Let's count up salvation's for this past week Let's start in the back section Three anybody else one Anybody else in the back section? All right for salvation's in the back section my son man. He always gets five, right? Every week. All right, great jobs up. All right Anybody in this section any salvation's anybody? All right. What about in this section any salvation's anybody? Five, okay five. I wasn't sure if you're raising your hand or four was five. Okay five. All right, anybody else anybody I missed All right, well great job everybody keep up the great work and in the middle of a bulletin We do have a lot of upcoming activities. We have choir practice many times before our anniversary service on November 27th as a reminder the anniversary service will not be here because this is a normal Sunday in terms of attendance and I'm assuming we're gonna have a bigger crowd for our anniversary. We're not going to fit in here So we're actually renting out a venue that is pretty nearby It's near the Gulag area, but that's where our performance is going to be for choir also coming up before then We have our Children's Day in two weeks. It was a great time last year it's gonna be a great time as well both for parents and for kids and Also on Saturday November 12th for our anniversary in Pampanga That also will not be at our normal church location because we're renting out a building and so we did have a sign-up sheet Last week for those that want to come to the event that need a ride or gonna be coming down if you did not sign Up for it, but you still want to be a part of that. Let me know You can tell me you can message me on Facebook and we'll add you to that Let me know if you need a ride, but that's gonna be great And obviously, you know this church started the church in Pampanga and honestly It would not have started just on my own because you know when we started there's a lot of guys that were preaching sermons It was not just me because I really didn't know if I could preach, you know, five sermons in a week So a lot of guys stepped in and preached and everything like that So, you know we get to rejoice in the work that we did and how it's a growing church there in Pampanga But anyways, that's it for announcements. We'll have our brother Raffi lead us in another song Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Let us open our Bibles to first Corinthians chapter 5 first Corinthians chapter 5 That's it is our custom. We are going to read the whole chapter first Corinthians chapter 5 Please say amen when you're there First Corinthians 5 It is reported commonly that there was fornication among you and such fornication Is not so much as named among the Gentiles that one should have his father's wife And he are puffed up and have not rather mourned that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you Five early as absolute body But present spirit have judged already as though I were present concerning him that hath so done this deed in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ when you are gathered together and my spirit with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ to deliver such an honor to Satan For the destruction of the flesh that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus Your glory is not good. No, we not that a little 11 levels the whole lump Perch out therefore the old level that he may be a new lump as young unleavened for even Christ Our pastor was sacrificed for us. Therefore. Let us keep the feast not with the old level Neither with 11 of malice and wickedness But with a living bread of sincerity and truth I have wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with for Niketas Yet not all together with the for Niketas of this world or with the coverage's or shortness or with idolaters for then must he needs Go out of the world But now I have written unto you not to keep company if any man that is called a brother be a for Niketa or coverage's and Olata or Rayla or drunkard or extortion up with such one and not to do Not to eat for what have I to? Judge them also that are without Do not he judge them that are within? But them that are without God judges therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person and let us wait I thank your father for the word and we ask you that He will give us some situation to understand your word and help us also always apply the things that that we hear and we pray in his name All right, we are here in first Corinthians five, let me just give a disclaimer You know, you don't have to worry. Okay, it's like you come to this chapter people like oh no It's like I don't know of any major problems that we're dealing with right now Nobody's getting kicked out of church or anything like that It is our text chapter though But what I'm preaching on is a church that is blameless a church that is blameless now You don't have to turn me about on the front of our bulletin We have our verse of the week where also reading verse 14 where it says do all things without murmurings and disputings And then it says that you may be blameless and harmless the sons of God without work without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation among whom he shine as lights in the world and what the Bible says is that we as people should strive to be Blameless and harmless now, here's the thing All of us are sinners and we understand this and of course we cannot be sinless But the Bible does say that we can be blameless now that's true on an individual level But if the goal of an individual is to be blameless, well the goal of a church would be to be blameless, right? I mean as a church we want to be blameless not just as individuals but collectively as a church We should strive to be blameless So we have three points here today and the first thing that will cause a church not to be blameless Is if there's major sins that are not being dealt with where someone should get