Exodus chapter 19 the Bible reads in verse 1 in the third month when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai for they were departed from Rephidim and were come to the desert of Sinai and it pitched in the wilderness and there Israel camped before the mount so if you remember in the last couple chapters they were in a place called Rephidim that's where they fought against Amalek and where Moses had to hold up his arms as Joshua fought that battle so they've moved on from Rephidim and after all the adventures that we've read up so far it has taken them three months to get to this point they're in Mount Sinai and if you remember they were told that they would worship God in that mountain and when God first met with Moses at the burning bush he said you're gonna get the children of Israel you're gonna bring them out of Egypt and then you're gonna come worship me in this mountain so now they've arrived at that mountain and it says in verse number three and Moses went up unto God and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain saying thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob and tell the children of Israel you've seen what I did unto the Egyptians and how I bear you on eagles wings and brought you unto myself now therefore if you will obey my voice indeed and keep my covenant then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people for all the earth is mine so we see here that this covenant that God is going to make with them is not an unconditional covenant it's conditional right he's not saying you are going to be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people no matter what you do no matter how you act even if you hate me and reject me and worship idols and no it's a very specific thing that he's saying here that if you obey my voice and if you keep my covenant then you will be the chosen people then you will be special then you will be above other nations and so forth but this is not a carte blanche for them to just do whatever they want and remain God's people look the vast majority of independent Baptists out there are wrong on this doctrine and they have gotten sucked into all of the right-wing propaganda the Fox News Christianity and look let me tell you something the right wing and the left wing they're both on the same bird okay it's the devil and you know what don't get sucked in to thinking that oh TV is good as long as I'm watching the right wing stuff you know and oh yeah the mainstream media is great as long as I'm on the right wing wrong it's all lies it's all garbage and many of the Fox News Baptists out there when you listen them preach it literally sounds like you're listening to some kind of a newscaster from Fox News or some kind of a talking head from Fox News and when they don't sound like that then they start sound like a Jewish rabbi sometimes because they're so into being pro-Jewish and pro-Israel that is not what the Bible teaches okay the Bible says very clearly that when Jesus was on this earth he told them the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof it says in Hebrews chapter 8 they continued not in my covenant and I regarded them not saith the Lord God does not regard them God does not acknowledge them you have to be in Christ to be God's chosen people in the New Testament period there's no other Jews as they get no think not to say within yourselves we have Abraham to our father I stand to you that God is able of these stones to raise up children of Abraham and now also the axe is laid under the root of the tree and every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down cast the fire that is the first sermon in the New Testament open your Bible to Matthew 1 and start going forward that's the first preaching you're gonna come to is saying don't give me this Abraham's our father garbage you're gonna get chopped down you're getting cut down and thrown into the fire okay that's why the Apostle Paul speaks to the Gentiles and Philippians and says we're the circumcision who worship God in the spirit and rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh if you're not rejoicing in Christ Jesus and having no confidence the flesh you're not the circumcision he's not a Jew which is one outwardly neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh but he's a Jew which is one inwardly circumcision is that of the heart and of the spirit not of the letter whose praise is not of men but of God and look I could go on all night just quoting all the scriptures in the New Testament that just hammer this truth that the Jews have rejected the Lord Jesus Christ they have been broken off they are not acknowledged they are not God's chosen people they are under God's wrath God's wrath is abiding on them right now you know we were at soul winning the other day and this guy was showing us on his door frame he was a saved Christian but he was showing us on his door frame that little diagonally mounted scroll that Jews will have on their door and he was really proud to have that on his house because it was from the previous owner so he said you know that means this is a blessed house because a Christ killer used to live here hey that's what the Bible says okay they're the ones who screamed out his blood be on us and on our children they're the ones who screamed out crucify him we have no king but Caesar they have God's wrath on them why would that be a blessed house Oh someone who hates and rejects Jesus lived here oh man special blessings on them folks if you hate look if any man loved not our Lord Jesus Christ let him be anathema that's what the Bible says it doesn't say you get a special blessing because every time you hear the name of Jesus you spit three times because you hate him in your heart and that's what Judaism is my friend it's a religion for people who hate Jesus it's a religion for real hey let me have the Bible and let's just rip Jesus out of it let's remove Jesus from Genesis chapter 1 let's remove Jesus from Genesis chapter 3 let's remove look Jesus is on every page of Genesis he's on every page of Exodus Tim give all the prophets witness that through his name whosoever believe it the name shall receive remission of sins what kind of a person would remove Jesus and say well give me the Bible but just remove every reference to Jesus that's what they are friend that's what they're doing and they've been