Look down your Bibles at verse 13. 00:07.100 --> 00:11.260 The Bible says these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God 00:11.660 --> 00:16.780 And it says that you may know that you have eternal life and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God 00:17.100 --> 00:23.100 And the title of the sermon this morning is the importance of eternal security the importance of eternal security 00:23.420 --> 00:28.700 And this morning I want to preach on this doctrine of eternal security or one save all we save because it is an essential 00:28.780 --> 00:35.100 Doctrine of the christian faith the Bible does teach that eternal security is the gospel. So in order to be saved you have to 00:35.100 --> 00:39.640 believe in this doctrine and according to the eternal security you know as a believer 00:39.640 --> 00:44.020 we can have full assurance that we are saved. So if you are here this morning visiting and 00:44.020 --> 00:46.820 you don't know whether or not you are going to go to heaven the Bible says right there 00:46.820 --> 00:51.820 in 1st John 5 13 that God wrote this so that we can know that we have eternal life. 00:52.200 --> 00:57.200 And this morning I have six points that I want to cover of what eternal security proves 00:57.200 --> 01:01.200 and I have a seventh point as a bonus of what happens if you deny this doctrine. 01:01.200 --> 01:04.200 So just as a way of introduction, I'm going to read to you a couple of verses. 01:04.200 --> 01:07.200 And while I do that, just go to John chapter 10, if you would. 01:07.200 --> 01:09.200 John chapter 10. 01:10.100 --> 01:14.740 And as I said, eternal security is the gospel. It is something that God has made clear in the Bible. 01:14.740 --> 01:18.820 It's not an obscure doctrine where, you know, we have to wonder whether or not we're going to go to 01:18.820 --> 01:23.940 heaven. The Bible makes it very clear that we can know. And that's a good assurance to us. That's 01:23.940 --> 01:28.260 the good news, knowing whether or not we're going to go to heaven when we die. And it's not something 01:28.260 --> 01:32.260 that we have to wait until, you know, we die, you know, to find out whether or not we were good 01:32.260 --> 01:36.260 enough to go. The Bible says right here that he wrote this so that we can actually know because 01:36.260 --> 01:38.100 because we believe on the name of the Son of God. 01:38.900 --> 01:42.660 And so, Acts 16 tells us exactly what we have to do in order to get saved. 01:42.660 --> 01:46.260 Obviously, this is just a review for a lot of us because we know what it takes to get saved if 01:46.260 --> 01:50.020 you're saved this morning. The Bible makes it clear that there's only one thing that we have to do in 01:50.020 --> 01:54.420 order to go to heaven and that's just to believe on Jesus Christ, which means we have to put all our 01:54.420 --> 01:59.380 faith, all our trust, all our confidence in what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. You know, 01:59.380 --> 02:04.180 the fact that he died for us was buried and that he rose again three days later. And if we put our 02:04.180 --> 02:06.900 faith on this Bible says that we have eternal 02:06.900 --> 02:11.460 life. The Bible says in Acts 16, 30 and 31, it brought them out and said, Sirs, what must 02:11.460 --> 02:15.180 I do to be saved? And so that question was asked in the Bible, you know, what do I have 02:15.180 --> 02:19.660 to do in order to go to heaven? And it's pretty simple. The answer, right? It was very clear. 02:19.660 --> 02:23.460 You know, God could have put anything on this passage, you know, when it talks about what 02:23.460 --> 02:26.780 do we have to do to go save, to be saved. You know, God could have said, you have to 02:26.780 --> 02:30.980 repent of your sins. God could have said, you have to get baptized. You have to go to 02:30.980 --> 02:34.900 church, you have to be a good person. But when we read that verse, when the question 02:34.900 --> 02:38.100 was asked what must I do to be saved the answer was clear and it says this 02:38.100 --> 02:42.660 believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved so it's that simple 02:42.660 --> 02:47.100 just believing on Jesus Christ having faith in the Jesus of the Bible and like 02:47.100 --> 02:50.380 I say you know eternal security is not an obscure doctrine it's something 02:50.380 --> 02:54.020 that's very clear in the Bible it's not something that we have to you know 02:54.020 --> 02:58.380 study for long hours we read a verse and we take it at face value use some 02:58.380 --> 03:01.900 common sense use some logic and we can understand that once we're safe we're 03:01.900 --> 03:02.900 always saved 03:02.900 --> 03:06.140 And we read to you another verse. The Bible says in Acts 4, 12, you're still there in 03:06.140 --> 03:07.220 John chapter 10. 03:07.700 --> 03:14.180 The Bible says in Acts 412, neither is there salvation and any other for there is none other 03:14.180 --> 03:19.620 name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. And so the point I'm trying to make here 03:19.620 --> 03:24.660 is that Jesus Christ is the one that gives us eternal life and there's no other name given 03:24.660 --> 03:29.460 among men under heaven where we must be saved. And so the Bible makes it clear that we have to 03:29.460 --> 03:33.860 put our faith on Jesus Christ. And when we talk about Jesus Christ, we're talking about the Jesus 03:33.860 --> 03:35.700 of the Bible. See, because there's a lot of 03:35.700 --> 03:39.900 false Jesus out there, there's a lot of false Gospels out there, and when we tell people, 03:39.900 --> 03:43.620 hey, put your faith on Jesus Christ, we're talking about Jesus of the Bible. 03:44.000 --> 03:47.100 The Bible says in 1st Timothy chapter 2 verse 5 it says, 03:47.100 --> 03:50.800 for there is one God and one mediator between God and man, 03:50.800 --> 03:52.800 the man Christ Jesus. 03:52.800 --> 03:55.300 So all throughout the Bible, it's going to emphasize that 03:55.300 --> 03:57.700 the Savior of men is Jesus Christ. 03:57.700 --> 03:59.900 And notice how it says that there's one mediator between 03:59.900 --> 04:02.100 man and God, the man Christ Jesus. 04:02.100 --> 04:04.000 It's not saying the Virgin Mary. 04:04.000 --> 04:06.200 It's not saying the Pope, that faggot, right? 04:06.200 --> 04:08.000 It's not saying the priest or anything like that. 04:08.000 --> 04:11.300 It's saying that there's one man, one mediator between man 04:11.300 --> 04:11.900 and God. 04:12.000 --> 04:17.280 the man Christ Jesus. Now I'm going to read to you in John chapter 22, you're still there in John 10, 04:17.840 --> 04:25.280 John 22, 31, similar wordage to what we saw in first John chapter 5. It says, but these 04:25.280 --> 04:30.240 are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing 04:30.240 --> 04:35.840 you might have life through his name. And so John makes it very clear what we have to believe, right, 04:35.840 --> 04:39.840 in order to get saved. He tells us the purpose of his books. He says, but these are 04:40.000 --> 04:44.240 written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing 04:44.240 --> 04:46.320 you might have life through His name. 04:46.320 --> 04:49.840 In 1 John 5.13, when we first started, He said that these things are written that you 04:49.840 --> 04:52.360 may know that you have eternal life. 04:52.360 --> 04:56.480 That you that believe in the name of the Son of God may know that you have eternal life. 04:56.480 --> 05:00.320 And so this morning, as I said, I want to give you six points of what the doctrine of 05:00.320 --> 05:05.480 eternal security proves and a seventh one as a bonus of what happens if you denied this 05:05.480 --> 05:05.980 doctrine. 05:06.600 --> 05:08.680 So let me read to you another verse before we get started. 