Nobody in the church directly was affected by the fires. But that 06:09.480 --> 06:15.280 was a pretty crazy thing to see, like streets that we drive up and down normally, just houses 06:15.280 --> 06:20.160 just burned to a crisp. It's very, very crazy. But praise God that he protected us all through 06:20.160 --> 06:24.600 that. And I also wanted to update you guys on this though, that as far as the soul winnings 06:24.600 --> 06:27.960 going up there. We last year, I believe I said this my last sermon up 06:28.000 --> 06:28.480 here but. 06:28.900 --> 06:34.900 We had 97 people saved, so our goal for the entire year for this year was going to be 100 people. 06:34.900 --> 06:35.900 That's what we were shooting for. 06:35.900 --> 06:37.900 I thought that was a good number. 06:37.900 --> 06:45.900 And I'm pleased to tell you guys that we have already reached our goal of 100 people, and we met it basically halfway through June. 06:45.900 --> 06:48.900 So we got to our goal for the whole year in June. 06:48.900 --> 06:53.900 100 people. We're going to look at verse number 13 of this chapter 07:36.500 --> 07:41.300 where the Bible says, for brethren, ye have been called under liberty, only use not liberty for 07:41.300 --> 07:46.100 an occasion of the flesh, but by love serve one another. Amen 08:18.700 --> 08:21.540 Talking about something like I said again is walk in the spirit. 08:21.540 --> 08:23.920 We're here in Galatians chapter number five and this morning I'm going to be preaching 08:23.920 --> 08:26.820 about walking in the spirit as you can imagine from the title. 08:26.820 --> 08:31.900 Now I initially was going to preach on the fruit of the spirit with this sermon but I 08:31.900 --> 08:34.820 forgot who told me this a long time ago but someone told me a very wise piece of advice 08:34.820 --> 08:39.220 when making sermons which is never get married to a title of a sermon because sometimes you 08:39.220 --> 08:42.380 start off making a sermon and you're thinking it's going to go one way and then it just 08:42.380 --> 08:46.660 goes to the other and then sometimes like to try to like save the the original 08:46.660 --> 08:46.700 time. 08:46.700 --> 08:49.100 title that you gave it, you'll try to put some stuff in there. 08:49.100 --> 08:53.300 But you just got to learn sometimes God's leading you to preach something else or sometimes 08:53.300 --> 08:55.820 he maybe doesn't want you to preach that at that time. 08:55.820 --> 08:59.540 But this sermon was originally going to be about the fruit of the Spirit but it transformed 08:59.540 --> 09:04.340 more into walking in the Spirit and this isn't going to be what you might expect. 09:04.340 --> 09:08.300 If you've been listening at all to my 1st Corinthians series up there, I did a whole 09:08.300 --> 09:09.580 breakdown of 1st Corinthians 13. 09:09.580 --> 09:13.340 There's a lot of parts, probably more parts than it should have been, but I had fun doing 09:13.340 --> 09:14.340 it at least. 09:14.700 --> 09:19.600 It was a lot of parts, but I'm not gonna be breaking this down as I would have done in that sermon where I'm taking all 09:19.600 --> 09:23.520 the attributes of walking in the flesh and walking in the spirit and like explaining what they mean 09:23.640 --> 09:25.640 I'm more so gonna be talking about the 09:26.040 --> 09:27.000 the 09:27.000 --> 09:32.360 Misunderstandings that people have about walking in the spirit what it means to walk in the spirit and what Paul truly wants us to learn 09:32.360 --> 09:34.000 from Galatians chapter number five 09:34.000 --> 09:39.480 So before we get into that though, I want to lay out the context of this sermon look at Galatians 5 verse number 13 09:39.480 --> 09:42.700 One more time. It says this it says for brethren even 09:42.700 --> 09:47.780 call unto liberty, only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve 09:47.780 --> 09:49.300 one another. 