land I'll join the happy angel band Just over in the glory land Just over in the glory land There with the mighty host I'll stand Just over in the glory land Stage number 65 on the second I am on my way to those mansions fair Just over in the glory land There to sing God's praise and his glory share Just over in the glory land Just over in the glory land I'll join the happy angel band Just over in the glory land Just over in the glory land There with the mighty host I'll stand Just over in the glory land Stage number 65, let's sing it out on the third What a joyful thought that my Lord I'll see Just over in the glory land And with kindred saved there forever be Just over in the glory land Just over in the glory land I'll join the happy angel band Just over in the glory land Just over in the glory land There with the mighty host I'll stand Just over in the glory land On the last, with the blood washed throng I will shout and sing Just over in the glory land Glad Hosannas to Christ the Lord and King Just over in the glory land Just over in the glory land I'll join the happy angel band Just over in the glory land Just over in the glory land There with the mighty host I'll stand Just over in the glory land Great singing, welcome to Verity Baptist Church and the Wednesday evening Bible study Let's open up and order prayer Father God, thank you so much for this church Lord Thank you for these people who come out here on a Wednesday evening to serve you I pray that our singing would glorify you Lord I pray that you bless the service and I'm preaching to come In Jesus' name I pray, Amen Alright, turn to your song books, page number 451 We're going to be singing a new song, Where Could I Go So if you know this song, sing it out And if you don't know it, well we'll learn it together Page 451, Where Could I Go And let's go ahead and sing it out on the first verse Living below in this old sinful world Hardly a comfort can afford Driving alone to face temptation's sore Where could I go but to the Lord Where could I go, where could I go Seeking a refuge for my soul Meeting a friend to help me in the end Where could I go but to the Lord It's a pretty easy song, so let's sing it out Page 451 on the second Neighbors are kind, I love them everyone We get a long and sweet accord Of when my soul needs manna from above Where could I go but to the Lord Where could I go, where could I go Seeking a refuge for my soul Meeting a friend to help me in the end Where could I go but to the Lord On the last life here is grand With friends I love so dear Comfort I get from God's own word Yet when I face the chilling hand of death Where could I go but to the Lord Where could I go, where could I go Seeking a refuge for my soul Meeting a friend to help me in the end Where could I go but to the Lord Great singing! Amen, we want to welcome you to the midweek service here at Verde Baptist Church We're so glad that you are with us Let's go ahead and take our bulletin to look at some announcements real quickly If you do not have a bulletin, just raise your hand and one of our ushers can get one for you If you need a bulletin, just put your hand up and we will get one for you The verse this week is Colossians 3.14 and above all these things put on charity Which is the bond of perfectness And that's a good verse there We like that If you open up your bulletin, you'll see our service time Sunday morning service 10.30 a.m We do invite you of course to be with us on Sunday morning on the Lord's day for church And we have our Sunday evening service at 6 p.m. And then our Wednesday evening Bible study We're glad you're with us of course for the midweek service If you look at our soul winning times, our main soul winning time is on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. We'd love for you to join us of course for soul winning And then we have additional soul winning times on Thursdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. And we'd love for you to make it to one of those if you'd like as well If you are a first time guest, if it's your first time here at Verde Baptist Church We're glad you're with us We have a gift we'd like to give you As you walk out of the church building this evening If you go out our main foyer, you'll see a little table set up On the table you'll see these little gift bags Please grab one on your way out as a gift from us to you for being our guest this evening There are several resources in this bag that we'd like you to have The one I'd like to highlight is this documentary that our church made It's called Being Baptist Very well made, very interesting, we think you'll like it We want to give this to you as a gift So please make sure you don't leave here without grabbing one of these gift bags And if you are a guest, we'd ask that you please take a moment to fill out the communication card Which is inserted in your bulletin If you need a pen, you can raise your hand and one of our ushers will bring one to you We'd love to send you something, you can drop this off in the offering plate of course If you look at the announcements and upcoming events Excuse me, first of all, we are a family integrated church Children and infants are always welcome in the service So make sure you use the mother baby rooms if you need those If you have children that are being distracted during the service or anything like that If you look at the announcements and upcoming events This Sunday night is the safety is of the Lord's service We just want you to be aware of that And that'll be this Sunday night at 6pm And it's not going to be like a normal sermon We'll spend a few minutes in the word of God And then we're going to spend most of the preaching time Just going over some very practical things In regards to fire and earthquake and power outages and things like that And kind of the philosophy behind that Is that if we can train the church family once a year Every couple years or something like that Then hopefully if we ever need it There'll be enough of you who've received the training to know what to do Obviously we know that we're not going to cover everyone on a Sunday night But I think on a Sunday night we'll probably cover most of the faithful, core people And if you know what to do then you can help others So that's kind of the idea there And of course we're now in a new building So we want to make sure that you're aware of what are the different things that need to be done So we want to encourage you to be here on Sunday night for that We'll have pizza after the service out on the front lawn So we'll have a good time of fellowship of course with that as well And again this is just not the service that you want to be inviting some guests to I invite them Sunday morning But on Sunday night it's just going to be a little bit different of a service So just be aware of that And then all the ladies are invited to a baby shower for Miss Ariel Chaboyan on Saturday July 20th at 3pm Miss Ariel is having a girl and she's registered on Amazon And it is a Pollux so if you can please bring a dish to share Ladies weight loss and accountability group They meet on Wednesday nights at 6.15pm And this is a class that my wife leads And they meet in her office if you're interested in that And then an upcoming cleaning crew you can check for your name there Please don't forget to turn your cell phones off or place them on silent during the service So that they're not a distraction to anybody If you look at the back of the bulletin, birthdays and anniversaries for the month of July This week we had Miss Blanca Beale's birthday on July 7th Uretzi De Diosa's birthday on July 7th Miss Jacqueline De Diosa's birthday on July 7th as well For the Montel, Miss Lindsay Johnson had their anniversary on July 7th And we had him by baptism into death That like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father Even so we should walk in newness of life And we have pictures here for Khaleesi to remember the day of her baptism And let's go ahead and give her a round of applause, thank you And I think that's it for the announcement, so let's go ahead and take our song books We're going to go to page number that saved a wretch like me I once was lost but now am found Was blind but now I see 244 sing it out on the second Twas grace that taught my heart to fear And grace my fears relieved How precious did that grace appear Now I first believe Through many dangers toils and snares I have already come Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far And grace will lead me home Good singing out on the last When we've been there ten thousand years Being as the sun We've no less days to sing God's praise Than