WEBVTT

00:00.000 --> 00:08.880
When sorrow's like sea billows roll,

00:08.880 --> 00:18.400
Whatever my life now has brought me to say,

00:18.400 --> 00:29.360
It is well, it is well with my soul.

00:29.760 --> 00:56.560
It is well, it is well with my soul.

00:56.720 --> 01:06.720
O Satan should love him, O Trials should come,

01:06.720 --> 01:14.560
Let this blessed assurance control,

01:14.560 --> 01:20.080
That my heart be guarded,

01:20.080 --> 01:27.760
My helplessness take, and has shared,

01:27.760 --> 01:37.040
His own blood for my soul.

01:37.040 --> 02:05.200
It is well, it is well with my soul.

02:05.520 --> 02:16.000
I sing, O the bliss of this glorious thought,

02:16.000 --> 02:24.640
I sing that in quiet, but the Lord

02:24.720 --> 02:36.240
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear with the Lord,

02:36.240 --> 02:50.080
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul.

02:50.080 --> 03:15.040
It is well, it is well with my soul.

03:15.040 --> 03:24.000
It is well, it is well with my soul.

03:24.000 --> 03:38.000
And Lord, it's the day when my faith shall be signed,

03:38.000 --> 03:47.600
The cloud be rolled back as a storm,

03:47.600 --> 04:00.000
The storm shall resound, and the Lord shall be said,

04:00.000 --> 04:14.880
Faith and soul, it is well with my soul.

04:15.520 --> 04:28.640
It is well, it is well with my soul.

04:28.640 --> 04:56.400
It is well, it is well with my soul.

04:56.400 --> 05:02.960
I have found a deep peace that I never had known,

05:02.960 --> 05:08.880
And a joy this world could not afford,

05:08.880 --> 05:15.120
Since I yielded control, my body and soul,

05:15.120 --> 05:21.120
To my wonderful, wonderful Lord.

05:21.120 --> 05:27.120
My wonderful Lord, my wonderful Lord,

05:27.120 --> 05:33.120
My angels and seraphs in heaven adored,

05:33.120 --> 05:39.120
My vow and my shrine, my Savior divine,

05:39.120 --> 05:45.120
My wonderful, wonderful Lord.

05:45.120 --> 05:51.120
I desire that my life shall be ordered by Thee,

05:51.120 --> 05:57.120
That my will be in perfect accord,

05:57.120 --> 06:03.120
With Thine own sovereign will, I desire to fulfill,

06:03.120 --> 06:09.120
My wonderful, wonderful Lord.

06:09.120 --> 06:15.120
My wonderful Lord, my wonderful Lord,

06:15.120 --> 06:21.120
My angels and seraphs in heaven adored,

06:21.120 --> 06:27.120
My vow and my shrine, my Savior divine,

06:27.120 --> 06:33.040
My wonderful, wonderful Lord.

06:33.040 --> 06:39.040
All the talents I have, I have laid at Thy feet,

06:39.040 --> 06:45.040
Thy approval shall be my reward.

06:45.040 --> 06:51.040
Be my store, great or small, I surrender it all,

06:51.040 --> 06:55.040
To my wonderful, wonderful Lord.

06:55.040 --> 06:59.040
My wonderful Lord, my wonderful Lord,

06:59.040 --> 07:05.040
My angels and seraphs in heaven adored,

07:05.040 --> 07:11.040
My vow and my shrine, my Savior divine,

07:11.040 --> 07:15.040
My wonderful, wonderful Lord.

07:15.040 --> 07:19.040
All that lasts now, Thou art fairer to me

07:19.040 --> 07:23.040
Than the fairest of earth.

07:23.040 --> 07:27.040
Thou omnipotent, like giving,

07:27.040 --> 07:31.040
Thou omnipotent, like giving word.

07:31.040 --> 07:37.040
O Thou ancient of days, Thou art worthy of praise,

07:37.040 --> 07:43.040
My wonderful, wonderful Lord.

07:43.040 --> 07:49.040
My wonderful Lord, my wonderful Lord,

07:49.040 --> 07:55.040
My angels and seraphs in heaven adored,

07:55.040 --> 08:01.040
My vow and my shrine, my Savior divine,

08:01.040 --> 08:07.040
My wonderful, wonderful Lord.

08:07.040 --> 08:17.040
May time to behold thee, speak out with good God,

08:17.040 --> 08:25.040
I rest in Him always, and be on His word.

08:25.040 --> 08:33.040
Make friends of God's children, help us to our need,

08:33.040 --> 08:43.040
Forgiving and godly, His blessing to see.

08:43.040 --> 08:51.040
Take time to behold me, the world rushes on,

08:51.040 --> 08:59.040
Much time spending secret with Jesus alone,

08:59.040 --> 09:09.040
Thy looking to Jesus, Thine in Thou shall be,

09:09.040 --> 09:15.040
Thy friends in Thy conduct is our vision.

09:39.040 --> 09:43.040
Page 274, come unto me.

09:43.040 --> 09:49.040
Page 274 in your hymn books this evening, come unto me.

09:49.040 --> 10:01.040
Page 274, let's all sing it on that verse now.

10:01.040 --> 10:07.040
Hear the blessed Savior calling thee oppressed,

10:07.040 --> 10:11.040
Come unto me, O ye heavy laden, come to me and rest.

10:11.040 --> 10:17.040
Come no longer, tarry, I your load will bear,

10:17.040 --> 10:21.040
Bring me every burden, bring me every care.

10:21.040 --> 10:31.040
Come unto me, I will give you rest,

10:31.040 --> 10:39.040
Take my oak upon you, hear me and be blessed,

10:39.040 --> 10:49.040
I am meek and lowly, come and trust my mind.

10:49.040 --> 10:59.040
Come, my oak is easy, and my burden's wide.

10:59.040 --> 11:03.040
Are you disappointed, wondering here and there,

11:03.040 --> 11:08.040
Dragging chains of doubt and loaded down with care?

11:08.040 --> 11:13.040
Do unholy feelings struggle in your breast,

11:13.040 --> 11:18.040
Bring your case to Jesus, He will give you rest.

11:18.040 --> 11:27.040
Come unto me, I will give you rest,

11:27.040 --> 11:36.040
Take my oak upon you, hear me and be blessed,

11:36.040 --> 11:45.040
I am meek and lowly, come and trust my mind.

11:45.040 --> 11:55.040
Come, my oak is easy, and my burden's wide.

11:55.040 --> 12:00.040
Stumbling on the mountain's darkness in its shade,

12:00.040 --> 12:05.040
Stumbling toward the pit of hell's consuming flame,

12:05.040 --> 12:09.040
By the powers of sin deluded and oppressed,

12:09.040 --> 12:14.040
Hear the tent of shepherds come to thee and rest.

12:14.040 --> 12:23.040
Come unto me, I will give you rest,

12:23.040 --> 12:32.040
Take my oak upon you, hear me and be blessed,

12:32.040 --> 12:41.040
I am meek and lowly, come and trust my mind.

12:41.040 --> 12:49.040
Come, my oak is easy, and my burden's wide.

12:49.040 --> 12:53.040
Out of the last, have you by temptation,

12:53.040 --> 12:57.040
Octant conquered men, as the sense of weakness,

12:57.040 --> 13:02.040
Brought distress within, Christ will sanctify you,

13:02.040 --> 13:04.040
If you'll claim His test.

13:04.040 --> 13:09.040
In the Holy Spirit, He will give you rest.

13:09.040 --> 13:18.040
Come unto me, I will give you rest,

13:18.040 --> 13:27.040
Take my oak upon you, hear me and be blessed,

13:27.040 --> 13:36.040
I am meek and lowly, come and trust my mind.

13:36.040 --> 13:46.040
Come, my oak is easy, and my burden's wide.

13:46.040 --> 13:47.040
Amen.

13:47.040 --> 13:49.040
Great singing, let's open up with a word of prayer this evening.

13:49.040 --> 13:52.040
Heavenly Father, we thank you for Steadfast Baptist Church

13:52.040 --> 13:55.040
and all those who came this evening to worship you in the Spirit.

13:55.040 --> 14:00.040
We thank you for the soul winning and the works that you have given us

14:00.040 --> 14:02.040
the opportunity to do here at this church.

14:02.040 --> 14:04.040
We thank you for the Word of God,

14:04.040 --> 14:08.040
and we thank you for all the fellowship we have at this church.

14:08.040 --> 14:10.040
We pray that you would strengthen us in your word this evening

14:10.040 --> 14:13.040
and fill Pentecost with your Holy Spirit.

14:13.040 --> 14:15.040
In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

14:15.040 --> 14:19.040
Our second song will be page 442.

14:19.040 --> 14:22.040
We gather together, page 442.

14:22.040 --> 14:24.040
We gather together.

14:28.040 --> 14:31.040
Page 442.

14:31.040 --> 14:33.040
We gather together.

14:33.040 --> 14:36.040
Sing it out loud with us on that verse.

14:36.040 --> 14:43.040
We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing.

14:43.040 --> 14:50.040
He chastens and hastens His will to make known

14:50.040 --> 14:54.040
the wicked of persons He sees.

14:54.040 --> 14:56.040
He slips from distress.

14:56.040 --> 15:00.040
Sing, sing praises to His name.

15:00.040 --> 15:04.040
He forgets not His own.

15:04.040 --> 15:11.040
He's hired us to guide us, our God, with thus joining

15:11.040 --> 15:18.040
for gaining, maintaining His kingdom behind.

15:18.040 --> 15:25.040
So from the beginning of time we are winning.

15:25.040 --> 15:32.040
Thou Lord, what's at our side, the glory be thine.

15:32.040 --> 15:40.040
We all do extol Thee, Thou leader in battle.

15:40.040 --> 15:47.040
And pray that thou still our defender will be,

15:47.040 --> 15:54.040
and thy congregation escape tribulation.

15:54.040 --> 16:02.040
Thy name we never praise, O Lord, make us free.

16:04.040 --> 16:06.040
Amen. If you hadn't gotten a bulletin already

16:06.040 --> 16:09.040
and you would just like one, just lift your hand nice and high

16:09.040 --> 16:11.040
and we'll get you guys a bulletin.

16:11.040 --> 16:13.040
Welcome to Steadfast Baptist Church.

16:13.040 --> 16:17.040
We are finishing up our grace week for memorizing Romans chapter 10.

16:17.040 --> 16:21.040
If you haven't done that, you can still complete that by Saturday

16:21.040 --> 16:23.040
and you can receive a prize.

16:23.040 --> 16:27.040
We give out prizes for those who are able to quote the entire passage.

16:27.040 --> 16:29.040
Word perfect to a non-family member.

16:29.040 --> 16:32.040
If you're 18 and under and you can quote the verse of the week,

16:32.040 --> 16:34.040
you can still get that ice cream.

16:34.040 --> 16:36.040
On the inside is our service and soul winning times.

16:36.040 --> 16:37.040
We have listed there.

16:37.040 --> 16:40.040
We have church stats for how we've been doing on soul winning.

16:40.040 --> 16:42.040
On the right is a list of expecting ladies.

16:42.040 --> 16:44.040
Please be in prayer for our expecting ladies.

16:44.040 --> 16:46.040
Some church reminders again.

16:46.040 --> 16:49.040
If you'd please not have the children come up on our stage areas.

16:49.040 --> 16:51.040
If they are in the kitchen or mother baby room,

16:51.040 --> 16:56.040
please make sure that they are being attended and they have a parent with them.

16:56.040 --> 16:58.040
Also, if you are in the mother baby room,

16:58.040 --> 17:00.040
that is for mothers and their children only.

17:00.040 --> 17:03.040
If they're two and under, they're free to roam in the area.

17:03.040 --> 17:04.040
We want to make that safe though.

17:04.040 --> 17:06.040
If you have children that are older,

17:06.040 --> 17:11.040
if you'd please just have them sit with you if you take them into the mother baby room areas.

17:11.040 --> 17:14.040
Also, there shouldn't be any running in the church.

17:14.040 --> 17:18.040
Please also, if you are an adult and you do wander up here,

17:18.040 --> 17:23.040
please refrain from messing with any music instruments or any of the materials up here.

17:23.040 --> 17:27.040
If you are interested, you could ask the musicians permission first

17:27.040 --> 17:29.040
if you want to use their instrument.

17:29.040 --> 17:33.040
Down below is the mention also about Sunday.

17:33.040 --> 17:38.040
Sundays and afternoons, we offer just a time arrest period,

17:38.040 --> 17:41.040
a quiet time for people that want to stay behind.

17:41.040 --> 17:45.040
A lot of us go out soul winning, but if you need to stay behind, you can use that.

17:45.040 --> 17:49.040
In order to make it a quiet time, we just ask that you wouldn't talk in this area.

17:49.040 --> 17:51.040
You can use our fellowship room if you'd like.

17:51.040 --> 17:54.040
Upcoming events, we have our Mother's Day brunch.

17:54.040 --> 17:57.040
It's really close, so if you haven't signed up, please do immediately.

17:57.040 --> 17:59.040
There is a sign up sheet out here in the foyer.

17:59.040 --> 18:02.040
You can say something in the group chat.

18:02.040 --> 18:08.040
We have several events and conferences that are going on in different parts of the world.

18:08.040 --> 18:12.040
As well as here, we have an anti-Israel conference coming up May 20th through the 24th.

18:12.040 --> 18:16.040
That schedule I put online, but just as a quick reminder,

18:16.040 --> 18:20.040
we'll have our normal service time on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

18:20.040 --> 18:23.040
I'll be preaching and we'll be kicking off the conference that evening,

18:23.040 --> 18:24.040
so we'll be handing out.

18:24.040 --> 18:26.040
We have a lot of goodies again this year.

18:26.040 --> 18:28.040
We have some new shirts that we've made.

18:28.040 --> 18:31.040
It's saved by grace, right?

18:31.040 --> 18:35.040
I have actually three different shirts.

18:35.040 --> 18:40.040
We basically have a universal shirt that everybody can get.

18:40.040 --> 18:43.040
It's Christ is Abraham's Seed.

18:43.040 --> 18:46.040
It's a cool design that Rich helped us make.

18:46.040 --> 18:51.040
We had a couple spicy shirts for some of the men if you want to wear one.

18:51.040 --> 18:55.040
It's kind of a first-come, first-serve, but of course everything's free.

18:55.040 --> 18:59.040
We have some new stickers and stuff that we'll be handing out for the event.

18:59.040 --> 19:03.040
Also, I might message some people this week about if they want to help

19:03.040 --> 19:08.040
with just either cleaning, volunteering, welcome team, security, decoration,

19:08.040 --> 19:11.040
any of those kind of things for the event and for the conference.

19:11.040 --> 19:14.040
Just be on the lookout for that if you'd like to help.

19:14.040 --> 19:17.040
We have Father's Day and Mother's Day is coming up.

19:17.040 --> 19:18.040
We have the Fiji Missions trip.

19:18.040 --> 19:22.040
If you're interested in going that, see Evangelist Fur and just ask him about it.

19:22.040 --> 19:25.040
Mesquite Soul Winning Marathon August 22nd.

19:25.040 --> 19:28.040
Barbados Missions trip is September 7th through the 12th,

19:28.040 --> 19:31.040
so if you're interested in that, you can ask us about it.

19:31.040 --> 19:33.040
But really all you have to do to sign up is just purchase your ticket,

19:33.040 --> 19:36.040
send us the itinerary, and we'll get you logged in.

19:36.040 --> 19:39.040
We already have housing procured for a lot of people,

19:39.040 --> 19:42.040
and so most likely you should, as long as you register in time,

19:42.040 --> 19:46.040
you should be able to be accommodated for free lodging if you'd like that.

19:46.040 --> 19:48.040
Some people like to get their own lodging.

19:48.040 --> 19:52.040
That's of course fine, but if you'd like to participate in the church lodging,

19:52.040 --> 19:55.040
all you have to do is send us that itinerary and just tell us,

19:55.040 --> 19:58.040
and we'll make sure to mark you down for that.

19:58.040 --> 20:01.040
On the back is the prayer list.

20:01.040 --> 20:03.040
We did have a missionary update letter that was in here.

20:03.040 --> 20:08.040
You can read that about Evangelist Urbanic, but doing a great job out there.

20:08.040 --> 20:12.040
We are looking forward to going out to the Philippines again in February of next year,

20:12.040 --> 20:14.040
so if you'd like to participate with us,

20:14.040 --> 20:19.040
we'll try to get those dates identified pretty soon so that way people can plan accordingly.

20:19.040 --> 20:21.040
We'll go through our prayer list.

20:21.040 --> 20:23.040
So we've been praying for the Garcia's.

20:23.040 --> 20:24.040
We continue to pray for their health.

20:24.040 --> 20:26.040
Also, we pray for Brother Suhell's mother.

20:26.040 --> 20:27.040
We've been praying for her health.

20:27.040 --> 20:31.040
Please pray for Brother Billy's mother, who's been recovering from surgery.

20:31.040 --> 20:35.040
Also, we pray for the family members that recently had a death.

20:35.040 --> 20:36.040
Also pray for his son.

20:36.040 --> 20:39.040
We've been praying for Brother Spurgeon for a work.

20:39.040 --> 20:42.040
We've been praying for Brother Kenairi's brother.

20:42.040 --> 20:45.040
And then we've been praying for the Benson's friend.

20:45.040 --> 20:50.040
Brother Jameson, one of our church members, asked he ask for prayer for Brother Jameson while he's in the Philippines.

20:50.040 --> 20:52.040
Please pray for our Barbados trip.

20:52.040 --> 20:54.040
Things would go smoothly over there.

20:54.040 --> 20:57.040
Also pray for the Larky family, for Miss Noel.

20:57.040 --> 21:02.040
And then we've been praying for Brother Nick for his ankle and leg fractures.

21:02.040 --> 21:06.040
Also, I'd seen a prayer request that you'd pray for the Cogdell's father.

21:06.040 --> 21:09.040
He was having surgery, so it would be just a prayer for him.

21:09.040 --> 21:13.040
So we'll just say a quick word of prayer as a church family.

21:13.040 --> 21:16.040
Thank you so much for our church service.

21:16.040 --> 21:21.040
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you would just bless all these ladies who are expecting.

21:21.040 --> 21:23.040
Please just be with them during their pregnancies.

21:23.040 --> 21:27.040
I pray that you would just please give them a timely birth.

21:27.040 --> 21:29.040
You would help them with their delivery.

21:29.040 --> 21:34.040
I pray that you would also just continue to bless those who are wishing to become pregnant.

21:34.040 --> 21:41.040
I pray that you would bless all of these church family members and friends that have these sicknesses or these chronic issues.

21:41.040 --> 21:42.040
I pray that you could give them health.

21:42.040 --> 21:45.040
Please give them comfort during this time of difficulty.

21:45.040 --> 21:48.040
Please help those that need to find work or need favor financially.

21:48.040 --> 21:52.040
I pray that you would bless those that are planning on going missions trips.

21:52.040 --> 21:54.040
You keep them safe and give them those opportunities.