05:08.680 --> 05:11.880 Second Corinthians chapter 11 and verse four says, 05:12.500 --> 05:17.700 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive 05:17.700 --> 05:22.580 another spirit which ye have not received, or another gospel which ye have not accepted, 05:22.580 --> 05:23.980 ye might well bear with him." 05:23.980 --> 05:28.400 And so here we see that there is another Jesus, obviously it's a false Jesus, there's another 05:28.400 --> 05:33.260 gospel which is a false gospel, there's another spirit, and the Bible tells us in 1 John 5, 05:33.260 --> 05:38.220 I believe it says, "'Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether 05:38.220 --> 05:40.500 they are of God because many false prophets 05:40.500 --> 05:44.900 are gone out into the world. And so there's a lot of false prophets out 05:44.900 --> 05:48.380 there. The Bible makes that very clear. People that profess to be Christians, 05:48.380 --> 05:52.500 people that pass themselves as pastors, you know, that desire to be teachers of 05:52.500 --> 05:57.440 the law, understanding neither what they teach nor where they affirm. And so 05:57.440 --> 06:01.580 there's a lot of people out there that have the title of a pastor but they're 06:01.580 --> 06:05.500 teaching a false gospel. And why is it false? Because they deny one save what we 06:05.500 --> 06:08.500 save. They deny eternal security. And so 06:08.500 --> 06:13.220 here we see that there's another spirit, there's another gospel. The Bible also says in Galatians 06:13.220 --> 06:18.140 1, it says, which is not another, but there be some that trouble you who would pervert 06:18.140 --> 06:21.540 the gospel of Christ. So it's not that there's two gospels or anything like that. There's 06:21.540 --> 06:25.340 only one gospel, believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, but there are people out there that 06:25.340 --> 06:28.940 would pervert this gospel of Christ. And so like I said this morning, I just want to give 06:28.940 --> 06:34.140 you six points on what the doctrine of eternal security proves, and then a bonus point of 06:34.140 --> 06:36.260 what happens if you were to deny this doctrine. 06:36.500 --> 06:42.540 So go to, you're there in John chapter 10, look down at your Bibles at verse 28. 06:42.540 --> 06:47.020 The title of the sermon this morning is the importance of eternal security. 06:47.020 --> 06:48.460 So here's the first thing it proves. 06:48.460 --> 06:52.220 Number one is this, that eternal security does prove one save always save. 06:52.700 --> 06:58.700 right? Or as we also can put it as you cannot lose your salvation. The Bible teaches that once 06:58.700 --> 07:03.260 you're saved, you're always saved. That's it. Once you put your faith on Jesus Christ, you have 07:03.260 --> 07:08.780 eternal life. And like the word implies eternal means eternal. It's not temporal life. It's 07:08.780 --> 07:13.740 something that once you have it, you're always going to have it. Now in John chapter 10 verse 28, 07:13.740 --> 07:17.340 look down at your Bibles and it says, and I give unto them eternal life. 07:17.800 --> 07:22.660 They shall never perish neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand my father 07:22.660 --> 07:28.200 Which gave them me is greater than all and no man is able to pluck them out of my father's hand 07:28.360 --> 07:34.060 Now go to Romans chapter 8 and so here we see you know that not only are we placed in the hand of Jesus 07:34.060 --> 07:38.800 We're also placed in the hand of the father and so once we're in God's hand 07:38.800 --> 07:43.540 There's nothing that we can do to pluck ourselves out. That's why it doesn't make sense when people say, you know 07:43.540 --> 07:45.540 Well, I'm able to walk away or 07:45.800 --> 07:47.560 What if I were to give the gift back? 07:47.560 --> 07:48.760 Or what if I were to fall away? 07:48.760 --> 07:49.760 That wouldn't make any sense. 07:49.760 --> 07:52.540 That would contradict this verse. 07:52.540 --> 07:55.200 Because the Bible clearly teaches that we're in the Father's hand. 07:55.200 --> 07:59.280 And it says that no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 07:59.280 --> 08:00.820 And so that would include me. 08:00.820 --> 08:02.000 That would include you. 08:02.000 --> 08:05.680 You know, anything that you do, there's nothing that you can do, whereas you would fall out 08:05.680 --> 08:07.120 of the hand of God. 08:07.120 --> 08:08.120 God is preserving us. 08:08.120 --> 08:09.480 God is protecting us in His hand. 08:10.000 --> 08:15.800 Now, you're there in Romans chapter 8. I'm going to read to you from John chapter 6, 08:15.800 --> 08:18.880 and this is reinforces what John 10 says. It says, 08:18.880 --> 08:23.440 All that the Father give me shall come to me, and him that cometh to me I will know 08:23.440 --> 08:24.160 wise. 08:24.500 --> 08:29.060 Now notice how it says, and no wise cast out, which means for any reason. 08:29.060 --> 08:33.620 So there's nothing that we can do where Jesus Christ would say, you know, cast us out, right? 08:33.620 --> 08:38.340 He knew far before we even got saved, you know, all the sins that we were ever to commit, 08:38.340 --> 08:42.900 our future sins, our past sins, our present sins, because we sin every single day. 08:42.900 --> 08:45.820 And knowing that, having the knowledge of that, you know, the Bible still says that 08:45.820 --> 08:48.260 He will cast us out in no wise. 08:48.260 --> 08:51.340 So for any reason, He will not cast us out. 08:51.340 --> 08:52.500 As I said, not only... 08:52.500 --> 08:56.180 we in Jesus hand but we're also in the hand of the Father. The Bible says that 08:56.180 --> 08:59.900 you know no man is able to pluck them out so we're not able to pluck ourselves 08:59.900 --> 09:05.220 out nobody is able to pluck us out and in old wise means for any reason. Now 09:05.220 --> 09:09.600 you're there Romans chapter 8 look down at verse 38 the Bible says 09:11.500 --> 09:19.260 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come 09:19.740 --> 09:23.580 I want you to remember that and it says in verse 39 nor height nor death 09:23.900 --> 09:29.420 Nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of god, which is in christ jesus our lord 09:29.660 --> 09:34.860 And so notice how it says in verse 38 nor things to come and you know what's included in that our future sins 09:35.180 --> 09:39.420 Right because what's what's to come? We're going to sin tomorrow. You know, we probably already sin today 09:39.500 --> 09:44.760 There's no day that we can go without even sinning one time and so God knowing that beforehand 09:44.760 --> 09:47.580 He still chose to die for us over two thousand years ago 09:47.580 --> 09:54.160 Jesus Christ died for all our sins and knowing very well that we're still gonna sin the Bible says nor things to come that would include 09:54.160 --> 09:56.160 Our future sins because here's the thing 09:56.500 --> 10:00.100 We're gonna sin regardless, right whether you're saved whether you're lost 10:00.100 --> 10:03.540 We're all sinners the Bible says for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God 10:04.700 --> 10:09.500 And so even if we were to backslide, according to the Bible, we would still be saved. 10:09.500 --> 10:13.420 Right? It's not to say that, you know, we should backslide, but the reality is this, 10:13.420 --> 10:19.420 Christians backslide. People fall out of church. People get involved in sin. People start developing 10:19.420 --> 10:24.780 sinful habits or resorting to old habits where it takes them out of the race. And even if we were 10:24.780 --> 10:29.180 to do that, according to the Bible, we would still be saved. The Bible says in Hebrews 10, 10:29.180 --> 10:32.460 it says, for we are not of them that draw back into perdition. 10:32.700 --> 10:34.940 but of them that believed in the saving of the soul. 10:34.940 --> 10:37.820 And so we're never gonna backslide to the point where we're lost, right? 10:37.820 --> 10:40.940 Because again, nobody could pluck us out out of the hand of the Father. 10:41.820 --> 10:47.980 Now go to, go with me if you would to Romans chapter 4, Romans chapter 4. 10:49.000 --> 10:54.120 So the point I'm trying to make this morning, the first point is that eternal security proves 10:54.120 --> 10:59.480 one save always saved. And the reason why we say that this is the gospel is because in order to 10:59.480 --> 11:03.960 get saved you have to believe in the promise of God. The Bible says in hope of eternal life which 11:03.960 --> 11:08.440 God that cannot lie promised before the world began. So if you were to get saved you have to 11:08.440 --> 11:12.840 believe that you can never lose it. If you believe that you can lose it for any reason at all, 11:12.840 --> 11:16.920 for any wise right, you're not believing what God is saying. The Bible says 11:17.000 --> 11:21.900 is that and give me a second here go to I tell you go to Romans chapter 4 11:22.500 --> 11:26.900 The Bible says in Romans chapter 4, look down your bibles at verse number 6, it says, 11:26.900 --> 11:31.620 even as David also described the blessedness of the man unto whom God imputed righteousness 11:31.620 --> 11:35.700 without works. So before I get to the second point, what I'm trying to make here is that the first 11:35.700 --> 11:40.980 point is this, that once we believe on Jesus Christ, on the right Jesus, we have eternal life. 11:40.980 --> 11:45.300 That's it. No man can pluck us out of his hand. The first point I'm making is this, that eternal 11:45.300 --> 11:50.020 life proves one save always saved. The second point that I want to make this morning is that 11:50.020 --> 11:50.500 eternal 11:50.500 --> 11:55.560 security proves that Jesus paid for every single sin. Jesus Christ died for 11:55.560 --> 12:00.340 every single sin. And what we're saying is that this too, that once you believe 12:00.340 --> 12:04.800 on Jesus, the right Jesus, the Jesus of the Bible, not the Jesus of the Mormons 12:04.800 --> 12:09.840 who's the brother of Satan, not the Jesus of the Muslims, right, who just think 12:09.840 --> 12:13.560 he's a prophet or something like that, not the one is Pentecostal Jesus, none of 12:13.560 --> 12:17.200 that. We're believing in Jesus of the Bible, the Son of God, God in the flesh. 