but the point is is that the blood of Jesus Christ forgives us completely perfectly and the reason that's important to know is because of the fact that you know a lot of churches out there think that you're only forgiven for past sins or something like oh you're not forgiven for future sins you're only forgiven for your past sins but it's pretty stupid if you think about it because every sin that we commit is future in respect to where Jesus Christ died on the cross two thousand years ago to us there's a past present and future but literally where Jesus Christ was in the first century A.D. everything that we've done is like future right but not only that we see the principle that the blood is sprinkled seven times meaning that God forgives us wholly and this is the famous what the famous passage in Romans 4 is talking about you know but to him that worketh not but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly his faith is counted for righteousness even as David described the blessedness of the man to whom the Lord imputeth righteousness without works saying blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven whose sins are covered blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin denoting the perfection the completion of forgiveness of past present and future sins this is why the sin offering often included the sprinkling of the blood seven times look at verse eleven if you would verse eleven it says in the skin of the bullock and all his flesh with his head and with his legs and his inwards and his dung even the whole bullock shall he carry forth without the camp unto a clean place where the ashes are poured out and burn him on the wood with fire where the ashes are poured out shall he be burnt so this is different from the other burnt offerings in that it was taken to be burned without the camp now go to Hebrew chapter 13 if you would Hebrew chapter 13 Hebrews 13 look what it says in verse number 10 it says we have an altar where of they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle for the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin are burned without the camp where for Jesus also that he might sanctify the people with his own blood suffered without the gate let us go forth there for the blood without the gate let us go forth there for unto him without the camp bearing his reproach so obviously the sin offering is to signify somewhat the location of how Jesus Christ died he died without the gate outside of the camp on Golgotha he was crucified on Mount Calvary just as the sacrifice was essentially taken outside the camp to be burned without the camp now the practical application that we can get for ourselves here is the fact that you know again as I mentioned the burn offering is something that we do for salvation right believe on the Lord but the sin offering is something that they God required for the children of Israel to do evening and morning okay something you have to do every single day like for example we wanted the forgiveness of sins when we got saved right we believed on Jesus Christ we got the forgiveness of sins past present and future but you know we also have to confess our sins daily to be right with God though not to stay saved not to maintain eternal life not to maintain our salvation but just to be right with God right and if we confess our sins he's faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness and quite frankly God mandates that of us right he wants us to be right with him every single day yeah it's great that we're saved but you know what let's move on to perfection and part of moving on to perfection when it comes to spiritual matters is staying right with God confessing our sins daily and asking the Lord you know Lord have I sinned against you unintentionally maybe there are sins you know especially if you're a new Christian you come across a verse in the Bible and it's just like oh whoa this is a sin I've been doing this this whole time and you're like I've unintentionally sinned against God not because I want to sin against God not because I thought it was great to do this I just didn't know you know what God says that's fine just confess it you confess it and he's faithful and just to cleanse us forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness it's a beautiful thing and you know what as a pastor I constantly tell people keep short accounts with God you know how short well in the Old Testament it was morning and evening so it's always good to wake up in the morning and just ask God to forgive you say Lord forgive me and just you know if there's anything you know search my heart examine me see if there be any wicked way in me cleanse your heart and at the end of the day because you know things happen throughout the day you might have given someone the thumbs up without using the thumb on the freeway or whatever you might have been in the flesh sometime throughout the day you might have done something you might have just walked in the old man and when you complete your day you should say Lord forgive me for that forgive me morning and evening keep short accounts with God so you can stay right with the Lord there's so much more I want to say about that but we need to move on to the Trespass offering now it's important to note that when we talk about the sin offering obviously all these offerings are for the Lord right but the sin offering deals primarily with your offenses to God