WEBVTT

16:27.200 --> 16:29.680
Good morning, welcome to Steadfast Baptist Church.

16:29.680 --> 16:31.520
Good to see you this morning, thank you for coming.

16:32.480 --> 16:36.400
Let's grab our seats and open up our hymn books, page 185.

16:36.400 --> 16:42.240
We're going to start off with my Savior's love this morning, page 185.

16:45.200 --> 16:47.200
My Savior's love.

16:50.600 --> 16:56.440
page 185. Let's all sing it out to the Lord this morning on that verse.

16:56.440 --> 17:04.500
I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus as a

17:33.100 --> 17:38.100
Good job this morning, page 185, My Savior's Love, on the second.

17:38.100 --> 17:45.100
For me it was in the garden, he prayed not my will but my will.

17:51.600 --> 17:54.120
But sweat drops are blood for

19:32.200 --> 19:33.420
Great singing everyone.

19:33.420 --> 19:35.820
Let's open up this morning with a word of prayer.

19:35.820 --> 19:37.460
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much

19:37.460 --> 19:39.460
for another day in your house, Lord.

19:39.460 --> 19:41.500
We thank you for the opportunity to be here

19:41.500 --> 19:43.660
to worship you and to sing.

19:43.660 --> 19:45.580
Please fill us all with your Holy Spirit

19:45.580 --> 19:47.920
as we listen and hear the word of God preach to us

19:47.920 --> 19:48.920
this morning.

19:48.920 --> 19:51.460
Pray that you would fill Pastor Sho with your Holy Spirit.

19:51.460 --> 19:54.440
Build us up and edify us as your people this morning.

19:54.440 --> 19:55.280
We love you so much.

19:55.280 --> 19:56.800
In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

19:57.100 --> 20:00.100
Page 162 will be your next song.

20:00.100 --> 20:02.100
To God be the glory.

20:02.100 --> 20:05.100
Page 162.

20:09.800 --> 20:12.800
To God be the glory, page 162.

20:17.900 --> 20:20.560
Let's all sing it out together on that verse.

20:20.560 --> 20:27.540
To God be the glory, great things He hath done.

20:27.540 --> 20:28.400
So let us sing.

23:09.700 --> 23:13.960
Thank you for coming to said fast Baptist Church if you need a bulletin just lift up your hand nice and high one of our ushers

23:13.960 --> 23:16.540
Can come by and get you guys a bulletin on the front

23:16.540 --> 23:22.100
We have our Bible memory passage Philippians chapter 4 and if you can quote the entire chapter you can receive a prize

23:22.380 --> 23:25.680
We also have inside our service times. We have

23:26.200 --> 23:32.160
Church this evening at 430 we have a Wednesday night Bible study at 7 and we had our Spanish service already at 9 a.m

23:32.720 --> 23:36.960
We have churchwide soul winning meets here at the building and then regional times that meet throughout

23:37.700 --> 23:38.980
the Dallas Fort Worth area.

23:38.980 --> 23:41.420
You just see one of the respective leaders there.

23:41.420 --> 23:43.860
We even have a couple different ladies times.

23:43.860 --> 23:45.340
And there is a ladies group chat.

23:45.340 --> 23:48.460
So if you're interested in that, you can always ask my wife

23:48.460 --> 23:50.180
or some of the ladies.

23:50.180 --> 23:53.540
Miss Lucy also helps lead one of the ladies times.

23:53.900 --> 23:55.860
Down below is our church stats for the year.

23:55.860 --> 23:57.880
We've done really good on our soul winning,

23:57.880 --> 24:00.740
and we wanna continue for the end of the year.

24:00.740 --> 24:03.000
On the right is several ladies you can be in prayer for.

24:03.000 --> 24:05.880
Please be in prayer for their pregnancy.

24:05.880 --> 24:08.600
Down below, again, if you are coming on Sunday morning

24:08.600 --> 24:10.640
and our parking lot is filled,

24:10.640 --> 24:13.560
you can use this back lot right over here across the street.

24:13.560 --> 24:15.980
Just please be respectful of using that area.

24:15.980 --> 24:18.340
Upcoming events, our Heritage of the Lords Conference

24:18.340 --> 24:21.900
is gonna be coming up pretty soon, October 9th.

24:21.900 --> 24:28.900
the 11th. And so we do have a insert in the bulletin that has this kind of a little bit

24:28.900 --> 24:35.680
of a schedule there. So that way you can plan accordingly. But we do have a morning activity

24:35.680 --> 24:41.580
there on Friday and then the evening service with Pastor Russell at seven. We also have

24:41.580 --> 24:47.740
a spelling bee at nine 30 on Saturday. We have our we have a park that we're going to

24:47.740 --> 24:49.900
be doing just kind of a fellowship.

24:49.900 --> 24:54.260
opportunity on Saturday. So if you'd like to come out have lunch with us and

24:54.260 --> 24:59.420
just have some fellowship and then Sunday morning I'll be preaching I'll

24:59.420 --> 25:02.700
be preaching both services so we'll still have kind of a normal schedule.

25:03.400 --> 25:10.280
We'll have an area kind of in our fellowship area as far as just registering again and

25:10.280 --> 25:13.860
we'll be handing out just a few good, like a few giveaways.

25:13.860 --> 25:17.960
And then any visitors that come, we're going to have a lot of our like shirts and extra

25:17.960 --> 25:22.000
merchandise and we'd like to give our visitors like a shirt or something like that.

25:22.000 --> 25:25.560
Just some of the things that we have from all of our conferences left over or whatever.

25:25.560 --> 25:31.400
We'd like to just be really hospitable to and generous to our

25:31.400 --> 25:37.340
guests and visitors that come for the conference. So we do possibly need a few volunteers for

25:37.340 --> 25:41.940
a few different things. So if people want to help with, you know, just welcoming people

25:41.940 --> 25:47.540
for our, you know, kind of our events in our conference, as well as our Saturday activities,

25:47.540 --> 25:54.360
advantageous for put a note in the group chat. So if people want to just help with just cooking

25:54.360 --> 25:59.340
or serving a little bit on that Saturday, as well as some of our services, we would

25:59.400 --> 26:06.960
love that. Just see Evangelist Fur and he can mark you down to do those things. If you

26:06.960 --> 26:13.080
are planning on attending the Friday morning activity, there is something to fill out there

26:13.080 --> 26:18.600
down below. So really looking forward to our Heritage of the Lord conference and celebrating.

26:18.600 --> 26:22.840
I actually ordered a bunch of new stickers and I'm excited. I'm sure the kids are going

26:22.840 --> 26:23.680
I really like those.

26:23.680 --> 26:27.400
So down below we also have our Mighty Men's Conference.

26:27.400 --> 26:29.840
It's going to be October 23rd to the 24th.

26:30.600 --> 26:35.000
And I don't think we have a physical sign up yet.

26:35.000 --> 26:35.880
We might add that too.

26:35.880 --> 26:39.240
But we do have online, if you go to godresource.com,

26:39.240 --> 26:41.120
you can register for the event.

26:41.120 --> 26:45.840
And it would really help us if we get everybody to sign up.

26:45.840 --> 26:48.360
Because we are planning on trying to do a dinner.

26:48.360 --> 26:51.200
So there's going to be kind of like a dinner and a gift.

26:51.200 --> 26:54.760
And so if we have a pretty accurate head count,

26:54.760 --> 26:56.040
that's going to really help us.

26:56.040 --> 26:57.360
So we'll probably.

26:58.600 --> 27:02.720
I just really encourage you if you haven't to sign up online and then we'll probably

27:02.720 --> 27:05.780
have a sign up sheet and then if you don't sign up, we're still going to corner you and

27:05.780 --> 27:06.980
ask you if you're going to come or not.

27:06.980 --> 27:09.200
So that way we have a pretty accurate count.

27:09.200 --> 27:13.300
But for the men, if you'd please just help us out and just kind of give us some kind

27:13.300 --> 27:18.900
of an accurate count because we are planning on feeding you a nice dinner and kind of getting

27:18.900 --> 27:19.900
some gifts and stuff.

27:19.900 --> 27:24.980
So I would like to make sure that we accommodate everybody accordingly.

27:24.980 --> 27:26.600
Faithful word preaching boot camp and then.

27:26.600 --> 27:31.880
we have a Trinidad missions trip in November, Shreveport's Zolani Marathon December 12th,

27:31.880 --> 27:36.440
and then a Philippines missions trip in 2027. So lots of different events there.

27:37.240 --> 27:39.000
On the back is our prayer list.

27:39.300 --> 27:44.540
Continue to be in prayer for our church family. If you have additional prayer requests, just please email us

27:44.940 --> 27:47.460
If something changes on our prayer list

27:47.460 --> 27:53.780
We kind of depend on you guys to give us those updates and help us to make sure that everything stays current and accurate

27:53.780 --> 27:57.920
So please just let us know and we'd like to update those things

27:57.920 --> 28:04.220
But please be in prayer for our church family and that's really all I have as far as announcements are going to sing our Psalm of the Week

28:04.220 --> 28:05.860
Psalm

28:05.860 --> 28:06.900
119

28:07.500 --> 28:09.500
in our Psalm book Psalm 119.

28:21.100 --> 28:23.100
Again, that's Psalm 119.

28:25.500 --> 28:28.500
Let's all sing it together on that first.

28:28.500 --> 28:37.500
Thy word is the Lamb unto my feet and the light unto my heart.

32:06.100 --> 32:08.780
At this time, the offering plates will be passed around.

32:08.780 --> 32:12.180
And you can turn in your Bibles to Leviticus chapter 1.

32:12.180 --> 32:14.100
That's Leviticus chapter 1.

32:56.700 --> 33:02.500
Leviticus chapter 1. We're going to read the entire chapter as is our custom.

33:02.500 --> 33:08.700
Leviticus chapter 1. Follow along silently. Beginning in verse 1, the Bible

33:08.700 --> 33:11.820
reads, and the Lord called unto Moses and spake unto him out of the

33:11.820 --> 33:16.180
tabernacle of the congregation saying, speak unto the children of Israel and

33:16.180 --> 33:21.220
say unto them, if any man of you bring an offering unto the Lord, ye shall bring

33:21.220 --> 33:24.600
your offering of the cattle even of the herd and of the flock.

33:24.600 --> 33:30.800
If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a meal without blemish.

33:30.800 --> 33:35.600
He shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation

33:35.600 --> 33:36.600
before the Lord.

33:36.600 --> 33:40.600
And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be accepted

33:40.600 --> 33:43.120
for him to make atonement for him.

33:43.120 --> 33:47.520
And he shall kill the bullock before the Lord, and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring

33:47.520 --> 33:51.640
the blood and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the

33:51.640 --> 33:52.600
tabernacle of the

33:52.600 --> 33:58.240
congregation. And he shall flay the burnt offering and cut it into his pieces. And the

33:58.240 --> 34:03.440
sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar and lay the wood in order upon the

34:03.440 --> 34:09.440
fire. And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head and the fat, in order

34:09.440 --> 34:14.960
upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar. But his inwards and his legs

34:14.960 --> 34:16.360
Shall he wash in water?

34:16.600 --> 34:21.960
and the priest shall burn all on the altar to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire of a

34:21.960 --> 34:28.280
sweet savor unto the Lord. And if his offering be of the flocks, namely of the sheep or of the goats,

34:28.280 --> 34:32.120
for a burnt sacrifice, he shall bring it a male without blemish.

34:32.500 --> 34:37.300
And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the Lord, and the priests,

34:37.300 --> 34:41.460
Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle his blood round about upon the altar.

34:41.460 --> 34:46.180
And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head at his fat, and the priest shall lay them

34:46.180 --> 34:51.380
in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar. But he shall wash the inwards,

34:51.380 --> 34:52.820
and the legs with water.

34:53.100 --> 34:56.580
and the priest shall bring it all and burn it upon the altar.

34:56.580 --> 34:59.980
It is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire

34:59.980 --> 35:01.860
of a sweet savor unto the Lord.

35:02.200 --> 35:06.000
and if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the Lord be of fowls,

35:06.000 --> 35:09.240
then he shall bring his offering of turtle doves or

35:09.240 --> 35:13.120
of young pigeons. And the priest shall bring it under the altar

35:13.120 --> 35:16.680
and wring off his head and burn it on the altar

35:16.680 --> 35:20.320
and the blood thereof shall be wrung out at the side of the altar

35:20.320 --> 35:25.040
and he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers and cast it beside the altar

35:25.040 --> 35:27.720
on the east part by the place of the ashes

35:27.720 --> 35:30.120
and he shall cleave it with the wings thereof.

35:30.200 --> 35:32.200
but shall not divide it asunder,

35:32.200 --> 35:34.720
and the priest shall burn it upon the altar,

35:34.720 --> 35:36.720
upon the wood that is upon the fire.

35:36.720 --> 35:40.020
It is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire,

35:40.020 --> 35:41.880
of a sweet savor unto the Lord.

35:41.880 --> 35:43.200
Let's bow our heads for a word of prayer.

35:44.200 --> 35:46.600
Father in heaven, we thank you for our church services today

35:46.600 --> 35:51.640
I pray that you bless the sermon this morning and fill pastor shelly with your spirit as he preaches the word of god to us

35:51.720 --> 35:58.200
And help us to pay close attention to the message this morning and make applications and draw lessons from

35:58.920 --> 36:00.760
the sermon and

36:00.760 --> 36:06.920
Also lord, I pray that you bless our soul winning time later. We love you and I ask for these things in the name of Jesus christ

36:06.920 --> 36:07.600
Amen

36:08.100 --> 36:13.760
Amen the title of my sermon this morning is sacrifices in Leviticus sacrifices in Leviticus

36:13.760 --> 36:19.800
And now these first several chapters here leading up to about chapter 10 really deal a lot of the animal

36:20.220 --> 36:24.940
sacrifices of the Old Testament and of course Leviticus is named because

36:25.860 --> 36:31.900
The fact that this is dealing with the Levitical priesthood for the most part these are instructions for the priesthood and

36:32.260 --> 36:36.080
What they're going to be doing and it's not arbitrary of course when you

36:36.100 --> 36:40.020
You read the Bible, especially maybe the first time or when you're young or when you're not

36:40.020 --> 36:41.020
even saved.

36:41.020 --> 36:44.180
You read the Old Testament law and it just seems confusing.

36:44.180 --> 36:45.580
There's a lot of animal sacrifices.

36:45.580 --> 36:47.420
They don't make very much sense.

36:47.420 --> 36:52.220
But when you become saved and you understand the gospel, you can actually see a different

36:52.220 --> 36:54.620
layer to a lot of the political priesthood.

36:54.620 --> 36:58.260
And I want to keep your finger, but go to Psalm 119 in the middle of your Bible for

36:58.260 --> 36:59.620
a second.

36:59.620 --> 37:03.020
And I want to show you just one verse that I wanted to pick out of Psalm 119.

37:03.020 --> 37:04.020
The Bible tells.

37:04.100 --> 37:10.780
us that it's a spiritual book. It's not just carnal instructions. It's not just history.

37:10.780 --> 37:16.660
There's a spiritual layer and the Bible itself. Everything is pointing to the gospel. You

37:16.660 --> 37:21.060
know, everything in creation is pointing to the gospel. Everything in the Bible, all the

37:21.060 --> 37:26.540
stories, all the examples are pointing to the gospel. And in fact, even the law is pointing

37:26.540 --> 37:31.300
to the gospel message. And in Psalm 119, I want to look at verse.

37:31.400 --> 37:35.920
18 the Bible says, open thou mine eyes.

37:36.200 --> 37:40.400
that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

37:40.400 --> 37:44.200
So this verse, I think what's interesting about it is

37:44.200 --> 37:47.500
it's kind of telling us that there's a second meaning

37:47.500 --> 37:51.300
or there's something that can be seen in the law

37:51.300 --> 37:54.700
that you wouldn't just get without God helping you.

37:54.700 --> 37:56.400
And it says, open thou mine eyes.

37:56.400 --> 37:58.500
This is typically a reference to being saved.

37:58.500 --> 38:02.600
When you get saved, the Bible talks about your eyes being enlightened

38:02.600 --> 38:04.100
and you getting a new...

38:04.200 --> 38:07.400
understanding, now you can see God.

38:07.400 --> 38:12.360
Of course that's language that's used by Jesus Christ when talking with Nicodemus and talking

38:12.360 --> 38:14.240
about being able to see God.

38:14.240 --> 38:17.240
And of course that's used in other parts of the gospel messages.

38:17.240 --> 38:23.040
And so when you become saved, you not only see the law for what it is, of course it's

38:23.040 --> 38:24.040
perfect.

