WEBVTT

21:21.100 --> 21:24.540
Song books to turn to page number 404.

21:24.540 --> 21:27.780
We're going to be singing When the Battle's Over.

21:27.780 --> 21:29.540
Welcome to Sherr Foundation Baptist Church.

21:29.540 --> 21:31.180
You can find your seats and grab your song books.

21:31.180 --> 21:33.740
Turn to page number 404.

21:33.740 --> 21:36.700
We're going to be singing When the Battle's Over.

21:40.400 --> 21:45.200
On page 404, let's sing it together on the 1st.

21:45.200 --> 21:50.700
Am I a soldier of the cross afar?

21:56.200 --> 21:57.680
I'm sorry I messed it up, okay?

21:57.680 --> 22:01.080
Let's take it back up from the second part of that verse.

22:01.080 --> 22:03.280
I was, why do they got these all parentheses up

22:03.280 --> 22:04.200
right there, okay?

22:04.200 --> 22:06.400
This is the book's fault, it's not my fault, okay?

22:06.400 --> 22:07.400
This is good leadership over here, okay?

22:07.400 --> 22:09.360
Just deflect as much as you can.

22:09.360 --> 22:11.260
Let's take it from this second, okay?

22:11.260 --> 22:15.940
And shall I fear to own his cause

22:15.940 --> 22:20.100
or blush to speak his name?

22:20.900 --> 22:24.900
When the battle's over, we shall wear a crown.

22:25.100 --> 22:27.400
Yes, we shall wear a crown.

22:27.400 --> 22:29.900
Yes, we shall wear a crown.

22:29.900 --> 22:34.540
And when the battle's over, we shall wear a crown

22:34.540 --> 22:39.140
in the new Jerusalem.

22:39.140 --> 22:48.440
Wear a crown, wear a crown, wear a bright and shining crown.

22:48.440 --> 22:52.660
And when the battle's over, we shall wear a crown.

22:53.100 --> 22:57.100
in the new Jerusalem.

22:57.300 --> 23:06.560
Must I be carried to the skies on flowery beds of ease?

23:06.560 --> 23:15.660
While others fought to win the prize and sail through bloody seas.

23:15.660 --> 23:20.440
And when the battle's over, we shall wear a crown.

23:20.440 --> 23:25.240
Yes, we shall wear a crown. Yes, we shall wear a crown.

23:25.300 --> 23:34.260
And when the battle's over, we shall wear a crown in the new Jerusalem.

23:34.260 --> 23:43.460
Wear a crown, wear a crown, wear a bright and shining crown.

23:43.460 --> 23:51.540
And when the battle's over, we shall wear a crown in the new Jerusalem.

23:51.540 --> 23:53.300
On the last Shura...

23:53.300 --> 24:04.940
I must fight if I would rain increase my courage Lord I'll bear the toil endure

24:04.940 --> 24:10.600
the pain supported by thy word

24:10.800 --> 24:15.400
And when the battle's over, we shall wear a crown.

24:15.400 --> 24:17.760
Yes, we shall wear a crown.

24:17.760 --> 24:20.080
Yes, we shall wear a crown.

24:20.080 --> 24:24.480
And when the battle's over, we shall wear a crown

24:24.480 --> 24:29.040
in the New Jerusalem.

24:29.040 --> 24:33.680
Wear a crown, wear a crown,

24:33.680 --> 24:38.200
wear a bright and shining crown.

24:38.200 --> 24:38.700
and

24:38.800 --> 24:47.200
And when the battle's over, we shall wear a crown in the new Jerusalem.

24:47.200 --> 24:48.200
Amen.

24:48.200 --> 24:50.480
Good singing, Brother Daniel, because that was open to us up in a word of prayer.

24:56.800 --> 24:58.760
I'll bless those that are on the way here.

25:02.600 --> 25:03.600
Amen.

25:03.600 --> 25:07.360
Our second song is song number 332, Channels Only.

25:10.900 --> 25:15.220
Song number 332, Channels Only.

25:17.500 --> 25:22.100
Song 332, Sing It Together on the First.

25:22.500 --> 25:30.640
How I praise thee, precious Savior, that thy love laid hold of me.

25:30.640 --> 25:38.820
Thou hast saved and cleansed and filled me, that I might thy channel be.

25:38.820 --> 25:47.260
Channel's only blessed master, but with all thy wondrous power.

25:47.260 --> 25:50.500
Flowing through us, thou canst hear

25:50.500 --> 25:57.500
Use us every day and every hour.

25:57.500 --> 26:05.500
Empty that thou shouldst fill me, A clean vessel in thy hand.

26:05.500 --> 26:14.500
With no power but as thou givest, Graciously with each command,

26:14.500 --> 26:18.500
Channels only, blessed master

26:18.500 --> 26:22.500
but with all thy wondrous power.

26:23.100 --> 26:33.100
Flowing through us, thou canst use us, every day and every hour.

26:33.100 --> 26:41.700
Witnessing thy power to save me, setting free from self and sin.

26:41.700 --> 26:50.100
Thou who bodest to possess me in thy fullness, Lord come in.

26:50.100 --> 26:51.100
channel

26:51.100 --> 27:01.340
only blessed master but with all thy wondrous power flowing through us thou

27:01.340 --> 27:13.580
can't use us every day and every hour on the last Jesus fill now with thy spirit

27:13.580 --> 27:19.100
hearts that full surrender know that the

27:19.100 --> 27:31.540
streams of living water from our inner man they flow channels only blessed master but

27:31.540 --> 27:45.680
with all thy wondrous power flowing through us thou canst use us every day and every hour

27:45.680 --> 27:47.040
Amen. Good to see you this time. We'll have

27:47.100 --> 27:48.000
announcements.

27:52.900 --> 27:57.860
All right, good evening everyone. The verse of the week is John 8 verse 36.

27:57.860 --> 28:04.980
John 8 verse 36. If thy son therefore shall make you free, he shall be free indeed.

28:05.500 --> 28:07.500
service times are

28:07.540 --> 28:09.340
1030, 330 on Sunday with

28:09.380 --> 28:10.940
630 on Wednesday.

28:10.980 --> 28:13.240
So many times are 1230 on

28:13.280 --> 28:15.080
Saturdays and 1 PM on

28:15.120 --> 28:16.220
Sunday.

28:16.240 --> 28:18.320
For June we had 15

28:18.340 --> 28:19.120
salvations.

28:19.140 --> 28:21.520
So far in July we have

28:21.560 --> 28:23.520
five for a total of 106

28:23.560 --> 28:25.320
salvations.

28:25.320 --> 28:26.300
innovations.

28:27.100 --> 28:34.700
All right, attendance is down below. Upcoming events in July 28th. That would be the next

28:34.700 --> 28:39.980
homeschool day here at the building at 11 a.m. Just RSVP with Ms. Kylie so she can plan the

28:39.980 --> 28:43.900
games, food, and all the other things that go into that event.

28:44.200 --> 28:50.980
Currently we're in the middle or in process of having the July-August Summer Soul Awareness

28:50.980 --> 28:57.940
Challenge where we invite 25 people to church and preach them gospel and this is outside

28:57.940 --> 29:00.300
of normal soul winning times.

29:00.300 --> 29:07.820
So just obviously going good so far but it's good to have that.

29:09.300 --> 29:14.540
Hopefully everyone is able to get through that and we get a few more visitors and a few more salvations in this month

29:15.260 --> 29:17.260
All right

29:17.300 --> 29:23.540
See here kids your memory verse right now is Matthew 19 verse 14 Matthew 19 verse 14

29:23.900 --> 29:30.900
But Jesus said suffer little children and forbid them not to come unto me for of such is the kingdom of heaven

29:34.000 --> 29:36.000
Tithes and rules are down below.

29:36.000 --> 29:40.000
Yesterday was a pastor and his wife's anniversary.

29:40.000 --> 29:44.000
So hopefully had time to wish them a happy anniversary.

29:44.000 --> 29:49.000
Coming up shortly in the next week is Miss Sherry's birthday

29:49.000 --> 29:55.000
followed by Melana the 15th and Abby Graber coming up on the 19th.

29:55.000 --> 29:59.000
So yeah, next week. All of those are next week.

29:59.000 --> 30:00.500
So just so you know.

30:00.800 --> 30:04.640
If you have any other prayer requests, please let the Thompson's known.

30:04.640 --> 30:05.960
They will add it to the bulletin.

30:06.300 --> 30:08.300
move that let's turn to Lord in prayer.

30:08.300 --> 30:10.300
Hello Father, thank you so much today.

30:10.300 --> 30:12.300
Thank you so much for allowing us to come here.

30:12.300 --> 30:14.300
We pray for those that may have been pulled away tonight

30:14.300 --> 30:16.300
for various reasons. We pray for those that

30:16.300 --> 30:18.300
may still be traveling here.

30:18.300 --> 30:20.300
We just pray that they arrive

30:20.300 --> 30:22.300
safely. Lord, we also keep in prayer

30:22.300 --> 30:24.300
Amanda

30:24.300 --> 30:26.300
and the Gats right now

30:26.300 --> 30:28.300
because they have

30:28.300 --> 30:30.300
a family loss. Let's just

30:30.300 --> 30:32.300
keep them in prayer in this time of grief.

30:32.300 --> 30:34.300
Let's also keep Sister Adji

30:34.300 --> 30:39.460
from Yakima on prayer because her health is not going well right now so keep them

30:39.460 --> 30:45.040
in prayer. I'll also keep Amanda mother in prayer for God's guidance in her life. My

30:45.040 --> 30:51.700
wife's father and her aunt's prayer just for their health and also for Jones

30:51.700 --> 30:55.660
Lupus treatment. For God's will and Timothy's life, justice in Shanika's life.

30:55.660 --> 30:59.640
Lamon's family with their baby just recovering from the surgery that did go

30:59.640 --> 31:00.300
well.

31:00.600 --> 31:04.540
And also for keeping prayer for Kylie's great grandmother,

31:04.540 --> 31:06.340
even though she has recovered from the hospital,

31:06.340 --> 31:08.740
we all know these things can take time to heal.

31:08.740 --> 31:12.340
Keep Kyle's in health and also for his uncle, who has,

31:12.340 --> 31:13.140
I believe,

31:13.500 --> 31:16.400
turn for the worst in comfort care,

31:16.400 --> 31:18.140
so keep them in prayer as well.

31:19.500 --> 31:21.860
And let's just keep all the people in prayers.

31:21.860 --> 31:24.300
We come into the heat time, there's a lot of fires,

31:24.300 --> 31:25.700
heat stroke and a lot of other things

31:25.700 --> 31:26.820
that can be happening right now.

31:26.820 --> 31:29.100
Let's keep this whole church in prayer for safety

31:29.100 --> 31:32.500
during the blistering heat right now.

31:32.500 --> 31:34.900
In all these things we pray in Jesus' name, amen.

31:43.000 --> 31:47.000
And our next song is song number 315, Take My Life and Let It Be.

31:52.700 --> 31:57.080
Song number 315 take my life and let it be

32:00.000 --> 32:06.000
And then after this, I'll do the Bible reading when Brother Paul does the offering.

32:06.000 --> 32:09.000
Kylie, could you give me my Bible too, as a matter of fact, so I can get there?

32:09.000 --> 32:13.000
Song number 315, Take My Life and Let It Be.

32:13.000 --> 32:16.000
Let's sing it together on the first.

32:16.800 --> 32:22.260
Take my life and let it be

32:22.260 --> 32:27.660
Consecrated Lord to thee

32:27.660 --> 32:33.100
Take my hands and let them move

32:33.100 --> 32:38.500
At the impulse of thy love

32:38.500 --> 32:43.900
At the impulse of thy love

32:43.900 --> 32:44.800
Take

32:44.800 --> 33:01.560
my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for thee. Take my voice and let me sing, always

33:01.560 --> 33:12.720
only for my King, always only for my King. Take my

33:12.800 --> 33:21.360
Silver and my gold, not a mite would I withhold.

33:21.700 --> 33:32.740
Take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise.

33:32.740 --> 33:38.260
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

33:38.260 --> 33:49.060
Take my will and make it thine, it shall be no longer mine.

33:49.060 --> 33:49.700
day

33:49.700 --> 34:03.180
my heart it is thine own it shall be thy royal throne it shall be thy royal

34:03.180 --> 34:08.700
throne amen good scene brother Paul could you bless the offering for us

34:17.000 --> 34:24.800
Lord, all of us will come in time of sickness, in time of hurt, in times of trouble, just as us, our families, our church.

34:24.800 --> 34:32.000
Lord, let us always remember to look diligently to help one another, especially those that are safe in Christ. In Jesus' name, amen.

34:41.500 --> 34:49.500
Alright, if you guys want to turn your bells to 1st Corinthians chapter number 14, we're going to read the whole chapter as is our custom.

34:49.500 --> 34:55.400
1st Corinthians chapter number 14. We'll begin there.

34:55.500 --> 35:00.140
at verse number one where the bible says fall after charity and desire spiritual gifts but rather

35:00.140 --> 35:04.220
that you may prophesy for he that speaking in unknown tongues speaketh not unto men but unto

35:04.220 --> 35:09.020
god for no man understandeth him albeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries but he that prophesied

35:09.020 --> 35:13.580
speaketh unto men to edification and exhortation and comfort he that speaking in unknown tongue

35:13.580 --> 35:17.820
edifyeth himself but he that prophesied edifyeth the church i would that you all speak with tongues

35:17.820 --> 35:22.460
but rather that you prophesied for greater is he that prophesied than he that speaketh with tongues

35:22.460 --> 35:23.460
except to interpret.

