WEBVTT

00:00.000 --> 00:02.480
hear these truths and apply them to our lives in Jesus name we pray amen.

00:04.080 --> 00:08.000
Amen. All right well I just want to start off by thanking Pastor Mejia for

00:08.000 --> 00:12.240
giving me an opportunity to preach and I know Pastor Brother Mark was mentioned pastor in his

00:12.240 --> 00:16.320
prayer so I'm gonna need to come up again to pray but I'm just kidding but the title of the

00:16.320 --> 00:22.240
sermon this evening is Don't Be a Usurper. Don't Be a Usurper and you're there in second Samuel

00:22.240 --> 00:26.000
chapter 15 and look down your Bibles at verse number one the Bible says

00:26.500 --> 00:32.300
And it came to pass after this that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses and fifty men to run before him.

00:32.300 --> 00:35.700
And Absalom rose up early and stood beside the way of the gate.

00:35.700 --> 00:39.700
And it was so that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment,

00:39.700 --> 00:42.700
then Absalom called unto him and said, Of what city art thou?

00:42.700 --> 00:45.400
And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.

00:45.400 --> 00:50.800
And Absalom said unto him, See thy matters are good and right, but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee.

00:50.800 --> 00:54.400
And Absalom said, Moreover, O that I were made judge in the land,

00:54.500 --> 00:58.660
that every man which had any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice."

00:58.660 --> 01:00.900
And as I said in the beginning that the title of the sermon is,

01:00.900 --> 01:02.420
Don't Be a Usurper.

01:02.420 --> 01:06.460
And just as a way of introduction, I just wanted to define what it means to be a usurper.

01:06.460 --> 01:08.060
One of the definitions would be,

01:08.060 --> 01:11.900
someone who ceases an office or a position of power by force,

01:11.900 --> 01:15.140
or without legal right or who is perceived to have done so.

01:15.140 --> 01:18.180
And this is a problem we see nowadays, and we've always seen it, you know,

01:18.180 --> 01:21.940
wicked men in the Bible trying to overthrow the established authority,

01:21.940 --> 01:22.440
undermining.

01:22.500 --> 01:27.380
those that God put over to rule over the people, to lead God's people, the flock of God. And

01:27.380 --> 01:31.660
this is something that we don't want to be characterized as, as somebody undermining

01:31.660 --> 01:37.140
the authority that God has already placed at church, at the workforce, at home. I'm

01:37.140 --> 01:40.980
referring to, you know, the wise usurping the authority of the husbands. In any area

01:40.980 --> 01:44.100
of our life, we don't want to be somebody that usurps authority. You don't want to be

01:44.100 --> 01:48.340
characterized as a usurper. And just as a way introduction, we see in the Bible that

01:48.340 --> 01:50.340
wicked man such as Absalom you

01:50.500 --> 01:52.340
And here he wants to overthrow King David.

01:52.340 --> 01:55.400
He wants to be the one that holds the title King.

01:55.400 --> 01:58.760
And like I said, this is something that we don't want to be characterized as, but we

01:58.760 --> 02:00.660
see this throughout all the Bible.

02:00.660 --> 02:03.620
And one of the examples that I could think of right off the bat is people that want to

02:03.620 --> 02:05.940
be a pastor by any means, right?

02:05.940 --> 02:09.340
And that's one of the positions that people in church, when they go into the ministry,

02:09.340 --> 02:13.700
that's what they hold in a high regards and as they should, you know, being a pastor is

02:13.700 --> 02:14.700
a privilege.

02:14.700 --> 02:18.500
It's something that God has given to the church to oversee it, to instruct his church.

02:18.500 --> 02:22.760
people to teach the people the word of God and there are people that want the

02:22.760 --> 02:26.800
product without the process by any means possible and a lot of times people want

02:26.800 --> 02:30.680
to be a pastor for several reasons but some people are just wicked and they

02:30.680 --> 02:34.200
want to do it for the wrong reasons some of the wrong reasons that a person might

02:34.200 --> 02:38.160
want to be a pastor simply just to have the praise of men you know have people

02:38.160 --> 02:42.160
call them by that title pastor or they want to have some kind of status you

02:42.160 --> 02:46.280
know you know in the new IFB sometimes the pastors are well known because of

02:46.500 --> 02:50.140
Controversial sermons that you know they preach and it's not really that it's controversial

02:50.140 --> 02:54.980
Is that they're preaching the whole counsel of God and a lot of people want that fame they want that you know that

02:55.420 --> 02:59.380
Praise in a way that people you know they have them in high esteem

02:59.380 --> 03:03.880
But they don't want to go through the work that those pastors put in in order to achieve what they have achieved

03:03.880 --> 03:06.240
You know they just want to have that title as pastor

03:06.640 --> 03:14.300
Another reason why people become pastors which is a wrong reason would be to have a large following and just because you become a pastor

03:14.500 --> 03:18.620
mean that you're going to have a large following. You know, not every passer has a large following.

03:18.620 --> 03:20.580
It's really only those that actually put in the work.

03:21.000 --> 03:25.640
And another reason why people want to become a pastor sometimes that would be a wrong reason

03:25.640 --> 03:30.760
is just to have people serve them, right? Have people to do things for them. And these are all

03:30.760 --> 03:34.840
wrong reasons why somebody would want to be a pastor. And oftentimes there's people that,

03:34.840 --> 03:39.400
you know, creep unawares in the church and they want to overthrow what God has already established

03:39.400 --> 03:43.880
in that church. The person that they've put that God has put in that church to be the pastor,

03:43.880 --> 03:45.720
and they themselves want to hold that title.

03:46.500 --> 03:52.340
And so go to second chapter 13.

03:52.600 --> 03:56.520
And so we see that, you know, when it comes to being a pastor, this is all introduction,

03:56.520 --> 04:00.480
the Bible says that this is a true saying, if a man desires the office of a bishop, he

04:00.480 --> 04:02.420
desires a good work.

04:02.420 --> 04:05.720
And so the Bible says that being a pastor is a good work.

04:05.720 --> 04:09.080
It's not only a title, it's something that requires a lot of work.

04:09.080 --> 04:12.400
And a lot of people, unfortunately, they want that title without the process.

04:12.400 --> 04:13.640
They want the product without the process.

04:13.640 --> 04:15.240
They don't want to put in that work.

04:15.240 --> 04:19.520
You see, being a pastor is not only something or somebody that preaches three times a week.

04:19.520 --> 04:20.520
You know, they're putting out...

04:20.600 --> 04:26.600
They're studying the Bible. They're discipling people. They're counseling people. They're helping people with their marriages.

04:26.600 --> 04:32.600
They're teaching people how to give the gospel. They're motivating people. You know, they're challenging people to do better.

04:32.600 --> 04:37.600
And that requires a lot of work. And a person that is a successful pastor, sometimes people look at that and they say,

04:37.600 --> 04:45.600
well, I want that as well. But they don't put in the work, right? If a person has a large following as a pastor is because God has magnified them.

04:45.600 --> 04:48.600
them. God has given them that ability to be able to reach

04:48.600 --> 04:52.700
the masses and it's all because of the work that they put in. You see if you become a

04:52.700 --> 04:56.780
pastor or anybody desires to be a pastor that's not a guarantee that you're going to have

04:56.780 --> 05:01.000
that following. You know you're not going to have the praise of men all the time and

05:01.000 --> 05:05.420
if you're only doing it for that reason you're in it for the wrong reasons. And so here we

05:05.420 --> 05:09.280
see in the beginning that Absalom although he was a wicked individual you know there

05:09.280 --> 05:13.440
are some things that he did in the beginning that we'll go over in chapter 13 but first

05:13.440 --> 05:16.480
First of all, let me just go back to chapter 15 where it says

05:16.600 --> 05:23.080
that in verse number three, actually go back to chapter 15, I know I said go to chapter 13, but go back to chapter 15.

05:23.800 --> 05:26.280
Look down your Bibles at verse number three, it says,

05:26.280 --> 05:29.800
And Absalom said unto him, See thy matters are good and right,

05:29.800 --> 05:32.600
but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee.

