Timothy chapter number one look down at your Bibles at verse number 19 it says holding faith and a good conscience which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck of whom is hymenaeus and Alexander whom I've delivered unto Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme and what I'm gonna preach on this evening is the subject of being shipwrecked more specifically I'm gonna talk about hymenaeus and Alexander and Philetus now hymenaeus Alexander Philetus are men that are mentioned only in the book of 1st and 2nd Timothy and they're not mentioned necessarily in a good light these are actually some troublemakers that have basically sprouted here in this church and Paul is given instructions to Timothy on how to deal with them okay now go with me if you would to 2nd Timothy towards the latter end 2nd Timothy chapter number four because hymenaeus is actually someone who's mentioned twice in the book of 1st Timothy but Alexander might be mentioned twice we don't really know if the second mention of Alexander is referring to the same Alexander we see in 1st Timothy 1 but it potentially could be look what it says in 2nd Timothy chapter 4 in verse number 13 it says the cloak that I left at Troas with Karpus when thou comest bring with thee and the books but especially the parchments Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil the Lord reward him according to his works of whom be thou where also for he hath greatly withstood our words now two things that we can see from this is the fact that number one it could potentially be referring to the same Alexander because of the fact that they have the same exact name they're both being people who are blaspheming the Word of God they're causing Paul the Apostle trouble but it could could be potentially referring to someone completely different due to the fact that it's referring to Alexander the coppersmith okay so it's almost making that distinction that difference between this Alexander and the other Alexander but at the end of the day they're both really bad people okay and one thing I want you to notice when it comes to these particular books is that Paul has no trouble calling out people by name I mean this is someone I mean Alexander hymenaeus and Philetus are people that we know directly by name because the Apostle Paul called them out by name and the reason he did that is because he wants people at this particular church to be aware or should we say be beware of these people but they wouldn't be able to do that they didn't know who they were okay so obviously we know that Alexander and hymenaeus are people who are known amongst the congregation they've been coming around they're teaching some false doctrines and so it wouldn't be right for the Apostle Paul to come and say hey be careful with people who just teach false doctrine I'm not gonna say who it is you know I don't want to say any names because I don't want to offend anybody well that doesn't help anyone okay because then at that point the congregants or Timothy should I say probably would have the response of saying well who are you talking about specifically so I can warn people about but what if Paul the Apostle just played it safe and say well I don't want to offend anybody I don't think it's right to call people out I don't feel like it's right to name the names you know he would be placing Timothy in a situation a difficult situation where he would have to discern well who is he talking about you know is it I Lord kind of thing whereas where Paul is specifically naming these people Timothy knows okay I know who you're talking about I'm going to you know call them out publicly rebuke them before all that others may fear and the reason I make that point is because of the fact that people get offended sometimes when we preach a sermon and we call people out by name they think it's you know untactful or it's just not appropriate it's not Christ like to call people out by name you should call them up and talk to them about it but folks if the Bible talks about or gives us examples of people being called out by name we should do the same if they're dangerous people okay you know we shouldn't beat around the bush and say you know there's this one guy out there I don't want to say who his name is you know what I mean but this pastor is teaching false doctrine you know you got to be aware of this one pastor I'm not gonna call out the church I'm not gonna call out the name you're just gonna have to figure it out by yourself now folks it's important for us to say hey it's Norm Diamante okay it's important to say hey it's this pastor it's this person or whatever so that you know who we're talking about so you're not left in your mind doubting man I wonder if he's talking about you know some other youtuber or something like that no now you know who I'm talking about okay because his name is called out so that's the first thing that I want you to notice is the fact that Paul does not beat around the bush when it comes to warning the flock regarding bad people he says it's hymenaeus Alexander it's Philetus and in fact he doesn't even beat around the bush when it comes to people he just doesn't like right because he talks about homogenies and and and he talks about Alexander the coppersmith who we don't really know if they're false prophets or something but he's saying hey they did me much evil so I just want to warn you about this particular person because of the fact that you know they did me much evil the Lord reward him according to his work I mean he is given an imprecatory statement regarding Alexander the coppersmith saying I hope God rewards him according to his work because he did me much evil and so you know I like the fact that the men in the Bible are just a men of like passions amen and we should be the same so he's writing to Timothy regarding these particular people and first and second Timothy are very doctrinal books or admonishments instructions on teaching doctrine making sure they were strict about doctrine because hymenaeus and Philetus exists because hymenaeus and Alexander exist and they not only exist in the first century AD they also exist today people who try to creep in unawares teaching things which they are not for filthy lucre's sake people who try to pervert doctrine and so it's important for us as God's people to be able to identify these people look at chapter 1 and let's read in verse number three first and foremost I want to show you where this is taking place okay because this is not some house church that they're referring to this is not just anywhere there's a particular place where this is actually taking place look at verse number three it says I'll be saunty to abide still at where Ephesus when I came into Macedonia that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine he's not pulling this statement out of a hat this statement that he's making this instruction that he's writing is based upon some things that are happening specifically at the church at Ephesus he's saying hey Timothy you need to make sure you stay at Ephesus and you charge people what does that mean you command them did they teach no other doctrine now that's not referring to all right you could teach about salvation but don't talk about the post trip pre-wrath rapture you know don't teach about any other doctrine you stick to what you know kind of thing you know just stick