WEBVTT

09:53.200 --> 09:57.440
Good morning everyone and welcome to Steadfast Baptist Church.

09:58.160 --> 10:03.680
It's great to see everybody here. If we could find our seats we will get started with this morning's service.

10:08.300 --> 10:10.580
It's great to see everybody here.

10:10.580 --> 10:16.820
Once we found our seats, let's go ahead and find a hymnal and turn to page number 12 or

10:16.820 --> 10:18.220
song number 12.

10:27.000 --> 10:29.000
Song number 12?

10:32.300 --> 10:35.780
Blessed Redeemer song number 12

10:36.560 --> 10:40.820
Let's all sing that out with all our might this morning song number 12 blessed Redeemer

10:55.000 --> 10:59.960
Racing for sinners, death on the cross

13:28.100 --> 13:30.100
Let's open up the service now with a word of prayer.

13:30.100 --> 13:33.100
Lord, we love you so much.

13:33.100 --> 13:38.100
We just thank you so much for this great day to serve you and be in your house and hear your word preached and sing unto you.

13:38.100 --> 13:42.100
Lord, we just ask that you fill us all with your Spirit and help us to sing out this morning.

13:42.100 --> 13:44.100
It's in Jesus' name that we pray. Amen.

13:44.100 --> 13:48.100
All right, our next song will be

13:48.100 --> 13:53.100
141.

13:55.700 --> 13:57.700
Four hundred and forty one.

14:03.400 --> 14:05.200
What am I place here?

14:07.500 --> 14:14.780
Great is thy faithfulness song number 441 let's all sing that out together.

14:14.780 --> 14:20.600
Great is thy faithfulness oh god

17:42.000 --> 17:44.200
Good morning, thank you so much for coming to Steadfast Baptist Church.

17:44.200 --> 17:46.200
We did not get a bulletin yet and you would like one.

17:46.200 --> 17:49.300
Just lift up your hand nice and high.

17:49.300 --> 17:54.120
And we are celebrating, actually it's our 12th year anniversary on August 30th.

17:54.120 --> 17:58.580
So congratulations to the church on celebrating 12 years.

17:58.580 --> 17:59.940
We actually have, yeah, there you go.

18:04.600 --> 18:09.480
I think we have four different member families that have eclipsed the 10-year mark.

18:09.480 --> 18:12.520
And we've ordered name plates for them and everything. We're going to be celebrating

18:12.520 --> 18:17.960
that next Sunday. So for those families that have reached that mark, congratulations to them. And

18:17.960 --> 18:24.440
again, like I said, we'll be celebrating them next Sunday. Also, if you make it to tonight

18:24.440 --> 18:29.880
and you've made it for the perfect attendance of August, you can get an ice cream gift card tonight.

18:29.880 --> 18:32.520
So you have to be here in attendance and we'll give those, we'll hand those out.

18:32.600 --> 18:36.520
tonight. On the inside is our service in soul winning times, church stats. On the

18:36.520 --> 18:41.480
right is a list of expecting ladies. We have upcoming events. Barbados missions

18:41.480 --> 18:45.560
trip is around the corner. We have a special guest, Pastor Matthew Stuckey,

18:45.560 --> 18:49.400
is gonna be preaching for us. Both services September 20th and we'll have a

18:49.400 --> 18:52.920
catered lunch. So highly encourage you to participate. If you'd like to bring a

18:52.920 --> 18:55.600
dessert to share, you're more than welcome, but you don't have to bring

18:55.600 --> 19:00.600
anything and we'll have lunch catered here at the church. Heritage of the Lord

19:00.600 --> 19:05.400
conference is October 9th to 11th. We have a mighty men's conference October 23rd through the 24th.

19:05.400 --> 19:10.200
So that's going to be a Friday evening and then Saturday activities. We have a faith word preaching

19:10.200 --> 19:15.240
boot camp November 12th through the 14th. We have the Shreveport Soul Winning Marathon. It's going

19:15.240 --> 19:19.960
to be brother Marcel is helping lead this and so if you have questions you can ask him about it.

19:19.960 --> 19:24.360
Philippines missions trip is in next year February 12th through the 20th.

19:24.360 --> 19:28.520
So if you'd like to participate you can uh we'd love for you to come out there.

19:28.600 --> 19:34.120
It'd probably be, you know, best guess is around $1,200, $1,500 probably per person

19:34.120 --> 19:36.800
to make that kind of a trip.

19:36.800 --> 19:40.380
Pretty much most of the cost is just the flight itself.

19:40.380 --> 19:45.360
So usually you can get really cheap housing or a room with some people and get pretty

19:45.360 --> 19:47.280
reasonable housing if you want that.

19:47.280 --> 19:48.880
The food's usually pretty cheap too.

19:48.880 --> 19:52.840
So honestly, it's a pretty inexpensive trip apart from the flight itself.

19:52.840 --> 19:54.840
So, and you can...

19:55.400 --> 19:59.560
find lots of different options. I think sometimes people get it under a thousand dollars, sometimes

19:59.560 --> 20:03.560
it's a thousand, twelve hundred, just kind of depends on your preferences for flying. So just

20:03.560 --> 20:07.240
give you an idea of what it'd be like to do yourself missions trip, but I think we're going

20:07.240 --> 20:11.640
to have a large crew going out there. We'll be doing a lot of soul winning going into schools.

20:11.640 --> 20:16.040
We'll also be visiting soul winning Baptist church with Pastor Stuckey. We'll be visiting

20:16.040 --> 20:21.400
steadfast Baptist church with our evangelist, Duncan Urbanek, I'm sorry. And so we're excited

20:21.400 --> 20:22.400
about that.

20:22.400 --> 20:23.400
On the back is our prayer.

20:23.400 --> 20:29.100
list and then on the inside we have a congratulations to June and May on the

20:29.100 --> 20:36.580
birth of their son John Caleb he was born on the 28th 1 p.m. 6 9 ounces 19

20:36.580 --> 20:38.900
and a half inches long congratulations to them

20:44.900 --> 20:47.500
That's pretty much all I have as far as announcements.

20:47.500 --> 20:50.540
We're going to go ahead and sing our Psalm of the Week.

20:50.540 --> 20:51.900
It's going to be Psalm 15.

21:01.900 --> 21:06.900
Alright, that was Psalm 15. You can find that in page 3 of your special song booklet.

21:06.900 --> 21:12.900
Psalm chapter 15 in your King James Bible, or page 3.

21:12.900 --> 21:15.900
Let's all sing that together.

21:15.900 --> 21:18.900
The Lord who shall abide...

24:18.000 --> 24:21.600
singing everybody now as the offering plates being passed around go and open

24:21.600 --> 24:26.900
your Bibles to the book of 1st Timothy chapter number 3 that's 1st Timothy

24:26.900 --> 24:28.500
chapter number 3

25:14.000 --> 25:17.500
1 Timothy 3, the Bible reads, this is a true saying,

25:17.500 --> 25:19.720
if a man desire the office of a bishop,

25:19.720 --> 25:21.760
he desireth a good work.

25:21.760 --> 25:25.040
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife,

25:25.040 --> 25:27.920
vigilant, sober of good behavior,

25:27.920 --> 25:30.840
given to hospitality, apt to teach.

25:30.840 --> 25:35.200
Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre,

25:35.200 --> 25:38.600
but patient, not a brawler, not covetous,

25:38.600 --> 25:41.000
one that ruleth well his own house,

25:41.000 --> 25:42.000
having his children in...

25:42.000 --> 25:47.800
subjection with all gravity. For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall

25:47.800 --> 25:53.360
he take care of the church of God? Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride, he fall into

25:53.360 --> 25:58.140
the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must have a good report of them which are

25:58.140 --> 26:01.980
without, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

26:02.400 --> 26:09.060
Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy

26:09.060 --> 26:13.560
lucre, holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

26:13.560 --> 26:18.680
And let these also first be proved, then let them use the office of the deacon, being found

26:18.680 --> 26:20.020
blameless.

26:20.020 --> 26:26.100
Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

26:26.100 --> 26:26.980
the deacons.

26:27.500 --> 26:32.620
be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their houses well.

26:32.620 --> 26:37.340
For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree

26:37.340 --> 26:42.700
and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. These things write I unto thee,

26:42.700 --> 26:48.060
hoping to come unto thee shortly. But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to

26:48.060 --> 26:53.900
behave thyself in the house of God which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

26:54.200 --> 26:57.720
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness.

26:57.720 --> 27:02.360
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels,

27:02.360 --> 27:07.240
preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

27:07.240 --> 27:09.080
Let's bow our heads for a word of prayer.

27:09.600 --> 27:14.040
Father, we thank you for this opportunity to be gathered together to hear the preaching

27:14.040 --> 27:15.040
of your Word.

27:15.040 --> 27:20.680
I pray that you bless the sermon and help Pastor Shelley to feed your flock through

27:20.680 --> 27:25.600
the power of the Holy Spirit and help us to listen, learn, and apply the sermon.

27:25.600 --> 27:28.200
I ask for these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

27:28.200 --> 27:29.200
Amen.

27:29.200 --> 27:30.320
Let's look back at verse 15.

27:30.320 --> 27:37.280
The Bible says, but if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave

27:37.280 --> 27:37.600
Bye.

27:37.600 --> 27:41.600
in the house of God, which is the church of the living God,

27:41.600 --> 27:43.600
the pillar and ground of the truth.

27:43.600 --> 27:46.600
So according to the Bible, there is a way to behave in church

27:46.600 --> 27:49.600
and there's a way to not behave in church.

27:49.600 --> 27:52.600
Of course, this is in a particular chapter dedicated

27:52.600 --> 27:55.600
to the qualifications of a bishop.

27:55.600 --> 27:58.600
But what I want to do is I want to focus in on this phrase

27:58.600 --> 28:01.600
of behaving in church, and that's the title of my sermon

28:01.600 --> 28:03.600
this morning is behaving in church.

28:03.600 --> 28:05.600
And I want us to all take application.

28:05.600 --> 28:09.600
from this. It's not just limited to one group, but it's all of us.

28:09.600 --> 28:14.600
And I want to first start with the men, as that's kind of the primary context of this

28:14.600 --> 28:20.600
particular chapter, is the qualifications of a bishop and how the pastor is to be an

28:20.600 --> 28:25.600
example to the other men in the church. It says here in verse number 1, this is a true

28:25.600 --> 28:30.600
saying, of a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireeth a good work. A bishop then must

28:30.600 --> 28:33.600
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife.

28:33.600 --> 28:37.400
vigilant, sober, of good behavior given to hospitality, apt to teach.

28:37.400 --> 28:43.700
Now notice that biblically speaking a church is to behave itself where their pastors are

28:43.700 --> 28:47.700
a man and the pastor is the husband of one wife.

28:47.700 --> 28:52.820
And so a church that does not have a male as their pastor, does not have a man as their

28:52.820 --> 28:54.720
pastor is not in good behavior.

28:55.100 --> 29:03.420
A church that has a man as their pastor that is not married or perhaps has been divorced

29:03.420 --> 29:08.460
and remarried or has multiple women in his life, this would be a pastor that's not in

29:08.460 --> 29:09.460
good behavior.

29:09.460 --> 29:12.580
We're not handling ourselves properly.

29:12.580 --> 29:15.060
And of course, this is a bad example for any man.

29:15.060 --> 29:19.320
You know, when we look at the qualifications of a bishop, what we must understand is that

29:19.320 --> 29:23.020
these are not special things for just this guy.

29:23.100 --> 29:25.100
This is what every man should be like.

29:26.300 --> 29:30.620
Every man should be like, I would say the one unique thing, specifically to this, is

29:30.620 --> 29:33.180
one that desires the office of a bishop.

29:33.180 --> 29:36.700
But you know, so not every man needs the desire to be a pastor.

29:36.700 --> 29:37.700
I don't believe that.

29:37.700 --> 29:40.720
I don't believe that God wants every single man to be a pastor.

29:40.720 --> 29:45.040
And so that is what's separating him from maybe other men.

29:45.040 --> 29:50.180
But in general, his qualifications, quote unquote, or what we look for in this particular

29:50.180 --> 29:54.300
individual is something we should find in every man that's aspiring to be married.

29:54.300 --> 29:59.060
married and have a family that basically this is the type of a guy that would be in charge.

29:59.060 --> 30:02.380
Of course we want a pastor that has a family.

30:02.380 --> 30:05.500
The Bible gives us instructions here in verse 4.

30:05.500 --> 30:09.900
One that rules well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity.

30:09.900 --> 30:13.700
For a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?

30:13.700 --> 30:16.520
Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall in the condemnation of the devil.

30:16.520 --> 30:19.500
So he must have a wife according to the Bible.

30:19.500 --> 30:22.300
Additionally, he has children and he has a family.

30:22.300 --> 30:26.100
He has rules for his family and they're following his rules.

30:26.100 --> 30:27.100
That makes sense.

30:27.100 --> 30:30.860
It makes sense that you would have a guy that's married, a guy that has children, and he's

30:30.860 --> 30:33.220
enforcing rules on his own family.

30:33.220 --> 30:37.220
Otherwise, how is he going to be able to enforce rules on a church?

30:37.220 --> 30:41.660
And of course, part of the job of a pastor is not solely just to preach the Bible, but

30:41.660 --> 30:42.900
it's to enforce rules.

30:42.900 --> 30:48.260
And it's to sometimes have church discipline and sometimes have to counsel people and have

30:48.260 --> 30:50.260
to basically...

30:50.300 --> 30:54.580
Make sure everything is running smoothly, everything is running correctly.

30:54.580 --> 31:00.660
Of course, a family is an important institution, but church is a much more important institution.

31:00.660 --> 31:03.940
And so it's saying if you can't even take care of that which is less, how could you

31:03.940 --> 31:06.300
then take care of that which is more important?

31:06.300 --> 31:08.500
And so he is following these rules.

31:08.500 --> 31:14.020
So as a man, what would be how we should be behaving ourselves in church is we should

31:14.020 --> 31:15.020
have one wife.

31:15.300 --> 31:21.160
Men in our churches have one wife. You know, we don't want to have a church where everybody's swapping wives. Everybody's getting divorced

31:21.840 --> 31:25.280
People are not getting married and they're just committing open fornication

31:25.720 --> 31:30.440
You know what men to just have a wife and if you have a wife and you have children

31:30.760 --> 31:35.680
that you have rules for your family and that your children are submitting themselves and

31:35.740 --> 31:41.840
Subjecting themselves to the rules of the father and that the father is basically taking care of his whole family

31:42.100 --> 31:44.540
You know, it's not just taking care of himself.

31:44.540 --> 31:48.540
It's much easier to be single because you only have to take care of yourself.

31:48.900 --> 31:55.000
Having a wife or having a children now you're forced in a sense to take care of other individuals

31:55.180 --> 31:56.340
And you want to do a good job

31:56.340 --> 32:01.880
You want to make sure that you're doing a good job taking care of not only yourself, but taking care of other people in your family

32:02.380 --> 32:09.040
Considering them having good rules for them and of course, you know, it's difficult to manage people

32:09.040 --> 32:13.480
I mean, I think anybody that in this world has had to had a management position or

32:13.860 --> 32:16.840
Leadership role where they're telling other people what to do you find?

32:16.900 --> 32:21.160
out very quickly that it can be challenging. There's a lot of challenges to ruling over

32:21.160 --> 32:27.080
people, to managing people, because people are people. And at the end of the day, that's

32:27.080 --> 32:29.620
why it's important for you to be a good example.

32:29.900 --> 32:33.100
It's important for you to take your own life seriously,

32:33.100 --> 32:34.600
to take care of yourself,

32:34.600 --> 32:36.800
so that you can take care of the others around you.

32:36.800 --> 32:39.300
It's like the analogy on the airplane,

32:39.300 --> 32:41.400
you have to first put the mask on yourself

32:41.400 --> 32:43.400
before you can mask others.

32:43.400 --> 32:46.300
And in the same way, it's like, hey, as a man,

32:46.300 --> 32:48.500
sometimes you have to make sure you're taking care of yourself

32:48.500 --> 32:50.400
so that you can then accurately,

32:50.400 --> 32:52.900
or accurately and appropriately,

32:52.900 --> 32:55.200
take care of your own wife and your own children.

32:55.600 --> 32:59.560
So there's a lot of things being unpacked in this particular passage.

32:59.560 --> 33:03.240
Of course, as men, we shouldn't be strikers, we shouldn't be greedy or filthy lucre, we

33:03.240 --> 33:06.440
should be patient, we shouldn't be brawlers, we shouldn't be covetous.

33:06.440 --> 33:10.600
I mean, all these things aren't like, well, the pastor's like that, but I just get in

33:10.600 --> 33:13.640
fights and beat people up and I just want to get rich.

33:13.640 --> 33:16.960
You know, it's just like, you know, and I want to get rich or die trying, you know,

33:16.960 --> 33:21.200
it's just like, just full of greed and just full of covetousness, you know, this should

33:21.200 --> 33:23.600
be just the attitude and the disposition.

33:23.600 --> 33:29.720
of many men. And you know, I personally believe that ideally we should have many men in our

33:29.720 --> 33:34.600
church that meet the qualifications of a pastor, but just don't want to be a pastor. And that's

33:34.600 --> 33:39.260
okay. Like there's nothing wrong. Like we could find men and say, Hey, technically here's

33:39.260 --> 33:44.800
a guy who, Hey, he's saved. You've been saved a long time. He knows the Bible well. He has

33:44.800 --> 33:50.220
a wife, one wife. They have a good marriage here. He has great children, but you know,

33:50.220 --> 33:51.580
Please content just serving.