05:32.600 --> 05:35.320
Absalom said, Moreover, oh, that I were made judge in the land,

05:35.320 --> 05:40.360
that every man which had any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice.

05:40.360 --> 05:44.360
And so we see here that Absalom is creating basically there's a problem, right?

05:44.360 --> 05:48.120
King David is not hearing your matters. He's not really judging the people.

05:48.120 --> 05:51.000
But if you come unto me, I will see that you get justice.

05:51.000 --> 05:51.800
And so absolutely.

05:51.800 --> 05:55.920
What is he trying to do? He's trying to steal the hearts of the people and this is a lot of things that we see out

05:55.920 --> 05:59.480
In the world, you know when people try to usurp somebody's authority, you know, they go after

06:00.240 --> 06:06.400
The people that are following the person and most of the time they go after people that are simple people that don't have that much

06:06.400 --> 06:10.760
wisdom or the Bible refers to as simple or you know, just dumb simple people

06:10.760 --> 06:17.600
Those are the people that they try to obtain to follow them through flattery through different means and so we hear see we hear

06:17.600 --> 06:19.600
Here we see that absolute is doing

06:19.800 --> 06:25.360
And, you know, this kind of reminds me of the old IB when you have a church, right,

06:25.360 --> 06:29.760
an English ministry, oftentimes a large church, and then other than them they have the senior

06:29.760 --> 06:34.380
pastor and then they have the youth pastor, they have the Spanish pastor, and oftentimes,

06:34.380 --> 06:37.760
you know, the one that's supposed to be calling the shots and making sure everything's in

06:37.760 --> 06:40.840
order is the one that is the pastor of the church.

06:40.840 --> 06:44.960
But then you have the Spanish pastor, you know, doing his own thing, not really listening

06:44.960 --> 06:47.540
to what the pastor wants him to do.

06:47.540 --> 06:47.800
And this is.

06:47.800 --> 06:50.840
something that we see that's not right at all and God is not pleased with that

06:50.840 --> 06:53.560
and I used to hate it you know when there used to be like a church split

06:53.560 --> 06:57.640
and then the Spanish pastor what often would happen is like instead of just

06:57.640 --> 07:02.000
going under some other pastors authority just going back to a different church he

07:02.000 --> 07:05.640
remains a pastor and that's not right because the Bible shows us that you know

07:05.640 --> 07:09.080
churches are supposed to start churches pastors are supposed to send out

07:09.080 --> 07:13.880
pastors but when there's a Spanish pastor that remains a pastor without the

07:13.880 --> 07:15.800
leadership of the main pastor you know that

07:15.800 --> 07:18.280
That's not doing it the way God intended it.

07:18.280 --> 07:21.960
And the people that follow them, you know, I would say they're just simple, they're stupid,

07:21.960 --> 07:24.320
they're not really like knowing what the Bible says.

07:24.320 --> 07:28.800
And they develop this admiration for somebody that at the end of the day proves to be wicked

07:28.800 --> 07:33.400
because if they were a righteous individual, you know, they see the church split and you

07:33.400 --> 07:36.760
know, they would tell the people, hey, you know what, you need to stay in that church.

07:36.760 --> 07:38.200
You know, I'm not a pastor no more.

07:38.200 --> 07:39.480
I'm not your pastor.

07:39.480 --> 07:41.000
This is the pastor of the church.

07:41.000 --> 07:43.800
But when the church splits, as I'm saying, and the Spanish pastor

07:43.800 --> 07:48.840
remains a pastor, takes the people with him, that's somebody that is usurping the authority

07:48.840 --> 07:50.560
of a pastor.

07:50.560 --> 07:53.680
So go to 2 Samuel chapter 13, 2 Samuel 13.

07:54.800 --> 08:00.300
And I'm going to finish reading here in 2 Samuel chapter 15 in verse number 5 it says,

08:00.300 --> 08:05.220
And it was so that when any man came nigh to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his

08:05.220 --> 08:07.640
hand and took him and kissed him.

08:07.640 --> 08:09.640
And see right off the bat right there that's like a red flag.

08:09.640 --> 08:12.380
You know if somebody's trying to usurp the authority and they're trying to flatter you

08:12.380 --> 08:15.200
and then they just come to you and say, hey here I'll hear you out and they just give

08:15.200 --> 08:16.200
you a kiss.

08:16.200 --> 08:18.400
Well you know you're like, hey hey chill you know.

08:18.400 --> 08:20.720
Like that should be like a red flag already right?

08:20.720 --> 08:22.720
You're not gonna let some dude just give you a kiss and say...

08:22.800 --> 08:27.520
like, hey, you know, what's the issue? Let me hear you out like heck no, right? So that's

08:27.520 --> 08:32.280
a red flag already in of itself. And then verse six, it says, and on this manner that

08:32.280 --> 08:37.240
Aslan to all Israel that came to the king for judgment. So Aslan stole the hearts of

08:37.240 --> 08:41.320
the men of Israel. And so here we see that he stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

08:41.320 --> 08:46.540
See when people win over the people, usually they do it by flattery, they win their hearts.

08:46.540 --> 08:49.960
And that's why it's important, you know, if you're in a position of leadership that you

08:49.960 --> 08:50.800
you win the people.

08:50.800 --> 08:55.960
the heart of the people, right? They trust you, you gain credibility, not only as a pastor,

08:55.960 --> 09:00.600
but as a father. You want to gain the credibility of your children, have credibility with your

09:00.600 --> 09:04.280
children, win the hearts of your children so that if anybody tries to undermine your

09:04.280 --> 09:08.160
authority, you know, they reject that opinion, they reject that advice. And unfortunately,

09:08.160 --> 09:12.280
sometimes as parents, we fail to do that. We fail to win the hearts of our children.

09:12.280 --> 09:16.280
You know, we take it for granted that God has given us several children sometimes, and

09:16.280 --> 09:18.080
We don't do anything to win their hearts

09:18.080 --> 09:18.800
so that when another.

09:18.800 --> 09:24.800
comes in to their lives, whether it be like an uncle or grandparent, any relative that they have,

09:24.800 --> 09:29.800
you know, it's easy for them to follow them instead of us. And that's something that we have to work on as parents.

09:29.800 --> 09:34.800
You know, this is not the subject of the sermon, but you know, it is an area that we as parents have to make sure

09:34.800 --> 09:42.800
that we cover, that we win the hearts of our children so that they can follow us and not any other person that tries to turn them against us.

09:42.800 --> 09:46.700
And so in 2 Samuel, chapter 13, go there real quick with me.

09:46.800 --> 09:49.300
Looking at your Bibles in verse number one, it says,

10:01.300 --> 10:05.140
for she was a virgin and Abbanan thought it hard for him to do anything to her.

10:05.140 --> 10:09.540
But Abbanan had a friend whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimei, David's brother,

10:09.540 --> 10:14.900
and Jonadab was a very subtle man. And so here we see that this is what created, you know, problems

10:14.900 --> 10:19.380
in the first place, the fact that Tamar, her brother Abbanan, was in love with her.

10:19.380 --> 10:22.740
And it should have just ended there, you know, he's in love with her, okay, whatever, but he

10:22.740 --> 10:26.660
could control what he does after that, okay? First of all, it's not even right to be in love

10:26.660 --> 10:29.220
with your sister. That's already like, you know, the pastor was talking about being

10:29.300 --> 10:34.100
different not weird that's already weird but you know it should have just ended there and

10:34.100 --> 10:38.060
then the Bible goes on to says but Amnon had a friend whose name was John the dab and we

10:38.060 --> 10:42.020
see that he was a subtle man and through this friend you know he was pretty much encouraged

10:42.020 --> 10:46.020
to pursue that relationship and ultimately force her and what we could get for this is

10:46.020 --> 10:49.540
that you know we need to be careful who we're friends with because oftentimes obviously

10:49.540 --> 10:54.700
we're all sinners we all have temptations we all sometimes have the tendency to veer

10:54.700 --> 10:57.260
off but we need to surround ourselves with people that

10:57.300 --> 11:00.420
would encourage us to stay in the fight, to stay in the course.