to one subject no when he says no other doctrine is referring to no other false doctrine don't teach anything that's outside of the parameters of God's Word make sure people are not going around you know teaching that the Christmas tree is pagan or something like that trying to teach that Christmas is pagan and all these things and teaching that the earth is flat or whatever and teaching just nonsensical teachings that don't match up with the Bible he says I'm telling you that you charge them so he's like I'm giving you I'm deputizing you I'm giving you the authority to make sure you go to Ephesus and you teach them not to tolerate false doctrine now let's see if that was actually carried out go to Revelation chapter 2 if you would revelation chapter 2 because when you read the book of Ephesians you don't really have examples of what's taking place here and one of the reasons why is because of the fact that maybe the book of Ephesians was written prior to the book of first of second Timothy or prior to the events that took place in first and second Timothy okay but the book of Revelation when the letters are written to the seven churches which are in Asia some things are explicitly said and we can tie those into what Paul is telling Timothy in first Timothy look at chapter 2 verse number 1 or verse number 2 it says I know thy works and thy labor and thy patience I want you to notice this and how thou canst not bear them which are evil and thou has tried them which say they are apostles and are not and has found them liars you know what the most satisfactory feeling in the world is for a Christian to find people who are just liars to just catch people red-handed in a lie to have them teach some false doctrine you just debunk them you just destroy whatever they're teaching you found them to be liars so this is obviously an ethic a spiritual ethic that they've developed over the years where they had a zero tolerance for false doctrine people coming in saying there were apostles sent messengers of God and what do they do they tried them which say they're apostles or not and has found them liars it says in verse 3 and as born and has had patience for my namesake has labored and has not fainted so we see that this is a very doctrinally pure church now we see later on obviously that you know they were they were neglecting the most important work which is you know the one of the works that God has called us to obviously is to study to show ourselves to prove them to God a workmen that needed not to be ashamed and there are heavily emphasizing that but they were neglecting the first works okay they weren't preaching the gospel and so Jesus is rebuking them for the for these things and I personally believe that they probably got that right I mean when you get a letter from Jesus you know you're not gonna take it lightly like hey guys the oh John sent that no no Jesus Jesus actually is the one saying this so we got to get this right so I'm sure they got that right but what we see in the book of Revelation chapter 2 is the fact that they actually took the admonishment or should I say they were well equipped and trained by Timothy who was left at Ephesus and he charged them that they teach no other doctrine okay go back to first Timothy if you would first Timothy so this is where this is taking place it's at Ephesus and the reason that's important because of the fact that you know in every church not just Ephesus there's always gonna be doctrinal issues people who come in and try to teach weird stuff but even in the age in which we live it may not necessarily happen here but there's tons of it on the internet where you have these guys who are like self-ordained you know you have the the the Brian Dunlinger's of this world the Robert Breakers you know these these these weirdos who are self-ordained they have these online church ministry or something that the church in the clouds or whatever you know where where they're teaching God's Word the perverting judgment and you know they give themselves credibility and let me just say this is that look folks I'm thankful for the internet we have a YouTube channel there's tons of people who listen to our preaching online and thank God for it but if all that was removed guess what I don't get my credibility from a YouTube channel in fact I already got my credibility when I was ordained by another pastor of an actual church you know you know like the biblical model which is that pastors are supposed to send out pastors churches beget churches so another one approves you as being the man fit for the job lays hands on you and send you out to do the work of the Lord we don't get ordained online and I'm for YouTube I think it's great I think social media is great we could reach a lot of people but that doesn't necessarily give us the credibility what gives us the credibility is the man of God who is ordaining you for that job understand and so what we see here though is the fact that he's telling them these things he's saying look stay at Ephesus charge them that they teach them where the doctrines verse 4 neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies which minister questions rather than God the edifying which is in faith so do he's basically telling them hey make sure you're preaching this you're charging them and then he says in verse 6 from which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain janglings okay now what is vain janglings well later on we'll see in the book of 1st Timothy in chapter 5 he talks about vain babblings so janglings is the same thing as babbling you know you ever met someone they just say a lot but they're not really saying anything at all they have a whole lot of a whole lot to say but not a whole lot of substance to what they're saying they say a whole lot of content or they have a lot of words but the reality is it's just a bunch of vain jangle okay just mark it down when you see someone like that what are they doing they're swerving okay why well because of the fact that when we preach God's Word it's supposed to be plain not jangling not a bunch of noise it's made plain we preach the word we're instant in season out of season we're approved rebuke exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine all scripture is given by inspiration of God it's profitable for doctrine for a proof of correction for instruction in righteousness so if these things are important to us we're to put the cookie on the bottom shelf for everyone but when you have someone just saying all types of things and you kind of walk away wondering well is it by calling upon the name of the Lord or is it not just mark it down that person is trying to confuse you that person is filled with vain jangling vain babbling now why is that why do people teach false doctrine because I believe this is referring to Hymenaeus and Alexander which is at the latter end of the chapter okay why do people teach false doctrine why do they do that why why do they teach false doctrine well I'm gonna give you a couple reasons why okay number one is the most obvious reason and that is because they're wicked false prophets okay go to go to the book of Titus if you would look at Titus chapter 1 and verse number 10 Titus 1 verse number 10 says for there are many unruly in vain talkers you know like the vain janglers the vain babblers here's another synonym vain talkers and deceivers by