33:51.600 --> 33:53.920
God and whatever capacity he has.

33:53.920 --> 33:56.300
He doesn't desire to be a pastor necessarily.

33:56.300 --> 33:58.220
He doesn't want to have to take that role.

33:58.220 --> 33:59.220
That's great.

33:59.220 --> 34:02.500
You know, it's not like every single guy that meets the qualifications, we just put him

34:02.500 --> 34:06.100
in behind a pulpit or we just need to make him a pastor somewhere.

34:06.100 --> 34:09.780
And you know, I don't even personally believe like, hey, if you're a pastor, you're just

34:09.780 --> 34:15.420
a much better Christian than another guy, even though they're the same on the qualifications

34:15.420 --> 34:16.740
or the same in their life.

34:16.740 --> 34:19.580
I mean, you know, when you get to heaven, it's not just like, hey,

34:19.600 --> 34:23.000
here's the pastor's category and here's the non-pastor's category.

34:23.000 --> 34:28.760
You know, a guy that's a dedicated soul winner and going to church and serving God, I guarantee

34:28.760 --> 34:33.600
he's going to have much better rewards in heaven than a pastor who did nothing, was

34:33.600 --> 34:37.000
not very evangelistic, not accomplishing much.

34:37.000 --> 34:41.520
I don't believe that just being pastor just gives you some special privilege or special

34:41.520 --> 34:42.520
honor.

34:42.520 --> 34:47.040
So you know, don't think like, you know, children, don't think like, hey, my dad's not a pastor,

34:47.040 --> 34:47.600
So he's not as.

34:47.600 --> 34:50.640
spirituals the pastor, that's not the right outlook.

34:50.640 --> 34:55.200
You know, your dad can be very spiritual whether he's a pastor or not.

34:55.700 --> 35:00.900
And so we want to have the right mindset though as a church that the men are behaving themselves.

35:00.900 --> 35:08.400
And even if you're not a pastor, and even though you may violate these things and you don't lose your job because you're not a pastor,

35:08.400 --> 35:11.500
that doesn't mean you should just forego these instructions.

35:11.500 --> 35:14.500
You should treat these as, hey, these are rules for me too.

35:14.500 --> 35:19.800
And you know what? Even if I'm not a pastor, I just want to do my best to act like I am a pastor

35:19.800 --> 35:23.700
and try to do what a pastor would do too and just follow these same kind of instructions.

35:23.700 --> 35:25.700
because they're all good instructions anyways.

35:26.400 --> 35:30.400
You know, we want a church filled with men that sound like this.

35:30.400 --> 35:32.900
We want a church filled with men where they're saying,

35:32.900 --> 35:36.400
hey, these are guys that have one wife, these are guys that have children,

35:36.400 --> 35:41.400
their children are obeying them, their children are, you know, in subjection,

35:41.400 --> 35:46.400
this guy has rules for his family, this guy is patient, this guy is not a brawler,

35:46.400 --> 35:49.400
this guy is someone that's not greedy or filthy lucre, you know,

35:49.400 --> 35:52.400
this guy is someone that's taking the ministry seriously.

35:52.400 --> 35:54.400
You know, this is basically what, you know,

35:54.400 --> 35:58.000
we should be as a church. This is how men should be in the church. We want to behave

35:58.000 --> 36:01.560
ourselves in church. And you'll notice the apostle Paul is saying, hey, I wrote all this

36:01.560 --> 36:06.120
stuff unto you so you guys would know how church should operate, what church should

36:06.120 --> 36:11.280
look like, what should it be like. This is what we should be describing. And then he

36:11.280 --> 36:17.040
gives a secondary office here, deacons. He says, likewise must the deacons be grave,

36:17.040 --> 36:18.120
grave meaning serious.

36:18.800 --> 36:23.000
And when it says likewise, it's saying in the same way.

36:23.000 --> 36:25.840
So it's like everything we just said about the pastor,

36:25.840 --> 36:27.340
the deacon needs to be the same way.

36:28.000 --> 36:30.400
and he needs to take his life serious too.

36:30.400 --> 36:33.000
Okay, and again, a deacon is pretty much,

36:33.000 --> 36:35.600
if we were to think about the word deacon,

36:35.600 --> 36:37.300
it's kind of like servant,

36:37.300 --> 36:38.900
is kind of like what we would think of,

36:38.900 --> 36:40.500
is what that word is meaning.

36:40.500 --> 36:42.900
So as someone that's like a servant of the church.

36:42.900 --> 36:44.500
A lot of people take deacon

36:44.500 --> 36:47.200
and they kind of elevate it to a position of authority.

36:47.300 --> 36:51.220
in the sense that like this guy is like in charge of the church or this guy is

36:51.220 --> 36:54.260
ruling over the church or this guy's ruling over the pastor

36:54.260 --> 36:57.620
whereas the Bible is more painting this guy's serving the church

36:57.620 --> 37:00.740
and ministering to the church it's a different idea

37:00.740 --> 37:04.020
I'm not saying that the deacon doesn't have some level of authority

37:04.020 --> 37:07.340
but that's not really the primary focus of this person's role

37:07.340 --> 37:12.020
this person is someone serving in the church and it says not double-tongued

37:12.020 --> 37:15.260
not given a much wine not greedy filthy

37:15.300 --> 37:19.700
Luke are holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience and let these also first

37:19.700 --> 37:25.220
be proved then let them use the office of a deacon being found blameless even so must

37:25.220 --> 37:29.300
their wives be grave not slander or sober faithful in all things let the deacons be

37:29.300 --> 37:32.420
the husbands of one wife ruling their children their own house as well for they that have

37:32.420 --> 37:36.020
used the office of a deacon well purchase themselves a good degree and great bolus in

37:36.020 --> 37:41.820
the faith faith which is in christ jesus so notice again he doesn't explicitly mention

37:41.820 --> 37:42.460
the wife?

37:43.000 --> 37:45.960
in the pastoral section, like what she's like,

37:45.960 --> 37:48.200
but it does specifically in the deacons.

37:48.200 --> 37:51.040
And if the deacon is supposed to have a wife like this,

37:51.040 --> 37:53.340
how much more would the pastor in the same way?

37:53.340 --> 37:54.180
Okay.

37:54.180 --> 37:57.280
And so obviously the deacons also, according to the Bible,

37:57.280 --> 38:00.220
kind of have to meet all of these qualifications

38:00.220 --> 38:01.960
prior to even becoming a deacon.

38:01.960 --> 38:05.680
It's not like, hey, you know, you just finally...

38:05.900 --> 38:09.500
Clip the mark you just now met the qualification. So now you're deacon

38:09.500 --> 38:13.080
It's like no you have to meet the qualifications for a while and be proved you have to be tested

38:13.080 --> 38:17.100
We have to make sure this guy is a legit guy before we give him

38:17.200 --> 38:21.220
You know position in a church to be serving and of course, you know

38:21.300 --> 38:24.800
The deacon is someone that's going to be serving the church

38:25.380 --> 38:29.160
Helping the church, you know, just the daily functions of the church

38:29.460 --> 38:33.460
Just whatever is in relation to the church helping the church do church things

38:33.900 --> 38:39.540
And so, of course, if we ever had a deacon, you know, on staff, then we would want them

38:39.540 --> 38:40.740
to be paid.

38:40.740 --> 38:46.940
We would want them to have been a part of the church for a while, have proven themselves,

38:46.940 --> 38:50.020
have met, you know, this kind of a standard here.

38:50.020 --> 38:55.500
Now, things that I don't think necessarily overlap, I don't think the deacon has to be

38:55.500 --> 38:57.180
someone that's at the cheech.

38:57.180 --> 39:00.940
I don't think the deacon has to be someone that desires the office of a bishop.

39:00.940 --> 39:01.900
You know, there could be some.

39:01.900 --> 39:03.900
I don't really want to preach.

39:03.900 --> 39:05.900
I don't really want to fill the pulpit.

39:05.900 --> 39:07.900
I don't really want to pastor.

39:07.900 --> 39:09.900
I don't really want to do those things.

39:09.900 --> 39:11.900
But you know what?

39:11.900 --> 39:13.900
I just love church.

39:13.900 --> 39:15.900
I just love the gospel.

39:15.900 --> 39:17.900
I love church.

39:17.900 --> 39:19.900
And I just want to serve in that capacity.

39:19.900 --> 39:21.900
And so, you know, hey, we could have somebody

39:21.900 --> 39:23.900
that's like that and we elevate them to a deacon.

39:23.900 --> 39:25.900
And you know what?

39:25.900 --> 39:27.900
A church is growing or has a large size.

39:27.900 --> 39:29.900
It makes sense to have a deacon or more than one deacon potential.

39:29.900 --> 39:33.900
just so that the pastor can focus on his giftings

39:33.900 --> 39:35.340
and what he's supposed to be doing,

39:35.340 --> 39:37.660
and then the deacons can help just make sure

39:37.660 --> 39:40.460
other things are going well in the church.

39:40.460 --> 39:43.300
You know, we have a title in our modern idea,

39:43.300 --> 39:46.020
or modern vernacular, of like an assistant pastor,

39:46.020 --> 39:48.060
and in many cases, I almost feel like many times

39:48.060 --> 39:49.540
assistant pastor is kind of what we see

39:49.540 --> 39:51.540
as a role of a deacon, where, you know,

39:51.540 --> 39:55.860
they're simply just assisting in the duties of the church

39:55.860 --> 39:57.820
and other things, so.

39:57.900 --> 40:01.400
These are two official roles in the Bible.

40:01.400 --> 40:03.540
This is how a church should behave itself.

40:03.540 --> 40:05.820
It should have pastors and deacons that are men,

40:05.820 --> 40:08.780
that are married, that have one wife,

40:08.780 --> 40:12.680
that are having children, that are obeying them,

40:12.680 --> 40:13.900
that are in subjection.

40:14.300 --> 40:16.980
And of course they're found blameless in general.

40:16.980 --> 40:19.300
Again, blameless here is not perfect.

40:19.300 --> 40:22.020
No one would qualify, obviously.

40:22.020 --> 40:25.060
But I've heard what some people will do is they'll take this word blameless

40:25.060 --> 40:26.700
and they'll say, well, see.

40:26.900 --> 40:29.700
Since it's blameless, no one qualifies,

40:29.800 --> 40:32.100
so then they just ignore all the qualifications.

40:32.200 --> 40:33.800
So it's just like, well, if we had

40:33.900 --> 40:36.540
to meet all the qualifications, then no one would qualify.

40:36.640 --> 40:39.340
So then they just like, it doesn't matter that he's divorced.

40:39.440 --> 40:41.280
It doesn't matter that they don't have kids.

40:41.380 --> 40:44.220
It doesn't matter that he's not even safe.

40:44.320 --> 40:45.380
It's just whatever.

40:45.480 --> 40:48.320
It's just like, it doesn't matter that he's a drunkard.

40:48.420 --> 40:50.320
It doesn't matter that he's a convict.

40:50.420 --> 40:52.460
It doesn't matter that he murdered his father.

40:52.560 --> 40:53.560
It doesn't matter.

40:53.660 --> 40:54.860
And some of these things sound like I'm

40:54.900 --> 40:57.700
They're not even hyperbole at all, okay?

40:57.700 --> 41:01.540
And so it doesn't matter that the guy got thrown out of his last church for being a

41:01.540 --> 41:05.300
drunkard, let's have him start Second Chance Church.

41:05.300 --> 41:06.680
Okay?

41:06.680 --> 41:09.980
This is the guy from New Spring.

41:09.980 --> 41:14.540
He like got kicked out of his church for being a drunkard, some kind of evangelical, and

41:14.540 --> 41:17.860
then he started a second church called Second Chance Church.

41:17.860 --> 41:19.700
Who knows what I'm talking about?

41:19.700 --> 41:20.700
I don't know.

41:20.700 --> 41:21.700
I'm trying to remember this.

41:21.700 --> 41:22.500
What's the guy's name?

41:23.100 --> 41:27.360
Dang it. I'm trying to remember this guy's name. All right, I'll think of it after the service

41:27.360 --> 41:31.640
He like started one of his church services one time with a highway to hell or something like that

41:32.780 --> 41:37.140
So like further their first song for the church service. It was like highway to hell

41:37.700 --> 41:39.700
Some weirdo or whatever.

41:39.700 --> 41:41.900
But it's just funny, it's like, you know, Greg Locke,

41:41.900 --> 41:44.820
he divorces his wife, runs off with the secretary,

41:44.820 --> 41:46.380
you know, and then starts another church,

41:46.380 --> 41:47.820
starts another ministry.

41:47.820 --> 41:50.420
You know, these type of things just shouldn't even be done.

41:50.420 --> 41:52.260
It's not behaving yourself in church, you know.

41:52.260 --> 41:54.340
It's not the correct behavior.

41:54.340 --> 41:57.820
And then of course, if the pastor is divorcing his wife

41:57.820 --> 41:59.460
and running off with the secretary,

41:59.460 --> 42:01.140
what kind of signal is that gonna be

42:01.140 --> 42:02.780
to the rest of the men in the church?

42:02.780 --> 42:02.800
you

42:03.700 --> 42:11.440
And isn't that going to almost green light other men to potentially excuse that type of behavior or act in a certain way?

42:11.440 --> 42:15.800
You know, we should have some standards. We should have some example.

42:15.800 --> 42:20.160
And again, I think when we say blameless, I'm not saying it doesn't mean something.

42:20.160 --> 42:22.300
I just don't think it means perfect, obviously.

42:22.300 --> 42:27.560
But it's also not going to just contradict anything we just read that's clear, plain qualifications.

42:27.560 --> 42:31.640
I think that the blameless would just be in general that this guy doesn't have just some real...

42:31.700 --> 42:33.300
obvious big issue.

42:33.600 --> 42:35.900
You know, some big, obvious public issue.

42:35.900 --> 42:37.700
Like he murdered his father.

42:37.700 --> 42:42.200
You know, like I would say, hey, it kind of seems like he's probably not blameless, right?

42:42.200 --> 42:47.500
If they were caught in some big public scandal, or they have some big public issue,

42:47.500 --> 42:51.700
or they're just some major thing that everybody has kind of seen,

42:51.700 --> 42:55.200
it would just be shameful to just take somebody that is like,

42:55.200 --> 42:59.700
why are we having this guy be the pastor when he has this really obvious big issue?

42:59.700 --> 43:01.500
There's this big sin, you know.

43:01.600 --> 43:04.800
And again, I'm not saying like, let's cover him up or hide him, but I'm just saying in

43:04.800 --> 43:08.120
general this guy's got a bad reputation publicly.

43:08.120 --> 43:12.680
And now, it's not that after he becomes pastor and preaches hard against the sodomites and

43:12.680 --> 43:15.360
gets evicted, he's now not blameless or something.

43:15.360 --> 43:19.400
What we're talking about is prior to being a pastor and nothing associated with the Word

43:19.400 --> 43:20.720
of God or persecution.

43:20.720 --> 43:25.520
Just something that in the world's eyes, they would be upset about whether you're a pastor

43:25.520 --> 43:26.520
or not.

43:26.520 --> 43:28.760
You know, something where they would say, hey, this is something that's just kind of

43:28.760 --> 43:29.520
a big obvious-

43:29.600 --> 43:34.520
issue and we just we don't want that guy to be the quote pastor. So you know you

43:34.520 --> 43:38.900
should go to a church that fits the subscription so that you also will then

43:38.900 --> 43:44.000
behave yourself likewise. So you have a good behavior. Of course there's many

43:44.100 --> 43:50.420
many churches and many people where the pastor just doesn't have kids or is divorced or you know

43:51.220 --> 43:55.540
all these weird scenarios and some people will say like well that's your interpretation that's

43:55.540 --> 44:00.740
your opinion but you know what I noticed I never noticed those guys being the great leaders of

44:00.740 --> 44:06.100
the spiritual condition of our country they never seem to be the evangelistic leaders typically

44:06.100 --> 44:11.380
I mean they're usually the ones that are kind of bozos have other issues other compromising situations

44:11.380 --> 44:12.040
And so, you know...

44:12.100 --> 44:17.960
what I think you should have a decent standard here and I get that our culture is so wicked

44:17.960 --> 44:23.100
and so evil that it's hard to find people that meet these like qualifications but honestly

44:23.100 --> 44:27.660
it should be like a large percentage of the men in society.

44:27.660 --> 44:32.380
It's not like it's that hard or that crazy to think that there could be men that have

44:32.380 --> 44:39.060
only had one wife and men that don't have like some criminal record or something.

44:39.600 --> 44:44.600
or men that, you know, I guess in some communities that's like crazy to think about, okay?

44:44.600 --> 44:48.600
But it shouldn't be crazy to think that men have some criminal record,

44:48.600 --> 44:51.600
they just have one wife and they have some kids and they obey them.

44:51.600 --> 44:54.100
Like, that should just be like a basic standard.

44:54.600 --> 44:56.100
You know, it's just kind of crazy.

44:56.100 --> 44:59.720
It'd be like thinking like, oh, Walmart has a high standard saying you have to have shoes

44:59.720 --> 45:01.800
and a shirt on when you go inside or something.

45:01.800 --> 45:04.880
It's just like, this isn't a crazy standard, folks.

45:04.880 --> 45:05.880
Okay?

45:05.880 --> 45:07.580
But we should have at least some standard.

45:07.580 --> 45:10.200
We should have like at least some idea here.

45:10.200 --> 45:15.000
And of course, the fact that the pastor can teach well, why do we want boring, crappy

45:15.000 --> 45:16.000
preachers anyways?