when we first begun Amen, good singing We'll have the guys come up and help us with the offering at this time And let's go ahead and bow our heads and have a word of prayer Heavenly Father, Lord, we do love you We thank you for allowing us to gather together tonight We pray you'd bless the offering, the gift and the giver We pray that you'd bless the time set aside for prayer And also for the preaching of your word In Jesus' name we pray, Amen Amen Amen Amen Amen Amen, alright well let's take our prayer sheets tonight We'll go through our prayer list If you did not receive a prayer sheet on your way in Please raise your hand and one of our ushers will get one for you If you need a prayer list there's a place for you to write down requests Make sure you mark whether it's private or public If it's private only I will see it If it's public we'll put it on the prayer sheet If you don't mark it we'll do our best to figure it out But we usually don't add those And we do add the requests in the order that they are received And they are removed after a couple of weeks So if you'd like it to be Bible please raise your hand And I know she can bring you a Bible Hebrews chapter 13 Just keep your hand up or she will come by Hebrews 13 we'll read verses 7 through 18 Hebrews 13 verses 7 through 18 Hebrews 13 we'll read verse 7 Remember them which have the rule over you Who have spoken unto you the word of God Whose faith follow Considering the end of their conversation Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines For it is a good thing that their heart be established with grace Not with meats which have not profited them That have been occupied therein We have an altar where they have no right to eat Which serve the tabernacle For the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought Into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin Are burned without the camp Wherefore Jesus also That he might sanctify the people with his own blood Suffered without the gate Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp bearing his reproach For here we have no continuing city For we seek one to come By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually That is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name To do good and to communicate forget not For with such sacrifices God is well pleased Obey them that have the rule over you And submit yourselves for they watch for your souls As they that must give account That they may do with joy and not with grief For that is unprofitable for you Pray for us For we trust we have a good conscience And all things willing to live honestly Let's pray Heavenly Father thank you for this evening God I thank you for our church and for your word I ask that you please give us all a tender heart to the message And as you be their pastor please strengthen him And fill him with your spirit We love you In Jesus' name we pray, Amen Amen Alright we're there in Hebrews chapter number 13 And of course on Wednesday nights we've been making our way through the book of Hebrews We're going verse by verse, chapter by chapter And we are nearing the end of this book We are in the last chapter, chapter 13 And if you remember last week we dealt with the first six verses of chapter 13 And we are going to pick up of course right where we left off In verse number 7 We dealt with verses 1 through 6 Tonight we'll pick up in verse 7 And we're not going to finish the chapter tonight We're just going to deal with a section tonight And then I think Lord willing next Wednesday night We will actually finish the book of Hebrews together As we close out the book together Tonight we are looking at this passage And I'm just going to go ahead and give you the points up front If you'd like to write them down or jot them down I always encourage you to take notes And in the back of your course of the week there's a place for you to do that And what we see in this passage of scripture In this portion of scripture of course If you remember from verses 1 through 6 The writer of Hebrews is ending this chapter Is ending the book with this chapter And this chapter is a very practical, applicable chapter And we saw last week in those six verses all sorts of exhortations And they all kind of had this theme And they had this theme of love And we learned about loving the brotherhood And love with the marriage And even the love of money and material things And then here what we're going to see in verses 7 through 9 And we're also going to look at a couple of other verses at the end of the chapter Is that there is this theme And the theme has to do with leadership And all three points are not about leadership But they're all connected to this idea of leadership And specifically spiritual leadership So if you're taking notes I can just give you the headings up front We'll move through them tonight But we're going to be looking at our leaders And we're going to be looking at our Lord And we're going to be looking at our learning We're going to consider our leaders Consider our Lord And consider our learning So we'll begin here with this idea of considering our leaders And you'll notice that in verse number 7 We have this verse that deals with spiritual leadership It says, Remember them which have the rule over you Who have spoken unto you the word of God Whose faith follow Considering the end of their conversation It's a common thing for preachers or pastors oftentimes To not want to speak on the subject of their own position Of leadership, spiritual leadership Of the position of a pastor Of what the Bible says that should be done for a pastor Or with a pastor And oftentimes the reason that preachers avoid that They avoid speaking on the position of a pastor When the Bible speaks on it Or even preaching on money Which I don't preach a lot about money But they avoid these things because they feel like They're maybe a little self-serving And preaching about yourself or your own position Maybe seems like you're being self-serving in regards to that I figured out a long time ago That if I don't teach you about how to treat your pastor No one else is going to teach you how to do it And if I don't teach you about these things Then no one else is going to do it So it's my job to teach you the whole counsel of God So I've done that and we've taught on these things However tonight I kind of have this get out of jail free card Because it's right here in the text And it's not me preaching any sort of issues or whatever It's just where we find ourselves in Hebrews chapter 13 Now what's interesting and what I want you to notice Is that you'll see that in this chapter And for the rest of this chapter You have this theme of leadership That is sprinkled through Because you'll notice there in verse 7 it says Remember them which have the rule over you And what he's talking about is spiritual leadership He's talking about those of us that hold positions of leadership Within the local church He's talking about preachers And he's saying that the pastor Or the spiritual leadership within the context of the church And we're going to talk about that here in a minute That they have the rule over you Regarding to spirituality and to the things of the church And just to be clear that he's referring to preachers He says who have spoken unto you the word of God So he's talking about leaders who speak the word of God Who teach the word of God And it says remember them which have the rule over you And I just want you to note the theme here of pastors Because notice these words and just remember these words Which have the rule over you Remember them which have the rule over you Who have spoken unto you the word of God Whose faith follow considering the end of their conversation Now you're there in Hebrews 13 and verse 7 Skip down to verse number 17 Same chapter, verse number 17 We just looked at verse 7, look at verse 17 And I want you to notice how the writer of Hebrews Just weaves this idea of leadership through the rest of this chapter In Hebrews 13 and 17 he says this Obey them that have the rule over you And you'll notice how that's very similar to verse 7 Remember them which have the rule over you Verse 17, obey them that have the rule over you And submit yourselves for they watch for your souls As they that must give account That they may do it with joy and not with grief For that is unprofitable for you And then I'd like you to notice if you look down at verse number 24 Same chapter, Hebrews 13, 24 He says this Salute all them that have the rule over you And all the saints they of Italy salute you So three different times in the end of this chapter In verse 7, verse 17, verse 24 He makes