doing it for 2,000 years and God's wrath is on them for it they are not under a special blessing and they're gonna split hell wide open every last one of them will split hell wide open and the only way around that is they have to believe on Jesus you have to get saved you say well you don't love Jews hey I love them enough to tell them the truth that if they don't get saved they're damned you know doesn't love them are the Fox News Baptist that get all excited in and they get all like a schoolgirl around a Jew like really you're a Jew really could you touch me or something can you like can I just like stand in your shadow or touch the hem of your garment that's how you're typically evangelical Christian today acts toward Jews oh well a Jew used to live in this house I'll never wash this house again or something you know maybe I can get some of their residual blessing folks I'm a son of Abraham you're a son of Abraham if you believe in Christ you're a son of Abraham these people are the children of the devil Jesus said to them you're of your father the devil and you say oh I was the Pharisees you got it right and guess what rabbinical Judaism is the Pharisees ask a Jewish rabbi explain to me the roots of your religion starting in the first century AD they're gonna say all the Pharisees and the Talmud and the rabbis and everybody that Jesus said you're a serpent you're a viper your father's the devil how can you escape the damnation of hell you're a hypocrite you're weak like these that's that's who they are friend the same people who killed the Lord Jesus persecuted the prophets and all these things and you know what people get offended by that they're offended by God's Word it's all in the Bible the Bible says the wrath has come upon them to the uttermost it says the Jews killed the first Thessalonians 2 the Jews killed the Lord Jesus they killed their own prophets they persecuted us they please not God and the wrath has come upon them to the uttermost what does the Bible say here in Exodus 19 oh you guys are the children of Israel you guys are my people no matter what is that what it says no this is what and look I've been quoting the New Testament even in the Old Testament it doesn't say that it says in the Old Testament verse 5 look at it carefully now therefore if ye will obey my voice indeed question is someone who rejects the Lord Jesus obeying God's voice well they're doing the old covenant oh really so they're they must be doing a morning and evening burnt sacrifice then they must be doing the burn the whole burnt offering am I right I mean you say that oh they're following the law oh really then they must be doing the Passover by killing a lamb is that what they do no they don't they don't do any of that they don't follow the Old Testament they don't follow the New Testament look go ask the Jews if they believe in evolution or if they believe in the Bible's creation account go ask the Jews if they believe in the story of Noah's Ark in a literal worldwide flood go ask the Jews if they believe any of those stories like Jonah in the whale ask a Jew if he believes that Jonah was swallowed by a whale and you know what the answer to all these questions is going to be no it's just a bunch of fairy tales to them Christians are the ones that believe in this stuff my friend Christians believe the Word of God because Jesus said in John chapter 5 well if you believe Moses you'd believe in me but if you believe not his writings how should you believe my words nothing could be clearer than this subject now look there are some good people that are mixed up on this okay because the brainwashing is deep through TV through radio and through the TV preachers and through the Bible colleges so the brainwashing runs deep so there are good people that are mixed up on this but you know when people are shown this truth and they're shown like a hundred scriptures and they just get mad and angry and they still want to worship Jews and and twist the scripture something's wrong with that person they're not right with God why don't they just accept what the Bible says it doesn't even make sense there's a there's a guy there's a pastor of a big church in Florida tonight who's preaching an entire sermon against me he's preaching a whole sermon about like why you shouldn't listen to Pastor Steven Anderson and I guarantee you I haven't even I haven't heard the sermon I don't know if I'm ever gonna hear the sermon but I guarantee you because I don't know you know if it's online I'll listen to you know I'm ready to receive correction if needed but look I guarantee you I already know what the sermons gonna be about I guarantee it's gonna be all about the Jews that's what these people care about that's what they worship is the Jews and Israel and because that's how they've been brainwashed that is not what the Bible teaches Jesus Christ the fulfillment of prophecy that counterfeit nation over there is the devil's counterfeit substitute and pretty soon they're gonna put the Antichrist in power we don't know when that you could be 20 years from now 50 years so we don't know the day or the hour but that's where the Antichrist is gonna rule and reign from they're not getting ready for Jesus they're getting ready for the Antichrist over there and when they build they're all they're gonna build the temple yes so the Antichrist can declare himself to be God in that temple that's what's going on so anyway don't don't fall for that even in the Old Testament you have clear scripture telling you that these people do not get a carte blanche they must obey the Lord in order to be his people they cannot just say oh well it's by our blood it's by our nationality it doesn't work that way and folks even in the Old Testament anybody who wanted to join the nation of Israel in the Old Testament could do it did you know that Joshua okay and Caleb okay these you say oh these guys are the most full-blooded is right really no actually one of them was an immigrant son of an immigrant right Caleb was the son of the Kenizzite and so therefore you know that was another nation in that area folks that's who joined the nation of Israel and you could be red yellow black or white in the Old Testament get circumcised keep the Passover and the Bible says it's the same law for the stranger as the one that's born in the land you would become and you say well what tribe would