35:23.500 --> 35:27.900
the church may receive edifying. Now brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall

35:27.900 --> 35:33.340
I profit you except I shall speak to you either by revelation or by knowledge or by prophesying or

35:33.340 --> 35:39.020
by doctrine? And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a

35:39.020 --> 35:44.220
distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet give

35:44.220 --> 35:49.660
an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? So likewise ye, except ye utter by the

35:49.660 --> 35:51.500
tongue words easy to be understood.

35:51.500 --> 35:57.020
How shall be known what is spoken for you shall speak into the air there are it may be so many kinds of voices in

35:57.020 --> 35:58.540
The world and none of them is without

35:58.540 --> 36:04.580
Signification therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian he that speaketh shall

36:04.580 --> 36:09.980
Be a barbarian unto me even so ye for as much as you are zealous of spiritual gifts seek that you may

36:09.980 --> 36:12.100
Edify or excel to the edifying of the church

36:12.460 --> 36:19.440
Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret for I for if I pray in an unknown tongue my spirit

36:19.500 --> 36:23.720
pray it, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the Spirit,

36:23.720 --> 36:26.660
and I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the Spirit, and I will sing

36:26.660 --> 36:30.880
with the understanding also. Else, when thou shalt bless with the Spirit, how shall he

36:30.880 --> 36:34.820
that occupyeth the room of the unlearned say, Amen, at the beginning of thanks, seeing he

36:34.820 --> 36:38.220
understandeth not what thou sayest? For thou verily giveest thanks well, but the other

36:38.220 --> 36:40.280
is not edified. I thank my God.

36:41.000 --> 36:42.640
I speak with tongues more than ye all.

36:42.640 --> 36:45.080
Yet in the church I'd rather speak five words

36:45.080 --> 36:47.140
with my understanding, that by my voice

36:47.140 --> 36:50.520
I might teach others also, than 10,000 words

36:50.520 --> 36:51.680
in an unknown tongue.

36:51.680 --> 36:53.520
Brethren, be not children understanding,

36:53.520 --> 36:56.480
how be it in malice be children, but in understanding be men.

36:56.480 --> 36:58.520
In the law it is written with men of other tongues

36:58.520 --> 37:00.220
and other lips, while I speak unto this people,

37:00.220 --> 37:03.560
and yet for all that will they not hear me,

37:03.560 --> 37:04.820
hear me say it the Lord.

37:04.820 --> 37:06.500
Wherefore tongues are for a sign,

37:06.500 --> 37:08.640
not for them that believe, but to them that believe not.

37:08.640 --> 37:09.000
But

37:09.000 --> 37:15.460
Prophesying service not for them that believe not but for them that which believe if therefore the whole church become together into one place

37:15.460 --> 37:19.860
And all speak with tongues and there come in those that are unlearned or unbelievers

37:19.980 --> 37:21.980
Will they not say that you're mad?

37:22.060 --> 37:28.260
But if all prophesy and there come in one that believeth not or one learned he is convinced of all he is judged of all

37:28.260 --> 37:31.580
And thus the secrets of his heart made manifest and so falling down on his face

37:31.580 --> 37:33.560
He will worship God and report that God is in you of a truth

37:33.660 --> 37:36.600
How is it then brethren when you come together every one of you?

37:37.000 --> 37:41.400
have a psalm, have a doctrine, have a tongue, have a revelation, have an interpretation,

37:41.400 --> 37:44.200
let all things be done unto edifying.

37:44.400 --> 37:50.240
If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two or by the or by at the or at

37:50.240 --> 37:53.480
the most by three and not by course and let one interpret.

37:53.480 --> 37:57.580
But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church and let him speak to

37:57.580 --> 37:58.920
himself and to God.

37:58.920 --> 38:01.920
Let the prophet speak two or three and let the other judge.

38:01.920 --> 38:06.120
If anything be revealed to another that saith by that the first hold his peace for ye may

38:06.120 --> 38:12.080
all prophesy one by one and all that all may be that all may learn and all may be comforted.

38:12.400 --> 38:17.440
to the prophets are subject to the prophets for God is not the author of confusion but of peace

38:17.440 --> 38:22.720
as in all churches of the saints. Let your women keep silence in the churches for it is not permitted

38:22.720 --> 38:27.520
unto them to speak but they are commanded to be under obedience as also say at the law and if they

38:27.520 --> 38:31.840
will learn anything let them ask their husband at home for it is a shame for women to speak in the

38:31.840 --> 38:34.560
church. What came the word of God out from you?

38:35.200 --> 38:40.320
came unto you only. If any man think himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let

38:40.320 --> 38:43.120
him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of

38:43.120 --> 38:47.020
the Lord. But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. Wherefore, brethren,

38:47.020 --> 38:51.040
covet to prophesy and forbid not to speak with tongues. Let all things be

38:51.040 --> 38:55.120
done decently and in order. Let's pray. Dear Father God, thank you so much for this

38:55.120 --> 38:57.760
wonderful day. Thank you so much for everything you do for us, God. Thank you

38:57.760 --> 39:00.600
so much for this church, God, and for everybody that came to church tonight, God. I just

39:00.600 --> 39:03.200
pray that you be with the people that couldn't make it, God. I just pray that

39:03.200 --> 39:09.040
you would help me right now, God, to preach a sermon that'd be edifying to people in this

39:09.040 --> 39:12.560
room. I just pray that you'd help me to interpret this passage well in a way that pleases you,

39:12.560 --> 39:16.800
in a way that's correct, God. And I just pray that I could help the people in this room

39:16.800 --> 39:19.960
to understand this chapter better when I'm done with this sermon. I pray that you'd keep

39:19.960 --> 39:22.280
me from saying what you don't want me to say, help me to say boldly what you do want me

39:22.280 --> 39:25.200
to say, and I pray that you'd help me to have a clear train of thought as I preach, and

39:25.200 --> 39:28.320
I pray that you'd fill me with your Holy Spirit. And as you say, I pray, amen.

39:29.000 --> 39:35.880
Title of my sermon tonight is Uttering That Which Cannot Be Uttered. We're here in 1 Corinthians 14,

39:35.880 --> 39:38.440
and we're going to actually focus in on verse number 12 where the Bible says,

39:38.440 --> 39:42.600
Even so ye, for as much as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the

39:42.600 --> 39:46.040
edifying of the church. Wherefore, let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may

39:46.040 --> 39:51.320
interpret. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth that my understanding is unfruitful.

39:51.320 --> 39:56.520
So this is going to be part two in my verse by verse through chapter number 14.

39:57.000 --> 40:04.200
Last week I spent a lot of time clarifying things outside of chapter number 14 surrounding the subject of tongues that I just thought was necessary to bring up.

40:04.200 --> 40:12.200
Things like in Acts 2. As a matter of fact I just had listed down some of the things that we talked about, the bigger things that were outside of the main text itself.

40:12.200 --> 40:20.600
The first main thing that I brought up in the pre-sermon to the verse by verse of this if you will was the fact that tongues means languages.

40:20.600 --> 40:24.600
In the Bible it's very evident, there's so many chapters to prove that from it's not even funny.

40:25.000 --> 40:29.000
And even nowadays, we still use the word tongue to mean language.

40:29.000 --> 40:32.800
Like if you say, oh, in my mother tongue, even though that's not very common, that's

40:32.800 --> 40:34.640
still, we all understand what that means.

40:34.640 --> 40:36.040
It's like your mother language, right?

40:36.040 --> 40:40.500
The one you were born speaking, the one that you learned first growing up.

40:40.500 --> 40:42.040
So tongues means languages.

40:42.040 --> 40:45.720
The second thing we talked about was the fact that in Acts chapter number two, the miracle

40:45.720 --> 40:49.760
that is the gift of tongues in that chapter is not people babbling.

40:49.760 --> 40:53.000
It is the disciples being filled with the Holy Spirit.

40:53.000 --> 40:56.000
the first interaction of the gift of tongues.

40:56.000 --> 40:58.000
And when they were filled with the Holy Spirit,

40:58.000 --> 41:01.000
he allowed them to speak in different languages

41:01.000 --> 41:04.000
that they had never learned before by his permission,

41:04.000 --> 41:07.000
by his acceptance, by allowing them to utter

41:07.000 --> 41:10.000
these foreign languages to the people that were there

41:10.000 --> 41:13.000
that didn't understand Aramaic at the time,

41:13.000 --> 41:15.000
or Greek at the time, or whatever they were speaking

41:15.000 --> 41:17.000
in that area.

41:17.000 --> 41:19.000
And it's very obvious in Acts that that's the case

41:19.000 --> 41:21.000
because you see them say...

41:21.000 --> 41:23.400
He literally lists off like all these nations.

41:23.400 --> 41:26.140
He's like, you know, the Parthians,

41:26.140 --> 41:28.320
he's like the Arabians, the Cretians,

41:28.320 --> 41:29.720
he's like all these kind of people.

41:29.720 --> 41:32.580
We do hear the disciples speak in our own language,

41:32.580 --> 41:34.000
the wonderful works of God,

41:34.000 --> 41:36.060
and our own tongue, the wonderful works of God.

41:36.060 --> 41:38.180
So very clearly the gift of tongues

41:38.180 --> 41:39.280
has nothing to do with Babel,

41:39.280 --> 41:41.180
it has to do with speaking languages

41:41.180 --> 41:44.800
that the Holy Spirit is allowing you to miraculously speak.

41:44.800 --> 41:45.700
That is the gift of tongues.

41:45.700 --> 41:47.340
And that's chapter number two.

41:47.340 --> 41:49.000
But then number three, we'll talk about the fact of.

41:49.000 --> 41:51.280
why I don't believe these gifts are in effect anymore.

41:51.280 --> 41:53.560
And there's a bunch of different arguments you can go into

41:53.560 --> 41:55.840
of why we don't believe they're in effect anymore.

41:55.840 --> 41:57.540
But what I really submitted to you hard

41:57.540 --> 41:59.980
in my last sermon on Wednesday was the fact that

41:59.980 --> 42:03.240
these are all attached to the preaching of the gospel

42:03.240 --> 42:06.280
and more specifically the spreading of the gospel

42:06.280 --> 42:07.400
into all the world.

42:07.400 --> 42:10.080
Because we saw on Mark chapter number 16, verse number 15,

42:10.080 --> 42:11.600
that is the great commission right there.

42:11.600 --> 42:12.960
And then directly after that,

42:12.960 --> 42:15.480
he begins to explain the different gifts

42:15.480 --> 42:17.000
that the believers will have that believe on.

42:17.000 --> 42:21.520
him and tongues is included in that list. So I think it's very obvious that the

42:21.520 --> 42:24.680
Bible is connecting these two things that he was giving them these gifts like

42:24.680 --> 42:28.880
the gifts of tongues and the casting out of devils and of the taking of serpents

42:28.880 --> 42:32.400
and not being hurt and drinking deadly things and not being hurt by them. He's

42:32.400 --> 42:37.640
giving them that as a gift to help them spread the gospel into all the world. But

42:37.640 --> 42:41.160
now that the gospel is spread into the all the world which the Bible makes very

42:41.160 --> 42:45.000
clear Paul says that he was innocent from the blood of all men on this earth.

42:45.000 --> 42:51.420
Once the gospel did go into all the world though, I believe that the gift of tongues in every spiritual gift truly

42:51.420 --> 42:53.420
was done away at that point.

42:54.960 --> 42:58.220
We're going to get into that a little bit more in this sermon, but

42:59.300 --> 43:06.620
As far as the chapter itself goes, okay, what we talked about in chapter 14, because that was the pre-sermon sermon, okay,

43:06.620 --> 43:12.060
but in chapter 14, these are the three main things you need to learn going into this sermon if you weren't here for the last one.

43:12.060 --> 43:17.140
Number one, the unknown tongue that we see in this chapter does not mean a heavenly prayer language,

43:17.140 --> 43:20.460
it means a language that nobody else in the room understands.

43:20.460 --> 43:25.660
It would be saying a foreign language in our modern vernacular. That's what the unknown tongue is.

43:25.660 --> 43:27.260
So it's not you...

43:27.300 --> 43:32.940
Praying in some mystical language is impossible to learn it is you speaking in a language that nobody else understands

43:32.940 --> 43:38.980
Which leads into the second thing that's very important to understand which is this that the reason why he's saying when you're speaking in an

43:38.980 --> 43:41.980
Unknown tongue that you're speaking to God and not to men is

43:42.220 --> 43:44.220
Because nobody in the room can understand what you're saying

43:44.420 --> 43:50.460
But clearly God knows all languages so he understands what you're saying and we also know the Bible says where there's two or three to

43:50.460 --> 43:55.300
Gather together in my name there am I in the midst of them so very clearly if I'm speaking up here

43:55.300 --> 43:58.740
and like Chinese or something like that, which nobody speaks Chinese in here.

43:58.740 --> 44:02.420
Okay, at least not that I'm aware of. Okay, nobody speaks Chinese in here though.

44:02.420 --> 44:06.660
So if I just started piping off in Mandarin, then guess who I'm speaking to?