a reference to them which have the rule over you He says to remember them, he says to obey them And he says to salute them So we see here the role of spiritual leadership And specifically the role of a pastor Now keep your place there in Hebrews 13 That's our text for tonight But go with me if you would just real quickly To the book of 1 Thessalonians chapter number 5 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 If you go backwards, you go past the book of Philemon Past the book of Titus 2 Timothy, 1 Timothy, 2 Thessalonians Into 1 Thessalonians All those T books are all clustered together 1 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, Titus And you're going backwards Go into 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 And look down at verse number 12 I know you're familiar with these verses We've seen them before But first of all I just want to show you And I want you to notice That the Bible does speak about spiritual leadership And it speaks about the role of a pastor We saw it there in Hebrews 13 And though he says different things about it He says remember them which have the rule over you Who have spoken unto you the word of God Whose faith follow He says obey them that have the rule over you And submit yourselves for they watch for your souls As they that must give account That they may do with joy and not with grief For that is unprofitable for you He says salute all them that have the rule over you And I want you to notice The way that it's described in Hebrews 13 Is that the pastor or the spiritual leader Is to rule Now I realize that people don't like that word today But that's the biblical word The biblical word is the pastor is to rule And of course how far does that go We'll talk about that here in a minute The extent to which that goes is clear in scripture But I want you to notice that that's the wording The role of the pastor is that to rule In 1 Thessalonians 5 and verse 12 The Bible says this And we beseech you brethren To know them which labor among you Notice how it's worded here And are over you in the Lord And are over you in the Lord What is that referring to It's referring to spiritual authority The Bible teaches That in every area of life There are those who are over you And of course if we apply that to The home you know that a father and a mother Are over their children The Bible says that the husband is the head of the wife And they are over the wife And in a church setting the Bible teaches There are some people who are over you In every area of life Notice in the Lord though In the Lord they are over you And you say well who's that talking about And then notice here And admonish you The word admonish means to warn To counsel To give advice And he says look There are people spiritually Who are over you in the Lord Now I want to be clear about this When it comes to those of us Who hold positions of spiritual leadership We need to understand that In Christ we're all equal The Bible says there is neither Jew nor Greek There is neither bond nor free There is neither male nor female For we are all one in Christ Jesus So any pastor As far as their salvation is concerned Is a brother and sister in Christ A brother and Not a sister in Christ good night A brother in Christ And he is a brother along with the sisters in Christ But the position of a pastor And the office of a pastor Takes that person To not only being equal Among the congregation But also being over the congregation And being over the congregation In the sense that they are to lead Let me give you another example Keep your place there in 1 Thessalonians 5 We're going to come back in that direction And go back towards the book of Hebrews I'm sure you kept your place in Hebrews But I'd like you to go to 1 Peter From Hebrews, if you go past Hebrews You'll go past the book of James into 1 Peter While you turn there let me read to you from Acts 20 Acts 20 and verse 28 deals with this Situation as well Acts 20 and 28 says this Take heed therefore unto yourselves Now just you turn to 1 Peter And I'm going to read to you from Acts 20 But just for context the Apostle Paul Is meeting with the elders of Ephesus He's getting ready to leave Ephesus in Acts 20 He's meeting with them And he says to them, take heed therefore unto yourself Paul is speaking to elders To pastors of the churches of Ephesus And he says And to all the flock Over which the Holy Ghost Had made you overseers So he's talking to elders To pastors Take heed unto yourselves And you need to take heed Over the flock He says, unto all the flock And then he uses these words Over the which the Lord Had made you overseers The word overseer refers to someone Who is taking sight They are overseeing, they are supervising They are ruling over And he says, to feed the church of God Which he hath purchased with his own blood So I want you to notice that There is a role, the role of the pastor And biblically the role of the pastor Is the role of leadership The role of the pastor Is leadership over the church This is what the Bible teaches Are you there in 1 Peter chapter 5? 1 Peter chapter 5, look at verse number 1 1 Peter chapter 5 And verse number 1 The Bible says this, the elders And the word elder is just another word For pastor These words are used interchangeably The Bible says here, the elders Which are among you I exhort This is the apostle Peter Writing to spiritual leaders Here in 1 Peter 5 And then he says this, who am also an elder? So Peter is saying I'm writing to elders, I'm exhorting elders He says, I'm also an elder And witness of the suffering of Christ And also a partaker of the glory That shall be revealed Look at verse 2, notice what he says to them It's very similar to what Paul said in Acts 20 It says, feed the flock of God which is among you And then he says this Taking the oversight thereof And again the idea is that a pastor Is to be watchful, vigilant He's responsible Taking the oversight means that He is to take responsibility or he's responsible And he says not by constraint But willingly, not for filthy lucre Or of a ready mind So what is the role of a pastor? The role of a pastor is The role of leadership They are to rule within the congregation They are to take the oversight thereof They are to Be the leader in the church And obviously I believe the Bible teaches In servant leadership And I've taught extensively on that subject And I believe that all leaders Not just pastors, but anyone Who is smart Should practice servant leadership Which is taught by the Lord Jesus Christ Which means that we don't lead for our own benefit But we lead for the benefit of others We lead in order to try to Improve the lives of other people And try to help them But I want to be clear about the fact And I know you know this The Bible teaches that the pastor is in charge Because today you've got many churches All over this country that are not Pastor led churches They are deacon led churches And board of trustee led churches And they are Elder led churches And all sorts of different And you've got all sorts of different Systems that are out there Today The Bible teaches that the local New Testament Church ought to be a pastor led Church It should not be led by some sort of board Or some sort of council But it should be led by a leader And by the way, that's what you see all throughout the Bible In every area of life God doesn't say in the home You create this council Between the father and the mother And the children And you all vote together and decide No, it says the husband is in charge The husband is to rule In a nation there is to be a man Who takes the lead And who takes the leadership That's how God works So in the church we have the pastor leading The role of the pastor is to lead However, with that said Let me say this The role of a pastor is the role of leadership The role of a pastor The Bible teaches against this idea Of pastors Lording over God's heritage You're there in 1 Peter 5 Look at verse 2 again He said, feed the flock of God which is among you Taking the oversight thereof But then notice what he says He says, not by constraint Not by forcing people This isn't a cult Where we make you do anything We don't make you do anything A local Biblical church is not going to force you To do anything You say, what is the influence of a pastor On the people The influence of a pastor The only power that I hold is the power of the pulpit Is to open up the word of God And preach the word of God And to allow the Holy Spirit To work in your heart and in your mind And for you to make decisions for God And to live for God But we don't constrain you to do anything We don't make you tithe We don't make