WEBVTT

Good morning everyone and welcome to Steadfast Baptist Church. It's wonderful to see everybody

13:16.800 --> 13:20.320

And once you've found a seat let's grab a hymnal and go to song number 143.

13:32.500 --> 13:37.840
Song number 143.

13:37.940 --> 13:41.880
Crowd favorite, Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine,

13:41.980 --> 13:43.240
song 143.

13:43.340 --> 13:44.600
Let's all sing that together.

16:24.100 --> 16:29.020
everybody. Let's open up the service now with a word of prayer. Lord, we love you

16:29.020 --> 16:31.500

16:38.340 --> 16:45.580
name we ask it. Amen. All right for our next song this goes back a page. The

16:45.580 --> 16:48.600
Old-time Religion, song 142.

16:52.000 --> 16:54.000
If you're familiar with the song, sing it out.

16:54.000 --> 17:00.000
The old time religion, song 142.

17:02.600 --> 17:04.600
Cheers to your

And on the front we have the last verse of our Bible memory passage. So if you're

18:52.060 --> 18:55.220
Memorizing this with us. This is our last verse will probably have a grace week there

18:55.220 --> 18:58.300
But we're memorizing verses one through eight of Psalm

18:59.020 --> 19:05.180
119 and so who's who's already completed this as far as quoting those first eight verses

19:05.500 --> 19:10.340
All right, we got lots of people so keep up the great work on our Bible memorization

19:10.860 --> 19:14.360
Also, we have service times church soul winning times

19:15.000 --> 19:18.720
regional times that meet in different parts of our area.

19:18.720 --> 19:20.840
So if you'd like to go soul winning throughout the week,

19:20.840 --> 19:22.480
there's a couple of different ladies times there,

19:22.480 --> 19:24.080
Tuesday and Thursday,

19:24.080 --> 19:26.000
and then several evening times

19:26.000 --> 19:28.260
with lots of different leaders there.

19:28.260 --> 19:30.320
Please keep up the great work for our soul winning.

19:30.320 --> 19:33.360
We're doing really good on our numbers so far for the year.

19:33.360 --> 19:36.040
And we wanna just continue and finish

19:36.040 --> 19:38.200
the second half of the year very strong as well.

19:38.600 --> 19:41.920
Several ladies are expecting if you'd please keep them in your prayers as well

19:42.720 --> 19:44.720
upcoming events we have

19:44.900 --> 19:49.140
the marathon in Arkansas that's just around the corner.

19:49.140 --> 19:51.780
If you haven't, please register online.

19:51.780 --> 19:53.420
There's on the back, there's a, well,

19:53.420 --> 19:55.220
there has been a QR code, but you can still just go

19:55.220 --> 19:56.860
to Godresource, oh, it's down here, I'm sorry.

19:56.860 --> 19:59.020
It's on the inside.

19:59.020 --> 20:00.580
There's a QR code if you'd like to scan,

20:00.580 --> 20:03.020
or you can just go straight to the godresource.com

20:03.020 --> 20:05.260
and you can register for that event.

20:05.260 --> 20:07.180
If you have questions, ask Brother Sam.

20:07.180 --> 20:08.780
He's helping to lead this event.

20:08.780 --> 20:11.380
They went there last year and it was very fruitful.

20:11.380 --> 20:12.900
Do you remember how many people you had?

20:12.900 --> 20:14.740
Dave last time? Any idea?

20:16.400 --> 20:21.000
Yeah, they had almost 100 or 200 people saved in just a couple days with kind of a smaller

20:21.000 --> 20:28.200
group so it was definitely very receptive and if you'd like to go and target some Marshallese

20:28.200 --> 20:31.520
immigrants so you don't even have to go all the way across the world, you can just go

20:31.520 --> 20:34.440
a few states over, right?

20:34.440 --> 20:36.200
Also we have several other events there.

20:36.200 --> 20:42.480
There's a teen summer event sign up sheet if you'd like to sign up for that and then

20:42.480 --> 20:43.600
that's pretty much it.

20:43.600 --> 20:44.400
the back we have the

20:44.400 --> 20:49.000
prayer list. Just definitely keep our church family in prayer. With that, we're going to

20:49.000 --> 20:53.480
go ahead and sing our third song for this morning. It's going to be Psalm 139. So we

20:53.480 --> 20:59.000
have a special Psalm booklet. If you turn in there, Psalm 139. Sing it out nice and

20:59.000 --> 20:59.400
loud.

21:12.400 --> 21:19.200
All right, that was Psalm 139. Psalm 139. Let's all sing that out together on that.

23:38.800 --> 23:41.840
everybody now as the offering plates are being passed around go and open your

23:41.840 --> 23:49.000
Bibles to the book of Ruth chapter number three that is Ruth chapter number three

24:52.400 --> 24:57.600
3 the Bible reads, Then Naomi her mother-in-law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek

24:57.600 --> 25:03.280
rest for thee, that it may be well with thee? And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose

25:03.280 --> 25:08.920
maidens thou wast? Behold, he went with Barley tonight in the threshing floor. Wash thyself

25:08.920 --> 25:13.760
therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor.

25:13.760 --> 25:17.760
But make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.

25:18.100 --> 25:22.580
And it shall be when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie,

25:22.580 --> 25:29.460
and thou shalt go in and uncover his feet and lay thee down, and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.

25:30.200 --> 25:33.440
And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me, I will do.

25:33.440 --> 25:37.640
And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law bade her.

25:37.640 --> 25:40.960
And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry,

25:40.960 --> 25:43.640
he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn,

25:43.640 --> 25:47.600
and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.

25:47.600 --> 25:51.600
And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself,

25:51.600 --> 25:54.440
and behold, a woman lay at his feet.

25:54.440 --> 25:56.000
And he said, Who art thou?

25:56.000 --> 25:58.200
And she answered, I am Ruth.

25:58.200 --> 26:04.040
thine handmaid. Spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid, for thou art a near kinsman."

26:04.040 --> 26:10.920
And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter, for thou hast showed more kindness

26:10.920 --> 26:16.560
in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followest not young men, whether poor

26:16.560 --> 26:21.640
or rich. And now, my daughter, fear not, I will do to thee all that thou requirest, for

26:21.640 --> 26:25.000
all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

26:25.600 --> 26:28.640
And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman.

26:28.640 --> 26:31.360
How be it, there is a kinsman nearer than I.

26:31.360 --> 26:33.680
Terry this night, and it shall be in the morning,

26:33.680 --> 26:37.040
that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman well,

26:37.040 --> 26:38.480
let him do the kinsman part.

26:38.800 --> 26:43.880
But if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman

26:43.880 --> 26:47.920
to thee, as the Lord liveth, lie down until the morning.

26:47.920 --> 26:52.380
And she lay at his feet until the morning, and she rose up before one could know another.

26:52.380 --> 26:56.240
And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.

26:56.240 --> 27:00.060
Also he said, Bring the veil that thou hast upon thee, and hold it.

27:00.060 --> 27:04.180
And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her.

27:04.180 --> 27:05.060
she went into the city.

27:05.600 --> 27:07.760
And when she came to her mother-in-law she said,

27:07.760 --> 27:09.240
Who art thou, my daughter?

27:09.240 --> 27:11.680
And she told her all that the man had done to her.

27:11.680 --> 27:15.040
And she said, these six measures of barley gave he me,

27:15.040 --> 27:18.880
for he said to me, go not empty unto thy mother-in-law.

27:18.880 --> 27:21.480
Then said she, sit still, my daughter,

27:21.480 --> 27:23.880
until thou know how the matter will fall.

27:23.880 --> 27:25.520
For the man will not be in rest

27:25.520 --> 27:28.240
until he have finished the thing this day.

27:28.240 --> 27:29.600
Let's bow our heads for a word of prayer.

27:31.700 --> 27:36.660
Father in heaven we just pray Lord God that you would bless the sermon this morning.

27:36.660 --> 27:42.820
Fill Pastor Shelley with your spirit and help us to give our full attention to the message

27:42.820 --> 27:48.020
and apply it to our lives. We ask for these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Amen.

27:48.200 --> 27:52.140
I want to look at a specific verse here and we're going to kind of go through the story of Ruth

27:52.140 --> 27:58.640
But it says here in verse number 11 and now my daughter fear not I will do to thee all that thou require

27:59.800 --> 28:03.400
for thou, for all the city of my people doth know

28:03.400 --> 28:08.160
that thou art a virtuous woman." So here in verse 11

28:08.160 --> 28:11.400
Ruth is described as a virtuous woman

28:11.400 --> 28:16.920
and she's the only woman in the Bible that is given that particular description.

28:16.920 --> 28:21.720
So the book of Proverbs brings up the idea of a virtuous woman.

28:21.720 --> 28:26.120
You know we typically think of this as like Proverbs 31 and the Bible describes

28:26.120 --> 28:27.800
what a godly or a virtuous woman would look like.

28:27.800 --> 28:33.280
like but the only woman that's actually given this title or someone calls them a virtuous

28:33.280 --> 28:38.640
woman is here in the book of Ruth about Ruth and so she's described as a virtuous woman

28:38.640 --> 28:42.180
and that's what I want to title my sermon this morning is a virtuous woman, a virtuous

28:42.180 --> 28:46.600
woman and we want to look at some examples of Ruth here that the text brings out about

28:46.600 --> 28:50.080
Ruth and see why she's described as this virtuous woman.

28:50.080 --> 28:54.280
Now I'm not going to read the whole story or the entire book of Ruth but it is a great

28:54.280 --> 28:55.800
story and just to give us a little

28:55.800 --> 28:59.960
idea, you know the Bible describes Ruth as a Moabitess, meaning that she was not

28:59.960 --> 29:03.320
of the children of Israel in the Old Testament, so she's not part of the

29:03.320 --> 29:09.640
Hebrews, she's not part of the ten tribes, she's a foreigner, and in the story we

29:09.640 --> 29:18.040
have a Israelite family that leaves and Naomi is her to-be mother-in-law, but

29:18.040 --> 29:21.840
essentially she loses her husband to Limelech and then her two sons, Malon and

29:21.840 --> 29:22.800
and chilly on.

29:23.000 --> 29:29.440
Ruth marries one of her sons, he dies, and so, actually they both die, all the men die,

29:29.440 --> 29:33.640
all the men die in this story.

29:33.640 --> 29:38.920
But then you have three widows basically, that's kind of where we're at in the story,

29:38.920 --> 29:43.360
is you kind of have, it picks up a story, you have three widows, you have Naomi, you

29:43.360 --> 29:46.440
have Orpa, and you have Ruth.

29:46.440 --> 29:48.960
Orpa never caught on as a name apparently.

29:48.960 --> 29:49.460
And uh...

29:50.200 --> 29:57.440
They're kind of deciding what to do now that there's these three widows. Okay, and in verse number 10 it says

29:58.500 --> 30:01.740
And they said unto her, surely we will return with thee unto thy people.

30:01.740 --> 30:03.700
So Naomi wants to go back home.

30:03.700 --> 30:05.300
They left Israel.

30:05.300 --> 30:07.020
They were so journeying in Moab.

30:07.020 --> 30:09.580
She wants to now return unto Israel.

30:09.580 --> 30:13.820
And the two daughters-in-law are saying, hey, we're going to go back with you.

30:13.820 --> 30:15.540
And notice again, it says they.

30:15.540 --> 30:17.340
So this is Orpah and Ruth.

30:17.340 --> 30:19.820
They both say, we are going back with you.

30:19.820 --> 30:21.700
That's the promise that they make.

30:22.100 --> 30:27.820
And it says, surely. Notice, surely is kind of like emphasizing like a promise.

30:27.820 --> 30:33.460
Like, hey, I'm promising I'm going to go there. Surely, this is going to for sure happen.

30:33.460 --> 30:37.100
You know, this is someone saying, like, I'm not going to go back on this.

30:37.100 --> 30:38.860
I'm surely going to do this.

30:38.860 --> 30:43.220
And it says in verse number 11, and Naomi said, turn again my daughters.

30:43.220 --> 30:47.260
Why will you go with me? Are there yet any more sons in my womb?

30:47.600 --> 30:49.360
that they may be your husbands?

30:49.360 --> 30:50.840
Turn again, my daughters, go your way,

30:50.840 --> 30:52.600
for I am too old to have a husband.

30:52.600 --> 30:54.240
If I should say I have hope,

30:54.240 --> 30:56.560
if I should have a husband also tonight,

30:56.560 --> 30:58.040
and should also bear sons,

30:58.040 --> 31:01.240
would you tarry for them till they were grown?

31:01.240 --> 31:03.920
Would you stay for them from having husbands?

31:03.920 --> 31:06.440
Nay, my daughters, for agree with me much for your sakes

31:06.440 --> 31:08.800
that the hand of the Lord has gone out against me."

31:08.800 --> 31:13.320
So, they're saying, we're gonna go back with you,

31:13.320 --> 31:15.560
but Naomi's protesting and saying no.

31:15.900 --> 31:18.900
And she's saying, you're not going to get a husband this way.

31:18.900 --> 31:21.900
And this is a big deal as a widow, especially at this time.

31:21.900 --> 31:23.900
You know, they don't have all this government assistance.

31:23.900 --> 31:26.900
They don't have ways to pay for themselves.

31:26.900 --> 31:28.900
So they really need a husband to protect them, to provide for them,

31:28.900 --> 31:31.900
all the things that are practically necessary for a husband.

31:31.900 --> 31:35.900
Only in modern-day America can women believe they don't need a man.

31:35.900 --> 31:40.900
But in this particular story, it's very obvious they need a man, someone to provide, protect.

31:41.400 --> 31:44.320
everything that they need from a husband here and she's like,

31:44.320 --> 31:47.120
hey, even if I got pregnant tonight,

31:47.120 --> 31:48.920
you're not gonna wait around.

31:48.920 --> 31:51.960
You're not gonna just wait for these guys to grow up

31:51.960 --> 31:53.840
and to then marry one of them.

31:53.840 --> 31:55.960
And again, that's kind of like a biblical principle

31:55.960 --> 31:58.160
that if a woman...

31:58.400 --> 32:02.160
had a husband and he died, that she would potentially

32:02.160 --> 32:05.520
marry a brother of that particular family,

32:05.520 --> 32:08.680
and the brother would raise up seed unto his brother.

32:08.680 --> 32:10.480
But again, and this, it's really extreme

32:10.480 --> 32:11.800
because they're not even alive.

32:11.800 --> 32:13.680
There's just like no one even alive.

32:13.900 --> 32:19.900
So there's no one of the closest of kin to marry, you know, within this family.