38:24.040 --> 38:28.280
It's what we should do as humans on this earth.

38:28.280 --> 38:32.200
We should abide by God's law, whether that be just his moral instruction.

38:32.200 --> 38:37.700
whether that be a civic duties, whether that be a criminal justice system, you know, just

38:37.700 --> 38:43.300
national policy, just all of those ideas are all great and there's nothing wrong with them.

38:43.300 --> 38:44.300
We can all understand them.

38:44.300 --> 38:49.760
In fact, an unsaved person can understand that just the carnal truths of the Bible,

38:49.760 --> 38:50.100
but

38:50.200 --> 38:57.040
Beyond that there's a spiritual layer and there's a spiritual layer to the sacrificial system in Leviticus and then you read it

38:57.160 --> 38:59.960
It's kind of just boring and dry if you ask me

39:00.040 --> 39:05.560
But when you kind of think about it from a gospel perspective it becomes a little bit more engaging

39:05.560 --> 39:11.120
And so that's what I want to do is I want to go back to Leviticus and we're hoping that God will help us

39:11.200 --> 39:18.080
You know open our eyes that we can behold wondrous things out of the law and these wondrous things

39:18.200 --> 39:23.640
I believe are pertaining to Christ, the Gospel, and just the doctrine associated with the

39:23.640 --> 39:25.240
Gospel specifically.

39:25.240 --> 39:27.040
Now here in Leviticus chapter 1.

39:27.700 --> 39:30.860
verse 1 he says the Lord called on the Moses and spake in him out of the

39:30.860 --> 39:32.560
tabernacle congregation saying

39:32.560 --> 39:35.540
speak of the children of Israel and saying them of any man of you

39:35.540 --> 39:39.500
bring an offering of the Lord you should bring your offering of the cattle

39:39.500 --> 39:43.740
even of the herd and of the flock if his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the

39:43.740 --> 39:44.460
herd

39:44.460 --> 39:49.780
let him offer a male without blemish he shall offer it of his own voluntary will

39:49.780 --> 39:54.000
at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the Lord so

39:54.300 --> 40:04.300
You have, you know, in these chapters divisions, you have in some senses a little bit of a different flavor of the different sacrifices.

40:04.300 --> 40:12.300
In chapter one, you kind of have a burnt offering. That's kind of the main focus of chapter number one is this burnt sacrifice.

40:12.300 --> 40:13.300
price.

40:14.000 --> 40:24.000
You also have in this particular section in verse 3, notice it says that the person doing this offering is supposed to offer it of his own voluntary will.

40:24.000 --> 40:29.000
You know, God put the word voluntary there for the Calvinist to look that much more stupid, okay?

40:29.000 --> 40:33.000
Because it's just like, hey, you get to choose if you want to.

40:33.000 --> 40:37.000
Like, how can you be a Calvinist and then understand this word voluntary will?

40:38.800 --> 40:41.640
That, you know, and that's what makes God special.

40:41.640 --> 40:47.000
What makes God special and unique from humans is how His will can be accomplished while

40:47.000 --> 40:50.180
still giving us an actual voluntary free will.

40:50.180 --> 40:54.520
The Bible tells us that we have a true genuine free will and we can really do whatever we

40:54.520 --> 41:00.600
want, but while we have that autonomy, God can still accomplish His ultimate will and

41:00.600 --> 41:06.040
still accomplish the main objectives of the gospel message even though we have our own

41:06.040 --> 41:06.800
faculty.

41:06.800 --> 41:10.840
We have our own abilities. You know, I typically relate that to sports or something

41:11.360 --> 41:18.380
It's like if you were just so good that it's like I know that you have the ability to play against me

41:18.380 --> 41:22.060
But no matter how good you are how much you try you're gonna lose the game

41:22.060 --> 41:24.820
Like I'm gonna beat you and not only am I gonna beat you

41:24.820 --> 41:29.240
I know every move you're gonna make like when I go left you're gonna go right and then I'm gonna score

41:29.240 --> 41:33.560
I'm gonna dunk on you and in fact, and sometimes people have to talk trash this way. They'll even say like hey

41:33.560 --> 41:34.800
I know you're gonna do this

41:34.800 --> 41:40.160
and I'm just gonna stop you or I'm gonna score on you this way or they just tell you the play beforehand or they

41:40.160 --> 41:46.400
Tell you what's gonna happen for him, and then they do it. That's much more impressive than if someone were to do that to a robot

41:47.500 --> 41:50.640
If you just have a robot and say, hey, look, I'm going to make this move, and then the

41:50.640 --> 41:57.400
robot's going to respond counterwise, you'd think like, well, that's not as impressive

41:57.400 --> 42:02.460
as giving someone true free will and allowing them to make their own decisions, and then

42:02.460 --> 42:06.200
still God's able to accomplish His will.

42:06.200 --> 42:08.220
But what does this really ultimately picture?

42:08.220 --> 42:08.600
beautiful.

42:08.800 --> 42:14.000
A couple things that it pictures, let's go to Matthew chapter number 12 for a moment,

42:14.000 --> 42:17.200
go to Matthew chapter number 12.

42:17.200 --> 42:22.400
The Bible pretty much has almost every sacrifice as being a burnt sacrifice in some way.

42:22.400 --> 42:28.400
Now some are just entirely burnt, like that's the only portion of the sacrifice.

42:28.400 --> 42:28.900
But.

42:29.000 --> 42:37.000
I believe because the gospel is so complex and there's so much depth to it and because the gospel and what Christ did has so many layers

42:37.000 --> 42:43.000
that we have so many different sacrifices because we're picturing different layers of the gospel and different things that's being accomplished by Jesus Christ.

42:43.000 --> 42:49.000
It can't necessarily all be embodied by one example or just one metaphor or one symbol.

42:49.000 --> 42:53.400
And one of the aspects of the sacrifice of Christ,

42:53.400 --> 42:57.000
which is not necessarily popular by many pastors,

42:57.000 --> 43:01.800
pastors, but I think just the general population has no problem with this doctrine, is the

43:01.800 --> 43:05.840
fact that Jesus Christ really went to hell.

43:05.840 --> 43:12.360
And it's kind of surprising to me now, I feel like our country has become so de-Christianized

43:12.360 --> 43:16.160
that many people don't even know the stories of the Bible.

43:16.160 --> 43:20.800
And one of the stories that I found was probably the most famous story or story that most people

43:20.800 --> 43:23.500
always here is Jonah and the whale.

43:23.600 --> 43:26.600
And yet I go on knock on doors and I'm like,

43:26.600 --> 43:28.160
hey have you heard of Jonah and the whale?

43:28.160 --> 43:30.080
And there's like, I have no idea what you're talking about.

43:30.080 --> 43:33.880
And it's kind of sad because it's a great story,

43:33.880 --> 43:36.720
it's very familiar, it's the one thing everybody remembers

43:36.720 --> 43:37.680
out of the Minor Prophets.

43:37.680 --> 43:38.960
You're like, I don't know anything in the Minor Prophets

43:38.960 --> 43:40.640
but I remember Jonah and the whale, you know?

43:40.640 --> 43:42.840
It's kind of a fun story.

43:42.840 --> 43:46.160
And yet Jesus references that about himself.

43:46.160 --> 43:48.240
Look what it says in verse 39,

43:48.240 --> 43:49.360
but he answered and said to them,

43:49.360 --> 43:51.480
an adulterous generation.

43:51.600 --> 43:57.040
seek it after a sign, and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet

43:57.040 --> 43:58.120
Jonas.

43:58.120 --> 44:02.360
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly, so shall the Son of

44:02.360 --> 44:06.680
Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."

44:06.680 --> 44:13.000
So according to the Bible, Jesus is comparing himself to Jonah and saying, the picture of

44:13.000 --> 44:15.320
Jonah is really about me.

44:16.000 --> 44:20.000
and how I'm going to be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

44:20.000 --> 44:22.000
But, you know, most people, if I ask them,

44:22.000 --> 44:24.000
hey, do you know where Jesus went after he died?

44:24.000 --> 44:25.000
They say, heaven.

44:25.200 --> 44:31.700
A lot of people think that Jesus went immediately to heaven, but the Bible teaches he first descended into the depths of the earth,

44:31.700 --> 44:36.800
or as the Bible says right here, into the heart of the earth. That would be like the center of the earth.

44:36.800 --> 44:41.600
And so that's where, you know, we get a lot of doctrine. We understand hell itself is in the center of the earth.

44:41.600 --> 44:49.000
And of course, that's why so many of the sacrifices are talking about being a burnt offering and being roast with fire.

44:49.000 --> 44:53.200
It's because of this picture of Christ is going to go and perform.

44:53.200 --> 44:57.940
this sacrifice for us. Now let's get more details on this. Go to Jonah itself. Go back

44:57.940 --> 45:03.820
a little bit and go to Jonah itself in the Old Testament. So we'll be holding wondrous

45:03.820 --> 45:06.840
things out of the law. And you know, some people get upset about this doctrine, but

45:06.840 --> 45:09.280
then you're like, okay, well, what does the burnt sacrifice mean?

45:09.800 --> 45:11.960
because it's heavily emphasized.

45:11.960 --> 45:15.040
Burnt sacrifice or being roast with fire

45:15.040 --> 45:17.000
is not a minimum thing in the Bible.

45:17.000 --> 45:19.960
In fact, it's reiterated over and over and over again.

45:19.960 --> 45:23.280
And I would even argue that from an Old Testament picture

45:23.280 --> 45:25.000
and the foreshadowing of the Old Testament,

45:25.000 --> 45:28.140
it's emphasized more than the cross itself would be.

45:28.500 --> 45:33.000
But that doesn't mean that the cross is less or not emphasized or not important.

45:33.000 --> 45:37.900
And of course, the New Testament seems to emphasize the cross more than Jesus going to hell.

45:37.900 --> 45:44.100
But the Old Testament seems to, you know, picture the burnt sacrifice more than the pictures of the cross.

45:44.100 --> 45:47.300
And so we don't want to sit here and just pick and choose and say,

45:47.300 --> 45:52.000
well, one matters and the other doesn't, or this one's the only one that we should talk about.

45:52.000 --> 45:53.200
I think we should talk about both.

45:53.600 --> 45:58.400
And the Old Testament is still just as relevant to the gospel messages of the New Testament.

45:58.400 --> 46:00.700
The Bible says in Jonah chapter 2, it says,

46:00.700 --> 46:03.600
Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish's belly,

46:03.600 --> 46:07.000
and said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord,

46:07.000 --> 46:10.900
and he heard me out of the belly of hell, cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

46:10.900 --> 46:17.300
Notice when Jonah is describing what it was like to be in a whale's belly,

46:17.300 --> 46:21.500
or the great fish's belly, he describes it as the belly of hell.

46:21.800 --> 46:23.800
And again, this is a metaphor.

46:24.200 --> 46:27.640
For Jonah, Jonah wasn't literally in hell, we get that.

46:27.640 --> 46:31.360
Jonah is using this language to describe what it feels like,

46:31.360 --> 46:33.520
what he's experiencing.

46:33.520 --> 46:35.780
And in some ways, if you think about it,

46:35.780 --> 46:37.280
there's a lot of parallels.

46:37.280 --> 46:39.640
Because in the well's belly, there's no light.

46:39.640 --> 46:42.060
It's complete darkness.

46:42.060 --> 46:45.160
There's complete darkness, he's alone,

46:45.160 --> 46:47.880
and the fish even is gonna be, obviously,

46:47.880 --> 46:50.800
submerged underneath the water.

46:50.800 --> 46:52.200
So it's kind of picturing being under.

46:52.200 --> 46:55.200
being, you know, in a prison.

46:55.200 --> 46:57.200
There's just complete darkness.

46:57.200 --> 47:04.200
So some aspects of this experience are going to mimic those things in hell.

47:05.000 --> 47:08.600
I have no idea what it would have been like physically.

47:08.600 --> 47:10.360
It could have been warm.

47:10.360 --> 47:13.720
I mean, in most cases, the stomach is a warm place.

47:13.720 --> 47:15.600
You know, it's considered a mammal.

47:15.600 --> 47:18.080
I don't know why, but, you know, by scientific classification,

47:18.080 --> 47:19.440
it's considered a mammal.

47:19.440 --> 47:21.680
And so, you know, it could have been hot.

47:21.680 --> 47:24.400
It could have been, you know, very uncomfortable.

47:24.400 --> 47:27.040
There could have been, you know, even potentially the acid

47:27.040 --> 47:30.400
in there could have been a burning sensation.

47:30.400 --> 47:32.920
You know, I don't think he was dying necessarily, but...

47:33.000 --> 47:35.200
but he's probably close to, probably felt like it.

47:35.200 --> 47:36.200
I can't even imagine, you know,

47:36.200 --> 47:38.240
usually when you're in pain, five minutes,

47:38.240 --> 47:41.600
seems like five hours, I can't imagine three days.

47:41.600 --> 47:44.640
It might've felt like eternity, you know, just, you know,

47:44.640 --> 47:49.000
and in fact, maybe from like other portions of scripture,

47:49.000 --> 47:51.600
or maybe God gave him wisdom that he would know

47:51.600 --> 47:53.400
in three days he was gonna be getting out,

47:53.400 --> 47:55.800
but when you don't know that you're getting out,

47:55.800 --> 47:57.900
it's a really hopeless feeling.

47:58.700 --> 48:01.700
It's a really, and you're kind of just wishing to die,

48:01.700 --> 48:05.200
and by dying, like in a sense of ceasing the pain.

48:05.200 --> 48:08.700
And that's again, what's going to be experienced in hell.

48:08.700 --> 48:11.700
People are going to be in hell wishing to not exist anymore,

48:11.700 --> 48:13.700
wishing for the pain to stop,

48:13.700 --> 48:15.700
wondering when is it going to be over.

48:15.700 --> 48:19.500
And the unfortunate part for them is it's never over.

48:19.900 --> 48:23.100
It's never gonna end. There's weeping and gnashing of teeth.

48:23.100 --> 48:29.900
And of course, it's even more excruciating because it's actual fire, it's actual burning,

48:29.900 --> 48:35.300
yet in an incredible way, while there's fire, it's outer darkness in a sense.

48:35.300 --> 48:37.900
So I have no idea how any of that makes sense.

48:37.900 --> 48:39.500
It's a scary place.

48:39.500 --> 48:43.600
If you tried to dream up the worst punishment imaginable, you will land in hell.

48:44.200 --> 48:48.720
In every category hell is the worst possible in every category in every way

48:48.720 --> 48:55.920
And of course that's because God is going to punish sin because he hates sin and his wrath is kindled against hell and

48:56.620 --> 49:03.360
The Bible says just as Jonah was here, you know in this metaphorical sense Jesus really was there

49:04.400 --> 49:07.780
So, this is what's interesting about the book of Jonah, is it's like, Jonah's saying these

49:07.780 --> 49:12.480
things but then it's like, it's like literally true for the Lord Jesus Christ.

49:12.480 --> 49:15.960
He says in verse 3, for thou hast cast me into the deep in the midst of the seas and

49:15.960 --> 49:19.600
the floods, compass me about all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

49:19.600 --> 49:24.060
Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight, yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

49:24.060 --> 49:27.880
The waters compass me about even to the soul.

49:27.880 --> 49:31.840
The depth closes me round about, the weeds are wrapped around about my head.

49:31.840 --> 49:32.340
again.

49:32.400 --> 49:33.400
weeds being wrapped around his head.

49:33.400 --> 49:35.720
That's Jonah that we're talking about, of course.

49:35.720 --> 49:36.720
But it says here,

49:36.720 --> 49:38.220
And I went down to the bottoms of the mountains,

49:38.220 --> 49:40.000
The earth of the bars is about me forever,

49:40.000 --> 49:42.160
Yet hast thou brought up my life in corruption,

49:42.160 --> 49:43.160
O Lord my God.

49:43.160 --> 49:46.240
Verse 6 doesn't really make as much sense for Jonah.

49:47.100 --> 49:54.100
It's more metaphorical, but for Christ, the earth really was about Christ in the sense that he's in the center of the earth.

49:54.100 --> 49:58.600
So, you know, it's kind of like metaphoric for Jonah, it's literal for Jesus Christ.

49:58.600 --> 50:02.600
Because for Jonah, it's metaphor that he's in the belly of hell.

50:02.600 --> 50:05.100
For Jesus, he really is in the belly of hell.

50:05.100 --> 50:10.100
And so, if you kind of see chapter 2, it almost seems like it kind of goes back and forth.

50:10.100 --> 50:15.100
It's like 2 is about Christ, and then 3 is about Jonah, and then 4 is about Christ.

50:15.100 --> 50:18.820
is about Christ and then five is about Jonah and then six is about Christ.

