WEBVTT

08:19.500 --> 08:20.500
Return!

12:19.300 --> 12:20.300
We're warming up tonight.

12:20.300 --> 12:21.700
Lift up that chorus a cappella.

12:21.700 --> 12:23.500
Let your voices be heard tonight.

12:23.500 --> 12:26.500
Faith is the victory.

15:51.700 --> 15:55.540
Good afternoon everyone. If we can go ahead and find our seats we will get started with this

15:55.540 --> 16:01.060
afternoon's service. It's great to see everybody here. Once we've found a seat let's grab a

16:01.060 --> 16:05.780
hymnal and let's all go to song number 335.

16:12.000 --> 16:16.200
Song number 335.

16:16.200 --> 16:21.080
If Jesus goes with me, I'll go anywhere.

16:21.080 --> 16:25.480
Song number 335.

16:25.480 --> 16:27.400
Let's all sing that out together.

20:46.000 --> 20:51.000
everybody let's open up the service now with a word of prayer. Lord we love you

20:51.000 --> 20:53.960
so much we just want to thank you for this great church this great opportunity

20:53.960 --> 20:57.040
to serve you thank you for all souls that were one unto you this afternoon

20:57.040 --> 21:00.880
Lord and just the work you're doing with us here we just ask now that you bless

21:00.880 --> 21:03.800
the service and fill us all with your spirit as we sing out unto you and it's

21:03.800 --> 21:08.680
in Jesus name that we pray amen. All right for our next song let's go to

21:08.680 --> 21:13.700
song number 27. 27

21:20.400 --> 21:25.400
an old classic, the old rugged cross, song number 27.

21:26.400 --> 21:31.400
Song number 27, let's all sing that out together.

25:58.400 --> 26:00.000
Thanks for making this at Fast Baptist Church.

26:00.000 --> 26:01.600
If you didn't already get a bulletin, you would like one.

26:01.600 --> 26:03.100
Just lift up your hand nice and high.

26:03.100 --> 26:06.100
One of our ushers can come by and get you guys a bulletin.

26:06.100 --> 26:09.140
We have Philippians 4 for our Bible memory passage,

26:09.140 --> 26:10.660
as well as on the inside.

26:10.660 --> 26:13.180
We have listed our service, soul winning times.

26:13.180 --> 26:14.980
We have our church stats.

26:14.980 --> 26:18.020
If you do have any stats to report or emails or stuff,

26:18.020 --> 26:19.820
just put that in our group chat.

26:19.820 --> 26:21.320
We'll have that recorded on the right.

26:21.320 --> 26:23.940
We have several ladies who are expecting.

26:23.940 --> 26:25.700
We got like 12 already here in the list,

26:25.700 --> 26:26.400
so definitely keep.

26:26.400 --> 26:28.360
keep them in your prayers.

26:28.360 --> 26:30.680
We have a special thing for August.

26:30.680 --> 26:32.280
If you can make all the services in August,

26:32.280 --> 26:33.240
you can get some ice cream.

26:33.240 --> 26:35.680
Make sure you're just filling out that sheet

26:35.680 --> 26:37.800
so that way we can keep a record.

26:37.800 --> 26:40.420
We have upcoming events, a Mexico City missions trip.

26:40.420 --> 26:42.960
So if you're wanting to go on that,

26:42.960 --> 26:46.280
see Brother Diego and he can help you with that.

26:46.280 --> 26:48.320
We also have a Mesquite, Texas,

26:48.320 --> 26:50.000
so winning marathon August 22nd.

26:50.200 --> 26:54.920
Barbados missions trip September 7th through the 12th. So if you're interested

26:54.920 --> 26:59.600
in that and you haven't already signed up please let us know right away so that

26:59.600 --> 27:04.520
way we can be prepared. We have September 20th a special guest pastor

27:04.520 --> 27:08.560
Matthew Stuckey is going to be preaching for us both services. Please I highly

27:08.560 --> 27:10.200
encourage you to attend both of those.

27:10.600 --> 27:13.000
We had the Heritage of the Lord conference in October.

27:13.000 --> 27:17.800
Our Mighty Men's conference, instead of going out to a special retreat area,

27:17.800 --> 27:21.640
this year we're going to do it in-house. So we're just going to do it at the church building.

27:21.640 --> 27:25.800
The main motivation was just so that more people could participate this year.

27:26.360 --> 27:31.480
And it'll be Friday night. We'll be having Pastor Steven Anderson come out and preach for us.

27:31.480 --> 27:34.760
I'll be grilling some steaks and just kind of hanging out, having some fellowship.

27:34.760 --> 27:38.520
We'll still do our activities and stuff on that Saturday if you'd like to join us for those as well.

27:38.600 --> 27:42.600
So participate in as much as you would like to.

27:42.600 --> 27:44.600
Faith Award is having a preaching boot camp in November.

27:44.600 --> 27:48.600
It's at Faith Award Baptist Church, so that's in Tempe, Arizona, November 12th through the 14th.

27:48.600 --> 27:52.600
And then we have the Philippines missions trip in 2027.

27:52.600 --> 27:56.600
On the back is our prayer list. Please keep everyone in your prayers.

27:56.600 --> 28:01.600
There should be a few QR codes. Hopefully, if you want to register, you can use those to sign up.

28:01.600 --> 28:03.600
That's really all I have as far as announcements.

28:03.600 --> 28:06.600
We're going to sing our psalm of the week. It's where the spirit blows.

28:06.600 --> 28:10.180
in our psalm books, where the spirit blows.

28:10.180 --> 28:11.400
Sing it out nice and loud.

28:23.600 --> 28:29.100
Alright, that was Where the Spirit Blows. You can find that in page number 39 in your song booklet.

28:31.500 --> 28:35.500
Song number 39, Where the Spirit Blows.

28:35.500 --> 28:37.500
If you know it well, sing it out.

28:37.500 --> 28:39.500
Here at this point, if you remember how it goes,

28:39.500 --> 28:43.500
Where the Spirit Blows. Let's all sing it out together.

28:43.500 --> 28:47.400
Jesus will be your friend.

30:34.900 --> 30:39.340
open up our Bibles to the book of 1st Timothy chapter number 4 as the offering plates are

30:39.340 --> 30:40.980
being passed around.

30:40.980 --> 30:43.980
That's 1st Timothy chapter number 4.

31:39.700 --> 31:42.200
1 Timothy chapter number four, the Bible says,

31:42.200 --> 31:45.620
Now the spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times

31:45.620 --> 31:49.140
some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing

31:49.140 --> 31:53.500
spirits and doctrines of devils, speaking lies and hypocrisy,

31:53.500 --> 31:57.100
having their conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to

31:57.100 --> 32:00.660
marry and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath

32:00.660 --> 32:04.320
created to be received with thanksgiving of them which

32:04.320 --> 32:06.020
believe and know the truth.

32:06.300 --> 32:12.700
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused if it be received with thanksgiving.

32:12.700 --> 32:15.900
For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

32:15.900 --> 32:22.460
If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ,

32:22.460 --> 32:27.660
nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine whereunto thou hast attained.

32:27.660 --> 32:33.900
But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

32:34.800 --> 32:40.960
for bodily exercise profiteth little, but godliness is profitable unto all things,

32:40.960 --> 32:45.280
having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

32:46.640 --> 32:49.760
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation.

32:50.320 --> 32:55.840
For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God,

32:55.840 --> 32:59.600
who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe.

33:01.100 --> 33:07.900
These things command and teach. Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the believers

33:07.900 --> 33:15.020
in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to

33:15.020 --> 33:21.980
reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by

33:22.540 --> 33:25.980
prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery."

33:26.500 --> 33:32.500
Meditate upon these things, give thyself holy to them, that thy profiting may appear to all.

33:32.500 --> 33:41.500
Take heed unto thyself and unto the doctrine, continuing them, for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself and them that hear thee.

33:41.500 --> 33:42.500
Let us pray.

33:42.500 --> 33:46.500
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for this day. Thank you for Steadfast Baptist Church.

33:46.900 --> 33:49.020
Thank you for the souls that were saved today.

33:49.020 --> 33:52.420
I want to pray and ask you to please bless our people in Mexico City.

33:52.420 --> 33:56.660
Please bless that mission strip and please help them to have good success.

33:56.660 --> 33:59.060
Please bless Pastor Shelley now as he preaches your word to us.

33:59.060 --> 34:00.540
Please remove distractions.

34:00.540 --> 34:01.820
Help us to learn and be better Christians.

34:01.820 --> 34:02.820
In Jesus' name, amen.

34:02.820 --> 34:03.820
Amen.

34:03.820 --> 34:05.860
I want to look back at verse 12.

34:05.860 --> 34:09.540
The Bible says, let no man despise thy youth.

34:10.000 --> 34:19.000
But be thou an example of the believers in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

34:19.400 --> 34:26.400
So now this is an admonition of course to a pastor and this is to young Timothy as the Bible would indicate.

34:26.400 --> 34:30.400
He's a youth according to the Bible. What is that age? I don't know, but he's younger.

34:30.400 --> 34:34.400
And the Bible is telling him though to be thou an example.

34:34.400 --> 34:38.400
And really that's kind of the title of my sermon is just to be a good example.

34:38.400 --> 34:41.400
And being a good example I think...

34:41.900 --> 34:43.500
There's a lot of elements to it.

34:43.500 --> 34:46.700
Of course, there's a lot of ways that we should be an example.

34:46.700 --> 34:50.780
But I think in some ways, being an example is often doing something that other people

34:50.780 --> 34:51.780
are not doing.

34:52.200 --> 34:59.700
You know, to be an example is not following because you're really more of a follower than setting an example being a leader.

34:59.700 --> 35:10.200
So I really look at this passage as a commandment to be a leader, to do things that other people are not doing and to set yourself apart in doing good.

35:10.700 --> 35:13.500
It's very easy to set yourself apart in doing evil,

35:13.500 --> 35:16.940
but it's much more difficult to be a good example

35:16.940 --> 35:20.060
and to do what's right, to oppose evil,

35:20.060 --> 35:23.980
to oppose wickedness, to not necessarily go with the crowd

35:23.980 --> 35:25.820
or go with the stream, go with the flow,

35:25.820 --> 35:28.780
but rather to set a good example and be different.

35:28.780 --> 35:34.540
And in this world, unfortunately, evil is just abounding.

35:34.540 --> 35:37.500
The Bible says that the whole world lies in darkness.

35:38.200 --> 35:43.000
And so unfortunately we just see just so much corruption in our government.

35:43.000 --> 35:45.400
We see so much corruption in the world.

35:45.400 --> 35:49.000
We just see so many evildoers and so many bad things.

35:49.000 --> 35:52.800
And you kind of sometimes get what I would call black-pilled on humanity,

35:52.800 --> 35:55.600
or you kind of lose faith in humanity as a whole.

35:55.600 --> 36:01.800
But the thing is, is what's to help us is for some people to step up and be a good example.

36:02.000 --> 36:06.400
And you know that's what we need. We need more people to be a good example and not just pastors.

36:06.400 --> 36:11.280
I believe that this of course is an admonition to pastors but that we need other people to be examples.

36:11.280 --> 36:16.560
And notice Timothy doesn't even have to be a older person to be a good example. He's a young person

36:16.560 --> 36:22.960
and yet he can be a good example. And I think that everyone in this room should strive to be a good

36:22.960 --> 36:29.840
example for their peers. And whether you realize it or not there are people looking to you and how you behave.

36:30.000 --> 36:37.000
and how you perform and you are in some ways influencing many people that you don't even

36:37.000 --> 36:40.840
realize, let alone the people that you should probably realize that you're influencing,

36:40.840 --> 36:44.780
whether that be your family, your spouse, your friends, your church.

36:44.780 --> 36:49.040
Many of us are greatly influenced by the people around us and when we see good examples, it

36:49.040 --> 36:54.920
can inspire other people to do better and to do good as well and to follow like suit.

36:55.200 --> 36:59.800
You know, the counter is just as true where people are setting a bad example, where a

36:59.800 --> 37:02.720
lot of people follow that bad example as well.

37:02.720 --> 37:06.360
But I really want to give you the admonition to try and be a good example.

37:06.360 --> 37:11.640
Of course, in this context we have in word, meaning, you know, I believe you could look

37:11.640 --> 37:13.160
at this as the Word of God.

37:13.160 --> 37:16.160
You could also just look at this in His Word, you know, what He says, the things that He

37:16.160 --> 37:17.920
says is He's a good example.

37:17.920 --> 37:20.600
You know, preaching the right things, preaching the right doctrines, preaching the Word of

37:20.600 --> 37:22.240
God faithfully.

37:22.240 --> 37:23.200
conversation this is

37:23.200 --> 37:27.780
Typically what we think of as lifestyle, not necessarily your words, but really just the

37:27.780 --> 37:31.460
manner of life, how you carry yourself, the decisions that you're making.

37:31.460 --> 37:33.140
In charity, this is your love.

37:33.140 --> 37:34.440
Charity is how you love other people.

37:34.440 --> 37:39.860
So being an example of loving other people, doing good unto other people, in spirit, of

37:39.860 --> 37:47.100
course, you know, having the right attitude towards the things of God, having a Holy Spirit,

37:47.100 --> 37:51.180
innocence, the leading of the Spirit of God, and of course in faith.

37:51.200 --> 37:54.200
Trusting God when you can't see it, it doesn't make sense.

37:54.200 --> 37:59.200
Believing God's Word when you don't necessarily see it happening,

37:59.200 --> 38:00.200
but you're trusting God.

38:00.200 --> 38:05.200
And then in purity, keeping yourself, you know, pure from the evils of this world,

38:05.200 --> 38:06.200
from the wickedness of this world.

38:06.200 --> 38:08.200
So there's a lot of different ways that we can apply this.

38:08.200 --> 38:11.200
But I want to look at a few more examples before we dive into our application.

38:11.200 --> 38:13.200
Go to Philippians chapter 3.

38:13.200 --> 38:15.200
So you're going to go back to the left, just a hair.

38:15.200 --> 38:19.200
Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, chapter number 3.

38:19.200 --> 38:21.600
And I want to look at verse 17.

38:25.600 --> 38:26.600
Brethren...

38:29.400 --> 38:34.400
Be followers together of me, and mark them which walk,

38:34.400 --> 38:37.700
so you have us for an ensemble."

38:37.700 --> 38:41.700
So, the King James Bible occasionally uses this little

38:41.700 --> 38:43.900
bit different word, ensemble.

38:43.900 --> 38:46.500
It's the same thing as we think of example, okay?

38:46.500 --> 38:48.900
It's just worded, it's just spelled differently,

38:48.900 --> 38:50.700
but it's basically the same thing.

38:50.700 --> 38:54.400
And notice he's saying, hey, some people we have to point

38:54.400 --> 38:56.200
out are bad.

38:56.500 --> 38:59.000
so that you can make sure you follow us,

38:59.000 --> 39:01.600
because we are the good example,

39:01.600 --> 39:03.600
they're the bad example.

39:03.700 --> 39:09.100
Of course, in the context here, the Apostle Paul is talking about the unsaved Jews.

39:09.100 --> 39:14.200
So the unsaved Jews in the synagogues at their time, these are bad examples.

39:14.200 --> 39:20.200
These Judaizers, people trying to lead the Christians astray into believing work,

39:20.200 --> 39:24.100
salvation, believing and following the commandments to get to heaven.

39:24.100 --> 39:29.100
You know, their judicial system that is corrupted, where they are hypocrites and

39:29.100 --> 39:31.600
they have all these man-made traditions that go against...

39:31.700 --> 39:38.300
the things of God. He's saying, hey, we got to mark these people or even Christians that

39:38.300 --> 39:43.220
have been in their churches and have apostatized or started speaking perverse things to draw

39:43.220 --> 39:48.260
away disciples after themselves. Hey, we have to mark those people so that you know, hey,

39:48.260 --> 39:54.340
you need to follow us, right? Be followers together of me and mark them which walk.

39:54.800 --> 39:56.640
So, as you have us for an example.

39:56.640 --> 40:00.160
Now, again, in the context of Philippians 3, notice what it says in verse 2.

40:00.900 --> 40:07.700
Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision, for we are the circumcision.

40:07.700 --> 40:12.900
So Philippians 3's context is mainly about Jews, if you realize kind of what he's saying here,

40:12.900 --> 40:18.500
because the concision is talking about those who have been circumcised physically,

40:18.500 --> 40:23.620
but not spiritually, not in their heart. And so he's warning, hey, be aware of these dogs.

40:23.620 --> 40:28.900
He's not talking about literal animals, you know, Fido or a Chihuahua.

40:28.900 --> 40:32.500
or a pit bull, he's calling people dogs.

40:32.500 --> 40:36.100
Now that's a pretty derogatory term, but unfortunately there are people that are

40:36.100 --> 40:37.140
way worse than dogs.

40:37.800 --> 40:40.100
There are people that are more evil than animals.

