To God be the glory, great things He had done. O loves He, the world that He gave us, His Son, who yielded His life and atoned Him for sin, and opened the life gate that all may go in. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear His voice. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice. Come to the Father through Jesus the Son, who can give Him the glory, great things He had done. O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, to every believer the promise of God, the vilest offender who truly believes. That moment from Jesus a pardon receives. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear His voice. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice. Come to the Father through Jesus the Son, and give Him the glory, great things He had done. Sing it out on the last. Great things He had taught us, great things He had done. And great are rejoicing through Jesus the Son, but fewer and higher and greater will be our wonder, our transport when Jesus is born. One last time. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear His voice. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice. Come to the Father through Jesus the Son, and give Him the glory, great things He had done. Amen. Amen. All right, well let's go in and take our bulletins. We'll look at some announcements real quickly. I'm not sure we have any bulletins back there. Do we have a few? If you did not receive a bulletin, if you need a bulletin, you can go ahead and raise your hand and we'll get one for you. If you need a bulletin, just put your hand up and we will get one for you. And if you open up your bulletin there, of course, we are glad that you are with us here on Friday for the second evening service of the Red Hot Preaching Conference. And this morning, we had a great time in the morning service. Of course, we had a very nice pastor's luncheon with all the pastors, a good time of fellowship, and it was a good group. Finally, we had 70 soul winners out this afternoon and praise the Lord for that. And then we had a good group for the teen activity and had a good time with that. Tonight, we've got Pastor Jonathan Shelley from Steadfast Baptist Church who's going to be preaching for us. And we're looking forward to Pastor Shelley's sermon. And then we've got Pastor Steven Anderson from Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tampa, Arizona. He'll be preaching for us as well. So it's going to be a great, great night. I want you to look at some announcements there just to be aware of. First of all, if you are a pastor and you are staying through Sunday through Monday, we just want you to be aware that we have another pastor's luncheon for you. I realize not all of you are staying, but some of you are. And we've got a pastor's luncheon for you on Sunday after the morning service. So just make sure that you make plans for that. We'll take care of lunch for you on Sunday morning. And you should have that information on that card that you received. If you need that information, let our deacon, Brother Oliver, know and he can get that for you. And we would like all of you to be aware that tomorrow morning is our big soul winning rally at 10 a.m. And we will have hundreds of soul winners that will go out tomorrow morning. And we want you to be a part of that. So make sure that you are here at 10 a.m. for our soul winning meeting. And then also tomorrow morning or tomorrow in the afternoon at 3 p.m., we're going to have an ice cream social. We'll go soul winning in the morning at 10 a.m. and then you're on your own for lunch. You figure that out after soul winning, get lunch. But at 3 p.m., we'll have an ice cream social. And that is going to happen on the grass field over on this side of the building, the big grass field we've got on that side of the parking lot. You'll see that there will be canopies set up and chairs out there under the trees and things like that. We'll have a fun time of fellowship. We'll have an ice cream social. We've got all sorts of Baskin-Robbins ice cream. We'll have ladies that will be serving the ice cream. It will be a fun time. We won't just be ice cream. We'll also have games. We'll have corn hole out there. And, of course, we've got the basketball court. We've got a whole field with also we can have soccer balls out there and push balls and kick balls and whatever. We'll have the ping pong table set up in the fellowship hall as well. So just be a time to relax and be able to fellowship and have a good time together. So we want to invite you to be a part of that at 3 p.m. on Saturday. And then also on Sunday, if you stay, again, through the end of the week, on Sunday night after the evening service, Pastor Jones will be preaching for us from Shield of Faith Baptist Church. He'll be preaching on Sunday night. If you stay until the evening service, we're going to have pizza after the evening service. So you won't have to worry about dinner. That will be for everybody. Everybody that's here on Sunday night will have pizza and we'll have that on the front lawn over there. And that will be a good time of fellowship. So we appreciate your help with that. If you're here tonight and you've not been scripturally baptized, we'd love to baptize you. And we've got a beautiful baptistry ready to go to be able to baptize you. So we'll have Brother Shaw back there. He's got the sign that says baptisms. If you need to be baptized, just find him. And you can talk to him at any point during the service. Last night I said that at the end of the, while we're singing the last song, and that, of course, is allowed, but you can go right now and talk to him and let him know. And the more time you give us, the better, because if you're not saved, we'll get you saved and then we'll baptize you. And so we'll do it whatever way it needs to be done. But just if you're here and you need to be baptized, please let us know. We'd love to baptize you. If you look at the back there, I just want you to be aware of a couple things. First of all, we are a family integrated church. Children and infants are always welcome in the service. We do not separate children from their parents for any reason. We do have mother-baby rooms and daddy rooms available for your convenience. All of the rooms have comfortable seating. They have monitors set up or we've got windows set up so you can watch the service. They have speakers so you can hear the service. So if you have a child that's being distracted during the service, if you need some privacy, we would encourage you to use those rooms as needed. We understand that we have two preachers tonight, and if you need to get up during the service and take care of your children or use the restroom or whatever, obviously we'd like you to try to be as little of a distraction as possible, but you're allowed to. You're welcome to get up and use the restroom throughout the service, so just make note of that. And then also we want to continue to just announce that we have a GoFundMe for Pastor Oscar Bogart, who's visiting from South Africa, and he's taken a stand for the word of God. And as a result, he's gone in issues with his government, and he's got some legal problems, and he's got some legal fees. I don't know what it means to have got some lawyer fees that you have to pay as a result of your preaching, and we here in the new IFB, we can identify with him. We can empathize. I can empathize. I know Pastor Shelley can empathize, but Pastor Shelley owes too much, so we have no GoFundMe for him. Pastor Bogart, on the other hand, American dollars go a long way in South Africa, so we'd like to help him. I think I don't have the number in front of me, but what we were trying to raise is $3,612. I announced this last night. We're trying to raise $3,612 for Pastor Bogart to pay his legal fees. Up to this point, we've raised $1,842, and praise the Lord for that, but we've got a little more to go, all right? So if you could help, we'd appreciate it, not just here in the crowd, but if you're watching online, I think we've got, I don't know, 200 people watching online right now, so if you'd like to help with that, you can go on our website, veritybaptist.com. On the homepage, you'll see a picture of Pastor Bogart with a GoFundMe icon. If you click on that, you can give on there. Pastor Bogart is staying through till Wednesday. He's going to be preaching for us the Wednesday after the Red Hot Preaching Conference. If you're staying, we'd love for you to stay for Pastor Bogart, and I sure would love to be able to hand him a check and take care of these legal fees for him, and I think we can. So if you can help us with that, we would appreciate that. And just to give you, I know some of you are curious, I'm going to give you some stats up to date. For Thursday, we had 66 Soul Wonders out. Last night, we had 429 in church, and we had 339 watching on livestream. This morning, we had 319 and 178 watching on livestream. We had 71 Soul Wonders out, and we had 21 teens in the youth activity. So those are all good numbers there. Don't forget to turn your cellphones off or place them on silent during the service so that they're not a distraction to anyone. And I think that's it for all of the announcements. We're going to go ahead and sing the chorus. If you find the Friday evening chorus there, we're going to sing How Great Thou Art, and let's go ahead and sing it out. On the first, O Lord my God, on the first, O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder consider all the world I am that may, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, life our throughout, none may lose its way. Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art. Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, how great Thou art, how great Thou art. I think I said this earlier about a different song, but it applies here as well. You can't sing about singing without singing out, all right? So let's go ahead. You're doing a good job, but let's sing it out passionately. On the second, when through the woods and forest glades, I wander and hear the birds sing free like the trees, Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, how great Thou art, how great Thou art. How great Thou art, how great Thou art. Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, how great Thou art, how great Thou art. I'd like you to look down at these words. Look at these words on verse number three. And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in, that on the cross my burdens gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sins. Aren't those powerful words? We're going to sing it out on the third. I'm going to ask the instrumentalists. Let's slow it down. Let's sing it with passion. Let's sing it with purpose. You follow me on the third. And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in, slow it down, that on the cross my burdens gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sins. Sing it out. Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art, When sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art. Good. Let's sing it out on the last. When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation, Then take me home, my voice shall fill my heart. Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art. Good. One last time. Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art. Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art. Amen. Good singing. I think that's how the singing is going to be in heaven. Amen? And I'll tell you, these liberal churches, they can keep their liberal garbage. And you can't sing like that. You can't sing, be a liberal and sing like that. And praise the Lord for that. I do want to make you aware of a couple of things. We're going to take our offering here in a moment. But I do want you to be aware of this communication card in your bulletin. We'd love for you to take a moment to fill it out. Specifically, the back here, we've got an email list called the Band But Not Bound email list. And this is a list we started when we kept getting shut down on social media and banned off of different platforms. And this is a list that allows us to stay connected to you. And on this list, we give out, of course, the content of our church here at Verity Baptist Church. But also, all of the controversial sermons that aren't allowed on social media, we give them out on this email list. And we'd love for you to sign up if you've not yet signed up. We've got 4,456 emails or something like that on this list. And if you're not on it, we want you to be on it. So please take a moment to fill the card out. If you aren't getting our Band But Not Bound emails, make sure you write your name and your email address on this communication card and we'll get you signed up. If you're watching online, you can do it by just going on our website, hitting that Band But Not Bound link. And you can fill out a form there on the website as well. And of course, if you're watching on Rumble, we want to encourage you to support us there. Make sure you subscribe to our Rumble account and help us with that. We would appreciate the help in that regard. Well, at this time, we'll go ahead and have the guys come up and help us with the offering at this time. And let's go ahead and bow our heads and have a word of prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, Lord, we do love you. Lord, I thank you for this group that has gathered here tonight. And what it represents, the fact that fundamentalism is well and alive, it's exciting. Lord, I thank you for that. Lord, I pray that you'd bless the offering, the gift and the giver. We pray that you'd bless the special offertory. And Lord, we do pray that you would anoint these preachers tonight with a special unction of your spirit. Help them to preach with power and boldness. Speak to us through your word. In the matchless name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Please open up to Psalm 19. Psalm 19, if you do not have a Bible, please raise your hand and I know you can read your Bible. Psalm 19, just keep your hand up, not sure it'll come by. Psalm 19, Psalm 19, beginning in verse number 1. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament showeth his handiwork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it, and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than fine gold, yea, than much fine gold. Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is thy servant warned, and in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over me. Then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for this evening. I thank you for this conference. I ask that you please meet with us tonight. I ask that you be with Pastor Shelley. Please strengthen him and fill him with your spirit. We love you. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen. It's a great honor and privilege to be here with you guys, and what a magnificent sanctuary. Praise God for this building. And, you know, I see a lot of familiar faces, and I've seen some new faces, but where are those 600 sodomites? You know, it's nice to be on the winning side, amen? It seems like, I feel like I'm an Old Testament Israelite, where once a year I get to make my pilgrimage to Jerusalem here. And what I really love about Verity Baptist Church is how it just gets better every year somehow. It's just so amazing. This pulpit's amazing. This building is incredible. A lot of potential. And, you know, thank you so much to Pastor Jimenez and his family for hosting this. Thank you so much to all the staff who really do a lot of work here. It's obvious. All the volunteers. And in fact, of course, the Verity Church family, thank you for hosting such an incredible conference. And it truly is a testimony because so many people travel all over to come here to hear the preaching and to experience, in many ways, a life-changing conference. And I just wanted to give an idea. Who is not from Verity Baptist Church but is here tonight? Look at that. Look at that. Wow. Wow. You know, and that tells me that, you know, maybe if you're already here, if you're part of Verity Baptist Church, it may be hard to realize how good you really have it here. I mean, this is an amazing church. You have an amazing pastor, amazing people here. If you live anywhere in this area, you've got to be in Verity Baptist Church. Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night. And, you know, if you have Verity Baptist Church, I'm going to do a quick visit to my last year's sermon, Don't Complain. All right? But tonight, I'm not preaching that at all. So, I want to look at verse number nine. The Bible says this, The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. Now, the Bible says here in verse nine at the beginning, the fear of the Lord is clean. Of course, cleanliness is a multifaceted word. I would argue that what the Bible is primarily talking about here is a morally uncontaminated, a pure, an innocent definition here of clean, in a spiritual context. That the fear of the Lord is going to produce a morally pure cleanliness. It's going to purify you. It's going to cleanse you. But not only should we concern ourselves with the spiritual, sometimes we also need to concern ourselves with the physical. And they actually work together in unison. Go, if you would, to Matthew chapter 23 for just a moment. Go to Matthew chapter number 23, and I want to look at another verse here. Of course, the spiritual is what we have to prioritize. It's what we put first. But God doesn't only care about the spiritual. He also cares about the physical. In Matthew 23, I want to look at verse number 26. The Bible says, Cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Of course, the Pharisees weren't even saved. So, they were so concerned with following the commandments and holding to their traditions, even above the commandments. But they weren't even saved. They didn't even have salvation. They didn't even have the basics. And so Christ wanted them to first just get saved, which is a picture here of cleansing that which is on the inside, getting right with God in their heart, getting saved, and working on the spiritual condition of themselves. But then notice, if you do that, if you do cleanse yourself spiritually in this way, He also wants something else in this latter portion, that the outside of them may be clean also. So, God also cares about the outside. It's just not the first thing. It's a later thing. Now, I want you to go, if you went to Deuteronomy 23. Now, before I kind of get into my sermon and even give you the title, I want to say, first of all, I love all of you. I'm not mad at anybody. I'm very glad that you're here. And a lot of times, what I try to do when I come and visit is I preach a sermon where I kind of think, like, what would I really want my church to hear? Like, what are issues going on over there? But this year, it's not like that. It's not really pointed at any person. It's not pointed at any individual. Of course, if you ask me after the sermon, you say, was this sermon about me? I will say yes. But, you know, the motivation for my sermon came from another place. And the title of my sermon is this, Gross People. Gross People. And I'll tell you where the motivation came. It did come from Texas. It came from a little place called Walmart. All right? Now, I don't know if this was you or not, but about 10 years ago, there used to be this thing, especially before social media was so big, where people would send these e-mail chains. And they would, like, forward these e-mails. And I was on one of these chains. And you would get these e-mails called Walmartians. Who knows what I'm talking about? All right, I see the hand. God bless the hand. All right? Walmartians, where people would take pictures of the weirdest things at Walmart and they would, like, e-mail them out and show everybody. Well, I went to Walmart this week and it was gross. It was just gross. And it's just sad that our nation has become so gross. I saw someone else posting online. They said, I can't stand the fact that when I go to Walmart, I feel like I've been imported into a third world country. And here's the thing, I don't hate people in third world countries, but I don't want to live there. I don't want to be like that. And, you know, as God's people, we don't want to become Walmartians, okay? We want to stay clean and we want to stay pleasant. Now, to help you understand what I mean by gross, I looked it up in the dictionary and I got a lot of synonyms here. I want to read a lot of synonyms for you to give you an idea of what I'm talking about when I say something that is gross. Causing disgust. That is gross. Extremely unpleasant. Extremely fat and ugly. Very big or fat. Unseemly. Now, those are all dictionary definitions. Here are synonyms. Defiled. Unclean. Abhorrent. Awful. Sickening. Crude. Vomit inducing. I was physically upset after going to Walmart. I'm just being honest with you. It really kind of almost caused a gag reflex in me a little bit. Unsettling. Obscene. Raunchy. Scatological. Sorry, we're going to explore that definition tonight, so you probably don't want to eat. Ugly. Uncouth. Rank. Stinking. Foul. Unpleasant. Disgusting. Nauseating. Revolting. Tainted. Repulsive. Smelly. Noisome. Abominable. Nasty. Odious. Vile. That's what I'm talking about when I'm talking about something that's gross. And all of those words applied this week. Now, I want to look at Deuteronomy chapter 23, and I want to show you that God cares about physical cleanliness. Look at verse 12. Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad. And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon, and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee. For the Lord thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee. Therefore shall thy camp be holy, that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee. So according to the Bible, God wants to walk up and down the streets of the children of Israel, and if he were to see an unclean thing, it could cause him to want to turn away. And I felt like when I was in Walmart, God didn't want to walk through those aisles. I feel like if God were to visit San Francisco today, he wouldn't want to walk up and down those streets because he wouldn't want to step in all the dung that they have on the streets. And you know, it's sad that America is becoming so gross. And you know why something is gross? Because it doesn't fear God. The fear of the Lord is clean. The more you understand God's commandments, the more you care about what God thinks, the more clean you're going to be spiritually and physically. False religion produces gross people. Now I want to talk about three groups tonight. Group number one are those who are temporarily gross. They're temporarily gross, meaning it's fixable. All right? You can fix it. So if you find yourself in this group this evening, I'm not mad at you, I just want you to fix it, okay? But go to Exodus chapter 29. What is something that's gross? Well, something that's gross to me is something that smells bad. And again, from a temporary perspective, what you need to do, take a shower, put on some deodorant, clean yourself, wash yourself, use some soap. Just do something, okay? And there's so many people today, they don't smell very good. You young single guys, you want to attract a young lady, smell good. Don't smell bad. It's a big turn off. Now, I'm not going to read this for you, but in Song of Solomon, he says this, I rose up to open my beloved and my hands dropped with myrrh and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh. But they talk about it being a pleasant smell when they're into each other. And that is something you should consider, having a pleasant smell. Here's another thing, Exodus chapter 29, look at verse 4. And Aaron and his sons, thou shalt bring unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shalt wash them with water. Now, I'm not going to go through all the Old Testament for you, but the Old Testament is just filled with all kinds of different commandments, talking about the necessity of washing. And even Jesus Christ said, when thou fastest, anoint thy head and wash thy face. Jesus Christ is telling you to wash yourself, to keep up with hygiene. We have in the Old Testament a lot of practices that result around the ideas of hygiene and keeping yourself clean. False religions don't do this. Probably the worst, in fact, I'm just going to say it, the worst is Hindus. Hindus are gross. And look, I'm not mad at Indian people. I don't hate Indian people. But Hinduism is gross. Let me read for you from an article talking about a Hindu celebration. Dozens of exuberant villagers scooped up handfuls of cow dung to mold and toss at each other like snowballs this week. For the Gorhaba festival, which is a local conclusion to India's most important festival, Diwali. It should be called disgusting. They're playing in cow poo. That's gross. Hopefully you've never seen this, but if you've accidentally seen this, it hurts. It hurts the eyes, it hurts the heart. Here's another title, Indian village marks end of Diwali with massive cow poo fight. It gets worse in this article. It says this, members of Mr. Modi's party have touted the use of cow urine to prevent and cure COVID-19. That almost makes the vaccine sound good. And I'm not recommending the vaccine, okay? Don't get it. It says this, his government is also looking to encourage the production of toothpaste, shampoos, mosquito repellents from bovine waste. Ugh. Brother, ugh. What's this? What's this my brother? It's like, are you kidding me? Toothpaste from cow dung? Like how disgusting of a religion can you possibly have? It's filthy. This is like the devil mocking these people and ridiculing these people and making these people look dumb on purpose. It's gross. Not only that, but if God obviously saw that, he'd walk away. But, you know, sometimes even just you open the door in an apartment and that curry smell hits you. And I'm just going to be honest with you, I want to walk away. And look, I'm not mad at Indian people, but I'm just telling you it makes me not want to stand there and give them the gospel because it's gross. It smells bad. In fact, there's an article on Buzzfeed that says this, quote, you smell like curry. We don't want the customers to complain. Therefore, this person did not get the job interview. And they were complaining about it. They were saying, well, I don't know what curry smells like. It smells like you. Now, I found just this so you don't get mad at me is all that's your opinion. Well, I got an opinion from an Indian. OK, so I just found somebody online was talking about it. He says this Indian food is smelly. Amen. I'm an Indian, however, and I do not smell. It is not because I eat American food or any other food I could get home and eat Indian food with all the spices you could name. However, I applied deodorant, which many Indian people do not. And even if they did, they would use the, quote, spray on deodorant instead of the normal rolling deodorant, which evaporates in a couple hours. And boom, worst smell you could think of. That was an Indian telling you his opinion. I just happen to agree with it. He says this eating food stuffed with spices is no excuse for that smell to come out at work and distract other people or stink up any place you go. Quote, being aware is what matters. And many people, Indians and others, just plainly lack. So this guy says, you know what the problem is? No one's just telling them that they stink. Well, here you go. You stink. Now, look, it's a temporary situation that you can fix. And, you know, it doesn't matter if you eat other kinds of food. If you don't bathe, it smells bad. You know, I know that. Go to Six Flags. Go to any amusement park during the summer and stand in line and you'll recognize a lot of those people did not shower for a long time. And it smells bad. Even if you're eating chicken wings, you can still smell bad, okay? It's not necessarily the food. And that was the guy's point. The guy's point was if you're eating a lot of spicy and exotic foods and you don't shower, it's just going to be even that much worse. So you should be careful and you should make sure to what? Bathe yourself, wash yourself, have hygiene so that you don't stink. Because when you're gross, it affects how people treat you. It makes things unpleasant. People don't want to be around you. Go to 1 Peter chapter 3. Go to 1 Peter chapter 3. Now, again, this is not my opinion. I just simply went online and I said, Well, what is the worst smelling country? And the top article says 25 worst smelling countries in the world. And I