Maybe it's Matthew that they try to make him king it says 26:22.360 --> 26:24.360 But this was not god's will at all at this time 26:24.520 --> 26:29.160 And they might have thought that because the prophecy to the messiah is that he will rule and reign but what they were 26:29.300 --> 26:32.440 Misunderstanding is that he's gonna rule reign the second time he comes back 26:32.520 --> 26:36.440 Not the first time because the messiah to the jews has conflicting 26:37.060 --> 26:40.680 Prophecies because the messiah had to be cut off for his people and pay for their sins 26:40.680 --> 26:42.840 But he also has to rule and reign so you're like 26:43.000 --> 26:43.960 How does this happen? 26:43.960 --> 26:45.800 By Jesus coming the first time, dying for their sins, 26:45.800 --> 26:47.680 rising again from the grave, and then the second time 26:47.680 --> 26:49.440 when he comes, he's gonna rule with a rod of iron, 26:49.440 --> 26:51.080 like we see in Revelation. 26:51.080 --> 26:52.560 So I thought that was pretty interesting. 26:52.560 --> 26:53.820 And then the second thing we talked about was the fact 26:53.820 --> 26:56.480 that Jesus Christ allowed the works of God 26:56.480 --> 26:58.080 to fuel him in his life. 26:58.080 --> 27:00.400 That we see that when the disciples come to offer meat, 27:00.400 --> 27:02.480 even though it says specifically in John, 27:02.480 --> 27:03.500 that they hadn't eaten anything 27:03.500 --> 27:04.520 because they were working so much, 27:04.520 --> 27:06.880 he's like, hey, I got a meat that you know not of. 27:06.880 --> 27:08.600 And what he's really saying there, he's like, hey, 27:08.600 --> 27:10.360 the work of God is gonna be my strength. 27:10.360 --> 27:11.000 He's like. 27:11.000 --> 27:13.200 And I tie that together with Matthew where it says, 27:13.200 --> 27:15.280 blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness 27:15.280 --> 27:16.460 for they should be filled. 27:16.460 --> 27:17.300 To say that like, 27:17.300 --> 27:19.220 this is where we need to get to as Christians, 27:19.220 --> 27:21.120 not where we're just always fasting or anything like that, 27:21.120 --> 27:22.800 but we need to get to the point where that's set up 27:22.800 --> 27:23.640 that it's true of us, 27:23.640 --> 27:26.080 that we're hungering and thirsting after righteousness, 27:26.080 --> 27:27.760 that we're desiring to read our Bible, 27:27.760 --> 27:29.240 we're desiring to pray, 27:29.240 --> 27:30.360 we're desiring to go to church, 27:30.360 --> 27:31.920 we're desiring to go soul winning. 27:31.920 --> 27:33.160 And sometimes people will act like, 27:33.160 --> 27:34.360 oh, that's just impossible. 27:34.360 --> 27:35.200 But it's not though, 27:35.200 --> 27:37.080 because when you're walking in the spirit, 27:37.080 --> 27:39.000 you want to do the things of the spirit. 27:39.000 --> 27:40.680 And that's not to say you're gonna be perfect every day. 27:40.680 --> 27:42.000 Like I kind of clarified last week as well. 27:42.000 --> 27:43.080 That's not true. 27:43.080 --> 27:46.240 But what I am saying is that the more often you make a habit 27:46.240 --> 27:47.160 of walking in the spirit, 27:47.160 --> 27:49.000 the more often you want to do the things 27:49.000 --> 27:50.440 that God tells you to do. 27:50.440 --> 27:52.460 And if you're being spiritually minded, 27:52.460 --> 27:54.720 you'll want to do the things that God wants you to do. 27:54.720 --> 27:56.380 Though sometimes your flesh may hold you back. 27:56.380 --> 27:57.220 But at the end of the day, 27:57.220 --> 27:58.880 this is what I'm trying to say about all that. 27:58.880 --> 28:01.760 It should not just be a fight every single day 28:01.760 --> 28:03.200 when you're a Christian to do the things 28:03.200 --> 28:04.360 that you're supposed to do. 28:04.360 --> 28:04.900 Like... 28:05.000 --> 28:07.400 You shouldn't wake up every single Sunday and be like, 28:07.400 --> 28:09.480 oh, church. 28:09.480 --> 28:11.440 What a terrible attitude that we have 28:11.440 --> 28:13.080 when we have the blessing of church. 28:13.080 --> 28:14.760 And the worst that you're going to get 28:14.760 --> 28:17.160 is sometimes I'm up here stuttering and stammering. 28:17.160 --> 28:18.240 But that's about it. 28:18.240 --> 28:19.400 And maybe you have to be here for an hour. 28:19.400 --> 28:20.960 Maybe that's a little bit harsh sometimes. 28:20.960 --> 28:23.320 But that's about as bad as it gets. 28:23.320 --> 28:25.560 But that's what I was kind of bringing up before, 28:25.560 --> 28:29.040 that when you're thinking about things spiritually, 28:29.040 --> 28:30.920 you should be wanting to grow as a Christian. 28:30.920 --> 28:32.280 You want to learn from church. 28:32.280 --> 28:33.000 You want to learn. 