they be the Bible says whatsoever tribe they sojourn among that becomes their tribe the Bible covers that if you'd read the Bible in the Old Testament you'd see that they get assimilated into whatever tribe they happen to live in whatever tribe they choose right and so that's how Caleb ended up getting assimilated in with the tribe of Judah because that's where his dad dwelled and he and look tell me he wasn't a full-fledged member of the tribe when they're picking people to represent the tribe to go to the promised land they pick a guy who's not even a natural-born guy because it didn't matter to them and in fact when Jesus picking his disciples he picks 12 disciples he picked a guy called Simon the Canaanite he picked a guy who was not an Israeli born guy as far as his ethnicity he was of Canaan he was a Canaanite now I don't know how many generations his family had been in the nation but you know what it was recent enough to where he was known as Simon the Canaanite why did Jesus pick that guy Jesus could have just picked a bunch of full-blooded Jews he chose to pick a Canaanite to show these not a respecter of persons but that everywhere in every nation whoever worships him in truth is accepted before him it's not a matter of ethnicity and and here's how you get in on the New Testament you believe in Jesus whosoever believeth in him is is is a recipient of the blessings of the New Testament and you know when I learned this doctrine I loved it because I you know I was sick of feeling like a second-class citizen for being this Gentile believer like I'm just kind of the the the Plan B or whatever you know we are full-fledged and the Jews have nothing on us because there's no difference between the Jew and the Greek you believe in Christ you're saved you don't believe you're doomed that's what the Bible says and he says in verse 6 and remember this is following the big if that if you keep the Covenant you shall be unto me a kingdom of priests and holy nation these are the words which also speak unto the children of Israel now go if you would keep your finger there go to 1st Peter chapter 2 I got a hurry because there's so much great stuff in this chapter 1st Peter chapter 2 and the Bible refers back to this in 1st Peter chapter 2 verse 9 now who's the audience of 1st Peter well he's writing to people living in Galatia Cappadocia Asia by Thinnia Pontus he's writing to people in modern-day Turkey but back then Turkey was part of the Greek speaking world and so this is called Asia Minor or part of the Greek speaking world at that time and he's writing to them and he's writing to these Gentiles and he says in verse 9 but you are a chosen generation a royal priesthood unholy nation a peculiar people notice the exact language from Exodus 19 do you see that how he said the same things he said Kingdom of priests holy nation over here he says you're a chosen generation you're a royal priesthood a peculiar people that's what he said back in Exodus 19 a peculiar treasure unto me that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light watch this which in time past were not a people this can't be talking to the Israelites because they were already a people in time past he's writing to those that in time past were not a people but now are the people of God which had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy see this new nation in the New Testament it's not a nation that already existed because he said look in time past this was not a people but now you are a peculiar people now you are this kingdom of priests this chosen generation why because Christian believers are taken from all nationalities you know when we get to heaven and there's a great multitude in heaven praising God the Bible says can be from every kindred every language every family every time there is not going to be a country on this planet that's not represented every country in Asia Africa Europe North and South America will all be represented in that multitude in that crowd there are believers in Christ in every nation so this nation that we belong to of Christians is not made up of a certain race or a certain language group or a certain ethnicity it's just only based upon whether or not we believe in Jesus Christ if we believe in Jesus Christ we're part of this Brotherhood this priesthood this nation we as Baptist believe in what's called the priesthood of the believer that's why we don't go and confess to a priest and and have a priest absolve us of our sins we have Jesus as our high priest and then we are each a priest every single one of us is a priest God has made us kings and priests unto God and his father so we are all part of this nation regardless of our ethnicity our ethnicity doesn't matter that's why the Bible says avoid genealogies if our ethnicity mattered we would need a genealogy can't just look at someone and just know what their ethnicity is otherwise you can just look at the whole nation of Israel and say these are all white people there there these are all Europeans because that's what they are they're all white Europeans who converted to the Christ hating religion of Judaism very few of them have strong family ties to Abraham Isaac and Jacob very few of them and those are gonna be the ones that are probably a little darker in complexion okay because you know when you're reading the Bible the Apostle Paul was mistaken for an Egyptian Joseph was mistaken for an Egyptian okay so throughout the Bible you see and and we know what Egyptians look like through looking at hieroglyphics that have been preserved and sorry blacks they're not black people okay everybody's like oh yeah you know Jesus was black and I was but they weren't white either they're not white European they're not a sub-saharan African black what they are is they're a brown person from the Middle East okay so they would look like people if you went to a place like Egypt or you know what they'd probably look a lot like is the Palestinians who lived there the whole time lived there all along sorry mr. Fox News you know what I mean but but here's the thing it doesn't matter did you notice that the Bible doesn't give us a physical description of Jesus because we're not supposed to make an image anyway it's not about whether he looked like this color that color it's about the spiritual content of the word of God Jesus Christ transcends all that he's God in the