50:19.020 --> 50:21.300
It's kind of as it's like alternating pattern.

50:21.700 --> 50:25.500
And when it's about Christ, it's a metaphor for Jonah,

50:25.660 --> 50:28.140
but it's literal for the Lord Jesus Christ.

50:28.580 --> 50:32.220
Now, let's go to Acts, chapter two, and let's confirm what we've just seen

50:32.220 --> 50:35.980
in the scripture. But, you know, in the Old Testament.

50:36.800 --> 50:41.300
Law, you would have a burnt sacrifice and you would burn this animal.

50:41.300 --> 50:45.540
And what is that to foreshadow in the picture is how Christ was going to go to hell and

50:45.540 --> 50:46.700
he was going to suffer for us.

50:46.700 --> 50:52.620
Acts chapter number 2, look what it says in verse number 27 because, let's do verse 26,

50:52.620 --> 50:57.600
therefore did my heart rejoice and my tongue was glad moreover also my flesh shall rest

50:57.600 --> 51:00.160
in hope because that will not leave my soul in hell.

51:00.500 --> 51:02.740
neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one as he corrupts you."

51:02.740 --> 51:06.580
No, for Christ, He did know that it was temporary.

51:06.580 --> 51:09.020
He did know that He would eventually come out.

51:09.020 --> 51:11.220
And He said that's the only hope He had.

51:11.220 --> 51:14.820
Because if you're in hell, your only hope is you're getting out.

51:14.820 --> 51:16.420
For those that are not getting out, there is no hope.

51:16.800 --> 51:19.800
He says, thou hast made known to me the ways of life.

51:19.800 --> 51:22.680
Thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

51:22.680 --> 51:25.840
Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both

51:25.840 --> 51:29.700
dead and buried in sepulchre as with us unto this day, therefore being a prophet and knowing

51:29.700 --> 51:34.500
that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins, according to the

51:34.500 --> 51:36.960
flesh he would raise up Christ and sit on his throne.

51:36.960 --> 51:41.480
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul is not left in hell,

51:41.480 --> 51:42.960
neither is flesh as a corruption.

51:42.960 --> 51:43.800
So in.

51:43.800 --> 51:47.800
The Psalms, which we're not going to go to, we could prove this doctrine so many different times,

51:47.800 --> 51:55.800
but if we go back to the Psalms, David in the book of Psalms is being quoted as talking about his flesh resting in hope

51:55.800 --> 51:57.800
because his soul is not going to be left in hell.

51:57.800 --> 52:03.800
But it's like, then the author needs to explain to us, and Peter is kind of explaining,

52:03.800 --> 52:10.600
but he's not talking about himself because number one, David's flesh is gone.

52:10.700 --> 52:13.340
Okay, David's flesh saw corruption.

52:13.340 --> 52:15.300
David's sepulcher, we have a sepulcher,

52:15.300 --> 52:17.980
we could go get his bones out right now.

52:17.980 --> 52:20.100
Okay, but they don't have the bones of Christ,

52:20.100 --> 52:21.180
they don't have the flesh of Christ,

52:21.180 --> 52:23.400
it's resurrected and it's in heaven right now.

52:23.800 --> 52:26.200
And he's saying he wasn't talking about himself.

52:26.200 --> 52:29.300
He was talking about someone else of his physical descendency,

52:29.300 --> 52:31.300
someone that was a physical son of David,

52:31.300 --> 52:32.900
that was going to be in hell.

52:32.900 --> 52:34.400
And who were we talking about?

52:34.400 --> 52:37.000
He was speaking before of the resurrection of Christ,

52:37.000 --> 52:39.200
that his soul was not going to be left in hell,

52:39.200 --> 52:41.400
and that his flesh was not going to see corruption,

52:41.400 --> 52:43.400
meaning that his body wasn't going to rot,

52:43.400 --> 52:45.600
and decompose, and turn into bones,

52:45.600 --> 52:47.200
and we would have his sepulcher.

52:47.200 --> 52:48.600
We don't have his sepulcher.

52:48.600 --> 52:51.800
You know, of the people that have lived and died on this earth.

52:51.800 --> 52:57.040
earth, you know, we have their dust at least, you know, whether they've, you know, been

52:57.040 --> 53:03.120
buried or cremated or whatever you want to think of, we have their dust and yet we don't

53:03.120 --> 53:04.440
have the body of Christ.

53:04.440 --> 53:10.000
The most influential person of all history, we have no burial site where His body is.

53:10.000 --> 53:14.200
You know, we have the tomb, the stone was rolled away and the tomb was empty and so

53:14.200 --> 53:19.720
the Jews had to lie and say, oh well, the disciples secretly buried Him.

53:19.800 --> 53:24.280
In order to deny Christ, you have to believe the disciples secretly buried Jesus

53:24.280 --> 53:28.000
and then went out and lived lives of misery and woe

53:28.000 --> 53:32.480
and ultimate sacrifice and martyrdom for no reason.

53:32.480 --> 53:36.400
Like if you're going to make up a lie, wouldn't you want to make up a lie

53:36.400 --> 53:40.240
for money or make up a lie for fame?

53:40.240 --> 53:43.100
Like why do you have to lie to be martyred?

53:43.800 --> 53:48.800
To be killed and persecuted and hated, you know, that's typically not...

53:48.800 --> 53:50.800
You're not usually willing to die for a lie.

53:51.400 --> 53:53.800
Especially a lie that you made up about yourself.

53:53.800 --> 53:56.100
You know, be estranged from your own family,

53:56.100 --> 53:58.900
and just being out in the world where everybody's hating you,

53:58.900 --> 54:01.600
and being beaten, and being put in prison,

54:01.600 --> 54:04.900
and being killed, and people just being mad at you.

54:04.900 --> 54:08.500
Just a lie about some guy's body that you buried somewhere.

54:08.500 --> 54:10.400
You know, that's what the secular is.

54:10.400 --> 54:12.300
That's what the atheists have to believe.

54:12.300 --> 54:14.100
And it makes no sense.

54:14.100 --> 54:15.400
There's no motive.

54:15.600 --> 54:19.880
No, it's obvious that they died because they saw the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ, that

54:19.880 --> 54:23.080
they were saved, that they were filled with the Spirit of God, and they are willing to

54:23.080 --> 54:28.440
suffer the affliction and be a partaker of Christ's sufferings, just like what Christ

54:28.440 --> 54:29.440
did.

54:29.440 --> 54:32.440
And of course, we don't have Christ's body because He suffered in hell.

54:32.440 --> 54:35.400
Now again, some people would say, well, He went to hell, but He didn't suffer.

54:36.700 --> 54:43.900
You know that kind of creates a weird idea because then we have to create a compartment in hell that's not suffering

54:45.220 --> 54:52.400
Whereas the simple the simple understanding would just be it's suffering. Okay. Also Christ isn't saying here like in verse 26

54:52.820 --> 54:56.980
Well, my heart did rejoice because of the special compartment where there's no suffering

54:58.220 --> 55:03.100
Now what did he say? He said that the only thing that he had hope in is that he wasn't gonna be left there

55:03.700 --> 55:06.200
So he didn't like it at the very minimum.

55:06.200 --> 55:10.600
But even then in this chapter, you have an even more clear verse.

55:10.600 --> 55:12.100
It says in verse 23,

55:12.100 --> 55:16.600
him being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,

55:16.600 --> 55:20.400
you have taken and by wicked hands have crucified and slain.

55:20.400 --> 55:25.200
Here's another verse that the Calvinist can't understand, but notice,

55:25.200 --> 55:27.900
it's like, hey, by the foreknowledge of God,

55:27.900 --> 55:31.500
he knew that you guys were going to take Jesus and you were going to crucify him.

55:31.700 --> 55:38.400
It's not that they didn't do that of their own will, it's just God knew exactly what they were going to do before they even did it.

55:38.400 --> 55:46.700
Now it says in verse 24, whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death because it was not possible that he should be holding of it.

55:46.700 --> 55:53.600
Now, again, think about this. It's like, hey, in verse 24, God raised up. When is the resurrection?

55:54.000 --> 55:57.200
That's three days after the crucifixion.

55:57.200 --> 55:58.000
Okay.

55:58.000 --> 55:58.900
And then it says,

55:58.900 --> 56:01.200
having loosed the pains of death.

56:01.200 --> 56:07.000
So being raised up loosed him from the pains of death.

56:07.000 --> 56:10.000
Now, if we just slow down and think about this very carefully,

56:10.000 --> 56:15.200
number one, Christ is not dead when he was on the cross.

56:15.200 --> 56:17.200
Now, he is suffering pain,

56:17.200 --> 56:19.600
and you could argue he's dying,

56:19.600 --> 56:21.200
but he's not dead.

56:21.400 --> 56:24.000
He hasn't experienced death, okay?

56:24.000 --> 56:26.600
So to say that this is talking about the cross

56:26.600 --> 56:30.700
would number one be to misunderstand the fact that he's not dead on the cross.

56:30.700 --> 56:35.300
And when you're dead, we typically understand that physically you're not experiencing pain anymore

56:35.300 --> 56:36.800
from a physical perspective.

56:36.800 --> 56:38.500
But what is the pains of death?

56:38.500 --> 56:40.800
This is what the Bible is describing as hell.

56:40.800 --> 56:44.800
Because of course the dead are in hell and they're experiencing pain.

56:44.800 --> 56:48.700
And what loosed Christ from the pains of death?

56:49.000 --> 56:54.200
or the pains of hell is being resurrected, which then matches in perfectly with the whole context

56:54.200 --> 56:59.880
is in verse 26. He's saying that's why you had, you know, some hope and that's why in verse 27,

56:59.880 --> 57:04.280
because he wasn't gonna be left in hell. And of course, this is all fits together perfectly,

57:04.280 --> 57:10.440
that he was loose from the pains of death and he suffered. And that's why the Bible emphasizes

57:11.000 --> 57:15.800
burnt offerings so much, because some people would say, oh, well, if Christ went to hell,

57:15.800 --> 57:16.920
Wouldn't the Bible tell us?

57:17.000 --> 57:19.000
And it's like, yes, it tells us a lot.

57:19.000 --> 57:22.000
It brings it, and so every time you read about the burnt sacrifice,

57:22.000 --> 57:24.000
you read about these burnt offerings,

57:24.000 --> 57:26.000
you should be realizing what Christ did for us

57:26.000 --> 57:28.000
by taking our place in hell,

57:28.000 --> 57:31.000
experiencing the pains of death.

57:31.000 --> 57:34.000
The Bible says, by reason of affliction cried I,

57:34.000 --> 57:37.000
out of the belly of hell cried I.

57:37.000 --> 57:40.000
So it's just like, he's saying it's affliction in the book of Jonah.

57:40.000 --> 57:43.000
It's saying it's the pains of death in the book of Acts.

57:43.000 --> 57:45.000
I mean, nowhere

57:45.000 --> 57:49.640
else in the Bible is hell a pleasant place. Nowhere is there any other escape. The only

57:49.640 --> 57:55.560
relief that he's claiming to have is the hope of leaving. Okay, so it seems like it's just

57:55.560 --> 58:00.440
really simple that Christ went to hell like the Bible says. He was in the heart of the

58:00.440 --> 58:00.840
earth.

58:01.000 --> 58:06.800
It was pain, it was affliction, he cried, God heard him, and he was resurrected.

58:06.800 --> 58:13.920
And of course, then that satisfies our punishment because we would have to go to hell if we

58:13.920 --> 58:15.380
got what we deserved.

58:15.380 --> 58:21.000
And so instead, an innocent, perfect, spotless lamb, Jesus Christ, went and took our place,

58:21.000 --> 58:24.360
not only to die, but to go to hell for us.

58:24.360 --> 58:28.560
He became a curse on the cross, and the curse of the law is what?

58:29.400 --> 58:31.400
What is the curse of the law?

58:31.400 --> 58:32.520
It's death.

58:32.520 --> 58:33.120
Okay.

58:33.120 --> 58:34.720
And what's the worst part about death?

58:34.720 --> 58:37.360
It's not that you cease from the pain of the cross.

58:37.360 --> 58:39.400
It's that you then go to hell.

58:39.400 --> 58:41.760
For the ways of sin is death.

58:41.760 --> 58:47.760
It's, you know, what's scary about death is not not being alive.

58:47.760 --> 58:49.560
It's being in hell.

58:49.560 --> 58:53.560
Because for the Christian, it's not as scary because we're going to go to heaven.

58:53.900 --> 58:56.900
And in some cases, people even long for death

58:56.900 --> 59:00.400
because they simply want to be in heaven where there's even more rest.

59:00.400 --> 59:02.200
It's rest... I mean, what is heaven considered?

59:02.200 --> 59:05.800
Rest, no pain, joy.

59:05.800 --> 59:08.500
I mean, for many elderly people...

59:08.800 --> 59:12.360
And even not even just elderly people, some people are just suffering a lot on this earth.

59:12.360 --> 59:18.100
Like they're just in a lot of physical pain, they're in just a lot of torment, they're not having much rest.

59:18.100 --> 59:24.360
And it's like they're not experiencing much joy. I mean Lazarus with his sores, he wasn't enjoying life.

59:24.360 --> 59:27.060
He was excited to die and go to heaven.

59:27.060 --> 59:32.560
Okay. So death itself, what's scary about death, what's the punishment of death is hell itself.

59:32.900 --> 59:41.600
And so Christ not only experienced excruciating pain on the cross and in this life and the shame and the embarrassment and the woe,

59:41.600 --> 59:48.900
but he also experienced the pains of death itself, which is the scary, arguably in my opinion, one of the scariest things that you could possibly face.

59:48.900 --> 59:50.900
And it really is.

59:50.900 --> 59:57.300
And so we shouldn't undermine what Christ did, we should just realize that Christ took our punishment in hell.

59:57.300 --> 59:58.500
Go back if you would.

59:58.900 --> 01:00:03.940
So then what's important about this is that this burnt sacrifice that's offered is offered

01:00:03.940 --> 01:00:11.780
of a voluntary will. Picturing what? That your salvation is based on your voluntary will

01:00:11.780 --> 01:00:18.580
of putting your faith in the sacrifice of Christ. That we put our faith in what Jesus did

01:00:18.580 --> 01:00:21.860
of our own voluntary will and that's what saves us.

01:00:22.200 --> 01:00:26.900
It's not our works, it's not the fruit of the ground of what we did.

01:00:26.900 --> 01:00:32.700
It's simply offering someone in our place, and that person in our place is an animal

01:00:32.700 --> 01:00:35.200
picture in the Old Testament of Christ.

01:00:35.200 --> 01:00:39.600
And so all of the animal sacrifices make sense with the gospel and what Christ did.

01:00:39.600 --> 01:00:44.640
From an Islamic perspective, it's kind of crazy to me, or like even Jews, they have

01:00:44.640 --> 01:00:48.520
all these animal sacrifices that they would give lip service to and point to, and of course

01:00:48.520 --> 01:00:50.120
even Muslims today have their halal.

01:00:50.200 --> 01:00:53.280
meat, and they sacrifice goats and lambs and animals and stuff.

01:00:53.280 --> 01:00:55.840
It's like, well, what is that picture though?

01:00:55.840 --> 01:00:56.840
What's the point of that?

01:00:56.840 --> 01:01:01.000
Like, why is God having you constantly slaughtering animals and sacrifice them?

01:01:01.000 --> 01:01:02.960
Like, why is He doing that?

01:01:02.960 --> 01:01:06.360
And again, from a Christian perspective, it's because it pictures the Lamb of God and how

01:01:06.360 --> 01:01:09.920
Jesus took the sin of the world and how He died for our sin.

01:01:09.920 --> 01:01:11.000
But the Muslims don't believe that.

01:01:11.700 --> 01:01:14.400
And the Jews don't believe that.

01:01:14.400 --> 01:01:18.140
And the Jews really don't even believe that's what their antichrist will even do.

01:01:18.140 --> 01:01:23.960
They have a kind of a warped idea of their antichrist being a political leader and conquering

01:01:23.960 --> 01:01:29.360
the world, whereas Christ came to die for the world and be a sacrifice for the world.

01:01:29.360 --> 01:01:31.380
And yet they don't understand these pictures.

01:01:31.380 --> 01:01:32.380
They don't understand these things.

01:01:32.380 --> 01:01:33.380
Why?

01:01:33.380 --> 01:01:34.020
Because they're not saved.

01:01:34.300 --> 01:01:38.300
If you're not saved, you're not going to understand the wondrous things out of the law.

01:01:38.300 --> 01:01:41.300
You're not going to get them, and so you're just going to perform sacrifices.

