Amen Now this is one of my favorite chapters in the whole bible in fact when I started memorizing the bible, this was actually the uh, It's actually the first chapter that I ever memorized in the bible was proverbs chapter 30 And then I started memorizing the philippians three and four and a few other places But this was the first chapter that I memorized the entire chapter. It's one of my favorite chapters It's a beautiful chapter in the bible. But the part that I wanted to focus on is uh beginning verse number 12 where the bible reads There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes And yet is not washed from their filthiness There is a generation. Oh how lofty are their eyes and their eyelids are lifted up now That's a pretty strong word filthiness. I mean To to combine that with the word pure in the same verse and the bible says there is a generation that are pure in their own Eyes, I mean they see themselves as clean They see themselves as pure and righteous and godly and holy but he says in reality They are not washed from their filthiness. I mean, that's a pretty big contrast Look at verse number, uh down in verse number 20 the bible reads such is the way of an adulterous woman She eateth and wipeeth her mouth and saith I've done no wickedness You see the bible is telling us here that the people of this world the wicked evildoers of this world the adulterers and adulteresses The filthy minded dreamers of this world. They are pure in their own mind according to the bible He said an adulterous woman could even justify her adultery and say i've done no wickedness I mean, there's a generation. I believe we're living in that generation that is pure in their own eyes and yet is not washed from their filthiness Turn if you would to first john chapter one At the end of uh your bible right before revelation you'll find all these small books The first second third john Look at first john chapter one, you see this mentality is what will send many people to hell You see when we go out soloing how many people do we talk to? They think that they're going to heaven because they're a good person. They see themselves as pure They see themselves as clean and righteous and they don't see themselves as sinful They don't see themselves as deserving of hell And so therefore they don't see a need to be saved through jesus christ because they say well i'm pretty good I'm a good person. I don't hurt anybody i'm on my way to heaven now Let me tell you something everything that we believe ought to be based on the bible everything Everything that we preach i come from the bible why get up and just grab in my cage about what I think and my experience Hey, I want to preach god's word But when I go out soul winning hey the message that I bring needs to be from god's word When i'm telling people how to be saved now don't ever add anything to the gospel The gospel is believe on the lord. Jesus christ, and thou shalt be saved right faith in god That's salvation by grace through faith not of works that same man should both now you say wait a minute Is there any other requirement for salvation none? But let me say this In order for a person to be saved and i'm not adding to it here in order for a person to be saved Hey a person has got to believe when the bible says that they're a sinner You say well, where does the bible say that you have to acknowledge that you're a sinner? Well, look at first john 1 10, okay The bible reads in first john 1 10 if we say that we have not sinned We make him a liar and his word is not in him So is it possible to believe on jesus christ and still think that you've never sinned? Of course not because in order to believe on jesus christ the whole point It's not just believe that jesus is a person that existed it's you're believing on him as your savior And you're putting your faith on him that's why it uses so often the phrase believe on You're relying on jesus to save you and how can you rely on jesus to save you when you feel that you've never sinned? What do you need to be saved for? Why do you need a savior? You see the roman catholic church teaches that mary never sinned They think that she was pure in the sight of god. Yes. She was pure and that she was a virgin Was a virgin until she knew her husband the bible says and had at least five other children But to say that mary was sinless is false First of all in luke chapter 2 she said i'm rejoicing in god my savior Now in order to need a savior You must be a sinner because the bible says that jesus christ came to save us from our sins It's that thou shalt call his name. Jesus for he shall save his people from their sin The reason we're in need of a savior is because we're a sinner And the punishment of our sin the wage of our sin is death And after death physical is going to be death the second death in hell And so in order to be saved you must believe on jesus christ as your savior But the bible says that if you say that you've not sinned his word is not in you and you're making him a liar Therefore you must not be saved Look at first john chapter five. We're in first channel one. Here's verse five It says in verse 10 he that believeth on the son of god hath the witness in himself He that believeth not god had made him a liar because he believeth not the record that god gave him his son So in order to be saved you must believe the bible Not just believing on a person jesus christ You must believe the record that god gave of his son, which is found in the holy bible And if you don't believe that then you're not saved People people say well, you know, I believe in jesus, but I don't believe genesis I don't believe the creation account you're going to hell because you're calling god a liar You don't believe in jesus of the bible because jesus is the jesus of genesis. He's the jesus of exodus He's the jesus of leviticus. He's the one who breathed those words He was the word in the flesh the bible says in the beginning was the word the word was with god And the word was god you can't say I don't believe the bible, but I believe in jesus Hey, you have the wrong. Jesus because the jesus that you got to believe on to save you Is the one that walked on this earth the word of god incarnate? The word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld its glory the glory as of the only god Now you don't have to know everything in the bible to be saved You don't have to know everything the bible says and you may even believe a lot of things that are contrary to the bible When you get saved, but the bible says he that is of god heareth god's words Ye therefore hear them not because you're not a god, okay And so it's evidence of a person not being saved. It's proof that they're not saved if they say I have not sinned Or if they say I believe that we evolved from a monkey After you showed them in the bible now Somebody might think that when they see it in the bible and they say well, I don't believe that they're pointing at the bible And saying I don't believe that then they're not safe Does everybody understand that because you got to believe on god's word to be saved You got to believe on jesus christ and so you can't reject the bible And still think that you have christ and think that you have salvation There are only two kinds of people in this world those who believe on jesus christ and that's the christ of the bible And those who made god a liar because they believe not the record that god gave his son Which category does the person who denies that they're a sinner fall into? Making him a liar according to first john 110. The bible says if we if we say that we've not sinned It says we make him a liar And his word is not in us, right? God's word is not in us. Christ is not in us. You got that I mean, I don't care if somebody says oh i'm a believer i'm saved And they're this holiness pentecostal and says hey, I am to a point where I no longer sin Hey, jesus christ is not in that person that person is a liar They're calling god a liar and they're deceiving themselves and they're