21:54.040 --> 21:56.040
I pray that you would open doors for us in Barbados.

21:56.040 --> 22:01.040
I pray that you would allow us to have a great conference, that everybody be safe, and that we could preach the truth,

22:01.040 --> 22:05.040
and that you would give us that courage and that boldness and that zeal to preach the Word of God.

22:05.040 --> 22:08.040
I pray that you continue to bless our church and its ministries.

22:08.040 --> 22:10.040
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

22:10.040 --> 22:14.040
That's pretty much all I have as far as prayer requests and announcements.

22:14.040 --> 22:17.040
So we'll go ahead and sing our Psalm of the Week.

22:17.040 --> 22:18.040
It's Psalm 11.

22:18.040 --> 22:19.040
We have a special Psalm book.

22:19.040 --> 22:23.040
If you'd like to follow along, you can do it in your Bible, but the Psalm book does make it a little bit easier.

22:23.040 --> 22:24.040
Psalm 11.

22:24.040 --> 22:25.040
Psalm 11.

22:42.040 --> 22:43.040
Psalm 11.

22:45.040 --> 22:47.040
Follow along with us and sing it on the first.

22:47.040 --> 22:51.040
In the Lord put I my trust,

22:51.040 --> 22:54.040
Now say ye to my soul,

22:54.040 --> 22:58.040
Me as a bird to your mountain,

22:58.040 --> 23:03.040
For lo the wicked men there go.

23:03.040 --> 23:09.040
They may credit their arrow upon the string,

23:09.040 --> 23:14.040
That they may privilege shoot at,

23:14.040 --> 23:16.040
The upriding heart,

23:16.040 --> 23:20.040
If the foundations be destroyed,

23:20.040 --> 23:23.040
What can the righteous do?

23:23.040 --> 23:27.040
The Lord is in his holy temple,

23:27.040 --> 23:30.040
The Lord's throne is in heaven,

23:30.040 --> 23:33.040
His eyes behold,

23:33.040 --> 23:36.040
His eyes is triumphant,

23:36.040 --> 23:40.040
The children of men.

23:40.040 --> 23:43.040
The Lord tried the righteous,

23:43.040 --> 23:45.040
Upon the wicked,

23:45.040 --> 23:49.040
And him that loveth violence,

23:49.040 --> 23:52.040
His soul hated,

23:52.040 --> 23:55.040
His soul hated,

23:55.040 --> 23:58.040
Upon the wicked,

23:58.040 --> 24:01.040
Each showering stares,

24:01.040 --> 24:05.040
By remprisonment,

24:05.040 --> 24:08.040
In horrible tempest,

24:08.040 --> 24:11.040
This shall be,

24:11.040 --> 24:14.040
The portion of their cup,

24:14.040 --> 24:18.040
For the righteous morn.

24:18.040 --> 24:21.040
Loveeth righteousness,

24:21.040 --> 24:24.040
His countenance,

24:24.040 --> 24:27.040
Doth behold,

24:27.040 --> 24:31.040
Doth behold me a bride,

24:31.040 --> 24:35.040
In the Lord put I my trust.

24:35.040 --> 24:37.040
Amen. Great singing at this time.

24:37.040 --> 24:39.040
The offering plates will be passed around,

24:39.040 --> 24:42.040
And you can turn in your Bibles to Deuteronomy, Chapter 29,

24:42.040 --> 24:44.040
For the reading of God's Word.

24:44.040 --> 24:47.040
Deuteronomy, Chapter 29.

25:09.040 --> 25:12.040
Deuteronomy, Chapter 29.

25:12.040 --> 25:15.040
The Bible reads,

25:15.040 --> 25:18.040
These are the words of the covenant

25:18.040 --> 25:21.040
Which the Lord commanded Moses

25:21.040 --> 25:24.040
To make with the children of Israel

25:24.040 --> 25:27.040
In the land of Moab,

25:27.040 --> 25:30.040
Beside the covenant which he made with the children of Israel

25:30.040 --> 25:33.040
And the children of Israel.

25:33.040 --> 25:36.040
And the children of Israel

25:36.040 --> 25:39.040
And the children of Israel

25:39.040 --> 25:42.040
And the children of Israel

25:42.040 --> 25:45.040
And the children of Israel

25:45.040 --> 25:48.040
And the children of Israel

25:48.040 --> 25:51.040
And the children of Israel

25:51.040 --> 25:54.040
And the children of Israel

25:54.040 --> 25:57.040
And the children of Israel

25:57.040 --> 26:00.040
And the children of Israel

26:00.040 --> 26:03.040
And the children of Israel

26:03.040 --> 26:06.040
And thy shoes not wax and hold upon thy foot,

26:06.040 --> 26:09.040
Ye have not eaten bread, neither drunk wine,

26:09.040 --> 26:12.040
Or strong drink, that ye might know that I am the Lord your God.

26:12.040 --> 26:15.040
And when ye have came unto this place,

26:15.040 --> 26:18.040
Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Beishan,

26:18.040 --> 26:21.040
Came out against us unto battle, and we smote them.

26:21.040 --> 26:24.040
And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Rubinites,

26:24.040 --> 26:27.040
And to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh.

26:27.040 --> 26:30.040
Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them,

26:30.040 --> 26:33.040
And ye shall prosper in all that ye do.

26:33.040 --> 26:36.040
Ye stand this day, all of you, before the Lord your God,

26:36.040 --> 26:39.040
Your captains of your tribes, and your elders, and your officers,

26:39.040 --> 26:42.040
With all the men of Israel, your little ones, your wives,

26:42.040 --> 26:45.040
And thy stranger that is in thy camp,

26:45.040 --> 26:48.040
From the hewer of thy wood, and to the drawer of thy water,

26:48.040 --> 26:51.040
That thou shouldest enter into the covenant with the Lord thy God,

26:51.040 --> 26:54.040
And into his oath, which the Lord thy God maketh with thee this day,

26:54.040 --> 26:57.040
That he may establish thee today for a people unto himself,

26:57.040 --> 27:00.040
As he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers,

27:00.040 --> 27:03.040
To Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. Neither with you only did I make

27:03.040 --> 27:07.040
This covenant and this oath, but with him that standeth here with us

27:07.040 --> 27:13.040
This day before the Lord our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day.

27:13.040 --> 27:16.040
For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt,

27:16.040 --> 27:19.040
And how we came through the nations which ye passed by.

27:19.040 --> 27:22.040
And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols,

27:22.040 --> 27:25.040
Wood, and stone, silver, and gold, which were among them.

27:25.040 --> 27:28.040
Lest there should be among you man or woman or family or tribe,

27:28.040 --> 27:31.040
Whose heart turneth away this day from the Lord our God,

27:31.040 --> 27:33.040
To go and serve them, the gods of these nations.

27:33.040 --> 27:37.040
Lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and warm wood.

27:37.040 --> 27:40.040
And it came to pass when he heareth the words of this curse,

27:40.040 --> 27:42.040
That he blessed himself in his heart, saying,

27:42.040 --> 27:46.040
I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart,

27:46.040 --> 27:50.040
To add drunkenness to thirst. The Lord will not spare him,

27:50.040 --> 27:54.040
But then the anger of the Lord and his jealousy shall smoke against that man,

27:54.040 --> 27:57.040
And all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him,

27:57.040 --> 27:59.040
And the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven.

27:59.040 --> 28:03.040
And the Lord shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel,

28:03.040 --> 28:07.040
According to all the curses of the covenants that are written in this book of the law.

28:07.040 --> 28:11.040
So that the generation to come of your children shall rise up after you,

28:11.040 --> 28:14.040
And the stranger that shall come from far land shall say,

28:14.040 --> 28:19.040
When they see the plagues of that land, and the sickness which the Lord hath laid upon it.

28:19.040 --> 28:22.040
And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning,

28:22.040 --> 28:25.040
That it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein,

28:25.040 --> 28:27.040
Like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah.

28:27.040 --> 28:33.040
Adma and Zeboim, which the Lord overthrew in his wrath.

28:33.040 --> 28:37.040
Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this land?

28:37.040 --> 28:40.040
What meaneth the heat of this great anger?

28:40.040 --> 28:44.040
Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers,

28:44.040 --> 28:47.040
Which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

28:47.040 --> 28:50.040
For they went and served other gods, and worshiped them,

28:50.040 --> 28:53.040
Gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them.

28:53.040 --> 28:55.040
And the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land,

28:55.040 --> 28:59.040
To bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book.

28:59.040 --> 29:01.040
And the Lord rooted them out of the land in anger,

29:01.040 --> 29:06.040
And in wrath, and in great indignation, cast them into another land as it is this day.

29:06.040 --> 29:08.040
The secret things belong unto the Lord our God,

29:08.040 --> 29:10.040
But those things which are revealed belong unto us,

29:10.040 --> 29:13.040
And to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

29:13.040 --> 29:14.040
Let us pray.

29:14.040 --> 29:16.040
Heavenly Father, thank you for this chapter of the Bible.

29:16.040 --> 29:18.040
Thank you for this church.

29:18.040 --> 29:20.040
Thank you for all the souls that are getting saved.

29:20.040 --> 29:22.040
I just pray that you bless Pastor Shelley, fill him with your Holy Spirit.

29:22.040 --> 29:25.040
Help him to preach unto us, and help us to receive it,

29:25.040 --> 29:27.040
And make changes in our lives to be better Christians.

29:27.040 --> 29:29.040
Praise in Jesus' name, Amen.

29:29.040 --> 29:30.040
Amen.

29:30.040 --> 29:34.040
Here in Deuteronomy 29, and we're kind of wrapping up the book of Deuteronomy.

29:34.040 --> 29:36.040
The previous chapter is very long.

29:36.040 --> 29:41.040
It really spelled out a lot of the blessings and the cursings that God has laid out in the Word of God.

29:41.040 --> 29:43.040
If you follow them, you're greatly blessed.

29:43.040 --> 29:47.040
If you break God's commandments, you will be greatly cursed.

29:47.040 --> 29:51.040
And he's kind of wrapping up, because the context of the book of Deuteronomy,

29:51.040 --> 29:54.040
If you think about it, it's the second time he's giving the law.

29:54.040 --> 29:57.040
You have the first time at Mount Sinai,

29:57.040 --> 30:03.040
And that first generation didn't believe, and didn't have faith,

30:03.040 --> 30:06.040
And so when they got to the promised land,

30:06.040 --> 30:10.040
They basically reneged the opportunity to go into the promised land,

30:10.040 --> 30:13.040
So they had to wander in the wilderness for 40 years.

30:13.040 --> 30:16.040
God said that he would kill all of them, and he killed all of them.

30:16.040 --> 30:18.040
And so this is the next generation.

30:18.040 --> 30:20.040
This is a younger generation.

30:20.040 --> 30:23.040
It's like the boomers died and announced Gen Z's turn, okay?

30:23.040 --> 30:27.040
And basically what he's saying is that they're lined up here,

30:27.040 --> 30:32.040
And he's reminding them of all the things that God had spoken to them.

30:32.040 --> 30:37.040
And he even explicitly tells them that this covenant was really for them,

30:37.040 --> 30:40.040
Because he understood and knew, from the beginning,

30:40.040 --> 30:43.040
That they were going to be the ones that were going to actually enter into the promised land.

30:43.040 --> 30:46.040
And so he kind of reminds us here in the first few verses, it says,

30:46.040 --> 30:50.040
These are the words of the covenant which the Lord commanded Moses

30:50.040 --> 30:53.040
To make with the children of Israel and the land of Moab,

30:53.040 --> 30:56.040
Beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

30:56.040 --> 31:00.040
So Horeb is Sinai, so he's basically saying,

31:00.040 --> 31:10.040
Hey, this is what God had said to Moses and that first generation 40 years ago.

31:10.040 --> 31:13.040
So he's kind of going, he's drawing back to that particular point.

31:13.040 --> 31:16.040
That's kind of where he started in the book of Deuteronomy.

31:16.040 --> 31:20.040
If you remember the first few chapters, he's just reminding them that everything was commanded.

31:20.040 --> 31:22.040
He went through this huge list.

31:22.040 --> 31:27.040
Now he's going back and calling back to remembrance that timeline, okay?

31:27.040 --> 31:30.040
So we have to understand that when we're talking about verse 2,

31:30.040 --> 31:34.040
We're still kind of talking about that first generation.

31:34.040 --> 31:36.040
We're talking about that first group of people.

31:36.040 --> 31:38.040
It says, And Moses called unto all Israel and said unto them,

31:38.040 --> 31:41.040
Ye have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt,

31:41.040 --> 31:44.040
And to Pharaoh and unto all his servants and unto all his land,

31:44.040 --> 31:46.040
The great temptations which thine eyes have seen,

31:46.040 --> 31:48.040
The signs and those great miracles.

31:48.040 --> 31:51.040
Yet the Lord hath not given you in heart to perceive,

31:51.040 --> 31:54.040
And eyes to see and ears to hear unto this day.

31:54.040 --> 32:01.040
So again, it can get confusing because it's still Moses.

32:01.040 --> 32:03.040
It's Moses in both situations.

32:04.040 --> 32:06.040
But what he was saying is,

32:06.040 --> 32:11.040
You guys, that first generation, saw the actual miracles in Egypt.

32:11.040 --> 32:16.040
They saw the great wonders of God's wrath poured out on the Egyptians.

32:16.040 --> 32:19.040
They physically walked through the Red Sea.

32:19.040 --> 32:22.040
They saw God parting the Red Sea.

32:22.040 --> 32:25.040
They saw Pharaoh and his army marching after them.

32:25.040 --> 32:30.040
They saw the Red Sea closing in on top of them and slaughtering all of them.

32:30.040 --> 32:33.040
And even though they saw all the miracles,

32:33.040 --> 32:37.040
And even though they experienced the great wonders of God,

32:37.040 --> 32:39.040
What did he say here?

32:39.040 --> 32:42.040
He says that they did not have a heart to perceive,

32:42.040 --> 32:47.040
And eyes to see and ears to hear and unto this day.

32:47.040 --> 32:49.040
So he's just basically saying,

32:49.040 --> 32:51.040
Even though you got to see all that,

32:51.040 --> 32:53.040
For some reason you just didn't believe it.

32:53.040 --> 32:57.040
And it kind of is an illusion if you think about it to the Gospel itself,

32:57.040 --> 33:02.040
Because Jesus Christ performed all of these miracles for the Jews.

33:02.040 --> 33:04.040
He did so many different miracles for the Jews,

33:04.040 --> 33:06.040
Repeated miracles for the Jews,

33:06.040 --> 33:08.040
And then they didn't end up believing.

33:08.040 --> 33:10.040
But who ended up believing?

33:10.040 --> 33:11.040
The Gentiles.

33:11.040 --> 33:14.040
The Gentiles didn't even get to see the miracles.

33:14.040 --> 33:19.040
So it's funny that the people that saw the miracles didn't believe.

33:19.040 --> 33:22.040
The people that don't see the miracles end up believing.

33:22.040 --> 33:23.040
And why is it?

33:23.040 --> 33:24.040
And why is it?

33:24.040 --> 33:28.040
Because there's a spiritual aspect to God's Word

33:28.040 --> 33:32.040
That even when you see it and it's right there in front of you,

33:32.040 --> 33:34.040
Many times it just goes over your head,

33:34.040 --> 33:37.040
Because you just don't have a heart to perceive,

33:37.040 --> 33:39.040
You don't have eyes to see,

33:39.040 --> 33:40.040
You don't have ears to hear.

33:40.040 --> 33:42.040
So there's a spiritual sight.

33:42.040 --> 33:44.040
There's a spiritual hearing.

33:44.040 --> 33:47.040
There's a spiritual heart.

33:47.040 --> 33:50.040
And the Bible is making this distinction

33:50.040 --> 33:53.040
between seeing physically and seeing spiritually.

33:53.040 --> 33:55.040
They just don't get it.

33:55.040 --> 33:59.040
Now, I want to focus on this point for a moment,

33:59.040 --> 34:01.040
Because this is a major component of the Bible.

34:01.040 --> 34:06.040
Let's go to Matthew chapter 13 and see this being explained in the Gospel specifically,

34:06.040 --> 34:12.040
And how Jesus is using this type of same language to describe the Jews of His day.

34:12.040 --> 34:16.040
Matthew chapter 13, look at verse number 14.

34:20.040 --> 34:23.040
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah,

34:23.040 --> 34:28.040
Which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand,

34:28.040 --> 34:33.040
And seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive.

34:33.040 --> 34:34.040
Why?

34:34.040 --> 34:37.040
For this people's heart is waxed gross,

34:37.040 --> 34:40.040
And their ears are dull of hearing,

34:40.040 --> 34:42.040
And their eyes they have closed,

34:42.040 --> 34:44.040
Lest that any time they should see with their eyes,

34:44.040 --> 34:45.040
And hear with their ears,

34:45.040 --> 34:47.040
And should understand with their heart,

34:47.040 --> 34:50.040
And should be converted, and I should heal them.

34:50.040 --> 34:56.040
So he's saying that the Jews of His day were prophesied against by Isaiah,

34:56.040 --> 35:00.040
And again, this is the same language that we have used in the book of Deuteronomy

35:00.040 --> 35:03.040
That Moses is talking about, that first generation,

35:03.040 --> 35:05.040
How they just can't get it.

35:05.040 --> 35:10.040
It just doesn't click, even though it's not like they didn't literally have eyes.

35:10.040 --> 35:12.040
It's not that they didn't literally have ears.

35:12.040 --> 35:15.040
It's not even that they didn't even hear the words of Christ.

35:15.040 --> 35:16.040
It's that they didn't get it.

35:16.040 --> 35:18.040
It just didn't make sense to them.

35:18.040 --> 35:19.040
Why?

35:19.040 --> 35:21.040
Because their heart was shut off to it.

35:21.040 --> 35:25.040
Sometimes people, they just don't have a heart for the truth.

35:25.040 --> 35:28.040
So it doesn't matter how much you explain it to them.

35:28.040 --> 35:30.040
It doesn't matter how much you show it to them.

35:30.040 --> 35:32.040
They just don't want to believe it.

35:32.040 --> 35:34.040
They're not willing to believe it.

35:34.040 --> 35:39.040
They've closed their ears and closed their eyes to hearing and seeing the truth.

35:39.040 --> 35:42.040
The Bible talks about people being willingly ignorant,

35:42.040 --> 35:47.040
Meaning that they don't want to believe something because of either pride

35:47.040 --> 35:51.040
or it's inconvenient for them, or it's going to correct them,

35:51.040 --> 35:53.040
or it would mean that they were wrong.

35:53.040 --> 35:57.040
And so as a result, they're not willing to entertain something

35:57.040 --> 35:59.040
that would challenge their worldview.

35:59.040 --> 36:01.040
Go if you would to John chapter 8.

36:01.040 --> 36:04.040
Go to John chapter number 8.

36:04.040 --> 36:09.040
And we're going to just see, this is a common theme again.

36:09.040 --> 36:12.040
John chapter number 8, we'll read a few verses.

