WEBVTT

22:35.900 --> 22:38.700

22:39.900 --> 22:44.300
hymnals, we're going to turn to page number 397.

22:46.900 --> 22:52.900
page number 397, Little as Much When God is in it.

22:58.200 --> 23:01.400
page number 397.

23:01.400 --> 23:04.400
Sing it out on the first.

23:05.900 --> 23:13.260
In the harvest field now ripen, there's a work for all to do.

23:13.260 --> 23:20.820
Hark! the voice of God is calling to the harvest calling you.

23:20.820 --> 23:28.340
Little is much when God is in it, labor not for wealth or fame.

23:28.340 --> 23:33.820
There's a crown and you can win it if you go in...

23:33.900 --> 23:43.780
In Jesus' name does the place your call to labor seem so small and little known.

23:43.780 --> 23:51.220
It is great if God is in it and he'll not forget his own.

23:51.220 --> 23:58.820
Little is much when God is in it, labor not for wealth or fame.

23:58.820 --> 24:01.860
There's a crown and you can win it

24:01.900 --> 24:05.660
If you'll go in Jesus name.

24:06.000 --> 24:14.000
Are you laid aside from service, body worn from toil and care?

24:14.000 --> 24:21.700
You can still be in the battle, in the sacred place of prayer.

24:21.700 --> 24:29.600
Little is much when God is in it, labor not for wealth or fame.

24:29.600 --> 24:34.000
There's a crown and you can win it if you're

24:34.000 --> 24:45.360
go in Jesus name when the conflict here is ended and a race on earth is run he

24:45.360 --> 24:54.280
will say to all the faithful welcome home my child well done little is much

24:54.280 --> 25:02.000
when God is in it labor not for wealth or fame there's a

25:02.000 --> 25:10.520
crown and you can win it if you go in Jesus name.

25:10.520 --> 25:11.520
Alright, excellent singing everybody.

25:11.520 --> 25:13.520
But the pulcher please open yourself in a word of prayer.

25:22.700 --> 25:28.540
Amen. All right, if you want to take your hand rolls and turn to page number 170.

25:30.300 --> 25:33.980
Page number 170.

25:37.800 --> 25:45.900
page number 170 hallelujah what a savior

25:50.500 --> 25:57.500
sing it out on the first.

26:21.700 --> 26:33.300
place condemned he stood sealed my pardon with his blood hallelujah what a

26:33.300 --> 26:47.300
Savior guilty vile and helpless we spotless lamb of God was he

26:47.400 --> 26:50.640
Full atonement can...

27:01.300 --> 27:03.300
Was he to die?

27:07.100 --> 27:21.780
his cry now in heaven exalted high hallelujah what a Savior when he comes

27:21.780 --> 27:33.800
our glorious King all his ransom home to bring then knew this song

27:34.000 --> 27:35.840
sing hallelujah.

27:42.000 --> 27:43.000
Thanks for watching.

27:43.000 --> 27:44.000
We'll see you next time.

27:44.000 --> 27:45.000
Bye.

27:49.000 --> 27:53.720
Alright, good evening everybody and welcome to Church Foundation Baptist Church. Our first of the week is Matthew 11 11

27:53.720 --> 27:55.980
Which says, Verily I say unto you among them that are born of women

27:56.360 --> 28:00.600
There hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist and notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven

28:00.600 --> 28:07.080
It's greater than he that's Matthew 11 11 again. We're here at our Wednesday evening Bible study and tonight

28:07.080 --> 28:13.320
We're gonna be starting our Bible study on the book of 1st Samuel, which brother Jason said that we've gone through before

28:13.720 --> 28:16.740
But I don't care. We're gonna go through it again and again

28:17.000 --> 28:20.520
redo it again. We'll just do it four times. No, not really. But I will probably go through

28:20.520 --> 28:25.000
first and second Samuel. I probably won't go into Kings though, because I was already

28:25.000 --> 28:29.000
tempted to go into second Corinthians, but I didn't do that either. But yeah, we're going

28:29.000 --> 28:33.000
to definitely go through at least first and second Samuel from the Old Testament to shake

28:33.000 --> 28:37.320
it up a little bit. And because we have the John verse by verse for the New Testament

28:37.320 --> 28:40.200
as well on Sunday evenings. But

28:41.100 --> 28:47.900
As far as the soul winning goes, we have 129 salvations so far in 26, so praise God for that.

28:47.900 --> 28:53.420
And then upcoming events, basically the end of the Galatians Memory Challenge,

28:53.420 --> 29:00.540
and then October 13th we have the homeschool day, that'll be on the 11th, and on October 17th we

29:00.540 --> 29:03.980
have the Tri-City Soul Winning Marathon, that's on a Saturday, and it's going to be, I posted

29:03.980 --> 29:08.940
the details in the group, but it's going to be from 12 o'clock until 3 p.m.

29:09.100 --> 29:15.460
and then we're gonna do lunch afterwards and lunch will be provided if you're out so many but if you don't go so

29:15.460 --> 29:18.240
When you're not gonna get lunch can't be a givvy goblin. You actually have to

29:19.120 --> 29:24.860
Participate in the soul winning. Okay, but if you're like your kids though or another silent their silent partners

29:24.860 --> 29:27.920
Whatever they get a free pass. Okay, but but nobody else. Okay

29:28.560 --> 29:32.660
But as far as the other upcoming events we have on October 25th

29:32.660 --> 29:37.020
We have the church picture day and then on October 28 through 30th

29:37.100 --> 29:40.740
We have the VBS with the creation theme, which I'm excited looking forward to.

29:40.740 --> 29:44.540
And then for the kids in reverse, we have Psalms 121 verse number two,

29:44.540 --> 29:47.900
which quite a few kids came up and told me after the service last Sunday.

29:47.900 --> 29:51.900
But it's my help come from the Lord, which maketh heaven and earth.

29:52.660 --> 29:54.380
That's pretty much all for our announcements.

29:54.380 --> 29:57.340
And I don't think that we have anything as far as birthdays go.

29:57.980 --> 30:01.060
So we'll just go into our prayer requests and then we'll have our song after this.

30:01.060 --> 30:01.380
Let's pray.

32:27.100 --> 32:31.980
Or your song books and turn to Psalm number 67

32:33.620 --> 32:35.620
Psalm number 67

32:40.800 --> 32:42.800
God be merciful unto us.

32:45.600 --> 32:49.600
Psalm number 67.

32:49.600 --> 32:52.900
We'll sing it out on the first.

32:53.400 --> 33:02.760
God be merciful unto us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us,

33:02.760 --> 33:12.040
that thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.

33:12.040 --> 33:21.320
Let the people praise thee, O God, let all the people praise thee.

33:21.400 --> 33:28.100
Oh, let the nations be glad and sing.

33:30.800 --> 33:44.800
For thou shalt judge the people righteously and govern the nations upon earth.

33:44.800 --> 33:53.800
The nations upon earth, see love. Let the people praise thee, O God.

33:57.300 --> 34:03.700
Oh, let the nations be glad.

34:08.700 --> 34:18.300
Then shall the earth yield her increase, And God, even our own God, shall bless us.

34:18.300 --> 34:27.500
God shall bless us in all the ends, Of the earth shall fear him.

34:27.500 --> 34:33.900
Let the people praise thee, O God, Let all the world praise thee.

34:35.300 --> 34:43.300
praise thee. Oh, let the nations be glad and sing.

34:47.600 --> 34:51.120
excellent sing everybody. Brother, I would really like to pray for the offering.

34:51.120 --> 34:54.440
Thank you so much for what you do for us God. Thank you so much for everything you

34:54.440 --> 34:57.680
bless us with God. I just pray that you continue to bless us as a church God and help us to

34:57.680 --> 35:02.320
grow financially and to grow spiritually God and to grow in every measure possible.

35:02.320 --> 35:06.200
I just pray that you help us to keep our hearts on you as you bless this church

35:06.200 --> 35:09.960
God. I just pray that you help us to set our faith on things above and to walk in the

35:09.960 --> 35:14.800
spirit and also below us with a pleasure. I pray these things. Jesus, I pray. Amen. Amen.

35:49.900 --> 35:53.100
I want to take your Bibles and turn to 1 Samuel,

35:53.100 --> 35:55.740
chapter number one.

35:55.740 --> 35:59.400
That's 1 Samuel, chapter number one.

36:05.700 --> 36:09.060
First Samuel chapter number one, beginning in verse number one, the Bible reads,

36:10.180 --> 36:18.580
Now there was a certain man of Ramathai Mazo of Mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkiah the son of

36:18.580 --> 36:26.500
Jeroma, the son of Elihu, the son of Tuah, the son of Zufa, and Ephraimite.

36:27.000 --> 36:28.500
and he had two wives.

36:28.500 --> 36:30.200
The name of the one was Hannah,

36:30.200 --> 36:33.000
and the name of the other was Pernenei.

36:33.000 --> 36:35.600
And Pernenei had children,

36:35.600 --> 36:37.800
but Hannah had no children.

36:37.800 --> 36:40.300
And this man went up out of his city yearly

36:40.300 --> 36:45.300
to worship and to sacrifice unto the Lord of hosts in Shiloh.

36:45.300 --> 36:47.700
And the two sons of Eli,

36:47.700 --> 36:49.100
Hophnai and Phineas,

36:49.100 --> 36:51.500
the priests of the Lord, were there.

36:51.500 --> 36:54.700
And when the time was that Elkiah offered,

36:54.700 --> 36:54.800
you

36:54.900 --> 37:01.220
He gave to Paniah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters portions.

37:01.220 --> 37:08.180
But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion, for he loved Hannah, but the Lord had shut up her womb.

37:08.180 --> 37:14.820
And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the Lord had shut up her womb.

37:15.200 --> 37:23.200
And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord, so she provoked her.

37:23.200 --> 37:28.600
Therefore she went up, she, excuse me, therefore she wept and did not eat.

37:28.600 --> 37:33.200
Then said Elkiah, her husband, to her, Hannah,

37:33.200 --> 37:39.000
Why weepest thou? And why eatest thou not? And why is thy heart grieved?

37:39.000 --> 37:42.000
Am I not better to thee than ten sons?

37:42.300 --> 37:47.500
So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunken.

37:47.500 --> 37:54.900
Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by post of the temple of the Lord,

37:54.900 --> 38:00.700
and she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.

38:00.700 --> 38:04.600
And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts,

38:04.600 --> 38:09.500
if thou will indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaiden, and

38:09.800 --> 38:13.440
remember me and not forget thine handmaiden,

38:13.440 --> 38:17.640
but wilt give unto thine handmaiden a man-child.

38:17.640 --> 38:21.480
Then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life,

38:21.480 --> 38:25.920
and there shall no razor come upon his head." And it came to pass

38:25.920 --> 38:29.240
as she continued praying before the Lord

38:29.240 --> 38:31.300
that Eli marked her mouth.

38:31.500 --> 38:38.060
Now Hannah, she spake in her heart, only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard.

38:38.060 --> 38:41.100
Therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

38:41.100 --> 38:46.700
And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? Put away thy wine from thee.

38:46.700 --> 38:56.060
And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am not a woman of, excuse me, no, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit.

38:56.200 --> 39:02.600
I have drunken neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord.

39:03.240 --> 39:09.080
Count not thine handmaiden for a daughter of Belial, for out of the abundance of my

39:10.280 --> 39:15.960
complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.' Then Eli answered and said,

39:15.960 --> 39:17.880
Go in peace.

39:17.880 --> 39:21.400
And the God of Israel, grant thee thy petition

39:21.400 --> 39:22.920
that thou hast asked of him.

39:24.300 --> 39:27.900
And she said, Let thine handmaiden find grace in thy sight.

39:27.900 --> 39:34.540
So the woman went her way and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.

39:34.540 --> 39:41.900
And they rose up in the morning early and worshiped before the Lord, and returned and came to their house to Ramah.

39:41.900 --> 39:46.700
And Elkiah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her.

39:46.900 --> 39:52.540
Wherefore, it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived,

39:52.540 --> 40:00.700
that she bury son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord.

40:00.700 --> 40:08.300
And the man Elkiah, and all his house, went up to offer the Lord the yearly sacrifice

40:08.300 --> 40:09.500
and his vow.

40:09.500 --> 40:10.200
Hanna.

40:10.400 --> 40:17.040
went not up, for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned,

40:17.040 --> 40:24.280
and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the Lord, and there abide forever.

40:24.280 --> 40:27.200
And Elkayah, her husband, said unto her,

40:27.400 --> 40:30.140
do what seemeth good, the good,

40:30.140 --> 40:33.140
tarry until thou have weaned him.

40:33.140 --> 40:35.580
Only the Lord established his word.

40:35.580 --> 40:38.020
So the woman abode and gave her son suck

40:38.020 --> 40:39.680
until she weaned him.

40:39.680 --> 40:41.620
And when she had weaned him,

40:41.620 --> 40:45.420
she took him up with her with three bullocks

40:45.420 --> 40:48.720
and one ephod of flour and a bottle of wine

40:48.720 --> 40:52.600
and brought him under the house of the Lord in Shiloh.

40:52.600 --> 40:54.360
And the child was young.

40:55.300 --> 40:58.940
and they slew a bullock and brought the child to Eli.

40:58.940 --> 41:03.540
And she said, O my Lord, as thy soul liveth, my Lord,

41:03.540 --> 41:06.940
I am the woman that stood by thee,

41:06.940 --> 41:08.700
here praying unto the Lord.

41:08.700 --> 41:12.900
For this child I prayed, and the Lord hath given me

41:12.900 --> 41:15.500
my petition, which I asked of him.

41:15.500 --> 41:19.380
Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord.

41:19.600 --> 41:26.000
As long as he liveth, he shall be lent to the Lord, and he worship the Lord there.

41:26.000 --> 41:28.000
Brother Paul, would you please press the preaching?

41:45.000 --> 41:48.860
And then you guys are there in first Samuel we're gonna look in at verse number one the Bible says

41:49.500 --> 41:55.260
Now there was a certain man of Ramatham Zopham of Mount Ephraim and his name was Elkanah,

41:55.260 --> 42:01.700
the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zeph in Ephrathite.