things that you do ignorantly against the Lord you want to get it right and so you bring this animal you sacrifice it they sprinkle the blood they burn it without the camp you're forgiven now the Trespass offering the sin offering primarily focuses against sins against the Lord the Trespass offering on the other hand are sins against the Lord but also against your fellow man so now we know why these are mandatory it's mandatory to be right with God but you know what God mandates as well for you to be right with your brothers for you to be right with your fellow man right this is what the Trespass offering was for this was offered when someone unintentionally violated the holy things of the Lord of the house of God so those are obviously offenses towards the Lord and the purpose of this offering was essentially to make reparations so the major focus of the Trespass offering was to get right with God but also to get right with your fellow brethren but not just like I'm sorry right like I wronged you I'm sorry no you need to make reparations you need to confirm your love towards your brother you need to fix that situation that's what it was about okay and in fact you know some people could call the Trespass offering like a guilt offering and you can kind of see that because when you read about and when you read the entire chapter go to chapter 5 if you would when you read the entire chapter you see that most of the time when people were offering these Trespass offerings they felt bad about something they're like oh man I feel like I wronged in this area and so people were encouraged to bring a Trespass offering even if like you had a hint of thinking like oh man I did something wrong we'll just go offer a Trespass offering just to be safe right now one of these one of the reasons a Trespass offering was offered was if someone lied under oath look at verse 1 of chapter 5 it says if a soul sin and hear the voice of swearing and is a witness whether he had seen or known of it if he do not utter it then he shall bear his iniquity and what is that referring to just lying under oath you know that someone said something that was in violation of God's laws you're called to witness and you lie about it later on you're just like man I feel so bad that I've lied like I should not have done that what can I do to make it right and obviously this isn't referring to like murder or something like that okay this could be referring to other situations it doesn't really specify what circumstances we're talking about but I'm sure we can come up with the various circumstances where this would apply but you know someone lies about something and then they feel bad about it later they're encouraged to bring a a Trespass offering now how does this apply to us because we don't offer Trespass offerings well basically what this teaches us he that knoweth to do good and did it to not, to him it is sin you know the Bible talks about this sin is the transgression of the law but you know what sin is also when you know you're supposed to be doing something you don't do it hey when you know you're suppose to be in church and you're not in church when you know you're suppose to be reading your Bible you don't read it when you know you're suppose to be sowing and you don't sowing when you know you're suppose to be doing right And you're just like, I know this is what I should be doing, but I didn't do it. Guess what? You're not right with God. It's sin unto you, the Bible says. Not only that, we see that they were encouraged or commanded to bring a trespass offering if they were contaminated by touching an unclean thing. So if they touched a dead body, if they touched an unclean animal of sorts, they were commanded to go offer a trespass offering before they performed the duties or brought a sacrifice for worship, they were commanded to do this trespass offering. Another one would be a careless vow. So sometimes in the Old Testament, just like today, people make promises and they don't keep those promises. Maybe they don't keep them because they lack integrity, which by the way, God's people should not lack integrity. Fulfill your vows, amen, fulfill your oaths. But let's just be honest, maybe some of us, not maybe, some of us have done this, myself included, we have promised something, we've given an oath, but we forgot about it. How many can say I've done that before? Or is everyone here like, no, I keep every single oath? Sometimes in the Old Testament, people can make a careless vow, and they're like, oh, man, I didn't fulfill my vow. I violated this. Well, they are commanded to go and offer a trespass offering. Sometimes they can transgress by unintentionally using things that are dedicated unto God. And probably the most simplest example of this in the Old Testament would be that if they use their tithe for something other than the tithe, that would be a transgression against the tithe of the Lord, at which point they would offer a trespass offering to make that right. Now, here's the last one, look at verse 15. And they were also mandated to offer this trespass offering if they sinned against their fellow man deliberately. They intentionally sinned against their brothers. They were commanded to bring this offering. And the way this carried out is that restitution needed to be made before doing any other kind of offering. Or before doing the trespass offering, they needed to make restitution to the person