09:49.300 --> 09:52.300 So the first thing I want to ask you guys this morning is what have we been called unto 09:52.300 --> 09:53.300 liberty from? 09:53.300 --> 09:57.220 And the answer is clearly from our flesh, is clearly from sin, but it's also from the 09:57.220 --> 09:59.220 bondage of the law. 09:59.220 --> 10:00.900 And we see this here in Galatians 4. 10:00.900 --> 10:03.060 Go one chapter back to Galatians 4.9. 10:03.060 --> 10:05.660 I'm going to be honest with you guys, I have a lot of verses to turn to in this sermon, 10:05.660 --> 10:09.220 so if you would do me a favor and turn to them, I would greatly appreciate it, lest 10:09.220 --> 10:10.220 you get lost. 10:10.700 --> 10:13.180 enough as it is, but if you're not going to the verses, you're just gonna get real 10:13.180 --> 10:18.380 lost. I can already tell with this sermon. So stick with me, Galatians 4, verse 10:18.380 --> 10:22.460 number 9. Look what it says there. It says, but now after you have known God, or rather 10:22.460 --> 10:27.340 are known of God, how turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto you 10:27.340 --> 10:32.860 desire again to be in bondage? And jump down to verse 21, it says, tell me ye that 10:32.860 --> 10:36.300 desire to be under the law. Do you not hear the law? For it is written that Abraham 10:36.300 --> 10:38.700 had two sons, the one by a bondage. 10:38.700 --> 10:43.160 made and the other by a free woman, but he who was of the bond woman was born out of 10:43.160 --> 10:47.340 the flesh, but he of the free woman was by the promise, excuse me, by promise, which 10:47.340 --> 10:48.740 things are an allegory. 10:48.740 --> 10:53.260 For these are the two covenants, the one from the Mount Sinai which gendereth bondage, which 10:53.260 --> 10:54.640 is agar. 10:54.640 --> 10:59.380 For this agar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and answereth to Jerusalem which now is and is 10:59.380 --> 11:01.820 in bondage with her children." 11:01.820 --> 11:05.420 And I just pointed this out recently to the people up in Spokane, but I find this like 11:05.420 --> 11:06.700 Unbelievable right here that. 11:06.700 --> 11:12.260 So many Baptist churches nowadays if we went there and told them our beliefs that the Jews are no longer God's chosen people 11:12.260 --> 11:15.660 Because they're not by the way, that's specifically what he's saying right here 11:15.660 --> 11:15.940 Okay 11:15.940 --> 11:17.700 If we go to a church and tell them that 11:17.700 --> 11:23.220 Some people will throw us out of their church for that belief for saying that the Jews are no longer God's chosen people 11:23.220 --> 11:25.860 But it's like that's exactly what Paul is saying here 11:25.860 --> 11:28.840 He uses us in this analogy to be Isaac 11:28.840 --> 11:34.180 Which is the son of the free woman and he uses Ishmael as the Jews in this analogy this allegory 11:34.700 --> 11:37.320 to show us that we are the children of promise now 11:37.320 --> 11:39.160 by faith in Jesus Christ. 11:39.160 --> 11:40.740 But how backwards are people nowadays 11:40.740 --> 11:43.240 that will go to their church and they'll throw us out 11:43.240 --> 11:45.440 for believing that the Jews are no longer God's chosen people. 11:45.440 --> 11:48.440 It's like, you've got this scripture completely wrong. 11:48.440 --> 11:50.040 You should be throwing out the rabbi 11:50.040 --> 11:51.400 that you're inviting in to preach to your church. 11:51.400 --> 11:53.840 Not us, not your fellow brethren, 11:53.840 --> 11:55.720 not your fellow son of the free woman. 11:55.720 --> 11:57.200 Then you know the rabbi that you invite in 11:57.200 --> 11:58.880 that hates Jesus Christ, 11:58.880 --> 12:00.380 that their scripture says that Jesus Christ 12:00.380 --> 12:02.700 is roasting in hell, that calls himself. 12:02.700 --> 12:05.620 rabbi even though Jesus Christ specifically says, 12:05.620 --> 12:07.800 don't let people call you rabbi. 