42:01.700 --> 42:04.260
And the time I serve in tonight is Shiloh.

42:04.260 --> 42:05.260
Let's pray.

42:05.260 --> 42:07.900
Here with our God, thank you so much for everything you do for us God.

42:07.900 --> 42:10.540
Thank you so much for this church God and for everybody that came to hear your word

42:10.540 --> 42:11.540
preached tonight.

42:11.540 --> 42:14.180
God I just pray that you fill me with your Holy Spirit God and help me to preach words

42:14.180 --> 42:15.540
that be edifying to everybody in this room.

42:15.540 --> 42:17.500
and I just pray that you'd help me to have a.

42:17.500 --> 42:21.040
clear train of thought as I preach. I just pray that you would help me to say

42:21.040 --> 42:23.620
what you want me to say boldly and keep me from saying what you wouldn't want me

42:23.620 --> 42:28.700
to say. I just pray that you would help me to deliver the message you put on my

42:28.700 --> 42:30.100
heart. Just need to pray. Amen.

42:30.300 --> 42:34.940
Telling my story like I said again is Shiloh. We're here in first Samuel chapter number one.

42:34.940 --> 42:38.940
This is going to be part one of my verse by verses on this entire book.

42:39.660 --> 42:44.780
And the reason I chose first Samuel to go through is because number one, first and second Samuel

42:44.780 --> 42:49.740
are my favorite books in the Old Testament. Bar nine. I mean these, I mean there's a couple like,

42:49.740 --> 42:52.700
I mean I shouldn't just say a couple. There's a lot of great books in the Old Testament obviously,

42:52.700 --> 42:58.300
but I just really enjoy the characters in this story. Samuel and King David.

42:58.300 --> 43:01.780
obviously we see in this story and then even Saul in his own unique way has

43:01.780 --> 43:06.380
different elements that I think that are interesting to see and then learn from

43:06.380 --> 43:10.860
as an example things maybe not to do as well but yeah as I was saying the

43:10.860 --> 43:14.140
announcements this is definitely gonna lead into second Samuel as well so we're

43:14.140 --> 43:17.380
gonna do first Samuel and then if we ever get there we're gonna get to second

43:17.380 --> 43:22.400
Samuel eventually but also the reason I want to do this is because

43:22.600 --> 43:26.720
I think it's a good contrast from the verse by verse we've been doing on Wednesday nights

43:26.720 --> 43:29.680
We've been doing a lot of doctrinal sermons from Romans and Corinthians

43:29.680 --> 43:36.100
So I thought it'd be good to go through a story book and then go back to maybe another new testament book after we're done

43:36.100 --> 43:39.540
With these things but what that means is let's look into verse 1 right away

43:39.540 --> 43:43.560
So we can get through this sermon in a decent manner first Samuel 1 1 again

43:43.560 --> 43:50.100
It says that now there was a certain man of ramathim Zophim of Mount Ephraim and his name was Alcana the son of Jeroham

43:50.600 --> 43:55.240
of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zeth, and Ephrathite. Now I kind of looked up and

43:55.240 --> 43:59.360
tried to see if there was any mention of these other men in the Bible before this because

43:59.360 --> 44:03.680
I couldn't recall any and I couldn't find any. So I basically think that this is just

44:03.680 --> 44:08.560
purely background so that we have understanding of who Elkanah's character is. But the one

44:08.560 --> 44:13.440
thing I want to point out is that it does call them an Ephrathite, which I'm not going

44:13.440 --> 44:17.400
to discuss in this segment, but I think that's very interesting for multiple reasons. But

44:17.400 --> 44:18.600
That'll come up a little bit later on.

44:18.600 --> 44:21.680
in this series, but just kind of bookmark that in your brain that it calls him an

44:21.680 --> 44:25.040
Ephrathite. And then let's look at verse number two. It says, and he had two wives.

44:25.040 --> 44:28.760
The name of the one was Hannah and the name of the other Penina. And Penina had

44:28.760 --> 44:33.360
children, but Hannah had no children. So this is the theme that we see a lot in

44:33.360 --> 44:37.360
the Old Testament. We see that men are consistently having multiple wives, and if

44:37.360 --> 44:41.280
we didn't have the New Testament to shed light on this thing, we might think that

44:41.280 --> 44:45.520
having multiple wives was okay. But the Bible makes it abundantly clear in the

44:45.520 --> 44:46.600
testament that it was never

44:46.600 --> 44:50.560
okay for men to have multiple wives and go if you would to Matthew 19 verse

44:50.560 --> 44:53.600
number 7 because we'll see this concept I'd also point out what you guys are

44:53.600 --> 44:57.280
turning there that even our society as a whole like the studies around the world

44:57.280 --> 45:01.840
realize that multiple wives is not a good thing because nobody virtually does

45:01.840 --> 45:04.960
this okay and the people that try to do this in our society though they don't do

45:04.960 --> 45:08.240
it marriage they do they call it like a polyamorous relationship or something

45:08.240 --> 45:11.960
dumb like that these things never work out I think I saw someone post and this

45:11.960 --> 45:14.600
is just a post I saw but they said like 3%

45:14.600 --> 45:19.400
of these relationships work out, the polyamorous ones, not a marriage, but like just when they

45:19.400 --> 45:24.600
do like the multiple people with a person or whatever, weird stuff, okay? But then there's

45:24.600 --> 45:30.400
no wonder why, because this is just confusion, this is bizarre, this is not good for a functioning

45:30.400 --> 45:33.880
society, this is why no societies do these things, it's not good for the kids, it's not

45:33.880 --> 45:40.800
good for your marriage either. And we see in Matthew 19, 7, Jesus kind of makes it clear

45:40.800 --> 45:42.600
what God expects in marriage. It says...

45:42.600 --> 45:47.080
They said to him, why did Moses then command to give a writing divorce man to put her away?

45:47.080 --> 45:50.520
He said unto them, Moses, because the hardness of your heart suffered you to put away your

45:50.520 --> 45:52.960
wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

45:52.960 --> 45:56.680
And I say unto you, whoso shall put away his wife except to be for fornication, and shall

45:56.680 --> 45:58.520
marry another, committeth adultery.

45:58.520 --> 46:02.500
And whoso marries her which is put away, doth commit adultery.

46:02.500 --> 46:05.200
So I know I've explained this a little bit before, so I'm not going to go too crazy

46:05.200 --> 46:06.200
into this.

46:06.200 --> 46:09.360
I'm also going to talk on this when I go through a perpetual adultery sermon that'll come

46:09.360 --> 46:10.600
coming a future day.

46:10.600 --> 46:16.360
on probably on a Sunday morning as well. But it's important to understand what Jesus Christ is saying here because Jesus Christ is basically saying that

46:16.940 --> 46:20.620
when God made man and woman in the beginning

46:20.700 --> 46:27.740
this was his perfect will for marriage that God made Adam and Eve and he didn't make Adam and Eve's a

46:27.740 --> 46:35.200
right, he didn't make plural. He just made Adam and Eve. This was his perfect will for marriage for one man and for one woman to be

46:35.200 --> 46:38.520
together and also his perfect will was for them to

46:38.600 --> 46:45.200
Once one man one woman got married they were supposed to stay together forever is also what the Bible teaches us in Genesis 2 24

46:45.200 --> 46:50.660
It says therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be

46:51.160 --> 46:55.360
One flesh so we can see from these verses and even from Genesis itself

46:55.360 --> 47:00.240
Even though Genesis 2 24 isn't as clear as what Jesus Christ gives us in the New Testament

47:00.240 --> 47:06.600
They still could have looked at this foundational book and understand they're like hey if God if this is the design for God for Mary

47:06.600 --> 47:13.000
For one man and one woman to be together and become one flesh, this is how God designed it,

47:13.000 --> 47:15.480
then that's what we should replicate in our marriage as well.

47:15.480 --> 47:20.680
Jesus Christ just only makes this more clear in the New Testament, but this was always wrong.

47:20.680 --> 47:25.720
It was always wrong to have multiple wives and it was always wrong to divorce your spouse

47:25.720 --> 47:29.000
except for the cause of fornication. It's obviously the caveat that Jesus Christ gives.

47:29.000 --> 47:30.300
However...

47:30.500 --> 47:35.220
When it comes to these things, okay, God says that he does this that he he he

47:35.600 --> 47:41.540
Allows these things to happen in the law because of the hardness of these people's hearts

47:41.540 --> 47:45.880
So what we understand from these verses then is that legally it was okay

47:46.360 --> 47:48.840
Legally, okay. It was okay for a man to have multiple wives

47:48.840 --> 47:54.100
But morally it was never okay and the same is true of divorce that it was legally okay to divorce

47:54.120 --> 47:58.480
But it was morally not okay to divorce is what the Bible teaches us and some of the

47:58.500 --> 48:01.740
kind of take that verbiage that it says right there that it says you know Moses

48:01.740 --> 48:06.540
you know well what was then why did Moses give us a writing divorcement but

48:06.540 --> 48:10.820
I want to understand that like this idea that Moses kind of like just slipped

48:10.820 --> 48:14.420
this thing in of divorce against God's will is not what the Bible is teaching

48:14.420 --> 48:17.460
us here he's just clarifying that Moses is obviously the one who wrote the books

48:17.460 --> 48:21.060
of the law so that's that's what he's gonna he's not trying to be like Moses

48:21.060 --> 48:25.060
said this he kind of behind my back he kind of added this thing of divorcement

48:25.060 --> 48:26.500
know God allowed Moses

48:26.500 --> 48:29.780
to put that in the Bible. And if that's not true, then we can't trust anything in the

48:29.780 --> 48:32.860
Bible. Because then you could just say that any author is just slipping things in when

48:32.860 --> 48:37.580
they want to, whenever it's convenient to them. No, no, no. This is the law of God.

48:37.580 --> 48:43.020
God allowed you to get divorced legally, but not morally, okay? And we see this, go to

48:43.020 --> 48:52.380
Exodus 21 verse 21, verse number 9, and we'll see another commandment that's very much like

48:52.380 --> 48:54.500
like this. Exodus 21.

48:54.500 --> 48:57.600
verse number nine it says

48:57.800 --> 49:02.280
And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of

49:02.280 --> 49:08.600
daughters. If he take him another wife, her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage,

49:08.600 --> 49:13.000
shall he not diminish." If you're looking for a loophole in the Bible to tell you that you can

49:13.000 --> 49:15.800
have multiple wives, this is the verse you're going to go to. You're going to be like, look,

49:15.800 --> 49:22.280
right there in the law of God itself, it says, if you take a second wife, which means that God is

49:22.280 --> 49:25.800
Okay with me taking a second wife wrong though. Why do we?

49:25.800 --> 49:29.520
know that's wrong because from the beginning it was not so. In the beginning again Jesus

49:29.520 --> 49:35.480
Christ he said he made man and woman. Adam and Eve is what God's design was. So what's

49:35.480 --> 49:39.800
going on with this commandment then? What's going on with this commandment is that God

49:39.800 --> 49:42.660
for the hardness of our hearts because he knew that there'd be people out there that

49:42.660 --> 49:48.160
disobey his commandments put these there as a basically like a second safety net to not

49:48.160 --> 49:53.360
make a bad situation worse is what he does with these commandments. So God legally allowed

49:53.360 --> 49:53.800
you.

49:53.800 --> 49:56.440
to divorce your wife because he knew that if

49:56.440 --> 49:59.040
because he knew that people would do this anyways.

49:59.040 --> 50:00.320
Even without that writing there,

50:00.320 --> 50:01.880
people were still gonna separate from their wives.

50:01.880 --> 50:04.900
But God kind of gives you a system right there to make it.

50:05.100 --> 50:10.340
To make preventive from being worse. Okay from making a bad situation worse. So that's clear-cut the example

50:10.340 --> 50:13.280
The same thing is true. He doesn't want you to take a second wife

50:13.280 --> 50:15.280
That's not what this verse is saying in Exodus 21 10

50:15.300 --> 50:20.180
What he's saying is that if you disobey him you go against his will and you do take a second wife

50:20.220 --> 50:23.980
You have to treat the first wife equal with the second wife is what he's saying right here

50:24.020 --> 50:28.540
So these commandments are not there to justify us in doing these things there to prevent us from

50:28.860 --> 50:33.000
Committing even more sin is what the Bible is teaching us in these verses. Okay, so

50:33.100 --> 50:38.720
Go to Deuteronomy 17 verse number 17 if you would have a quick Deuteronomy 17 verse number 17

50:38.940 --> 50:43.440
Because the Pharisees because they didn't understand this they're going around teaching people we get divorced for any reason

50:43.820 --> 50:48.680
Okay, that's what that's literally the bonehead question that goes to Jesus with they're like can we get devoted?

50:48.680 --> 50:53.880
Can a man put away his wife for any cause he's like no what in the world and that's bizarre me too because

50:54.180 --> 50:58.880
Even like outside of that like in Malachi you see that God he says he hates the putting away

50:58.880 --> 51:00.880
He hates when people are dealing treacherously

51:01.100 --> 51:04.020
with the wife of their youth and then they have the audacity with those scriptures there

51:04.020 --> 51:07.860
to come up to him and be like, can a man divorce his wife for any cause?

51:07.860 --> 51:11.140
He's like no and they're like well then why did Moses put it in the Bible?

51:11.140 --> 51:14.580
He's like because the hardest of your hearts, that's why he put that in the law, that's

51:14.580 --> 51:18.820
why God allowed him to put that in the law but this was never God's perfect will.

51:18.820 --> 51:22.140
That's what you should understand from these verses so far and you guys are going to Deuteronomy

51:22.140 --> 51:26.500
17 verse number 17 so what Jesus Christ is doing here is he's clarifying the law of Moses,

51:26.500 --> 51:29.100
He's not contradicting the law of Moses.

51:29.100 --> 51:30.700
is he changing the law of Moses right here?

51:30.700 --> 51:32.260
Because that's also an interpretation people have.

51:32.260 --> 51:33.780
They think that he's like changing the rules

51:33.780 --> 51:34.620
on divorce right here.

51:34.620 --> 51:38.020
No, he's just clarifying why that's in the Bible

51:38.020 --> 51:38.860
in the first place.