trying to deceive you And there is not a just man upon the earth that do it good and sin is not You see we try to look at people sometimes and look at their lifestyle to determine if they're safe You know, we look at them and we see them You know drinking or fornicating we say well that person not safe. That's that's not what the bible teaches There are many people in the bible who were saved who committed fornication who committed adultery David for example who committed the sin of drunkenness noah for example lot for example who committed the sin of murder such as moses Such as david and on and on the list of sam to commit a murder and we could go down the list But the point and the truth of the matter is that when somebody says that they don't believe the bible It says that they're not a sinner and says that jesus is not the only way to heaven And says that jesus christ is not the savior they are condemning themselves with their own mouth and showing you Hey, everybody, i'm not saved here. I mean if I were to go out and commit sin right now Then I would not be spirit-filled I would not be able to win souls like I should I wouldn't be able to preach like I should Because i'd be living in sin Okay And other people be affected other people wouldn't hear the gospel Other people wouldn't hear the preaching that they need to hear across the pulpit everything that you do affects other people all the time And so what i'm trying to say is that if you're people that are pure in their own eyes Will be damned because they don't see the need to be saved They they think that uh, they're that they're righteous and that they're on their way to heaven right and uh, they're not They're filthy in the eyes of god And uh many times even people in today's world will justify sins like adultery and say i've done no wickedness Now adultery is a very wicked sin You say I don't think it's that bad then why did god place the death penalty on adultery in the old testament? Now stop and think about that. That's a pretty grievous sin I mean if my wife would be unfaithful to me or I would be unfaithful to my wife It would be wicked and and and violent side of god and and I should be worthy of death If I were to commit that sin of adultery and in the government that was under god's hand And god's authority of the children of israel. That was the punishment that was needed out upon adultery Death penalty now, that's a pretty major sin. That's a serious sin. But today it's thought of as well This was let me tell you my excuse And they're pure in their own eyes and yet god says they're filthy in the sight of god And now we justify so many things in our lives as christians. For example, look at isaiah 58 1 cry aloud Spare not lift up thy voice like a trumpet and this is speaking to a preacher And show my people their transgression and the house of jacob their sins You see the world out there the adulterous woman She wipes her mouth and says i've got no wickedness the world out there says i'm going to heaven because i'm a pretty good person I live a pretty good life. I never hurt anybody. I've never done anything too bad Hey the pentecostal and the holiness out there says i'm free from sin I'm living above sin and they're making god a liar and they themselves are the liar But let me tell you something even god's people many times live a life filled with sin And they are pure in their own eyes And that's why god commands the preacher to stand up and show people their sins Because oftentimes you may be living in sin and not even know about it You might be pure in your own eyes and say i'm living a clean life I'm living a righteous life and if we were to take a poll Of all the christians in america and all the different churches and we were to give them a questionnaire And say check one of these boxes. Would you describe your life as pure or filthy? Okay, most people would check pure right and many of them would be right Well, many people do live a clean life and a righteous life But I bet you that there would be people who committed adultery that would check and say pure People who are men who are living with their girlfriend that would check pure Girls that are living together with another man say well i'm not doing filthiness But the bible says this the filthiness of her fornication That's in revelation chapter 17. Did you hear that the bible calls? Fornication the filthiness of her fornication. He calls it filthy Men and women sleeping together that are not married. God defines that as filthiness and yet there are people who would say As long as we're monogamous, it's just us. We're just faithful to each other Hey, if you're not married and you're committing fornication god says it's filthiness It may be pure in your eyes and let me tell you something in america's eyes. It's pure In america's eyes, it's accepted But i'm going to tell you something is not acceptable in the eyes of god and it's filled with the bible You say well, I like this tv show It's a pure show. It's a wholesome show and yet you watch people kissing on the screen. You say oh big deal They're just kissing. Yeah, except they're married to other people in real life. Stop and think about that How would you like to see my wife up here kissing another man? When she's married to me would you call that here? But in in the world's eyes is pure people would say that the cleanest show on television was leave it to beaver And yet leave it to beaver every episode is a man kissing another man's wife every episode You say well, they're just acting. Oh, they're being paid to do it. That's called prostitution, right? There are people in hollywood who get in the bed with people They're not married to and on the silver screen out of the theater and the r-rated videos of today Things have come a long way from leaving to beaver Kissing another man whose life was okay back in the 1950s Well now they hop in the sack together on the silver screen with somebody. They're not married. They're paid to commit adultery What kind of a hypocritical nation do we live in where prostitution is illegal, but hollywood is legal Stop and think about that You know, you say oh in nevada prostitution is legal. No in hollywood california prostitution is legal Because in hollywood california women are paid to commit illicit acts with men on the screen and that is prostitution Either make prostitution legal or illegal my friend these bunch of hypocrites these ponies and why in the world would a god's people? Watch fornication and watch adultery and think that they're pure in their own eyes and say we're watching a pure show We're watching a pure video because the world said it's rated g because the world said it's rated pg Because the world said it's bg 13 and i'm 14 years old Hey, it doesn't matter what the world says It might be pure in your eyes It might be pure in hollywood's eyes It might be pure in the motion picture association of america's eyes when they rated it g or pg But a god says that fornication and adultery is phil. That's right. And if you watch it, you're watching phil. That's right. Yeah Don't you know that these actors and actresses many of them are married And yet they kiss each other and hang on each other when they're not married to one another That is filth That is good to see and see we you say man. You sound like a crazy man preaching his sleeve at the beaker I don't care if I sound like a crazy man or not. I'm telling you what the bible teaches And you know as well as I know that paying people to perform. I mean look god gives a loving act in marriage Right the physical act where we're look at proverbs 30 Proverbs chapter 30 where we just began reading, uh, this is where the chapter started, uh the sermon Look at verse 18 of proverbs 30 Verse 18 there will be three things which are too wonderful for me gate for which I know not The way of an eagle in the air the way of a serpent upon the rock The way of his ship in the midst of the sea and the way of a man with a mate, right? And then what is a maid in the bible? Basically