12:07.800 --> 12:10.220 That's the person you're inviting to teach you doctrine. 12:10.220 --> 12:11.420 It's actually insane. 12:11.420 --> 12:13.140 And then they'll throw us out of the church. 12:13.140 --> 12:14.740 They got it completely backwards though. 12:14.740 --> 12:16.660 Throw out the bond woman and her son, 12:16.660 --> 12:19.100 but let the free woman stay in the church. 12:19.100 --> 12:20.980 And certainly don't throw us out for believing 12:20.980 --> 12:22.780 what the Bible actually says here. 12:23.200 --> 12:26.500 But anyways, that's a little bit off the top of what we're getting to. 12:26.500 --> 12:29.500 But Galatians 4.3, okay, just to make sure that we're clear on this though, 12:29.500 --> 12:32.800 the bondage that we've been redeemed from was the bondage of the law. 12:32.800 --> 12:34.600 This is the liberty that God has called us into. 12:34.600 --> 12:37.300 In Galatians 4.3, it says this, it says, 12:37.300 --> 12:42.100 even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. 12:42.200 --> 12:47.000 But when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth his son, made of a woman, made under the law, 12:47.000 --> 12:52.040 to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 12:52.040 --> 12:55.400 So I do want to point out though really quick with this sermon, this is very important to bring up, 12:55.400 --> 13:00.040 I feel like when it comes to this topic, the law of God in the Old Testament was not evil, 13:00.040 --> 13:05.160 and is still not evil, okay? The law of God was not evil, still is not evil. The law of God still 13:05.160 --> 13:09.560 has a purpose, as a matter of fact. It's supposed to be a schoolmaster that leads us to Jesus Christ, 13:09.560 --> 13:10.120 and it is 13:10.200 --> 13:16.060 supposed to be to allow every mouth to be stopped to realize that, hey, we are all sinners. 13:16.060 --> 13:20.320 We've all sinned and come short or the glory of God. That is the purpose of the law. But 13:20.320 --> 13:23.760 what the purpose of the law is not for is to get a salvation. Because if there was a 13:23.760 --> 13:27.760 law that was given that could get us saved, verily righteousness would be by the law. 13:27.760 --> 13:32.120 Yeah. That's what the Bible says. But go to, if you would, Romans 7 verse number 10, Romans 13:32.120 --> 13:34.320 7 verse number 10, and keep your finger in Galatians 5 because I'm going to have you 13:34.320 --> 13:38.080 guys come back to that in this sermon. But I want you to realize that the, the 13:38.200 --> 13:43.480 The law is not evil, the law is holy and righteous and just is what the Bible says in Romans 13:43.480 --> 13:48.400 and we made ourselves contrary to the law, we made ourselves enemies of the law when 13:48.400 --> 13:52.860 we chose to break the law and become sinners and become transgressors. 13:52.860 --> 13:56.480 But we are redeemed from the bondage of the law, we're redeemed from the bondage of our 13:56.480 --> 13:59.840 sin and from our flesh, but the law is not evil. 13:59.840 --> 14:04.200 I want to make that very clear with you guys, but it became bonded into us because of our 14:04.200 --> 14:06.120 sinful flesh is what the Bible teaches us, yeah? 14:06.120 --> 14:06.200 and we'll see you next time. 14:06.200 --> 14:07.440 Romans 7 and 10 it says this, it says, 14:07.440 --> 14:10.520 and the commandment which was ordained to life 14:10.520 --> 14:12.960 I found to be unto death. 14:12.960 --> 14:13.800 Why? 14:13.800 --> 14:15.380 Because when we broke the law of God, 14:15.380 --> 14:17.480 we made ourselves contrary to the law of God, 14:17.480 --> 14:19.160 is what I always say to you guys, yeah? 14:19.160 --> 14:22.160 But it was originally for to be unto life, right? 14:22.160 --> 14:24.440 And if you keep the whole commandment of God perfectly, 14:24.440 --> 14:25.400 then you will have eternal life, 14:25.400 --> 14:28.200 but the news flash is that nobody can do that, right? 