you serve or make you go soul winning Or do any of those things The Bible says that We are to Take the oversight thereof And we are to feed the flock of God But it says Not by constraint He says, but willingly Not for filthy lucre But of a ready mind And you know the average false preacher In America today These words are exactly Why they're in the ministry They're in the ministry for filthy lucre sake And you know there's a lot of men today That are in the ministry Because there's good money to be made in the ministry You've got your Joel Osteens Your T.D. Jakes And your Billy Grahams And all these types of individuals Who they preach the word of God Not because they care about the word of God But because they're getting rich off the word of God And these are not biblical preachers These are not true men of God Not by constraint But willingly Not for filthy lucre But of a ready mind Neither as being lords Over God's heritage But being in samples to the flock So the Bible teaches that we are not to be lords Over God's heritage That we are not to dictate Into people's personal lives And again It seems simple Oftentimes so many people are messed up on this And I think it's just worth talking about it And making sure you understand it In church Within the ministry of a local church And of course we're at Verity Baptist Church So we'll just talk about our church as an example When it comes to Verity Baptist Church When it comes to the ministry of Verity Baptist Church When it comes to the ministries of Verity Baptist Church All the different ministries that we have around here Whether it's the ushers Or the safety team Or the orchestra Or the choir Or the soul winning captains And the clothes closet All the different things that happen around here The Bible says that the pastor is to rule And he is to be the leader He is to make the decisions And there's no taking of a vote There's no I mean you can give your opinion If you want But just because you give your opinion Doesn't mean I have to listen to it You know when we moved into this Building My wife and I Chose this green color And I didn't ask anybody what you thought about it We just painted the wall green And we put up Ron's Letters, I think it looks good And I think most of you probably think it looks good But even if you don't think it looks good I don't care Because within the ministry of the church The pastor is to rule and to lead He's to take the oversight He's to decide, we decide what songs We decide how the service goes We decide what kind of style we have Look, those decisions are made by a pastor So we are to lead Within the ministry And you are to just submit and say Hey, if that's what the pastor wants Then we're going to go that direction That's what we're going to do Obviously if the pastor begins to sin Or begins to teach heresy Then you don't have to stick around for that And you can leave and go to another church But when you decide to be a member Of that church, you are deciding to allow The pastor to lead Within the congregation And within the borders of the ministry Of that church You say well when does his authority To rule end It ends outside Of the boundaries of ministry So look, I'm never going to Walk into your house and tell you How to dress or what to watch Or what to do or what to not do Within your home If you ask me for advice, I'll give you advice If you ask for my counsel, I'll give you counsel And of course, often many of you Do But I'm not going to tell you How to live your life And look, there's just these extremes When it comes to ministry You've got one extreme of people Who wants the pastor to just be A puppet And to boss the pastor around And tell the pastor what to do And the pastor can't lead And that's wrong But then you also have another extreme of churches Where the pastor is literally running people's lives And you've heard me say this before But I've grown up In church my whole life And I've literally known of churches Where people, they don't buy a house Without the pastor's approval They don't buy a car Without the pastor's approval They don't make any sort of financial decisions Without the pastor's approval And that is not the kind of church I want to run Now some of you might be smart To ask for some advice Sometimes I see people buy houses And I'm thinking to myself, what are you doing? Why are you doing that? But you know, if you don't ask me I'm not going to give you my thoughts And that's between you and God Now if you want my opinion I think your life should revolve around church And if you want my opinion I'd live as close to church as possible Because our lives are supposed to be If you're going to be in church Sunday morning You're supposed to do everything you're supposed to do The point that I'm making is this You make your own decisions And look, don't call me To ask, you know, should I buy a blue car or a red car? Don't call me I don't care I don't have time to waste with that You know And now of course I'll give you advice if you need real advice Blue and red car, I don't care You do whatever you want The point is this That we are not to lord over God's heritage So that's what the pastor is supposed to do He's supposed to take oversight He's supposed to lead, he's supposed to make decisions He's supposed to try to keep the church going And keep the church healthy And keep the church growing And not lord over God's heritage I use the power of the pulpit And the influence of preaching the word of God To try to teach you and try to tell you What you should do or shouldn't do As far as your personal life That's between you and God You make those decisions And you're the one that's going to stand before God In regards to those things That's the role of the preacher Now let's look at the role of the people Go back to Hebrews 13 if you would Because the writer of Hebrews actually says more about the role of the people Than he does the role of the pastor Now I sometimes talk about the role of the pastor Just to explain some things to you But he's actually instructing the people And telling them what it is that they're supposed to do And I want you to notice that he says several things to them The first thing is this He says remember them Remember them Look at Hebrews 13 7 Remember them which have the rule over you Who have spoken unto you the word of God Whose faith follow Considering the end of their conversation So here he's specifically telling The congregation You have a pastor God gave you a pastor God gave you a pastor Ephesians 4 says that the pastor is a gift That he's given to the church And that leadership is a gift in your life But then he says Here's what you're supposed to do You're supposed to remember them Remember them And then he specifically tells you You say well what am I supposed to remember about them He tells you specifically what you're supposed to remember He says remember them Which have the rule over you What do you want me to remember? Remember them who have spoken unto you The word of God You know what you should actively be trying to remember In regards to your pastor Is his preaching The preaching of the word of God Your job is to remember them Which have the rule over you Who have spoken unto you the word of God Now I know I literally just preached the whole sermon about this on last Sunday night So I'm going to try not to get on that rabbit trail for too long But it's here And I can't help myself It's just here How are you supposed to remember The words that he has spoken unto you From the word of God When you're sitting in the parking lot talking during the preaching When you're sitting in the foyer talking during the preaching When you're sitting in a mother baby room Or a daddy room On your phone messing around during the preaching The Bible literally is telling you What do I need to remember About them which have the rule over you Who have spoken unto you the word of God He says Why don't you remember what they've spoken to you of the word of God And look I'm just telling you Even if you're like Well I don't go out in the foyer and I don't go out there And I don't mess around Just because you're sitting here doesn't mean you're paying attention either And look When you come to church you should be like One of the Bereans who Prepared their hearts to receive the word With all readiness of mind You should be ready to receive the word of God Don't just come here and sit here You say well I'm just a teenager and my parents drag me here Or my wife drags me here or whatever You know when you're here Listen, engage, open your Bible, turn to the passages, take notes Be engaged because God Says you have to try to remember The