44:06.660 --> 44:09.700
Nobody in this room. I'm just speaking to God, right? Because he's the only one who's

44:09.700 --> 44:12.660
gonna understand what I'm saying and to myself if I'm speaking that language.

44:12.660 --> 44:14.820
Because that's what I point out to you. And this is very important to realize.

44:14.820 --> 44:17.540
Look at verse number 28 of this passage real quick. It says,

44:17.540 --> 44:22.660
but if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church and let him speak to himself.

44:23.300 --> 44:24.740
and to God.

44:24.740 --> 44:26.580
So clearly if you're speaking to yourself,

44:26.580 --> 44:28.360
you have to know what you're saying.

44:28.360 --> 44:29.960
You can't just be babbling to yourself.

44:29.960 --> 44:31.160
That doesn't make any sense,

44:31.160 --> 44:33.200
but it does make perfect sense if you're speaking

44:33.200 --> 44:35.600
in an unknown tongue to everybody else

44:35.600 --> 44:37.140
but you in the room.

44:38.240 --> 44:39.580
Thirdly, the last thing that we talked about

44:39.580 --> 44:40.620
before we get into this chapter

44:40.620 --> 44:43.960
was the fact that verse 14 is not saying.

44:44.200 --> 44:48.200
that Paul doesn't understand the language that he's speaking in or that he's praying in.

44:48.200 --> 44:53.200
When Paul's saying that he prays in a foreign language right here, in an unknown tongue, okay,

44:53.200 --> 44:58.200
he is receiving the benefits of this prayer. His spirit prayeth is what the Bible's saying right here.

44:58.200 --> 45:03.200
But what the point he's trying to draw from verse number 14, in my opinion, is that he's saying,

45:03.200 --> 45:08.200
hey, just because I understand what I'm praying, just because my spirit prayeth,

45:08.200 --> 45:12.200
that doesn't mean that anybody else in the room is getting any kind of benefit from that.

45:12.200 --> 45:14.880
my understanding of what I'm saying.

45:14.880 --> 45:16.880
Because that's the only way that this really

45:16.880 --> 45:18.760
can make sense to me, because he's basically just saying,

45:18.760 --> 45:21.800
yeah, if I pray in an unknown tongue, it's not beneficial,

45:21.800 --> 45:24.280
it's not fruitful to anybody else that's in the room.

45:24.280 --> 45:25.840
Just think about this for a second, okay?

45:25.840 --> 45:30.840
Can you really say that we're praying together as a church

45:30.840 --> 45:33.920
if someone's praying in an unknown language?

45:33.920 --> 45:36.360
Like if I called on Brother Daniel right now,

45:36.360 --> 45:37.500
I was like, hey, Brother Daniel.

45:37.700 --> 45:39.120
I'm gonna need you to pray for the service.

45:39.120 --> 45:41.120
And then he starts busting out the Russian, okay?

45:42.600 --> 45:47.860
He's understanding what he's saying right but to everybody else in the room besides his wife right okay?

45:47.860 --> 45:53.600
But the greater part of the room okay doesn't understand what he's saying so therefore nobody in the room could get any benefit

45:53.920 --> 45:58.800
From what he's saying nobody can understand what he's saying is what Paul is pointing out in this

45:58.800 --> 46:05.840
It's not fruitful for anybody else in the room to speak in an unknown tongue to pray in an unknown tongue

46:06.480 --> 46:08.480
And and this is all

46:08.760 --> 46:10.600
Evident in the fact because you can imagine

46:10.600 --> 46:16.000
Imagine I come up here and I'm like, okay guys, let's pray for the service. Okay, everybody. Let's pray real quick. Okay

46:16.640 --> 46:21.360
Thea moose a fire stop our poli y'all all the Osa Connie y'all men a K

46:21.360 --> 46:24.360
Y'all team at the CMO so far as tolla

46:25.240 --> 46:31.440
Meli tigas a mocha process for me tora. No, I'm a with thesis not kind of a colocated man. So

46:31.960 --> 46:33.960
Onomatopoeia soo Christ to

46:34.720 --> 46:36.100
process for me I mean

46:36.700 --> 46:38.040
You guys, are you guys edified now?

46:38.040 --> 46:39.340
You guys understand what I'm saying?

46:39.340 --> 46:40.000
You guys get the prayer?

46:40.000 --> 46:41.340
You can't even say the amen yet.

46:41.340 --> 46:43.260
No, no amen's, right?

46:43.260 --> 46:44.940
You get the amen though, yeah, okay.

46:44.940 --> 46:46.620
That's the one thing you can't say from that.

46:46.620 --> 46:48.860
So why I'm doing that though is to demonstrate

46:48.860 --> 46:50.540
that you guys have no idea what I'm saying right there.

46:50.540 --> 46:52.300
So therefore you cannot get any understanding

46:52.300 --> 46:53.620
from what I just said right there.

46:53.620 --> 46:55.140
What I did say right there though is this,

46:55.140 --> 46:57.300
because here's the reality, when you speak in tongues,

46:57.300 --> 46:58.300
you're supposed to interpret them.

46:58.300 --> 46:59.260
Here's the interpretation for this.

46:59.260 --> 47:01.420
I said, you know, God, thank you for this day,

47:01.420 --> 47:02.260
thank you for this church,

47:02.260 --> 47:03.860
thank you for the members of my church,

47:03.860 --> 47:04.700
please help me to preach.

47:04.700 --> 47:08.600
a good sermon amen that's what I said now you can get edification from that

47:08.600 --> 47:12.220
right because now you understand what I'm saying this is precisely what Paul

47:12.220 --> 47:16.180
is saying right here that if only I'm praying a language I understand I'm the

47:16.180 --> 47:17.800
only one that gets benefit from it

47:18.200 --> 47:22.680
Um, where you guys at though? You're in verse number 14. This bleeds really well into verse number 15 though

47:22.680 --> 47:28.600
Because that's kind of the recap but it bleeds also into verse number 15 as well, which it says this it says

47:28.760 --> 47:36.680
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the understanding also notice here though that paul doesn't say

47:37.160 --> 47:43.240
My understanding right here. He says the understanding later on he does bring up my understanding and i'll explain what I think that he's saying right there

47:43.560 --> 47:46.040
But right here he says what is it then i'll pray with the

47:46.200 --> 47:52.900
Spirit and I'll pray with the understanding what understanding the understanding of the whole room clearly right so with everybody else understanding

47:52.900 --> 47:55.760
Because he very easily right here could have said with my understanding

47:55.760 --> 48:01.660
But he doesn't he says with the understanding and then he says I will sing with the spirit and he doubles down this and I

48:01.660 --> 48:03.480
will sing with the

48:03.480 --> 48:08.200
understanding also the understanding of who the understanding of everybody else in this room so that

48:08.640 --> 48:13.760
They can be edified by what he's singing or by what he is prank and you have to think about this as well

48:14.200 --> 48:17.440
Would Paul be saying that he's gonna go and sing in an unknown tongue?

48:17.440 --> 48:19.440
Like, this doesn't make sense either.

48:19.440 --> 48:20.960
Like, um...

48:21.200 --> 48:26.740
Which brought me to a whole rabbit hole when I was studying the sermon out because I was like do Pentecostals also sing in tongues as well?

48:26.740 --> 48:32.160
Which they do you can just go look it up on YouTube and there's these people that they bust out like some random beats

48:32.160 --> 48:35.400
And then they're also doing that but I don't know but like to kind of a beat or whatever

48:35.640 --> 48:37.840
So I guess there are people that that pray in tongues

48:37.840 --> 48:41.160
I don't think that's the standard Pentecostal though because I've never heard of that before but

48:41.920 --> 48:45.080
Nevertheless people this is the reality you can take any clear passage

48:45.480 --> 48:49.160
Unclear passage of scripture and make a doctrine for it. We see it all the time people do

48:49.200 --> 48:51.160
with the baptizing for the dead, that's what the Mormons do.

48:51.160 --> 48:54.640
They take one unclear scripture in 1 Corinthians 15,

48:54.640 --> 48:56.840
and they're like, well, I guess we better be baptizing

48:56.840 --> 48:57.660
for the dead.

48:57.660 --> 48:58.680
It's like, dude, that's not what he's saying

48:58.680 --> 48:59.520
right there, though.

48:59.520 --> 49:00.340
It's the same thing right here.

49:00.340 --> 49:01.180
They look at these verses and they're like,

49:01.180 --> 49:03.480
wait a minute, in unknown tongue,

49:03.480 --> 49:05.800
we need to just start babbling in our church service.

49:05.800 --> 49:07.480
Contrary to what Paul says in this chapter,

49:07.480 --> 49:09.400
it is very insane to me, okay?

49:09.400 --> 49:11.040
Look how we know this, though,

49:11.040 --> 49:12.560
that this is what he's saying, okay?

49:12.560 --> 49:13.640
Verse number 16, it says,

49:13.640 --> 49:15.860
else when thou shalt bless with the Spirit,

49:15.860 --> 49:17.200
how shall he that occupy through the un-

49:17.200 --> 49:19.080
learned say amen at that giving of thanks,

49:19.080 --> 49:22.280
seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest.

49:22.280 --> 49:23.720
Then look at verse number 17

49:23.720 --> 49:25.080
and compare it with verse number 14

49:25.080 --> 49:26.400
and see how they line up perfectly.

49:26.400 --> 49:29.360
It says, for thou verily give us thanks well,

49:29.360 --> 49:32.920
but the other is not edified.

49:32.920 --> 49:34.280
Doesn't that line up perfectly?

49:34.280 --> 49:37.800
Like my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is not fruitful.

49:37.800 --> 49:40.200
Like I'm praying, but my understanding of what I'm saying

49:40.200 --> 49:41.840
is not fruitful anybody else in the room.

49:41.840 --> 49:42.920
And then here he says,

49:42.920 --> 49:45.120
for thou verily give us thanks well.

49:45.200 --> 49:49.280
But the others not edified, the others not gaining anything from that is what I

49:49.280 --> 49:50.080
believe he's saying right here.

49:50.080 --> 49:52.640
I think that makes the most sense with this passage of scripture.

49:53.320 --> 49:54.520
Verse number 16 as well.

49:54.520 --> 49:54.680
Okay.

49:54.680 --> 49:57.360
I want to point out a couple of things before we move forward is that it says

49:57.360 --> 49:59.360
the unlearned verse number 16.

49:59.360 --> 50:00.000
We can read it one more time.

50:00.000 --> 50:03.000
It says else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that

50:03.000 --> 50:05.240
occupied the room of the unlearned say amen.

50:05.240 --> 50:07.600
If I give you a thanks, seeing he understands not what thou sayest.

50:08.100 --> 50:14.900
This only makes sense to say the unlearned if they could actually learn what they're talking about so that they're not unlearned anymore.

50:14.900 --> 50:16.100
You guys follow what I'm saying?

50:16.100 --> 50:23.600
Like, you can't call them unlearned if the language that he's trying to speak would be like unlearnable, that they can't understand.

50:23.600 --> 50:28.100
Very clearly this is showing that this doesn't make sense for a heavenly prayer language,

50:28.100 --> 50:31.600
but it does make sense for a foreign language that someone could be speaking.

50:31.600 --> 50:35.100
Someone could come up and speak and then I just did the little prayer in Greek.

50:35.100 --> 50:36.100
You could learn that same thing.

50:36.100 --> 50:38.260
But right now, you're unlearned.

50:38.260 --> 50:41.180
But then I'm also unlearned in Russian or in Spanish or whatever.

50:41.180 --> 50:46.180
So this is just how, this is what he's saying here in my opinion, okay?

50:46.800 --> 50:51.520
What else we got here, okay? You guys are in verse number 16 right now. Oh, this is what I want to say.

50:51.520 --> 50:55.520
I pointed this out last time, but I'll point out again because it really drives the point

50:55.520 --> 50:59.920
that if someone else cannot say amen to what you're saying when you pray

50:59.920 --> 51:03.920
because they don't understand it, then how could you say amen at the end of your prayer,

51:04.880 --> 51:08.800
to end your prayer? It doesn't make any sense. If they don't understand what you're saying so they

51:08.800 --> 51:14.720
can't say amen, then you cannot say amen to your own prayer because you don't understand what you're saying.

51:14.800 --> 51:17.040
But then also I want to point out this, okay,

51:17.040 --> 51:19.800
that before moving to verse 18 is that.

51:20.100 --> 51:26.100
How is it possible for you to be edified by a prayer that you're praying that you don't understand?

51:26.100 --> 51:29.300
That flies in the face of everything that Paul is saying in this chapter so far.

51:29.300 --> 51:33.200
And we know that you are edified by the prayer because look at verse number four one more time.

51:33.200 --> 51:40.600
It says, He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifyeth himself, but he that prophesied edifyeth the church.

51:40.600 --> 51:48.100
So if this guy is edifying himself by praying in an unknown tongue, but Paul's theme, his reoccurring...

51:48.100 --> 51:51.820
theme throughout all these verses has been if you don't have understanding

51:51.820 --> 51:55.900
then you don't have edification that can only lead you to the conclusion that the

51:55.900 --> 51:59.740
man who's praying here understands what he's saying that's the only way he could

51:59.740 --> 52:01.000
be edifying himself

52:01.000 --> 52:05.000
Or how does it even make sense then that he could be edifying himself while not understanding it

52:05.000 --> 52:08.200
while the other people in the room are not being edified because they don't understand it?