28:33.000 --> 28:37.560 in your Bible reading, you want to be able to go to God and pray and ask for any of your requests, 28:37.560 --> 28:43.480 this is walking in the spirit. So when Jesus Christ says there, you know, I have a work, 28:43.480 --> 28:47.640 I have a meat that you know, that's how I tied these things together. And we should be hungry 28:47.640 --> 28:50.600 and thirsty after breakfast as well. But then the third thing before I get into the sermon is this, 28:50.600 --> 28:53.880 is that I talked about some seemingly contradictory verses. It's too much to explain 28:53.880 --> 28:57.000 for the recap, but I just say this, that when we're reading through the Bible, we need to 28:57.000 --> 29:00.680 understand that the Bible does not contradict itself. And it's always us. 29:01.000 --> 29:05.000 understanding something or not interpreting it right or taking things out of context. 29:05.000 --> 29:08.280 And this morning sermon demonstrated that pretty well. 29:08.280 --> 29:11.480 But with that being said, let's get to the sermon. Verse number one of this, it says, 29:11.480 --> 29:16.280 after this there was a feast of the Jews and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 29:16.280 --> 29:21.320 Now there is a Jerusalem by the sheep market, a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue, 29:21.320 --> 29:27.160 Bethesda, having five porches. So kind of interesting here, the word Bethesda, 29:27.160 --> 29:28.960 If you recognize that pre. 29:29.000 --> 29:33.280 of Beth and you attach it to other words that we know like Beth-el you'll know 29:33.280 --> 29:38.540 that Beth means the house of something so Beth-el is the house of God because 29:38.540 --> 29:43.060 God's name obviously what they call him is Elohim yeah and L is the shortening 29:43.060 --> 29:47.580 of that just like Jehovah the shortening of Jehovah is Jah that's why it says in 29:47.580 --> 29:51.260 Psalms that we're supposed to praise him by his name Jah that's why we have 29:51.260 --> 29:56.320 the phrase that is hallelujah yeah so that's how that that works together but 29:56.320 --> 29:56.960 So Beth... 29:57.000 --> 30:05.280 Bethesda right here is the house of and then the Beth is the house of and then the Ezda 30:05.280 --> 30:06.280 there. 30:06.280 --> 30:09.240 I can't show you this because I'm certainly not a Hebrew expert. 30:09.240 --> 30:10.240 I'm not a Greek expert either. 30:10.240 --> 30:13.280 I just know basic a little bit of Greek but the Hebrew is definitely not on my level at 30:13.280 --> 30:14.280 all. 30:14.280 --> 30:18.360 But I do remember in Vancouver there was a church called Chesed Church and I was like 30:18.360 --> 30:20.000 what does Chesed mean? 30:20.000 --> 30:22.520 And I look at it and it's like oh the Hebrew word for love. 30:22.520 --> 30:24.960 But obviously the chest there is not right here. 30:25.000 --> 30:27.800 But you see that kind of the semblance of the word, the S right here, right? 30:27.800 --> 30:30.240 The Chesed, the Esda, is kind of the thing. 30:30.240 --> 30:31.040 So if you look it up. 30:31.400 --> 30:41.400 Like, and you don't have to take my word for it, you can look it up yourself, but basically the word that, when you put these things together, is basically saying the House of Love, or the House of Mercy, is what Bethesda means. 30:41.400 --> 30:52.400 And it makes sense with what we're going to see in this story, because of the fact that all the people that are living here are a bunch of impotent folk, a bunch of blind folk, a bunch of people that are suffering, so you can see why it would be called the House of Mercy. 30:52.400 --> 30:54.400 Yeah, the House of Love. So that's what that means. 30:54.400 --> 30:57.660 And then the porches there is one to point out that this isn't like a port 30:57.660 --> 30:59.400 I mean, it's kind of like a porch how we think of but it's 30:59.400 --> 31:02.740 not quite you know people playing their banjo on the porch kind of thing like 31:02.740 --> 31:05.700 that it's like it just means like a covered area is what this is talking 31:05.700 --> 31:09.020 about so this place has five covered areas where they're I imagine that 31:09.020 --> 31:11.860 they're sleeping there and doing these things okay anyways the verse number 31:11.860 --> 31:15.420 three of the words as it says in these lay a great multitude of impotent folk 31:15.420 --> 31:20.620 of blind halt withered waiting for the moving of the water for an angel went 31:20.620 --> 31:25.060 down at a certain season into the pool and troubled the water whosoever then 31:25.060 --> 31:27.400 first after the trouble of the water stepped in 31:27.400 --> 31:30.560 was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. 31:30.560 --> 31:34.800 Now, this is amazing to me because every single time, 31:34.800 --> 31:36.200 I tell you, every single time I've ever read through 31:36.200 --> 31:39.000 this chapter, I'm always like, this is so interesting. 31:39.000 --> 31:41.600 It's such a mystery that this is because he never brings 31:41.600 --> 31:43.280 it up ever again in the Bible. 31:43.280 --> 31:45.400 And it's like, I think to myself all the time, 31:45.400 --> 31:47.280 like, when did this start? 