preaching of the word of God Because It'll help you He says remember them, you say what should I remember Remember their preaching Try to remember the preaching, try to remember The things that you're being taught, get engaged And learn and pay attention and open Your eyes and turn to the passages Look at the verses and mark In your Bible and write in your Bible Or take notes, do these things to try to remember them He says remember them Who have spoken unto you the word of God If you would go back to 1 Thessalonians 5 I think you'd get your place there 1 Thessalonians 5, continue to keep your place there in 1 Thessalonians 5 if you would Look at verse 12 He says and we beseech you brethren To know them which labor among you And are over you By the way If you do the ministry right It's work I know there's a lot of lazy scoundrels out there Who are in the ministry and they spend more time golfing Than doing anything else You know the Bible says that he that desireth The work of the ministry desireth a good thing It's work, ministry is work He says and we beseech you brethren To know them which labor among you Notice They are to labor among you But they are also over you So the pastor is not exempt from working He's not exempt from soul winning The pastor doesn't say, you go soul winning And then he doesn't go soul winning, no He's to labor among you And are over you in the Lord Notice these words, and admonish you And admonish you That's the preaching of the word of God You have to try to remember the things that you are being taught They're going to help you You're going to need them And maybe some of these sermons you listen to them and you're like Well I'm not in that stage of life I don't have children yet Your job is to try to remember What has been said to you Of those men who have spoken Unto you the word of God They're admonishing you They are counseling you And you should remember, look at verse 13 And to esteem them very highly To show respect And to give them respect In love for their works sake And be at peace Among yourselves And you know, I realize that most of you If you've never preached a sermon And you probably never will preach a sermon Then that's okay So you just maybe aren't going to understand this But getting up and preaching A sermon that is actually helpful to people Is a lot of work Not just the delivery The deliveries work as well But the writing And the studying All of that is work And those of you men who've had the opportunity to preach I know you know it Because they're always very appreciative You know They spend a lot of time Praise the Lord for it Studying and learning and teaching And getting ready for one sermon Every once in a while When I ask men to fill in for me And I appreciate that And they're like, man, that's a lot of work And I think to myself, yeah, try doing it three times a week You know, it's the same guy preaching to the same people And you've got to be funny And all those things You know, and energetic And always enthusiastic It better be interesting Or I'm going to go hang out in that mother baby room And be on YouTube The Bible says you ought to esteem them very highly For their work's sake And you know, every once in a while Let him preach a dud That's okay Not every sermon has to be a home run Keep your place on it Go back to Hebrews 13 So you are to remember their preaching But I want you to notice Not only are you to remember their preaching You're also to remember their pattern Look at verse 7 again Remember them which have the rule over you Who have spoken unto you the word of God Look at these words Whose faith follow Whose faith follow Considering the end Of their conversation You ought to listen to their preaching And you ought to follow The Bible says Their faith Considering the end of their conversation The word conversation is an older word That we don't use much today When we use the word conversation We're talking about talking back and forth with an individual But in your King James Bible The word conversation means lifestyle And the Bible says That God has given you a pastor Listen to me God has given you a pastor God has given you a pastor's wife Whose faith you should follow Considering the end of their conversation Considering the end of their lifestyle And here's what I just It kills me And I just, I don't understand it But it's something that people do So it's just a thing But you know God gave you a pastor and a pastor's wife Why are you It's always interesting to me How you have these young Christians You know these 18, 19, 20 year olds Who just got married And you have one kid or two kids And then they're asking the other guy with one kid You know, advice And it's like He doesn't know anything, just like you don't know anything But you know You don't have a pastor and a pastor's wife Who've actually been I mean we've been in ministry for almost 14 years We've been married for 20 years The Lord has blessed us with six children I'm not saying we're perfect, but look God says That when you have a question You ought to Look at your pastor and your pastor's wife And follow their faith Considering they're in their conversation So you have a question I wonder what I should do with my kids In this situation The Bible says it's godly, in fact it's biblical For you to look at your pastor's family and say Well here's what they're doing You want to know what our dress standards are You say I'm not sure about dress standards I wonder what dress standards should be You know, I'll teach it and I'll preach it Obviously I'm not going to preach on dress standards Every service and every sermon But you know, something you could do if you're curious about our dress standards Is just look at how my wife dresses I wonder how a Christian lady should dress When it's 112 degrees outside Well look at how my wife dresses When it's 112 degrees outside And she went soul winning Look at how our daughters are dressed Like the Bible says you're supposed to look And remember, and obviously You know we're getting older and we're in a different stage of life Now when we were having children And we had little babies It was really easy for us to model a lot of things As to what you should do and shouldn't do with children Now we're kind of out of that So you know what that means That means that you are going to have to Take the initiative to actually ask questions And say hey Miss Jo And you know honestly There are many ladies in this church That are always calling my wife And texting my wife and asking her questions about This and that with babies or whatever And that's why And because the Bible says That you are to remember You should remember their preaching And you should remember their pattern And look the truth is this Our job as those of us in ministry Is to live our lives in such a way Where you can look at us and say oh That's what a Christian home is supposed to look like That's what a Christian marriage looks like That's what a Christian man looks like And that's how a Christian lady looks like You don't have to turn here I'll just read these for you In 1 Timothy 4.12 the Bible says Let no man despise thy youth This is Paul speaking to a preacher He says but be thou an example of the believers In 1 Peter 5.3 He says neither is being lords over God's heritage But being in samples to the flock And look here's what I'm telling you And you take it however you want But in the Christian life The writer of Hebrews is saying You need to remember your pastor And he's not just talking about the pastor He's talking about the pastor and the pastor's wife and the whole family Obviously the children Children aren't in ministry They didn't ask to be in ministry So you shouldn't be holding the children of a pastor It's always funny to me how people Hold the pastor's kids more accountable than their own kids It's like well they're just kids But what you can't judge is what we do with our kids You say well what does this look like Well what does this look like? Look at your pastor The Bible says remember them Which have the rule over you Who have spoken unto you the word of God Whose faith follow considering the end of their conversation So you ought to remember Remember what? They're preaching, remember their pattern They're there to be in a sample And look I'm not saying and we're not saying that we're perfect And that everything we do is right But we've got some experience and there's some things we can tell you If you'd ask If you'd try to remember Let me try to remember What is that mystery When Miss Joanne used to be in the mother baby room What did she do? I'll tell you what she didn't do She wasn't there playing Monopoly She wasn't