14:28.200 --> 14:30.520 We're all familiar with this though, but. 14:30.900 --> 14:36.740 Why I'm bringing this all up though is this is just just because we're no longer under the bondage of the law does that mean? 14:37.020 --> 14:40.300 That we can just live however we want to as Christians 14:40.380 --> 14:45.340 No, absolutely not because that's not what he says in Galatians 513 because a lot of people be like oh in the New Testament 14:45.340 --> 14:50.220 We're free in Christ, bro, but you're you're misunderstanding the Liberty in this passage of scripture 14:50.220 --> 14:52.820 Okay, first Galatians 513 look what it says one more time 14:52.820 --> 14:58.420 It says for brethren you've been called unto Liberty only use not Liberty for an occasion to the flesh 14:58.900 --> 15:01.660 but by love serve one another. 15:01.660 --> 15:04.540 So we've been redeemed from the bondage of the law 15:04.540 --> 15:06.100 not to live however we want, 15:06.100 --> 15:09.020 but to serve one another is what the Bible says. 15:09.020 --> 15:11.880 To serve one another in love, excuse me. 15:12.300 --> 15:13.460 But someone might look at this and be like, 15:13.460 --> 15:14.540 well, wait a minute though. 15:14.540 --> 15:16.660 If Paul is saying we're redeemed from bondage, 15:16.660 --> 15:18.060 how then is he telling us to, 15:18.060 --> 15:19.100 he's turning around and saying like, 15:19.100 --> 15:21.500 hey, but we have to serve one another. 15:21.500 --> 15:22.900 Isn't that bondage? 15:22.900 --> 15:24.100 The answer is no, and here's why. 15:24.100 --> 15:26.140 Because, well, there's a couple things to this, 15:26.140 --> 15:27.860 but number one I'd say about this is that 15:27.860 --> 15:30.260 the liberty that we've been called into as Christians 15:30.260 --> 15:34.420 is not a liberty that means that we no longer have any master, 15:34.420 --> 15:36.700 but the liberty that we have is that we can choose 15:36.700 --> 15:38.820 which master that we want to serve. 15:38.820 --> 15:40.300 Go to Luke 16 verse. 15:40.300 --> 15:43.700 number 13. There's a couple other things I'll touch on with liberty concerning that, but 15:43.700 --> 15:47.100 go to Luke 16, 13. I want to bring up this point to you because sometimes people will 15:47.100 --> 15:51.860 try to throw this point in our face and be like, oh, we've gone from one bondage to another 15:51.860 --> 15:56.260 or whatever or something like that. But the reality is not so. The liberty that he's talking 15:56.260 --> 16:00.580 about though here is that we have the liberty to now choose to walk in the spirit. Whereas 16:00.580 --> 16:06.900 before we were subject and we had to walk in the flesh. Luke 16 verse 13, it says, no 16:06.900 --> 16:08.300 servant can serve two masters. 16:08.300 --> 16:10.900 or either will hate the one and love the other, 16:10.900 --> 16:13.260 or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. 16:13.260 --> 16:15.720 You cannot serve God and mammon. 16:15.720 --> 16:18.500 So notice, you can't serve two masters. 16:18.500 --> 16:21.820 You either serve God or you serve mammon right here. 16:21.820 --> 16:23.220 But if you don't choose to serve God, 16:23.220 --> 16:24.780 are you just masterless? 16:24.780 --> 16:28.940 No, you would be the servant of mammon, yeah? 16:28.940 --> 16:32.340 So there is no such thing as just not having a master. 16:32.340 --> 16:35.140 Someone or something is your master. 16:35.140 --> 16:36.300 Someone or something. 