the word maybe is virgin if you if you look it up in the bible because he talks about Remember in deuteronomy 22 where he marries a woman and then finds her not to be a maid He finds her not to be a virgin. That's what it means in deuteronomy 22 And so here we see the way of a man with me. Isn't it wonderful? He said is it a beautiful thing that god has created and then the world will take that and pay people To to do those kind of things, okay with somebody that they're not married to that's what the theater represents That's what hollywood represents. You love these actors. You put them on this put them on your wall leonardo caprio keanu reeves, you know mel gibson and uh brad pitt and and Tom cruise and you you put all these actors on the wall and you idolize them And you make a god out of them and yet they're filthy in the eyes of god Because they have taken god's wonderful act between a man and a maid And basically turn it into adultery and fornication and phil and that's what you're watching phil according to the bible if you watch it And you're participating when god said have no fellowship with the unfulfilled works of darkness But rather approve them what I just preached to you in the last 10 minutes will basically rule out 99 of television and movies You know, it's true You know, it's true Every single movie every single television virtually has some kind of kissing or hugging or making out and you say it's minor But when it's between people that are not that are married to somebody else. Hey, that's not mine See, oh come on. So what we saw two people kiss big deal. Well, you know, my kids have seen me and my wife kiss No big deal, right? But you know what if my kids saw my wife kissing another man, I think that's a big deal And I think you've just been desensitized by the world I think you need to get your head back in the bible and say yes It's pure in the world's eyes, but it's filthy in the eyes of god There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes and yet is not lost from their filthiness God said there is a generation. Oh how lofty are their eyes? And their eyelids are lifted up a prideful generation an arrogant generation a proud generation That thinks that they can have morality without the vital the things that they can have righteousness and holiness but without god I mean what in the world do you have that's righteous or holy if you don't have the vital? And yet they have a class down at the the school here called ethics Ethics class, right? We're going to teach you basic morality, you know basic right and wrong like what? There is no if there's no god and no holy bible then there is no right and wrong if we're animals, right? All there is is just what's right in our own eyes and what's right in my eyes might be different than what's right in your eyes And so really there is no right and wrong Who can really say it's wrong to steal? What what if my what if my ethic? What if my morality just tells me that you know, the earth is just all common to all of its creatures There is no ownership There is no private property. Your car is my car Your house is my house And if I want to come into your house and take something out of it that I like I'm a fellow creature on this earth And so I believe that it's my claim to everything on this earth to just take freely You say come on. That doesn't make any sense Well, who's to say that i'm right or wrong? Who god there is no god remember we're in public school right now Now stop and think about that for a minute though if you take away god You're just taking away all morality all right and wrong. This is what they say don't legislate morality Okay, well then do away with the law This isn't don't murder because that's going to take maintenance do away with laws against stealing if you want to legislate morality That doesn't take amendments You see of course we live a life based on morality in america But guess what? It wasn't a bunch of evolutionists and a bunch of queers that came up with the morality of america Hey, it came from the bible and we're watching it slip away But you know what they started from a starting point of the bible And then they just take out all the parts that they don't want, you know Well, we like the part about don't kill don't steal don't bear a false witness, but let's remove the part about fornication's wrong Let's take away the part that prostitution's wrong. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do the bible says? If you do away with the combinational principles of the bible, who knows where you're going to end up and so, uh, look What chapter are you in problems 30 look at revelation chapter three revelation chapter number three You see we must have an absolute right and wrong to tell us what is pure And what is filthy what is clean and what is dirty? What is holy? What is it? As soon as we take away the bible What is it that's going to replace the bible to tell us what's right and wrong? Is it the quran? Is what is it in america? But uh look at revelation chapter three and verse 14 The bible says and under the angel of the church of the lay of seah is right These things say at the amen the faithful and true witness the beginning of the creation of god I know thy words that thou are neither cold nor hot. I would not work cold or hot So then because thou art lukewarm and neither cold nor hot. I will spew thee out of my mouth Now this is spoken to a lukewarm church Basically, there are seven different churches in revelation two and three And really you can apply these labels Really to different churches in america today people say oh the church somebody said, you know, we're living in the lay of the sea and church age There's no such thing as the lay of the sea and church age There's no that's not what the bible said These were seven literal real churches and see don't say don't plug me in with some lukewarm age. I'm not lukewarm So i'm not some lay of the sea and believer Because you know a church down the street might be lukewarm a church down the street might have some jezebel woman teaching Like the bible talks about the church of thyatira teaching people that it's okay to eat things sacrifice to idols teaching people and and That kind of false doctrine and then seducing them to commit fornication. Hey that's going on in churches today There could be a church that's lukewarm there could be a church that is uh, you know They've lost their first love there could be a church that's being persecuted There could be a church that's growing all these different churches that we see But this is spoken to a lukewarm church. Now. This is not you're not sitting in a lukewarm church Thank god But there are lukewarm churches out there. This is what god is saying to a lukewarm church He's saying first of all, I want to steal you out of my mouth because you make me sick I wish you would just choose which side you're on and decide whether to be hot or cold He says in verse 18, why why did this church make god so mad verse 17 starts with the word what because So he's going to tell us this is why I will spew thee out of my mouth. You notice that because again in verse 16 It says I will spew thee out of my mouth because you see that so we're getting the reason in verse 17 because thou sayest I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing and know it's not That thou art wretched and miserable and poor and grinding naked So wait a minute. Here's the church that's pure in their own eyes The lukewarm church does not know that they're lukewarm because god says that the key attribute of a lukewarm church that makes him so sick That makes him want to spew them out of nothing is that they think That they have it all together He said because that he said this is why I want to speed up because you say that you're rich And increased with good and have need of nothing and no it's not he said it's the fact that you don't know It's wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked It's the fact that you're pure in your own eyes and