40:40.100 --> 40:43.600
And they act like animals in the sense they seem to have no conscience,

40:43.600 --> 40:47.500
that they're ferocious, that they act beastly.

40:47.500 --> 40:52.800
And so he's just saying, hey, beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the Concision.

40:52.800 --> 40:57.600
Okay? And we need to mark those people and warn against those people,

40:57.600 --> 40:59.300
and you need to follow us.

40:59.300 --> 41:02.700
We are the good example. The Apostle Paul is saying, I'm a good example.

41:02.700 --> 41:03.400
Now...

41:03.700 --> 41:05.900
Here's what's funny. If anybody actually got up today said,

41:05.900 --> 41:09.400
hey, I'm a good example, what do they call that person?

41:09.400 --> 41:12.900
Prideful, exactly. It's just like, oh man, you're just so prideful.

41:12.900 --> 41:14.900
You think you're a good example.

41:14.900 --> 41:18.100
But here's the thing, the apostle Paul's not trying to brag in himself.

41:18.100 --> 41:19.700
He's just saying, look, we are sincere.

41:19.700 --> 41:22.500
We're the legitimate form of Christianity.

41:22.500 --> 41:24.700
You need to be following our example.

41:24.700 --> 41:26.500
And it's not about him though.

41:26.700 --> 41:29.500
He's following Christ. He's following the Word of God.

41:29.500 --> 41:32.000
He's saying, hey, we're a good example, not because I'm a good example,

41:32.000 --> 41:34.800
because this is good and I'm trying to do this, okay?

41:34.800 --> 41:38.100
It's not that He's perfect. It's not that He's trying to glorify Himself.

41:38.100 --> 41:40.900
He's just saying, I recognize this is the right pattern,

41:40.900 --> 41:43.700
and what these people are doing is not the right pattern.

41:43.700 --> 41:47.000
So we need to mark those people and you need to follow us

41:47.000 --> 41:49.600
because we are the example. We're the example.

41:49.600 --> 41:53.400
We're what's good. You need to follow us. You need to be like us.

41:53.600 --> 41:57.000
And let me just explain this. You should be like a new I have be pastor

41:57.380 --> 41:59.560
Because let me tell you some they are the good examples

41:59.560 --> 42:05.600
They are the ones that are zealous for the things of God going soul winning preaching the hard truths of the Bible

42:05.900 --> 42:09.000
Telling you to keep the commandments and look even if one of them was

42:09.680 --> 42:14.440
Imperfect even if they were secretly hypocrite wouldn't matter because your ultimately is following the Bible

42:14.720 --> 42:18.340
And you're just trying to follow people that say they're following the Bible. Okay, that's the whole point

42:19.000 --> 42:23.000
There's no point in following someone that's obviously bad and telling you not to follow the Bible.

42:23.000 --> 42:25.400
You should probably follow the guy that is following the Bible.

42:25.400 --> 42:29.000
Albeit no one's perfect, no one will arrive, no one will always do it right.

42:29.000 --> 42:32.200
You know what? We should follow the Bible and follow those who are following the Bible.

42:32.200 --> 42:37.000
We should follow the Apostle Pauls in our life because he's the one following Christ, okay?

42:37.640 --> 42:42.600
Now, I want to go to 1 Peter chapter 5. Go to 1 Peter chapter number 5.

42:43.900 --> 42:48.300
Notice the Bible's bringing this up a lot about examples or in samples.

42:48.300 --> 42:50.800
People you should be following, people you should be looking up to.

42:50.800 --> 42:53.900
And what's sad in this world is, you know,

42:53.900 --> 42:57.300
help Lord for the godly man ceaseth.

42:57.300 --> 43:00.700
It's sad when there's just very few good examples.

43:00.700 --> 43:04.800
You know, isn't that the, isn't that pretty much what the Bible teaches?

43:04.800 --> 43:07.000
I mean, isn't that what Psalm 12 is teaching?

43:07.000 --> 43:10.200
Help Lord for the godly, it's not saying everyone's godly.

43:10.700 --> 43:14.300
Everyone's good. Everybody's awesome.

43:14.300 --> 43:19.500
We got all these wonderful people and all these wonderful pastors and just everybody's good.

43:19.500 --> 43:23.800
Now the Bible kind of paints the opposite picture that it's like help Lord because there's virtually no one good.

43:23.800 --> 43:28.300
There's just like not very good examples. There's very few options.

43:28.300 --> 43:32.700
You look in the biblical record, I mean you have examples in the Bible where the Bible says God is looking for somebody

43:32.700 --> 43:37.000
and he says I found none. That's pretty sad.

43:37.300 --> 43:42.260
Like, why am I supposed to think like, oh, back then God couldn't find a single person,

43:42.260 --> 43:44.420
but today everyone's good.

43:44.420 --> 43:48.460
Today every pastor's a good guy, and every church is a good guy, and every, it's like,

43:48.460 --> 43:53.180
you know, these, these fake Christians, all of them like each other, and they just hate

43:53.180 --> 43:54.180
us.

43:54.180 --> 43:56.280
Like, we're the only bad Christians, you know.

43:56.280 --> 43:59.580
And it's just like, it's kind of the exact opposite in many cases.

43:59.580 --> 44:01.620
But look at 1 Peter chapter number five, look at verse three.

44:02.800 --> 44:08.200
Talking about pastors neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being in samples to the flock.

44:08.200 --> 44:10.800
So that's why I said it's not always example.

44:10.800 --> 44:16.300
Sometimes it's in sample. Same thing, same word in essence as far as what it's trying to communicate.

44:16.300 --> 44:20.500
And he's trying to say, hey, pastor should be a good example to the flock.

44:20.500 --> 44:25.800
Meaning that their lifestyle, what they're doing should be what you're trying to do.

44:26.000 --> 44:29.160
You know, you think about it, like, even just the qualifications of a pastor, like, that's

44:29.160 --> 44:31.360
kind of what every guy should be trying to do.

44:31.360 --> 44:38.560
Being a good husband, be married, have kids, ruling well, having a good reputation, not

44:38.560 --> 44:39.560
drunk.

44:39.560 --> 44:42.960
I mean, like, pretty much just everything in the qualifications, just being a good Christian,

44:42.960 --> 44:45.360
just being a good person in general.

44:45.360 --> 44:49.160
The pastor's supposed to do the work of an evangelist so that the congregation will what?

44:49.160 --> 44:51.080
Do evangelism, go out and preach the gospel.

44:51.080 --> 44:54.000
So, you know, a pastor should be someone that's evangelizing.

44:54.000 --> 44:59.360
going on missions trips, loving the lost, trying to get people saved, preaching the gospel.

44:59.360 --> 45:02.400
You know, how many pastors a day never give the gospel to anybody?

45:03.040 --> 45:06.480
You know, it's kind of sad. It's like that's not a good example.

45:07.120 --> 45:10.880
You know, you have churches and you have whole movements of religion

45:10.880 --> 45:12.640
where the pastor's not even married.

45:14.000 --> 45:19.520
How is a guy that's not married supposed to get up and all educate us on marriage?

45:20.200 --> 45:23.500
Now, I know there's some guys out there that think they can, okay?

45:23.500 --> 45:27.500
I know there's a lot of single guys out there that are the greatest husbands that have ever walked the planet,

45:27.500 --> 45:34.900
but, you know, don't you think that they might struggle to understand the nuances of marriage when you've never been married?

45:36.000 --> 45:38.800
Don't you think it would be hard for someone that's never had kids,

45:38.800 --> 45:44.400
has zero kids, to be able to really explain all the difficulties of child raising and just all the different...

45:44.400 --> 45:47.600
I mean, it's kind of absurd to think this guy is our example.

45:47.600 --> 45:51.440
Here's a guy who doesn't go soul-witting, he doesn't have a family, he doesn't have a wife,

45:51.440 --> 45:54.480
yet he's going to tell us all what we're supposed to do.

45:54.480 --> 45:58.560
That's not an example, okay? That's like a bad example.

45:58.560 --> 46:03.680
And so I think why the Bible wants a guy that's married as kids so that he can relate to everyone.

46:03.900 --> 46:12.100
Because if he was lacking in one of those areas, well, he's going to probably lack in being able to essentially help people and empathize in various situations.

46:12.100 --> 46:16.000
And he's there as an example for everybody to kind of follow in general.

46:16.000 --> 46:21.200
Him and his family, of course, because his wife and children are supposed to be in behavior while they're in the church as well.

46:21.200 --> 46:26.400
You want the wife to be sober and not a slanderer, you know, faithful in all things.

46:26.400 --> 46:29.000
And so it's important for them to be setting this good example.

46:29.000 --> 46:31.100
Because many times people...

46:31.400 --> 46:38.920
will, they kind of like set the pastor and his family as like the ultimate bar.

46:39.640 --> 46:43.880
And I don't think that that's necessarily right. I'm just telling you kind of what it is.

46:43.880 --> 46:48.360
Like wherever the pastor's at or his family, it's kind of like where other people will put as their

46:48.360 --> 46:49.200
maximum.

46:49.300 --> 46:50.700
And that's not necessarily right.

46:50.700 --> 46:52.500
You know, and praise God, we have people in our church

46:52.500 --> 46:54.400
that go so many more than I do.

46:54.400 --> 46:57.200
They don't say like, oh, well, I want to max out

46:57.200 --> 46:58.200
at whatever Pastor Shelley's doing.

46:58.200 --> 47:01.300
Or people go on more mission strips than I will.

47:01.300 --> 47:04.200
Or, you know, people have more kids than I do.

47:04.200 --> 47:06.400
People have, you know, like, it's not like you have

47:06.400 --> 47:09.800
to limit yourself to whatever Pastor Shelley does, right?

47:09.800 --> 47:12.900
But in some cases, many people won't even try

47:12.900 --> 47:14.400
to go above that anyways.

47:14.400 --> 47:17.200
So if the pastor's setting a really low example, well,

47:17.300 --> 47:19.500
then it's just not going to challenge the congregation.

47:19.500 --> 47:21.980
And so it's important for the pastor, for the wife,

47:21.980 --> 47:24.020
for the children to set a good example,

47:24.020 --> 47:26.820
to be leading and doing good.

47:26.820 --> 47:28.820
They don't have to be the best, but at least

47:28.820 --> 47:32.380
they're setting a good example so that many people can follow.

47:32.380 --> 47:34.500
And of course, we want other people in the church

47:34.500 --> 47:35.780
to do likewise.

47:35.780 --> 47:37.780
There's people in the church that go soul winning,

47:37.780 --> 47:39.100
and they're an example to me.

47:39.300 --> 47:44.100
They encourage me, they cause me to want to improve or do more or work harder.

47:44.100 --> 47:48.300
There's people in here that do great things for their wife and they are good husband and

47:48.300 --> 47:50.340
it motivates me to be a better husband.

47:50.340 --> 47:54.580
There's wives in here that serve their families and set a good example and encourage me and

47:54.580 --> 47:58.300
my wife and our family to want to do more and help other people.

47:58.300 --> 48:03.180
There's people in here that have great kids that are really respectful and really precocious

48:03.180 --> 48:07.300
and it causes us to be like, man, we want to train our kids to be like their kids.

48:07.300 --> 48:11.980
And you know, it's just good examples are just encouraging other people to be good examples.

48:11.980 --> 48:16.080
And whenever you're setting a bad example or a low example, well, it just kind of, it

48:16.080 --> 48:18.580
causes a lot of people to follow in like footsteps.

48:18.580 --> 48:21.940
So it's important for us to have good examples.

48:21.940 --> 48:26.780
And in many cases, you know, you'll be like your pastor in many ways.

48:26.780 --> 48:28.380
Go to 1st Thessalonians chapter 1.

48:28.380 --> 48:32.540
And one way that I think is really interesting.

48:32.900 --> 48:37.900
It seems like, for the most part, people kind of believe like their pastor.

48:37.900 --> 48:40.400
You know? It's just like, it doesn't matter.

48:40.400 --> 48:43.400
Just people just, everybody just kind of agrees with their pastor.

48:43.400 --> 48:45.400
And the pastor is just always right.

48:45.400 --> 48:48.900
And that's not necessarily true. The pastor isn't necessarily always right.

48:49.900 --> 48:53.400
But as for me, like, in picking a church or where I want to go to church,

48:53.400 --> 48:56.900
I kind of want a church where the pastor is right for the most part.

48:57.300 --> 49:02.140
Because I kind of want my family and me to kind of like be in lockstep.

49:02.140 --> 49:06.580
You know, I don't want it to necessarily be a constant fight or something.

49:06.580 --> 49:09.060
I don't want my kids and me to be at odds.

49:09.060 --> 49:10.460
I even remember growing up in the church.

49:10.460 --> 49:12.420
I was growing up, it was pre-trib.

49:12.420 --> 49:13.620
And my dad was not.

49:13.620 --> 49:14.900
My dad was not pre-trib.

49:14.900 --> 49:20.580
But I kind of would side with my pastor, even though my dad wasn't pre-trib at all.

49:20.800 --> 49:23.800
And, you know, I wish that my dad maybe explained his position.

49:23.800 --> 49:24.800
He was just kind of not pre-tripped.

49:24.800 --> 49:27.800
He wouldn't tell you why or like a verse or something.

49:27.800 --> 49:28.800
He just knew...

49:28.800 --> 49:29.800
He's like, pre-tripped is not in the Bible.

49:29.800 --> 49:31.800
And he's just like, so?

49:31.800 --> 49:32.800
You know, it's like...

49:32.800 --> 49:34.800
But the pastor's saying it, you know, whatever.

49:34.800 --> 49:36.800
And so, like, sometimes it creates this weird conflict.

49:36.800 --> 49:39.800
And, you know, again, if your dad...

49:40.200 --> 49:43.480
says something different, you know, you should take key to what your dad says,

49:43.480 --> 49:46.760
you should listen to your parents, you should consider what they have to say,

49:46.760 --> 49:49.880
but, you know, at the end of the day, the pastor's not always right,

49:49.880 --> 49:51.960
but, you know, hopefully it's not like a constant,

49:51.960 --> 49:55.240
you have to go home and explain why Pastor Shelley's wrong, okay?

49:55.240 --> 49:57.720
If you have to explain why Pastor Shelley's wrong after every sermon,

49:57.720 --> 49:59.720
you might find a different church, okay?

49:59.720 --> 50:04.440
But, you know, hey, if that occasionally has to happen, then go for it.

50:04.440 --> 50:07.400
But, you know, you kind of want to go to a church where you look up to the pastor,

50:07.400 --> 50:08.200
You like what he's...

50:08.200 --> 50:11.440
preaching, you like what he's teaching, that's really important to me.

50:11.440 --> 50:14.000
I want to go to church where the pastor is going to teach me the Bible and I'm going

50:14.000 --> 50:17.800
to agree with him on most things, on the big things for sure.

50:17.800 --> 50:22.960
Look at 1 Thessalonians chapter number 1 and verse number 7 because people are going to

50:22.960 --> 50:24.460
believe like their pastor.

50:24.460 --> 50:27.160
So hopefully you just believe right by accident.

50:27.160 --> 50:31.640
Verse 7, so that you are in samples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.

50:31.640 --> 50:34.440
This is not just a person, this is the whole church.

50:34.900 --> 50:38.900
And it's saying this entire church is setting a good example.

50:38.900 --> 50:41.500
So it's not only important for the pastor to be a good example.

50:41.500 --> 50:44.200
It's not only important for his wife and his children to be a good example.

50:44.200 --> 50:50.300
It's important for the whole church to be an example because a church will sometimes be an example to another church.

50:50.500 --> 50:56.140
You know, when a church sees, hey, St. Fast Baptist Church is being evicted for preaching,

50:56.140 --> 50:58.140
you know, this sermon, but you know what?

50:58.140 --> 51:02.140
The pastor didn't take it back, and the church sides with them, and the church is still following

51:02.140 --> 51:03.700
them around in hotel rooms.

51:03.700 --> 51:05.420
They don't even know where they're going to church on Sunday morning.

51:05.420 --> 51:07.260
They just know they're going.

51:07.260 --> 51:10.900
I mean, there was a point in time where we were sending out the address like an hour

51:10.900 --> 51:14.500
or two hours before we were actually having service.

51:14.500 --> 51:16.500
And I know some people are getting nervous because they're kind of like, I don't want

51:16.500 --> 51:17.500
to really ask, but...

51:17.800 --> 51:19.480
It's like an hour.

51:19.480 --> 51:21.840
I got to know, where are we going, Fast and Sallowy?

51:21.840 --> 51:22.880
And this is like, all right, here we go.

51:22.880 --> 51:23.900
This is where we're going.

51:24.000 --> 51:25.960
You know, it was funny, we were meeting,

51:25.960 --> 51:28.120
I told people like, don't bring visitors.

51:28.120 --> 51:29.920
I'm like, no one knows where we're going.

51:29.920 --> 51:30.880
Don't share the link.

51:30.880 --> 51:32.440
And they're just like, hey, I brought this visitor.

51:32.440 --> 51:33.600
He'd want to get baptized.