31:47.280 --> 31:48.360 When did this end? 31:48.360 --> 31:51.120 And like, why is it just the first person that gets healed? 31:51.120 --> 31:52.440 Like, I was just like, all these different things 31:52.440 --> 31:54.680 like go through my mind, but God kind of leaves us 31:54.680 --> 31:55.400 on a cliffhanger like. 31:55.400 --> 31:57.000 He never brings it up again. 31:57.000 --> 31:59.440 There's a lot of things that are like this in the Bible. 31:59.440 --> 32:02.880 When the Bible says that when Jesus Christ is crucified, 32:02.880 --> 32:04.520 he's like, yeah, there was people that just rose 32:04.520 --> 32:06.000 from the grave when that happened. 32:06.000 --> 32:08.000 And he just moved past it, doesn't bring it up again. 32:08.000 --> 32:10.400 You're like, what? 32:10.400 --> 32:13.160 But I was trying to think why God does this. 32:13.160 --> 32:15.960 And I think that there's multiple reasons why God does this. 32:15.960 --> 32:18.640 I think that the first one is because, 32:18.640 --> 32:21.100 as I kind of discussed before with the other miracles, 32:21.200 --> 32:25.760 There's cool things like this that help us to grasp on to the miracles and the stories in the Bible 32:25.800 --> 32:27.800 Like I brought up to you like the healing of the blind man 32:27.960 --> 32:30.740 Jesus Christ heals many blind people in the Bible 32:30.740 --> 32:34.520 But the story I always remember the most is the one where he spits and makes the clay and anoints his eyes with it 32:34.520 --> 32:39.720 And I think that he does this to kind of differentiate the different miracles that he does because they all kind of blend together 32:39.880 --> 32:45.400 They can blend together, but then you see these stories like even like blind Bartimaeus to like when he's crying on the road 32:45.400 --> 32:49.100 He's like Jesus son of David have mercy on me. It just sticks in your brain 32:49.200 --> 32:55.200 So I think that that's why he does that. Another reason I think is that it compels us to want to read the Bible and study these things out. 32:55.200 --> 33:04.200 Because if you try to study this out, I'll give you the hint you'll never find this answer here, but at least in the attempt of trying to study it out you learn some things from the Bible at the very least. 33:04.200 --> 33:17.200 But I also think the third reason, the most likely reason is that it helps to spark our imagination and to get us to realize that there's a whole world, there's a whole realm out there that we have no concept of, no idea of, besides the fact that 33:17.200 --> 33:20.160 there's a spiritual realm that angels and demons are in. 33:20.160 --> 33:23.200 And so I think that he brings us up to kind of remind us 33:23.200 --> 33:26.720 that there's a whole world out there unseen 33:26.720 --> 33:29.320 that we don't even know half of anything about. 33:29.320 --> 33:30.360 It's pretty crazy. 33:30.360 --> 33:33.760 So I think that that could be definitely part of this as well. 33:33.760 --> 33:36.120 Go to Deuteronomy 29, verse number 29. 33:36.500 --> 33:40.500 because we see in the Bible all over there's spiritual warfare and we see a little bit of 33:40.500 --> 33:47.940 insight into this in the book of Daniel where the prince of Persia is fighting with Gabriel or 33:47.940 --> 33:51.780 Michael I'm forgetting blending the angels right now but they're fighting together and we just kind 33:51.780 --> 33:57.780 of see like there's a constant spiritual warfare in the Bible or even with Elisha when he has 33:57.780 --> 34:01.860 the city surrounded by people and he's like hey there's more of us and there's of them and then 34:01.860 --> 34:04.500 And then like he, you know, says the word. 34:04.500 --> 34:08.700 and then the guy that's with him that's panicking can see all the angels around them. 34:08.700 --> 34:15.800 So we just there's I think God put this in as well to help us to realize these things that it's not just 34:16.140 --> 34:20.080 this world that we obviously that we only live in this world 34:20.080 --> 34:25.020 but there's another world we have to consider when it comes to spiritual warfare as well and things that prove that 34:25.440 --> 34:32.420 that the things of the Bible are real but in Deuteronomy 29 verse number 29 says this it says the secret things belong 34:32.500 --> 34:36.780 unto the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to 34:36.780 --> 34:40.900 our children forever that we may do all the words of this law." So sometimes at 34:40.900 --> 34:42.940 the end of studying when you can't figure something out you just need to realize 34:42.940 --> 34:46.100 the secret things belong unto the Lord our God. There's just some mysteries in 34:46.100 --> 34:48.100 the Bible that he doesn't tell us about and then we probably won't be able to 34:48.100 --> 34:51.220 figure out and maybe he does this so that we have something to ask him about 34:51.220 --> 34:54.140 multiple things asked about when we get to heaven. Like what was up with the 34:54.140 --> 34:57.500 little horn or you know? I guess we'll know the two witnesses at that time 34:57.500 --> 35:00.420 but just like little mysteries like this that it'll be exciting one day to get to 35:00.420 --> 35:00.500 I'm gonna have to go to the bathroom. 