11:00.420 --> 11:03.220
That's somebody that's going to enable us to do what's wrong.

11:03.220 --> 11:06.780
You know, if you have a homegirl, I'm talking to the ladies, right?

11:06.780 --> 11:11.320
And you're having problems with your husband and then you surround yourself with wicked

11:11.320 --> 11:14.580
women that say, you know, you should dump that guy, right?

11:14.580 --> 11:16.600
That's not pleasing to the Lord.

11:16.600 --> 11:18.220
You know, that's somebody that's subtle.

11:18.220 --> 11:21.640
That's somebody that wants the worst for you.

11:21.640 --> 11:23.900
That's not somebody looking out for your well-being.

11:23.900 --> 11:25.300
You need to surround yourselves with women.

11:25.300 --> 11:28.760
that tell you, you know, obey your husband, you know, listen to your husband.

11:28.760 --> 11:34.280
Not surround yourself with women who are loud mouths, who are busy bodies, you know,

11:34.280 --> 11:38.180
who get involved in other people's matters. These are things that we have to look out,

11:38.180 --> 11:41.300
you know, you guys as women and not have those kind of friends.

11:41.300 --> 11:44.140
Go with me to Proverbs chapter 13.

11:44.800 --> 12:03.800
And the same goes with the men, you know, we have to surround ourselves with people that are, you know, credible, that have successful marriages, that are righteous people, so that if we have any, you know, idea, any, any thought of even ever doing anything wicked, they could tell us, hey, you know what, that's wrong, you know, the Lord doesn't want that for you.

12:03.800 --> 12:06.800
We need to surround ourselves with people that will hold us accountable.

12:06.800 --> 12:09.800
And I'm glad I have friends in this church that will keep me accountable.

12:09.800 --> 12:12.800
I can't just go to anybody and just like throw something wild out there.

12:12.800 --> 12:15.240
and expect them to enable me, right?

12:15.240 --> 12:17.040
At the moment, I believe that all the friends

12:17.040 --> 12:18.400
that I have right now, if I were to think

12:18.400 --> 12:21.240
of something bad to do, they would talk me out of it.

12:21.240 --> 12:22.840
And that's the kind of friends that we have to have,

12:22.840 --> 12:25.160
not people that are gonna enable us.

12:25.160 --> 12:27.760
And in Proverbs 13, look down to verse number 20.

12:28.400 --> 12:34.200
The Bible says, he that walketh with wise men shall be wise, but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

12:34.200 --> 12:36.640
And we see this oftentimes, you know, with the women again.

12:36.640 --> 12:41.600
You know, they have these bad friends that instead of encouraging them to stay with their husband,

12:41.600 --> 12:45.000
despite having problems, because every marriage has problems here and there, right?

12:45.000 --> 12:47.600
But the important thing is to resolve the problems.

12:47.600 --> 12:51.800
But if you surround yourself with women that, you know, have failed at their marriage,

12:51.800 --> 12:54.240
and then they tell you, hey, you know what, you should just leave them.

12:54.240 --> 12:56.400
You know, that person wants you to be destroyed.

12:56.400 --> 13:00.400
If you ever get advice like that from any of the ladies here, you should rebuke them.

13:00.400 --> 13:04.400
You should let somebody else know so that we can rebuke them and stay away from people like that.

13:04.400 --> 13:08.400
Now go to 2 Samuel chapter 15.

13:08.400 --> 13:12.400
I'm going to read to you from 2 Samuel 15, verse number 10.

13:12.400 --> 13:14.400
Actually go to verse number 10.

13:16.100 --> 13:20.740
It says, second Samuel 15 verse number 10, but Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of

13:20.740 --> 13:25.860
Israel saying, as soon as he hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say Absalom reigneth in

13:25.860 --> 13:30.340
Hebron. And when Absalom went 200 men out of Jerusalem that were called and they went in their

13:30.340 --> 13:36.260
simplicity and they knew not anything. And so we see, we hear, we see here that he was able to

13:36.260 --> 13:40.660
gather 200 men and it says that they went in their simplicity. And again, we see that these are people

13:40.660 --> 13:44.100
that were simple that followed him and he shouldn't be a person.

13:44.100 --> 13:48.580
that somebody can look at you and say, well, that's a simple person.

13:48.580 --> 13:50.780
We should be somebody that's wise, somebody that's prudent.

13:50.780 --> 13:53.920
The Bible says that the prudent man foresees the evil and departs from it.

13:53.920 --> 13:57.700
And if you're simple, you're going to follow a multitude to do evil, just like the people

13:57.700 --> 13:58.180
did here.

13:58.800 --> 14:00.080
And in verse number 12 it says,

14:00.080 --> 14:05.600
And Absalom sent forth a hitahel, the Gaiusonite, David's counselor from his city,

14:05.600 --> 14:08.240
even from Gaiusonite, while he offered sacrifices.

14:08.240 --> 14:11.680
And the conspiracy was strong for the people increased continually with Absalom.

14:11.680 --> 14:15.440
So he was getting pretty much momentum here to overthrow his father.

14:16.240 --> 14:19.120
Now go to 2 Samuel 18, 2 Samuel 18.

14:21.200 --> 14:25.600
And in verse 13, I'm going to continue reading to you from verse chapter 15. It says, and there came

14:25.600 --> 14:32.080
a messenger to David saying the hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom. And number one,

14:32.080 --> 14:36.560
we see that usurpers, they pray on the simple. I said that the prudent man perceived the evil

14:36.560 --> 14:39.040
and hiding himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.

14:39.700 --> 14:45.700
And then sometimes they do go after those that are closest to the leader, in this case a hit the hill, that was David's counselor.

14:45.700 --> 14:55.700
And so people that want to overthrow, in this case, you know, in this example, the pastor, they're going to go over to the, they're going to go and try to reach those that are closest to him.

14:55.700 --> 15:07.700
And we have to, you know, nip it at the bud. When whenever we see these things happening, when somebody has kind of that vibe of them trying to overthrow authority, you know, they despise authority, we need to be able to identify it.

15:07.700 --> 15:10.700
and to let somebody know so that it won't go beyond that.

15:10.700 --> 15:14.700
Because oftentimes problems like this get bigger because it doesn't get handled at the very beginning.

15:14.700 --> 15:17.700
And we don't want to create this environment where there's like cliques,

15:17.700 --> 15:20.700
there's like little groups or facets forming in the church.

15:20.700 --> 15:25.700
You know, as we get bigger, obviously there's going to be more cliques per se or groups of people

15:25.700 --> 15:27.700
because you're going to click with other people naturally,

15:27.700 --> 15:31.700
but we don't want to be the type where it's like, oh, this group is always by themselves

15:31.700 --> 15:34.700
and they're always, you know, plotting, you know, plotting to do evil.

15:34.700 --> 15:35.700
We don't want to have that in our church.

15:35.700 --> 15:39.180
church. You know, like just weird people and we don't want to have weird people in our

15:39.180 --> 15:43.460
church. We want people that are normal, right? Any person that's weird eventually gets exposed

15:43.460 --> 15:47.700
because it's pretty hard, you know, to be a weird person in our church. You know, you're

15:47.700 --> 15:51.700
pretty much on your own at that point. So go to Numbers chapter 16, Numbers chapter

15:51.700 --> 15:56.860
16, and I'm going to read to you from 2 Samuel 18 before I move on. So, you know, what's

15:56.860 --> 16:00.860
the end of Absalom? Obviously he is destroyed. He's not successful.

16:01.300 --> 16:05.460
And when it comes to his sister Tamar, obviously he started off and he ended up killing his brother

16:06.260 --> 16:11.540
Abnon. And then later on in second second sandwich chapter 18, the Bible says in verse number nine,

16:11.540 --> 16:17.060
and Absalom met the servants of David and Absalom rode upon a mule and the mule went under the thick

16:17.060 --> 16:22.020
boughs of a great oak and his head caught hold of the oak and when he was taken up between the

16:22.020 --> 16:25.900
heaven and the earth and the mule that was under him went away.