51:33.600 --> 51:35.600
You know, it's just like, what?

51:35.600 --> 51:38.880
We had like more baptisms when we were like in the hotel

51:38.880 --> 51:41.560
church than we'd had like a few months prior or something.

51:41.560 --> 51:42.600
It was funny.

51:42.600 --> 51:44.960
I mean, I was just like, dang it, I have to go get in the

51:44.960 --> 51:46.240
pool or whatever.

51:46.240 --> 51:48.320
But you know, at the same time, I'm like, I'm praising God

51:48.320 --> 51:49.680
that there's a baptism, of course.

51:49.680 --> 51:51.920
You know, cardinally speaking, it was kind of like, what the

51:51.920 --> 51:52.000
Thanks for watching!

51:52.000 --> 51:55.800
You know, how do we have all these visitors in the hotel that want to get baptized?

51:55.800 --> 51:56.800
But you know what?

51:56.800 --> 51:58.920
Praise God for the baptisms.

51:58.920 --> 51:59.920
Praise God.

51:59.920 --> 52:00.920
And you know what?

52:00.920 --> 52:01.920
That sets an example.

52:01.920 --> 52:04.520
You know, first works, they got bombed and then they're just like, hey, we're still

52:04.520 --> 52:06.840
having church, someone's backyard.

52:06.840 --> 52:08.240
You know, and it's like, that's a great example.

52:08.240 --> 52:10.840
Now, of course, when you live in California, you can do that.

52:10.840 --> 52:13.560
You know, you live in Texas, it would have been a different, you know, animal.

52:14.100 --> 52:15.560
to have it outside.

52:15.560 --> 52:16.560
Okay.

52:16.560 --> 52:22.680
But it's just like, hey, church is going through persecution and rallying around the pastor,

52:22.680 --> 52:26.880
rallying around the truth, being steadfast.

52:26.880 --> 52:27.880
You know what?

52:27.880 --> 52:29.840
That's a good example and it's an example to other churches.

52:30.200 --> 52:36.000
Churches going out and doing big missions trips inspires other churches to go and do big mission trips.

52:36.000 --> 52:39.000
Churches going and saying, hey, we got this many people saved.

52:39.000 --> 52:45.600
I guarantee, I guarantee that the new IMB saying how many salvations we got in 2025

52:45.600 --> 52:49.000
caused a lot of our enemies to be like, we need to do so many little more.

52:49.000 --> 52:50.800
And you know, is that really that bad?

52:51.400 --> 52:53.600
Someone could dislike me and dislike our church,

52:53.600 --> 52:56.740
and if they go so-and-so, praise God anyways, you know?

52:56.740 --> 52:58.800
You don't have to like me to get someone saved.

52:58.800 --> 53:00.680
You don't have to like me to do the right thing.

53:00.680 --> 53:01.520
But you know what?

53:01.520 --> 53:03.640
We probably still provoked someone to jealousy.

53:03.800 --> 53:07.800
We've revoked them into jealousy like, hey, you probably want to get a part of this.

53:07.800 --> 53:10.880
I've noticed some of these people, they're going to the same Caribbean islands we're

53:10.880 --> 53:11.880
going to.

53:11.880 --> 53:13.520
That's probably a coincidence, right?

53:13.520 --> 53:14.520
I don't care.

53:14.520 --> 53:15.520
Go for it.

53:15.520 --> 53:17.480
I don't own the Philippines.

53:17.480 --> 53:18.760
I don't own the Bahamas.

53:18.760 --> 53:20.040
I don't own Mexico.

53:20.040 --> 53:22.020
It's like, hey, go with us, soul winning.

53:22.020 --> 53:23.020
Don't go with us.

53:23.020 --> 53:24.020
Just go soul winning.

53:24.020 --> 53:25.020
But you know what?

53:25.020 --> 53:27.960
In some cases, you're just setting a good example, and that's important.

53:28.500 --> 53:33.180
You know, in many cases, I don't think that I'm ever going to be that liked or that popular,

53:33.180 --> 53:37.300
but just by setting a good example, even people that don't like you, they'll sometimes, they'll

53:37.300 --> 53:40.100
follow you anyways, or they'll make good decisions anyways.

53:40.100 --> 53:41.100
And you know what we need?

53:41.100 --> 53:43.860
We just need more people to be a good example, whether they're liked or not.

53:44.400 --> 53:48.160
whether people want to be their friend or not, whether people go to their church or not,

53:48.160 --> 53:51.440
we just need people to be good examples and we need churches to be good examples.

53:51.440 --> 53:55.920
We need more churches to say, hey, you can preach hard on the truth of the Bible and still exist,

53:55.920 --> 54:00.720
still grow, still thrive, still get people baptized, still do all the things that you need to do.

54:00.720 --> 54:04.560
Hey, you can give money to missions and you can still have money to have conferences and have fun

54:04.560 --> 54:08.320
things. Like we don't want to sit here and set a bad example, we want to set a good example.

54:08.320 --> 54:11.120
We want people to visit our church and say like, I like being there.

54:11.500 --> 54:14.100
I like the spirit there. I like the people there.

54:14.100 --> 54:17.900
You know, I heard that they're all weirdos and mentally retarded, Kool-Aid drinking freaks,

54:17.900 --> 54:21.100
but I went there and they're all cool and awesome and I like them.

54:22.100 --> 54:27.700
I met a guy at Massa and he said that he was going to

54:27.700 --> 54:31.100
All-Scripture Baptist Church the last six months or something.

54:31.700 --> 54:34.100
So it's just the last six months of their demise.

54:34.100 --> 54:35.700
He'd never even heard of the New IP.

54:36.000 --> 54:39.640
But he shows up and every sermon is about how bad the new I.B. is.

54:39.640 --> 54:41.640
He's just like, man, I just heard about these people.

54:41.640 --> 54:45.800
They're just all weird and freaks and just crazy and whatever.

54:45.800 --> 54:47.800
And then he's like, then I started listening to their sermons.

54:47.800 --> 54:50.600
They're pretty good sermons.

54:50.600 --> 54:52.400
And then he's like, I started meeting these people.

54:52.400 --> 54:53.600
They're kind of cool.

54:53.600 --> 54:57.000
And he's just like, hey, that's great testimony.

54:58.400 --> 55:00.400
And even if they say that you're weird,

55:00.400 --> 55:01.860
and you've turned the world upside down,

55:01.860 --> 55:04.320
and hey, they come here at Hither also,

55:04.320 --> 55:06.500
it's like, hey, once they meet you,

55:06.500 --> 55:08.480
it's like, hey, I kinda like those people.

55:08.480 --> 55:10.400
They're setting a good example,

55:10.400 --> 55:12.660
and they're turning the world upside down to the gospel,

55:12.660 --> 55:13.980
and hey, not everybody's gonna like you,

55:13.980 --> 55:16.160
but just be a good example anyways.

55:16.160 --> 55:18.460
And we need a whole church to be a good example.

55:18.460 --> 55:20.000
We set an example.

55:20.200 --> 55:23.280
Our name, Steadfast Baptist Church, sets an example.

55:23.280 --> 55:27.000
There are many people looking at what we're doing, and they're going to follow a like

55:27.000 --> 55:28.000
suit.

55:28.000 --> 55:32.280
If we just folded like a deck of cards, a lot of churches would lose boldness in preaching

55:32.280 --> 55:33.280
the Word of God.

55:33.280 --> 55:39.320
But by standing on the truth, by preaching what the Bible says, by being very zealous

55:39.320 --> 55:43.320
for the things of God and evangelism, it inspires other people to do likewise.

55:43.600 --> 55:45.600
And we need to do that.

55:45.600 --> 55:50.400
You know, people that like our church and go through the tribulation, that sets an example.

55:50.400 --> 55:53.000
You know, if everybody just leaves and gives up and,

55:53.000 --> 55:57.000
well, I just disagree with how he said it or whatever, you know, whatever.

55:57.000 --> 56:02.200
It's just like, well, then other people will learn from that example and they'll disagree with their churches.

56:02.200 --> 56:04.900
You know, not everybody even has a good church to go to.

56:04.900 --> 56:07.400
When people are leaving a good church,

56:07.400 --> 56:10.600
what does that send? That sends a message to people that are in a bad church to leave.

56:10.700 --> 56:13.700
You know, I've met these people like, I can't go to church if it's pre-trip.

56:13.700 --> 56:15.700
It's like, well, what, are you just going to not go to church?

56:15.700 --> 56:17.700
Like, that's not good.

56:17.700 --> 56:24.700
You know, like, hey, if you can tolerate things and sometimes you don't agree and you go, that sets a good example, too.

56:24.700 --> 56:29.700
You know, hey, we need to be people that are just care to, we care about the truth and we care about getting people saved

56:29.700 --> 56:32.700
and we don't have to like and agree with everything.

56:32.700 --> 56:34.700
We just want to be a good example.

56:34.700 --> 56:36.700
Go to 2 Thessalonians chapter 3, go to 2 Thessalonians chapter 3.

56:36.700 --> 56:38.600
You know what's a good example?

56:39.300 --> 56:44.300
that 10-year plaque we have out in the hallway of people that have been here for 10 years straight.

56:44.300 --> 56:46.300
That's a great example.

56:46.300 --> 56:53.300
You know, what a great example. Brother Alberto in the Millstead's been here basically since day one.

56:53.300 --> 56:58.300
Miss Lucy in the first year too. I mean we've had people that are just, you know, tried and true.

56:58.300 --> 57:02.300
And I guarantee it wasn't as fun, you know, in the house.

57:02.600 --> 57:04.600
Wasn't as fun when Adam Fannie was here.

57:04.600 --> 57:12.600
It wasn't as fun, you know, when we had all kinds of protests and threats and just changing locations and all this stuff.

57:12.600 --> 57:14.600
I mean, it's not always been the best.

57:14.600 --> 57:16.600
There's highs and lows.

57:16.600 --> 57:20.600
But, you know, at the end of the day, like, it's a good testimony to say, hey, I've been in a church for 10 years.

57:20.600 --> 57:23.600
Hey, I've been in a church for a long period of time.

57:23.600 --> 57:24.600
I've seen it grow.

57:24.600 --> 57:25.600
I've brought people here.

57:25.600 --> 57:27.500
You know, that's a good example.

57:27.700 --> 57:31.700
And it shows other people, hey, if they've been here for 10 years, I could be at a church for 10 years.

57:31.700 --> 57:34.100
Or I could be a Christian for 10 years.

57:34.100 --> 57:39.300
Second Thessalonians chapter number three, look at verse number nine.

57:39.300 --> 57:44.800
The Bible says, not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an example unto you to follow us.

57:44.800 --> 57:48.500
Now again, it's not example, it's in sample, but it's the same concept.

57:48.500 --> 57:50.600
This is the idea of the Apostle Paul.

57:50.700 --> 57:53.500
saying that when he went to the church at Thessalonica,

57:53.500 --> 57:55.000
he noticed that some of them were lazy,

57:55.000 --> 57:56.600
they didn't work at all,

57:56.600 --> 57:58.700
and so he didn't even take a paycheck

57:58.700 --> 58:00.900
from that church specifically,

58:00.900 --> 58:04.000
and he would just work extra to pay his own bills,

58:04.000 --> 58:05.600
just to kind of set an example like,

58:05.600 --> 58:07.800
hey, we should be hardworking people.

58:08.000 --> 58:10.000
Christians should not be lazy. They should be hard-working

58:10.480 --> 58:14.980
Okay, and he wanted to set a good example of being someone that's a hard worker

58:14.980 --> 58:18.520
And you know what we should all as men be hard workers

58:18.920 --> 58:22.760
We need to be good examples of hard workers not people that are always complaining

58:23.440 --> 58:28.880
trying to clock in for 39 hours and 59 minutes and 59 seconds and just

58:29.800 --> 58:35.060
Just always upset and just like ah, you know money money money, you know

58:35.800 --> 58:38.400
Nobody really likes somebody who's always complaining about money.

58:40.000 --> 58:44.240
You know, it's just kind of annoying to be around someone that's just always trying to

58:44.240 --> 58:46.840
bum money and always complaining about money.

58:46.840 --> 58:47.840
You know what?

58:47.840 --> 58:52.320
You like being around people that just work really hard, always taking care of things.

58:52.320 --> 58:54.360
You know, they're taking care of themselves.

58:54.360 --> 58:58.800
The Bible says they work with quietness, meaning that they're not bringing it up.

58:58.800 --> 59:01.320
And look, it's not to say that we don't all have struggles.

59:01.320 --> 59:03.200
It's not to say that we don't all have low points.

59:03.200 --> 59:05.360
It's not to say that we couldn't ever use a few bucks.

59:05.360 --> 59:07.540
I'm sure everybody could use a few bucks.

59:07.540 --> 59:08.000
But at the end of the...

59:08.000 --> 59:09.940
Today, with quietness, they're working,

59:09.940 --> 59:12.060
and they're not just bugging everybody about money.

59:12.060 --> 59:14.820
Okay, you know, it's kind of a bad attitude.

59:14.820 --> 59:16.300
A good attitude is someone that's willing,

59:16.300 --> 59:18.540
hey, if I have to do a little bit of extra work,

59:18.540 --> 59:20.840
or work a little harder to take care of myself,

59:20.840 --> 59:23.020
I'd rather do that than just, you know,

59:23.020 --> 59:26.440
set an example of being unwilling to work.

59:27.560 --> 59:29.420
There are some people that are unwilling

59:29.420 --> 59:31.680
to work a little extra.

59:31.680 --> 59:35.200
Work an hour late, work a night, work a weekend.

59:35.300 --> 59:37.420
Work in the morning.

59:37.420 --> 59:39.940
Get a second side hustle going on or something.

59:39.940 --> 59:42.060
You know, there's so many people that are afraid to do that

59:42.060 --> 59:42.580
and won't do that.

59:42.580 --> 59:43.260
And you know what?

59:43.260 --> 59:46.380
Paul's setting a good example of, hey, I'm willing to basically

59:46.380 --> 59:49.580
work all day and all night sometimes.

59:49.580 --> 59:50.820
You know, God made you strong.

59:50.820 --> 59:53.580
What did he make you strong for, young men?

59:53.580 --> 59:56.900
Just so you can flex on TikTok videos or something like that?

59:57.900 --> 01:00:04.300
I mean, you know, pull it, you know, guys like to brag about how they can stay up all night drinking alcohol all night.

01:00:04.300 --> 01:00:05.500
They're mighty to drink wine.

01:00:05.500 --> 01:00:09.300
Well, maybe God gave you that strength so you could stay up all night working or something.

01:00:09.300 --> 01:00:16.400
Or maybe making some extra money or taking care of things or, you know, helping your wife, you know, when she has a hard time or something.

01:00:16.400 --> 01:00:18.500
You know, yeah, you are mighty to do these things.

01:00:18.500 --> 01:00:22.900
But you know what? Instead of being mighty to be a bad example, why don't you be mighty to be a good example?

01:00:23.200 --> 01:00:26.400
instead of getting drunk and doing drugs and just,

01:00:26.400 --> 01:00:30.240
hey look, I can drink 24 beers and still stand and talk.

01:00:30.240 --> 01:00:32.240
It's like, why is that cool?

01:00:33.000 --> 01:00:35.000
You know, that's not a good example.

01:00:35.000 --> 01:00:37.000
Be a good example of someone that, hey,

01:00:37.000 --> 01:00:40.000
I'm taking care of my family, and I'm, you know, working hard.

01:00:40.000 --> 01:00:44.000
And look, I don't think you have to work any more than you need to.

01:00:44.000 --> 01:00:47.000
I mean, if you can make an honest living on 40 hours a week,

01:00:47.000 --> 01:00:49.000
and you get four weeks of vacation,

01:00:49.000 --> 01:00:53.000
and you never want to think about another job, go team, you know?

01:00:53.000 --> 01:00:55.000
But you know, in America with the inflation right now,

01:00:55.000 --> 01:00:57.000
some of us are having to work double shift.

01:00:57.000 --> 01:00:58.000
You know what I mean?

01:00:58.000 --> 01:01:01.000
Some of us have to do extra time, and it still feels like you can't.

01:01:01.300 --> 01:01:06.100
catch up sometimes. And we're all in different life circumstances, different situations,

01:01:06.100 --> 01:01:10.700
different priorities. I get it. But you know what? We should at least work with quietness

01:01:10.700 --> 01:01:14.900
and we should be good examples of people that are willing to work hard. Taking care of our

01:01:14.900 --> 01:01:18.820
family. You know, you want your wife to look up to you and say, hey, he works hard. He's

01:01:18.820 --> 01:01:22.380
trying to pay the bills. He's trying to take care of me. And you know, if I was a young

01:01:22.380 --> 01:01:26.300
lady and I was thinking about who I want to marry, I would want to make sure that the

01:01:26.300 --> 01:01:27.900
guy is a hard worker.

01:01:28.600 --> 01:01:32.040
Because let me tell you something, if he's not a hard worker now, he will not be in the future.