35:00.500 --> 35:04.500 and ask and figure out all these different kind of amazing things. 35:04.900 --> 35:07.140 verse number five though, look what it says, it says, 35:07.140 --> 35:09.100 and a certain man was there, 35:09.100 --> 35:11.620 which had an infirmity 30 and eight years. 35:11.620 --> 35:12.940 So this is an elderly man 35:12.940 --> 35:14.940 that we're talking about in this story, okay? 35:14.940 --> 35:17.060 Verse number six, you guys, okay, thank you. 35:17.060 --> 35:18.340 I was like, come on now. 35:18.340 --> 35:21.260 The 38 years old, the elderly man, come on now, come on. 35:21.260 --> 35:22.580 You guys are too close to that age, okay? 35:22.580 --> 35:23.940 I'm hurting your feelings. 35:23.940 --> 35:25.180 Verse number six though, it says, 35:25.180 --> 35:29.060 when Jesus saw him lie and knew that he had been now 35:29.060 --> 35:31.780 a long time in that case, he saith unto him, 35:31.780 --> 35:32.900 wilt thou be made whole? 35:32.900 --> 35:34.900 the impotent man answered him, 35:34.900 --> 35:38.060 sir, I have no man when the water is troubled 35:38.060 --> 35:39.320 to put me into the pool. 35:39.320 --> 35:43.100 But while I am coming, another stepeth down before me. 35:43.100 --> 35:46.380 Jesus said unto him, rise, take up thy bed and walk. 35:46.380 --> 35:48.180 And immediately the man was made whole 35:48.180 --> 35:52.740 and took up his bed and walked on the same day was the, 35:52.740 --> 35:55.420 or excuse me, and on the same day was the Sabbath. 35:55.420 --> 35:58.220 So we have a beautiful story right here that this man. 35:58.400 --> 36:02.720 that this water is moving like this as the angel comes down and whoever gets in there first gets 36:02.720 --> 36:06.880 healed but this man can't get to the water first because he's impotent is what the bible is 36:06.880 --> 36:11.440 teaching us which means that he can't walk right that he can't that he isn't able to get himself 36:11.440 --> 36:15.600 down the water so he's kind of struggling maybe when he hears the water is going but he can't 36:15.600 --> 36:22.080 actually get down to the water he says because he has no one there to help him so not only is he 36:22.080 --> 36:25.680 impotent but he doesn't have anybody that he can rely on he doesn't have anybody that can actually 36:25.680 --> 36:26.320 carry him down. 36:26.400 --> 36:30.880 to the water. So he's alone and he's impotent. And I think that what God is 36:30.880 --> 36:33.600 trying to show us and what we should grab from the first thing in this story 36:33.600 --> 36:38.040 is this, is that even when we feel alone, even when we feel like we don't have 36:38.040 --> 36:41.920 anybody, Jesus Christ still cares about us and God still cares about us and that 36:41.920 --> 36:44.760 should comfort us at the end of the day. And Jesus Christ demonstrates that in 36:44.760 --> 36:48.360 this story here because though this man had nobody else, you know who he did have, 36:48.360 --> 36:52.200 he had Jesus Christ that thought about him. And Jesus Christ goes up to 36:52.200 --> 36:54.400 this man. A lot of times it's different. A lot of times it's 36:54.400 --> 36:58.960 It's someone seeking out Jesus, but Jesus goes to him in this story and just says, 36:58.960 --> 37:01.600 will thou be made whole? He doesn't even, he doesn't even, 37:01.640 --> 37:03.080 he's not even the man that approaches him first. 37:03.080 --> 37:06.240 It's Jesus that approaches this man. He's like, how can I? And he's like, 37:06.400 --> 37:09.640 here's how behold, take up by bed and walk. It's really beautiful. 37:09.640 --> 37:14.560 Like it demonstrates that even those of us that we forget about as a society 37:14.760 --> 37:16.440 and their disadvantage in our society, 37:16.480 --> 37:20.400 guess what God doesn't forget about them because he says even the very hairs of 37:20.400 --> 37:22.400 our head are numbered. So that should come. 37:22.400 --> 37:27.480 us as Christians to know that even when even if we if we really were alone in 37:27.480 --> 37:30.640 this world we lost all of our friends we lost all of our family God is still 37:30.640 --> 37:34.160 with us and God still thinks about us and Hebrews 13 5 it says let your 37:34.160 --> 37:37.720 conversation be without covetousness and be content with such things do you have 37:37.720 --> 37:41.360 for he has said I will never leave the ignore forsaken so these things should 37:41.360 --> 37:45.680 comfort us and Jesus Christ out of his love in this story goes to this man and 37:45.680 --> 37:50.120 heals him that should show us that he thinks of even of the least of us that 37:50.120 --> 37:50.400 that are up. 37:50.400 --> 37:54.500 they're out there okay John 5 verse number 10 it