36:12.040 --> 36:15.040
He says in verse 42, Jesus said unto them,

36:15.040 --> 36:18.040
If God were your father, ye would love me.

36:18.040 --> 36:22.040
For I proceeded forth and came from God, neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

36:22.040 --> 36:27.040
So he's saying to the Jews that if God were your father, meaning what?

36:27.040 --> 36:30.040
God the Father is not the God of the Jews at this point,

36:30.040 --> 36:33.040
because they don't believe in Jesus Christ.

36:33.040 --> 36:34.040
They don't believe in God.

36:34.040 --> 36:36.040
They don't believe in Moses.

36:36.040 --> 36:39.040
They have elevated their tradition above the word of God,

36:39.040 --> 36:43.040
and they have a fake sense of being right with God.

36:43.040 --> 36:47.040
They have a fake sense of true worship of the Father.

36:47.040 --> 36:51.040
He says, I proceeded forth and came from God, neither came of myself, but he sent me.

36:51.040 --> 36:54.040
Why do you not understand my speech?

36:54.040 --> 36:56.040
Even because you cannot hear my word.

36:56.040 --> 37:00.040
He's saying, how come you can't understand what I'm saying?

37:00.040 --> 37:03.040
It's like I'm telling you plainly and you just don't get it.

37:03.040 --> 37:04.040
He says, why?

37:04.040 --> 37:05.040
He says, why?

37:05.040 --> 37:09.040
Year of your father the devil, and the lust of your father you will do.

37:09.040 --> 37:13.040
He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth,

37:13.040 --> 37:15.040
because there is no truth in him.

37:15.040 --> 37:19.040
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.

37:19.040 --> 37:22.040
And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

37:22.040 --> 37:29.040
So what's interesting is the reason why they don't believe him is because he's telling the truth.

37:29.040 --> 37:32.040
If Jesus lied, then they would believe him.

37:32.040 --> 37:35.040
Any lie he says, they believe it.

37:35.040 --> 37:37.040
But if you tell the truth, now they don't like it.

37:37.040 --> 37:39.040
Now they're not going to believe it.

37:39.040 --> 37:44.040
And it's interesting because heretics and false prophets and false teachers,

37:44.040 --> 37:47.040
they can all get along because they just tell each other lies.

37:47.040 --> 37:51.040
And then they get mad at the one guy bringing in the truth.

37:51.040 --> 37:53.040
It's like, oh, why do you not believe what I'm telling you?

37:53.040 --> 37:54.040
It's because it was true.

37:54.040 --> 37:56.040
If I told you lies, it's great.

37:56.040 --> 37:58.040
Yeah, we could understand that.

37:58.040 --> 38:01.040
But because I tell you the truth, that's why you don't believe.

38:01.040 --> 38:04.040
Verse 46, which of you can offensive me of sin?

38:04.040 --> 38:06.040
And if I say the truth, why do you not believe me?

38:06.040 --> 38:10.040
He that is of God, heareth God's words.

38:10.040 --> 38:13.040
Ye therefore hear them not, because you're not of God.

38:13.040 --> 38:15.040
What does the Bible clearly teach?

38:15.040 --> 38:20.040
The Bible clearly teach that those that are of God will always hear God's word.

38:20.040 --> 38:25.040
And the only reason someone would not hear God's word is because they're just not of God.

38:25.040 --> 38:28.040
If you're of God, you hear God's word.

38:28.040 --> 38:30.040
If you're not of God, you can't hear God's word.

38:30.040 --> 38:32.040
It's not going to make sense to you.

38:32.040 --> 38:37.040
Of course, the Bible stands out as the diamond in the rough in this world.

38:37.040 --> 38:41.040
And we can see the inspiration of God in the scriptures.

38:41.040 --> 38:45.040
We can hear God's voice in the scriptures because we're of God.

38:45.040 --> 38:49.040
So when someone can't hear it, it's because there's something wrong with them.

38:49.040 --> 38:51.040
They're not of God.

38:51.040 --> 38:55.040
Again, we can all get into our flesh.

38:55.040 --> 38:58.040
We can all have wrong ideas.

38:58.040 --> 39:02.040
We can all even get into some levels of heresy is what the Bible says.

39:02.040 --> 39:07.040
But in general, when people just can't get the Bible and they don't like the Bible

39:07.040 --> 39:11.040
and they're just against the doctrines of the Bible, it's because they're just not of God.

39:11.040 --> 39:15.040
That's why they struggle to understand what the Bible is saying.

39:15.040 --> 39:18.040
The unsaved mind can't understand the scripture.

39:18.040 --> 39:21.040
Look at John chapter 12, verse 38.

39:21.040 --> 39:24.040
John chapter number 12, verse 38.

39:24.040 --> 39:29.040
That the saying of Isaiah, the prophet might be fulfilled,

39:29.040 --> 39:32.040
which he spake, Lord, who hath believed, are a port,

39:32.040 --> 39:35.040
and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed.

39:35.040 --> 39:39.040
Therefore they could not believe, because that Isaiah said again,

39:39.040 --> 39:43.040
he hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart,

39:43.040 --> 39:46.040
that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart,

39:46.040 --> 39:48.040
and be converted, and I should heal them.

39:48.040 --> 39:52.040
Now, this is kind of interesting because it's like,

39:52.040 --> 39:57.040
it's like if you don't want to receive what truth God is giving to you,

39:57.040 --> 40:02.040
then he'll make you to the point where you would not believe anything.

40:02.040 --> 40:07.040
I mean, the Bible is saying that he hardened their heart that they should not see.

40:07.040 --> 40:09.040
You see this with Pharaoh specifically.

40:09.040 --> 40:14.040
Pharaoh hardens his heart, and then God hardens his heart,

40:14.040 --> 40:17.040
so that they're just, everything just goes over their head.

40:17.040 --> 40:19.040
They just couldn't understand anything,

40:19.040 --> 40:25.040
and you just kind of see someone just being such a fool that it's kind of mind-boggling,

40:25.040 --> 40:30.040
and sometimes it's black-pilling to see what the world is like.

40:30.040 --> 40:33.040
You expose truth, you make clear statements, and they just can't get it.

40:33.040 --> 40:38.040
It just goes over their head, but for some people, especially in false religions,

40:38.040 --> 40:42.040
they've hardened their hearts, and then God came alongside and hardened it even more,

40:42.040 --> 40:46.040
to where it doesn't matter what you explained to them, what you showed them, how much truth.

40:46.040 --> 40:50.040
They could see it with their eyes physically, and they still wouldn't get it.

40:50.040 --> 40:53.040
Jesus could show up right before them, and they wouldn't even get it.

40:53.040 --> 40:55.040
Just like the Jews, they could not believe.

40:55.040 --> 40:57.040
They can't put their trust in it.

40:57.040 --> 41:00.040
I want to go to another place, go to Acts chapter 28.

41:00.040 --> 41:02.040
Go to Acts chapter 28.

41:02.040 --> 41:06.040
This is very much hammered about the Jews in the New Testament.

41:06.040 --> 41:10.040
Acts chapter 28, look at verse 25.

41:10.040 --> 41:13.040
This is the conclusion of the Apostle Paul.

41:13.040 --> 41:18.040
After he's done a lot of ministry, he really tried to get a lot of Jews saved.

41:18.040 --> 41:19.040
He went to the synagogues.

41:19.040 --> 41:22.040
He went to the Jew first in many cases.

41:22.040 --> 41:23.040
And what was his conclusion?

41:23.040 --> 41:26.040
Acts chapter 28, look at verse 25.

41:43.040 --> 42:05.040
So what is the Apostle Paul's opinion?

42:05.040 --> 42:10.040
He says, man, this is super evident because I've argued with every Jew.

42:10.040 --> 42:12.040
I went to the synagogue.

42:12.040 --> 42:14.040
I reasoned with them out of the Scriptures.

42:14.040 --> 42:18.040
I tried bending over backwards to get them saved.

42:18.040 --> 42:20.040
I proved it up and down.

42:20.040 --> 42:24.040
I showed them in all the Old Testament Scriptures, and they just won't believe it.

42:24.040 --> 42:26.040
They just won't get it.

42:26.040 --> 42:29.040
And so he's saying, well, you know what we should do?

42:29.040 --> 42:32.040
We should focus on the Gentiles because at least they'll get it.

42:32.040 --> 42:33.040
And you know what?

42:33.040 --> 42:40.040
It's funny because a lot of independent fundamental Baptist churches, they just don't believe or agree with this doctrine.

42:40.040 --> 42:51.040
They think that someone that you like, you just show them Jesus in Isaiah and you show them Jesus in the Psalms and you show them Jesus all over the Old Testament, and they just reject it and blaspheme and reject it and blaspheme and reject it.

42:51.040 --> 42:53.040
Well, eventually they're going to get it.

42:53.040 --> 42:54.040
No.

42:54.040 --> 42:58.040
I mean, the Bible says a man that is in heretic after the first and second admonition rejects.

42:58.040 --> 43:03.040
You know, at some point you have to realize like the antidote isn't working.

43:03.040 --> 43:10.040
Now, again, I'm not saying that, you know, your family member and your loved one that they don't get the gospel the first time you give up on them or something.

43:10.040 --> 43:12.040
And I'm not saying that we don't pray for the hard cases.

43:12.040 --> 43:16.040
And I'm not saying we shouldn't try to hope that someone could change their mind.

43:16.040 --> 43:20.040
But at the end of the day, sometimes you have to recognize not everybody's going to get it.

43:20.040 --> 43:21.040
Not everybody's interested.

43:21.040 --> 43:29.040
And when someone's just openly blaspheming and hating the word of God repeatedly, well, it's probably best to just move on and focus on a group that's interested.

43:29.040 --> 43:33.040
Go to the people that will hear and pay attention to them.

43:33.040 --> 43:36.040
And not everybody is going to believe the Bible.

43:36.040 --> 43:40.040
You know, the Bible talks about there's unreasonable and wicked men.

43:40.040 --> 43:43.040
You know, there's just some people that have not faith.

43:43.040 --> 43:44.040
There's just some people that won't believe.

43:44.040 --> 43:46.040
There's a lot of people that are just going to blaspheme.

43:46.040 --> 43:49.040
Go to Romans 10, go to Romans chapter 10.

43:49.040 --> 43:51.040
We're just kind of take a journey through the scripture here.

43:51.040 --> 43:53.040
But this is an important point.

43:53.040 --> 43:58.040
And, of course, God did not give that first generation a second chance.

43:58.040 --> 44:01.040
He said, hey, you're going to be in the wilderness and you're just going to die.

44:01.040 --> 44:05.040
It wasn't like, well, if you kind of get right, then you can go to the promised land.

44:05.040 --> 44:06.040
It was like you're done.

44:06.040 --> 44:13.040
You can get to a point where you make God angry enough that he just gets done with you and certain doors become closed in your life.

44:13.040 --> 44:18.040
And so that's why it's important that, you know, Bible says now is the accepted time.

44:18.040 --> 44:19.040
Now is the day of salvation.

44:19.040 --> 44:22.040
We can apply that to spiritual salvation.

44:22.040 --> 44:31.040
I think that could be liberally applied to virtually any area of our life where God wants us to hearken unto him now in the immediate moment.

44:31.040 --> 44:33.040
We need to repent, get right with God.

44:33.040 --> 44:35.040
He often gives us space to repent.

44:35.040 --> 44:41.040
But often, you know, you can close doors in your life if you don't make the change when necessary.

44:41.040 --> 44:51.040
The Bible says in Romans chapter 10, it says in verse number 20, But Isaiah is very bold and sayeth, I was found of them that sought me not.

44:51.040 --> 45:01.040
I was made manifest in them that asked not after me, but to Israel he saith all day long, I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

45:01.040 --> 45:07.040
So saying, look, I tried so much to get these people saved, but they just wouldn't listen.

45:07.040 --> 45:08.040
They wouldn't get it.

45:08.040 --> 45:13.040
Chapter 11, verse eight says, I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall?

45:13.040 --> 45:21.040
God forbid, but rather that or rather through their fall, salvation has come unto the Gentiles for to provoke them to jealousy.

45:21.040 --> 45:23.040
I said I said verse eight.

45:23.040 --> 45:24.040
I'm sort of reading verse 11.

45:24.040 --> 45:25.040
Go back to verse eight.

45:25.040 --> 45:33.040
According as is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear unto this day.

45:33.040 --> 45:39.040
And David saith, let their table be made a snare and a trap and a stumbling block and a recompense unto them.

45:39.040 --> 45:44.040
Let their eyes be darkened that they may not see and bow down their back all way.

45:44.040 --> 45:50.040
So it's kind of interesting that David himself is cursing these future Jews.

45:50.040 --> 45:59.040
It's like, you know, you just try to explain something to someone and they're just so irritating and they're just so annoying and obnoxious.

45:59.040 --> 46:03.040
They eventually get to a point you're just like, God, just make this person even more blind.

46:04.040 --> 46:14.040
Just just make this person just just punish them to where they won't even ever understand any truth or get any knowledge because they're just so evil and they just don't even want to get it.

46:14.040 --> 46:16.040
And you want to just sleep.

46:16.040 --> 46:17.040
Fine. Sleep.

46:17.040 --> 46:18.040
You want to be blind.

46:18.040 --> 46:19.040
Fine.

46:19.040 --> 46:22.040
Jesus said, you know, they're blind leaders of the blind.

46:22.040 --> 46:24.040
Let them alone.

46:24.040 --> 46:25.040
Let them alone.

46:25.040 --> 46:27.040
Let them lead the blind to a ditch.

46:27.040 --> 46:30.040
Obviously, that doesn't mean that Jesus didn't argue with them.

46:30.040 --> 46:31.040
You argued with them a lot.

46:31.040 --> 46:32.040
Doesn't mean that Jesus didn't prove them wrong.

46:32.040 --> 46:34.040
He proved them wrong for the sake of others.

46:34.040 --> 46:35.040
Right.

46:35.040 --> 46:43.040
And when he's, you know, the Apostle Paul's going into certain situations, he tried his hardest to get people saved.

46:43.040 --> 46:44.040
He entered into the synagogue.

46:44.040 --> 46:47.040
He he tried to convince a lot of people.

46:47.040 --> 46:50.040
And unfortunately, not that many would get it.

46:50.040 --> 46:53.040
You know, he would be spending a lot of time, a lot of effort.

46:53.040 --> 46:54.040
People are getting mad at him.

46:54.040 --> 46:55.040
But some people did.

46:55.040 --> 46:58.040
And he was doing it for the elect's sake anyways.

46:58.040 --> 47:03.040
The Bible says for us to earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered under the saints.

47:03.040 --> 47:08.040
You know, I want to still go out there even though it's you're not going to see massive results.

47:08.040 --> 47:10.040
You're not going to see everybody turning to Christ.

47:10.040 --> 47:12.040
You're going to run into all kinds of messy.

47:12.040 --> 47:13.040
I mean, it's a messy world.

47:13.040 --> 47:14.040
It's a muddy world.

47:14.040 --> 47:15.040
It's gross.

47:15.040 --> 47:21.040
You're going to get made fun of, laughed at, scoffed, ridiculed, persecuted, hated of this world.

47:21.040 --> 47:22.040
You know what?

47:22.040 --> 47:24.040
At the end of the day, it's for the elect's sake.

47:24.040 --> 47:27.040
You're not going to get the masses by preaching the truth.

47:27.040 --> 47:30.040
You're not going to get the love and attention for preaching the truth.

47:30.040 --> 47:33.040
You got that for giving them food.

47:33.040 --> 47:36.040
I mean, they like Jesus for the miracle.

47:36.040 --> 47:38.040
They like Jesus for the food.

47:38.040 --> 47:41.040
But then as soon as he started preaching, they all left.

47:41.040 --> 47:44.040
He got 5,000 followers in one day.

47:44.040 --> 47:48.040
And then they all unsubbed after the sermon.

47:49.040 --> 47:54.040
I can't tell you how many times I've met people in my life and they like me, like initially.

47:54.040 --> 47:57.040
They kind of like me or they're like really friendly.

47:57.040 --> 48:00.040
And then I start explaining what I believe about stuff and it's just it's over.

48:00.040 --> 48:07.040
You know, it's just it's over very quickly because, you know, the truth is just not something that everybody likes.

48:07.040 --> 48:12.040
Most of us all struggle with the truth a little bit when we start getting feeling the heat.

48:13.040 --> 48:18.040
And so, you know, even even the disciples, Jesus is like, are you going to go away too?

48:18.040 --> 48:20.040
And he's like, to whom shall we go?

48:20.040 --> 48:23.040
You know, thou hast the words of eternal life.

48:23.040 --> 48:28.040
Jesus has the eternal the words of eternal life because he is the the words of eternal life.

48:28.040 --> 48:30.040
I want to go to one more place.

48:30.040 --> 48:34.040
Go to First Corinthians, chapter number two, go to First Corinthians, chapter number two.

48:34.040 --> 48:39.040
I'm just showing you that the Bible emphasizes that the Bible is the word of life.

48:39.040 --> 48:47.040
I'm just showing you that the Bible emphasizes this idea that the vast majority of the unsaved or whatever, they're just not going to get it.

48:47.040 --> 48:48.040
They're not going to see it.

48:48.040 --> 48:56.040
And the Bible teaches that, obviously, the Jews specifically Pharaoh, they got to a really reprobate point where nothing could fix it.

48:56.040 --> 49:00.040
But look, the unsaved mind can't comprehend the things of God.

49:00.040 --> 49:04.040
And the Bible emphasizes this in First Corinthians, chapter number two, verse 11.

49:04.040 --> 49:13.040
For what man knoweth the things of a man save the spirit of man which is in him, even so the things of God knoweth no man but the spirit of God.

49:13.040 --> 49:22.040
Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God,

49:22.040 --> 49:34.040
which things also we speak not in the words by which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

49:34.040 --> 49:43.040
So, you know, when we try to teach someone the Bible or we want people to understand who God is or we want people to get closer to God, we don't use man's wisdom.

49:43.040 --> 49:45.040
We don't use man's words.

49:45.040 --> 49:47.040
We use the scripture.

49:47.040 --> 49:50.040
We compare spiritual with spiritual.

49:50.040 --> 49:58.040
That's the wisdom that we speak is God's word says verse 14, but the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God.

49:58.040 --> 50:01.040
Notice this for their foolishness unto him.

50:01.040 --> 50:12.040
If you preach what the Bible says correctly, they will say that you're a fool and an idiot and stupid and dumb and low IQ and whatever else they can throw at you.

50:12.040 --> 50:16.040
Because at the end of the day, they can't get it.

50:16.040 --> 50:17.040
They can't get it.

50:17.040 --> 50:22.040
Neither can he know them because they're spiritually discerned, but he that is spiritual judges all things.

50:22.040 --> 50:27.040
Yet he himself is judged of no man for he hath known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him.

50:27.040 --> 50:29.040
But we have the mind of Christ.

50:29.040 --> 50:30.040
How do we have the mind of Christ?

50:30.040 --> 50:31.040
Because we have the word of God.

50:31.040 --> 50:33.040
This is the mind of Christ.