51:38.860 --> 51:40.300
That's what you understand, okay?

51:40.300 --> 51:45.020
But, you guys are going to do around with 17, 17.

51:45.020 --> 51:46.860
Speaking about divorce, okay,

51:46.860 --> 51:48.140
I wanna bring a couple things about this.

51:48.140 --> 51:52.100
Number one is that it's very evident from these verses

51:52.100 --> 51:55.800
that God allowed divorce, again, I said legally,

51:55.800 --> 51:57.020
but not morally.

51:57.100 --> 52:01.440
So people out there sometimes will say like, you know, we should make divorce illegal and

52:01.440 --> 52:03.620
they'll say all these different arguments because divorce is bad.

52:03.620 --> 52:05.620
I agree that divorce is bad.

52:05.620 --> 52:06.620
Divorce is wicked.

52:06.620 --> 52:07.620
It's evil.

52:07.620 --> 52:08.620
That is against the Bible.

52:08.620 --> 52:09.300
But clearly here.

52:09.700 --> 52:14.260
The law of Moses permits divorce. It puts that system in place. So how could we get up and say,

52:14.260 --> 52:18.820
oh, we should ban all divorce. That's not in the law of Moses. So you're just making that up.

52:18.820 --> 52:23.700
Then that's, that's not in the law of God in the law of God. It puts a permission in for

52:23.700 --> 52:28.820
divorce legally is what he's obviously saying again. I'm trying to clarify that not morally

52:28.820 --> 52:33.140
because Jesus Christ only gives the one exception for the cause of fornication for divorce.

52:33.140 --> 52:37.620
But then second of all, you know what else he also permits in the law of God. He permits multiple

52:37.700 --> 52:41.640
wives which is interesting to me because in America even as liberal as we are we still

52:41.640 --> 52:45.980
don't allow multiple wives under this system they're like no can't do that but was this

52:45.980 --> 52:50.500
illegal in the law of God? It was not illegal in the law of God it was morally wrong it's

52:50.500 --> 52:54.380
simple but this is what you should understand about sins not every sin that we do is illegal

52:54.380 --> 53:00.060
okay? Like what I mean by that is that it's a sin to lie but if you lie the governor doesn't

53:00.060 --> 53:02.820
need to come to your house and arrest you and take you to jail and be like well you

53:02.820 --> 53:04.220
July, you should have done that.

53:04.220 --> 53:05.140
Obviously, you should have done that.

53:05.140 --> 53:05.700
It's a sin.

53:05.700 --> 53:09.900
But God's the one who punishes that situation. It's not the government's job to punish you in that situation

53:09.900 --> 53:13.020
Because it's not a crime to do these things you understand what I'm saying the difference between

53:13.420 --> 53:17.180
Something that's a sin and then something that's a crime in and of itself

53:17.180 --> 53:18.540
So the same is true with multiple wives

53:18.540 --> 53:23.620
How could you say that they should be illegal to have multiple wives when it is not illegal in the law of God and remember?

53:23.700 --> 53:27.100
The law of the Lord is perfect is what the Bible teaches us. So it gives this

53:27.820 --> 53:30.100
These exceptions here, so I don't understand how

53:30.940 --> 53:33.700
People could like get up and argue the opposite of what the Bible

53:33.700 --> 53:36.980
saying here. How can you get up and say that a divorce should be illegal when that's not what the Bible says?

53:36.980 --> 53:41.060
How can you get up and say that multiple wives should be illegal when that's not what the Bible says?

53:41.060 --> 53:45.540
I don't understand these things. It doesn't make sense to me. Here's another thing that people bring up about these things though,

53:45.540 --> 53:49.560
is that they'll say that having multiple wives is

53:50.700 --> 53:57.780
adultery, which I want to pause and just say that I understand why people think this and I think that it's a very logical

53:57.980 --> 54:01.700
conclusion to come to. If you disagree with me on this little point that I'm making right now,

54:01.700 --> 54:05.120
here this is okay because this is my opinion okay this is my speculation on

54:05.120 --> 54:08.480
on as far as the multiple wives go because the Bible no matter which way

54:08.480 --> 54:12.400
you slice it does not make it abundantly clear in this regard and me and brother

54:12.400 --> 54:14.720
Jason brother Ryan we're all just talking about this out there and we all had a

54:14.720 --> 54:18.520
little bit of different opinions this is okay but concerning what the Bible says

54:18.520 --> 54:23.400
about adultery some people say that multiplying wives is adultery but the

54:23.400 --> 54:26.280
thing is is that the Bible does not actually say this okay go to you guys

54:26.280 --> 54:29.560
are there in Deuteronomy 17 17 look what it says there this is the one mention

54:29.560 --> 54:29.700
No.

54:29.700 --> 54:33.740
have of basically condemning the multiple wives. It says, neither shall he multiply wives to

54:33.740 --> 54:39.540
himself that his heart turn not away, neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver

54:39.540 --> 54:44.940
and gold. So for why I'm showing you this verse, okay, is because I think it's very

54:44.940 --> 54:49.020
interesting that in any time that the Bible could have mentioned that adding multiple

54:49.020 --> 54:50.500
wives yourself was adultery.

54:50.900 --> 55:03.460
He never says this and this would be the perfect person to do this. He could say like, hey, it's wrong to multiply wives yourselves because of adultery, but never do we see this in the Bible. We only say he only says right here it's wrong to multiply wives unto himself.

55:03.700 --> 55:14.340
And I just find it extremely bizarre that if this was adultery that God would never flat out say that. Okay. It would be I just wouldn't understand that why he wouldn't do that. Go to Genesis 25 verse number one.

55:14.340 --> 55:16.740
Genesis 25 verse number one.

55:17.200 --> 55:20.880
And if you know the context here, okay, while you're turning there, of Deuteronomy 17,

55:20.880 --> 55:23.280
you'll know that this is about kings, okay?

55:23.280 --> 55:26.480
And they'll say, well, it was only wrong for kings to have multiple wives.

55:26.480 --> 55:28.960
Wrong, though, okay? And it's wrong for this reason.

55:28.960 --> 55:32.880
Because this is not saying that it's only wrong for kings to multiply wives on themselves.

55:32.880 --> 55:36.560
It's wrong for everybody, but it's especially wrong for kings, what this is saying.

55:36.560 --> 55:39.680
And just like in Proverbs, when Lemuel's mother is speaking to him,

55:39.680 --> 55:42.720
she says it's not for kings, so Lemuel, to drink wine, right?

55:42.720 --> 55:44.880
Does that mean that it's okay for everybody else to drink wine?

55:45.200 --> 55:48.960
No, it just means it's especially wrong for kings to be doing these things.

55:48.960 --> 55:50.560
This is the same thing with the multiple wives.

55:50.560 --> 55:52.560
It's kind of like the qualifications of a bishop.

55:52.560 --> 55:55.280
When the Bible gives the qualifications of a bishop, it's not like

55:55.920 --> 55:58.240
only people that are trying to be pastors have to follow those things,

55:58.240 --> 55:59.920
then everybody else just kind of gets off the hook and like,

55:59.920 --> 56:02.320
oh well, I don't have to be, you know, the husband of one wife.

56:02.320 --> 56:03.200
I don't have to do this.

56:03.200 --> 56:04.960
He's just giving the qualifications for a bishop,

56:04.960 --> 56:08.720
but the man of God is supposed to be an example to everybody else in the congregation.

56:08.720 --> 56:09.920
Obviously, it's a little bit different with females,

56:09.920 --> 56:12.800
but everything else that applies to that, it would apply.

56:13.200 --> 56:17.400
So, the thing is true with a king when he's given these qualifications.

56:17.400 --> 56:21.920
It's not like the king has a different standard, it's just that it's especially important for

56:21.920 --> 56:28.000
a king to be these things, to not be multiplying wives, to not be multiplying gold unto himself.

56:28.000 --> 56:30.960
And it makes sense for the qualifications of a bishop too, and speaking about the multiple

56:30.960 --> 56:32.480
wives thing, okay?

56:32.480 --> 56:32.900
Because-

56:33.100 --> 56:40.300
As far as like why it would be wrong for a pastor to have multiple wives and to be a pastor,

56:40.300 --> 56:44.600
it makes a lot of sense with the first Corinthians because in the first Corinthians we see that he says that

56:44.600 --> 56:48.200
if you even have one wife, he says that hinders you a little bit from serving God.

56:48.200 --> 56:50.500
And same thing with a woman with a husband, I understand this, right?

56:50.500 --> 56:52.800
But if you even have one wife that hinders you from serving God,

56:52.800 --> 56:58.800
so imagine having two, three, four, five wives, then you're not going to be able to take care of the house of God properly.

56:58.800 --> 57:01.000
So that's a little bit of a side note to that.

57:01.100 --> 57:07.820
But going back to this thing with Solomon, okay, I just think it sets a very odd standard that it would be not

57:08.540 --> 57:14.460
That God would not call David or any of these men not one man in the Bible that I'm old wise an adulterer

57:14.460 --> 57:16.740
I think that's bizarre that he wouldn't do that

57:16.740 --> 57:21.280
And also when you even think about the set of Solomon and the Senate itself

57:21.280 --> 57:27.500
it basically be like giving adultery like a free pass in the Old Testament because I was because I was talking about Jason like

57:27.500 --> 57:29.100
I said and brother Ryan

57:29.100 --> 57:34.820
on Sunday but like if you do the math on Solomon depending on how you're counting

57:34.820 --> 57:38.100
these things okay if you do the math that I was doing like you're multiplying

57:38.100 --> 57:41.060
it because if you marry if you have two wives and then you marry a third you're

57:41.060 --> 57:44.600
committing adultery twice because you're you're married right against the two

57:44.600 --> 57:48.060
wives that you're committing adultery against I put this in Chagy BT so I

57:48.060 --> 57:51.260
didn't actually type this out so if the math is wrong this is Chagy BT's fault but

57:51.260 --> 57:53.900
it basically said if you multiply like that someone would have committed adultery

57:53.900 --> 57:57.100
500,000 times and that's only

57:57.100 --> 58:03.300
That's only if you think that the the concubines are actually wives because there's some people out there as well

58:03.400 --> 58:04.420
This is a side note

58:04.420 --> 58:10.980
That's why I have you there in just 25 that will say that concubines aren't wives, but allow me to show you that the Bible

58:11.740 --> 58:14.260
Explicitly teaches us that concubines are in fact wives

58:14.260 --> 58:20.140
Okay, Genesis 25 verse number one is where you guys are at before I get there that before I say that I should say this

58:20.140 --> 58:25.100
Okay, because this would basically to say before I get into the concubine rant. Okay going

58:25.100 --> 58:30.180
back to Solomon really quickly. This would basically say Solomon committed adultery 500,000

58:30.180 --> 58:34.100
times and God was just kind of like, ah, doesn't need a punishment for it. It's like, just

58:34.100 --> 58:37.620
makes it seem like it's a light sin then. It doesn't seem like a very big deal then

58:37.620 --> 58:42.740
to me if God never cracks the hammer down on someone or at the very least again just

58:42.740 --> 58:46.180
calls it adultery, just says that it's a wicked thing. Because what message would that be

58:46.180 --> 58:50.660
to us that like you go commit adultery 500,000 times on your wife and God's going to be just

58:50.660 --> 58:53.100
okay with it as long as it's you know not a

58:53.100 --> 58:57.720
married woman then it's not as big of a deal. It's like okay I don't know because

58:57.720 --> 59:01.560
that basically puts that adultery on the level with like mint, anise, and cumin not

59:01.560 --> 59:03.200
tithing on these things. It's kind of like

59:03.400 --> 59:07.800
Okay, but again, this is not super clear. So if you have a different opinion on that, I'll come back in a second

59:07.800 --> 59:09.400
But this is what I'll talk about the concubines are okay

59:09.400 --> 59:13.880
Look at Genesis 25 verse number one because I will prove to you beyond a shadow of a doubt that a concubine is a wife

59:13.880 --> 59:18.480
This is what the Bible teaches us. Okay, who doesn't just 25 when it says then again Abraham took

59:18.480 --> 59:22.280
What would it say a wife and her name was Keturah and she bare him?

59:22.280 --> 59:28.180
Zimram and Jocshan and Medan and Midian and Ishbeck and Shuah and then just jump down for times sake to verse number five

59:28.180 --> 59:29.760
it says

59:29.760 --> 59:31.400
and Abraham

59:31.400 --> 59:33.360
excuse me, verse number four, it says,

59:33.360 --> 59:35.560
the sons of Midia and Ephah and Ephor and Hanukkah

59:35.560 --> 59:38.560
and Abida and Elda, all these were the children of who?

59:38.560 --> 59:40.080
Of Keturah, yeah?

59:40.080 --> 59:41.640
And then it says in verse number five,

59:41.640 --> 59:44.160
and Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac,

59:44.160 --> 59:45.400
but then look what it says, it says,

59:45.400 --> 59:47.440
but unto the sons of the concubines,

59:47.440 --> 59:49.920
which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts

59:49.920 --> 59:52.560
and sent them away from Isaac his son,

59:52.560 --> 59:55.920
while he yet lived eastward unto the east country.

59:55.920 --> 59:57.120
So how does this prove this?

59:57.120 --> 59:59.400
Because he just kept on saying that these are all.

59:59.400 --> 01:00:04.760
the sons of Keturah and then it says that he gave gifts unto all the daughter, all the

01:00:04.760 --> 01:00:11.140
sons of the concubines but then to Isaac he actually gave the proper inheritance, right?

01:00:11.140 --> 01:00:13.140
You say this doesn't prove that though, oh but it does.

01:00:13.140 --> 01:00:14.920
Because go to 1 Chronicles 132, okay?

01:00:14.920 --> 01:00:17.260
Because that's just the first part of the little trap here, okay?

01:00:17.260 --> 01:00:20.300
The second part, this actually proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt because I knew it like

01:00:20.300 --> 01:00:23.080
people would look at that and be like, oh it doesn't prove that necessarily but who

01:00:23.080 --> 01:00:25.880
are the sons that he's talking about, the sons of the concubines that just listed, it

01:00:25.880 --> 01:00:27.280
is Keturah, that's why he-

01:00:27.400 --> 01:00:28.440
lists her off, okay?