12:17.800 --> 12:25.160 So once we believe on Him, we have eternal life. The second point is that eternal security 12:25.160 --> 12:29.480 proves that Jesus paid for every single sin. Now you're still there in Romans chapter 4. 12:30.200 --> 12:33.880 Let's continue reading there. It says in verse number 7, saying, 12:33.880 --> 12:39.000 blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, which would refer to our past sins. 12:39.600 --> 12:43.680 Then it says and whose sins are covered which were referred to our present sins 12:43.680 --> 12:47.720 And it says blessed is the man to whom the Lord would not impute sin 12:47.760 --> 12:53.200 So that shows us that Jesus Christ even paid for our future sins and a lot of people at the door 12:53.200 --> 12:57.800 Sometimes you ask them that question right do you believe that Jesus paid for your sins and they're gonna say of course 12:58.200 --> 13:01.340 But then sometimes you know they wonder you know what if I were to kill myself 13:01.600 --> 13:07.600 What if I were to go and commit murder or adultery the Bible says that you paid for every single? 13:07.600 --> 13:12.160 sin. So any sin that you could think of, you know, it would fall under that category. He 13:12.160 --> 13:16.480 not only paid for the big sins, he paid for the smallest of sins like a white lie. He 13:16.480 --> 13:20.640 paid for every single sin. And that's something that we have to understand. That's something 13:20.640 --> 13:24.920 that people have to believe and not just pay lip service to it because the Bible literally 13:24.920 --> 13:30.420 teach that that he paid for every single sin. Now go to Colossians chapter two, Colossians 13:30.420 --> 13:31.500 chapter 2. 13:31.600 --> 13:36.400 And while you turn down, I'm going to read to you from 1st Peter 2, it says in verse 24, 13:36.400 --> 13:42.800 who is own self bear our sins in his own body on the tree, that we being dead to sins should live 13:42.800 --> 13:48.880 unto righteousness by whose stripes ye were healed. And so we can see here that our sins were placed 13:48.880 --> 13:53.280 on Jesus Christ on the cross and he paid for every single one of them. And that's why the 13:53.280 --> 13:58.880 Bible says that we're justified because when God looks down at us from heaven, he sees us just as 13:58.880 --> 13:59.600 as if we never saw. 13:59.600 --> 14:02.520 He sees us with the righteousness of Jesus Christ. 14:02.520 --> 14:08.760 The Bible also says in 2 Corinthians, who he had made sin for us, who knew no sin, that 14:08.760 --> 14:11.380 we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 14:11.380 --> 14:16.840 And so all our sins were placed on him, his righteousness was placed on us, and so that's 14:16.840 --> 14:21.020 why when God sees us, we're deemed as righteous, which saved. 14:21.020 --> 14:25.500 So in Colossians chapter 2, you're there in Colossians chapter 2, look down on your 14:25.500 --> 14:27.300 Bibles at verse number 13. 14:28.500 --> 14:33.220 The Bible says, and ye being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, 14:33.220 --> 14:38.900 had he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses, blotting out the 14:38.900 --> 14:43.460 handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the 14:43.460 --> 14:48.020 way, nailing it to the cross. And so again, the Bible, this is where it first is that Jesus Christ 14:48.020 --> 14:52.580 paid for every single sin, because it wouldn't make sense if he only paid for our passions, 14:52.580 --> 14:56.260 because then we would still have to pay for make atonement for our future sins. 14:56.500 --> 15:00.220 and we know that that's not possible because once we were sinners you know 15:00.220 --> 15:01.340 we're always gonna sin 15:01.340 --> 15:05.220 where the Bible says there's not a just man upon 15:05.220 --> 15:06.220 there's not a just man upon 15:06.700 --> 15:08.700 How does the verse go? 15:08.700 --> 15:09.700 Nobody finished. 15:09.700 --> 15:12.180 Yeah, if on earth that sin is not and do it good, right? 15:12.180 --> 15:16.340 So there's nobody in this world that can say that they've never sinned or does not sin. 15:16.340 --> 15:20.380 That's why it's very comical when we're at the door and they say, well, I lied when I 15:20.380 --> 15:22.380 was a little kid, right? 15:22.380 --> 15:24.940 Don't you lie more sometimes as an adult? 15:24.940 --> 15:31.260 Sometimes people, because they fear getting in trouble at work or at home or kids, right? 15:31.260 --> 15:33.540 They just fear getting in trouble with their parents. 15:33.540 --> 15:34.540 they resort to lying. 15:34.700 --> 15:38.700 And so it's impossible for anybody to say, you know, with a clear conscience that they 15:38.700 --> 15:40.060 don't lie at all. 15:40.060 --> 15:44.540 So they may not commit bigger sins, but at the end of the day, we still all lie. 15:44.540 --> 15:45.540 Right? 15:45.540 --> 15:49.700 So you're so go with me to James chapter two, go to me and James chapter two. 15:49.700 --> 15:53.620 I'm going to read to you a verse from the Old Testament that also talks about this. 15:53.620 --> 15:59.900 It says in Isaiah 53 verse six, this is all we like sheep have gone astray. 16:00.200 --> 16:05.960 we have turned everyone to his own way and the Lord had laid on him the iniquity of us all. 16:05.960 --> 16:11.400 And so we know that Jesus Christ is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. So even 16:11.400 --> 16:17.240 before we were born, Jesus Christ already knew the sins that we would commit and he still paid for 16:17.240 --> 16:21.800 every single one of them. That's what the Bible says in Romans 5-8, but God commanded his love 16:21.800 --> 16:27.320 toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. And that's a beautiful truth 16:27.320 --> 16:28.120 because we know 16:28.200 --> 16:32.200 and we have that confidence that there's no sin that we could ever commit after 16:32.200 --> 16:35.720 that we get saved where God would say you know what that's it you know I'm 16:35.720 --> 16:38.840 going to take your salvation away because that wouldn't make any sense you 16:38.840 --> 16:42.540 know that would be just temporal life and if God were to do that you know that 16:42.540 --> 16:46.100 would you know that would prove that his promises were not true 16:47.100 --> 16:52.580 Now, James chapter two, if you're there in James chapter two, it says in verse 10, for 16:52.580 --> 16:57.280 whosoever shall keep the whole law and yet offend, and look what it says, in one point 16:57.280 --> 16:58.960 he is guilty of all. 16:58.960 --> 17:03.200 So even if you were to try to commit the whole law, you know, I'm not going to steal, I'm 17:03.200 --> 17:07.700 not going to commit adultery, I'm not going to murder, I'm not going to cover my neighbor's 17:07.700 --> 17:11.300 wife, whatever you want to think of, you know, even if you were to stay away from all these 17:11.300 --> 17:14.400 sins, we still bear false witness sometimes, right? 17:14.400 --> 17:15.100 and we're guilty of. 17:15.100 --> 17:20.700 So there's no sin, there's nothing, no day where we go where we don't sin. 17:20.700 --> 17:23.640 The Bible says that even the thought of foolishness is sin. 17:23.640 --> 17:26.300 And you know, I'll be the first one to admit, you know, sometimes throughout the day you 17:26.300 --> 17:27.740 have dumb thoughts, right? 17:28.100 --> 17:30.980 I mean, anybody else? 17:30.980 --> 17:32.680 But we all struggle with that, right? 