52:08.200 --> 52:12.280
It just doesn't make sense when you break these things down. This is just again a case of

52:12.280 --> 52:15.880
a couple unclear scriptures that they're just running with instead of just kind of

52:15.880 --> 52:18.200
taking a step back and thinking about these things properly.

52:22.040 --> 52:24.040
We'll look into verse number 18 though now.

52:25.000 --> 52:30.860
But we'll get the context for 17th for verily for thou barely gives things well, but the other is not edified

52:31.500 --> 52:35.540
I think my God I speak with tongues more than ye all.

52:35.540 --> 52:40.780
So whether Paul means right here that he speaks more languages than them all because he's

52:40.780 --> 52:45.180
just an educated man or whether he means it's by the power of the Holy Ghost, the gift of

52:45.180 --> 52:47.660
tongues, I'm not 100% sure.

52:47.660 --> 52:50.380
But it did make me think when I was typing this sermon out, I was really thinking about

52:50.380 --> 52:51.380
it.

52:51.380 --> 52:54.940
I'm like, and I talked to you guys a little bit about this last Wednesday, if the gift

52:54.940 --> 52:57.700
of tongues when they actually could speak in that language, if it was something that

52:57.700 --> 52:59.020
they permanently learned.

52:59.020 --> 52:59.500
very much.

52:59.500 --> 53:02.060
when the disciples spoke all those languages in Acts 2,

53:02.060 --> 53:03.700
if they permanently learned those languages,

53:03.700 --> 53:05.600
or if it was just for a temporary time.

53:05.800 --> 53:09.240
I'm bringing that up on purpose because it's going to lay the foundation for something

53:09.240 --> 53:12.520
I'm going to bring up potentially later and I don't just want it to catch you guys off guard.

53:12.520 --> 53:16.680
But I did wonder that when I was writing this, but we'll come back to that in a second.

53:16.680 --> 53:21.080
For now, I'm just going to say this, okay? Paul was an educated man, so it's likely that he knew

53:21.720 --> 53:25.640
multiple languages just by his education alone. Because at that time,

53:25.640 --> 53:29.240
he's a tent maker and the language of commerce is going to be Greek.

53:30.000 --> 53:33.840
So he obviously knows Greek, I mean he's writing in Greek so clearly he knows Greek.

53:33.840 --> 53:39.440
And also the native tongue of the Jews at this time was Aramaic, so he probably most certainly knew

53:40.240 --> 53:45.680
Aramaic. And then he's a Pharisee of the Pharisees, so he probably also knew Hebrew

53:45.680 --> 53:50.800
so that he could read the Old Testament in the original language if you will. So I think at the

53:50.800 --> 53:55.600
very least Paul knows three languages before there's any gift of tongues involved in this at all.

53:55.600 --> 53:58.000
but you know I

53:58.000 --> 54:01.160
And you can attribute that to his education, obviously, right there, because he was raised

54:01.160 --> 54:02.160
at the feet of Gamaliel.

54:02.160 --> 54:03.160
Paul was no idiot.

54:03.160 --> 54:04.880
I mean, you can tell by how he's writing.

54:04.880 --> 54:06.400
He's a very educated, very smart man.

54:07.300 --> 54:13.540
But also you could also apply this to the get the tongues because Paul also went into all the world and preaches the gospel

54:13.780 --> 54:16.660
So it's also very likely that the holy ghost just used into the use

54:16.980 --> 54:23.060
To have to get the tongues more often than anybody else because he's encountering more, you know foreign people than anybody else

54:23.460 --> 54:25.860
So these things are also very possible as well

54:26.500 --> 54:30.100
Uh, but for now we'll just kind of we'll leave that at there. Let's go to verse number 18

54:30.740 --> 54:35.140
I guess we're still just for context. He says I think my god I speak with tongues more than you all yet

54:35.300 --> 54:38.820
In the church I'd rather speak five words of my understanding, that by my voice I might

54:38.820 --> 54:43.300
teach others also than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue."

54:43.300 --> 54:47.100
So here Paul is kind of clarifying right here, he's like, hey, speaking in tongues is not

54:47.100 --> 54:48.100
bad though.

54:48.100 --> 54:51.860
It can't be bad if you're speaking in tongues by the gift of the Holy Ghost because it is

54:51.860 --> 54:53.620
a gift of the Holy Ghost.

54:53.620 --> 54:57.700
So Paul is not saying that it's bad to speak in a foreign language, he's trying to balance

54:57.700 --> 54:59.180
what he's saying right here.

54:59.180 --> 55:03.300
Because he's really hammering how much better prophecy is than the gift of tongues.

55:03.300 --> 55:07.600
But then he kind of draws it back and he's like hey, but I just want to make it clear to you guys like you know

55:07.680 --> 55:13.000
Tongues is not a bad thing. It's just as a time and a place for these things

55:13.000 --> 55:18.240
Okay, and he kind of more so balances this out at the end of the chapter. He says in verse 39

55:18.240 --> 55:23.480
He says wherefore brethren covet to prophesy and forbid not to speak with tongue

55:23.480 --> 55:27.480
So he says don't forbid the speaking of tongues. There is nothing wrong with speaking in tongues

55:27.480 --> 55:31.040
What Paul is making very clear here? He's trying to balance this because people always go overboard

55:31.300 --> 55:36.260
that I've learned, you know, just in my time of like watching people listen to my dad's sermons,

55:36.260 --> 55:40.180
you know, or just, you know, throughout, you know, looking at other pastors that I've looked up to

55:40.180 --> 55:45.060
with their sermons, they'll say something that's very logical and then very reasonable. And then

55:45.060 --> 55:49.940
sometimes people will grab onto it and they'll just send it to the extreme. And you're like, dude,

55:49.940 --> 55:55.220
that's not even what he said in the sermon itself. Why are you acting like this? It's bizarre. So

55:55.220 --> 55:58.740
Paul understands this. So he tells them to balance it out. He's like, Hey, I'm not forbidding the

55:58.740 --> 55:59.240
Speaking of time.

55:59.300 --> 56:02.460
And he's like, but the point that he's drawing from this is just this is that

56:03.300 --> 56:10.020
At church, that's not the time for you to be speaking in foreign languages before the whole congregation of people,

56:10.020 --> 56:13.860
because church is for the edification of the body of Christ.

56:13.860 --> 56:18.980
So there's a time and a place for everything, and at church, when you're amongst other people

56:18.980 --> 56:23.620
that are all trying to be edified, that's not the place to be speaking in tongues,

56:23.620 --> 56:30.100
is what he's saying. Not before the whole church. You can beat yourself, he says, but not before the whole church.

56:30.100 --> 56:31.300
And then...

56:31.300 --> 56:34.160
Also in this, Paul is making the point right here

56:34.160 --> 56:35.860
like with the five words.

56:35.860 --> 56:38.700
He says, I'd rather speak five words in a language

56:38.700 --> 56:41.180
that you and I both understand, okay,

56:41.180 --> 56:44.380
than to speak 10,000 words in an unknown tongue

56:44.380 --> 56:46.980
because if I speak in an unknown tongue,

56:46.980 --> 56:48.740
none of you guys are gonna get what I'm saying.

56:48.740 --> 56:51.100
It's impossible for them to learn

56:51.100 --> 56:53.060
or to apply anything to their life

56:53.060 --> 56:55.220
if he's speaking in an unknown tongue,

56:55.220 --> 56:57.780
in a language that they don't understand.

56:57.780 --> 56:59.300
Verse number 20, he says this.

56:59.500 --> 57:05.740
Brethren be not children understanding how be it malice be children button understanding be men

57:05.740 --> 57:07.740
I thought this was really interesting

57:07.940 --> 57:09.940
in terms of obviously

57:10.060 --> 57:11.800
This analogy right here

57:12.000 --> 57:16.080
Children have a lack of understanding just because they're not you know, their brains don't develop

57:16.080 --> 57:18.320
They don't have all the life experience that we have as adults

57:18.320 --> 57:22.980
So obviously they're gonna have a natural lack of understanding but then also when you apply this to languages

57:22.980 --> 57:24.840
I think it's very interesting as well

57:24.840 --> 57:30.800
Because kids as much as they have a general lack of understanding they also depending on how young they are just have a lack of

57:30.880 --> 57:33.700
Understanding of their own native language as well, right?

57:33.800 --> 57:39.280
That like if I'm speaking to the Korean or Tidus I have to kind of you know lower down what I'm gonna say

57:39.280 --> 57:40.000
I couldn't just

57:40.000 --> 57:44.460
speak to them super eloquently or they wouldn't understand.

57:44.460 --> 57:46.680
They'd be children concerning understanding.

57:46.680 --> 57:48.260
And I think a parallel you could draw from this

57:48.260 --> 57:50.100
is that he's kind of like saying like this,

57:50.100 --> 57:52.640
just how if you're speaking to a kid

57:52.640 --> 57:56.120
and you're using words that would be hard to be understood,

57:56.120 --> 57:57.360
the same would be true at church.

57:57.360 --> 57:59.160
And if you're speaking in a foreign language,

57:59.160 --> 58:02.840
a language that people could kind of grab bits and pieces of

58:02.840 --> 58:05.360
from the words that sound similar, like amen.

58:05.360 --> 58:07.240
Like Brother Paul caught that, OK.

58:07.240 --> 58:08.000
you cut the

58:08.000 --> 58:10.900
Because that sounds exactly the same, amen, right?

58:10.900 --> 58:13.960
Or the body language, you can kind of get what someone's saying, but it's going to

58:13.960 --> 58:15.400
be like the understanding of a child.

58:15.400 --> 58:16.400
You know what I mean?

58:16.400 --> 58:21.280
Because I'm sure children listen to the sermon sometimes and they're like, what in the world

58:21.280 --> 58:22.280
is he talking about?

58:22.280 --> 58:23.280
You know what I mean?

58:23.280 --> 58:28.020
Some of the words in the Bible are pretty difficult for the children to understand.

58:28.020 --> 58:32.000
We were reading through Genesis with Titus and Corrina, and some of the things they were

58:32.000 --> 58:35.920
saying I was like, man, I don't know if they're going to pick that up right at this moment.

58:36.000 --> 58:40.960
This is like, you know, he bear him and you know making the Ark and the gopher wood

58:40.960 --> 58:43.920
They're probably like what is a gopher in a wood like what is going on here?

58:44.400 --> 58:46.400
But anyways, I'm kind of going off around each other

58:46.400 --> 58:52.240
But what I'm saying about this I think the parallels interesting that Paul says don't be children concerning understanding

58:52.320 --> 58:56.700
Be men when it comes to understanding but when it comes to malice the things that are bad

58:56.700 --> 59:00.120
Then you should have a childlike knowledge of these things. I think it's interesting

59:00.840 --> 59:02.840
verse number 21 of this passage

59:03.400 --> 59:06.840
Here Paul begins to kind of explain the purpose of tongues, the gift of tongues.

59:06.840 --> 59:11.160
It says, in the law it is written with men of other tongues and other lips,

59:11.160 --> 59:18.040
will I speak unto this people? And yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

59:18.040 --> 59:21.160
I'm going to write a trail map later on in a different sermon, okay, but I'll come back

59:21.160 --> 59:25.320
to that. I'm just going to try to keep on the main focus right now. Verse 22 it says,

59:25.320 --> 59:29.560
wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not,

59:29.560 --> 59:31.400
but prophesying serveeth not for them that

59:31.400 --> 59:34.400
not, but for them which believe."

59:34.400 --> 59:36.400
So the purpose of tongues...

59:37.000 --> 59:40.840
is not to check someone's salvation like so many Pentecostals assert.

59:40.840 --> 59:44.600
They do that all the time. Who's had that happen to you before? Has anybody had a Pentecostal that would be like,

59:44.600 --> 59:48.440
well show me that you believe in Jesus Christ because I can show you that I speak in tongues.

59:48.440 --> 59:53.240
That's why I think a lot of people at these churches will go along with the tongues thing because

59:53.240 --> 59:58.200
it kind of puts their spirituality and their salvation and jeopardy in the eyes of other people.

59:58.200 --> 01:00:01.400
They're like, oh if I'm not speaking in tongues like everybody else is,

01:00:01.400 --> 01:00:04.840
there must be something wrong with me. So I think that's how they convinced these people.

01:00:05.000 --> 01:00:08.480
to go along with these things.

01:00:08.480 --> 01:00:09.560
But right here Paul's saying,

01:00:09.560 --> 01:00:12.560
hey tongues is not for a salvation check,

01:00:12.560 --> 01:00:15.520
it's supposed to be a sign to unbelievers.

01:00:15.520 --> 01:00:16.960
And I just think that this is so ironic,

01:00:16.960 --> 01:00:18.160
I read this last week as well,

01:00:18.160 --> 01:00:22.180
but it's like if tongues is a sign to unbelievers,

01:00:22.180 --> 01:00:23.960
then why is it that the Pentecostals

01:00:23.960 --> 01:00:25.640
predominantly speak in tongues?

01:00:25.800 --> 01:00:29.000
at church with other believers and then by themselves at home.

01:00:29.000 --> 01:00:31.160
Why aren't they going out in public and speaking in tongues?

01:00:31.160 --> 01:00:34.760
That would make the most sense. It's a sign for unbelievers is what he says.