50:33.040 --> 50:35.040
So we can compare spiritual with spiritual.

50:35.040 --> 50:43.040
We can know what God thinks about every single issue that is pertinent to Christian faith.

50:43.040 --> 50:44.040
Christian faith.

50:44.040 --> 50:48.040
Obviously, there's a lot of free will God gives us in our lives.

50:48.040 --> 50:50.040
There's a lot of things that the Bible doesn't talk about.

50:50.040 --> 50:52.040
You say, well, how am I supposed to know what to do there?

50:52.040 --> 50:53.040
You get free will.

50:53.040 --> 50:57.040
Everything that you need to know, it's in the Bible.

50:57.040 --> 51:01.040
If it's not mentioned in the Bible, you have free will.

51:01.040 --> 51:04.040
Like of all the trees of the garden, I must freely eat.

51:04.040 --> 51:07.040
Couldn't Adam be like, well, should I eat of this one or this one?

51:07.040 --> 51:08.040
The Bible's not telling me.

51:08.040 --> 51:09.040
Yet you have the free will.

51:09.040 --> 51:12.040
You can literally choose whichever of the trees that you want.

51:12.040 --> 51:13.040
But there's a rule.

51:13.040 --> 51:16.040
There's one tree you're not supposed to eat from.

51:16.040 --> 51:18.040
And that's really the only rule you need to worry about.

51:18.040 --> 51:22.040
And it's funny how so many Christians, they're so worried about the things the Bible doesn't say.

51:22.040 --> 51:27.040
And they're trying to come up with rules and suggestions and guidelines for all things the Bible's not talking about.

51:27.040 --> 51:30.040
As opposed to just preaching what the Bible actually says.

51:30.040 --> 51:35.040
It's like we need to stop worrying about rules that don't exist in the Bible.

51:35.040 --> 51:38.040
And worry about the rules that actually do exist in the Bible.

51:38.040 --> 51:40.040
And of course, how do you know that?

51:40.040 --> 51:42.040
Because we have the mind of Christ, which is the Word of God.

51:42.040 --> 51:44.040
And you say, how do you know it's the Word of God?

51:44.040 --> 51:46.040
Because he that is God heareth God's Word.

51:46.040 --> 51:47.040
It's that simple.

51:47.040 --> 51:50.040
Going back to Deuteronomy chapter number 29.

51:50.040 --> 51:56.040
In fact, I remember hearing some people say they didn't believe the book of Esther was the Word of God.

51:56.040 --> 52:00.040
I think it was like Text Mars or something, which he's dead and so he can't defend himself.

52:00.040 --> 52:08.040
But, you know, regardless, you know, even Christians I've heard were skeptical of books like Esther or others being canon, being the Word of God.

52:08.040 --> 52:12.040
And, you know, they would bring up some things that were interesting about the book of Esther.

52:12.040 --> 52:14.040
It's not quoted in the New Testament.

52:14.040 --> 52:18.040
We don't have like a quote or something like that or some kind of a reference.

52:18.040 --> 52:20.040
It also doesn't use the word God or Lord.

52:20.040 --> 52:31.040
And so some of those reasons, some people, you know, they get this like anti-Semitic bug to where everything that's positive about Jews is somehow satanic.

52:31.040 --> 52:35.040
And so they'd say, well, the book of Esther is a little bit pro-Jew.

52:35.040 --> 52:37.040
So, you know, it's a Jewish conspiracy or something.

52:37.040 --> 52:45.040
It's like, no, that's just, you know, again, that doesn't mean that just because there's a positive mention of a Jew somewhere that it's wrong.

52:45.040 --> 52:49.040
I know it might sound wrong, but it doesn't mean it's definitely wrong.

52:49.040 --> 52:51.040
OK.

52:51.040 --> 52:56.040
And so I just remember like thinking like, OK, how do I prove that the book of Esther is the Word of God?

52:56.040 --> 52:58.040
Or like, how do I know?

52:58.040 --> 53:01.040
And I remember just thinking about this and dwelling on this for probably a while.

53:01.040 --> 53:04.040
I mean, I don't even know the exact amount of time, probably at least a year.

53:04.040 --> 53:05.040
Maybe months.

53:05.040 --> 53:13.040
And it was not on purpose, but just one day reading something or just dwelling on the Word of God.

53:13.040 --> 53:16.040
It's like the entire book of Esther just clicked.

53:16.040 --> 53:21.040
And I just it was something that I had, you know, experienced occasionally.

53:21.040 --> 53:25.040
But it's just like the Holy Spirit just kind of enlightened me to understand the book of Esther.

53:25.040 --> 53:31.040
And it was really cool because it's just like, that's how I know it's the Word of God, because it unlocks.

53:31.040 --> 53:36.040
And I preached a sermon on this in Sandston Park a long time ago called The Book of Esther Explained.

53:36.040 --> 53:42.040
But the book of Esther just has a kind of like a perfect parallel to the end times.

53:42.040 --> 53:46.040
And it just has all of these different aspects of the end times.

53:46.040 --> 53:51.040
And it's just basically a picture perfect, you know, timeline and chronology.

53:51.040 --> 53:55.040
And it just it has God's voice, obviously, on every single page.

53:55.040 --> 53:57.040
And so it's just extra confirmation.

53:57.040 --> 54:03.040
You know, there's things that we take by faith and then sometimes God reveals them to us or confirms them to us.

54:03.040 --> 54:05.040
And it's kind of like salvation.

54:05.040 --> 54:08.040
It's like you take that step of faith by putting your faith in Jesus Christ.

54:08.040 --> 54:14.040
But then, you know, reading the Bible and going soul winning and changing your life.

54:14.040 --> 54:20.040
It just keeps confirming you that you're saved and that you have the Holy Ghost and, you know, you have you become enlightened.

54:20.040 --> 54:24.040
Whereas if you get away from church and not reading the Bible, you're not serving God.

54:24.040 --> 54:29.040
Sometimes you can kind of lose that confirmation in your life.

54:29.040 --> 54:35.040
You can kind of forget that you've been purged from your sins or you can kind of lose faith or you can become very backslidden.

54:35.040 --> 54:45.040
And so that's why it's important to keep serving God because he'll keep confirming to you, you know, all the all the truths of the Bible, all the things that he promises will come true in your life.

54:45.040 --> 54:47.040
And it should be extra confirmation.

54:47.040 --> 54:50.040
And we should constantly count our blessings when these things happen.

54:50.040 --> 54:56.040
But this group of people, they it didn't matter what God did for them.

54:56.040 --> 54:58.040
They just weren't going to get it.

54:58.040 --> 55:00.040
And we don't want to be that kind of people.

55:00.040 --> 55:08.040
We don't want to harden our hearts where we forgot we forget God's blessings in our lives as the confirmation.

55:08.040 --> 55:11.040
You know, it's like our church has gone through so much persecution.

55:11.040 --> 55:18.040
And in the last like two years, it's been almost nothing, especially by comparison, by comparison, virtually nothing.

55:18.040 --> 55:21.040
Obviously, it's still more than your average church in the world.

55:21.040 --> 55:24.040
But just by comparison, it's virtually nothing.

55:24.040 --> 55:29.040
But we don't want to forget how much God delivered us through those events.

55:29.040 --> 55:32.040
And it's like the children of Israel, it's like, hey, I don't want you to forget what I did for you.

55:32.040 --> 55:34.040
He's going to bring up some things like verse four.

55:34.040 --> 55:36.040
Yet the Lord, I'm sorry, verse five.

55:36.040 --> 55:40.040
And I have led you 40 years in the wilderness.

55:40.040 --> 55:45.040
Your clothes are not wax and old upon you and my shoe is not wax and old upon my foot.

55:45.040 --> 55:50.040
Who in here is wearing a shirt that's 40 years old?

55:50.040 --> 55:53.040
Who in here has a shoe that's 40 years old?

55:53.040 --> 55:58.040
There's probably women in here that have shoes and clothes they've never worn.

55:58.040 --> 56:03.040
But there's probably no one in here that's clothes that they've worn for 40 years straight.

56:03.040 --> 56:05.040
And look, they were walking through the wilderness.

56:05.040 --> 56:11.040
They didn't have a closet full of just hundreds of clothing items that they get to swap.

56:11.040 --> 56:14.040
They don't have matching outfits for every one of their purses.

56:14.040 --> 56:21.040
They're wearing the same shirts and the same pants and the same dresses and the same skirts and the same shoes.

56:21.040 --> 56:23.040
I mean, these things weren't made in China, folks.

56:23.040 --> 56:26.040
OK, they lasted 40 years.

56:26.040 --> 56:29.040
But but why did they last 40 years?

56:29.040 --> 56:32.040
It's humanly impossible.

56:32.040 --> 56:34.040
I mean, they're not just at home.

56:34.040 --> 56:36.040
They're walking through the wilderness.

56:36.040 --> 56:39.040
This is a rough landscape.

56:39.040 --> 56:41.040
This is a harsh environment.

56:42.040 --> 56:53.040
The fact that their clothes lasted on them was a testimony that God providentially allowed their clothing to last them and endure such harsh conditions.

56:53.040 --> 56:55.040
This was a blessing of God.

56:55.040 --> 56:58.040
This is him delivering them in a mighty way.

56:58.040 --> 56:59.040
That's a miracle.

56:59.040 --> 57:04.040
But, you know, you don't necessarily think about how old your shirt is.

57:04.040 --> 57:06.040
You just grab it and put it on.

57:06.040 --> 57:09.040
You're not like, man, this shirt's lasted me like seven years or 10 years.

57:10.040 --> 57:12.040
So it's real easy to just take it for granted.

57:12.040 --> 57:19.040
It's real easy to just take things for granted that are working because you're not really thinking about it not working.

57:19.040 --> 57:22.040
You typically only think about things not working when they stop working.

57:22.040 --> 57:29.040
It's like when you're older, you start realizing there's all these muscles in your back that you didn't even know existed.

57:29.040 --> 57:33.040
But when it stops working, you're like, wow, I didn't even know that was there, you know.

57:33.040 --> 57:36.040
But I just took it for granted that it always worked.

57:36.040 --> 57:39.040
And now I realize it's nice when it does work.

57:39.040 --> 57:42.040
In the same way, it's like they just didn't really think about it.

57:42.040 --> 57:50.040
It's probably absent from their mind about, hey, I've been putting this shirt on for 40 years and I'm still able to fit it.

57:50.040 --> 57:52.040
You know, that's another miracle, right?

57:52.040 --> 57:53.040
It still fits.

57:53.040 --> 57:54.040
No, just kidding.

57:54.040 --> 58:00.040
But he says in verse six, you have not eaten bread, neither have you drunk wine or strong drink that you might know that I'm the Lord your God.

58:00.040 --> 58:06.040
Now, again, I'm going to heavily focus on the first parts of this chapter.

58:06.040 --> 58:08.040
So don't get so nervous, all right?

58:08.040 --> 58:11.040
But I do want to spend some time dwelling on this verse as well, okay?

58:11.040 --> 58:14.040
And we'll still get through the rest of this chapter, I promise you, all right?

58:14.040 --> 58:23.040
But I just this is a verse that I think should is worth time unpacking a little bit just because of how much drunkenness exists in our society.

58:23.040 --> 58:26.040
And this is not a green light to get drunk, okay?

58:26.040 --> 58:29.040
Now, what does he really mean here in verse six?

58:29.040 --> 58:35.040
You have not eaten bread, neither have drunk wine or strong drink that you might know that I am the Lord your God.

58:35.040 --> 58:38.040
Let's really put our thinking caps on for a moment.

58:38.040 --> 58:40.040
So I want you to understand what this is saying.

58:40.040 --> 58:44.040
In verse number five, he is saying, I performed a miracle.

58:44.040 --> 58:46.040
What was the miracle?

58:46.040 --> 58:48.040
Their clothes did not wax old.

58:48.040 --> 58:57.040
So that's evidence that God delivered them through the wilderness because if it wasn't for God, all of their clothes would have wasted away.

58:57.040 --> 59:00.040
And they would have been naked, literally.

59:00.040 --> 59:02.040
You know why they would have been naked?

59:02.040 --> 59:04.040
Because there's not a Costco.

59:04.040 --> 59:06.040
There's not a Walmart.

59:06.040 --> 59:08.040
There's no there's not enough animal skin.

59:08.040 --> 59:11.040
There's not there's they don't have crops that they're growing.

59:11.040 --> 59:14.040
They can't weave together linen.

59:14.040 --> 59:21.040
They would literally their clothes would have literally ripped and torn and they would have been naked or destitute of clothing.

59:21.040 --> 59:27.040
They would have been in rags if it wasn't for God providentially giving them this clothing.

59:27.040 --> 59:33.040
So the fact that their clothes are still on them is a fact of God's miracle deliverance.

59:33.040 --> 59:36.040
That's the same context of verse number six.

59:36.040 --> 59:37.040
What is the context?

59:37.040 --> 59:38.040
They didn't eat bread.

59:38.040 --> 59:40.040
Now, again, we have to understand what he's meaning here.

59:40.040 --> 59:42.040
They did eat bread.

59:42.040 --> 59:44.040
They just didn't eat a certain type of bread.

59:44.040 --> 59:45.040
What is he saying?

59:45.040 --> 59:50.040
They ate manna, which was from heaven, but they did not grow wheat.

59:50.040 --> 59:54.040
And turn that into grain to make flour and make their own bread.

59:54.040 --> 59:57.040
That was like a normal bread that everybody else is eating on the world.

59:57.040 --> 01:00:00.040
Everybody else in the world just eating normal bread from grain.

01:00:00.040 --> 01:00:01.040
They're in the wilderness.

01:00:01.040 --> 01:00:02.040
They're not growing crops.

01:00:02.040 --> 01:00:03.040
They don't have grain.

01:00:03.040 --> 01:00:04.040
They're not trading with anybody.

01:00:04.040 --> 01:00:08.040
There's no one importing goods to their little wilderness trail.

01:00:08.040 --> 01:00:10.040
How did they survive?

01:00:10.040 --> 01:00:15.040
They had to gather manna and eat the manna, which was heavenly bread.

01:00:15.040 --> 01:00:22.040
So saying, remember, you lasted 40 years without growing a single crop.

01:00:22.040 --> 01:00:24.040
You had no imports.

01:00:24.040 --> 01:00:26.040
You did not have bread.

01:00:26.040 --> 01:00:27.040
You didn't have wine.

01:00:27.040 --> 01:00:30.040
Again, they're not growing grapes either in the wilderness.

01:00:30.040 --> 01:00:33.040
So all of these are really easy to understand so far.

01:00:33.040 --> 01:00:34.040
But then there's strong drink.

01:00:34.040 --> 01:00:36.040
And that's what I want to focus on.

01:00:36.040 --> 01:00:37.040
What is he saying?

01:00:37.040 --> 01:00:43.040
You somehow survived the wilderness without any bread, without any wine,

01:00:43.040 --> 01:00:48.040
which would just be, of course, juice, as we understand it, or strong drink.

01:00:48.040 --> 01:00:49.040
What is strong drink?

01:00:49.040 --> 01:00:54.040
I think it's clear in the Bible that strong drink is a very intoxicated beverage.

01:00:54.040 --> 01:01:00.040
Albeit, it's probably not even close to what we have as like hard liquors today

01:01:00.040 --> 01:01:06.040
because the process of distilling liquors seems to be a modern invention.

01:01:06.040 --> 01:01:10.040
Albeit, it would have been a more intoxicating beverage

01:01:10.040 --> 01:01:15.040
and probably just a typical wine that had been fermented.

01:01:15.040 --> 01:01:20.040
So it's definitely, whatever their strongest version of alcoholic beverage is,

01:01:20.040 --> 01:01:22.040
that's what the strong drink is.

01:01:22.040 --> 01:01:23.040
I'm not going to put out a percentage.

01:01:23.040 --> 01:01:26.040
I have no idea what percentage of the alcohol it was.

01:01:26.040 --> 01:01:31.040
But it's probably still not even necessarily as high as some of the alcohols we had today.

01:01:31.040 --> 01:01:35.040
Maybe it is, and we just don't know their technology or their processes back then.

01:01:35.040 --> 01:01:37.040
But it's definitely an alcoholic beverage.

01:01:37.040 --> 01:01:39.040
Why would this be the case?

01:01:39.040 --> 01:01:42.040
Like, hey, you know, you made it through the wilderness of the miracle

01:01:42.040 --> 01:01:44.040
because you didn't have booze.

01:01:44.040 --> 01:01:47.040
Like on the surface, it kind of seems difficult to understand.

01:01:47.040 --> 01:01:52.040
But this is what I want you to understand is that alcohol,

01:01:52.040 --> 01:01:57.040
especially strong alcohol, in this context, for these people at this time,

01:01:57.040 --> 01:02:00.040
would have been like a medicine.

01:02:01.040 --> 01:02:07.040
Today, if you need a painkiller or if you need some kind of a pain relief,

01:02:07.040 --> 01:02:12.040
you go to the pharmacy or to the drug store and you get some kind of a drug.

01:02:12.040 --> 01:02:17.040
That's just medicine to basically aid or help you in your situation.

01:02:17.040 --> 01:02:21.040
They don't have CVS. They don't have Walgreens.

01:02:21.040 --> 01:02:23.040
They don't have any of this kind of stuff.

01:02:23.040 --> 01:02:28.040
So of course, strong drink would be basically their form of pain relief or medicine

01:02:28.040 --> 01:02:32.040
in specific circumstances while they're going through the wilderness.

01:02:32.040 --> 01:02:35.040
This is not a recreational booze.

01:02:35.040 --> 01:02:38.040
They're not having mixed drinks with dinner.

01:02:38.040 --> 01:02:40.040
They're not drinking alcohol for fun.

01:02:40.040 --> 01:02:43.040
It's basically their form of medicine.

01:02:43.040 --> 01:02:45.040
But again, what is the context?

01:02:45.040 --> 01:02:48.040
The context is that they didn't do this, right?

01:02:48.040 --> 01:02:51.040
It says that you did not eat bread, you did not drink wine,

01:02:51.040 --> 01:02:53.040
you did not drink strong drink.

01:02:53.040 --> 01:02:57.040
So if someone were to go through the wilderness without God's help,

01:02:57.040 --> 01:02:58.040
how could they do it?

01:02:58.040 --> 01:03:03.040
Well, if they had an abundance of food and beverages and medicine,

01:03:03.040 --> 01:03:07.040
well, then they could have made it through by their own means, right?

01:03:07.040 --> 01:03:12.040
But without any food, without any beverage, and without any medicine,

01:03:12.040 --> 01:03:15.040
they were able to get through the wilderness of those 40 years,

01:03:15.040 --> 01:03:17.040
which is a what? It's a testimony to God.

01:03:17.040 --> 01:03:22.040
God was allowed to take them through the wilderness without this food,

01:03:23.040 --> 01:03:26.040
without this beverage, without this medicine.

01:03:26.040 --> 01:03:28.040
That's the testimony to God.

01:03:28.040 --> 01:03:29.040
Think about it this way.