32:19.900 --> 32:23.900
It would go to extended family beyond this, but just in this scenario,

32:23.900 --> 32:26.900
she doesn't have another son for them to marry, and she's saying,

32:26.900 --> 32:28.500
you guys aren't going to wait.

32:28.900 --> 32:32.500
You're gonna basically not be willing to do such a thing.

32:32.500 --> 32:37.200
And so you need to just stay, go back, you know, be here in Moab.

32:37.200 --> 32:38.600
There's no point in you coming with me.

32:38.600 --> 32:39.200
Verse 14,

32:39.200 --> 32:42.600
And they lifted up their voice and wept again, and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law,

32:42.600 --> 32:45.300
but Ruth clave unto her.

32:45.300 --> 32:49.100
And she said, Behold, thy sister-in-law has gone back unto her people, and unto her gods.

32:49.100 --> 32:50.700
Return thou after thy sister-in-law.

32:50.700 --> 32:54.400
So they both say, we're definitely going back with you.

32:54.600 --> 32:57.900
And then as soon as Naomi says, no, don't come back with me,

32:57.900 --> 33:00.000
Orpah just gives her a kiss and leaves.

33:00.000 --> 33:03.200
And just basically just goes back on her word.

33:03.200 --> 33:04.000
But...

33:04.400 --> 33:10.780
Ruth says something different verse 16 and Ruth said and treat me not to leave thee or to return from following after thee for

33:10.780 --> 33:16.420
Whether thou goest I will go and where thou lodges I will lodge thy people shall be my people and my God my God

33:16.420 --> 33:23.600
Where thou diest will I die and there will I be buried the Lord do so to me and more also if ought

33:23.800 --> 33:26.440
But death part thee and me so notice

33:27.100 --> 33:31.180
She doubles down on her promise and she keeps her promise and she says,

33:31.180 --> 33:35.060
hey, the only thing that's going to separate me from you is death.

33:35.060 --> 33:38.940
And you know, think about this, it's a pretty honorable commitment that she's making

33:38.940 --> 33:41.060
because she's a widow herself.

33:41.060 --> 33:44.860
You know, it's, it's, she's willing to help and bless her mother-in-law,

33:44.860 --> 33:46.860
take care of a widow and her family.

33:47.000 --> 33:51.660
Even though herself is a widow. She's not someone that is well off

33:51.780 --> 33:58.200
She doesn't have the financial means to take care of her mother-in-law, but she just decides hey, I'm gonna stick with you

33:58.200 --> 34:02.920
I want your religion. I want your God. I want to be with you

34:03.040 --> 34:04.360
I'm gonna die with you

34:04.360 --> 34:10.060
And so you know I would say point one that we can learn from Ruth is that Ruth is someone when she makes a promise

34:10.360 --> 34:14.700
That she keeps her promise because they both said surely we're gonna go back with you

34:15.000 --> 34:17.200
But then one didn't and one did.

34:17.200 --> 34:19.600
And we see that when Ruth makes a promise,

34:19.600 --> 34:22.100
when Ruth says she's gonna keep her word,

34:22.100 --> 34:23.340
she actually keeps her word.

34:23.340 --> 34:25.600
And you know, that is a virtuous person.

34:25.600 --> 34:28.640
A virtuous person does not break their word.

34:28.640 --> 34:30.560
A virtuous person does not make.

34:30.700 --> 34:34.400
owes or make promises that they don't intend on keeping.

34:34.400 --> 34:36.400
And unfortunately in our society,

34:36.400 --> 34:39.400
many women are not going to keep their owes,

34:39.400 --> 34:40.800
they're not going to keep their promises.

34:40.800 --> 34:43.400
In fact, almost 50% of marriages

34:43.400 --> 34:46.400
are ending in divorce in America.

34:46.400 --> 34:48.300
That's just one promise.

34:48.300 --> 34:49.800
That's just one commitment

34:49.800 --> 34:52.500
that we could see where many people are not keeping their oath.

34:52.500 --> 34:54.300
And even if you look at statistics,

34:54.300 --> 34:58.200
women, by and large, are the initiators of divorce.

34:58.900 --> 35:01.140
And this is an even bigger commitment.

35:01.140 --> 35:07.220
I mean, making an oath to a husband is much more important in my mind than making an oath

35:07.220 --> 35:08.140
to a mother-in-law.

35:08.500 --> 35:14.700
But yet notice that Ruth not only would keep an oath unto a husband, she would keep an oath unto her mother-in-law.

35:14.700 --> 35:18.700
And when she makes a promise, when she says something is sure, she means it.

35:18.700 --> 35:20.700
That is a picture of a virtuous person.

35:20.700 --> 35:25.900
It's someone that's gonna keep their oath, keep their promise, even if it's not necessarily good for them.

35:25.900 --> 35:27.600
She's gonna have to leave her family.

35:27.900 --> 35:29.900
She's going to have to leave everything she knows.

35:29.900 --> 35:30.900
She has no wealth.

35:30.900 --> 35:33.200
She has no way to provide for her mother-in-law.

35:33.200 --> 35:34.400
Yet, she said,

35:34.400 --> 35:36.600
hey, I'm going back with you and that's what I'm going to do.

35:36.600 --> 35:38.600
She's going to keep her word and keep her promise.

35:38.600 --> 35:38.900
And you know what?

35:38.900 --> 35:41.400
What a godly woman for her to do something like that.

35:43.400 --> 35:47.900
Now, in verse 16, it says also,

35:47.900 --> 35:49.200
what does it say?

35:49.200 --> 35:51.000
She says, thy God, my God.

35:51.000 --> 35:52.900
Notice that she's someone who seeks God.

35:53.500 --> 35:57.340
So point one is that a virtuous woman is one who keeps her promises.

35:57.340 --> 36:00.020
Number two, it's one that seeks God.

36:00.020 --> 36:05.820
She's not going for the pleasures of this life or something fun or something good.

36:05.820 --> 36:10.900
She wants to seek the God of the Bible and she's elevating God over anything else.

36:11.300 --> 36:17.460
She's leaving everything. She has no money, no goods, no possessions, and she's not chasing that.

36:17.460 --> 36:23.860
I mean, it would be pretty nervous, you know, for a young lady to seek God with no money,

36:23.860 --> 36:29.620
no substance, no husband. And in fact, she's basically, if you understand the story,

36:29.620 --> 36:33.540
if you understand what's being communicated, she's basically consigning herself to be a widow.

36:34.180 --> 36:38.340
Because Naomi is saying, if you come back with me, there is no husband.

36:39.200 --> 36:40.700
There is no option here.

36:41.100 --> 36:42.900
Just go back to your people.

36:42.900 --> 36:44.900
And again, what would be the implication?

36:44.900 --> 36:46.580
She's just going to marry someone else.

36:46.580 --> 36:48.140
She's going to go back to the Moabites,

36:48.140 --> 36:52.500
marry a Moabite man, and just move on with her life.

36:52.500 --> 36:54.220
Whereas if she goes with Naomi,

36:54.220 --> 36:56.300
not only is she not going to have a husband,

36:56.300 --> 36:58.180
she has a burden of a mother-in-law

36:58.180 --> 37:00.460
that she now has to provide for and take care of

37:00.460 --> 37:01.780
and do good unto.

37:01.780 --> 37:04.420
But again, what is her main driving force?

37:04.420 --> 37:05.900
Why is she making these decisions?

37:05.900 --> 37:07.700
Because she's seeking the God of the Bible.

37:07.700 --> 37:08.540
She's seeking the Lord.

37:08.540 --> 37:09.100
She's elevating...

37:09.100 --> 37:14.300
religion, she's elevating a spiritual decision over a carnal decision.

37:14.300 --> 37:17.340
Because this decision does not make sense carnally.

37:17.340 --> 37:22.220
There's nothing about this decision that makes sense physically or is going to be

37:22.220 --> 37:27.420
financially beneficial, but rather she's moving for a spiritual reason, not a carnal reason.

37:27.420 --> 37:32.460
And you know, unfortunately, a lot of people today would look down upon someone moving for a spiritual reason.

37:32.900 --> 37:35.300
moving for the God of the Bible,

37:35.300 --> 37:36.900
or moving to draw closer to the Lord,

37:36.900 --> 37:38.600
or wanting to serve God,

37:38.600 --> 37:40.800
and elevating God above everything else,

37:40.800 --> 37:42.400
and say, oh, well, how, you know,

37:42.400 --> 37:44.000
how is that going to make sense financially?

37:44.000 --> 37:45.900
Well, it doesn't make sense financially.

37:45.900 --> 37:47.100
How is this going to make sense?

37:47.100 --> 37:49.400
You're, this is where your family is.

37:49.400 --> 37:51.300
Family is the most important thing.

37:51.300 --> 37:54.700
No, spiritual family is more important than physical family.

37:54.700 --> 37:57.400
And look, this is a big talking point.

37:58.000 --> 38:04.620
Many people tell you you do not leave physical family. You do not elevate you don't have a church above family

38:04.880 --> 38:10.360
Yet the Bible emphasizes church over family everywhere everywhere in the Bible

38:10.880 --> 38:17.260
Even Jesus Christ himself did not bother himself to spend time with his physical brethren and his mother

38:17.360 --> 38:19.800
He rather ministered to the people of God

38:20.600 --> 38:25.240
He said, hey, this is my mother, this is my brethren, and he elevated spiritual family

38:25.240 --> 38:26.720
above physical family.

38:27.600 --> 38:30.480
Did Jesus still care about physical family? Absolutely.

38:30.480 --> 38:36.000
Jesus on the cross is looking at John and saying, hey, behold thy mother.

38:36.000 --> 38:39.200
He wanted to make sure that his mother was taken care of in her old age.

38:39.200 --> 38:42.240
He still hung out with his mother at times. I mean, they went to the wedding of Canaan,

38:42.240 --> 38:47.280
his mother was there. He still, he still talked to his brothers and gave them opportunity to

38:47.280 --> 38:50.560
follow him and do good. But the thing is his brother didn't believe in him.

38:51.100 --> 38:53.860
And of course his mom did follow him most of his ministry.

38:53.860 --> 38:55.340
I mean, you see his mom around,

38:55.340 --> 38:56.500
you see his mom at the cross,

38:56.500 --> 38:58.940
you see his mom being involved in the ministry,

38:58.940 --> 39:01.980
but it wasn't because he was really elevating Mary.

39:01.980 --> 39:05.360
You know, isn't it funny, when you have literal Mary,

39:05.360 --> 39:08.380
you never have Jesus and the disciples bowing down to her,

39:08.380 --> 39:10.500
but now that they have a graven statue

39:10.500 --> 39:12.740
as the Catholics bow down to her.

39:12.740 --> 39:14.980
It's like, hey, if they were Catholic in the New Testament,

39:14.980 --> 39:17.000
wouldn't they have been bowing down to literal Mary?

39:17.400 --> 39:18.460
And it was funny, they're like,

39:18.460 --> 39:20.440
oh, why would we bow down to her or whatever?

39:20.440 --> 39:23.140
And she's like, you're bowing down to a statue of her.

39:23.300 --> 39:26.740
Why would that somehow be better than bowing down to the person?

39:26.740 --> 39:28.740
Yet you know what you never see in the Bible?

39:28.740 --> 39:31.460
Is anyone bowing down to literal Mary.

39:31.460 --> 39:36.980
Why? Because that would be blasphemous and idolatrous and wicked and she's not God.

39:36.980 --> 39:42.660
And again this title of Mother of God is a total misrepresentation of the facts

39:42.660 --> 39:44.980
and is trying to make it something that it's not.

39:44.980 --> 39:48.660
And look we don't bow down to Mary, we don't worship Mary.

39:48.660 --> 39:50.980
Oh we're not worshiping, we're venerating.

39:51.300 --> 39:54.300
Okay, let me tell you something. When you bow the knee to something, that's called worship.

39:54.300 --> 39:57.600
Oh, you're misrepresenting Catholics.

39:57.600 --> 40:00.400
No, I'm not misrepresenting Catholics. I'm telling you exactly what they do.

40:00.400 --> 40:04.100
They bow down the knee to graven images that are called Mary,

40:04.100 --> 40:08.100
and at the end of the day, it's blasphemous, it's wicked, it's idolatrous.

40:08.700 --> 40:15.420
Okay? And you know, we should not be serving pagan gods like the Mobites, like the Catholics.

40:15.420 --> 40:20.380
We should leave that. Hey, if you're born Catholic, if you're raised Catholic, you should leave that

40:21.100 --> 40:26.860
and elevate your Baptist family above your Catholic family. Why? Because it's not about

40:26.860 --> 40:31.580
physical family. It's about the family of God. It's about spiritual things. And let me tell you

40:31.580 --> 40:36.300
something, a virtuous woman elevates God over physical family.

40:37.900 --> 40:43.020
The Bible literally even just says that you're supposed to leave and cleave anyways.

40:43.020 --> 40:47.580
And you know, when we get born again, when we become the, quote, bride of Christ,

40:47.580 --> 40:49.660
hey, we're supposed to leave and we're supposed to cleave.

40:49.660 --> 40:53.340
Hey, we're supposed to cleave unto Christ and leave our physical family behind,

40:53.340 --> 40:54.940
if you like that metaphor.

40:54.940 --> 40:56.700
But why is she a virtuous woman?

40:56.700 --> 40:59.340
Well, she keeps her promise and she seeks God.

40:59.340 --> 41:02.620
And let me tell you something, a godly man wants this in a woman.

41:03.000 --> 41:04.800
A godly man wants a sin a woman.

41:04.800 --> 41:06.600
He wants a woman that's going to keep her word,

41:06.600 --> 41:08.400
that's going to keep her promises,

41:08.400 --> 41:09.600
that she's going to be loyal,

41:09.600 --> 41:11.000
and she's seeking God.

41:11.000 --> 41:12.700
She's seeking the things of the Lord.

41:12.700 --> 41:14.200
She's not seeking money.

41:14.200 --> 41:15.500
She's not seeking wealth.

41:15.500 --> 41:17.000
She's not seeking pleasure.

41:17.000 --> 41:20.400
And she would even be willing to leave her entire homeland,

41:20.400 --> 41:21.800
her entire family,

41:21.800 --> 41:25.100
and everything behind to seek the God of the Bible.

41:25.100 --> 41:28.700
And the Bible calls this a virtuous woman.

41:29.200 --> 41:30.400
A virtuous woman.

41:30.400 --> 41:33.360
You know what a lot of people would call this today

41:33.360 --> 41:35.880
in modern vernacular?

41:35.880 --> 41:37.160
It's called a passport bro.