looked through the list and it was pretty much just name an African country, okay? And the way the list went is you kind of had to like click next every single time. So, I mean, it's just like African country after African country after African country after African country after African country. So I'm at the last one. I'm like, Don't disappoint. And I click, India, you win again. It says this, waste and urine odors, as well as the rich fragrances of spices and incense are common. A traveler's description of India implied that, quote, Indians lack a sense of cleanliness and hygiene. Look, it's just pretty much an observable fact that India stinks. And it's not because of Indians. It's because of Hinduism. It's because of false religion. It's because they don't fear the God of the Bible. It's because they worship cows, literally. It's because they bathe in the dung of cows. It's because they just use the bathroom on the streets everywhere and they don't cover it. And so it just smells like filth. And of course America can go the same way if we reject God, if we reject His commandments, if we don't fear the Lord. But you know what? The fear of the Lord is clean. And I would like to have a clean country. I would like to have a clean church to go to. I would like to have a clean family. I would like to have a clean house to come home to. And you know what these people need to do if they smell bad? Take a bath. You know, we Baptists, you get an extra benefit when you get baptized, you got a little cleaner. Now that wasn't the goal of Baptism. But notice what the Bible says, 1 Peter chapter 3 verse 21. The like figure, wherein to even Baptism to also now save us. Not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He's saying, look, the point of Baptism wasn't to clean yourself, albeit that's a good reason to get baptized. But the reason to get baptized is because you'd put your faith in Jesus Christ. But you know what? After you got saved, a lot of you need to get baptized again to get the filth of the flesh off of you. To actually clean yourself up a little bit and actually smell good again. We need regular cleansing, regular washing. We don't want to be the smelly church. You don't want to sit, I mean if you sat down next to somebody and they smell bad, you would move. You wouldn't want to do that. You would be complaining. It's not a good look. It doesn't help anything and of course we need to make sure that we're not doing this. Go to 1 Samuel 2. False religion produces gross behaviors which make for gross people. The right religion, although it is the right religion, can still produce bad results though with false prophets or people that simply disregard certain commandments. And of course being smelly is not the only thing that's gross. There's a lot of gross things out there. Now the one I'm going to bring up next is a little bit different but it seems like a lot of old IFB churches probably wouldn't like the next point that I'm going to make. But you know what? There's something that's gross and I want to show you a few verses on this. Look at 1 Samuel 2 verse 29. Hophni and Phinehas were false prophets. They were sons of Belial and they would siphon off all of the sacrifices before they were supposed to be eaten. They wouldn't allow all the fat to be cooked off of the meat and they were just consuming large portions of fat and meat and notice what the Bible says? They themselves became fat. And in fact it got so bad that the Bible says that the children of Israel abhorred the offering of the Lord. It was just gross to them. It was disgusting to them. Of course Hophni and Phinehas have a lot of problems. Not just one here. Don't hear me wrong. But being fat is one of them and it was a negative thing. Now look at chapter 3 for a second and look at verse 13. The Bible also had said in 1 Samuel chapter number 4 about their father Eli. For he was an old man and heavy. So the father was heavy. The sons are making themselves fat. The Bible says in 1 Samuel chapter number 3 verse 13. The sons made themselves vile and he restrained them not. Notice his sons were vile. They were vile for being sons of Belial. They were vile for laying with the women assembled at the door. But let me explain this. They were also vile because they were fat and that was just gross. And they wouldn't burn the sacrifice. People really disliked it and it's just not a good look. Especially back then when food is not nearly as plenteous as it is today. For someone to have been gorging themselves in that specific manner would have been a rarity. Offered only to the rich, elite, priests and those type of things. And so it just really made them feel bad because they're like looking at these men saying, wow they're just so self-indulgent. Just feeding themselves while we don't have as much. While we are starving in some cases perhaps or while we don't have this opportunity. And they're supposed to be serving God but they're just serving their own belly. And being severely overweight, being severely obese is a major problem in America. According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases or the NIH, it says more than 2 in 5 adults have obesity. It says 42.4% of America is experiencing obesity. 1 in 11 adults have severe obesity. It's almost 10% of our entire country. And if you look at this from a historical perspective, in 1975 only 13% of America was obese. By 2016 it was 37% and what I just read for you is it's now at 42%. So it's been increasing steadily for a very long time. Our nation has become more degenerate. It's not fearing God as much anymore and it's increased in fattening foods and the abundance of idolists. It sounds like the sins of Sodom. Now, what is severe obesity? It's where you have a body mass index of 40 or higher. It says that being 100 pounds overweight for men or 80 pounds overweight for women is how it's defined. And here's the thing and why this is not necessarily just something you shouldn't do, but it's unhealthy for you because it poses a lot of risks. According to online it says risks from being overweight include type 2 diabetes, gallstones, high blood pressure, fatty liver, heart disease, cancer, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, high cholesterol, stroke, metabolic syndromes, breathing problems, depression, kidney disease, pregnancy issues, gout and joint pain. And that's just a list of several, but it's maybe not even fully inclusive. And I don't want people to suffer from those type of things. If you read an interesting book, some will call it fiction, it's called The Elders of the Protocols of Zion. There's a conspiracy to actually keep goi or gentiles weak by having them be overweight and dependent physically and being soft. Seems like something that you wouldn't want to be. Seems like there's probably a negative consequence of that. While you can find that information, our culture in large is kind of shying away from this topic. I feel like a lot of Baptist preachers are avoiding this topic because they're more concerned with biscuits and gravy. They're more concerned with preaching about red tops, with preaching about fried chicken and all the fixings. And look, Baptists know how to eat. You know why? Because Baptists have great food. I mean, if you've ever been to a Baptist feast, you can eat a lot. I mean, there's so much good food, especially where I'm from in Texas, where we make some of the best brisket. We have some of the greatest Tex-Mex. I mean, the food in Texas is off the chain, folks. It's amazing. I get it. You go to In-N-Out. They have two items on the menu, and 50% of them suck. So you don't know what it's like. But in Texas, everything's good, even the fries. It's because they cook them and put seasoning on them. Sorry for all you In-N-Out guys. I know this is hard preaching. But our culture doesn't agree with this. In fact, they don't even like anything I just said. According to CNN, this is an article from CNN. It says, fat shaming by doctors, family, classmates is a global health problem. So being overweight and obese is not a problem. Telling people that they're obese, that's the problem. That's CNN. I wonder who runs CNN. According to Medical News Today, it says effects of fat shaming on mental and physical health. According to Healthline, the harmful effects of fat shaming. According to NIH, fat shaming is making people sicker and heavier. I mean, pretty much every article is just saying, like, don't tell anybody this is bad. Go to Proverbs 23 if you would. But, you know, Ecclesiastes says this is better to hear the rebuke of the wise than for a man to hear the song of fools. Our culture is praising plus-sized models today. But it's gross. And it's weird how we see so many severely obese women wearing almost no clothes. It's like the spandex is holding on for dear life. And you're just like, please stay on. Please! I mean, look, women dressing like whores is a big problem in America. But when they're that overweight, it's not, I'm like, ah! I mean, look, if you're severely obese, put some clothes on, please. And look, when I was in Walmart, it was just so gross. It was just, everyone there was just so smelly and just so obese and just disgusting. And it just, it made me want to just vomit. And I don't want to be, I don't want to go back to Walmart. Unless they fix it, okay? You know, I don't think that you have to be an anorexic model like Kate Moss, who you can't even see when she turns to the side, okay? You don't have to be these rail-thin Hollywood celebrities that don't eat and throw up on themselves. But, you know, being healthy is always what's the most attractive. Just being healthy. We should all strive to be healthy. And that's what always looks the best. You know, not being severely underweight or overweight, but trying to find that balance of being healthy. And women are supposed to have a healthy amount of fat on their body. It helps them with their pregnancies, it helps them in just every area of their life. So, you know, we don't want to have a weird perverted mentality, but we also want to have the right idea from the scripture. And the Bible does talk about this subject. Look at verse number 20 here. Be not among winebibbers, among riotous eaters of flesh. For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty, and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags. Here's another downside of being severely overweight, is it makes you lazy. It just makes you more slothful, it just makes you slower, it makes you more sedentary by nature. And that's just a negative thing. You know, the Bible says to redeem the time because the days are evil. We need to be doing more for the Lord. And I hope to serve God even when I'm older. You know, I am really encouraged to see, you know, the white hairs in here who are able to go out there and go soul winning. You know, what a great testimony to see people that are older in age still going out there preaching the gospel. You know what? God bless them. Unfortunately, you know, in Deuteronomy the Bible talks about the stubborn, rebellious son, that he's a glutton. Deuteronomy 2, you know, it talks about him being lazy, not working, not obeying. I actually watched a video, and there's a lot of these, unfortunately, but I watched a video about a man that was very severely overweight. He weighed 540 pounds. He wore an 8XL shirt. And he decided to lose the weight. And here's another consequence of being so severely obese. He lost over 300 pounds. He dropped down to 230 pounds. But then he had 13 pounds of excess skin on his body. And it just looked gross. And for a lot of those people, they're embarrassed about the excess skin too. And it's another negative consequence of having even gone down that particular road and getting that surgery to remove that skin, which I would never fault someone for doing that. I would do it. But it costs like $15,000. And so there are consequences to disregarding these things and just being a riotous eater of flesh and just becoming a glutton. And it just spirals out of control. No one wants to be 540 pounds. It starts somewhere. And what we should try to do is if we notice ourselves drifting, we should try to bring ourselves back. There was a point in time where I was very dissatisfied with my weight as well. Because I was just programming, and I worked for this company where they brought in every snack you could think of for free. Just unlimited M&Ms, pretzels, they're bringing in donuts, they're bringing in Einstein Brothers bagels, which I'm a sucker for. I like all of them. Especially with that almond butter. It sounds so good right now. But it's just like, I mean, if you're not doing anything and there's just treats in front of you all day, it's really easy to just eat and eat and eat and just, you know, never stop. And eating is fun. I love eating. It tastes good. Of course, we live in America. I can see why in India they're all skinny, because the food is terrible. It's like, have you ever met a fat Indian? It's like one of the rarest things ever. Okay. Go go to Proverbs 20. But I'm just trying to warn you that here's the reality. Well, I don't think we should just be mean to people. I don't think we should treat them badly. And I still love people that are in these categories. I think it's still important to bring this up to try and help them, to try and love them and encourage them to make a change, a change that's positive for them and for their lives. And the Bible was clear to not even be around those type of people. But when you get this way, you can become very lazy. Now, you don't have to be fat to be lazy. There's plenty of skinny people that are lazy too. But it's gross. Look at Proverbs 20 verse 4. The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold. Therefore shall he beg and harvest and have nothing. Go to Ecclesiastes chapter number 10. Ecclesiastes chapter number 10. You know, being lazy is something that we can evidence when we go soul winning. Because we like to go soul winning in the receptive areas. And the receptive areas are poor. And a lot of the poor people are poor because they're lazy. And so when you go out soul winning, you see the consequences of being lazy. And I've seen all kinds of really weird stuff out soul winning. I mean, steps are broken. That's pretty common. Especially in the apartment complexes. Trash just strewn all over. Glass, needles, feces. I remember walking up to a guy's house and he had so many beer cans. It would have been hundreds if not thousands of beer cans. Just literally everywhere. All over the yard. Mold, rot, bugs, decomposing food, animal droppings. I remember going into someone's house. They invited me in. I should have said no. And I remember going into someone's house. I couldn't see the carpet. I didn't know what I was stepping on. I didn't really want to look hard enough. But I didn't know what the carpet looked like. And it was gross. And it's like, how does that happen? By being lazy. By being slothful. And lazy people become very gross. Theos, theos, chapter 10, look at verse 17. Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles and thy princes eat in due season, for strength and not for drunkenness, by much slothfulness the building decayeth and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through. So notice, connecting a couple dots here, we should be eating for strength, not for pleasure. Because if you're just eating for pleasure, well, you can become the glutton and the glutton then becomes very slothful and through much slothfulness the house could even fall through. And we see dwelling places. There are areas all over America that are falling apart, disintegrating, and it's through much slothfulness, through much laziness. And it's just gross. It's gross to go to cities. It's gross to go to parts of the city that are falling through, that have bugs, that have trash, that have litter, that have the alcohol, that have the feces. You know what? It's not a place you want to go and you don't want to be around those people and unfortunately it's why? Because they don't fear the Lord. They would actually do some work and they would do some work and they could clean up their area a little bit. Go over to 2 Thessalonians chapter 3. Who are the worst of this? Homeless people. Let me explain something. Homeless people are gross. In America. You know, obviously I can't vouch for every other country in the world, but in America homeless people are gross people. And they're often involved in all kinds of things. Drugs, alcohol, disease, filth, littering. They're unkempt. They're hillbillies. They look grungy. They look hippie. They look backwoods. It's gross. And what does the Bible say in 2 Thessalonians chapter 3 verse 10? For even when we were with you this we commanded you neither should he eat. You want to know why there's so many homeless people in America? Because we keep feeding them. Stop feeding them. You're feeding the monster. You're making gross people by giving them money, by giving them drugs, by giving them needles. You know, you should watch this documentary called San Francisco where this guy is screaming about a McDonald's where someone brought in a dead raccoon. It was some homeless guy killed or found a dead raccoon and literally brought it into the McDonald's as if McDonald's doesn't have enough problems. They're bringing in dead raccoons and the guy's screaming about it. And it was gross. It was funny too, but. Go to Isaiah 28. You know, we don't want to contaminate all of our areas in cities with dead things. The Bible talks about when you have dead things and you touch them you're supposed to wash. You're supposed to bury them. We're supposed to keep them away from civilized people. And unfortunately because a lack of the fear of God again because people don't know the commandments, they have no understanding, they do things that are gross. They do things that are disgusting like putting dead animals on the counter. We're supposed to eat. I looked at the Sacramento County's website and they talked about the homeless problem in Sacramento. They said that there are currently or approximately 9,278 people living in Sacramento unhoused. Now that's like a specific night. Just average every night that's how many people are out there. They see throughout a whole year it's about 16 to 20,000 people. I believe Sacramento's around a half or yeah, a half a million in population. So it's around 1.7, almost two out of 100 people are just living on the streets in this area. Which means you're gonna see them really quickly. You're gonna see a lot of them all over. I mean right now in this room we probably have well over 400 people. Based on those statistics we'd have about six homeless people. And again I'm not mad at someone that's homeless but it's gross. People are gross. And look I don't hate homeless people. I went to an addiction and recovery center for over two years and preached to those people, tried to give them the gospel, tried to tell them what the Bible says on a lot of issues. I don't hate them. I didn't hate them then. But let me explain something. They were gross. You better believe I washed my hands and arms real good after I left that place. And it's sad. It's sad that people aren't telling them those things. They're just giving them free meals so they can perpetuate that. And most of the time why are they that way? Because they're drunkards. It's usually because they're drunkards, because they're addicted to alcohol and when people get addicted to alcohol they become gross and they make everything gross around them. Bars are the grossest places. Bars are disgusting. What does it say in Isaiah 28 verse seven? But they also have aired through wine and through strong drink are out of the way. The priest and the prophet have aired through strong drink. They are swallowed up of wine. They are out of the way through strong drink. They air in vision. They stumble in judgment for all tables are full of vomit and filthiness so there is no place clean. Now look, everything I've said so far is temporary. Hey, if you're bathing in poo, take a shower. If you're not bathing, take a shower. Just take a shower. Learn that point. If you're severely obese, try to lose some weight. If you're lazy, get to work. For the sake of time, I'm not going to really go in there, but smoking is also pretty gross. Quit smoking. Just repent. But I also want to warn you, go to Leviticus 19, you can do things, you can make a decision that is going to give you a permanent grossness or it's going to give you a lifetime of grossness. Now praise God that we're going to get a new glorified body. So even if you screw up this body, you get a brand new one later. But you can do some things that will have a lifetime of grossness and one of those is tattoos. Leviticus 19, look at verse 28. You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead nor print any marks upon you, I am the Lord. Another aspect of this cutting your flesh, I think it's pretty similar and of course this may be not necessarily for the dead, but a lot of people in America are doing these weird gauge things where they're cutting holes in their ears and they're putting in these weird gauges or in their nose and they got all these tattoos and it's gross. Face tattoos are gross and that's the thing about how people won't hire them because of all their face tattoos and a lot of times it's a face tattoo of Baphomet and it's like you're shocked someone doesn't want to hire you when you have the devil on your face and look, that's permanent folks. People get these sleeves on their arms, these sleeve tattoos, that's permanent. Tattoos by and large are permanent. It's virtually impossible to get rid of it. And it's gross. Tattoos are gross, I've always thought they were gross and I never want any kid to ever get a tattoo. Now here's the thing, if you have a tattoo, I'm not mad at you. In fact, I hope there's a lot of people in here with tattoos because that means we're reaching people. You know, praise God that we actually have people in church with tattoos because it seems like it's a nom-to-nom but they don't get anybody saved. Hey, I'm glad that somebody that has tattoos came to church tonight but you know what, don't try to tell me it's not gross and don't try to convince the youth that it's cool or look at this really awesome tattoo that I got. You know what I'm going to say? It's gross. Don't get a tattoo. Don't print marks on your body. They look gross and faggoty. Don't ever get one. How about the tramp stamp? It's gross! You whore! And you know what, being a whore is also a permanent grossness. You can never go back. It's like hey, you're dating someone and then you have to admit yeah, well I have a tramp stamp and there's a reason. It's gross. Men want to marry virgins and women want to marry virgins too, you single guys. Being with other people is gross. It's defilement. Marriage is honorable and all and the bed undefiled but whoremongers and adulterers, God will judge! It's gross! Our society promotes fornication and promotes whoredom but you know what, it's gross! Stop promoting it! Stop acting like it's so great! Guys are like oh, I slept with all these women. Gross! Because you know what they're not telling you? About all the STDs they caught. Go over to Deuteronomy 28 for a moment. Let me just read for you. The Bible says about priests, they should not take a wife that is a whore or profane and Jeremiah 3 says and it came to pass through the likeness of her whoredom that she defiled the land meaning she made it gross. Ezekiel 20, thus saith the Lord, God, are you polluted after the manner of your fathers and you commit whoredom after their abominations? Whoredom pollutes the land. You know what, and it's not just a spiritual and a mental defilement that comes with whoredom, it's also a physical defilement through STDs, STIs. The Bible warns about things like this. Look at Deuteronomy 28 verse 27. The Lord will smite thee with a botch of Egypt and with the emirates. I don't know exactly what that is but a lot of people think it's hemorrhoids and you don't want those things. It could even be worse but notice this, and with the scab and with the itch. Notice this phrase, whereof thou canst not be healed. That's a lifetime. Now you know what, praise God that in your new man you're not a whore, you're not a whore anymore. In your new man, if you're a whoremonger, if you're a guy that committed a lot of fornication, you're not in your new man. And in your new glorified body, you won't have all those STDs but let me tell you something, there's a lot of STDs floating around out there. How about chlamydia? In 2022, there was 1.6 million new cases of chlamydia. That's meaning every year. Every year, 1.6 million people are walking to the doctor's office with chlamydia. Now to most of us, we're like, I don't even know what that is, it just sounds bad. But it says this, chlamydia is one of the most common STDs and left untreated can cause infertility and pain in both men and women. What is it? Pain or burning while peeing. Abnormal discharge. I don't even want to know what that is. Other ones, how about herpes? That's pretty common. Here's what herpes causes. Itchy, painful blisters and sores. And it's not on your arm. Swollen glands. Fever. Chills. Aches. Pussing. Oozing. It's gross. How about gonorrhea? Or the clap? Or the drip? There's about 8,000 cases of gonorrhea. This causes pain or burning while peeing. Abnormal discharge. Itching. Swelling. Now actually, there was a chart with it. And this chart was saying how many women, like the percentage of women that can track this. And then it also had cities. So the first one was New York City. It said women. It was about 20% of women in New York City. It's one in five. Of men, it says 10%. But wait, no, it said men who have sex with women only. It was 10%. Then it said men with men, 68%. Now, that's not a lifetime grossness. You know what that is? That's eternal grossness. Go to 2 Peter chapter two. So I have three groups I want to talk to you about this evening. Number one is those that are temporary gross. Fix it. Those that are permanently gross for their lifetime. Their lifetime, they're gross. But you know what? If you're saved, that can be fixed. But then there's some people that are eternally gross. And that means that they'll always be gross. And you know who that is? Sodomites. The Bible says in Jude, it says, likewise, also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh. 2 Peter chapter two verse seven says this. And delivered just lot. Vex with the filthy conversation of the wicked. You know what that filthiness is of the flesh? HIV. Or AIDS. Or gay-related syndrome. It used to be called GRID. It was like immune disease. Gay-related immune disease. And they were like, this is mean because you're like singling out gays. You know why? Because only fags get it. What is HIV? Symptoms may include fever, tiredness, swollen lymph nodes, night sweats, joint and muscle aches, diarrhea, and a rash. When left untreated, it can cause death. Death. That's what these sodomites deserve. According to the CDC, men with men are disproportionately impacted by STIs. Oh, that's a shock. It says including gonorrhea and syphilis, and co-infection with HIV. So not only they have HIV, they've got all of it. They've got the gonorrhea, they've got the syphilis, they've got the HIV. In fact, like 36% of them have all of it. That's what you call gross. Go to Deuteronomy 22, where they're gross physically. And you know what? Even if the sodomites don't have STDs, they're still gross. Now, I have to make a confession, because I always hear this thing about West Coast is the best coast. But I have a chart, and it kind of confirms that in another way, all right? You might, it's probably hard to see, but this chart, the dark red shows you where all the people that have HIV live. And the white is good, okay? White is right in this argument. And you know, you can tell, obviously, San Francisco, it's like black almost. And there's a few bad spots. I mean, look at Florida and Atlanta. Just look at the East Coast. That is like HIV land. That is gross. Now, I'm not against anybody that lives there, okay? God bless you. But wow, that is gross. It's just gross that this map isn't just all white. You know what fixed this map? Leviticus 2013. They're wearing it all white. They talk about white nationalism. That's the kind of white nationalism I'm for. Turn the HIV map white. You know why fags are so gross? Well, according to a psychological article, it says straight men's physiological stress response to seeing two men kissing is the same as seeing