you're not you're not lost for your filthiness Look at verse 18. I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire That thou mayest be rich and white raiment that thou mightest be clothed And that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear and anoint thy eyes with eyes that thou mayest see So he's saying here that there are five things And they don't even know it wretched miserable poor blind and naked let's think about the first two Look, if you would at uh at proverbs 14 keep your finger in revelation three, but turn to proverbs 14 Now the first two on the list are virtually synonymous He's kind of just emphasizing it wretched and miserable are both pretty much synonyms to each other Miserable wretched and you think of something just being pathetic You think of somebody suffering? What what does misery mean? Misery means that you're in suffering could be physical pain, right? Could be anguish of the spirit, but either way misery Is a condition of not being happy. I guess you could say right you're pathetic You're you're sorry You're miserable. You're wretched You're yeah, and you know the bible used the word wretched one of the time and that's in romans chapter 7 when paul said Oh wretched man that I am who shall deliver me from the body is dead So wretched and miserable pretty much synonymous But uh, look at proverbs 14 12 There is a way and this has to do with our sermon tonight, uh be pure in your own eyes You're not washed for your filthiness. There is a way which seemeth right unto a man But the end thereof are the ways of death You see the way of the world according the bible seems right But he said it's not right and the end there is with it seems pure, but it's filthy It seems right, but it's not right. See how am I to know the difference? It's the only way to know As I illustrated earlier with my illustration about stealing and everything it comes from the bible. Okay. Well Look at the next verse though. Don't stop reading there He said there is a way which seems right unto a man but the end thereof are the ways of death Now verse 13 is a continuation of the same thought Because he used some pronouns that indicate that look at this. He says even in laughter The heart is sorrowful And the end of that mirth Is heaviness what did it say in verse 12 the end? Thereof are the ways of death right and then the next verse he continues that same thought saying hey even laughter the heart is sorrowful And the end of that mirth Is heaviness mirth is what Fun having a good time the bible is saying here that the way of the world seems right why because on the outside there's laughing There's fun Right. Everybody seems like they're having a great time, you know the people that are going out clubbing tonight You know and they think they're so cool, don't they? Oh, yeah, you know, I heard a girl I was in la and I heard this girl on a cell phone Okay, you know you wonder where I get all the stuff in my sermons. This girl's on cell phone She's like, oh i'm going clubbing tonight in la, you know, i'm gonna go clubbing You know what? She's laughing. She's having a good time on the outside. You know what that girl's not really happy You think that girl's happy? She'd be a lot happier if she would get married have children have a husband who really loves her not to just be Groped by a bunch of guys on the dance floor that she doesn't even know that don't even care about her Don't even care what her name is don't care who she is or what happens to her They're just lusting after her body. Hey clubbing Maybe it's murk on the outside and fun on the outside, but you end there over the waves of death Hey, it's even in even in laughter. The heart is sorrowful And those of you who maybe have been out in the world right living the party life and thank god I never jumped into that world of a party because I grew up in a christian home and so forth But those of you who've been out there in the world You can probably remember those laughing fun times and in your heart there was sadness and sorrow guilt Sadness, what is the point of my life? What am I doing? What does any of this mean? What is the purpose of being here be nobody loves me. These people aren't my real friends and you want you're right When you're living that life, there is no point in your life. You're right. Those people aren't really your friends You're right. You are going nowhere in life, but thanks be to god Hey if you go god's way if you live god's kind of life you are going somewhere like that If you're saved you are somebody important. You're a child of god. You're you're a child of the king you're ambassadors for christ Hey your life means something And i'm going to tell you something the world's way looks fun kids Teenagers don't make the mistakes of those who have to go try it first and then realize that it was vanity of vanities Hey kids, uh teenagers children listen to me now and just decide hey, wait a minute I'm not going to be deceived by the world's uh design that says oh dancing fun Rock and roll, you know sleeping around party party party laugh laugh fun fun Hey, even in laughter the heart is sorrowful and the end of that mirth is heaviness The world doesn't even know how miserable they really are because they've never even been happy You see the girl is going out clubbing She's never been married and had kids to understand that that's a much more enjoyable life She's never gone to church and heard real preaching and read the bible and been filled with the holy spirit And gone out and wants somebody to christ and done what's right with her life. She doesn't even know that she's wretched and miserable She thinks she's happy, but she's miserable The world out there thinks they're happy. They don't even know what happiness is Thank god, I know what it is to be happy I know what it is that joy unspeakable and full of glory but the world out there They don't even know that they're wretched and miserable and the lukewarm christian Doesn't know that they're miserable That they'd be so much happier if they would be living for god, but they're miserable. They're wretched and they don't even know it Because they're living a life of sin and they could be living a life god's way But You know, they're laughing on the outside, but they're sad on the inside and they may even think that they're happy But the bible says they're not Because it's all relative what happiness is We who have experienced real happiness know that there's no happiness that the world has to offer But look at uh, look at proverbs 13 here in chapter 14 We saw that the bible said thou knowest not That thou are wretched and miserable and what was the next one poor? Poor look at verse seven there is that maketh himself rich yet hath nothing There is that maketh himself poor yet hath great riches. You see the world thinks they're rich the lukewarm christian, right? And you know, sometimes these lukewarm churches the lukewarm christians. They're trying to appeal to rich people sometimes This church is not made to appeal to rich people You know, they want to keep everything, you know, everything's like a palace and everything now We ought to keep it clean Keep it organized keep it clean But you know what? We're not going to build some shrine with gold and silver and precious stones and a stained glass window God is not well in the temple that's made with hands. You know what god's house that he designed was a tent Did you know that god's house that man designed was the was the enshrined temple of salt? But the one that god designed was the tabernacle and it was made in the form of a tent Okay And when god doesn't live in some kind of a a palace made with hands hey christ in you The hope of god your body is the temple of the holy ghost And this church is never going to be geared toward rich people Because you know what when we go soloing in the rich areas most of the people there i'm fine. No, thanks I want to hear it and you know what that's fine with me Because you know what i'll welcome the poor into this