Let's go ahead and find our seeds this evening. Find the seeds and find a hymnal close to you and turn to page number 423. Song number 423. Come on in and find the seeds and find a hymnal. Turn to page number 423. Let's go ahead and sing it out on the first. Joy to the world, the Lord is done. Let us receive our gain. Let every heart prepare Him room. And heaven and nature sing. And heaven and nature sing. And heaven, heaven, nature sing. Song number 423 on the second. Joy to the world, the Savior reigns. Let man, their sons, employ. The wheels and flights, the seals and all. Repeat the sounding joy. Repeat the sounding joy. Repeat, repeat the sounding joy. No more the sins and sorrows grow. No more the souls that pass the ground. He comes to make His blessings come. For as the curse is found, for as the curse is found. For as the curse is found. We're going to sing it out on the last. It's Christmas Eve, all right? Let's get into the Christmas spirit, spirit this evening. So let's sing it out on the last. He rules the world with truth and grace. And makes the nations prove the glory of His love. And wonders of His love. And wonders of His love. And wonders of His love. Amen, great team. Welcome to Verity Baptist Church here on our Sunday evening service. We are glad to see everyone here this evening. Let's open the service with a word of prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, we love You. We love You and we thank You for the opportunity to be in Your house this evening on a very special Christmas Eve service, Lord. We thank You for everything that You do for us. And pray that You bless the service. Pray for the music. Pray for the preaching and the fellowship, Lord. Pray that everything that would be said and done this evening will bring glory and honor to Your name. We love You. And as You said, I pray, Amen. Turn to page number 424. Song number 424, O come, O ye faithful. Let's go ahead and sing it out on the first. O come, O ye faithful. Joyful and triumphant. O come, O ye faithful. At the hand. Come and behold Him. O knocking of angels' door. O come, O ye faithful. O come, O ye faithful. O come, O ye faithful. In Christ. Let's sing it out on the second. Sing choirs of angels. Sing in exultation. O sing, O ye righteous of heaven above. Glory to God. Glory in the highest. O come, let us adore Him. O come, let us adore Him. O come, let us adore Him in Christ. Come on, sing it out on the last. Yea, O ye faithful. Glory is happy morning. Just sing for me, O glory day. Word of the Father. Now in flesh are we. Come, let us adore Him. O come, let us adore Him. O come, let us adore Him in Christ. Amen. Amen. We want to welcome you to this Sunday evening service, special service, of course, Christmas Eve service tonight. And we are glad that you are with us. Let's go ahead and take our bulletins. We'll look at some announcements real quickly. And it's always a dangerous time when you change the schedule. And we appreciate you being here at 5 p.m. If you need a bulletin, you can raise your hand. One of our ushers will come by and bring you one. We appreciate you being here an hour early. Usually we have our Sunday evening service at 6 p.m. And like I said, it's always a scary thing. I'm sure there'll be a group that shows up at 6 not remembering that we had service at 5. And that's okay. We'll just kind of wave at them as we leave. But we appreciate you being here. 2 11 is the verse this week. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And that's a good verse there. We like that. If you open up your bulletins, you'll see our service time, Sunday morning service, 10 30 a.m. And Sunday evening service, yes, usually is at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening Bible study. We encourage you to be with us on Wednesday night for the Wednesday night Bible study at 7 p.m. If you look at our soul winning times, our main soul winning times on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. And then Thursdays and Fridays are postponed right now due to work days. But then we'll have our regularly scheduled soul winning time on Sundays at 2 p.m. as well. If you are a first time guest, if it's your first time here at Verity Baptist Church, we're so glad you're with us. And we have a special gift for you tonight. When you walk out of the church building tonight, if you go out our main foyer or if you go out our secondary foyer, you'll see a little table set up. And on that table, you'll see these little gift bags. Please grab one on your way out as a gift from us to you for being our guest tonight. There are several resources in this bag that we'd like you to have. The one I'd like to highlight is this documentary called Being Baptist. It's well made, very interesting. We think you'll like it. And we want to give this to you as a gift. So please make sure you don't leave here tonight without grabbing one of these gift bags on your way out. And if you are a guest, we'd ask that you please take a moment and fill out the communication card which is inserted in your bulletin. If you need a pen, just raise your hand and one of our ushers can bring you by a Verity Baptist Church pen. And you're welcome to keep the pen as a gift from us as well. And we'd love to have a record of your attendance. We actually would like to send you a little gift, but we need your information to do that. So please take a moment to fill the card out. When we're done with the announcements, we're going to sing a song. And when we're done singing, we're actually going to have a special choir song. And after that we'll receive the offering and we want to just have you drop this in the offering plate. Excuse me. We'll have the offering and then the choir. I just confused the entire choir. I don't want to mess you up. Offering, then choir. But then you can drop this in the offering plate as it goes by. If you look at the announcements there, we of course are a family-integrated church. Children and infants are always welcome in the service. We do not separate children from their parents for any reason. We do have mother-baby rooms and daddy rooms available for your convenience. All of the rooms are comfortable seating. They're monitor-set up so you can watch the service and listen to it. So if you have a child that's been distracting during the service, if you need some privacy, we would encourage you to use those rooms as needed. And if you look at the announcements and upcoming events, of course we've got the workdays coming up if you can help us, if there are men out there