the way especially they have the circumcision it's referring to the Jews there all right whose mouths must be stopped who subvert whole houses teaching things which they are not why for filthy lucres sake the Bible says so a lot of times these false prophets want to teach false doctrine because it's making them money Joel seen the Rick Warren's of this world you know these prosperity preacher types they do it they teach false doctrine with no conscience whatsoever because they're trying to make money off of it he says one of themselves even a prophet of their own said the Christians are always liars evil beasts slow bellies this witness is true wherefore rebuke them sharply that they may be sound in the faith not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men that turn from the truth he says in verse 16 they profess that they know God this is similar to what we see in 2nd Timothy where it says they have a form of godliness but actually they deny the power of the earth so what does that tell us well you know Matthew 7 puts it out it puts it this way they're wolves in sheep's clothing because obviously if they're gonna deceive people they can't come looking like Robert breaker they can't come looking like Brian Dunlinger they can't come looking like a false prophet they have to come looking and speaking like you and I they have to be wolves in sheep's clothing why because they're trying to deceive they have to cloak their deception in a little bit of truth to deceive people and he says they profess that they know God but in works they deny him being abominable disobedient and unto every good work reprobate go back to 1st Timothy if you wouldn't 1st Timothy so one of the reasons that they teach false doctrine is just because they're wicked and you know some people need to come to grips with that people need to come to grips that false prophets do exist that evil people are actually real that there's literally people with the nefarious agenda to damn souls to hell okay you know this is not just something that you see in the movies in fact evil people are worse than the people that you see in the movies worse than the villain the worst villain you'd ever see is worse than then the you know t1000 of Terminator reparates of this world are worse than that you know they're worse than any villain you ever meet on I mean name your most villainous villain Danos dang you guys are too young for me I don't know who that is Jason that's more like my generation yeah the guy with the hockey mask right I was thinking of someone else but name another one some more Freddy Krueger who Biden no but see he's real he's real he's worse than the movies he's worse than Chucky it was based upon Biden he's worse I mean he's false prophets of this world are worse than those people and you know what false prophets do exist they exist to teach dandable heresy to damn souls to hell to beguile unstable souls the Bible says to destroy people's lives that's one of the reasons that they teach false doctrine but another reason why they teach false doctrine look what it says in first Timothy chapter 1 verse number 7 desiring to be teachers of the law now this particular category we can't really say if they're false prophets in the sense of like their reprobate we don't know we just know that the motive behind teaching false doctrine or teaching really stupid stuff it's because they desire to be teachers of the law they want to be pastors they want to be evangelists they want some sort of a position of authority and because of that they want to come up with these cute doctrines and in doing so what do they do they pervert the Bible because they want to be accredited with teaching this new truth or something like that you know they desire to be teachers of the law but what does it say understanding neither what they say nor where of they affirm let me put it to you in plain 2021 English they don't know what they're talking about they don't know what they're talking about so why do they do it because they want to be teachers of the law they want to look and act like they're waxing eloquent like they know what they're talking about but they don't know what they're talking about he says desire to be teachers of the law understanding neither what they say nor where of they affirm but we know that the law is good if a man use it lawfully what is that telling us you know when someone out there is teaching out of the King James Bible and they're teaching something really stupid don't blame the Bible that they're using right I mean Robert breaker and Brian Dunlanger they use the King James Bible but it's not the King James Bible's fault or why they're so stupid don't accredit what they're teaching to the Bible because they're simply perverting what the Bible says the law is good if a man use it lawfully the King James Bible is great if you use it lawfully but if you use it to teach stupid doctrines you know then you're an idiot that doesn't make the Bible does it doesn't discredit the Bible that you're using understand now look obviously there's false versions of the Bible out there but I'm saying when false prophets will use the King James Bible you know a good hope kjv type of a person say that they're King James only but they're teaching false doctrine it's not the Bible's fault right why because we know that the law is good if a man use it lawfully so one reason why people teach false doctrine because they're false prophets deal with it believe it accept it don't think that there's every human being out in the world is a good person they mean well no folks sometimes they're just rotten people out there they exist and you need to come to grips with the reality of it we don't live in this Disney world type of you know where where you just ride off into the sunset and the bad guy dies or whatever you know bad guys still exist in this world now one day they'll all be cast into the lake of fire I agree but you know what until then you know sometimes bad guys prevail and they teach false doctrine they infiltrate they teach false things but not only that they teach false doctrine because they desire to be someone they want to be teachers of the law okay and this that particular reverse verse reminds me of Norm Diamante Norm Diamante is the guy who has this channel it's called good hope kjv and you know initially he was teaching pretty decent stuff it was all about salvation it looked like good soul-winning tips or good salvation tips and illustrations or whatever it's one of those things is like you know got nothing against the guy looks like he's doing well he looks like he's sincere of heart it looks like you know some good stuff right and the reality is this let's just let's just call it the elephant in the room okay most everything that he was teaching came from new IFP churches okay let me just just just point out the obvious here is that most everything that he taught that was good came from new IFP churches the churches that he is now attacking but then all of a sudden it comes out attacking calling upon the name of the Lord saying you don't have to call upon the name of the Lord to be saved now let me just help you out with something whenever someone tells you not to do something that the Bible clearly says to do we're not talking about like some obscure verse or something like that I'm talking about when they attack something where the Bible