01:00:28.440 --> 01:00:29.280
And to prove that to you,

01:00:29.280 --> 01:00:32.280
look at what it says in 1 Chronicles 132.

01:00:32.280 --> 01:00:36.500
It says, now the sons of Keturah, Abraham's what?

01:00:36.800 --> 01:00:43.780
concubine she bears in ram and jock shan and me down in midian and ish back and shua and the sons of jock shan and shepa and

01:00:44.540 --> 01:00:51.320
Dead end so you have the author of the Bible saying in one spot that keturah was Abraham's wife and one spot

01:00:51.320 --> 01:00:53.160
You have it saying that it's his

01:00:53.160 --> 01:00:54.800
Concubine so what does that mean?

01:00:54.800 --> 01:00:58.880
These things are the same thing okay corporate wants you to find the difference between a concubine or a wife

01:00:59.000 --> 01:01:02.320
But but they're the same picture okay, but people will ask well well

01:01:02.320 --> 01:01:04.700
Then why is there like a separation the Bible between concubines?

01:01:04.800 --> 01:01:09.420
husbands. Here's why. Or concubines and wives, excuse me. It's because of this reason that

01:01:09.420 --> 01:01:13.780
God is dealing with us according to our system that we set up as mankind. That Solomon had

01:01:13.780 --> 01:01:18.780
700 wives and 300 concubines, obviously that's true as well, but God's using our terms. Because

01:01:18.780 --> 01:01:22.740
again, from the beginning, what did God say? What was God's design from the beginning of

01:01:22.740 --> 01:01:27.700
Genesis? For one man and for one woman to be husband and wife, that was his will, right?

01:01:27.700 --> 01:01:31.900
Where's the concubine there? It's not there. This is a man-made system. This isn't a real

01:01:31.900 --> 01:01:32.800
This isn't a real thing.

01:01:32.800 --> 01:01:35.600
This is just how we deal. This is how we dealt with

01:01:36.160 --> 01:01:40.320
Women in the past that we would separate out and be like these are my real wives

01:01:40.320 --> 01:01:44.680
And then these are my basically my handmade wives in the eyes of God though

01:01:44.760 --> 01:01:50.800
They're wives because there's no difference okay, and and that should show us there the fact that he calls Katura a wife

01:01:50.800 --> 01:01:54.800
And then he calls her a concubine clearly in the sight of God both of these things are true

01:01:54.880 --> 01:02:00.200
But anybody's just addressing it with the man-made word that we use a good a good example of this

01:02:00.800 --> 01:02:04.640
show you kind of what I mean is that you know the Muslims have that one system

01:02:04.640 --> 01:02:07.840
where I don't know if all Muslims do this but like the least liberal ones they

01:02:07.840 --> 01:02:10.620
have that system where they can do like a day marriage kind of thing where they

01:02:10.620 --> 01:02:13.520
get married to a girl and then like they they divorce for the next day they like

01:02:13.520 --> 01:02:15.980
set a little contract to do these things so that it's it's not technically

01:02:15.980 --> 01:02:19.000
fornication you know what I'm talking about no okay

01:02:19.200 --> 01:02:26.200
Yeah, okay, you gotta look it up, okay? There's like a little loophole that they do. It's like a Jewish trick basically, okay?

01:02:26.200 --> 01:02:30.520
But it's the Muslims that do it. They're like, oh yeah, we're gonna get married for today so that they can be together.

01:02:30.520 --> 01:02:34.480
And then they're like, but the marriage ends at midnight, okay? Which is very bizarre.

01:02:35.000 --> 01:02:45.500
In that situation though, what I'm bringing that example up is because this, they might try to do this little game and be like, well, our contract only said for a day, but guess what? In the sight of God, that's your wife at that point.

01:02:45.500 --> 01:02:56.100
Okay. After you sign that contract, you have that covenant. It's your wife at that point. There's no such thing as a day marriage. We can't set that system up because God is the one who designs the institution of marriage.

01:02:56.100 --> 01:03:02.900
So it's the same thing with the concubines. That's what I'm submitting to you. That concubines and wives, they're different to their, to men's eyes.

01:03:03.000 --> 01:03:05.800
but in the eyes of God, these are the same thing.

01:03:05.800 --> 01:03:08.520
And society, and I think that he also separates that out

01:03:08.520 --> 01:03:10.760
so that people wouldn't be as confused.

01:03:10.760 --> 01:03:12.840
Because obviously, when we look back at it now,

01:03:12.840 --> 01:03:14.440
because we don't have a system of concubines,

01:03:14.440 --> 01:03:16.200
we kind of are like, what is going on?

01:03:16.200 --> 01:03:17.800
But back, especially when these things are written,

01:03:17.800 --> 01:03:19.640
this would be a big deal to them,

01:03:19.640 --> 01:03:21.320
because they're like, wait a minute,

01:03:21.320 --> 01:03:23.880
Solomon didn't have a thousand wives,

01:03:23.880 --> 01:03:25.640
he only had seven under wives,

01:03:25.640 --> 01:03:28.440
and then he had these 300 concubines over here.

01:03:28.440 --> 01:03:30.920
So I think that that's why it separates it out.

01:03:31.000 --> 01:03:33.800
Now if you disagree with me about what I was saying about the

01:03:34.420 --> 01:03:39.140
The adultery thing. Okay, this is what it is. Like if you disagree about the mobile wife thing because again

01:03:39.700 --> 01:03:43.860
I think it's very logical. I think that I understand where people are coming from.

01:03:43.860 --> 01:03:48.020
I just the fact that the Bible doesn't actually call adultery makes me not want to actually call

01:03:48.020 --> 01:03:52.020
it adultery. However, the concubine thing, I mean, that's just what the Bible says. So if you

01:03:52.020 --> 01:03:55.540
disagree about that, I don't even know what to do with you at that point. Like that is like the Word

01:03:55.540 --> 01:04:00.980
of God saying this. Okay. It defines itself in first Proverbs 32, 132, and then it defined itself

01:04:00.980 --> 01:04:05.860
right here. And that's not even mentioning in judges. It also defines a concubine as the woman.

01:04:05.860 --> 01:04:07.700
I think it says her husband is what it says or it says

01:04:07.700 --> 01:04:10.900
the wife I can't remember which one it is but the very very obviously the

01:04:10.900 --> 01:04:16.060
concubines are an actual spouse because sometimes people say like yeah they were

01:04:16.060 --> 01:04:18.780
just like living girlfriends they were just kind of like you know they're a

01:04:18.780 --> 01:04:21.900
little side piece no they weren't their side piece what in the world that's even

01:04:21.900 --> 01:04:26.300
that's even worse okay because then that would be like a literal perpetual

01:04:26.300 --> 01:04:30.740
adultery that people would have been doing like Abraham like you know

01:04:30.740 --> 01:04:35.060
Solomon even like they would that's even worse okay this is not so though a

01:04:35.700 --> 01:04:41.460
is a wife according to the Bible itself. Okay I think we may be clear on that but I will also say on this too.

01:04:41.800 --> 01:04:45.960
There are people out there that I'm sure they disagree with me on this, that I know disagree with me on this.

01:04:45.960 --> 01:04:47.160
That's what I'd say, okay?

01:04:47.160 --> 01:04:51.320
This is okay though, because there's lots of good people, as I've said to you before,

01:04:51.320 --> 01:04:53.640
that disagree with me about many things in the Bible.

01:04:53.640 --> 01:04:55.320
Many things in the Bible they disagree with me on.

01:04:55.320 --> 01:04:57.880
That doesn't make someone an idiot because they don't agree with me.

01:04:57.880 --> 01:04:59.880
Makes them wrong, but it doesn't make them an idiot, okay?

01:04:59.880 --> 01:05:02.040
It doesn't make them a terrible person.

01:05:02.040 --> 01:05:05.240
I'm just, like, I think people get the wrong idea sometimes when I preach it,

01:05:05.240 --> 01:05:07.080
because I'm pretty passionate about what I believe about stuff.

01:05:07.080 --> 01:05:09.320
So I get up and I'm kind of like fiery, okay?

01:05:09.320 --> 01:05:09.800
This is my

01:05:09.800 --> 01:05:12.960
personality though but like when I say like hey if you disagree with me it's

01:05:12.960 --> 01:05:17.120
okay I actually mean that okay or I wouldn't say it that's why I actually

01:05:17.120 --> 01:05:21.600
put that caveat out there so people be like oh even though I get kind of like

01:05:21.600 --> 01:05:25.880
feisty sometimes get a little crazy like I'm not gonna hate you I mean look how I

01:05:25.880 --> 01:05:29.240
react with like this stuff about hell about Jesus Christ going to hell and I

01:05:29.240 --> 01:05:32.760
tell you guys every time I say that like if you disagree I'm not mad at you and

01:05:32.760 --> 01:05:36.640
it's true like I could if someone came into this room right now as a full-time

01:05:36.640 --> 01:05:37.800
member they didn't believe the Jews

01:05:37.800 --> 01:05:40.680
Christ what the hell? I have nothing against that person. Okay?

01:05:40.720 --> 01:05:45.120
Because it's not the biggest deal in the world. It's not a salvation issue.

01:05:45.120 --> 01:05:47.320
Okay? But when I preach about it,

01:05:47.320 --> 01:05:50.200
I am going to just go hard on it because the Bible, this is what the Bible says.

01:05:50.200 --> 01:05:54.480
Okay? So just, just learn the difference. Okay? There again, as I said before,

01:05:54.560 --> 01:05:57.440
so say now again, this is not the Catholic church.

01:05:57.460 --> 01:06:00.280
This is not the Jehovah's witnesses where you have to believe everything,

01:06:00.280 --> 01:06:05.120
lockstep. This is what I believe the Bible is teaching us and you can take it or

01:06:05.120 --> 01:06:05.800
you can leave it. And

01:06:05.800 --> 01:06:10.100
and I don't think that you're a bad person if you disagree with my definitions on these things that really

01:06:10.480 --> 01:06:12.520
They're really I mean they do matter to them

01:06:12.520 --> 01:06:17.000
But they're not like the biggest deal right because whether or not you think that multiple wives is adultery or not

01:06:17.000 --> 01:06:21.660
It's like nobody's getting put to death for adultery nor that I think that they should have been put to death from multiple wives

01:06:21.660 --> 01:06:25.340
Anyways, but no like these things are not like you know

01:06:26.300 --> 01:06:28.300
These are not like the end all be all.

01:06:28.300 --> 01:06:29.140
That's what I'd say, okay?

01:06:29.140 --> 01:06:31.100
So these are just my opinions,

01:06:31.100 --> 01:06:32.380
but they're not just my opinions, okay?

01:06:32.380 --> 01:06:34.740
I'd also have you know that our pastor agrees with me

01:06:34.740 --> 01:06:36.820
on this, which I don't say to say that

01:06:36.820 --> 01:06:38.120
that means you have to agree with me.

01:06:38.120 --> 01:06:39.740
I'm just saying like, this isn't just

01:06:39.740 --> 01:06:40.860
Remy Island up here, okay?

01:06:40.860 --> 01:06:42.540
It's at least Thompson Island, okay?

01:06:42.540 --> 01:06:44.540
At the very least, okay?

01:06:44.540 --> 01:06:46.880
But I only just say that just so you know

01:06:46.880 --> 01:06:50.220
that like this is our pastor's position on these things.

01:06:50.220 --> 01:06:52.020
So if you have any questions, you can come talk to me

01:06:52.020 --> 01:06:53.540
or you can talk to the pastor about it, okay?

01:06:53.540 --> 01:06:54.300
Go back to verse number.

01:06:54.300 --> 01:07:00.400
two. That was a pretty long rabbit trail. Kyle, could I get a water too please? Thank you.

01:07:02.200 --> 01:07:04.920
Coming back to the text of the hand, that was a pretty big rabbit trail.

01:07:04.920 --> 01:07:08.280
I don't know, that stuff has always interested me though. I've studied that quite a bit.

01:07:08.280 --> 01:07:12.760
I could sway on that position though about the multiple wives being adultery, but again,

01:07:14.760 --> 01:07:19.240
it's very, the fact that that would have been adultery and God never drops the hammer down,

01:07:19.240 --> 01:07:22.200
because you might say, well, multiple wives are the same way they drop the hammer down on that,

01:07:22.200 --> 01:07:25.800
because it's a different sin, okay, because it's not the same thing. Like having,

01:07:25.800 --> 01:07:29.960
because this is what I think, I think the sin is multiplying wives. That's what you would call it.

01:07:30.200 --> 01:07:35.880
multiple wives is the sin breaking God's will is the sin but adultery I mean

01:07:35.880 --> 01:07:38.960
chapter verse where does it say that

01:07:40.900 --> 01:07:45.300
Going back to text at hand though, okay, where are we at? We're in 1st Samuel 1 verse number 2.

01:07:45.300 --> 01:07:49.220
Oh, this is what I want to say though. Why would God kind of overlook some of these things though?

01:07:49.220 --> 01:07:52.740
I think a couple reasons could be as far as overlooking the multiple wives.

01:07:52.740 --> 01:07:58.260
That number one, as I said earlier, it's not as clearly revealed that you weren't allowed to have

01:07:58.260 --> 01:08:02.260
multiple wives in the Old Testament. As I showed you in Genesis 2.24, you could definitely grab

01:08:02.260 --> 01:08:06.900
that from the Bible without having Jesus' teaching in the New Testament. However, it's more clear in

01:08:06.900 --> 01:08:08.700
in the New Testament. So for that reason.

01:08:08.900 --> 01:08:11.060
I think that maybe they could just loophole.

01:08:11.060 --> 01:08:13.900
I mean, actually, I can show you exactly why.

01:08:13.900 --> 01:08:15.940
Because the Jews were doing that with divorce.

01:08:15.940 --> 01:08:17.540
They were looking at a scripture and being like,

01:08:17.540 --> 01:08:21.580
hey, the Bible says if you take a second wife,

01:08:21.580 --> 01:08:23.160
or they were saying, hey, the Bible says

01:08:23.160 --> 01:08:25.420
if you divorce a wife, that means it's okay.