45:16.000 --> 45:17.000
You know?

45:17.000 --> 45:19.060
Like, I mean, do you really want that?

45:19.060 --> 45:21.120
I mean, I've listened to some people and I'm just thinking like...

45:21.120 --> 45:21.500
like.

45:21.600 --> 45:24.800
I don't even understand how anybody could say you're at the teach.

45:24.800 --> 45:25.800
Yeah.

45:25.800 --> 45:29.600
Like you're one of the most boring people I've ever had to listen to in my entire life.

45:29.600 --> 45:31.000
You don't make any sense.

45:31.000 --> 45:33.200
You're not good at articulating things.

45:33.200 --> 45:35.200
Like, oh, but your dad ordained you.

45:35.200 --> 45:37.000
And it's just like, yeah, of course, you know.

45:37.000 --> 45:40.800
It's like, hey, we shouldn't just ordain people because they're the son of a pastor.

45:40.800 --> 45:42.200
You should be at the teach.

45:43.200 --> 45:49.140
And I'll be honest with you, over time, I've kind of given more emphasis to this point

45:49.140 --> 45:54.060
than in the past, where I've realized, like, hey, this is not a point that I'm going to

45:54.060 --> 45:56.400
be more gracious on anymore.

45:56.400 --> 46:01.160
Like if you're not a great preacher, like, I just don't want to ordain you anymore, okay?

46:01.160 --> 46:06.720
You could be a great guy, great evangelist, you could be someone that I look up to, you

46:06.720 --> 46:10.440
could be someone I really like, but if you're not just knocking out of the park, buying

46:10.440 --> 46:11.040
the pulpit.

46:11.200 --> 46:12.600
I'm just not going to ordain people.

46:12.600 --> 46:16.440
You know, and again, I just, for me, it's just too important.

46:16.440 --> 46:19.500
And you know, we don't need another boring preacher anyways,

46:19.500 --> 46:22.000
or someone that can't articulate themselves well.

46:22.000 --> 46:23.520
Let's go to Titus chapter number two,

46:23.520 --> 46:25.780
go to Titus chapter number two.

46:25.780 --> 46:26.880
Say, well, I want to be a pastor.

46:26.880 --> 46:29.000
Okay, well then learn how to preach well.

46:29.000 --> 46:31.720
Read the Bible a lot, study scripture a lot,

46:31.720 --> 46:34.440
memorize a lot of scripture, take,

46:34.440 --> 46:36.760
take toast master classes, I don't know.

46:36.760 --> 46:38.600
Learn how to speak well though.

46:41.300 --> 46:43.900
You should be able to capture people's attention.

46:43.900 --> 46:46.100
And you don't have to preach just like me.

46:46.100 --> 46:47.900
There's tons of different styles,

46:47.900 --> 46:49.200
and there's tons of different ways

46:49.200 --> 46:51.500
that people can be engaging while preaching.

46:51.500 --> 46:53.800
You don't even have to yell or scream to be engaging.

46:53.800 --> 46:56.400
But if you're not engaging, then what's the point?

46:56.600 --> 46:58.200
No one's going to listen.

46:58.200 --> 47:00.600
We want somebody that can articulate themselves.

47:00.600 --> 47:04.120
And not in this fake way that the old I.B. does.

47:04.120 --> 47:07.920
And I feel like it's almost like only old I.B. preachers that are like this.

47:07.920 --> 47:13.400
Maybe Pentecostals a little bit too, but just that like fake over the top, just like, praise

47:13.400 --> 47:14.400
the Lord!

47:14.400 --> 47:17.200
You know, just like, what are you doing, dude?

47:17.200 --> 47:19.080
Like they have a preacher voice or something.

47:19.700 --> 47:24.740
And I'm just thinking like that's weird or I've seen some guys where they they when they get mad

47:25.060 --> 47:28.380
It's just like totally out of character. It doesn't seem real at all

47:28.940 --> 47:33.580
It was like it was like were you mad or is this fake or like what is it like like?

47:34.780 --> 47:41.780
You're just like what are you doing, bro? Like you're trying too hard. You know if you get if you get mad while preaching thumbs up

47:42.200 --> 47:45.800
If you have to pretend like you're mad, thumbs down, okay?

47:45.800 --> 47:50.800
It's awkward, you can feel the energy, it's uncomfortable.

47:50.800 --> 47:55.600
So, you know, don't try to be dynamic when it's not real.

47:55.600 --> 47:59.400
I hate that, it's fake, it's just like bad acting.

47:59.400 --> 48:03.400
It's like watching one of these Christian movies or something like that.

48:03.400 --> 48:06.400
You know, it's like, why do we know that Christian movies are Christian movies

48:06.400 --> 48:07.800
and real ones are real ones?

48:07.800 --> 48:09.600
It's because of the bad acting.

48:10.000 --> 48:14.160
Okay, and again, don't be a bad actor behind the pulpit.

48:14.160 --> 48:16.120
I like somebody that's energetic.

48:16.120 --> 48:17.760
I like someone yelling and screaming.

48:17.760 --> 48:19.000
I like someone getting excited.

48:19.000 --> 48:21.120
I like that, but I like it when it's real.

48:21.700 --> 48:23.900
And if you're not like that, then don't be like that.

48:23.900 --> 48:24.600
Okay?

48:24.600 --> 48:28.500
But definitely don't be fake because you really can't convince anyone.

48:28.500 --> 48:29.500
I'm sorry.

48:29.500 --> 48:31.200
Titus chapter 2, look at verse 1.

48:31.200 --> 48:33.200
But speak the other things that become sound doctrine,

48:33.200 --> 48:36.900
that the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, and charity, and patience.

48:36.900 --> 48:41.000
Now, Titus chapter 2, let's get the big picture for a second.

48:41.000 --> 48:42.900
This is the Apostle Paul.

48:43.400 --> 48:48.040
telling Titus, a pastor, what he's supposed to do.

48:48.040 --> 48:49.400
What is he supposed to do?

48:49.400 --> 48:50.800
He is supposed to speak.

48:51.000 --> 48:53.760
So we have somebody speaking in this particular chapter.

48:53.760 --> 48:54.760
It's Titus.

48:54.760 --> 48:56.320
Titus is the one speaking.

48:56.320 --> 48:57.960
Titus is the one preaching.

48:57.960 --> 48:59.680
Titus is the one instructing.

48:59.680 --> 49:00.680
And who is he instructing?

49:00.680 --> 49:05.000
He's instructing older men, or aged men, as the Bible describes it here, that they are

49:05.000 --> 49:06.000
what?

49:06.000 --> 49:09.480
Sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

49:09.480 --> 49:13.640
And notice he says, speak things which become sound doctrine.

49:13.640 --> 49:14.320
I think that...

49:14.700 --> 49:20.160
Obviously, we want to make sure that everything that is spoken behind the pulpit is accurate

49:20.160 --> 49:22.240
according to the Bible and is what the Bible says.

49:22.600 --> 49:30.100
But additionally, any applications that are driven by the text or decided by the text

49:30.100 --> 49:32.440
should make sure it's based on the text.

49:32.440 --> 49:38.300
You know, don't get up and give your application based on nothing, based on whims, or forgetting

49:38.300 --> 49:42.120
that it's actually even contradicting clear scripture in the Bible.

49:42.120 --> 49:47.320
And unfortunately, what you'll see is sometimes men, they think something sounds good or sounds

49:47.320 --> 49:50.560
right and maybe it's something the world even repeats.

49:50.600 --> 49:54.160
And so they'll preach by their pulpit, but they didn't think like, is this what the Bible

49:54.160 --> 49:55.160
says?

49:55.160 --> 49:57.840
Or is there a Bible verse that actually supports this idea?

49:57.840 --> 50:00.840
Or is there Bible verses that say the opposite of this?

50:00.840 --> 50:05.000
And so what he's trying to tell the pastor here is make sure that the things you're saying

50:05.000 --> 50:11.940
fit the biblical narrative, fit biblical principles, are not just your ideas or the world's ideas

50:11.940 --> 50:15.080
or contrary specifically to what the Bible says.

50:16.100 --> 50:23.220
Now, I think as a pastor, you have the liberty to give application within the biblical principles

50:23.220 --> 50:27.780
that I think we should. That's what preaching is. We can't just sit up here. We're not going to

50:27.780 --> 50:29.620
just get up and just read the Bible and walk home.

50:30.200 --> 50:32.200
I think we should give a sense of the reading.

50:32.200 --> 50:34.400
I think that is the point of the Bible.

50:34.400 --> 50:36.900
Obviously, there's principles in the Bible

50:36.900 --> 50:39.000
that do not apply to us directly,

50:39.000 --> 50:41.200
and then we have to derive meaning from them.

50:41.200 --> 50:43.700
You know, when it talks about Old Testament laws

50:43.700 --> 50:45.200
and Old Testament principles,

50:45.200 --> 50:48.600
sometimes we don't really necessarily have an ass and a donkey,

50:48.600 --> 50:50.500
and we don't have these type of things,

50:50.500 --> 50:53.900
and so we have to then take that and apply it to what we have.

50:53.900 --> 50:55.700
We have cars, and we have vehicles,

50:55.700 --> 50:57.700
and we have houses and different things.

50:57.700 --> 50:58.200
So it's like.

50:58.200 --> 51:03.040
Hey, someone kills someone through negligence of their animal

51:03.040 --> 51:04.280
could be then applied to,

51:04.280 --> 51:06.200
okay, how about negligence with your car?

51:06.300 --> 51:08.740
You know, that could be a similar parallel.

51:08.740 --> 51:10.220
And so we're expounding on that.

51:10.220 --> 51:11.440
We're giving a sense of the reading.

51:11.440 --> 51:13.480
We're trying to explain what the reading is saying.

51:13.480 --> 51:17.660
But what I do not believe the Bible is saying is that pastors should get up and give TED

51:17.660 --> 51:22.360
talks and just get up and give their personal opinion on every subject and matter, not based

51:22.360 --> 51:26.680
on any biblical principles, or specifically if they're against biblical principles.

51:26.680 --> 51:31.260
And so it's important for the pastor to get up and expound things and give the sense of

51:31.260 --> 51:34.180
the reading and make sure everything he's saying is sound doctrine.

51:34.180 --> 51:34.300
it.

51:34.300 --> 51:39.260
fits what the Bible is actually saying and so that what the older men can be

51:39.260 --> 51:45.860
sober. What is that serious? We want the older men in church to be serious. Take

51:45.860 --> 51:48.800
your life seriously as an older man.

51:48.900 --> 51:55.060
And, you know, this would be an example to me of age of men not being serious,

51:55.060 --> 52:01.580
is when you see pastors in America that are 40, 50, 60 years old,

52:01.580 --> 52:04.580
and they're wearing skinny jeans and a t-shirt behind the pulpit.

52:04.580 --> 52:05.740
Wow.

52:05.740 --> 52:08.900
Wouldn't you say, like, wouldn't you just almost automatically be like,

52:08.900 --> 52:10.620
this guy's not serious?

52:10.620 --> 52:13.020
Or I'm not going to take this guy seriously.

52:13.400 --> 52:16.200
Like, I mean, I don't even think you, I haven't even explained this point.

52:16.200 --> 52:17.720
You probably already agreed with me.

52:17.720 --> 52:21.280
But then if you automatically just think like, this guy is somebody I'm not going to take

52:21.280 --> 52:26.080
seriously, then wouldn't you think that other men should follow like example, whether you're

52:26.080 --> 52:31.680
a pastor or not, and that maybe the age of men should consider dressing seriously?

52:31.680 --> 52:35.120
You know, I don't necessarily expect all the single guys to dress that great.

52:35.120 --> 52:36.560
I mean, they don't have their wives to help them.

52:36.560 --> 52:38.160
All right, I get it.

52:38.160 --> 52:39.280
But at the end of the day...

52:39.700 --> 52:46.340
Maybe you could dress it a way that's serious and again does the Bible say thou shalt wear a suit and tie

52:46.460 --> 52:48.160
No, it doesn't say that at all

52:48.160 --> 52:51.380
But you know what you know if I bet if you're gonna go for an interview

52:51.620 --> 52:54.780
You'd probably dress a certain way because you were taking the interview

52:55.300 --> 53:00.700
Seriously, you know if I have an interview or a job, and I just come in and just you know my pajamas

53:00.820 --> 53:05.860
They're gonna say hey this guy's not taking this job this job application seriously

53:06.300 --> 53:10.140
Okay, I don't want to take the house of God as something is not serious.

53:10.140 --> 53:14.860
So you know what, I try to dress in a way that seems like, hey, I'm taking church seriously.

53:14.860 --> 53:18.940
Okay, I don't think that it means you have to wear a certain type of clothing.

53:18.940 --> 53:21.500
I'm not saying, and I'm not going to get up here and say,

53:21.500 --> 53:24.620
thou shalt wear this type of clothing, because I don't believe that.

53:24.620 --> 53:28.700
But what I do believe is that if you're going to follow this example, you should be serious.

53:29.340 --> 53:31.660
And maybe you should take church seriously.

53:31.660 --> 53:33.420
And one of those ways would be how you dress.

53:34.000 --> 53:36.400
And, oh, how dare you say this?

53:36.400 --> 53:37.400
Well, you know what?

53:37.400 --> 53:38.400
That's just reality.

53:38.400 --> 53:42.360
Now, as far as our leadership, you know, behind the pulpit, you know, whether it's a song

53:42.360 --> 53:47.200
leader or the announcements or the Bible reader or someone preaching, I want them to have

53:47.200 --> 53:49.160
at least a shirt and a tie as a bare minimum.

53:49.500 --> 53:52.900
I'm not saying they have to have a jacket, but you know, at least having a shirt and

53:52.900 --> 53:57.140
having a tie is kind of a bare minimum, as some kind of standard, because we want it

53:57.140 --> 53:58.140
to be serious.

53:58.140 --> 54:01.860
You know, I don't want it to be like, hey, we're just letting any random person get up

54:01.860 --> 54:04.020
here and just say whatever they want.

54:04.020 --> 54:06.060
It's like, hey, we're taking church seriously.

54:06.060 --> 54:08.580
We're taking the instruction of the church seriously.

54:08.580 --> 54:12.580
And I guarantee someone up here in a Metallica t-shirt, you're not going to take very seriously.

54:13.600 --> 54:20.580
Someone up here and a wife beater. You're not gonna take very serious. Okay, it's just like hey, we should make sure that we have

54:21.900 --> 54:27.740
Appropriate, you know standards for the church and again if there was a church where you know

54:27.740 --> 54:32.640
A pastor is not wearing a suit and tie. I can't say that he's sinning. I

54:33.360 --> 54:37.040
Can't say that he's doing something wrong, but I would say this

54:37.040 --> 54:39.960
I don't think he's taking it as serious as I would like for him to take it

54:41.200 --> 54:45.400
And you know what? The Bible says that, hey, we should be instructing the age of men to what?

54:45.400 --> 54:48.700
To be sober, meaning they're taking things seriously.

54:48.700 --> 54:52.700
Hey, if you don't have a King James Bible, you're not taking Christianity seriously.

54:52.700 --> 54:53.300
Amen.

54:53.600 --> 54:56.600
We need the aged men to have a King James Bible,

54:56.600 --> 54:59.340
because look, you're old enough and you've had enough time

54:59.340 --> 55:01.300
to realize there's a difference in the text,

55:01.300 --> 55:02.880
there's a difference in the Bibles,

55:02.880 --> 55:05.000
and anybody that's serious about Christianity

55:05.000 --> 55:07.180
is gonna have a King James Bible.

55:07.180 --> 55:08.920
All the other Bibles have mistakes,

55:08.920 --> 55:10.920
all the other Bibles have issues.

55:10.920 --> 55:12.920
We need men that are sober,

55:12.920 --> 55:15.020
hey, they're gonna carry themselves well,

55:15.020 --> 55:17.160
hey, they're taking care of their families,

55:17.160 --> 55:18.860
they're working hard.

55:18.860 --> 55:21.520
As an older man, we need to be behaving ourselves in church.

55:21.600 --> 55:24.880
You know that they work with quietness is what the Bible says, meaning that they're

55:24.880 --> 55:29.600
not someone going around bumming money off of everybody, constantly complaining about

55:29.600 --> 55:32.660
not having any money, can't take care of themselves.

55:32.660 --> 55:36.540
You know at the age of men should be able to take care of themselves, the way they dress,

55:36.540 --> 55:38.600
the way they talk, what kind of Bible they have.

55:38.600 --> 55:42.960
They should be people that are examples and leaders in the church, not needing handouts,

55:42.960 --> 55:46.800
not the one needing everything from everybody else, but rather taking care of everyone else.

55:46.800 --> 55:49.600
You know, the Bible says here, if we keep going, grave.

55:49.600 --> 55:52.320
Again, this is very similar, sober, engraved.

55:52.320 --> 55:55.240
Hey, not being a drunkard, taking your life seriously.

55:55.240 --> 55:57.360
You know, if you're drinking alcohol and doing drugs,

55:57.360 --> 55:59.040
you're not serious.

55:59.040 --> 56:00.840
If you're a pothead, if you're an older man

56:00.840 --> 56:03.560
and you're a pothead, you're not serious.

56:03.560 --> 56:04.600
You're not grave.

56:04.800 --> 56:08.800
You're not taking responsibility as a man as something to be considered.

56:08.800 --> 56:10.800
You know, I think another thing that you should do is,

56:10.800 --> 56:13.800
hey, take your health seriously, because you know what?