says do this and they tell you oh no don't do that okay then that person is probably a false prophet why because he's saying you don't have to call upon the name of the Lord to be saved for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved you don't have to do it with your mouth that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God raised him for the dead thou shalt be saved so whenever someone tells you the exact opposite I mean I know this is elementary but whenever someone takes the exact opposite what the Bible says is instead do the exact opposite that should be a red flag to you that person is probably a bad person and so what we see here is that people teach false doctrine because there are false prophets or they just desire to be teachers of the law which is what this guy is doing you know and you know he made that stupid video and I went on there because it comes up on my on my recommended and there's a thing called the comment section on YouTube and so you can leave a comment whether you approve or disapprove you know I mean and so what I did this is what I put what a joke period so it was a joke you expect us to believe that you should not call upon the name of the Lord to be saved that's a joke when the Bible clearly teaches that you're supposed to call upon the name of the Lord so then he gets on there and and by the way you can no longer go to the comment section to validate this because he turned off the comment section but don't worry they're screenshots he starts calling me a liar he's saying I'm a deceiver he's calling me a fatso a Gordito I mean I took that person he's like going off and saying all these things and he said hey you know he said some word in Spanish that means like a deceiver and I just responded by saying hey another one bites the dust because he like many others have exposed themselves for who they really are and then he just went off and he started insulting me and saying all these things or whatever and I said why are you getting mad why are you upset I said you made a stupid video I was like so we're just saying it's stupid and I said look I'm the one telling you that I'm an actual pastor of a real church this is what I said I'm a pastor of a real church and I said look the only reason anybody even watches your channel is because of Alexander Scorby because the man's channel has millions of views not because of him but because of Alexander Scorby's Bible reading I mean I've watched this channel just to listen to Alexander Scorby turn on the book of John I mean you look up Alexander Scorby KJV his channel is probably gonna pop up and I said that's I said let's just be honest that's the only reason people go to your channel and I just said this norm who norm who and then he he responds by putting me in quotes saying oh I'm a pastor of a real church ordained by the new IFB folks when you put something in quotes that means you're quoting the person who's supposedly stated it verbatim I never said I was ordained by the new I just said I'm a real pastor of a real church and he's like the only reason people listen to you is because it's because of pastor Steven Anderson and this I responded with man I must have really hurt you then he reported my comment he reported my comment you said how do you know he reported your comment well because when you delete a comment it goes away when you report it the comment that you made you can see it but no other account can see it so he reported it and I don't know he might have put it under like bullying or something like that he reported my comment and then you know my what a joke comment was getting more likes than any other comment that was on a video which there's a ton of comments on that video basically showing you that people are like this is stupid this is a joke so what does he do he turns off the comment section why turn off the comment section folks let me just say something about the comment section it helps your your videos and it makes for good videos later on I mean I made a couple videos called you pass from here reads mean comments and we get it from the videos well you know this is snowflake generation they can't take criticism they can't take correction they can't take admonishment or just like oh let's just silence them let's just this cancel culture type of generation they can't handle the truth you can't handle the truth so what do you just turn off the comment section so then later on he makes a post on that channel because everyone in the new IFP a lot of people the new IFP are getting on them they're like this is stupid your teaching false doctrine this is what the Bible says and he's doubling down on it let me just let me just share something with you folks if you're wrong you're wrong there's nothing wrong with saying hey you know what I made a mistake stupid video I'm really sorry you're right this is what I meant but maybe I just didn't word it correctly I'm really sorry about that let me take down that stupid video you know a lot of people would respect that guy but he's not looking for respect he's looking for subscribers that's what he's looking for he's not looking to be right he just wants to teach stupid doctrines so he makes this post and this is the most telling thing that he said okay he said oh I'm being called a child of the devil because I never asked Jesus to save me and this is what I responded with because it was on a community post this is what I was wondering with I'll say it's it I'll say it's it hey this by thy words thou shall be justified and by thy words thou shalt be condemned there you go and folks you do have to call upon the name of the Lord to be saved no you know when the Bible says confess with your mouth believe in your heart they're kind of synonymous one with each other no one leads to the other that's why it says confess with your mouth for what the heart man believeth unto righteousness but what the mouth confession is made unto salvation and it says how shall they call on him and whom they have not believed showing you that the prerequisite to call upon the name of the Lord is you have to believe it gives you the order of sequence that the prerequisites to every single step leading up to salvation I mean no one would get up and say well people could just read the Bible and just be saved like that no you need a preacher to come to you and actually give you the gospel you're not gonna remove the element of the soul winner and say people could just get saved like that no because you need the human instrument of a soul winner to open their mouths boldly to make known the mysteries of the gospel to get you saved well why would you remove the very last step which is calling upon the name of the Lord it's very strange folks and then he uses John chapter 12 to try to prove his point and say well the Pharisees believe but they didn't confess them openly for fear of the Jews you see they believed and they didn't confess openly because it confessed you know they didn't openly make a public profession about their faith no folks let me just explain something to you it's very simple when the Bible says that the Pharisees believed but they confessed to him not openly in other words they weren't telling everyone that they were Christians because they didn't want to get put out of the synagogue it doesn't mean they didn't call upon the name of the Lord for salvation you understand