says the Jews therefore 37:54.500 --> 37:58.860 said to him that was cured is it this or it is the Sabbath date is not law for 37:58.860 --> 38:03.820 thee to carry thy bed go to Leviticus 20 verse number 7 because here the thing 38:03.820 --> 38:06.820 about this they're wrong about this just straight up they're wrong about this 38:06.820 --> 38:11.140 okay it is not against the Sabbath to take up your bed and to walk okay because 38:11.140 --> 38:14.540 sometimes people get confused about the Sabbath and they think like oh it's just 38:14.540 --> 38:17.380 doing anything they do like what the Calvinists do about salvation they think 38:17.380 --> 38:18.400 like any verb 38:18.400 --> 38:21.800 equals a work. So they're like you're breathing on the Sabbath, you're working 38:21.800 --> 38:26.560 brother. It's like all right you believed on Jesus Christ, oh that's works. It's 38:26.560 --> 38:29.840 like no that's the opposite of works you dummy. But this is kind of the same thing 38:29.840 --> 38:33.680 here that they think that any action on the Sabbath day is a work but this is 38:33.680 --> 38:36.640 simply not true because he tells us in Leviticus 23 verse number seven it says 38:36.640 --> 38:42.240 in the first day you shall have a holy convocation you shall do no servile work 38:42.240 --> 38:46.400 therein. It's not just any kind of work it's servile work that he's talking about. 38:46.400 --> 38:50.000 about and what kind of work is that? That's like gathering food like we're 38:50.000 --> 38:54.080 gathering sticks we saw for something kindling a fire selling things on the 38:54.080 --> 38:59.200 Sabbath you know doing a little real you know physical labor kind of job these 38:59.200 --> 39:03.080 are works but taking up your bed if you just got healed and walking back to your 39:03.080 --> 39:07.040 house that is not doing work on the Sabbath and we know this because Jesus 39:07.040 --> 39:10.200 Christ commanded him to do this in this story. 39:10.500 --> 39:12.660 And so look what it says on the verse number 10. It says, 39:32.660 --> 39:36.180 So here's another thing, interesting thing I'd point out with this story is that this man 39:36.820 --> 39:38.420 doesn't know who Jesus Christ is. 39:38.500 --> 39:42.000 even is. That's why I kind of highlighted you earlier that Jesus goes out of his way 39:42.000 --> 39:47.660 to heal this man even without him seeking him first. Now, I guess you could say it's 39:47.660 --> 39:51.180 debatable whether this man already just believed in God by chance, okay, because he is waiting 39:51.180 --> 39:55.100 for the pull for the angel to move. But nevertheless, I think a picture that we should grab from 39:55.100 --> 40:01.580 the story is that God is merciful to both the saved and to the unsaved alike. Go to 40:01.580 --> 40:03.420 Matthew 5 verse number 44. 40:03.420 --> 40:04.380 We see this in the Bible, 40:04.380 --> 40:06.500 Matthew 5 verse number. 40:06.500 --> 40:11.180 44 because this man doesn't know who even healed him in this story and he 40:11.180 --> 40:13.620 doesn't do Jesus Christ doesn't do here what he does a lot of times where he's like if 40:13.620 --> 40:16.820 you have faith I'll heal you he just immediately says hey take up your bed 40:16.820 --> 40:21.200 and walk so it makes me believe that potentially this man wasn't saved he 40:21.200 --> 40:23.300 could have already believed under Jesus Christ okay but 40:23.500 --> 40:30.500 Either way this works out for the story, but I just say that I think there's a picture that God is merciful to people that are unsaved and he's merciful to people that are saved as well. 40:30.500 --> 40:32.500 We see this in Matthew 5, 44 it says, 40:32.500 --> 40:41.500 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, 40:41.500 --> 40:51.500 That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven, for he maketh his Son to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the 40:51.500 --> 41:19.420 unjust. So notice here that God isn't just like if he wanted to in this universe, he could just make the Son only come up for us and he could only send us rain as Christians, but that's not what he does because he's merciful to everybody. And the Bible commands us to be the same way right here. And so obviously, this is a general statement, we should understand these things. But generally in your life, whether you're dealing with someone who's unsaved or saved, you should be merciful to them, you should be kind to them, you should show them the love of God. 41:19.500 --> 41:22.540 so that we can be like our Father in Heaven. That's what he says, right? 41:22.860 --> 41:25.740 Obviously people could take this in twices to be things that are contrary to the Bible. 41:25.740 --> 41:26.540 I understand that. 41:26.540 --> 41:29.340 But what I'm telling you right now is that this is a general statement, isn't it? 41:29.420 --> 41:33.340 He's like generally this is what he's talking about. He's sending rain on the just and on the unjust. 