16:36.300 --> 16:39.980 you are serving this morning, whether you realize it or not. 16:39.980 --> 16:44.560 And as saved Christians, now that we have liberty in Jesus Christ, we can choose what 16:44.560 --> 16:49.080 master we want to serve. We can choose to serve the flesh or we can choose to serve 16:49.080 --> 16:53.340 Jesus Christ. This is part of the liberty that we've been called unto. But if you would 16:53.340 --> 16:59.580 go to 2 Corinthians 3, verse number 17, 2 Corinthians 3, verse number 17, because someone 16:59.580 --> 17:03.300 might think like, well, no, I just do my own thing in this life. But concerning the moral law of God, 23:25.460 --> 23:28.340 we're not telling them that they should just disobey those things, we're just telling them 23:28.340 --> 23:32.740 that you cannot obey those things to be saved. This is evident in the Bible though, okay? This is not just talking about unsafe people who is just talking about it's talking about the people 27:38.280 --> 27:43.180 That would be in church with you, right? You are not walking the spirit. You are walking 30:14.900 --> 30:19.560 in the flesh. You are walking contrary to the Spirit of God. And I want to show you, 30:19.560 --> 30:23.600 and one of the clearest examples of this in the Bible in my opinion is the story of David 30:23.600 --> 30:27.620 and Saul. Because think about this, like Saul, when he gets the Spirit of the Lord taken 30:27.620 --> 30:29.460 away from him, and obviously we know that's not salvation, but I'm not getting into that 30:29.460 --> 30:33.680 right now, okay? And he's getting afflicted with this evil spirit. What is his whole life 30:33.680 --> 30:34.180 centered around? 30:35.200 --> 30:41.700 Killing David trying to take down his brother in crisis what his whole life is centered around at that point surely that's not in the spirit 30:41.700 --> 30:49.720 That's clearly of the flesh. And when it comes to walking in the Spirit, well, this is important because 43:19.480 --> 43:25.180 it extends over just the clear written letters of the law of God. And this is another reason 43:25.180 --> 43:27.920 why I was saying that it's not just obeying the law of God that is walking in the Spirit. 43:27.920 --> 43:32.520 Because if you think about someone like Paul in the Bible, if you know 1 Corinthians, Paul 43:32.520 --> 43:37.120 says, he makes a huge argument in 1 Corinthians and says, hey, a laborer is worthy of his 43:37.120 --> 43:41.280 reward and you're not supposed to muzzle the ox that treadeth the corn, right? Which means 43:41.280 --> 43:43.000 that if you are in the 43:43.000 --> 43:47.080 the ministry he uses to say this, that you should be getting paid for being in the ministry 43:47.080 --> 43:48.080 of God. 43:48.080 --> 43:52.100 If you're a full-time pastor, you should be getting paid as a full-time pastor because 43:52.100 --> 43:55.120 even cows get to eat when they're out there laboring in the field. 43:55.120 --> 43:56.760 That's the point that Paul's making. 43:56.760 --> 43:59.680 And there's people out there that say that you shouldn't be your pastor, which is beyond 43:59.680 --> 44:01.560 bizarre, okay? 44:01.560 --> 44:07.680 But when it comes to that subject, okay, Paul, if you remember the story of Corinthians, 44:07.680 --> 44:10.400 he does not receive pay from the Corinthians though. 44:10.800 --> 44:12.400 And you have to ask yourself why. 44:12.400 --> 44:13.200 Why? 44:13.200 --> 44:17.600 If Paul deserves to be paid, if he deserves to be getting paid because even a cow should 44:17.600 --> 44:23.200 be getting food when he's out there treading the corn, then why isn't he receiving wages 44:23.200 --> 44:24.400 from the Corinthians? 44:24.400 --> 44:28.400 And the answer is not because the law told him to, because the law would give him the 44:28.400 --> 44:30.000 benefit of getting these payments. 44:30.000 --> 44:32.800 The answer is this is because Paul was walking in the spirit. 44:32.800 --> 44:38.000 Because Paul wasn't just concerned about himself and the things of his flesh, he was genuinely 44:38.000 --> 44:38.800 concern for the 44:38.800 --> 44:42.740 needs of the kingdom of God and for the people of Corinth, right? 44:42.740 --> 44:43.740 That is walking in the spirit. 