you know because one of his one of his proselytes was saying well confess doesn't really mean you know a public declaration or something like that it only means to be in agreement and this is what is he gonna say he's gonna say this you see in the Greek this is what it says you know and this is me I'm sorry where does it say this folks words and even in the English language have various meanings that mean almost the same thing but they were used for different in different contexts but just a casual if you even just casually look up the word okay the Greek word for confess you'll see that it says agree but it also says to publicly declare well I never means to publicly declare it never means to publicly confess it just means to agree well in that case when the Bible says to confess your faults one to another I guess we just do it in our hearts I guess when I want to confess my faults you I just stare at you the whole time as I'm speaking in my heart I mean is that what it means or just confess means hey these are my faults I fall short you know I'm struggling in this area or something yeah it means to publicly say it means openly say it look obviously confess can mean to agree obviously that's true but in context of salvation it does mean to verbalize asking God to save you and they want to get into this minutiae you know details of well what are the exact words folks save me remember me when I will not come into the kingdom I mean we don't expect people to be a theologian in their prayer life to get saved you understand well let me say this you know out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh it's not like I believe this in my heart but no I will not say this with my mouth what kind of nonsense is that we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard and folks calling upon the name of the Lord dates back all the way to Genesis chapter 4 before the Bible told us about Abraham believing in God and it was counted unto him for righteousness which is later in Genesis the first mention of calling upon the name Lord is Genesis chapter number 4 showing you that God is placing an emphasis on calling upon the name of the Lord before even places the emphasis on believing on the Lord for salvation and both are important obviously you need both to be safe what I'm saying is that it dates back all the way to Genesis chapter 4 you know the law of first mention you want to see how something important is or what the Bible teaches about something go to the first time that is mentioned in the Bible first time calling upon the name of the Lord is mentioned in the Bible Genesis chapter 4 then men began to call upon the name of the Lord oh I guess you just got a bunch of people in the world just agreeing in their hearts no I'm saying that they got saved okay and so people teach false doctrine like hymenaeus and and Alexander because they're either false prophets or they just want to be teachers all they want to be somebody and this is why in first Timothy the Apostle Paul goes over what the qualifications of a bishop it's not like I mean I got to fill up this letter with some stuff let me just put the qualifications of a pastor in here you know that'll take up a good chunk of the letter here no he's putting that there for a reason because these guys who desire to be teachers of the law they're not pastors they're wannabes right there are a bunch of wannabe pastors wannabe preachers want to they desire to to be teachers of the law and look if any man desire the office of a bishop he desires a good work but the bishop the Bible says has to be apt to teach he can't be a babe in Christ he can't teach stupid things so what happens to hymenaeus and Alexander we'll go to chapter 1 go to the latter end you say man I feel uncomfortable these kind of sermons you know it's just like calling people out and stuff and it just doesn't sound nice you know well you know Paul tells Timothy in verse number 18 this our charge I committed to these son Timothy according to the prophecies which went before on the that thou by them might is war a good warfare folks I don't know if you know this but Christianity is warfare it's not a walk in the park it's not a theme park says you're going to war and he says if you're gonna go to war you need to make sure you take the prophecies which went before on the and obviously with Timothy's referring to the Old Testament referring to what they had then the revealed scriptures he says according to the prophecies which went before on thee that thou by them might is war a good warfare you need to be able to defend the faith used in the Bible okay he says holding faith and a good conscience which some having put away concerning faith have made shipper what does that mean and of course he's referring to hymenaeus and Alexander what does it mean to be shipwrecked well what this is referring to is the fact that you think of a Christian being represented as a ship in the sea they're going to a specific destination and they're on that course okay but you know the Bible says there would be no more children tossed to and fro carried about with every wind of doctrine by the slight of men and cunning craft in this whereby they lie in wait to the sea so God wants us to stick on the straight and narrow doctrinally in our practice and he doesn't want us to turn aside into vain janglings why because once you start getting into stupid doctrines you're gonna eventually hit some rocks and you're gonna be shipwrecked and once you're shipwrecked you're no longer sailing your ship is worthless Paul said in first Corinthians chapter 9 I keep under my body and bring it into subjection let's buy enemies when I preach to others I myself should be a castaway in other words I don't want to be worthless in the Christian life therefore I'm going to discipline myself so that I remain useful John 15 talks about you know people who don't abide in the vine they're cast forth as a branch they are withered men gather them and cast them through the fire and they are burned what does that mean they become worthless so a person who becomes shipwrecked doctrinally is a person who has swerved they're carried about with every one of doctrine now today we don't necessarily have every wind of doctrine we have every wind of YouTube videos and people get carried away with a lot of crazy stuff folks when they're saying this is pagan you're watching some YouTube videos out there from some Judaizing wannabe teachers out there these Judaizers who want to you know they want to devalue Jesus Christ in his birth even to the point where they'll attack a Christmas tree they'll attack Christmas the Grinch's of this world that's what they are yeah the Scrooge's of this world no one got that one where's Moses you know they try to they try to Judaize Christianity devalue Christmas devalue the Christmas tree why because they want to attack Jesus Christ okay and where do they get it from I'm telling you they get it from YouTube videos sometimes look folks when you start placing a heavier emphasis on some channel which some channel says more than the Bible then you're probably swerving and look I'm not the type of pastor that says don't watch YouTube don't watch any of the sermons because you do whatever you want you know I remember in times past I had leaders just like watch out for the so-and-so watch out for this there's people on the internet