56:13.800 --> 56:16.800
Hey, it's important. And if you want to last a long time,

56:16.800 --> 56:19.800
you know, health starts to actually factor in the older you get.

56:19.800 --> 56:23.800
You know, taking your health seriously, being temperate.

56:24.300 --> 56:26.300
being sound of the faith, charity, patience.

56:26.300 --> 56:27.660
I'm not gonna go through every single one of these

56:27.660 --> 56:29.660
because I have a lot more than I wanna say this morning.

56:29.660 --> 56:31.980
But in general, these should be the things

56:31.980 --> 56:33.440
that men should be doing.

56:33.440 --> 56:36.400
Obviously they don't need all the attention,

56:36.400 --> 56:37.800
they don't need all the flash,

56:37.800 --> 56:40.480
they don't have to necessarily be the star of the show,

56:40.480 --> 56:42.360
they're temperate, they're sound of faith,

56:42.360 --> 56:45.320
meaning they're good on doctrine.

56:45.320 --> 56:48.800
It'd be kind of a shame if you're 50, 60, 70 years old

56:48.800 --> 56:50.800
and you still don't even know the doctrine of the Bible.

56:51.000 --> 56:55.500
Obviously, if you got saved last week, we get it, but I'm just in general, the aged

56:55.500 --> 57:00.920
men should be ones that know the Bible, understand the doctrine, they can expound on it.

57:00.920 --> 57:03.800
You know, they have, they're an example of love, that's what charity is.

57:03.800 --> 57:08.400
They're the example of love in the church, of people that are doing good unto other people,

57:08.400 --> 57:10.280
and that they're very patient.

57:10.280 --> 57:14.460
You know, as a younger man, you might have a little bit more testosterone, a little bit

57:14.460 --> 57:15.920
more spunk.

57:16.300 --> 57:21.260
But you know, as an aged man, you should be someone that is patient, that you can talk to,

57:21.260 --> 57:26.860
that's not going to be easily tempered, you know, temperamental, someone that's just losing their cool,

57:26.860 --> 57:31.340
you know, you should be someone that can take things well. And even when there's problems,

57:31.340 --> 57:35.900
here's the thing, there's going to be problems in life. And not just church, there's going to be

57:35.900 --> 57:40.620
major problems in life, there's going to be major ups and downs, and you know what, we need an anchor

57:40.620 --> 57:43.260
in our lives, and it's the aged men that are just patient.

57:43.800 --> 57:45.600
They're like, hey, let's not freak out.

57:45.800 --> 57:47.600
Let's not make any rash decisions.

57:47.600 --> 57:49.500
Let's consider what's going on.

57:49.500 --> 57:50.500
Someone that's patient.

57:50.500 --> 57:51.800
Let's wait.

57:51.800 --> 57:52.900
Let's figure it out.

57:52.900 --> 57:54.200
Let's take our time.

57:54.200 --> 57:55.600
Let's not be rash.

57:55.600 --> 57:57.900
Let's not just bounce around.

57:57.900 --> 57:59.500
You know, someone that's very patient,

57:59.500 --> 58:01.200
they can endure things.

58:01.200 --> 58:04.000
They're not easily swayed over.

58:04.000 --> 58:06.400
They're not easily offended, not easily provoked.

58:06.400 --> 58:08.600
I mean, that's what the whole charity chapter is about.

58:08.600 --> 58:11.300
There's someone that's very patient and can deal well.

58:11.300 --> 58:13.700
Younger people sometimes are very impatient.

58:13.800 --> 58:17.300
very immature, very rash, very quick to make decisions,

58:17.300 --> 58:19.900
and so we need the aged men to not be like that.

58:19.900 --> 58:22.100
Not someone that's just gonna jerk the chain

58:22.100 --> 58:24.000
when something goes awry.

58:24.000 --> 58:25.400
And you know what, praise God,

58:25.400 --> 58:28.100
our church has had a lot of ups and downs,

58:28.100 --> 58:29.500
and it's nice when there's some people

58:29.500 --> 58:31.600
that are just like, what's new?

58:31.600 --> 58:32.400
You know, it's just like, hey,

58:32.400 --> 58:34.000
is this another day of St. Basil's Baptist Church?

58:34.000 --> 58:37.000
No, I'm patient, I can deal with this.

58:37.000 --> 58:38.700
Let's wait, let's figure out all the facts,

58:38.700 --> 58:39.600
let's figure out what's going on,

58:39.600 --> 58:41.200
let's not panic about it.

58:41.400 --> 58:45.800
It's like, hey, we might move to church, and you just hit the panic button instantly, and

58:45.800 --> 58:47.560
it's just like, that was a bad move.

58:47.560 --> 58:50.960
And you know, that's not being someone that's patient, that's someone that's just kind of

58:50.960 --> 58:52.360
being immature.

58:52.360 --> 58:58.920
Now, as we continue in this narrative, it switches gears to not just the aged men, but

58:58.920 --> 58:59.920
to the aged women.

58:59.920 --> 59:02.460
Look at verse 3, the aged women likewise.

59:02.460 --> 59:07.680
So in the same way that all the men were supposed to behave, all the aged women should behave

59:07.680 --> 59:09.160
in the exact same way.

59:09.160 --> 59:09.200
you

59:09.300 --> 59:11.700
Now, what is it saying here?

59:11.700 --> 59:14.740
It's saying that the aged women,

59:14.740 --> 59:17.900
that they be in behavior as we come to holiness.

59:17.900 --> 59:19.240
Now here's the thing.

59:19.240 --> 59:23.080
Who is telling the aged women to be in behavior

59:23.080 --> 59:25.240
according to this narrative?

59:25.240 --> 59:26.580
The pastor.

59:26.580 --> 59:29.220
It's the pastor speaking to the older women,

59:29.220 --> 59:32.120
telling the older women how they should behave.

59:32.120 --> 59:35.660
So who is it that is supposed to tell women to behave?

59:35.660 --> 59:36.720
It's the pastor.

59:37.500 --> 59:39.500
Is the pastor telling the men to behave?

59:39.500 --> 59:41.500
Is the pastor telling the women to behave?

59:41.500 --> 59:47.500
Is the pastor basically having guidance and rules and everything for everyone?

59:47.500 --> 59:52.000
And again, I'm speaking sound things, the pastor's speaking sound doctrine,

59:52.000 --> 59:57.000
so that the aged women would be in behavior as becometh holiness.

59:57.000 --> 01:00:01.500
So how should the older women know how to behave from what the pastor is preaching behind the pulpit?

01:00:01.800 --> 01:00:04.120
And, again, expounding on the Word of God.

01:00:04.120 --> 01:00:06.680
It's the Bible that's guiding all of us, of course.

01:00:06.680 --> 01:00:11.460
But it's Him guiding and giving instruction and application for how they should behave.

01:00:11.460 --> 01:00:13.020
How should they not behave?

01:00:13.020 --> 01:00:14.700
Not false accusers, right?

01:00:14.700 --> 01:00:18.420
They should be in behavior as holiness, not a false accuser.

01:00:18.420 --> 01:00:19.660
This would be the exact opposite.

01:00:19.660 --> 01:00:22.980
So we don't want the aged women to be the false accusers.

01:00:22.980 --> 01:00:28.100
We don't want them to be given to much wine, not given to much wine, teachers of good things.

01:00:28.100 --> 01:00:28.600
out.

01:00:29.100 --> 01:00:31.500
Think about how this is showing together.

01:00:31.500 --> 01:00:36.400
Not a false accuser, not, given too much wine, teachers of good things.

01:00:36.400 --> 01:00:38.700
So what's the implication in this particular verse?

01:00:38.700 --> 01:00:45.200
That by being a false accuser, and by being given too much wine, you're teaching bad things.

01:00:45.200 --> 01:00:47.200
Not in some kind of a formal way.

01:00:47.500 --> 01:00:50.800
not in some kind of an instructional manner, but by example.

01:00:50.800 --> 01:00:55.100
By your example of being a false accuser, by your example of giving a much wine,

01:00:55.100 --> 01:00:58.200
you're not a teacher of good things, you're a teacher of bad things.

01:00:58.200 --> 01:01:00.000
You're a teacher of evil things.

01:01:00.000 --> 01:01:02.700
So what should the women be? They should be teachers of good things,

01:01:02.700 --> 01:01:05.000
and then it's going to give us an idea here,

01:01:05.000 --> 01:01:08.400
that they may teach the young women to be sober.

01:01:08.600 --> 01:01:11.400
to love their husbands, to love their children,

01:01:11.400 --> 01:01:14.100
to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home,

01:01:14.100 --> 01:01:15.600
good, obedient to their own husbands,

01:01:15.600 --> 01:01:17.600
that the word of God be not blasphemed.

01:01:17.600 --> 01:01:21.100
So if we take this whole sentence together,

01:01:21.100 --> 01:01:24.100
because it's, notice, one sentence.

01:01:24.100 --> 01:01:28.600
Did you notice that verses 3 through 5 are one sentence?

01:01:28.900 --> 01:01:30.600
How does the sentence start?

01:01:30.700 --> 01:01:33.300
That they are in behavior, OK?

01:01:33.400 --> 01:01:34.900
And then it's saying, it's giving examples

01:01:35.000 --> 01:01:37.440
of bad behavior, teaching bad things.

01:01:37.540 --> 01:01:38.680
And then it's giving examples of what?

01:01:38.780 --> 01:01:41.540
Good behavior, teaching good things.

01:01:41.640 --> 01:01:44.380
It's not really saying like, hey, we need

01:01:44.480 --> 01:01:47.180
to start a ladies Bible study.

01:01:47.280 --> 01:01:49.720
We need to start a woman's Sunday school.

01:01:49.820 --> 01:01:52.320
That's not really in view of this passage at all,

01:01:52.420 --> 01:01:56.100
because the person teaching in this epistle is Titus.

01:01:56.200 --> 01:01:56.900
Titus is a good teacher.

01:01:56.900 --> 01:02:01.660
the one preaching. Titus is the one instructing, and he's instructing the men how to behave,

01:02:01.660 --> 01:02:06.540
and he's instructing the women how to what? Behave. It just fits so perfectly. And of

01:02:06.540 --> 01:02:11.140
course, by their example, through the teaching and through the example of the older ladies,

01:02:11.140 --> 01:02:15.180
that's teaching the younger women how to behave as well. Because they're seeing the example.

01:02:15.180 --> 01:02:21.340
So we have old men, older ladies, we have younger women, and then of course, here in verse 6,

01:02:21.340 --> 01:02:24.300
young men likewise exhorted to be sober minded. So we cover the entire group.

01:02:24.600 --> 01:02:29.160
We have the older and younger men, we have the older ladies and the younger ladies here

01:02:29.160 --> 01:02:31.400
are clearly addressed in this particular passage.

01:02:31.400 --> 01:02:35.640
So, let's just take these things and apply them for a second.

01:02:35.640 --> 01:02:40.280
Now, I have it on the board just to kind of help us keep these things in view, but I believe

01:02:40.280 --> 01:02:43.120
the Bible, you know, it gives us boundaries.

01:02:43.120 --> 01:02:46.200
Anything inside boundaries is up for discretion.

01:02:46.200 --> 01:02:47.760
the Bible has clear.

01:02:48.000 --> 01:02:52.720
boundaries as far as women and how we should behave ourselves in church.

01:02:52.720 --> 01:02:56.980
Now we read in 1st Timothy chapter number 3 that the pastor is to be the husband of

01:02:56.980 --> 01:03:00.860
one wife, that the deacon was to be likewise the husband of one wife.

01:03:00.860 --> 01:03:06.300
So for women, they are number one not to be the pastor or deacon in a church.

01:03:06.300 --> 01:03:08.140
That's not my opinion.

01:03:08.140 --> 01:03:11.520
That's just clearly what the boundary is set in scripture.

01:03:11.520 --> 01:03:14.860
There's no arguing over that unless you just don't care what the Bible says.

01:03:15.500 --> 01:03:20.120
You know, it's not an interpretation, it's a fact, okay?

01:03:20.120 --> 01:03:23.660
Now number two, that they're not supposed to usurp authority over the man.

01:03:23.660 --> 01:03:27.580
Now keep your finger here, we'll come right back, but just flip back a few pages to 1

01:03:27.580 --> 01:03:32.220
Timothy chapter 2, and notice what it says in verse number 11.

01:03:33.100 --> 01:03:39.660
1st Timothy 2, 11, let the woman learn in silence with all subjection, but I suffer

01:03:39.660 --> 01:03:45.900
not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

01:03:45.900 --> 01:03:50.980
So according to the Bible, women are not to usurp authority over men.

01:03:50.980 --> 01:03:54.680
That's again, not a Pastor Shelley opinion.

01:03:54.680 --> 01:03:57.220
This is a biblical fact.

01:03:57.220 --> 01:04:00.820
Women are to learn in silence and they're not to usurp authority over the man.

01:04:01.400 --> 01:04:06.000
Number three, they're not to teach in church, which would be in coordination with what we just read.

01:04:06.000 --> 01:04:08.500
That's the whole silence, learning in silence.

01:04:08.500 --> 01:04:14.400
But let's go to 1 Corinthians 14 as a second proof text of this particular doctrine,

01:04:14.400 --> 01:04:17.300
that women are to learn in silence.

01:04:17.300 --> 01:04:23.300
1 Corinthians chapter number 14, that women just shouldn't be the teachers in church.

01:04:23.300 --> 01:04:28.000
Now, again, let's be clear about what the word church means.

01:04:28.100 --> 01:04:30.100
Church is not a building.

01:04:30.100 --> 01:04:32.900
Church is an assembly of the believers.

01:04:32.900 --> 01:04:35.780
So anytime you have an assembly of the believers,

01:04:35.780 --> 01:04:38.060
who should not be teaching?

01:04:38.060 --> 01:04:38.900
Any woman.

01:04:39.500 --> 01:04:43.100
Okay. Now again, some people will be like, oh, that's sexist.

01:04:43.100 --> 01:04:47.900
Yeah, but look, it's not like just they are the only ones not supposed to be getting up and teaching,

01:04:47.900 --> 01:04:50.600
because frankly speaking, we're not gonna have kids get up and teach either.

01:04:50.600 --> 01:04:52.300
So no kids, no women.

01:04:52.300 --> 01:04:55.800
And then of course, you know, it's not even just every man's gonna get up and teach.

01:04:55.800 --> 01:04:58.400
We want men to be apt to teach and in good standing.

01:04:58.400 --> 01:05:01.700
We don't want just any random dude getting up and teaching either.

01:05:01.700 --> 01:05:03.900
We wouldn't want someone that's not saved.

01:05:03.900 --> 01:05:07.400
We wouldn't, I mean, every guy that's not saved, not, not a...

01:05:07.500 --> 01:05:12.180
eligible either. Okay. Every guy that's just got saved. We don't want him getting up and

01:05:12.180 --> 01:05:15.380
just teaching the whole congregation on a regular basis. I get it that we have preaching

01:05:15.380 --> 01:05:19.060
classes and stuff like that, but that's a super rare thing. But we're just saying in

01:05:19.060 --> 01:05:23.700
general, it's not like only, you know, women were repressing them. There's a lot of people

01:05:23.700 --> 01:05:28.540
that we're not going to have get up and teach. Okay. So it's not just like limited to one

01:05:28.540 --> 01:05:29.540
classification.

01:05:30.000 --> 01:05:33.280
But what does the Bible say? I mean, do you just care what the Bible says or not?

01:05:33.280 --> 01:05:40.000
Verse 33, for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace as in all churches of the saints.

01:05:40.000 --> 01:05:46.800
Let your women keep silence in the churches, for it is not permitted under them to speak,

01:05:46.800 --> 01:05:52.000
but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

01:05:52.700 --> 01:05:57.540
And if they will learn anything, let the master husbands at home for as a shame for women

01:05:57.540 --> 01:05:58.540
to speak in the church.

01:05:58.540 --> 01:06:04.340
I mean, I don't know how much clearer Paul or like what did he have to say?

01:06:04.340 --> 01:06:08.500
But you know, for these women pastors out there, I'm just thinking like what did Paul

01:06:08.500 --> 01:06:11.100
have to pin down for you to get it?

01:06:11.500 --> 01:06:17.600
I guess even if it said like not a woman pastor, he'd be like, well, that's in their day that they didn't want a woman to be a pastor.

01:06:17.600 --> 01:06:21.700
You know, it just it doesn't matter what it said because it really doesn't need to be clearer.

01:06:21.700 --> 01:06:24.200
It's clearer than it could possibly be.

01:06:24.200 --> 01:06:27.400
And yet it's just saying, hey, they're not supposed to be teaching in church.

01:06:27.400 --> 01:06:29.700
So again, we have all the church gathered together.

01:06:29.700 --> 01:06:31.000
They're not to be the pastor.

01:06:31.000 --> 01:06:31.900
They're not to be the deacon.

01:06:31.900 --> 01:06:33.900
They're not supposed to use super authority over a man.

01:06:33.900 --> 01:06:35.800
And they're not supposed to be teaching in the church.

01:06:35.800 --> 01:06:37.100
They're supposed to be in silence.

01:06:37.100 --> 01:06:39.460
And notice it clarifies even

01:06:39.500 --> 01:06:45.300
what that means. It says they're not even allowed to ask a question in church. It says

01:06:45.300 --> 01:06:49.780
if they have any question, did you notice what it said? If they will learn anything,

01:06:49.780 --> 01:06:55.060
let them ask their husbands at home. So are they allowed to ask in church? No, they're

01:06:55.060 --> 01:06:59.900
not allowed, not allowed to ask questions in church. They are to be in silence.