01:00:35.400 --> 01:00:38.920
But yet they do it when they're in private. Yet they do it at their church where they're amongst

01:00:38.920 --> 01:00:42.120
other believers that wouldn't think that it was weird or think that it was odd.

01:00:42.760 --> 01:00:47.720
So I just it's very odd to me. Okay. Here's why they do this though.

01:00:47.720 --> 01:00:50.280
Okay. Go to Romans 8.26 Romans 8 verse number 26.

01:00:52.600 --> 01:00:55.000
Because we would say like, why would you pray in tongues?

01:00:58.600 --> 01:00:59.400
Thank you.

01:00:59.600 --> 01:01:04.640
We'd say like why would you pray in tongues if it's a sign for unbelievers? What's the point of that?

01:01:04.640 --> 01:01:07.840
This is the verse that they always go to and I've turned this verse before but I want you to turn

01:01:07.840 --> 01:01:12.160
here because this is the verse that Pentecostals will bring up outside of 1st Corinthians 14 to

01:01:12.160 --> 01:01:17.440
show you that speaking in tongues and the way that they do it the battle is legit. They'll be

01:01:17.440 --> 01:01:23.120
they'll say this is why we're praying by ourselves. It says likewise the Spirit also helpeth our

01:01:23.120 --> 01:01:27.440
infirmities for we know not what we should pray for as we ought but the Spirit...

01:01:27.600 --> 01:01:33.520
itself make an intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. So right there they'll

01:01:33.520 --> 01:01:38.160
be like, oh yeah, see, this is the speaking in tongues that the first Corinthians is talking

01:01:38.160 --> 01:01:43.280
about because it's the Holy Spirit praying on our behalf. This is the verse that they

01:01:43.280 --> 01:01:47.120
will bring you to if they don't take you to first Corinthians 14. Okay, this is a very

01:01:47.120 --> 01:01:50.760
big verse. I've had multiple Pentecostals bring this verse up to me. Okay.

01:01:51.400 --> 01:01:56.280
But here's the problem with their interpretation, okay, is that they're saying the exact opposite of what this verse says.

01:01:56.280 --> 01:01:59.000
Because look what it says actually, at the very end there it says,

01:01:59.000 --> 01:02:05.000
but the Spirit itself maketh intercessions for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

01:02:05.000 --> 01:02:08.600
And then they say that their utterings are that of the Holy Ghost.

01:02:08.600 --> 01:02:11.160
That's the opposite of what this is teaching right here, okay?

01:02:11.160 --> 01:02:15.720
It also flies in the face of what the Book of Acts is teaching in Acts 2-4 it says,

01:02:15.720 --> 01:02:19.240
and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues.

01:02:19.400 --> 01:02:21.400
as the spirit gave them.

01:02:21.700 --> 01:02:26.020
utterance. Oh, so that this is not talking about tongues here, is it? In

01:02:26.020 --> 01:02:30.940
Romans 8 26, what it's talking about is that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us

01:02:30.940 --> 01:02:34.100
because we're carnal people and we don't always know what we should pray for. So

01:02:34.100 --> 01:02:39.420
how does he intercede for us? Not out loud, not in babble, but he intercedes in

01:02:39.420 --> 01:02:42.420
our heart spiritually is what he's talking about. Just how Christ is a

01:02:42.420 --> 01:02:46.660
mediator between us and God and we don't audibly see that or we don't visually

01:02:46.660 --> 01:02:49.700
see that, but you know it's still happening. The same

01:02:49.700 --> 01:02:55.380
is true with the Holy Spirit that these are groanings though which cannot be uttered.

01:02:55.380 --> 01:02:58.300
So you cannot use this as a proof verse for tongues. That is the opposite of what the

01:02:58.300 --> 01:03:02.760
verse is saying. It's actually really mind blowing. Okay. It's very crazy. Okay. But

01:03:02.760 --> 01:03:06.760
also okay, look at verse number 27 because this proves that this is the Holy Spirit.

01:03:07.300 --> 01:03:10.280
Some people have questions about this verse itself, but looking for verse 27, it makes

01:03:10.280 --> 01:03:11.280
it clear what he's saying.

01:03:11.280 --> 01:03:14.300
He says, and he that searcheth the hearts, who is that?

01:03:14.300 --> 01:03:15.300
It's God, right?

01:03:15.300 --> 01:03:17.500
Knoweth what is the mind of the spirit.

01:03:17.500 --> 01:03:19.540
That's obviously the Holy Spirit, right?

01:03:19.540 --> 01:03:24.260
Because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

01:03:24.260 --> 01:03:27.940
So it's very clearly, it's the Holy Spirit making intercession for us.

01:03:27.940 --> 01:03:31.220
That we ask for things that we ought not sometimes.

01:03:31.220 --> 01:03:34.960
And you know, the Holy Spirit is guiding our prayers and thank God for it because we don't

01:03:34.960 --> 01:03:35.300
NOPE

01:03:35.300 --> 01:03:36.920
what we should ask for sometimes.

01:03:36.920 --> 01:03:38.000
That's really what's hard.

01:03:38.000 --> 01:03:41.160
Sometimes we'll be so confident in what we're asking for

01:03:41.160 --> 01:03:42.000
and praying and just be like,

01:03:42.000 --> 01:03:45.600
God, why wouldn't you just give me this nice mansion

01:03:45.600 --> 01:03:47.000
on the South Hill?

01:03:47.000 --> 01:03:49.040
This, it would be so great.

01:03:49.040 --> 01:03:50.640
We could have fellowship there.

01:03:50.640 --> 01:03:53.560
We could have all these church barbecues there.

01:03:53.560 --> 01:03:55.520
It would be so great, wouldn't it, God?

01:03:55.520 --> 01:03:57.000
Why won't you give this to me?

01:03:57.200 --> 01:03:59.600
But we don't know what the will of God is, truly.

01:03:59.600 --> 01:04:01.520
Not like we know in some aspects,

01:04:01.520 --> 01:04:04.480
but we would be silly to think that we understand

01:04:04.480 --> 01:04:05.800
the mind of God fully.

01:04:05.800 --> 01:04:09.200
That we understand why God does what

01:04:09.200 --> 01:04:10.800
he does in every instance in our life

01:04:10.800 --> 01:04:13.000
and why he withholds from us what he withholds from us

01:04:13.000 --> 01:04:14.760
in every instance from our life.

01:04:14.760 --> 01:04:17.680
An example I used before at Shirt Foundation in Vancouver

01:04:17.680 --> 01:04:19.920
that I thought was a really good example of this,

01:04:19.920 --> 01:04:23.920
like I said, if everybody in the church got a million dollars,

01:04:23.920 --> 01:04:24.100
you

01:04:24.400 --> 01:04:30.800
this weekend, I was like, what do you think the odds are that every single person that received that money would stay faithful to church?

01:04:30.800 --> 01:04:41.680
What do you think the odds would be? Probably not that high, right? Because people, they mean well, and when they're in a temptation that they can handle, if you will, they do well,

01:04:41.680 --> 01:04:49.040
but then when you get put something like a carrot that's too big for you as humans, we'll fall and we'll take the bait on that.

01:04:49.040 --> 01:04:52.320
That's why God specifically says he won't tempt us with anything that we can't handle.

01:04:52.400 --> 01:04:58.500
But that's above our own you know will or strength because I guarantee you if you gave every single member of sure

01:04:58.500 --> 01:05:00.500
Foundation of all the plants a million dollars

01:05:00.580 --> 01:05:05.460
Not every single person would stay faithful church because they would just find something to do at their time now that they have a bunch

01:05:05.460 --> 01:05:07.460
Of money to spend you understand what I'm saying

01:05:07.500 --> 01:05:10.720
Then it's like how can I go to church when I need a jet ski on Sunday? Hello?

01:05:10.720 --> 01:05:13.580
I'm gonna cut this million dollars a blessing I gotta make the most of it

01:05:13.580 --> 01:05:17.740
You know what I mean? That's what people are so all that's a rabbit trail to come back to say this that

01:05:17.840 --> 01:05:20.360
When it comes to the will of God you should be very glad

01:05:20.400 --> 01:05:23.880
that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us because we don't always understand the

01:05:23.880 --> 01:05:27.480
mind of God. In fact we know very little about the mind of God when you think

01:05:27.480 --> 01:05:31.760
about it in the grand scheme of things. Obviously we have the Bible but we don't

01:05:31.760 --> 01:05:35.880
know every moving of God. If we could comprehend everything that God does then

01:05:35.880 --> 01:05:39.560
he wouldn't be an amazing God in the first place. If we could just you know

01:05:39.560 --> 01:05:43.560
completely put God in a box it wouldn't be a God worth serving. Our God is

01:05:43.560 --> 01:05:47.000
greater. His ways are higher than ours is what the Bible says and you should just

01:05:47.000 --> 01:05:48.400
realize as a Christian and

01:05:48.400 --> 01:05:53.400
and not assume things too quickly.

01:05:54.500 --> 01:05:59.540
I guess that is still just more of a rabbit trail, but just like there's lots of situations in life

01:05:59.540 --> 01:06:04.020
where I've gone to God in prayer and been like, God, why aren't you doing this for me? I don't

01:06:04.020 --> 01:06:08.660
understand. The Bible says if I pray for this, you know, and if there's two people asking your

01:06:08.660 --> 01:06:12.500
will, you're going to give it, you're going to answer our requests. Like, why aren't you

01:06:12.500 --> 01:06:17.140
getting my vengeance? Why aren't you giving me this thing that I'm asking for? Why aren't you doing

01:06:17.140 --> 01:06:17.940
etc.

01:06:18.600 --> 01:06:23.000
But we just as Christians, we have to put our faith in God and trust that he knows what's best for us.

01:06:23.000 --> 01:06:30.000
Just as a child has to trust their parents that they know what's best for them when they don't give them the sugar before bedtime.

01:06:30.000 --> 01:06:32.300
You're like, but mom and dad, it would be awesome.

01:06:32.300 --> 01:06:34.400
It's like it would be awesome maybe for you for a moment.

01:06:34.400 --> 01:06:36.400
And then it's terror for everybody else, right?

01:06:36.400 --> 01:06:37.600
You guys understand what I'm saying?

01:06:37.600 --> 01:06:41.800
Verse 23, go back to 1 Corinthians 14, verse number 23.

01:06:43.100 --> 01:06:48.100
Now that we've established that that's not a proof verse for the Pentecostals, verse number 23,

01:06:48.100 --> 01:06:53.100
this is like the only passage of this scripture that the Pentecostals take to heart, unfortunately,

01:06:53.100 --> 01:06:56.100
and it's not in the good way, okay? It says this, it says,

01:06:56.100 --> 01:07:00.100
if therefore the whole church be come together into one place and all speak with tongues,

01:07:00.100 --> 01:07:05.100
and there come in one, come in those that are unlearned or unbelievers, will they not say, you're mad?

01:07:05.100 --> 01:07:10.100
And this is the reality of the Pentecostal church to everybody that's in the world nowadays.

01:07:10.100 --> 01:07:11.100
like

01:07:11.100 --> 01:07:19.600
Obviously, I think there's a lot of good Pentecostals out there that are just being misled, they're being deceived, and they're not trying necessarily to...

01:07:20.600 --> 01:07:23.640
to blaspheme the name of God by what they're doing, okay?

01:07:23.640 --> 01:07:25.960
But the reality is still true that that is what they're doing

01:07:25.960 --> 01:07:28.920
when they're doing this madness that they call tongues in the church.

01:07:28.920 --> 01:07:30.360
They're blaspheming the name of God.

01:07:30.360 --> 01:07:32.520
They're making like an open mockery of God

01:07:32.520 --> 01:07:35.000
because so many people in this world will look at them

01:07:35.000 --> 01:07:37.720
and be like they are insane and they'll point to that and be like,

01:07:37.720 --> 01:07:39.320
Christianity is insane.

01:07:39.320 --> 01:07:42.360
Here's the example, Pentecostals rolling on the floor,

01:07:42.360 --> 01:07:45.000
speaking in tongues, people barking like dogs,

01:07:45.000 --> 01:07:47.880
people laughing hysterically, people running around the church,

01:07:47.880 --> 01:07:48.440
and they'll be like...

01:07:48.600 --> 01:07:50.600
these Christians are crazy

01:07:50.900 --> 01:07:55.160
That's what you're doing when you're going against the words of God in this passage

01:07:55.180 --> 01:08:00.020
It's unfortunate that that's what they're doing because I think a lot of them sincerely try to do well

01:08:00.260 --> 01:08:06.160
But this is the problem when you evil, you know, it says evil communications corrupt good manners and that's talking about doctrines

01:08:06.160 --> 01:08:09.700
Okay, when you have bad doctrine, it leads to bad behaviors

01:08:09.700 --> 01:08:12.460
It leads to things that are against the word of God unfortunately

01:08:12.680 --> 01:08:18.620
So that's why I break this chapter down the way that I do because it's unfortunate that so many people fall victim to this

01:08:18.900 --> 01:08:21.380
And like I said, I think a lot of it is peer pressure.

01:08:21.380 --> 01:08:24.860
I think a lot of it is truly that if I don't speak in tongues

01:08:24.860 --> 01:08:27.300
like everybody else does at my Pentecostal church,

01:08:27.300 --> 01:08:28.340
then I'm not holy.

01:08:28.340 --> 01:08:30.140
Or there's something wrong with me, or I'm not saved.