01:01:33.040 --> 01:01:37.520
You want a guy that's going to work hard, is diligent, is putting in a lot of effort, energy.

01:01:37.520 --> 01:01:40.520
And I don't really even care what it is, just a hard worker in general.

01:01:40.520 --> 01:01:44.680
Because lazy people are just lazy their whole life for some reason.

01:01:44.680 --> 01:01:47.400
If he's always, oh, he just plays video games all day.

01:01:47.400 --> 01:01:48.920
That's not a good sign.

01:01:50.440 --> 01:01:53.320
He's refusing to work, he doesn't do anything.

01:01:53.320 --> 01:01:54.120
You know...

01:01:54.600 --> 01:01:57.600
I didn't always have a job, but in college,

01:01:57.600 --> 01:02:00.800
I played golf, and I mean, whenever I was serious

01:02:00.800 --> 01:02:02.640
about golf, I would play golf eight, nine,

01:02:02.640 --> 01:02:05.980
10 hours a day, practice, do workouts.

01:02:05.980 --> 01:02:08.940
We'd have to get up at 6 a.m., do workouts,

01:02:08.940 --> 01:02:10.820
and for some reason we had some crazy,

01:02:10.820 --> 01:02:12.980
like, ex-AFL guy doing our workouts.

01:02:12.980 --> 01:02:15.280
It was like a two-hour workout at 6 a.m.,

01:02:15.280 --> 01:02:17.120
then we'd go play, you know, go to school,

01:02:17.120 --> 01:02:18.520
play golf all day.

01:02:18.520 --> 01:02:20.420
I mean, it wasn't an eight-hour shift.

01:02:20.420 --> 01:02:20.500
you

01:02:21.000 --> 01:02:23.800
You know, and you want people that are willing to go a little bit extra.

01:02:23.800 --> 01:02:25.600
Does that gonna provide the bills?

01:02:25.600 --> 01:02:28.600
No, I didn't become a professional golfer and I don't make money on golf, all right?

01:02:28.600 --> 01:02:31.600
But, you know what? Hard work translates into hard work.

01:02:31.600 --> 01:02:35.600
Being lazy doesn't translate into anything good, okay?

01:02:35.600 --> 01:02:38.000
And now, was I the best college student?

01:02:38.000 --> 01:02:40.600
Did I develop some bad habits in college? I did, all right?

01:02:40.600 --> 01:02:43.400
I got lazy and kind of gave up work. It's hard.

01:02:43.400 --> 01:02:45.200
But, you know, in general...

01:02:45.700 --> 01:02:48.700
You know, we should find men that work hard.

01:02:48.700 --> 01:02:52.300
And you know, if I would have a daughter that was about to get married,

01:02:52.300 --> 01:02:54.800
and this guy is lazy and doesn't want to work hard,

01:02:54.800 --> 01:02:57.800
I'd be telling her that's not, you know, he needs to change.

01:02:57.800 --> 01:03:00.600
Or something needs to be fixed here. You should be looking for a guy.

01:03:00.600 --> 01:03:02.500
Why just want him to be good looking?

01:03:02.500 --> 01:03:06.600
You know, I just want, what was the guy that Britney Spears dated to look like a bum?

01:03:07.400 --> 01:03:11.160
Kevin Federline. I mean, come on. Like, this guy looks like a bum.

01:03:11.160 --> 01:03:15.640
You know, it's just like, no, don't take this guy, or whatever.

01:03:15.640 --> 01:03:19.800
It's like, but he's a hottie, you know. It's just like, no, he's like a bum.

01:03:19.800 --> 01:03:22.440
I don't care if he's good looking, or whatever.

01:03:22.440 --> 01:03:27.480
You'd be better off marrying some ugly dude, because they're all ugly anyways,

01:03:27.480 --> 01:03:32.440
that works hard, than some Mr. Handsome that never wants to lift his fingers,

01:03:32.440 --> 01:03:34.760
you know, and actually work hard. Okay.

01:03:35.000 --> 01:03:38.000
You know, that's way more important anyways.

01:03:38.000 --> 01:03:42.000
And again, this is a biblical example of guys that work hard,

01:03:42.000 --> 01:03:45.000
you know, that are willing to do things that are important.

01:03:45.000 --> 01:03:47.000
And again, God made you strong for a reason.

01:03:47.000 --> 01:03:49.000
It's to work, guys.

01:03:49.000 --> 01:03:51.000
Six days shall thou labor.

01:03:51.000 --> 01:03:53.000
Sorry that doesn't fit your little American dream.

01:03:53.000 --> 01:03:57.000
God didn't have the American dream in tow here.

01:03:57.000 --> 01:03:59.000
I mean, some people aren't even working six days a week,

01:03:59.000 --> 01:04:01.000
and they're complaining about it.

01:04:01.000 --> 01:04:03.000
And it's like God's saying, six days shall thou labor.

01:04:03.200 --> 01:04:05.200
Now, I want you to go to Titus chapter 2.

01:04:05.200 --> 01:04:06.800
It's just to the right, just a hair.

01:04:06.800 --> 01:04:10.000
Titus chapter 2.

01:04:10.000 --> 01:04:13.100
We need to make sure that we're setting a good example.

01:04:15.600 --> 01:04:18.400
We could take this sermon in so many different directions, but I'm just trying to show you

01:04:18.400 --> 01:04:21.200
how the Bible is bringing this up, of being a good example.

01:04:21.200 --> 01:04:22.800
Titus chapter 2, look at verse 7.

01:04:27.300 --> 01:04:31.700
in all things showing thyself a pattern of good works

01:04:31.700 --> 01:04:34.100
in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravities, and sincerity.

01:04:34.100 --> 01:04:39.900
So again, we need to show ourselves a pattern of good works.

01:04:40.200 --> 01:04:43.240
I want to go to 1 Peter, just go to the right.

01:04:43.240 --> 01:04:45.160
I'll read for you in 1 Corinthians 11,

01:04:45.160 --> 01:04:48.880
be followers of me even as I also am of Christ.

01:04:48.880 --> 01:04:51.240
In Matthew chapter number five, the Bible says

01:04:51.240 --> 01:04:53.000
that we're supposed to let our light shine

01:04:53.000 --> 01:04:55.080
so that men may see our good works

01:04:55.080 --> 01:04:57.280
and glorify our Father which is in heaven.

01:04:57.500 --> 01:05:01.440
So, we should be good examples, showing our examples.

01:05:01.440 --> 01:05:05.860
We should point to the people that we should be following, following people like Paul that

01:05:05.860 --> 01:05:08.520
are setting a good example, following Christ.

01:05:08.520 --> 01:05:11.340
And of course, that is our ultimate example, is Christ.

01:05:11.340 --> 01:05:17.880
Look at 1 Peter chapter number 2, verse 21, for even here on 2 where you called, because

01:05:17.880 --> 01:05:23.740
Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example that we should follow in his steps.

01:05:24.300 --> 01:05:27.300
Of course, Christ is their ultimate example.

01:05:27.300 --> 01:05:28.100
And I get it.

01:05:28.100 --> 01:05:30.100
People are like, oh, I don't follow man.

01:05:30.100 --> 01:05:31.180
I follow Christ.

01:05:31.180 --> 01:05:32.300
That's great.

01:05:32.300 --> 01:05:34.300
I'm glad that you have this attitude of following Christ.

01:05:34.300 --> 01:05:35.420
But here's the reality.

01:05:35.420 --> 01:05:37.260
Those who are following Christ are following the Bible.

01:05:37.260 --> 01:05:39.740
And the Bible tells you to be followers of Paul.

01:05:39.740 --> 01:05:42.820
So you do have to follow Paul as he follows Christ.

01:05:42.820 --> 01:05:45.420
And most people aren't a pastor.

01:05:45.420 --> 01:05:46.300
So you know what?

01:05:46.300 --> 01:05:48.500
The Bible tells you to go to church and follow your pastor.

01:05:48.900 --> 01:05:54.580
So if you're going to follow Christ, well, Christ died on the cross and gave you a church.

01:05:54.580 --> 01:05:56.540
He purchased it with his own blood.

01:05:56.540 --> 01:05:59.700
And so if you're following Christ, you're going to be following a pastor by getting

01:05:59.700 --> 01:06:03.920
into church and obeying them that have the rule over you and submitting yourselves.

01:06:03.920 --> 01:06:04.920
That's what the Bible teaches.

01:06:04.920 --> 01:06:08.260
Hey, if you're a wife, you're going to obey your husband.

01:06:08.260 --> 01:06:11.660
In order to follow Christ, you have to obey your husband.

01:06:11.660 --> 01:06:14.260
You can't say, oh, I just follow Christ.

01:06:14.260 --> 01:06:15.300
Following Christ is following your husband.

01:06:15.900 --> 01:06:19.660
Hey, men, if you're following Christ, you're going to follow your boss because you said

01:06:19.660 --> 01:06:21.980
you're supposed to treat him like the Lord.

01:06:21.980 --> 01:06:25.820
When you're on the clock, you're supposed to be acting like Jesus is your manager, like

01:06:25.820 --> 01:06:28.760
Jesus is your CEO, like Jesus is your boss.

01:06:28.760 --> 01:06:33.300
And so, you know, it's usually a scapegoat to actually do the opposite of what the Bible

01:06:33.300 --> 01:06:36.420
is saying when they say this of like, oh, I'm just following Jesus while they rebel

01:06:36.420 --> 01:06:38.660
against their human authority that Jesus put over them.

01:06:39.200 --> 01:06:41.700
That's false. No, you're supposed to obey human authority.

01:06:41.700 --> 01:06:44.200
Hey children, you're supposed to obey your parents.

01:06:44.200 --> 01:06:47.200
And of course, we are following Christ's example.

01:06:47.200 --> 01:06:50.200
He was obedient to who?

01:06:50.200 --> 01:06:52.700
The Father. You know, Jesus wasn't this rogue agent.

01:06:52.700 --> 01:06:55.700
He said, not my will, but thine be done.

01:06:55.700 --> 01:06:59.700
Even Jesus Christ himself learned obedience as the book of Hebrews tells us.

01:06:59.700 --> 01:07:02.600
And he submitted to the Father's will.

01:07:02.600 --> 01:07:06.800
The Bible says that He did not even come to earth of His own will,

01:07:06.800 --> 01:07:08.800
but He was sent by the Father.

01:07:08.800 --> 01:07:11.100
He came down from heaven from the Father.

01:07:11.100 --> 01:07:14.800
He said, He came down not to do His own will, but the will of Him that sent Him.

01:07:14.800 --> 01:07:16.000
That's the Father.

01:07:16.000 --> 01:07:19.000
The Father sent Jesus. He obeyed to come down.

01:07:19.000 --> 01:07:20.400
He was on the earth.

01:07:20.400 --> 01:07:24.300
And at the time of the cross, in the Garden of Gethsemane,

01:07:24.300 --> 01:07:28.100
He said, Nevertheless, not my will, but Thine be done.

01:07:28.100 --> 01:07:30.500
If Christ can be obedient, how much more...

01:07:30.600 --> 01:07:33.200
Or should we be obedient and submissive?

01:07:33.200 --> 01:07:35.880
And of course, he was obedient to the cross, picturing what?

01:07:35.880 --> 01:07:39.200
Suffering, persecution, ridicule, shame.

01:07:39.200 --> 01:07:42.320
And of course, we as Christians, we should follow that example saying, hey, we should

01:07:42.320 --> 01:07:49.000
be willing to be mocked, ridiculed, and persecuted for the cause of Christ, even unto death.

01:07:49.500 --> 01:07:51.500
because Christ is our ultimate example.

01:07:51.500 --> 01:07:53.500
And we need more Christians

01:07:53.500 --> 01:07:56.500
that want to be a good example in following Christ

01:07:56.500 --> 01:07:59.500
and not man, not the pleasures of this world,

01:07:59.500 --> 01:08:01.500
not being well spoken of,

01:08:01.500 --> 01:08:03.500
not money, but rather

01:08:03.500 --> 01:08:05.500
serving God, serving Christ,

01:08:05.500 --> 01:08:07.500
getting people saved, preaching the truth.

01:08:07.500 --> 01:08:09.500
We need more good examples.

01:08:10.600 --> 01:08:13.600
I don't feel like there's that many men that are following Christ.

01:08:13.600 --> 01:08:16.600
It's sad. It's sad. There's not many pastors, not many preachers.

01:08:16.600 --> 01:08:19.600
I mean, the Bible warns, you know, beloved, believe not every spirit,

01:08:19.600 --> 01:08:23.600
but try the spirits, whether they are God, because many false prophets are gone out of the world.

01:08:23.800 --> 01:08:25.560
Unfortunately, there's not a lot of good examples.

01:08:25.560 --> 01:08:26.760
We need more good examples.

01:08:26.760 --> 01:08:29.520
It seems like every day we see more and more pastors exposed

01:08:29.520 --> 01:08:31.440
as a pedophile, exposed as a pervert,

01:08:31.440 --> 01:08:33.720
exposed as being corrupt, committing adultery,

01:08:33.720 --> 01:08:36.200
sleeping with the secretary, sleeping with whoever.

01:08:36.200 --> 01:08:37.280
It's a shame.

01:08:37.280 --> 01:08:38.600
It's an embarrassment.

01:08:38.600 --> 01:08:42.200
We need more good examples.

01:08:42.200 --> 01:08:44.240
And of course, that comes with the congregation

01:08:44.240 --> 01:08:46.100
elevating good examples.

01:08:47.000 --> 01:08:51.400
I want you to go, if you would, in your Bible to 1 Thessalonians chapter 4.

01:08:51.400 --> 01:08:52.900
So go back to 1 Thessalonians chapter 4.

01:08:52.900 --> 01:08:59.200
One of the admonitions in 1 Timothy chapter 4, being a good example, is impurity.

01:08:59.200 --> 01:09:02.700
And I think this is a very important one that I want to address.

01:09:02.700 --> 01:09:04.500
And it's for you young people.

01:09:04.900 --> 01:09:09.700
And I know how it is. I went to public school. I went to college.

01:09:09.700 --> 01:09:16.700
And I know for a fact that there are kids that are very influential to other kids.

01:09:16.700 --> 01:09:22.300
Teens and some of you young singles, a lot of people are looking to your example.

01:09:22.300 --> 01:09:25.500
And here's the thing. This is what I know. That if some of...

01:09:25.700 --> 01:09:29.540
the young ladies in our church that are the most influential that everybody's looking to,

01:09:29.540 --> 01:09:33.060
that wants to be friends with, if they decide to stay pure

01:09:33.060 --> 01:09:37.380
and they're a virgin on their wedding night, they will inspire a lot of the other kids in this

01:09:37.380 --> 01:09:43.780
church to follow LikeSuit. And I know if some of the good girls in our church, they decide to not

01:09:43.780 --> 01:09:48.900
take it seriously and they go out and commit fornication and tell their friends about it,

01:09:48.900 --> 01:09:51.860
they'll probably encourage a lot of those people to follow LikeSuit as well.

01:09:52.500 --> 01:09:56.500
And it's, you know, we're in a church, there's a lot of kids, look around.

01:09:56.500 --> 01:10:01.000
But you notice there's not as many teenagers, there's not as many older kids.

01:10:01.000 --> 01:10:04.500
We kind of have a pyramid going, you know. We have less at the top.

01:10:04.500 --> 01:10:09.500
But that's why it's so important for you young single people to set a good example right now.

01:10:10.200 --> 01:10:13.700
You're going to have a big impact on a lot of kids in this church

01:10:13.700 --> 01:10:16.000
and you're going to affect a lot of other people in this church.

01:10:16.000 --> 01:10:19.400
And if you make the right decisions and good decisions,

01:10:19.400 --> 01:10:21.700
you will influence a lot of other people,

01:10:21.700 --> 01:10:24.500
not only helping yourself, but helping other people.

01:10:24.500 --> 01:10:27.900
And the Bible tells us in 1 Thessalonians chapter number 4,

01:10:27.900 --> 01:10:29.500
look at verse number 3,

01:10:29.500 --> 01:10:32.400
for this is the will of God, even your sanctification,

01:10:32.400 --> 01:10:35.300
that you should abstain from fornication.

01:10:35.600 --> 01:10:37.800
The Bible is telling us to abstain from this.

01:10:37.800 --> 01:10:39.500
This is a direct commandment.

01:10:39.500 --> 01:10:41.600
It's mentioned all over the Old Testament,

01:10:41.600 --> 01:10:42.700
all over the New Testament.

01:10:42.700 --> 01:10:44.400
This is a big deal to God.

01:10:44.400 --> 01:10:46.200
But you live in an American culture

01:10:46.200 --> 01:10:48.900
where fornication is almost just accepted

01:10:48.900 --> 01:10:52.000
as totally normal and totally expected.

01:10:53.700 --> 01:10:57.740
I mean, it is almost anticipated that everyone will commit fornication,

01:10:57.740 --> 01:11:01.540
that it's not a big deal, that no one is going to be a virgin,

01:11:01.540 --> 01:11:04.620
and you know what? That is what the devil wants you to think,

01:11:04.620 --> 01:11:06.460
so that you will follow that example.