17:32.680 --> 17:36.520 You have some dumb thoughts, and the Bible says that even that is sin. 17:36.520 --> 17:40.460 So that just shows us that there's sins that we commit not only with our mind, not only 17:40.460 --> 17:44.320 with the things that we say, the things that we do, there are sins that we commit throughout 17:44.320 --> 17:46.380 the day that we're not even aware of. 17:46.380 --> 17:49.620 And if you've only been to church for a certain amount of time, you don't really know what 17:49.620 --> 17:52.180 the Bible teaches as far as like sins, right? 17:52.180 --> 17:56.060 There's a lot of things that sometimes you're in church and you hear about it for the first 17:56.100 --> 18:00.180 time like long hair on men. How many people would think you know in the world 18:00.180 --> 18:04.620 today that long hair on man is a sin but the Bible clearly teaches that it that 18:04.620 --> 18:08.820 is a sin and that's something as men we have to steer away from right but you 18:08.820 --> 18:12.460 wouldn't know that unless you come to a church that actually preaches the whole 18:12.460 --> 18:13.500 counsel of God. 18:13.500 --> 18:17.100 And so what I'm trying to say here is that, you know, there's no moment in time where 18:17.100 --> 18:18.580 we're not going to sin. 18:18.580 --> 18:22.440 We're going to be sinners to the day that we die because we still have the flesh, we 18:22.440 --> 18:26.900 have the old man, but thanks to the promises of God, we know that he paid for every single 18:26.900 --> 18:27.900 sin. 18:27.900 --> 18:33.380 Now, go with me, if you will, to go to Mark chapter one. 18:33.380 --> 18:34.300 Go to Mark chapter one. 18:35.500 --> 18:39.500 So the title of the sermon this morning is the importance of eternal security. 18:39.500 --> 18:41.500 Why eternal security matters. 18:41.500 --> 18:46.140 And the first point that I made is this, that eternal security proves, once saved, always 18:46.140 --> 18:47.140 saved. 18:47.140 --> 18:50.620 The second point that I made is that eternal security proves that Jesus Christ paid for 18:50.620 --> 18:51.620 every single sin. 18:52.000 --> 18:58.000 Now here's the next thing it proves. Eternal security proves that you don't have to turn away from your sins to be saved. 18:58.000 --> 19:06.000 And this is a heresy that we hear a lot today, right? That you have to turn from your sins, you have to be willing to turn from your sins, 19:06.000 --> 19:10.000 you have to, you know, you can't make a practice of sin, there's all these ways that people try to twist it, 19:10.000 --> 19:16.000 but at the end of the day you will not find a verse in the Bible that says that you have to turn from your sins in order to be saved. 19:17.300 --> 19:20.340 Now to repent means obviously to have a change of mind. 19:20.340 --> 19:23.940 You know, change your mind about what you're trusting in and put your faith on Jesus Christ. 19:23.940 --> 19:28.340 And there's a lot of people today, you know, that they have bad language when it comes to this. 19:28.340 --> 19:31.940 You know, we do go to people at the doors and we tell them that they're sinners 19:31.940 --> 19:35.540 and they have to realize, you know, that they sin against God, that they need a Savior. 19:35.540 --> 19:39.700 But we're not telling them, hey, you need to be willing to forsake your sins in order to be saved. 19:39.700 --> 19:41.220 That's a big difference right there. 19:41.220 --> 19:45.060 And unfortunately, there's a lot of people in churches, in non- 19:45.300 --> 19:50.300 in old IAP churches that give a pass to people that teach this. 19:50.300 --> 19:53.300 And let that not be said that that's somebody like us. 19:53.300 --> 19:55.300 That would be any of us, right? 19:55.300 --> 19:58.300 Giving a pass to people when they teach that you have to turn from your sins. 19:58.300 --> 20:01.300 Maybe you listen to somebody that says some good stuff, right? 20:01.300 --> 20:02.300 Some good advice. 20:02.300 --> 20:05.300 But if they're teaching that you have to turn from your sins in order to be saved, 20:05.300 --> 20:06.300 they're a heretic. 20:07.200 --> 20:11.200 And so let me give you an example of one, probably one of the most famous ones in the 20:11.200 --> 20:13.560 last couple of years, John MacArthur, right? 20:13.560 --> 20:18.360 John MacArthur is a false prophet, and I thank God that he's burning in hell today. 20:18.360 --> 20:22.280 And that offends people sometimes because people like John MacArthur, right? 20:22.280 --> 20:23.640 He's been around for years. 20:23.640 --> 20:24.300 You have... 20:24.300 --> 20:27.300 brother Howes that preached against him. You have 20:27.300 --> 20:31.420 Roland Rasmussen preached against him. That guy's been around for years and 20:31.420 --> 20:35.740 you know he finally died. He's finally in hell and unfortunately he left 20:35.740 --> 20:39.060 back a lot of books that are damning people to hell and that's why it's important 20:39.060 --> 20:42.940 to preach against individuals like this. But listen to what he said in one of his 20:42.940 --> 20:43.500 books 20:43.500 --> 20:47.060 and just the title of the book itself should tell you, you know, should 20:47.060 --> 20:50.700 show you red flags. The title of the book is Hard to Believe. 20:50.700 --> 20:52.300 Is that what we believe in the church? 20:52.300 --> 20:57.600 don't, right? We believe that it's easy to believe, easy belief-ism. And so John 20:57.600 --> 21:02.400 MacArthur in that book, it says salvation for sinners cost God his own son. 21:02.600 --> 21:09.320 It caused God's Son his life and it will cost you the same thing. 21:09.320 --> 21:10.800 So is that salvation? 21:10.800 --> 21:12.760 Us giving our life to Jesus Christ? 21:12.760 --> 21:13.760 No, it's not. 21:13.760 --> 21:16.820 You know, salvation is what Christ did for us. 21:16.820 --> 21:18.200 Not what we can do for Him. 21:18.200 --> 21:20.480 It's not us giving our life to Jesus. 21:20.480 --> 21:24.540 It's the fact that Jesus Christ gave His life for us. 21:24.540 --> 21:27.240 And so John MacArthur is a heretic. 21:27.240 --> 21:28.640 Like I say, he's in hell right now. 21:29.300 --> 21:34.580 and he'll be in hell for all eternity. And so this is a false gospel, the fact that you have to give 21:34.580 --> 21:39.460 your life to Jesus Christ. And we shouldn't use language like that, you know, give your life to 21:39.460 --> 21:44.580 Christ, you know, be a follower of Jesus Christ. These are things obviously that we want to follow 21:44.580 --> 21:50.900 Jesus Christ, but that's not something that we do to get saved. So salvation is not again giving 21:50.900 --> 21:55.300 our life for Christ, it's what Christ did for us, the fact that he gave his life for us. 21:56.100 --> 21:58.220 Let me give you another example. 21:58.220 --> 22:01.560 And this is another false prophet who's still alive, unfortunately, right? 22:01.560 --> 22:02.740 His name is Ray Comfort. 22:02.740 --> 22:06.200 I'm sure a lot of you have seen his videos, you know, the Way of the Master, all this 22:06.200 --> 22:07.200 stuff that he has. 22:07.200 --> 22:09.820 And he's out there never getting people saved, right? 22:09.820 --> 22:13.360 He's out there supposedly soul winning and trying to show people how they're sinners 22:13.360 --> 22:14.860 and this and that, but he never gets them saved. 22:14.860 --> 22:15.860 Why? 22:16.900 --> 22:21.800 So he said in his book it says if you will repent of your sins and put your trust in Jesus 22:21.940 --> 22:26.100 God says he will forgive you all your sins and grant you the gift of everlasting life 22:26.100 --> 22:31.020 And you can see how that's confusing to some people because it's saying that you have to trust in Jesus Christ 22:31.100 --> 22:36.260 He'll give you the gift of everlasting life. But what does he start off if you repent of your sins now? 22:36.260 --> 22:41.060 What does he mean by that forsaking your sins and that's not the gospel. You don't have to forsake your sins to be saved 22:41.700 --> 22:47.580 Then he goes on to say, if you repent, that means to confess and forsake your sins. 22:47.580 --> 22:50.560 So if there in case there was any doubt, you know, I wonder what he means by this. 22:50.560 --> 22:51.560 He puts it in parentheses. 22:51.560 --> 22:56.520 He says, if you repent, that means to confess and forsake your sins and put your trust in 22:56.520 --> 23:01.380 Jesus, then you will not have to suffer God's justice in hell because the payment for your 23:01.380 --> 23:03.860 crimes was made by Jesus on the cross. 23:03.860 --> 23:05.140 And that's what he said. 23:05.140 --> 23:06.860 And that's a false narrative, right? 