Let's go ahead and find our seats this evening. Find a seat, find a hymnal close to you. Turn to page number 411. Song number 411. Hold the fort is song number 411. Let's go ahead and sing it out. On the first. All my comrades see the signal waving in the sky. Reinforcements now appearing, victory is nigh. Hold the fort for I am coming, Jesus signals still. Wave the answer back to heaven by thy grace. Song number 411, sing it out on the second. See the mighty host advancing, tasting, leading on. Mighty men around respond and courage almost gone. Hold the fort for I am coming, Jesus signals still. Wave the answer back to heaven by thy grace. Be well. Song number 411, you guys are all situated, right? So we all can sing together. Song number 411, sing it out on the third. See the glorious man waving, hear the trumpet blow. In our leader's name we'll triumph over every fall. Sing it out. Hold the fort for I am coming, Jesus signals still. Wave the answer back to heaven by thy grace. We will spin it strong on the last. Fear isn't long, the battle rages, but our help is near. Onward comes our great command of cheer, my comrades cheer. Hold the fort for I am coming, Jesus signals still. Wave the answer back to heaven by thy grace. We will. Amen. Great singing. Welcome to Verity Baptist Church here on our Sunday evening service. We are so glad to see everyone here this evening. Let's open the service with a word of prayer. And we thank you for the opportunity to be in your house this evening. And we just thank you for everything. We pray now, Lord, that you bless the service. We pray for the singing, the preaching, and the fellowship. And we hope, Lord, that everything that be said and done this evening would only bring glory and honor to you. All right, well let's go ahead and take our bulletins. We'll look at some announcements real quickly. If you do not have a bulletin, just raise your hand and one of our ushers can get one for you. If you need a bulletin, just put your hand up and we'll get one for you. The verse this week, Psalm 118, 24, This is the day which the Lord hath made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. And that's a good verse there. We like that. If you open up your bullets and you'll see our service time, Sunday morning service, 10 30 a.m. We've had a wonderful service this morning. We're glad you're back out tonight for the evening service. And we do invite you to be with us on Wednesday night for the Wednesday night Bible study. We call it the most encouraging service of the week and we'd love for you to join us, of course, for the midweek service. And if you look at our announcements there, you'll see that we have our cleaning crew and appreciation dinner and training coming up on Friday, August 2nd at 6 p.m. So we just want to make sure that all of the cleaning crew is aware of the cleaning crew appreciation dinner. We want you to be a part of that. We want to, of course, appreciate you and we also have some training. So if you're part of the cleaning crew, if you could make it a priority to sign up and be there on Friday, August 2nd at 6 p.m. And if you'd like to be part of the cleaning crew, if you'd like to volunteer to be part of the cleaning crew, then you can also come to this dinner and appreciation and you can sign up on your communication card. And then, of course, all the ladies are invited to a baby shower for Ms. Rizel Lee Wilson on Saturday, August 10th at 3 p.m. And she is having a boy. She's registered on Amazon and it is a potluck. So if you can, please bring a dish to share and you can sign up on your communication card. And then also next week, Sunday, July 28th, begins the Family and Friend Day Choir and Orchestra Practices. So if you'd like to be part of the choir for Family and Friend Day, which is our church's 14-year anniversary, make sure that you are there or here in the auditorium at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 28th. It is open to new members, so if you haven't been in the choir before but you'd like to be, you're welcome to be a part of this meeting. It's 13 and up, 13 years old and up, are allowed to be part of the orchestra. And, of course, we have our Ladies' Weight Loss and Accountability Group. If you'd like to be a part of that, it's a group that my wife leads on Wednesday nights at 615 in her office. So just make note of that. And then upcoming cleaning crew schedule, you can see your schedule there. Of course, we appreciate your time and your faithfulness to that. If you look at also our soul winning times, of course, our Saturday morning soul winning time is at 10 a.m. and then we have additional soul winning times on Thursdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. I do want to remind our soul winners that if you've had any salvations, make sure you mark those on your communication card so that we can add it to the bulletin. If you have any maps that you did not finish, clearly mark what was done, what was not done, and put it in the bin in the foyer so that we can get those recycled through and get those done. And, of course, if you're running late to one of the meetings, you can call us or text us there at the number 916-868-9080. Let us know that you're planning on being there, but you're running late. That way our team captains can have a partner and a map and everything that you need. If you look at the announcements and upcoming events, excuse me, the birthdays and anniversaries on the back of the bulletin, you'll see the birthdays for July. And today, of course, is Ms. Kimmy Gester's birthday, so happy birthday to her. And then we have Brother Anthony