flesh he's the Son of God he's not limited to like oh it's the white man's religion or it's you know this religion or that religion wrong okay but what I'm saying is that the Israelites so called over in Israel are whiter than I am there's something fishy about that that doesn't doesn't make sense okay and you know the the Palestinians said well they left brown and they came back white you know because it's not the same people that came back okay they're called Ashkenazis do a little Bible study on a guy named Ashkenaz you're gonna find out he's a Gentile he's of the sons of Japheth that they're called Ashkenazis because that's who they are okay anyway I could go on all night on that topic because there's so much in the Bible there's so much to be said about that so much scripture but Exodus 19 and 1st Peter chapter 2 I mean that's the one-two punch right there let alone all the other hundreds of scriptures okay so go ahead and preach against me you know pastor bozo out there in in Florida but you know what you can go ahead and preach against me all you want but at the end of the day you're lying to your congregation if you tell them that God's blessing is on people who hate Jesus and reject Jesus and they're they just want a Bible without Jesus folks the Old Testament makes no sense without Jesus it makes zero sense I've just been thinking about that lately as I'm reading the Old Testament a lot lately I'm just thinking like none of this makes any sense without Jesus now it made sense to them back then because they're looking forward to the cross they're looking forward to Jesus it makes sense to us because we're seeing Jesus on every page it makes zero said think about the story of Abraham offering Isaac does that story make sense without Jesus that's a crazy story if God's not gonna send his son to be the Savior of the world if God's not gonna so love the world that he gives his only begotten son that's a weird story right like Oh Abraham go ahead and kill your son what in the world is that oh I'm just testing you know it's about the Father God the Father offering Jesus Christ and it makes perfect sense it is beautiful everything in the Old Testament is like that all the animal sacrifices all the Bible stories from Jonah to David is just everything everything points to Jesus and then you understand it and then it makes sense I mean look in chapter 1 let us make man in our image that makes no sense if there's no father son and Holy Ghost you know what they say if you talk to the Jews they'll say oh that's a majestic plural like like when the Queen when the Queen of England says we are not amused here's the problem with that there's no record of any King or Queen referring to themselves as we or being referred to in that way as a multiplicity or plurality until what England a few hundred years ago that's a new phenomenon there's there's no ancient evidence that's completely made up this majestic plural is totally made up now a few times in the Quran God slips and calls himself we because he's just plagiarizing so much from biblical text so then the Muslims try to explain that oh it's a majestic plural there's no evidence of that ever existing there's no evidence of that in the Bible of anybody using a majestic plural that doesn't exist friend it's we let us make man in our image because it's the father the son and the Holy Ghost that's why makes sense oh the man's become like unto one of us Genesis 3 22 makes no sense unless you got the father the son and the Holy Ghost then it makes perfect sense right so if you're not a Christian you can't understand the Bible if you're Jewish you're blinded the Bible says they have the veil over their eyes when they read the scripture all right let's get back into the chapter here we covered those most important verses look at verse 7 and Moses came and called for the elders of the people and laid before their faces all these words which the Lord commanded him and all the people answered together and said all that the Lord hath spoken we will do and Moses returned the words of the Lord are excuse me Moses returned the words of the people unto the Lord and the Lord said unto Moses lo I come unto thee in a thick cloud that the people may hear when I speak with thee and believe thee forever and Moses told the words of the people unto the Lord and the Lord said unto Moses go unto the people and sanctify them today and tomorrow and let them wash their clothes so what we see here with this back and forth of you know God says this to Moses and then Moses goes and tells the people and then the people speak to Moses and then Moses brings those words to God this is the covenant being made basically what is a covenant a covenant is an agreement a deal a contract that's what it means to make a covenant so they're making a deal here you know and and basically each side has their part of the bargain right so God's side of the bargain is that he's going to exalt them they're gonna be a kingdom of priests they're gonna be a holy nation I'm gonna be your God you're gonna be my people and then their part is they have to continue in the Covenant they have to worship the Lord they have to live by his laws and so forth okay so there are two sides to this agreement that's being made and Moses here is acting as a go-between as a mediator you know he's going back and forth between the two right he's pre shadowing or pre figuring the Lord Jesus Christ in that sense who is the mediator between God and men and so he's going back and forth delivering these messages the Covenant is being made and again this is not unconditional it's very conditional okay and look the New Covenant's not unconditional because you have to believe to be saved now once you believe you can never lose your salvation you have eternal life and you're saved you're sealed unto the day of redemption you cannot lose your salvation but to get in on the New Covenant you have to believe in Christ it's not just everybody's in you know you got to believe every person has to believe on their own so here we see this going back and forth and then God's gonna do something really interesting in this chapter he's actually instead of just speaking to Moses where they're doing the back and forth thing he's actually gonna talk to everybody okay so this is kind of a big deal this is very unique in Scripture where God is actually going to speak