41:37.160 --> 41:38.160
Who knows what I'm talking about?

41:40.160 --> 41:42.040
Yeah, they can't find a woman in their land

41:42.040 --> 41:44.640
so they go to a foreign nation to get a lady

41:44.640 --> 41:46.800
and then they bring her back

41:46.800 --> 41:49.680
and they might call this a quote passport bro.

41:50.000 --> 41:55.400
And you know, there's this idea out there, and again, it's real, is that some women in

41:55.400 --> 42:01.320
foreign countries only want to get married for the green card or for immigration status.

42:01.320 --> 42:02.640
But here's the thing.

42:02.640 --> 42:09.040
Notice that in the Bible, it praises Ruth for leaving her homeland and coming back to

42:09.040 --> 42:09.840
serve God.

42:10.300 --> 42:12.740
So it's actually not a negative thing, it's a positive thing.

42:12.740 --> 42:17.100
And you know, you could falsely accuse someone that actually has the right motivations,

42:17.100 --> 42:22.600
godly motivations, because look, for most people, leaving family and leaving the country that they grew up in is very difficult.

42:23.500 --> 42:25.700
There's just something about your native tongue.

42:25.700 --> 42:30.100
There's something about your native food and language and all this kind of stuff.

42:30.100 --> 42:36.500
I mean, it's just, it's just, it's very ingrained in who we are that we just love that setting

42:36.500 --> 42:38.260
and it's very difficult to walk away.

42:38.260 --> 42:45.700
And so a woman leaving everything behind to go and be married or to serve the Lord, you

42:45.700 --> 42:51.500
know, that speaks to their virtue, not to someone that's doing something for evil reasons.

42:51.500 --> 42:53.440
for bad reasons or whatever.

42:53.440 --> 42:57.420
And we wouldn't want to falsely accuse them or act like they're somehow doing something

42:57.420 --> 42:59.060
for an ulterior motive.

42:59.060 --> 43:03.580
In many cases, it's a sign of their virtue, not the opposite.

43:03.580 --> 43:07.660
And so we don't want to sit here and look down upon some lady that's coming from a foreign

43:07.660 --> 43:08.660
country.

43:08.660 --> 43:12.360
In fact, that's what makes Ruth very special is that she's willing to do such a thing.

43:12.360 --> 43:14.980
And it shows her virtue and it shows that she's seeking God.

43:14.980 --> 43:16.000
And you know what?

43:16.000 --> 43:19.500
We should praise women that would be willing to elevate this and seek.

43:19.500 --> 43:25.460
the Lord even though they have to leave behind their family or their country or their native

43:25.460 --> 43:27.980
tongue or whatever because it's very difficult.

43:27.980 --> 43:31.660
It's very difficult for men and especially women.

43:31.660 --> 43:33.540
Now let's keep reading here in verse 17.

43:33.540 --> 43:36.980
She says, where in thou die'st will I die and there will I be buried.

43:36.980 --> 43:42.380
The Lord do so to me and more also if ought but death doth part thee and me.

43:42.380 --> 43:44.300
When she saw, this is talking about Naomi.

43:44.300 --> 43:44.400
you

43:44.400 --> 43:48.960
when she saw that she was steadfastly minded to go with her,

43:48.960 --> 43:51.200
then she left speaking under.

43:51.200 --> 43:52.300
You know what I like about Ruth?

43:52.300 --> 43:54.700
She's also steadfast, you know what I mean?

43:54.700 --> 43:58.200
And, you know, that's another great attribute

43:58.200 --> 44:00.700
is not only does she keep her promise,

44:00.700 --> 44:02.100
not only is she seeking God,

44:02.100 --> 44:04.000
but she continues to seek God

44:04.000 --> 44:06.400
and she continues to keep her promise.

44:06.400 --> 44:09.100
Because look, it's one thing to say,

44:09.100 --> 44:10.700
I'm going to go back with you.

44:10.700 --> 44:12.100
It's another thing to do it.

44:12.400 --> 44:15.040
But it's another thing to keep doing it.

44:15.040 --> 44:19.320
It's one thing to seek God, but it's another thing to keep seeking God.

44:19.320 --> 44:25.640
Hey, it's easy sometimes to serve God at the very beginning when you're excited about the truth.

44:25.640 --> 44:30.200
You know, sometimes you just realize like, oh wow, I've been lied to or the Bible's exciting,

44:30.200 --> 44:32.760
or you've never heard anything in the Bible.

44:32.760 --> 44:35.680
And look, a lot of things are just fun because they're new.

44:36.000 --> 44:41.200
You know, I mean, it's enjoyable to watch sometimes a movie for the first time because you've never seen it.

44:41.200 --> 44:46.600
But you know, there's some movies that are kind of like, I enjoyed it because I've never seen it, but I don't really want to watch it again.

44:46.600 --> 44:51.600
And then there's some movies that you would just watch ad nauseum, okay?

44:51.600 --> 44:57.200
And I'm not really this type of person in general, but you know, my wife, she loves some movies.

44:57.200 --> 45:01.000
Like, there's some movies that I feel like she could just watch over and over and over and over again.

45:01.400 --> 45:03.400
And she just really loves it.

45:03.400 --> 45:07.300
You know, she's steadfast for those movies, you know what I mean?

45:08.200 --> 45:10.600
And here's the thing, there's two different kinds of Christians.

45:10.600 --> 45:12.520
There's the Christians, they like Christianity,

45:12.520 --> 45:15.640
or they like being in a Baptist church for the novelty of it.

45:15.640 --> 45:17.960
But then there's the people that are steadfast,

45:17.960 --> 45:21.480
where they actually like it, they watch it over and over and over again,

45:21.480 --> 45:23.240
and they don't grow tired of it.

45:23.240 --> 45:25.880
They're not complaining about it all the time.

45:25.880 --> 45:28.680
They're not making all these excuses about it.

45:28.680 --> 45:30.440
No, they just, they actually just love it.

45:30.440 --> 45:32.360
They actually like coming to church.

45:32.360 --> 45:34.920
They actually talk positively about reading the Bible.

45:34.920 --> 45:36.200
They actually like telling...

45:36.200 --> 45:40.920
the old story. Oh, you just, you go so in it, you just say the same thing over and over

45:40.920 --> 45:45.000
again. Yeah, exactly. Because I love to tell the story, that old, old story.

45:45.400 --> 45:46.840
Yeah, I love church.

45:46.840 --> 45:50.800
Oh, well, I've already heard everything Pastor Shirley has to say,

45:50.800 --> 45:52.800
or I've already read the Bible cover to cover.

45:52.800 --> 45:55.000
You know what? Well, you're not steadfast then.

45:55.000 --> 45:57.500
Because you know what? A steadfast person can't get enough of it,

45:57.500 --> 45:59.700
and they just keep coming, and they just keep going.

45:59.700 --> 46:00.700
It's the energizer bunny.

46:00.700 --> 46:03.100
He just keeps going and going and going and going.

46:03.100 --> 46:05.200
Why? Because he just loves the things of God.

46:05.200 --> 46:09.600
And you know what? A virtuous woman is one that's not going to serve God for five minutes.

46:09.600 --> 46:12.700
But hey, she's steadfast, and she's just going to keep serving God.

46:12.700 --> 46:13.400
when T.

46:13.400 --> 46:18.780
death. Hey, she has a till death marriage and she has a till death faith and she's not

46:18.780 --> 46:23.180
going to get off course. She's always abounding in the work of the Lord. She realizes, hey,

46:23.180 --> 46:27.080
I only have one life to live. I only have one opportunity to work and I'm going to spend

46:27.080 --> 46:32.180
all my time working for God and I'm not going to give up. I want to be in the best church

46:32.180 --> 46:36.700
and the best environment serving God because you know what? That is what my life is calling

46:36.700 --> 46:37.120
is.

46:37.400 --> 46:48.800
Why would it not be? Why would my life's calling not be to be in the best part of the world where I can serve God the most and serve God and serve my family and help those around me?

46:48.800 --> 46:57.500
And she doesn't even know what her future really beholds, but just the little bit that she does know, she cleaves to it and you know what? The Lord's going to greatly bless her for it.

46:57.500 --> 47:01.700
But notice she's a steadfast woman. She's a virtuous woman.

47:01.900 --> 47:09.100
What's a virtuous woman? One that is steadfast, always abounding in the work of the Lord, she's unmovable, she's not going to change, her faith isn't changing.

47:10.200 --> 47:14.600
Is anything going to change this woman? No. Death is the only thing separating her.

47:14.900 --> 47:19.000
Death is the only thing that's going to, she's making a vow till death.

47:19.200 --> 47:26.800
And you know what? What a great marriage vow, but what a great vow internally to make to the Lord in the sense that you say, hey, I want to serve God until I die.

47:27.100 --> 47:29.500
And you know what? This makes her a very virtuous woman.

47:29.500 --> 47:31.980
Look at chapter 2 now, verse number 2.

47:31.980 --> 47:32.380
And it says,

47:32.380 --> 47:34.460
And Ruth the Moabite said unto Naomi,

47:34.460 --> 47:39.100
Let me go, now go to the field and glean ears of corn after him,

47:39.100 --> 47:41.180
in whose sight I shall find grace.

47:41.180 --> 47:42.940
And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.

47:42.940 --> 47:47.020
So, not only did she make this promise,

47:47.020 --> 47:48.300
not only is she seeking God,

47:48.940 --> 47:50.460
not only is she steadfast,

47:50.460 --> 47:53.340
but she's willing to work with her hands.

47:53.800 --> 48:01.000
She's willingly going to work because, you know, what she signed up for wasn't fun.

48:01.000 --> 48:02.000
It was work.

48:02.000 --> 48:04.320
You're going to have to go into a strange land.

48:04.320 --> 48:05.360
You don't have food.

48:05.360 --> 48:06.360
You don't have substance.

48:06.360 --> 48:09.200
And she's not going to go out on the street corner begging.

48:09.200 --> 48:12.160
She's not going to go around looking for freebies.

48:12.160 --> 48:13.720
She's not going to see what she can get.

48:13.720 --> 48:14.800
She's like, I know what I had.

48:14.800 --> 48:16.360
I know what I signed up for.

48:16.360 --> 48:16.860
It was work.

48:17.500 --> 48:18.780
and I'm gonna get to work.

48:18.780 --> 48:21.300
She gets there, and now I'm gonna go to work,

48:21.300 --> 48:23.820
I'm gonna go in the field, Naomi can't work,

48:23.820 --> 48:25.580
I'm gonna work, I'm gonna provide,

48:25.580 --> 48:27.340
I'm gonna take care of her, and you know what?

48:27.340 --> 48:28.500
She's willing to take care of people

48:28.500 --> 48:29.820
that can't take care of themselves.

48:29.820 --> 48:32.140
And she's willing to work with her hands.

48:32.140 --> 48:34.340
Hey, they may not be able to work, but I can work,

48:34.340 --> 48:35.780
and I'm gonna do what I can,

48:35.780 --> 48:39.140
and I'm gonna put my hands to work.

48:39.140 --> 48:41.540
A great woman is using her hands for work.

48:42.700 --> 48:45.500
You know, some women are consigning their hands to never do work.

48:45.500 --> 48:49.500
Right? They decorate them so fancy, and now they can't do any work.

48:49.500 --> 48:52.700
Or they got like six inch nails or something like this, you know?

48:52.700 --> 48:56.100
Or they got these long nails and they can't even do anything.

48:56.100 --> 48:59.500
And they got little manicure and they just don't want to do anything.

48:59.500 --> 49:02.700
This is the opposite. This woman's willing to go dig in the dirt.

49:02.700 --> 49:04.900
This woman's willing to go out work in the field.

49:04.900 --> 49:07.500
How long do you think that manicure is going to last?

49:08.200 --> 49:11.640
And look, I'm not mad at you if you got a manicure, but you know what?

49:11.640 --> 49:15.720
If it's stopping you from working, you know, you might have a problem there.

49:15.720 --> 49:16.520
Right?

49:16.520 --> 49:20.680
You might have a problem if you're consigning your hands to be idle.

49:20.680 --> 49:24.840
You know, the Bible pictures are hands being made to work.

49:24.840 --> 49:26.440
They're not trophies.

49:26.440 --> 49:29.240
They're not meant to just, look at my hands, you know.

49:29.300 --> 49:31.300
Just look at them. They're so beautiful.

49:31.300 --> 49:33.300
No, no, hands are made to work.

49:33.300 --> 49:35.300
I mean, you know, in robotics,

49:35.300 --> 49:39.300
one of the most difficult things for them to emulate is a hand.

49:40.000 --> 49:45.200
Because the way that God created a hand is just so complex.

49:45.200 --> 49:46.000
There's just so many.

49:46.000 --> 49:51.100
In fact, AI, what is the most difficult thing for AI to make in videos and images?

49:51.100 --> 49:52.100
It's hands.

49:52.100 --> 49:54.700
The hands always look like this or whatever.

49:54.700 --> 49:58.300
And it's like it can't even figure out how to like make the hands right.

49:58.300 --> 50:04.900
Why? Because the hands are a very complex tool used to accomplish work.

50:04.900 --> 50:06.200
That's why it's so amazing.

50:06.200 --> 50:07.600
I mean, hands are amazing.

50:07.700 --> 50:12.700
You've got five fingers and they bend in all kinds of different ways and they have strength

50:12.700 --> 50:15.380
and they have all these different muscles and all these different tendons.

50:15.380 --> 50:16.380
Why?

50:16.380 --> 50:22.460
Not to just be put in a trophy case to look at, but to be used to work.

50:22.460 --> 50:26.260
And not just men's hands, women's hands were made to work.

50:26.900 --> 50:29.300
That's what the Bible is describing here.

50:29.300 --> 50:33.700
Hey, I'm going to go into the field and I'm going to glean ears of corn.

50:33.700 --> 50:37.860
You have to go in that, you have to literally like get and peel these things and rip them off.

50:37.860 --> 50:39.860
I mean it is hard work.

50:39.860 --> 50:42.820
It's going to get some callus on those pretty little hands of yours.

50:43.780 --> 50:45.140
You're going to get some blisters.

50:45.700 --> 50:47.220
It's going to be difficult.

50:47.220 --> 50:49.220
You're going to have to put in some effort and some energy.

50:49.220 --> 50:49.620
And you know what?

50:49.620 --> 50:52.180
She's a virtuous woman because she's willing to work with her hands.

50:52.700 --> 50:55.460
She's not a type of woman that just says, hey, I don't want to work.

50:55.460 --> 50:58.340
She's like, hey, put me in the field and I'll work.