01:07:00.200 --> 01:07:04.200
That is what the Bible is saying. So when we gather and I'm sure somebody's going to be offended,

01:07:04.200 --> 01:07:08.360
it's like we have an opportunity sometimes where I say, hey, does any guy have a question here?

01:07:09.000 --> 01:07:14.760
We're not opening it up for the ladies to speak. Oh, how dare you? You're a misogynist. Oh, you're

01:07:14.760 --> 01:07:21.320
a sexist. You know what? I just love the Bible. Sorry. Hey, if you don't have it said, let every

01:07:21.320 --> 01:07:23.960
woman ask a question, then I would just do that.

01:07:26.200 --> 01:07:30.280
If it said only let women ask questions, I would do that.

01:07:30.280 --> 01:07:32.040
I'm just going to do what the text says because you know what?

01:07:32.040 --> 01:07:37.160
This is the shepherd of our church.

01:07:37.160 --> 01:07:39.880
I am a pastor, but I'm not the chief shepherd.

01:07:39.880 --> 01:07:43.880
And we have the true bishop, which is Jesus Christ,

01:07:43.880 --> 01:07:46.120
and he's right here, and he's telling us how to behave.

01:07:46.120 --> 01:07:49.640
So if you don't like what I'm saying, you just don't like Jesus.

01:07:49.640 --> 01:07:50.920
You don't like the word of God.

01:07:50.920 --> 01:07:52.400
You don't like God.

01:07:52.400 --> 01:07:57.680
You just don't like authority because everything about God's authority and for some reason just people just don't like authority

01:07:57.680 --> 01:08:01.120
No, it's like hey children are supposed to be their parents. Oh, why cuz

01:08:02.280 --> 01:08:05.980
Women are supposed to be speaking in church. Why cuz yeah, okay

01:08:06.100 --> 01:08:10.720
Well divorced men shouldn't be the pastor why cuz yeah, you know, it's just how it is

01:08:11.160 --> 01:08:14.720
And hey pastors, you don't get to tell the Bible what to do. Why cuz

01:08:15.600 --> 01:08:17.600
Your opinion is lesser than God's.

01:08:17.600 --> 01:08:19.600
We have a hierarchy, we have a structure,

01:08:19.600 --> 01:08:23.400
and you know, we should obey the higher powers

01:08:23.400 --> 01:08:24.900
and those that have rule over us,

01:08:24.900 --> 01:08:26.100
and we should be subject to them.

01:08:26.100 --> 01:08:26.600
And you know what?

01:08:26.600 --> 01:08:28.400
Why would you want a pastor that gets up and says,

01:08:28.400 --> 01:08:29.600
I don't care about this part of the Bible?

01:08:29.600 --> 01:08:31.100
Huh, right?

01:08:31.100 --> 01:08:32.300
Because if I don't care about this part,

01:08:32.300 --> 01:08:34.500
if I'm willing to excuse or be like,

01:08:34.500 --> 01:08:37.000
this is kind of mean to women,

01:08:37.000 --> 01:08:38.100
then what other...

01:08:38.400 --> 01:08:40.000
concessions will I make?

01:08:40.000 --> 01:08:44.240
What other weird feminist ideas will I bring into the church

01:08:44.240 --> 01:08:45.440
or into other people's marriage?

01:08:45.440 --> 01:08:46.760
I mean, do you really...

01:08:46.760 --> 01:08:49.000
If I can't even get up and say,

01:08:49.000 --> 01:08:50.800
women are not allowed to ask questions in church,

01:08:50.800 --> 01:08:53.600
do you really want me to give you marriage advice?

01:08:53.600 --> 01:08:55.400
I mean, think about it logically.

01:08:55.400 --> 01:08:58.160
If I'm unwilling to just offend people

01:08:58.160 --> 01:09:00.720
by saying what the Bible just clearly says...

01:09:00.900 --> 01:09:03.940
Do you think I'm going to be able to give good counsel and good advice to people?

01:09:03.940 --> 01:09:09.340
Like, no, we want to make sure that we believe every verse and every line, whether it's comfortable,

01:09:09.340 --> 01:09:12.700
uncomfortable, popular, not popular, in season, out of season.

01:09:12.700 --> 01:09:15.460
We're supposed to approve of you, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine.

01:09:15.460 --> 01:09:16.740
And you know what?

01:09:16.740 --> 01:09:18.980
If you don't like the Bible, you can go anywhere else.

01:09:18.980 --> 01:09:19.980
Yeah.

01:09:19.980 --> 01:09:20.980
But we like the Bible here.

01:09:20.980 --> 01:09:21.980
Okay?

01:09:21.980 --> 01:09:23.540
So number four, they're not allowed to ask questions in church.

01:09:24.200 --> 01:09:28.620
Number five go to first Peter chapter 3 theirs to be meek and quiet

01:09:37.800 --> 01:09:40.700
1 Peter chapter number three, let's read verse four,

01:09:40.700 --> 01:09:42.200
but let it be the hidden man of the heart

01:09:42.200 --> 01:09:44.800
and that which is not corruptible,

01:09:44.800 --> 01:09:47.940
even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit,

01:09:47.940 --> 01:09:50.280
which is in the sight of God of great price.

01:09:50.280 --> 01:09:54.480
So if we're gonna interpret anything in the Bible

01:09:54.480 --> 01:09:56.920
and pertainings to women,

01:09:56.920 --> 01:10:01.520
we need to make sure we consider all of these factors, okay?

01:10:01.520 --> 01:10:02.200
So.

01:10:02.400 --> 01:10:06.400
I just put this on the board so then we can just think about things and say like,

01:10:06.400 --> 01:10:10.960
okay, does it, how does it do on this little boundary list?

01:10:10.960 --> 01:10:15.760
Okay, because if you're playing soccer, you know, there's multiple boundaries.

01:10:15.760 --> 01:10:18.800
There's a boundary at the end of the goal, there's a boundary on the side.

01:10:18.800 --> 01:10:21.760
It doesn't matter which one of those you cross, you're out of bounds.

01:10:22.200 --> 01:10:25.400
Okay, it's not like you have to cross all of them simultaneously.

01:10:25.400 --> 01:10:28.520
If you cross any of them, you're out of bounds.

01:10:28.520 --> 01:10:31.720
Okay, so again, if you cross any of these, it's out of bounds,

01:10:31.720 --> 01:10:34.280
meaning it's not in play, meaning it's not an option,

01:10:34.280 --> 01:10:36.280
meaning you stop playing the game.

01:10:36.280 --> 01:10:38.040
Okay, so what is okay?

01:10:39.240 --> 01:10:43.560
What about a woman uploading a video about how to sew a dress?

01:10:46.000 --> 01:10:48.000
Was he a pastor or deacon?

01:10:48.000 --> 01:10:49.000
Nope.

01:10:49.000 --> 01:10:51.000
Is she usurping authority over a man?

01:10:51.000 --> 01:10:52.000
No.

01:10:52.000 --> 01:10:53.000
Is she teaching in the church?

01:10:53.000 --> 01:10:54.000
No.

01:10:54.000 --> 01:10:56.000
Is she asking questions in church?

01:10:56.000 --> 01:10:57.000
Nope.

01:10:57.000 --> 01:11:01.000
Is this potentially still within being meek and quiet?

01:11:01.000 --> 01:11:03.000
I don't see why it wouldn't be.

01:11:03.000 --> 01:11:05.000
I would think that's totally fine.

01:11:05.000 --> 01:11:08.000
That doesn't seem to bother me.

01:11:08.000 --> 01:11:10.000
How about her?

01:11:11.000 --> 01:11:13.940
Putting other videos up or post about clothes

01:11:14.660 --> 01:11:16.600
recipes cleaning

01:11:16.600 --> 01:11:22.940
Homemaking homeschooling any of these things would any of those cross any of these quote boundaries in my opinion?

01:11:22.940 --> 01:11:27.600
No, I don't see how it could possibly I mean obviously we're gonna have to use discretion on number five

01:11:27.920 --> 01:11:31.680
But in general, I don't see how that's violating anything that we said there

01:11:32.240 --> 01:11:33.900
What about a woman?

01:11:34.100 --> 01:11:41.000
having a social media podcast to influence and expound the Bible.

01:11:41.000 --> 01:11:44.500
Well, number one, that doesn't mean she's a pastor or deacon.

01:11:44.500 --> 01:11:45.900
Okay.

01:11:45.900 --> 01:11:48.400
What about usurping the authority of the man?

01:11:48.400 --> 01:11:51.400
Well, I think that's kind of getting in dangerous territory here.

01:11:51.400 --> 01:11:54.300
But more specifically, how about not teaching in church?

01:11:54.300 --> 01:11:56.400
Or not even asking questions in church?

01:11:56.400 --> 01:11:58.900
Now, again, you say, well, it wasn't in a church building.

01:11:59.100 --> 01:12:06.700
But yeah, but if I'm have a platform of several hundred thousand people and I'm teaching the Bible to them,

01:12:06.700 --> 01:12:11.900
how is that, you know, what is the whole point of these commandments?

01:12:11.900 --> 01:12:14.700
It's like, well, we just didn't want it to be in a building.

01:12:14.700 --> 01:12:18.200
But if you're teaching hundreds of thousands of people this, it's fine.

01:12:18.200 --> 01:12:23.000
It's like, no, no, the whole point is that you just don't want women getting up in these big social gatherings,

01:12:23.000 --> 01:12:25.700
teaching a whole bunch of people because it's just not the right...

01:12:26.000 --> 01:12:31.620
format. It's not the right way to behave yourself. It's totally usurping this and just pretending like church is a building

01:12:31.760 --> 01:12:36.160
instead of an assembly or a congregation or a gathering of people. And now all of a sudden

01:12:36.520 --> 01:12:41.260
it's just crossing into these lines. Plus, it doesn't even seem like you're being very meek and quiet.

01:12:41.400 --> 01:12:49.120
You know, it doesn't say, hey, if a lady wants to learn something about the Bible, ask ladies outside of the building.

01:12:50.200 --> 01:12:56.000
Ask ladies before the church service and a different church service.

01:12:56.000 --> 01:12:57.000
Right?

01:12:57.000 --> 01:12:58.600
Have women's church.

01:12:58.600 --> 01:13:00.200
That would be the answer.

01:13:00.200 --> 01:13:02.800
It wouldn't be like, hey, ask your husband at home.

01:13:02.800 --> 01:13:05.400
It would be like, hey, ask the ladies.

01:13:05.400 --> 01:13:09.800
And again, the whole context of Titus chapter 2,

01:13:09.800 --> 01:13:11.800
let's go back there if you would,

01:13:11.800 --> 01:13:14.200
says teaching the younger women.

01:13:14.900 --> 01:13:16.700
So then you're like, well, how do you interpret that?

01:13:16.700 --> 01:13:19.200
How are the older ladies supposed to teach the younger women

01:13:19.200 --> 01:13:21.700
if you're not going to let them have a formal way to teach them?

01:13:21.700 --> 01:13:24.500
It's because they're teaching them through their behavior.

01:13:24.500 --> 01:13:25.000
Yeah.

01:13:25.000 --> 01:13:25.500
Yeah.

01:13:25.500 --> 01:13:29.700
They're a good example of loving their husbands and loving their children

01:13:29.700 --> 01:13:30.800
and doing all these things.

01:13:30.800 --> 01:13:33.100
So they don't have to necessarily get up and teach.

01:13:33.100 --> 01:13:36.300
But did it say, I mean, let's just be honest with the text for a moment.

01:13:36.300 --> 01:13:39.600
Does it say that they may teach the young women doctrine?

01:13:41.200 --> 01:13:48.000
Does it say they may teach them the law or their testimonies or thy commandments?

01:13:48.800 --> 01:13:50.880
I mean, pretty much it doesn't say any of those things.

01:13:51.520 --> 01:13:54.000
It does say to be obedient to their own husbands.

01:13:54.720 --> 01:13:57.600
Wouldn't that kind of being obedient to your husband would be what?

01:13:57.600 --> 01:14:02.000
Not asking other people questions, but asking him at home when it comes to the Bible,

01:14:02.000 --> 01:14:05.120
when it comes to Bible doctrine, when it comes to these matters.

01:14:05.120 --> 01:14:07.520
If you think about 1st Corinthians 14, what we read.

01:14:08.200 --> 01:14:11.680
It said, as also saith the law.

01:14:11.680 --> 01:14:14.440
It sounds like what the apostle Paul is saying.

01:14:14.440 --> 01:14:16.400
And it's clear.

01:14:16.400 --> 01:14:18.840
He's not saying that this is actually coming

01:14:18.840 --> 01:14:20.520
strictly from the church.

01:14:20.520 --> 01:14:23.080
It's coming from the law saying they're not allowed to speak.

01:14:23.080 --> 01:14:24.960
So he's saying from the principle of them not being able

01:14:24.960 --> 01:14:28.160
to speak in a lost context should be the same

01:14:28.160 --> 01:14:29.840
as in a church context.

01:14:29.840 --> 01:14:32.320
Because he's saying as also.

01:14:32.500 --> 01:14:35.380
Say it the law. He's not saying because of the law

01:14:35.700 --> 01:14:40.060
He's not saying the law thing he's saying as also say at the law meaning

01:14:40.060 --> 01:14:46.300
Here's another context and which women are not permitted to speak and what is that under what the law is saying?

01:14:46.740 --> 01:14:52.040
Saying they the laws having them be silent the laws having them not deal with these particular issues

01:14:53.400 --> 01:14:57.740
So, again, what does the teach good things, teach young women to be sober, to love their

01:14:57.740 --> 01:15:00.580
husbands, love their children, to be discreet?

01:15:00.580 --> 01:15:07.420
That sounds similar to being meek and quiet, not broadcasting your opinions on the Bible,

01:15:07.420 --> 01:15:09.620
criticizing pastors and doing whatever.

01:15:09.620 --> 01:15:12.700
You know, and again, who are some of the biggest names in this?

01:15:12.700 --> 01:15:13.700
How about like Candace Owens?

01:15:14.400 --> 01:15:18.800
getting out there and just giving her opinions on all kinds of matters.

01:15:18.800 --> 01:15:24.800
How about Ali Beth Stuckey, who has some channel where she's constantly talking about theology,

01:15:24.800 --> 01:15:32.500
the Bible, salvation, Calvinism, all of her beliefs, everything you could possibly think about

01:15:32.500 --> 01:15:37.100
teaching from a theological perspective, just some lady with hundreds of thousands of followers,

01:15:37.100 --> 01:15:40.400
hundreds of thousands of people are paying attention to this kind of content.

01:15:40.400 --> 01:15:42.300
And look, when you're doing that, you know what?

01:15:42.400 --> 01:15:47.160
you're forcing the situation where if you teach something wrong, men of God should get

01:15:47.160 --> 01:15:48.160
up and correct it.

01:15:48.160 --> 01:15:52.120
Because you can't just allow people to get up and teach hundreds of thousands of people

01:15:52.120 --> 01:15:57.900
lies and false doctrine and then just expect the men of God to be quiet about that.

01:15:57.900 --> 01:16:01.240
Men are supposed to be in the gates, men are supposed to be out there combating the false

01:16:01.240 --> 01:16:06.880
prophets, naming names, marking people, publicly exposing them, taking them to task.

01:16:06.880 --> 01:16:09.000
Now look, what if a lady got up?

01:16:09.400 --> 01:16:13.000
and made a video about how to sew and she just totally butchered it.

01:16:13.000 --> 01:16:14.520
Like she just doesn't even know what to do.

01:16:14.520 --> 01:16:17.000
She's just like a total bad way to sew.

01:16:17.000 --> 01:16:19.120
Do you think I need to get up behind my pulpit and be like,

01:16:19.120 --> 01:16:20.800
don't listen to this lady about sewing.

01:16:20.800 --> 01:16:22.880
No, I don't care.

01:16:22.880 --> 01:16:24.160
I don't give a rip.

01:16:24.160 --> 01:16:25.960
Like I don't like that's silly.

01:16:25.960 --> 01:16:29.880
OK, what if she gives a recipe for Texas chili and she puts beans in it?

01:16:30.800 --> 01:16:33.720
I'm not going to get up and have the need of being like,

01:16:33.720 --> 01:16:36.400
hey, this woman's teaching false doctrine.

01:16:36.400 --> 01:16:39.920
Texas chili needs to have not beans in it or something.

01:16:39.920 --> 01:16:40.520
But you know what?

01:16:40.520 --> 01:16:42.600
What if she's getting up and saying, hey, it's

01:16:42.600 --> 01:16:44.400
OK to divorce your husband?

01:16:44.700 --> 01:16:50.000
What if she's getting up and saying it's okay to abandon your family and run off and do all this kind of stuff?

01:16:50.000 --> 01:16:51.200
Yeah, well then you know what?

01:16:51.200 --> 01:16:55.520
I think it's it's reasonable for a pastor get up and say beware of this woman

01:16:55.520 --> 01:17:02.660
Who's getting up and publicly telling people to leave their husband or to become Catholic or to become a Calvinist?

01:17:02.660 --> 01:17:06.800
Or teaching all this false doctrine like it makes total reasonable sense to correct that

01:17:07.300 --> 01:17:09.300
And that's why women should stay out of that lane.

01:17:09.300 --> 01:17:11.300
They shouldn't be teaching the Bible.

01:17:11.300 --> 01:17:15.300
And I get that, hey, this is the primary context of when we're assembled,

01:17:15.300 --> 01:17:18.300
but don't usurp that by creating your own online church

01:17:18.300 --> 01:17:21.300
and your own online congregation, your own online assembly,

01:17:21.300 --> 01:17:25.300
and then pretend like you're not violating this particular principle.