01:08:25.420 --> 01:08:27.940
But Jesus, again, clarifies that in the New Testament.

01:08:27.940 --> 01:08:29.920
Also, different societal factors could be a thing,

01:08:29.920 --> 01:08:32.300
like as far as the fact that they had

01:08:32.300 --> 01:08:34.340
handmaids constantly around them,

01:08:34.340 --> 01:08:35.500
the fact that...

01:08:35.700 --> 01:08:40.340
virginity was a much bigger deal especially back in the day of all those things so then

01:08:40.340 --> 01:08:45.300
if a man gets married to a woman and he passes away it could be like i wouldn't say protection

01:08:45.300 --> 01:08:50.660
but just like you know if it could be a maybe result in less marriages if the guys were just

01:08:50.660 --> 01:08:55.060
like oh i just only want a virginism like that again not okaying this but just saying like maybe

01:08:55.060 --> 01:08:59.220
why he doesn't drop the hammer down on on some of these things or the fact that people are going

01:08:59.220 --> 01:09:03.620
into war and dying very often and there's going to be many women without husbands.

01:09:03.700 --> 01:09:07.860
and then without your husband you have no safety net especially in this culture

01:09:07.860 --> 01:09:11.900
and time and also when they're going out and conquering in war and they're

01:09:11.900 --> 01:09:14.420
killing people and they have just thousands of women out there that don't

01:09:14.420 --> 01:09:18.540
have husbands and it's like okay well I could see that maybe he shows lenience

01:09:18.540 --> 01:09:21.380
because they a lot of those times they would take them to be wives as well

01:09:21.380 --> 01:09:25.220
there's multiple different reasons for this okay but no matter what you think

01:09:25.220 --> 01:09:28.020
about these things I'd say this in the New Testament it's abundantly clear

01:09:28.020 --> 01:09:31.460
though that these things are wrong it's wrong to get divorced and it's wrong to

01:09:31.700 --> 01:09:37.320
wives the Mormons would do well to hear that okay but even I think they

01:09:37.320 --> 01:09:40.240
probably repented they probably said like oh that was the old prophets we

01:09:40.240 --> 01:09:43.000
don't do that anymore maybe not the fundamentalist Mormons though because

01:09:43.000 --> 01:09:47.200
they believe you have to have multiple wives get to the highest heaven that's

01:09:47.200 --> 01:09:50.180
pretty crazy verse number two though it says and he had two wives the name of

01:09:50.180 --> 01:09:53.680
the one was Hannah and the name of the other Penina and Penina had children but

01:09:53.680 --> 01:09:58.360
Hannah had no children and this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and

01:09:58.360 --> 01:09:59.680
of sacrificing the Lord of Hosts.

01:09:59.700 --> 01:10:05.620
in Shiloh and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Thinneas, the priests of the Lord were there.

01:10:05.620 --> 01:10:10.660
So outside of having the two wicked priests introduced here, Hophni and Thinneas, I also

01:10:10.660 --> 01:10:14.980
want you to notice that the house of the Lord at this time was in Shiloh. And so go if you would

01:10:14.980 --> 01:10:20.340
to Judges 18 verse number 31 because the word Shiloh is very interesting too because I gave you

01:10:20.340 --> 01:10:26.340
the definition of Bethesda or Bethesda, excuse me, what I gave you on Sunday. But Shiloh basically

01:10:26.340 --> 01:10:27.700
means peace which I think is kind of

01:10:27.700 --> 01:10:28.740
Cool.

01:10:28.740 --> 01:10:30.780
But going to Judges 18.

01:10:31.700 --> 01:10:37.200
verse number 31. I thought this was super interesting as I was typing this sermon because this really aligns very well with what I was preaching in John.

01:10:37.200 --> 01:10:45.460
Because in John I was talking about in chapter 4 that the Samaritans were deceived, they were misled because they thought that the place that they were supposed to worship at was at Mount Gerizim.

01:10:45.460 --> 01:10:53.600
And I laid out all the reasons for that. But to add insult to injury right here, this isn't even Gerizim where the House of the Lord is at.

01:10:53.600 --> 01:10:59.700
This is Shiloh is like one of the OG places for the House of the Lord. And this is where he chose to have them sacked.

01:10:59.700 --> 01:11:27.700
sacrifice that and it says there in Judges 1831. This is even so basically I'm not showing you this but just take my word for it in Joshua that's where they first put the House of the Lord at Shiloh and then in Judges 1831 we see it continue to be there it said and they set up Micah's graven image in which he had made all the time that the House of the Lord was in Shiloh and then once we get to here in 1 Samuel it's obviously in Shiloh as well and so spoiler alert on this the House of the Lord doesn't stay in Shiloh for much longer.

01:11:27.700 --> 01:11:32.280
longer and Hophni and Phinehas have a lot to do with this okay. Verse number four

01:11:32.280 --> 01:11:36.680
that look what it says it says and when the time was that Elkanah offered he gave

01:11:36.680 --> 01:11:41.680
to Penina his wife and to all her sons and daughter and her daughter's portions

01:11:41.680 --> 01:11:45.120
but under Hannah he gave a worthy portion for he loved Hannah but the Lord

01:11:45.120 --> 01:11:50.900
had shut up her womb and so what is the portion talk about here go to Deuteronomy

01:11:50.900 --> 01:11:53.220
12 verse number five real quick I thought this was cool too because this

01:11:53.220 --> 01:11:55.700
also connects what I was saying about the Samaritans the woman of wealth

01:11:55.700 --> 01:12:00.760
I thought that was kind of cool how that worked out that I was studying all these things to kind of see these different connections

01:12:02.300 --> 01:12:06.300
Or I probably wouldn't have grasped this when I was reading through these things, but

01:12:06.800 --> 01:12:12.500
In Deuteronomy 12.5, we're basically going to see that Elkanah is following the Bible like word for word with what we see in Deuteronomy 12.5.

01:12:12.500 --> 01:12:13.640
Look at what he says, it says,

01:12:13.640 --> 01:12:19.200
But unto the place which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes, put his name there,

01:12:19.200 --> 01:12:23.500
even unto his habitation shall you look, and thither shalt thou come.

01:12:23.500 --> 01:12:27.460
And what place was the house of the Lord at that I just established, the title of the sermon?

01:12:27.460 --> 01:12:29.640
Shiloh is where it's at, at this time, okay?

01:12:29.640 --> 01:12:32.000
But in Deuteronomy 12.5, that's not where it was at, okay?

01:12:32.000 --> 01:12:34.740
But this is what he's saying, but wherever he places his name, that's where they're supposed to come.

01:12:34.800 --> 01:12:39.080
and pray to and they're supposed to offer all their sacrifices to okay and

01:12:39.080 --> 01:12:42.960
then in verse 12 6 it says and did there show you bring your burnt offerings and

01:12:42.960 --> 01:12:47.320
your sacrifices and your ties and your heath offerings and your of your hands

01:12:47.320 --> 01:12:50.400
and your vows and your freewill offerings and the first thing that we

01:12:50.400 --> 01:12:54.000
heard and of your flocks but what it says he says and there shall ye eat before

01:12:54.000 --> 01:12:58.160
the Lord your God and you shall rejoice in all the put your hand into ye and

01:12:58.160 --> 01:13:02.800
your households where in the Lord thy God hath blessed thee so this also

01:13:02.800 --> 01:13:06.320
connects back to what I was saying about the woman at the well because of the

01:13:06.320 --> 01:13:10.560
fact that I was explaining how the house of the Lord was not at Gerizim but it was

01:13:10.560 --> 01:13:15.480
in Jerusalem okay that was the big error but right here in Deuteronomy 12 7 he

01:13:15.480 --> 01:13:18.560
says wherever you put your name there wherever I put my name excuse me he

01:13:18.560 --> 01:13:20.920
says they're supposed to come and do all their sacrifices and all their

01:13:20.920 --> 01:13:24.600
offerings and then they're supposed to eat there with their households that's

01:13:24.600 --> 01:13:27.840
exactly what Elkanah is doing in this story so he's following the Bible

01:13:27.840 --> 01:13:30.800
basically word for word right there that that's why he's doing

01:13:30.800 --> 01:13:34.240
this yearly sacrifice and that's why he's giving them the portions in the first place

01:13:34.240 --> 01:13:35.980
so that they can follow this commandment.

01:13:35.980 --> 01:13:39.480
But this is obviously not a thing anymore because Jesus Christ tells the woman at the

01:13:39.480 --> 01:13:44.280
well, that's why I brought that up, that he says hey the day is coming and now is that

01:13:44.280 --> 01:13:48.840
it's not going to be at the Erasm where you worship or at Jerusalem, it's going to be

01:13:48.840 --> 01:13:53.120
about worshiping God in spirit and that's obviously the era that we live in now.

01:13:53.120 --> 01:13:56.700
But I just thought that was a pretty cool connection to all those things.

01:13:56.700 --> 01:13:58.800
But something I think we can apply to this, like from this story.

01:13:58.800 --> 01:14:02.200
directly to us is that...

01:14:02.300 --> 01:14:05.380
the complexity of man, okay?

01:14:05.380 --> 01:14:07.540
Because we see here that Alcana is sinning

01:14:07.540 --> 01:14:09.100
by having the multiple wives,

01:14:09.100 --> 01:14:11.420
but then he's also following this commandment

01:14:11.420 --> 01:14:12.860
very perfectly, okay?

01:14:12.860 --> 01:14:14.740
About doing the offering and then eating there

01:14:14.740 --> 01:14:15.700
with his family.

01:14:15.700 --> 01:14:18.100
I think that just shows us that as humans,

01:14:18.100 --> 01:14:21.780
we are just very complex in the things that we do.

01:14:21.780 --> 01:14:24.140
And as far as like the commandments we follow,

01:14:24.140 --> 01:14:25.940
you'll find that nobody's perfect,

01:14:25.940 --> 01:14:26.980
everybody has sins in their lives.

01:14:26.980 --> 01:14:29.180
It's just different areas that people struggle with,

01:14:29.180 --> 01:14:30.300
is what we see a lot of times.

01:14:30.300 --> 01:14:36.580
And so I would bring up that we can learn from this is that it's not always righteous judgment to judge someone super harshly

01:14:37.060 --> 01:14:41.480
For committing even you know one big sin in their lives, okay?

01:14:41.480 --> 01:14:44.420
And there's obviously exceptions to this you guys probably already know the exceptions

01:14:44.420 --> 01:14:49.100
Okay, I'm not gonna waste your time on that, but I just say like sometimes people will do like there'll be someone who does something pretty

01:14:49.100 --> 01:14:53.020
Bad, and then they just write them off completely and those be like oh they were a faith Christian

01:14:53.020 --> 01:14:57.580
They were never saved in the first place sometimes. This is true like when they're pedophiles again you understand the caveats of this

01:14:57.580 --> 01:14:58.300
I don't like

01:14:58.300 --> 01:15:02.000
bigger sins other people will commit that aren't those things okay sometimes

01:15:02.000 --> 01:15:04.800
Christians will just be like oh that means they were never spiritual that

01:15:04.800 --> 01:15:06.920
means that they never really loved God that means they were never really

01:15:06.920 --> 01:15:07.800
faithful

01:15:08.000 --> 01:15:14.000
But this isn't true when you look at the Bible, because there's many men in the Bible that commit very great sins.

01:15:14.000 --> 01:15:19.240
I mean, King David, obviously, I mean, it's a no-brainer on that, that King David is a man after God's own heart.

01:15:19.240 --> 01:15:22.160
He's serving God extremely well through most of his life.

01:15:22.160 --> 01:15:33.600
And then it's like he commits two of the most grievous, not most of the most grievous, I shouldn't say that, but he commits two major sins of adultery and then murder is what David does.

01:15:33.600 --> 01:15:36.000
But you don't look at David and be like, he was never spiritual.

01:15:36.000 --> 01:15:39.440
in the first place. It's like, no, this is the reality of us humans though. We have highs

01:15:39.440 --> 01:15:45.080
and lows of spiritual, uh, spiritual Audi and you know, it's just like, it's just, people

01:15:45.080 --> 01:15:50.220
are complex. That's the reality. Okay. Like even, uh, Jonah and, and, and, uh, Samson,

01:15:50.220 --> 01:15:53.920
for example, two guys that use their whole ministry, they're rebelling against God. Basically

01:15:53.920 --> 01:15:57.320
they're not serving God properly. So much that Jonah has to get swallowed by a whale.

01:15:57.320 --> 01:16:01.400
So much that Samson ends up blind and just grinding in a mill house at the end of his

01:16:01.400 --> 01:16:03.400
but God still decides to use those men.

01:16:04.000 --> 01:16:10.400
But then you have other men in the Bible like David or Peter where they're serving God most

01:16:10.400 --> 01:16:13.960
of the time but then they commit just giant sins and then you're just like, dude, what

01:16:13.960 --> 01:16:15.600
are you doing?

01:16:15.600 --> 01:16:16.600
How do you commit this?

01:16:16.600 --> 01:16:17.920
You're denying Jesus Christ?

01:16:17.920 --> 01:16:20.080
You're committing adultery and killing the girl's husband?

01:16:20.080 --> 01:16:21.360
Like huge sins.

01:16:21.800 --> 01:16:30.800
But my whole point showing you this is that it's just not always righteous judgment to just write someone off because they fall into sin or because they do even a really big sin, a really dumb sin, okay?

01:16:30.800 --> 01:16:36.800
Because God, we see, uses men that do big sins as well in the Bible.

01:16:36.800 --> 01:16:43.800
That it doesn't mean that you just like everything about them and their ministry and their entire life was a lie because they fell into sin or something like that, okay?

01:16:43.800 --> 01:16:46.800
Go back to 1 Samuel. I don't know if you know how many of you guys turned away from that.

01:16:46.800 --> 01:16:49.800
And first thing we're going to look at next.

01:16:49.800 --> 01:16:50.100
Thanks for watching!