maggots. But I don't think that that's true. Because you know what? I saw maggots this week. And I would way rather see maggots again. Now, I'll be honest. My impulse as soon as I saw maggots was to kill it. And burn it with fire. And that is the natural response of every God-fearing man when he sees faggots. You want to make America great again? Make Leviticus 2013 law again. Start there. You're like, what about the Jews? I don't get rid of a lot of Jews, folks. Seriously. But look, fags, they're gross the way they dress. They're gross the way they flop their little hands. It's gross! It's gross how they cross their legs like a girl. It's gross with their little lisp. You just want to slap it out of them. What does Deuteronomy 22 verse 5 say? The woman shall not wear that which pertains unto a man. Neither shall a man put on a woman's garment. For all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God. Nothing is grosser than a dude in a dress. These trannies are so gross! And look, it's not just a California problem, my friend. Go to Austin, Texas, and boy, will you see a bunch of hillbillies in a dress. It's disgusting! It's faggoty and it's fruity! Burn it with fire! Of course the government should do this. I already can't pay my legal bills. Thanks, Pastor Minutes, for pointing that out. That helped. But you know, even false religion gets in on this faggoty, queer, tranny thing. How about Islam? With their disgusting little sorry. Sorry you have to wear that dress, you faggot. That's what those little dresses are. Look, I went to Walmart and I see a grown man in a dress. And I'm thinking, like, you should throw yourself off the building. In Minecraft. Or they have another term, it's called the sarong. It's wrong! We got it! Look, transvestites look like demon clowns. They're so gross. Our country is becoming the most gross place in the world because of these trannies and these faggots everywhere. How can badness not preach against it? How come you have to come all the way down here in the wilderness to hear someone say this word faggot? What's wrong with America? What's wrong with fundamental badness today? I mean, how disgusting do faggots have to get for you to preach against it? Instead of being like John Getch, let's roll the red carpet out for them. Okay, well, if it leads into a pit of fire, I'll do that. If the red carpet leads them to a wall where we're going to line them up and put a bullet in the back of their head, I'll roll out the red carpet for them. I don't like that. Well, I don't like that our government's not doing that. And look, I have a lot of jobs, I have a lot of work, and I'm a very busy person. But I will for free of charge execute every homosexual if they bring back Leviticus 2013 in Texas. Hey, free public executioner. I'll do it. Free public executioner. I'll do it. I have the stomach for it. And if you see me smile, I don't, you know. I was just thinking of a joke in my head, okay? Look, we live in a country full of gross people. There's a lot of gross things in this world. Let us not be the gross people. Let us be different. Look, if you, you know, are bathing in poo, take a shower. Take a bath, you know, work out, get to work, stop smoking. If you've got a temporary grossness, just fix it. If you've got a lifetime grossness, well, you know what, praise God you get a new body. But do not encourage the kids to follow you in your actions. Help your children to be virgin on their wedding night. Help your children to realize that tattoos are gross. Help them to realize that there's some decisions you can make in this life that you can't change. And you don't want to be gross for the rest of your life. Go to, if you would, to 1 Corinthians 6, that's the last place I'll have you turn. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. And look, just stay away from those eternal, disgusting, gross people. Those vile, reprobate sodomites. Praise God we have a fence, so it can truly be said, without our dogs. You know, the Bible says in Ephesians chapter 5, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it, that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the water. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish. Of course, we want to make sure that we're striving to keep God's commandments. God said, be therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. The Bible says, be holy. But we also need to be holy, not just spiritually, not just mentally, but even physically. We need to work on this. 1 Corinthians 6 verse 19, what? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. We should not be a gross people. We should fear God and we should look at the fear of the Lord as being clean, not just spiritually, but also physically. Let's close in prayer. Thank you Heavenly Father so much for giving us such great commandments and being such a great God and being such a clean God. I pray that if anybody in here feels like they have some grossness in their life, that you would just help them to fix that. If they can't fix that, that you would just help remind them that they're a new creation in Christ and that they're the one who made it. That they're a new creation in Christ and that they'll get a new body, but that they wouldn't encourage others to follow in their bad decisions. And I pray that you would just help us to start a fire, to change the minds and hearts of those in this country, to recognize the eternal grossness of so many people in this nation and to help us just rid ourselves of all this grossness and help keep us away from all of this grossness. And I pray that you would just bless the rest of this conference and in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen. Let's grab our songbooks and turn to page number 356. That was a great sermon. That was red hot, wasn't it? Song number 356. We're going to sing a song and then we're going to have the reading of the text and then we're going to prepare for the next preacher this evening. Our song number 356, sing it out on the first. I must tell Jesus all of my trials I cannot bear these burdens of hope In my distress He kindly will help me He ever loves and cares for His own I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus I cannot bear my burdens alone I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus Jesus can help me, Jesus alone I must tell Jesus all of my troubles He is a kind, compassionate friend If I but ask Him, He will deliver Make up my troubles with me an end I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus I cannot bear my burdens alone I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus Jesus can help me, Jesus alone Tempted and tried, I need a great sleep One who can help my burdens to bear I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus He all my cares and sorrows will share I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus I cannot bear my burdens alone I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus Jesus can help me, Jesus alone You guys are singing well, so let's finish strong on the last. Oh how the world's new, evil unearls me Oh how my heart is tempted to sin I must tell Jesus, and He will help me Over the world, the victory to win Sing it out I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus I cannot bear my burdens alone I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus Jesus can help me, Jesus alone 1 Timothy chapter 2 1 Timothy chapter 2, the Bible reads I exhort therefore that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men for kings and for all that are in authority For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior Who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth For there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus Who gave himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time Whereunto I am ordained a preacher and an apostle I speak the truth in Christ and lie not A teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity I will therefore that men pray everywhere Lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting In like manner also that women adore themselves in modest apparel With shame, fadestness, and sobriety Not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array But, which becometh women professing godliness, with good works Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man But to be in silence For Adam was first formed, then Eve And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression Notwithstanding, she shall be saved and childbearing If they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety Let's pray Lord God Almighty, thank you for this conference Please strengthen Pastor Anderson Let his sermon edify us and glorify you In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray Amen Amen, it's great to be here tonight Thank you for coming out for the Red Hot Preaching Conference And before I get into my sermon, I want to say that also in November Our church in Tempe, Arizona is putting on a conference for missions We did this last November, we did this back in 2020 But it's November 6-10, so if you want to put that on your calendar We're going to have a lot of great preaching on that conference as well We're going to be talking about all new countries that we've been doing missions in Over the last 12 months The thing about this conference is that it's always new countries that we've not talked about in the past And it's all places where we've done missions within the last 12 months So we're not pulling out some old story from the good old days It's all new stuff And of course Pastor Shelley is going to be there preaching about the work that he did in Fiji And a lot of other great preaching So just wanted to just kind of plug that for November 6-10 So tonight I'm going to be preaching on the subject of female preachers Now even just a casual reading of 1 Timothy chapter 2 Should already just completely settle this issue of female pastors But yet today for some bizarre reason, this is controversial In fact, just in the last couple of weeks The Southern Baptist Convention has been wrestling with this issue And they had this big vote and it was really controversial About whether or not they should kick out the churches in the Southern Baptist Convention That have women as pastors And ultimately they decided not to kick them out of the Southern Baptist Convention And this kind of boggles my mind because I grew up as a Baptist And the way that I was raised was to go to the Bible to learn what truth is And even as a little kid I was taught that I could understand the Bible You know I'm so glad that when I was growing up as a little kid I didn't have people tell me, oh you can't understand the Bible Hey be careful little Steven with that Bible Because you know you might get hurt, you don't know what you're doing there You know I was never taught to be wary of the Bible Or that I needed a bunch of help to understand the Bible Or that I couldn't figure out the Bible No you know I was taught that God wanted to speak to me And that he was going to speak to me through the Bible And that God had something to say to me And that as a saved Christian I was qualified to pick up the Bible and read it And I was just always encouraged to believe it Just read it, believe it And you know what let me tell you something The Bible is written to you The Bible is written to me The Bible is written to all of us It's not written just for specialists or experts or scholars or academics The Bible is written to be read by the common man and understood Now obviously there are advanced things in the Bible Which is great because that way no matter how smart you get Or no matter how smart you think you get You will always find an intellectual challenge in the Bible Because there are some things in the Bible that are difficult or high level But in general the Bible is designed to where everybody can enjoy it Everybody can read it Everybody can learn from it The Bible is for you It's for me and it's how God speaks to us And so I grew up as a kid just letting God speak to me through the Bible And so you know as a kid I really gravitated toward the books of 1 and 2 Timothy Just because they were so relevant And they just seemed so powerful and hard hitting and easy to understand And they seemed like they were geared toward young men And so as a child, as a teenager I gravitated toward these books especially And I mean just reading 1 Timothy chapter 2 The thought never entered my mind I wonder if God wants women to be pastors of churches Because that thought never would enter anyone's mind Just reading this chapter But yet today there are those who will rest the scriptures They will twist the scriptures Because they go into the Bible with a preconceived idea of what they want to believe And then they push that interpretation into the Bible Instead of just taking the Bible for what it says Now if you look down at your Bible there in 1 Timothy chapter 2 It says in verse 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection But I suffer not a woman to teach Nor to usurp authority over the man But to be in silence He says look women need to learn in silence with all subjection I don't allow them to teach I don't allow them to usurp authority over the man They are to be in silence And of course we have another passage over in 1 Corinthians chapter 14 That says let your women keep silence in the churches It's not permitted unto them to speak I mean these are so clear in what they say But yet people won't accept it So what does the other side have to say about this? You know what's the argument when the Bible is just so clear and straightforward You know recently I saw someone post this scripture Because the scripture just speaks for itself They posted it without commentary They just posted these two verses Because they said dear Southern Baptist Convention And just these two verses you know sincerely whatever The Apostle Paul Here let me just fix everything You know if only there were a book That would somehow tell the Southern Baptist Convention Whether or not women should be pastors And then the response was Well that's out of context It's out of context So let's talk about this for a minute What does context mean? Well even just the word itself Kind of defines itself It's a self explanatory term Because the context