church, right? I mean you say oh man What the whole church is filled with poor people thank god Oh, man, where are your money? We don't need any money. It's free to preach It's free to win souls. It's free to sing songs. We don't need money Okay, whatever the ties of god's people whatever it comes in. We'll use it for the glory of god We'll use it to get people safe. We'll hire people to go up and down the street preaching the gospel, huh? We'll spend money. We'll eat and drink and be merry as a church together at the activities But you know what? We only will spend what we have And what we don't have we don't need and if our church is filled with poor people who can't put anything in the plate Thank god can still be the greatest church in the world People that are in these lukewarm liberal churches they pull up in a mercedes They pull up in the bmw they pull up in the fancy car And when they walk inside they say hey i'm rich I have need of nothing And they don't know that they're wretched and miserable because god wants to spit them out I'd rather have god be pleased with me and have no car Or to drive a beat-up car and say god is pleased with me then to have god say man You may be so sick how watered down you are how lukewarm you are in that church how backslidden you are how how oh, man Just pick a sign pick something Money is not what puts you up high in the eyes of god now in the eyes of this world. Yes It's all about how much money you have right people will look at you I mean people when they think that you're rich will treat you differently than when they think you're poor, you know, that's true I mean if you why do you think why do you think people that are rich buy the fancy car? I mean, what's really the difference? I've rented some really fancy cars at the car rental place. I just happened to get in a fancy car I've driven fancy cars that belong to others But really I couldn't really tell I mean how fancy can the car really get? You know if you've got leather seats in your car, I mean, I guess you got it all. All right, you got the p You know, so uh preaching to you tonight brother but but the point is What can you really get any fancier than that? You know what I mean? I don't you know all those little plastic squares all over my dash. I don't know what they're I don't know What would go there if I had the decked out model, you know what i'm talking about? There's all you know, you have the stripped model So there's all these buttons there's just like a square that doesn't push who knows what i'm talking about Yeah, you know what i'm talking about because your car is the same way, right? That's what my mind is, you know, because you don't have all the options So it's just all these little plastic squares and I always try to wonder What goes in that square? You know, i've got cruise control You know, i'm seeing all I mean like there's a button I have a button in my car That's for the traction control to turn it off and on But then there's three other buttons next to it and I can't even figure out what they would be Then on the steering wheel, I have six buttons that are dunnied out I mean, what are these six buttons for and then there's four more in the middle of the dash And then there's a square where like the clock would go How do you have a clock on the stereo? What do I need another clock for? You know, but you say oh man, you know, I got this this hundred thousand dollar car Well, so what you know, I get in my car. It drives me where I need to go I turn on alexander squirby reading the holy bible I can turn on the stereo and listen to preaching or the bible being read on tape or whatever I want. Hey, I mean I can use cruise control. My car's got an air conditioner and a heater and didn't cost near that much money What is it that you need with this fancy car? I'll tell you the main reason You say oh, you're a fan of the amenities. It's voice activated, you know heat up heat up my seat Warm up the cushion You know what I mean recline back point point five, uh, you know degrees or something We're climbing a 17 degree angle Okay, what is it that you want no you're missing the whole point folks The reason that you want that fancy car is to impress other people. That's the biggest reason You say why do rich people buy a hundred thousand dollar car? It's to impress other they don't need all those buttons and stuff I don't even know what they do I'm telling you it's called conspicuous consumption It's called people buy a fancy car because they want people to look up to them because they drive a fancy car That's why they want people to look up to them because they live in a fancy house because they drive a fancy car Because they wear fancy clothes why to impress other people? That's why because it doesn't satisfy them to be rich unless other people know that they're rich. Are you listening? Because what good is riches to the man that owns it according to ecclesiastes except to be holding up them with his eyes He's tired of staring at his fancy car He has to get in the car and drive it and show it to you Because he wants people to look up to him and treat him well But i'm gonna tell you something the eyes of god, it doesn't lift you up at all And when you come to church, it shouldn't lift you up in the eyes of the people at church The bible says if they're coming to your assembly a man It says in gay apparel, you know, we're not talking about the shops at apicrombie and fits and urban outfit Okay, that's not what we're saying We're when it says he comes in gay apparel, it's just kind of like gone We now are gay apparel, you know And he says, you know him that wears the gay clothing in james chapter two And then they're coming also a poor man in vile raiment You know messed up dirty tattered clothes and thou says to the poor, you know Stand out there or sit here under my footstool and you say the rich man. Oh sit here in a good place God rebukes that and says that you're you're sinning He says when you give preference to those that are rich over those that are poor Physically in this world and god said had not god chosen the poor of this world rich in faith And heirs of the kingdom which he had promised to them to look but he despised the poor And so in our eyes if somebody pulls up an alexis Pulls up in a mercedes pulls up in a ferrari It should not be any different than if somebody pulls up and you know back that backfires on the way You know You know, i'm sorry i'm thinking of brett's car Good night. Not not his truck. Who's who saw brett's car before the old the other one the other guy I mean, it was literally held together with bailing wire It had some tinker bell decal on the window. I don't know what that was about I mean He he drove me. I live a quarter mile away and I was wondering are we gonna make it to church? And he picked me up and gave me a ride I'm not kidding. I mean it was like we were going down 48th. We're all gonna cry It was just kind of jerking back and forth i'm like is this car gonna make it You're poor you're ready you're wretched you're miserable You're poor No, i'm just kidding But the point is hey You know whether brett pulled up in that piece of junk that he was driving that's not even fit for the road Or tonight when he's here in his you know Cool, you know silver truck, you know Nice vehicle to me. It really didn't change the way that I would look at him Because I think the first time I saw him he was in that big piece of junk But really when he showed up in the nice silver fancy 4x4, it really did not change him in my estimate I mean, i'm just telling you the truth, right? I mean when I saw the one I saw the other it meant nothing to me I'm not impressed by that and you know what neither is god God's not impressed by that either What god is impressed with is the true riches because i'm gonna tell you something there is that maketh himself rich and hath nothing And there is that maketh himself poor yet had great riches the things that really matter in life treasure in heaven How about how about a