kicked out of church Okay, and that's what first Corinthians 5 is talking about That's the first thing you would think of because that's the most major one Obviously if there's major sins that are not dealt with the Bible says in first came first Corinthians 5 verse 1 It is reported commonly that there's fornication among you in such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles That one should have his father's wife. So there's this church and there's a guy in the church that is Intimately involved with his father's wife now, this is just perverse I mean, this is just a bizarre that someone would come to church and have that major of a sin that they're dealing with and This is something that's not even named amongst the Gentiles and I would say yeah, you know I've never heard of this in real life, right? And this is a major major sin that is going on and what what's it's not just as a major sin in the church It's commonly reported Meaning even outside the church people are aware They know that that's the church where that person goes that is basically involved with his father's wife It's like what that means is the church is not blameless, right? I mean you could criticize that church and say they've got the most extreme sin We've ever even heard of in a church and they're accepting it Well, they're not blameless right and so this chapter gives us a template on if we accept sins like this in our church as a church We are not blameless people could criticize us for basically allowing sin in our church verse number two And You're puffed up and if not rather mourns that he that hath done this team might be taken away from among you and it says They're in verse number two. It says you're puffed up. Now. What does that mean? It means the church itself got basically arrogant about the fact that they were allowing a sin You say why would they get arrogant? Well, the idea is they're basically saying we're too loving ever to get rid of anybody from church, right? That's the sort of attitude and yet in 1922 Most Baptist churches are like the Church of Court Anything goes and if you would say what about first Corinthians 5 they'd say well We just believe that God is a god of the second chances, right? We're just you know, too nice to kick someone out and they'll say things like the church is like a hospital, right? I don't have a problem with that analogy if you properly use it because in many ways church is like a hospital It's a place for the people that are sick or sinners Right to get better through the preaching of God's Word But here's the thing when you make an analogy. It doesn't mean analogies are perfect, especially an analogy That's not even mentioned in the Bible. Okay, and look, I don't know how all hospitals work But let me just state something that not all viruses are the same. Sometimes there's quarantine laws within a hospital I mean if you walk in it's like what's your condition? I've got the black plague I'm pretty sure they're gonna deal with you a little bit differently than other people Right. I mean so even in a hospital that I mean even with the COVID There's quarantining and all kinds of rules and everything like that So look you can use that analogy if you want and I'll probably in the future preach a sermon called churches like a hospital But realize it's an analogy and you got to use Bible to actually back up and not just what seems right to you Okay, yeah church is like a hospital but the Bible also says but some people get rejected at the door and it says well We can't treat you right? That's what the Bible teaches says in verse 3 For I vary as absent in body But present in spirit have judged already as though I were present concerning him that hath so done this deed And what Paul says is you know, I'm not even there But this is my judgment. I've already told you what I think Now why is Paul able to talk about this when he is not there to verify stuff well, it's commonly reported Right if there's 20 reports about something and let me help you understand this if one person comes to me and makes An accusation about someone it's like well, I I have to verify things like I don't know if it's true or not It's just what one person said But if 20 people come to me with the same thing that's enough verification out of the mouth of two or three witnesses Right. I mean if 20 people say I saw that person commit murder guilty Right. What else is there to talk about? I mean, there's witnesses to what actually took place So Paul's able to report because it's commonly reported now some people try to go to the book of Matthew and they say well This is every situation that you got to basically give them a chance like it's a courtroom They get to tell you what they think it's like no, no, no, there's certain situations like that, but not every situation There's different types of situations of church discipline and first Corinthians 5 is one specifically for sins that are at the local church it says in verse number four in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ when you're gathered together in my spirit with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ to Deliver such in one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus Your graying is not good Know you not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump and the Bible says if there's a little bit of sin At this church, it's going to leaven the entire lump. Now look obviously as I said nobody is without sin But the Bible gives us specific sins and it says that if it's allowed at the church It could spread as if it's no big deal and what we'd be teaching young children Is that anything is tolerated in the local church But that is not actually what the Bible teaches the Bible actually gives you specific sins that are actually not tolerated in the local church Verse 7 purge out there for the old leaven that you may be a new lump as you're unleavened for even