Okay. 35:29.000 --> 35:31.000 So I don't think that we should try to be 35:31.000 --> 35:33.000 different than God. I don't think that 35:33.000 --> 35:35.000 if God is almost four times 35:35.000 --> 35:37.000 more negative than positive, 35:37.000 --> 35:39.000 then who am I to say, 35:39.000 --> 35:41.000 well, I think I should be four times more 35:41.000 --> 35:43.000 positive than negative when I preach the Bible. 35:43.000 --> 35:45.000 Wouldn't that be me leaning upon 35:45.000 --> 35:47.000 my own understanding? And would that be 35:47.000 --> 35:49.000 me making myself better than God? 35:49.000 --> 35:51.000 And what's really interesting today 35:51.000 --> 35:53.000 is how so many preachers today 35:53.000 --> 35:55.000 will attack me 35:55.000 --> 35:57.000 or attack the way I preach or the style 35:57.000 --> 35:59.000 I preach or the sermons I preach and 35:59.000 --> 36:01.000 act like it's too negative or too harsh 36:01.000 --> 36:03.000 or just going over 36:03.000 --> 36:05.000 a board. But I think if we slow 36:05.000 --> 36:07.000 down and really think about this chapter for a moment, 36:07.000 --> 36:09.000 this chapter is very negative 36:09.000 --> 36:11.000 and not only is it very negative, God 36:11.000 --> 36:13.000 has dreamed up the worst 36:13.000 --> 36:15.000 ways to punish a man imaginable 36:15.000 --> 36:17.000 and put them all in a chapter here for us. 36:17.000 --> 36:19.000 Because God 36:19.000 --> 36:21.000 really does think of the worst 36:21.000 --> 36:23.000 ways to possibly harm someone 36:23.000 --> 36:25.000 and then does it to them 36:25.000 --> 36:27.000 as a punishment. 36:27.000 --> 36:29.000 And including hell. Of course hell 36:29.000 --> 36:31.000 is post-death, but he's saying 36:31.000 --> 36:33.000 while still alive, 36:33.000 --> 36:35.000 I know every way to punish you 36:35.000 --> 36:37.000 that I could possibly punish you and 36:37.000 --> 36:39.000 I will do all of it to you. However, 36:39.000 --> 36:41.000 if you follow my commandments, you'll get 36:41.000 --> 36:43.000 blessing. You know, there's no 36:43.000 --> 36:45.000 neutrality with God. I think there's a lot 36:45.000 --> 36:47.000 of people that think there's neutrality with God. 36:47.000 --> 36:49.000 There's no such thing as neutrality with God. 36:49.000 --> 36:51.000 You're either being blessed or you're being 36:51.000 --> 36:53.000 cursed. And that's why I talked about 36:53.000 --> 36:55.000 how it's so important to understand, you know, 36:55.000 --> 36:57.000 if you're standing on Mount Gerizim, you're being blessed. 36:57.000 --> 36:59.000 If you're standing on Mount Ebal, you're being cursed. 36:59.000 --> 37:01.000 There really isn't this option of, 37:01.000 --> 37:03.000 well, just nothing's happening. No, 37:03.000 --> 37:05.000 the Bible says you're going to reap what you sow. 37:05.000 --> 37:07.000 And even doing nothing in and of itself 37:07.000 --> 37:09.000 brings a curse upon you 37:09.000 --> 37:11.000 because you bring all kinds of just 37:11.000 --> 37:13.000 laziness and apathy and stupidity 37:13.000 --> 37:15.000 and just failure upon 37:15.000 --> 37:17.000 you and the consequences of 37:17.000 --> 37:19.000 doing such a thing. The Bible talks about 37:19.000 --> 37:21.000 certain groups of people that would not go out to battle 37:21.000 --> 37:23.000 and not go out to the fight. 37:23.000 --> 37:25.000 And God ends up punishing them for not 37:25.000 --> 37:27.000 going out to the fight and not going out to the battle. 37:27.000 --> 37:29.000 In fact, slays all of them and takes 37:29.000 --> 37:31.000 their daughters for captives for the 37:31.000 --> 37:33.000 Benjamites. And so there's no such thing as 37:33.000 --> 37:35.000 neutrality with God. You're either on 37:35.000 --> 37:37.000 the blessing side or you're on the cursing side. 37:37.000 --> 37:39.000 And what is the determining 37:39.000 --> 37:41.000 factor? Whether or not you keep God's 37:41.000 --> 37:43.000 commandments. We're going to mostly just be going through 38:19.000 --> 38:21.000 it and just reading it again, but 38:21.000 --> 38:23.000 just emphasizing a few points. Number 38:23.000 --> 38:25.000 one, it says here, 38:41.000 --> 38:43.000 Now, God does demand 38:43.000 --> 38:45.000 that we follow all of his commandments. 