you got to watch out for them my philosophy is this why don't I just train you to know what the truth is right and then you know you're on your own after that and look if you get carried away some wind of doctrine and become some heretic it's not my fault why is that my fault I'm teaching the Bible you're lost not mine sorry and if you're saved you know you're not gonna follow the voice of a stranger okay and plus we're in a church where we teach a lot of doctrine people are keen to the right doctrines they're keen to false prophets and heretics I mean we have to kind of like cool it down sometimes I was like all right that's like a hot red we need to bring it down to a cool blue all right not everyone's a reprobate not everyone's a false prophet type of a thing but you know I rather I rather pull the reins on a horse than have to kick a donkey all right I rather pull the reins and so I say well you know chill out a little bit you know not everyone comes to those doors the faggot all right you chill a little bit I rather have to do that than have to kick a mule but what happens is some of these people's they make shipwreck so I believe sometimes Christians can become shipwrecked just get off doctrinally why because one of the works of the flesh is what heresies not Danville heresies but heresies nonetheless and he says in verse 20 of whom is hymenaeus and Alexander whom I've delivered unto Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme that's a very interesting statement and it should something should come to mind when you hear that right being delivered unto Satan what is that what does that make you think of Church discipline first Corinthians chapter 5 go there first Corinthians chapter 5 Church discipline is a practice of the church and that we see in first Corinthians chapter 5 dealing primarily with someone who is involved in fornication we see the list of sins mentioned at the latter end of first Corinthians chapter 5 and it's not just fornication it's drunkenness idolatry all these other things but you could add to that heresies you could add to that blasphemies and heresies and all these other things because first Corinthians 5 is not the list of first Corinthians 5 is not necessarily exhaustive list because there's times that people get thrown out for offenses in the church for heresies in the church for you know just being inappropriate in the church for whatever reason sometimes it's literally at the discretion of the pastor to throw someone out this is basically the basic list here that he gives us that for sure it's like if you're committing fornication drunkenness railings etc but look what it says in verse 4 in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ when you're gathered together my spear with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ to deliver such in one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh that the spear may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus now both this verse and first Timothy chapter 1 referring to hominids and Alexander kind of leave room for us to wonder are these people saved or not like his hominids and Alexander are they false prophets are they saved or not and kind of God kind of leaves us an obscurity for a reason because it's kind of obscure and I'm explain to you why he doesn't make it very clear whether these people say are saved or not okay the reason why he doesn't make it clear whether they're saved or not is because he doesn't want us to alleviate the punishment on that person if they're saved in other words it's like oh man but he's a brother in Christ God's like brother in Christ or not the punishment still stands on both why because what does the Bible say in Matthew chapter 18 that they are to be unto us as a what heathen and as a publican so even if they're saved that they get thrown out of the church the Bible says treat them like an unsaved person so the reason he gives us these examples of hymenaeus and Alexander and even in the guy in 1st Corinthians chapter 5 and he doesn't make it very clear whether they're saved or not it's because it's not really important whether they're saved or not the important thing is is that you dish out the appropriate punishment to these guys whether they're saved or not if they're saved throw them out if they're not saved throw them out if they're saved deliver them them unto Satan if they're not saying deliver them unto Satan the punishment the degree of punishment does not change based upon whether they're saved or not because the violation is still valid their violation is still there so based upon that violation God says you need to cast them out deliver them unto Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme okay now we don't know the blasphemy of hymenaeus and Alexander you know blasphemy simply means to speak irreverently of something you know if you blaspheme if you blaspheme God you're speaking irreverently of God but sometimes people can blaspheme and they can they can speak irreverently of the Christian of Christianity or the Bible like for example Paul was a blasphemer he didn't blaspheme the Holy Ghost because at that point he'd be irreverently right the Bible says he was just a blasphemer in other words he spoke irreverently of Christianity so we don't know exactly what hymenaeus and Alexander are guilty of we do know that it's tied into what they were teaching them and they're blaspheming the Word of God for that reason they were thrown out okay and so we see here that they made shipwreck they were delivered unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh they may learn not to blaspheme turn with me if you would go to chapter 6 go to chapter 6 and by the way that's why chapter 4 exists right because chapter 4 he says now the spirit speaketh expressly then in the latter time some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils is it any coincidence do you have hymenaeus and Alexander being mentioned at the latter end of chapter 1 and then he says in chapter 4 some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits doctrines of devils what does it mean to depart from the faith I believe this is referring to people who have fallen from grace doesn't mean that they lost their salvation it means they were just never safe to begin with okay so he tells them hey this is how you save yourself from false doctrine this is how you save those who are listening to you from false doctrine look at chapter 6 in verse number verse number 3 he tells us how to deal with these people he tells Timothy if any tea if any man teach otherwise and consent not to wholesome words what's another way of saying wholesome words that which is clearly stated that which is whole right nothing wrong with someone has a different opinion on obscure scriptures the book of Revelation you know parts of the book of Daniel but if someone is not consenting to wholesome words like for example believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved you know the Word of God was made flesh and dwelt among us those are wholesome words in other words there's no room for doubt of what it's talking about oh that's your interpretation how many times you've ever heard that Sony well the Bible says here all you have to do is believe on the Lord Jesus Christ you can be sick yeah that's that's your interpretation no there you don't really need to interpret much here