50:58.340 --> 51:03.580
That's what I love about, you know, a lot of ladies at our church is that they're willing

51:03.580 --> 51:06.920
to go in the field and work because they're a soul winner.

51:06.920 --> 51:07.920
They're willing to carry a Bible.

51:07.920 --> 51:13.300
I mean, they'll carry a baby on them and a Bible and toddlers, and they're going out

51:13.300 --> 51:16.180
there and they're flipping the pages and they're showing people how to be saved.

51:17.100 --> 51:21.520
Women that are willing to work women that are willing to go into the field and do something

51:21.520 --> 51:26.080
You know what? That's a virtuous woman a virtuous woman. That's willing to work. She's not sitting

51:26.680 --> 51:32.000
Thinking how can I do less work tomorrow? She's saying hey put me in a field. I want to work

51:32.480 --> 51:34.720
That's my role. That's my got my job

51:34.720 --> 51:40.920
And of course in verse 3 it says and she went and came and gleaned in the field after the Reapers and her hat

51:41.700 --> 51:45.200
was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz,

51:45.200 --> 51:46.900
who was of the kindred of a limelight.

51:46.900 --> 51:50.700
Now, hap is kind of an older word.

51:50.700 --> 51:55.700
We think of it as like a chance or luck or by just circumstance.

51:55.700 --> 51:59.700
You know, I would say I kind of like lengthen the word to help me understand how to...

52:00.100 --> 52:07.240
Remember the definition. It's like it just happened. It just happened to be that she's where she's supposed to be

52:07.240 --> 52:12.040
It just happened to be that she's in the right place at the right time

52:12.580 --> 52:17.220
Why well keep your finger go to Psalm 37 for a moment go to Psalm 37 for a moment

52:18.780 --> 52:21.780
When you say hey, I want to serve God

52:22.300 --> 52:25.020
When you say, hey, I'm going to keep my promises.

52:25.020 --> 52:27.340
When you say, hey, I'm going to be steadfast.

52:27.340 --> 52:29.420
When you say, hey, I want to work.

52:29.420 --> 52:30.940
You know what God will do?

52:30.940 --> 52:35.580
God will put you in the right place at the right time to do the right thing.

52:36.800 --> 52:40.300
Why? Well, what does the Bible say in Psalm 37? Look at verse 23.

52:40.300 --> 52:45.300
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and he delighteth in his way.

52:45.300 --> 52:50.800
The Bible says, hey, if you are seeking God and you're trying to do good,

52:50.800 --> 52:56.300
God will find a place to put you and he'll put you in the exact right field,

52:56.300 --> 53:02.800
at the exact right time, with the exact right people in your life to accomplish your work.

53:03.300 --> 53:09.260
But see, when you don't want to work, when you don't want to serve God, when you don't

53:09.260 --> 53:12.340
want to keep your oaths, you know what you're going to end up doing?

53:12.340 --> 53:17.800
You're going to end up finding the wrong people in the wrong place at the wrong time.

53:17.800 --> 53:22.900
And God will allow you to go to the wrong place and be around the wrong men and be around

53:22.900 --> 53:25.740
the wrong people and they will destroy your life.

53:26.700 --> 53:28.900
That's why your heart is so important.

53:28.900 --> 53:30.300
And it's important where you go.

53:30.300 --> 53:32.100
And notice the steps of a good man.

53:32.100 --> 53:32.900
Where you go.

53:32.900 --> 53:35.100
Look, we have freedom.

53:35.100 --> 53:37.500
And isn't this the big thing that everybody's talking about?

53:37.500 --> 53:40.500
It's like, I want to know the will of God in my life.

53:40.500 --> 53:42.500
Or I want to know what God wants me to do.

53:42.500 --> 53:44.300
Or I want to know where God wants me to be.

53:44.300 --> 53:49.100
And in America, you have so many paths available to you.

53:49.900 --> 53:53.140
There's so many paths, and because of feminism,

53:53.140 --> 53:56.940
many bad paths have been open to the young ladies in our world today.

53:56.940 --> 54:00.180
Oh, you can become a boss, babe. You can become a career woman.

54:00.180 --> 54:03.180
You can go to college. You can join a sorority.

54:03.600 --> 54:07.200
You can go and sell your body online.

54:07.200 --> 54:11.520
There's so many different paths available to young women today.

54:11.520 --> 54:13.600
But let me tell you something, the good woman,

54:13.600 --> 54:16.640
the woman that says, hey, I actually want to serve God with my life.

54:16.640 --> 54:20.560
Hey, I actually want to do what's right.

54:20.560 --> 54:23.840
God will put them in the right place at the right time with the right men.

54:23.840 --> 54:26.720
And you know what's funny about it?

54:26.720 --> 54:29.440
Why go back to Moab?

54:30.500 --> 54:32.500
and not with Naomi.

54:32.500 --> 54:34.500
Let's just be really frank.

54:34.500 --> 54:36.500
One of the reasons is because of money.

54:36.500 --> 54:38.500
Because if you go with Naomi,

54:38.500 --> 54:40.500
you're probably not going to get a husband,

54:40.500 --> 54:42.500
and you're probably not going to have much money,

54:42.500 --> 54:44.500
you're probably going to be poor, you could go back to Moab,

54:44.500 --> 54:47.500
you try to find a guy to give you some money.

54:47.500 --> 54:50.500
Why do so many women sell their bodies online?

54:50.500 --> 54:52.500
For money.

54:52.500 --> 54:54.500
Isn't that, I mean, there's only one reason why they're doing it.

54:54.500 --> 54:56.500
They're not just like it was so much fun.

54:57.800 --> 55:00.440
I just love being objectified.

55:00.440 --> 55:04.360
I just love the scummiest, most disgusting men in the world

55:04.360 --> 55:05.880
ogling me.

55:05.880 --> 55:08.280
Women hate this, right?

55:08.280 --> 55:10.760
I mean, if a creepy dude walks up to a girl,

55:10.760 --> 55:12.880
she can't be more disgusted.

55:12.880 --> 55:15.440
It's like, eh, get away from me, you know?

55:15.440 --> 55:18.880
It's like, a guy could walk up and say, hi, how are you?

55:18.880 --> 55:21.240
If he's ugly, it was harassment.

55:21.240 --> 55:22.200
Now I'm going to have to get in the car.

55:22.700 --> 55:24.700
If he's David Beckham, there was no problem.

55:24.700 --> 55:25.700
You know what I mean?

55:25.700 --> 55:30.700
It's just like, for some reason, it's the exact same actions.

55:30.700 --> 55:32.700
It's just like, is he ugly or not?

55:32.700 --> 55:34.700
Or more importantly, is he rich or not?

55:34.700 --> 55:37.700
At first, the ugly guy, it was like, this is harassment.

55:37.700 --> 55:39.700
And then he's like, I'm a millionaire.

55:39.700 --> 55:42.700
And she's like, I'm just joking.

55:42.700 --> 55:44.700
It was awesome.

55:45.200 --> 55:49.040
Because let's just be honest, I was a woman, you're not typically the provider,

55:49.040 --> 55:50.640
so they're looking for a provider.

55:50.640 --> 55:52.480
There's nothing wrong with a woman looking for a provider.

55:52.480 --> 55:54.480
But isn't it funny, she doesn't seek a provider,

55:54.480 --> 55:56.800
and then she's going to end up marrying Boaz with Super Rich.

55:58.080 --> 56:01.840
It's like she didn't seek riches, she didn't seek wealth at all.

56:02.480 --> 56:04.800
She's seeking to work, and then she's just going to happen

56:04.800 --> 56:08.480
to end up finding the really wealthy guy anyways.

56:08.800 --> 56:11.500
Because look, God already knows the desires of your heart,

56:11.500 --> 56:14.600
and God wants to bless you with things that you need anyways.

56:14.600 --> 56:17.000
And I'm not saying if you seek God, you're gonna marry a rich guy.

56:17.000 --> 56:18.500
I'm not saying that.

56:18.500 --> 56:21.200
But what I am saying is she did.

56:21.200 --> 56:23.500
What I am saying is that she didn't seek this,

56:23.500 --> 56:25.200
and then God gave it to her anyways.

56:25.200 --> 56:26.900
Solomon didn't seek wealth,

56:26.900 --> 56:29.000
and then God gave it to him anyways.

56:29.000 --> 56:31.200
And you know, in many cases, it's like many people,

56:31.200 --> 56:33.900
they want fame, fortune, or money,

56:33.900 --> 56:35.600
and they seek it on their own.

56:35.700 --> 56:37.200
But they never get it.

56:37.200 --> 56:41.200
Whereas if you actually seek God, sometimes they'll give you those things anyways.

56:41.200 --> 56:44.000
And because you sought it for a good reason.

56:44.000 --> 56:48.000
You weren't seeking the fame for self-aggrandizement.

56:48.000 --> 56:53.100
You were seeking it because, hey, you're seeking God and he gives you fame so you can use it for the Lord.

56:53.100 --> 56:54.900
You can use it for the things of God.

56:54.900 --> 56:59.700
Or you weren't seeking wealth, but then God gives you the wealth so that you can be, what, a generous person or help other people.

56:59.700 --> 57:02.000
You know, Boaz is very, very wealthy.

57:02.200 --> 57:05.240
But do you think that God doesn't like the fact that Boaz is wealthy?

57:05.240 --> 57:08.040
Boaz is one of the most generous people on the planet.

57:08.040 --> 57:10.760
So it's great that he's wealthy, right?

57:10.760 --> 57:17.160
It's not very beneficial to God to have the most generous person on the planet be poor.

57:17.160 --> 57:20.600
Why do you think it is that God loves a cheerful giver?

57:20.600 --> 57:22.040
Let me explain something to you.

57:22.040 --> 57:23.640
You want to be blessed?

57:23.640 --> 57:24.920
You want to have riches?

57:24.920 --> 57:26.440
Why don't you be a generous person?

57:27.100 --> 57:31.800
Because what's the point in God just blessing Ebenezer Scrooge

57:31.800 --> 57:37.140
and just giving just all this wealth to someone that's going to be stingy and selfish with everything they have?

57:37.140 --> 57:40.480
You know what? God loves somebody that's going to be a generous person.

57:40.480 --> 57:44.560
And of course, Ruth doesn't really want money, so she gets it.

57:44.560 --> 57:47.200
Boaz is a generous person, so he gets it.

57:47.200 --> 57:51.360
And this is just how the world works because God is the one in control, folks.

57:51.360 --> 57:54.860
Whether you like it or not, every step is ordered by the Lord.

57:55.600 --> 58:00.160
Hey, you seek God, He'll put you in the right place at the right time to marry the right person.

58:00.160 --> 58:02.160
And let me tell you something, this world is scary.

58:04.600 --> 58:08.520
You know, if I were to think like, hey, you have to go marry someone, if, if, you know,

58:08.520 --> 58:11.420
even for my children, I'm thinking like, that's a scary dilemma.

58:11.420 --> 58:12.600
How do you know you're going to marry the right person?

58:12.600 --> 58:14.400
How are you going to marry someone that's sincere?

58:14.400 --> 58:15.560
But you know what?

58:15.560 --> 58:19.520
If you're seeking God, I think you'll marry the right person.

58:19.520 --> 58:22.140
And in many cases, it's not going to be what you wanted.

58:22.140 --> 58:27.280
You know, in some ways, the Bible brings up that Boaz is probably not someone she would

58:27.280 --> 58:29.160
have typically married because he's older.

58:29.800 --> 58:34.200
But you know in the Bible, most of the time, young women are marrying older men.

58:34.200 --> 58:37.000
You know, there's a 10-year gap between Isaac and Rebecca.

58:37.960 --> 58:42.120
Obviously there's a noticeable age gap here in this story. I don't know what it is. It doesn't

58:42.120 --> 58:47.960
give us an exact amount of time here. But there's a lot of times where it's a little bit of a

58:47.960 --> 58:54.760
mismatch in age. And that's okay. Who cares about that kind of stuff? It's a mismatch in racial identity.

58:55.000 --> 58:59.560
or ethnics. She's from Moab, he's from Israel. That doesn't matter.

59:00.100 --> 59:04.900
You know, many people today, they care too much about things that aren't really important,

59:04.900 --> 59:08.580
the carnal. They care so much about the carnal and not about the spiritual.

59:08.580 --> 59:13.540
You know, it's better to be married to someone that has a weight, a big age gap,

59:13.540 --> 59:17.220
and is not from the same country, but hey, wants to serve God with you,

59:17.220 --> 59:23.700
than someone that's really close in age and is the exact same, you know, skin tone or whatever.

59:24.300 --> 59:26.460
And yet they don't want to serve God.

59:26.460 --> 59:28.420
That's not a good match in the Bible.

59:28.420 --> 59:32.660
So we need to elevate the spiritual attributes of a person over their carnal attributes.

59:32.660 --> 59:34.660
And what's the great thing about Ruth?

59:34.660 --> 59:36.660
She's willing to work with her hands.

59:39.100 --> 59:41.300
Go, if you would, back to Ruth chapter 2.

59:41.300 --> 59:43.500
And we're going to kind of, I'm going to try my best

59:43.500 --> 59:44.600
to just get through this story.

59:44.600 --> 59:46.700
And then we're going to look at it like four different times.

59:46.700 --> 59:48.600
OK, we're just going to keep going through the same story.

59:48.600 --> 59:50.800
And we're just look at different layers of the story.

59:50.800 --> 59:55.400
But number five, I want to point out and look at verse number 17.

59:56.200 --> 01:00:13.200
So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned, and it was about an ifah of barley, and she took it up and went into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned, and she brought forth and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.

01:00:13.200 --> 01:00:18.200
So not only is she feeding herself, she gave to her a portion.

01:00:18.500 --> 01:00:24.540
So, she gives a portion to Naomi, who didn't work, who didn't do the hard job.

01:00:24.540 --> 01:00:26.140
She's providing for others.

01:00:26.140 --> 01:00:27.840
So what makes Ruth a virtuous woman?

01:00:27.840 --> 01:00:29.060
She keeps her promise.

01:00:29.060 --> 01:00:30.180
She seeks God.

01:00:30.180 --> 01:00:31.340
She's steadfast.

01:00:31.340 --> 01:00:32.940
She's willingly working with her hands.

01:00:32.940 --> 01:00:34.680
And number five, she gives a portion.

01:00:34.680 --> 01:00:36.260
She gives a portion to others.

01:00:36.260 --> 01:00:37.260
She's blessing others.

01:00:37.260 --> 01:00:37.900
She's generous.

