Dear heavenly father, thank you for this day. 23:18.020 --> 23:21.380 I thank you for Steadfast Baptist Church and the souls that were saved today. 23:21.380 --> 23:24.260 Please continue to bless our church to bring forth fruit. 23:24.260 --> 23:31.180 I ask you to please bless our missionaries in the Philippines and please fill Pastor Shelley now with your Holy Spirit to preach the word to us in Jesus name. 23:31.180 --> 23:32.180 Amen. 23:32.780 --> 23:33.780 Amen. 23:34.980 --> 23:41.740 My sermon this evening is going to be continuing the series that we've been going through of the false doctrine section of our doctrinal statement. 23:41.740 --> 23:52.860 And the second thing that I have listed on our doctrinal statement is about Calvinism being a false doctrine and that I believe all five points of Calvinism or their five ideas of 23:52.860 --> 23:58.380 Calvinism identified as tulip are all wrong, false, perverted or twisted in some way. 23:58.380 --> 24:05.900 So some people will say I'm a one point Calvinist or a three point Calvinist or a four point or five or hyper. 24:05.900 --> 24:07.420 I'm a zero point. 24:07.420 --> 24:09.260 I don't believe in Calvinism at all. 24:09.260 --> 24:11.300 I deny it and reject it completely. 24:11.300 --> 24:23.580 And typically a lot of individuals, if you tell them you believe in once saved, always saved or eternal security, they'll label you a Calvinist or they'll say, oh, you must be Calvinistic in your belief system. 24:23.580 --> 24:28.260 I've had a lot of people tell me that I'm a Calvinist just simply for believing in eternal security. 24:28.260 --> 24:34.780 So, you know, sometimes that label can be thrown around or they'll say, well, if you're not a Calvinist, then you must be Armenian. 24:34.780 --> 24:38.900 And again, this is kind of like, oh, well, if you don't like Donald Trump, you're a Democrat. 24:38.900 --> 24:40.740 And it's like there can be another option. 24:40.740 --> 24:42.740 You know, you don't have to pick Coke or Pepsi. 24:42.740 --> 24:44.420 You can choose water. 24:44.420 --> 24:47.380 You don't have to pick Donald Trump or Joe Biden. 24:47.380 --> 24:49.860 You can simply just abstain from voting. 24:49.860 --> 24:53.340 And at the end of the day, you don't have to be a Calvinist or an Armenian. 24:53.340 --> 24:54.980 You can simply just believe the Bible. 24:55.020 --> 24:58.620 So, you know, I want to talk about Calvinism being exposed this evening. 24:58.620 --> 25:04.580 And I've preached a lot of sermons on Calvinism, but the and I've gone through Tula, but I'm going to go through it again. 25:04.580 --> 25:15.700 But from some different angles, the first point of their argument is really the most important point, because at the end of the day, a Calvinist rejects the concept or idea of free will. 25:15.700 --> 25:18.740 They don't believe in the ability for someone to be saved. 25:18.740 --> 25:20.300 And they use this first point. 25:20.300 --> 25:23.980 The first point is necessary for all the other points to be true. 25:23.980 --> 25:26.500 Instead of, quote, total depravity. 25:26.500 --> 25:31.540 And what this means is that an unsaved person can't even believe in Jesus Christ. 25:31.540 --> 25:44.740 Now, in order to prop up this false doctrine that they have of total depravity, they teach that Romans 1 is about everyone, this latter half, and that we're all totally depraved. 25:44.740 --> 25:49.260 So let's just go through Romans 1 for a moment and see if that's what it's really teaching. 25:49.260 --> 25:54.940 Is it really teaching just everyone is Romans 1 or is that not the narrative whatsoever? 25:54.940 --> 26:00.780 And of course, you know, it's it's important to not only explain what people believe wrong, but just explain what the truth is. 26:00.780 --> 26:02.620 What is Roman 1 really teaching? 26:02.620 --> 26:04.380 Well, let's start here in verse 16. 26:04.380 --> 26:12.660 For I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God and the salvation to everyone that believeth to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 26:12.660 --> 26:15.100 The gospel is so powerful it can get even a Jew saved. 26:15.100 --> 26:16.220 That's what the Bible is saying. 26:16.220 --> 26:20.300 So we understand that the power of the gospel is to those who what? 26:20.300 --> 26:23.220 Believe. So it's a faith based salvation. 26:23.220 --> 26:24.780 And how do people get saved? 26:24.780 --> 26:34.180 Well, it says in verse 17, for therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith as it is written, the just shall live by faith. 26:34.180 --> 26:36.500 So we were to think about what it's saying. 26:36.500 --> 26:39.700 It's saying in verse 17, something is revealed. 26:39.700 --> 26:41.300 What is revealed? 26:41.300 --> 26:45.380 The gospel is being revealed from faith to faith. 26:45.380 --> 26:49.460 So I can tell that someone saved by what? 26:49.460 --> 26:51.860 By their faith. That's what's being revealed. 26:51.860 --> 27:00.660 And we see the necessity of humans to preach the gospel because it goes from faith to faith. 27:00.660 --> 27:03.180 Why do we have a candlelight service at Christmas? 27:03.180 --> 27:07.500 Because it's to illustrate the truth that you can't take two dead candles and rub them together. 27:07.500 --> 27:13.700 You basically have one that's lit and the one that's lit then lights the next one and then that lights the next one and that lights the next one. 27:13.740 --> 27:15.140 And that's the power of the gospel. 27:15.140 --> 27:17.940 The gospel goes from one candlestick to the next. 27:17.940 --> 27:21.180 But essentially it had to be lit in the first place. 27:21.180 --> 27:25.500 And we understand that the gospel needs people to go out and actually preach it. 27:25.500 --> 27:26.660 That's what God has us for. 27:26.660 --> 27:29.900 That's what God wants us to do. 27:29.900 --> 27:32.100 That's why the apostle Paul is going to do it. 27:32.100 --> 27:33.500 Did you notice this in verse 15? 27:33.500 --> 27:38.420 So as much as he is, I'm ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 27:38.420 --> 27:43.540 So the apostle Paul wants to preach the gospel in Rome and he wants to preach it to a lot of people. 27:43.540 --> 27:45.700 Because not everyone in Rome is saved. 27:45.700 --> 27:48.820 Not everybody that's heard about the gospel is saved yet. 27:48.820 --> 27:50.940 So he wants to have some fruit there too. 27:50.940 --> 27:54.860 He understands that many of them are saved already, but he wants to have some fruit among them. 27:54.860 --> 27:57.420 He wants to preach the gospel to people that are in Rome. 27:57.420 --> 27:59.620 Rome is obviously a huge place. 27:59.620 --> 28:02.500 And so he needs to go there and preach the gospel too. 28:02.500 --> 28:04.780 And he's trying to reach the whole world with the gospel. 28:04.780 --> 28:06.220 How is he going to do it?