it just says you just have to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you can be saved you know no prophecy of the scripture is given of any private interpretation the Bible says especially that which is most important in the Bible such as salvation God clearly lays it out tells you what you have to do because he doesn't want you to be doubtful or confused regarding salvation so the Bible says here that if any man teach otherwise and consent not to wholesome words even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the doctrine which is according to godliness he is a scholar he's a theologian that guy knows this stuff he must have a lot of YouTube subscribers he must have millions of views no he's proud oh what does that say no it's nothing he doesn't know anything because once you start subverting the Word of God once you just go against the clear teachings of the Bible you don't even know anything that's right idiot once you say the exact opposite of what the Bible says okay you're an idiot I know you you're an idiot you know nothing he is proud knowing nothing but doting about questions and strives and words well what if someone is you know like mute or something you know all these stupid hypothetical questions that people bring up oh what if someone's deaf do we really have to open our mouths boldly to make known the mysteries of the gospel what if someone is just deaf well first of all the vast majority of deaf people can hear a little bit still we have deaf people in our church and they still are able to hear somewhat okay they're legally deaf okay but folks obviously if someone is Helen Keller status then obviously that would be the exception to the rule folks don't dote about stupid questions doting about questions and strives of words where earth coming cometh envy strife railings evil surmising so what is the result of these type of questions arguments stripes disputes evil surmising railings folks I literally just put what a joke and he's just like you're a deceiver and by the way that is a railing accusation no proof of where I'm a deceiver just calls me a deceiver so guess what norm you're marked from our church so do you think he's not saved who cares he's done to me into our church as a heathen and as a publican no hope I don't care how many subscribers you got I don't care how many views Alexander Scorby has on your channel I don't care what you do you're railing I'm not a respecter of people and therefore because you're a railer against yours truly your mark from our church evil surmising look what it says perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth supposing that gain is godliness look what it says here from such withdrawal thyself the Bible says you need to get away from these people okay stay away from these people why because of the fact that what they do is they beguile unstable souls during that whole debacle there's a lot of babes in Christ that were getting carried away with his nonsense people like a little man maybe well isn't he right though like don't I mean what if you know they start coming up with those those doting questions again don't about those questions well you know doesn't the Bible just say believe in the Lord Jesus Christ well he's a good guy listen to a couple of his videos you know he kind of helped me in my soul honey he kind of helped me in this and these babes in Christ are being carried about with this guy's wind of doctrine Bob says from such withdrawal thyself from such withdrawal thyself and look this is a stupidest thing I've ever heard when dealing with something like this why don't you just call him because I don't like talking to heretics there's my answer because I don't like talking to heretics and you know what most of the people who follow that idiot are idiots themselves let's just be I'm just being honest with you because I've spoken to them I've spoken to people who've spoken to them they send me screenshots of their conversations where they're just like I told them this guy's a wicked person and that individuals like show me he's all right here the screenshots he's railing against pastor Mihir he's saying this he's a I don't even care about that though okay oh I know you you're an idiot it's like you instantly recognize people like that and then these same people are contacting me show me where he said this and I'm like do you follow this guy do you agree with them yeah I agree with them but show me show me proof I'm like I'm not here to prove that I'm right I'm here to block you I'm here to make sure that you to confirm that thou are an idiot I'm nothing to prove to you who are you sometimes people give themselves too much credit go to 2nd Timothy chapter 2 I don't have any notes so I don't know how long I'm gonna go we're just kind of going through this all right you guys cool with that or what all right so what's the answer to this well the answer is not for me to say stay away from them don't listen to them you know for me it's like hey if you want to follow people off a cliff go for it because to me it's more like you know what if you follow people like that then you deserve to follow someone like that if you like people like that then you deserve you you guys deserve each other I don't try to keep people away from people like that I warn people of them and people with you know any brains in their head well no I need to withdraw myself from this person because this person is wicked that's right not because you're gonna be influenced by them because you don't want to be associated with wicked people that's right who wants to follow a wicked person nobody does not a righteous person doesn't want to associate themselves with the wicked individual so what is the answer well look what it says in 2nd Timothy 2 and verse 15 it says study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth so number one we have to say the Bible ourselves study the word of gold read Romans 10 yourself it's still there Romans 10 9 and 10 11 12 13 it's all there in plain English you know what's interesting about this guy all the Bible says believe in thy heart and thou shalt be saved why'd you leave out the other part of the verse why'd you leave out the power says to confess with your mouth because you hate it so much because it goes against what you believe folks let's quote the entire thing only wicked people remove things from the Bible folks right the Bible says to study to show ourselves and prove them to God so we need to study the Word of God go look it up yourself go look up Romans 10 13 go look up Genesis chapter 4 go look at all the ports just look up just type in call upon the name of the Lord and see how many times that thing comes up in relation to salvation it's closed but not only that verse 16 says but shun profane in vain babblings for they will increase into more ungodliness you know one thing I've learned about these idiots this is not the only stupid thing he's gonna say because according to the Bible they will increase unto more ungodliness even example manly Perry you might not know who he is this guy came out with one false doctrine after another and it just kept getting worse it's like one week ago I was like whoa this is bad they can't get worse than this and then he just come out with something way worse it was like I stand corrected I stand corrected and then he said like you know he was saying that Jesus