44:43.740 --> 44:47.220 It goes beyond just even the letter of the covenant and to where it guides you into things 44:47.220 --> 44:49.380 that the Bible doesn't even specifically lay out. 44:49.380 --> 44:51.380 Because obviously there's no verse that says 44:51.800 --> 44:53.820 you know, make sure you pay your pastor, 44:53.820 --> 44:55.420 unless it would cause damage to the ministry, 44:55.420 --> 44:56.780 and then don't receive pay, 44:56.780 --> 44:58.320 because that would be a bad idea, right? 44:58.320 --> 45:01.300 It's the spirit that guides him into doing that, yeah? 45:01.300 --> 45:02.460 So my point of showing you that is this, 45:02.460 --> 45:06.020 is that just following the strict letter of the law, per se, 45:06.020 --> 45:07.260 is not just walking in the spirit, 45:07.260 --> 45:09.420 because again, there are people that follow 45:09.420 --> 45:11.300 the commandments of the law, 45:11.300 --> 45:13.740 and that try to obey every jot and tittle of the law, 45:13.740 --> 45:15.340 and yet they don't have the Holy Spirit. 45:15.340 --> 45:17.000 So they're not walking in the spirit at all. 45:17.100 --> 45:18.380 You guys follow what I mean? 45:18.380 --> 45:20.680 The unsafe people of this world is what I'm talking about 45:20.680 --> 45:21.780 in this, okay? 45:21.780 --> 45:24.440 But I'm pointing out to you guys as well that... 45:24.900 --> 45:28.620 Walking in the spirit and walking the flesh are contrary to each other 45:28.620 --> 45:29.560 That's what we see in verse 17 45:29.560 --> 45:34.680 Lucas as it says for the flesh lusted against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh and these are 45:35.020 --> 45:40.880 Contrary the one to the other so that you cannot do the things that you would but if you be led of the spirit 45:40.880 --> 45:46.020 You're not under the law. So a few things about this obviously we know that 48:43.980 --> 48:46.620 when he says that they that do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God 48:46.620 --> 48:50.820 this is 100% true because if you even die with one sin on your record you will go 48:50.820 --> 48:54.500 to hell when you die period but the beauty of us with salvation 48:54.500 --> 48:58.300 in the New Testament is this, is that if you believe on Jesus Christ, all of your sins 48:58.300 --> 48:59.300 are wiped away. 48:59.300 --> 49:03.140 So we are none of the things on this list because when we go to heaven one day, it's 49:03.140 --> 49:07.260 not going to be like, oh, you know, you were kind of a, God's going to see us a hundred 49:07.260 --> 49:08.800 percent as perfect, right? 49:08.800 --> 49:11.860 Because we have the righteousness of Jesus Christ applied to our hearts. 49:11.860 --> 49:14.440 So it's not going to be like, so this is what I'd say. 49:14.440 --> 49:15.620 So we are none of these things. 49:15.620 --> 49:16.620 It's true. 49:16.620 --> 49:19.740 Anybody that's, anybody that has any sin on their record at all, like it says in Revelation 49:19.740 --> 49:22.500 21A they will get cast into the lake of fire. 49:22.500 --> 49:25.780 But we've been purged from our sins by the blood of Jesus Christ. 49:26.300 --> 49:29.400 So this this people try to use this to say you can lose yourself. 49:29.400 --> 49:30.200 That doesn't make any sense. 49:30.200 --> 49:34.600 OK, I'd also point out as well sometimes because we obviously believe the reprobate 49:34.600 --> 49:38.400 doctrine where, you know, we're not supposed to be loving people that hate the Lord. 49:38.400 --> 49:38.700 Right. 49:39.400 --> 49:43.500 And these people that are haters of God, we hate them as well. 49:43.500 --> 49:47.000 And righteously so because the Bible says do not I hate them a Lord that hate thee. 49:47.400 --> 49:49.200 And that's David that says that in the Psalms. 49:49.400 --> 49:50.100 We all know this though. 49:50.100 --> 49:54.200 But I'm bringing this up because sometimes for people to try to debunk what we believe about that, they'll go to 49:54.300 --> 49:59.220 these verses and be like, well, it says here that hatred's a work of the flesh. 