01:11:06.460 --> 01:11:08.660
But you know what? We need young people in this church to say,

01:11:08.660 --> 01:11:10.700
you know what? I'm going to be a good example,

01:11:10.700 --> 01:11:13.580
I'm going to be different, I'm going to abstain,

01:11:13.580 --> 01:11:16.780
and I'm going to abstain from fornication, I will be a virgin on my wedding night.

01:11:16.780 --> 01:11:19.300
And look, it makes all common sense.

01:11:20.100 --> 01:11:26.100
Any guy that wants to take your virginity that was sincere would have waited.

01:11:26.100 --> 01:11:30.100
And every guy that's not sincere, it would have ran off.

01:11:30.100 --> 01:11:34.100
That's why it makes no sense. If you're a young lady, you should just totally,

01:11:34.100 --> 01:11:37.100
like it should make no sense to you to not wait.

01:11:37.500 --> 01:11:42.500
You should just try to be pure and it's not cool.

01:11:42.500 --> 01:11:45.000
It's devaluing yourself.

01:11:45.000 --> 01:11:46.860
It's causing only problems for yourself.

01:11:46.860 --> 01:11:50.180
And look, if you made that mistake, do the best to stop

01:11:50.180 --> 01:11:53.180
and just stay as pure as you can now.

01:11:53.180 --> 01:11:57.140
But I'm telling you this, it's better if we have some

01:11:57.140 --> 01:11:58.900
of the teenagers and some of you young people

01:11:58.900 --> 01:12:01.900
and some of you singles, you be pure on your wedding night.

01:12:03.300 --> 01:12:07.300
And if you made a mistake in that area, don't go bragging about it at all.

01:12:07.300 --> 01:12:10.800
Don't go telling other people and trying to encourage other people to do it.

01:12:10.800 --> 01:12:13.800
Go to 1 Corinthians chapter number 6.

01:12:13.800 --> 01:12:21.300
You know, I went to public school, and unfortunately, the culture in public school was to brag about that.

01:12:21.300 --> 01:12:25.800
It was to brag and act like fornication was the coolest thing in the world.

01:12:28.600 --> 01:12:32.760
And I remember later in college running into somebody

01:12:32.760 --> 01:12:35.260
that I went to school with.

01:12:35.260 --> 01:12:36.100
It was a young lady.

01:12:36.100 --> 01:12:38.100
I didn't really know her that well.

01:12:38.100 --> 01:12:39.460
Like I knew her because I went to school with her,

01:12:39.460 --> 01:12:40.860
but I wasn't like her friend or anything.

01:12:40.860 --> 01:12:42.340
I didn't hang out with her that much.

01:12:42.340 --> 01:12:45.500
But she was in a conversation with some of the other guys

01:12:45.500 --> 01:12:46.720
I went to high school with,

01:12:46.720 --> 01:12:49.980
and they're having a very obscene conversation,

01:12:49.980 --> 01:12:51.380
to say the least, okay?

01:12:51.380 --> 01:12:53.060
Talking a lot about fornication.

01:12:53.600 --> 01:13:01.200
And this young lady divulged that basically she had been the football team's, you know,

01:13:01.200 --> 01:13:06.800
fangirl, okay? Every single guy. And she was just talking about it.

01:13:06.800 --> 01:13:10.480
And, but this is what's the weird part about the conversation. She was trying to explain to this

01:13:10.480 --> 01:13:15.280
young man how what she had done was stupid and foolish and she wished she had never done it

01:13:15.280 --> 01:13:20.320
and was trying to tell this guy, you should never commit fornication. You should wait until you get married.

01:13:21.000 --> 01:13:25.020
And it was just, it wasn't me, it wasn't a fundamental Baptist preacher, it was a literal

01:13:25.020 --> 01:13:26.020
whore.

01:13:26.020 --> 01:13:28.560
Like, in the biggest way possible.

01:13:28.560 --> 01:13:33.560
I mean, like, the worst whore I've ever heard of in my entire life, and I heard way, I wish

01:13:33.560 --> 01:13:39.360
I could unhear a lot of things I heard, but she was saying, and this is only a few years

01:13:39.360 --> 01:13:42.960
removed from high school, she's saying, I wish I had never done that, she said, it made

01:13:42.960 --> 01:13:47.200
it not special, it was a horrible decision, I wish I hadn't done that.

01:13:47.700 --> 01:13:50.900
And now I'm just kind of trash to everybody.

01:13:50.900 --> 01:13:52.900
And she's like, don't do that.

01:13:52.900 --> 01:13:54.240
Don't ruin yourself.

01:13:54.240 --> 01:13:55.780
Don't defile yourself.

01:13:55.780 --> 01:13:59.340
You know, they want to find some Jew somewhere to lie to you

01:13:59.340 --> 01:14:01.680
and tell you that it was cool and fun and they all enjoyed it.

01:14:01.680 --> 01:14:03.980
It's lies from hell.

01:14:03.980 --> 01:14:05.420
It's lies from hell.

01:14:05.420 --> 01:14:06.620
You will regret it.

01:14:06.620 --> 01:14:09.080
You will not be happy with yourself.

01:14:09.080 --> 01:14:10.780
You should be a virgin.

01:14:10.780 --> 01:14:11.580
And you know what?

01:14:11.580 --> 01:14:14.600
We need more people to set that good example.

01:14:14.700 --> 01:14:18.200
1 Corinthians chapter 6, look at verse 18.

01:14:18.200 --> 01:14:20.300
The Bible says, flee fornication.

01:14:20.800 --> 01:14:25.440
Every sin that a man doeth is without the body but he that commiteth fornication sin it against his own body

01:14:25.800 --> 01:14:31.280
What no you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you which you have of God and you're

01:14:31.280 --> 01:14:36.960
Not your own for your bought with a price therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit

01:14:36.960 --> 01:14:43.640
Which are God's so the Bible is telling us hey our body has been purchased by God therefore is supposed to glorify God in

01:14:43.640 --> 01:14:48.600
Our body not just soul and spirit, but in our body and we should abstain from fornication. We should flee from

01:14:48.800 --> 01:14:52.800
You know, if you have to flee from something, that sounds like it's dangerous.

01:14:52.800 --> 01:14:57.800
Think about other things you would think you should flee from, like a lion, like a roaring lion.

01:14:57.800 --> 01:15:00.800
You don't want to get close to that thing.

01:15:02.200 --> 01:15:05.900
Young people don't realize this. They're too stupid to realize this in many cases.

01:15:05.900 --> 01:15:12.200
And I think that parents should try their best to help kids stay away from dangerous situations.

01:15:12.200 --> 01:15:13.800
But let me explain something to you.

01:15:13.800 --> 01:15:20.000
If you're a young single, you should just not get alone with someone you're interested in because it's dangerous.

01:15:20.000 --> 01:15:26.400
Just like you wouldn't get alone with a lion in a room, you shouldn't get alone with someone you like in a room.

01:15:26.600 --> 01:15:29.800
Because it's not like, oh, I wouldn't want to do that.

01:15:29.800 --> 01:15:31.560
You will want to do that.

01:15:31.560 --> 01:15:32.800
That's the whole reason why you're

01:15:32.800 --> 01:15:34.240
supposed to run away from it.

01:15:34.240 --> 01:15:35.520
That's the whole reason why you're supposed to not put

01:15:35.520 --> 01:15:36.720
yourself in the situation.

01:15:36.720 --> 01:15:39.560
If you just don't put yourself in the situation, you can't do

01:15:39.560 --> 01:15:40.560
it.

01:15:40.560 --> 01:15:42.720
If you constantly put yourself in the situation,

01:15:42.720 --> 01:15:44.360
unfortunately you'll probably do it.

01:15:44.360 --> 01:15:46.520
Now look, if you find yourself alone with somebody, you've

01:15:46.520 --> 01:15:48.680
gone too far, you can still say no.

01:15:48.680 --> 01:15:49.920
You can still walk away.

01:15:49.920 --> 01:15:52.160
You can still be like Joseph and run.

01:15:52.160 --> 01:15:53.000
And that's what you should do.

01:15:53.000 --> 01:15:53.700
Run.

01:15:55.400 --> 01:15:59.400
Run, Forrest. Just run. Just run out of the room.

01:15:59.400 --> 01:16:02.400
And at the end of the day, you'd be better off.

01:16:02.400 --> 01:16:06.400
But I'm just telling you, in many cases for most young people,

01:16:06.400 --> 01:16:09.400
just avoid the situation.

01:16:09.400 --> 01:16:11.400
If you're a young lady, just say,

01:16:11.400 --> 01:16:14.400
Hey, I don't mind dating you, but I just don't want to be alone with you.

01:16:14.400 --> 01:16:18.400
Because I don't trust myself, and I want to honor God with my body.

01:16:18.400 --> 01:16:22.200
And if you're the one, then we'll be alone on our honeymoon.

01:16:22.500 --> 01:16:23.780
And you know what?

01:16:23.780 --> 01:16:25.500
That's what you should try to plan for.

01:16:25.500 --> 01:16:28.220
Because if you say, well, I'm a good Christian person.

01:16:28.220 --> 01:16:29.900
I just want to, you know, we can be alone.

01:16:29.900 --> 01:16:31.020
It's not a big deal.

01:16:31.020 --> 01:16:33.700
It's just, you're just messing with fire.

01:16:33.700 --> 01:16:36.580
You know, maybe you could just dance around that lion

01:16:36.580 --> 01:16:39.140
for a little bit, but eventually he's going to strike.

01:16:39.140 --> 01:16:40.660
And so you just got to stay away from it.

01:16:40.660 --> 01:16:42.660
Don't put yourself in the situation.

01:16:42.660 --> 01:16:44.220
It's just not worth it.

01:16:44.220 --> 01:16:47.020
And of course, we need some people to set a good example.

01:16:48.800 --> 01:16:53.440
You know, in this passage, I know the primary example is virginity,

01:16:53.440 --> 01:16:57.640
but in general, we're supposed to glorify God in our body as well.

01:16:57.640 --> 01:16:59.840
You know, I think another way is just being healthy.

01:16:59.840 --> 01:17:02.920
You know, we should try to be healthy, and as men we should try to be strong.

01:17:02.920 --> 01:17:05.520
The Bible has repeated commandments about being strong.

01:17:05.520 --> 01:17:10.200
You know, as men we shouldn't be soft, we shouldn't be effeminate,

01:17:10.200 --> 01:17:13.720
we should be, you know, able-bodied men.

01:17:14.100 --> 01:17:20.500
We should try to work hard. We should try to, you know, be someone that's a little bit intimidating,

01:17:20.500 --> 01:17:26.580
okay, physically, and not necessarily be docile. You know, the Bible, I believe,

01:17:26.580 --> 01:17:29.620
has many men in the Bible that are very clearly strong.

01:17:30.100 --> 01:17:34.500
It's not setting this example of a bunch of weaklings, a bunch of feminine dudes.

01:17:34.500 --> 01:17:36.420
It's men that are strong and taking care of themselves.

01:17:36.420 --> 01:17:37.420
And you know what?

01:17:37.420 --> 01:17:39.220
I don't think that you have to look a certain way.

01:17:39.220 --> 01:17:43.220
I don't think the Bible really cares about physical appearance, but the Bible does emphasize

01:17:43.220 --> 01:17:44.220
being healthy.

01:17:44.220 --> 01:17:46.580
The Bible does emphasize being strong.

01:17:46.580 --> 01:17:47.580
And you know, I think it's important.

01:17:47.580 --> 01:17:48.580
So you can go soul winning.

01:17:48.580 --> 01:17:48.900
Thank you.

01:17:48.900 --> 01:17:51.000
so that you can work hard.

01:17:51.000 --> 01:17:53.000
There's many jobs that take physical labor,

01:17:53.000 --> 01:17:55.000
lifting 50 plus pounds,

01:17:55.000 --> 01:17:56.500
working nights,

01:17:56.500 --> 01:17:58.300
lifting heavy materials,

01:17:58.300 --> 01:18:01.000
you know, and it takes physical strength, physical endurance,

01:18:01.000 --> 01:18:01.800
and you know what?

01:18:01.800 --> 01:18:03.800
Men should be physically strong.

01:18:04.100 --> 01:18:08.660
You know, it's kind of a shame, it's kind of embarrassment when men are weak.

01:18:08.660 --> 01:18:10.260
You know, why do we have the Mighty Men's Competition?

01:18:10.260 --> 01:18:11.380
You know what I didn't want to do?

01:18:11.380 --> 01:18:13.300
I didn't want to have the Mighty Men's Competition,

01:18:13.300 --> 01:18:15.940
and we're all like the McMurtry AI videos.

01:18:15.940 --> 01:18:18.660
We're all fat eating fried chicken or something like this,

01:18:18.660 --> 01:18:21.940
with suspenders on just so our pants don't buckle, you know, under or something,

01:18:21.940 --> 01:18:23.220
the pressure or the weight.

01:18:23.220 --> 01:18:27.780
Like, that would be kind of a shame and an embarrassment if we're the Mighty Men,

01:18:27.780 --> 01:18:32.020
and we're all just these out of shape, you know, fried chicken eating, you know...

01:18:32.100 --> 01:18:37.100
weirdos or something like that, you know, or these docile guys or something.

01:18:37.100 --> 01:18:40.100
It's like, hey, let's have a strong competition, you know.

01:18:40.100 --> 01:18:43.100
Let's try to run around. Let's try to work hard.

01:18:43.100 --> 01:18:45.100
You know, I think that's important.

01:18:45.100 --> 01:18:47.100
And we should be good examples of that.

01:18:47.100 --> 01:18:50.100
You know, if you want your children to be strong and in good shape,

01:18:50.100 --> 01:18:53.100
often they're going to follow their father's example.

01:18:53.200 --> 01:18:56.680
They're going to follow their fathers, you know, footsteps.

01:18:56.680 --> 01:19:00.140
You know, play games with your kids, you know, work out with your kids,

01:19:00.140 --> 01:19:04.600
take walks with your family, eat good food, teach them about health,

01:19:04.600 --> 01:19:08.400
teach them about hygiene, you know, take your body seriously,

01:19:08.400 --> 01:19:10.400
take good care of your body.

01:19:10.400 --> 01:19:12.340
We need more people to take a good example.

01:19:12.340 --> 01:19:13.040
And you know what?

01:19:13.040 --> 01:19:16.440
Praise God, Christianity is a pretty clean religion.

01:19:16.440 --> 01:19:18.840
You know, it seems like some religions are not very clean.

01:19:19.200 --> 01:19:21.200
Hint, hint, wink, wink, Hinduism?

01:19:21.200 --> 01:19:22.200
Okay.

01:19:22.200 --> 01:19:26.200
I mean, what's all those videos of them cutting food with their toenails?

01:19:26.200 --> 01:19:31.200
Like, I don't, and I'm not, maybe there's a video of like, white Christians doing this.

01:19:31.200 --> 01:19:33.200
Sorry if that exists, I don't know. I've never seen that.

01:19:33.200 --> 01:19:35.200
But that would be gross in our approach.

01:19:35.200 --> 01:19:38.200
You know, it's just like, there's some religions that aren't that clean.

01:19:38.200 --> 01:19:40.200
There's some parts of the world that aren't that clean.

01:19:40.200 --> 01:19:44.200
You know what? What a shame it would be if a Christian church was like that, you know?

01:19:44.900 --> 01:19:48.900
unclean, non-hygienic, doesn't care about health.

01:19:48.900 --> 01:19:50.900
You know, I think we should care about health.

01:19:50.900 --> 01:19:53.900
I even primarily eat organic food, not always.

01:19:53.900 --> 01:19:54.900
Don't hear me wrong.

01:19:54.900 --> 01:19:56.900
You know, I try to eat organic foods.

01:19:56.900 --> 01:19:58.900
I try to eat vegetables.

01:19:58.900 --> 01:20:01.900
I try to eat, you know, all kinds of meat.

01:20:01.900 --> 01:20:03.900
You should eat meat, in my opinion, okay?

01:20:03.900 --> 01:20:06.900
I mean, the Bible says nothing's to be refused.

01:20:06.900 --> 01:20:08.900
If you pray for it.

01:20:08.900 --> 01:20:12.800
Hey, you know, there's some religions that abstain from meat a lot.

01:20:12.900 --> 01:20:15.300
Look, go with me to the Greek Orthodox Church.

01:20:15.300 --> 01:20:17.380
Don't do it, but in hypothetical theory.

01:20:17.380 --> 01:20:20.260
But I went there only because I was trying to learn Greek.

01:20:20.260 --> 01:20:22.580
OK, they had a Greek night school when I was going.

01:20:22.580 --> 01:20:25.520
But you go, and all the guys are just these skinny looking

01:20:25.520 --> 01:20:26.820
vegans.

01:20:26.820 --> 01:20:28.100
OK?