they offended. Look at chapter 5, verse 15. It says, if a soul committed trespass and sinned through ignorance in the holy things of the Lord, then he shall bring for his trespass unto the Lord a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of silver after the shekel of the sanctuary for a trespass offering. And he shall make amends for the harm that he hath done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest, and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him. So what we see here is that the priest that would bring the animal to the priest, the priest valued the price of the ram. In other words, it had to be a certain price. If it wasn't, they needed to go get one. And the guilty party paid restitution in silver shekels. And in fact, it would give a fifth part of the appraised value to the priest. So if they lied to their neighbor, they borrowed some sort of, they borrowed a goat or whatever, and they ended up keeping the goat, they stole the goat, whatever, they would have to go make that right. And they would have to give the full amount of what that goat costs, okay, and then add a fifth part to that, okay, of what that particular animal was appraised for. So what is this? This is essentially making restitution, getting things right with their fellow man. Look at chapter six, if you would. Chapter six, and let's read a couple verses here in verse number one. It says, and the Lord's speaking to Moses, saying, If a soul sinned and committed trespass against the Lord, and lying to his neighbor in that which was delivered to him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or hath deceived his neighbor, or hath found that which was lost, and lieth concerning it, and swereth falsely, and any of these that a man doeth sinning therein, then it shall be because he hath sinned and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he had deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found, or all that about which he had sworn falsely, he shall even restore it in the principle, meaning what it's valued for, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, and give it unto him to whom it appertaineth in the day of his trespass offering, and he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord, and ram without blemish of the flock with thy estimation, meaning that the priest would have to look at the flock and say, all right, is it worth this much? Hey, this thing is a little light. This thing's not well fed. You need to go get that which is actually cost for a trespass offering. He says, by thy estimation for a trespass offering unto the priest, and the priest shall make an atonement for him, for before the Lord, et cetera. So what do we see here? We see that God was very much interested in the Israelites getting right with their brethren. Now, we don't have this today, right, as far as the offerings are concerned, but you know what God still commands of us is restitution, getting things right with your brethren. And let me just park it here for just like, just give me two minutes, all right? Just give me like two minutes. You know, I often, you know, I don't really, I can't say I discourage, but I don't encourage Christians of the same church to do business with each other, okay? You know, and obviously I don't command that, but if someone says, hey, you know, we're dealing with these large sums of money, we're working together, what do you think? I often say I typically would not just because there's just more room for offenses and error and things of that nature. And so, and when that happens, now, like you have this, you know, elephant in the room of this offense, financial offense or whatever, and then we got to deal with it and so on and so forth. Well, you know, that's happened in our church a couple of times. And you know what, people who do business with other people in church, meaning not in church, but with people of our church, folks, if you come out losing in that particular bargain or business deal, you know, first and foremost, if you come out losing, just come out losing. That's my philosophy. If you've been defrauded, just allow yourself to be defrauded, and maybe the lesson to you, you don't deal with this person. Now, obviously, if you're like, no, this is a huge offense, I want this person to pay me back, then obviously we can issue church discipline and do the Matthew 18 route, right? But here's the thing, you know, if you're that person who's doing shady dealings, you're not trustworthy, you don't have integrity, you need to restore that which you took away as a Christian, right? You need to restore, and may I say, not just the principle, but even the fifth part to it as well. You say, why is that? Because we ought to go the second mile, that's why. And it's your brother in Christ, and look, we've had this in the past, where people have done dealings with other people in our church, and they wronged them, and you know, thousands of dollars, tens of thousands of dollars were lost, and you know, they did not restore that, and that's wicked, my friends. That's super wicked, that's evil, you know, you're supposed to keep that value even until you're hurt, that's what the Bible teaches. And although we're not in the Old Testament, where we're offering these trespass offerings, you know what, the spirit of the law still exists today, and the spirit of the law is this, if you've wronged your brother, and you owe