that are able to help with mudding and texturing and there's sign-up sheets in the foyer, please go by there and sign up for that. And then of course we had the hot chocolate and Christmas cookies today at 4 p.m. in the fellowship hall, so we hope you made it early enough to be able to participate with that. And then of course this is our Christmas Eve service tonight. So we're going to have special music from the VBC Choir and Orchestra. When we're done with the announcements, we're going to sing a song. We'll receive the offering and then the choir will be singing for us before the reading of the text. So make sure you're aware of that and looking forward to that. And then we do want you to be aware next week. We are still on a holiday schedule. And again, I apologize for doing this as a pastor. I like to change as little as possible, not just doctrinally, but just the schedule. And I'm not trying to confuse you because I know that it can get confusing. Our normal service is at 6 p.m. on Sunday night. For Christmas Eve, we started an hour early at 5 p.m. The goal is to have you out of here at 6 p.m. So you can have the rest of the evening to do whatever you normally do. Next week will be the opposite. We're going to start an hour later. We won't start at 6. We'll start at 7. I realize some of you will show up at 5 next week. And some of you will show up at 6 and whatever. But we'll have a 7 p.m. service. We'll have a normal Sunday night service like we normally do with favorites and all those things. Afterwards, we'll have a potluck. And then if you'd like to stick around, we'll have a popcorn machine. We'll watch a Christian film. If you stay all the way until midnight, we'll pray in the New Year together So we just want you to be aware of the holiday schedule next Sunday night. Not 5 p.m., not 6 p.m., 7 p.m. And then in January begins our 9 chapters a day challenge. You should have one of these charts there in your bulletin. And we want you to just be ready to read 9 chapters every day in the month of January. If you do that, you'll read the entire New Testament in the month of January. The whole church family will do it together. You'll have two grace period days. And you're going to want to be a part of that, all right? And if you accomplish the goal, we get a nice plaque made every year. We put everybody's name on it that does it, so make sure that you are aware of that. There's other things there for you to look at. If you're part of the cleaning crew, we want you to be aware that tomorrow's cleaning crew time has been moved to Tuesday. Obviously tomorrow's Christmas Day, so there'll be no cleaning crew on Monday, but it'll be Tuesday. Please make a note of that. There's other things there for you to look at. Don't forget to turn your cell phones off or place them on silent during the service so that they're not a distraction to anybody. You also should have this Christmas gift for Jesus insert if you'd like to participate with that. You're welcome to do that through the end of the year. If you look at the back of the bulletin, birthdays and anniversaries for the month of December, this week we have Brother Johnny and Miss Tamara Cervantes have an anniversary on December 26th. Nami Hur has a birthday on December 27th. Brother Ron and Miss Tina Kolak have an anniversary on December 27th. Malia has a birthday on December 27th. Penelope has a birthday on December 30th. And Miss Diane DiPasquale has a birthday on December 30th. Praise Report, Money Matters, all of those things are there for you to look at. We have 272 in church this morning, and praise the Lord for that. The Children's Choir did a wonderful job, and I know the adult choir will do a good job, but if they don't, just remember how well the kids did, all right? And that'll be good. We've got a good crowd here for Christmas Eve service, 223 in church tonight, so praise the Lord for that. All those are good numbers there. I think that's it for all of the announcements. So we're going to go ahead and sing the chorus of the week, which is the insert in your bulletin, as we prepare to receive the offering this evening. And then we'll have the adult choir sing for us tonight, Born to Die Upon Calvary, sing it out on the first. On the night Christ was born, Just before break of dawn, As the stars, the sky were fading. On the plains, where He lay, Fell a shadow, cold and grey, Of a cross that would humble a King. Born to Die Upon Calvary, Jesus suffered my sins again. Born to Die Upon Calvary, He was one that I might live, Just now on the second Jesus came. When He came, He won't suffer in shame, He could fail at the pain and sorrow. There at last, with His blood, He paid the price, My redemption to Jesus I own. Born to Die Upon Calvary, Jesus suffered my sins again. Born to Die Upon Calvary, He was one that I might live, Just now on the third from His throne, Jesus came, laid aside heaven's pain, In exchange for the cross, our God came. Born to Die Upon Calvary, He suffered loss for my sin, He bore the cross, He was wounded, And I was angry, Born to Die Upon Calvary, Jesus suffered my sins again. Born to Die Upon Calvary, He was wounded, but I might live. Dearest Lord, evermore, May Thy cross I adore, As I follow the path to Calvary. How I am, my partay, Thy ambition, Thy forsake, All my will I surrender to Thee. Born to Die Upon Calvary, Jesus suffered my sins again. Born to Die Upon Calvary, He was wounded, but I might live. Amen. Good singing. We'll have the guys come up and help us with the offering at this time. And let's go ahead and bow our heads and have a word of prayer. Heavenly Father, Lord, we do love You. Thank You for allowing us to gather together tonight. Lord, we pray that You would bless the time that we've set aside, of course, the singing, the special music. Lord, we pray for the preaching, of course, of Your word. And we ask that everything that's done tonight, we bring honor and glory to Your name. We pray that You bless the offering, the gift, and the giver. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. We pray that You would bless the time that we've set aside, of course, the singing, the special music. We pray that You would bless the time that we've set aside, of course, the gift, the special music. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. In Jesus' name we pray. In Jesus' name we pray. In Jesus' name we pray. In Jesus' name we pray. In Jesus' name we pray. At this time we're going to have our choir sing for us. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