01:17:27.300 --> 01:17:29.300
Here's another thing.

01:17:29.300 --> 01:17:34.300
What about women just getting up and giving their commentary on political, criminal, social commentary?

01:17:35.400 --> 01:17:43.400
What about that? Well, this is where I would say, you know, I think what I just said clearly violates this, the previous statement.

01:17:43.400 --> 01:17:49.400
This would be my personal judgment that it's somehow violating this as well, because I don't think it's being meek and quiet.

01:17:49.400 --> 01:17:59.400
It's my judgment, okay, my discernment. And then secondly, if you actually kind of think about what Paul said, and I go, it's a derived meaning, but he says, as also say the law,

01:17:59.400 --> 01:18:02.300
it sounds like women shouldn't really be talking about the law either.

01:18:03.000 --> 01:18:08.400
And that kind of makes sense to me that you didn't, you know, you're not having women be the judges of our society.

01:18:08.400 --> 01:18:10.800
They shouldn't be the governors. They shouldn't be the rulers.

01:18:10.800 --> 01:18:13.900
They shouldn't be the one enforcing criminal justice.

01:18:13.900 --> 01:18:19.800
And you know what? It doesn't make sense to have women getting up there and criticizing the criminal justice system,

01:18:19.800 --> 01:18:23.400
criticizing lawyers, criticizing what's really going on.

01:18:23.400 --> 01:18:25.000
You know, do we really want that?

01:18:25.000 --> 01:18:27.200
You know, how about the death penalty?

01:18:27.400 --> 01:18:33.400
I guarantee there's way more women that are empathetic towards murderers than men are.

01:18:33.400 --> 01:18:34.400
Yep.

01:18:34.400 --> 01:18:37.400
They would get up and it's like, oh, this guy deserves a death penalty.

01:18:37.400 --> 01:18:39.400
Oh, but he's such a sweet guy or whatever.

01:18:39.400 --> 01:18:42.400
You know, what is that like Luigi or something?

01:18:42.400 --> 01:18:44.400
Who knows what I'm talking about?

01:18:44.400 --> 01:18:47.400
I can't say his last name, stupid.

01:18:47.400 --> 01:18:49.400
Something Maggie, something, you know, whatever.

01:18:49.400 --> 01:18:51.400
Luigi Maggiano or whatever.

01:18:51.400 --> 01:18:52.400
I don't know.

01:18:52.400 --> 01:18:53.800
It's like...

01:18:54.000 --> 01:18:56.240
Maciano's little Italy or something, you know, it's like

01:18:56.960 --> 01:19:02.480
Hey this guy it's like all these women were fawning over this guy and acting like he's not a bad guy

01:19:02.760 --> 01:19:05.100
It's like look murderers should be put to death

01:19:05.740 --> 01:19:13.260
How many women right now are getting up and just condemning the justice system for the idea that Lindsay Clancy?

01:19:13.360 --> 01:19:15.200
Would be found guilty of murder

01:19:15.400 --> 01:19:17.100
Not even getting the death penalty.

01:19:17.100 --> 01:19:18.400
We don't even know if that's on the table.

01:19:18.400 --> 01:19:20.600
We don't even know what the sentencing would be.

01:19:20.600 --> 01:19:25.100
Just even facing prison or just facing any kind of criminal justice for murdering all of her kids.

01:19:25.100 --> 01:19:31.600
It's just like, I bet if we had a poll and it's like dudes, it's like, hey, should she go to jail?

01:19:31.600 --> 01:19:33.600
It would be a really high percentage.

01:19:35.100 --> 01:19:37.100
and women is a lot less.

01:19:37.100 --> 01:19:41.820
And it's like, hey, maybe they just shouldn't be the ones commenting on criminal justice.

01:19:41.820 --> 01:19:47.340
Maybe they shouldn't be the ones commenting on, you know, political and social commentary.

01:19:47.340 --> 01:19:54.620
And look, it's hard to detach political, criminal, and social commentary from theology anyways.

01:19:55.000 --> 01:20:00.400
I mean, we derive our morality from the Bible, from the legal code of God.

01:20:00.400 --> 01:20:05.480
And so if we're going to say like, oh, women can now get up and rip on lawyers in the criminal

01:20:05.480 --> 01:20:10.120
justice system and talk about all these different things, well, how are they not usurping the

01:20:10.120 --> 01:20:11.320
authority of the man?

01:20:11.320 --> 01:20:13.080
How are they really being meek and quiet?

01:20:13.080 --> 01:20:16.440
And if they say these things, I think men of God are going to have to get up and combat

01:20:16.440 --> 01:20:20.280
that nonsense and call it out and say, hey, this isn't what the Bible says.

01:20:20.280 --> 01:20:21.640
This isn't right.

01:20:21.640 --> 01:20:22.960
And so you know what?

01:20:23.000 --> 01:20:25.120
for having us as a church, we're a church,

01:20:25.120 --> 01:20:26.800
we're supposed to behave ourselves.

01:20:26.800 --> 01:20:29.040
Not only when we're here, but when we're not here.

01:20:29.040 --> 01:20:31.240
Hey, you know what, I don't wanna have a bunch of women

01:20:31.240 --> 01:20:34.820
in my church that are social and political commentators.

01:20:35.920 --> 01:20:38.300
I don't want a bunch of Candace Owens in my church.

01:20:38.600 --> 01:20:41.480
I don't want a bunch of Ali Best Stuckies in my church getting up there.

01:20:41.480 --> 01:20:44.160
And think about it, you know the Bible is not saying in Titus chapter number 2 that

01:20:44.160 --> 01:20:47.160
the pastor's wife should do these things, it's just saying older women.

01:20:47.160 --> 01:20:49.960
So if you were to actually interpret this the way a lot of these people are doing, they

01:20:49.960 --> 01:20:53.960
would have to believe that virtually every older lady in our church should be a social

01:20:53.960 --> 01:20:58.340
media influencer and commentator and giving all their public opinions and whatever.

01:20:58.340 --> 01:21:03.040
But no, it's usually just a feminist pastor's wife that wants to get up there and take all

01:21:03.040 --> 01:21:05.600
the power and authority in themselves and then point to this verse.

01:21:05.600 --> 01:21:06.600
even though it has nothing to do with the past.

01:21:06.600 --> 01:21:12.340
The pastor's wife is told not to be a slanderer and be sober and grave, but then it's just

01:21:12.340 --> 01:21:17.180
like older ladies can teach younger ladies by example of course, and then it's like,

01:21:17.180 --> 01:21:19.660
okay, so you're saying women can't teach anything?

01:21:19.660 --> 01:21:21.800
No, no, I never said that.

01:21:21.800 --> 01:21:23.580
Teaching your children, is that a violation of anything in here?

01:21:24.000 --> 01:21:27.300
Absolutely not. In fact, that is instructed in the Bible. That's a commandment of the Bible.

01:21:27.300 --> 01:21:29.000
It's for them to teach their children.

01:21:29.000 --> 01:21:33.200
What if a lady in the church asked another lady a question?

01:21:33.200 --> 01:21:35.700
Yeah, answer the question.

01:21:35.700 --> 01:21:38.800
That's silly. It's like, oh, what about Deborah?

01:21:38.800 --> 01:21:42.900
Well, here's the thing. Deborah doesn't have the Deborah show.

01:21:45.600 --> 01:21:47.600
Did you realize that?

01:21:47.600 --> 01:21:51.600
Deborah is like sitting under a tree minding her own business.

01:21:51.600 --> 01:21:55.600
And then a guy comes up and asks her a question and she answers it.

01:21:55.600 --> 01:22:00.600
The Bible is not saying women are not allowed to answer questions at all.

01:22:00.600 --> 01:22:02.600
It doesn't say that at all. That's silly.

01:22:02.600 --> 01:22:07.600
Obviously a woman being asked a question, it's not saying she can't quote the Bible.

01:22:07.600 --> 01:22:11.400
She can't point to what the Bible says. Of course she can.

01:22:12.500 --> 01:22:18.820
But, you know what? It's not saying they should get up and give unsolicited advice, be a public

01:22:18.820 --> 01:22:26.060
commentator, be a public teacher, be the pastor, be the deacon. Obviously, the Bible points

01:22:26.060 --> 01:22:31.660
to women going out and being evangelistic and preaching the gospel. I get it. Obviously,

01:22:31.660 --> 01:22:37.140
they point to, oh, Priscilla is teaching Apollos, but it's like her and her husband in an evangelistic

01:22:37.140 --> 01:22:37.640
setting.

01:22:37.900 --> 01:22:42.600
Yeah, you know what? It makes total sense that if me and my wife are talking with people

01:22:42.600 --> 01:22:46.000
and they want to ask my wife a question, they can do it.

01:22:46.000 --> 01:22:48.920
And then my wife, my wife usually gives great advice.

01:22:48.920 --> 01:22:50.840
It's not even that women can't give good advice.

01:22:50.840 --> 01:22:52.280
It's not that women can't be wise.

01:22:52.280 --> 01:22:54.600
It's not that women can't help younger ladies.

01:22:54.600 --> 01:22:55.600
But you know what?

01:22:55.600 --> 01:22:57.440
It's just saying, hey, maybe they should just stay in their lane.

01:22:59.400 --> 01:23:03.000
And again, not violate any one of these clear biblical principles.

01:23:03.000 --> 01:23:06.920
And you know what? We want to have a church where the men are behaving, the women are behaving,

01:23:06.920 --> 01:23:12.920
everyone is behaving. It's not some weird formal instruction. It's just really simple.

01:23:13.720 --> 01:23:14.440
And again.

01:23:15.400 --> 01:23:21.000
My political social commentary, that's kind of my personal interpretation, my judgment of this verse.

01:23:21.000 --> 01:23:27.700
If you have a different judgment and you want your wife to be the lawyer of the family and go online and give all this political commentary,

01:23:27.700 --> 01:23:34.700
I can't necessarily say you're in sin, but I'm just telling you I don't like it and I wouldn't agree with it and I would stand in judgment of that.

01:23:34.700 --> 01:23:35.100
Yeah.

01:23:35.100 --> 01:23:35.700
Okay.

01:23:36.100 --> 01:23:40.700
I can't necessarily take you to task, but go to 1 Corinthians chapter 11 for a moment.

01:23:40.700 --> 01:23:42.200
Go to 1 Corinthians chapter 11.

01:23:42.200 --> 01:23:45.500
Let me show you some more evidence about this point.

01:23:45.500 --> 01:23:46.900
And we'll move on.

01:23:46.900 --> 01:23:51.000
I know you love this point, but we'll move on, okay?

01:23:51.000 --> 01:23:53.500
1 Corinthians chapter 11.

01:23:53.500 --> 01:23:57.500
Look at verse number 14.

01:23:57.500 --> 01:23:58.100
Now...

01:23:58.400 --> 01:24:01.840
I want to read this because I want to show you that there's verses in the Bible

01:24:01.840 --> 01:24:04.640
use the word teach and it's not a formal instruction.

01:24:04.640 --> 01:24:06.280
Let's see.

01:24:06.280 --> 01:24:11.840
Does not even nature itself teach you that of a man of long hair is a shame on him?

01:24:11.840 --> 01:24:15.840
Now, when have you sat down and had a nature teach you something?

01:24:16.500 --> 01:24:18.100
What is it saying?

01:24:18.100 --> 01:24:21.980
It's saying just the example of natural circumstances,

01:24:21.980 --> 01:24:26.140
of natural experiences just show and evidence for you

01:24:26.140 --> 01:24:27.820
that it's gross.

01:24:27.820 --> 01:24:32.060
You know, just seeing a dude with the long nasty mullet

01:24:32.060 --> 01:24:35.700
or these Fabios or whatever, with their hair flowing in the wind.

01:24:35.700 --> 01:24:37.820
There's somebody that you look from behind,

01:24:37.820 --> 01:24:39.540
you kind of thought it was a woman,

01:24:39.540 --> 01:24:40.500
and then they turn around, you're like,

01:24:40.500 --> 01:24:42.420
ah, what is that?

01:24:42.420 --> 01:24:43.180
Okay.

01:24:43.400 --> 01:24:46.680
It was like no one taught me that was gross.

01:24:46.680 --> 01:24:50.280
It was a natural reaction to it being gross.

01:24:50.280 --> 01:24:53.800
It was just, I was taught by just experiencing it.

01:24:53.800 --> 01:24:55.320
It was like no one had to show me,

01:24:55.320 --> 01:24:57.640
I didn't have a class in school where they're like,

01:24:57.640 --> 01:25:01.000
okay now children, when there's this really long hair

01:25:01.000 --> 01:25:03.080
on the guy, you say gross.

01:25:03.080 --> 01:25:05.480
I say long hair, you say gross.

01:25:05.480 --> 01:25:07.000
It's like never happened.

01:25:07.000 --> 01:25:09.720
It was, I saw it and I was just like, wow, it's gross.

01:25:10.200 --> 01:25:11.800
Which is obvious.

01:25:11.800 --> 01:25:14.700
Now, in the next verse, it says,

01:25:14.700 --> 01:25:15.800
but if a woman have long hair,

01:25:15.800 --> 01:25:18.100
it is a glory to her for her hair is given to her company.

01:25:18.100 --> 01:25:19.400
The Bible's crystal clear.

01:25:19.400 --> 01:25:22.400
Women should have long hair, men should have short hair.

01:25:22.400 --> 01:25:24.700
And it says even nature teaches you this stuff.

01:25:24.700 --> 01:25:26.400
You don't even need the Bible to teach you this.

01:25:26.400 --> 01:25:30.100
Just natural experiences teach you this kind of obvious thing.

01:25:30.100 --> 01:25:34.300
But here's the thing, did the Bible say what long hair is?

01:25:34.300 --> 01:25:36.300
It didn't give a measurement, did it?

01:25:36.500 --> 01:25:38.900
Okay, so that's where discretion comes into play.

01:25:38.900 --> 01:25:43.700
Just like, does it expel out what meek and quiet means?

01:25:43.700 --> 01:25:46.100
No, we don't have a length.

01:25:46.100 --> 01:25:48.800
But man, when you're just posting online every day

01:25:48.800 --> 01:25:51.300
your social and political commentary,

01:25:51.300 --> 01:25:53.200
it doesn't, it's like having a butch haircut

01:25:53.200 --> 01:25:54.500
trying to tell me it's long.

01:25:54.500 --> 01:25:58.340
And it's just like, well, how do you know?

01:25:58.900 --> 01:26:00.620
Well, nature teaches me that.

01:26:00.620 --> 01:26:01.620
Right.

01:26:01.620 --> 01:26:06.020
Okay, it's just nature, it's just, it's natural to realize there's something wrong about this

01:26:06.020 --> 01:26:09.220
and we all kind of see it and we all kind of get it and we're all just kind of like,

01:26:09.220 --> 01:26:10.420
wow, that's gross.

01:26:10.420 --> 01:26:11.500
I don't want it.

01:26:11.500 --> 01:26:14.680
But of course the people, they want to sit here and argue about hair link and they're

01:26:14.680 --> 01:26:19.780
always flirting with the line and always crossing lines for most people and then they just try

01:26:19.780 --> 01:26:21.260
to pretend like they're not.

01:26:21.260 --> 01:26:22.260
Okay.

01:26:22.260 --> 01:26:25.580
Oh, well the Bible, I mean I've had people get up and say the Bible commands the women

01:26:25.580 --> 01:26:26.580
to teach the younger women.

01:26:26.580 --> 01:26:26.900
Thank you.

01:26:27.000 --> 01:26:30.200
And I'm just like, sure, but like in a behavior sense.

01:26:30.200 --> 01:26:31.200
Yeah.

01:26:31.200 --> 01:26:36.920
I don't think, I don't think you have to ever verbally instruct other people to be in compliance

01:26:36.920 --> 01:26:37.920
with that.

01:26:37.920 --> 01:26:40.820
I don't think any older women have to sit any younger women down and have some kind

01:26:40.820 --> 01:26:45.960
of a verbal instruction time or let me share everything that I know with you.

01:26:45.960 --> 01:26:47.560
Like just be a good example.

01:26:47.560 --> 01:26:48.760
And that's what the Bible is telling you.

01:26:49.800 --> 01:26:51.800
And then who's going to tell you to do that?

01:26:51.800 --> 01:26:53.240
The pastor's going to tell you to do that.

01:26:53.240 --> 01:26:56.280
The pastor's going to tell you how to be in behavior so that you can set a good example

01:26:56.280 --> 01:26:57.280
for the younger ladies.

01:26:57.280 --> 01:26:58.280
And you know what?

01:26:58.280 --> 01:27:02.120
I want the older women to do what I'm saying so the younger women will follow suit.

01:27:02.120 --> 01:27:05.880
Because let's just be honest, you older ladies didn't grow up where social influencers was

01:27:05.880 --> 01:27:06.880
even a thing.

01:27:06.880 --> 01:27:08.080
Do you realize that?

01:27:09.000 --> 01:27:16.400
Like you, maybe you do or don't, remember, you didn't have a smartphone, you didn't have the opportunity to do all this kind of stuff.

01:27:16.400 --> 01:27:22.300
So, if you just continue to not do it, you'll set a good example to the younger ladies.

01:27:22.300 --> 01:27:26.500
If an older lady then just decides, now I need to be a social media influencer.