him 10 Gs, hey, pay him those 10 Gs, and add another fifth part to that I don't know how much that is, but I'm sure it's a lot, okay? But here's the thing is that, you know, and you might be dealing with a brother who's just like, you know what, you don't have to pay me, the apology is enough, let's just forget about the whole thing, you know, you can go like this, all right, but here's how to avoid just all that. Number one, just don't do business with each other. But if you're like, I'm just gonna risk it anyways, okay, that's fine, but just be ready to kiss that thing goodbye, because it's better to have gained thy brother than to lose your brother and be offended at their shady dealings, okay? And so, you know, there's a lot I can say about that, but you know, this is still in existence today, my friends. And you're not right with God if you took something from someone in our church, or you did a shady dealing in our church, deceitfully, or let me just say this, if you gave someone a particular price that something costs, you put it on paper and said this is what it's gonna cost, and then you come back and say, oh, by the way, it's actually gonna cost more. And you're trying to take advantage of your Christian brother? Because you know, people like to take advantage of Christians because we're forgiving, we like to work with people, well, some people know that, and they take advantage of that. They're like, well, I know I said this on paper, but it actually cost me more. Come on, we're brothers, right? Just pray about it. Oh, let me pray about it. Oh, yeah, yeah, no, I'm gonna pay whatever's on the paper right here, because that's what we signed. That's the contract. We don't need a contract. We're brothers in Christ. And I remember years ago, like when I used to do like videography and photography just on the side, like as a side hustle, you know, I did a job for a friend, okay? I did a job for a particular friend who's a pastor now, and he hired me for a particular job, and I said, hey, I kind of learned, I know it's kind of weird, but I've learned that I need to do contracts. I don't know we're friends and stuff, but just to be safe, he was like, brother, we're Christians. Why would we do a contract, you know? Like, our word should be enough. And I felt bad, and I was just like, ooh, man, dang, you gotta pull that out on me? Like, all right, you know, well, this is how much it is. He's like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, and this is the work I'm gonna do, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And Miss Ashley knows exactly what I'm talking about, because I'm sure she's experienced this more often than not. And then, you know, when the project came to it, he gave me more work, and then, you know, because I'm a Christian, I'm just gonna be like, all right, you know, I'll do it, you know, friend or whatever, but here's the problem. When everything's said and done, he didn't pay me, right? And I was like, hey, you haven't paid me. He's like, well, I need you to also do this. I'm like, we didn't agree to that. He's like, yeah, but that's what you're supposed to do. I was like, see, this is why I told you I wanted to do the contract, because then you're pulling this stuff, you know. You said, what does that man owe you? Restitution! Now, I don't want restitution anymore. I don't really care. That's just an example, though, and it should be that man's conviction to give restitution, okay? You know, and by the way, even if it takes a lifetime to pay off, just do it. You know, I got lawyer fees, amen? Because I've been sued for stuff I preach. It just comes with the territory, and you know, praise the Lord that, you know, this world is not my home, but you know what, I'm not just gonna be like, thanks for winning the case, see you later. Like, God will repay you, brother. We're Christians, brother, you know? I'm gonna pay it off, and I pay it off incrementally, but I pay it off, because that's what's right to do. Now, thankfully, this man is very merciful, and he's just like, hey, ministry first, this second. You know, pay whatever you gotta do at the ministry, and then give me whatever, and praise God for that. But I'm not just gonna be like, ha ha ha. Well, he said I don't have to do it. No, I wanna pay, because I don't wanna be indebted to anybody else like that, and I don't wanna defame the reputation of Christ and take advantage of someone else, and so let this be a lesson to you. Hey, if you owe someone money, you should pay them back. Amen? And if they forgave you for it, and they say you don't have to, then thank God for that, but the spirit of the law should be I owe you, and I'm gonna give restitution, I wanna confirm this, and get this right. Now, go to Matthew chapter five. Just two verses and I'm done, all right? Actually, two passages, not two verses. Matthew chapter five. Look at verse 22, he says, Jesus says here, but I say unto you that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment, and whosoever shall say to his brother, Rocka, shall be in danger of the council, but whosoever shall say thou fool shall be in danger of hell fire. I don't know what Rocka means, but probably you just cook someone if you say that back in the day, or something like Rocka. Verse 23 says, therefore, if thou, listen to this, if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remembrance that thy brother hath ought against thee, leave