to millions of people at the same time in an audible voice so this is this is an event that's pretty much unparalleled here you know when you're reading the old covenant here where most of it's all going through Moses but God just one time is gonna speak to everybody and then he says then they're gonna believe you forever they're not gonna doubt that you've heard from me because they're going to physically hear my voice one time okay so they're gonna prepare the people for this okay this is a very serious event it's a very somber event he doesn't want them to take this event lightly so yeah it's not like they're just pulling up lawn chairs and getting out popcorn and it's like wow we're gonna see God you know it's not something to be taken lightly so he's gonna spend a few days preparing them and they have to be very clean he tells them you know you need to wash your bodies you need to wash your clothing you need to be completely clean and serious and and he says look we're gonna set boundaries around the mountain you go beyond this boundary you will die anybody who crosses this you know tape or whatever you'll die it said if an animal crosses this line the animal will be killed right nobody crosses this line because everybody need everything needed to be decent in order this is serious so he's gonna start to prepare the people so he says in verse 11 or verse 10 and the Lord said unto Moses go unto the people and sanctify them today and tomorrow and let them wash their clothes and be ready against the third day for the third day the Lord will come down in the sight of all the people upon Mount Sinai and thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about saying take heed to yourselves that you go not up into the mount or touch the border of it whosoever touch it the mount shall be surely put to death there shall not an hand touch it but he shall surely be stoned or shot through whether it be beast or man it shall not live when the trumpet soundeth long they shall come up to the mount and Moses went down from the mountain unto the people and sanctified the people and they washed their clothes and he said unto the people be ready against the third day come not at your wives now I want to pay special attention to that part come not at your wives because this has often been misunderstood or misconstrued why they're not to come at their wives now a lot of people have a warped view of the marital relationship okay and part of this is due to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church which has a perverse view of this and then some of that trickles down into Protestantism which is like Catholic light and so we want to make sure that we have a biblical view of marriage and that we don't get tainted by this corrupt Roman Catholic teaching go if you would to Hebrews 13 keep keep your finger in Exodus 19 of course we're gonna be back there let's go to Hebrews chapter 13 and look at a key text here about marriage in Hebrews chapter number 13 if you guys could help me out with these just look up Hebrews chapter 13 in there so Hebrews chapter 13 there's an important verse it says in verse number four marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge here's what the Bible saying look if you are having that physical relationship before you're married that's wicked if you're having that physical relationship with someone who's married to someone else that's wicked right so whoremongers and adulterers God will judge but on the reverse of that marriage is honorable in all the bed is undefiled I mean this is pretty important right he's saying look having a physical relationship within marriage is a pure activity it's totally fine okay there's nothing wrong with it it's not something that is sinful or bad look believe it or not the Roman Catholic Church will teach that having relations with your own wife is venial sin that it's somehow sinful and it should only be used for procreation or folks that is garbage the Bible is crystal clear about the virtue of marriage the virtue of being married and how important it is to have that physical relationship in marriage and I don't have time to turn to all those scriptures but there's plenty of scripture on that 1st Corinthians 7 many other places that talk about how important that is and how that's a necessary part of marriage we go back to Deuteronomy and show you the same thing this is all over the Bible but this key verse here is telling you look within marriage that relationship is pure now it should be kept in the bedroom you know people who talk about what goes on in their bedroom outside the bedroom and and taught you know that's inappropriate okay that should be kept private that is something that's within marriage within the bedroom and the Bible says marriage is honorable in all all and the bed is undefiled but hora maga is an adulterer's galaxy so the Bible is really clear here that the problem is when you're going outside marriage when you're within marriage it's honorable it's undefiled okay now let's see what these modern Bible translations have changed this verse to let's read it from the ESV okay go ahead and read it from the NIV marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept pure for God will judge the adulterer so do you see the difference here that both of these have introduced he said well the marriage bed needs to be kept undefiled the King James says it already is undefiled do you see the difference the King James is saying look marriage is honorable the bed is undefiled it's already done the ESV and the NIV are like hey we need to keep it undefined we need to make sure and honor it and keep it undefiled folks you look this up in the original Greek those verbs are not there it reads exactly what the King James Bible is saying those words of keep the excuse me I'm switching in my German accent here those words of it should be kept you got to keep it there's no verb for keep in the original folks they are being influenced by the perversion of Catholicism and even some Protestantism where they think that somehow activities within marriage are bad you know it's only you know you got to do it a certain way at a certain time and then you got to go confess to the priest and tell him all about it the pervert folks these are lies this is why and then people act like you're crazy for being King James only folks the King James is the