Christ was like a literal bread and then Mary was like an oven and you're just like people go to this guy's church this is crazy I look folks think about it you shouldn't feel bad for people who go to that guy's church initially I felt bad like those poor people but then once he starts teaching all that crazy stuff and they remain there like oh no you deserve to be there because if you can hear something like that and it doesn't bother you it doesn't rub you the wrong way you know you deserve to be there you understand and so what am I saying is that often when people come out with some stupid doctrine they will increase into more ungodliness they'll teach weirder stuff Tyler Doka Tyler Doka came out with the Flat Earth and then after that he just snowballed into the all these weird weird doctrines like Christians are gonna be in the lake of fire you know it's just like based upon how much bad you've done you'll be there for a little bit you know it's just like what so the Bible says what are we what should we do Sean profane and vain babblings you should be able to identify vain babbling it says in verse 17 and their word will eat as doth a canker of whom is hymenaeus and Philetus by the way hymenaeus seems to be the focus of a lot of what's going on here he's mentioned in chapter 1 of 1st Timothy as blaspheming and then with his other partner Philetus he's teaching someone something else he says and their word will death eat as a canker of whom is hymenaeus and Philetus who concerning the truth have erred saying that the resurrection is past already now this is dandable heresy and overthrow the faith of something so that means that people some people who were saved they were getting you know carried away with this now here's my speculation of what this is actually referring to what they're probably doing and it's still wrong is they're pointing to the partial resurrection of people who came back to life when Jesus Christ resurrected you remember people came out of the graves it was only like a partial resurrection it obviously wasn't a glorified resurrection people just came to life so they're kind of using that as their proof as to all the resurrection is past already or something they're overthrowing the faith it sounds like the resurrection is not gonna take place in the future it already took place this is your first example of preterism because preterism teaches all these things have already happened the rapture already happened resurrection already happened well hymenaeus and Philetus are the architects of that doctrine but what I want you to notice is that it says that they overthrow the faith of some of who those who are not studying those who are not studying they could get carried away with these things folks that's why it's important that you not only listen in church to the preaching but you better go home and study it yourself you better go home and crack open your Bible and say Lord open down mine eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law teach me the Word of God help me not to be simple simple-minded help me not to be a fool help me not to be a child help me to mature spiritually to not be tossed to and fro carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men they're cunning craftiness they're trying to deceive me I want to know the Bible I want to know what the Bible says so that you don't have to keep coming to me or others in the church saying hey how do I can you talk to this person instead I don't know how to answer this you learn how to answer you learn how to debunk that doctrine you learn how to debunk that false teaching you learn how to answer people study to show thyself not approve them to me I was just approved them to God that means God holds you accountable so you know what God's not gonna blame me like hey Bruce you know Jordan got carried away with some false doctrine that's your fault he's gonna hold Jordan accountable and Jordan can't blame me I'm just using it as an example you know let's say he didn't know the Bible he can't go to God and say well you know pastor me here then and teach me this it's like well you have a Bible you should have learned it yourself you have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you you have the unction of the Holy Ghost within you you should have known this you should have studied this this is your job okay I'm gonna give an account that I may do with joy not with grief for your souls because I'm watching over you you understand but I'm not gonna give an account for the knowledge that you know that's your job okay and so you know Hymenaeus Philetus and Alexander are bozos idiots who were cast out of the church at Ephesus they were marked by the Apostle Paul for teaching stupid doctrine were they saved I don't know but based upon what we see here in 2nd Timothy 2 probably Hymenaeus was not saved because they're teaching that the resurrection is passed already okay but at the end of the day it doesn't matter there is a good hope cage are you saying that he's not saved I don't care I'm gonna treat him like one how about that but do you believe he's not safe I'm a treat him like I believe he's not saved because the Bible tells me that he's like a heathen and as a publican well how can you talk about him like you know me lives he's changed and how many things he's done for people and all these things he's ever what is he done a channel folks our channel can get shut down tomorrow the work of God will still continue at first words Baptist Church still gonna get a bunch of people saved thank God for the internet but folks the work of God is primarily here getting people saved preaching the Word of God turning people to righteousness I'm not gonna sit down in this corner right here with my phone and just depend on me making videos what's up everyone can you lose your salvation and I'm not against making videos like that I think it's important but that's not the only thing we're doing I got my fishing pole and all types of ponds folks and you know what my first responsibility is being a pastor that's my first responsibility preaching God's word leading God's flock winning souls to Christ and I'm ordained of the Lord Jesus Christ because the Lord Jesus Christ ordained the man of God who sent me out because he was ordained by a man of God who was sent out by another man of God not some self YouTube ordained idiot with the Napoleon complex let's pray father we thank you so much for your word and thank you for the book of first and second Timothy I love these books especially as a pastor there's so much instruction at admonitions there I pray God that you would help us as your people to shun faint profane and vain babblings the vain janglings Lord help us to study to show ourselves approve them to God and these doctrines are important Lord you want us to earnestly contend for the faith once delivered unto the Saints and these types of doctrines are gonna come under attack throughout the years help us to never grow weary of fighting for the truth and help us to fight to the bitter end and Lord the Apostle Paul said himself that he finished his course his ship reached the end he stayed the course help us not to be distracted and and swerve unto vain janglings and Lord I pray you bless our church help us to continue to get more people saved to turn many to righteousness we love you we thank you for these things in Jesus