Con is a prefix that means with Like together right I mean in Spanish it's literally what the word cone means right With So the context is the text That is with what you're reading The text that is with it Is its context The other text that it's there with Does anybody have any questions? It's pretty simple right And so let's look and see if there's anything in the context That would somehow negate The straightforward reading of this text It says in Let's go all the way back to verse 1 I exhort therefore that first of all Supplications, prayers, intercessions Giving of thanks be made for all men For kings and for all that are in authority That we may lead a quiet and peaceable life In all godliness and honesty For this is good and acceptable In the sight of God our Savior Who will have all men to be saved And to come unto the knowledge of the truth For there's one God and one mediator between God and man The man Christ Jesus Who gave himself a ransom for all To be testified in due time Now so far I'm not seeing any femininity I'm not seeing any feminism here I'm not seeing any women's rights I am woman, hear me roar Suffragettes You know I'm just reading about How God wants everyone to be saved And how Jesus Christ died for everybody Whereunto I'm ordained a preacher and an apostle I speak the truth in Christ and lie not A teacher of the gentiles in faith and verity I will therefore that men pray everywhere Lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting So verses one through seven The apostle Paul is just speaking universally About mankind You know when the Bible says That he'll have all men to be saved It's just talking about mankind Not respective of gender It's men in the sense of just humans But then when we get to verse eight We're specifically talking about the male gender here I will therefore that men pray everywhere Lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting And then in verse nine We get the flip side of that And we talk about the women In like manner also that women Adorn themselves in modest apparel With shame, face, and sobriety Not with broided hair or gold or pearls or costly array But which becometh women professing godliness with good works So he says that he does not want the women To be dressed in such a way Or to be adorned in such a way Where they're screaming for attention Hey look at me I'm all glittery and shiny And you know I'm trying to show off my body No it's saying that they should be in modest apparel With shame, face, and sobriety They should be dressed in a way that's serious They should be serious about doing good works And not just trying to just say Hey look at me I'm here in a flashy outfit Okay that's the context Because now we're into the relevant verse Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection But I suffer not a woman to teach Nor to usurp authority over the man But to be in silence For Adam was first formed Then Eve period Well that's a short little punchy verse Adam was formed first Then Eve you know well why though You know why do men get to be the pastors Why are men leading the church Why are men doing the preaching in the house of God Why don't we have the women preaching And the women pastoring and so forth Well because Adam was formed first then Eve Well what kind of an argument is that God's argument The Bible's argument The Apostle Paul's argument As far as I'm concerned the case closed And Adam was not deceived But the woman being deceived Was then the transgression Notwithstanding she shall be saved in child bearing If they continue in faith and charity And holiness with sobriety And then just when he finishes saying That women should not teach Or usurp authority over the man They should learn in silence Then he gets into the qualifications for the bishop Who is obviously supposed to be a man Which is why he's supposed to be the husband Of one wife And God just finished telling us That the woman should learn in silence Okay here's the man that should be running things The bishop He is going to be blameless Verse 2 of chapter 3 The husband of one wife That's the context There you go Did we put it in context or what We read the entire chapter We even spilled into chapter 3 We understand the context But you have to understand that when The libtards of this world tell you Well you're taking that out of context I mean what I just showed you Like what I just showed you I mean I think that's what context means Right? Like if someone took a quote of mine Out of context It would mean they didn't give the entire Speech that I made Or they didn't give the entire thought And they just took one little statement Or one little sentence out of context Instead of giving the surrounding Like 10 minutes or 5 minutes or 20 minutes Right? To provide context Here's what they mean When they say context They mean the historical context The cultural context Now here's the problem With this idea of putting the Bible In its proper historical and cultural context Here's the problem with that Number 1 The Bible transcends history And transcends culture The Bible is not limited To just a certain time And a certain place And a certain mentality This book was not intended For Timothy to read it And then it just self-destructs When he's done reading it You know when you're a Timothy If you choose to accept your mission Of pastoring Then you know this is gonna self-destruct In 10 seconds No my friend This book is written for us It wasn't just for back then That history, that culture It transcends culture and history The Bible is timeless Okay? That's number 1 But here's an even bigger reason Why this context argument Doesn't hold any water Is that we know Almost nothing About the culture At the time that this book was written See that's the elephant in the room That people aren't gonna talk about Is that we know Extremely little About the culture Of even when this book was written Which is the late 1st century A.D. Right? Late 1st century So, you know, 1900 some years ago Or whatever But what's funny is that these same people Will try to tell you about the culture Even at the time of Abraham 4000 years ago You know, they'll try to tell you About the culture 3000 years ago or something Excuse me, 3000 years ago Moses, 3500 years ago You know There is virtually no evidence For these things that they're telling you When they tell you Well, let me give you the culture Of the 1st century If you actually ask them To give you first-hand sources And give you actually primary sources For that information You'll find that there's very little to go on You know, you got a few Roman dudes Laying around in togas Writing a bunch of queer bait poetry And you got a bunch of, you know Just little scraps here A letter here An essay there And it's written by only very small Segments of the population You know, Joe Plummer Joe Sixpack He wasn't writing in the 1st century A.D. Anything that you can read today You don't know how normal people lived You don't know how the common man lived You have some letters From some senator You got a few historians here And a few poets there And a few ethnographies here and there Folks, there is so little evidence It will blow your mind When it comes to the Old Testament There's not little evidence There's just no evidence There is literally no evidence About the culture Of ancient Israel Other than the Bible I'm serious Here are some magazines That were popular Around the time of Abraham and Sarah Here are some magazines That the children of Israel would have read While they were in Egypt or something There's nothing There's not even a single scrap There's not even anything About ancient Israel Except the Bible So if you want to know about the culture Of the ancient Israelites You have to read it in the Bible And then sure You've got some Greco-Roman stuff Like I said You've got some Greco-Roman literature But again 99.9% of the evidence is lost 99% of the evidence is missing 99% of the data isn't there You know You can't really make judgments About what the culture was like At the time of Christ Because there's not enough evidence And especially If you're going to turn around and say God flat out says this But here let me take this Tiny little shred of evidence To just turn it on its head Because we've got to put this in the context Of the culture Here's how And by the way It's the same thing with the passage In Ephesians 5 About wives obeying their husbands Or submitting to their husbands Well you've got to put that in its proper Historical and cultural context Here's what's funny You know We think that we know something About how husbands and wives Interacted back then Or something like that But here's my question You know How many female authors Have survived from the first century AD There's virtually nothing Written by women You know I mean look I studied a lot of Latin poetry In the original language I think it was like I don't know less than 20 lines Of poetry This is the only Latin female author That we have from the first century AD So it sounds like we're getting A really limited perspective here If we're not hearing from any women At all virtually Okay How many famous female Greek authors are there? You know How many slaves are we hearing from? You know No kind of working class type people No We're just hearing from a few Rich toga clad Partying weirdo Romans And then we're going to know You know what the culture is Or whatever I mean come on I mean that's like That'd be like if one TV show survived Or something from 2024 And you're just going to claim like This is the culture of America Or something Or whatever How weird it is You know But no matter what show it was It wouldn't be accurate Because there's not enough of a picture And so don't let anyone snow you With this garbage of Oh well you know the culture back then Was this And by the way They'll tell you this Oh well you know the synagogue culture But again What are they basing their information A thousand years after Christ Fifteen hundred years after Christ Or sometimes even twentieth century Synagogue culture And then they're going to tell you Well you know what you have to understand About the women being silent Is that the synagogue culture Blah blah blah No why don't we just shut up And believe what the Bible says The Bible flat out says I suffer not a woman to teach Nor do you serve authority over the man But to be in silence What were husbands and wives like back then Probably pretty much the same way it is now Because there's no new thing under the sun People are people And so there were always husbands and wives And you know What were the gender dynamics like in the church Probably pretty much just like they are now Why would it be different Folks this book was not written on another planet It's the same human nature And by the way Peter in 1 Peter chapter 3 He talks about Sarah Obeying Abraham and calling him Lord He's talking about people who lived Two thousand years earlier He doesn't say Well you know Sarah called him Lord But you know It was a different culture He just says hey That's what she did And two thousand years later I'm using this illustration And then we're two thousand years removed from Peter So if Peter can talk about something Two thousand years ago And give a single breath To the historical Or cultural context He just says nah man This is how it was with Abraham and Sarah Go and do likewise And then we're saying Well here's what Peter says It's God's word Do it End of story Don't let these people fool you And make you think that they know something That you don't know It's all just the emperor With no clothes on And they claim they know so much About the culture It's all speculation You know what it's like It's like these scientists Where they find like one little bone Of a dinosaur But they know it's purple And his name is Barney You know what I mean Like how do you know what color it was You know Oh you know the Are you looking at a bone You know if you stand still Tyrannosaurus can't see you Cause I got this bone from his kneecap Like what is that But that's what people believe don't they They're just trust experts all the time Let me tell you something Most experts Are all just kind of a lot of hype You know and at the end of the day Anytime somebody's gonna tell you About the culture Of the Bible Unless they're quoting from the Bible To tell you about that culture It is 99% Gonna be bullcrap And the 1% of the time That it's not bullcrap Well we could probably just live without it And just go to the grave without it You know the 99% bullcrap's Not worth it to get that 1% Little nugget about the culture Who cares Folks The things that the Lord taught me In my bedroom with the Bible Reading the Bible as a child In my room as a kid Are the same things that I believe today Because they came from God They came from the Holy Spirit They came from reading the word of God And all of this academic And cultural And historical research Doesn't change the flat out truth Of what God's word says Right there on the surface It couldn't be any clearer my friend The Bible says Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection But I suffer not a woman to teach Nor to usurp authority over the man But to be in silence I mean I've sat around and thought How could I make this more If I were writing the Bible How could I make this clearer And I'm just like I can't It's like he's approaching it from every angle He's like I don't want them teaching Just make sure you Just make sure you Or to usurp authority over the man Or to teach Or to usurp authority Oh and by the way that means silence Why? Why? Why? Is it because men are better? Is it because they're smarter? No it's because I said so Because Adam was first formed then Eve Which is pretty much as good as just saying Cause I said so Okay Now another argument that I've heard Cause you know the big argument that I heard Was number one like hey that's out of context And again they don't mean what normal people mean by context What do normal people mean by context? The surrounding text That's the con Look when I talk about context When we as pastors talk about context That's what we're talking about We're talking about like the surrounding chapter Because look we want to understand the Bible If we have a scripture we want to understand In the context of its chapter We want to