16:26.000 --> 16:27.480
And so we see that and then later on,

16:27.480 --> 16:30.000
Joab takes the three darts and then he kills him, right?

16:30.000 --> 16:32.020
And we see that at the end of the day,

16:32.020 --> 16:34.380
Absalom wasn't able to fulfill what he wanted to do

16:34.380 --> 16:36.480
and that was to overthrow his father, David.

16:36.480 --> 16:38.520
And this is what's gonna happen to those

16:38.520 --> 16:40.520
that try to overthrow authority.

16:40.520 --> 16:42.760
God is not pleased with those that despise the media

16:42.760 --> 16:45.680
and that despise government, people that hate authority.

16:45.680 --> 16:48.760
And sadly, we live in a day and age where a lot of kids,

16:48.760 --> 16:51.120
they wanna throw the authority of their parents.

16:51.120 --> 16:54.000
One day we were young too, now we're all old.

16:54.000 --> 16:56.600
I'm just kidding, but now we're older, right?

16:56.600 --> 16:59.400
And at some point we did think that we knew more than our parents.

16:59.400 --> 17:01.600
And as we get older, now that we have our children,

17:01.600 --> 17:04.800
we realize our parents knew a lot more than us, you know?

17:04.800 --> 17:06.900
And a lot of things, even if they weren't saved,

17:06.900 --> 17:10.800
they had some wisdom to them that they were able to convey to us

17:10.800 --> 17:12.200
that we should have followed.

17:12.200 --> 17:14.400
You know, a lot of the mistakes that we made,

17:14.400 --> 17:15.800
you know, if you made any as a teenager,

17:15.800 --> 17:19.000
was because you didn't listen to the instruction of your father or mother.

17:19.000 --> 17:21.000
And so we want to be able to...

17:21.500 --> 17:26.620
raise up children that don't develop this attitude of wanting to usurp our authority.

17:26.620 --> 17:30.300
You know, at home we don't want to create an atmosphere where, you know, our children see

17:30.300 --> 17:35.420
our wife usurping our authority. You know, the husbands go out to work and when we're at work,

17:35.420 --> 17:39.340
the wife is in charge of the home. You know, she's able to tell the kids what to do. But at the end

17:39.340 --> 17:44.860
of the day, as a father, as a husband, we have the last say when it comes to any decision that we make.

17:44.860 --> 17:49.180
Now go to number 16, number 16. Let me show you another usurper in the Bible.

17:49.500 --> 17:54.700
by the name of Quora. Never name your children Quora, right? Or Absalom.

17:54.700 --> 17:58.700
There's a lot of ladies on that list, I'm gonna have to make that font smaller now

17:58.700 --> 17:59.300
in the bulletin.

17:59.900 --> 18:02.460
But, you don't ever name your kids Korah.

18:02.460 --> 18:04.340
Look at verse number one here.

18:04.340 --> 18:05.540
Verse number one, it says,

18:05.540 --> 18:09.040
Now Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath,

18:09.040 --> 18:11.800
the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram,

18:11.800 --> 18:13.440
the sons of Eliab and An,

18:13.440 --> 18:16.400
and the son of Peleth, the sons of Reuben, took men.

18:16.400 --> 18:19.360
And they rose up before Moses with certain of the children of Israel,

18:19.360 --> 18:21.260
two hundred and fifty princes.

18:21.600 --> 18:24.720
of the assembly famous in the congregation men of renown.

18:24.720 --> 18:28.480
And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron,

18:28.480 --> 18:32.080
and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all

18:33.000 --> 18:38.200
seeing all the congregation are holy every one of you and the Lord is among them wherefore then

18:38.200 --> 18:42.680
lift you up yourselves above the congregation of the Lord and so here we see again another example

18:42.680 --> 18:47.640
of men rising up against the leadership and we know Moses to be the friend of God he was the

18:47.640 --> 18:52.840
meekest man on earth he was a respectable individual he was a man of God and so we see

18:52.840 --> 18:55.400
Korah and a group of men trying to overthrow him.

18:56.100 --> 18:58.340
And it says that they took 250 men.

18:58.340 --> 19:00.100
And they're telling Moses, you know,

19:00.100 --> 19:01.780
why can't everyone in the congregation

19:01.780 --> 19:03.780
basically do what Moses is doing?

19:03.780 --> 19:05.260
But here's the thing, in a church setting,

19:05.260 --> 19:07.420
you know, there's one pastor, right?

19:07.420 --> 19:09.620
And there's one pastor that's leading the flock.

19:09.620 --> 19:11.180
We can't all be pastors.

19:11.180 --> 19:13.860
We can't all be, you know, in charge here.

19:13.860 --> 19:15.340
In our church, we have pastor,

19:15.340 --> 19:17.380
we have the soul and team leaders,

19:17.380 --> 19:19.180
we have members, we have different ministries

19:19.180 --> 19:21.540
in our church, but we all can be doing

19:21.540 --> 19:23.060
the same job at church.

19:23.060 --> 19:24.100
And I don't think it's right for-

19:24.100 --> 19:28.940
anybody to desire the position of somebody else because you should be content with where

19:28.940 --> 19:30.660
God has put you.

19:30.660 --> 19:34.660
And here we see that Korah, he was not content with what he was supposed to do.

19:34.660 --> 19:36.260
I looked at verse number 8.

19:37.000 --> 19:40.840
The Bible says that Moses said unto Korah, Here I pray you, ye sons of Levi,

19:40.840 --> 19:45.480
semith but a small thing unto you that God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of

19:45.480 --> 19:50.040
Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of the Lord,

19:50.040 --> 19:54.280
and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them. So he says unto him, you know,

19:54.840 --> 19:59.720
semit but a small thing unto you. See, he had his own responsibilities. And the way we could apply

19:59.720 --> 20:04.920
this here is that, you know, at church, at home, at your job, you know, you have your own responsibility.

20:05.000 --> 20:07.520
that the people in charge there have given to you,

20:07.520 --> 20:09.200
and you should be content with that.

20:09.200 --> 20:11.240
You shouldn't seek to overthrow somebody else

20:11.240 --> 20:12.480
that's over you, right?

20:12.480 --> 20:13.800
There's this thing, I forget what it's called,

20:13.800 --> 20:16.640
but basically the way somebody sometimes overthrows

20:16.640 --> 20:19.160
somebody at a company is that they slowly start taking

20:19.160 --> 20:21.240
upon themselves the task that that person

20:21.240 --> 20:22.720
is responsible for, right?

20:22.720 --> 20:25.600
If another person has a certain amount of task,

20:25.600 --> 20:27.280
and then the person under them, they start like,

20:27.280 --> 20:29.200
hey, you know what, let me do that for you,

20:29.200 --> 20:30.840
and then they start taking over that task,

20:30.840 --> 20:32.800
and then that task, and then that task.

20:32.800 --> 20:33.000
I'll see you next time.

20:33.000 --> 20:36.960
A lot of times they're often doing that because they want that position, right?

20:36.960 --> 20:40.160
And they're doing it subtly, but this is something that we shouldn't do.

20:40.160 --> 20:41.720
You know, stay in your lane.

20:41.720 --> 20:46.680
If you're told to do a certain amount of tasks, a certain job that was given to you, be content

20:46.680 --> 20:47.880
with that job.

20:47.880 --> 20:50.280
Don't be somebody that tries to overthrow the people that are above you.

20:50.800 --> 20:56.560
And so here we see the example of like in a church setting, we all have different functions.

20:56.560 --> 20:58.160
We all can't be in charge.

20:58.160 --> 20:59.600
We all can't be doing the same thing.

20:59.600 --> 21:03.640
Now everybody's going to be a Sommiting Team leader, but we need to be able to support

21:03.640 --> 21:05.780
those that are over us.

21:05.780 --> 21:09.000
Now go to 1 Corinthians chapter 12.

21:09.000 --> 21:10.400
Go to 1 Corinthians chapter 12.

21:11.600 --> 21:19.040
And so I'm saying that Korah, in this case, usurpers of authority, are not content wherewith God has them.