23:06.860 --> 23:09.700 the fact that you have to forsake your sin in order to. 23:09.700 --> 23:15.140 be saved. You just have to believe on Jesus Christ, that's it. Now you're there 23:15.140 --> 23:19.460 in Mark chapter 1, look down on your Bibles at verse number 4. The Bible says 23:19.460 --> 23:23.980 John did baptize in the wilderness and preach the baptism of repentance for 23:23.980 --> 23:28.220 the remission of sins. And so here we see obviously the word is used throughout 23:28.220 --> 23:31.620 the Bible of repenting, but we have to look at the context. You know, what does 23:31.620 --> 23:34.860 God mean by repenting in this passage? And they always bring up verses like 23:34.860 --> 23:36.600 that, having to repent. 23:36.800 --> 23:41.800 and all this, but it's never in the context of salvation. 23:41.800 --> 23:43.520 And if we have to repent of our sins, 23:43.520 --> 23:47.440 we have to ask the question, what sins do we have to repent of? 23:47.440 --> 23:48.800 Is it the small sins? 23:48.800 --> 23:50.320 Is it the bigger sins? 23:50.320 --> 23:54.040 Is it the sins that I'm continuously doing? 23:54.040 --> 23:55.840 How many sins do I have to repent of? 23:55.840 --> 23:59.000 And that just shows you, if you use some logic and common sense, 23:59.000 --> 24:01.400 it's impossible to forsake every single sin. 24:01.400 --> 24:01.700 Right. 24:02.600 --> 24:06.760 Now go to 1 John chapter 3, 1 John chapter 3. 24:06.760 --> 24:14.200 I'm going to read to you from Acts 19 verse 4 that explains to us what the baptism of repentance is. 24:14.200 --> 24:19.160 And it says, Then said Paul, John barely baptized with the baptism of repentance. 24:19.200 --> 24:24.000 And look what it says, it says, saying unto the people that they should believe on him, 24:24.000 --> 24:29.600 which should come after him, that is on Christ Jesus. So what was John the Baptist preaching? 24:29.600 --> 24:33.520 The same thing that the Baptists today are preaching, believing on the name of Jesus Christ. 24:35.040 --> 24:38.640 Now in 1 John chapter 3, look down your Bibles at verse number 9. 24:40.200 --> 24:45.480 It says, whosoever is born of God does not commit sin, for his seed remaineth in him, 24:45.480 --> 24:49.480 and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 24:49.480 --> 24:52.720 Let me read to you from a modern version, not that I have it, this is the King James 24:52.720 --> 24:53.720 Bible. 24:53.720 --> 24:54.400 I don't want to scare anybody. 24:55.000 --> 25:01.800 KJV. But let me read to you from the NIV and a lot of confusion comes because people use 25:01.800 --> 25:05.480 a false version of the Bible. That's why it's important to stick to the King James, the Word 25:05.480 --> 25:12.200 of God in English. So in the NIV it says, no one who is born of God will continue to sin 25:12.200 --> 25:17.880 because God's seed remains in them. They cannot go on sinning because they have been born of God. 25:17.880 --> 25:22.760 The ESV, another false version says, no one born of God makes a practice of sin 25:23.000 --> 25:28.240 where God's seed abides in him and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of 25:28.240 --> 25:31.760 God. And so that's why a lot of people today are mixed up when it comes to salvation because 25:31.760 --> 25:35.880 they're reading a false version. You know, they read stuff like cannot make a practice 25:35.880 --> 25:41.240 of sin, cannot continue sinning. And salvation for one is not a process, right? It's not 25:41.240 --> 25:46.040 that we're being saved like the New King James says, we are saved. And that's why a lot of 25:46.040 --> 25:49.500 confusion comes from these modern versions because people think, you know, when it says 25:49.500 --> 25:50.860 born of God does not commit. 25:51.000 --> 25:55.100 sin, of course we still sin, right? But what it's referring to is that the Spirit of God 25:55.100 --> 25:59.620 that lives within us, our new man does not commit sin. When we walk in the Spirit, the 25:59.620 --> 26:03.680 Bible says, walk in the Spirit and you should not fulfill the lust of the flesh. So we're 26:03.680 --> 26:07.780 in the Spirit, of course we're not sinning against God, but we still have the old man. 26:07.780 --> 26:11.780 We still have the flesh. And you know, there's a lot of podcasts out there. 26:12.200 --> 26:16.840 that, you know, it's good for enjoyment in the sense of like you see what other people believe 26:16.840 --> 26:21.640 and they always bring up this fact, you know, how can God still grant us eternal life if we continue 26:21.640 --> 26:26.200 sinning? I'm thinking of one of George Janko, I don't know if some of you guys are familiar with it, 26:26.200 --> 26:30.440 but he always has these heretics on there and he himself, he's not saved because anytime, 26:30.440 --> 26:35.400 you know, he's talking about salvation, he's always referring to how he still has to, you know, keep 26:35.400 --> 26:40.040 the commandments. He doesn't say it straight out like that, but that's what he implies. Why? So you could have a fighting chance to walk in the 27:13.120 --> 27:16.200 Spirit to know what God wants from you. But if you're constantly just, you know, 27:16.200 --> 27:20.560 listening to worldly music, watching worldly shows, you know, out in the work 27:20.560 --> 27:23.580 field, you're just making like all these bad jokes, you're still gonna be in the 27:23.580 --> 27:27.000 flesh, you're still gonna sin. The point I'm trying to make is that when the Bible 27:27.000 --> 27:30.600 says that does not commit sin, it's referring to our spirit. We don't sin 27:30.600 --> 27:35.800 with the new man. Now go to Romans chapter 7. Go to Romans chapter 7. 27:40.100 --> 27:41.700 Go to Romans chapter 7. 27:42.400 --> 27:45.880 And if you're there, look down at your Bibles at verse number 14. 27:45.880 --> 27:51.200 The Bible says, for we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. 27:51.200 --> 27:53.360 For that which I do, I allow not. 27:53.360 --> 27:55.880 For what I would, that do I not. 27:55.880 --> 27:58.260 But what I hate, that I do. 27:58.260 --> 27:59.260 That do I. 27:59.260 --> 28:03.220 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 28:03.220 --> 28:07.000 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 28:07.000 --> 28:10.400 For I know that in me that is in my flesh dwelleth no 28:10.400 --> 28:15.400 good thing for to will is present with me but how to perform it that which is 28:15.400 --> 28:19.160 good I find not now I'm not gonna repeat that because that's always a tongue 28:19.160 --> 28:22.360 twister for everybody but you know basically what Paul is saying is the 28:22.360 --> 28:26.160 struggle that we would all agree that we go through day to day the fact that the 28:26.160 --> 28:29.200 things that we want to do which are spiritual things we don't always do it 28:29.200 --> 28:30.400 right 28:30.600 --> 28:34.200 I don't always wake up with the desire, you know, every morning, especially if you're 28:34.200 --> 28:37.360 tired to read my Bible, but you have to do it, right? 28:37.360 --> 28:39.440 You don't always wake up with the desire of coming to church. 28:39.440 --> 28:41.640 You know, some of you guys look like you just rolled out a bit. 28:41.640 --> 28:42.720 No, I'm just kidding. 28:42.720 --> 28:45.360 But you don't always wake up with that desire, right? 28:45.360 --> 28:48.520 You know, these are things that you have to purposely... 28:49.800 --> 28:54.680 form that discipline and say you know what Sundays are for church right these are things that the 28:54.680 --> 29:01.000 spiritual man desires but you know what the the the old man desires to sleep in right it desires 29:01.000 --> 29:07.080 to just chill at home you know watch cartoons but you know just be at you know just be lazy sometimes 29:07.080 --> 29:12.440 but the spirit you know it desires good things it desires to read the Bible it desires to be 29:12.440 --> 29:17.560 among God's people it desires to be in church to preach the gospel these are all good things 29:17.800 --> 29:22.800 that the spiritual man has, but we're not always in the spirit, which is why we're not always doing them. 29:22.800 --> 29:28.800 And so here we see the fact that even the greatest Christian, some would say, which is Paul, he struggled within himself. 29:28.800 --> 29:32.800 And are we not a lot like Paul? We struggle every day. 29:32.800 --> 29:36.800 You know, this is a continued battle that we're going to have until we have our glorified body. 29:36.800 --> 29:41.800 And so go with me, if you would, to John chapter 1. 29:41.800 --> 29:43.700 John chapter 1. 