49:59.220 --> 50:02.460 What I'd submit to you, first of all, is that Paul is speaking generally here, but second 50:02.460 --> 50:05.340 of all, he's talking about the works of the flesh though. 50:05.340 --> 50:06.340 That's what you have to consider. 50:06.340 --> 50:07.340 Isn't that what he said? 50:07.340 --> 50:08.340 These are the works of the flesh. 50:08.340 --> 50:09.340 They're manifest in this. 50:09.340 --> 50:13.940 But let me ask you, if you hate someone that hates God, is that a work of the flesh? 50:13.940 --> 50:15.980 No, it's a righteous anger, right? 50:15.980 --> 50:18.960 It's a righteous hatred that comes from the spirit. 50:18.960 --> 50:22.020 That's why David says that under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, yeah? 50:22.300 --> 50:23.840 So this is not a work of the flesh. 50:23.840 --> 50:26.800 This is a really bizarre, twisting of scripture 50:26.800 --> 50:27.980 that people go to. 50:27.980 --> 50:29.560 But Paul is also speaking in general here 50:29.560 --> 50:33.260 because 99.9% of the time when we're hating something, 50:33.260 --> 50:35.280 it is not just because they're revered, right? 50:35.280 --> 50:39.000 It's because of something that has to do with our flesh. 50:39.000 --> 50:40.320 But the last thing I wanted to say about this 50:40.320 --> 50:42.940 is that these verses here help us verify. 50:43.100 --> 50:45.280 what it means to walk in the spirit, 50:45.280 --> 50:46.680 or excuse me, to walk in the flesh, 50:46.680 --> 50:47.940 not in the spirit, excuse me, 50:47.940 --> 50:51.980 because this summarizes what you would expect 50:51.980 --> 50:55.260 to see from someone that is walking in the flesh. 50:55.260 --> 50:56.940 They're gonna be having all these sins, 50:56.940 --> 50:59.400 all these bad things about their life. 50:59.400 --> 51:01.980 And if this list describes you today as a Christian, 51:01.980 --> 51:04.900 that just means that you're walking in the flesh, 51:04.900 --> 51:06.880 and you need to knock that off as a Christian, okay? 51:06.880 --> 51:09.760 Because we've been called not to use our liberty 51:09.760 --> 51:11.100 as an occasion to serve our own flesh. 51:11.100 --> 51:13.620 But to serve one another is what I've already shown you in these verses, right? 51:13.740 --> 51:19.520 So if this list describes your life you need to get your head on straight as a Christian and start walking in the Spirit of 51:19.520 --> 51:26.100 God instead and not in the flesh because listen this world that we're walking through we have such a short time here 51:26.100 --> 51:31.380 So why would we waste our time on the petty stupid things in this world? They're gonna vanish away any day 51:31.900 --> 51:39.060 Someday anyways doesn't make any sense walk in the spirit these spirits of mine because spirit being spiritual minded is games with 51:39.100 --> 51:42.740 Bible says. That's what Paul is basically saying right here in my opinion 56:11.340 --> 56:14.900 Okay, he's saying against such there is no law, but this 56:14.900 --> 56:18.740 The second thing I want to close this sermon on is this, is that these attributes should 56:18.740 --> 56:20.740 define you as a Christian. 56:20.740 --> 56:23.140 If we took these attributes to someone in your life... 56:23.500 --> 56:26.340 And we show them and be like, hey, does this describe so-and-so? 56:26.340 --> 56:29.460 They should be able to say, yes, that describes you to a T, 56:29.460 --> 56:32.140 because that's walking in the spirit. 56:32.140 --> 56:33.460 When you're walking in the spirit, 56:33.460 --> 56:34.820 this should be the fruits of it. 56:34.820 --> 56:39.260 You should be having love and joy and peace and longsuffering 56:39.260 --> 56:42.340 and gentleness and goodness and faith and meekness 56:42.340 --> 56:43.300 and temperance. 