21:20.000 --> 21:24.400
And in 1st Corinthians chapter 12, look down at verse number 14, the Bible says,

21:24.400 --> 21:27.680
For the body is not one member, but many.

21:27.680 --> 21:31.680
If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body,

21:31.680 --> 21:33.440
is it therefore not of the body?

21:33.440 --> 21:37.680
And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body,

21:37.680 --> 21:39.520
is it therefore not of the body?

21:39.520 --> 21:42.240
If the whole body were an eye, we're with the hearing.

21:42.240 --> 21:44.800
If the whole were hearing, we're with the smelling.

21:44.800 --> 21:47.920
But now hath God set the members, every one of them, in the body.

21:48.000 --> 21:49.500
as it had pleased them.

21:49.500 --> 21:50.900
And so the point I'm trying to make is that

21:50.900 --> 21:52.900
serve God where you're at.

21:52.900 --> 21:55.400
If you just got saved, get plugged into church,

21:55.400 --> 21:57.000
learn how to give the gospel,

21:57.000 --> 21:59.000
learn how to be a team player,

21:59.000 --> 22:01.000
support your team leader, right?

22:01.000 --> 22:02.300
Pray for them.

22:02.300 --> 22:05.900
One of the best ways that you can show your support to them

22:05.900 --> 22:08.600
is just by showing up for so many, right?

22:08.600 --> 22:12.000
No team leader here wants to, on a Sunday,

22:12.000 --> 22:14.600
and realize that nobody's gonna go out so many, right?

22:14.600 --> 22:16.000
That's not a way to support your team.

22:16.000 --> 22:19.840
team leader. If you want to be an asset to your church, you know, be here on time.

22:19.840 --> 22:25.400
You know, be here on service days, right? Be here when the church doors are open.

22:25.400 --> 22:26.700
Be consistent.

22:26.900 --> 22:30.500
And the thing about soul winning, you know, a lot of people often times, well not a lot of people,

22:30.500 --> 22:34.500
I would say we have a good amount of like introverts here, but the best way to make friendships,

22:34.500 --> 22:38.340
long lasting friendships, is by going out and soul winning. Why? Because when you're with your

22:38.340 --> 22:42.740
partner, you get to know them, you get to laugh, you get to create memories, you get to share

22:42.740 --> 22:46.980
experiences, learn from them. These are ways that you can make friends in our church.

22:46.980 --> 22:50.420
And so what I'm trying to convey here is that you need to be a team player.

22:50.420 --> 22:54.900
You know, don't worry about being the one in charge, worry about supporting the person.

22:54.900 --> 22:58.900
that's above you. In this case, pray for your team leader. Show up.

22:59.200 --> 23:02.240
Now, Quorant's company, you know, they were questioning the leadership of Moses.

23:02.240 --> 23:05.940
And, you know, it just reminds me of people that always complain, you know, why is this

23:05.940 --> 23:07.220
person in charge?

23:07.220 --> 23:08.940
Why does this person get to do this?

23:08.940 --> 23:11.140
You know, be content with where you're at.

23:11.140 --> 23:14.740
At your job, whatever position you have, be content with that position.

23:14.740 --> 23:17.980
You know, be the best that you can in that position.

23:17.980 --> 23:20.840
And it really doesn't matter what you're doing for the Lord in the sense of like wherever

23:20.840 --> 23:23.380
you're serving, you have to do it as unto the Lord.

23:23.380 --> 23:24.380
And God sees that.

23:24.380 --> 23:25.380
God is going to reward you.

23:25.380 --> 23:27.140
God is going to reward your consistency.

23:27.200 --> 23:34.200
and your faithfulness. Now go to number 16.

23:36.600 --> 23:41.000
And this kind of reminds me too, there's churches in different denominations where, you know,

23:41.000 --> 23:45.640
they rotate the pastors like every five years. And then they do this, and I know this because

23:45.640 --> 23:49.880
like I have family that are SDAs, you know, Seventh-day Adventists, and they rotate the

23:49.880 --> 23:55.400
pastor every five years so that the people there doesn't develop like some kind of like loyalty to

23:55.400 --> 24:00.040
the man instead of God. And that's the reasoning for it. But you know, if the pastor is following

24:00.040 --> 24:04.600
Christ, you know, we could follow the pastor, right? If the past man of God is following Christ,

24:04.600 --> 24:08.920
we should be able to follow them as they follow Christ. Now the pastor ever for some reason,

24:08.920 --> 24:12.200
and I don't think that would ever happen with our pastor, you know, God forbid, but if you were to,

24:12.200 --> 24:16.040
you know, eventually, you know, fall into sin or whatever, we still got to follow Christ.

24:16.040 --> 24:19.720
You know, if I were to fall into sin, get away from church, get out of church, my kids should

24:19.720 --> 24:23.480
still follow Christ. Why? Because at the end of the day, they're not following me per se,

24:23.480 --> 24:30.120
they're following Jesus Christ. Now, I think I'll tell you, go to Numbers chapter 16, look down at

24:30.120 --> 24:31.500
verse number 28.

24:31.600 --> 24:39.600
The Bible says that Moses said, Hereby you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works for I have not done them of my own mind.

24:40.000 --> 24:45.520
If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men,

24:45.520 --> 24:49.760
then the Lord had not sent me. But if the Lord make a new thing, and the earth open up her mouth

24:49.760 --> 24:54.160
and swallow them up with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit,

24:54.160 --> 24:58.000
then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the Lord. And it came to pass,

24:58.000 --> 25:02.400
as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave a sunder that was

25:02.400 --> 25:07.040
under them, and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up and her houses, and all the men

25:08.000 --> 25:12.640
Korah and all their goods, they and all that appertained to them went down alive into the

25:12.640 --> 25:16.800
pit and the earth closed upon them and they perished from among the congregation."

25:16.800 --> 25:21.200
And so here again we see that the usurper eventually is destroyed and in this instant

25:21.200 --> 25:26.640
you know he was destroyed in a crazy way like the earth literally opened up and hell swallowed

25:26.640 --> 25:28.000
him up alive.

25:28.000 --> 25:31.080
You know that's how much God hates those that try to usurp authority.

25:32.300 --> 25:39.100
Now go to 1 Kings chapter 1.

25:41.800 --> 25:45.560
I'm going to give you another example of another usurper.

25:45.560 --> 25:51.400
And so the Bible is filled with people that try to always overthrow the man of God.

25:51.400 --> 25:57.240
And here in 1 Kings chapter 1, again in verse number 5,

25:57.500 --> 26:00.940
Here's another son of David. It says that then Adonijah the son of Higgeth

26:01.180 --> 26:07.340
Haggith exalted himself saying I will be king and he prepared him chariots and horsemen and 50 men to run before him

26:07.580 --> 26:12.540
And that's another characteristic of somebody that is a usurper is that they exalt themselves, right?

26:12.780 --> 26:14.780
They try to like praise themselves

26:15.320 --> 26:16.860
uh magnify themselves

26:16.860 --> 26:18.860
whereas the bible says in joshua

26:18.920 --> 26:25.260
14 14 on that day the lord magnified joshua in the sight of all israel and they feared him as

26:25.500 --> 26:31.020
feared Moses all the days of his life. Now go to Luke chapter 14 real quick, Luke chapter 14.

26:31.500 --> 26:36.780
And so somebody that tries to, you know, pass as a figure of authority, you know, they're

26:36.780 --> 26:38.360
going to exalt themselves.

26:38.360 --> 26:42.000
And the Bible always says that let another man praise you, not that own lips.

26:42.000 --> 26:46.160
So you don't ever want to be this person that is constantly praising yourself, right?

26:46.160 --> 26:50.600
You never want to say, well, you know, I'm pretty much like the best soul winner or,

26:50.600 --> 26:53.400
you know, I'm pretty much like the best looking sibling in my family.

26:53.400 --> 26:55.120
I'm just kidding.

26:55.120 --> 26:58.640
But it's not that much of a competition.

26:59.800 --> 27:03.800
Like you never want to be one that praises yourself.

27:03.800 --> 27:05.600
And in Luke chapter 14...

