I wanted to preach to the story of 27:21.140 --> 27:23.140 Sheikham the son of Hamor and Dinah 27:23.680 --> 27:26.940 But I did title my sermon, you know a little bit 27:27.600 --> 27:31.480 More of a broad generalization. It's called beware of Judaizers 27:32.120 --> 27:36.220 Beware of Judaizers, but I want to go through the story and just talk about it for a moment before we talk about 27:36.520 --> 27:39.320 This idea it says in verse 1 and dine of the daughter of Leah 27:39.400 --> 27:42.760 which she barren of Jacob went out to see the daughters of the land. 27:42.760 --> 27:46.280 And when she come the son of Hamor the high-vite prince of the country, Salari 27:46.280 --> 27:48.920 took her and lay with her and defiled her. So the Bible 27:48.920 --> 27:52.880 tells that Dinah goes out with the daughters the land. She run into 27:52.880 --> 27:55.880 the Bible says the prince of the country which means he's like the ruler. 27:55.880 --> 27:59.320 So essentially he's a leader, he's in a position of authority, 27:59.320 --> 28:03.280 probably a wealthier guy and the Bible is basically 28:03.280 --> 28:05.280 saying that they committed fornication. Now... 28:05.600 --> 28:09.000 Here in this particular story, we can learn a few things that, 28:09.000 --> 28:14.440 just allowing your daughters to just go out and do whatever they want, 28:14.440 --> 28:18.680 and especially, as the Bible describes it, with the daughters of the land, 28:18.680 --> 28:21.360 the chances of them committing fornication are very high. 28:21.700 --> 28:27.900 and just very likely that if you just allow your daughters to just go hang out with the women of this world, 28:27.900 --> 28:32.300 the chances of them committing fornication are just astronomically high today. 28:32.300 --> 28:38.300 Especially when we think about sororities, we think about college, we think about just the workforce. 28:38.300 --> 28:43.400 Most women in this world are committing fornication, they have no problem with fornication, 28:43.400 --> 28:49.700 and they will take other girls with them to commit fornication, going to establishments, going to business. 28:49.700 --> 28:52.700 going to places where there's a hookup culture, 28:52.700 --> 28:55.700 where people are just committing fornication in the open. 28:55.700 --> 28:57.700 It's not a big deal to them. 28:57.700 --> 29:00.700 And so that's why you should not, in my opinion, 29:00.700 --> 29:03.700 allow your daughters to just go unchaperoned 29:03.700 --> 29:06.700 with the daughters of the land to do who knows what, 29:06.700 --> 29:09.700 because the chances of them committing fornication are just very high. 29:10.700 --> 29:17.700 If you want to protect your daughter, I believe you should allow her to be chaperoned at least with a brother, or with her dad, or with her parents. 29:17.700 --> 29:22.700 The chances of her having committed fornication, having her brothers with her is very low. 29:22.700 --> 29:27.200 Whereas her going out with, and it's not even with her sisters, it's with the daughters of the land. 29:27.200 --> 29:31.200 You know, girls just want to have fun. You know, this is not... 29:31.500 --> 29:39.300 Christianity, this is what the Jews want you to believe and want you to do is they want your daughters to go out and prostitute themselves to the land. 29:39.300 --> 29:41.500 And of course, you know, it's not that... 29:41.800 --> 29:46.800 You know, in this particular story, it's not that like, Sheekham isn't necessarily a good guy in general. 29:46.800 --> 29:49.800 It's not that Dinah isn't a good girl in general. 29:49.800 --> 29:56.800 It's a natural thing. It's a natural thing for guys to like girls and for girls to like guys and for them to want to date 29:56.800 --> 30:00.800 and for them to find themselves in these romantic relationships. 30:00.800 --> 30:05.800 It's not something that's contrary to nature. It's very natural. It's very normal. 30:05.800 --> 30:09.800 It's something that is almost expected of our culture even. 30:09.800 --> 30:13.200 And it's kind of praised in our culture in many ways. 30:13.200 --> 30:15.540 A lot of people are just having boyfriends 30:15.540 --> 30:17.140 and just living with each other. 30:17.140 --> 30:19.380 And it's just, it's very common in the world today. 30:19.380 --> 30:22.620 And so it's a form of separation 30:22.620 --> 30:25.460 to not allow your daughters to just go out 30:25.460 --> 30:27.960 un-chaperoned, to do who knows what. 30:27.960 --> 30:30.020 And look, I've been around the block. 30:30.020 --> 30:31.620 I went to public school. 30:31.620 --> 30:33.100 I went to college. 30:33.100 --> 30:35.060 I'm not just speaking in an, you know, 30:35.060 --> 30:37.800 just in an exaggerated bombastic manner. 30:37.800 --> 30:40.000 The statistics are out there. 