56:43.300 --> 56:45.460 These are the things that should describe you as a Christian 56:45.460 --> 56:47.060 when you're walking in the spirit. 56:47.060 --> 56:49.980 And so he's giving us the guideline here 56:49.980 --> 56:51.460 to know when 56:51.500 --> 56:54.740 we're walking in the flesh versus when we're walking in the spirit, right? 56:54.740 --> 56:59.380 So if these things don't describe you as a Christian, start walking in the spirit then. 56:59.380 --> 57:00.380 Because it should. 57:00.380 --> 57:03.660 Because if you're being spiritually minded, like I was saying to you earlier, these things 57:03.660 --> 57:05.820 should be all over you as a Christian. 57:05.820 --> 57:09.540 If you are being spiritually minded and you're loving your neighbors yourself, love should 57:09.540 --> 57:11.060 describe you. 57:11.060 --> 57:13.420 Gentleness should describe you most of the time. 57:13.420 --> 57:14.420 Being peaceful. 57:14.420 --> 57:17.220 The Bible says that we're supposed to, as much as it lies within us, we're supposed 57:17.220 --> 57:18.660 to live peaceably with all men. 57:18.660 --> 57:19.500 Isn't that what the Bible says? 57:19.500 --> 57:20.100 Thank you for watching. 57:20.200 --> 57:26.400 Romans these things should describe us as Christians. Most people aren't faithful enough. Most people aren't gentle enough. Most people aren't 57:48.200 --> 57:51.640 Meek enough, most people don't have enough temperance, right? 57:52.200 --> 57:56.680 Against such there is no law as we said. Okay, last couple verses Galatians 5.26 says this 57:57.240 --> 58:02.280 Let us not be desirous of vain glory provoking one another envying one. Oh, excuse me 58:03.080 --> 58:07.560 I skipped over these verses verse 24 says and they that are christ have crucified the flesh with the 58:07.560 --> 58:12.920 affections and lusts if we live in the spirit, let us also walk in the spirit think about this 58:12.920 --> 58:16.920 for a second as well doesn't this show you that it's possible to be saved as a christian to have 58:16.920 --> 58:20.040 the holy spirit without walking in the spirit that's exactly what that 58:20.200 --> 58:23.000 says right here because sometimes people will say like they'll use these verses 58:23.000 --> 58:27.160 and be like well if you're really saved then this should describe you. Wrong. If 58:27.160 --> 58:31.500 you're walking in the spirit this should describe you but it's possible to live 58:31.500 --> 58:35.800 in the spirit without walking in the spirit is what we see very clearly from 58:35.800 --> 58:39.660 these verses. So nice try work salvation. They always start to slip in some dumb 58:39.660 --> 58:43.920 stuff all over in the Bible. It's like it's like dude it could not be more 58:43.920 --> 58:46.100 clear it's by faith in Jesus Christ. That is carnal friend. As a Christian, we're supposed 59:20.020 --> 59:25.100 to be abasing ourselves and allowing someone else to exalt us. Beware of these bozos out 59:25.100 --> 59:29.340 here that are always just exalting themselves and always saying, look how great I am. And 59:29.340 --> 59:32.860 then they're always taking other people down. That's not of the spirit. That's a hundred 59:32.860 --> 59:34.340 percent of the flesh. 59:35.000 --> 59:36.360 Same thing with provoking one another. 59:36.360 --> 59:39.480 When there's people that are just always trying to pick fights with someone, 59:39.480 --> 59:44.280 that's always trying to go after someone, that's always just trying to rip someone apart. 59:44.280 --> 59:48.520 Beware! Beware when someone's always just causing strife in the church. 59:48.520 --> 59:50.680 That's not of the spirit, that's of the flesh again as well. 59:51.320 --> 59:52.520 And envying one another. 59:52.520 --> 59:57.560 There's another thing that people just love to bring people down because they want some of the 59:57.560 --> 01:00:02.520 love that someone else has.