only Bible you can trust in 2019 look at what these modern version those are the two of the most popular Bibles on the market and they're tight well you got to keep it undefiled well how do I do that I guess I'll go ask the priest he'll tell me all about it no actually it already is undefiled it already is honorable I don't have to do anything to keep it that way except not be a whoremonger and not be an adulterer amen that's what the Bible is teaching so the reason I bring that up is because with that wrong philosophy if you go back to Exodus 19 and actually keep your figure there go to Leviticus 15 with this wrong philosophy that somehow feels that there's something sinful about the normal physical relationship within marriage if you if you brought that into this passage in Exodus 19 you'd say oh well the reason the Bible said that they can't come at their wives is because they need to be holy and righteous and that's good that act is gonna defile them somehow wrong that is not what the Bible's teaching the reason why he's saying to them don't come at your wives is the same reason that he told them wash your clothes and take a bath because here's the thing that act is something that would bring about what the Bible calls uncleanness not a sin or unholyness or unrighteousness but simply look the Bible says if you butcher an animal you're unclean and you have to go bathe your flesh and be even though the Bible's commanding you to do those things and commanding you to butcher animals and eat the meat and so forth but when you do that you gotta wash up afterward and be clean and not only that the Bible had a time limit of being clean and staying clean and God just wanted them ultra clean and tidy for this meeting on the mountain that's why he's saying come not at your wives not like oh I want you guys to be extra righteous for these three days and and you know super righteous people folks there are cults out there that tell people not to have a relationship with their wife we're husband wife or celibate even though they're married there are weirdo cults like that my friend and I'm telling you this is something that the Roman Catholics have weird views on if you look at their views on this they don't line up with Scripture okay look what Leviticus chapter 15 says it says in verse 16 and if any man seed of copulation go out from him Leviticus 15 16 that he shall wash all his flesh and water and be unclean until the even and every garment and every skin whereon is the seed of copulation shall be washed with water and be unclean till the even the woman also with whom man shall lie with seed of copulation they shall both bathe themselves in water and be unclean until the even so notice the the two-step process they bathe their flesh and then a period of time goes by and then they are considered to be clean these and if you read the whole chapter of chapter 15 of Leviticus these are sanitation rules they tell you hey if someone's sick you have to wash their clothes wash the bed wash and then wait you wait okay why why the waiting the waiting is just to make sure that everything's clean everything's normal make sure that there was nothing that was missed you know God you know God cares about clean cleaning now the the phrase cleanliness is next to godliness is not in the Bible but the concept is in the Bible of being clean okay and and let me just by the way put in a little plug for our new documentary that just came out on YouTube yesterday called San Francisco okay it's not on our main YouTube channel for obvious reasons but you got to go to some of our other more obscure channels the faithful word channels just if you type that in San Fran sicko it should come right up and you know folks God's not pleased with with with San Francisco because of all the the the the disgusting conditions and and they're putting people at risk for all kinds of diseases and everything by just allowing all that filth and and you know if people actually read the Bible and took it seriously and if even even just the book of Leviticus alone would solve all of San Francisco's problems you could just you don't have to give them the whole you could just give them Leviticus as far as the sanitation side now obviously for the spiritual problem they're gonna need the New Testament you know but as far as the their physical problems if they would just get a hold of some of the teachings of Leviticus and it's funny that's the book that they make fun of the most so you preach Leviticus well you know it's better than living in your own filth you know at least it teaches you about being clean and sanitary now look we're not under the law we don't perform these things ceremonially or ritualistically but you know what when I read the book of Leviticus I walk away saying hey God wants me to be clean and you know there's stuff in the New Testament on that too and and just the general principle of cleanliness sanitation quarantine of the sick and so forth and so what the Bible is saying here is that when you have a physical relationship with your wife you haven't done anything wrong you don't need to go do a sin offering and you know you gotta go do something no what you need to do is wash up right that's it that's what the Bible saying and so if we go back to Exodus 19 that's what he's saying here when he says hey wash your skin wash your clothes don't come at your wives you know you don't want to get all washed up and then basically spoil it as far as God wanting it to be pristine and clean and pure not spiritually but physically wash your clothes wash your flesh I mean that's what he said in Exodus 19 and then what's the third injunction you know come not at your wives it's that's the context okay then it makes sense so back in Exodus chapter 19 he's giving them these rules verse 16 it came to pass on the third day in the morning that there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud upon the mountain and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud so that all the people that was in the camp trembled and Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God and they stood at the nether part of the mount and Mount Sinai was all together on a smoke the nether part simply means the lower part so they're at the bottom remember they can't touch the mountain itself lest they die Mount Sinai was all together on a smoke because the Lord