01:00:39.100 --> 01:00:42.140
Hey, why would Ruth get to marry a rich guy?

01:00:42.140 --> 01:00:44.460
Well, she's already shown how generous she is,

01:00:44.460 --> 01:00:47.060
so then God's going to bless her so that she can be generous again

01:00:47.060 --> 01:00:49.720
with the wealth that God will bestow upon her.

01:00:49.720 --> 01:00:52.500
She's already proven that she's faithful in that which is least,

01:00:52.500 --> 01:00:55.240
so then she'll also be faithful in that which is much.

01:00:55.240 --> 01:00:57.560
Because when you're not faithful in that which is least,

01:00:57.560 --> 01:00:59.860
you're not going to be faithful in that which is much.

01:00:59.860 --> 01:01:04.240
You know, we should elevate politicians and leaders in our country

01:01:04.240 --> 01:01:06.820
that have shown themselves to be faithful in that which is least.

01:01:07.400 --> 01:01:11.080
But unfortunately we see in many cases our politicians and leaders today,

01:01:11.080 --> 01:01:13.400
they're not even faithful in anything.

01:01:13.400 --> 01:01:15.560
And then they're not faithful to their wife.

01:01:16.100 --> 01:01:18.100
They're not faithful to the business partners.

01:01:18.100 --> 01:01:23.100
They're not faithful to the promises and the O's that they make when they're in their campaign promises.

01:01:23.100 --> 01:01:25.100
Why are we elevating these different people?

01:01:25.100 --> 01:01:28.100
You know, why are we fooling ourselves? Why are we tricking ourselves and thinking,

01:01:28.100 --> 01:01:30.100
oh, this time they're going to keep their promises?

01:01:30.100 --> 01:01:32.100
I know they never have before.

01:01:32.100 --> 01:01:35.100
I know that they're not faithful to their wife at all, but they'll be faithful to me.

01:01:35.100 --> 01:01:39.100
I mean, imagine, why would you think that Donald Trump...

01:01:39.400 --> 01:01:44.700
on, you know, another wife, was not faithful to his first wife,

01:01:44.700 --> 01:01:46.700
why would he then be faithful to you?

01:01:46.700 --> 01:01:48.200
Right, right, right.

01:01:48.200 --> 01:01:52.700
Like, are you gonna tell me that you would be more faithful to someone that's not your wife?

01:01:53.300 --> 01:01:56.400
Just a bunch of constituents? Just a bunch of people?

01:01:56.400 --> 01:01:58.200
Oh, I made all these campaign promises.

01:01:58.200 --> 01:02:00.200
He didn't keep his marriage vow!

01:02:00.200 --> 01:02:02.400
Why would he then keep a vow to you?

01:02:02.400 --> 01:02:03.900
A vow to...

01:02:04.300 --> 01:02:10.920
You know make your promises. It's silly. It's nonsense. We should never have a president that's been divorced

01:02:11.620 --> 01:02:14.560
Like if you just think about it logically for one second

01:02:14.560 --> 01:02:21.300
It makes no sense why you would ever have have a president that's been divorced because if he can't be faithful to his wife

01:02:21.700 --> 01:02:27.380
Why would he be faithful to the country? Why would he be faithful to the nation? Why would he be faithful to the Constitution?

01:02:27.380 --> 01:02:30.660
Why would he be faithful to God? Why would he be faithful to anything?

01:02:31.200 --> 01:02:34.200
He's already proven he won't be faithful to his wife.

01:02:34.200 --> 01:02:35.560
And the same with a pastor.

01:02:35.560 --> 01:02:38.800
If a pastor is divorced, he should never be your pastor.

01:02:38.800 --> 01:02:40.400
If he can't be faithful to his wife,

01:02:40.400 --> 01:02:43.200
why would he be faithful to the congregation of the church?

01:02:43.200 --> 01:02:45.080
The Bible is saying, hey, he should first show himself

01:02:45.080 --> 01:02:47.320
faithful to his wife and to his family

01:02:47.320 --> 01:02:49.600
as a model and an example of he's being faithful

01:02:49.600 --> 01:02:51.400
in that which is least, so he can be faithful

01:02:51.400 --> 01:02:53.520
in that which is much, with the church

01:02:53.520 --> 01:02:55.700
and with the things of God and with the Bible.

01:02:56.100 --> 01:02:57.840
You know, these just make common sense.

01:02:57.840 --> 01:02:59.540
Sorry to make too much sense this morning.

01:02:59.540 --> 01:03:02.840
Oh, I love Trump.

01:03:02.840 --> 01:03:05.700
Okay, well, you can like him, but let's just be honest.

01:03:05.700 --> 01:03:07.200
He's not someone to put trust in.

01:03:10.200 --> 01:03:11.800
Oh, how dare you say that?

01:03:11.800 --> 01:03:13.300
Well, that's what the Bible teaches.

01:03:13.300 --> 01:03:16.500
The Bible teaches that since he's not faithful in that which is least,

01:03:16.500 --> 01:03:18.200
he's not going to be faithful in that which is much.

01:03:18.200 --> 01:03:20.200
Ruth is faithful in that which is least.

01:03:20.200 --> 01:03:23.200
So she's going to be blessed with that which is much.

01:03:23.200 --> 01:03:25.400
And she shows this by what?

01:03:25.400 --> 01:03:26.800
Giving a portion to Naomi.

01:03:26.800 --> 01:03:28.000
Couldn't she come home and just said,

01:03:28.000 --> 01:03:31.700
hey Naomi, why don't you go work for your own?

01:03:31.700 --> 01:03:34.200
I mean, is there really any carnal obligation here?

01:03:34.500 --> 01:03:37.000
She doesn't have to. Legally, she doesn't have to.

01:03:37.000 --> 01:03:38.500
She's not gonna get sued.

01:03:38.500 --> 01:03:39.500
She could just say like,

01:03:39.500 --> 01:03:41.700
Hey, I got a lot of money today.

01:03:41.700 --> 01:03:44.500
I'm gonna go sell it and I'm gonna get me a new dress.

01:03:47.600 --> 01:03:50.160
I mean, she could just, she's a nuts to Naomi.

01:03:50.160 --> 01:03:53.400
She could just say, hey, I'm not gonna bless you anymore.

01:03:53.400 --> 01:03:56.160
I need to take care of myself.

01:03:56.160 --> 01:03:58.160
I need to get my nails done, you know.

01:03:59.200 --> 01:04:01.440
No, no, she gives a portion to Naomi.

01:04:01.440 --> 01:04:02.640
She's steadfast.

01:04:02.640 --> 01:04:03.760
She keeps her word.

01:04:03.760 --> 01:04:05.320
She's seeking God.

01:04:05.320 --> 01:04:07.360
She doesn't, even when she gets blessed a little bit,

01:04:07.360 --> 01:04:08.680
even when she gets a little bit of money,

01:04:08.680 --> 01:04:10.480
because you know, some people, they seem good

01:04:10.480 --> 01:04:13.200
and then they get a little bit of money.

01:04:13.200 --> 01:04:15.300
You know, you know that person in your life?

01:04:15.400 --> 01:04:18.320
It's like once they just get a little bit of money, they change.

01:04:18.320 --> 01:04:19.520
Their character change.

01:04:19.520 --> 01:04:21.720
Once they get a little bit of popularity, they change.

01:04:21.720 --> 01:04:23.440
Once they get a little bit of success,

01:04:23.440 --> 01:04:25.840
now all of a sudden they're too big for the britches.

01:04:25.840 --> 01:04:29.080
Now all of a sudden they're just a little bit too cool for you.

01:04:29.080 --> 01:04:31.240
Now they don't need you anymore.

01:04:31.240 --> 01:04:33.360
And once they don't need you anymore,

01:04:33.360 --> 01:04:35.360
they just drop you like a bad habit.

01:04:36.000 --> 01:04:39.600
But not Ruth. Ruth is a virtuous woman. She's going to give a portion.

01:04:39.600 --> 01:04:42.200
She actually cares about people that can't take care of themselves.

01:04:42.200 --> 01:04:46.600
She's going to take care of this widow. She's going to take care of her mother-in-law.

01:04:46.600 --> 01:04:50.400
And again, think about this relationship. Of all the carnal relationships you could have,

01:04:50.400 --> 01:04:54.400
a mother-in-law is probably the easiest one to want to ditch. Okay?

01:04:54.400 --> 01:04:58.900
Let's just be honest. I mean, it's not a very natural relationship.

01:05:00.800 --> 01:05:04.800
The reason why you all laughed is because it's hard to keep that relationship together, okay?

01:05:04.800 --> 01:05:06.500
Let alone in these circumstances.

01:05:06.500 --> 01:05:09.000
Let alone when money's an issue.

01:05:09.000 --> 01:05:10.700
Let alone when she's bitter.

01:05:10.700 --> 01:05:13.300
Let alone when she's had problems.

01:05:13.300 --> 01:05:15.300
Let alone when you're in a foreign country.

01:05:15.300 --> 01:05:17.300
You know, this is going to be difficult.

01:05:17.300 --> 01:05:18.000
But you know what?

01:05:18.000 --> 01:05:19.200
Roots of Virtuous Woman.

01:05:19.400 --> 01:05:22.300
Look at verse number 11 of chapter 3, says,

01:05:22.300 --> 01:05:24.920
And now my daughter, fear not, I will do to thee all that thou

01:05:24.920 --> 01:05:28.280
requires, for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

01:05:28.280 --> 01:05:34.720
Now here's Boaz, and he makes a proclamation where we've gone full circle.

01:05:34.720 --> 01:05:36.160
Why is he saying this though?

01:05:36.160 --> 01:05:39.280
Well, and again, I'm not going to preach the whole book.

01:05:39.280 --> 01:05:41.840
It's a great book, but she's asking him to marry her.

01:05:42.300 --> 01:05:46.140
Okay? And she's asking this because of a couple reasons.

01:05:46.140 --> 01:05:49.740
Number one, Naomi is telling her to.

01:05:49.740 --> 01:05:53.480
Naomi's saying, hey, you need to marry this man, Boaz,

01:05:53.480 --> 01:05:56.480
and she gives her explicit instructions on how to ask him.

01:05:56.700 --> 01:06:04.400
And these instructions are an interesting story in the Old Testament law of just like what someone would do in these circumstances

01:06:04.400 --> 01:06:07.700
that, again, if someone died, you would seek the brother.

01:06:07.700 --> 01:06:13.200
The problem is, is that Naomi doesn't have another son, so then it would just go to the next of Ken.

01:06:13.200 --> 01:06:18.900
So I don't know exactly who this would be or what person in the family it goes to exactly.

01:06:18.900 --> 01:06:24.700
Just whoever's closest of Ken, whether that be a cousin, uncle or something, I don't know exactly, but it just somehow...

01:06:24.700 --> 01:06:26.840
and the family she would seek this.

01:06:26.840 --> 01:06:31.840
Well, Naomi knows that Olimolec is very close of Ken.

01:06:31.960 --> 01:06:35.800
She knows that Boaz is really close too,

01:06:35.800 --> 01:06:37.480
so he could potentially be the person

01:06:37.480 --> 01:06:40.180
that's supposed to marry her by the law,

01:06:40.180 --> 01:06:42.040
from the law's perspective.

01:06:42.040 --> 01:06:44.240
But as we read in the story, we'll find out

01:06:44.240 --> 01:06:47.000
there was technically someone that was even closer of Ken

01:06:47.000 --> 01:06:48.100
that would have been the person

01:06:48.100 --> 01:06:49.760
that was supposed to marry her,

01:06:49.760 --> 01:06:51.600
and Boaz is like second in line.

01:06:51.700 --> 01:06:54.700
Boaz would not be the person to redeem.

01:06:54.700 --> 01:06:57.700
Technically, it would be someone else.

01:06:57.700 --> 01:07:01.700
But she asked him in verse number 9, she said,

01:07:01.700 --> 01:07:06.700
Spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid, for thou art a near kinsman.

01:07:06.700 --> 01:07:09.700
So she knows, hey, you're supposed to marry me according to your law,

01:07:09.700 --> 01:07:12.700
according to the word of God, you're supposed to marry me.

01:07:12.700 --> 01:07:14.700
And spread thy skirt.

01:07:14.700 --> 01:07:16.700
Well, the Bible calls a skirt a wife.

01:07:17.300 --> 01:07:23.540
In Deuteronomy chapter 22, yes, you don't like it in verse 5, it says women should not wear that which pertains to a man.

01:07:23.540 --> 01:07:29.140
And then in the latter part of that, it says that you're not supposed to lie with your father's wife,

01:07:29.140 --> 01:07:33.860
and it's calling her a skirt. It literally says that you're not supposed to uncover his skirt.

01:07:33.860 --> 01:07:39.860
So again, men don't wear skirts. And if they do, they're a faggot, all right?

01:07:39.860 --> 01:07:43.060
Or trying to be one, and I don't know why you would try to be one when you're not.

01:07:43.300 --> 01:07:49.300
Okay, you should definitely never be one, but if you weren't one you certainly shouldn't act like one or dress like one

01:07:49.540 --> 01:07:57.260
It's weird. Okay, so and obviously that's why you know which bathroom to use is because there's a stick figure with a skirt on

01:07:58.620 --> 01:08:02.820
It wasn't like the stick figure didn't have bigger muscles or something. It didn't have a mustache

01:08:03.900 --> 01:08:05.220
It just has a skirt.

01:08:05.220 --> 01:08:08.540
And you know, what I just said pisses almost everybody off

01:08:08.540 --> 01:08:11.020
and it just makes every Baptist, like Southern Baptist

01:08:11.020 --> 01:08:13.900
and whatever lose their mind that I just said this.

01:08:13.900 --> 01:08:16.620
Because all the boomers, they've cut off all their hair

01:08:16.620 --> 01:08:19.020
and they're wearing jeans to church this morning.

01:08:19.020 --> 01:08:22.260
And so they don't want to, and isn't it funny?

01:08:22.260 --> 01:08:25.300
They're wearing jeans, which is like what you'd wear to work

01:08:25.300 --> 01:08:26.380
and then these women don't work.

01:08:26.380 --> 01:08:27.220
It's just funny.

01:08:27.220 --> 01:08:28.380
It's so funny to me.

01:08:28.380 --> 01:08:31.100
But you know, they want to have their cake and eat it too.

01:08:31.700 --> 01:08:35.140
But at the end of the day, spread thy skirt upon the handmaid.

01:08:35.140 --> 01:08:37.540
He's saying he doesn't have a physical skirt.

01:08:37.540 --> 01:08:39.860
He's not wearing a skirt and she's asking for it.