messing around on her phone She was paying attention to the sermon with the notebook Taking notes At least that's what she tells me I know that's what she was doing You ought to remember them They're preaching and their pattern Then notice a second thing You ought to do with your pastor Not only should you remember them They're preaching and their pattern The Bible says you should obey them Look at verse 17 again Obey them That have the rule over you And submit yourselves This all has to do with Obedience and putting yourself Under the authority Again this is spiritually Obey them and submit yourselves Here's why Watch for your souls You know my job as a pastor Is not only to lead for your benefit But my job as a pastor is also to preach For your benefit That's why you should be careful about And I spoke about this Not too long ago But you should be careful about being this person I think he's preaching about me Well good, listen to it then If it applies to you Then listen to it And if the shoe fits, put it on Cinderella Obey them Obey them that have the rule over you And submit yourselves For they watch for your souls Now look, you don't have to listen You can do whatever you want But here's the truth If you don't listen So what if I go to church, the pastor preaches Here's what you should do as a husband, here's what you should do as a wife Here's what you should do with your children, here's what you should do with your finances Here's what you should do with your health, here's what you should do All the things the Bible says about how to live the Christian life Here's how you should work And here's how you should act when you're at home And what if I don't listen to any of that? What if I don't listen to any of that? Listen to me You only hurt yourself You understand that? You're not going to hurt us We're, you know I preach about marriage I teach about marriage My wife gives advice about marriage or raising children You know Whether you listen and take the advice or not You know I get to go home with my well-behaved children And I'm not saying my kids are perfect But I can take all six of them in an airport, in an airplane and not be embarrassed How are you doing with your brat? And I'm just saying You don't have to listen You don't have to spank them The Bible says you ought to spank them You say, well I don't think I ought to spank them Okay, it's only going to hurt you Only going to hurt your marriage It's only going to hurt your relationship If you don't listen, it will hurt you Obey them that have the rule over you And submit yourselves For they watch for your souls As they that must give account That they may do it with joy and not with grief Here's the key For that is unprofitable for you It's unprofitable for you To not listen, to not obey It hurts you But you know there's also this If you don't listen, that will hurt you But if you don't listen That will also hurt us Hurt me, hurt my wife Hurt those of us in ministry Look at it, look at what he says Obey them that have the rule over you And submit yourselves for they watch for your souls As they that must give account Look at these words That they may do it with joy And not with grief And the truth is this That you not paying attention And not listening and not obeying The commands of God That's not going to hurt my life As far as whether I'm obeying Or whether my wife's obeying Or whether we're doing what God has called us to do But it's going to hurt us To see your life fall apart And I would say that one of the hardest things Of ministry is watching people Self destruct And watching people Their marriages bleed out Their relationships bleed out And it's all these self inflicted wounds And you think to yourself If you would just listen If you would just ask someone Who's a little more ahead of you In life, in this Christian life Some counsel This wouldn't have to happen But the Bible says that often times We Live the ministry Whether we do it in joy Or with grief Has to do with you And whether or not you obey and submit So he says remember them They're preaching in their pattern He says obey them Why? Because if you don't it'll hurt you And if you don't it also hurts us Because it causes us To walk through the ministry Not with joy But with grief And then I want you to notice thirdly That he tells The writer of Hebrews here tells his congregation That he's speaking to these believers Notice verse 24 he says salute them So he says remember them He says obey them He says salute them Notice what he says verse 24 He says salute all them That have the rule over you And all the saints They of Italy salute you He commands them, he says well this is just the ending of a book Is there anything spiritual here? He's commanding them to salute To salute them that have the rule over you You know often times people get offended They'll say oh the pastor didn't shake my hand Miss Joanne didn't say hi to me Or something silly like that But you know the Bible And obviously the Bible tells us To be given to hospitality And we want to be friendly and kind and reach out to you But you know the Bible also commands you to salute them Which have the rule over you And here's what I'm saying I was talking to brother Jose This was a couple weeks ago we were talking about About this and he brought up to me Cause we went to the same church When I was a kid we went to the same church And he brought up to me our old pastor Pastor Ramos Who's passed away And he's in heaven now But he was telling me how Pastor Ramos Would tell He was telling me how he remembers Pastor Ramos Often telling people cause people would complain like So and so didn't say hi to me and this person didn't say hi And he would say to them The distance between that person to you Is the same as the distance from you and that person As many steps as it takes For them to come say hi to you It takes that same amount of steps for you to go say hi to them It's funny to me Pastor didn't call me You know these phones they're interesting You can call both ways Pastor didn't call me I was missing for three weeks Pastor didn't call me Well you missed a lot of three weeks Number one You know you can call too It says Salute all them That have the rule over you People get all better Pastor missed Joanne They went to Prince Edward Island And they didn't tell anybody We just showed up and they weren't here It's funny how you don't tell me when you're not gonna show up I mean there's some of you That's the minority The minority that says hey pastor I'm sick I'm not gonna be there on Wednesday night or I'm out of town I'm gonna be in a different church You don't tell me when you're not gonna be here The Bible says Salute them And here's all I'm saying to you Is that before you get all bent out of shape That someone didn't say hi or someone didn't call Or somebody didn't this or somebody didn't that Well you can do it too And look apply that to the whole congregation Sister so and so didn't say hi to me Did you say hi to her? Well no but she was over there And she could have walked this way Well you could have walked that way Well she walked by me, you let her walk by you He walked by me Well then he walked by you Why didn't you say hello? He says remember them Obey them Salute them So he's telling us to consider You gotta consider your leadership Notice he says to consider our Lord Look at verse number 8 Hebrews chapter 13 and verse 8 He says Jesus Christ The same yesterday and today And forever Now it's interesting because to me One of the reasons I enjoy Going verse by verse, chapter by chapter Through books of the Bible is because it forces you To deal with the context Cause Hebrews 13 and 8 is the kind of verse And it's a great verse and there's nothing Nothing really wrong with this But it's the kind of verse that people just like to quote And pull out of its context And that's fine, no problem with that Jesus Christ, the same yesterday and today and forever This is what we would call a proof text This is a proof text For example, specifically here For the theological Term for the doctrine would be the Immutability of God The fact that God does not change And we believe that We believe in the immutability of God You need a proof text, Hebrews 13a Jesus Christ, the same yesterday and today and forever Praise the Lord for that However, what's interesting to me Is that that verse, Jesus Christ The same yesterday and today and forever Is within the context of Remember them which have the rule over you And submit yourselves For they watch for your soul They must give account that they may do it with joy Or obey them And follow them Within the context of leadership Within the