Christ our Passover Sacrificed for us therefore. Let us keep the feast not with old leaven neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness But with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth Then he says in verse 9. He's going to talk more in detail about specific sins. I wrote unto you an epistle not to keep company with fornicators now when it says fornicator here what fornication is by definition is when unmarried people are Physically intimately involved together, you know sexually involved together Unmarried people but what I believe is that fornication is like for under the it's it's this umbrella of sexual sin Where fornication is the smallest sexual sin that would get you removed from church and obviously there's things that are worse than fornication So any sexual sin that is worse than fornication would also apply, right? She really sins like adultery bestiality Homosexuality, I mean sexual sins that are more grievous, but let's say for example, you know If somebody's addicted to pornography that is obviously a major sin But that is not fornication Right. And so that would not be something somebody would be kicked out of church for unless they were actually bringing that in church And then yes that they would get kicked out for that, right? That would be ridiculous I actually heard of that recently at a new IFB church in the US someone caught watching pornography at church It's like well, that's pretty major Right. I mean if you got an addiction, it's like that doesn't get you kicked out, but if you actually bring it in church That's different, right? So, but what the Bible says is fornication but pretty much any sexual sin that would be worse than that would also fit, right? Then it says in verse number 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world or with the covetous or extortioners with idolaters For then must you needs go out of this world go out of the world So Bible says, you know, I'm telling you not to keep company with someone that is a fornicator But I'm not saying that you know what you have to avoid every single person That's guilty of fornication covetousness extortioners or idolaters in the entire world for then must he needs go out of the world Right in the Philippines by statistics the majority of children in the Philippines are born out of wedlock so obviously this is a very common thing in the Philippines and in many countries and You know, obviously fornication is a very common thing in the Philippines and look whatever's happened in the past the past You know, I'm not criticizing you for the past But we want to teach our children not to make mistakes that we made growing up, right? We want to teach kids these things are not acceptable don't commit these sins It's going to destroy your life, but you'd have to go out of the world to completely avoid everybody guilty of these sins So very second. I'm so convicted by this sermon. I'm never going to be around any anybody like this ever so Never go to Robinson's never go to the Plank Day. Never go to any restaurant Because I promise you if you're around 20 plus people you're gonna have probably several people that are guilty of many of these sins You must needs go out of the world So what the Bible is saying is hey, you don't have to feel guilty Like you work a job with a bunch of people that are guilty about it, man I feel like my conscience is convicted like I'm sinning, you know For example many people have told me many people at our church here and in Pampanga in the past have said they worked at call Centers what I understand there are a lot of homos that work at call centers like a very high percentage Well, does that mean you have to quit your job because you're accompanying with those that are LGBT? Well, no, you must needs go out of the world to completely avoid Every single sin that's under here in 1st Corinthians 5 what the Bible is saying is you're a local church and there are certain sins That are not acceptable at the local church and it mentions here in verse 10 Fornication, covetousness, extortioners, idolaters, for then must he needs go out of the world You say Brother Stuckey, you know, how do we know when to accept people when not to okay Well, the Bible gives us more information on this look at what it says in verse 11 But now I've written on you not to keep company notice this if any man that is called a brother This is very important Because here's the thing if somebody visits our church for the first time nobody knows their name if They visit for ten times. Nobody knows their name to be honest, right? Just a few people but when they're at a church for a time period eventually, what do you call them brother? Stuckey brother Ronald brother Franklin right you call them brother so-and-so or sister so and so it's just like the way you call them in the local church You don't have to but that's usually a sign of respect and that's generally what you do They get to be the point where you consider them your brother in Christ your sister in Christ your church family, right? They're part of the body at a point now The Bible doesn't give us an exact line whether it's you know One month or two months and look different churches can look at this a little bit differently. It can be a bit of a gray area It's not a perfect two plus three equals five situation But the idea is eventually someone gets to the point where their brother so and so or sister so and so now Go to Revelation chapter 2 Revelation 2 Revelation 2 Because people could ask this question, okay. Well, there's certain sins that are not acceptable What if you go out so winning today? And one of the things that's gonna be mentioned We're gonna go back there in a second is being a drunkard lasting arrow, right? you say what if we go out so winning and we meet a drunkard out so winning and We get him saved while he's sober because nobody gets saved while they're drunk You say