29:44.900 --> 29:48.580 I'm going to read to you from Galatians chapter 5, another verse that has to do with this. 29:48.580 --> 29:53.300 It says, This I say then, walk in the spirit, and you should not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 29:53.300 --> 29:58.820 For the flesh lusted against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh. And these are contrary 29:58.820 --> 30:04.180 the one to the other, so that you cannot do the things that you would. And so we see there again 30:04.180 --> 30:08.900 that constant battle with between us. We have the flesh, the spirit, and they're constantly just 30:08.900 --> 30:10.300 battling within us. 30:11.000 --> 30:19.440 And it's up to us to be in church to be able to have like I said that fighting chance to be able to renew our mind to know what God expects from us. 30:19.440 --> 30:23.300 That's why a lot of people, you know, they live their lives and they don't know what the Bible says. 30:23.300 --> 30:26.000 They don't get godly counsel. They're just living like the world. 30:26.000 --> 30:32.500 You know, there's no difference. You know, when you look at their life and what they're doing, their aspirations or dreams or goals, there's no difference. 30:32.500 --> 30:34.800 Why? Because they haven't renewed their mind. 30:34.800 --> 30:39.000 They haven't brought themselves to think biblically and put their life. 30:39.000 --> 30:46.660 thinking in align with the Bible. Now you're there in John chapter 1, give me a 30:46.660 --> 30:49.300 second, John chapter 1. 30:50.100 --> 30:53.540 We said the title of the sermon this morning is the importance of eternal security. 30:53.540 --> 30:56.580 The first point is that it proves one save all we save. 30:56.580 --> 30:59.540 Second, it proves that Jesus paid for all our sins. 30:59.540 --> 31:02.980 It also proves that we don't have to turn from our sins to be saved. 31:02.980 --> 31:07.620 Here's the fourth thing that eternal security proves. It proves that we are the children of God. 31:08.100 --> 31:12.380 Now here's the thing, obviously we're all created by God, but not everybody is a child 31:12.380 --> 31:13.380 of God. 31:13.380 --> 31:14.580 And the Bible makes that very clear. 31:14.580 --> 31:17.500 That's why I hate it, well you're not going to say nothing at the door, but when they 31:17.500 --> 31:21.860 say we're all brothers, we all serve the same God, if that guy's a Catholic, that ain't 31:21.860 --> 31:22.600 my brother, right? 31:23.700 --> 31:28.140 So, in John chapter 1, look down at verse number 12, the Bible says, 31:28.140 --> 31:33.660 But as many as receive them, to them gave the power to become the sons of God, 31:33.660 --> 31:35.940 even to them that believe on his name. 31:35.940 --> 31:37.940 And again, we see it over and over again. 31:37.940 --> 31:41.060 What's the requirement? Believing on his name. 31:41.060 --> 31:45.100 And once we do that, the Bible says that he gave power to become the sons of God. 31:45.100 --> 31:49.500 So it is at that moment of salvation that you become a child of God. 31:49.800 --> 31:51.480 Go to Hebrews chapter 12. 31:51.480 --> 31:52.840 Go to Hebrews chapter 12. 31:52.840 --> 31:56.480 I'm going to read to you from 1 John chapter 3 verse 1 says, 31:56.480 --> 31:59.440 Behold, what manner of love the Father had bestowed upon us, 31:59.440 --> 32:02.000 that we should be called the sons of God. 32:02.000 --> 32:05.240 Therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 32:05.240 --> 32:08.160 And so again, once you trust in Jesus Christ, 32:08.160 --> 32:10.160 you become a child of God. 32:10.500 --> 32:16.000 And because you're a child of God, now you're able to receive that chastisement from Jesus Christ, right? 32:16.000 --> 32:21.380 Because the Bible says in Hebrews 12, look down to verse number 6, 32:21.380 --> 32:23.000 Hebrews 12 verse number 6, it says, 32:23.000 --> 32:28.180 For whom the Lord loveth, he chasteneth, and scourgeeth every son whom he receiveth. 32:28.180 --> 32:32.380 And ye endure, if ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as sons. 32:32.380 --> 32:35.420 For what son is he whom the Father chastesteth not? 32:35.500 --> 32:40.660 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards and 32:40.660 --> 32:41.660 not sons." 32:41.660 --> 32:44.900 So if you're not being chastised by God, it clearly says right there that you're bastards, 32:44.900 --> 32:46.420 right, and not sons. 32:46.420 --> 32:52.140 And God, being our heavenly Father, He doesn't want to see us going down the wrong path. 32:52.140 --> 32:55.620 That's why if we were to get involved in sin, you know, God will chastise you. 32:55.620 --> 33:00.420 God will discipline you, you know, spiritually spank you to make sure that you get back on 33:00.420 --> 33:01.940 the right track. 33:01.940 --> 33:03.500 And us as parents, you know, if you have children, 33:03.500 --> 33:07.000 children, you know this to be true. You know, we try to raise our children in such a way 33:07.000 --> 33:12.000 so that they can be, you know, good kids. And the way that we do that often requires 33:12.000 --> 33:16.240 spanks, right? If they're doing something that's not right, if they're going down a 33:16.240 --> 33:20.540 bad path, you know, they're going to get spanked, right? So that they can do what's right. It's 33:20.540 --> 33:24.000 not that we spank them as parents because, you know, oh, I just hate this child so much, 33:24.000 --> 33:27.680 I'm just going to give them a good one. You know, a lot of people hope that 33:31.500 --> 33:34.180 Hopefully in here you grew up getting spanked, right? 33:34.180 --> 33:37.540 If you're in church today, I'm pretty sure you got spanked, right? 33:37.540 --> 33:40.860 Because people out there, grown adults who are spoiled brats, you know, just throwing 33:40.860 --> 33:44.100 fits, acting like little kids, I guarantee you they weren't spanked as a child. 33:44.100 --> 33:47.600 And if they were, they probably weren't spanked hard enough. 33:47.600 --> 33:51.940 So Hebrews 12 just shows us because we're children of God, we're going to get disciplined 33:51.940 --> 33:54.120 and chastised by God. 33:54.120 --> 33:56.740 Now go to Romans chapter 6. 33:56.740 --> 33:57.740 Romans chapter 6. 33:58.400 --> 34:03.600 I'm going to read to you from Psalm 89, Romans chapter 6, you turn there. 34:04.200 --> 34:09.000 It says in Psalm 89 and verse 30, if his children forsake my law and walk not in my judgments, 34:09.000 --> 34:13.080 if they break my statues and keep not my commandments, then will I visit their 34:13.080 --> 34:18.760 transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless, my loving kindness 34:19.560 --> 34:25.080 will I not utterly take from him nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. My covenant will I not 34:25.080 --> 34:30.760 break nor alter the thing that has gone out of my lips. And so regardless, if we sin or not, 34:30.760 --> 34:31.760 which we are. 34:32.200 --> 34:34.600 discipline us, but what does it say nevertheless? 34:35.000 --> 34:39.600 It says, nevertheless, my loving kind is why I not utterly take from him. 34:39.600 --> 34:44.000 So even though we're getting chastised, that's just God's showing us that he loves us, he 34:44.000 --> 34:45.460 wants us to do what's right. 34:45.460 --> 34:46.460 Why? 34:46.460 --> 34:47.460 Because we're his children. 34:47.460 --> 34:50.000 But we will not lose our salvation. 34:50.000 --> 34:51.000 We will not go to hell. 34:51.000 --> 34:55.520 And the Bible teaches that the children of God, if you're saved, you know, you do suffer 34:55.520 --> 34:59.680 consequences, but the difference is this, that every consequence that we receive from 34:59.680 --> 35:02.620 God will be in this life, will be in this earth. 35:02.620 --> 35:03.000 And that's some. 35:03.000 --> 35:06.040 that we always clear up at the doors and it makes sense for them, it clicks. You know, 35:06.040 --> 35:10.280 because oftentimes it obviously if Jesus paid for our sins and there's no sin that could send us 35:10.280 --> 35:14.920 to hell, then you know what happens if we sin? If we're not going to hell, that doesn't change the 35:14.920 --> 35:19.320 fact that we're still going to receive consequences in this life. And that helps people understand 35:19.320 --> 35:24.120 like okay that makes sense because although I'm going to heaven, you know, I should still want 35:24.120 --> 35:27.400 to do what's right so I could avoid getting spanked by God. 35:28.800 --> 35:33.280 Now the first thing I said, the first point I made is that eternal security proves one 35:33.280 --> 35:34.640 thing, well we save. 35:34.640 --> 35:37.680 It proves that Jesus died for every single sin. 35:37.680 --> 35:41.500 It proves that we don't have to turn from our sins to be saved. 