understand the book And its greater context of the entire New Testament It's a greater context of the entire Bible But that's not what they mean They mean the historical cultural context Which they make up Which they get from speculating Which they get from reading some queer bait author Some literal pedophile or something You know writing poetry And they're like well this tells us the culture Folks if you knew And I don't know how else to explain this Or get this across If you knew how little we know About the world 2,000 years ago You'd be shocked Okay as far as like how scant the data is How little is right I mean you can get major major works of literature From 2,000 years ago And if you read those There'll be big chunks missing Saying this part's missing And it's like one of the most popular books of all time Or something And it's just chunks of it are missing Folks things don't survive that long And if you want to talk about history That's actually reliable Or that we can be pretty sure of Here's the thing It's pretty much the last 500 years Before that things are kind of sketchy And the further you go back The sketchier it gets Time of Christ is pretty decent But not to tell you everything about the culture Okay and before 500 BC Just forget it Forget anything being accurate Before 500 BC Because nobody knows Okay That's just the reality of it And you know what Experts in these fields would say Yeah that's true actually Because they're actually looking at primary sources They're not just going to the store And buying a book called Oh okay wow You know the The needle of the eye gate Isn't that a kick You know Oh okay Just taking it all as gospel Even though there are no actual footnotes That lead anywhere They lead in a circle But then besides this So-called context argument Another argument that I'll hear is this Oh yeah Well you don't know what verse 15 means So what now First of all I know exactly what verse 15 means I've been preaching verse 15 Ever since I started pastoring I've never had an issue with verse 15 I don't have any I don't think verse 15 is that hard to understand I've preached in my whole ministry But let's pretend for a second Let's pretend for a second That it's super hard and confusing Even though it's not Let's pretend for a second that it were That doesn't make The verses that we just looked at hard or confusing Okay Obviously the Bible is a mix of things that are easy And things that are hard So this attitude that says Oh there's a hard verse Well that means we just can't understand anything You know and it reminds It's sort of like Pastor Mejia was preaching last night About Roman Catholicism They can debunk your interpretation Of call no man father But they can't actually give you A valid interpretation of it Because what they end up doing Is making void the Word of God What they do Is they take a big stab Just void the Word of God And just say This isn't what he meant He didn't mean this And then it's like well what did he mean And they can't really produce anything meaningful About what it means to call no man father Which is heaven You know it's the same thing with this To sit there and say well you know When the Bible says that women should be in silence When it says that he does not allow them to teach He doesn't allow them to usurp authority over the man They need to learn in silence They need to be in subjection They are not running things They are not in charge They are not the bosses They are not the ones publicly preaching Oh yeah well what about this other verse Where does that leave us The things that are staring us in the face And they say well you know Is salvation by child bearing Or is it by believing in Jesus Now here's the thing about this Is that obviously salvation means different things in different contexts You're not going to believe this But when Peter is drowning and he yells Lord save me Lord save me What he's saying is Pull me out of the water I think it's pretty clear from the context That's a different kind of salvation Okay Well this is clearly not saying If you want to go to heaven You have to have babies We're not Mormons We're not talking about populating some planet That's you know Revolve around the star Colab here Okay What's the context What's the context Verse 14 says Adam was not deceived But the woman being deceived Was in the transgression Notwithstanding Notwithstanding is a conjunction Okay Connecting what's about to be said With what was just said So he says look the woman was deceived But But we could just say but I mean notwithstanding is a cooler word But we could just say you know She was deceived and she was in the transgression But Not withstanding She shall be saved in childbearing Saved from what? Saved from being deceived by the devil Now keep your finger here And let me just show you How this fits within the context of the book Go to chapter 5 of the same book Chapter 5 of the same book my friend Alright look at chapter 5 And the Bible You know talking about some of the pitfalls In chapter 2 It says in verse 13 With all they learn to be idle Wandering about from house to house Not only idle But toddlers also And busybodies Speaking things which they ought not So it's warning about Women who have too much time on their hands They could get to where they're just gossiping And they're busybodies And they're sitting around And they're getting involved in drama And so forth It says in chapter 4 That the younger women marry Bear children Guide the house Give none occasion to the adversary To speak reproachfully You see what he's saying is You're not going to be idle If you're married And having children You know women here today That are married with children They're not idle If they are idle Then the kids are tearing the place apart And they're doing right As a mother It's a difficult time consuming job So he says look Women shouldn't be idle They need to get busy Hey men shouldn't be idle Men need to go to work Stay busy right It'll keep us out of trouble If we're out there doing stuff Women get busy By getting married Raising children This is going to keep them out of trouble right So they're going to feed their children They're going to guide the house They're going to give none occasion to the adversary To speak reproachfully For some are already turned aside after Satan So look Satan's desire for women Is to deceive them And to get them transgressing And sinning And doing wrong That's right here in the context of 1 Timothy And it's in chapter 5 Well chapter 2 Is simply saying She's saved She was in the transgression But you know what She's going to be spared from that She's going to be saved from that She's going to be guarded from that Through childbearing right The same thing that's taught in chapter 5 Is the same thing that's being taught in chapter 2 But obviously childbearing doesn't just automatically mean That they're not going to follow After you know The devil's plan for their lives To do stupid things And mess up their lives And give them charity And holiness with sobriety I don't see what's so hard about this I mean look Again I'm going back to my little 9 year old 10 11 year old brain I remember reading this as a kid And saying Well you know when it says She shall be saved in childbearing There's no way that this means Oh if she has kids she'll go to heaven And if she doesn't have kids She won't go to heaven I don't know what that's about And so what I You know I didn't understand it Like I just explained it to you Right now But I didn't walk away like Man I don't know Is salvation by faith Or is it through procreating I didn't have some crisis of faith I was just like Well hey this verse is a little bit over my head But I don't really care And so I'm going to go watch some cartoons now But I didn't walk away saying Well you know This is making me question everything About women preachers now Now I'm starting to think That maybe women should Usurp authority over the man I don't know maybe they should be teaching And preaching in the local church Maybe silence is not the answer for them Folks it's crazy It's madness Like if you're going to read the Bible that way What are you going to do with other passages Like do you really think That somebody who's going to twist A passage that hard Is going to just read the rest of the Bible And take it at face value Folks they're going to be Twisting every verse that they come to I promise you That there is not A female pastor on this planet Who is doctrinally sound I promise you that Why? Why? Because if a woman actually cared About what God said She wouldn't be a pastor She would just find another way To serve God And let me ask you something Who here is a man in this building Who would say you know what Hey I'm a Christian And I'm interested in serving God But I'm never going to be a pastor At least I don't think I'm ever going to be a pastor Put up your hand If you're a man in here So all you prospective women pastors out there Look around And be like these guys Like what are you saying That can't serve God Are you saying that these guys can't serve God Folks How many chiefs and how many Indians Are there going to be? I'm not talking about Pastor Shelley's Beloved Indians I'm talking about the other kind of Indians Folks we're not going to be all chiefs And no Indians You know you only need a few pastors Right? And then you need a lot of just Foot soldiers for Christ Well you know And then let's flip over to 1 Corinthians 14 Because we've spent a lot of time In 1 Timothy 2 And you know what I like to just hammer one passage though Why not just hammer that one passage I don't want to let anybody wriggle Out of that passage Squirm out from under it No that passage is Enough But look at 1 Corinthians 14 Just to support What is taught over in 1 Timothy chapter 2 1 Corinthians chapter 14 Verse 34 Let your women keep silence In the churches folks It's almost the same exact wording Let your women keep silence In the churches God I'm sorry I'm not sure what that means Okay let me break it down to you It's not permitted under them Speak It's like how many ways Can you say the same thing Oh can we have them not talk And can we also have them be quiet Too Oh but I don't know what this means Like in case you don't know And in case you don't know What don't talk means It means be silent And in case you don't know What being silent means It means don't talk Let your women keep silence In the churches For it's not permitted Under them to speak But they're commanded to be Under obedience As also sayeth the law So the obedience here Is the same as the submission The leadership of the local church Is male You say what gives you the right To lead As men Is it just because you have that Different reproductive organ Yes It says let your women keep silence For it is not permitted Under them to speak But they're commanded to be Under obedience As also sayeth the law And if they will learn And will here means want to Right it's the older language Of the KJV And if they will learn anything Let them ask their husbands At home For it is a shame For women to speak And the church is saying And raising their hand And saying hey Pastor Anderson You know what's going on With this that you're preaching Or what about this You know it's just not Their place to be publicly Piping up There to learn in silence And then it says They're commanded to be Under obedience As also sayeth the law And if they will learn anything Let them ask their husbands For it is they'll say Well you know the context And again it has nothing to do With what's on the page in front of you You know the context is When it says the law there You know it was against the law Back then you know Like the secular law was like No women talking in churches Really Of course they can't ever produce A law like that They can't show any evidence That such a law ever existed The Apostle Paul says Here's what the law says What about all the other times The Apostle Paul talks about the law What is he typically talking about What is it What about when he's talking about the law In books like Romans Or Galatians What's he talking about Is he talking about some Statute of the Roman Empire What's he talking about He's talking about God's law He's talking about God's law He's talking about the Old Testament He says they're commanded To be under obedience As also sayeth the law Now let me ask you this Does the Old Testament law of God Teach that men are to be in authority Okay last time I checked The Bible will often refer To the first five books of the Bible As the law And sometimes it will even Call the Old Testament as the law Or huge chunks of the Old Testament As the law right And right there in Genesis chapter 3 The Bible says in verse 16 That the husband will rule over his wife That the man rules over the woman It's that simple And then we have The story about Sarah and Abraham Right there in the law With Sarah obeying Abraham Calling him Lord So yeah that is what the law says That is what the Bible says And by the way Let's just again Because look I like to At least stop and think about What the other side has to say And try to You know why? Because the truth fears no investigation The truth can stand up to scrutiny So let's again Let's have another fantasy Where we pretend that Paul's like But there's this law You know That the Romans have And we don't want to offend them Is that really the way Paul ever operated? I know this is a weird fantasy But like hey there's this You know there's Well you know the Jews have this law Paul loved telling the Jews Where they could go shove their stupid law Jesus Christ Was constantly telling them Where they could shove their stupid laws And they employed The Word of God with your tradition He didn't follow their laws About washing cups and plates And washing your hands and everything He didn't follow that stuff But let's just pretend for a second That there was such a law Look what the text says right in front of you It says they're commanded to be under obedience As Also Sayeth the law Notice the word also In addition to what? In addition to God saying it In addition to me saying it right now The Old Testament also says it God's saying it right now in the New Testament But the law also says it It doesn't say Well we gotta do it Cause the law It's like nah Do it and also the law That's