41:33.340 --> 41:36.780 So he says go and do the same thing. And it's like that in the story with the 41:37.420 --> 41:42.780 the the Samaritan with the neighbor, right? As well that he's like the guy asked him who is my neighbor and he's like hey, 41:43.100 --> 41:47.500 there's the priest, there's the Levi and there's the Samaritan and the Samaritan is the one who helped 41:47.500 --> 41:52.300 the guy on the side of the road that's bleeding and dying. It's like no your default setting should be to help people. It does matter though. In the sight of God, it matters. So it's interesting to see. That's that's just logical because even if he won't throw you into hell because he promised not to like we established in my sermon this morning, he can still do a lot of other things to bring the hammer down on your life. 44:45.200 --> 44:48.040 And so unsaved and saved alike, we should all fear God. 44:48.040 --> 44:49.400 Because obviously the unsaved, 44:49.400 --> 44:51.600 they don't have to fear the chastening. 44:51.600 --> 44:52.800 They don't get chastening from God. 44:52.800 --> 44:53.200 They just get. 44:53.200 --> 44:57.280 They just get damnation they get condemnation, but we're not in the same boat as them 44:57.280 --> 45:02.160 But nevertheless the beginning of wisdom the Bible says is to fear Lord fear the Lord and depart from evil 45:02.280 --> 45:08.380 So we should fear God so don't let anybody convince you that you should not fear God. This is garbage 45:08.380 --> 45:13.520 This is heresy is I want to understand there's so many people don't want to make things so cutesy in Christianity like 45:15.720 --> 45:21.080 Just highly reverence him no fear God is what the Bible says we should be terrified 45:21.200 --> 45:26.400 of God when we do evil because he is the living God. He says it's a fearful thing 45:26.400 --> 45:29.680 to fall into the hands of a living God. And when it says in the Bible that 45:29.680 --> 45:33.180 when you know God's will and you don't do it, he'll beat you with many 45:33.180 --> 45:35.640 stripes. And when you don't know his will and you don't do it, you'll get beat with 45:35.640 --> 45:38.960 few. Since we all know what the Bible teaches us and many commandments in the 45:38.960 --> 45:43.020 Bible, we should fear God even more because we don't have an excuse. It says, 46:55.800 --> 47:05.400 The main department told the Jews that it was Jesus which had made him whole and therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus and sought to slay him because he had just done such a wicked thing. 47:05.400 --> 47:09.480 Like what did he do? It says because he had done these things on the Sabbath day. 47:09.480 --> 47:15.040 I mean imagine, imagine healing someone by the power of the Holy Ghost on the Sabbath day. 47:15.040 --> 47:18.680 They're like, oh, we got to put this guy to death immediately. 47:18.680 --> 47:20.240 What a stupid mindset though. 47:20.240 --> 47:23.800 Like even at the most extreme, like wouldn't you think in this situation? 47:23.800 --> 47:28.280 like with Jesus Christ that you'd like look at his his his actions would be 47:28.280 --> 47:34.520 like man if if this guy is doing a miracle on the Sabbath day perhaps God 47:34.520 --> 47:38.640 allowed him to do this miracle on the Sabbath day isn't it so crazy like this 47:38.640 --> 47:41.480 is what happens when you're blinded though but this is why that's why because 47:41.480 --> 47:44.760 this has been a kind of a prevailing theme in John lately that when we focus 47:44.760 --> 47:48.040 on just the carnal things we miss the spiritual things right and what are they 47:48.040 --> 47:51.240 focused on here they're focused on the carnal ordinance of the Sabbath they're 47:51.240 --> 47:51.800 not focused. 47:51.800 --> 47:56.280 on what's really going on here, which is that a miracle, which is something that they've 47:56.280 --> 48:00.160 never seen before in their entire lives, a great miracle was performed here. 48:00.160 --> 48:03.320 That he told a man that was able to take up thy bed and walk. 48:03.320 --> 48:08.080 It's, it's, and they're just so wrapped up on the Sabbath though, that they can't see 48:08.080 --> 48:11.640 that it's by the power of God that this was done though. 48:11.640 --> 48:15.800 And so what I think we should learn from these things is that we need to have righteous judgment 48:15.800 --> 48:16.920 as Christians. 48:16.920 --> 48:19.800 We shouldn't just go with what a crowd says. 48:19.800 --> 48:22.560 and follow a multitude to do evil like the Bible says, 48:22.560 --> 48:23.600 we should have righteous judgment. 48:23.600 --> 48:24.560 And what does that mean? 48:24.560 --> 48:26.800 It means when you look at a situation and you judge it, 48:26.800 --> 48:29.100 you don't judge it like a respecter of persons. 