and Ms. Sarah Coffney's anniversary on July 22nd. On July 23rd, we have Ms. Sandra Gibbs, Ms. Gina Academia, and Ms. Laura Beth Pompa's birthday. Brother Joseph Chesick has a birthday on July 24th. And Brother Edgar and Ms. Selena de Dios have an anniversary on the 27th. Praise Report, Money Matters, all of those things are there for you to look at. And then, of course, you have one of these cards there in your bulletin as well. And we are continuing to go through on Sunday mornings this rooted and grounded sermon series. And this is a sermon series to help people get rooted and grounded in the faith. It's to help them go further faster in the Christian life. And we're going to cover what I believe are just the most fundamental truths that every Christian needs to know. We're starting pretty basic on salvation. We've talked about, of course, works. And we talked about something that's confusing to a lot of people this morning, which is repent of your sins. Next week, we're going to talk about one saved, always saved. But we're going to get into a lot of different topics and different things. They'll get more complicated as we go. This, in the future, is going to serve as our discipleship course as well. It's a new discipleship course we're working on. So be excited about that and make sure that you are faithful to those services. And then, of course, tonight we're starting a brand new Bible study in the book of Obadiah. And we have a goal here of preaching through every book of the Bible. And we've done 45% of the Bible already in the last 14 years, but tonight we're starting Obadiah. And whenever we start, I always tell people the best time to be in church is when we start a new Bible study or a new sermon series. And I always tell people when we start a new series, plan to be. Just commit to be there for every service. Now sometimes, like when we just did the book of Numbers, that's quite a commitment. You know, I was 36 chapters and we're asking you to commit. Obadiah, it's one chapter. It's like 21 verses. So we're not going to cover it all in one sermon, but we'll probably be two, maybe three sermons in the book of Obadiah. So you can definitely make a commitment to be here for every sermon in the book of Obadiah. And you can make sure you know the book of Obadiah. You'll be able to write a whole commentary on that one chapter of the book of Obadiah and publish it. It'll be famous. It's going to be great. So anyway, we're glad that you're here for the book of Obadiah, of course. And then just lastly, if you're a first time guest, if it's your first time here at Verity Baptist Church, we're glad you're with us. We have a gift we'd like to give you as you walk out of the church building tonight. You'll see in our foyer a little table set up, and on that table you'll see these little gift bags. Please grab one on your way out as a gift from us to you. There are several resources in this bag that we'd like you to have. The one I'd like to highlight is this documentary that our church made. It's called Being Baptist. It's very well made, very interesting. We think you'll like it, and we want to give this to you as a gift. So please make sure you don't leave here tonight without grabbing the gift bag on your way out. And if you are a guest, we'd ask that you please take a moment to fill out the communication card, which is inserted in your bulletin. And if you need a pen, you can just raise your hand. One of our ushers will bring you by a Verity Baptist Church pen. And we'd love to have a record of your attendance. We actually would like to send you something, but we need your information to do that. So please take a moment to fill the card out. When we're done with the announcements, we're going to sing a song. When we're done singing, we're going to receive the offering. When we're done, you can drop those cards in the offering plate. Alright, let's go ahead and we're going to sing the chorus of the week at this time. And that is the insert there in your bulletin. And let's go ahead and sing, For me to live is Christ, to die is gain. And let's go ahead and sing it out on the first. For me to live is Christ, to die is gain. To know His Word and walk His narrow way. There is no peace, no joy, no thrill. Like walking in His will, for me to live is Christ, to die is gain. Let's sing it out on the second. Once my heart was full of sin and shame. Till someone told me Jesus came to save. When He said, Come unto me, He set my poor heart free for me to live. To die is gain. There are things that I still do not know. But of this one thing I'm completely sure. That He who called me on that day. Lost all my sins away for me. To live is Christ, to die is gain. Amen. Alright, well before we receive the offering, I do want to remind you, of course, that we are a family integrated church. Children and inventory is welcome in the service. We do not separate children from their parents for any reason, but we do have mother baby rooms, so make sure you use those. Make sure you turn your cell phones off and make sure that they are on silent so that they don't go off in the middle of the service. And let's go ahead and we'll have the guys come up and help us with the offering at this time. Let's bow our heads and have a word of prayer. Heavenly Father, Lord, we do love You. We thank You for allowing us to gather together tonight. Lord, we pray that You bless the offering, the gift, and the giver. We also pray that You bless the preaching of Your word as we open this new short book of the Bible. Help us to learn it, study it. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