just a little cherry on top And you know what You'll have this beautiful banana split Called Keep silence in the church women You got a scoop of vanilla Called 1 Timothy chapter 2 You've got a scoop of chocolate Called 1 Corinthians chapter 14 Okay You've got a scoop of strawberry That is called Titus chapter 2 Or 1 Peter 3 Then you got the whipped cream Right Of you know The entire book of Acts And then you have this little cherry on top Of like well you know as also sayeth the law And either way You know It's gonna be good If you leave out any of the ingredients You'll still Be satisfied And so It says here As sayeth also the law Now Here's the thing Another argument that people will come up with Is they'll say well By the way does somebody know what time I started preaching Somebody knows Somebody knows and I want them to tell me Come on some teenager is looking at the clock And timing things Five minutes ago That's what I thought I was just checking Alright I don't know man 7.40 Okay thank you for your honesty Alright So Another argument That people will come up with With regard to this Is they'll say Well I know the Bible just flat out says that In 1 Corinthians 14 But They'll say What about all these examples in the Bible Of all these female pastors First of all Let me give you a list of all the female pastors In the Bible I just did Okay there aren't any There are no female pastors in the Bible Obviously You could find women Who did stuff Women who held Certain positions or offices Throughout history But you'll never find a female pastor In the Bible It just doesn't exist And if so I would like to know what her name is Okay But what they mean by that is they'll say Well you know what about Deborah the prophetess Okay Well here's the thing If there are no female pastors And no women preaching or teaching In the house of God We're not saying That women can't serve God And talk about the Bible And do spiritual activities Of winning souls You know sharing scripture With their friends and loved ones Nobody's saying for women Not to talk about the Bible We're just saying For them not to talk about the Bible During a church service On the other side Is basically creating a straw man Oh women keep silent So you're saying they can't sing the songs So you're saying they can't talk To one another in fellowship Oh so you're saying that they can never You know teach the Bible to their neighbor Or their friend or their loved one Or they can't go slowly No no that's not worth saying at all The Bible defines itself The Bible says that they are to learn in silence So when it's preaching time It's learning time right When the pews have their Bibles open And they're learning That's the time to learn in silence I don't even want to hear women say Amen I want to hear men say Amen That's why it's Amen It's right there in the Word Just a little reminder for you Why? Because here's the thing Because they're to learn in silence Now look obviously all of God's people Are going to sing the songs We're all going to talk about the Bible And look of course the Bible does document The wonderful women who did great works for God And look I even believe in women Preaching the Gospel to every creature door to door I believe in women preaching The Gospel to the milkman Preaching the Gospel to the water delivery guy Preaching the Gospel to the gardener Preaching the Gospel to Whatever person they come into contact with Male or female That's not what we're talking about my friend We're talking about an authority structure Within the local church Nobody's saying that women can't lead Because I want every married woman to lead Her home While her husband's at work Amen? Amen Look you think I want to be micromanaging my wife all the time? You think I want to be pulling up some ring doorbell camera Trying to figure out what she's doing And like hey hey what are you doing sitting down again You know I don't care Here's the thing You know what I want my wife to do? I want my wife to run that house And you know what the Bible says about women? It says they are to guide the house It doesn't just say that they're to do housework It says guide the house They are to rule that house When the husband is away Obviously the husband is the head of the home He's the ultimate authority But obviously he's not there For the majority of the time Vast majority of us are out working all day And our wife is the one actually running things And that's biblical for our wives to run things at home I want my wife to run things I want her to make decisions I want her to get things done I want her to lead and guide But you know what I don't want? I don't want to go to church And the church is run by a woman Or the preaching and teaching is being done by a woman Because the Bible says that that is a shameful thing And it's against God's word And look We could point to examples in the book of Acts Where the early church is there With the women, 120 of them They go out in public They go out into the streets of Jerusalem And they're all preaching the gospel Men and women are both preaching the gospel To the unsaved, to the lost Outside of the church Out there amongst the unsaved They're all preaching because God says That he poured out his spirit upon the servants And upon the handmaidens You know the Apostle Paul Talked about women Who labored with him in the gospel Paul said hey, bless these women That have labored with me in the gospel There were women that followed Jesus There were women who were some of the first people to see Jesus After he rose from the dead And he told these women Go tell Peter Go tell the disciples Go tell them that I've risen from the dead So look, it's not that women can't talk about the Bible God told women Go tell that guy about the Bible Go tell that guy about the Bible Tell these people about the Bible The Apostle Paul had women laboring with him in the gospel Acts 2, Day of Pentecost Women are winning souls to Christ But you know what? None of this Negates what the Bible said That women should keep silence in the church And that women should not lead Or teach or preach Or rule in the house of God Period See, here's the thing about the Bible All of it's true We have to take all of what the Bible teaches And believe all of it So, was Deborah a prophetess? Amen! But you know, was Deborah a pastor of a New Testament church? Was Deborah preaching in a New Testament church? In fact, we don't even see any evidence Of Deborah ever preaching publicly to any crowd of people Do we? If it is, where is it? Because I'm pretty familiar with that story In Judges chapter 4 We have her telling Barak Hey, God's called you to go do this And she's telling him to go fight And then he says, well, I really want you to come with me And she says, well, I'll come with you, but it's kind of lame I'm paraphrasing But she's like, it's kind of lame that you need me to come with you And because you're doing this lameness Someday there's going to be this faggoty president named after you You know, and it's just like No, that's not what she said But what she actually said was She said, you know, some She said basically the victory is going to go into the hand of a woman Now, he thinks that she's talking about herself Right, that she's saying like Well, if I go with you, then God's going to deliver the enemy into the hand of a woman But no, it's actually a totally different woman named Jael And of course Jael puts the tent spike through Sisera's head and so forth And then in chapter 5 Barak and Deborah They compose a song together And they're singing a song together And they're singing a song together And they compose a song together And they're singing a song together You know, it's like one of these wonderful couples duets You know It's the type of thing that like Pastor Jimenez's wife would sing You know, as a couple or something But anyway, you know, basically they're You know, they're getting up and singing a song About God's deliverance But you know, I don't see Deborah having some big public preaching ministry It's more like she's super smart, super wise God's spirit is upon her in a mighty way So people are coming to her for judgment People are coming to her for advice People are coming to her to learn the word of God You know, with regard to how to handle different situations and things People are looking to her as a spiritual person But That's totally different from being a pastor Or a female preacher in a church Does everybody see the difference? And there's nothing wrong with some godly woman You know, giving advice outside of the church, outside of the pulpit Laying her wisdom on people You know, my grandma laid all kinds of wisdom on me Amen, you know, that's great Oh, these women that Jesus sent You know, yeah, go tell Peter Nobody's saying women can't talk Nobody's saying women can't talk about the Bible Nobody's saying that women can't witness And get people saved You know, I guarantee you that this church is filled with women who go soul winning I know at Faithful Word we have a lot of ladies that go out and do a lot of great soul winning And I'm really thankful for that And you know, I don't like this idea that soul winning's just for men You know, I like to see the women out soul winning too Obviously, I understand it's difficult a lot of times for women to get out soul winning Because of the, you know, the kids and the situation and everything I mean, man, I'd love to see women out soul winning I would love it if every woman would be a soul winner I would love it if every teenager would be a soul winner But are we going to make a teenager a pastor of the church? I mean, they do know everything You know, but But no, they're not going to be the pastor So they'll say, you know, well If we study the Bible, we've got all of these women that God's using in a mighty way Of course, God's using women in a mighty way But what if I told you this? What if I told you that there are a lot of men that are being used mightily by God that are not pastors? And what if I told you that there are a lot of men that are being used mightily by God That never teach and preach in the church house? Folks, there are some guys today that are hopping on airplanes, flying to mission fields across the world And winning hundreds of people to Christ Just having just throngs of young people crowding around them as they preach the gospel to receptive young Just getting scores of people saved And folks, those people are going to be way ahead in line Of the judgment seat of Christ of a lot of pastors You know? You know, in fact, I fully expect that even when I get to heaven That a whole bunch of laymen are going to be ahead of me in line Because I'm not the pastor of the church because I'm the best Christian of Faith Lord Baptist Church Pastor Jimenez is not the pastor of Verity Baptist Church Because he's the best Christian of Verity Baptist Church And he's better than you And you know, you just need to realize that he's better And if you're here, I know some of you are visiting from Tempe Some of my people here just realize I'm better That's why I'm the pastor Do you believe that? No! I've never claimed to be And you know, some of these people have this adage You know, well I'm a better Christian than Pastor Anderson Maybe I should be the pastor You know, I'm a better Christian than Pastor Jimenez Maybe I should be the pastor Here's the thing First of all, if that's how you think You probably kind of suck as a Christian Because it's hard to believe that somebody that's filled with pride like that is a good Christian But let's just say you're right That doesn't mean that you should be the pastor Because guess what? It's not a contest of Hey, let's see who's the best Christian and let's make him the pastor No, the pastor is someone who is biblically qualified to be the pastor And it's someone who's good at doing the job of being a pastor And here's the thing You know, I would love to say that I'm the best soul winner in the church But maybe I am and maybe I'm not Because guess what? Being the best soul winner isn't necessarily the same thing as being the best pastor You know I know more about the Bible Yeah, but are you apt to teach the Bible? Have you been called by God? Have you been qualified according to the qualifications? You know, the bottom line is Nobody's claiming that pastors are better than laymen At least we shouldn't be claiming that Pastors are not better than laymen, my friend Pastors are pastors They have a role to play in the body of Christ Everybody in the body of Christ is important It's not just the ear that's important or the eye or the nose Every part of the body of Christ is important Every man, woman, boy, and girl has a role to play And I'm telling you that there are some men today who are not pastors Who are being greatly used by God There are women today that are being greatly used by God There are women today We have women at our church that have won just hundreds and hundreds of people to the Lord You know, possibly even thousands I mean, we have some women at our church that have done some great works for God Over the course of years or even decades What about these women in the Bible who did great works for God? What about the women at Verity Baptist Church that do great things for God? What about the women at Faithful Word that do great things for God? But you know what? They're not going to pastor Because at the end of the day Thus saith the Lord And you know what? If you're comfortable twisting 1 Timothy 2 that much And if you're comfortable twisting 1 Corinthians 14 that much Then I am scared to death of how you're going to treat the rest of the Bible And I sure as hell don't want to hear anything that you have to say From behind the pulpit Let's bow our eyes and have a word of prayer Father, we thank you so much for your word Lord, thank you for making it so clear that a child can understand Lord, you know that I'm for education and intelligence and study But Lord God, help all of us to become as little children And to just have that childlike faith in what you have said in your word And Lord God, help all of us to submit ourselves to what the Bible clearly teaches on every subject And Lord God, may it never be said of us or the churches that we're involved in That we have female pastors on staff And in Jesus' name we pray, amen Amen.