01:20:28.100 --> 01:20:31.260
And they try to make like ortho bros seem like these chads

01:20:31.260 --> 01:20:31.740
or whatever.

01:20:31.740 --> 01:20:35.380
In reality, they're like out of shape, nerd, vegan looking

01:20:35.380 --> 01:20:38.300
dudes, because like 180 days out of the year,

01:20:38.300 --> 01:20:39.500
they can't even eat meat.

01:20:40.200 --> 01:20:43.000
And they have all these weird fasts and all these weird rituals.

01:20:43.000 --> 01:20:47.640
And so they're just physically different because of their actual diet.

01:20:48.160 --> 01:20:52.440
And so, you know, you look at a lot of people and their religion is dictating their diet,

01:20:52.680 --> 01:20:57.240
is dictating their physiogamy, is dictating how they behave themselves.

01:20:57.240 --> 01:21:00.920
You know, as Christians, we need to be strong, you know, eating that strong meat,

01:21:01.280 --> 01:21:05.160
you know, and enjoying the blessings of the land that flow with milk and honey.

01:21:05.600 --> 01:21:09.880
getting some good fats and getting some good meats and eating healthy

01:21:09.880 --> 01:21:13.560
you know organic foods I think these things are important I think the Bible

01:21:13.560 --> 01:21:16.640
has these principles that we can employ in our lives

01:21:16.640 --> 01:21:20.480
exactly how you do that you see you can do whatever you want but

01:21:20.480 --> 01:21:25.120
you know the Bible does teach you know to be strong the Bible does teach to take care of

01:21:25.120 --> 01:21:25.720
your body

01:21:25.720 --> 01:21:29.640
and I think we should all take those things seriously I wanna go to Hosea

01:21:29.640 --> 01:21:30.480
chapter 1

01:21:31.100 --> 01:21:35.660
So, and I didn't want to go to all the verses to prove my point on that, but

01:21:35.660 --> 01:21:39.660
I'm just kind of giving you general principles.

01:21:42.500 --> 01:21:45.500
We should be good examples in these areas.

01:21:45.500 --> 01:21:52.500
And one would be, again, we should set for the good example of good marriages.

01:21:52.500 --> 01:21:59.500
And I think this is what I want to emphasize is, you know, being a good spouse,

01:21:59.500 --> 01:22:02.500
even in the low parts of your marriage.

01:22:02.500 --> 01:22:05.500
Because everyone enjoys the honeymoon.

01:22:06.700 --> 01:22:09.200
Everyone enjoys the good parts of marriage.

01:22:09.300 --> 01:22:11.140
And look, there are parts of marriage

01:22:11.240 --> 01:22:12.300
that is not hard at all.

01:22:12.400 --> 01:22:14.580
It's only fun and easy.

01:22:14.680 --> 01:22:16.740
But that's not going to last.

01:22:16.840 --> 01:22:18.540
That's not reality.

01:22:18.640 --> 01:22:21.040
You're also going to have extreme lows.

01:22:21.140 --> 01:22:22.640
You're going to have difficulties.

01:22:22.740 --> 01:22:23.980
There's a reason why the marriage vows

01:22:24.080 --> 01:22:25.660
were better for worse.

01:22:25.760 --> 01:22:27.780
I mean, the wedding day is kind of a high.

01:22:27.880 --> 01:22:29.760
It's kind of the better time.

01:22:29.860 --> 01:22:30.920
But there's going to be worse.

01:22:31.020 --> 01:22:33.160
And for some people, the worst is bad.

01:22:33.160 --> 01:22:33.600
God bless you.

01:22:34.600 --> 01:22:42.900
You know, this is what's funny to me, is most people that have really bad marriage situations are not the ones that complain.

01:22:42.900 --> 01:22:45.100
It's the ones that are like somewhere in the middle.

01:22:45.100 --> 01:22:49.100
It's like the ones that don't have... the people that have like the one you're just like, that's a nightmare.

01:22:49.400 --> 01:22:52.000
You know, it's like they're not the ones usually complaining,

01:22:52.000 --> 01:22:54.700
but the people that kind of have like a normal marriage,

01:22:54.700 --> 01:22:57.300
and then they feel like it's like the,

01:22:57.300 --> 01:22:59.000
wow, you don't want this one.

01:22:59.000 --> 01:22:59.840
Okay.

01:22:59.840 --> 01:23:02.400
And, you know, for all of us, it's kind of hard.

01:23:02.400 --> 01:23:04.600
You know, there's some Baptist pastors out there

01:23:04.600 --> 01:23:06.500
that have put bad examples out there

01:23:06.500 --> 01:23:08.100
where they say they never fight.

01:23:08.100 --> 01:23:09.600
Okay, that's a lie.

01:23:11.600 --> 01:23:14.600
That they don't have any problems in their marriage, that they're both perfect.

01:23:14.600 --> 01:23:16.400
This doesn't exist, okay?

01:23:16.400 --> 01:23:17.600
It's a fairy tale.

01:23:17.600 --> 01:23:18.600
Okay.

01:23:18.600 --> 01:23:26.100
But at the same time, you know, to me the good example is someone that's sticking with their spouse in a low spot.

01:23:26.100 --> 01:23:27.900
It's easy in the high spot.

01:23:27.900 --> 01:23:29.300
It's in the low spot.

01:23:29.300 --> 01:23:34.400
When they're weak, when they're vulnerable, when they're going through a hard time, when they have problems.

01:23:34.400 --> 01:23:36.600
And you know what? You just stick with them anyways.

01:23:36.600 --> 01:23:37.800
And you still love them anyways.

01:23:37.800 --> 01:23:39.400
And you're still doing good with them anyways.

01:23:39.600 --> 01:23:42.600
And you know, this is kind of what the whole book of Hosea is about.

01:23:42.600 --> 01:23:45.600
And it's kind of an example of how God is to the children of Israel,

01:23:45.600 --> 01:23:48.600
how God stuck with them, even in their low spots,

01:23:48.600 --> 01:23:52.600
even in their wickedness and their rebellion.

01:23:52.600 --> 01:23:55.600
And look, you know, I'm going to preach on this,

01:23:55.600 --> 01:23:59.600
and people get offended by this, but you know, it's biblical.

01:23:59.600 --> 01:24:02.600
You know, I'll get up and say, hey, even if your spouse commits adultery,

01:24:02.600 --> 01:24:04.600
you should not leave them.

01:24:04.600 --> 01:24:06.500
And people will get mad at me for that.

01:24:06.600 --> 01:24:11.080
People will say, well, God wouldn't want me to be in an unhappy marriage.

01:24:11.080 --> 01:24:16.920
Or they'll say, well, I know that you say that,

01:24:16.920 --> 01:24:21.040
but if you say that, you're encouraging people to do bad.

01:24:21.040 --> 01:24:23.360
I'm like, I'm not encouraging anybody to do bad.

01:24:23.360 --> 01:24:26.100
That would be the same as me going up to the door and saying, hey.

01:24:26.500 --> 01:24:28.140
If you believe in Christ, you'll be saved.

01:24:28.140 --> 01:24:29.340
Oh, so now I should murder people?

01:24:29.340 --> 01:24:31.340
It's like, no one's encouraging you to murder people

01:24:31.340 --> 01:24:33.140
because salvation's a free gift.

01:24:33.140 --> 01:24:34.020
OK?

01:24:34.020 --> 01:24:36.900
Yeah, technically, someone commit bad sins

01:24:36.900 --> 01:24:39.140
and still be saved, but no one's encouraging that.

01:24:39.140 --> 01:24:40.300
No one's promoting that.

01:24:40.300 --> 01:24:43.020
And even in marriage, you know, it's for better, for worse,

01:24:43.020 --> 01:24:45.740
for richer, for poorer, you know, in sickness and health.

01:24:45.740 --> 01:24:48.620
You know, you're never supposed to leave them nor forsake them.

01:24:48.620 --> 01:24:50.740
It's till death do us part.

01:24:50.740 --> 01:24:52.060
You know, that's why I had a marriage conference called

01:24:52.060 --> 01:24:53.540
the till-death marriage.

01:24:53.900 --> 01:24:55.700
It's like, I believe it.

01:24:55.700 --> 01:24:56.540
Okay?

01:24:56.540 --> 01:24:58.600
It's not just a expression.

01:24:58.600 --> 01:25:01.640
It's not just a cute saying.

01:25:01.640 --> 01:25:02.680
I believe it.

01:25:02.680 --> 01:25:04.080
And I think that you should have it.

01:25:04.080 --> 01:25:07.600
Now, does that mean that every time that's easy?

01:25:07.600 --> 01:25:08.940
No.

01:25:08.940 --> 01:25:10.900
And you know what, for me, it's not hard

01:25:10.900 --> 01:25:12.900
because I have an awesome wife.

01:25:12.900 --> 01:25:14.520
You know, I'm not like, I'm not over here like,

01:25:14.520 --> 01:25:16.720
oh man, it's really hard to hang on.

01:25:16.720 --> 01:25:17.300
You know?

01:25:17.400 --> 01:25:19.400
It's like, I don't want to let go.

01:25:19.400 --> 01:25:21.900
I mean, this is a great roller coaster ride.

01:25:21.900 --> 01:25:22.900
I'm just having fun.

01:25:22.900 --> 01:25:27.100
Like, there's no reason for me to get off this ride, OK?

01:25:27.100 --> 01:25:32.000
But for those that actually have the real bad situations,

01:25:32.000 --> 01:25:35.900
this is what unfortunately happens is sometimes it gets a tension.

01:25:35.900 --> 01:25:38.900
And everybody kind of notices it, and it's a big deal.

01:25:38.900 --> 01:25:40.900
Well, those are the important times for people to hang on.

01:25:42.300 --> 01:25:43.900
That's a really good example.

01:25:43.900 --> 01:25:46.300
And you know, here's a bad example in the book of Hosea,

01:25:46.300 --> 01:25:48.800
where a woman's committing repeated adultery

01:25:48.800 --> 01:25:50.600
and is a whore, as the Bible describes.

01:25:50.600 --> 01:25:52.400
Look at Hosea 1 verse 2.

01:25:52.400 --> 01:25:55.000
In the beginning of the word of the Lord by Hosea,

01:25:55.000 --> 01:25:56.800
and the Lord said to Hosea, go take

01:25:56.800 --> 01:25:59.800
unto the wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms

01:25:59.800 --> 01:26:01.700
for the land that committed great whoredom departing

01:26:01.700 --> 01:26:02.100
from the Lord.

01:26:02.100 --> 01:26:04.200
Now, that's a weird commandment, OK?

01:26:04.200 --> 01:26:06.600
Go marry a literal whore.

01:26:06.600 --> 01:26:07.100
But.

01:26:07.500 --> 01:26:15.380
Obviously, he is to marry a woman that has a sordid past, and has a bad past, and has

01:26:15.380 --> 01:26:19.180
committed great whoredoms, and he says, hey, go love her anyways.

01:26:19.180 --> 01:26:22.380
Go be her husband.

01:26:22.380 --> 01:26:27.780
Now he says in verse 3, so he went and took Gomer, the daughter of Debleam, which conceived

01:26:27.780 --> 01:26:29.420
and bear him a son.

01:26:29.420 --> 01:26:32.860
So Goemer, he takes his wife, he marries her.

01:26:33.200 --> 01:26:36.200
No one ever names anybody Gomer ever again, apparently.

01:26:37.200 --> 01:26:43.200
But she can see that the language, it almost sounds like it's his kid, but here's the problem.

01:26:43.200 --> 01:26:45.200
It's not even his kid.

01:26:46.200 --> 01:26:48.200
Which is really crazy.

01:26:50.300 --> 01:26:54.700
It says, let's just read a few more verses later.

01:26:54.700 --> 01:26:55.800
It says in verse number 10,

01:26:55.800 --> 01:26:57.100
yet the number of the children of Israel

01:26:57.100 --> 01:26:58.000
should be the sand of the sea,

01:26:58.000 --> 01:26:59.200
which cannot be measured nor numbered,

01:26:59.200 --> 01:27:00.300
and it shall come to pass,

01:27:00.300 --> 01:27:01.400
that in the place where it is said to them,

01:27:01.400 --> 01:27:02.900
you are not my people,

01:27:02.900 --> 01:27:03.800
there it shall be said to them,

01:27:03.800 --> 01:27:06.500
you are not, you are the sons of the living God.

01:27:06.500 --> 01:27:10.800
So he has this guy, it's like an object lesson.

01:27:10.800 --> 01:27:13.000
Hosea has to marry a woman that's a whore,

01:27:13.000 --> 01:27:14.700
she conceives twice,

01:27:14.700 --> 01:27:16.600
and the kids aren't even his kids.

01:27:17.000 --> 01:27:21.000
And it's to kind of picture how God with Israel's relationship was.

01:27:21.000 --> 01:27:27.000
It was a whore for a while, and then it's like producing children that aren't even of God,

01:27:27.000 --> 01:27:31.000
and like not even Christian, not even saved, and they're not even His people.

01:27:31.000 --> 01:27:35.000
And it's kind of to show the apostasy of the Jews and the children of Israel.

01:27:35.000 --> 01:27:36.900
They're not His people.

01:27:38.300 --> 01:27:41.600
And it says in verse 2 of chapter 2,

01:27:41.600 --> 01:27:44.060
"'Plead with your mother, plead for she is not my wife,

01:27:44.060 --> 01:27:45.560
neither am I her husband.

01:27:45.560 --> 01:27:48.300
Let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight

01:27:48.300 --> 01:27:51.500
and her adulteries from between her breasts,

01:27:51.500 --> 01:27:54.000
lest I strip her naked and set her as the day that she was

01:27:54.000 --> 01:27:56.040
bored and make her as a wilderness and set her like a

01:27:56.040 --> 01:27:58.040
dry land and slay her with thirst.'"

01:27:58.400 --> 01:28:00.980
and I will not have mercy upon her children,

01:28:00.980 --> 01:28:03.320
for they be the children of whoredoms."

01:28:03.320 --> 01:28:04.760
So notice the Bible's real explicit,

01:28:04.760 --> 01:28:08.240
like these are not children from Hosea.

01:28:08.240 --> 01:28:10.720
It's like you marry a woman that was a whore,

01:28:10.720 --> 01:28:13.320
and then after getting married, she commits adultery,

01:28:13.320 --> 01:28:16.500
and she has multiple children that are not yours.

01:28:18.520 --> 01:28:20.040
Now wouldn't this be the, like you know,

01:28:20.040 --> 01:28:22.360
all these pastors out there, they wanna be like,

01:28:22.360 --> 01:28:24.700
now this is the exception for divorce.

01:28:24.800 --> 01:28:27.200
Like, this would be their exception.

01:28:27.200 --> 01:28:30.500
You know, God doesn't say divorce her.

01:28:30.500 --> 01:28:34.000
God doesn't say that at all. Look at chapter 3, verse 1.

01:28:34.000 --> 01:28:39.300
Then said the Lord unto me, Go yet love a woman, beloved of her friend,

01:28:39.300 --> 01:28:44.700
yet an adulteress, according to the love of the Lord toward the children of Israel.

01:28:45.000 --> 01:28:47.600
who looked to other gods and loved flaggons of wine.

01:28:47.600 --> 01:28:50.000
So I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver,

01:28:50.000 --> 01:28:52.800
and for a home of barley, and for a half a home of barley.

01:28:52.800 --> 01:28:56.300
And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days.

01:28:56.300 --> 01:28:59.800
Thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man.

01:28:59.800 --> 01:29:02.600
So will I also be for thee."

01:29:02.600 --> 01:29:07.100
So Hosea marries a woman, she commits adultery, has multiple kids against him.

01:29:07.100 --> 01:29:09.400
And then God doesn't say divorce her, He says,

01:29:09.400 --> 01:29:11.400
you know what, go love her anyways.

01:29:12.000 --> 01:29:14.700
And then he literally has to pay money.

01:29:14.700 --> 01:29:18.760
He has to pay her to not be unfaithful to him.

01:29:18.760 --> 01:29:21.160
This is a weird relationship, OK?

01:29:21.160 --> 01:29:23.680
None of this is a recommendation.

01:29:23.680 --> 01:29:26.760
Did you remember what I said in verse number three of chapter

01:29:26.760 --> 01:29:27.320
two?

01:29:27.320 --> 01:29:29.840
Lest I strip her naked and set her as in the day

01:29:29.840 --> 01:29:31.600
that she was born and make her as the wilderness

01:29:31.600 --> 01:29:34.360
and set her like a dry land and slay her with thirst.

01:29:34.360 --> 01:29:36.920
God is saying, hey, you better quit committing adultery,

01:29:36.920 --> 01:29:39.700
otherwise I will destroy you physically.

01:29:40.600 --> 01:29:43.000
It's not like she's getting off necessarily.

01:29:43.000 --> 01:29:44.760
It's not that God isn't mad at her.

01:29:44.760 --> 01:29:48.200
It's not like God is to allow her in this wicked rebellious sin.