27:05.700 --> 27:11.800
Verse number 11 the Bible says for whosoever exalted himself shall be a base and he that humbled himself shall be exalted

27:11.800 --> 27:16.940
So the way to be exalted by God is by humbling yourself serving quietly, you know

27:16.940 --> 27:22.680
One day if God wills he's gonna magnify you and you don't want to be like Adonijah the son of Haggith

27:22.680 --> 27:28.160
Who the Bible says exalted himself now go to first Kings go back to first Kings chapter 1

27:29.500 --> 27:32.100
Now continue reading chapter 1 verse number 6 the Bible says,

27:32.100 --> 27:35.200
And his father had not displeased him at any time, and saying,

27:35.200 --> 27:39.600
Why has thou done so? And he also was a very goodly man, and his mother bare him after Absalom.

27:39.800 --> 27:45.320
And he conferred with Joab the son of Zariah and with Abiathar the priest and they following Adonijah helped them.

27:45.320 --> 27:54.200
But Zadok the priest and Benaiah the son of Jehoi and Nathan the prophet and Shimei and Riah and the mighty men which belonged to David were not with Adonijah.

27:54.200 --> 28:00.600
And so we see Adonijah was self-willed and that's a quality that we don't want for somebody that's trying to be a pastor, somebody that's just self-willed.

28:00.600 --> 28:07.720
Right, in order to be able to serve as a pastor, serve as somebody that has a position of authority is that you need to be learned to...

28:07.800 --> 28:13.000
be under somebody else. You should learn to follow other people. You should learn to take

28:13.000 --> 28:17.720
instruction from other people and not just automatically expect to be a person with a

28:17.720 --> 28:23.640
position of authority. And so we see in the beginning, Saul was chosen to be king, David

28:23.640 --> 28:27.400
was chosen to be king, and they both fought their battles in their day. But Adonijah,

28:27.400 --> 28:31.760
I don't believe we ever see him fighting any battles. And so he wanted the product without

28:31.760 --> 28:35.800
the process. He just expected this position without ever putting any...

28:35.800 --> 28:42.160
work. Now go to, well you're in 1 Kings chapter 1, look down at verse number 25.

28:42.160 --> 28:46.360
The Bible says, for he has gone down this day and has slain oxen and fat cattle

28:46.360 --> 28:51.400
and sheep in abundance and I called all the king's sons and the captains...

28:52.200 --> 28:58.200
And the captains of the host and Abiothor the priest and behold they eat and drink before him and say God save king adonijah

28:58.440 --> 29:00.200
And we see the same thing with

29:00.200 --> 29:04.280
Absalom, you know, they both wanted to put themselves above above david. They wanted to overthrow their father

29:05.080 --> 29:08.920
I looked down at verse number 39 the Bible says and zadok the priest took a horn

29:09.400 --> 29:15.660
Of oil of the tabernacle anointed solomon and they blew the trumpet and all the people said god saved king solomon

29:16.200 --> 29:20.360
And all the people came up after him and the people pipe with pipes and rejoice with great joy

29:20.360 --> 29:24.840
so that the earth rant with the sound of them. And so we see that Solomon was actually the one that

29:24.840 --> 29:30.520
was set as king and not Adonijah. And you know this is pretty humbling for him because even though

29:30.520 --> 29:35.880
he thought he was going to be the one next, he was going to be the one that was to be king,

29:35.880 --> 29:41.560
we see that God put Solomon as the king of Israel. And so what a humbling thing for that to happen to

29:41.560 --> 29:44.040
him. And this kind of reminds me too when

29:44.200 --> 29:44.700
this is on.

29:45.300 --> 29:50.740
you know with Bible college graduates right that without ever putting any work you know what do

29:50.740 --> 29:55.940
they expect after graduating you know just to have some type of leadership position and it does happen

29:55.940 --> 30:01.460
oftentimes because of the requirements in the old i.b sometimes are not you know that great you know

30:01.460 --> 30:05.780
as long as you have a degree of some sort you're able to be a pastor you know i know pastors from

30:05.780 --> 30:10.740
the old i.b that had no kids whereas the bible says you know you need to have faithful children

30:10.740 --> 30:13.300
And so there are things that people from the old...

30:13.300 --> 30:17.660
be due that obviously are wrong, but because they want that product so bad without ever

30:17.660 --> 30:23.660
going through the process. Now go to 1st Timothy chapter 2, 1st Timothy chapter 2. And so

30:23.660 --> 30:29.100
the first three usurpers that we saw was Absalom, Adonijah, and Korah. And these are all people

30:29.100 --> 30:34.940
that are trying to throw, overthrow the man of God. You know, another type of usurper

30:34.940 --> 30:36.620
that we can see in the Bible.

30:37.800 --> 30:41.040
It's pretty clear that the Bible condemns as women pastors, right?

30:41.120 --> 30:44.720
these are people that try to overthrow the office of a bishop and

30:45.480 --> 30:48.880
Before I get into this, you know, I just want to say that we do see a pattern

30:48.880 --> 30:55.420
Like I said of usurpers know that the main thing that they want is the title they want the authority without putting the work

30:56.000 --> 30:59.920
without going through the proper channels. And so women pastors, the same thing, you know, they

30:59.920 --> 31:05.520
want to be over the flock of God. And the Bible clear says that, let the woman learn in silence

31:05.520 --> 31:11.120
with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach nor to usurp the authority over the man,

31:11.120 --> 31:16.160
but to be in silence. And so God is a God of order, right? At the home, he's put the husband

31:16.160 --> 31:21.520
as the head of the home and the wife is supposed to submit to him. And in the church, God has put,

31:21.520 --> 31:24.000
you know, a man to be in charge, right?

31:24.000 --> 31:27.880
We're never going to have a woman come up here and preach a whole sermon or anything

31:27.880 --> 31:28.880
like that.

31:28.880 --> 31:32.280
You know, that would be, you know, that would be crazy, first of all.

31:32.280 --> 31:36.200
But I want to, I kind of want to show this because this is something that if I still,

31:36.200 --> 31:38.640
oh, they don't, they took it down.

31:38.640 --> 31:40.040
So we got this at Hobby Lobby, right?

31:40.400 --> 31:41.400
I'm just kidding.

31:41.400 --> 31:45.280
But it says, let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

31:45.280 --> 31:47.800
And so if you want to get one of these, you can go to Hobby Lobby.

31:47.800 --> 31:48.800
No, I'm just kidding.

31:48.800 --> 31:50.200
But I think somebody gave this to our church.

31:50.200 --> 31:54.360
But it's funny because every time that I'm cleaning the restaurant, I see this in there,

31:54.360 --> 31:58.080
and I was like, oh, that's always a good reminder for the women in the church.

31:58.080 --> 32:01.480
And this is something that I encourage everybody to have.

32:01.480 --> 32:03.880
Because sometimes people forget.

32:03.880 --> 32:08.280
And I think it's important, as a lady, if you ever do forget, for some reason you didn't

32:08.400 --> 32:11.360
your Bible that week. When you go into our restroom you're gonna read this.

32:11.360 --> 32:15.920
Right? So it's a reminder, just a little plug there if you want to buy one you

32:15.920 --> 32:20.400
can use my promo code. I was kidding. But you know these are verses that are in

32:20.400 --> 32:24.480
the Bible that clearly teaches that the man is in charge. Right? We're never

32:24.480 --> 32:27.520
gonna have women pastors, we're never gonna have a woman usurp the authority

32:27.520 --> 32:33.000
of a man in our church. Now go to Revelation chapter 2 verse 20.

32:33.200 --> 32:37.280
And the Bible says in verse 20, now withstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou

32:37.280 --> 32:42.080
suffereth that woman Jezebel, which called herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants,

32:42.080 --> 32:45.520
to commit fornication and to eat things, sacrifice them to idols.