they're saying I got him say but they're a drunkard Should I invite him to church? Yes, you say what because they're not known as brother so-and-so yet They're not known as sister so-and-so so-and-so yet You're not gonna do or a man and a woman living together that are not married and they get saved You say what do you do? Do you tell them about why their sin is not acceptable? No, no, you invite him to church But you can't expect somebody who just got saved now to have their entire life cleaned up Right, you can give them a chance to hear the preaching, you know And then eventually now here's the thing if you invite somebody out so winning and they come to church that is in that situation You should let me know about that privately and not tell other people about it and The reason why is not that I won't let them come back because they're gonna get a chance and we're gonna see that in Revelation But I should be aware of that, you know that they're in that situation You say why do they get a chance instead of having to get it right immediately? Well, and that's what it says in Revelation 2 verse 20 Revelation 2 verse 20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee because thou sufferest which is an old-fashioned muckaloomong way to say allowest That woman Jezebel which called herself her prophetess To teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication and to eat things sacrificed unto idols now It's just my opinion, but I don't think this woman's name is actually Jezebel. I think that's just kind of a An endearing term that God is giving for this woman It's like Jezebel right to basically describe that she's you know, very guilty of a lot of major things right, but he says, you know, this woman is Teaching and Seducing my servants to commit fornication. Is that a small sin or a big sin? It's a pretty big sin Right. I mean, it's not just committing fornication. She's trying to get other people to commit fornication That's a big sin, right and it says she's teaching them to eat things sacrificed unto idols Once again, that's a very major thing as well, right? She she has very major sins and you know, of course the first reaction is get this woman out of here But notice what it says in verse number 21 and I gave her space to repent of her fornication and she repented not now space means time And what it's saying is this woman has a time period where she gets to get this sin, right and either Get it right or get out now. You say what is the time frame? Well, it doesn't give us an exact time frame and Churches can see this differently, you know, I've known various pastors that you know What they they give a very short leash and other pastors that give more time period you say what's the exact amount of time? Well, you know honestly it's situation by situation because for example, somebody might start coming to church but just from time to time and Technically they've been around for three months, but they've been to three church services That's a little bit different than being at every church service for three months, right? So not every situation is the same But this woman has a space or a time period to get her sin, right? And if not, then she'll get kicked out notice what it says in verse 22 behold. I will cast her into a bed and Then that commit adultery with her into great tribulation except they repent of their deeds But it's very major sin and the Bible says she does have a time period to get it right go to 1st Corinthians 5 1st Corinthians 5 And let me just say this that dealing with situations of people getting kicked out is never fun and there's really no way to perfectly do it that everybody's happy about because if And we've had people to church should have been kicked out before obviously and when those situations happen Some people are like man that person should have been kicked out a while ago and some people are like, you know Why don't you give them another chance? It's like well, you know what it just is what it is, right? I mean when you judge cases Unfortunately, not everyone's going to agree with the judgment It is what it is But what I do like about the Bible is God says what's bound in earth is bound in heaven and he says I will stand by The judgment that you make in a specific situation and you know what obviously God understands These are not easy situations to deal with because a lot of these are kind of gray area now Fornication is not such a gray area, but a lot of these are because notice what it says in verse 11 But now I've written on do not to keep company if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator or a covetous now We know what covetous is but here's the thing all of us have some level of degree of covetousness from time to time Not all of us are Fornicators, but when it comes to cover just all of us are at some level of sometimes we give me covetous and so Obviously different churches can deal with these things differently some might be you know more strict and some might be more lenient and these are not very easy things to deal with because obviously Covered just what I would say is generally I would call somebody covetous if they always talk about money You're going so winning and all they talk about is money money money money Everything they talk about is just money money money money money. That's all the time. Another thing it mentions is or an idolatry Well, look if we get a Catholic saved today and they come to church next week. They probably still have idols in their house And If they start coming to church regularly They're gonna get space To get that sin right and everything if it's something that I'm aware of and other people are not aware of I will talk to That person privately and just let them know like hey, you know, this is something that you got to get right now The way I look at this is some people come to church and they have pre-existing Situations for example Catholics