church that you can call home? How about friends that love you? How about a family that loves you? How about souls that you've won to christ? These are the things that matter in life Not the bank statement And you know those those that have riches today. Anyway, I mean they're watching them Fly away anyway with the stock market crash and so forth And uh, so, you know, he said you don't know it's a wretched miserable poor. What about blind look at second peter chapter one second peter check number one What are we talking about the lukewarm church, you know what i'm talking about The water we're not talking about the total liberal church talking about the lukewarm church the watered down church Where the deacons are just a deacon by default because they drive a fancy car Right where riches are lifted up Where the people are wretched and miserable and poor and whined and naked and they don't even know it because they're not zealous Uh, look, what was that? What was the rebuke that was given to that church earlier this year? He said as many as I love I rebuke and chasten. He said look, I love you That's why i'm reviewing you right now as many as I love I rebuke and chasten be zealous therefore and repent He's saying repent of being lukewarm Repent of being watered down repent of being wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked Buy of me gold tried in the fire. God mayest be rich Hey put on by of me white raiment wherewith thou mayest be cold that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear But look at second peter chapter one And verse number four the bible says whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises that by these You might be partakers of the divine nature having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust Verse five and beside this giving all diligence add to your faith because it all starts with faith, right? I mean getting saved believing on jesus christ to start with faith, but he says add to your faith virtue And to virtue knowledge, that's what we preached about this morning getting knowledge getting instruction learning education He said add to knowledge Temperance and to temperance Patience what's temperance controlling yourself having yourself under control is what temperance be and the temperance patience And to patience godliness, what's patience being in it for the long haul? What's godliness following god's commandments living the way that god commands you to live And to godliness brotherly kindness and the brotherly kindness charity. That's the final step. The bible says charity is the bond of perfectness For if these things be in you and abound They make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our lord. Jesus christ Now you already have the knowledge of our lord. Jesus christ You believed on him to salvation, but he says you don't want to be unfruitful in that knowledge In order to not be unfruitful and what's the synonym of unfruitful there bearing they both mean the same thing, right? You're not going to be barren or unfruitful. What does it mean to be barren? What does it mean when a woman is bearing? She cannot reproduce. She cannot have children, right? God is saying you want to be able to reproduce You want to be able to bring forth fruit and multiply it's exactly what uh, Reproduction is fruit bearing. Okay, and we're not talking about physically we're talking about spiritually winning souls to christ bringing forth fruit Some 30 some 60 some 100. How are you going to bring forth fruit? You must have these things in your life faith virtue temperance patience godliness kindness charity If these things abound in you They make you you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our lord Jesus You don't want to just know a bunch of things and then not be fruitful, right? And if you have these things you'll be fruitful, but he that lacketh these things is what blind And cannot see afar off and then forgotten that he was purged from his old sins He's saying he cannot see the future or the past. He can only see the present He's forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. He cannot see into the future. He can't see a far off He is only just short-sighted and blind. God told the latest team church. You're blind. You can't see a far off now the What is it about the person that's blind? They're unfruitful. They're not bringing forth fruit. They're not winning souls You see there's one thing that you can do for god that you don't really see always The result of now and that's when he's nobody Christ You see I won somebody price today on the far other side of town 45 minutes It took me 45 minutes to get from there to here When I was done and I won this guy the lord What have I seen? The results of that You know, I mean I watched him believe, you know, he's in the bible. He understood it. He believed on christ He received christ his savior, but what really? Do I have now? But see the thing is i'm not blind like that. I can see it far off Hey, I can see that guy in heaven I can see one day the fruit of my labor. You see he may never come to church He may never make a 45-minute drive or you know, he may he may never you know Want to come to our church for whatever reason he doesn't want to come to this church But i'm gonna tell you something one day i'm gonna see him in heaven and i'm the faith to see that far off Okay, those who can't see Far off like that. They're blind the bible says and it causes them to be lukewarm He's saying those that are lukewarm are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked What does it mean to be blind? It means you're unfruitful. It means you don't win souls It means that you're barren It means that you can't see a bomb you can't see the benefit and today churches can't see the benefit of solely That's why they're canceling it They're starting to cancel soul-winning and switch to inviting people to church because this is about how far they can see in front of their Face right here. This is what they can see And so they say well if I invite somebody to church I can see them There they are sitting in the pew next to me. I see them So they'd rather hand out ten thousand leaflets 20,000 flyers and see one person come to church after that 40 50 60 hours of handing stuff out Have one visitor show up that they can see because at least right there in front of them they can see Then to go out and spend 50 hours winning souls to christ Get a whole bunch of people say that one day way far off you're going to see them in heaven and praise god Yeah, someone will come to church now. Someone will get baptized now Someone will live for god and you get to see that but most of the fruit of your labor You're not going to see until far off till you get to heaven But if you can't see that then you're blind you see faith is seeing the invisible Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen and so if you have faith You can see afar off and say hey, wait a minute I'm going to spend my time on something that's going to bring the most joy in eternity the most good for god That's going to be winning people to Christ And I can see the end of my faith. I can see the end of my labor. I can see that my labor is not in faith But look one more place. I'm almost done. Look at uh Look at exodus chapter 28 verse 42 So what is it that uh that makes us pure in our own eyes And yet we're not washed from our filthiness number one. Hey participating in sins That god condemns, but the world says is okay like fornication adultery prostitution Well, you know, I already explained how about this whole hollywood california is nothing but a whorehouse. Okay, uh prostitution pornography The world condones drinking the world condones drug abuse the world say the world doesn't condone drug Yeah, as long as it's sanctioned by the government and the american medical association is fine To take my adultering drugs according to the world to put kids on drugs in kindergarten in elementary school Okay, so don't tell me the world doesn't condone drugs