01:16:50.400 --> 01:16:54.880
But then also piggybacking off of my repentance sermon, I'd say this as well about these verses that

01:16:54.880 --> 01:16:59.600
this is why it proves to us why it's foolish to judge someone's salvation on whether or not

01:16:59.600 --> 01:17:02.800
they aren't committing big sins or not. That's a big thing with repentance. They'll be like,

01:17:02.800 --> 01:17:06.880
oh I gotta look and make sure and see that they actually turn from their sins and then I actually

01:17:06.880 --> 01:17:10.560
know that they believed on Jesus Christ. It's like, well then what do you do with people like Samuel

01:17:10.560 --> 01:17:14.960
then or not Samuel, like with King David then or people like Jonah or people like Samson where they

01:17:14.960 --> 01:17:18.320
commit big sins like you just say that they weren't really saved and they never believed.

01:17:18.400 --> 01:17:21.880
on God this is foolishness and that was the reason I was showing you that we struggle

01:17:21.880 --> 01:17:26.460
with different things because Alkenna is doing one big sin where he's having the multiple

01:17:26.460 --> 01:17:31.200
wives but then at the other time he's also following his commandments properly but then

01:17:31.200 --> 01:17:33.220
there's I'm sure that there's other people that did this in the opposite where there

01:17:33.220 --> 01:17:37.420
was probably guys that were single or just had one wife but then they didn't follow the

01:17:37.420 --> 01:17:39.540
command of coming and sacrificing the Lord.

01:17:39.540 --> 01:17:42.860
My point is showing you this is that people just struggle with different things though.

01:17:42.860 --> 01:17:45.680
People struggle with different things that's why it's not righteous judgment to just look

01:17:45.680 --> 01:17:46.320
down your nose.

01:17:46.400 --> 01:17:50.120
at someone that does a sin maybe that you don't do because you probably have

01:17:50.120 --> 01:17:54.140
sins that they don't do as well. That's why in general we just let God do the

01:17:54.140 --> 01:17:57.740
judging as far as it goes as far as like who's the most spiritual, who's most

01:17:57.740 --> 01:18:00.580
righteous. That's a carnal mindset anyways but you guys understand what I'm

01:18:00.580 --> 01:18:03.300
saying okay. But this is the problem why I was talking about repentant your sins though.

01:18:03.300 --> 01:18:06.140
This is the problem with having all these vague qualifiers on salvation though.

01:18:06.140 --> 01:18:09.860
Like you're like well you gotta be really sorry or you need to turn from your

01:18:09.860 --> 01:18:14.400
big sins or you have to try to forsake your big sins. Just make salvation good.

01:18:14.400 --> 01:18:19.200
No, what the Bible says about salvation is this, is that if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ

01:18:19.200 --> 01:18:21.700
and you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, He says,

01:18:21.700 --> 01:18:22.800
thou shalt be saved.

01:18:22.800 --> 01:18:24.000
That's all salvation is.

01:18:24.000 --> 01:18:25.600
That's how it stays simple.

01:18:25.600 --> 01:18:29.900
That's how we don't get into heresy and confuse people into doubting their salvation.

01:18:30.900 --> 01:18:38.100
Verse number six he says, and her adversary also provoked her sore for to make her fret because the Lord had shut up her womb.

01:18:38.100 --> 01:18:47.560
And as he did so year by year when she went up to the house of the Lord, so she provoked her, therefore she wept and did not eat.

01:18:47.560 --> 01:18:49.700
So what a flippin' jerk here, okay?

01:18:49.700 --> 01:18:52.100
Benita, who has a very beautiful name by the way, okay?

01:18:52.100 --> 01:18:58.900
But a very ugly heart, obviously, is provoking Hannah to tears by just, you know, bringing up the fact that she's barren and just...

01:18:58.900 --> 01:19:01.100
It says that she was causing her to fret.

01:19:01.100 --> 01:19:03.900
She provoked her sore is what the Bible says here.

01:19:03.900 --> 01:19:04.740
It's an evil woman.

01:19:04.740 --> 01:19:06.620
It's a very wicked thing to do.

01:19:06.620 --> 01:19:08.060
And by the way though, side note,

01:19:08.060 --> 01:19:08.940
I was just saying it's a beautiful name.

01:19:08.940 --> 01:19:10.820
I really do think Penina is a beautiful name.

01:19:10.820 --> 01:19:12.780
This is a great tragedy in the Bible, okay?

01:19:12.780 --> 01:19:16.220
Penina and Sapphira, I think are like peak names,

01:19:16.220 --> 01:19:17.780
but they're terrible women, okay?

01:19:17.780 --> 01:19:19.220
So then I can't name my daughters that, right?

01:19:19.220 --> 01:19:21.300
Would you judge me if I named my daughter Sapphira?

01:19:21.300 --> 01:19:22.540
Probably, okay?

01:19:22.540 --> 01:19:23.700
Can I redeem the name though,

01:19:23.700 --> 01:19:25.420
Sapphira, make it beautiful again?

01:19:25.420 --> 01:19:26.900
Make Sapphira great again.

01:19:26.900 --> 01:19:30.580
Okay, probably not. I'd probably get judged and then if you had a bad daughter to be you the worst

01:19:30.580 --> 01:19:32.980
But that's a trouble. Why is it that people are having?

01:19:33.860 --> 01:19:38.760
Daughters and they're picking out great names ten to ten names and then they're just braising them like trash. This is whack

01:19:38.760 --> 01:19:39.420
Okay

01:19:39.420 --> 01:19:44.600
So the lesson should be you know, if you're gonna name your daughter something pretty then at least make sure that she turns out

01:19:44.600 --> 01:19:46.900
To be a good girl not like a panini. Okay

01:19:47.940 --> 01:19:50.580
But going back, okay what we're talking about, okay

01:19:50.780 --> 01:19:54.800
This is an extremely wicked thing to do and it's something that's super

01:19:54.900 --> 01:19:58.320
Disgusting and ask what we should take on this story immediately is that?

01:19:58.580 --> 01:20:04.660
when people have things that they can't control we should not be provoking them because of these things or making fun of them because of these things or

01:20:05.160 --> 01:20:10.380
Causing them to fret like it says here because of these things and this isn't just my opinion about this

01:20:10.380 --> 01:20:12.380
We see this in the Bible all the time in the Old Testament

01:20:12.900 --> 01:20:14.900
Multiple times God will say you know

01:20:14.900 --> 01:20:18.980
But the blind and the maimed and you know the fatherless and the widows

01:20:18.980 --> 01:20:22.780
He basically says if you set up a stomach bug for them if you flick them then he's gonna

01:20:22.900 --> 01:20:27.340
curse you for doing these things. And obviously barren women isn't listed off here, but I

01:20:27.340 --> 01:20:30.540
think that the same spirit really applies. It's something that you can't control. And

01:20:30.540 --> 01:20:33.820
I just think it's carnal anyways. People going after each other. I should just par against

01:20:33.820 --> 01:20:37.200
this and say this, dude, there's some people out there that go after people's looks and

01:20:37.200 --> 01:20:41.540
all these kind of dumb carnal things. It's like, where do we ever see that in the Bible?

01:20:41.540 --> 01:20:46.160
Show me like you see people may getting made fun of for being called like snakes or being

01:20:46.160 --> 01:20:50.620
called vipers or being called like foxes or anything like that. But where do you see someone

01:20:50.620 --> 01:20:50.900
Oh, man.

01:20:50.900 --> 01:20:54.500
making fun of someone else's looks in the bible, someone that's a good person doing

01:20:54.500 --> 01:20:57.260
these things in the bible, you never see these things, you know why?

01:20:57.260 --> 01:20:58.760
Because it's carnal.

01:20:58.760 --> 01:21:02.020
Because last time I checked, I thought the bible says that God is the one who formed

01:21:02.020 --> 01:21:03.180
us in his image.

01:21:03.180 --> 01:21:08.180
So then how much sense does it make to make fun of someone for the way that God made them?

01:21:08.180 --> 01:21:12.460
This is bizarre and extremely carnal is what I'm pointing out to you right now.

01:21:12.460 --> 01:21:14.260
This is not walking in the spirit.

01:21:14.260 --> 01:21:16.660
is like when people are just constantly just

01:21:16.900 --> 01:21:21.500
attacking people for their looks and attacking people for just little dumb things like this.

01:21:21.500 --> 01:21:24.200
This is a person you should be aware of. This is not a good person.

01:21:24.200 --> 01:21:26.700
Go to 2 Corinthians 10 verse number 12.

01:21:26.700 --> 01:21:29.700
2 Corinthians 10 verse number 12.

01:21:30.200 --> 01:21:34.840
The second thing I want to point out about this though, because I was just talking about like this the the carnalness of people sometimes

01:21:35.520 --> 01:21:43.360
Bizarre that you know making fun of people and going after people for big ailments that they have is wicked

01:21:43.360 --> 01:21:44.840
It's evil but on a lesser degree

01:21:44.840 --> 01:21:49.640
I still think like I was just saying that just going after people for things that they can't control is super weird, okay?

01:21:51.800 --> 01:21:52.700
I mean

01:21:52.900 --> 01:21:54.900
The people you see do this in the Bible, who do you see do this?

01:21:54.900 --> 01:21:57.900
Like the kids, the little, the kids making fun of Elijah,

01:21:57.900 --> 01:22:00.900
like, go up thou bald head, go up! What happens to them?

01:22:00.900 --> 01:22:03.900
They get mauled by a she-bear, which isn't always going to happen to you, okay?

01:22:03.900 --> 01:22:07.900
But again, you see that God obviously doesn't like these things, okay?

01:22:07.900 --> 01:22:11.800
2 Corinthians 10, verse number 12.

01:22:12.000 --> 01:22:14.240
And that's what you're acting like when you're doing these things.

01:22:14.240 --> 01:22:16.400
You're just going after someone for their looks or for dumb things like that.

01:22:16.400 --> 01:22:18.240
It's like you're acting like these little kids in the story.

01:22:18.240 --> 01:22:21.360
Little spoiled brats that are just going off and mouthing off to the prophet.

01:22:21.360 --> 01:22:24.240
That's what you're acting like spiritually when you're doing these things.

01:22:24.240 --> 01:22:28.080
But I have you there in 2 Corinthians 10-12 to pivot to this.

01:22:28.640 --> 01:22:30.560
The second thing I want to bring up about these verses is that...

01:22:31.100 --> 01:22:38.660
Um, your spirituality has nothing to do with whether or not that you can bear kids or not.

01:22:38.660 --> 01:22:42.580
Because I think that some women fall into this trap of thinking this, or just, it's

01:22:42.580 --> 01:22:46.000
not just this example, but I'm going to just touch on this because it's in the text, but

01:22:46.000 --> 01:22:50.300
sometimes we'll look at other people and the things that they have that we don't, and we'll

01:22:50.300 --> 01:22:56.940
be like, oh, this must, this must be because I'm not spiritual and they're spiritual, or

01:22:56.940 --> 01:22:59.100
God loves them and he doesn't love me.

01:22:59.100 --> 01:23:02.460
or I'm being punished by God, I'm being chased by God.

01:23:02.460 --> 01:23:03.620
But I want you to see in this story

01:23:03.620 --> 01:23:04.620
that that's not the case.

01:23:04.620 --> 01:23:05.980
Because if this was the case,

01:23:05.980 --> 01:23:08.260
that the most spiritual women out there

01:23:08.260 --> 01:23:09.700
are the ones that bear children,

01:23:09.700 --> 01:23:11.120
then the rules would have been reversed here

01:23:11.120 --> 01:23:14.680
because Panina has the kids and Hannah does not.

01:23:14.680 --> 01:23:17.500
But Hannah's clearly way more spiritual than Panina.

01:23:17.500 --> 01:23:19.660
So don't fall into this trap of thinking that,

01:23:19.660 --> 01:23:21.500
like to think that gain is godliness.

01:23:21.500 --> 01:23:23.140
The Bible says that this is not true.

01:23:23.140 --> 01:23:25.620
And that God has different wills for different people.

01:23:25.620 --> 01:23:27.100
And even if someone else's.

01:23:27.100 --> 01:23:29.740
God's will for someone else is different than your will.

01:23:29.740 --> 01:23:31.920
That doesn't mean that he loves you less

01:23:31.920 --> 01:23:34.500
or more than them, okay?

01:23:34.500 --> 01:23:35.900
And it's a carnal trap that we fall into.

01:23:35.900 --> 01:23:38.020
2 Corinthians 10-12, that's why I have you there,

01:23:38.020 --> 01:23:40.220
it says, for we dare not make ourselves with a number

01:23:40.220 --> 01:23:42.100
or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves,

01:23:42.100 --> 01:23:45.300
but they measure themselves by themselves

01:23:45.300 --> 01:23:49.060
and comparing themselves among themselves are not wise.

01:23:49.060 --> 01:23:49.700
So.

01:23:50.000 --> 01:23:55.000
Just go in, go to, go to, I just want you to go, go to John 9 verse number 1.

01:23:55.000 --> 01:23:57.000
John 9 verse number 1.

01:23:57.800 --> 01:24:04.780
And like so the verse obviously it's in Corinthians is teaching us that just comparing yourself to other people is not

01:24:05.180 --> 01:24:10.140
Something that's wise to do because we don't know why God does what he does

01:24:10.600 --> 01:24:13.440
We don't know why he operates the way he does sometimes

01:24:13.940 --> 01:24:20.740
But we should not just take that ignorance of his will and apply our own thoughts to it and be like we must be getting

01:24:20.740 --> 01:24:25.740
Punished we must be getting chastened. God must not love me enough because you don't know the mind

01:24:25.800 --> 01:24:28.840
the mind of the Lord. The Bible says this over and over again, but we don't know the

01:24:28.840 --> 01:24:32.520
mind of the Lord or his will fully, so we should not just assume these things. It's

01:24:32.520 --> 01:24:37.200
incorrect to do these things. It's carnal to assume God's will when you don't actually

01:24:37.200 --> 01:24:41.960
know his will. Because that's why I'm having you go to John 9.1 because there's things

01:24:41.960 --> 01:24:48.040
that you just might not ever know why God does or doesn't do for you, and it has nothing

01:24:48.040 --> 01:24:52.400
to do with something bad that you did. Look at John 9.1. It says this. It says, and Jesus

01:24:52.400 --> 01:24:53.400
passed by.