context of leadership he says Remember them which have the rule over you And then in verse 8 he says Jesus Christ, the same yesterday and today and forever Why would he say that? Here's why Because sometimes your leader is going to fail you They're going to fail to call Right? They're going to forget your birthday They're going to There's leaders who fall into sin Leaders die And go to heaven The truth of the matter is this That pastors Come and go And sometimes they come and go Because of sin And hopefully that never happens Here or any of the churches that we're affiliated with But it happens Sometimes they come and go Just because they grow old and they die Good men, good pastors Leaders come and go And here's the point Pastors come and go But Jesus remains the same Pastors come and go But Jesus is always the same Jesus Christ, the same yesterday And today and forever And here's what I want to say in regards to this And I'll move quickly on this The Bible teaches that you have to follow leaders And you have to follow leaders As they follow Christ Don't be this person Who bucks leadership in the name of Christ There's these hyper spiritual people out there saying I don't follow a man, I just follow Christ Well the problem with that Is that the Bible says Be followers of me Even as I also am of Christ So you say well I don't follow a leader I just follow Christ Well the problem with that is that God created authority And God gave authority in your life And when you don't follow the authority in your life You're not following Christ So don't So don't become this hyper spiritual Person who bucks leadership And says I just follow Christ Well if you're going to follow Christ And you're going to get yourself into the institution Which he died for The local New Testament church And you're going to find a pastor in charge of that church Be followers of me Even as I also am of Christ Christ and God always Uses human leadership You don't have to turn here Actually go ahead and turn here Go to Judges chapter 7 Look at verse 16 I like these verses In regards to They illustrate I think leadership very well Judges chapter 7 in the Old Testament Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges Judges chapter 7 This is the famous story of Gideon Remember Gideon and his 300 men Judges chapter 7 and verse 16 The Bible says this Gideon divided the 300 men into 3 companies So he has 300 men He's going against an innumerable multitude And he put a trumpet in every man's hand With empty pitchers And lamps within the pitchers, verse 17 And he said unto them This is beautiful leadership This is a picture of leadership And he said unto them Look on me and do likewise That's what a leader should always be able to say Whether it's a pastor Or a boss at work Or a husband at home Wherever you find yourself in a leadership position Always be able to say these words Look on me and do likewise And behold when I come to the outside of the camp It shall be that Look at what he says, Gideon He says, as I do, so shall ye do You know what every father and mother should say to their children Is this As I do, so shall ye do Look on me and do likewise Look at verse 20 though Judges chapter 7, verse 20 And the 3 companies blew the trumpet And break the pitchers And held the lamps in their left hand And the trumpets in their right hand To blow withal And they cried, now notice what they cried You know the story, I'm not going to go into all detail of the story But they blow the trumpet They scare this multitude into thinking there's more of them than there actually is And then they cry But when they cry They cry something very spiritual They say, the sword of the Lord But then they also say this Anne of Gideon Anne of Gideon You say, why did they say that? Because they were following the Lord The sword of the Lord, they're following God But they're also following Gideon See, it's the sword of the Lord, Anne of Gideon And in our lives We ought not to buck leadership In our lives If they're spiritual authority and God-given leadership Then you ought to follow them And you should not Stop following leadership Because you're following Christ That's impossible It's the sword of the Lord, Anne of Gideon But let me say this Go back to Hebrews 13 or wherever you're at I'm not sure If your leader stops following Christ You say, what do you do? What do I do if my pastor quits? My pastor leaves What do I do if the leadership in my If people I looked up to They quit and they fail and they don't do right And they mess up or whatever And they change and their standards say What do I do? Well here's what you don't do, you don't quit on God Because Jesus Christ Is the same yesterday and today and forever And if your leadership changes If your leadership fails If the leadership fails you Jesus never fails you So Don't buck Christ Because of leadership How many people are out there Who say, I quit going to church because of the pastor I quit going to church because of the staff I quit going to church because of the leadership Hey, maybe leadership fails you And maybe they have a bad day Maybe they treat you in some way they shouldn't have But you know who never mistreats you Is the Lord Jesus Christ So we ought not buck leadership For Christ But we also ought not buck Christ Because of leadership We follow Like Paul said Follow me as I follow Christ You follow your God given leadership As they follow Christ, so what if they stop following Christ And you keep following Christ Because he is the same yesterday, today and forever Go back to Hebrews 13, look at verse 9 Let me give you the last one We're considering our leaders We saw the role of the pastor It is the role of leadership not lordship We saw the role of the people, they are to remember They are to obey, they are to salute We're considering our Lord And the consideration of our Lord Is that leaders come and go But Jesus Christ remains the same Yesterday and today and forever And I want you to notice thirdly We ought to consider our learning Our learning, verse 9 He brings up the subject of learning He says be not carried about with diverse and strange doctrines He said look Make sure that the doctrines Refers to the things we believe and teach And make sure they're not diverse and strange doctrines Don't be the type of person who's always looking for something new Don't be the type of person who's always looking for something new If it's new it's not true Because there's no new thing under the sun Be not carried about with diverse and strange doctrines For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace You know it is important That we be doctrinally sound But I want you to notice that this too Is connected to this idea of leadership Let me show it to you quickly and we'll be done Go to Ephesians chapter 4 Ephesians chapter 4 You've got Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, 1st, 2nd Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians Ephesians chapter 4 Look at verse 11 He said be not carried about with diverse and strange doctrines Have to do with Obey them that have the rule over you For they watch for your souls Remember them which have the rule over you Obey them to you the word of God Salute them which have the rule over you Well notice he says I want you to not be carried about with diverse and strange doctrines For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace In Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 11 I referenced this earlier but I just want you to see it quickly Ephesians 4 and 11 The Bible says and he gave some This is God giving He gave some, he gave some apostles And some prophets and some evangelists And some pastors and teachers Different believers through the ages have had different leaders He gave you a pastor We don't live in the time where he's given you an apostle or a prophet In verse 12 he says He says here's why Why did he give apostles? Why did he give prophets? Why did he give evangelists? Why did he give you a pastor and teachers? Why? Verse 12 For the perfecting of the saints The word perfect means to complete The completing of the saints My job as a pastor Is to try to help you become whole And complete in your Christian life He says for the perfecting of the saints Then he says this For the work of the ministry You say yeah but every time you preach You're trying to get us to do something Go soul wedding and serve or whatever Well he gave you a pastor to help you get busy In the work of the ministry For the edifying of the body of Christ When I help perfect the saints And when I motivate the saints In the work of the ministry It edifies the body of Christ Look at verse 