They condone drugs as long as it's the drugs that they want inside Just like they condone adultery just as long as it's their kind of adultery They condone fornication as long as it's the fornication that they think is okay You see what I mean? Because they don't let god be the authority. They're pure in their own eyes But they're not washed in their ability There is a way to seem right into a man, but the end thereof of the ways of death The bible says in those days there was no king in israel But every man did that which was right in his own eyes and you see the wicked things that they did when they did What was right? In their own eyes, but it was not right in god's eyes pure in their own eyes yet not washed in their filthiness Lukewarm watered down backslidden and yet thinking that you're a good christian, right? Living a life in sin and the pastor needs to get up and show you your sins Because you're not as clean and pure as you thought you were you're actually filthy And uh, you're actually wretched and miserable when you're out clubbing When you're out partying when you're out doing the things that god says are wrong being a drunk I mean, I remember these girls at the pizza place. I used to work at ground table pizza in california Hey, they used to come to work and talk about puking up their guts after a drunken party and I couldn't figure out How is that fun Oh, yeah, you know, I mean these these little teenage girls And they're throwing up from binge drinking And they're just a nice little teenage girl Good night. That girl's not happy. She's wretched and miserable You're not rich because you have what the world has the goods and the toys and the money Hey, you're rich when god is pleased with you and when you have treasures in heaven Not treasures on this earth where moth and rust is corrupt more thieves break through and steal Hey, you may come to church in rags clothed in rags and walk through the door But if you're living for god blessed are the poor and spirit for there's the kingdom of heaven Blind hey people think that they can see what's going on. They can't see it I listened to a preacher today. I listened to a sermon just just for kicks I was listening to a sermon and from an independent fundamental baptist preacher and I just walked away saying this guy's blind He can't understand what's going on in america. He doesn't understand the verses that he's preaching He's blind because he's lukewarm because he's not jealous because he's watered down because he's unfruitful But not only that naked Many people thought what was our next verse? There's a generation that appear in their own eyes and yet has not watched their filkiness We live in a society that is naked and they don't even know it They don't even know christians in a lukewarm church today and lay out to see a baptist church are naked And they don't know that they're naked and that's the thing that makes god the most bad He says one thing to be naked But can you at least confess your sin and acknowledge that you're naked can you at least acknowledge that you're blind? We at least acknowledge that you don't win souls. We at least acknowledge that you're wretched and miserable and poor He says what makes me want to spew you out of my mouth is when you say that you're rich and say that you're clothed when you're naked Look at exodus 28 42 the bible reads and I shall make them linen britches to cover their nakedness From the loins even under the thighs they shall reach anything between your loins and your Your loins and your thighs is your nakedness and it's not covered. You're naked according to the bible Your nakedness not covered unless your loins and your thighs are covered. And by the way, the bible says naked Comma, and this is the book of isaiah having their buttocks uncovered Did you hear that definition so you're having your buttocks exposed that is nakedness Your loins are your nakedness your thighs are your nakedness anything from the waist to your knees front or back? That is nakedness according not to pastor anderson but according to the bible Not according to motion picture association of america, but according to the bible That is nakedness these girls today and it's obscene It's vile they walk around like a plumber or a carpenter and you know what i'm talking about these teenage girls And it's unbelievable that that's in style It's unbelievable that that's cool You know what i'm talking about these girls walk around with their buttocks exposed And it's a shame There's nothing cute about it. They don't know that they're naked when they're doing it You say I don't think it's nakedness. The bible said it was nakedness the book of isaiah The bible said your thighs and your loins are making this and so many christians today because they're in a watered-down church Because they don't hear this kind of preach. Hey, thank god somebody's showing you your sins, right? You're going to a church that's preaching you the bible since you're not walking around naked without even knowing it See, I don't really think i'm naked. Okay. Well, then what do you think is naked? Since you're now god since you now decide what nakedness is since god doesn't decide since the holy bible Unless you want to show me in the bible Some other standards of nakedness that are that are different that actually show you where you should expose your thigh And you should expose your loins and you should expose your your back side then i'm going to go with the bible Or have you made up your own little laws? And why would you care to share with the rest of the class your your revelations that you had from god about what nakedness is? You see if we don't make god's standards our standards the bible standards are sent We are pure in our own eyes and yet we may be filthy in the eyes of god Hey get clothed the way god tells you to get clothed and that means down to the knee And and especially this is the ladies who are the ones who are the most guilty of the short skirts and the shorts and all This hey be clothed down to your knees ladies, and I don't care whether you're swimming Uh, you know if you're swimming by yourself in your own backyard, you know, that's one thing Okay, that's that's between you and god because you know as long as you have the wall around your house and do whatever you want You know if you're if you're uh with the same gender, okay And you know, that's one thing but you know what if you're going to be in mixed company You better be clothed and I don't care if you call it swimming or not I mean, it's not right you could just because you call it swimming and all of a sudden a bunch of guys and girls strip down Hey that doesn't make it right That still makes it Adultery when when a man looks on a woman to lust after her he committed adultery with her already in his heart Hey, it sounds like she's part of the problem because he's committing it with her Okay, because the woman is exposing herself and the man is feasting his eyes or vice versa And so the point is that whatever you want to call it whatever you want to draw the line Hey I'm not going to be naked in front of the opposite gender unless it's my wife because that's what the bible teaches And ladies you should not put on these bathing suits of america and go out in front of these guys and think that you're not naked you're wrong You can think it's pure but it's wrong. You can think it's right, but it's wrong You can think it's clean, but the bible says no Call it swimming But you know what if you're swimming you should be dressed the same modesty as if you're not sweating I'm, not again. You said are you against swimming? I love swimming. I have a pool in my backyard I swim in it all the time You know, I just went swimming in the ocean two days ago But guess what? I wasn't naked You say of course you weren't naked No, I wasn't even naked by god's standards my friend. I was clothed to god's standards because I was clothed Uh, I was clothed in a way that covered me and did not expose my niggas And i'm not going to go to