01:03:29.040 --> 01:03:33.040
What if you went 10 years of your life never getting sick or injured in any way?

01:03:33.040 --> 01:03:35.040
That would be a great thing, right?

01:03:35.040 --> 01:03:37.040
And he's basically saying, think about this.

01:03:37.040 --> 01:03:42.040
What if you did it for 40 years and not just you, all million of you?

01:03:42.040 --> 01:03:45.040
Well, that's a miracle because let's just face it.

01:03:45.040 --> 01:03:51.040
How can millions of people go 40 years without needing any medicine whatsoever

01:03:51.040 --> 01:03:53.040
or painkillers for 40 years?

01:03:53.040 --> 01:03:55.040
I mean, that's just kind of absurd, right?

01:03:55.040 --> 01:03:59.040
They were able to get through this because of God blessing them,

01:03:59.040 --> 01:04:04.040
God taking care of them, providentially allowing them to get through this wilderness.

01:04:04.040 --> 01:04:07.040
Of course, there's spiritual layers of this.

01:04:07.040 --> 01:04:10.040
I'm going to go, I'm going to dwell on this point, go to Leviticus chapter 10.

01:04:10.040 --> 01:04:14.040
You know, wilderness is kind of a picture of the Christian life.

01:04:14.040 --> 01:04:18.040
And we as Christians are, we're like going through the wilderness.

01:04:18.040 --> 01:04:19.040
Think about this.

01:04:19.040 --> 01:04:24.040
When you put your trust in God, he's able to get you from now until heaven

01:04:24.040 --> 01:04:27.040
without you having to stockpile all the things of this world.

01:04:27.040 --> 01:04:30.040
You seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,

01:04:30.040 --> 01:04:33.040
and he adds all these things unto you.

01:04:33.040 --> 01:04:36.040
Whereas the rich are seeking for the bread and the wine

01:04:36.040 --> 01:04:39.040
and the medicines of this world to last them.

01:04:39.040 --> 01:04:43.040
And isn't it funny, so many people that are seeking the medicines of this world today die so young.

01:04:43.040 --> 01:04:47.040
Didn't the Jew that owns like OnlyFans or something die recently,

01:04:47.040 --> 01:04:50.040
like 40 years old or something?

01:04:50.040 --> 01:04:52.040
I mean, the guy's probably a billionaire.

01:04:52.040 --> 01:04:57.040
I mean, set for sure hundreds of millions of dollars,

01:04:57.040 --> 01:05:00.040
has unlimited money, unlimited medicine, whatever,

01:05:00.040 --> 01:05:02.040
dies at 40, dies at 50 or whatever.

01:05:02.040 --> 01:05:06.040
Why? Because he's a wicked, evil, satanic piece of dung that's burning in hell.

01:05:06.040 --> 01:05:08.040
Okay, that corrupted our country.

01:05:08.040 --> 01:05:11.040
Because it doesn't matter how much money you have,

01:05:11.040 --> 01:05:15.040
hey, God can strike you dead wherever you are.

01:05:15.040 --> 01:05:18.040
And you know what? You could be poor and destitute,

01:05:18.040 --> 01:05:21.040
and God can just preserve you and deliver you and take you to the end,

01:05:21.040 --> 01:05:24.040
and you can still live a long, prosperous life,

01:05:24.040 --> 01:05:28.040
maybe not financially, but just prosperous in the kingdom of God,

01:05:28.040 --> 01:05:35.040
without all that money, with all that smut and filth and degeneracy

01:05:35.040 --> 01:05:38.040
that many people are pouring out in our country.

01:05:38.040 --> 01:05:41.040
But I want to further prove this point, because it's a Bible study.

01:05:41.040 --> 01:05:45.040
I don't want to walk away and you have a weird idea about strong drink.

01:05:45.040 --> 01:05:47.040
Now, strong drink, I'm not going to go to every mention.

01:05:47.040 --> 01:05:50.040
There's about 20 in the Bible, but I want to go to several of them.

01:05:50.040 --> 01:05:54.040
Look at Leviticus chapter number 10, verse number 9.

01:05:54.040 --> 01:05:56.040
The Bible says,

01:05:56.040 --> 01:06:02.040
Do not drink wine, nor strong drink, thou nor thy sons with thee,

01:06:02.040 --> 01:06:06.040
when you go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die.

01:06:06.040 --> 01:06:10.040
It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations.

01:06:10.040 --> 01:06:13.040
Now, Nadeb and Abihu, they offer strange fire before the Lord,

01:06:13.040 --> 01:06:18.040
and the implication or the assumption is that these guys went into the house

01:06:18.040 --> 01:06:23.040
and got drunk in some way, and that's why they offered this strange fire.

01:06:23.040 --> 01:06:27.040
They started a new tradition, and it was smoked, all right?

01:06:27.040 --> 01:06:29.040
They got burned immediately.

01:06:29.040 --> 01:06:32.040
And again, what would be a modern day application?

01:06:32.040 --> 01:06:34.040
Well, just don't show up at church drunk, right?

01:06:34.040 --> 01:06:36.040
I mean, that seems pretty obvious, pretty clear.

01:06:37.040 --> 01:06:43.040
But again, this would be obviously a prohibition on drinking strong drink,

01:06:43.040 --> 01:06:45.040
but again, it's in a context.

01:06:45.040 --> 01:06:48.040
It's in a context of going to the house of the Lord.

01:06:48.040 --> 01:06:51.040
Why? Because you're going to do weird, strange things,

01:06:51.040 --> 01:06:53.040
showing the intoxicating effects of strong drink.

01:06:53.040 --> 01:06:56.040
Go to Numbers chapter 6. Go to Numbers chapter number 6.

01:06:56.040 --> 01:07:01.040
So obviously, biblically speaking, drinking strong drink is not a good idea.

01:07:01.040 --> 01:07:04.040
There's no way that we could draw any other conclusion

01:07:04.040 --> 01:07:06.040
than the fact that it's not a good idea.

01:07:06.040 --> 01:07:09.040
You're going to do weird things, strange things.

01:07:09.040 --> 01:07:12.040
That's the implication for Nadab and Abihu.

01:07:12.040 --> 01:07:14.040
Numbers chapter 6, verse 3.

01:07:23.040 --> 01:07:25.040
So when someone makes a Nazarite vow,

01:07:25.040 --> 01:07:29.040
they are to abstain completely from drinking any beverage

01:07:29.040 --> 01:07:32.040
that is coming from the fruit of the vine,

01:07:32.040 --> 01:07:35.040
whether it be grape juice or some other equivalent fruit,

01:07:35.040 --> 01:07:38.040
including and up to strong drink.

01:07:38.040 --> 01:07:40.040
Go to Numbers 28.

01:07:40.040 --> 01:07:45.040
We see Jesus Christ, even when he's going to the cross,

01:07:45.040 --> 01:07:48.040
he's offered some kind of a medicinal drink

01:07:48.040 --> 01:07:52.040
that could either kill him quicker or maybe dead in the pain or something,

01:07:52.040 --> 01:07:54.040
and he refuses it. He doesn't want to drink it.

01:07:54.040 --> 01:07:57.040
And so you could kind of see like even Jesus is refusing

01:07:57.040 --> 01:08:01.040
this strong drink in that particular way.

01:08:01.040 --> 01:08:04.040
Numbers chapter 28, look at verse 7.

01:08:15.040 --> 01:08:19.040
So in the Old Testament, sometimes they use strong drink as a poor offering.

01:08:19.040 --> 01:08:21.040
And again, why? Why would you use a strong drink?

01:08:21.040 --> 01:08:25.040
Well, again, it's been fermented, so it kind of has that same picture of leaven,

01:08:25.040 --> 01:08:27.040
which is a picture of what? Sin.

01:08:27.040 --> 01:08:29.040
And of course, why was it poured out?

01:08:29.040 --> 01:08:31.040
Well, it's showing the fact that Jesus Christ

01:08:31.040 --> 01:08:33.040
bear our sins and his own body on the tree

01:08:33.040 --> 01:08:36.040
and that his blood was spilled for our sin.

01:08:36.040 --> 01:08:38.040
OK, so why would you use an intoxicating beverage?

01:08:38.040 --> 01:08:41.040
Because the intoxicating beverage is the picture of Christ

01:08:41.040 --> 01:08:44.040
bearing our sins and his own body. Right?

01:08:44.040 --> 01:08:47.040
Now, we say, why would they have the intoxicating beverage?

01:08:47.040 --> 01:08:51.040
It's probably only accessible for medicinal purposes.

01:08:51.040 --> 01:08:55.040
But at the end of the day, don't some people abuse medicine today?

01:08:55.040 --> 01:08:58.040
So am I supposed to believe that no one's abusing the medicine

01:08:58.040 --> 01:09:00.040
of the ancient civilizations of strong drink

01:09:00.040 --> 01:09:04.040
or making strong drink on purpose to be abused?

01:09:04.040 --> 01:09:08.040
You know, it's not to be recreationally used in the same way that today

01:09:08.040 --> 01:09:12.040
you shouldn't be recreationally using painkillers and drugs.

01:09:12.040 --> 01:09:15.040
They're highly addictive. They can harm you in so many different ways.

01:09:15.040 --> 01:09:18.040
And of course, booze specifically, alcohol specifically,

01:09:18.040 --> 01:09:22.040
has a lot of verses in the Bible that are very negative towards them.

01:09:22.040 --> 01:09:25.040
The other way to Deuteronomy chapter 14, Deuteronomy chapter 14.

01:09:25.040 --> 01:09:27.040
And I'm trying to paint an honest picture here

01:09:27.040 --> 01:09:32.040
because there are some verses that have some what seems like positive mentions.

01:09:32.040 --> 01:09:36.040
And I don't want us to, you know, be easily swayed away from this

01:09:36.040 --> 01:09:38.040
to think that drinking is cool now or something.

01:09:38.040 --> 01:09:40.040
Or like, hey, let's go out and just get drunk.

01:09:40.040 --> 01:09:43.040
Or let's have a wine party at church.

01:09:43.040 --> 01:09:47.040
Now, that sounds crazy, but I am not joking.

01:09:47.040 --> 01:09:50.040
When I grew up in a church, it was a non-denominational church.

01:09:50.040 --> 01:09:53.040
We had this guy come in that was like an assistant pastor at the time

01:09:53.040 --> 01:09:55.040
or he was part of leadership.

01:09:55.040 --> 01:09:57.040
And it was his first time to preach to our congregation.

01:09:57.040 --> 01:10:02.040
And he said, hey, I had this like dream last night, whatever,

01:10:02.040 --> 01:10:05.040
that we should have a wine tasting at church.

01:10:05.040 --> 01:10:09.040
And he was just basically like putting the feeler out there

01:10:09.040 --> 01:10:12.040
to just see how the congregation would respond to this idea of like,

01:10:12.040 --> 01:10:15.040
you know, having just this party at church

01:10:15.040 --> 01:10:18.040
where everybody's just drinking wine together.

01:10:18.040 --> 01:10:22.040
And I was just like, what in the world? This guy is wicked as hell.

01:10:22.040 --> 01:10:24.040
Like, this is your first sermon?

01:10:24.040 --> 01:10:29.040
Your first sermon to the church is like, hey, let's all get drunk.

01:10:29.040 --> 01:10:33.040
And of course, you know, they want to sit here and be like, oh, we wouldn't get drunk.

01:10:33.040 --> 01:10:35.040
You're going to tell me that you're going to have thousands of people,

01:10:35.040 --> 01:10:37.040
because this is a big church, you're going to have thousands of people

01:10:37.040 --> 01:10:41.040
coming to an open bar at church, unlimited wine,

01:10:41.040 --> 01:10:43.040
and no one's going to get drunk.

01:10:43.040 --> 01:10:45.040
No one is going to intoxicate themselves.

01:10:45.040 --> 01:10:46.040
No one's going to go over the limit.

01:10:46.040 --> 01:10:48.040
I mean, what kind of foolishness and nonsense?

01:10:48.040 --> 01:10:49.040
It's the house of God.

01:10:49.040 --> 01:10:51.040
I mean, you're trying to be like, Neda having a bite.

01:10:51.040 --> 01:10:54.040
It's like a playbook out of Neba and Abihu's tradition.

01:10:54.040 --> 01:10:57.040
It's like, hey, let's see what we should do here.

01:10:57.040 --> 01:11:01.040
It's wicked. It's evil. It's satanic. It makes no sense.

01:11:01.040 --> 01:11:03.040
Strange fire.

01:11:03.040 --> 01:11:05.040
Deuteronomy chapter 14, look at verse 26.

01:11:05.040 --> 01:11:09.040
And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after,

01:11:09.040 --> 01:11:12.040
for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink,

01:11:12.040 --> 01:11:15.040
or for whatsoever thy soul desireth, and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God,

01:11:15.040 --> 01:11:17.040
and thou shalt rejoice thou in thine household.

01:11:17.040 --> 01:11:18.040
Now, here's the thing.

01:11:18.040 --> 01:11:19.040
The Bible is bringing up the context.

01:11:19.040 --> 01:11:21.040
We read this earlier.

01:11:21.040 --> 01:11:23.040
I just didn't explain it that much.

01:11:23.040 --> 01:11:28.040
But, you know, we have the ties from a foreign area.

01:11:28.040 --> 01:11:30.040
They may not be able to bring them physically.

01:11:30.040 --> 01:11:32.040
It's like they have all these sheep or cattle.

01:11:32.040 --> 01:11:33.040
It's a long journey.

01:11:33.040 --> 01:11:35.040
They may not make it, robbers, whatever.

01:11:35.040 --> 01:11:37.040
So they turn it into money.

01:11:37.040 --> 01:11:39.040
They travel to Jerusalem.

01:11:39.040 --> 01:11:42.040
And then they convert it back into the merchandise,

01:11:42.040 --> 01:11:45.040
whether that be what it said, whatever they want,

01:11:45.040 --> 01:11:46.040
one including strong drink.

01:11:46.040 --> 01:11:49.040
Why would somebody turn it into strong drink?

01:11:49.040 --> 01:11:52.040
Well, maybe, again, if it's a medicinal thing,

01:11:52.040 --> 01:11:55.040
maybe they just wanted to have some for medicinal reason

01:11:55.040 --> 01:11:57.040
or simply just for the poor offering

01:11:57.040 --> 01:12:00.040
because they want to observe the poor offering.

01:12:00.040 --> 01:12:02.040
But again, is this saying like, hey, let's get drunk.

01:12:02.040 --> 01:12:04.040
Let's, you know, have some kind of a party?

01:12:04.040 --> 01:12:05.040
Absolutely not.

01:12:05.040 --> 01:12:08.040
That would not be what this is saying whatsoever.

01:12:08.040 --> 01:12:11.040
Obviously, lots of people like to have medicine on hand

01:12:11.040 --> 01:12:14.040
or use it occasionally for relief or whatever.

01:12:14.040 --> 01:12:16.040
I mean, you just travel across the country.

01:12:16.040 --> 01:12:18.040
You don't think anybody would possibly want

01:12:18.040 --> 01:12:20.040
some kind of a medicine potentially.

01:12:20.040 --> 01:12:22.040
Now, I'm going to prove this.

01:12:22.040 --> 01:12:24.040
Go to, if you want to 1 Timothy chapter number five,

01:12:24.040 --> 01:12:26.040
go to 1 Timothy chapter number five.

01:12:26.040 --> 01:12:29.040
Obviously, you can also understand, too,

01:12:29.040 --> 01:12:33.040
that even if someone had, quote, strong drink,

01:12:33.040 --> 01:12:36.040
they may not be taking shots directly from it.

01:12:36.040 --> 01:12:39.040
In the ancient world, sometimes they would take the stuff

01:12:39.040 --> 01:12:40.040
and they would mix it.

01:12:40.040 --> 01:12:43.040
They would water it down for the medicinal purpose.

01:12:43.040 --> 01:12:46.040
For the medicinal purpose or for the medicinal aspect.

01:12:46.040 --> 01:12:50.040
1 Timothy chapter five, look at verse 23.

01:12:50.040 --> 01:12:52.040
This is the instructions from Paul to Timothy.

01:12:52.040 --> 01:12:58.040
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake

01:12:58.040 --> 01:13:00.040
and thine often notice this infirmities.

01:13:00.040 --> 01:13:05.040
So the Bible brings up that wine is used in a medicinal way

01:13:05.040 --> 01:13:06.040
in the New Testament.

01:13:06.040 --> 01:13:09.040
Now, again, this may not even been an intoxicating beverage.

01:13:09.040 --> 01:13:12.040
I'm not saying that necessarily this one is for sure,

01:13:12.040 --> 01:13:15.040
but we just see that this has some medicinal use.

01:13:15.040 --> 01:13:17.040
And of course, people understand sometimes juice can help you

01:13:17.040 --> 01:13:20.040
with stomach issues, stomach problems.

01:13:20.040 --> 01:13:25.040
And again, obviously, you could have a potential need for a painkiller

01:13:25.040 --> 01:13:28.040
here and there or based on certain situations.

01:13:28.040 --> 01:13:31.040
And sometimes people could be potentially using these.

01:13:31.040 --> 01:13:34.040
Obviously, in today's world, I'm not mad when people use a painkiller.

01:13:34.040 --> 01:13:36.040
But if they're using it recreationally,

01:13:36.040 --> 01:13:40.040
if they're going to the store and buying them and grinding them down

01:13:40.040 --> 01:13:43.040
and making a meth lab, obviously, that's wicked as hell.

01:13:43.040 --> 01:13:46.040
So we have to understand there's a clear difference between

01:13:46.040 --> 01:13:51.040
a godly Christian occasionally using something for medicinal purpose.

01:13:51.040 --> 01:13:52.040
Let's just be honest.

01:13:52.040 --> 01:13:56.040
Who's ever had Nyquil?

01:13:56.040 --> 01:13:59.040
I mean, I'm not trying to get people in trouble here.

01:13:59.040 --> 01:14:04.040
Now, don't do this scary thing, but go home, look at the Nyquil bottle,

01:14:04.040 --> 01:14:09.040
and you'll notice something that there's a little bit of alcohol in Nyquil.

01:14:09.040 --> 01:14:11.040
Okay, and I'm not trying to scare you.

01:14:11.040 --> 01:14:13.040
I'm just trying to be honest with you.

01:14:13.040 --> 01:14:14.040
But here's the thing.

01:14:14.040 --> 01:14:19.040
You know how much Nyquil you would have to drink in order to get drunk?

01:14:19.040 --> 01:14:24.040
I mean, it would be insane to think that someone's going to get drunk from Nyquil.

01:14:24.040 --> 01:14:29.040
But at the end of the day, obviously, it's being put in there for a specific purpose.

01:14:29.040 --> 01:14:31.040
What? So you get knocked out and go to sleep.

01:14:31.040 --> 01:14:33.040
You know what I mean?

01:14:33.040 --> 01:14:36.040
And look, am I saying, oh, if you use Nyquil, you're wicked or something,

01:14:36.040 --> 01:14:38.040
or you're a bad person, or you're not godly.