01:29:48.200 --> 01:29:50.360
It's just this is a moment of grace.

01:29:50.360 --> 01:29:55.560
And God is just saying, hey, if you are a husband and your wife is not the best wife,

01:29:55.560 --> 01:29:59.400
I'm pretty sure she's not the best wife, it says love her anyways.

01:30:00.360 --> 01:30:03.960
And hey, the reverse goes, hey, if you're a wife

01:30:03.960 --> 01:30:07.560
and your husband's not the best husband, you love him anyways.

01:30:08.200 --> 01:30:10.900
Wyatt, till death do us part.

01:30:10.900 --> 01:30:13.000
And hey, if she's gonna keep committing adultery,

01:30:13.000 --> 01:30:14.540
well then just let God kill them,

01:30:14.540 --> 01:30:16.000
and then you're free from them.

01:30:16.000 --> 01:30:17.000
But you know what?

01:30:17.000 --> 01:30:19.880
God, I believe, is telling us till death do us part.

01:30:19.880 --> 01:30:22.540
God hates putting away.

01:30:22.540 --> 01:30:25.840
Look at Malachi, just look to the right, Mr. Hare,

01:30:25.840 --> 01:30:27.580
and go to Malachi chapter two.

01:30:30.000 --> 01:30:34.760
It's pretty much right, it's the last book in your Old Testament, right before Matthew.

01:30:34.760 --> 01:30:40.160
Malachi chapter 2, look at verse 14.

01:30:40.160 --> 01:30:44.400
Yet ye say, wherefore, because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of

01:30:44.400 --> 01:30:49.400
thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously, yet is she thy companion and the wife of thy

01:30:49.400 --> 01:30:52.400
covenant, and did not he make one?

01:30:52.400 --> 01:30:56.800
yet had he the residue of the Spirit, and wherefore one, that he might seek a godly seed.

01:30:57.000 --> 01:31:02.500
Therefore, take heed to your spirit, and let none of you deal treacherously against the

01:31:02.500 --> 01:31:03.860
wife of his youth.

01:31:03.860 --> 01:31:08.660
For the Lord the God of Israel saith that he hateth putting away."

01:31:08.660 --> 01:31:13.020
So don't be treacherous against your wife, and don't put her away.

01:31:13.020 --> 01:31:17.940
Here according to the Bible, we have Hosea with a wife that's pretty bad, committed the

01:31:17.940 --> 01:31:22.540
worst sins I could think of that you could commit against your husband, and yet he still

01:31:22.540 --> 01:31:23.100
loves her.

01:31:23.400 --> 01:31:26.400
He doesn't put her away. Why? Because the Lord hates putting away.

01:31:26.400 --> 01:31:30.400
And that's why in the book of Matthew and Mark and the Gospels,

01:31:30.400 --> 01:31:33.400
Jesus is not teaching that you should put away your wife.

01:31:33.400 --> 01:31:37.400
He says what God has joined together, let not man put us under.

01:31:37.400 --> 01:31:41.400
And so, you know, many people will teach divorce.

01:31:41.400 --> 01:31:43.400
And of course, why do people divorce?

01:31:43.400 --> 01:31:46.400
Usually because they're in a bad, messed up situation.

01:31:47.000 --> 01:31:51.160
They're usually not divorcing because they got a lot of money,

01:31:51.160 --> 01:31:54.800
because they just have a lot of money and no problems,

01:31:54.800 --> 01:31:56.440
and their kids are great,

01:31:56.440 --> 01:32:00.400
and they're having the greatest intimacy they've ever known in their entire lives,

01:32:00.400 --> 01:32:01.240
and it's all great.

01:32:01.240 --> 01:32:02.680
I mean, people aren't just like,

01:32:02.680 --> 01:32:05.080
I'm just a little too happy.

01:32:05.080 --> 01:32:06.960
They're just a little too good for me.

01:32:06.960 --> 01:32:09.400
Like, there's usually a problem.

01:32:09.400 --> 01:32:10.880
Usually things are messed up.

01:32:11.100 --> 01:32:11.600
But you know what?

01:32:11.600 --> 01:32:12.920
That's when you hang on.

01:32:12.920 --> 01:32:14.840
That's when you set the good example,

01:32:14.840 --> 01:32:17.360
and you're like Hosea, and you say, you know what?

01:32:17.360 --> 01:32:18.840
I'll love you anyways.

01:32:18.840 --> 01:32:20.120
I'll do good anyways.

01:32:20.120 --> 01:32:21.920
I'll fight for you in the trenches.

01:32:21.920 --> 01:32:23.440
I'll still do good.

01:32:23.440 --> 01:32:24.080
And you know what?

01:32:24.080 --> 01:32:25.120
You set a good example.

01:32:25.120 --> 01:32:27.360
Because unfortunately, when people don't,

01:32:27.360 --> 01:32:29.800
it's like divorce seems to happen in pairs.

01:32:29.900 --> 01:32:33.700
or in multiplication, it's just like one group does it,

01:32:33.700 --> 01:32:35.500
and then the next does it, and the next does it,

01:32:35.500 --> 01:32:38.000
and then pretty soon it's the entire comment section

01:32:38.000 --> 01:32:41.700
of Cassandra McMurtry's post on Facebook.

01:32:41.700 --> 01:32:43.400
So there's all these divorced women saying,

01:32:43.400 --> 01:32:44.400
you go girl.

01:32:46.200 --> 01:32:49.000
Oh, I wasn't joking, that's real, by the way.

01:32:49.700 --> 01:32:53.540
And look, it spirals out of control.

01:32:53.540 --> 01:32:54.540
You know what we need?

01:32:54.540 --> 01:32:57.140
We need people to say, hey, I'm going to love my spouse anyways.

01:32:57.140 --> 01:32:59.060
And I'm going to do good unto my spouse.

01:32:59.060 --> 01:33:01.620
And even if they've committed all these horrible sins,

01:33:01.620 --> 01:33:05.340
hey, I can still just be married to them.

01:33:05.340 --> 01:33:09.180
And I'm not talking about extreme reprobate serial killer stuff.

01:33:09.180 --> 01:33:12.580
If your husband's a replicate serial killer, call the cops, OK?

01:33:13.200 --> 01:33:16.400
We get it. You can love them from prison afar, all right?

01:33:16.400 --> 01:33:20.400
But I'm just saying like, no one's even bringing up that example, okay?

01:33:21.120 --> 01:33:25.040
And most of us, if you were to say, hey, my marriage problems,

01:33:25.040 --> 01:33:27.440
let me ask you this question. Are they worse than Oseya's?

01:33:29.920 --> 01:33:33.200
Are you really in a situation worse than Oseya?

01:33:33.200 --> 01:33:35.440
And you say, I don't know what God would want me to do.

01:33:35.440 --> 01:33:36.960
I'll tell you what God would want you to do.

01:33:36.960 --> 01:33:40.720
Love your wife and your kids. That's what God would want you to do.

01:33:41.200 --> 01:33:48.000
God hates putting away, God hates divorce, and I mean, I can't imagine.

01:33:48.000 --> 01:33:49.000
I have to love her.

01:33:49.000 --> 01:33:50.000
I don't have to love her.

01:33:50.000 --> 01:33:51.000
I have to give her money?

01:33:51.000 --> 01:33:55.400
It's like, this is a weird situation, but you know what?

01:33:55.400 --> 01:33:57.600
Doesn't that show that he loves her?

01:33:57.600 --> 01:34:01.000
Hey, if I have to pay for you to love me, then I'll pay for you.

01:34:01.000 --> 01:34:02.600
I'll buy you whatever.

01:34:02.600 --> 01:34:03.800
Let's just, hey.

01:34:04.300 --> 01:34:05.580
Let's fix this.

01:34:05.580 --> 01:34:06.620
I'm in.

01:34:06.620 --> 01:34:07.780
I love you.

01:34:07.780 --> 01:34:09.100
I'm going to take care of you.

01:34:09.100 --> 01:34:10.380
I'm not going to leave you.

01:34:10.380 --> 01:34:11.740
I'm not going to forsake you.

01:34:11.740 --> 01:34:13.300
But I want you to be mine.

01:34:13.300 --> 01:34:14.940
And I'm going to be yours.

01:34:14.940 --> 01:34:17.380
And you know, I think for a lot of people,

01:34:17.380 --> 01:34:19.820
if you want your relationship to thrive,

01:34:19.820 --> 01:34:23.300
they just want you to feel like you're with them.

01:34:23.300 --> 01:34:25.180
Hey, I'm with you.

01:34:25.180 --> 01:34:26.260
Hey, I know you messed up.

01:34:26.260 --> 01:34:27.420
Hey, I know you screwed up.

01:34:27.420 --> 01:34:28.900
Hey, you may have broken my heart.

01:34:28.900 --> 01:34:30.620
But I'm still going to give it to you anyways.

01:34:31.200 --> 01:34:32.960
I'll give you my broken heart.

01:34:32.960 --> 01:34:34.960
You know, I'll just give you whatever I've got.

01:34:34.960 --> 01:34:37.960
I'll give you the 15 shekels that I've got or whatever.

01:34:37.960 --> 01:34:38.640
Hey, you know what?

01:34:38.640 --> 01:34:41.080
We need people to set a good example in marriage.

01:34:41.080 --> 01:34:45.520
Not only being the good couple that's never fought or whatever,

01:34:45.520 --> 01:34:48.400
but also the couple that, hey, we went through the rough spots

01:34:48.400 --> 01:34:50.160
and we stuck together too.

01:34:50.160 --> 01:34:51.920
Hey, I loved her when it was hard.

01:34:51.920 --> 01:34:53.480
I loved her when she was sick.

01:34:53.480 --> 01:34:57.640
I loved him when he was, you know, whatever, a jerk.

01:34:58.100 --> 01:34:59.840
Yes, some guys are jerks.

01:34:59.840 --> 01:35:00.340
Woo!

01:35:00.340 --> 01:35:00.840
You know.

01:35:01.500 --> 01:35:03.000
That's not abuse, by the way.

01:35:03.000 --> 01:35:03.800
Being a jerk.

01:35:05.600 --> 01:35:07.600
Go if you would to Hebrews chapter 10.

01:35:07.900 --> 01:35:09.400
This is the last one I'm gonna mention.

01:35:09.400 --> 01:35:11.400
I'm kind of, I'm already out of time, but...

01:35:12.300 --> 01:35:14.900
Look, we need more people to set good examples.

01:35:15.600 --> 01:35:18.200
In this world, and we have so few good examples.

01:35:18.500 --> 01:35:19.800
So many people just...

01:35:20.400 --> 01:35:22.000
Hit the ejection seat.

01:35:22.300 --> 01:35:23.700
Hit the ejection button, and we have...

01:35:23.700 --> 01:35:25.400
Divorce is out of control in our country.

01:35:25.800 --> 01:35:28.300
Fornication is out of control in our country.

01:35:28.300 --> 01:35:31.400
People not taking their health serious is out of control in our country.

01:35:31.400 --> 01:35:33.600
These are some major problems and we need people.

01:35:33.600 --> 01:35:36.100
You know, bad pastors is out of control.

01:35:36.100 --> 01:35:39.400
Bad churches is out of control.

01:35:39.400 --> 01:35:44.300
And here's the last one I want to say is that you should set a good example is,

01:35:44.300 --> 01:35:48.700
you know, siding with your church in a battle or tribulation.

01:35:48.700 --> 01:35:52.800
We talked about Hosea loving his wife in a difficult situation.

01:35:52.800 --> 01:35:53.500
You know what?

01:35:53.700 --> 01:36:01.900
Praise God for the people that set a good example of siding with their pastor and siding with their church in a difficult situation.

01:36:01.900 --> 01:36:03.800
And I think this is very important.

01:36:03.800 --> 01:36:08.100
And I think it has major impacts on the church.

01:36:08.100 --> 01:36:13.000
Hebrews chapter number 10 is telling us to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together.

01:36:13.000 --> 01:36:17.600
And I think that why this is important is you're supposed to go to church, period.

01:36:19.000 --> 01:36:20.940
I mean, let's read verse 25,

01:36:20.940 --> 01:36:22.860
not forsaking assembling ourselves together

01:36:22.860 --> 01:36:24.040
as the man or some is,

01:36:24.040 --> 01:36:25.240
but exhorting one another

01:36:25.240 --> 01:36:27.100
in so much the more as you see they approaching.

01:36:27.100 --> 01:36:29.200
Not only are you not supposed to give up on church,

01:36:29.200 --> 01:36:31.940
you're supposed to be encouraging others to go to church.

01:36:31.940 --> 01:36:33.900
So not only are you supposed to not say,

01:36:33.900 --> 01:36:34.980
I'm not gonna go,

01:36:34.980 --> 01:36:36.600
you're supposed to be doing the exact opposite,

01:36:36.600 --> 01:36:38.600
you're supposed to be bringing people with you,

01:36:38.600 --> 01:36:40.600
saying, hey, come on, let's go to church.

01:36:40.600 --> 01:36:41.880
Why are people not wanting to go to church?

01:36:41.880 --> 01:36:43.600
Because all the bad church is out there.

01:36:44.000 --> 01:36:48.400
or hey there's problems or hey it's not perfect or hey it's rocky.

01:36:48.400 --> 01:36:52.600
But you know what? You go to church when it's rocky. You go to church when it's

01:36:52.600 --> 01:36:55.800
it's not the greatest. It's having problems or there's heat

01:36:55.800 --> 01:37:01.200
or there's issues or whatever. Praise God a lot of people came to church

01:37:01.200 --> 01:37:04.200
when the pastor was literally stepping down from St. Thomas Baptist Church

01:37:05.000 --> 01:37:09.880
I mean, you know, we had a family that moved to Steadfast Baptist Church, and their first

01:37:09.880 --> 01:37:14.520
service was the service when when Romero was standing up saying he's going to step down

01:37:14.520 --> 01:37:16.760
from the Bastard.

01:37:16.760 --> 01:37:18.200
That's crazy.

01:37:18.200 --> 01:37:20.840
The timing, and they're still here.

01:37:20.840 --> 01:37:21.840
That's a good example.

01:37:21.840 --> 01:37:23.440
You know what?

01:37:23.440 --> 01:37:24.200
Praise God for them.

01:37:24.900 --> 01:37:28.100
Praise God there's a family that encourages other people to say,

01:37:28.100 --> 01:37:29.940
hey, I'm not here for a man.

01:37:29.940 --> 01:37:32.500
I'm here for Jesus, and I'm here for Christianity,

01:37:32.500 --> 01:37:35.540
and I'm here for soul winning, and I'm here for the right doctrines.

01:37:35.540 --> 01:37:36.100
And you know what?

01:37:36.100 --> 01:37:37.300
Just plug and play.

01:37:37.300 --> 01:37:39.220
God will put the new guy in, and we'll just keep going.

01:37:41.780 --> 01:37:43.060
Because it's not about one man.

01:37:44.340 --> 01:37:48.660
And you know, at the same time, we had tribulation in the Jacksonville church.

01:37:49.220 --> 01:37:52.020
You know, the Jacksonville church was tumultuous, OK?

01:37:52.600 --> 01:37:57.600
They were having all kinds of issues and whatever.

01:37:57.600 --> 01:38:02.600
And it was kind of turning into like, are you with Shelley or with Fannon?

01:38:02.600 --> 01:38:04.600
This is big drama or whatever.

01:38:04.600 --> 01:38:07.600
But there is people in that church that said,

01:38:07.600 --> 01:38:09.600
hey, I'm going to side with Steadfast Baptist Church.

01:38:09.600 --> 01:38:11.600
I'm going to side with the leadership.

01:38:11.600 --> 01:38:15.600
I think that this ordained pastor that wants to take us on is the right guy.

01:38:15.600 --> 01:38:19.100
And that was an important decision for many people.

01:38:19.500 --> 01:38:24.700
You know, one of the first calls I got that I remember is from Brother Marcel calling me,

01:38:24.700 --> 01:38:28.220
and he was ready to throw Fannin's head over the fence. I'm telling you what, okay.

01:38:29.420 --> 01:38:34.220
But you know what he was mad about? He was mad that this guy's a paid evangelist and he doesn't

01:38:34.220 --> 01:38:38.380
go soul-winding. And that's what he told me. Who wouldn't be mad about that?

01:38:39.000 --> 01:38:41.000
That's a reasonable conclusion.

01:38:41.000 --> 01:38:42.240
It's like, what? This guy's not going.

01:38:42.240 --> 01:38:43.880
So what? He doesn't care about so what?

01:38:43.880 --> 01:38:45.520
He's an evangelist?

01:38:45.520 --> 01:38:48.080
Like that, there's something off about this.

01:38:48.080 --> 01:38:49.120
I get you.

01:38:49.120 --> 01:38:50.680
You know, another person that was important,

01:38:50.680 --> 01:38:53.360
Brother Ben was talking with me.

01:38:53.360 --> 01:38:56.600
You know, I didn't tell these people anything to do.