01:08:30.140 --> 01:08:31.580
I don't have the Holy Spirit.

01:08:31.580 --> 01:08:33.580
That's what they're putting into these people's minds.

01:08:33.580 --> 01:08:36.700
So they have a ton of motivation to want

01:08:36.700 --> 01:08:38.700
to go along with the crowd.

01:08:39.300 --> 01:08:46.440
So it's unfortunate, but it has to be preached against because it is wicked that it's bringing a blot to the name of Jesus Christ.

01:08:46.440 --> 01:08:47.400
It truly is.

01:08:47.400 --> 01:08:53.000
That when people bring up, like when I say that I'm a Baptist, they'll be like, oh, are you one of those like Southern Baptists,

01:08:53.000 --> 01:08:56.760
like those holy roller kind of people that are just, you know, taking up the stakes?

01:08:56.760 --> 01:08:58.500
I'm like, no, no, no, that's some crazy people in the South.

01:08:58.500 --> 01:08:59.340
Like we don't do none of that.

01:08:59.340 --> 01:09:00.840
Okay.

01:09:00.840 --> 01:09:03.100
But that's what they're doing.

01:09:03.100 --> 01:09:06.040
They're blaspheming in the name of God, whether doing it on purpose or not.

01:09:06.600 --> 01:09:11.000
That's what's happening because they're going against what this passage of scripture is saying.

01:09:11.000 --> 01:09:15.240
Because what does Paul said in this chapter? He's like, hey, when you go to speak, speak one by one.

01:09:15.240 --> 01:09:19.720
Don't speak all at once. And he says, and when you speak, speak in a language that everybody understands

01:09:19.720 --> 01:09:22.440
or have an interpreter interpret what they're saying.

01:09:22.440 --> 01:09:26.040
And the Pentecostals, what do they do instead? They speak all at once.

01:09:26.040 --> 01:09:30.760
They burst out in the tongue simultaneously and they don't interpret what they're saying.

01:09:30.760 --> 01:09:34.600
That's why people are calling them mad because they're not following the words of God.

01:09:34.600 --> 01:09:39.560
right here. That's the reality because the sign of tongues is not babble and

01:09:39.560 --> 01:09:44.400
it's not you just bursting out all at once. The signs of tongues is done away

01:09:44.400 --> 01:09:47.960
with but it is speaking in foreign languages. We've demonstrated this very

01:09:47.960 --> 01:09:53.280
clearly from this passage. First Corinthians 14 verse 23. I kind of lost my

01:09:53.280 --> 01:09:56.580
place right now. I'm mad. Okay this is what I was going to say about this okay.

01:09:56.580 --> 01:10:00.080
That when it comes to

01:10:00.400 --> 01:10:05.220
Pentecostal I'm sure that they would take this where it says, you know, oh, but you know, it's a sign from believers

01:10:05.220 --> 01:10:10.100
That must be a heavenly prayer language, but it doesn't need to be that doesn't mean that this is babble nor does it have to be

01:10:10.400 --> 01:10:15.440
Because the people in the Acts chapter number two understood perfectly

01:10:15.920 --> 01:10:21.180
That what the disciples were doing when they were speaking all their different foreign languages was a miracle of God

01:10:21.180 --> 01:10:24.700
They understand that they understood this there and that was not babble

01:10:24.700 --> 01:10:28.340
So this does not need to be babbled to be a sign from God. It doesn't need to be a

01:10:28.400 --> 01:10:30.560
heavenly prayer language to be a sign from God.

01:10:30.560 --> 01:10:33.040
Because this is how this would look if it was still in effect.

01:10:33.040 --> 01:10:34.560
This would be the miraculous gift.

01:10:34.560 --> 01:10:36.040
Imagine you could go out soul-wanting

01:10:36.040 --> 01:10:37.640
and knock on someone's door.

01:10:37.640 --> 01:10:39.820
They're like, oh, I speak Spanish.

01:10:39.820 --> 01:10:41.940
And then you could just whip out Spanish on the spot

01:10:41.940 --> 01:10:42.640
and get them saved.

01:10:42.640 --> 01:10:43.760
It would be super awesome.

01:10:43.760 --> 01:10:46.000
I'm like, God, can we get this back a little bit, OK?

01:10:46.000 --> 01:10:47.680
It'd be super cool.

01:10:47.680 --> 01:10:49.720
But this is just not the reality more.

01:10:49.720 --> 01:10:51.440
Because everyone's on equal footing.

01:10:51.440 --> 01:10:53.240
Because I was telling you guys last time,

01:10:53.240 --> 01:10:55.760
God doesn't want people just to believe through signs.

01:10:55.760 --> 01:10:56.400
So they don't, he doesn't.

01:10:56.400 --> 01:11:00.400
want them to just trust in miracles. He wants them to trust in the death, burial

01:11:00.400 --> 01:11:03.640
and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is exactly what Paul brings up right

01:11:03.640 --> 01:11:07.200
after this chapter. He's like, hey, this is the gospel that you have to believe

01:11:07.200 --> 01:11:11.640
that Jesus Christ was, you know, perfect, that he died for our sins according to

01:11:11.640 --> 01:11:14.120
scriptures, and that he rose again on the third day according to scriptures.

01:11:14.120 --> 01:11:16.900
That's what God wants us to put our faith in.

01:11:17.100 --> 01:11:18.640
not just the signs and the miracles.

01:11:18.640 --> 01:11:19.900
And he did that at times,

01:11:19.900 --> 01:11:22.580
and he did that when at the beginning of the spring of the gospel,

01:11:22.580 --> 01:11:25.100
but now per se, if you will, we're on equal footing.

01:11:25.100 --> 01:11:28.800
Okay, people can, so now everybody just has to believe what the Bible says.

01:11:28.800 --> 01:11:29.800
That's what God wants.

01:11:29.800 --> 01:11:34.300
It says that the foolishness of preaching is what God is pleased to save people with.

01:11:35.100 --> 01:11:39.380
Or another way could be like speaking in a language is that church that you know

01:11:39.900 --> 01:11:43.460
Would be like a foreign language. Okay, obviously that'd be the gift of an effect as well

01:11:43.820 --> 01:11:47.380
But read verse 23 with me one more time and I'm getting towards the end of the sermon so stick with me

01:11:47.380 --> 01:11:48.700
Okay verse number 23

01:11:48.700 --> 01:11:51.100
it says if therefore the whole church come to

01:11:51.340 --> 01:11:57.660
become together in one place and all speak with tongues and there are and come in those that are unlearned or unbelievers will they not

01:11:57.660 --> 01:11:59.660
say that you're mad I

01:12:00.100 --> 01:12:02.100
specifically thought about this verse for a long time because

01:12:03.600 --> 01:12:09.280
It is somewhat hard for me to pinpoint what Paul is saying right here because if Paul was just talking about

01:12:09.760 --> 01:12:13.600
You know foreign languages proper of just like a language that you study to learn

01:12:13.920 --> 01:12:16.160
I could explain this very well like I could just be like oh, yeah

01:12:16.240 --> 01:12:21.600
Well clearly there'd be people that have all these different languages and they're kind of in a melting pot area

01:12:22.080 --> 01:12:26.880
And they're speaking in tongues all at one time like in their different languages in the service and paul is kind of being like hey

01:12:27.440 --> 01:12:30.420
Don't do that, which I do think is applicable nowadays

01:12:30.900 --> 01:12:36.660
But the thing is though, is that this is clearly in reference to the gift of tongues though right here.

01:12:36.660 --> 01:12:40.260
It's not just the studied, okay? Because if you look at verse 22, it said,

01:12:40.900 --> 01:12:45.220
wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not.

01:12:45.220 --> 01:12:48.900
That's not a language you study, that's the gift of tongues that's a sign, right?

01:12:48.900 --> 01:12:52.900
But prophesying is served not to them that believe not, but for them which believe.

01:12:52.900 --> 01:12:53.860
So I was kind of like...

01:12:54.800 --> 01:12:58.400
This is the issue I was having, if you will, okay?

01:12:58.400 --> 01:13:01.400
This was my thought process that, you know,

01:13:01.400 --> 01:13:04.800
if people are being enabled by the Holy Spirit

01:13:04.800 --> 01:13:07.800
to speak in a foreign language,

01:13:07.800 --> 01:13:09.900
why would he allow them to speak in a foreign language

01:13:09.900 --> 01:13:11.400
that nobody else in the room understands?

01:13:11.400 --> 01:13:12.900
You can't understand what I'm saying?

01:13:12.900 --> 01:13:14.400
Like, or there would be, like, no purpose for it.

01:13:14.400 --> 01:13:18.100
Like, if nobody in here, you know, spoke French...

01:13:18.400 --> 01:13:21.920
I don't even want to use French. Okay, let's just go Spanish. Okay, if nobody here spoke Spanish,

01:13:21.920 --> 01:13:26.400
okay, and then like I had to get the tongues at this time, okay, and then I could speak Spanish

01:13:26.400 --> 01:13:29.440
and be like, you know, like, what's the point of that? Like, why would the Holy Spirit,

01:13:29.440 --> 01:13:33.760
obviously I'm speaking as a man here, okay, why would he allow that if that was the case? Because

01:13:33.760 --> 01:13:37.520
it would kind of seem like it doesn't make that much sense. You guys follow what I'm saying here?

01:13:37.520 --> 01:13:43.200
Like, why is it that he would allow them to all speak in tongues?

01:13:44.100 --> 01:13:47.780
even if they didn't all understand what they each other were saying, like what would be the purpose

01:13:47.780 --> 01:13:52.180
of that? This is the conclusions I came to, okay? There's two things I think that could resolve that.

01:13:52.400 --> 01:13:55.720
Number one, like I kind of submitted to you guys earlier, if the languages that you learned

01:13:55.720 --> 01:13:58.560
were permanent, this would explain this very well.

01:13:58.560 --> 01:14:03.560
That you know, if they learned these languages and then they had them, you know, for a permanent

01:14:03.560 --> 01:14:08.040
amount of time, then someone could go to church with the languages that they learned from

01:14:08.040 --> 01:14:09.040
the Holy Spirit, right?

01:14:09.040 --> 01:14:10.840
Because it would still be about the Holy Spirit.

01:14:10.840 --> 01:14:13.680
And then they could just, you know, basically show off these different languages that they

01:14:13.680 --> 01:14:17.460
have now that they understand because they could be like, oh yeah, look how spiritual

01:14:17.460 --> 01:14:18.460
I am.

01:14:18.460 --> 01:14:20.260
in all these different languages.

01:14:20.400 --> 01:14:22.400
these are all the things that the Holy Ghost taught me.

01:14:22.400 --> 01:14:24.000
You guys follow what I'm saying right there?

01:14:24.000 --> 01:14:25.480
So then they could be kind of like flexing

01:14:25.480 --> 01:14:26.480
their spiritual gift,

01:14:26.480 --> 01:14:29.620
even though that's not what God would want from them.

01:14:29.620 --> 01:14:30.960
So that could be the case,

01:14:30.960 --> 01:14:32.520
because again, it would just puzzle me

01:14:32.520 --> 01:14:35.440
if the Holy Spirit comes on and off of people

01:14:35.440 --> 01:14:36.920
and they understand the language fully

01:14:36.920 --> 01:14:37.900
and then they don't.

01:14:38.000 --> 01:14:40.440
as soon as he's done using them in that one moment,

01:14:40.440 --> 01:14:44.640
it puzzles me why he would allow people to speak in a language that nobody understands

01:14:44.640 --> 01:14:47.180
and why he'd let them all speak at the same time

01:14:47.180 --> 01:14:50.220
contrary to what Paul's teaching this passage, okay?

01:14:50.220 --> 01:14:52.960
But if they permanently learn the language, that would alleviate this problem.

01:14:52.960 --> 01:14:54.920
You guys follow what I'm saying right now?

01:14:55.400 --> 01:14:57.640
However, the push backs on that are very obvious.

01:14:57.640 --> 01:15:00.000
The first one is this, is that the Bible doesn't actually say that.

01:15:00.000 --> 01:15:02.480
That's just raw speculation, just to be very clear, okay?

01:15:02.480 --> 01:15:05.240
That's not, there's no chapter in verses that says that I was just speculating.

01:15:05.240 --> 01:15:08.200
I'm telling you my thoughts as I was approaching the scripture.

01:15:08.200 --> 01:15:11.600
And I was like, you know, there is no clear verse that says this.

01:15:11.600 --> 01:15:12.360
But also.

01:15:13.000 --> 01:15:31.960
a better probably even a better pushback than that is the fact that if you think about someone like Samson who had the gift of strength as we obviously saw he had supernatural strength he's ripping the gates off of city like the doors off city gates and he's ripping a line in half right he has unbelievable supernatural strength this was clearly a gift from the Holy Ghost that God gave him

01:15:32.800 --> 01:15:37.360
But Samson rebelled a lot in his life and even if you think about how he ended his life,

01:15:37.360 --> 01:15:43.600
he ended his life using the gift that God gave him of strength to push those pillars out and to kill himself, right?

01:15:43.600 --> 01:15:49.400
Why am I bringing this up? Because you could also just push back and say, hey, you know, that people have free will.

01:15:49.400 --> 01:15:57.400
So sometimes people are going to do what God doesn't want them to do and they would use the gifts that they have in ways that God wouldn't necessarily want them to use them.