01:14:38.040 --> 01:14:41.040
This is where the holier-than-thou's come into play, and I'm telling you what.

01:14:41.040 --> 01:14:43.040
You'll preach a good sermon against alcohol,

01:14:43.040 --> 01:14:46.040
and then they'll be like, people that use Nyquil are wicked as hell.

01:14:46.040 --> 01:14:51.040
It's this idea you preach against people being naked,

01:14:51.040 --> 01:14:54.040
and they're like, man, if men are showing their elbows, that's wicked.

01:14:54.040 --> 01:14:56.040
You need to wear a coat.

01:14:56.040 --> 01:14:59.040
This is like over-the-top kind of type stuff.

01:14:59.040 --> 01:15:05.040
But it's a big stretch to go from, hey, every once in a while someone uses Nyquil,

01:15:06.040 --> 01:15:11.040
to, hey, now I'm going to start having Jack Daniels mixed in with Coke

01:15:11.040 --> 01:15:13.040
and drinking it every night.

01:15:13.040 --> 01:15:15.040
You know, that's a big jump, okay?

01:15:15.040 --> 01:15:18.040
And only a fool would try to make that comparison

01:15:18.040 --> 01:15:22.040
or try to take some of these verses and twist them into, now let's drink Jack Daniels.

01:15:22.040 --> 01:15:25.040
Let's go to some more verses. Go back to Proverbs, chapter 20.

01:15:25.040 --> 01:15:27.040
Go to Proverbs, chapter number 20.

01:15:27.040 --> 01:15:29.040
I'm just trying to be reasonable with the text here.

01:15:29.040 --> 01:15:32.040
And if you disagree with me, if you don't like what I'm saying, that's fine.

01:15:32.040 --> 01:15:34.040
You can believe whatever you want.

01:15:34.040 --> 01:15:42.040
I'm trying to show a clear example of how I believe the Bible could be giving us an interpretation here

01:15:42.040 --> 01:15:46.040
that strong drink could have a legitimate use of what?

01:15:46.040 --> 01:15:50.040
A medicinal purpose in certain contexts, in certain situations,

01:15:50.040 --> 01:15:53.040
not to be abused, not to be taken advantage of.

01:15:53.040 --> 01:15:54.040
That would be wicked.

01:15:54.040 --> 01:15:56.040
The Bible says in Proverbs 20, look at verse 1,

01:15:56.040 --> 01:16:02.040
wine is a mockery, strong drink is raging, and whose service deceived thereby is not wise.

01:16:02.040 --> 01:16:09.040
Obviously anybody that's deceived by alcohol and using alcohol recreationally or for fun is deceived.

01:16:09.040 --> 01:16:14.040
And the Bible says that you're going to be mocked and doing silly things.

01:16:14.040 --> 01:16:17.040
Proverbs 23 makes it even worse.

01:16:17.040 --> 01:16:20.040
It says in verse 29, who hath woe, who hath sorrow, who hath contention,

01:16:20.040 --> 01:16:23.040
who hath babbling, who hath wounds without cause, who hath redness of eyes?

01:16:23.040 --> 01:16:26.040
They that tarry long at the wine, they that go to seek mixed wine.

01:16:26.040 --> 01:16:31.040
This person's just drinking obsessively to what? Get drunk.

01:16:31.040 --> 01:16:36.040
And that's what most people do when they drink beer or liquor, is they're just trying to get drunk.

01:16:36.040 --> 01:16:41.040
He says, look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth its color in the cup,

01:16:41.040 --> 01:16:42.040
when it moveth itself aright.

01:16:42.040 --> 01:16:45.040
So this is talking about a fermentation process.

01:16:45.040 --> 01:16:52.040
So obviously there's nothing wrong with drinking as much as you want a fruit beverage.

01:16:52.040 --> 01:16:55.040
You can drink as much grape juice as you want.

01:16:55.040 --> 01:16:58.040
You can drink as much of a fruit beverage as you want.

01:16:58.040 --> 01:17:03.040
But what it is saying is that when it's fermented, wow, you should not be looking at this.

01:17:03.040 --> 01:17:10.040
You shouldn't be trying to take advantage of this, drinking it for the purposes of drunkenness.

01:17:10.040 --> 01:17:15.040
Why? He says, at the last it biteth like a serpent and stingeth like an adder.

01:17:15.040 --> 01:17:19.040
Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.

01:17:19.040 --> 01:17:22.040
Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea,

01:17:22.040 --> 01:17:24.040
or as he that lieth upon the top of a mass.

01:17:24.040 --> 01:17:28.040
They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick.

01:17:28.040 --> 01:17:31.040
They have beaten me, and I felt it not.

01:17:31.040 --> 01:17:35.040
When shall I awake? I will yet, or I will seek it yet again.

01:17:35.040 --> 01:17:38.040
Again, what is the context here?

01:17:38.040 --> 01:17:45.040
The context is someone that's drinking alcohol and they're becoming drunk and they're doing bad things.

01:17:45.040 --> 01:17:50.040
They're getting injured, probably either just doing stupid things, maybe getting into fights.

01:17:50.040 --> 01:17:54.040
Of course, you go to the bar, people get in bar fights all the time.

01:17:54.040 --> 01:17:57.040
They're getting wounds without cause, what the Bible says.

01:17:57.040 --> 01:18:00.040
They shouldn't have even been injured and they get injured.

01:18:00.040 --> 01:18:04.040
Or they're self-harming because they just don't have all their faculties.

01:18:04.040 --> 01:18:07.040
Drunk driving is a huge problem in America.

01:18:07.040 --> 01:18:10.040
People are harming themselves without necessarily trying to do that,

01:18:10.040 --> 01:18:12.040
or they shouldn't have had to have done that.

01:18:12.040 --> 01:18:16.040
But you could take a secondary understanding from verse 35.

01:18:16.040 --> 01:18:21.040
Notice it says they have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick.

01:18:21.040 --> 01:18:23.040
They have beaten me, and I felt it not.

01:18:23.040 --> 01:18:26.040
Notice that there's a deadening effect to alcohol.

01:18:26.040 --> 01:18:28.040
We can't sit here and lie.

01:18:28.040 --> 01:18:33.040
If you drink enough alcohol, you don't feel as much physical pain.

01:18:33.040 --> 01:18:36.040
That is one of the aspects of drinking alcohol.

01:18:36.040 --> 01:18:40.040
So obviously, if we put this in a different context,

01:18:40.040 --> 01:18:45.040
couldn't we then make the argument that the Bible is teaching that alcohol actually is a pain reliever?

01:18:45.040 --> 01:18:47.040
Now, is this a legitimate use?

01:18:47.040 --> 01:18:51.040
Is this guy sick and using it for a medicinal purpose?

01:18:51.040 --> 01:18:55.040
No. He's just going out there and doing this because he wants to feel this feeling,

01:18:55.040 --> 01:19:00.040
or this buzz, or to say perverted things, or to look on strange women, or whatever.

01:19:00.040 --> 01:19:04.040
And again, he's having woe and sorrow and whatever.

01:19:04.040 --> 01:19:07.040
Also, he's like just sleeping, you know, long periods of time.

01:19:07.040 --> 01:19:13.040
So yeah, it could make sense that someone gets injured in the military in times past,

01:19:13.040 --> 01:19:18.040
and before they saw your leg off, they're like, hey, let's give them a little bit of booze, you know?

01:19:18.040 --> 01:19:21.040
Or bite on this stick, or something.

01:19:21.040 --> 01:19:27.040
I mean, you know, it's like if I was in the 1800s, you know, if I'm in the Civil War,

01:19:27.040 --> 01:19:32.040
and I just got a bullet through my leg, and then it started turning green,

01:19:32.040 --> 01:19:37.040
and it's gangrene all over my leg, and it's decomposing and rotting and about to die,

01:19:37.040 --> 01:19:40.040
and they pull out a saw, and they're like, do you want to bite on the stick,

01:19:40.040 --> 01:19:44.040
or would you like to just drink this alcohol real quick before we saw it off?

01:19:44.040 --> 01:19:47.040
I'd be like, pass me the booze.

01:19:47.040 --> 01:19:51.040
Give me the NyQuil, you know what I mean?

01:19:51.040 --> 01:19:55.040
I wouldn't want to just sit here and grin and bear it, okay?

01:19:55.040 --> 01:20:00.040
But at the end of the day, does that mean that now, hey, I'm just having dinner with my family,

01:20:00.040 --> 01:20:04.040
I'm going to mix some Jack and Coke, I'm going to go to the liquor store,

01:20:04.040 --> 01:20:08.040
and I'm going to have some kind of, you know, alcoholic beverage?

01:20:08.040 --> 01:20:12.040
No. And of course, you go to a hospital today, we have even better medicines today,

01:20:12.040 --> 01:20:17.040
we have better pain relievers, better painkillers, things like morphine and all kinds of stuff.

01:20:17.040 --> 01:20:20.040
But, hey, you should be careful with that stuff still.

01:20:20.040 --> 01:20:26.040
People can get addicted to morphine, to painkillers, and they go out and harm themselves.

01:20:26.040 --> 01:20:31.040
Obviously, there's certain drugs that can make it to where you feel literally no pain whatsoever.

01:20:31.040 --> 01:20:35.040
And you have to be careful with that stuff. It should not be used lightly.

01:20:36.040 --> 01:20:40.040
It should be taken very seriously. But when you're on drugs, you know what they say?

01:20:40.040 --> 01:20:45.040
If you're at the hospital, they say, don't drive, don't go home, don't operate heavy machinery,

01:20:45.040 --> 01:20:49.040
don't do these kind of things because it's dangerous.

01:20:49.040 --> 01:20:55.040
Yet people will drink and do all this kind of stuff and harm others in the process.

01:20:55.040 --> 01:21:00.040
This is not a recommendation. Look at Proverbs 31. Let's get some more verses on this.

01:21:00.040 --> 01:21:03.040
Proverbs 31, look at verse 4.

01:21:03.040 --> 01:21:09.040
It is not for kings, O'Lemuel. It is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes strong drink.

01:21:09.040 --> 01:21:13.040
So the general prohibition is, don't drink alcohol ever.

01:21:13.040 --> 01:21:17.040
Be someone that just abstains from alcohol and just don't drink it.

01:21:17.040 --> 01:21:21.040
He says, lest they drink and forget the law and pervert the judgment of any afflicted.

01:21:21.040 --> 01:21:24.040
Here's another consequence, you lose your mind.

01:21:24.040 --> 01:21:29.040
Well, why do you want to do that? He says, give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish.

01:21:29.040 --> 01:21:35.040
Yeah, the guy that's about to die, that's on the operating table, give it to him.

01:21:35.040 --> 01:21:40.040
Let's reserve medicine for that situation.

01:21:40.040 --> 01:21:47.040
Don't take the medicine from the guy that's about to die and just excessively drink yourself into oblivion for no reason.

01:21:47.040 --> 01:21:51.040
He's saying, give it to the guy that's ready to perish. That's the guy.

01:21:51.040 --> 01:21:54.040
But you're not that guy. You're not about to die.

01:21:54.040 --> 01:21:57.040
He says, give it wine unto those that have heavy hearts.

01:21:57.040 --> 01:22:00.040
Why do some people drink? Well, obviously the medicinal purpose.

01:22:00.040 --> 01:22:03.040
Why do people abuse it? Because they feel sad.

01:22:03.040 --> 01:22:10.040
And instead of going to a good source to console them, they go to a bad source, which would be alcohol.

01:22:10.040 --> 01:22:15.040
Why is it that so many country music songs are so sad?

01:22:15.040 --> 01:22:18.040
Because they're sung at the bar.

01:22:18.040 --> 01:22:21.040
They're not singing. The person that's happy doesn't need to drink.

01:22:21.040 --> 01:22:29.040
The guy that, you know, my dog died and my wife left and my truck, you know, finally gave out and my crops didn't come in.

01:22:29.040 --> 01:22:36.040
And, you know, that there's a tear in my beer and, you know, I'm just I'm just going to go do that honky tonk.

01:22:36.040 --> 01:22:39.040
And it's like, why are they doing that?

01:22:39.040 --> 01:22:43.040
What are the songs about? Sleeping around and being sad.

01:22:43.040 --> 01:22:46.040
And then it's like you read the Bible. Why do people drink?

01:22:46.040 --> 01:22:50.040
Because they want to see strange women and because they have a heavy heart.

01:22:50.040 --> 01:22:54.040
It's like it's almost like the Bible knew what it was talking about. Huh?

01:22:54.040 --> 01:22:59.040
So, hey, just avoid fornication by what? Never drinking.

01:22:59.040 --> 01:23:02.040
And then number two, if you're sad, seek an alternative.

01:23:02.040 --> 01:23:07.040
You know, seek church, seek the blessings that God's given you.

01:23:07.040 --> 01:23:10.040
You know, seek chocolate. All right.

01:23:10.040 --> 01:23:14.040
Turn to chocolate. Turn to brisket. Have a steak.

01:23:14.040 --> 01:23:19.040
You know, if you're just like really, really sad, just go buy a fifty dollar steak.

01:23:19.040 --> 01:23:24.040
Don't buy a fifty dollar back bottle of Jack Daniels. Right.

01:23:24.040 --> 01:23:28.040
You know, and after the fifty dollar steak, tell me how you feel. OK.

01:23:28.040 --> 01:23:35.040
You know, maybe maybe if all the drunkards would spend their money on things that are fine, they wouldn't be so miserable.

01:23:35.040 --> 01:23:40.040
You know, spending money on drugs and alcohol ruins your life and just ruins everything that you have.

01:23:40.040 --> 01:23:46.040
You know, people wonder like, how do you eat good meals? Well, I'm not paying alimony.

01:23:46.040 --> 01:23:50.040
I'm not paying child support. I saw someone post some picture. I don't know if it's real or not.

01:23:50.040 --> 01:23:53.040
You know, nothing. You can't know if anything's real anymore.

01:23:53.040 --> 01:23:59.040
But it's a picture of someone's pay stub. And it was like they got like twenty three hundred bucks for their pay period or whatever.

01:23:59.040 --> 01:24:05.040
And then it was just like taxes. And then it was just like alimony, child support, child support, child support.

01:24:05.040 --> 01:24:08.040
It was like he got like two hundred dollars left over or something.

01:24:08.040 --> 01:24:13.040
And I was like, I could see where that guy is going to the bar and drinking himself to oblivion.

01:24:13.040 --> 01:24:17.040
He just worked for two weeks and he got nothing.

01:24:17.040 --> 01:24:23.040
And I mean, I can't even imagine paying for my wife to go shack up with another man.

01:24:23.040 --> 01:24:36.040
I mean, how wicked is our society in our country and our culture today that we have these divorce laws that allow women to leave their husband for another man and getting paid while doing it.

01:24:36.040 --> 01:24:43.040
It's almost like someone is just evil as Satan himself, because I can't even imagine a worse evil.

01:24:43.040 --> 01:24:49.040
And yet you wonder why so many men killing themselves. Well, I can't even imagine continuing down that track.

01:24:49.040 --> 01:24:53.040
Why keep going to work for that? Isaiah, chapter five.

01:24:53.040 --> 01:24:59.040
And if you're going to be biblical, you're not supposed to get remarried.

01:25:00.040 --> 01:25:03.040
Most of the women have ruined themselves and hoard themselves out.

01:25:03.040 --> 01:25:09.040
Who wants to work 40 hours a week for a whore?

01:25:09.040 --> 01:25:11.040
I get it. It's rough.

01:25:11.040 --> 01:25:15.040
Isaiah, chapter five, look at verse 11.

01:25:15.040 --> 01:25:23.040
Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning that they may follow strong drink and that continue until night till wine inflame them.

01:25:23.040 --> 01:25:28.040
Is this guy just taking some medicine or is this guy just getting drunk because he wants to get drunk?

01:25:28.040 --> 01:25:30.040
Obviously, this is wicked as hell.

01:25:30.040 --> 01:25:32.040
Look at verse 22.

01:25:32.040 --> 01:25:37.040
Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine and men of strength to mingle strong drink.

01:25:37.040 --> 01:25:41.040
So this guy is not just drinking Nyquil once a year.

01:25:41.040 --> 01:25:44.040
This guy does it regularly. He's built up a tolerance.

01:25:44.040 --> 01:25:50.040
That's another thing that can happen with any medicine that if you consume it too much or too often,

01:25:50.040 --> 01:25:54.040
your body can actually build a tolerance towards it to where you don't feel the same effects.

01:25:54.040 --> 01:25:56.040
And that's a big problem with alcohol.

01:25:56.040 --> 01:25:59.040
You drink a couple of alcoholic beverages and you've never had it before.

01:25:59.040 --> 01:26:02.040
You can have very strong effects for it.

01:26:02.040 --> 01:26:08.040
But if you do it often enough, it gets to a point where now, you know, two beers doesn't do the same thing for you anymore.

01:26:08.040 --> 01:26:10.040
So you have to have three and then three doesn't.

01:26:10.040 --> 01:26:12.040
So then you have to have five and then five doesn't.

01:26:12.040 --> 01:26:14.040
Now you have to have ten and ten doesn't.

01:26:14.040 --> 01:26:16.040
So they have to have a 24 pack.

01:26:16.040 --> 01:26:19.040
And look, I went to college. I was around worldly people.

01:26:19.040 --> 01:26:20.040
I wasn't always the best Christian.

01:26:20.040 --> 01:26:28.040
And let me tell you, I saw people go down this road to the point where they had to drink 20, 24 beers in a day's time.

01:26:28.040 --> 01:26:32.040
You want to get fat? Drink 24 beers.

01:26:32.040 --> 01:26:35.040
Because it's like each one's like 200 calories.

01:26:35.040 --> 01:26:37.040
I mean, think about it. You drink 20 beers in one day.

01:26:37.040 --> 01:26:42.040
That's 4000 calories from just drinking.

01:26:42.040 --> 01:26:46.040
Yeah, you'll get that beer belly real fast.

01:26:46.040 --> 01:26:54.040
I mean, why is there so many guys that they're rail thin and then they have like a 50 pound keg attached to their stomach?

01:26:54.040 --> 01:26:55.040
You know why?

01:26:55.040 --> 01:26:58.040
It's because they're drinking like 10, 11, 12 beers.

01:26:58.040 --> 01:27:04.040
And, you know, they'll do that at the Cowboys or they'll do that at a sporting event where the beers are like $10 each.

01:27:04.040 --> 01:27:07.040
I mean, that might be like before covid prices. I don't even know now.

01:27:07.040 --> 01:27:09.040
Maybe it's $15. Who knows?

01:27:10.040 --> 01:27:16.040
I mean, just some crazy amount of money and it's just harming themselves, hurting themselves.

01:27:16.040 --> 01:27:18.040
Did the Cowboys suck that bad?

01:27:18.040 --> 01:27:21.040
You have to drown your sorrows in beer.

01:27:21.040 --> 01:27:23.040
Like it sounds like a self-inflicted wound.

01:27:23.040 --> 01:27:29.040
Shouldn't you go to a game where you're not just so sad that you have to drink yourself into oblivion to enjoy it?