01:27:26.800 --> 01:27:32.080
That's going to set an example to this younger generation like we need to all be like that then we need to all fall like suit

01:27:32.080 --> 01:27:34.520
I want to be like her too. I want to be Candace, too

01:27:34.520 --> 01:27:38.560
I want to be Ali best lucky to I just want to be Joyce Meyer and Beth Moore and

01:27:39.240 --> 01:27:44.040
Paula white and I want to be the one and I want to be the one that is the spiritual

01:27:44.320 --> 01:27:46.840
Guider of the President of the United States. I

01:27:48.280 --> 01:27:51.620
Mean Donald Trump said that his pastor was Paula white at one point

01:27:52.700 --> 01:27:56.540
Like we're supposed to believe that the most powerful man on the earth,

01:27:56.540 --> 01:27:59.900
the person that is his spiritual guidance is a woman.

01:28:02.460 --> 01:28:05.820
Wow. I mean, it's just mind boggling.

01:28:06.620 --> 01:28:08.540
How is that not usurping authority over the man?

01:28:09.420 --> 01:28:13.500
I mean, wouldn't that in a sense almost make you the most powerful person in the world?

01:28:14.200 --> 01:28:18.200
Like if you're the one guiding and instructing the most powerful person,

01:28:18.200 --> 01:28:22.200
sounds like you're the most powerful person, why are we giving it to Paula White?

01:28:22.200 --> 01:28:28.200
Divorced and just nonsensical, Pentecostal flavor, you know, woman pastor.

01:28:28.200 --> 01:28:32.200
It's just, it's just, it's nonsense. It's nonsense, it's ridiculous.

01:28:32.200 --> 01:28:35.200
And you say, this is what someone will do, well I'm not Paula White.

01:28:35.200 --> 01:28:38.200
Well you can still be in violation of these things and not be Paula White, okay?

01:28:38.200 --> 01:28:41.200
So let's have good behavior in the church.

01:28:42.000 --> 01:28:46.440
Good with Ephesians 6, you know, another verse to just bring up while you're going there

01:28:46.440 --> 01:28:47.680
and transitioning is,

01:28:47.680 --> 01:28:52.360
"'Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel,

01:28:52.360 --> 01:28:58.960
which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach, and to seduce my servants to commit fornication,

01:28:58.960 --> 01:29:00.480
and to eat things sacrificed in idols.'"

01:29:00.480 --> 01:29:01.480
You know, one of the things that...

01:29:01.480 --> 01:29:01.700
you

01:29:02.000 --> 01:29:07.280
The Lord Jesus Christ, because that's who's speaking in Revelation, I don't know if you

01:29:07.280 --> 01:29:12.080
remember that, said that he didn't like about this church is that there was a woman teaching.

01:29:12.080 --> 01:29:13.080
Yeah.

01:29:13.080 --> 01:29:14.520
I mean, that's just what he said.

01:29:14.520 --> 01:29:16.200
So I kind of like, I like Jesus' opinion.

01:29:16.200 --> 01:29:17.200
I'll just be honest with you.

01:29:21.000 --> 01:29:24.800
So, last group that I want to address is children for a moment.

01:29:24.800 --> 01:29:30.300
And Ephesians chapter number 6 tells us that children are to obey their parents.

01:29:30.300 --> 01:29:33.300
I want to read verses 1 through 3.

01:29:33.300 --> 01:29:34.100
So, you know...

01:29:34.600 --> 01:29:39.160
Obviously, the parents need to be in behavior so that the children will then be in behavior.

01:29:39.160 --> 01:29:40.160
Okay.

01:29:40.160 --> 01:29:41.400
Look what it says in verse number one.

01:29:41.400 --> 01:29:45.120
Children obey your parents and the Lord for this is right.

01:29:45.120 --> 01:29:47.680
Honor thy father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise that it may

01:29:47.680 --> 01:29:50.400
be well with thee and thou mayest live long on the earth.

01:29:50.400 --> 01:29:56.880
So according to the Bible, your link of life in many ways is directly tied to how you treat

01:29:56.880 --> 01:29:59.680
your parents and how well you listen to it.

01:30:00.100 --> 01:30:02.260
the instructions of your parents.

01:30:02.260 --> 01:30:04.900
And for those who disregard their parents,

01:30:04.900 --> 01:30:06.020
don't obey their parents,

01:30:06.020 --> 01:30:08.020
don't care what their parents have to say,

01:30:08.020 --> 01:30:10.260
in many cases their lives will be cut short.

01:30:10.600 --> 01:30:14.640
I don't think that means they'll die as a child necessarily, but they could die in their

01:30:14.640 --> 01:30:20.200
20s, their 30s, their 40s because of living such a rebellious, wicked lifestyle.

01:30:20.200 --> 01:30:24.680
And look, this is a promise from God that, hey, you want to live a longer life?

01:30:24.680 --> 01:30:26.660
Well, you should honor your father and your mother.

01:30:26.660 --> 01:30:27.660
You should obey them.

01:30:27.660 --> 01:30:29.280
You should do good unto them.

01:30:29.280 --> 01:30:35.340
Look at chapter 5, verse 1, be therefore followers of God as dear children.

01:30:35.340 --> 01:30:36.540
You know, we should all...

01:30:36.700 --> 01:30:42.500
Also, realize that even though you're not an actual child, you are a child of God.

01:30:42.500 --> 01:30:45.460
And so therefore, we should take the same principle applied to our children and apply

01:30:45.460 --> 01:30:51.000
it to ourselves that we are in the house of God, God is our Father, we are His children,

01:30:51.000 --> 01:30:53.420
and we are supposed to be followers of God.

01:30:53.420 --> 01:30:57.020
So we want to make sure that we are behaving ourselves well in the house of God.

01:30:57.020 --> 01:30:58.940
Go to Ecclesiastes chapter 5 as well.

01:30:58.940 --> 01:31:02.700
Go to Ecclesiastes, go back to Ecclesiastes chapter number 5.

01:31:03.500 --> 01:31:06.000
We should treat the house of God with respect.

01:31:06.000 --> 01:31:11.000
And you know, in your house, I guarantee you have rules.

01:31:12.580 --> 01:31:14.280
I don't know what they are.

01:31:14.280 --> 01:31:17.780
I'll just speculate that some people might have rules like,

01:31:17.780 --> 01:31:20.380
I don't know, no jumping up and down on the bed.

01:31:22.900 --> 01:31:24.900
No jumping up and down on furniture.

01:31:24.900 --> 01:31:32.900
Just for my sanity's sake, who in here would tell their kids to stop jumping up and down on your furniture in the living room?

01:31:32.900 --> 01:31:37.900
Okay. What about if they're jumping up and down on the furniture in church?

01:31:37.900 --> 01:31:40.900
Maybe you should say no.

01:31:40.900 --> 01:31:44.900
Maybe you should be like, hey, that's not acceptable.

01:31:44.900 --> 01:31:48.900
Hey kids, you're not allowed to jump up and down on the furniture in church.

01:31:49.100 --> 01:31:53.980
You shouldn't be running across it like little mice and jumping across like Super Mario.

01:31:55.180 --> 01:31:59.100
Okay, just like you shouldn't be doing that in house. I mean if you're not going to do that in

01:31:59.100 --> 01:32:02.220
your home, how much more in the house of God?

01:32:03.400 --> 01:32:06.000
And you know, children, this is one thing you should learn.

01:32:06.000 --> 01:32:09.200
You should behave yourselves better at someone else's house than your own.

01:32:09.200 --> 01:32:12.000
If you're a guest in someone else's house,

01:32:12.000 --> 01:32:14.600
or you're invited to one of your friend's houses,

01:32:14.600 --> 01:32:18.200
you should be better behaved there than you would be at home.

01:32:18.200 --> 01:32:22.600
And then how much more at the house of God should you behave yourself?

01:32:22.600 --> 01:32:25.300
Now, Ecclesiastes chapter 5, look at verse 1.

01:32:25.300 --> 01:32:29.140
Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God.

01:32:29.500 --> 01:32:34.060
and be more ready to hear than to give the sacrifice of fools for they consider not that they do evil.

01:32:34.060 --> 01:32:37.500
Now again, it's using metaphoric language here,

01:32:37.500 --> 01:32:40.780
but we should at least just consider the analogy that's being used here,

01:32:40.780 --> 01:32:42.860
is that you should watch your step.

01:32:42.860 --> 01:32:43.980
You should be careful.

01:32:44.200 --> 01:32:49.960
And again, literally, but again, there's obviously a more metaphorical and more pronounced,

01:32:49.960 --> 01:32:53.760
you know, expounding on this particular verse, but hey, we should be careful coming to church.

01:32:53.760 --> 01:32:55.920
We should be serious about coming to church.

01:32:55.920 --> 01:32:57.720
We shouldn't take things lightly.

01:32:57.720 --> 01:32:58.960
You know, we have a nice church.

01:32:58.960 --> 01:33:00.360
We have nice things.

01:33:00.360 --> 01:33:01.360
We shouldn't be coming here.

01:33:01.360 --> 01:33:04.920
It's not a jungle gym.

01:33:04.920 --> 01:33:06.680
And look, I get it.

01:33:06.680 --> 01:33:09.400
Hey, as a kid, everything's a jungle gym.

01:33:10.900 --> 01:33:16.680
I love it too, you know, you watch those videos, some teenagers think this way too, it's called parkour or whatever.

01:33:17.380 --> 01:33:20.840
They just like, they think everything's a gym and they just want to run around everything.

01:33:21.340 --> 01:33:24.060
Hardcore parkour. It's like that's not the church building!

01:33:25.100 --> 01:33:31.420
Okay, we want to be things and look we're filling up where we have a lot of people on Sunday morning

01:33:31.760 --> 01:33:34.380
Sometimes we like almost run out of chairs and I get it

01:33:34.560 --> 01:33:40.660
But you know and then it gets tight after the services, but this is still be a time to act on your best behavior

01:33:41.320 --> 01:33:45.600
Hey, I'm not saying don't talk to your friends. I'm not saying don't have a good time

01:33:45.600 --> 01:33:49.300
I'm not saying don't hang out, but what I am saying is don't play parkour

01:33:50.200 --> 01:33:52.400
What I am saying is don't run around on the furniture.

01:33:52.500 --> 01:33:54.600
What I am saying is don't jump up and down.

01:33:54.700 --> 01:33:55.800
What I am saying is, hey, we have rules.

01:33:55.900 --> 01:33:57.000
No running.

01:33:57.100 --> 01:33:58.600
Because, you know, we don't want you to get hurt.

01:33:58.700 --> 01:34:00.300
We don't want other kids to get hurt.

01:34:00.400 --> 01:34:01.600
Because here's the thing.

01:34:01.700 --> 01:34:04.000
You're going to run, and you're going to hit another kid.

01:34:04.100 --> 01:34:05.600
And this other kid's really sensitive,

01:34:05.700 --> 01:34:07.980
and they're going to be like, ah, I'm so injured.

01:34:08.080 --> 01:34:09.780
And then they're going to go tell their parents,

01:34:09.880 --> 01:34:11.420
and these parents are going to get mad at those parents,

01:34:11.520 --> 01:34:13.080
and they're going to get mad at everybody.

01:34:13.180 --> 01:34:14.580
And it's just like, stop.

01:34:14.680 --> 01:34:15.780
You know, just don't run.

01:34:17.600 --> 01:34:19.600
The sensitive kid can't handle it.

01:34:19.600 --> 01:34:20.600
Okay, we get it.

01:34:22.100 --> 01:34:25.500
And look, you say the sensitive kid, that's all of them, okay?

01:34:25.500 --> 01:34:27.000
They all have their sensitive day.

01:34:27.000 --> 01:34:28.400
There's always that one day.

01:34:28.400 --> 01:34:31.700
And it's, you know, they don't even hardly get, they're all like soccer players.

01:34:31.700 --> 01:34:33.800
It's all fake injuries and stuff, you know?

01:34:33.800 --> 01:34:36.400
They're just throwing themselves on the ground because they got injured,

01:34:36.400 --> 01:34:39.100
or someone pushed them, or someone hurt them, and it's just like,

01:34:39.100 --> 01:34:40.800
they should all get red cards or whatever, you know?

01:34:40.800 --> 01:34:42.700
They should all be ejected out of the game.

01:34:42.700 --> 01:34:46.500
But it's just like, seriously, we don't want the roughhousing,

01:34:46.500 --> 01:34:49.400
we don't want the running, we should be careful.

01:34:49.400 --> 01:34:50.000
Obviously, they're...

01:34:50.100 --> 01:34:53.500
There's older people here, there's women that are pregnant.

01:34:53.500 --> 01:34:54.900
I mean, have you seen the pregnant list?

01:34:54.900 --> 01:34:55.900
Yeah.

01:34:55.900 --> 01:34:56.900
It's a lot.

01:34:56.900 --> 01:35:00.300
Like, I don't even remember every time when someone's pregnant or not.

01:35:01.100 --> 01:35:02.840
And we don't even always know.

01:35:02.840 --> 01:35:04.980
Some people don't even necessarily broadcast it,

01:35:04.980 --> 01:35:07.140
and they could be potentially expecting.

01:35:07.140 --> 01:35:10.540
So we want to be careful that we're not injuring people.

01:35:10.540 --> 01:35:11.740
We have a space.

01:35:11.740 --> 01:35:14.940
Look, I would love to have a larger church building,

01:35:14.940 --> 01:35:17.380
and I would love to have a dedicated playground

01:35:17.380 --> 01:35:21.520
that the kids could go run and jump at, but we don't.

01:35:21.520 --> 01:35:22.660
I'm sorry.

01:35:22.660 --> 01:35:24.220
You know, I'd love to have one at my house.

01:35:24.220 --> 01:35:25.020
I don't.

01:35:25.700 --> 01:35:29.380
But you know, we don't we don't want to let them just trash our furniture and trash our house

01:35:29.780 --> 01:35:33.780
Just because they want to have a playground in there. We don't want to do that in the house of god

01:35:33.860 --> 01:35:37.460
We don't want to do that in church. We want to behave ourselves and be appropriate

01:35:37.620 --> 01:35:40.180
You know the bible says let all things be done decently and in order

01:35:41.460 --> 01:35:44.440
I want to go to proverbs 22 just flip back a little bit

01:35:46.200 --> 01:35:49.800
You know, the Bible says God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints.

01:35:49.800 --> 01:35:53.900
I mean, can you imagine going to the Old Testament temple and letting your kids just run around

01:35:53.900 --> 01:35:59.300
and pull on the curtains and just do cartwheels and just wrestle and throw stuff?

01:35:59.300 --> 01:36:02.500
I mean, just like, just pick up the incense and throw it around.

01:36:02.900 --> 01:36:04.740
I mean, but you know, you come to church here,

01:36:04.740 --> 01:36:07.380
and it's just like throwing stuff around.

01:36:07.380 --> 01:36:10.180
I mean, it's just like a party at the water fountain.

01:36:10.180 --> 01:36:11.940
I usually find there's like five cups

01:36:11.940 --> 01:36:14.180
just in the water fountain with water.

01:36:14.180 --> 01:36:14.860
And I'm just thinking like,

01:36:14.860 --> 01:36:16.420
I don't even know what's going on here, you know?

01:36:16.420 --> 01:36:18.220
It's just like, we're just filling up

01:36:18.220 --> 01:36:20.460
poor offerings or something, I don't know.

01:36:21.000 --> 01:36:23.200
Like, what's happening?

01:36:23.200 --> 01:36:25.440
And hey, I get it, we want to keep the church available

01:36:25.440 --> 01:36:26.280
for everybody.

01:36:26.280 --> 01:36:28.580
If people want to have lunch, or they want a fellowship,

01:36:28.580 --> 01:36:29.420
that's fine.

01:36:29.420 --> 01:36:32.220
But you know, don't just like go hide in a corner

01:36:32.220 --> 01:36:34.580
and let your kids just run, you know,

01:36:34.580 --> 01:36:36.580
and wreck havoc everywhere.

01:36:36.580 --> 01:36:39.300
Chips everywhere, and popsicles everywhere,

01:36:39.300 --> 01:36:41.700
and candy everywhere, and popcorn, and whatever.

01:36:41.700 --> 01:36:43.100
It's not Logan's Roadhouse.

01:36:43.100 --> 01:36:44.300
Yeah.

01:36:44.300 --> 01:36:47.000
We're not like, please throw the peanuts on the floor.

01:36:47.600 --> 01:36:52.000
Okay, it's like hey, why don't you clean up after yourself and here's the thing

01:36:52.000 --> 01:36:57.860
I get like you're all I can clean up later. Just don't even let it happen. Just do some damage control. Yeah

01:36:58.840 --> 01:37:02.860
You know make sure your kids are well behaved that they're not running around

01:37:02.860 --> 01:37:09.500
They're not left just unattended and of course a lot of the parents that do watch their kids will continue watching their kids

01:37:09.500 --> 01:37:12.700
And the ones that don't care what I'm saying will continue to not care what I'm saying

01:37:14.100 --> 01:37:16.500
But care, please, okay?

01:37:16.500 --> 01:37:18.500
And of course, you know, our ushers and others,

01:37:18.500 --> 01:37:19.800
sometimes they help us.

01:37:19.800 --> 01:37:22.200
Don't get mad at them if they're just trying to keep

01:37:22.200 --> 01:37:24.500
the house of God in order, okay?

01:37:24.500 --> 01:37:26.200
And you know, here's another thing we should all do,

01:37:26.200 --> 01:37:27.600
Proverbs 22 verse 15.

01:37:27.600 --> 01:37:29.800
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child,

01:37:29.800 --> 01:37:32.200
but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

01:37:32.200 --> 01:37:35.100
You know, we all need to be disciplining our kids physically.