01:01:41.300 --> 01:01:45.300
Look, the Jews are wanting to perform animal sacrifices again.

01:01:45.800 --> 01:01:51.460
You know, in Israel, in modern Israel today, they're trying to bring back the Red Heifer,

01:01:51.460 --> 01:01:54.440
they're trying to bring back different animal sacrifices.

01:01:54.440 --> 01:01:57.320
The Bible and the book of Daniel talks about in the end times, there's going to be a daily

01:01:57.320 --> 01:02:01.920
sacrifice and that it's going to be taken away with the Antichrist because he's going

01:02:01.920 --> 01:02:04.020
to claim that he's the real Christ.

01:02:04.020 --> 01:02:09.600
But even their little Antichrist, he's not dying for the sins of the world, he's killed

01:02:09.600 --> 01:02:13.200
by some radical or something or something's happening that's different.

01:02:13.200 --> 01:02:13.800
after he calls.

01:02:13.800 --> 01:02:17.960
conquers the world, not him coming in a lowly form,

01:02:17.960 --> 01:02:20.500
as a humble servant, loving people.

01:02:20.500 --> 01:02:22.000
You know, what does the Antichrist go?

01:02:22.000 --> 01:02:24.400
He goes out to conquer and to kill.

01:02:24.400 --> 01:02:25.940
Like the Antichrist is just killing

01:02:25.940 --> 01:02:28.140
and slaughtering people en masse.

01:02:28.140 --> 01:02:30.540
Jesus Christ is saving people and healing them

01:02:30.540 --> 01:02:32.780
from their sicknesses and their diseases

01:02:32.780 --> 01:02:35.480
and bringing like good things into the world.

01:02:35.480 --> 01:02:36.820
He's killed for.

01:02:37.000 --> 01:02:44.360
Feeding people and raising people from the dead the Antichrist is is different because he's slaughtering everyone and conquering everyone and and

01:02:44.980 --> 01:02:51.820
Stabbing everyone in the back and betraying people and just like he's just the man of sin is what the Bible describes him as and so

01:02:51.820 --> 01:02:53.820
They're complete opposites completely different

01:02:54.500 --> 01:02:58.800
We have to understand that this Levitical priesthood is foreshadowing Christ.

01:02:58.800 --> 01:03:00.800
And again, these sacrifices are daily sacrifices.

01:03:00.800 --> 01:03:04.800
They're done like all the time, every single day, these burnt sacrifices.

01:03:04.800 --> 01:03:06.200
Now, it says in verse 4,

01:03:06.200 --> 01:03:08.300
"...and he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering,

01:03:08.300 --> 01:03:10.000
and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him."

01:03:10.000 --> 01:03:12.000
So notice this gives you the atonement.

01:03:12.000 --> 01:03:17.000
But the Bible tells in the book of Hebrews that the animal sacrifices could never take away sin.

01:03:17.000 --> 01:03:20.000
That was never what really took away the sin.

01:03:20.000 --> 01:03:21.100
It says in verse 5,

01:03:21.100 --> 01:03:22.500
and he shall kill a bull before the Lord and the...

01:03:22.500 --> 01:03:27.920
priest, Aaron's sons shall bring the blood and sprinkle the blood about upon the altar

01:03:27.920 --> 01:03:30.660
that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

01:03:30.660 --> 01:03:36.420
So one aspect of the sacrifice is that blood is sprinkled and it will also talk about how

01:03:36.420 --> 01:03:38.800
it's put on the horns of the altar.

01:03:38.800 --> 01:03:42.920
And I'm not going to necessarily go to every verse for sake of time this morning, but it's

01:03:42.920 --> 01:03:45.560
sprinkled and it's on the horns.

01:03:45.560 --> 01:03:49.280
And this, you know, is going to foreshadow and picture how Jesus Christ...

01:03:49.600 --> 01:03:52.400
you know, leading up to his crucifixion,

01:03:52.400 --> 01:03:55.520
he is being whipped, he has a crown of thorns,

01:03:55.520 --> 01:03:58.800
and so of course, as he's going up to the cross,

01:03:58.800 --> 01:04:00.400
his blood is being sprinkled.

01:04:00.400 --> 01:04:02.300
His blood is literally, it's not...

01:04:02.300 --> 01:04:07.600
necessarily all gushing out, but there's going to be sprinkles of his blood going on the ground going in different areas

01:04:07.600 --> 01:04:14.220
Of course, it's just kind of picturing the spat the splattering of Christ's blood that's going through all these different elements

01:04:14.220 --> 01:04:20.680
And then later we're gonna have another element of of the blood but he's constantly you know

01:04:20.680 --> 01:04:26.840
Having his blood sprinkled it says and the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar and lay the wood in

01:04:27.240 --> 01:04:30.200
Order upon the fire. So again, it's this sac

01:04:30.300 --> 01:04:34.060
is a wood sacrifice and I think that's the picture again the cross he's put on

01:04:34.060 --> 01:04:38.940
wood and of course that is how he's killed so you have another layer there

01:04:38.940 --> 01:04:42.780
it says in the priest Aaron's son shall lay the parts of the head and the fat in

01:04:42.780 --> 01:04:46.260
order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar but his inwards

01:04:46.260 --> 01:04:50.180
in his legs shall he wash in water and the priest shall burn all on the altar

01:04:50.180 --> 01:04:54.800
to be a burnt sacrifice an offering made by fire of a sweet savor under the Lord

01:04:55.000 --> 01:04:58.600
And so, again, you kind of have different parts of the animal.

01:04:58.600 --> 01:05:03.400
It's said in verse, I can't remember which verse it was.

01:05:03.400 --> 01:05:04.600
It says, oh, it says it's six.

01:05:04.600 --> 01:05:07.400
They filay, or they filay the burnt offering.

01:05:07.400 --> 01:05:10.600
This is to de-skin the animal.

01:05:10.800 --> 01:05:14.300
So, and again, we're not going to read all of Leviticus, but you can read it all if you

01:05:14.300 --> 01:05:20.700
want, but basically they skin the entire animal and they take just kind of the outward parts

01:05:20.700 --> 01:05:24.980
like the head and these different parts and they put them up into one section.

01:05:24.980 --> 01:05:27.560
Then they get all the fat and they gather that into a section.

01:05:27.560 --> 01:05:33.220
Then they get all the meat portion and they do different things with these different parts

01:05:33.220 --> 01:05:34.260
of the animal.

01:05:34.260 --> 01:05:37.660
In some cases you have a whole burn offering so this is burning the entire animal.

01:05:37.660 --> 01:05:38.660
other cases there.

01:05:38.800 --> 01:05:42.200
they're going to burn certain parts of the animal in certain places.

01:05:42.200 --> 01:05:47.300
Okay, so they're going to take the N words and they're going to burn them on the altar that's right here

01:05:47.300 --> 01:05:53.300
inside the holy place. Whereas the skin and the dung and the head and all these outward parts,

01:05:53.300 --> 01:05:57.800
they're going to take them outside of the camp and they're going to burn them outside of the camp.

01:05:57.800 --> 01:06:03.300
Okay, so you kind of have like different things happening all with this particular animal

01:06:03.300 --> 01:06:06.200
and you know, they're eating the meat.

01:06:06.800 --> 01:06:12.800
You know, this always bothered me because it's like, you know, you read about Native Americans and they eat like the whole animal.

01:06:12.800 --> 01:06:17.800
And it's like, but in the Old Testament, like, they're not eating all this weird stuff, okay?

01:06:17.800 --> 01:06:20.800
And, you know, people are always offering you these weird cuts of meat.

01:06:20.800 --> 01:06:22.800
And, you know, God bless you. You can do whatever you want.

01:06:23.200 --> 01:06:27.340
But I'm just like, you know in the Old Testament they were burning that stuff. You know what I mean?

01:06:27.660 --> 01:06:34.140
It's like hey, here's the head and this body part and this and you're just like yeah, I'll take the brisket

01:06:34.140 --> 01:06:39.600
You know like I'll take I'll take the steak portion of the animal, you know, they're cleaning it

01:06:39.600 --> 01:06:45.860
And again, they're cleaning it up too, you know, they clean out the insides and of course cleaning out the insides. They're washing it

01:06:45.860 --> 01:06:51.200
They're not eating the blood. They're not eating the fat. And so I think number one all of these things are

01:06:51.200 --> 01:06:56.400
good things in general. Like they're just carnal truths, they're the superior way to clean the

01:06:56.400 --> 01:07:00.720
animal, to perform, you know, all these different things associated with cooking.

01:07:01.100 --> 01:07:05.760
the animal. And so we should take some lessons from this, but again it pictures

01:07:05.760 --> 01:07:09.800
spiritual things as well. It says in verse 13, but he shall wash the inwards of the legs with water

01:07:09.800 --> 01:07:13.400
and the priest shall bring it all and burn it upon the altar. It is a burnt sacrifice and

01:07:13.400 --> 01:07:15.400
offered me by fire of a sweet savor unto the Lord.

01:07:15.400 --> 01:07:19.680
And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the Lord be a thousand, he shall bring his

01:07:19.680 --> 01:07:21.560
offering of turtle doves or young pigeons

01:07:21.560 --> 01:07:25.640
and the priest shall bring it to the altar and ring off his head and burn it on the altar. And the blood

01:07:25.640 --> 01:07:28.640
thereof shall be wrung out at the side of the altar.

01:07:29.100 --> 01:07:31.540
So, also with the animals they do the same thing.

01:07:31.540 --> 01:07:32.840
They wring out all the blood.

01:07:32.840 --> 01:07:36.540
They get all the excess blood at the end of the altar.

01:07:36.540 --> 01:07:40.700
And they do this similarly in other sections of the Bible where it says that they would

01:07:40.700 --> 01:07:45.540
pour out all the blood at the bottom of the altar.

01:07:45.540 --> 01:07:47.940
And if you would go to John chapter 19.

01:07:48.500 --> 01:07:59.500
We'll see, so Christ's blood is sprinkled throughout the sacrifice of him walking to the cross and being beaten and whipped and having a crown of thorns upon his head.

01:07:59.500 --> 01:08:04.500
And so I think the horns of the altar kind of picture, of course, you know, like the cross itself.

01:08:04.500 --> 01:08:07.500
You've got two lifted up horns and you have the blood put on there.

01:08:07.500 --> 01:08:16.500
And he's obviously put up on the cross and you have, you know, his hands being nailed to the cross and kind of picture the blood on the horn.

01:08:16.500 --> 01:08:22.980
of the altar. You have Aaron himself being anointed and they put blood on his ear and on his fingers

01:08:22.980 --> 01:08:28.420
and on his toes and it's like picturing, you know, again, I believe Christ being on the on the cross

01:08:28.420 --> 01:08:32.820
and you got the crown of thorns and you've got it on his hands, he's nailed to the cross, but then

01:08:32.820 --> 01:08:38.820
you also have an element of the blood after he's dead being poured out at the altar. In John 19,

01:08:38.820 --> 01:08:39.780
look at verse 34.

01:08:40.500 --> 01:08:44.220
But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forth came there out blood and

01:08:44.220 --> 01:08:48.780
water, and he saw that it bare record, and his record is true, and he knoweth that he

01:08:48.780 --> 01:08:51.420
sayeth true, that ye might believe.

01:08:52.600 --> 01:08:57.720
So, according to the Bible, like, these things are picturing this, and here's one of the

01:08:57.720 --> 01:08:58.720
scriptures that's fulfilled.

01:08:58.720 --> 01:09:01.360
It says, For these things were done that the scripture should be filled, the bone of him

01:09:01.360 --> 01:09:02.360
should not be broken.

01:09:02.360 --> 01:09:05.780
And again, another scripture says, They shall look on him whom they have pierced.

01:09:05.780 --> 01:09:10.080
So these animals are being slaughtered and killed in all these different ways so that

01:09:10.080 --> 01:09:13.160
blood can be sprinkled and then all the rest of the blood can just be poured out of the

01:09:13.160 --> 01:09:14.160
bottom of the altar.

01:09:14.160 --> 01:09:18.460
Just like a picture of how Christ's blood is all poured out at the bottom of the cross.

01:09:18.460 --> 01:09:20.600
All these things seem arbitrary.

01:09:20.600 --> 01:09:26.740
weird, random, they're picturing different elements of what's going to happen with Jesus

01:09:26.740 --> 01:09:27.740
Christ.

01:09:27.740 --> 01:09:33.560
And, of course, these offerings being in different places are going to be also picturing that

01:09:33.560 --> 01:09:34.560
as well.

01:09:34.560 --> 01:09:35.760
Go if you would to chapter 2 of Leviticus.

01:09:36.900 --> 01:09:42.300
You know, obviously most of the time the Bible is making it clear too that they're supposed

01:09:42.300 --> 01:09:44.260
to be males without blemish.

01:09:44.260 --> 01:09:47.580
Sometimes they use females, but it's always supposed to be an animal sacrifice without

01:09:47.580 --> 01:09:50.580
blemish, without any problem.

01:09:50.580 --> 01:09:55.220
And that's a picture of the sinlessness of Christ, that He was in all points tempted

01:09:55.220 --> 01:09:57.260
like as we are, yet without sin.

01:09:58.000 --> 01:10:01.000
The Bible says in chapter 2, this is a meat offering.

01:10:01.000 --> 01:10:02.000
So this is a little bit different.

01:10:02.000 --> 01:10:09.300
And again, what's confusing to me is like almost all of these offerings are meat in our sense of like carnal flesh.

01:10:09.800 --> 01:10:14.280
Whereas typically when the Bible is saying a meat offering here, it's talking about bread.

01:10:14.280 --> 01:10:16.120
It's talking about like the wheat.

01:10:16.120 --> 01:10:20.440
So it seems backwards a little bit, but that's just because meat in the Bible,

01:10:20.440 --> 01:10:24.120
a lot of times in the Old Testament, is just referring to just food in general.

01:10:24.120 --> 01:10:27.800
And again, the meat here is talking about flour and bread.

01:10:27.800 --> 01:10:29.240
It says in verse 1,

01:10:29.240 --> 01:10:32.280
And when any will offer a meat offering unto the Lord,

01:10:32.280 --> 01:10:35.720
his offering shall be a fine flour, and he shall pour oil upon it,

01:10:35.720 --> 01:10:37.080
and put frankincense thereon.

01:10:37.700 --> 01:10:41.140
And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons, the priests, and he shall take thereof his handful

01:10:41.140 --> 01:10:45.660
of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof, and the

01:10:45.660 --> 01:10:50.020
priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire

01:10:50.020 --> 01:10:52.580
of a sweet savor unto the Lord.

01:10:52.580 --> 01:10:54.940
And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aaron and his sons.

01:10:54.940 --> 01:10:58.500
It is the thing most holy of the offerings of the Lord made by fire."

01:10:58.500 --> 01:11:00.340
So they take.

01:11:00.600 --> 01:11:04.700
flour, oil, frankincense, and they burn this to God.

01:11:04.700 --> 01:11:08.600
But then a portion of it is given to the priests and they consume it.

01:11:09.800 --> 01:11:12.600
It says specifically in verse number five,

01:11:12.600 --> 01:11:15.300
and if thou bring an oblation of meat offering bacon in the oven,

01:11:15.600 --> 01:11:22.300
it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil or unleavened wafers anointed with oil.

01:11:22.300 --> 01:11:23.500
So it has to be unleavened.

01:11:23.900 --> 01:11:27.100
Again, this is picturing that Christ Himself is sinless again.

01:11:27.100 --> 01:11:30.940
The leaven is a picture of sin that's mentioned in 1 Corinthians chapter number 5.

01:11:30.940 --> 01:11:34.820
A little leaven, leavened at the whole lump, and it's foreshadowing sin in the church.

01:11:34.820 --> 01:11:40.540
And the leaven is picturing the fact that Christ is sinless because He's unleavened.

01:11:40.540 --> 01:11:43.140
And so these are unleavened cakes or wafers.

01:11:43.140 --> 01:11:46.700
It's like you kind of have either an unleavened pancake.

01:11:46.800 --> 01:11:52.800
or an unleavened cracker wafer type of a bread that they're eating.

01:11:52.800 --> 01:11:58.000
So there's different styles and different methods of creating a meal here.

01:11:58.000 --> 01:12:00.000
And notice God's giving them a little bit of liberty here.

01:12:00.000 --> 01:12:02.560
They can make it into a cake style meal.

01:12:02.560 --> 01:12:05.760
They can make it into a wafer style meal.

01:12:05.760 --> 01:12:07.040
But then they are to eat it.

01:12:07.040 --> 01:12:08.240
So this is what they're constantly eating.

01:12:08.240 --> 01:12:09.040
They're eating with oil.