30:40.000 --> 30:43.560 It's like 90 some percent, 95, 98% 30:43.560 --> 30:44.760 of people are committing fornication 30:44.760 --> 30:45.960 before they get married. 30:45.960 --> 30:49.160 And so, don't be a naive parent. 30:49.300 --> 30:54.900 that thinks, oh well my daughter would never do this or my son would never do this. 30:54.900 --> 30:57.780 No, the statistics are really high on this. 30:57.780 --> 31:03.540 You should just be diligent if you actually care about their virginity, actually care about protecting them. 31:03.540 --> 31:06.260 I just don't think you can just allow them to go do whatever they want 31:06.260 --> 31:08.500 and just expect them to make all the right decisions. 31:08.500 --> 31:13.140 It's just probably too unrealistic and you're just begging for trouble. 31:13.140 --> 31:15.620 So that's one of the lessons we can learn from the story. 31:16.200 --> 31:19.200 Because again, I don't think Dinah's a bad girl. 31:19.200 --> 31:22.700 I don't think that Jacob's obviously a bad dad or a bad parent. 31:22.700 --> 31:26.620 It's just that if you allow people to go unchaperoned and just do whatever they want, the chance 31:26.620 --> 31:29.120 of them doing this is just so high. 31:29.120 --> 31:31.140 That's why you shouldn't trust them. 31:31.140 --> 31:33.020 The Bible says to flee fornication. 31:33.020 --> 31:35.700 Why would you have to just literally run away? 31:35.700 --> 31:40.300 Why did Joseph, when he was with Potiphar's wife, have to literally run away? 31:40.600 --> 31:44.280 Because the Bible is just saying it's just such a strong temptation. 31:44.280 --> 31:50.040 It's just such an easy sin to fall into that you almost have to literally run away 31:50.040 --> 31:54.840 to even escape this type of a situation and this circumstance. 31:54.840 --> 31:57.560 And it just affects just so many people. 31:57.560 --> 32:00.520 Now, does that mean that we should just say it's not a big deal then? 32:00.520 --> 32:01.560 No, it is a big deal. 32:01.560 --> 32:06.200 But does that mean that we should also act like it's not going to happen? 32:06.200 --> 32:08.120 No, we realize it's a high likelihood. 32:08.600 --> 32:12.040 So it takes a lot of effort for it to not happen. 32:12.040 --> 32:13.840 It's very easy for it to happen. 32:13.840 --> 32:17.320 It's very hard to prevent it from happening. 32:17.320 --> 32:18.520 And so it takes a lot of effort. 32:18.520 --> 32:19.880 It takes a lot of energy. 32:19.880 --> 32:21.400 But you know, I think you'll be benefited 32:21.400 --> 32:23.780 if you put in that effort and energy anyways. 32:24.920 --> 32:27.120 I noticed though, look at verse three, it says this, 32:27.120 --> 32:30.940 and it's so clave unto Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, 32:30.940 --> 32:34.320 and he loved the damsel and spake kindly unto the damsel. 32:34.320 --> 32:36.400 This is the narrator of the Bible speaking. 32:36.500 --> 32:42.660 So the Bible isn't saying like Sheikah is just some unhonorable person. In fact, skip down just 32:42.660 --> 32:48.020 a hair and look at verse 19 at the very latter part of this verse. And he was more honorable 32:48.740 --> 32:53.860 than all the house of his father. According to the Bible, Sheikah is like the best of the 32:53.860 --> 33:00.900 best of his group. Like he's kind of like a great guy, very honorable. He loves Dinah. 33:01.460 --> 33:02.980 And then probably in his culture. 33:03.500 --> 33:05.900 You know, this isn't even necessarily a bad thing probably. 33:05.900 --> 33:07.800 It's probably not even looked down upon. 33:07.800 --> 33:12.700 It's probably not as much of a reproach as it would be to the children of Israel 33:12.700 --> 33:15.800 under those that have the God of the Bible at this point in time. 33:15.800 --> 33:19.000 So in his mind, he's not even necessarily doing anything wrong. 33:19.000 --> 33:21.400 He loves this girl. He doesn't really know better. 33:21.400 --> 33:23.900 Yet, obviously, this is still sin against God. 33:23.900 --> 33:26.500 This is still a bad thing. It's still wrong. 33:26.500 --> 33:28.400 Whether he felt like it was wrong. 33:28.400 --> 33:31.400 People think like, oh, a fornication's wrong if you... 33:31.500 --> 33:33.260 if you don't really love the person. 33:33.260 --> 33:34.640 No, it's wrong, period. 33:35.760 --> 33:37.480 It's a sin, period. 33:37.480 --> 33:39.020 I don't care if you love each other. 33:39.020 --> 33:40.980 And I think that's why it's important to read the story 33:40.980 --> 33:42.420 because it says he did love her, 33:42.420 --> 33:43.980 but let me tell you something, it was still wrong, 33:43.980 --> 33:46.980 it's still a sin, you still shouldn't do it. 33:46.980 --> 33:49.660 And it's not like, oh, I'm waiting for the one I love. 33:49.660 --> 33:52.580 No, no, you're waiting for the one you're married to. 33:52.580 --> 33:53.900 I don't even care if you love him or not. 33:53.900 --> 33:55.800 You wait until you're married, all right? 