48:29.100 --> 48:31.240 You don't judge it with a preconceived idea. 48:31.240 --> 48:33.040 You don't just judge it with a bias 48:33.040 --> 48:36.400 and with what the crowd of people mostly say. 48:36.400 --> 48:38.200 You should look at a situation objectively 48:38.200 --> 48:39.880 and be like, these are the facts, 48:39.880 --> 48:41.240 and this is what's righteous 48:41.240 --> 48:42.480 according to the word of God or not. 48:42.480 --> 48:44.000 That's having righteous judgment. 48:44.000 --> 48:45.280 And if the Jews would have stopped for a second 48:45.280 --> 48:47.360 and thought about this, this is what they would have done. 48:47.360 --> 48:47.800 Then like... 48:47.800 --> 48:51.160 man, it is interesting because the Bible obviously on the Sabbath they're not supposed to work, 48:51.160 --> 48:53.320 but they don't even understand the Sabbath at all. 48:53.320 --> 48:57.160 And this is amazing too because he doesn't point this out here, but he points out a different 48:57.160 --> 49:01.160 story in the gospel that it's like they understood that there was loopholes if you would in the 49:01.160 --> 49:04.880 Sabbath that they could go pull the ox out of a ditch if it fell in there. 49:04.880 --> 49:09.580 But then with a man that's healed miraculously by the power of God, they're like, can't make 49:09.580 --> 49:10.580 an exception for that. 49:10.580 --> 49:11.880 Isn't that convenient though? 49:11.880 --> 49:15.040 When it benefits them, they can make an exception for it, but when it's someone else, it's being 49:15.040 --> 49:15.540 benefit. 49:15.800 --> 49:19.740 benefited by it. A great miracle is done when this man can pick up his bed and walk and 49:19.740 --> 49:20.060 they're like... 49:20.500 --> 49:23.420 That's wicked. We got to put this guy to death. It's unbelievable 49:23.420 --> 49:25.260 But if they would have had righteous judgment in the situation 49:25.260 --> 49:28.540 They'd have realized that this was the Messiah that was doing these things 49:28.540 --> 49:33.780 It was but the power of God that was doing these things and they go into such madness later on that you see 49:33.980 --> 49:40.860 That they they accused Jesus Christ of doing his miracles by Beelzebub the the the prince of the devil's right? 49:40.860 --> 49:44.100 It's like what an insane thing that these these people are so blind 49:44.820 --> 49:48.420 but even if they wouldn't have got the right judgment if they would have just 49:48.500 --> 49:51.500 done even a somewhat reasonable thing and just been like, hey... 49:51.700 --> 49:55.860 this is pretty notable work that Jesus Christ just did. Let's just kind of sit back and watch and see 49:55.860 --> 50:00.740 what goes on with him. They could have maybe came to the truth, but instead they immediately try to 50:00.740 --> 50:05.380 condemn him because they're unrighteous. That's why. And so as a side note to this, I would say 50:05.380 --> 50:10.340 that it's carnal people that want to destroy the work of God. It's carnal people that look at someone 50:10.340 --> 50:14.500 else doing a good work and are jealous of it and want to destroy it and want to cause havoc to it. 50:14.500 --> 50:19.460 And that's why like as a church, you know, I want to just focus on what we do as a church and 50:19.700 --> 50:27.000 I don't want to be obsessed in going out and going and waging some kind of holy war on people and trying to like take people down or do whatever. 50:27.000 --> 50:29.300 I just want to work on the work of God here in Spokane. 50:29.300 --> 50:31.000 And that's what I want everybody's mind to be on. 50:31.000 --> 50:37.100 I want everybody to be like, hey, like, like I don't want to, I don't want to get involved in drama that's going to hinder the work of God. 50:37.100 --> 50:41.000 I just want to do the work of God because there's so much of it out there. 50:41.000 --> 50:45.000 If Christians just fighting with each other and trying to tear each other apart and just going tit for tat with each other. 50:45.000 --> 50:47.600 but it's like the last time I checked the Bible, it doesn't 50:47.700 --> 50:50.740 that we wrestle with our saved brothers and sisters in Christ. It doesn't say that we 50:50.740 --> 50:54.980 wrestle with, you know, just the average saved person out there. It says we wrestle against 50:54.980 --> 50:59.300 what? Not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the 50:59.300 --> 51:03.860 rulers of darkness, against principalities. These are the things that we wrestle against, 51:03.860 --> 51:09.380 not our saved brethren, okay? So I think that we should learn from these things that as Christians, 51:09.380 --> 51:15.540 we need to focus on fighting the workers of darkness and not our own brothers and 51:15.700 --> 51:19.900 sisters in Christ. Like goodness sakes, like let God handle things as he wants 51:19.900 --> 51:23.380 to handle him because he says that he's the judge and it's in, I'm gonna show you 51:23.380 --> 51:27.220 this later, but in Romans it says that we all will stand before the judgment 51:27.220 --> 51:31.660 seat of Christ. Every one of us will, so let Christ do the judging and let us 51:31.660 --> 51:36.500 