01:12:10.100 --> 01:12:12.700
So again, oil is often a picture of the Holy Ghost.

01:12:12.700 --> 01:12:15.300
And so of course, Christ is this unloved wafer.

01:12:15.300 --> 01:12:16.900
He's this unloved cake.

01:12:16.900 --> 01:12:19.200
He's filled with the Holy Ghost.

01:12:19.200 --> 01:12:23.100
And then you have this frankincense, which...

01:12:23.100 --> 01:12:27.000
frankincense, you know, I'm not going to be like super dogmatic about this

01:12:27.000 --> 01:12:29.000
because I think there's a lot of things this could picture.

01:12:29.100 --> 01:12:34.540
Obviously, in general, frankincense is a perfume, it's a smell, it's an odor.

01:12:34.540 --> 01:12:38.020
So in one sense, it's typically there just to show that God's pleased with the offering,

01:12:38.020 --> 01:12:40.540
that it's a sweet savor, that God is satisfied with it.

01:12:40.540 --> 01:12:47.060
I think another element is that in the gospels, there's the women, they go out and buy spices

01:12:47.060 --> 01:12:50.700
and they anoint the body of Christ, so it's for his body.

01:12:50.700 --> 01:12:53.500
And again, what we're dealing with in this meat offering is really talking about the

01:12:53.500 --> 01:12:54.740
physical aspects of Christ.

01:12:54.740 --> 01:12:57.060
We're talking about his physical body, he had no sin.

01:12:57.100 --> 01:13:02.200
He's filled with the Holy Ghost, but also his body saw no corruption.

01:13:02.200 --> 01:13:06.760
And if you think about this, Lazarus, after four days, the Bible says he stinketh, if you

01:13:06.760 --> 01:13:08.500
kind of remember.

01:13:08.500 --> 01:13:12.360
Whereas the women go and they anoint the body of Christ, and in fact he's anointed many

01:13:12.360 --> 01:13:17.400
times throughout the gospels with perfumes, with ointments, and it's to prepare for his

01:13:17.400 --> 01:13:17.900
burial.

01:13:18.500 --> 01:13:26.000
And again, the emphasis is that when Christ comes out and He resurrects, that His body saw no corruption.

01:13:26.000 --> 01:13:32.900
And so I believe the Frangansons is kind of showing like, hey, this smells good as opposed to smelling bad.

01:13:33.100 --> 01:13:38.700
And so Christ, when he resurrects, he has a sweet savor, a sweet smell,

01:13:38.700 --> 01:13:42.500
not a rotten smell, not a decomposing smell,

01:13:42.500 --> 01:13:46.500
because decomposing flesh is one of the most disgusting things you could ever smell.

01:13:46.700 --> 01:13:51.200
And so it's kind of like just picturing how Christ's body was going to be preserved

01:13:51.200 --> 01:13:55.000
and it's not only going to be preserved but it's going to be a sweet savor and it's going to be a sweet smell.

01:13:55.000 --> 01:14:00.800
And again that's because it's foreshadowing the resurrection itself, that Christ is going to resurrect

01:14:00.800 --> 01:14:03.400
and there's nothing negative about the resurrection.

01:14:03.400 --> 01:14:05.600
He has a glorified body.

01:14:05.600 --> 01:14:08.400
It's of a sweet savor. It's of a sweet smell.

01:14:08.400 --> 01:14:12.600
Because there's nothing worse than smelling something bad or smelling something rotten.

01:14:12.600 --> 01:14:14.600
And you know, that's why you take a shower.

01:14:14.700 --> 01:14:17.540
Okay.

01:14:17.540 --> 01:14:20.660
And there's nothing wrong with perfume, or there's nothing wrong with some kind of a

01:14:20.660 --> 01:14:23.660
fragrance that makes you smell, you know, pleasant.

01:14:23.660 --> 01:14:24.980
Now don't be too heavy-handed there.

01:14:24.980 --> 01:14:29.700
Okay, I'm not saying like, you know, we don't want to smell you from feet away.

01:14:29.700 --> 01:14:30.380
Okay.

01:14:31.100 --> 01:14:36.140
But, it's like, you know, some people use a slight fragrance or whatever and it smells

01:14:36.140 --> 01:14:37.140
good.

01:14:37.140 --> 01:14:40.540
You know, you walk in the perfume store and you want to gag, it's just overwhelming.

01:14:40.540 --> 01:14:41.540
And we get that.

01:14:41.540 --> 01:14:45.540
But it's just like, you know, in general, there's a good fragrance, there's a bad fragrance.

01:14:45.540 --> 01:14:50.460
And isn't it interesting that like good religion is concerned with smelling good and false

01:14:50.460 --> 01:14:52.060
religion smells horrible?

01:14:53.500 --> 01:14:56.500
Have you ever noticed that? I'm just gonna say it, okay?

01:14:56.500 --> 01:15:01.000
I've noticed that false religion and bad religion usually smells bad.

01:15:01.000 --> 01:15:06.500
Okay? Their culture, their temples, their Sikhs, or whatever.

01:15:06.500 --> 01:15:08.500
I mean, all of it just smells bad.

01:15:08.500 --> 01:15:11.500
You know, even the Orthodox, they do these weird things.

01:15:11.500 --> 01:15:16.500
Like, some Orthodox, they'll take a rotten foot and they'll mix it in water.

01:15:16.500 --> 01:15:20.500
They'll like stir water with a rotten foot and make people drink it.

01:15:21.900 --> 01:15:25.580
I've seen Hindus, they're drinking like foot water.

01:15:25.580 --> 01:15:29.580
You know, if you read the in the Old Testament, there's gonna be a portion in the Bible where it

01:15:29.580 --> 01:15:35.260
tells about the false prophets fouling water with their feet and then making people drink it.

01:15:36.460 --> 01:15:41.980
And it's just interesting how like false religion has like a physical uncleanness to it.

01:15:42.600 --> 01:15:47.160
And true biblical Christianity is trying to be clean,

01:15:47.160 --> 01:15:51.040
and it's trying to have good smells and good fragrances.

01:15:51.400 --> 01:15:54.000
You know, it's like you go to a Texas brisket restaurant

01:15:54.000 --> 01:15:55.100
and it just smells good.

01:15:55.100 --> 01:15:57.800
You smell all the meat being cooked and everything.

01:15:57.800 --> 01:16:00.700
And it's just like, I mean, you know, think about it.

01:16:00.700 --> 01:16:03.400
Where God is at, it just always smells good.

01:16:03.400 --> 01:16:06.400
I mean, you smell someone charcoaling and barbecuing,

01:16:06.400 --> 01:16:07.700
and it just smells good.

01:16:07.700 --> 01:16:10.800
You know, in my neighborhood, someone's cooking burgers,

01:16:10.800 --> 01:16:12.700
someone's cooking steak, it smells good,

01:16:12.700 --> 01:16:15.400
and you're kind of like, I want that, you know?

01:16:15.400 --> 01:16:17.500
Whereas it's like some places...

01:16:17.800 --> 01:16:23.640
Some cultures some cuisines you're like I don't want to smell your food. I don't want to smell you cooking

01:16:23.640 --> 01:16:29.040
I don't want to smell your rotting meat or your rotting flesh or the weird stuff that you're doing

01:16:29.280 --> 01:16:33.140
And you know typically your taste is associated with their smell anyways

01:16:33.500 --> 01:16:39.340
Like God gave you a nose to smell something to say oh, I shouldn't put this in my mouth because it smells bad

01:16:39.680 --> 01:16:42.100
Like that's supposed to be why you have that

01:16:42.600 --> 01:16:45.880
You know, reprobates don't know this and so they'll eat disgusting things.

01:16:45.880 --> 01:16:48.440
They're on fear factor, eating stuff your nose is telling you no.

01:16:49.440 --> 01:16:53.160
Why is it that when you have to eat something you don't like, isn't it hold your nose?

01:16:53.500 --> 01:16:56.300
It's like you have medicines, hold your dose.

01:16:56.300 --> 01:17:02.900
It's like, why would I just ignore every God given instinct, every God given intuition,

01:17:02.900 --> 01:17:08.200
everything that God's given me of like, hey, this food smells rotten and it looks rotten.

01:17:08.200 --> 01:17:09.500
It's like, eat it.

01:17:09.500 --> 01:17:15.100
It's like, well, maybe I should just eat stuff that smells good and looks good.

01:17:15.100 --> 01:17:18.100
You know, God gave me eyes and a nose for a reason and I'm going to use it.

01:17:18.100 --> 01:17:18.700
Okay.

01:17:19.100 --> 01:17:24.100
And of course, I believe that all these things are foreshadowing, again, the Gospel.

01:17:24.100 --> 01:17:26.860
The Gospel is a pleasant thing overall.

01:17:26.860 --> 01:17:29.340
Obviously, that cross and the crucifixion are not.

01:17:29.500 --> 01:17:32.300
but the specific elements of the resurrection,

01:17:32.300 --> 01:17:35.200
and He's coming out of the grave, and is a sweet savor.

01:17:35.200 --> 01:17:37.500
I mean, it would be kind of spoiling the gospel.

01:17:37.500 --> 01:17:39.600
If Christ came up, you know, resurrected from the dead,

01:17:39.600 --> 01:17:41.500
and they're like, oh wow, we can tell, you know,

01:17:41.500 --> 01:17:43.300
from the smell or something like that.

01:17:43.300 --> 01:17:45.600
No, it was a pleasant smell, it's a good smell.

01:17:45.600 --> 01:17:47.400
On the walk to Emmaus, no one's like,

01:17:47.400 --> 01:17:50.200
you kind of smell like you've been in a grave for three days, you know.

01:17:50.200 --> 01:17:53.000
So it's just like, hey, they were preserving the body.

01:17:53.000 --> 01:17:55.800
And so I think, again, that's the frankincense being put in this offering,

01:17:55.800 --> 01:17:57.500
this meat offering that God...

01:17:57.500 --> 01:18:01.580
God wanted them to enjoy the smell of these offerings.

01:18:01.580 --> 01:18:04.740
And so it smells like a good kitchen,

01:18:04.740 --> 01:18:06.700
you know, where God is having them perform

01:18:06.700 --> 01:18:08.100
all these sacrifices.

01:18:08.100 --> 01:18:09.460
And they have the oil there.

01:18:09.460 --> 01:18:10.500
They're doing a frying pan.

01:18:10.500 --> 01:18:13.140
They can cook it in an oven, frying pan, pan.

01:18:13.140 --> 01:18:15.360
They got all kinds of different cooking instruments

01:18:15.360 --> 01:18:18.020
that they're using here, but they're using fire,

01:18:18.020 --> 01:18:20.680
of course, for every one of these sacrifices.

01:18:22.500 --> 01:18:24.980
I wanna look at verse 11.

01:18:25.300 --> 01:18:28.700
No meat offering which ye shall bring unto the Lord shall be made with leaven,

01:18:28.700 --> 01:18:34.340
for ye shall burn no leaven nor any honey, and any offering of the Lord made by fire."

01:18:34.340 --> 01:18:38.780
So, two elements could not exist though, honey and leaven.

01:18:38.780 --> 01:18:41.300
So again, the leaven is a picture of sin,

01:18:41.300 --> 01:18:45.940
and while I believe the frankincense is a picture of the resurrection, why that's a sweet savor,

01:18:45.940 --> 01:18:47.340
I believe the honey...

01:18:47.500 --> 01:18:54.500
is not put in here because of what the Bible says about taking no pleasure in the crucifixion element.

01:18:54.500 --> 01:18:58.000
Okay, so let's go to Isaiah chapter 53 for a moment.

01:18:58.000 --> 01:19:04.000
Let's go to Isaiah chapter 53, because again, honey is sweet and it's enjoyable, it's pleasant.

01:19:05.500 --> 01:19:08.500
Honey could picture a lot of different things.

01:19:10.000 --> 01:19:12.000
You know, I think also honey could just...

01:19:12.800 --> 01:19:15.560
picture the carnal pleasures of this life and

01:19:16.240 --> 01:19:22.420
And again, this is not you know, the gospel is not about your best life now and the carnal pleasures of this life

01:19:22.800 --> 01:19:26.960
You know, there's nothing wrong with carnal pleasures, but this is not the gospel message

01:19:26.960 --> 01:19:31.800
You know Christ didn't die on the cross so you could have a sweet life

01:19:32.800 --> 01:19:41.400
He didn't do that to just have all of this joy and money and whatever from the carnal pleasures of life.

01:19:41.400 --> 01:19:44.880
Oh, now I get to enjoy the Cowboys more or something.

01:19:44.880 --> 01:19:51.200
And look, I don't mind football. I want to be careful. I'm not hating football.

01:19:51.200 --> 01:19:52.960
I'm not even saying football is bad.

01:19:52.960 --> 01:19:59.200
But what I don't like is how so many pastors in DFW will preach with a Cowboys jersey on.

01:20:00.800 --> 01:20:06.700
And I mean, I saw recently this week, I saw like a pastor of a church, he's got a cowboy jersey on.

01:20:06.700 --> 01:20:10.100
And I remember our pastor growing up would always say like,

01:20:10.100 --> 01:20:15.700
he said if the cowboys make it to the Super Bowl, he was going to dress in a full cowboy's uniform

01:20:15.700 --> 01:20:19.700
for the sermon on Sunday. And I'm just thinking like, why?

01:20:21.300 --> 01:20:24.300
Like, should we have NASCAR church too?

01:20:24.300 --> 01:20:30.300
Like, what if I'm just like, hey, if Jeff Gordon is gonna win, you know, I'll dress up like Jeff Gordon or something.

01:20:30.300 --> 01:20:36.300
It's like, like why? Or, you know, like pickleball or something. You know, it's like what?

01:20:36.300 --> 01:20:38.700
Like why the Cowboys?

01:20:38.700 --> 01:20:43.700
And it's like, you know, that's wrong to mix that with church.

01:20:43.700 --> 01:20:44.700
Okay?

01:20:44.700 --> 01:20:47.200
If you want to go watch a Cowboys game,

01:20:47.200 --> 01:20:48.900
if you want to go play a sport,

01:20:48.900 --> 01:20:52.100
you want to watch people drive in a circle and call it fun,

01:20:52.100 --> 01:20:54.000
you can do that all you want.

01:20:54.000 --> 01:20:56.600
But it's like that's just not church.

01:20:56.600 --> 01:20:58.200
Okay?

01:20:58.200 --> 01:20:59.700
I mean, it's not about Christ.

01:20:59.700 --> 01:21:01.300
It's not about the gospel.

01:21:01.500 --> 01:21:05.900
And so we shouldn't be mixing the honey in with his other stuff.

01:21:05.900 --> 01:21:09.060
And I believe, you know, when it talks about Christ,

01:21:09.060 --> 01:21:11.660
look at what it says in verse one of Isaiah 53,

01:21:11.660 --> 01:21:15.700
who had believed our report, and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

01:21:15.700 --> 01:21:20.300
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant and as a root out of a dry ground.

01:21:20.300 --> 01:21:22.980
He hath no form nor comeliness.

01:21:22.980 --> 01:21:26.340
And when we shall see him, there is no beauty.

01:21:26.600 --> 01:21:30.760
that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men and man of sorrows and acquainted

01:21:30.760 --> 01:21:35.960
with grief and we hid as it were our faces from him. He was despised and we esteem him not." So

01:21:36.760 --> 01:21:41.160
I believe what the Bible is trying to indicate here in Isaiah 53 is the crucifixion. This is

01:21:41.160 --> 01:21:46.440
the crucifixion and it's just saying like when Christ was on the cross.

01:21:46.600 --> 01:21:48.400
You didn't enjoy that.

01:21:48.400 --> 01:21:50.600
There was nothing enjoyable about the cross.

01:21:50.600 --> 01:21:53.000
It's to picture the ugliness of our sin

01:21:53.000 --> 01:21:55.400
and the ugliness of what Christ is doing for us.

01:21:55.400 --> 01:21:56.900
You know, some people twisted this,

01:21:56.900 --> 01:21:59.300
and I think it's blasphemous to say that Christ was not,

01:21:59.300 --> 01:22:01.100
he was like an ugly man or something,

01:22:01.100 --> 01:22:03.900
or he looked, he looked very rejected

01:22:03.900 --> 01:22:05.300
from a carnal perspective.

01:22:05.300 --> 01:22:07.000
Well, that undermines what the Bible teaches

01:22:07.000 --> 01:22:08.300
because the Bible teaches that the lambs

01:22:08.300 --> 01:22:10.700
are supposed to be like a perfect spotless lamb.