01:24:53.800 --> 01:24:58.520
And as he passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth, and the disciples asked

01:24:58.520 --> 01:25:04.520
him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?

01:25:05.100 --> 01:25:09.100
And this is a natural reaction for people, like when they see something bad that's happened to someone, they're like,

01:25:09.100 --> 01:25:12.100
surely he must have sinned, or at least his parents sinned.

01:25:12.100 --> 01:25:17.100
There must be something, something wrong that he did because why is he suffering if he didn't do something wrong?

01:25:17.100 --> 01:25:20.100
Look what it says, Jesus, it says, Jesus says the answer,

01:25:20.100 --> 01:25:27.100
neither hath this man sinned nor his parents, but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

01:25:27.100 --> 01:25:30.100
So Jesus Christ says right here, this guy wasn't born blind because God hated him.

01:25:30.100 --> 01:25:33.100
It wasn't because of something that he did. It wasn't because of something that his parents did.

01:25:33.100 --> 01:25:35.100
It wasn't for any negative reason at all.

01:25:35.100 --> 01:25:41.620
It was literally for such a time as this so that Jesus Christ could heal this man and perform a great work for God that could cause

01:25:42.260 --> 01:25:47.260
thousands of people hundreds of thousands of millions of people throughout time to look at this story and believe on Jesus Christ and

01:25:47.380 --> 01:25:52.400
Also to glorify God Almighty. So but think about this if you were this blind man

01:25:52.400 --> 01:25:55.420
Do you think that this man ever would have thought that that was the reason why he was born blind?

01:25:55.860 --> 01:26:01.100
Probably not right? He probably never would have just been like surely I'm born blind because Jesus Christ gonna perform a miracle

01:26:01.100 --> 01:26:05.180
Kwame right? It's not what he was thinking at all. So that's just to show you again,

01:26:05.180 --> 01:26:09.380
we don't know the minor Lord so we shouldn't just assume his will. And I honestly push

01:26:09.380 --> 01:26:13.040
back too, sometimes people about this story will be like, God's cruel for making this

01:26:13.040 --> 01:26:18.300
guy blind because you know, he didn't even consent to being born blind. It's like what

01:26:18.300 --> 01:26:22.620
the world? People, these people, their consent and all this dumb stuff, okay? These atheists,

01:26:22.620 --> 01:26:25.780
the weird arguments that they bring up against God Almighty. But it's like Newsflash, God's

01:26:25.780 --> 01:26:28.900
the creator so he can do whatever he wants to concerning making people.

01:26:29.100 --> 01:26:32.540
He can make us any way he wants to and we're not to reply back to him.

01:26:32.820 --> 01:26:35.900
Why has thou made me thus? Right? That's what it teaches in Romans. And,

01:26:35.900 --> 01:26:39.380
and even if, uh, even if God does make this guy blind,

01:26:39.420 --> 01:26:41.860
cause he clearly did in this story, even if that's the case,

01:26:41.860 --> 01:26:46.100
it's like he's doing it for a will for his own purpose and God can do as he

01:26:46.100 --> 01:26:49.980
wills and as he pleases. We see this all over the Bible. So like,

01:26:50.060 --> 01:26:53.380
who are we to question God Almighty? That's a very bizarre, uh,

01:26:53.420 --> 01:26:57.020
thought process. Go up to Isaiah 54 verse number one is where I want to go.

01:26:57.100 --> 01:26:59.220
Isaiah 54 verse number one.

01:26:59.220 --> 01:27:00.200
We're coming to the end of the sermon here,

01:27:00.200 --> 01:27:03.760
so stick with me, Isaiah 54 verse number one.

01:27:04.300 --> 01:27:06.980
is where you guys are going.

01:27:06.980 --> 01:27:08.980
Because also think about this, this blind man,

01:27:08.980 --> 01:27:10.660
for being born blind and being healed,

01:27:10.660 --> 01:27:13.220
I'm sure that he gets tons of rewards in heaven for these things.

01:27:13.220 --> 01:27:15.700
That because God made him blind,

01:27:15.700 --> 01:27:18.820
and he made him to be healed in this story,

01:27:18.820 --> 01:27:22.380
that he probably gets a ton of rewards for the people that read this story,

01:27:22.380 --> 01:27:24.780
and you know, it causes them to have faith

01:27:24.780 --> 01:27:26.420
on Jesus Christ and on his gospel,

01:27:26.420 --> 01:27:29.300
from seeing the miracle that's performed on this, okay?

01:27:29.300 --> 01:27:32.220
And while you guys are going to Isaiah 54 verse...

01:27:32.300 --> 01:27:36.560
I have you guys going to Isaiah 54 verse number one. Yeah, Isaiah 54 verse number one

01:27:36.560 --> 01:27:42.680
I'd also just point out, you know, there's people like Sarah as well because I'll talk about like not like looking at yourself and being like

01:27:42.680 --> 01:27:43.580
Oh

01:27:43.580 --> 01:27:48.200
There must be something that's wrong with me and that's why I made this way like we see that in the Bible

01:27:48.200 --> 01:27:54.820
Sarah is a very godly woman. She's but she's barren as well. But even in her story as well

01:27:54.820 --> 01:28:00.240
She was made barren for a specific purpose so that it was a miracle that when Isaac was born he could be

01:28:00.300 --> 01:28:04.080
the child of promise. So there is reasons that God has for doing things. I'm not

01:28:04.080 --> 01:28:07.560
gonna say that I know every reason behind everything. This is just we can't

01:28:07.560 --> 01:28:10.480
know the reasons behind why God does what he does. But this is what I want to

01:28:10.480 --> 01:28:13.320
submit to you about this. We have to trust God no matter what he does in our

01:28:13.320 --> 01:28:17.600
lives. That's the reality. That no matter what God decides for us, that's what we

01:28:17.600 --> 01:28:21.680
have to trust because he is always right. He's always right. And we can't know his

01:28:21.680 --> 01:28:24.560
mind but we know that his mind is always right. It's what we should always know

01:28:24.560 --> 01:28:27.440
though. But that's not to say that there's no reasons for why we don't have

01:28:27.440 --> 01:28:28.300
what we have.

01:28:28.300 --> 01:28:30.300
you know, especially even because we're talking about the sense of being barren,

01:28:30.300 --> 01:28:34.780
like perhaps God has women out there that are barren for a while,

01:28:34.780 --> 01:28:37.020
for a season for them to get, get,

01:28:37.060 --> 01:28:39.980
for them to have children so that they can inspire other women or help encourage

01:28:39.980 --> 01:28:41.700
other women that were going through something that's similar,

01:28:42.020 --> 01:28:45.860
or perhaps that he has some women that are barren so that they can, you know,

01:28:45.860 --> 01:28:47.380
maybe he has a kid set up that he wants,

01:28:47.420 --> 01:28:50.660
that he wants them to adopt or multiple kids that he wants them to adopt so that,

01:28:51.300 --> 01:28:54.580
uh, they can raise them as their own and so that they can, um, you know,

01:28:54.580 --> 01:28:56.180
get them saved and help them to have a good life.

01:28:56.300 --> 01:29:02.500
You know, maybe it's God's will that someone's barren because he wants you to to serve him in a way that you couldn't without kids

01:29:02.500 --> 01:29:05.940
I mean there's I could give you a thousand different what ifs what ifs or maybe this is why

01:29:06.120 --> 01:29:09.720
But the reality is is no matter what the reason why is we should just accept the will of God

01:29:10.040 --> 01:29:14.320
And this is obviously easier said than done. I got it. I want to be gentle about how I obviously say that but

01:29:14.520 --> 01:29:20.800
We just need to realize as Christians. This is true for everything not just people that are barren, but just for any

01:29:21.440 --> 01:29:24.300
Disadvantage that we feel that we have in life or for any ailment that we're

01:29:24.300 --> 01:29:29.180
going through, like think of the Apostle Paul who, you know, he says he goes to the Lord

01:29:29.180 --> 01:29:33.380
three times because he's a thorn in the flesh that he wants to go away and he asks three

01:29:33.380 --> 01:29:35.860
times will you let this go away from me, will you let this go away from me, will you let

01:29:35.860 --> 01:29:38.220
this go away from me and God says no.

01:29:38.600 --> 01:29:43.600
And what is Paul's reaction to that? He says, okay, God, if that's what you want, then that's what you want.

01:29:43.600 --> 01:29:47.600
And he rejoices that he's willing to suffer for the name of Jesus Christ.

01:29:47.600 --> 01:29:56.600
So this way to be and this again, this is easier said than done for things because, you know, it's easy as a married person to say to a single person, well, if God wills for you to be single, that's what you have to accept.

01:29:56.600 --> 01:30:06.600
Okay, that's hard. Okay. Or as a person with kids, it's easier to say to someone that doesn't have kids that like, oh, you know, it might be God's will. I understand this.

01:30:06.600 --> 01:30:09.400
But I want you to understand that this is true though.

01:30:09.400 --> 01:30:10.400
This is the word of God.

01:30:10.400 --> 01:30:11.680
This is what we're going through.

01:30:11.680 --> 01:30:13.120
And these principles really do apply.

01:30:13.120 --> 01:30:16.040
But that's why I have you there in Isaiah 54.1 because here's another reason that he

01:30:16.040 --> 01:30:23.000
says, he says, sing O barren that thou didst not bear, break forth into singing and cry

01:30:23.000 --> 01:30:28.040
aloud thou that didst not travail with child for more are the children of the desolate

01:30:28.040 --> 01:30:31.800
than the children of the married wife, saith the Lord.

01:30:31.800 --> 01:30:33.860
And this is interesting because obviously we know that there's a prophecy that's also

01:30:33.860 --> 01:30:34.600
kind of fulfilled.

01:30:34.600 --> 01:30:39.160
the New Testament, but also like how could this be true? How could it be that a barren woman,

01:30:39.160 --> 01:30:43.880
that a person that's desolate, it says right here, has more children than a woman that is married?

01:30:43.880 --> 01:30:50.120
Here's how, because when you're a single person, he establishes this, that you can do more works for

01:30:50.120 --> 01:30:55.880
God Almighty. And again, this is why it comes down to accepting God's will no matter what it is.

01:30:55.880 --> 01:30:59.560
If that's what God's will is for your life, then that is what you have to accept as a Christian,

01:30:59.560 --> 01:31:02.520
okay? Because go to Titus 1-2, I think this is one of the last places I have you turn.

01:31:02.600 --> 01:31:03.720
Okay, Titus won't do it.

01:31:03.720 --> 01:31:05.120
Yeah, and then we're gonna go back to Samuel

01:31:05.120 --> 01:31:06.200
and then we'll be done there, okay?

01:31:06.200 --> 01:31:07.260
Titus won.

01:31:07.400 --> 01:31:09.960
Verse number two, because another blessing,

01:31:09.960 --> 01:31:10.800
because I always talk about this,

01:31:10.800 --> 01:31:12.320
I always talk about the different pros and cons

01:31:12.320 --> 01:31:13.160
we have in our life.

01:31:13.160 --> 01:31:15.280
Different stages of life have different advantages, okay?

01:31:15.280 --> 01:31:17.720
When you're single, you have all the free time in the world.

01:31:17.720 --> 01:31:19.600
When you're married without children,

01:31:19.600 --> 01:31:23.060
you have the balance of having some free time

01:31:23.060 --> 01:31:25.360
and then some time that you have to be with your spouse,

01:31:25.360 --> 01:31:26.200
whatever.

01:31:26.200 --> 01:31:27.200
And then when you have children,

01:31:27.200 --> 01:31:28.280
it's like all your time's gone

01:31:28.280 --> 01:31:29.560
and you have nothing to do anymore.

01:31:29.560 --> 01:31:32.520
It is like your life is just wrapped around your kids, right?

01:31:32.520 --> 01:31:35.060
But then children are also a blessing.

01:31:35.060 --> 01:31:35.400
So it's like.

01:31:35.400 --> 01:31:39.200
Like everything has pros and cons, everything has advantages and disadvantages.

01:31:39.200 --> 01:31:42.940
So as Christians we need to realize this and this whatever state we're in we need to be

01:31:42.940 --> 01:31:45.220
content is what the Bible tells us though.

01:31:45.220 --> 01:31:50.720
And if you're you know someone that that can't have you know kids Bible teaches us that you

01:31:50.720 --> 01:31:54.280
know there's people like the apostle I mean the possible never had kids not because he

01:31:54.280 --> 01:31:57.780
couldn't have kids he just didn't have a wife he just chose not to have a wife though but

01:31:57.780 --> 01:32:02.640
part of the advantage that he gets in that is that he gets to have many spiritual children

01:32:02.640 --> 01:32:03.280
That's all.

01:32:03.400 --> 01:32:08.600
up the Isaiah 54 one because I think that's how this is fulfilled that it's fulfilled by women

01:32:09.320 --> 01:32:13.880
or yeah that women out there that if maybe you don't have kids or you can't have kids

01:32:13.880 --> 01:32:18.600
or you only have one kid compared to other people it's like you can do more spiritual

01:32:18.600 --> 01:32:23.240
works for God and again is the difference of the of the pros and cons of that like you don't have

01:32:23.240 --> 01:32:28.360
they as many kids but then you have the pro of having more free time and I brought up Paul

01:32:28.360 --> 01:32:31.400
because in Timothy right here it says unto Timothy my own son.

01:32:31.400 --> 01:32:35.240
the faith, grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

01:32:35.240 --> 01:32:39.400
Paul calls Timothy his son in the faith. Obviously they had a pretty decently

01:32:39.400 --> 01:32:44.360
close relationship and Paul had probably many children in the faith because of

01:32:44.360 --> 01:32:48.840
the fact that he has enough free time to go out and preach the gospel and evil. So

01:32:48.840 --> 01:32:52.440
that's one advantage that you should, one thing you should take advantage of okay

01:32:52.440 --> 01:32:58.400
if this is your case okay. Back in 1st Samuel 1 verse number 7, 1st Samuel 1

01:32:58.500 --> 01:33:02.500
Verse number seven. Talk about barren women though. I'd also say this, I know this.