01:08:39.860 --> 01:08:42.580
It's a euphemism for saying, will you marry me?

01:08:42.580 --> 01:08:45.980
Okay, euphemism is a metaphor, a picture of what it would be

01:08:45.980 --> 01:08:49.460
as a picture that he would be marrying this woman.

01:08:49.460 --> 01:08:51.660
And so that's what she's asking for here.

01:08:51.660 --> 01:08:53.460
She's not asking for a physical garment.

01:08:53.460 --> 01:08:54.940
She's saying, will you marry me?

01:08:54.940 --> 01:08:57.060
Because you're a near kinsman, okay?

01:08:57.060 --> 01:08:57.800
And...

01:08:58.500 --> 01:09:02.000
The problem is, is there's technically someone closer.

01:09:02.000 --> 01:09:02.900
Look at verse 12.

01:09:02.900 --> 01:09:05.900
And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman,

01:09:05.900 --> 01:09:08.400
how be it there is a kinsman nearer than I.

01:09:08.400 --> 01:09:09.100
And you know what's so funny?

01:09:09.100 --> 01:09:11.700
People that are not saved screw this entire story up

01:09:11.700 --> 01:09:14.400
because they'll be like, oh, well, in the story,

01:09:14.400 --> 01:09:17.000
Ruth was asking for a blanket because she's cold at night

01:09:17.000 --> 01:09:18.600
or something.

01:09:18.600 --> 01:09:21.200
And you know what's funny is if you read the story,

01:09:21.200 --> 01:09:23.000
he doesn't give her anything.

01:09:23.700 --> 01:09:25.060
And they're like, oh, there's a near kids.

01:09:25.060 --> 01:09:26.620
How does this even make sense?

01:09:26.620 --> 01:09:28.900
What if a lady was like, hey, it's cold tonight.

01:09:28.900 --> 01:09:30.380
Can you give me a blanket?

01:09:30.380 --> 01:09:33.420
Well, I'm technically not the closest of kin.

01:09:33.420 --> 01:09:35.300
We need to get someone else later.

01:09:35.600 --> 01:09:37.400
It's like that would be a weird thing to do.

01:09:37.400 --> 01:09:41.200
Okay, it's obviously we're talking about the euphemism here of the fact that hey,

01:09:41.200 --> 01:09:42.500
he's saying, will you marry me?

01:09:42.500 --> 01:09:46.300
And he's saying, well, I am someone that would potentially marry you because I am close with him,

01:09:46.300 --> 01:09:48.700
but I'm not technically the closest.

01:09:48.700 --> 01:09:50.800
There's someone that's even closer.

01:09:50.800 --> 01:09:54.800
And so he says in verse number 13, though, Terry this night.

01:09:54.800 --> 01:09:55.700
So it's like, wait.

01:09:56.100 --> 01:10:01.220
And it shall be in the morning that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well,

01:10:01.220 --> 01:10:05.620
let him do the kinsman's part. But if he will not do the part of the kinsman to thee,

01:10:05.620 --> 01:10:09.380
then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee as the Lord liveth lie down in the morning."

01:10:09.380 --> 01:10:13.620
So he says, hey, technically I'm not first in line. There's someone else.

01:10:14.420 --> 01:10:17.700
And if he's going to marry you, then he's going to marry you. And that's, that's good.

01:10:17.700 --> 01:10:22.580
Let him marry you. But if he won't marry you, I promise I will marry you.

01:10:23.000 --> 01:10:26.440
I will be the one to redeem you in this particular search.

01:10:26.440 --> 01:10:28.540
And it's about the laws of redeeming,

01:10:28.540 --> 01:10:31.880
being redeemed by, you know, this kinsman.

01:10:31.880 --> 01:10:37.120
And so we have her being described as a virtuous woman.

01:10:37.120 --> 01:10:38.180
Why?

01:10:38.180 --> 01:10:41.760
Because she's seeking this marriage.

01:10:41.760 --> 01:10:44.460
Now, this might seem strange to you,

01:10:44.460 --> 01:10:46.220
but again, biblically speaking,

01:10:46.220 --> 01:10:49.060
a widow is supposed to seek remarriage.

01:10:49.900 --> 01:10:52.100
And so that's a picture of being virtuous.

01:10:52.100 --> 01:10:56.500
The opposite would be someone not seeking marriage as a widow.

01:10:56.500 --> 01:10:59.600
And the Bible says in 1 Timothy chapter 5

01:10:59.600 --> 01:11:01.800
that she's going after Satan

01:11:01.800 --> 01:11:04.700
because she will wax wanton against Christ

01:11:04.700 --> 01:11:06.700
and they're going to end up marrying anyways.

01:11:07.000 --> 01:11:10.240
And so they might as well get married to a righteous person

01:11:10.240 --> 01:11:12.840
rather than just allowing themselves to wax wanton

01:11:12.840 --> 01:11:14.760
and getting all kinds of trouble

01:11:14.760 --> 01:11:17.460
and realizing they're gonna have a relationship anyways.

01:11:17.460 --> 01:11:19.380
So they might as well just get married right away.

01:11:19.380 --> 01:11:21.340
So what pictures her as a virtuous woman

01:11:21.340 --> 01:11:22.980
is that she seeks remarriage.

01:11:22.980 --> 01:11:25.680
Cause she didn't have to, she could have decided no.

01:11:25.680 --> 01:11:28.860
She could have said, hey, I'm women going my own way.

01:11:28.860 --> 01:11:30.980
But she decided, you know what, I do need a man.

01:11:30.980 --> 01:11:32.260
You know how many women today are saying,

01:11:32.260 --> 01:11:33.260
I don't need a man.

01:11:34.600 --> 01:11:38.200
or I don't want a man, or you know, I'm just gonna have my cats.

01:11:38.200 --> 01:11:41.400
Me and my cats will just live the rest of our life.

01:11:41.400 --> 01:11:44.440
But you know what? This woman is a virtuous woman.

01:11:44.440 --> 01:11:46.520
Why? Because she's seeking remarriage.

01:11:46.520 --> 01:11:50.280
And why remarriage? Because that's a picture of someone going to continue to serve God.

01:11:50.920 --> 01:11:53.080
If she didn't actually get remarried,

01:11:53.640 --> 01:11:56.280
and I'm going to go to this later in the sermon, so just buckle up,

01:11:56.280 --> 01:11:59.160
but I just want to make the point so we can move on.

01:12:00.800 --> 01:12:03.800
A widow not seeking remarriage is going to go after Satan.

01:12:03.800 --> 01:12:05.800
That's what the Bible teaches.

01:12:05.800 --> 01:12:07.800
So why is it pictured of a virgin virtuous?

01:12:07.800 --> 01:12:09.800
That she gets remarried.

01:12:09.800 --> 01:12:13.800
Now, I want to go back through our story.

01:12:13.800 --> 01:12:16.800
I've already preached everything, but don't think it's over.

01:12:16.800 --> 01:12:18.800
It's not even close, alright?

01:12:18.800 --> 01:12:20.600
I don't want you to get nervous or anything, alright?

01:12:21.600 --> 01:12:25.300
But I want us to keep this in mind and go to Proverbs 31 now.

01:12:25.300 --> 01:12:29.900
Let's kind of revisit our points and then see what the Bible says in Proverbs 31.

01:12:29.900 --> 01:12:30.900
So what is a virtuous woman?

01:12:30.900 --> 01:12:32.500
It's one that keeps her promise.

01:12:32.500 --> 01:12:33.800
It's one that seeks God.

01:12:33.800 --> 01:12:35.200
It's one that's steadfast.

01:12:35.200 --> 01:12:37.000
It's one that willingly works with her hands.

01:12:37.000 --> 01:12:38.500
It's one that gives a portion.

01:12:38.500 --> 01:12:41.900
And she's a scribe as a virtuous woman because she seeks remarriage.

01:12:42.500 --> 01:12:43.780
but she's a virtuous woman.

01:12:43.780 --> 01:12:46.820
Now in Proverbs 31, the Bible says in verse 10,

01:12:46.820 --> 01:12:50.580
who can find a virtuous woman for her price is far above rubies?

01:12:50.580 --> 01:12:53.780
Notice that the Bible puts a premium on this type of woman

01:12:53.780 --> 01:12:55.940
and says that she's extremely rare.

01:12:55.940 --> 01:12:56.900
And that's true.

01:12:56.900 --> 01:13:01.220
It's extremely rare to find a virtuous woman.

01:13:01.700 --> 01:13:07.620
a woman that'll keep her promises, that seeks God, that is steadfast, that is willing to work with

01:13:07.620 --> 01:13:10.820
her hands, that's going to give a portion to another, meaning she's generous, and that she

01:13:10.820 --> 01:13:15.460
would seek remarriage and an attempt to serve God, and she's going to keep her virtues. Okay?

01:13:15.460 --> 01:13:18.660
The Bible is saying that this type of a woman is very difficult to find.

01:13:19.300 --> 01:13:22.980
Now, what it does not say is it doesn't exist. It does exist.

01:13:23.700 --> 01:13:26.020
And notice that Ruth is the virtuous woman.

01:13:26.400 --> 01:13:30.240
Ruth is described as a virtuous woman by a virtuous guy,

01:13:30.240 --> 01:13:32.400
and we know what the virtuous woman is.

01:13:32.400 --> 01:13:36.720
And notice again, she's also not even from Israel,

01:13:36.720 --> 01:13:38.320
she's from the heathen.

01:13:38.320 --> 01:13:41.840
And there's this idea out there that all women are bad.

01:13:41.840 --> 01:13:44.160
It's just kind of like all cops are bad.

01:13:45.360 --> 01:13:47.240
It's all women are bad.

01:13:47.240 --> 01:13:48.480
False.

01:13:48.480 --> 01:13:50.360
No, no, no, there are good women out there.

01:13:50.360 --> 01:13:52.880
They're just hard to find, is what the Bible says.

01:13:53.200 --> 01:13:57.800
But again, he, you know, this woman is found of the heathen.

01:13:57.800 --> 01:14:00.400
Oh, well, you can't redeem any of these women in the world.

01:14:00.400 --> 01:14:01.300
False.

01:14:01.300 --> 01:14:02.200
Nope.

01:14:02.200 --> 01:14:06.300
Ruth is an example of a woman that was in the world as a spiritual picture

01:14:06.300 --> 01:14:09.700
and was redeemed and came in and became the virtuous woman.

01:14:09.700 --> 01:14:13.300
And I would even argue she becomes a virtuous woman in the sense that,

01:14:13.300 --> 01:14:17.700
you know, most people are not going to start out as the Proverbs 31 wife, folks.

01:14:18.600 --> 01:14:20.800
Number one, they don't start married.

01:14:20.800 --> 01:14:22.700
Did you ever realize that?

01:14:22.700 --> 01:14:25.900
You know, Proverbs 31 is like an ideal picture

01:14:25.900 --> 01:14:29.300
of what a woman becomes, not necessarily where she starts.

01:14:29.300 --> 01:14:32.300
She can start with virtue, but it continues to expand and to grow.

01:14:32.300 --> 01:14:35.000
And you know, this is an ideal picture.

01:14:35.000 --> 01:14:38.400
We should also not hold our wives to this standard

01:14:38.400 --> 01:14:41.800
if we don't want to be compared to Jesus Christ, okay?

01:14:42.100 --> 01:14:44.100
So, if you want to sit here and say like,

01:14:44.100 --> 01:14:45.700
why is my wife not like this?

01:14:45.700 --> 01:14:47.100
First ask yourself this question,

01:14:47.100 --> 01:14:49.700
why am I not like Jesus Christ?

01:14:49.700 --> 01:14:51.700
And actually just lower it a hair.

01:14:51.700 --> 01:14:54.200
Just, why am I not like David?

01:14:54.200 --> 01:14:55.500
Why am I not like Peter?

01:14:55.500 --> 01:14:56.700
Why am I not like Paul?

01:14:56.700 --> 01:14:59.100
Like, why am I not like anybody in the Bible?

01:14:59.100 --> 01:15:01.900
Like, how are you going to then hold your wife to a standard?

01:15:02.100 --> 01:15:06.700
that's an idealic standard, and you yourself are not holding yourself to even a very high standard.

01:15:06.700 --> 01:15:10.400
Okay, hold yourself to a higher standard and you're gonna hold others, number one.

01:15:10.400 --> 01:15:14.400
So if you want to measure your wife to this book, then you know what?

01:15:14.400 --> 01:15:16.800
You should measure yourself to Jesus Christ.

01:15:16.800 --> 01:15:23.000
Now, from the flip side, as a woman, you should measure yourself to the Proverbs 31 woman.

01:15:23.300 --> 01:15:25.300
We should always strive for perfection.

01:15:25.300 --> 01:15:26.700
We should always look to holiness.

01:15:26.700 --> 01:15:28.500
We should always look to do what's right

01:15:28.500 --> 01:15:31.500
and try to hold ourselves more accountable than we hold other people.

01:15:31.500 --> 01:15:33.100
And this is what often happens in a sermon,

01:15:33.100 --> 01:15:36.500
is the good people do this and the bad people continue to do the opposite.

01:15:36.500 --> 01:15:38.100
What does a bad person do in this sermon?

01:15:38.100 --> 01:15:41.900
They're constantly thinking about how other people are not doing what I'm saying this morning.

01:15:41.900 --> 01:15:43.300
Okay?

01:15:43.300 --> 01:15:46.300
And I want to make it clear that I want you to do re-

01:15:46.300 --> 01:15:48.600
think really hard this morning about yourself.

01:15:49.100 --> 01:15:52.540
And I want you to think really hard about what you can change about yourself,

01:15:52.540 --> 01:15:54.940
not how everybody else is screwing up.

01:15:54.940 --> 01:15:59.580
Not how you can think about other people in the room being more guilty of something than you.

01:15:59.580 --> 01:16:00.140
Okay?

01:16:00.140 --> 01:16:03.100
Think about yourself and think about how we can seek to improve.

01:16:03.100 --> 01:16:05.420
Because you can't improve that other person anyways.

01:16:05.420 --> 01:16:07.020
Just improve yourself, okay?

01:16:08.100 --> 01:16:13.940
Now in Proverbs 31, we have this idea of this woman, she's super hard to find.

01:16:13.940 --> 01:16:17.820
Verse 11, the heart of her husband has safely trusted her so that she'll have no need of

01:16:17.820 --> 01:16:18.820
spoil.

01:16:18.820 --> 01:16:23.860
Now this is interesting because when Ruth is being described as a virtuous woman, Boaz,

01:16:23.860 --> 01:16:29.740
I didn't read the verse, but Boaz says that she's not seeking men that are younger for

01:16:29.740 --> 01:16:30.740
money.