01:27:29.040 --> 01:27:36.040
I mean, if it's so great going there, why do you have to forget that you're even there and what your name is to enjoy it?

01:27:36.040 --> 01:27:38.040
It's like drinking so much fun.

01:27:38.040 --> 01:27:42.040
If you're having so much fun, why do you have to forget that you're even having the fun in the first place?

01:27:42.040 --> 01:27:45.040
And then they wake up and like, I don't know why I got here.

01:27:45.040 --> 01:27:47.040
How is that fun?

01:27:47.040 --> 01:27:49.040
How is that enjoyable?

01:27:49.040 --> 01:27:51.040
You know, you would think that if it was enjoyable, you'd want to remember it.

01:27:51.040 --> 01:27:57.040
You know, I guarantee men on their honeymoon, they're not like, I hope I don't even remember what happens.

01:27:57.040 --> 01:27:58.040
I hope I forget about it.

01:27:58.040 --> 01:28:03.040
I hope I can press a button and just go fast forward to tomorrow and forget that the honeymoon even happened.

01:28:04.040 --> 01:28:06.040
No, things that you enjoy, you're like, can I do it again?

01:28:06.040 --> 01:28:08.040
It's like, hey, you go to the nice steak dinner.

01:28:08.040 --> 01:28:14.040
You're not like, I wish I could just press a button and it's tomorrow and I don't get to eat the I don't get to remember the meal.

01:28:14.040 --> 01:28:19.040
No, things that are fun and enjoyable, you want to actually be paying attention to things that are not fun.

01:28:19.040 --> 01:28:29.040
You're like, can I just press the fast forward button and I just immediately, you know, the DMV, how do I, you know, press the fast forward button to just get this over with going to the doctor's office?

01:28:30.040 --> 01:28:35.040
You know, there's surgery, the dentist, there's plenty of times that you want to just press that button.

01:28:35.040 --> 01:28:39.040
OK, but if you're having so much fun, why do you want to press that button?

01:28:42.040 --> 01:28:43.040
There's a lot more here.

01:28:43.040 --> 01:28:44.040
Go to Isaiah 24.

01:28:44.040 --> 01:28:46.040
Don't get drunk.

01:28:46.040 --> 01:28:48.040
Don't drink alcohol.

01:28:48.040 --> 01:28:53.040
I'm not trying to give an excuse for alcohol, but I do want to be honest with the text.

01:28:53.040 --> 01:28:59.040
I do think you could argue and I think the Bible teaches there's probably a medicinal reason why it's being brought up.

01:28:59.040 --> 01:29:01.040
That's what the whole context of the passage is.

01:29:01.040 --> 01:29:06.040
Why would he be saying, hey, it was a miracle that you didn't have this, but you got through the wilderness?

01:29:06.040 --> 01:29:10.040
Well, obviously, if they were never going to drink it for any reason, that wouldn't make sense.

01:29:10.040 --> 01:29:20.040
The reason why they were going to use it potentially is probably for a medicinal purpose, considering all of the verses in the Bible, because in general, you're not supposed to be doing this on a recreational basis.

01:29:20.040 --> 01:29:23.040
That wasn't going to help them in the wilderness being drunk.

01:29:23.040 --> 01:29:26.040
What could help them is a little bit occasionally for medicinal purposes.

01:29:26.040 --> 01:29:30.040
But they again, it wasn't that that happened.

01:29:30.040 --> 01:29:31.040
It was a hypothetical.

01:29:31.040 --> 01:29:35.040
The hypothetical was that if you didn't have God, you would need it.

01:29:35.040 --> 01:29:37.040
They still didn't need it.

01:29:37.040 --> 01:29:38.040
Meaning what?

01:29:38.040 --> 01:29:42.040
As a God fearing Christian, you don't need alcohol.

01:29:42.040 --> 01:29:47.040
You know, I haven't had a touch of alcohol for a long time in my life and I don't need it.

01:29:47.040 --> 01:29:50.040
And I never plan on ever touching it ever again.

01:29:50.040 --> 01:29:53.040
But hey, you know, have I had Nyquil?

01:29:53.040 --> 01:29:56.040
OK, yes, technically, yes.

01:29:56.040 --> 01:29:57.040
Have I?

01:29:57.040 --> 01:30:00.040
Will I possibly use a painkiller if I went to the doctor's office?

01:30:00.040 --> 01:30:01.040
Yeah, I might.

01:30:01.040 --> 01:30:02.040
I might use a Tylenol.

01:30:02.040 --> 01:30:07.040
I know it's scary or whatever nowadays, you know, or acetaminophen or ibuprofen or whatever.

01:30:07.040 --> 01:30:08.040
They're always like it's bad.

01:30:08.040 --> 01:30:09.040
They're all bad.

01:30:09.040 --> 01:30:10.040
OK.

01:30:10.040 --> 01:30:13.040
But in the end, you know, the worst is breaking God's commandments.

01:30:14.040 --> 01:30:18.040
I'd rather take a Tylenol every day than sin, you know, egregiously every single day.

01:30:18.040 --> 01:30:24.040
You know, and at the end of the day, we're not reading this in context of let's do drugs and alcohol.

01:30:24.040 --> 01:30:26.040
We're just trying to put it in its place.

01:30:26.040 --> 01:30:28.040
OK, Isaiah chapter 24 verse 9.

01:30:33.040 --> 01:30:36.040
They shall not drink wine with a song.

01:30:36.040 --> 01:30:37.040
I'm sorry, they shall.

01:30:37.040 --> 01:30:39.040
Yeah, they shall not drink wine with a song.

01:30:39.040 --> 01:30:42.040
Strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.

01:30:42.040 --> 01:30:47.040
Again, this is just a curse on the wicked people here.

01:30:47.040 --> 01:30:49.040
Go to chapter 28 and look at verse 7.

01:30:49.040 --> 01:30:52.040
I'm just trying to bring up all the verses in this particular one.

01:30:52.040 --> 01:30:54.040
It says in verse number 7,

01:31:12.040 --> 01:31:14.040
Oh, it's really good for pastors to drink alcohol.

01:31:14.040 --> 01:31:16.040
False.

01:31:16.040 --> 01:31:18.040
Of course, we believe in the priesthood of the believer.

01:31:18.040 --> 01:31:19.040
Hey, you're a priest.

01:31:19.040 --> 01:31:20.040
You're a king.

01:31:20.040 --> 01:31:22.040
Don't drink the word of don't drink alcohol.

01:31:22.040 --> 01:31:24.040
OK, just avoid it.

01:31:24.040 --> 01:31:26.040
Chapter 29 verse 9.

01:31:26.040 --> 01:31:30.040
Stay yourselves and wonder cry out and cry.

01:31:30.040 --> 01:31:32.040
They are drunken, but not with wine.

01:31:32.040 --> 01:31:34.040
They stagger, but not with strong drinks.

01:31:34.040 --> 01:31:36.040
Talking about spiritual drunkenness.

01:31:36.040 --> 01:31:40.040
But notice that drinking alcohol, strong drink causes you to stumble and be drunk.

01:31:40.040 --> 01:31:41.040
One more place.

01:31:41.040 --> 01:31:46.040
Go to chapter 56 verse 12 and we'll go back to our chapter here.

01:31:46.040 --> 01:31:48.040
Finish quickly.

01:31:48.040 --> 01:31:50.040
Isaiah 56 verse 12.

01:31:50.040 --> 01:31:51.040
The Bible says,

01:31:51.040 --> 01:31:52.040
The Bible says,

01:32:00.040 --> 01:32:03.040
So that sounds positive.

01:32:03.040 --> 01:32:05.040
See, this is what a drunk will do.

01:32:05.040 --> 01:32:11.040
Let's go to this verse and they'll be like, Hey, let's just drink some strong, some strong drink.

01:32:11.040 --> 01:32:12.040
Right.

01:32:12.040 --> 01:32:14.040
But OK, let's back up a few verses.

01:32:14.040 --> 01:32:15.040
Verse 10.

01:32:21.040 --> 01:32:40.040
So what is he saying?

01:32:40.040 --> 01:32:42.040
Oh, we're going to be blessed and rich.

01:32:42.040 --> 01:32:44.040
We're going to drink alcohol.

01:32:44.040 --> 01:32:45.040
But who's saying this?

01:32:45.040 --> 01:32:47.040
Lying, false prophets and teachers.

01:32:47.040 --> 01:32:48.040
That's the whole context.

01:32:48.040 --> 01:32:49.040
OK.

01:32:49.040 --> 01:32:55.040
So again, someone teaching you to drink alcohol and wine is wicked as hell.

01:32:55.040 --> 01:32:57.040
I'm going to go back and we're going to finish Deuteronomy 29.

01:32:57.040 --> 01:32:59.040
We'll do it quickly.

01:32:59.040 --> 01:33:03.040
I just think it's important to put this passage in perspective.

01:33:03.040 --> 01:33:09.040
So we're not saying, Hey, strong drinks are great idea.

01:33:09.040 --> 01:33:15.040
Not against medicine, but it has its place and it should be used with caution.

01:33:15.040 --> 01:33:16.040
Are we saying we should ever drink alcohol?

01:33:16.040 --> 01:33:17.040
I'm not going to drink alcohol.

01:33:17.040 --> 01:33:18.040
I don't want to touch this stuff.

01:33:18.040 --> 01:33:20.040
I'm a total, you know, teetotaler.

01:33:20.040 --> 01:33:25.040
And if people are drinking alcohol excessively or regularly, they will be church discipline for being a drunkard.

01:33:25.040 --> 01:33:28.040
That's what the Bible says in first Corinthians chapter number five.

01:33:28.040 --> 01:33:31.040
Almost every other church in this world won't do it, but I will do it.

01:33:31.040 --> 01:33:33.040
And we have done it and we'll continue to do it.

01:33:33.040 --> 01:33:38.040
Now it says in verse number seven, I think.

01:33:38.040 --> 01:33:39.040
How far are we?

01:33:39.040 --> 01:33:40.040
We didn't really make far, did we?

01:33:40.040 --> 01:33:46.040
It says in verse seven, And when you come unto this place, Sion, the king of Heshbon and Og, the king of Bashan,

01:33:46.040 --> 01:33:51.040
came out against us unto battle and we smote them and we took their land and gave it for an inheritance

01:33:51.040 --> 01:33:54.040
on the Rubanites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh.

01:33:54.040 --> 01:33:59.040
Therefore, or keep therefore the words of this covenant and do them that you may prosper in all that you do.

01:33:59.040 --> 01:34:02.040
So they're closed in wax old.

01:34:02.040 --> 01:34:05.040
They didn't need what you would normally need to survive the wilderness, yet they did.

01:34:05.040 --> 01:34:09.040
And they smote these great kings and inherited their land.

01:34:09.040 --> 01:34:11.040
So he's just saying, Remember all the miracles I did for you.

01:34:11.040 --> 01:34:14.040
Remember I blessed you and got you through this.

01:34:14.040 --> 01:34:19.040
And if you keep the words of this covenant, I'll continue to prosper you as you enter into the promised land.

01:34:19.040 --> 01:34:21.040
He says in verse number 10,

01:34:44.040 --> 01:34:54.040
So he's making this covenant with everyone.

01:34:54.040 --> 01:34:56.040
Notice the covenant was with everyone.

01:34:56.040 --> 01:35:10.040
Verse 14,

01:35:10.040 --> 01:35:13.040
I think a lot of people don't even realize that verse is in the Bible.

01:35:13.040 --> 01:35:17.040
Did you notice that he said, I made this covenant not only with all of you and all the people that are here,

01:35:17.040 --> 01:35:19.040
but with who else?

01:35:19.040 --> 01:35:24.040
Oh yeah, everyone else, because every single person is bound by the law of God period.

01:35:24.040 --> 01:35:30.040
How can John the Baptist get up and rebuke Herod for having his brother, Phillip's wife,

01:35:30.040 --> 01:35:34.040
if he himself is not bound by the law of God?

01:35:34.040 --> 01:35:35.040
Everyone is bound by the law of God.

01:35:35.040 --> 01:35:39.040
When people die and go to go stand before God at the judgment seat,

01:35:39.040 --> 01:35:41.040
they're going to be judged out of the book of what?

01:35:41.040 --> 01:35:42.040
The law.

01:35:42.040 --> 01:35:47.040
They're going to still be judged for lying and stealing and God is going to use the law to judge them.

01:35:47.040 --> 01:35:53.040
I get that some aspects of the Old Testament are about the children of Israel specifically as a nation.

01:35:53.040 --> 01:35:58.040
But in general, the moral aspects of the law, every man will stand in an account and a judgment towards God,

01:35:58.040 --> 01:36:00.040
because the Bible says the law is written on our hearts.

01:36:00.040 --> 01:36:05.040
Whether you're Jew or Gentile, they were all bound to keep the law of God.

01:36:05.040 --> 01:36:09.040
We could go to a lot more verses to prove that.

01:36:09.040 --> 01:36:13.040
But Galatians chapter 3 said that Christ had became a curse for us,

01:36:13.040 --> 01:36:16.040
so that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles.

01:36:16.040 --> 01:36:23.040
Why would Christ have to become a curse for the Gentiles if they weren't bound by the law of God?

01:36:23.040 --> 01:36:29.040
The Gentiles were also expected to keep the law of God period, regardless of having received it or not,

01:36:29.040 --> 01:36:34.040
because the law of God is written on our hearts and we are all obligated to keep God's commandments period.

01:36:34.040 --> 01:36:41.040
And as a result, Gentiles that did not believe in Jesus Christ, no matter what era, went to hell.

01:36:41.040 --> 01:36:43.040
Jews that didn't believe in Jesus Christ went to hell.

01:36:43.040 --> 01:36:48.040
Whether you're under the law or not under the law, you were still bound by the law written on our hearts

01:36:48.040 --> 01:36:50.040
and you're supposed to keep God's commandments period.

01:36:50.040 --> 01:36:56.040
And because for all sin it comes short of the glory of God, the only justification is through faith in Jesus Christ.

01:36:56.040 --> 01:36:59.040
Of course, if you were a Gentile back then, what should you have done?

01:36:59.040 --> 01:37:02.040
Leave in Jesus and then join the nation of Israel as a stranger.

01:37:02.040 --> 01:37:07.040
You would have sojourned among whatever tribe you preferred and then you would have joined that tribe eventually

01:37:07.040 --> 01:37:10.040
and been part of that tribe. You would have gotten inheritance with that particular tribe.

01:37:10.040 --> 01:37:13.040
There was a mixed multitude that came out of Egypt with the children of Israel.

01:37:13.040 --> 01:37:16.040
They were going to get to be mixed in and be a part of that.

01:37:16.040 --> 01:37:18.040
You have Simon the Canaanite at the time of Christ.

01:37:18.040 --> 01:37:21.040
It wasn't limited to a physical nation of ethnic Jews.

01:37:21.040 --> 01:37:24.040
Obviously, that's who's primarily in view.

01:37:24.040 --> 01:37:29.040
But notice it's not just to them only, it's to even the people that aren't there with them.

01:37:29.040 --> 01:37:34.040
And this could also extend to their future descendants as well, but it's everyone.

01:37:34.040 --> 01:37:37.040
He says in verse 16,

01:37:59.040 --> 01:38:04.040
unless there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood.

01:38:04.040 --> 01:38:11.040
And it come to pass when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying,

01:38:11.040 --> 01:38:17.040
I shall appease, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst.

01:38:17.040 --> 01:38:22.040
The Lord will not spare him, but then the anger of the Lord in his jealousy shall smoke against that man,

01:38:22.040 --> 01:38:26.040
and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him,

01:38:26.040 --> 01:38:30.040
and the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven.

01:38:30.040 --> 01:38:37.040
Just saying, hey, just because you're with us, if you just say, you know what, I don't need God's word,

01:38:37.040 --> 01:38:41.040
and you just go against it, God will destroy that person.

01:38:41.040 --> 01:38:46.040
Now, I believe that the main context here is someone that just didn't even believe,

01:38:46.040 --> 01:38:52.040
because obviously, being blotted out is kind of a picture of someone that's not saved.

01:38:52.040 --> 01:38:59.040
So obviously, there's people who just that are saved could still go down this path.

01:38:59.040 --> 01:39:02.040
It's primarily in view of people that never believed.

01:39:02.040 --> 01:39:05.040
So, of course, they just forsake the God of the Bible.

01:39:05.040 --> 01:39:09.040
They go worship other gods, meaning this is someone that go into a false religion.

01:39:09.040 --> 01:39:16.040
Someone that was raised Baptist, but then leaves and joins the Catholic Church will die and go to hell.

01:39:16.040 --> 01:39:21.040
Someone that was raised Baptist and joins the Orthodox Church will die and go to hell.

01:39:21.040 --> 01:39:28.040
Someone that leaves the Baptist Church and becomes a Hindu or whatever false religion, an atheist, they will die and go to hell.

01:39:28.040 --> 01:39:33.040
Because the curse of the law applies to them as well, even if they say, you know what, I'm going to be good.

01:39:33.040 --> 01:39:43.040
And, of course, someone that's saved still could walk away from just church or a good church or serving God and think, no, I'll be good.

01:39:43.040 --> 01:39:45.040
You know, leaving church is the best thing that ever happened to me.

01:39:45.040 --> 01:39:49.040
And, of course, what is the main sin that he brings up, getting drunk?

01:39:49.040 --> 01:39:52.040
But there are people that will leave a church like ours just so they can drink alcohol.

01:39:52.040 --> 01:39:59.040
And God says, I'm going to rain up and cloud on you or cloud up and rain on you, sorry, and basically pour out curses and wrath upon you.

01:39:59.040 --> 01:40:02.040
Hey, you're going to get all these curses.

01:40:02.040 --> 01:40:07.040
Says in verse 21, and the Lord shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel,

01:40:07.040 --> 01:40:10.040
according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law.

01:40:10.040 --> 01:40:17.040
So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you and the stranger that shall come from a far land shall say,

01:40:17.040 --> 01:40:22.040
When they see the plagues of that land and the sicknesses which the Lord hath laid upon it,

01:40:22.040 --> 01:40:30.040
and that the whole land thereof is brimstone and salt and burning, that it is not sown nor bareth, nor any grass groweth therein,

01:40:30.040 --> 01:40:37.040
like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Adma and Zoboam, which the Lord overthrew in his anger and in his wrath, even all nations shall say,

01:40:37.040 --> 01:40:43.040
Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this land? What meaneth the heat of this great anger?

01:40:43.040 --> 01:40:50.040
So he's saying in the future, the children of Israel are going to go after false gods, and then God's going to destroy them,

01:40:50.040 --> 01:40:56.040
and then he's going to even make the land like a wilderness basically, and then everyone's going to see like, what happened?

01:40:56.040 --> 01:41:02.040
There was this thriving nation with millions of people, and they were growing all these crops and had all this stuff going on,

01:41:02.040 --> 01:41:08.040
and now all of a sudden it's just a wilderness and they're all just cursed. What happened?