33:56.000 --> 33:58.300 It's not about love, it's about marriage. 33:58.400 --> 34:00.440 It's about that bond, it's about that commitment. 34:00.540 --> 34:02.440 Now, of course, hopefully you marry someone you love, 34:02.540 --> 34:03.880 all right? Don't hear me wrong. 34:03.980 --> 34:07.180 But what I want to emphasize is it's not about love. 34:07.280 --> 34:09.080 It's about being married. 34:09.180 --> 34:11.980 It's about doing things within the boundaries of marriage. 34:12.080 --> 34:13.280 They're not married. 34:13.380 --> 34:15.660 And notice it says in verse 2, he defiled her. 34:15.760 --> 34:17.120 That's where it's sin. 34:17.220 --> 34:18.900 What they did was wrong. 34:19.000 --> 34:20.360 It's a defilement. 34:20.460 --> 34:22.160 And of course, there's a transgression here. 34:22.900 --> 34:25.940 Even though he loved her, he spaked kindly to her, 34:25.940 --> 34:29.380 they have a good relationship except for this sin. 34:29.380 --> 34:32.260 Verse four, in Sheikah, spaking his father Hamor, 34:32.260 --> 34:33.860 saying, get me this damned little wife. 34:34.700 --> 34:39.020 The guy's pretty honorable. I mean, even after doing this, he still wants to marry her. 34:39.020 --> 34:45.020 He's not at any attention not to marry her. He desires to have a good, proper relationship 34:45.020 --> 34:48.780 with this woman, even having commit the sin. And, you know, according to the Bible, 34:49.340 --> 34:53.260 this is actually the right thing to do. Keep your finger here. Go to Deuteronomy chapter 22 34:53.260 --> 34:56.620 for a moment. Go to Deuteronomy chapter 22. But, you know, the Bible teaches this, 34:56.620 --> 35:02.460 and it's not emphasized in our culture at all. However, he was trying his best to make it right, and trying to do the right thing here, and yet he ends up getting slain. 47:42.400 --> 47:44.900 and they say, oh, he's treating her like a harlot, 47:44.900 --> 47:47.880 which is kind of like a false accusation in my opinion. 47:47.880 --> 47:50.480 Now you could argue that there was still some level 47:50.480 --> 47:53.080 of harlotry involved and it was still fornication, 47:53.080 --> 47:56.120 it was still wrong, and they're just mad about it. 47:56.120 --> 47:58.800 But their anger is over the top. 47:59.000 --> 48:04.900 It's wrong. God punishes Levi and Simeon for what they did in this story. 48:04.900 --> 48:09.500 So God is not pleased with Simeon. God is not pleased with Levi for what they did. 48:09.500 --> 48:12.700 And what they did was wrong. It was contrary to the law even. 48:12.700 --> 48:18.300 Okay. So, you know, reading this story, there's a lot of good just carnal messages we can learn. 48:18.800 --> 48:23.940 I want to go to Proverbs chapter 7 and just continue to expand on this story though because 48:23.940 --> 48:28.200 the Bible tells us that the Old Testament was written for our admonition and that it's 48:28.200 --> 48:29.200 a spiritual book. 48:29.200 --> 48:33.300 So there's a spiritual layer here as well to this particular story. 48:33.300 --> 48:37.640 And you know, there's kind of like an overlap between the carnal and the spiritual. 48:38.200 --> 48:46.180 in the sense that men who are seeking fornication and seeking the strange woman, the Bible often 48:46.180 --> 48:52.600 warns that this lifestyle that's seeking these things can end in destruction physically and 48:52.600 --> 48:54.080 can lead to hell. 48:54.080 --> 48:58.560 Proverbs chapter 7, it says, let's just read several verses here. 48:59.000 --> 49:03.400 But it talks about a strange woman in verse 21 with her much fair speech. 49:03.400 --> 49:07.400 She caused him to yield with the flattering of her lips. 49:07.400 --> 49:08.800 She forced him. 49:08.800 --> 49:12.200 You know, we always want to talk about and people get mad about men forcing women. 49:12.200 --> 49:14.900 How about women forcing men? 49:14.900 --> 49:16.600 I mean, that's what the Bible says. 49:16.600 --> 49:18.900 Women forcing men in the Bible. 49:18.900 --> 49:21.800 And look, isn't this a trap? Isn't this dangerous? 49:21.800 --> 49:26.400 The Bible is saying that men getting around the wrong woman. 49:26.700 --> 49:33.500 and getting in the wrong environment could get to a place where she has so much control over him 49:33.500 --> 49:37.740 that she can force him. Now again, this is not physical. She did not physically force him. She's 49:37.740 --> 49:44.460 not super strong. What she is, is she's using the tools and the abilities that she has to seduce him 49:44.460 --> 49:49.500 and entice him to do something, regardless of how he feels about it, regardless of what he's thinking 49:49.500 --> 49:52.540 in the moment, she can entice him.