01:37:35.300 --> 01:37:38.100
on a regular basis so they're well behaved.

01:37:38.100 --> 01:37:40.140
And you'll kind of notice a pattern.

01:37:40.140 --> 01:37:43.580
It seems like parents that are not watching their kids

01:37:43.580 --> 01:37:45.540
and the kids that are really rowdy,

01:37:45.540 --> 01:37:47.620
I can only speculate, but it seems like they're the ones

01:37:47.620 --> 01:37:50.620
probably not applying the rod very often either.

01:37:50.620 --> 01:37:53.340
And so, you know, we need to do all of it.

01:37:53.340 --> 01:37:55.260
You know, we need to be watching our kids,

01:37:55.260 --> 01:37:56.780
we need to be telling them no,

01:37:56.780 --> 01:37:58.580
and we need to be physically disciplining them

01:37:58.580 --> 01:37:59.420
because they're gonna be foolish.

01:37:59.420 --> 01:38:00.260
And you know what?

01:38:00.260 --> 01:38:01.980
I'm not really that shocked.

01:38:02.200 --> 01:38:04.040
when kids act silly.

01:38:04.040 --> 01:38:06.680
I'm not really that shocked when kids want to wrestle

01:38:06.680 --> 01:38:09.400
and run around and scream and yell and get excited

01:38:09.400 --> 01:38:11.160
and whatever, that's being a kid.

01:38:11.160 --> 01:38:13.200
And look, they're doing great during the service.

01:38:13.200 --> 01:38:14.680
I know you can do it.

01:38:14.680 --> 01:38:16.240
And I've preached some really long sermons.

01:38:16.240 --> 01:38:18.240
I know you can do it even past the sermon.

01:38:18.240 --> 01:38:19.720
Okay, but you know what?

01:38:19.720 --> 01:38:21.960
I'm not saying you have to be completely quiet.

01:38:21.960 --> 01:38:24.640
We're not trying to be a library here after the service,

01:38:24.640 --> 01:38:25.480
but you know what?

01:38:25.480 --> 01:38:27.000
We shouldn't be a jungle gym either.

01:38:27.500 --> 01:38:29.900
And I think we all know there's a difference between those things.

01:38:29.900 --> 01:38:32.620
We should behave, we should treat the house of God with respect.

01:38:32.620 --> 01:38:37.900
And look, you should want this to be you, not just here, everywhere.

01:38:37.900 --> 01:38:41.060
When you're invited to someone's house, you should want this to be the case.

01:38:41.060 --> 01:38:44.100
You don't want them to be like, I don't want to invite them back again because they tore

01:38:44.100 --> 01:38:45.100
up my house.

01:38:45.100 --> 01:38:48.620
Or those kids never listen, or these kids are too difficult to be around, so I don't

01:38:48.620 --> 01:38:49.620
want to invite them over.

01:38:49.620 --> 01:38:52.100
I like them, but I just don't want to be around them.

01:38:52.700 --> 01:38:57.220
because they're just too, they're too lax in their parenting and it makes it

01:38:57.220 --> 01:39:00.500
unpleasant. You don't want to go to the restaurant, you know, I'll be honest with

01:39:00.500 --> 01:39:05.580
you. We go to the restaurant and you see how big my family is, we get a lot of bad

01:39:05.580 --> 01:39:09.140
looks when we first walk in and it's because people are just prejudging us.

01:39:09.140 --> 01:39:10.500
They're just thinking like...

01:39:10.500 --> 01:39:12.140
Oh, here we go.

01:39:12.140 --> 01:39:13.740
Oh, they're going to be awful.

01:39:13.740 --> 01:39:15.380
Or we have to sit by the kid table.

01:39:15.380 --> 01:39:17.540
You know, usually they're putting us in the back corner

01:39:17.540 --> 01:39:19.880
by where the waiter entrance is or something,

01:39:19.880 --> 01:39:22.140
or like off somewhere, because they're just like,

01:39:22.140 --> 01:39:24.540
they're like, oh, it's going to be the kid table or whatever.

01:39:24.540 --> 01:39:26.140
But then, like, by the end of the meal,

01:39:26.140 --> 01:39:28.220
everybody's, like, coming up complimenting us or whatever.

01:39:28.220 --> 01:39:30.700
I guess they're, like, shocked that, you know,

01:39:30.700 --> 01:39:33.620
our kids can actually be quiet without a tablet

01:39:33.620 --> 01:39:34.620
or something like that.

01:39:35.700 --> 01:39:39.500
But you know, we don't want to be the stereotype that's just like,

01:39:39.500 --> 01:39:42.700
oh, look at all these big families that can't manage their kids,

01:39:42.700 --> 01:39:45.500
can't dress their kids, their kids can't behave,

01:39:45.500 --> 01:39:47.300
their kids are a train wreck.

01:39:47.300 --> 01:39:51.100
Because then we're just discouraging people from having a lot of kids.

01:39:51.100 --> 01:39:53.700
You know, I want people to say like, wow,

01:39:53.700 --> 01:39:56.600
your seven kids are better than my one.

01:39:56.600 --> 01:39:58.100
Meaning it's not the number.

01:39:58.500 --> 01:40:02.100
There's something else that's the main, you know, impact here.

01:40:02.100 --> 01:40:07.300
And unfortunately we live in a society where we're trying to excuse the reason for women not have kids,

01:40:07.300 --> 01:40:12.500
and we should be doing the opposite. We should be a poster for having kids.

01:40:16.900 --> 01:40:20.340
I want to go to one more go to Luke chapter 2 go to Luke chapter 2 this last verse I'll have you go to

01:40:22.340 --> 01:40:24.340
You know I

01:40:24.500 --> 01:40:26.500
it's sad, but

01:40:26.620 --> 01:40:29.580
we were out me and my wife and all the kids and

01:40:30.260 --> 01:40:34.980
We were in a furniture store, and we were leaving we're leaving the furniture store

01:40:35.700 --> 01:40:42.620
And there's a lady with one cop one child, and I don't know the age three four five somewhere in that range

01:40:43.200 --> 01:40:47.100
And it was near like a Ferris wheel, like you could see it.

01:40:47.200 --> 01:40:49.000
And he's like, hey, can we do the Ferris wheel?

01:40:49.100 --> 01:40:50.940
And she's just like, no.

01:40:51.040 --> 01:40:52.340
She's like, we're not doing that.

01:40:52.440 --> 01:40:56.080
I'm more likely to drive off a cliff than take you to that.

01:40:56.180 --> 01:40:59.940
And I'm just like, what in the world kind of society

01:41:00.040 --> 01:41:04.420
do we live in where a mom is saying something like that

01:41:04.520 --> 01:41:05.220
to her kid?

01:41:05.320 --> 01:41:06.020
And she has one.

01:41:06.900 --> 01:41:11.540
And I'm thinking, you know, me and my wife, we always like reminisce when we had like three kids

01:41:12.100 --> 01:41:18.660
or two kids. We were like, man, how easy it was, man. How like it was carefree. I mean, to have one

01:41:18.660 --> 01:41:23.780
kid, like I can't even like, even like even one of some of our hardest kids, we have a few kids that

01:41:23.780 --> 01:41:29.780
are harder than others. Okay. But like the one kid that's difficult when I just have only him,

01:41:29.780 --> 01:41:31.780
it's awesome. Like it's not even a problem.

01:41:32.400 --> 01:41:37.900
It's just, it's usually that you can't give him as much attention when there's all of him, or he's the instigator, or whatever.

01:41:37.900 --> 01:41:42.100
But usually when you just have one kid, it's just like, dang, this is like, fun.

01:41:42.100 --> 01:41:44.000
This is easy, okay?

01:41:44.000 --> 01:41:49.400
But unfortunately, our society has gotten so weird that they think just even one kid,

01:41:49.400 --> 01:41:52.200
you know, is somehow so awful and so difficult.

01:41:52.200 --> 01:41:55.300
That's just being a really selfish person.

01:41:55.300 --> 01:42:00.200
It's a really gross person. And look, you're not having postpartum when they're five years old, okay?

01:42:01.700 --> 01:42:03.700
Can we stop with that nonsense?

01:42:03.700 --> 01:42:04.200
Yeah.

01:42:04.200 --> 01:42:04.700
Okay.

01:42:05.400 --> 01:42:10.300
When they're five, I think you finally stop that that era or whatever.

01:42:10.800 --> 01:42:15.700
But you know, as a kid, you know, what would a what would a kid look like if he was being well behaved?

01:42:15.900 --> 01:42:17.900
Well, what if we just look to Jesus as our example?

01:42:18.800 --> 01:42:21.500
Luke chapter two, look at verse.

01:42:21.800 --> 01:42:24.760
46 and it came to pass that after three days they found him in the temple

01:42:25.160 --> 01:42:27.560
Sitting in the midst of the doctors both hearing them and asking the questions

01:42:27.880 --> 01:42:34.680
Jesus isn't going around causing a ruckus in the house of god. He's sitting down quietly asking questions wanting to learn

01:42:35.160 --> 01:42:37.160
Taking church seriously. Hey, you know

01:42:38.040 --> 01:42:41.260
As you get older in church, don't just be sitting here coloring

01:42:42.300 --> 01:42:46.280
Looking on your parents phone. You know you should be doing as a kid should be paying attention

01:42:46.660 --> 01:42:53.140
Maybe taking notes and look it's if Jesus is the one doing that. How about the men? How about the hey?

01:42:53.140 --> 01:42:59.780
I'm pro you taking notes in church and look I don't think you have to necessarily get out a pen and paper or whatever

01:42:59.780 --> 01:43:02.260
Hey, if you want to write down a note on your phone go for it

01:43:02.260 --> 01:43:07.780
I do that all the time when I'm listening to sermons and something hits me or strikes a quarter whatever I'll write down

01:43:07.780 --> 01:43:09.300
You know that thought

01:43:09.400 --> 01:43:14.600
Hey, you guys that want to get better at preaching and you come up with a sermon idea, write it down.

01:43:14.600 --> 01:43:18.520
Hey, if you want to take physical notes, go for it. I'm for that too. I'm just saying like,

01:43:18.520 --> 01:43:22.440
hey, when something strikes a chord or you remember something, write it down.

01:43:22.440 --> 01:43:26.520
Bring it up throughout the week. You know, Jesus is thinking about, you know, we should take church

01:43:26.520 --> 01:43:31.160
seriously. This is an opportunity to learn. Don't just let it all just go in one ear and out the

01:43:31.160 --> 01:43:33.800
other. This is not an opportunity to take a nap.

01:43:34.700 --> 01:43:40.300
Hey, you young teenagers, the decisions you're going to be making are going to affect the rest of your life.

01:43:40.300 --> 01:43:40.800
Yeah.

01:43:41.800 --> 01:43:46.500
Whether you're lazy, whether you work hard, whether you do a savings, whether you do retirement,

01:43:46.500 --> 01:43:50.700
whether you not do retirement, who you date, who you don't date, who you think of marrying,

01:43:50.700 --> 01:43:54.800
who you're not going to marry, what kind of education you pursue, what kind of career you pursue.

01:43:54.800 --> 01:43:58.700
Like, everything you're doing right now is going to impact almost the rest of your life.

01:43:58.700 --> 01:44:00.300
You should be taking it seriously.

01:44:01.700 --> 01:44:07.700
and considering it and not just not just have to go to church or whatever

01:44:07.700 --> 01:44:11.700
hey learn something right that's that's the behaving yourself in church is learning

01:44:11.700 --> 01:44:17.140
yes paying attention learning growing implementing hey you're gonna have verses come to mind you're

01:44:17.140 --> 01:44:22.260
gonna have applications come to mind you write them down you think about them you pray about them

01:44:22.260 --> 01:44:25.780
you implement them you know how can you go home and search the scriptures daily whether those

01:44:25.780 --> 01:44:27.620
things are so when you don't even remember what the sermon is about

01:44:28.800 --> 01:44:32.800
And I'll just be honest, like, it does bother me.

01:44:32.800 --> 01:44:34.640
I'll just be honest with you, it bothers me.

01:44:34.640 --> 01:44:35.840
When you ask somebody like,

01:44:35.840 --> 01:44:37.680
hey, what was the sermon about?

01:44:37.680 --> 01:44:39.280
And they're like, I don't remember anything about the sermon.

01:44:39.280 --> 01:44:40.080
Wow.

01:44:41.360 --> 01:44:43.680
You know, I mean, it was an hour and a half.

01:44:43.680 --> 01:44:44.800
I mean, you didn't remember anything?

01:44:44.800 --> 01:44:48.000
It's like, or it's just like,

01:44:48.960 --> 01:44:51.520
one time you said something about beans and chili, it was funny.

01:44:51.520 --> 01:44:54.880
You know, it's like, okay, thanks.

01:44:55.700 --> 01:45:00.140
You know, maybe like think about something in the sermon and meditate on it a little

01:45:00.140 --> 01:45:01.140
bit.

01:45:01.140 --> 01:45:03.260
You know, walk away with at least one thing.

01:45:03.260 --> 01:45:04.260
Okay?

01:45:04.260 --> 01:45:06.220
That's how we should behave as a church.

01:45:06.220 --> 01:45:08.580
We don't want to be a church where we walk away and we forget everything we hear.

01:45:08.580 --> 01:45:10.540
We don't want to be forgetful hearers of the Word.

01:45:10.540 --> 01:45:12.020
We want to be doers of the Word.

01:45:12.020 --> 01:45:15.260
We want to be people that are going home and searching the scriptures whether those things

01:45:15.260 --> 01:45:16.260
are so.

01:45:16.260 --> 01:45:18.780
We want to be men that are going home and having rules for our wives.

01:45:19.300 --> 01:45:22.300
We want to be women, you know, not me, but obviously,

01:45:22.300 --> 01:45:25.860
we want the women of our church to be good examples,

01:45:25.860 --> 01:45:28.900
you know, not going out and usurping authority over the man

01:45:28.900 --> 01:45:31.420
and trying to be a political blowhard.

01:45:31.420 --> 01:45:32.260
But you know what?

01:45:32.260 --> 01:45:34.980
Being sober, being meek, being quiet,

01:45:34.980 --> 01:45:35.940
you know, being a good example,

01:45:35.940 --> 01:45:38.780
loving their husbands, loving their children.

01:45:38.780 --> 01:45:39.620
You know what?

01:45:39.620 --> 01:45:40.980
We want the children to care about their lives

01:45:40.980 --> 01:45:43.540
and be serious, pay attention to the service,

01:45:43.540 --> 01:45:44.900
and before and after the service,

01:45:44.900 --> 01:45:46.580
not acting like hooligans.

01:45:47.300 --> 01:45:48.800
Treating the church with respect.

01:45:48.800 --> 01:45:49.300
And you know what?

01:45:49.300 --> 01:45:51.140
We need the parents to help with that.

01:45:51.140 --> 01:45:54.100
You know, please take care of your kids in the church.

01:45:54.100 --> 01:45:57.860
Let's just, you know, hey, at lunch, don't be wild.

01:45:57.860 --> 01:45:58.780
Don't be messy.

01:45:58.780 --> 01:45:59.660
Don't be running.

01:45:59.660 --> 01:46:01.300
Don't be crawling on the floor.

01:46:01.300 --> 01:46:02.940
Don't be getting cups so you don't need it.

01:46:02.940 --> 01:46:04.380
Don't mess with all the soul-wetting materials.

01:46:04.380 --> 01:46:05.180
Don't be wrestling.

01:46:05.180 --> 01:46:06.300
Don't be roughhousing.

01:46:06.300 --> 01:46:08.220
You know, let's behave ourselves,

01:46:08.220 --> 01:46:11.140
and let's be appropriate, and let's treat this institution

01:46:11.140 --> 01:46:12.220
as a house of God.

01:46:12.900 --> 01:46:17.900
and house of learning, and house of prayer, and house of focused, serious attention to

01:46:17.900 --> 01:46:18.900
the things of God.

01:46:18.900 --> 01:46:19.900
Let's close in prayer.

01:46:19.900 --> 01:46:20.900
Thank you, Heavenly Father, so much for our church.

01:46:20.900 --> 01:46:24.700
Thank you so much for the men and the women and the children in this room.

01:46:24.700 --> 01:46:28.860
I pray that we take all of our roles in our job seriously, that we take church seriously,

01:46:28.860 --> 01:46:30.700
we take our Bible seriously.

01:46:30.700 --> 01:46:33.740
I pray that you'd help us to learn during the sermons.

01:46:34.200 --> 01:46:38.200
to take the instruction as something that we should apply in our lives.

01:46:38.200 --> 01:46:42.700
I pray that you would help the men to rule over their families and have rules and to enforce those rules.

01:46:42.700 --> 01:46:45.200
I pray that you would help the women to be submissive to their husbands,

01:46:45.200 --> 01:46:50.200
to love their husbands, to be obedient to their husbands, to be meek and quiet in their homes.

01:46:50.200 --> 01:46:52.200
I pray that you would help them to love their children.

01:46:52.200 --> 01:46:56.200
I pray that you would help the children to love and obey their parents, to do good on their parents.

01:46:56.200 --> 01:46:59.200
I pray that you would help us all pay attention to the things of God

01:46:59.200 --> 01:47:02.200
and respect the church and respect the things of God.

01:47:02.200 --> 01:47:06.200
and that you would continue to bless us. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

01:47:09.500 --> 01:47:13.880
Alright in closing, let's go to song number 20 song number 20

01:47:21.900 --> 01:47:26.480
Song number 20 when I see the blood

01:47:28.500 --> 01:47:30.500
Song number 20, let's all sing that together