there thy gift before the altar, go thy way, first be reconciled to thy brother, then come and offer thy gift. So even Jesus said, hey, if you're trying to serve God, you're trying to bring this offering, and you remember that you offended your brother, or your brother has ought against you, pause, let me go get this right first. Go get it right, and then come offer the gift. What is that showing us? It shows us that God wants us to be right with him through that offering, but he also wants us to be right with our fellow brethren. And you can't say, well, I'm right with God, I'm just not right with so and so. It doesn't work that way. You gotta be right with both. And obviously, you might deal with people who are unwilling to forgive you. You know what, there's nothing you can do about that. If you ask for forgiveness, if you've confirmed your love, you paid your dues, you paid your debt, and they still have ought against you, then there's nothing you can do, God has forgiven you, that's all you can do. But if you know for a fact that you have not gotten that right with someone, and you think you're still right with God, you're delusional, it doesn't exist. God, that sin offering was for us to be right with God, but you know, let me also say that the Trespass Offering signifies that God values us being right with each other. And so, this is something that was given, and you think about it, when it comes to the Trespass Offering, the Bible would often refer to it as a ransom, right? You know, these offerings were considered a ransom. It's like they were coming to pay off this ransom. Well, the Bible tells us in Mark chapter 10, verse 45, for even the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many, meaning that he is that payment for the things that we owe. And obviously, you know, in an eternal aspect, we have such a debt, we had a debt that we could not pay. No matter how much we worked, no matter how much we did right, we could not pay, therefore Jesus Christ was that perfect ransom to pay off that sin debt, and so that's pretty much it. What's the last thing that I wanna mention here, and I'm not gonna go through Hebrews chapter 10. I was, but I've already taken too much of your time, and I wanna stay right with you. But what we see here is that though the offerings were necessary to kinda ingrain in the minds of the Israelites these future principles, we also have to understand that, you know, God wasn't necessarily pleased with the blood of bulls and of goats, because they could never take away sin. And Jesus Christ says in Hebrews chapter 10, but a body has thou prepared me. So he is that perfect fulfillment of those sacrifices. He fulfilled every single one of those perfectly. So the next time you go through Leviticus, you start yawning a little bit, because it's a little boring, just remember what they signify. Just remember what it pictures, just remember what it symbolizes, and may it help you to have a heart of gratitude. Let's pray, Father, we thank you so much for your word, and thank you for those Old Testament sacrifices. I'm thankful that I live in the New Testament, which is a better testament established upon better promises. And we know that many of those in the Old Testament saw through a glass darkly, and we know that even now, though we may see through a glass darkly as far as the future events are concerned, Lord, we can clearly see the Old Testament stories and laws and bring to ourselves that beautiful picture of what they signified of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross, and the fact that we are forgiven through his blood. And Lord, I pray, Father God, that you'd help us as your people to develop a heart of gratitude towards what you've done for us. Help us to give the sacrifice of thanksgiving in the morning and night, but in like manner, help us to confess our sins morning and night. Not for our salvation, of course, we know, but so that we can just be right with you on a day-to-day basis. We love you so much, and we thank you. Pray these things in Jesus' name, amen. Amen. Song number 119 in your hymnals. Till the storm passes by. Song number 119 in your hymnal, all in that first verse. In the dark of the midnight have I yawned in my face while the storm howls above me and there's no hiding place. Mid the crash of the thundered crashes Lord, hear my cry, keep me safe till the storm passes by. Till the storm passes over, till the wonders doubt galore, till the clouds fall forever from the sky. Oh, we ask that we stand in the hollow of my hand, keep me safe till the storm passes by. Many times say to whisper, there is no need to try, for there's no less sorrow, there's no hope by and by. For I shall always be free. And tomorrow I'll rise, where the storm, there were dark little skies. Till the storm passes over, till the wonders doubt galore, till the clouds fall forever from the sky. Oh, we ask that we stand in the hollow of my hand, keep me safe till the storm passes by the last. When the long night has ended and the storms come to morn, let me stand in thy presence on that bright peaceful shore, in that land where the Tetris never comes, for may I well be, when the storm passes by. Till the storm passes over, till the wonders doubt galore, till the clouds fall forever from the sky. Oh, we ask that we stand in the hollow of my hand, keep me safe till the storm passes by. Great singing, you're in a special place.