35:41.500 --> 35:44.440 And then lastly I said that it proves that we are the children of God. 35:44.440 --> 35:49.840 Now here's the fifth thing it proves, eternal security proves salvation is a gift and not 35:49.840 --> 35:51.720 a reward. 35:51.720 --> 35:53.360 Salvation is a gift and not a reward. 35:53.800 --> 35:59.000 You're there in Romans chapter 6, familiar verse, it says in verse 23, for the wages of sin is death. 35:59.560 --> 36:05.320 And then look at the second part, it says, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ 36:05.320 --> 36:11.080 our Lord. And so we know that God gives us the gift of eternal life and it's only through Jesus. 36:11.080 --> 36:15.800 It's not through the church, it's not through your baptism, it's not through how well you keep the 36:15.800 --> 36:19.480 commandments, it's through Jesus Christ and His sacrifice alone. 36:20.900 --> 36:25.940 So God gives us that gift and like any other gift there's no conditions attached to it. 36:25.940 --> 36:29.540 There's nothing that we can do or have to do in order to get it. 36:30.740 --> 36:34.900 The Bible says right there, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 36:34.900 --> 36:39.000 Now go with me if you went to Romans chapter four. Romans chapter four. 36:41.600 --> 36:46.160 And so obviously when we receive a gift, even in an earthly sense, if I were to give somebody 36:46.160 --> 36:49.040 a gift, you know, I'm the one that pays for it. 36:49.040 --> 36:50.040 Okay. 36:50.040 --> 36:51.560 And all you have to do is receive it. 36:51.560 --> 36:55.940 And the same way that's the way that God gives us that gift, you know, he paid for it by 36:55.940 --> 36:57.720 the death of his son on the cross. 36:57.720 --> 37:02.560 And all we're doing is just receiving it by believing in his son. 37:02.560 --> 37:04.720 If you're there in Romans chapter four. 37:05.100 --> 37:08.100 I'm going to read to you from Romans chapter 5 before going to... 37:08.100 --> 37:09.600 Romans chapter 5 verse 18 says, 37:09.600 --> 37:14.900 Therefore, as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation, 37:14.900 --> 37:22.800 even so by the righteousness of one, the free gift came upon all men to justification of life. 37:23.400 --> 37:26.760 And if you're there in Romans chapter four, look down on your Bibles in verse number four, 37:26.760 --> 37:31.880 it says, Now to him that worketh not, sorry, now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of 37:31.880 --> 37:36.920 grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, 37:36.920 --> 37:41.640 his faith is counted for righteousness. And so we see the difference there. If you're working for it, 37:41.640 --> 37:47.080 it's not a reward. It's not a gift. It's a reward. It's something that you earn by the things that 37:47.080 --> 37:51.320 you do. And the Bible makes it clear that salvation is not a reward. It's a gift. 37:51.400 --> 37:56.240 gift. Now granted we could get rewards if we serve Jesus Christ right the Bible 37:56.240 --> 38:00.240 says in Ephesians 2 for by grace are you saved through faith and it says and that 38:00.240 --> 38:05.000 not of yourselves it is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast 38:05.000 --> 38:08.120 so I don't know how many times the Bible has to say over and over again that 38:08.120 --> 38:15.080 salvation is not of works you know it's the gift of God. Now go to with me if you 38:15.080 --> 38:18.000 would to Romans chapter 11 Romans chapter 11 38:18.700 --> 38:20.700 As I said, a gift is something that's free. 38:20.700 --> 38:24.700 No conditions, it's unearned, it's ours to keep no matter what. 38:24.700 --> 38:26.400 And as a believer... 38:26.800 --> 38:31.360 Salvation being a gift, you're still able to earn rewards by the things that you do. 38:31.360 --> 38:34.480 You know, anything that you do as unto the Lord, I'm sure God will reward you. 38:34.480 --> 38:39.280 The Bible says in Ephesians 2 10, for we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus 38:39.280 --> 38:43.600 unto good works which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. 38:43.600 --> 38:48.800 So of course, God wants us to do works. God wants us to serve them, but not for salvation. 38:48.800 --> 38:53.040 You know, anything that you do when you get people saved, when you get people the gospel, 38:53.040 --> 38:54.560 God will reward you for that. 38:54.800 --> 38:58.760 And that makes God a great God because not only did he give us the gift of salvation 38:58.760 --> 39:02.480 for free without ever earning it, but he's even willing to reward us for the things that 39:02.480 --> 39:03.760 we do after that. 39:03.760 --> 39:07.360 So that's why it's important to get in a good church so that you're able to get equipped, 39:07.360 --> 39:08.360 right? 39:08.360 --> 39:12.840 To learn the Bible, to learn how to preach the gospel so that you can earn some rewards. 39:12.840 --> 39:16.480 And if you're in this church this morning, and first of all, if you're not saved, get 39:16.480 --> 39:17.480 saved today. 39:17.480 --> 39:20.920 But if you're saved, you know, it's time to earn some rewards, right? 39:20.920 --> 39:22.760 You don't want to live a life without purpose. 39:22.800 --> 39:28.160 without ever doing anything for God, you know, it would be a sad reality to go throughout your whole life 39:28.160 --> 39:33.200 and never getting one person saved. You don't need works to get saved 42:05.640 --> 42:09.560 You don't need worse to stay safe and you don't need words to prove that you're saved 42:09.560 --> 42:12.360 All you have to do is just believe on Jesus Christ 42:12.440 --> 42:16.600 There's a lot of people pay lip service to this that yeah, of course salvation is not of works 42:16.680 --> 42:18.200 But if you don't have works 42:18.200 --> 42:22.580 you're really safe right then they do believe that it takes works and we got 42:22.580 --> 42:26.200 to be careful with how we word things you know just make it clear as the Bible 42:26.200 --> 42:30.720 makes it clear not of works as any man should boast for any reason now if you're 42:30.720 --> 42:33.300 there in Romans chapter 11 look down verse number six 42:34.300 --> 42:37.420 The Bible says, and if by grace, then it is no more of works. 42:37.420 --> 42:39.820 Otherwise grace is no more grace. 42:39.820 --> 42:43.020 But if it be of works, then is it no more grace? 42:43.020 --> 42:45.340 Otherwise work is no more work. 42:45.340 --> 42:47.020 And so it's saying there, it can't be both. 42:47.020 --> 42:50.780 It's either salvation is by works or salvation is by grace. 42:50.780 --> 42:52.620 If it's by grace, then it's not of works. 42:52.620 --> 42:54.540 If it's by works, then it's not of grace. 42:54.540 --> 42:55.820 There's no other way to put it. 42:55.820 --> 42:59.260 You know, eternal security proves that, that it's not of works. 42:59.260 --> 43:02.220 Because if it was based on our works, then... 43:02.300 --> 43:05.740 we can't really know if we're saved, can we? Right? How do you know when you've done enough 43:05.740 --> 43:09.940 works? How do you know when you've been good enough? And it's only because it's reliant 43:09.940 --> 43:14.260 on the fact that Jesus Christ paid for every single sin that we know that we have eternal 43:14.260 --> 43:18.220 life. That's why it is good news. And people that don't, that believe that it's based on 43:18.220 --> 43:21.860 their works, they'll never know whether or not they're saved. You could ask any one of 43:21.860 --> 43:25.180 them, any religion, you know, do they, are they a hundred percent sure going to heaven? 43:25.180 --> 43:27.860 They're not going to give you a hundred percent. And if they say a hundred percent, they're 43:27.860 --> 43:30.300 lying because when you ask them what do you trust in what do you 43:30.300 --> 43:33.940 believe it takes they're gonna say well I'm a pretty good person right so they 43:33.940 --> 43:37.260 don't believe that it's not of works and I'm thankful it's not of works because 43:37.260 --> 43:41.140 none of us would make it to heaven if it was based on that. Now go to Galatians 43:41.140 --> 43:47.800 chapter 2 Galatians chapter 2 and again not of works that includes 43:48.500 --> 43:50.700 It doesn't require you to be baptized. 43:50.700 --> 43:52.600 You should get baptized after salvation, 43:52.600 --> 43:54.600 but even if you were to not get baptized, 43:54.600 --> 43:55.940 you would still go to heaven. 43:55.940 --> 43:58.060 It's not based on church sacraments. 