often have a lot of idolatry That's a little bit different than someone who's been in our church from day one And been here for four years and then we still see you pulling out the rosary beads, you know, like Every lunchtime and praying to them or whatever. That's a different situation. I mean if somebody got saved last week It's like we need to give them a little bit of grace and realize they're still learning And Lord willing if they stay at our church for several months They'll probably start to feel foolish about some of the traditions are doing that are completely wrong or whatever So idolatry is one that is mentioned then it mentions Railer and railer is like lying about people and once again I believe this is kind of like an umbrella where basically major sins of the tongue can be associated with this whether it be gossiping Lying about others. I mean these sorts of things kind of tie together and these are things that exist at churches all over the world Right, they're definitely things I mean where people will be guilty of railing and something we've dealt with at our church Why would it talk to people individually and said hey you made an accusation against someone it turned out not to be true And they're like, yeah, I guess I was wrong. It's like well, you got to get that right You gotta let every single person know that believe what you said that what you said wasn't true Right because if there's major things that you know, like railing where you're lying about people it can destroy somebody's reputation Right. So railing is one that's mentioned. It also says drunkard and Look a lot of people in this world drink alcohol from time to time and drinking one beer per week Does not make you la cinero or drunkard. It does make you a sinner Because I preach against alcohol But here's the thing, you know, I'm just drinking from time to time does not make you a drunkard Right. And so look if somebody drinks from time to time look I preach against that sin, but you know what it's it's between them And God I promise you At our church and I'm not aware of this of people at our church I promise you there's people at our church that drink alcohol from time to time I wish that were not the case, but I'm sure it is Right, you know and you know, hopefully it's not a common thing because obviously that's a major sin something I've preached against many times But here's the thing if somebody drinks from time to time That is a little bit different than waking up in your own vomit you say better study That's very disgusting to think about. Yeah, it's a disgusting sin to do right at least a lot of disgusting, you know results But if somebody drinks from time to time, they don't get kicked out for that, right? Then it says extortion or an extortion is like stealing money by force or by guilt And so yeah, there's all these things that are mentioned and here's the thing if we allow major sins at our church And it becomes a common knowledge The result is people think it's accepted and what it means is we're not blameless as a church What we're talking about is how to be blameless as a local New Testament church Which should be our goal that we don't have major problems at our church Then it says in verse number 12 for whatever to do to judge them that also without Do not you judge them that are within meaning within the local church, but then they're without God judge Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked persons what the Bible says is with church discipline if someone gets removed from church You know what? God's the one who deals with it, right? I mean it's outside of our control then but situations in the church about says yes You ought to judge those situations if there are major problems now look as I said I'm long-suffering if anybody gets kicked out of church because I don't enjoy kicking people out of church and In most ways I agree with the idea churches like a hospital where we all have our problems and it takes time to grow But it can come to the point where things must be removed from the local church now turn your Bible to Matthew 19 Matthew 19 Another story to think about is the sin of Achan, right? Well, basically there's a major sin, but Joshua is not aware of it And when it comes to his knowledge He realized the whole congregation is being cursed because of that sin And so I'm never happy to hear about you know major sins existing at our church But I'm I'd rather know about something if it does exist because God expects us to deal with it And you know Lord willing that person can get that sin right now some people might ask the question well brother Stuckey you said That people can have these sins and still visit church. Why do you not let homosexuals come to your church? Here's the thing somebody who's guilty of fornication can get that right they can just quit fornicating Someone getting an adultery can get that right someone that's a drunkard can get that right someone. That's a homo They can't get it right You say right because just as the Bible teaches one saved always say the Bible also teaches once a homo Always a homo Well, this is what you call a local New Testament church in 2022 That's what the Bible teaches I mean last I checked Sodom and Gomorrah is still mentioned in the Word of God Genesis 19 Judges 19 is still there and look I understand for some of you Maybe you know if you've never heard our preaching that might seem extreme, and it's like you know what I don't have time to explain Genesis 19 to does 19 I would just encourage you to read it What I would say is for those that think that's extreme you've never read Genesis 19 You've never read Judges 19 and this place is going to be a safe place for the children of this church And it's not going to be a safe place When you have sexual perverts that are running around and here's the thing someone guilty of fornication can get it right The Bible teaches that someone who?