01:15:57.400 --> 01:15:59.600
That's very evident in the story of Samson.

01:15:59.600 --> 01:16:00.640
that Samson had

01:16:00.800 --> 01:16:03.560
so much potential and how does he end his life,

01:16:03.560 --> 01:16:06.740
he ends his life killing himself with the gift of strength

01:16:06.740 --> 01:16:08.280
that God allowed him to have.

01:16:08.280 --> 01:16:10.440
That's again, obviously that's not God's fault,

01:16:10.440 --> 01:16:13.280
that's his fault because we all have free will

01:16:13.280 --> 01:16:15.360
at the end of the day, you guys follow what I'm saying?

01:16:15.360 --> 01:16:17.420
So that kind of leads me to the second explanation of this

01:16:17.420 --> 01:16:20.320
which could be that the gifts of tongues

01:16:20.320 --> 01:16:23.280
was permitted to these people to speak in foreign languages

01:16:23.280 --> 01:16:25.740
but they had free will so they could speak

01:16:25.740 --> 01:16:27.240
in these languages potentially

01:16:27.240 --> 01:16:28.800
that people didn't understand, okay.

01:16:28.800 --> 01:16:33.800
a different foreign language contrary to what God would have wanted them to do.

01:16:33.800 --> 01:16:36.800
This doesn't even have to be in a boasting way though if you think about this, okay?

01:16:36.800 --> 01:16:39.640
Because I was thinking about all the ways that this could apply when I was writing

01:16:39.640 --> 01:16:40.840
this sermon.

01:16:40.840 --> 01:16:43.880
This could just be like in a way of ignorance because think about this.

01:16:43.880 --> 01:16:46.080
Say like someone at the congregation had to get the tongues and

01:16:46.080 --> 01:16:47.200
they could speak in Hebrew.

01:16:47.200 --> 01:16:47.400
you

01:16:47.600 --> 01:16:52.160
And they could be like, hey, well, I know that Jesus was a Hebrew.

01:16:52.160 --> 01:16:55.360
I know that the Old Testament is written in Hebrew.

01:16:55.360 --> 01:17:00.720
So I just think that it'd be better if I'm speaking in the language that my Savior would have known

01:17:00.720 --> 01:17:02.800
and that the Old Testament scripture is written in.

01:17:02.800 --> 01:17:06.320
I'm not saying that that's right, but don't we even see that spirit nowadays too with people

01:17:06.320 --> 01:17:08.080
where people don't want to call Jesus Jesus?

01:17:08.080 --> 01:17:11.840
They want to call him Yeshua because they think it's like way more close.

01:17:11.840 --> 01:17:14.000
Oh, that's the Hebrew way to say it.

01:17:14.000 --> 01:17:15.360
It's like, but friend does.

01:17:15.600 --> 01:17:18.120
The Bible says, Jesus, not Yeshua.

01:17:18.120 --> 01:17:18.400
Okay.

01:17:18.600 --> 01:17:22.520
That can be the Aramaic way of saying it, but the way that the Bible delivers

01:17:22.520 --> 01:17:25.840
that name to us is Jesus, which is Jesus.

01:17:25.840 --> 01:17:26.280
Okay.

01:17:26.480 --> 01:17:27.960
And English it's Jesus.

01:17:27.960 --> 01:17:29.120
So you should call him Jesus.

01:17:29.120 --> 01:17:30.240
Cause we speak English.

01:17:30.560 --> 01:17:32.360
If you speak Aramaic, call him Yeshua.

01:17:32.360 --> 01:17:35.640
If that's his name in Aramaic or in Hebrew or whatever it is, but

01:17:35.680 --> 01:17:36.720
this is America partner.

01:17:36.760 --> 01:17:37.040
Okay.

01:17:37.040 --> 01:17:39.560
So in America, we say Jesus around these parts.

01:17:39.560 --> 01:17:39.840
Okay.

01:17:41.280 --> 01:17:43.600
Just in the church, you say Jesus because that's the language.

01:17:43.600 --> 01:17:48.460
we're speaking why just bring up a random way like we're from a different

01:17:48.460 --> 01:17:52.600
language when nobody else speaks that language it's kind of bizarre it's like

01:17:52.600 --> 01:17:56.980
every time I refer to Greece I don't say like a lava because technically that's

01:17:56.980 --> 01:17:59.760
the name of Greece is a lot of like Helena or whatever and go oh yeah you

01:17:59.760 --> 01:18:03.240
know we want to go on a trip to a lava it's like no we want to go to Greece

01:18:03.240 --> 01:18:05.700
because you're speaking English you understand

01:18:06.000 --> 01:18:09.440
We're not going to Mexico. We're going to Mexico, okay?

01:18:09.440 --> 01:18:15.360
Once you get over the border, you can say Mexico, but until then, it better be Mexico, partner.

01:18:15.360 --> 01:18:17.760
That's kind of a joke, but you guys understand what I'm saying there, right there?

01:18:17.760 --> 01:18:22.720
That it doesn't even necessarily have to be in a boasting way, that it could be in a way of ignorance, like true ignorance.

01:18:22.720 --> 01:18:28.080
Same thing with Aramaic, like they could say, like, oh well, Jesus' native language was Aramaic.

01:18:28.080 --> 01:18:33.920
This is what he cried on the cross, Eli, Eli, long as the batini, you know, my God, my God, why is that forsaken?

01:18:34.000 --> 01:18:37.840
So that's the language I want to speak in because that's the language my Savior spoke

01:18:37.840 --> 01:18:42.080
You guys would see how someone could come to that or they could say especially think about this

01:18:42.080 --> 01:18:48.360
Okay, this is especially true with the Psalms and with the hymns because the Psalms are all written

01:18:49.000 --> 01:18:52.960
Hebrew right so if someone had that I could very easily see someone saying

01:18:52.960 --> 01:18:58.240
like oh you know the Psalms are written in Hebrew so let me teach you guys what

01:18:58.240 --> 01:19:01.200
the Bible says right here in Hebrew right because that's what the Psalms

01:19:01.200 --> 01:19:04.640
were originally written in you see how someone could have that kind of line of

01:19:04.640 --> 01:19:06.600
thinking

01:19:06.900 --> 01:19:09.100
And you might think that that's random, but think about this.

01:19:09.100 --> 01:19:10.900
Paul brings up the Psalms in this chapter.

01:19:10.900 --> 01:19:11.860
Isn't that interesting?

01:19:11.860 --> 01:19:12.540
Look at verse 26.

01:19:12.540 --> 01:19:15.020
He says, how is it, brethren, when you come together,

01:19:15.020 --> 01:19:18.180
every one of you hath a song, hath a doctrine,

01:19:18.180 --> 01:19:19.460
hath a tongue, hath a revelation,

01:19:19.460 --> 01:19:20.500
hath an interpretation.

01:19:20.500 --> 01:19:23.060
Let all things be done unto edifying.

01:19:23.060 --> 01:19:24.780
I think that that's very interesting, OK?

01:19:24.780 --> 01:19:26.900
That he brings up Psalms seemingly randomly,

01:19:26.900 --> 01:19:28.420
just brings up the psalm.

01:19:28.420 --> 01:19:31.020
But it would make sense if someone had to get the tongues

01:19:31.020 --> 01:19:32.600
and they could speak Hebrew at church,

01:19:32.600 --> 01:19:34.900
that they could think in an ignorant way.

01:19:34.900 --> 01:19:39.080
that Paul's correcting here, I'm gonna just read this psalm in Hebrew because

01:19:39.080 --> 01:19:43.060
that's the original language of my Savior. That spirit still kind of permeates,

01:19:43.060 --> 01:19:46.460
it's still around with people nowadays so it wouldn't surprise me that they

01:19:46.460 --> 01:19:51.740
would have this at this time because there's no new thing under the sun. But

01:19:51.740 --> 01:19:55.300
anyways that's the two ways I could see that this being the case because

01:19:55.600 --> 01:20:07.600
I think it's very clearly talking about the gift of tongues and I don't think it just makes sense to only talk about this in a way that people natively learned a language with him directly bringing up what the purpose of the signs of tongues was.

01:20:07.600 --> 01:20:10.600
Which was a sign to unbelievers, yeah?

01:20:10.600 --> 01:20:12.300
Verse number 24 it says...

01:20:12.700 --> 01:20:17.000
But if all prophesy and there come in one that believeth not or one unlearned,

01:20:17.000 --> 01:20:22.600
he is convinced of all, he is judged of all, and thus the secrets of his heart made manifest.

01:20:22.600 --> 01:20:28.600
And so falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is in you of a truth.

01:20:28.600 --> 01:20:34.100
Now, I think that this applies to the gift of prophecy as well, but this is still applicable.

01:20:34.100 --> 01:20:37.000
Like I said, all these things are still applicable either way.

01:20:37.000 --> 01:20:38.800
That's the beauty of this chapter that...

01:20:39.400 --> 01:20:42.920
that we should follow everything that Paul says about speaking in foreign

01:20:42.920 --> 01:20:43.480
tongues here,

01:20:43.480 --> 01:20:47.240
whether it's by our own study or whether it's by the gift of the Holy Ghost,

01:20:47.240 --> 01:20:51.720
because it's all true no matter what. I explained it to you guys last week,

01:20:51.720 --> 01:20:55.600
and when it comes to the prophecy this is true too. Think about this, that

01:20:55.600 --> 01:20:59.240
people come in nowadays and see us preaching the Word of God with power.

01:20:59.240 --> 01:21:02.200
They can see that you're filled with wisdom, with knowledge, with the

01:21:02.200 --> 01:21:03.760
understanding of the scripture,

01:21:03.760 --> 01:21:07.080
and they can see how you're preaching from the Word of God and perhaps like

01:21:07.400 --> 01:21:10.480
that you're preaching from the Word of God can apply directly to their life and

01:21:10.480 --> 01:21:15.400
they can come in and say hey this Christianity thing is real. The God of

01:21:15.400 --> 01:21:16.800
the Bible is truly real.

01:21:17.000 --> 01:21:27.500
But also at this time when they had to get the prophecy proper, you could see how they could be preaching on things that God had revealed to them and that someone could come in and be like, oh, you know, of course, God's real.

01:21:27.500 --> 01:21:33.740
They're like prophesying, like, you know, mysteries from the Bible or they're prophesying things that are directly applicable in my life.

01:21:34.060 --> 01:21:42.860
So you see again how no matter what this is talking about, whether it's the gift or whether it's just the standard prophecy, these things are all still applicable either way.

01:21:45.100 --> 01:21:48.620
But so any way you slice it, okay, getting to the very end of my sermon, okay,

01:21:48.620 --> 01:21:54.300
either way you slice it, the gift of tongues, or excuse me, the gift of prophecy is superior

01:21:54.300 --> 01:21:59.500
to the gift of tongues. So this is why Paul wants him then to desire the gift of prophecy and not

01:21:59.500 --> 01:22:04.620
tongues. So that again, why the Pentecostals obsess about the tongues doesn't make any sense.

01:22:04.620 --> 01:22:09.020
He like spends this whole chapter saying like, hey, it's I, if you speak in tongues, he's like,

01:22:09.020 --> 01:22:12.700
but what you really, really should desire is prophecy.

01:22:13.100 --> 01:22:16.060
And the Pentecostals are like, let's just build our religion

01:22:16.060 --> 01:22:18.300
around this lesser gift.

01:22:18.300 --> 01:22:19.860
It doesn't make sense.

01:22:19.860 --> 01:22:22.460
He's like, he spends his whole chapter saying,

01:22:22.460 --> 01:22:23.860
let me give you the rules about tongues,

01:22:23.860 --> 01:22:26.620
but really I would rather that you prophesy.

01:22:26.620 --> 01:22:29.060
And they're like, we would rather speak in tongues though,

01:22:29.060 --> 01:22:31.900
okay, okay, go against what the apostle Paul

01:22:31.900 --> 01:22:32.740
was saying in this chapter.

01:22:32.740 --> 01:22:35.100
He obviously said, don't forbid to speak in tongues,

01:22:35.100 --> 01:22:36.980
but why would you desire these things?

01:22:36.980 --> 01:22:39.640
Why do they make that their obsession

01:22:39.640 --> 01:22:41.100
when it's the less superior?

01:22:41.100 --> 01:22:45.040
gift. It doesn't make sense. They should be obsessed with prophecies, what the

01:22:45.040 --> 01:22:49.020
Pentecostal should be focused on, but that's harder to fake. It's harder to be

01:22:49.020 --> 01:22:52.500
convincing about that, so they just stick on tongues because you can't really

01:22:52.500 --> 01:22:55.200
disprove them when they're just babbling.

01:22:56.100 --> 01:22:59.140
Verse 26 it says, how is it brother than when you come together every one of you have the

01:22:59.140 --> 01:23:02.660
Psalm, have the doctrine, have the tongue, have the revelation, have the interpretation,

01:23:02.660 --> 01:23:04.580
let all things be done unto edifying.

01:23:04.580 --> 01:23:09.900
If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two or by three and that by course

01:23:09.900 --> 01:23:10.900
and let one interpret.

01:23:10.900 --> 01:23:14.180
These are the last verses I'm going over in this chapter, okay?

01:23:14.180 --> 01:23:19.220
When I was going to preach this sermon, okay, when I was going to type this out, I initially

01:23:19.220 --> 01:23:20.140
The video really hit ten.