01:41:08.040 --> 01:41:14.040
Well, then it says, Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers,

01:41:14.040 --> 01:41:19.040
which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, for they went and served other gods,

01:41:19.040 --> 01:41:23.040
and worshiped them gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them.

01:41:23.040 --> 01:41:29.040
And the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book.

01:41:29.040 --> 01:41:36.040
And the Lord rooted them out of their land in anger and wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

01:41:36.040 --> 01:41:41.040
So what is he saying? Well, he's talking about when we think about the first Babylonian captivity,

01:41:41.040 --> 01:41:46.040
and if you read Deuteronomy 28 with us, you realize those horrific curses,

01:41:46.040 --> 01:41:52.040
all of those things happened in the book of Jeremiah to those children of Israel when they went to the Babylonian captivity.

01:41:52.040 --> 01:41:55.040
They literally ate their own children. It was that bad.

01:41:55.040 --> 01:41:59.040
And it's like people are looking at Israel saying like, What happened?

01:41:59.040 --> 01:42:04.040
They forsook God and went over false gods, and as a result they got punished.

01:42:04.040 --> 01:42:09.040
Then we see another fulfillment of this particular prophecy in another way is 70 AD,

01:42:09.040 --> 01:42:16.040
when the Jews that rejected the Lord Jesus Christ had Titus and the Roman Empire come against them,

01:42:16.040 --> 01:42:21.040
and basically just destroy them in their temple and everything they have to do,

01:42:21.040 --> 01:42:28.040
and scattered them for centuries, centuries, and that was a wilderness for centuries.

01:42:28.040 --> 01:42:38.040
You know, if God just loves the Jewish people no matter what, what happened for 200 AD, and 300 AD, and 400 AD, and 500 AD, and 600 AD,

01:42:38.040 --> 01:42:45.040
and you want me to keep counting? I mean, it's just like you need to go to the old IAB and tell them, Hey, 900 AD and 1000 AD,

01:42:45.040 --> 01:42:49.040
and why were they kicked out of so many nations, and just why was it just a wilderness?

01:42:49.040 --> 01:42:55.040
And then it's just like miracle 1948. Well, in order for that to be true,

01:42:55.040 --> 01:42:58.040
when did they repent and receive Jesus Christ and start following his commandments again?

01:42:58.040 --> 01:43:06.040
Why is Tel Aviv having the largest LGBT festival in the world, and we're supposed to believe this is God's blessing?

01:43:06.040 --> 01:43:09.040
Yeah, well, they went back and crops, you know, crops started growing again.

01:43:09.040 --> 01:43:15.040
Well, that doesn't necessarily definitively prove that God is with them anymore.

01:43:15.040 --> 01:43:20.040
And of course, we see why were they dispersed for so long, because they rejected the God of the Bible,

01:43:20.040 --> 01:43:24.040
they rejected the Lord Jesus Christ, and they were cursed, and they were punished,

01:43:24.040 --> 01:43:29.040
and that's why we looked at them as a curse. That's why the Apostle Paul brings up in 1 Thessalonians

01:43:29.040 --> 01:43:34.040
that they're contrary to all men, that the wrath of God has come upon them to the uttermost.

01:43:34.040 --> 01:43:37.040
How could he say the wrath of God has come upon them to the uttermost?

01:43:37.040 --> 01:43:40.040
Because he saw the wrath of God come upon them to the uttermost.

01:43:40.040 --> 01:43:43.040
Verse 29, The secret things belong unto the Lord our God,

01:43:43.040 --> 01:43:46.040
but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever,

01:43:46.040 --> 01:43:49.040
that we may do all the words of this law.

01:43:49.040 --> 01:43:52.040
So, you know, this emphasizes another point that I brought up earlier,

01:43:52.040 --> 01:43:57.040
but hey, there are things that we don't know.

01:43:57.040 --> 01:43:59.040
There are secrets that we don't know.

01:43:59.040 --> 01:44:03.040
There are things that God knows. There's things in heaven.

01:44:03.040 --> 01:44:06.040
There's things in the future that we don't know.

01:44:06.040 --> 01:44:09.040
But what is the Bible saying? That's for God.

01:44:09.040 --> 01:44:14.040
The secrets are for the Lord. You don't need to worry about the secrets.

01:44:14.040 --> 01:44:16.040
You don't need to worry about what's been revealed.

01:44:16.040 --> 01:44:19.040
You know what's been revealed? This book.

01:44:19.040 --> 01:44:23.040
Now, stop worrying about what's not revealed and worry about what is revealed.

01:44:23.040 --> 01:44:26.040
Just do what you've been told. Just do what God actually said.

01:44:26.040 --> 01:44:30.040
Read the books that God's actually given us and quit worrying about all the secrets.

01:44:30.040 --> 01:44:34.040
Quit worrying about all the hidden knowledge and the esoteric things.

01:44:34.040 --> 01:44:37.040
They're all wrong anyways.

01:44:37.040 --> 01:44:40.040
Because you know what the Bible said? All the secrets belong to somebody.

01:44:40.040 --> 01:44:44.040
God. The Freemasons don't have any secrets of God.

01:44:44.040 --> 01:44:47.040
The Mormons don't have any secrets of God.

01:44:47.040 --> 01:44:49.040
Hindus don't have any secrets of God.

01:44:49.040 --> 01:44:52.040
Adam Fannin doesn't have any secrets of God, okay folks?

01:44:52.040 --> 01:44:55.040
These people that think they have this special knowledge or this extra wisdom

01:44:55.040 --> 01:45:00.040
or hey, you've got to read these other books or this other knowledge or this other documentary.

01:45:00.040 --> 01:45:04.040
It's all fake and false and wrong.

01:45:04.040 --> 01:45:07.040
All the secrets belong to God.

01:45:07.040 --> 01:45:11.040
Anything that we need to know about God or could know about God is in this book.

01:45:11.040 --> 01:45:15.040
We have the complete revelation. We're complete in Christ.

01:45:15.040 --> 01:45:18.040
We have the mind of Christ. This is all we need.

01:45:18.040 --> 01:45:21.040
Does that mean that there isn't other things to learn or know?

01:45:21.040 --> 01:45:25.040
No, there is. But you can't know them right now so quit worrying about it.

01:45:25.040 --> 01:45:28.040
It's kind of like children, okay children?

01:45:28.040 --> 01:45:33.040
Sometimes you like want to know adult things or you're trying to ask your parents stuff

01:45:33.040 --> 01:45:36.040
and they're like you don't need to know. You don't need to know.

01:45:36.040 --> 01:45:39.040
When you're a kid, you don't need to know everything yet.

01:45:39.040 --> 01:45:43.040
And I promise your parents love you enough. They'll give you the information when you need it.

01:45:43.040 --> 01:45:46.040
But it's just like you're 11, you don't need to know how to drive yet.

01:45:46.040 --> 01:45:50.040
Okay? When you're 15, we'll start talking about it, right?

01:45:50.040 --> 01:45:53.040
When you're 11, you don't need to know that kind of stuff.

01:45:53.040 --> 01:45:56.040
You don't need to know about getting married when you're 11.

01:45:56.040 --> 01:46:01.040
Okay? You don't need to know about all the adult topics until you get there.

01:46:01.040 --> 01:46:04.040
And at the end of the day, it's like the same with us.

01:46:04.040 --> 01:46:07.040
God is saying hey, you don't need to know everything.

01:46:07.040 --> 01:46:11.040
There's still other stuff to know, but I'm not going to tell you.

01:46:11.040 --> 01:46:14.040
You know, there's things in the Bible it just doesn't tell you.

01:46:14.040 --> 01:46:17.040
It's like hey, the seven thunders uttered. Don't write it.

01:46:17.040 --> 01:46:20.040
It's like dang it, what was that?

01:46:20.040 --> 01:46:25.040
You know, don't spend your whole life being like I'm going to try and figure out what the seven thunders uttered.

01:46:25.040 --> 01:46:27.040
I want to know what that was.

01:46:27.040 --> 01:46:32.040
Or I want to know what my name is that's written in heaven that no man knows yet or whatever.

01:46:32.040 --> 01:46:35.040
Or I want to learn that song that no one can learn.

01:46:35.040 --> 01:46:40.040
No, there's certain things we don't know yet that aren't revealed that we can't know exactly yet.

01:46:40.040 --> 01:46:42.040
Don't worry about that.

01:46:42.040 --> 01:46:44.040
Worry about what you can know.

01:46:44.040 --> 01:46:46.040
Deal with the things that you can know.

01:46:46.040 --> 01:46:50.040
You know, you have to have the serenity to accept the things you can't change.

01:46:50.040 --> 01:46:53.040
What's going on with the Epstein files? I don't know.

01:46:53.040 --> 01:46:56.040
But I can't really fix it, can I?

01:46:56.040 --> 01:46:57.040
And look, it will be revealed.

01:46:57.040 --> 01:47:01.040
God will reveal the Epstein files at the Great White Throne Judgment.

01:47:01.040 --> 01:47:03.040
And then we'll all know. We'll know what was in them.

01:47:03.040 --> 01:47:07.040
We'll know what was going on with Trump. I don't know, you know.

01:47:07.040 --> 01:47:09.040
Somebody was getting mad at me. They were like,

01:47:09.040 --> 01:47:11.040
do you think there was preprogressive people in those files?

01:47:11.040 --> 01:47:12.040
And I'm like, yeah.

01:47:12.040 --> 01:47:13.040
And they're like, well, prove it.

01:47:13.040 --> 01:47:15.040
And I'm like, I don't need to prove it.

01:47:15.040 --> 01:47:18.040
But it's just like, why do I have to care?

01:47:18.040 --> 01:47:20.040
You know, obviously as a citizen, as a concerned citizen,

01:47:20.040 --> 01:47:23.040
I think that our government should punish evildoers,

01:47:23.040 --> 01:47:25.040
and they should investigate this, and they should reveal them.

01:47:25.040 --> 01:47:27.040
So don't hear me wrong. I'm not saying it shouldn't be revealed.

01:47:27.040 --> 01:47:33.040
But since I can't affect it, since I can't force my hand in this particular issue,

01:47:33.040 --> 01:47:36.040
I have the serenity to accept that I can't change it.

01:47:36.040 --> 01:47:39.040
I have the serenity to accept that I can't change the past.

01:47:39.040 --> 01:47:42.040
I have the serenity to accept that I can't force anybody to do anything.

01:47:42.040 --> 01:47:44.040
Everybody has free will.

01:47:44.040 --> 01:47:48.040
You know, I can't change bad decisions I've made.

01:47:48.040 --> 01:47:53.040
There are so many times where I've been very angry at myself for decisions I've made.

01:47:53.040 --> 01:47:55.040
Who's ever been mad at yourself for a decision you've made?

01:47:55.040 --> 01:48:00.040
Okay? Here's something you need to do. Forget it.

01:48:00.040 --> 01:48:05.040
You know the Apostle Paul? He says, he counts those things done.

01:48:05.040 --> 01:48:08.040
He's reaching forth to that which is ahead.

01:48:08.040 --> 01:48:10.040
He doesn't care about that anymore.

01:48:10.040 --> 01:48:13.040
You can't change it. You can't fix it.

01:48:13.040 --> 01:48:16.040
Now again, you can make better decisions,

01:48:16.040 --> 01:48:18.040
but what I'm saying is you can't change the past.

01:48:18.040 --> 01:48:20.040
Live in the present.

01:48:20.040 --> 01:48:25.040
Live in the present, and hey, we can only affect what we can do right now.

01:48:25.040 --> 01:48:27.040
And that's the most important way to live your life.

01:48:27.040 --> 01:48:31.040
You know, also it's like, when is the end times? You don't know.

01:48:31.040 --> 01:48:34.040
Don't worry about that. Worry about today.

01:48:34.040 --> 01:48:36.040
Worry about what you can affect right now.

01:48:36.040 --> 01:48:39.040
Worry about reading your Bible. Worry about going to church.

01:48:39.040 --> 01:48:43.040
Worry about paying the bills and taking care of your family and raising your children

01:48:43.040 --> 01:48:47.040
and loving them and teaching them the Bible and going soul winning.

01:48:47.040 --> 01:48:49.040
Worry about the next missions trip you're going to go on.

01:48:49.040 --> 01:48:52.040
You know, don't worry about all the things you can affect.

01:48:52.040 --> 01:48:54.040
Worry about the things that you can affect.

01:48:54.040 --> 01:49:01.040
And spend most of your time thinking and doing things that you can actually control.

01:49:01.040 --> 01:49:04.040
There's so many people that are so worried about things they can't change,

01:49:04.040 --> 01:49:06.040
obsessing about things that they can't change.

01:49:06.040 --> 01:49:08.040
You know, let me explain something to you ladies.

01:49:08.040 --> 01:49:11.040
You can't force your husband to do anything. Stop worrying about it.

01:49:11.040 --> 01:49:15.040
You can't change him. You can't fix him.

01:49:15.040 --> 01:49:19.040
Okay? And even if you did, you would want to change him still.

01:49:19.040 --> 01:49:24.040
Alright? As soon as you fixed him, you would want another thing fixed. Okay?

01:49:24.040 --> 01:49:27.040
Don't worry about everybody else. Worry about yourself.

01:49:27.040 --> 01:49:29.040
And worry about right now in the present.

01:49:29.040 --> 01:49:31.040
Worry about what God's already told you.

01:49:31.040 --> 01:49:34.040
You can only give account for yourself at the day of judgment.

01:49:34.040 --> 01:49:37.040
And you know, if you have breath in your lungs, God's not done with you.

01:49:39.040 --> 01:49:42.040
You can do great things for God and still store up great treasures on this earth

01:49:42.040 --> 01:49:44.040
if you just focus on God.

01:49:44.040 --> 01:49:46.040
And he can give us, he can get us through it, we'll just,

01:49:46.040 --> 01:49:49.040
let us not forget the blessings he's given us.

01:49:49.040 --> 01:49:51.040
But let us forget all the stuff he can't fix.

01:49:52.040 --> 01:49:55.040
Remember the blessings, not the bad things.

01:49:55.040 --> 01:49:57.040
You know, remember all the good things your husband did,

01:49:57.040 --> 01:49:59.040
not all the bad things he did, alright?

01:50:01.040 --> 01:50:03.040
And of course, as Christians, let us focus on what God has revealed to us.

01:50:03.040 --> 01:50:05.040
Let's close in prayer. Thank you, Heavenly Father, so much for your word.

01:50:05.040 --> 01:50:07.040
Thank you for the blessings you've given our church.

01:50:07.040 --> 01:50:09.040
Thank you for the blessings you've given us and our families

01:50:09.040 --> 01:50:11.040
and all the things that we have.

01:50:11.040 --> 01:50:14.040
Sometimes we forget all the good you have done unto us.

01:50:14.040 --> 01:50:16.040
I pray that you'd help remind us of those things.

01:50:16.040 --> 01:50:18.040
I pray that we'd have a thankful heart,

01:50:18.040 --> 01:50:21.040
that we'd have a heart that desires to serve you,

01:50:22.040 --> 01:50:24.040
that we would not seek to enrich ourselves or fame or glory,

01:50:24.040 --> 01:50:26.040
but rather we'd put you first.

01:50:26.040 --> 01:50:28.040
And I pray that you would help us to just be focused on the things

01:50:28.040 --> 01:50:30.040
you have revealed to us that you've given us in your word,

01:50:30.040 --> 01:50:32.040
that we wouldn't be distracted with things that we can't know or can't fix.

01:50:32.040 --> 01:50:34.040
In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

01:50:34.040 --> 01:50:36.040
Amen.

01:50:36.040 --> 01:50:38.040
Amen.

01:50:38.040 --> 01:50:40.040
Our last song this evening, page 207 in your hymn books,

01:50:40.040 --> 01:50:42.040
is the song that you've been listening to,

01:50:42.040 --> 01:50:44.040
and I'm sure you've heard it before,

01:50:44.040 --> 01:50:46.040
and I'm sure you've heard it before,

01:50:46.040 --> 01:50:48.040
and I'm sure you've heard it before,

01:50:48.040 --> 01:50:50.040
song number 207,

01:50:51.040 --> 01:50:53.040
song number 207,

01:50:53.040 --> 01:50:55.040
Only a Sinner.

01:50:58.040 --> 01:51:00.040
Only a Sinner, page 207.

01:51:06.040 --> 01:51:08.040
Page 207, singing out with us on the first.

01:51:10.040 --> 01:51:12.040
Not have I got dem

01:51:12.040 --> 01:51:14.040
But what I receive

01:51:14.040 --> 01:51:20.040
Praise that which is inside and be.

01:51:20.040 --> 01:51:25.040
Lo, sing through it, by thy grace.

01:51:25.040 --> 01:51:30.040
Thy holyest dinner, save thy grace.

01:51:30.040 --> 01:51:35.040
Holyest dinner, save thy grace.

01:51:35.040 --> 01:51:40.040
Holyest dinner, save thy grace.

01:51:40.040 --> 01:51:45.040
This is my story to God, be the glory.

01:51:45.040 --> 01:51:50.040
I'm only a sinner, save thy grace.

01:51:50.040 --> 01:51:55.040
Once my heart was full, this is sinful, by Lord.

01:51:55.040 --> 01:52:00.040
Crossing my own steps from God to the Lord.

01:52:00.040 --> 01:52:05.040
He doesn't know me, have me by faith.

01:52:05.040 --> 01:52:10.040
I now am a sinner, save thy grace.

01:52:10.040 --> 01:52:15.040
Holyest dinner, save thy grace.

01:52:15.040 --> 01:52:20.040
Holyest dinner, save thy grace.

01:52:20.040 --> 01:52:25.040
This is my story to God, be the glory.

01:52:25.040 --> 01:52:30.040
I'm only a sinner, save thy grace.

01:52:31.040 --> 01:52:36.040
Tears not filling, no bear with my eyes.

01:52:36.040 --> 01:52:41.040
Mercy does they be, or else I will die.

01:52:41.040 --> 01:52:46.040
Sin has a large need, fear he can't face.

01:52:46.040 --> 01:52:51.040
But now I'm a sinner, save thy grace.

01:52:51.040 --> 01:52:56.040
Holyest dinner, save thy grace.

01:52:56.040 --> 01:53:01.040
Holyest dinner, save thy grace.

01:53:01.040 --> 01:53:06.040
This is my story to God, be the glory.

01:53:06.040 --> 01:53:11.040
I'm only a sinner, save thy grace.

01:53:11.040 --> 01:53:16.040
Slaughter a sinner who's far and over full.

01:53:16.040 --> 01:53:21.040
Love me a sinner to tell what he knows.

01:53:21.040 --> 01:53:26.040
Once more to tell it, but I embrace.

01:53:26.040 --> 01:53:31.040
I'm only a sinner, save thy grace.

01:53:31.040 --> 01:53:36.040
Holyest dinner, save thy grace.

01:53:36.040 --> 01:53:41.040
Holyest dinner, save thy grace.

01:53:41.040 --> 01:53:46.040
This is my story to God, be the glory.

01:53:46.040 --> 01:53:51.040
I'm only a sinner, save thy grace.