01:22:10.700 --> 01:22:12.700
So it's supposed to be the most attractive-looking lamb

01:22:12.700 --> 01:22:14.500
sacrificed not-

01:22:14.600 --> 01:22:18.000
something that has blemishes, not something that has, and in fact the Bible is really

01:22:18.000 --> 01:22:23.340
explicit that you know, if you got a humpback, you got a crooked nose, you know, whatever,

01:22:23.340 --> 01:22:25.900
you couldn't even perform the sacrifice of the Lord.

01:22:25.900 --> 01:22:31.280
You know, picturing that Christ had to have been, you know, a spotless perfect lamb without

01:22:31.280 --> 01:22:32.280
blemish.

01:22:32.280 --> 01:22:35.920
Okay, he wasn't, there wasn't something messed up about him.

01:22:35.920 --> 01:22:41.060
But obviously on the cross, with a crown of thorns shoved on his head, and being beaten

01:22:41.060 --> 01:22:42.500
and bloodied and bru-

01:22:42.600 --> 01:22:45.600
and not having eaten, like, it was an ugly picture.

01:22:45.600 --> 01:22:48.100
Because it's ugly for someone to get beaten up.

01:22:48.100 --> 01:22:52.100
It's ugly for someone to be, you know, hurt and in all these ways.

01:22:52.100 --> 01:22:56.100
And so there was no beauty that they desired of him on the cross.

01:22:56.100 --> 01:22:59.600
Why? Because he was despised, because he was rejected of men,

01:22:59.600 --> 01:23:03.600
because he's been stripped and naked and shamed and beaten and whipped

01:23:03.600 --> 01:23:06.600
and there's a crown of thorns. I mean, it's just an ugly mess.

01:23:07.700 --> 01:23:15.000
But that's not to say that Christ himself was an unattractive person or something.

01:23:15.000 --> 01:23:17.000
That's a bad way to read the text, okay?

01:23:17.000 --> 01:23:18.500
So we go back to Leviticus.

01:23:18.500 --> 01:23:23.000
When it's saying no honey, I believe it's just picturing this element of the cross,

01:23:23.000 --> 01:23:27.400
that there was no, nothing pleasant about the cross.

01:23:27.400 --> 01:23:30.100
Okay, so there's no honey mixed in because there's nothing.

01:23:30.100 --> 01:23:32.700
And again, it's an unleavened cake.

01:23:32.700 --> 01:23:34.700
It's an unleavened wafer.

01:23:34.900 --> 01:23:40.900
Again, leaven and honey is really where you kind of, you dial in the pleasure elements.

01:23:40.900 --> 01:23:43.460
You know, it's like the fluffy pancake.

01:23:43.460 --> 01:23:46.540
The fluffy pancake makes it kind of special, you know.

01:23:46.540 --> 01:23:51.000
In fact, there's a restaurant in Oklahoma City that we would eat at as a breakfast place,

01:23:51.000 --> 01:23:54.960
and they have the thickest pancakes like I've ever had, and they were delicious.

01:23:54.960 --> 01:23:55.960
And I don't even like pancakes.

01:23:55.960 --> 01:23:59.600
Like, I'm not a pancake person, but these pancakes were exceptional.

01:23:59.600 --> 01:24:02.560
And it was, you know, they definitely used leaven, okay?

01:24:02.560 --> 01:24:02.900
There was no.

01:24:02.900 --> 01:24:04.700
question of whether they're using lemon.

01:24:05.100 --> 01:24:08.000
And of course, they're also using sugar or something, you

01:24:08.000 --> 01:24:11.400
know, similar to what honey is bringing into the recipe is

01:24:11.400 --> 01:24:13.700
bringing in, you know, that pleasant aspect.

01:24:13.700 --> 01:24:16.900
But again, with Christ on the cross, it's an unpleasant

01:24:16.900 --> 01:24:17.300
picture.

01:24:17.600 --> 01:24:21.100
It's a sinless filled with the Holy Spirit.

01:24:21.500 --> 01:24:27.600
Christ that is being beaten and bloodied and bruised and bloods being sprinkled and spattered and again

01:24:27.600 --> 01:24:33.340
You know in some senses. This is kind of an ugly process. You know slaughtering animals and blood being everywhere

01:24:33.440 --> 01:24:35.620
That's not really that enjoyable either

01:24:36.400 --> 01:24:40.400
And it's just to illustrate a lot of these elements with Christ.

01:24:40.400 --> 01:24:41.400
Look at verse 13 now. It says,

01:24:41.400 --> 01:24:45.400
In every oblation of thy meat offering, shalt thou season with salt,

01:24:45.400 --> 01:24:48.400
neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking

01:24:48.400 --> 01:24:51.400
from thy meat offering with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.

01:24:51.400 --> 01:24:54.400
So every meat offering has salt on it.

01:24:54.400 --> 01:24:57.400
Now salt, carnally speaking, it preserves meat.

01:24:57.400 --> 01:24:59.400
It'll help it last longer.

01:24:59.700 --> 01:25:02.660
And in fact, many meats are salted heavily,

01:25:02.660 --> 01:25:04.980
so they just have a very long shelf life.

01:25:04.980 --> 01:25:06.620
You look at deli meats,

01:25:06.620 --> 01:25:09.340
you look at things like pepperoni and salami,

01:25:09.340 --> 01:25:11.940
they've been salinated in a way

01:25:11.940 --> 01:25:15.060
to where they can be preserved for a very long time.

01:25:15.060 --> 01:25:19.500
A beef jerky, salt is helping in this preservation element.

01:25:19.500 --> 01:25:20.340
So if you think about it,

01:25:20.340 --> 01:25:24.100
it's something that should die, rot and decompose.

01:25:24.300 --> 01:25:28.300
Salt's keeping it from dying, rotting, and decomposing.

01:25:28.300 --> 01:25:31.300
And so its shelf life has been extended.

01:25:31.300 --> 01:25:34.300
So I would argue this is a picture of grace.

01:25:34.300 --> 01:25:38.300
Because the meat should have expired, but it's not expiring when it should,

01:25:38.300 --> 01:25:40.300
so it's getting a grace period.

01:25:40.300 --> 01:25:44.300
And so in a lot of ways, salt pictures grace itself.

01:25:44.300 --> 01:25:49.300
And so every meat is pictured with grace, and of course we're saved by grace.

01:25:49.900 --> 01:25:54.260
We don't get what we deserve, you know, and of course every sacrifice has to have the

01:25:54.260 --> 01:25:57.300
salt because every sacrifice is a picture of grace.

01:25:57.300 --> 01:26:00.340
Because there's nothing about the gospel and there's nothing about Christ that isn't with

01:26:00.340 --> 01:26:01.940
grace.

01:26:01.940 --> 01:26:04.740
It's all about the grace and how we're saved by grace.

01:26:04.740 --> 01:26:06.780
We're saved by salt in a sense.

01:26:06.780 --> 01:26:09.860
If the salt loses its savor, it's good for nothing.

01:26:10.200 --> 01:26:14.520
And of course, salt, you know, without any grace, is just kind of meaningless.

01:26:14.520 --> 01:26:18.600
And that would mean what? Any salvation that's not by grace is meaningless.

01:26:19.900 --> 01:26:22.900
Any sacrifice without grace is meaningless, okay?

01:26:22.900 --> 01:26:25.400
It's the grace that's the needed element.

01:26:25.400 --> 01:26:29.400
And you could even take another element beyond just the gospel.

01:26:29.400 --> 01:26:31.900
Is it like Christians without grace are kind of meaningless too?

01:26:31.900 --> 01:26:36.400
Because the Bible says if you don't have charity, then you're nothing.

01:26:36.400 --> 01:26:40.400
If you're doing things without charity, then it's just kind of meaningless.

01:26:40.400 --> 01:26:41.900
And so we need to have grace.

01:26:41.900 --> 01:26:47.900
And of course we can take that element into our daily lives.

01:26:47.900 --> 01:26:52.540
just the gospel and getting saved. In chapter 3, look at verse 16. I'm just going to kind

01:26:52.540 --> 01:26:55.980
of skip around just a few more verses that I think are interesting, but it says in verse

01:26:55.980 --> 01:26:59.760
16, the priest shall burn them upon the altar. It is the food of the offering made by fire

01:26:59.760 --> 01:27:05.080
for a sweet savor. All the fat is the Lord. So all the fat was supposed to be burned.

01:27:06.300 --> 01:27:12.620
Now again, I think that this is a, it's not so much like overly literal, like obviously

01:27:12.620 --> 01:27:17.780
in a rib eye or some portions of meat there's these like tiny little bits of fat that are

01:27:17.780 --> 01:27:18.780
wedged in there.

01:27:18.780 --> 01:27:22.980
This is talking about the big portions of fat and it very clearly articulates these,

01:27:22.980 --> 01:27:23.980
okay.

01:27:23.980 --> 01:27:27.860
So you're just taking all the main sections of fat and you're taking them all out of

01:27:27.860 --> 01:27:31.620
the offering system and it's all the Lord's.

01:27:31.620 --> 01:27:33.780
And again, I believe the fat is a picture of sin.

01:27:33.900 --> 01:27:37.500
Okay, it's a picture of sin and how all the fat is burnt

01:27:37.500 --> 01:27:41.980
and all the fat is consumed because Christ really satisfied all of our sin.

01:27:42.940 --> 01:27:46.940
The Bible says the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.

01:27:47.200 --> 01:27:55.700
And so just all the fat, all that excess is just completely burned, is completely given to the Lord, and is completely satisfied by God.

01:27:55.700 --> 01:28:00.900
Whereas you see the false prophets, people like Eli's sons, they love to eat the fat.

01:28:00.900 --> 01:28:07.700
And it's just kind of a picture of how they don't want, you know, the actual satisfaction for their sins, or the atonement for their sins,

01:28:07.700 --> 01:28:14.700
and they just indulge in sin, and they allow themselves to become excess because of the fat.

01:28:15.100 --> 01:28:18.100
Look at chapter number four, verse 10.

01:28:18.100 --> 01:28:19.100
It says,

01:28:19.100 --> 01:28:22.100
And as it was taken off the bullock of the sacrifice of peace offerings,

01:28:22.100 --> 01:28:25.100
the priest shall burn them upon the altar of the burn offering,

01:28:25.100 --> 01:28:30.100
and the skin of the bullock and all his flesh and his head and with his legs and his inwards and his dung,

01:28:30.100 --> 01:28:34.100
even the whole bullock shall he carry forth without the camp unto a clean place,

01:28:34.100 --> 01:28:38.100
where the ashes are poured out and burned on the wood with the fire.

01:28:39.300 --> 01:28:46.180
Again, I'm not reading everything here, so you kind of have to just roll with me, but

01:28:46.180 --> 01:28:49.580
all the N words were burnt at the altar.

01:28:49.580 --> 01:28:55.020
All the outward portion was then taken outside the camp and it was burned separately.

01:28:55.020 --> 01:28:59.140
So go to Hebrews chapter 13, if you would, go to Hebrews chapter 13.

01:28:59.140 --> 01:29:03.380
This is the picture, two elements of the burning.

01:29:03.380 --> 01:29:06.180
Now, why is it the N word's burnt?

01:29:06.500 --> 01:29:09.700
in that altar there, because I believe that's the picture of hell.

01:29:09.700 --> 01:29:14.020
And again, what went to hell? Christ's body didn't go to hell.

01:29:14.020 --> 01:29:17.940
His soul went to hell, okay? Picturing the inward part.

01:29:17.940 --> 01:29:21.460
But the outward part was taken without the camp,

01:29:21.460 --> 01:29:25.620
and this is told explicitly in the book of Hebrews that this is picturing the cross.

01:29:25.620 --> 01:29:28.420
So in Hebrews chapter 13 verse 10 it says we have an altar.

01:29:28.500 --> 01:29:32.100
where they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.

01:29:32.100 --> 01:29:35.700
For the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought into the sanctuary

01:29:35.700 --> 01:29:38.900
by the high priest for sin are burned without the camp.

01:29:38.900 --> 01:29:42.340
Wherefore, Jesus also that he might sanctify the people with his own blood,

01:29:42.340 --> 01:29:47.860
suffered without the gate, let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp bearing his approach."

01:29:47.860 --> 01:29:50.500
So it kind of says like, oh just like they would take the skin.

01:29:51.400 --> 01:29:55.480
and the head and they took that and they put that and did it without the camp.

01:29:55.480 --> 01:30:00.280
But the N words were burned there at the altar. So again, his soul went to hell,

01:30:00.280 --> 01:30:04.760
but outwardly he went to the cross. He was outside the city. They took him without and they put him

01:30:04.760 --> 01:30:09.400
on the cross. And that's where his skin and his head and whatever were suffering. Because

01:30:09.400 --> 01:30:12.600
let me tell you something, when you're getting whipped and you're getting a crowd of thorns

01:30:12.600 --> 01:30:15.480
and you're getting nails pierced, you know what's hurting? Your skin.

01:30:16.100 --> 01:30:17.400
And it's hurting your head.

01:30:17.400 --> 01:30:19.700
It's hurting the outward parts of the body.

01:30:19.700 --> 01:30:21.980
But the inward parts, the soul, that's

01:30:21.980 --> 01:30:25.140
where the fire from hell is actually the pains of death.

01:30:25.140 --> 01:30:27.060
OK, so that's why it's two separate things.

01:30:27.060 --> 01:30:28.640
Like, you kind of wonder, like, why not just

01:30:28.640 --> 01:30:29.700
burn it all right there?

01:30:30.800 --> 01:30:32.540
Couldn't they have just done that?

01:30:32.540 --> 01:30:36.940
Why go through all the hassle and all the effort of burning the inside here, then taking

01:30:36.940 --> 01:30:38.540
the outside out and the burning?

01:30:38.540 --> 01:30:41.100
Because it's picturing different elements of the sacrifice of Christ.

01:30:41.100 --> 01:30:45.740
Not only did he go without the camp, not only did he get crucified, not only is his skin,

01:30:45.740 --> 01:30:52.100
his body, and his physical pain that he suffered, he also has the inward suffering of hell and

01:30:52.100 --> 01:30:54.380
the burning that was there as well.

01:30:54.380 --> 01:30:58.460
So inward burn on the altar, outward burn outside the camp, and then it's foreshadowed

01:30:58.460 --> 01:30:58.800
here.

01:30:58.800 --> 01:31:03.480
chapter 5, look at verse 15. Chapter 5 verse 15. And I know this morning I'm not, you know,

01:31:03.480 --> 01:31:09.520
getting up and screaming and yelling about how wicked and feminist our world is, but

01:31:09.520 --> 01:31:14.520
you know, hopefully you like the Bible. Okay. Come tonight, alright? That's all I have to

01:31:19.600 --> 01:31:22.600
But it says in chapter 5 verse 15.

01:31:26.300 --> 01:31:29.300
If a soul commit a trespass, a sin through ignorance,

01:31:29.300 --> 01:31:30.800
in the holy things of the Lord,

01:31:30.800 --> 01:31:33.100
then he shall bring for his trespass in the Lord a ram

01:31:33.100 --> 01:31:36.100
without blemish under the flocks, or out of the flocks,

01:31:36.100 --> 01:31:37.900
with thy estimation by shekels of silver

01:31:37.900 --> 01:31:40.500
after the shekel of the sanctuary for a trespass offering.

01:31:40.500 --> 01:31:43.100
And he shall make amends for the harm

01:31:43.100 --> 01:31:44.800
that he hath done in the holy thing,

01:31:44.800 --> 01:31:47.000
and shall add the fifth part thereto,

01:31:47.000 --> 01:31:48.200
and give it unto the priest,

01:31:48.200 --> 01:31:50.000
and the priest shall make an atonement for him

01:31:50.000 --> 01:31:51.500
with the ram of the trespass offering,

01:31:51.500 --> 01:31:52.200
and it shall be forgiven him."

01:31:52.200 --> 01:31:52.900
So...

01:31:53.100 --> 01:31:56.820
In chapter one we dealt with the burnt offering, chapter two is a meat offering, chapter three

01:31:56.820 --> 01:32:01.500
is a peace offering, chapter four is dealing, and chapter five are kind of dealing with

01:32:01.500 --> 01:32:06.440
trespass offerings and ignorance offerings and sin offerings, and it's saying if someone

01:32:06.440 --> 01:32:12.140
did some ignorant offering, like an ignorant sin, I'm sorry, they sinned through ignorance

01:32:12.140 --> 01:32:16.940
or this trespass through ignorance, then not only do they have to give the animal sacrifice,

01:32:16.940 --> 01:32:18.940
They have to give a fifth portion.

01:32:19.300 --> 01:32:23.000
of shekels of money to the priests.

01:32:23.000 --> 01:32:25.100
And notice it said in verse 15,

01:32:25.100 --> 01:32:29.200
with thy estimation by shekels of the silver

01:32:29.200 --> 01:32:30.800
after the shekel of the sanctuary.