01:23:20.700 --> 01:23:23.060
Like, oh yeah, for sure, does this talk about languages?

01:23:23.060 --> 01:23:25.140
And then I was like, well, does this talk about languages?

01:23:25.140 --> 01:23:27.700
Or is the two or three, is it talking about the prophets,

01:23:27.700 --> 01:23:28.600
two or three?

01:23:28.800 --> 01:23:29.880
But the more I thought about it,

01:23:29.880 --> 01:23:32.960
like I see the compelling case for the other side of this,

01:23:32.960 --> 01:23:34.160
that this could be talking about like,

01:23:34.160 --> 01:23:37.320
let it be by two or three, like men coming up and speaking.

01:23:37.320 --> 01:23:39.760
But I think that this is saying by two or three languages,

01:23:39.760 --> 01:23:41.160
okay?

01:23:41.160 --> 01:23:42.480
And I'll explain why that is.

01:23:42.480 --> 01:23:43.320
But if I was gonna give you the other side

01:23:43.320 --> 01:23:44.880
of the argument first, okay?

01:23:44.880 --> 01:23:47.040
They would say, look what it says,

01:23:47.040 --> 01:23:50.200
let it be by two or three, or at the most by three,

01:23:50.200 --> 01:23:52.560
and that by course.

01:23:52.560 --> 01:23:55.080
And that kind of, if you know what that means,

01:23:55.080 --> 01:23:56.800
the word course is used a lot in the case.

01:23:56.800 --> 01:24:01.160
King James, it basically means in order or in turn or one by one is basically what he's

01:24:01.160 --> 01:24:02.160
saying right there.

01:24:02.160 --> 01:24:06.080
So he'd be saying like, if you manage to do that, let it be by one or by two or by three

01:24:06.080 --> 01:24:07.080
and that by chorus.

01:24:07.080 --> 01:24:10.340
So in that like one by one or that kind of in order.

01:24:10.340 --> 01:24:16.960
So that could apply both to speaking in tongues or it could be speaking about, you know, the

01:24:16.960 --> 01:24:18.840
men themselves getting up to preach.

01:24:18.840 --> 01:24:22.000
Because if you jump down to verse number 29 of this, okay.

01:24:22.600 --> 01:24:25.400
These are the literal last verses, okay, that were going over in this page. I'm sorry, okay.

01:24:25.400 --> 01:24:29.000
I was trying to tell the truth, but I didn't realize, okay. First of all, look at what it says, okay.

01:24:29.000 --> 01:24:33.400
It says, let the prophet speak two or three and let the other judge, if anything be revealed to

01:24:33.400 --> 01:24:39.400
another that says, by let the first hold his peace for ye all may prophesy one by one that all may

01:24:39.400 --> 01:24:43.640
learn and all may be comforted. So if you compare that up there, it kind of could look like, you know,

01:24:43.640 --> 01:24:49.080
he's saying the two or three is in reference to people speaking. Like, hey, don't go up and speak

01:24:49.080 --> 01:24:50.580
like all at one time.

01:24:50.600 --> 01:24:53.920
Or don't have some guy come up and be preaching a sermon then have someone else

01:24:54.240 --> 01:24:58.040
Interject on the crowd and be like, you don't know what I got something revealed me from the Holy Ghost

01:24:58.040 --> 01:25:03.560
So you just come up and try to take over the service like that. Uh, Michael the archangel guy of askers the church

01:25:04.200 --> 01:25:06.200
He's like, can I just do a prayer? No

01:25:07.080 --> 01:25:14.380
One by one, right? So so but so that does apply the prophets too, but I think what verse um

01:25:15.600 --> 01:25:20.400
what verse 27 is talking about is the languages, okay?

01:25:20.400 --> 01:25:22.200
It makes sense to me, number one,

01:25:22.200 --> 01:25:24.240
because that'd be kind of like

01:25:24.240 --> 01:25:26.180
being against the men's preacher nights, wouldn't it?

01:25:26.180 --> 01:25:27.520
Because you'd be like, hey,

01:25:27.520 --> 01:25:29.240
you can't do like five people in men's preacher nights,

01:25:29.240 --> 01:25:32.980
you gotta be two or at the most by three, right?

01:25:32.980 --> 01:25:33.820
But it's like,

01:25:33.820 --> 01:25:35.980
I don't necessarily think that's what he's saying here.

01:25:36.100 --> 01:25:41.100
I think he's saying by two or by the most by three languages is what he'd be saying.

01:25:41.100 --> 01:25:44.540
This would make sense in a lot of countries, especially not in America as much, but especially

01:25:44.540 --> 01:25:50.140
like in a very mixed population where you would be at where maybe like 50% of the crowd

01:25:50.140 --> 01:25:54.420
spoke Greek and 50% spoke Latin or something like that.

01:25:54.420 --> 01:25:59.100
I can see someone being like two different languages and then you have your own language

01:25:59.100 --> 01:26:00.620
and then it's being interpreted.

01:26:00.620 --> 01:26:02.340
Because anything more than that would just be insane.

01:26:02.340 --> 01:26:04.100
Wouldn't it be like, oh, you're speaking like.

01:26:04.100 --> 01:26:09.140
five languages and then there's a translation for all five sentences it'd be crazy even three he

01:26:09.140 --> 01:26:14.580
even says like at the most three okay he's like you know kind of put in some restraint on it okay

01:26:15.220 --> 01:26:19.540
but he's like and then he's like and that by course so he'd be saying like don't just like come

01:26:19.540 --> 01:26:23.700
up and like alternate between the languages either because that would be even really crazy too imagine

01:26:23.700 --> 01:26:27.780
you come up and speak in english at first and then you switch to aramaic halfway through the

01:26:27.780 --> 01:26:32.100
the sermon, then you go to like, you know, Latin that the other part.

01:26:32.100 --> 01:26:35.620
sermon that would be insane. It'd be crazy. So he's trying to

01:26:35.620 --> 01:26:37.740
because all these things are so that things are done decently

01:26:37.740 --> 01:26:39.660
in order. Isn't that what he says at the end of this? He's

01:26:39.660 --> 01:26:42.820
trying to get some order in this church because it's just chaos

01:26:43.140 --> 01:26:44.220
up to this point.

01:26:44.700 --> 01:26:49.440
But if you look, okay, so I gave you the argument for that one side, but if you go back to verse

01:26:49.440 --> 01:26:51.040
27, look, read this in context, okay?

01:26:51.040 --> 01:26:52.040
And look what it says.

01:26:52.040 --> 01:26:55.900
It says, if any speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two or at the most by three and

01:26:55.900 --> 01:26:58.220
not by course and let one interpret.

01:26:58.220 --> 01:26:59.960
This is why I think it's the languages, because look at the language here.

01:26:59.960 --> 01:27:03.600
It says, but if there be no interpreter, let

01:27:04.000 --> 01:27:07.000
him keep silence in the church and let him speak to himself and to God.

01:27:07.000 --> 01:27:10.400
Wouldn't you expect if the two or by three there was multiple people that he would say,

01:27:10.400 --> 01:27:14.760
let them keep silence in the church and let them speak to themselves.

01:27:14.760 --> 01:27:16.720
But it says let him speak to himself.

01:27:16.720 --> 01:27:19.120
So I think it makes sense that what he's saying is like, hey,

01:27:19.120 --> 01:27:22.080
let it be by the most two or three and if there's no interpreter,

01:27:22.080 --> 01:27:24.080
he's not speaking at all.

01:27:24.080 --> 01:27:26.400
I think that makes the most sense in this passage.

01:27:27.300 --> 01:27:28.500
what we're going to cover next week.

01:27:28.500 --> 01:27:29.700
Okay. Verse 32 he says,

01:27:29.700 --> 01:27:33.140
and the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

01:27:33.140 --> 01:27:35.380
That's the cliffhanger I'll leave you on.

01:27:35.380 --> 01:27:38.340
Because there was a lot of content even in that sermon anyways.

01:27:38.340 --> 01:27:40.300
Just kind of in summary for this sermon.

01:27:40.600 --> 01:27:46.520
I would just say this that it's important. I wouldn't even say this. I just leave the I just leave you with this thought. Okay?

01:27:47.000 --> 01:27:49.000
It is important when you read the bible

01:27:49.080 --> 01:27:54.680
Even when things are challenging even when things are difficult to really like meditate on things to sit there and like just dive into them

01:27:55.080 --> 01:27:59.160
Sometimes it could be uncomfortable because sometimes when you're diving into things it kind of challenges what you believe

01:27:59.240 --> 01:28:03.260
Isn't it true like about passages like sometimes we go into a passage being like

01:28:03.800 --> 01:28:05.260
I know that this is what this passage is.

01:28:05.260 --> 01:28:08.340
I'm going to make this passage say that, but we shouldn't do that as Christians.

01:28:08.340 --> 01:28:13.440
We should go to the word of God openly because as I've said before, if you don't do that

01:28:13.440 --> 01:28:18.620
with scripture, eventually it's going to become obvious where you're lacking in an argument

01:28:18.620 --> 01:28:21.960
or you're lacking in a doctrine and someone's going to exploit that.

01:28:21.960 --> 01:28:25.640
And then when that happens, it makes people question all the doctrines that you believe.

01:28:25.640 --> 01:28:29.640
People have these like crisis is where like they like have one minor doctrine flipped

01:28:29.640 --> 01:28:31.720
upside down in their head and they're just like, well, everything I

01:28:31.800 --> 01:28:34.080
Everything I've learned must have been a lie.

01:28:34.080 --> 01:28:36.880
It's like, well that's not true either though, okay?

01:28:36.880 --> 01:28:37.500
But.

01:28:37.500 --> 01:28:40.300
people um, but when it comes to scripture like this because this

01:28:41.040 --> 01:28:44.680
This is a challenging passage scripture first Corinthians 14 is a hard passage scripture

01:28:44.680 --> 01:28:46.980
I feel like as far as the chapters ago

01:28:46.980 --> 01:28:50.720
This is the most I've had a difficulty with the passage of scripture in

01:28:51.040 --> 01:28:56.200
Terms of just like like I was saying you guys I want to feel like I have integrity when I'm going through the Bible

01:28:56.200 --> 01:28:58.840
I don't want to feel like I'm just like rednecking answers

01:28:59.020 --> 01:29:01.020
So that's why I kind of dive into these things

01:29:01.080 --> 01:29:05.340
Deeper and try to give you the different sides of these things because I could just blow

01:29:05.500 --> 01:29:09.160
all these verses but then what is that profit because if I'm struggling with

01:29:09.160 --> 01:29:11.180
verses then I know other people are struggling with these same set of

01:29:11.180 --> 01:29:14.620
verses so that's why I think it's important to dig into these things. With

01:29:14.620 --> 01:29:17.100
that all being said let's pray. Dear Mother God thank you so much for this wonderful day, thank you so much for the

01:29:17.100 --> 01:29:20.460
do-for-its God, thank you so much for this passage of scripture God, thank you so

01:29:20.460 --> 01:29:26.020
much for a book that does challenge us God and that does make us use our brains

01:29:26.020 --> 01:29:31.460
God and that it's not the Bible is not just some dumbed-down book that was just

01:29:31.460 --> 01:29:33.500
put together by uneducated people God.

01:29:33.500 --> 01:29:36.680
Thank you that the book that we read is so beautiful,

01:29:36.680 --> 01:29:40.380
it's so poetic, it's so deep, it's so amazing to us

01:29:40.380 --> 01:29:42.700
that even if we read it 100 times, God,

01:29:42.700 --> 01:29:46.120
there's just always something more to find

01:29:46.120 --> 01:29:47.180
and there's always something more

01:29:47.180 --> 01:29:48.720
to be interested about, God.

01:29:48.720 --> 01:29:52.220
Thank you so much that you give us the Bible

01:29:52.220 --> 01:29:54.180
and that you give us your complete word of God

01:29:54.180 --> 01:29:56.100
so that we can study and show ourselves approved.

01:29:56.100 --> 01:29:57.460
I just pray that we would all do that

01:29:57.460 --> 01:29:58.460
and I just pray that.

01:29:58.600 --> 01:30:03.100
We will not allow challenging passage of scriptures to make us stumble in the faith.

01:30:03.100 --> 01:30:06.440
I just pray that it would encourage us to study and read our Bible even more.

01:30:06.440 --> 01:30:07.860
In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

01:30:07.860 --> 01:30:11.700
The last song we're going to do is song number 127.

01:30:11.700 --> 01:30:16.100
Song number 127.

01:30:23.600 --> 01:30:28.400
Kiss So Sweet to Trust in Jesus, song number 127.

01:30:32.000 --> 01:30:34.000
Let's sing it out together on the first.

01:30:34.300 --> 01:30:44.140
Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take him at his word,

01:30:44.140 --> 01:30:54.060
just to rest upon his promise, just to know the sith the Lord.

01:32:39.380 --> 01:32:44.380
Precious Jesus, save your friend.

01:32:44.380 --> 01:32:49.340
And I know that thou art with me,

01:32:49.340 --> 01:32:53.980

01:33:14.380 --> 01:33:14.880
Amen.

01:33:14.880 --> 01:33:15.700
Good seeing you, Brother Ryan.

01:33:15.700 --> 01:33:16.820
Could you close the water of prayer?

01:33:16.820 --> 01:33:16.900
Yeah.