descended upon it in fire nobody can see the Lord's face and live so he comes down shrouded in fire and smoke and dwelling in thick darkness and so he comes down the smoke of a furnace the whole mount quaked greatly and when the voice of the trumpet sounded long and waxed louder and louder Moses spake and God answered him by a voice and the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai on the top of the mount and the Lord called Moses up to the top of the mount and Moses went up by the way this is a great picture of the rapture you see some of the parallels you see the earthquake you see the clouds you see the trumpet sounding the Lord descends and then he calls Moses up and then Moses comes up this is a perfect picture of the rapture okay in the New Testament so we see these things for see it all makes sense when you are a Christian right so you know all these things are pointing us to those New Testament truths about Jesus Christ and by the way it's interesting how if you get the picture here you know they everybody's got taking this really seriously two days of preparation everybody's clean as a whistle right clean clean bodies clean clothes don't cross the line everything's ordered everybody's ready and basically then you know try to get the picture of being there so you're there right at the mountain and all of a sudden you know there's just fire and smoke coming down as the Lord descends on the mountain and the earth's quaking I mean this is a pretty powerful then there's a sound of a trumpet okay and basically the sound of the trumpet isn't just a quick little you know this is basically a sound of a trumpet that is prolonged okay so this isn't just a quick burst or a tune that's being played it's basically a prolonged you know or whatever it keeps getting louder because look down at your Bible it says in verse 19 and I'm not making the right sound but forgive me it says when the voice of the trumpet sounded long and waxed louder and louder so the the trumpet is just a prolonged right and it's getting loud it's waxing louder and louder it's getting louder and louder okay so it gets louder and louder and louder and then Moses speaks and then God answers okay this is very dramatic so that's that's probably how it's going to be at the second coming of Christ in the sense of a long trumpet sound not just maybe a quick burst it's probably gonna be a loud trumpet sound something that sounds like a trumpet getting louder and louder okay so the voice of the trumpet sounded long and waxed louder and louder Moses spake God answered him by a voice and the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai Moses went up so the people are down at the bottom the Lord comes down Moses goes up to talk to him and get final instructions verse 21 the Lord said unto Moses go down charge the people lest they break through unto the Lord to gaze and many of them perish he say look I know how these people are they're dense they don't get it you have to tell them things a bunch of times he says go down and just tell them again do not cross this line you cannot cross this line because he said he said lest many of them you know God knows all things he knows that if you don't warn them again a whole bunch of them are gonna come in and they're all gonna die so God and his mercy says to Moses go repeat that again because they didn't get it the first time so then it says and let the priests also which come near to the Lord sanctify themselves lest the Lord break forth upon them and Moses said unto the Lord the people cannot come up to Mount Sinai for thou charge it's dust saying set bounds a pound about the mountain sanctified so basically Moses says to God like look nobody's gonna come through I already told him we already set up the boundaries God's like go tell him one more time and the Lord sent him away get thee down he's like look I know more you know he knows more than Moses you know he's like go down and give the instructions one more time and Moses is like don't worry about it I got it covered the boundaries are set and he's just like away just do it just go down there again right you need to go down and thou shalt come up see that this could be confusing at first if you're not paying attention to the whole passage this kind of contradictory command get thee down and thou shalt come up to get thee down is right now hey go down and do what I just said to do thou shalt come up that's future when you're done doing what I told you to do then you're gonna come back okay and Aaron with thee but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the Lord here's repeating the command again making sure look Moses I don't trust these people go down and tell him again is what he's saying because he knows the hearts of all men people are gonna be curious and they're gonna want to break forth to gaze like I gotta get closer I want I want to see what's going on over there so Moses went down unto the people and spake unto them so that's Moses obeying he goes down and then when we roll into verse 20 God spake all these words saying we roll directly into the Ten Commandments so what happens I'm just gonna borrow this part from chapter 20 just to finish the thought of the sermon because there's so much great stuff to preach about next week in chapter 20 so I'm gonna just kind of get a head start jump down to verse 18 so verses 1 through 17 are the Ten Commandments right verses 1 through 17 of the Ten Commandments so what I want you to get this is what I want you to remember that's what I want you to learn here okay because I want you it's important that we know the Bible and that we know these stories and we know what the teachings of God's Word here's what you need to understand about this this important event when God spake audibly to literally millions of people because they're gonna be counted in the book of Numbers and the men the adult men are six hundred thousand so we're talking about millions of people if you include the women and children at this most unique event of God speaking to the entire nation audibly okay what is it that he says to them what part do they hear it's the Ten Commandments what they get is the Ten Commandments from the mouth of God audibly they hear the Ten Commandments themselves that's the part that they get now he finishes the Ten Commandments in verse 17 we're going to talk about the Ten Commandments