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith That's doctrine And of the knowledge of the son of God Unto a perfect man A complete man Unto the, look at the wording here Has to do with growth and maturity Unto the measure of the stature Of the fullness of Christ See the truth is this That the goal is God The goal is Christ You see what is the goal in the Christian life Why do we come to church Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night Why do we listen to preaching and the preaching of the word of God What is the point? The point is this that God has predestinated you And God has predestinated me To be conformed unto the image of his son We're not trying to help you Become better in life Just for the sake of being better We want to help you become better But you know what we're trying to do Is to try to get you to be more like the Lord Jesus Christ Every day We're trying to get you to the place Where you come To the unity of the faith And to the knowledge of the son of God Unto a perfect man Unto the measure of the stature Of the fullness of Christ And that work is never going to be done in us We're trying to get you to be more like Christ Every day And one way to do that Is to teach you doctrine Verse 14 That we henceforth be no more children See if we're trying to get you to be mature We're trying to get you to not be children Here's what a spiritual child does That you be no more children Tossed to and fro And carried about With every wind of doctrine By the slight of men And cunning craftiness Whereby they lie in wait to deceive See our goal And my job And the reason by the way That here at Radio Baptist Church We teach and preach the Bible In heavy doses and every time you come here I mean you might get a story every once in a while You might get a joke every once in a while Half the time if I make you laugh It's not on purpose Half the time I'm not even sure why you're laughing I'm serious right now I'm not even sure why you're laughing But you know the truth is this Why is it that we give you the Bible In heavy doses? Why? So that you'll grow spiritually So that you'll know what you believe So that you won't turn on the TV Or the radio And hear some false prophet And be carried about with every wind of doctrine By the slight of men And cunning craftiness Whereby they lie in wait to deceive You need to know what you believe And see That is actually what makes you immature Now some of you are actually physically immature You're young children or you're teenagers And that's okay Some of you are immature spiritually Just because you're a babe in Christ Maybe you just recently got saved And that's okay too Some of you are babes in Christ because you're lazy You're old physically and you've been saved for a long time But you're not growing because you're not reading your Bible You're not putting work into it But the point is this You are mature once you know what you believe When you follow what the Bible says and you know See, it's not Why do you dress like that? Well, because pastor says so Wrong answer Why do you not engage in this sort of activity? Well, I don't know, that's what pastor said Wrong answer You're mature and you're growing And you're becoming perfect in Christ When you say, no I don't do it because Pastor says, pastor did say it But I do it because here's what the Bible says And here's what the word of God says And I actually love Jesus Christ And I love the Lord And I want to honor him with my life And I'm trying to be more like Christ everyday And because I love him, I'm trying to draw close to him And I'm becoming more like him That's the Christian life And look, I'm just here to tell you this Just a secret for the ministry When you get a group of people Who say, I'm not just playing games This is not just religion to me I'm serious about this I love the word of God I love the Lord Jesus Christ I want to know what the Bible says And I want to follow it I want to live it I'm trusting the word of God And I want to live out my life in that way I want my marriage to be patterned after the Bible I want to be more like Christ everyday When you can get a group of people Even a small group of people To begin to actually live that way The ministry becomes a lot of fun It's a lot of joy But you know when you got a bunch of carnal people Care more about their money, their pleasure Their secular self Who'd rather be out there joking around Messing around and hearing the word of God That's when it becomes a grief That they may do it with joy And not with grief For that is unprofitable for you So you want to know why God gave you a pastor Is to help you grow But grow in grace And in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ To Him be glory Both now and forever Amen Let's bow our heads and have a word of prayer Heavenly Father Lord we do love you We thank you for this passage of scripture And I know it's a unique passage Dealing with leadership And some things that may seem a little random But Lord I Pray you'd help us to make the connections And understand That you have given us Leaders in our lives And Lord I thank you for the leaders you've placed in my life There have been leaders in my life And there are people that I still look to As leaders and authority in my life And I appreciate them And they're not perfect They're not God But even when leadership fails us The Lord Jesus Christ is the same yesterday Today and forever Lord I pray you'd help us to learn these lessons And understand these things In Jesus' name we pray Amen Alright we're going to have Brother Moses come up and lead us in a final song Just want to remind you a couple of things And the main thing is That this coming Sunday night Is the safety is of the Lord's service So we just want you to be aware of that And remember we're going to have pizza After the service So you don't have to worry about dinner We'll take care of dinner for you on Sunday night And we will spend a little time in the word of God But we're going to mainly be going over practical things And look you might think to yourself Like ah you know I don't need to come for that And whatever that's fine Being with God's people is always good We're even going to talk about things to do In the case of an active shooter Obviously, hopefully, Lord willing Nothing like that ever happens here But you don't know You might find yourself in a grocery store one day When an active shooter shows up And the training we're going to give you here Is going to help you there So everything we do here is meant to help you grow and learn So I want to encourage you to be with us It will be a very interesting service We'll talk about some very specific things In regards to emergencies And then we'll have fellowship with pizza After the service So make sure you make plans to be here for Sunday night Of course we have church on Sunday morning We're starting a brand new sermon series this Sunday morning And I want to encourage you to be here for that As we kick that off And then of course we have soul winning Thursday And Saturday morning our big soul winning rally We'd love you to join us for that If there's anything we can do for you please let us know We'll have brother Moses come up and lead us in a final song Turn to your song book page number 397 Page 397 We're going to sing a little as much God is in it Page 397 And let's go ahead and sing it out on the first In the harvest field Now ripen There's a work For all to do Now ripen There's a work For all to do Now ripen There's a work For all to do Hark the voice Of God is calling To the harvest Calling you Little is much When God is in it Labor not For wealth or fame There's a crown And you can win it If you go In Jesus name There's a place You're called to labor Seems so small And little known It is great If God is in it And he'll not Forget his own Little is much When God is in it Labor not For wealth or fame There's a crown And you can win it If you go In Jesus name Far you wait Aside from service Body worn From toil and care You can still Be in the battle In the sacred Place of prayer Little is much When God is in it Labor not For wealth or fame If you'll go In Jesus name Let's finish it out on the last verse When the conflict Here is ended And our race On earth is run He will say To all the faithful Welcome home My child well done Little is much When God is in it Labor not For wealth or fame There's a crown And you can win it If you'll go In Jesus name Great singing. If you're a guest and you've had any questions about salvation church membership or baptism you can see pastor in the front and can I please Brother Aiden, close us in a word of prayer Amen. Amen. Amen.