focus on not tearing each other down but tearing down the rulers of this world 51:36.500 --> 51:40.340 down, right? Tearing down the darkness down, tearing down the the armies of 51:40.340 --> 51:43.700 Satan down. They did though, okay? Because look at it says in 1 Thessalonians 2 14, 53:51.160 --> 53:55.960 this is the Bible that says this. It says, for ye brethren became followers of the churches of God, 53:55.960 --> 54:00.920 which is in Judea, which in Judea are in Christ Jesus. Good night. For ye also have suffered like 54:00.920 --> 54:06.040 things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews who both killed the Lord Jesus and 54:06.040 --> 54:12.520 their own prophets and have persecuted us and they please not God and are contrary to all men. 54:12.600 --> 54:18.080 Who does it say that killed the Lord Jesus right there the Jews did okay? Okay, we as I was discussing my morning sermon as well, the Bible says 55:39.920 --> 55:43.780 that if they will believe on Jesus Christ, the veil will be taken away and they'll be 55:43.780 --> 55:47.840 reattached to that tree. Though they're broken off right now, they can be reattached and 55:47.840 --> 55:51.700 Jesus Christ will have mercy on them. He's still willing to have mercy on them till this 55:51.700 --> 55:55.280 day. But you know how they get that mercy, they have to believe on Jesus Christ as their 55:55.280 --> 55:56.760 Messiah. So it's not, we don't have to worry about these things. That's what we should really be concerned about. Okay. But back to the 01:00:55.680 --> 01:00:57.600 sermon itself, it says, 01:00:57.800 --> 01:01:02.800 with these verses that Jesus Christ, how is it that Jesus Christ is judging people? 01:01:02.800 --> 01:01:08.800 Because we know that at the end of time, the great white throne judgment is God the Father that judges things. 01:01:08.800 --> 01:01:14.800 So how do these verses work together? Well, if you kind of remember in 1 Corinthians, we established what happens here. 01:01:14.800 --> 01:01:22.800 That Jesus Christ, basically all the way up until the end of the battle of Gog and Magog, is going to rule and reign on this earth. 01:01:22.800 --> 01:01:25.800 earth and the Bible said in first Corinthians 15 that he is to 01:01:25.800 --> 01:01:27.760 subdue everything under his feet, right? 01:01:27.760 --> 01:01:29.940 So up until that point, he's ruling with a rod of iron. 01:01:29.940 --> 01:01:32.180 He's judging everybody on the earth. 01:01:32.180 --> 01:01:34.120 But then at the very end of time, 01:01:34.120 --> 01:01:36.440 it says that he gives all dominion and power 01:01:36.440 --> 01:01:37.960 over to the Father, right? 01:01:37.960 --> 01:01:39.640 And that happens if you kind of look at the things 01:01:39.640 --> 01:01:42.640 in the Bible, that point would be right 01:01:42.640 --> 01:01:44.860 at the great white throne of judgment. 01:01:44.860 --> 01:01:46.200 So that's how these things are working. 01:01:46.200 --> 01:01:47.720 So it's not saying necessarily that Jesus Christ 01:01:47.720 --> 01:01:48.560 is gonna be the one who's judging 01:01:48.560 --> 01:01:49.380 at the great white throne of judgment. 01:01:49.380 --> 01:01:51.720 It's just saying that Jesus Christ is gonna be 01:01:51.720 --> 01:01:53.800 judging all things up until. 01:01:53.800 --> 01:01:58.600 that point. And why does God give judgment to the Son? He tells us in verse 23, he says that all 01:01:58.600 --> 01:02:03.560 men should honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son, honors not 01:02:03.560 --> 01:02:08.520 the Father, which hath sent him. Which is very reminiscent of the verses, right? That if you don't 01:02:08.520 --> 01:02:13.960 have a son, you don't have a father also. And why is that? Because the Trinity is true, that's why. 01:02:13.960 --> 01:02:17.880 So if you're dishonoring Jesus Christ, you're dishonoring God the Father. If you're dishonoring 01:02:17.880 --> 01:02:21.800 the Holy Ghost, you're dishonoring the entire trinity of God, right? itself brings up obviously it wants to hammer this home that this is a pretty important 01:03:57.940 --> 01:04:01.700 thing right that it's like hey Jesus Christ says again for the 01:04:01.700 --> 01:04:04.940 umpteenth time just to make it super clear to everybody because the book of 01:04:04.940 --> 01:04:09.180 John was written so that people would read it and believe he's like if you 01:04:09.260 --> 01:04:14.260 hear my word and believe on him that sent me he says you have everlasting 01:04:14.260 --> 01:04:18.580 life you have it right now you have everlasting life he says and you shall 01:04:18.580 --> 01:04:21.820 not kind of condemnation but his past from death in the life which means 01:04:21.980 --> 01:04:24.700 because Jesus Christ says as I established his morning earlier with God 01:04:24.700 --> 01:04:29.700 that wicked the fact that he cannot lie that means that this is 100% true it's 01:04:29.700 --> 01:04:32.760 guaranteed to be true that if we believe on