01:33:02.500 --> 01:33:06.820
Just in case anybody doesn't know, when someone is struggling to get pregnant,

01:33:07.780 --> 01:33:13.540
like first of all, I just say this. I say this. Just when people like don't go up and ask people

01:33:13.540 --> 01:33:17.140
like, oh, are you pregnant? Because this is just flipping rude. I don't understand. Like there's

01:33:17.140 --> 01:33:20.420
just like some things that are like, they're not a Bible verse, but just like common sense. I think

01:33:20.420 --> 01:33:23.060
sometimes people just don't get taught these things. But it's like, you don't go up and ask

01:33:23.060 --> 01:33:26.420
a woman how old she is. And you know, another thing you don't ask someone how old she is.

01:33:26.500 --> 01:33:28.620
how much money they earn, that's weird to do that,

01:33:28.620 --> 01:33:29.800
how much they pay for the house,

01:33:29.800 --> 01:33:31.140
it's weird to do these things, okay?

01:33:31.140 --> 01:33:33.100
Unless you're really close with someone.

01:33:33.100 --> 01:33:34.940
Another thing is you don't go up and ask one,

01:33:34.940 --> 01:33:35.760
are you pregnant?

01:33:35.760 --> 01:33:36.980
Because people that are struggling with this,

01:33:36.980 --> 01:33:38.820
it's extremely insensitive to them.

01:33:38.820 --> 01:33:41.540
It's just rude, it's just not nice.

01:33:41.540 --> 01:33:42.980
And I don't think people do that in a bad heart,

01:33:42.980 --> 01:33:44.900
but it's just not something that you should do.

01:33:44.900 --> 01:33:47.420
Just like, you might be curious about how old a woman is,

01:33:47.420 --> 01:33:48.820
but you just don't ask,

01:33:48.820 --> 01:33:50.400
this is not what we do in our society, right?

01:33:50.600 --> 01:33:55.080
verse 7 in 1-7 though it says this it says and he said oh and he did so year by year when she

01:33:55.080 --> 01:34:00.680
went up to the house of the lord so she provoked her therefore uh she wept and did not eat verse

01:34:00.680 --> 01:34:05.480
number eight it says then said oh canna her husband to her hannah why weepest thou and why

01:34:05.480 --> 01:34:10.840
eatest thou not and why is thy heart grieved am i not better to thee than ten sons which is like

01:34:10.840 --> 01:34:15.480
this is probably not the play right here okay i don't know this i don't know he wrote this one

01:34:15.480 --> 01:34:18.600
up it's like this was a fail okay so we're gonna miss I'm like

01:34:18.600 --> 01:34:21.000
It makes me want to say to my wife though the next time she's sad.

01:34:21.000 --> 01:34:23.600
I'd be like, Kylie, am I not better than you, the 10 sons?

01:34:23.600 --> 01:34:24.600
Okay.

01:34:24.600 --> 01:34:28.500
It's just, I think the thing you can actually learn from this though is that, you know,

01:34:28.500 --> 01:34:32.060
when it comes to everyone, but especially women I've found in my life, a lot of times

01:34:32.060 --> 01:34:35.800
when they are sorrowing, when they're going through a hard time, they don't want to hear

01:34:35.800 --> 01:34:39.700
the logical, even though I don't know how logical that one is, okay, but they don't

01:34:39.700 --> 01:34:43.600
want to hear all these like random things about how to fix their problem or anything

01:34:43.600 --> 01:34:44.680
like that.

01:34:44.680 --> 01:34:46.600
they want a lot of time is just for you to comfort them and just

01:34:46.600 --> 01:34:51.760
to be with them and to just go down on their level and be sorrowful with them or to you

01:34:51.760 --> 01:34:57.320
know, just kind of let like to what was I get down and understand their feelings. That's

01:34:57.320 --> 01:35:00.760
what they want. Okay. And the men's and they're like feelings. Okay. But this is what we have

01:35:00.760 --> 01:35:04.520
to do. This is your duty as a man. Okay. To love your wife. Right. Dwelling with her according

01:35:04.520 --> 01:35:05.040
to what

01:35:05.400 --> 01:35:07.400
to know what jazz with Wives teaches us.

01:35:07.400 --> 01:35:13.400
But so this is, this is just, but this is not true just with wives though, it's true with a lot of people.

01:35:13.400 --> 01:35:15.400
Sometimes people have like a bad situation like,

01:35:15.400 --> 01:35:18.400
sometimes you just want to vent about something, you just want to mourn about something

01:35:18.400 --> 01:35:22.400
and someone's coming up to you and just like, trying to tell you all the solutions to your problem, it's like...

01:35:22.500 --> 01:35:25.940
That's not what I want right now. What I want is just for you to be like, oh man, that sucks.

01:35:25.940 --> 01:35:31.300
Or oh man, that's tough. Or man, that's rough. Or whatever. That's sometimes, that's the company

01:35:31.300 --> 01:35:35.060
people want. And this is what the Bible teaches us sometimes as well. It says rejoice within the

01:35:35.060 --> 01:35:40.180
do rejoice and weep with them that weep. And even think that Jesus Christ, it says Jesus wept in the

01:35:40.180 --> 01:35:44.660
Bible, right? So sometimes part of showing love to people is just showing empathy and just showing

01:35:44.660 --> 01:35:48.260
that, reflecting back the same emotions they have. Just let them know that you care about what they're

01:35:48.260 --> 01:35:50.500
they're going through and that you care about what.

01:35:50.500 --> 01:35:54.980
they're dealing with. Okay. Verse number nine, it says, so Hannah rose up after she had eaten

01:35:54.980 --> 01:35:59.940
and Shiloh and after the, uh, they had drunk. Now Eli, the priest sat upon a seat by the

01:35:59.940 --> 01:36:04.820
post of the temple of the Lord and she was in bitterness of soul and prayed unto the

01:36:04.820 --> 01:36:10.140
Lord and wept sore. So clearly right here we see that Hannah is not comforted by her

01:36:10.140 --> 01:36:14.180
husband's, by her husband's, if I'm not better than you, the 10 sons, because she's still

01:36:14.180 --> 01:36:17.940
weeping in business. So she gets up, it's clearly she gets up to kind of just, you know,

01:36:18.400 --> 01:36:22.200
Comfort him in this situation not make him feel bad, but she's still clearly sad about this

01:36:22.200 --> 01:36:28.200
She's weeping in bitterness and soul so again. We should realize that when someone is going through a hard time

01:36:28.960 --> 01:36:33.980
Sometimes giving them the logical answer is not always what they need in that moment not that it can't come later

01:36:33.980 --> 01:36:36.240
Okay, I'm not saying that you should never give someone logic sometimes

01:36:36.240 --> 01:36:41.280
There is a there's a time and a place for everything under the Sun right but sometimes the answer when someone is going through our time

01:36:41.480 --> 01:36:45.960
It like someone loses their job. You don't have to be like well. You know you could just apply for another job

01:36:46.400 --> 01:36:48.680
It's like, yeah, but like my dog now,

01:36:48.680 --> 01:36:50.720
okay, that's what I'm upset about, right?

01:36:50.720 --> 01:36:52.600
Or someone has a member in their family pass away.

01:36:52.600 --> 01:36:54.700
Like obviously there's good things we could do

01:36:54.700 --> 01:36:55.880
to comfort them sometimes being like,

01:36:55.880 --> 01:36:57.160
we'll get to see him again and have him today.

01:36:57.160 --> 01:36:58.380
These things are true.

01:36:58.380 --> 01:37:00.600
But like, especially when things are fresh on people,

01:37:00.600 --> 01:37:02.680
they just want you, they just want to feel

01:37:02.680 --> 01:37:04.440
that you care about them is what I would submit to you

01:37:04.440 --> 01:37:05.480
from these things.

01:37:05.480 --> 01:37:08.520
And this is what we should understand as humans.

01:37:08.520 --> 01:37:11.280
There's a lot of different examples I could use about that.

01:37:11.280 --> 01:37:13.200
Like my dog just died.

01:37:13.200 --> 01:37:14.400
Well, you know, you'll never see.

01:37:14.400 --> 01:37:17.760
your dog again because animals don't go to heaven. Okay, it's like that's probably

01:37:17.760 --> 01:37:20.500
not the play right? Just be like oh man.

01:37:20.600 --> 01:37:24.600
That's tough, okay. That's what you gotta say, okay. But anyways, in summary for this thing,

01:37:24.600 --> 01:37:27.480
okay, we got through 10 verses, but next week we'll get through this whole chapter, okay.

01:37:27.480 --> 01:37:31.240
The point one is that the house of the Lord, I want to point this out to you, is in Shiloh,

01:37:31.240 --> 01:37:35.000
which is, I didn't say this earlier because I forgot to say it, but Shiloh is in Ephraim,

01:37:35.000 --> 01:37:39.320
okay, which is where he's from, which is why they get to visit Samuel very often as we see in this

01:37:39.320 --> 01:37:43.240
story. The second part about this is that in my opinion, I don't think that the multiple wives

01:37:43.240 --> 01:37:48.200
is adultery. I think it's a sin in and of itself, but I don't think the Bible says that it's adultery.

01:37:48.600 --> 01:37:50.600
There's a lot of other things attached to that but...

01:37:51.100 --> 01:37:54.580
Spent a lot of time on that so I won't go into that more and then also the third point

01:37:54.580 --> 01:37:57.460
We should understand that we don't always know what God's will is

01:37:57.460 --> 01:38:01.620
So it is not good for us to assume that we're being punished or that God

01:38:01.940 --> 01:38:08.340
Doesn't love us or favors someone else because they have something better than you or they have something that you don't have or

01:38:08.580 --> 01:38:12.380
they have the ability to do something that you don't get to do like

01:38:12.860 --> 01:38:18.700
the the the mind of the Lord is too high for us to understand and there are probably

01:38:19.100 --> 01:38:24.140
Thousands of reasons for why he does things so you shouldn't just always assume that it's something that you did even the story of job

01:38:24.140 --> 01:38:27.280
It's the same exact thing anybody would look at the story of job

01:38:27.280 --> 01:38:30.900
This is why it's in the Bible for us to realize like just because someone's going through something bad

01:38:30.900 --> 01:38:34.060
That doesn't mean that they're a bad person that in the story of job

01:38:34.060 --> 01:38:37.680
It's like he did he said he's a perfect man an upright man a complete man

01:38:37.680 --> 01:38:42.020
The best man in the East is what it said or the West is it the East or the West?

01:38:42.500 --> 01:38:45.940
the east okay yeah who's the best man the west though that's what we got to figure out okay

01:38:45.940 --> 01:38:51.620
that's uh probably the apocryphers okay uh but then lastly okay point number four is that

01:38:51.620 --> 01:38:53.780
we should come for people that are going through a hard time

01:38:54.200 --> 01:38:58.900
Just have I don't even want to use a word that feels cringe like the emotional intelligence though

01:38:58.900 --> 01:39:04.000
it's like kind of true though like just like learn to deal with people's emotions like people aren't just robots and

01:39:04.160 --> 01:39:06.840
Even if especially this truth, you're not a very emotional person

01:39:06.840 --> 01:39:12.500
You should realize other people do have emotions though other people do go through things and sometimes comfort

01:39:12.800 --> 01:39:14.840
Comforting someone is giving them a logical answer

01:39:14.840 --> 01:39:20.400
But sometimes it is just weeping with them that weep and we're just rejoicing with them that rejoices what though I would teach is

01:39:20.400 --> 01:39:22.200
Okay. So anyways in separate for these things

01:39:22.200 --> 01:39:23.200
Let's pray.

01:39:23.200 --> 01:39:24.200
Hear with the God.

01:39:24.200 --> 01:39:25.200
Thank you so much for this wonderful day.

01:39:25.200 --> 01:39:26.200
Thank you so much for everything you do for us, God.

01:39:26.200 --> 01:39:27.680
Thank you so much for this church, God, and thank you so much for this great time with

01:39:27.680 --> 01:39:28.680
the Bible, God.

01:39:28.680 --> 01:39:31.640
I just pray, God, that my sermon would be edifying to people in this room, and I just

01:39:31.640 --> 01:39:35.560
pray that you'd help us as we go through this Bible study, God, to apply these things to

01:39:35.560 --> 01:39:41.080
our lives, God, and help us to go through these chapters, God, diligently, God, and

01:39:41.080 --> 01:39:43.520
paying attention, God, for the things that you wrote to us.

01:39:43.520 --> 01:39:46.560
And I just pray that you'd be with our church for the rest of the week and help me to preach

01:39:46.560 --> 01:39:47.560
an edifying sermon on Sunday.

01:39:47.560 --> 01:39:50.200
I pray that you'd be with the rest of the song service and help us all get home.

01:39:50.200 --> 01:39:51.800
and save the Jesus we pray, amen.

01:39:59.200 --> 01:40:00.880
All right, if you want to take your hymn rolls,

01:40:00.880 --> 01:40:03.380
we're going to turn to page number 129.

01:40:10.300 --> 01:40:15.300
page number 129, Rock of Ages.

01:40:19.000 --> 01:40:21.000
Sing it out on the first.

01:40:21.900 --> 01:40:30.780
Rock of ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee.

01:40:30.780 --> 01:40:39.500
Let the water and the blood from thy wounded side which flowed

01:40:39.500 --> 01:40:43.820
be of sin the double cure.

01:40:43.820 --> 01:40:48.380
Save from wrath and make me pure.

01:40:48.380 --> 01:40:49.880
Could my tears

01:40:49.900 --> 01:41:02.300
forever flow. Could my zeal no longer know? These four sin could not atone. Thou must

01:41:02.300 --> 01:41:14.500
save and thou alone. In my hand no price I bring, simply to thy cross I cling.

01:41:14.600 --> 01:41:23.600
While I draw this fleeting breath, When my eyes shall close in death,

01:41:23.600 --> 01:41:32.600
When I rise to worlds unknown, And behold thee on thy throne,

01:41:32.600 --> 01:41:41.600
Rock of ages cleft for me, Let me hide myself in thee.

01:41:41.900 --> 01:41:42.900
All right, excellent.

01:41:42.900 --> 01:41:44.900
Everybody brother Paul, would you please close the word of prayer?

01:41:53.300 --> 01:41:53.800
Amen.