38:45.000 --> 38:47.000 But I want to frame that in a 38:47.000 --> 38:49.000 particular setting because, well, 38:49.000 --> 38:51.000 there's no excuse to break God's 38:51.000 --> 38:53.000 commandments. It's not like 38:53.000 --> 38:55.000 God required absolute 38:55.000 --> 38:57.000 and perfect obedience 38:57.000 --> 38:59.000 for them to be blessed as a nation. 38:59.000 --> 39:01.000 Otherwise, they would have never been blessed. 39:01.000 --> 39:03.000 Obviously, the Bible gives provision for 39:03.000 --> 39:05.000 men to sin and then how they 39:05.000 --> 39:07.000 would rectify that sin through making 39:07.000 --> 39:09.000 offerings, through the 39:09.000 --> 39:11.000 trespass offerings, through the sin offerings. 39:11.000 --> 39:13.000 So basically, it's just saying, look, it's okay 39:13.000 --> 39:15.000 that you screw up occasionally. It's okay that you're going to make 39:15.000 --> 39:17.000 mistakes. Hey, but as long as you're 39:17.000 --> 39:19.000 then offering the sin offerings 39:19.000 --> 39:21.000 and the trespass offerings and doing 39:21.000 --> 39:23.000 these things, then you know what? You're going to stay in 39:23.000 --> 39:25.000 that blessing lane, essentially. 39:25.000 --> 39:27.000 It's not like God is 39:27.000 --> 39:29.000 unrealistic here 39:29.000 --> 39:31.000 and setting them up for failure. 39:31.000 --> 39:33.000 But we do understand from a salvific 39:33.000 --> 39:35.000 perspective, you do have to technically keep all the 39:35.000 --> 39:37.000 commandments if you wanted to go to heaven 39:37.000 --> 39:39.000 based on your merits. Problem is, 39:39.000 --> 39:41.000 you're never going to make it on your merits. 39:41.000 --> 39:43.000 So therefore, we have to 39:43.000 --> 39:45.000 have God's grace. We can't have the law. 39:45.000 --> 39:47.000 The law is not gracious. 39:47.000 --> 39:49.000 The law is justice. 39:49.000 --> 39:51.000 Of course, if we get what we deserve, 39:51.000 --> 39:53.000 we would never go to heaven. That's why salvation 39:53.000 --> 39:55.000 is a free gift. However, in this 39:55.000 --> 39:57.000 life, we often are going to 39:57.000 --> 39:59.000 reap what we sow. And I'm not saying 39:59.000 --> 40:01.000 that grace can't have its play because 40:01.000 --> 40:03.000 it does. Obviously, we see the children 40:03.000 --> 40:05.000 of Israel have this offering system 40:05.000 --> 40:07.000 that they can go through to basically 40:07.000 --> 40:09.000 accommodate their sins. 40:09.000 --> 40:11.000 But at the same time, if they're just going to be an 40:11.000 --> 40:13.000 open rebellion, not seeking forgiveness, 40:13.000 --> 40:15.000 not seeking repentance, 40:15.000 --> 40:17.000 and just completely going against 40:17.000 --> 40:19.000 the commandments of God, well, 40:19.000 --> 40:21.000 then they're not going to receive the blessing and they're going to receive the 40:21.000 --> 40:23.000 cursing. Now it says in verse 40:23.000 --> 40:25.000 number three, blessed shalt thou be in the city 40:25.000 --> 40:27.000 and blessed shalt thou be in the field. 40:27.000 --> 40:29.000 So it doesn't matter if you're a farmer or not, you're going to be 40:29.000 --> 40:31.000 blessed, alright, even with AI. 40:31.000 --> 40:33.000 Verse four, blessed shalt 40:33.000 --> 40:35.000 be the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy 40:35.000 --> 40:37.000 ground and the fruit of thy cattle 40:37.000 --> 40:39.000 and the increase of thy kind 40:39.000 --> 40:41.000 and the flocks of thy sheep. So 40:41.000 --> 40:43.000 this is often in case 40:43.000 --> 40:45.000 just, if we think about their economic 40:45.000 --> 40:47.000 system, this is a major 40:47.000 --> 40:49.000 regard to their finances. 