01:38:56.600 --> 01:38:58.280
Brother Ben's like, hey, let's have a meeting.

01:38:58.280 --> 01:39:00.520
Let's go meet at a park and let's make a video saying

01:39:00.520 --> 01:39:02.000
that we support Pastor Shelley.

01:39:02.400 --> 01:39:07.400
And I think from that specific event, like a lot of people were rallied together, went there.

01:39:07.400 --> 01:39:09.900
I wasn't even sure if we were going to continue a church over there.

01:39:09.900 --> 01:39:13.200
But when you see a video of people saying like, hey, we want a church over here.

01:39:13.200 --> 01:39:15.200
It's like, well, hey, we're going to hang on.

01:39:15.200 --> 01:39:16.800
Hey, we're going to fight for that.

01:39:16.800 --> 01:39:17.300
And you know what?

01:39:17.300 --> 01:39:23.200
Encourage other people to stay faithful, to stay steadfast, to stay in church and not give up on it.

01:39:23.200 --> 01:39:27.800
And you know, we've had lots of great people that were from Jacksonville and from that church, specifically.

01:39:28.800 --> 01:39:33.700
zealous soul winners, people that love the Lord, that really stepped up.

01:39:33.700 --> 01:39:34.700
And you know what?

01:39:34.700 --> 01:39:39.740
It's important how these battles go down because what you notice is the people that side with

01:39:39.740 --> 01:39:43.280
the right side immediately end up being the people you can rely on.

01:39:43.280 --> 01:39:46.400
And the people that are always siding on the wrong side always seem to just have an issue.

01:39:47.900 --> 01:39:51.900
It's like for some reason problems just show everybody's character real fast.

01:39:51.900 --> 01:39:54.900
It's just like a quick glimpse into what everybody's like.

01:39:54.900 --> 01:39:57.900
But you know, if people didn't step up and set a good example,

01:39:57.900 --> 01:40:01.900
if people didn't lead, if people didn't, you know, do something,

01:40:01.900 --> 01:40:05.900
you know, a lot of other people would fall by the wayside, churches would collapse,

01:40:05.900 --> 01:40:08.900
people would get disgruntled, people would just walk away.

01:40:10.400 --> 01:40:14.400
You know, if it's like, oh well, there's protesters and we're all scared,

01:40:14.400 --> 01:40:17.400
so no one's coming to Hotel Church.

01:40:17.400 --> 01:40:19.400
No one's showing up anymore.

01:40:19.400 --> 01:40:23.400
How do I even know, like, I'm trying to figure out what we're going to do for a building or whatever.

01:40:23.400 --> 01:40:25.400
When no one's showing up, now what do I even do?

01:40:25.400 --> 01:40:27.400
Do I even need to get another building?

01:40:27.400 --> 01:40:30.400
What kind of size? You know, like, what's happening?

01:40:30.400 --> 01:40:34.400
You know, it's important for people to, you know, side with their church, side with their pastor,

01:40:34.400 --> 01:40:36.400
in a difficult situation.

01:40:36.700 --> 01:40:42.700
I want to go to one more place. Go to 1 Samuel 17 and we'll finish there.

01:40:42.700 --> 01:40:46.700
We need some people that are going to set a good example and say,

01:40:46.700 --> 01:40:50.700
hey, you know what, if my church is going through a difficulty, I'm going to stand with them.

01:40:53.500 --> 01:41:01.000
We've had people in our church get fired for going to our church, for taking a public stand

01:41:01.000 --> 01:41:02.800
and saying, yeah, I do go to Stead Vassar.

01:41:02.800 --> 01:41:05.060
Hey, I'll fill the pulpit and I'll preach a sermon.

01:41:05.060 --> 01:41:10.740
Or hey, you know, I'm not afraid of siding with God's people.

01:41:10.740 --> 01:41:11.740
You know what?

01:41:11.740 --> 01:41:12.740
That's a good example.

01:41:12.740 --> 01:41:13.740
Because again, there's rumblings.

01:41:13.740 --> 01:41:15.180
People are like, I don't know if I can go to church there.

01:41:15.180 --> 01:41:17.060
What if, you know, I lose my job?

01:41:17.060 --> 01:41:19.060
But then it's like someone loses their job and then gets a better job.

01:41:19.900 --> 01:41:23.500
And it's like, okay, well, are you afraid of getting a better job?

01:41:23.500 --> 01:41:27.700
I mean, like, what's the problem here?

01:41:27.700 --> 01:41:29.700
You know what I haven't seen?

01:41:29.700 --> 01:41:32.500
I haven't seen someone take a bold stand for our church,

01:41:32.500 --> 01:41:34.700
a bold stand for the things that the Bible said,

01:41:34.700 --> 01:41:37.900
and then God forsook them or it didn't work out for them.

01:41:37.900 --> 01:41:38.900
I haven't seen it.

01:41:41.000 --> 01:41:42.600
Why don't you just take the faith?

01:41:42.600 --> 01:41:45.080
I haven't seen people say, I'm all in on my marriage,

01:41:45.080 --> 01:41:47.120
and I'm going to love my spouse as hard as I can,

01:41:47.120 --> 01:41:49.120
and it just totally fails or something.

01:41:49.120 --> 01:41:52.120
I see people quitting and giving up, and being disgruntled,

01:41:52.120 --> 01:41:54.120
and murmuring, and not taking things seriously,

01:41:54.120 --> 01:41:55.960
and it always fails for them.

01:41:55.960 --> 01:41:56.460
You know what?

01:41:56.460 --> 01:42:00.040
We need some good examples to actually take things seriously.

01:42:00.040 --> 01:42:00.840
And you know what?

01:42:00.840 --> 01:42:03.600
Do the right thing when no one else is.

01:42:04.900 --> 01:42:07.500
Go into a good church when no one else is.

01:42:07.500 --> 01:42:09.200
Standing with a good pastor when no one else is.

01:42:09.200 --> 01:42:14.000
How about fighting Goliath when no one will fight Goliath?

01:42:14.000 --> 01:42:16.800
And of course in 1 Samuel chapter 17, look at verse 50.

01:42:16.800 --> 01:42:21.800
So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone.

01:42:21.800 --> 01:42:26.400
And smote the Philistine and slew him, but there was no sword in the hand of David.

01:42:26.400 --> 01:42:28.900
David had no way to even kill this guy.

01:42:28.900 --> 01:42:31.000
All he did was stun him essentially.

01:42:31.300 --> 01:42:33.000
And then he took his own weapon and killed him.

01:42:33.000 --> 01:42:35.000
God provided the sword for him.

01:42:35.000 --> 01:42:36.400
He just went out in my faith.

01:42:36.400 --> 01:42:37.600
And he didn't even just go out.

01:42:37.600 --> 01:42:38.800
He ran.

01:42:38.800 --> 01:42:43.400
He ran towards the Philistine, socked him in the head with the stone,

01:42:43.400 --> 01:42:48.200
slung the stone, and then took his own sword and cut his head off.

01:42:48.200 --> 01:42:49.100
And he said, you know what?

01:42:49.100 --> 01:42:51.100
God's going to give me your head.

01:42:51.100 --> 01:42:53.400
God's the one that's going to deliver you unto me.

01:42:53.400 --> 01:42:58.000
Great faith, taking a stand, because he was defying the armies of the living God.

01:42:58.600 --> 01:43:00.440
We need men to stand up against the Goliath.

01:43:00.440 --> 01:43:01.880
And you know what he was? A youth.

01:43:01.880 --> 01:43:04.840
You know, we need young men in this room to say,

01:43:04.840 --> 01:43:06.200
I'm going to serve God.

01:43:06.200 --> 01:43:09.080
I'm not going to be like the other young men in this world

01:43:09.080 --> 01:43:13.880
that are chasing fornication, chasing money, chasing these things.

01:43:13.880 --> 01:43:14.520
You know what?

01:43:14.520 --> 01:43:17.000
I want to be a steadfast Christian.

01:43:17.000 --> 01:43:19.080
I want to be a Bible-believing Christian.

01:43:19.080 --> 01:43:20.600
I want to be a soul winner.

01:43:20.600 --> 01:43:23.320
I want to stand up against the Goliath of this world.

01:43:23.320 --> 01:43:26.440
I'm not going to just sink in cower and fear to the faggot.

01:43:26.600 --> 01:43:27.600
agenda of this world.

01:43:27.600 --> 01:43:29.280
You know what I'm going to do?

01:43:29.280 --> 01:43:31.200
I'm going to cut off the head of Goliath.

01:43:31.200 --> 01:43:32.200
That's what I'm going to do.

01:43:32.200 --> 01:43:33.720
And you know what?

01:43:33.720 --> 01:43:38.320
When one guy stands up, when one little kid, when one youth, when the youngest brother

01:43:38.320 --> 01:43:42.380
stands up, what does the Bible say?

01:43:42.380 --> 01:43:47.600
It says in verse 51, therefore David ran and stood upon the Philistine, took his sword

01:43:47.600 --> 01:43:49.240
and drew it out of the sheath.

01:43:49.240 --> 01:43:52.220
The oven slew him and cut off his head therewith.

01:43:52.220 --> 01:43:54.180
And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead...

01:43:54.600 --> 01:44:00.840
they fled. And the men of Israel and Judah arose and shouted and pursued the Philistines

01:44:00.840 --> 01:44:06.000
until they came to the valley and the gates of Ekron. So what does the Bible say? Hey,

01:44:06.000 --> 01:44:13.360
the enemies fled and God's people arose. Notice because of David's example, he rallied the

01:44:13.360 --> 01:44:18.520
entire troops. What if David said, I'm just a youth, I'm too young, how am I going to

01:44:18.520 --> 01:44:19.920
fight them? I don't even have a sword.

01:44:20.600 --> 01:44:25.100
Well, no one would have fought him and the Philistines would have just triumphed.

01:44:25.100 --> 01:44:28.600
But because one guy stood up, one guy set a good example.

01:44:28.600 --> 01:44:34.100
And you know what? We're going to have enemies. We're going to have Philistines come out here and defy the armies of the living God.

01:44:34.100 --> 01:44:39.100
You know what? We need Davids. They're going to say, hey, I'm going to stand in opposition to you.

01:44:39.100 --> 01:44:41.100
I'm going to do what's right.

01:44:41.100 --> 01:44:45.600
And you know, even with the whole phantom thing, this is what I thought when that situation was going forth.

01:44:45.600 --> 01:44:46.200
I said.

01:44:46.400 --> 01:44:51.400
I wouldn't want to go to church with Fannin as my leader, knowing what I know about him.

01:44:51.400 --> 01:44:55.400
I said, so I'm going to publicly expose him and just give the people that are there a chance

01:44:55.400 --> 01:44:59.400
to have the right church and make the right decision.

01:44:59.400 --> 01:45:04.200
And you know what? David just doesn't want to live in a world where Goliath used to do whatever he wants.

01:45:04.300 --> 01:45:07.500
He's going to say, you know what, someone needs to fight this guy.

01:45:07.500 --> 01:45:09.500
Someone needs to take this guy to task.

01:45:09.500 --> 01:45:12.300
And you know what, we need people that are willing to have a church

01:45:12.300 --> 01:45:14.500
that's just not going to succumb to Goliath

01:45:14.500 --> 01:45:16.900
and be weak and cowardly like everybody else

01:45:16.900 --> 01:45:20.300
and say, hey, you know what, even if there's a battle, even if there's a fight,

01:45:20.300 --> 01:45:21.600
I'm willing to fight.

01:45:21.600 --> 01:45:25.600
And notice by one person's example, he changed everybody.

01:45:25.600 --> 01:45:28.500
By one church's example, it can change everything.

01:45:28.500 --> 01:45:30.500
One pastor's example can change anything.

01:45:30.900 --> 01:45:35.300
One person, one spouse can change the marriage.

01:45:35.300 --> 01:45:38.500
One marriage can change the course of many marriages.

01:45:38.500 --> 01:45:43.000
One virgin can change the course of many youths.

01:45:43.000 --> 01:45:46.500
You know, one person being strong can be strong for many.

01:45:46.500 --> 01:45:49.300
We need some people to set a good example.

01:45:49.300 --> 01:45:53.500
And stop worrying about yourself and set a good example for other people.

01:45:53.500 --> 01:45:55.700
You know, don't be selfish with your actions.

01:45:55.900 --> 01:45:58.900
You are important. Your brothers and sisters will follow.

01:45:58.900 --> 01:46:07.900
Hey, you know what? If you're the oldest, you need to be a great example because your brothers and sisters will in many cases follow your example.

01:46:07.900 --> 01:46:10.900
Be a good example for your brothers and sisters to follow.

01:46:10.900 --> 01:46:14.900
Obey your parents. Do right. Be a hard worker.

01:46:14.900 --> 01:46:17.900
And if you've made mistakes, fix them and be a good example.

01:46:17.900 --> 01:46:18.900
Let's close in prayer.

01:46:18.900 --> 01:46:22.180
Thank you, Heavenly Father, so much for giving us a great example through the...

01:46:22.600 --> 01:46:25.000
your son the Lord Jesus Christ.

01:46:25.000 --> 01:46:29.000
Thank you for men that have followed in footsteps like the Apostle Paul

01:46:29.000 --> 01:46:32.600
and Peter and others. Thank you so much for all your clear

01:46:32.600 --> 01:46:37.920
commandments. I pray that you would just help teenagers and children in this room

01:46:37.920 --> 01:46:41.760
to have a desire to be a good example so that others could follow.

01:46:41.760 --> 01:46:46.020
I pray that you would help the youth desire to have a pure marriage and be

01:46:46.020 --> 01:46:47.120
virgin on their wedding night.

01:46:48.300 --> 01:46:55.500
I pray that you would help those that have made mistakes to stop and to seek the Lord

01:46:55.500 --> 01:46:58.500
and to try and prevent themselves from going down a worse path.

01:46:58.500 --> 01:47:00.420
I pray that you could rise up kids in this room.

01:47:00.420 --> 01:47:02.980
They'll be good examples to other kids.

01:47:02.980 --> 01:47:06.580
I pray that you would help those that are struggling in their marriage, that they could

01:47:06.580 --> 01:47:08.580
be a good example of their spouse.

01:47:08.580 --> 01:47:11.060
They could be a good example like Hosea was.

01:47:11.060 --> 01:47:12.260
They could love their wife.

01:47:12.260 --> 01:47:13.380
They could love their husband.

01:47:14.300 --> 01:47:18.500
I pray that you could help repair and heal those relationships and that you could set

01:47:18.500 --> 01:47:19.500
a good example.

01:47:19.500 --> 01:47:25.580
I pray that you would discourage anybody away from divorce, anybody away from trashing their

01:47:25.580 --> 01:47:26.860
spouse.

01:47:26.860 --> 01:47:30.100
I pray that you would just help restore relationships.

01:47:30.100 --> 01:47:35.580
I pray that you would just help us to be healthy and be strong and to strive for such a desire.

01:47:35.580 --> 01:47:39.080
I pray you'd help the men in this room to work hard and take their strength and apply

01:47:39.080 --> 01:47:40.860
it in a biblical and a godly way.

01:47:41.600 --> 01:47:46.240
I pray that you would help this church to have spiritual strength to stand against foes

01:47:46.240 --> 01:47:50.160
and to side with their church and to side with Jesus and to side with the right things when they

01:47:50.160 --> 01:47:56.000
go through opposition. And I pray that you would help our church to be a bright and shining example

01:47:56.000 --> 01:48:02.400
to such a dark world so that other churches could follow Christ. And in His name we pray, in Jesus'

01:48:02.400 --> 01:48:03.400
Amen.

01:48:07.600 --> 01:48:10.400
All right, in closing, let's go to song number 209.

01:48:19.200 --> 01:48:22.200
Song number 209.

01:48:29.600 --> 01:48:35.480
Sunshine in the soul song number 209

01:48:35.480 --> 01:48:38.280
Let's all sing that out loud together

01:48:38.280 --> 01:48:40.040
Sunshine in the soul

01:51:19.100 --> 01:51:21.100
We have Brother Angel coming for baptism.

01:51:28.700 --> 01:51:30.780
When I say the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

01:51:30.780 --> 01:51:31.900
I'll have you hold your nose.

01:51:31.900 --> 01:51:35.100
I'll dip you down and bring you back up, okay?

01:51:35.100 --> 01:51:37.420
Brother Angel, have you trusted Christ as your Savior?

01:51:37.420 --> 01:51:38.260
Yes.

01:51:38.260 --> 01:51:39.620
Then I baptize you in the name of the Father,

01:51:39.620 --> 01:51:41.180
Son, and Holy Ghost,

01:51:41.180 --> 01:51:42.680
buried in the lightness of his death,

01:51:42.680 --> 01:51:44.380
raised to walk in newness of life.

01:51:49.500 --> 01:51:52.540
Congratulations, brother.

01:51:52.540 --> 01:51:54.700
Make sure to congratulate our baptism.

01:51:54.700 --> 01:51:55.800
You are dismissed.