01:16:30.740 --> 01:16:32.780
She's not seeking like young men, she's not seeking money.

01:16:33.600 --> 01:16:35.680
And so that's a picture of what?

01:16:35.680 --> 01:16:38.520
A virtuous woman is not in it for money.

01:16:38.520 --> 01:16:43.240
Also this woman, her husband is not worried about her

01:16:43.240 --> 01:16:44.600
that she's seeking money.

01:16:44.600 --> 01:16:46.040
He has no need of spoiling money.

01:16:46.040 --> 01:16:50.760
He doesn't have to become rich to keep his wife's heart.

01:16:50.760 --> 01:16:53.240
There are some women in this world

01:16:53.240 --> 01:16:55.000
that will leave their husband

01:16:55.000 --> 01:16:57.120
as soon as they're no longer rich.

01:16:58.760 --> 01:16:59.600
Or...

01:16:59.800 --> 01:17:03.200
They'll just, as soon as they get married and they have access to the funds,

01:17:03.200 --> 01:17:05.700
they'll just divorce them to take the money

01:17:05.700 --> 01:17:09.300
because they weren't really in it for the marriage, they weren't really in it for the man,

01:17:09.300 --> 01:17:11.300
they were in it for the spoil.

01:17:11.300 --> 01:17:14.700
But notice the heart of the husband of the virtuous woman,

01:17:14.700 --> 01:17:20.100
he is not afraid of his wife leaving him for money.

01:17:20.100 --> 01:17:23.300
If a rich guy came along and said,

01:17:23.300 --> 01:17:25.400
Hey, I want you.

01:17:25.400 --> 01:17:26.800
She's not interested.

01:17:27.300 --> 01:17:30.900
The indecent proposal will not work on this woman.

01:17:30.900 --> 01:17:32.380
She's not interested in money.

01:17:32.380 --> 01:17:33.940
She's not interested in a rich guy.

01:17:33.940 --> 01:17:36.300
No one could come along and entice her

01:17:36.300 --> 01:17:37.940
and take her away from her husband.

01:17:37.940 --> 01:17:40.940
Her husband's heart is safely entrusted with this woman

01:17:40.940 --> 01:17:42.460
that she would never do this to him.

01:17:42.460 --> 01:17:44.020
She's not interested in money.

01:17:44.020 --> 01:17:45.620
She's not interested in a young man.

01:17:45.620 --> 01:17:47.020
She's not interested in lust.

01:17:47.020 --> 01:17:49.100
No, the heart of this husband knows,

01:17:49.100 --> 01:17:50.820
hey, my wife loves me.

01:17:51.200 --> 01:17:54.320
And you know, that's got to be one of the most important attributes you can find in

01:17:54.320 --> 01:17:59.320
a pre-wife, is a woman that just likes you, that loves you.

01:17:59.320 --> 01:18:03.200
And that's something I can say about my wife, is my wife, I don't know why, but she likes

01:18:03.200 --> 01:18:04.200
me.

01:18:04.200 --> 01:18:05.200
Okay?

01:18:05.200 --> 01:18:06.960
Now she loves me even more than she likes me.

01:18:06.960 --> 01:18:12.120
But hey, that was an important characteristic, is a woman that loves me, and not, and I wasn't

01:18:12.120 --> 01:18:15.120
rich, let's just be honest, so I was working with nothing, all right?

01:18:15.120 --> 01:18:16.000
It was great.

01:18:16.300 --> 01:18:18.060
It's great to meet your wife when you're poor,

01:18:18.060 --> 01:18:19.220
because you know, you're just like,

01:18:19.220 --> 01:18:21.300
she has to like you at that point.

01:18:21.300 --> 01:18:25.460
I feel bad for guys that are rich, you know,

01:18:25.460 --> 01:18:27.860
in a sense like, I don't know how you could know for sure

01:18:27.860 --> 01:18:29.780
that this woman actually cares about you.

01:18:29.780 --> 01:18:31.940
That's why there's so many movies and so many shows

01:18:31.940 --> 01:18:34.780
where guys pretend to not be rich to try to find a wife,

01:18:34.780 --> 01:18:38.500
because they're afraid of it being from an insincere motive.

01:18:39.000 --> 01:18:41.120
Why? Because of this virtuous woman.

01:18:41.120 --> 01:18:43.200
Because of this ideal that they want a woman

01:18:43.200 --> 01:18:45.460
that wants them, not money.

01:18:46.400 --> 01:18:49.360
And sorry, honey, our life isn't one of those movies

01:18:49.360 --> 01:18:51.920
where I'm secretly rich and I didn't tell you, okay?

01:18:51.920 --> 01:18:52.760
You know?

01:18:52.760 --> 01:18:55.880
She's like hoping at some point a reveal, like,

01:18:55.880 --> 01:18:57.760
oh man, I was just testing you.

01:18:57.760 --> 01:19:00.320
This is like 17 years or whatever.

01:19:00.320 --> 01:19:02.600
It's like, no, I wasn't testing you.

01:19:02.600 --> 01:19:04.160
Okay, sorry.

01:19:05.000 --> 01:19:08.840
But hey, there could even be a woman that maybe she didn't realize it,

01:19:08.840 --> 01:19:12.120
but once money comes into the equation, her heart changes too.

01:19:12.120 --> 01:19:13.080
You don't want that kind of woman.

01:19:13.080 --> 01:19:15.640
You want a woman that, hey, she wasn't in it for the money.

01:19:16.100 --> 01:19:21.100
She was just there because she loves you and she's interested in the righteous things.

01:19:21.100 --> 01:19:24.100
Verse 12, she will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

01:19:24.100 --> 01:19:30.100
Notice that she's not sitting here thinking like, how can I criticize him and attack him and nag him to death?

01:19:30.100 --> 01:19:35.100
She wants to only do good to him. She's never going to harm him in any way.

01:19:35.100 --> 01:19:40.100
She only does good unto him. She seeketh wool and flax and worketh willingly with her hands.

01:19:40.100 --> 01:19:41.100
Doesn't that sound like Ruth?

01:19:41.600 --> 01:19:43.500
She willingly goes to the field.

01:19:43.500 --> 01:19:45.600
She's willing to work with her hands.

01:19:45.600 --> 01:19:48.140
And we even see a couple other verses say the same thing.

01:19:48.140 --> 01:19:49.040
Look at verse 27.

01:19:49.040 --> 01:19:50.640
She looked at the wells of the ways of her household

01:19:50.640 --> 01:19:52.180
and he does not the bread of idleness.

01:19:52.180 --> 01:19:53.780
She didn't eat the government bread.

01:19:53.780 --> 01:19:57.480
She went into the field and got her own barley

01:19:57.480 --> 01:19:59.120
and then made her own bread,

01:19:59.120 --> 01:20:02.920
some organic homemade sourdough or whatever,

01:20:02.920 --> 01:20:04.860
you know, just she got that bread

01:20:04.860 --> 01:20:06.300
and she got the good bread.

01:20:06.300 --> 01:20:08.100
She's not eating the wonder bread.

01:20:08.500 --> 01:20:12.500
And you just like wonder how is this even bread when you look at the ingredients, okay?

01:20:12.500 --> 01:20:19.700
No, she's eating good bread, she's working hard, her family, even though they're poor, they're eating well.

01:20:19.700 --> 01:20:23.000
You know, you don't have to be rich to eat good food.

01:20:23.000 --> 01:20:26.300
In fact, a lot of times the rich food is gross, it's weird.

01:20:26.300 --> 01:20:31.600
They like do weird stuff to it because it's like, you know, it was not expensive enough.

01:20:31.600 --> 01:20:35.400
It's like, hey, we have this burger, we're gonna literally wrap it in gold.

01:20:36.100 --> 01:20:40.820
I've seen this. I've seen where they like had a bun and they were wrapping it in this thin layer of gold

01:20:40.820 --> 01:20:45.260
And I'm just I'm just thinking like why did you run such a perfectly good burger?

01:20:45.600 --> 01:20:50.360
You know like there was no reason to do such a thing and look honestly a lot of times

01:20:50.560 --> 01:20:54.620
It's not so much the ingredients as it is that the prep that it goes into the meal

01:20:55.300 --> 01:20:57.400
Because we all kind of have the same ingredients.

01:20:57.400 --> 01:21:00.400
And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if it's chicken

01:21:00.400 --> 01:21:03.080
or whatever, it's like a well-cooked chicken is better

01:21:03.080 --> 01:21:05.500
than a sloppily made beef.

01:21:05.500 --> 01:21:06.840
And it's hard to say for me, okay?

01:21:06.840 --> 01:21:08.080
I'm just being honest.

01:21:08.200 --> 01:21:12.920
But I'm just saying, like, a lot of times it's just the skill and the prep that goes into it

01:21:12.920 --> 01:21:17.560
than it is necessarily just the ingredients. And often it's the same ingredients anyways.

01:21:17.560 --> 01:21:20.520
I mean, when it's bread, it's all the same ingredients for the most part.

01:21:20.520 --> 01:21:25.000
But you know what makes good bread? The effort and the energy and the output.

01:21:25.000 --> 01:21:29.080
I mean, to make a croissant takes so much time, effort, and energy.

01:21:29.080 --> 01:21:33.000
It's not like the ingredients of a croissant are rich or expensive.

01:21:33.000 --> 01:21:35.400
But you know what? Making something like that is insane.

01:21:35.900 --> 01:21:38.200
And you know, if you watch videos about these kinds of stuff,

01:21:38.200 --> 01:21:42.360
good breads, good food, takes a lot of effort, a lot of energy.

01:21:42.360 --> 01:21:45.160
And you know, some people would just consign themselves and say,

01:21:45.160 --> 01:21:47.400
well, I don't have time for that.

01:21:47.400 --> 01:21:49.160
I don't have time for my family.

01:21:49.160 --> 01:21:52.720
So I'm just going to get four cans from the store

01:21:52.720 --> 01:21:56.480
and pour it into a pot and microwave it.

01:21:56.480 --> 01:21:57.680
And that's what they get to eat.

01:21:58.500 --> 01:21:59.500
I don't want to cook.

01:21:59.500 --> 01:22:04.940
I'm just going to get cans of stuff, pour it into a little microwave safe dish, maybe,

01:22:04.940 --> 01:22:09.180
if you're lucky, and I'll nuke it for a little while, stir it together, and then I'll just

01:22:09.180 --> 01:22:11.180
hand it to you.

01:22:11.180 --> 01:22:13.860
I didn't have to work too hard for it.

01:22:13.860 --> 01:22:16.200
It's like, who wants to eat slop?

01:22:16.200 --> 01:22:22.100
Just eat slop and eat porridge and eat whatever because your wife just doesn't want to work.

01:22:22.100 --> 01:22:23.980
I want to marry a five-star chef here.

01:22:23.980 --> 01:22:24.700
You know what I mean?

01:22:25.000 --> 01:22:27.000
I want a woman that's willing to work with her hands.

01:22:27.000 --> 01:22:29.080
It's not I'm not going to eat the bread of idleness

01:22:29.080 --> 01:22:30.440
because she's just too lazy.

01:22:31.320 --> 01:22:34.360
And look, in times past, there could have been some meals

01:22:34.360 --> 01:22:35.960
that you had to eat out of necessity

01:22:35.960 --> 01:22:37.880
because there's just so much going on.

01:22:37.880 --> 01:22:39.480
And the literal pioneer.

01:22:40.760 --> 01:22:43.960
But in America, you could probably make a decent meal.

01:22:44.680 --> 01:22:47.480
You'd probably have enough time to, you know,

01:22:47.480 --> 01:22:49.960
maybe take a break from your social media shopping.

01:22:50.900 --> 01:22:52.900
to make a decent meal every once in a while.

01:22:52.900 --> 01:22:54.020
And you know what? That's the virtuous woman.

01:22:54.020 --> 01:22:54.980
The virtuous woman is saying,

01:22:54.980 --> 01:22:56.580
hey, we're not going to eat slop.

01:22:56.580 --> 01:22:58.740
We're not going to eat the bread of idleness.

01:22:58.740 --> 01:23:01.380
I'm going to put some effort and energy into cooking

01:23:01.380 --> 01:23:02.740
and I'm going to make some good meals.

01:23:04.340 --> 01:23:05.860
And I'll be honest, you know,

01:23:05.860 --> 01:23:07.220
I think that the women in this church

01:23:07.220 --> 01:23:08.820
are probably making way better meals

01:23:08.820 --> 01:23:10.020
than the women outside of here.

01:23:11.500 --> 01:23:15.180
And the women outside here, they're all working at like Subway and whatever, and they're just,

01:23:15.180 --> 01:23:18.620
you know, making some goyslop for you or whatever. It's just like, hey,

01:23:19.660 --> 01:23:22.220
get some of that good organic homemade cooking.

01:23:23.300 --> 01:23:24.580
It says in verse number 31,

01:23:24.580 --> 01:23:26.420
give her the fruit of her hands

01:23:26.420 --> 01:23:27.860
and let her own works praise on the gates.

01:23:27.860 --> 01:23:30.580
Look, I mean, the Bible cannot emphasize enough

01:23:30.580 --> 01:23:32.900
that the woman that's virtuous works.

01:23:32.900 --> 01:23:34.020
She works hard.

01:23:34.020 --> 01:23:35.140
She works with her hands.

01:23:35.140 --> 01:23:37.060
She's laying her hand to the spindle.

01:23:37.060 --> 01:23:39.700
She's willingly, she's willingly working with her hands.

01:23:39.700 --> 01:23:40.540
You know what?

01:23:40.540 --> 01:23:42.340
She's not doing what I'm saying out of obligation.

01:23:42.340 --> 01:23:43.780
She wants to.

01:23:44.100 --> 01:23:48.100
She wants to make a good meal because she just wants her husband to be happy.

01:23:48.100 --> 01:23:52.100
She wants to make good meals because she just wants her kids to be strong and nutritious and healthy.

01:23:52.100 --> 01:23:55.500
She just doesn't want them to eat slop. She doesn't want them to eat trash.

01:23:55.500 --> 01:23:57.100
She actually cares.

01:23:57.100 --> 01:23:58.900
That's what a virtuous woman is.

01:23:58.900 --> 01:24:00.800
Not just everything's an obligation.

01:24:00.800 --> 01:24:03.500
She gets the opportunity to do. She's happy to.

01:24:03.500 --> 01:24:05.700
She's going and she's seeking her food from afar.

01:24:05.700 --> 01:24:07.100
That's what the Bible is bringing up.