01:32:30.800 --> 01:32:33.800
So they figure out,

01:32:35.200 --> 01:32:36.600
hey, I sinned.

01:32:36.600 --> 01:32:38.400
And they realize they sinned.

01:32:38.400 --> 01:32:39.600
Then they bring the animal.

01:32:39.600 --> 01:32:40.500
When they bring the animal,

01:32:40.500 --> 01:32:41.600
they have to then figure out

01:32:41.600 --> 01:32:43.400
how much does this animal cost.

01:32:44.000 --> 01:32:46.320
And so, I don't know the numbers, it doesn't matter.

01:32:46.320 --> 01:32:48.320
Let's just say it was a thousand shekels or whatever.

01:32:48.320 --> 01:32:51.480
They would say, okay, this animal's a thousand shekels.

01:32:51.480 --> 01:32:53.600
And then they would say, okay, then I have to give

01:32:53.600 --> 01:32:56.520
a fifth of that in money also.

01:32:56.800 --> 01:33:00.800
So, if it was a thousand, you're giving a fifth, that's 20%.

01:33:00.800 --> 01:33:03.500
So, I'm trying to use easy numbers, that would be what?

01:33:03.500 --> 01:33:04.500
200 shekels, okay?

01:33:04.500 --> 01:33:08.900
So, he has to give 200 shekels with it, but they're figuring out the price of this animal

01:33:08.900 --> 01:33:10.000
to end up giving this.

01:33:10.000 --> 01:33:14.000
Look at chapter 6, and let's read some more about this.

01:33:14.600 --> 01:33:16.200
It says in the Lord's bacon of Moses saying,

01:33:16.200 --> 01:33:18.600
if a soul sinned and committed trespass against the Lord

01:33:18.600 --> 01:33:20.720
and lie unto his neighbor,

01:33:20.720 --> 01:33:23.160
and that which was delivered him to keep,

01:33:23.160 --> 01:33:27.200
or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence,

01:33:27.200 --> 01:33:28.840
or hath deceived his neighbor,

01:33:28.840 --> 01:33:31.680
or hath found that which was lost and lieth concerning it,

01:33:31.680 --> 01:33:33.280
and sweareth falsely.

01:33:33.280 --> 01:33:37.300
And any of all these that a man do is sinning therein,

01:33:37.300 --> 01:33:39.720
then it shall be because he hath sinned and is guilty

01:33:39.720 --> 01:33:42.200
that he is restored that which he took violently away.

01:33:42.300 --> 01:33:44.540
or the thing which he hath deceitfully gotten,

01:33:44.540 --> 01:33:47.580
or that which was delivered him to keep,

01:33:47.580 --> 01:33:50.540
or the lost thing which he found,

01:33:50.540 --> 01:33:54.540
or all that about which he hath sworn falsely,

01:33:54.540 --> 01:33:56.620
he shall even restore it in the principle,

01:33:56.620 --> 01:33:59.260
and shall add the fifth part more thereto,

01:33:59.260 --> 01:34:01.020
and give it unto him,

01:34:01.020 --> 01:34:04.300
to whom it appertaineth in the day of his trespass offering.

01:34:04.800 --> 01:34:06.560
And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord,

01:34:06.560 --> 01:34:08.080
and it ran without blemish out of the flock,

01:34:08.080 --> 01:34:09.800
with thy estimation for a trespass offering."

01:34:09.800 --> 01:34:12.120
Notice this, unto the priest.

01:34:12.120 --> 01:34:17.120
So what's interesting about this is you have a situation

01:34:19.040 --> 01:34:20.200
where you not only give the animal sacrifice,

01:34:20.200 --> 01:34:23.880
you have this shekels of silver being given to him.

01:34:23.880 --> 01:34:26.500
And the first portion is he didn't do it.

01:34:26.800 --> 01:34:29.400
He didn't understand it was a sin through ignorance.

01:34:29.400 --> 01:34:32.900
Okay, he whisked it not as the Bible says in verse 17.

01:34:32.900 --> 01:34:35.200
He whisked it not meaning he didn't know.

01:34:35.200 --> 01:34:37.800
He was guilty, but he didn't understand it.

01:34:37.800 --> 01:34:41.300
And I believe this is foreshadowing Judas Iscariot.

01:34:41.300 --> 01:34:44.900
Okay, because Judas Iscariot, he

01:34:45.000 --> 01:34:52.000
goes in covenants with the priest and is given 30 shekels of silver to betray the Lord Jesus

01:34:52.000 --> 01:34:53.000
Christ.

01:34:53.000 --> 01:34:54.000
Okay.

01:34:54.000 --> 01:35:00.520
But then later when he after the after the crucifixion, Judas ends up coming to himself

01:35:00.520 --> 01:35:03.360
and realizing he's betrayed innocent blood.

01:35:03.700 --> 01:35:09.400
So in a sense, you can see like, oh, he didn't realize what he was even doing exactly.

01:35:09.400 --> 01:35:13.000
And he comes and he gives that money back to the priests.

01:35:13.500 --> 01:35:17.300
And so in the same sense, it's like this guy sends through ignorance

01:35:17.300 --> 01:35:23.800
and then he gives this shekels of money to the priest that they estimated the value of this animal.

01:35:23.800 --> 01:35:26.300
And again, they ask that they give a price of Christ.

01:35:26.300 --> 01:35:29.800
Of course, it's 30 shekels in the New Testament is what we understand.

01:35:29.800 --> 01:35:32.000
And it's just kind of an interesting foreshadowing.

01:35:32.000 --> 01:35:34.800
But think about what Judas did.

01:35:35.300 --> 01:35:37.700
And then it's interesting when you read chapter 6 again,

01:35:37.700 --> 01:35:42.400
because it's interesting thinking about like what it's saying would be the reason why you would have to give money.

01:35:42.400 --> 01:35:46.200
And then it's like, what did Judas do? Because it says here in verse number 2,

01:35:46.200 --> 01:35:50.800
if the soul sinned, it committed trespass against the Lord and lie unto his neighbor.

01:35:50.800 --> 01:35:53.700
Oh, that's what Judas did. He lied unto Jesus, didn't he?

01:35:54.300 --> 01:35:58.020
that which he was delivered him to keep he was supposed to keep the Lord Jesus Christ safe

01:35:58.020 --> 01:36:05.620
But he lies and he delivers them unto the Romans or in fellowship. I mean he comes and betrays him with a kiss

01:36:06.580 --> 01:36:09.400
He's lying to him. He's deceiving him in a fellowship

01:36:09.920 --> 01:36:14.100
If you keep reading it says or in a thing taken away by violence

01:36:14.100 --> 01:36:18.880
Oh, you mean like the Roman soldiers coming with swords to take away the Lord Jesus Christ

01:36:19.600 --> 01:36:21.440
And then it says, we're at the scene his neighbor.

01:36:21.440 --> 01:36:25.280
Again, the betrayal of the kiss by Judas Iscariot.

01:36:25.700 --> 01:36:30.940
or have found that which was lost and lieth concerning it and sweareth falsely.

01:36:30.940 --> 01:36:34.900
Of course it's like Christ is kind of coming and it's like a secret, the gospel has been

01:36:34.900 --> 01:36:38.720
lost and then Judas of course is like lying about this.

01:36:38.720 --> 01:36:43.260
It's like it's interesting how all these people that are guilty are just like Judas, a scariet

01:36:43.260 --> 01:36:46.340
and that's the specific sacrifice that you have to add money.

01:36:46.340 --> 01:36:49.420
You have to add the sickles of the sanctuary and of course then that money goes to the

01:36:49.420 --> 01:36:53.700
priest in the same way the money of Judas went back to the priest and then the money

01:36:53.700 --> 01:36:56.900
bought Potterfield's Field with that money.

01:36:56.900 --> 01:37:01.900
And so it's just kind of interesting how a lot of these sacrifices are kind of picturing

01:37:01.900 --> 01:37:04.620
elements of the gospel message.

01:37:04.620 --> 01:37:07.280
Look at verse 12.

01:37:07.280 --> 01:37:09.920
It says, in the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it.

01:37:09.920 --> 01:37:11.220
It shall not be put out.

01:37:11.700 --> 01:37:16.000
And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning and lay burnt offering in order upon it,

01:37:16.000 --> 01:37:19.200
and he shall burn thereof, there on the fat of the peace offering."

01:37:19.200 --> 01:37:23.800
So verse 13, the fire shall ever be burning upon the altar and it shall never go out.

01:37:23.800 --> 01:37:25.600
This picture is again, hell is forever.

01:37:26.800 --> 01:37:28.800
Hell will never cease.

01:37:28.800 --> 01:37:30.700
So there's an eternal nature.

01:37:30.700 --> 01:37:33.000
There was a sacrifice though every morning.

01:37:33.500 --> 01:37:38.100
So you can see how hell is forever, but Christ sacrifices forever.

01:37:38.100 --> 01:37:42.500
And it covers that, and so we'll never taste of death.

01:37:42.500 --> 01:37:44.300
In verse 16, it says,

01:37:44.300 --> 01:37:48.400
In the remainder thereof shall Aaron and his sons eat with unleavened bread.

01:37:48.400 --> 01:37:52.400
Shall it be eaten in the holy place in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation,

01:37:52.400 --> 01:37:54.400
they shall eat it. So they're eating this flour.

01:37:54.400 --> 01:37:56.000
They're eating this bread meal.

01:37:56.500 --> 01:37:58.700
And it's really specific in these chapters.

01:37:58.700 --> 01:38:02.500
When it's talking about eating, it's usually talking about the bread, the wafer, or the cake.

01:38:02.500 --> 01:38:06.800
So they're eating this, and it's a sweet savor, it's a memorial.

01:38:06.800 --> 01:38:09.900
So to satisfy you going to hell...

01:38:10.400 --> 01:38:12.400
You eat the wafer, in a sense.

01:38:12.400 --> 01:38:13.600
And what is that foreshadowing?

01:38:13.600 --> 01:38:16.500
That's picturing how we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ

01:38:16.500 --> 01:38:17.800
and His death, birth, and resurrection,

01:38:17.800 --> 01:38:20.300
and that satisfies us from going to hell.

01:38:20.300 --> 01:38:22.000
This is brought up in John chapter 6.

01:38:22.000 --> 01:38:24.800
Jesus Christ said that you had to eat His flesh

01:38:24.800 --> 01:38:26.500
so that you could have life in you.

01:38:26.500 --> 01:38:28.300
You eat food to have life.

01:38:28.300 --> 01:38:32.500
You eat food to survive, to be sustained another day.

01:38:32.800 --> 01:38:36.800
And in the same way, we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and that gives us eternal life.

01:38:36.800 --> 01:38:41.600
It's a bread that you don't have to eat every day, but in the same sense, you have to eat it for life.

01:38:41.600 --> 01:38:46.000
And we do this, we believe, and that's what gives us salvation.

01:38:46.000 --> 01:38:49.520
But notice in verse 17, it shall not be baking with leaven.

01:38:50.320 --> 01:38:53.600
I have given unto them for their portion of my offerings made by fire,

01:38:53.600 --> 01:38:56.040
is most holy as a sin offering and as a trespass offering.

01:38:56.300 --> 01:38:58.000
It cannot have leaven.

01:38:58.000 --> 01:38:58.800
Picturing what?

01:38:58.800 --> 01:39:02.800
Salvation is not faith and works.

01:39:02.800 --> 01:39:04.500
It is faith alone.

01:39:04.500 --> 01:39:07.100
And why is it not works by leaven here?

01:39:07.100 --> 01:39:12.300
Because any offering that we have of ourselves is coming leavened

01:39:12.300 --> 01:39:14.200
because we are sinful.

01:39:14.600 --> 01:39:16.600
We have fallen short.

01:39:16.600 --> 01:39:22.000
So therefore our works cannot save us and we can't mix in what Christ did,

01:39:22.000 --> 01:39:26.000
His wafer with our wafer because our wafer is leavened.

01:39:26.000 --> 01:39:29.000
And He doesn't accept any offering with leaven in it.

01:39:29.000 --> 01:39:32.000
So guess what? Your offering is not accepted.

01:39:32.000 --> 01:39:34.200
Cain's offering is not accepted.

01:39:34.200 --> 01:39:38.400
Any offering that is tainted with leaven is not accepted of God.

01:39:38.400 --> 01:39:41.800
That's why it has to be an unleavened wafer, which is only Christ.

01:39:42.300 --> 01:39:44.500
You know, I like this verse and I use it a lot in my soul.

01:39:44.500 --> 01:39:49.300
I'll go over to Romans chapter 5, and I think this is an important point.

01:39:49.300 --> 01:39:57.300
But, you know, in Romans chapter number 5, I'm trying to help people understand the two elements,

01:39:57.300 --> 01:40:03.300
that salvation is a free gift, but also that, you know, as we illustrate typically in the first point

01:40:03.300 --> 01:40:07.300
of our gospel presentation, that, you know, there's none righteous, no not one. Okay?

01:40:07.500 --> 01:40:11.580
But then the Bible brings up that there is one righteous, look at verse 18.

01:40:11.580 --> 01:40:13.340
And I'm just starting in the middle of the verse,

01:40:13.340 --> 01:40:20.460
even so by the righteousness of one, the free gift came upon all men on the justification of life.

01:40:20.460 --> 01:40:23.660
I usually in my gospel presentation I'll just read that portion and I'll say this,

01:40:23.660 --> 01:40:25.420
who was the only one that was righteous?

01:40:26.460 --> 01:40:28.460
And pretty much without fail they'll say it was Jesus.

01:40:29.340 --> 01:40:31.180
It's by the righteousness of one.

01:40:31.900 --> 01:40:34.780
that the free gift came upon all men in the just situation of life.

01:40:34.780 --> 01:40:35.900
We can't screw that up.

01:40:36.460 --> 01:40:39.820
We can't misunderstand that because clearly there's only one that was righteous

01:40:40.460 --> 01:40:43.500
and it's a free gift and it comes to everyone.

01:40:43.500 --> 01:40:49.660
So everyone is offered to be saved by the free gift of what Christ did and his righteousness.

01:40:49.660 --> 01:40:52.140
Our offering with leaven is not accepted by God.

01:40:53.200 --> 01:40:56.940
It's not us and him, it's the righteousness of one.

01:40:56.940 --> 01:41:02.940
There's one wafer, there's one cracker, there's one thing that you metaphorically eat.

01:41:02.940 --> 01:41:07.440
It's believing on the Lord Jesus Christ and that gives us our salvation.

01:41:07.440 --> 01:41:09.940
And if you go back, look at verse 18 now.

01:41:10.900 --> 01:41:15.400
So in verse 16, they eat the wafer, 17 is not with 11, 18, notice this,

01:41:15.400 --> 01:41:18.300
and all the males among the children of Aaron shall eat of it,

01:41:18.300 --> 01:41:22.400
it shall be a statute for ever in generations concerning the offerings of the Lord made by fire,

01:41:22.400 --> 01:41:27.300
everyone that toucheth them shall be holy.

01:41:27.300 --> 01:41:30.200
So notice when you do this, you become holy.

01:41:30.200 --> 01:41:34.300
And that's a picture of the imputed righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ

01:41:34.300 --> 01:41:37.300
that comes on to you when you believe on Him.

01:41:37.400 --> 01:41:42.600
When you don't accept the sacrifice of Levin, when you're just trusting him alone,

01:41:42.600 --> 01:41:44.000
that's what makes you holy.

01:41:44.000 --> 01:41:45.500
Just simply touching it.

01:41:45.500 --> 01:41:47.400
And it made me think of a story in the Gospel.

01:41:47.400 --> 01:41:48.800
Go to Matthew chapter number 9.

01:41:48.800 --> 01:41:49.800
Go to Matthew chapter number 9.

01:41:49.800 --> 01:41:52.200
This is going to tie everything to what I'm saying together,

01:41:52.200 --> 01:41:54.700
to where it's clear of what I'm saying, okay?

01:41:54.700 --> 01:41:58.900
Oh, you're just saying that eating the cracker is just faith alone.

01:41:59.100 --> 01:42:03.800
Or you're just saying doing these things is faith alone or faith is what's the spiritual

01:42:03.800 --> 01:42:04.800
element.

01:42:04.800 --> 01:42:05.800
That's what the Bible says, okay?

01:42:05.800 --> 01:42:06.800
Let me show you.

01:42:06.800 --> 01:42:09.920
Matthew chapter 9, look at verse number 20.

01:42:09.920 --> 01:42:15.400
And behold, a woman, which was diseased, with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind

01:42:15.400 --> 01:42:17.400
him and touched the hem of his garment.