32:45.520 --> 32:46.080
idols

32:47.200 --> 32:52.560
And you know women pastors I don't think it's a thing it's not even a thing in the IFB and you know

32:52.560 --> 32:56.160
independent Baptist churches I think in southern Baptist churches they might have it but we see

32:56.160 --> 33:00.320
this a lot in Pentecostal churches right and I've never been in Pentecostal church but I've driven

33:00.320 --> 33:04.720
by them and you can always see a lady she's up in the pulpit just you know preaching and you know

33:04.720 --> 33:10.640
that's something that you know God forbid ever happens in our churches. Now go to 1st Corinthians chapter 14.

33:12.200 --> 33:16.040
I actually go to Ephesians chapter 5. Ephesians chapter 5. I'm going to read to you from first

33:16.040 --> 33:17.320
reading chapter 14. It says

33:18.100 --> 33:21.420
Let your women keep in size in the churches for it is not permitted to them to speak

33:21.420 --> 33:27.120
But they are commanded to be under obedience as also say the law and they will learn anything

33:27.260 --> 33:31.680
Let them ask their husbands at home for it is a shame for women to speak in church

33:31.680 --> 33:37.780
And so here we see God's instruction for the wise if you have any question, you know, let them ask your husband at home

33:37.940 --> 33:38.500
All right

33:38.500 --> 33:44.540
They're not supposed to just speak up in church and say man and you know, try to usurp the authority try you serve the service

33:44.540 --> 33:46.100
You know, that's why as a husband

33:46.100 --> 33:49.100
you should be able to teach your wife the Bible.

33:49.100 --> 33:51.100
You should be able to teach your children the Bible.

33:51.100 --> 33:53.100
And don't be one of these husbands where, you know,

33:53.100 --> 33:54.100
your wife knows more than you.

33:54.100 --> 33:56.100
And I remember, you know, back in the day,

33:56.100 --> 33:58.100
I think it was like one of the red hots where I was at.

33:58.100 --> 34:01.100
And I was with Brother Alex, and there was a lady, you know,

34:01.100 --> 34:03.100
there was a couple, they were just dating.

34:03.100 --> 34:06.100
And the guy was actually asking the girl, his girlfriend,

34:06.100 --> 34:08.100
at the time, it was embarrassing, you know,

34:08.100 --> 34:10.100
what does the Bible say about this?

34:10.100 --> 34:12.100
You know, as a guy, you kind of get, you know, like this feeling,

34:12.100 --> 34:14.100
like, damn, that's freaking, like, embarrassing.

34:14.100 --> 34:19.100
But you don't want to be characterized as somebody like that where your wife knows more than you.

34:19.100 --> 34:21.100
As a husband, you do want to know more than your wife.

34:21.100 --> 34:25.100
Even if you just both recently got saved, you should put in the work to be able to teach your wife.

34:25.100 --> 34:26.100
There's no excuse for it.

34:26.900 --> 34:30.180
Now in Ephesians chapter 5 it says in verse 22 it says,

34:30.180 --> 34:34.020
Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands as unto the Lord,

34:34.020 --> 34:38.100
for the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church,

34:38.100 --> 34:42.420
and he is the savior of the body. Therefore, as the church is subject unto Christ,

34:42.420 --> 34:46.340
so let the wives be to their own husbands and everything.

34:46.340 --> 34:51.300
And you know I hope the ladies never get tired of hearing these verses right because it's in

34:51.300 --> 34:54.740
the Bible and we're going to keep preaching it because we live in a day and age where

34:54.900 --> 34:57.400
you know, other pastors are no longer preaching that.

34:57.400 --> 35:00.700
And, you know, our pastor preaches that constantly

35:00.700 --> 35:02.800
because he's trying to help the guys out, right?

35:02.800 --> 35:04.700
He doesn't want your wife thinking that it's ever okay

35:04.700 --> 35:06.300
to usurp our authority.

35:06.300 --> 35:08.200
And he should be thankful that we have a pastor

35:08.200 --> 35:09.800
that constantly hits on this.

35:09.800 --> 35:12.000
You know, every other service, throw it in, you know,

35:12.000 --> 35:14.600
for good measure, lest women should forget.

35:14.800 --> 35:18.800
And you know, we shouldn't care what other people think, the haters and all that stuff.

35:18.800 --> 35:22.480
You know, if they want to be ruled by their wives, let them be ruled by their wives.

35:22.480 --> 35:25.440
But our church, you know, we as men, we're going to rule our wives.

35:25.440 --> 35:26.560
We're going to be the ones in charge.

35:27.840 --> 35:30.880
Now go to Isaiah chapter 14.

35:30.880 --> 35:31.760
I'm almost done.

35:31.760 --> 35:33.200
Isaiah chapter 14.

35:33.600 --> 35:39.200
And so here I was just making the point that as wives you shouldn't usurp the authority of your husband.

35:39.200 --> 35:43.600
I also brought up the fact in the beginning that kids should not usurp the authority of their parents.

35:43.600 --> 35:48.400
And that's why it's important to be careful with who you let around your kids.

35:48.400 --> 35:51.200
You know, be careful with that uncle, with that aunt.

35:51.200 --> 35:56.200
You know, back in the day, you know, you have relatives that your parents have a set of rules for you at home,

35:56.200 --> 36:00.200
but then there's always that uncle, right, that says like, well, if you come here you could do this.

36:00.200 --> 36:01.600
You know, just tell your parents.

36:01.600 --> 36:04.880
you're going to come with us and then they let them go to a party or something.

36:04.880 --> 36:08.120
That's why you got to pay attention to who's around your kids. You don't want

36:08.120 --> 36:12.880
them to be around grandparents that spoil them, right? When they're kids it

36:12.880 --> 36:16.460
might be like funny or like cute, you know, they give them candy here and there,

36:16.460 --> 36:20.480
but you don't want them to be around grandparents or in-laws that will usurp

36:20.480 --> 36:25.000
your authority, right? You need to be the one that's in charge of your children. So

36:25.000 --> 36:27.400
be careful who you let around your children.

36:27.500 --> 36:33.260
Now God gave us our kids were responsible for them as long as they're in our home and we want to make sure that you know

36:33.260 --> 36:36.460
They learn to do it right and they learn to know who's in charge

36:37.340 --> 36:40.460
Now go to I think I told you go to Isaiah chapter 14

36:40.940 --> 36:45.820
another usurper that we see and this is the last one would be satan right and this is the

36:47.100 --> 36:48.600
You know satan would be

36:48.700 --> 36:53.100
the biggest usurper that we see in the Bible and it says in Isaiah 14 and verse number 12

36:53.100 --> 36:58.300
how art thou falling from heaven oh lucifer son of the morning how are thou cut down to the ground

36:58.300 --> 37:03.260
which did is weaken the nations for thou hast set in thy heart i will ascend into heaven

37:03.260 --> 37:07.900
i will exalt my throne above the stars of god i will sit also upon the mount of the congregation

37:07.900 --> 37:13.020
in the size of the north i will ascend above the heights of the clouds i will be like the most high

37:13.020 --> 37:16.380
yet thou shalt be brought down to hell to the size of the pit.

37:16.700 --> 37:20.900
They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee and consider thee, saying, Is this the

37:20.900 --> 37:25.780
man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms, that made the world as a wilderness

37:25.780 --> 37:29.520
and destroyed the cities thereof, that opened not the house of his prisoners?

37:29.520 --> 37:34.460
And ultimately Satan, the biggest usurper, is going to be destroyed in hell.

37:34.460 --> 37:37.860
And here we see that, you know, Satan wanted to be like the most high.

37:37.860 --> 37:42.060
And so any person that has this characteristic, they're being like the devil, right?

37:42.060 --> 37:44.700
They're trying to usurp the authority that God has.

37:44.700 --> 37:45.700
place in our lives.

37:46.200 --> 37:49.240
And go to Matthew chapter 14, go to Matthew chapter 14.

37:49.240 --> 37:52.040
And what does Satan want? He wants people to worship him, right?

37:52.040 --> 37:54.760
He doesn't want people to get saved. He doesn't want people to get,

37:54.760 --> 37:57.960
come to the knowledge of the truth. He wants people to follow him.