43:58.060 --> 44:00.100 It's not based on anything religious 44:00.100 --> 44:00.940 that you could think of. 44:00.940 --> 44:02.880 It's definitely not based on the Eucharist, right? 44:02.880 --> 44:05.500 It's just based on believing on Jesus Christ. 44:05.500 --> 44:07.460 And I'm thankful God put, you know, 44:07.460 --> 44:09.040 the example of the thief on the cross, 44:09.040 --> 44:10.540 the story of the thief on the cross in the Bible, 44:10.540 --> 44:14.060 because that just disproves every single argument about it. 44:14.060 --> 44:16.020 And they like to say, well, that's just an example. 44:16.020 --> 44:16.500 You know, that's... 44:16.500 --> 44:20.060 the exception not the rule. No that just proves over and over again what the 44:20.060 --> 44:26.420 Bible teaches that salvation is only by faith. So in Galatians chapter 2 verse 16 44:26.420 --> 44:30.400 it says knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law 44:31.300 --> 44:36.100 And it says, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that 44:36.100 --> 44:40.740 we might be justified by the faith of Christ and not by the works of the law for by the 44:40.740 --> 44:43.660 works of the law shall no flesh be justified. 44:43.660 --> 44:45.260 And so how many other ways can it put it? 44:45.260 --> 44:49.940 You know, saying it out, we're not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith. 44:49.940 --> 44:53.060 And it says we're justified by faith and not the works of the law. 44:53.060 --> 44:56.180 So let's just keep saying it over and over and says, for by the worst of law shall no 44:56.180 --> 44:57.380 flesh be justified. 44:57.800 --> 45:04.040 And I'm going to read to you from Romans 3 while I do that, go to James chapter 2, James chapter 2. 45:05.000 --> 45:10.920 In Romans 3 it says, To declare I say at this time his righteousness that he might be just 45:10.920 --> 45:14.280 and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 45:14.280 --> 45:15.280 Where is bolstering then? 45:15.280 --> 45:16.400 It is excluded. 45:16.400 --> 45:17.400 By what law? 45:17.400 --> 45:18.400 Of works? 45:18.400 --> 45:20.440 Nay, but by the law of faith. 45:20.440 --> 45:26.720 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. 45:26.720 --> 45:29.880 Over and over again, without the deeds of the law, by faith. 45:30.200 --> 45:34.100 You're there in James chapter 2, look down your Bibles at verse number 26, the 45:34.100 --> 45:40.380 Bible says, for as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. 45:40.380 --> 45:44.980 And isn't this what people always bring up, you know, at the door, at your workplace, 45:44.980 --> 45:48.820 wherever you're trying to give the gospel, you know, when you say it's not a works, yeah, 45:48.820 --> 45:52.180 but if you don't have works, you know, you have a dead faith, you don't have genuine 45:52.180 --> 45:56.780 faith, and people like using these terms like, oh, he doesn't have saving faith. 45:57.100 --> 45:59.380 you know, or if you're truly saved. 45:59.380 --> 46:00.740 You know, when they say things like that, 46:00.740 --> 46:02.300 they're relying on their works. 46:02.300 --> 46:04.060 And they like to pull out James 2, 46:04.060 --> 46:06.860 but we know that James 2 is not talking about salvation. 46:06.860 --> 46:09.220 First of all, it's talking about to the believer. 46:09.220 --> 46:12.860 And we know that our works do not justify us before God. 46:12.860 --> 46:14.260 It does justify us before men 46:14.260 --> 46:15.580 because they can't see our heart. 46:15.580 --> 46:18.260 But whether or not we have works, we still have faith. 46:18.260 --> 46:19.100 It still exists. 46:19.100 --> 46:19.940 It's just dead. 46:20.100 --> 46:25.940 Right? So we should have works in order to help the brethren in order to earn rewards, 46:25.940 --> 46:30.580 but having no works does not prove that you don't have faith. Because the Bible clearly gives us an 46:30.580 --> 46:36.260 example of somebody in the Bible that had no works, yet was saved. The Bible says in Romans 4, 46:36.260 --> 46:41.380 but to him that worketh not, he had no works, but believeth on him that justifyeth the ungodly. 46:41.380 --> 46:43.860 It says his faith is counted for righteousness. 46:44.300 --> 46:49.180 So even though James says they don't contradict each other, you know, we should have works to help our brethren 46:49.300 --> 46:53.180 But even if we don't have works God sees our heart. It says that our faith 46:53.700 --> 46:59.500 Is what justifies us and I go to Romans chapter 4. I'm gonna read to you some verses there 47:00.180 --> 47:02.260 I'm gonna read to you from Titus 3 5 47:03.600 --> 47:09.800 reinforcing this, it says, not by works of righteousness, which we have done, but according 47:09.800 --> 47:16.280 to his mercy, he saved us by the washing of generation and renewing of the Holy Ghost. 47:16.280 --> 47:20.100 So again, it says not by works of righteousness, which we have done, but according to his mercy, 47:20.100 --> 47:21.100 he saved us. 47:21.100 --> 47:25.480 In Romans 4, look down your bibles at verse number 2, it says, for if Abraham were justified 47:25.480 --> 47:29.880 by works, he had were of to glory, but not before God. 47:29.880 --> 47:31.600 for what saved the scripture, Abraham 47:31.600 --> 47:36.400 believe God and it was counted unto him for righteousness and then it goes on to 47:36.400 --> 47:39.760 the verse that we said but to him that worketh not but believeth on him that 47:39.760 --> 47:43.800 just of the Ingalis his faith is counted for righteousness so I think that makes 47:43.800 --> 47:47.400 it very clear that it's not of works there's so many verses in the Bible that 47:47.400 --> 47:51.040 you can prove you know to people that it's not of works and at the end of the 47:51.040 --> 47:55.360 day you know it's just common sense it's logic it's just taking the value of the 47:55.360 --> 47:58.560 Bible at face value and it's not that they don't understand it they just don't 47:58.560 --> 47:59.600 want to believe it 48:00.400 --> 48:03.240 Now, go to 1 John chapter 5. 48:03.240 --> 48:04.740 1 John chapter 5. 48:06.200 --> 48:10.680 So again, the title of the sermon this morning was the importance of eternal security. 48:10.680 --> 48:12.800 And this is an important doctrine. 48:12.800 --> 48:16.240 It's something that we constantly have to hit on because we don't want to be a church 48:16.240 --> 48:21.120 where we have people who are mixed up in their doctrine, in their language. 48:21.120 --> 48:24.640 We want to make it clear that eternal security means one save, always saved. 48:24.640 --> 48:28.120 You know, the first thing it proves is that you cannot lose your salvation once you've 48:28.120 --> 48:29.120 always saved. 48:29.120 --> 48:31.520 It proves that Jesus paid for our sins. 48:31.520 --> 48:34.160 proves that we don't have to turn from our sins to be... 48:34.200 --> 48:39.520 save. It also proves that we are the children of God. It proves that salvation is a gift 48:39.520 --> 48:44.800 and not a reward. And it proves that salvation is not of works. That's all in the beginning. 48:44.800 --> 48:50.440 I did have a bonus point, which is the seventh point. And this is what happens if you deny 48:50.440 --> 48:55.720 eternal security. If you deny eternal security, that tells God that you don't believe what 48:55.720 --> 49:00.500 he said. That tells God that you think he's a liar. You think he's a bold-faced liar. 49:00.500 --> 49:02.200 You're making God a liar if you deny. 49:02.200 --> 49:06.320 eternal security and you don't want to do that right when people you know you 49:06.320 --> 49:09.920 listen to people that just deny once they've always saved it's not only that 49:09.920 --> 49:14.320 they're denying it they're calling God a liar all right and we know that God is 49:14.320 --> 49:17.800 not a man that he should lie and in 1st John chapter 5 look down your bibles in 49:17.800 --> 49:21.400 verse number 10 it says he that believeth on the Son 49:21.700 --> 49:27.320 God hath the witness in himself and he that believe it not God had made him a liar 49:27.540 --> 49:30.620 Because he believed not the record that God gave of his son 49:30.620 --> 49:36.620 And this is the record that God had given to us eternal life and his life is in his son 49:36.740 --> 49:40.640 He that hath the son of hath life and he that had not the son of God 49:40.740 --> 49:45.780 Hath not life and so we see here that if you deny eternal security 49:45.780 --> 49:49.660 You're not believing the record that God gave of his son.