01:42:17.400 --> 01:42:21.760
So just like they touched this and they became holy, she comes and touches Jesus.

01:42:21.760 --> 01:42:26.720
Verse 21, for she said within herself, if I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

01:42:27.200 --> 01:42:31.040
So she's made whole by touching the garment.

01:42:31.140 --> 01:42:33.640
But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her,

01:42:33.740 --> 01:42:35.840
he said, daughter, be of good comfort.

01:42:35.940 --> 01:42:38.280
Thy faith hath made thee whole.

01:42:38.380 --> 01:42:40.020
And the woman was made whole from that hour.

01:42:40.120 --> 01:42:42.720
So notice, it wasn't just touching Jesus,

01:42:42.820 --> 01:42:44.180
or touching bread, or doing it.

01:42:44.280 --> 01:42:46.020
It's not these carnal things that save you.

01:42:46.120 --> 01:42:48.100
It was the faith that saved them.

01:42:48.300 --> 01:42:50.500
That's what it means to eat the cracker.

01:42:50.500 --> 01:42:54.500
That's what it means when Jesus is saying in John chapter number six to eat His flesh.

01:42:54.500 --> 01:42:59.300
That's what it means when it's talking about touching the garment or touching the bread and being made holy.

01:42:59.300 --> 01:43:03.500
It's putting your faith in Jesus Christ and that makes you whole.

01:43:03.500 --> 01:43:05.100
That makes you righteous.

01:43:05.100 --> 01:43:06.700
That makes you right with God.

01:43:06.700 --> 01:43:08.300
That gives you the atonement.

01:43:08.300 --> 01:43:09.900
That's what causes you to go to heaven.

01:43:09.900 --> 01:43:12.100
It's not anything you did physically.

01:43:12.100 --> 01:43:14.500
It's your faith that saves you.

01:43:14.500 --> 01:43:15.700
And it couldn't be clearer.

01:43:16.800 --> 01:43:21.160
I want to go to a couple more verses and chapter 6 will be done for this morning, but

01:43:21.160 --> 01:43:24.320
you know I hope that maybe when you're reading the Old Testament

01:43:24.320 --> 01:43:28.560
you won't be discouraged on Leviticus. You'll think like, hey I want to behold

01:43:28.560 --> 01:43:30.040
wondrous things out of thy law.

01:43:30.040 --> 01:43:34.560
Because there's something, you know for the person that's not saved it's

01:43:34.560 --> 01:43:36.080
going to be a really boring session.

01:43:36.080 --> 01:43:39.920
Okay. I'm going to be like, man just killing animals again

01:43:39.920 --> 01:43:41.920
and dung and heads and...

01:43:42.200 --> 01:43:43.800
crackers and whatever.

01:43:43.800 --> 01:43:45.600
But you know what, for us that are saved,

01:43:45.600 --> 01:43:49.400
there's a whole other layer that's really exciting and really enjoyable,

01:43:49.400 --> 01:43:51.400
and it's wonderful that we get to read through it.

01:43:51.400 --> 01:43:53.100
And again, there's nothing wrong with the law,

01:43:53.100 --> 01:43:56.800
and I'm not saying that you can't enjoy it, even carnally.

01:43:56.800 --> 01:43:59.100
But let's just be honest, this is a little dry,

01:43:59.100 --> 01:44:02.100
but for those of us that are saved, it comes alive.

01:44:02.100 --> 01:44:04.700
And of course, you know, that's kind of just the,

01:44:04.700 --> 01:44:07.700
their communion is dead and dry.

01:44:07.700 --> 01:44:09.700
Ours is alive because it has meaning.

01:44:09.800 --> 01:44:13.000
You know, we're not drinking booze, okay, like the Catholics.

01:44:13.000 --> 01:44:17.880
We're not going to go have service every Sunday morning and drink booze.

01:44:17.880 --> 01:44:20.960
How is that making you go to heaven?

01:44:20.960 --> 01:44:24.840
Like if you're Catholic, you believe you have to perform the Eucharist to go to heaven.

01:44:24.840 --> 01:44:29.480
You believe a cracker and alcohol are going to get you into heaven.

01:44:29.480 --> 01:44:31.600
It's not faith that saves you.

01:44:31.600 --> 01:44:34.640
And it's faith in Christ's sacrifice and what He did for us that saves us.

01:44:35.100 --> 01:44:37.740
So in chapter 6 it says in verse 23,

01:44:37.740 --> 01:44:41.180
for every meat offering for the priest shall be wholly burnt, it shall not be eaten.

01:44:42.940 --> 01:44:48.540
So you know again a lot of these the sacrifices were wholly burnt and I believe that's to show

01:44:48.540 --> 01:44:51.500
that Christ died for the full offering for sin.

01:44:52.100 --> 01:44:56.180
You know, some secular, some weird people will say Christ didn't really die.

01:44:56.180 --> 01:45:00.020
No, He really died and that's the picture that the whole burnt offering

01:45:00.020 --> 01:45:03.900
and so he took the whole picture for us. Verse 28,

01:45:03.900 --> 01:45:07.940
But the earthen vessel, wherein it was saught in, shall be broken, and if it be

01:45:07.940 --> 01:45:09.700
saught in a brazen pot, it shall be

01:45:09.700 --> 01:45:12.740
scoured and rinsed in water. Now

01:45:12.740 --> 01:45:14.800
this is kinda interesting but...

01:45:15.000 --> 01:45:18.500
You could cook some of these things in different vessels.

01:45:18.500 --> 01:45:21.900
An earthen vessel would be like a clay type of a pot,

01:45:21.900 --> 01:45:25.300
like a dust pot or something, and a brazen pot.

01:45:25.500 --> 01:45:28.100
is obviously a metal type pot.

01:45:28.100 --> 01:45:30.300
And again, from a cleanliness perspective,

01:45:30.300 --> 01:45:32.300
you know, if you're cooking in clay

01:45:32.300 --> 01:45:33.900
and the dirt and the dust,

01:45:33.900 --> 01:45:36.900
like disease, bacteria and stuff

01:45:36.900 --> 01:45:39.500
can get into that actual pot

01:45:39.500 --> 01:45:40.900
and it becomes contaminated

01:45:40.900 --> 01:45:42.300
and it's not clean anymore.

01:45:42.300 --> 01:45:44.100
So after you've cooked in something like that,

01:45:44.100 --> 01:45:45.700
you just break it, okay?

01:45:45.900 --> 01:45:51.100
The brazen pot can be rinsed and scoured, scoured just like scrubbing.

01:45:51.100 --> 01:45:55.700
So they're just scrubbing it clean, they're wiping it down.

01:45:55.700 --> 01:45:59.300
And I believe that this is picturing, again, Christ,

01:45:59.300 --> 01:46:04.800
He, from an earthly perspective, His earthly vessel was destroyed.

01:46:04.800 --> 01:46:10.300
You know, the Bible says that when He breaks the cracker, He says that His body was broken.

01:46:10.600 --> 01:46:12.600
and it was broken for us.

01:46:12.600 --> 01:46:15.600
So Jesus Christ, so the earth and vessel was broken.

01:46:15.600 --> 01:46:18.400
But then He rose again.

01:46:18.400 --> 01:46:20.800
And of course, you know, you kind of picture, you know,

01:46:20.800 --> 01:46:23.000
brazen things can abide by the fire.

01:46:23.000 --> 01:46:26.000
They were cooked in fire and they're rinsed.

01:46:26.000 --> 01:46:27.800
And now they can be used again.

01:46:27.800 --> 01:46:30.000
And I believe that's a picture of the resurrected body.

01:46:30.000 --> 01:46:33.200
So the resurrection, hey, it abides by the fire

01:46:33.200 --> 01:46:34.400
and it's not going to be broken.

01:46:34.400 --> 01:46:36.800
It's going to be reused and it will be used forever.

01:46:36.900 --> 01:46:41.460
and it's been cleansed and so, you know, it can continue being used. Of course,

01:46:41.460 --> 01:46:48.100
you have pictures of Christ himself, even his feet are like brazen feet that were abiding in the fire.

01:46:48.100 --> 01:46:52.340
And so you kind of have these pictures. Look at verse 30, and no sin offering whereof

01:46:52.340 --> 01:46:55.780
any of the blood is brought into the tabernacle of the congregation to reconcile with all in the

01:46:55.780 --> 01:47:02.420
holy place shall be eaten, it shall be burnt in the fire. So all the blood is

01:47:03.300 --> 01:47:06.600
discarded in the sense. So all the blood is emptied.

01:47:06.600 --> 01:47:09.700
And I guess my last point would be this is that,

01:47:09.700 --> 01:47:13.900
you know, it seems like, because the Bible says without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.

01:47:13.900 --> 01:47:17.000
So all the blood of Christ was shed for us.

01:47:17.000 --> 01:47:17.900
Okay?

01:47:17.900 --> 01:47:21.000
And it appears, and again this is just my

01:47:21.000 --> 01:47:24.800
understanding of Scripture, but when Christ reappears and He's showing Himself to them,

01:47:24.800 --> 01:47:27.700
He says like flesh and blood cannot enter the Kingdom of God.

01:47:27.700 --> 01:47:29.800
And He says He has like flesh and bone.

01:47:30.200 --> 01:47:36.600
but not blood. And it appears that our first experience, our first life is powered by blood,

01:47:36.600 --> 01:47:43.880
but our second is powered by the spirit. And so, you know, eating of blood is kind of a picture

01:47:43.880 --> 01:47:47.800
of trying to live forever in this old body carnally.

01:47:48.300 --> 01:47:49.820
And you know, this is what a lot of people want to do.

01:47:49.820 --> 01:47:54.900
A lot of people are trying to just live forever in this body with blood.

01:47:54.900 --> 01:47:59.700
You'll notice the satanic, the occultists, they're obsessed with blood.

01:48:00.100 --> 01:48:05.600
And many of them are eating blood, drinking blood, vampires are drinking blood.

01:48:05.600 --> 01:48:10.600
Like there's this obsession of the satanic, there's this obsession of the ungodly.

01:48:10.600 --> 01:48:16.600
With blood, you have the Mayans and you have the Aztecs and you have the Native Americans.

01:48:16.600 --> 01:48:19.600
You know, they're obsessed with eating blood and drinking blood.

01:48:19.600 --> 01:48:21.600
And you know, the Bible forbids this.

01:48:22.200 --> 01:48:28.200
You go into India, into these dark corners of the world of Hinduism, they're into blood.

01:48:28.200 --> 01:48:33.000
I mean, have you not seen Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom?

01:48:33.000 --> 01:48:35.200
Okay, it's weird, alright?

01:48:35.200 --> 01:48:38.200
They're doing weird stuff. I know it's a movie, but you know.

01:48:38.200 --> 01:48:44.000
I'm just saying like, hey, it's weird, but you know, we're not looking for blood to sustain us forever.

01:48:44.500 --> 01:48:50.700
Okay, it's the Spirit of God that gives us that life and being renewed in our spirit.

01:48:50.700 --> 01:48:53.400
And you know, we shouldn't be so obsessed with the blood.

01:48:53.400 --> 01:48:58.840
You know, in church, you know, you should realize that there's something more powerful

01:48:58.840 --> 01:48:59.840
than blood.

01:48:59.840 --> 01:49:00.840
It's the Spirit.

01:49:00.840 --> 01:49:04.280
And you see Jesus Christ saying, who is my mother?

01:49:04.280 --> 01:49:05.600
Who is my brother?

01:49:05.600 --> 01:49:09.520
You know what's more important than a blood relative?

01:49:09.520 --> 01:49:10.520
Is a spiritual relative.

01:49:10.520 --> 01:49:10.800
Thanks for watching!

01:49:11.500 --> 01:49:14.300
And so, you know, the spirit usurps the blood.

01:49:14.300 --> 01:49:16.700
And, you know, we shouldn't be dwelling on the blood.

01:49:16.700 --> 01:49:19.100
You know, of course, many people are dwelling on blood today.

01:49:19.100 --> 01:49:21.200
They dwell on blood because they think about genetics.

01:49:21.200 --> 01:49:22.400
They're always concerned with genetics.

01:49:22.400 --> 01:49:27.800
And they're like, we got to save the world by all being one color or one race or having, you know,

01:49:27.800 --> 01:49:29.200
it's all about bloodlines.

01:49:29.200 --> 01:49:30.400
It's all about genetics.

01:49:30.400 --> 01:49:34.200
It's all about this group of people or it's about family.

01:49:34.200 --> 01:49:37.700
Like everything that's not trying to serve God, it's all about blood or something.

01:49:37.700 --> 01:49:38.200
Yeah.

01:49:38.200 --> 01:49:38.700
Okay.

01:49:39.400 --> 01:49:46.840
It's always about my family or my bloodline or my heritage or my white supremacy or black

01:49:46.840 --> 01:49:49.200
supremacy or whatever.

01:49:49.200 --> 01:49:52.560
And I like how white people always demonize the only people that want this.

01:49:52.560 --> 01:49:57.120
It's like, bro, go with me in the ghetto and you'll meet people that say like they're the

01:49:57.120 --> 01:50:00.200
physical descendants of Israel and they're dark as night.

01:50:01.500 --> 01:50:05.500
And then you would go meet some Jews and they'll say they're the physical descendants of Abraham.

01:50:05.500 --> 01:50:06.500
Okay?

01:50:06.500 --> 01:50:10.500
And then you'll meet some white people and they'll say like, well, we're better than them.

01:50:10.500 --> 01:50:12.500
And just like, everybody thinks they're better.

01:50:12.500 --> 01:50:14.500
But you know what's better? Spirit.

01:50:14.500 --> 01:50:18.500
The spiritual family, the spiritual truths of the Bible.

01:50:18.500 --> 01:50:20.500
And you know what's better than the carnal truths of the Bible?

01:50:20.500 --> 01:50:22.500
The spiritual truths of the Bible.

01:50:22.500 --> 01:50:25.500
Okay. So don't eat blood, number one.

01:50:25.500 --> 01:50:29.400
But number two, you know, let the spirit be more important than the blood.

01:50:30.100 --> 01:50:32.800
And you know that's where we're going to all be anyways.

01:50:32.800 --> 01:50:34.660
We behold wondrous things as I law.

01:50:34.660 --> 01:50:35.660
We're going to have eternal life.

01:50:35.660 --> 01:50:38.680
You know if you haven't believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, you need to settle that today.

01:50:39.300 --> 01:50:42.500
But, you know, there's cool things in the Bible when you're saved.

01:50:42.500 --> 01:50:44.300
And you take the time to slow down.

01:50:44.300 --> 01:50:47.380
So, hopefully next time you read through Leviticus, you'll kind of see some of the pictures, you'll

01:50:47.380 --> 01:50:49.300
see some of these elements.

01:50:49.300 --> 01:50:52.700
And we'll understand that the sacrifices of Leviticus were to all point us to Christ.

01:50:52.700 --> 01:50:53.700
Amen.

01:50:53.700 --> 01:50:54.700
Let's close in prayer.

01:50:54.700 --> 01:50:56.040
Thank you, Heavenly Father, so much for your Word.

01:50:56.040 --> 01:51:01.740
Thank you for the sacrifice of Christ, for Him being, you know, this perfect spotless

01:51:01.740 --> 01:51:01.980
lamb.

01:51:02.800 --> 01:51:06.040
willing to die on the cross for our sins, willing to bear

01:51:06.040 --> 01:51:10.900
the burden of all of our sins, willing to have His blood sprinkled and shed and

01:51:10.900 --> 01:51:11.680
poured out,

01:51:11.680 --> 01:51:16.080
willing for His soul to send into hell

01:51:16.080 --> 01:51:20.560
for three days and three nights, but to come out victorious. And I pray that we

01:51:20.560 --> 01:51:21.000
would

01:51:21.000 --> 01:51:24.840
follow in His footsteps, that we would love the Bible, that we'd love the pictures,

01:51:24.840 --> 01:51:28.220
that we would embrace the spiritual truths of the Bible, that we wouldn't be

01:51:28.220 --> 01:51:28.920
offended.

01:51:29.300 --> 01:51:32.580
by the carnal truths or the spiritual truths and that we would elevate the

01:51:32.580 --> 01:51:34.820
spiritual over the carnal. In Jesus name we pray.

01:51:34.820 --> 01:51:35.140
Amen.

01:51:39.300 --> 01:51:44.100
I'm in our last song this morning, page 60, face to face.

01:51:44.100 --> 01:51:47.900
Page number 60, face to face.

01:51:47.900 --> 01:51:48.400
Thanks.

01:51:55.600 --> 01:51:59.200
Song 60 let's all sing it out together on that first