37:57.960 --> 38:01.000
And that doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to worship him in the sense

38:01.000 --> 38:04.360
that they're all going to be Satanists. No, he's content with people just never

38:04.360 --> 38:07.160
getting saved, with people just being part of a false

38:07.160 --> 38:10.680
religion, with people just being distracted, you know, by their phone,

38:10.680 --> 38:14.200
by anything, by any means. The whole point that Satan

38:14.200 --> 38:20.080
The whole goal and mission of Satan is for people not to get saved, not to go to heaven.

38:20.080 --> 38:26.680
And for those that are saved, his main goal is to disarm them, to render them useless,

38:26.680 --> 38:29.280
to distract them enough to where they don't do anything great for God.

38:29.800 --> 38:32.520
And go to Matthew chapter 14, look down at verse number eight.

38:32.520 --> 38:34.680
The Bible says, again, the devil taketh him up,

38:34.680 --> 38:37.320
referring to Jesus, into an exceeding high mountain,

38:37.320 --> 38:40.520
and showeth him all the keenness of the world and the glory of them,

38:40.520 --> 38:43.720
and saith unto him, all these things will I give thee,

38:43.720 --> 38:45.800
if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

38:45.800 --> 38:49.000
Then saith Jesus unto him, get thee hence, Satan,

38:49.000 --> 38:51.480
for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God,

38:51.480 --> 38:53.000
and him only shalt thou serve.

38:53.000 --> 38:55.960
And so here we see this is what Satan tells people,

38:55.960 --> 38:57.800
you know, hey worship me and I will give you

38:57.800 --> 39:03.380
this. And we see music made about this, you know, about them worshiping Satan and

39:03.380 --> 39:06.680
them getting what they wanted. You know, this is what Satan wants. He wants to be

39:06.680 --> 39:10.760
God. He wants to have, you know, he wants to be in the place of God and receive

39:10.760 --> 39:14.680
praise and worship. And just like the other usurpers that we saw today,

39:14.680 --> 39:20.360
Absalom and Korah and Adonijah and these women pastors, they're like the devil in

39:20.360 --> 39:23.820
the sense that they want to usurp the authority that God has placed. Now go to

39:23.820 --> 39:25.400
Revelation chapter 20.

39:25.800 --> 39:28.600
What is the end of Satan? Relation chapter 20.

39:29.600 --> 39:42.080
The Bible says in verse number one, and I saw an angel come down from heaven having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand and he laid hold on the dragon that old serpent, which is the devil and Satan bound him a thousand.

39:43.120 --> 39:54.160
The is the devil and Satan, excuse me, and bound him a thousand years and cast them into the bottomless pit and shut him up and set a seal upon him that he should see the nations no more to the thousand years should be fulfilled.

39:54.440 --> 39:56.840
And after that, he must be lose a little season.

39:56.840 --> 39:57.600
That's good.

39:57.600 --> 40:01.080
down verse number 10 and it ends with and the devil that deceived them was

40:01.080 --> 40:04.800
cast into a lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are

40:04.800 --> 40:08.760
and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever and so God is never

40:08.760 --> 40:13.120
gonna allow usurper to just you know live out their days in this case Satan

40:13.120 --> 40:17.120
eventually will go to hell go to the lake of fire now go to 2nd Thessalonians

40:17.120 --> 40:20.700
chapter 2 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2

40:22.400 --> 40:27.440
And what's the sermon tonight? It's just to not be a usurper. You know, anywhere that you're at,

40:27.440 --> 40:33.280
at your job, in church, at home, for the women, don't usurp the authority that God has placed in

40:33.280 --> 40:39.360
your life. You know, don't exalt yourself, don't praise yourself. You know, humble yourself and

40:39.360 --> 40:43.680
follow those that are above you. Now in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2,

40:44.200 --> 40:49.540
Lastly, we see the anachrist too where it says in verse number one now we beseech you brethren by the coming of our Lord

40:49.840 --> 40:54.360
Jesus Christ and by our gathering together unto him that ye be not soon shaken in mind or

40:54.680 --> 40:59.460
Troubled neither by spirit nor by word nor by letter as from us as that day of Christ is at hand

40:59.540 --> 41:02.480
Let no man deceive you by any means for that day shall not come

41:02.720 --> 41:06.160
Except there come a falling away first and that man of sin shall be revealed

41:06.900 --> 41:12.660
the son of perdition who opposed it and exalted it again says exalted himself above all that is

41:12.660 --> 41:18.340
called God or that is worshiped so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God showing himself that

41:18.340 --> 41:23.540
he is God and again we see this characteristic which is constantly exalting yourself so the

41:23.540 --> 41:27.620
characteristics of the usurper if you remember anything from the sermon or get anything is that

41:27.620 --> 41:33.780
they hate the authority that God has in place you know they rally up the simple you know by flattery

41:33.780 --> 41:34.780
That's all the uptick-

41:34.900 --> 41:36.780
they obtain their positions.

41:36.780 --> 41:38.900
And then they obtain a position of power

41:38.900 --> 41:40.420
by deceit and force.

41:40.420 --> 41:42.220
So number one, what can you do?

41:42.220 --> 41:43.900
First of all, don't be a usurper.

41:43.900 --> 41:45.980
And if anybody comes to you trying to overthrow,

41:45.980 --> 41:47.740
you know, those that are over you,

41:47.740 --> 41:48.980
first of all, don't be simple.

41:48.980 --> 41:50.120
You know, don't be stupid.

41:50.120 --> 41:50.960
Don't be dumb.

41:51.200 --> 41:55.600
gets a wisdom so that you could be able to discern when somebody's just trying to flatter you.

41:55.600 --> 42:01.280
You know, flattery is oftentimes goes like unnoticed if you're not like really paying attention

42:01.280 --> 42:05.440
and you should be honest with yourself to be able to like identify flattering because sometimes

42:05.440 --> 42:08.960
you know we take it as compliments but it's really just flattery you know don't lie to

42:08.960 --> 42:12.800
yourself as well don't flatter yourself so learn to discern flattery.

42:13.500 --> 42:16.540
Don't be a usurper and just be a team player.

42:16.540 --> 42:20.820
You know, whatever you're doing in our church, keep doing it as unto the Lord.

42:20.820 --> 42:24.580
You know, I'm thankful for all the people that help out, for those that help to clean,

42:24.580 --> 42:28.820
to set up, for those that are in the teams, you know, supporting the team leader.

42:28.820 --> 42:33.380
You know, these are all things that we all do to serve Christ, but we do it as unto the Lord.

42:33.380 --> 42:37.140
If it ever comes to our head, you know, like, I'm not really pleased with what I'm trying to do,

42:37.140 --> 42:41.500
then go through the proper channels, put in the work, you know, try to do your best to be faithful.

42:41.500 --> 42:44.980
where you're at and consistent so that one day God will magnify you and exalt

42:44.980 --> 42:48.580
you and put you in another position but until then you know just serve quietly

42:48.580 --> 42:52.860
be consistent be faithful so the title of the sermon like I said in the beginning

42:52.860 --> 42:56.740
is just don't be a usurper and with that let's pray. Heavenly Father Lord thank you for

42:56.740 --> 43:00.740
this day thank you for everything that you've given us Lord for our pastor

43:00.740 --> 43:05.340
Lord for our great church I pray that Lord that you continue to use us as a

43:05.340 --> 43:09.500
church that we be able to save those that are in our city

43:09.500 --> 43:13.340
and the city surrounding. And I pray Lord that you continue to bless our church, have your hand

43:13.340 --> 43:19.020
over our pastor, keep them safe. I pray Lord that you continue to use us in a mighty way so that we

43:19.020 --> 43:23.500
can continue to do great things for you, help us to reach that goal of 12,000 salvations by the end

43:23.500 --> 43:28.700
of the year. And I pray Lord that you would use me and everybody else to serve in the position that

43:28.700 --> 43:32.700
we have right now and be content with everything that you've given us, Lord. Thank you for everything

43:32.700 --> 43:34.700
again and the praise in Jesus' name, amen.

43:43.100 --> 43:46.940
Song number 106 is our last song, Abide With Me.

43:47.820 --> 43:49.820
Song number 106.