next week but look at verse 18 of chapter 20 and all the people saw the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the mountain smoking and when the people saw it they removed and stood afar off and they said unto Moses speak thou with us and we will hear but let not God speak with us lest we die so they're freaked out by this experience of just and all they've heard is just the Ten Commandments but from the mouth of God with all this fire and smoke and thunder and the sound of a trumpet in this booming voice of God it's too much for them to handle they can't take it and so they say to Moses we've heard enough we get it God's talking to you we heard it ourselves we are we're gonna die we need to get out of here okay you need to just talk to him and we'll get it from you Moses okay so that's their response to this lest we die verse 20 and Moses said unto the people fear not for God has come to prove you and that his fear may be before your faces that you said not and the people stood afar off and Moses drew near into the thick darkness where God was and the Lord said unto Moses thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel you've seen that I've talked with you from heaven and then he begins to give more Commandments more injunctions and so forth but he's giving these just to Moses now because they don't want to hear anymore they've heard enough they're gonna back off that's all they can handle and you know it's this is referred to in Hebrews chapter 12 I'll just quote it for sake of time but he says you're not coming to the mount that might be touched and that burned with fire nor into clouds and darkness and tempest and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words which voice they that heard and treated that the word should not be spoken unto them anymore for they could not endure that which was commanded and if so much as a beast touched the mountain and shall be stolen to thrust through with the dark he's saying look you're coming to the new Jerusalem the heavenly city Jesus Christ the mediator of the new covenant right the blood of Jesus the church of the firstborn he's saying you're not under the old covenant under the new covenant he's saying in Hebrews 12 and he uses this to picture the old covenant okay and he's saying you're not come to that mountain that you couldn't touch and fire and brimstone and the voice and the trumpet and you know this this very scary unapproachable God no you've got Jesus Christ the mediator you can go boldly into the throne of grace you've been brought in there by the blood of Christ and so forth so it's interesting what he says they when they heard that voice they entreated that the word would not be spoken to them anymore and it says because they could not endure that which was commanded so you see that Moses is able to get close to God right the people can't handle it and I believe one thing we could learn from this just kind of figuratively speaking taking you know just a figurative application from this is that you know when you're a godly person you can get closer to God people that are sinful and ungodly worldly you know what they don't want to be close to God you know because we're kind of sitting here thinking to ourselves like why you want to go home after 10 commandments let's get all 611 of them straight from the mouth of God or however many there are right like why why go home now Moses doesn't want to Moses is like wait fear not what's the problem I can handle this right and you know Aaron and Joshua they can handle it but we see that people when they're living in sin when they're you know they they don't want to get too close to God that's kind of the figurative application here and you see that people today when they're when they're living a sinful life they don't want to go to church have you ever had somebody say well I'm afraid if I go to church the roof will cave in have you ever had somebody say that to you yeah several people yeah hey I feel like if I walk through the door of a church the building would collapse upon me or something you know I'm too wicked to go to church and you know someone once said sin will keep you from this book or this book will keep you from sin you know you if you read your Bible every day thy word if I had in my heart that I might not sin against thee but if you're living in sin you're not gonna want to read your Bible you're not gonna want to go to church you're not gonna want to listen to preaching you know when your deeds are evil you don't want the light shining too bright and so we need to take a lesson from that to to love the Lord cleanse ourselves purify ourselves and want to be close to God want to hear directly from God and you know there are too many people that don't want to hear directly from God you know they're not they're not opening their Bible and getting it directly from God and they just want to push that out of their mind you know go soul winning and knock on the doors and see how many people just have no interest in the things of God so many blessings are missing out on so many beautiful things that they're missing out on but you know that's that's how people are and that's how these people work so he gives them the Ten Commandments audibly the rest is all going to be given by the hand of a mediator it's all going to be given by Moses and we'll get into those commandments themselves next week in chapter 20 let's borrow it's never word of prayer father we thank you so much for your word Lord and we thank you for the New Covenant the New Testament or what you call in the book of Hebrews the better Testament Lord help us to realize all of the wonderful blessings that we have access to and and just just our status in Christ Lord thank you so much for your unspeakable gift we're totally unworthy and yet you have made us into priests and kings and you have elevated us to a position that none of us deserves and so we're thankful for your grace and mercy and Lord we pray that that many among the Jews would realize the the the wicked error of their ways and and come unto Christ and I would just pray that we would go out and preach the gospel to every preacher and get as many people saved as we possibly can that they might have a share in the New Covenant and that they might be included in the New Testament Lord just by simple faith in Jesus and it's in Jesus name we pray amen