the beach and all of a sudden put on a pair of short shorts with three stripes on the side a d-desk and and go say that i'm not naked And you know you grow and you know what by the way I'm not going to go hang out at some beach where a bunch of girls are naked either And say well i'm dressed i'm totally dressed You know what I mean? And go to one of these beaches where and look i'm not against going to the beach because you know You can go to the beach in places where there aren't a bunch of girls around I go we go my family we go to the lake we go to the ocean we go to the beach But you know what you just have to go to beaches that are not filled with people partying The beach, you know, the beach is huge. Have you ever driven down highway one? It goes on for about a thousand miles. Okay, and so not all of it's filled with a bunch of new people In bikinis in their in their underwear, okay You can find beaches and find lakes and find places to go swimming where you're not being tempted to look upon A bunch of nude body. You say come on that's just you You're the one who's tempted when you go to the beach where all the people where all the girls are playing volleyball and bikini That's just you. Okay. Well, then let's go to a nude beach Let's go to a totally nude beach Right, you know, there are nude beaches right, you know in california. They have a nude beach Let's go to a nude beach since you're never going to be tempted to go to a nude beach See the problem is that you're drawing a different line where nakedness is Because you would not approve of pastor aniston going to a nude beach Would you But see you ought not approve of me going to a beach that's just filled with a bunch of girls that are in bikinis Because according to the bible they're nude as well You see what i'm saying? And so no i'm not against going to the beach. No, i'm not against going to the river No, i'm not against rafting and canoeing and kayaking. No, i'm not against any of those things In fact, I like all those things but I am going to do them with my clothes on You know, somebody thought that I was crazy before because I was swimming in a pair of pants Or we're getting up or swimming in a pair of shorts that was you know, at least well to my knees But you know what? Hey, and who's ever seen these east indians? Who who go down the river rafting in dresses and suits and ties have you ever seen that? And I was in second when I was in california growing up and there were always every time I went to the river There'd be these groups of east indians, you know I'm not talking about indians like i'm not talking about, you know, the pima or the navajo i'm talking about from india Okay, and they would go down the river They'd be rafting and the ladies were wearing dresses and the men wore suits and ties in the raft And they had a horse who had seen that come on and somebody else. I have more respect for somebody who has their clothes on than somebody who's naked You know and I when I go around thinking hey i'm dressed When you go around think be dressed and your ladies if I wouldn't kill you get in the raft wearing a skirt that goes down Blow your knees you'll survive I don't think they're gonna laugh at me. You know what they laughed at jesus when he was on his way to the cross But it's a good thing. He didn't say oh, I don't want anybody to laugh at me Right. I think i'm just gonna put down the cross and just let the world go to hell He said go ahead and laugh at me. I'm gonna do what's right And you know what? You say oh, but these activities I gotta wear shorts. I gotta wear pants I gotta wear a bikini. I gotta do this You know what if there's any activity ladies that you can't do in a skirt Maybe you just shouldn't be doing it you ever stop and think about that See, oh there's got to be exceptions, you know, you know what i've seen girls go skiing in a skirt I've seen them go swimming in a skirt I've seen them do everything in a skirt and you know what if they say but they can't You know my wife went horseback riding in a skirt. There was a time in this country and it was only about what 80 years ago So don't tell me that it's impossible to obey god's laws And for a woman to be feminine and not put on men's clothing and vice versa for man to be uh masculine Not put on women's clothing you can wear that long skirt and do anything that god wants you to do And i'm all for you know athletics i'm all for being active and fit and so on but you don't have to get you know You don't have to strip down in short shorts or bikini or whatever to do these kind of activities You know, if you have a desire to do what's right, you can do what's right And you know what the world may not approve and i'm gonna tell you to look like a geek Do you think my wife looked like a geek in her special skirt that she made to ride horses in no It's a beautiful skirt. It was a fast. She looked in fashion. It was a fast little skirt It was a nice skirt and it was nice and flowing and flowing out and it looked nice I'm, not saying to look like a geek i'm not saying to look like those east indians going down the river You know what? I mean? They did look a little geeky i'll confess But it wasn't because they were wearing dresses and and and so it was the dresses that they were wearing that made me look A little weird and it was the suits that they were wearing that made them look a little weird But you know what if they would have just been dressed in normal clothing I my whole frustration with that is that they were able to wrap they were able to go through the rapids They went through the san juan rapids dressed like that My point is that it can be done. That's my point. I'm not saying to emulate their exact dress code But you know what? I'd rather have somebody laugh at me and make fun of me and do what's right now god be pleasing me Than to have god be upset and the world says you're cool You're wonderful. I love your car. I love the way you dress. You're so awesome It means nothing. It means less than nothing my friend. Don't you realize yet that the accolades of this world are meaningless? It's whether you're pure in god's eyes not the world's eyes whether you're cool in god's eyes and not the world If you want to be cool, is that what it is be cool Grow up Are you a little kid or something? Amen, you should have grown out of that You know when you're a little kid, you gotta have the right shoes and the right clothes so you can be cool and fit in When I became a man I put away childish things and you ought to be past that if you're 20 years old Come on grow up. Are you still interested be cool? 30 You're 40 years old. You're trying to be cool. You're not cool. You'll never be cool You're old Anyway, don't try to be cool. Try to be consecrated Try to be righteous try to be christian try to be godly do what's right There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes and yet is not washing their filthiness But let's never become a lukewarm church Where we start thinking that we're pure when in reality we're rich miserable poor blind and naked Let's be righteous in the sight of god and not let the world And their standards tell us what's right because they are pure in their own eyes and not washed Let's not let them tell us what's right. Let's let the bible tell us what's right Let's bow our heads and have a word of prayer father, please just bless the sermon to our ears to god Help everyone who's here to to stop and think hey, wait a minute is the world Telling me what's right and wrong or is the bible tell me what's right and wrong? Help us not to let this wicked generation become our moral compass And decide for us what is naked what is not what is acceptable what's not what's g rated what's not? Help us to let the bible be our guide and to well walk in a way that will please you That we be not unfruitful. We don't want to be unfruitful We want to see people saved and so god, please help us to let these things abound in us And be righteous and clean in your eyes and in jesus name we pray.