40:49.000 --> 40:51.000 Not only just having good food, 40:51.000 --> 40:53.000 but simply in many cases, this 40:53.000 --> 40:55.000 is going to attribute to their actual 40:55.000 --> 40:57.000 wealth as a nation. It says in 40:57.000 --> 40:59.000 verse five, blessed shalt be thy 40:59.000 --> 41:01.000 basket and thy store. This 41:01.000 --> 41:03.000 would be not only when you get money, you actually 41:03.000 --> 41:05.000 get to keep it. That it's not all being 41:05.000 --> 41:07.000 taken by taxes, 41:07.000 --> 41:09.000 oppression, just 41:09.000 --> 41:11.000 problems in society, 41:11.000 --> 41:13.000 problems in our government. 41:13.000 --> 41:15.000 Anytime we have just detriment 41:15.000 --> 41:17.000 in our government and our economic system, 41:17.000 --> 41:19.000 we all have to pay for it. 41:19.000 --> 41:21.000 If there's a tornado and it 41:21.000 --> 41:23.000 hammers some area and 41:23.000 --> 41:25.000 it destroys all these houses, 41:25.000 --> 41:27.000 it's like how does that get paid? Well, 41:27.000 --> 41:29.000 of course we have insurance, but again the 41:29.000 --> 41:31.000 insurance premiums go up so we all pay for it. 41:31.000 --> 41:33.000 Whenever a bunch of people are sick and they go 41:33.000 --> 41:35.000 to the hospital, well usually 41:35.000 --> 41:36.920 Clearly it's subsidized by the government. 41:36.920 --> 41:38.760 And guess who the government is again? 41:38.760 --> 41:40.200 We the people, all right? 41:40.200 --> 41:44.440 So they love us being part of the government when we pay taxes. 41:44.440 --> 41:48.360 They don't love us when they actually want to do what we want for government, right? 46:29.640 --> 46:32.680 Hey, he's going to bless you in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. 46:32.680 --> 46:36.920 Verse nine, the Lord shall establish thee in holy people unto himself as he has sworn 46:36.920 --> 46:37.920 unto thee. 46:37.920 --> 46:41.520 If thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God and walk in his ways. 46:41.520 --> 46:44.520 Hey, you're a holy people no matter what. 46:44.520 --> 46:46.760 You're special unto God no matter what. 46:46.760 --> 46:47.760 No, no, no. 46:47.760 --> 46:48.760 What does the Bible say? 46:48.840 --> 46:52.880 If thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God and walk in his ways. 46:52.880 --> 46:55.080 You know what makes the children of Israel holy? 46:55.080 --> 46:56.440 Keeping his commandments. 46:56.440 --> 46:57.440 Because here's the thing. 46:57.440 --> 46:59.080 What does holy even mean? 47:15.720 --> 47:17.200 By keeping God's commandments. 47:17.200 --> 47:20.160 By keeping God's commandments, you will separate yourself. 47:20.160 --> 47:22.920 By keeping God's commandments, you will sanctify yourself. 47:22.920 --> 47:25.480 And by keeping God's commandments is how you're holy. 47:25.480 --> 47:27.320 You're not just automatically holy. 47:27.320 --> 47:32.000 Of course, there's again, prosperity preachers and there's also these guys that will try 47:32.000 --> 47:35.560 to pretend like you're just automatically holy when you get saved. 47:35.560 --> 47:41.000 This Joseph Prince type doctrine that teaches just like automatic sanctification where you 47:41.000 --> 47:45.400 just instantly have perfect sanctification and God's not mad at you and you're already 47:45.400 --> 47:48.560 holy and you don't even need to work at it. 47:48.560 --> 47:51.680 And basically, there's no consequence for sinning anymore. 47:51.680 --> 47:54.360 This is a false doctrine. 47:54.360 --> 47:56.000 Holiness is through keeping God's commandments. 47:56.000 --> 47:58.040 And it is a commandment in the New Testament. 47:58.040 --> 47:59.040 Be holy. 47:59.040 --> 48:02.200 The Bible says, be therefore perfect, which your father in heaven is perfect. 48:02.200 --> 48:04.200 The Bible is to strive for perfection. 48:04.200 --> 48:06.880 The Bible teaches that we should strive for holiness. 48:06.880 --> 48:10.760 But at the end of the day, how do you become holy?