01:24:07.400 --> 01:24:09.400
She's giving a portion to her maidens.

01:24:09.400 --> 01:24:11.000
I'm not going to read this whole thing.

01:24:11.000 --> 01:24:12.200
You could read it later.

01:24:12.200 --> 01:24:16.400
Read it if you want some more help in this particular area.

01:24:16.400 --> 01:24:17.700
But it says in verse 20,

01:24:17.700 --> 01:24:20.200
she stretched out her hand to the poor.

01:24:20.200 --> 01:24:21.700
Yay.

01:24:21.700 --> 01:24:24.200
She reached forth her hands to the needy.

01:24:24.200 --> 01:24:26.300
Notice, hey, Naomi's poor.

01:24:26.300 --> 01:24:28.300
Naomi is needy.

01:24:28.300 --> 01:24:29.600
She's helping her.

01:24:29.600 --> 01:24:31.300
Verse 15, it says,

01:24:31.300 --> 01:24:33.800
she rises also as yet night and giveth meat to her household

01:24:33.800 --> 01:24:35.100
and a portion to her maidens.

01:24:36.000 --> 01:24:37.840
Well, when do this woman have time to sleep?

01:24:37.840 --> 01:24:41.840
I don't know, because the Bible just basically talks that she's just working all the time.

01:24:41.840 --> 01:24:42.840
She just works all the time.

01:24:42.840 --> 01:24:43.840
But you know what?

01:24:43.840 --> 01:24:44.840
She likes working.

01:24:44.840 --> 01:24:47.200
She's not one of these women that hates working.

01:24:47.200 --> 01:24:50.440
She loves working.

01:24:50.440 --> 01:24:56.880
She's glad that she has something to do, and she's going to work with her hands.

01:24:56.880 --> 01:25:00.040
There's a lot more that we could kind of go into, but I want to move on for the sake of

01:25:00.040 --> 01:25:01.040
time.

01:25:01.040 --> 01:25:02.640
So, point one.

01:25:02.900 --> 01:25:05.900
of the sermon was just to identify that Ruth was a virtuous woman.

01:25:05.900 --> 01:25:08.160
We talked about this. She keeps her promise, she seeks God,

01:25:08.160 --> 01:25:13.100
she's steadfast, she works willingly with her hand, she gives a portion to Naomi,

01:25:13.100 --> 01:25:14.240
and she's a virtuous woman.

01:25:14.240 --> 01:25:16.300
The second way we looked at this is through Proverbs 31,

01:25:16.300 --> 01:25:20.000
how it matches the description of a Proverbs 31 woman.

01:25:20.000 --> 01:25:22.040
Here's the third way I want to look at this,

01:25:22.040 --> 01:25:28.400
is that this story of Ruth pictures replacement theology.

01:25:28.400 --> 01:25:30.700
Now what's really interesting about the story is Naomi...

01:25:30.900 --> 01:25:32.400
pictures Israel.

01:25:32.400 --> 01:25:34.600
And now Israel leaves Israel

01:25:34.600 --> 01:25:36.700
in a time of famine,

01:25:36.700 --> 01:25:38.000
which is going to picture what

01:25:38.000 --> 01:25:39.400
the nation of Israel will do

01:25:39.400 --> 01:25:41.200
in the Babylonian captivity.

01:25:41.200 --> 01:25:42.700
How they're going to go out

01:25:42.700 --> 01:25:46.100
and then they're going to return to the land barren.

01:25:46.100 --> 01:25:48.300
But here's the thing that's interesting

01:25:48.300 --> 01:25:50.400
is that Naomi returns.

01:25:50.400 --> 01:25:52.300
She's a widow.

01:25:52.300 --> 01:25:54.300
Ruth returns as a widow.

01:25:54.300 --> 01:25:55.300
But you know what?

01:25:55.300 --> 01:25:57.100
Naomi doesn't get married.

01:25:57.700 --> 01:26:00.420
and Naomi doesn't have any more kids.

01:26:00.420 --> 01:26:02.180
She's completely barren.

01:26:02.180 --> 01:26:03.780
And then who does get married?

01:26:03.780 --> 01:26:04.620
Ruth.

01:26:04.620 --> 01:26:05.460
Why?

01:26:05.460 --> 01:26:07.440
Because this is a picture of how the Gentiles

01:26:07.440 --> 01:26:11.760
are going to end up replacing the physical nation of Israel

01:26:11.760 --> 01:26:13.900
and they're gonna become the church

01:26:13.900 --> 01:26:16.000
and they're gonna be the ones that produce the fruit.

01:26:16.000 --> 01:26:18.620
They're gonna be the ones that end up

01:26:18.620 --> 01:26:20.940
giving the new life and the new birth.

01:26:20.940 --> 01:26:23.540
And let me tell you something about the story.

01:26:23.540 --> 01:26:25.660
Naomi never gets married again.

01:26:26.000 --> 01:26:29.280
Naomi never has another child.

01:26:29.280 --> 01:26:30.280
Let me tell you something.

01:26:30.280 --> 01:26:33.040
The physical nation of Israel is done.

01:26:33.040 --> 01:26:36.920
There's not this secret wedding that happens at the end of the book.

01:26:36.920 --> 01:26:42.080
And the last minute when they see Boaz coming in the clouds or something.

01:26:42.080 --> 01:26:43.800
No, no, no. She's done.

01:26:43.800 --> 01:26:45.360
She's replaced.

01:26:45.360 --> 01:26:48.040
She's barren. She's not going to get married again.

01:26:48.040 --> 01:26:49.000
It's over.

01:26:50.500 --> 01:26:56.500
Now, here's the thing though, Ruth ends up adding to Naomi's lineage.

01:26:56.500 --> 01:27:04.820
Why? Because Ruth is grafted into that family, and now Ruth is going to add to the lineage of Naomi

01:27:04.820 --> 01:27:11.620
in the same way that we as Christians, Gentiles coming into the nation of Israel spiritually,

01:27:11.620 --> 01:27:17.300
we're the ones that give birth to the new Israelites and the new people that are being brought into the vine.

01:27:18.600 --> 01:27:22.900
Now in Ruth chapter 2, you go back to Ruth because we'll look at a few verses there, just a few.

01:27:22.900 --> 01:27:27.900
But here's the thing, how did Ruth end up getting added into this lineage?

01:27:27.900 --> 01:27:29.600
Well, the Bible tells us in verse 2,

01:27:29.600 --> 01:27:31.400
And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi,

01:27:31.400 --> 01:27:37.200
Let me go to the field and glean years of corn after him, in whose sight I shall find grace.

01:27:38.600 --> 01:27:41.400
Why was Ruth added in? Because of grace.

01:27:41.400 --> 01:27:45.240
Why are Gentiles added in? Because of grace.

01:27:45.240 --> 01:27:50.120
We found grace in the eyes of the Lord, and we're saved by grace, not by works.

01:27:50.120 --> 01:27:52.440
And of course, she's a hard worker.

01:27:52.600 --> 01:27:56.000
And she's seeking to work, but what was her justification?

01:27:56.000 --> 01:27:57.100
It was by grace.

01:27:57.100 --> 01:27:59.800
Why did she happen to be in the right field at the right time?

01:27:59.800 --> 01:28:00.900
Because of grace.

01:28:00.900 --> 01:28:02.300
Why did we get saved?

01:28:02.300 --> 01:28:04.700
We got saved because of grace.

01:28:04.700 --> 01:28:07.000
And then, of course, Ruth ends up marrying Boaz,

01:28:07.000 --> 01:28:09.700
which is a picture of how we become the bride of Christ.

01:28:10.600 --> 01:28:12.600
Not only this, in verse number 12,

01:28:12.600 --> 01:28:13.100
it says,

01:28:19.400 --> 01:28:25.080
to trust. We trusted in Christ. We got married in a spiritual sense. We became the bride of Christ

01:28:25.080 --> 01:28:30.120
in a sense. But not only that, because we've trusted in Christ and we work for him, we get

01:28:30.120 --> 01:28:35.880
rewarded for the works that we do. Just like Ruth gets rewarded, we get rewarded. Verse 16,

01:28:35.880 --> 01:28:41.320
and let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her and leave them that she may glean them

01:28:41.320 --> 01:28:45.320
and rebuke or not. Not only this, Boaz made it easy for Ruth.

01:28:45.800 --> 01:28:50.600
And Jesus Christ, the Bible says that His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

01:28:50.600 --> 01:28:54.440
Serving Jesus is easier than serving the world.

01:28:54.440 --> 01:28:58.680
If she had gone back to Moab, her life would have been hard and full of bondage.

01:28:58.680 --> 01:29:01.000
But you know what? When she serves Jesus, it's easy.

01:29:01.000 --> 01:29:03.320
Now there's the thing, she still worked.

01:29:03.320 --> 01:29:06.440
She still had to glean. She still had to do something.

01:29:06.440 --> 01:29:11.320
But you know what? Jesus made it easier on her than if she had done the work on her own.

01:29:11.600 --> 01:29:17.440
And let me tell you something, serving Jesus is easier than serving the flesh and serving the world.

01:29:17.440 --> 01:29:21.400
Oh, driving to church and reading my Bible and going soul hunting is hard.

01:29:21.400 --> 01:29:23.600
No, no, it's easy.

01:29:23.600 --> 01:29:25.040
You know what's not easy?

01:29:25.040 --> 01:29:27.360
Getting out of church.

01:29:27.360 --> 01:29:30.360
You don't understand how difficult your life will become,

01:29:30.360 --> 01:29:34.320
walking away from the things of God and serving your flesh and being selfish.

01:29:34.320 --> 01:29:36.840
Serving God is easy.

01:29:36.840 --> 01:29:38.000
Your burden is light.

01:29:38.000 --> 01:29:39.000
You just don't realize it.

01:29:40.100 --> 01:29:44.180
Don't ever forget that. Walk by faith, not by sight.

01:29:44.180 --> 01:29:47.380
Just believe and understand that your yoke is easy.

01:29:47.380 --> 01:29:51.140
Look at chapter 3 verse 15. Chapter 3 verse 15.

01:29:51.140 --> 01:29:55.700
When she asked to be married, Boaz doesn't want to

01:29:55.700 --> 01:29:57.700
let anybody know about this arrangement.

01:29:58.000 --> 01:30:00.700
And so he says something here in verse 15 says, and he said,

01:30:00.800 --> 01:30:04.000
bring the veil that thou hast upon thee and hold it.

01:30:04.100 --> 01:30:06.500
And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley

01:30:06.600 --> 01:30:09.000
and laid it on her, and she went into the city.

01:30:09.100 --> 01:30:11.200
So it's not revealed immediately.

01:30:11.300 --> 01:30:15.700
And this is again, the Gentiles replacing them is not revealed immediately.

01:30:15.700 --> 01:30:22.100
And there's a veil and that veil is hidden to the nation of Israel

01:30:22.100 --> 01:30:26.000
until it's revealed in the New Testament and revealed in Christ.

01:30:26.000 --> 01:30:29.900
So in the same way that she has this veil and it takes some time,

01:30:29.900 --> 01:30:33.300
it's the same way that it's going to take some time until this is revealed

01:30:33.300 --> 01:30:36.700
that the Gentiles are going to come in and the Gentiles are going to be redeemed.

01:30:36.700 --> 01:30:39.200
This is the mystery that the New Testament...

01:30:39.300 --> 01:30:42.700
refers to how there was a mystery of the Gentiles coming in.

01:30:42.700 --> 01:30:45.500
There was a mystery of the heathen being justified by faith.

01:30:45.500 --> 01:30:49.700
There was this mystery of the bride of Christ and that's what we are.

01:30:49.700 --> 01:30:54.000
But it is eventually revealed, but it was a period of time where it was veiled.

01:30:54.000 --> 01:30:55.600
There was a period of time where it was hidden.

01:30:55.600 --> 01:31:00.500
There was a period of time where it wasn't as known to the nation of Israel.

01:31:00.500 --> 01:31:03.500
Ruth 4 verse 6 also says...

01:31:04.000 --> 01:31:06.800
And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself,

01:31:06.800 --> 01:31:10.720
lest I mar my own inheritance, redeem thou my right to thyself,

01:31:10.720 --> 01:31:11.680
for I cannot redeem it.

01:31:11.680 --> 01:31:13.840
Now they're trying to follow the Old Testament law

01:31:13.840 --> 01:31:15.920
and order a redeemer, but they can't.

01:31:15.920 --> 01:31:17.120
And it's a picture of what?

01:31:17.120 --> 01:31:18.720
That you cannot be saved by the law.

01:31:19.280 --> 01:31:22.320
That the law can't redeem you, even though it's closer,

01:31:22.320 --> 01:31:25.760
even though it's the first, the first testament,

01:31:25.760 --> 01:31:28.160
the first covenant cannot redeem you.

01:31:28.800 --> 01:31:32.400
Only the second covenant, the New Testament, can redeem you.

01:31:32.400 --> 01:31:37.000
And that's what Boaz pictures, is how he's going to redeem Ruth

01:31:37.000 --> 01:31:39.100
because she can't be redeemed by the law.

01:31:39.100 --> 01:31:42.800
She has redeemed by grace, and that is through Boaz.

01:31:42.800 --> 01:31:44.400
Now here's the thing.

01:31:44.400 --> 01:31:48.900
According to the law, if the guy won't raise up seed under

01:31:48.900 --> 01:31:50.300
and he plucks off the shoe,

01:31:50.300 --> 01:31:53.900
it never mentions how the second guy is in trouble or it fall or has to.

01:31:54.100 --> 01:31:57.780
He just decides to do it anyways because it's a picture of grace.

01:31:57.780 --> 01:32:02.580
The second guy wasn't obligated. The second guy chose to in the same way that Jesus Christ

01:32:02.580 --> 01:32:07.620
willingly chose to die on the cross for all of our sins and to redeem us when he didn't have to.

01:32:07.620 --> 01:32:12.580
While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He did not have to redeem us but rather chose to

01:32:12.580 --> 01:32:18.500
redeem us and he was willing to die for us even though we are sinners and we don't deserve it.

01:32:18.500 --> 01:32:21.860
Number 10, verse 10, I'm sorry, not number 10 but verse 10.

01:32:22.100 --> 01:32:24.660
Moreover, Ruth the Moabite is the wife of Malon.

01:32:24.660 --> 01:32:26.980
Have I purchased to be my wife?

01:32:26.980 --> 01:32:31.140
We were purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ.

01:32:31.140 --> 01:32:34.260
And then lastly, Naomi gets to hold that baby

01:32:34.260 --> 01:32:36.740
and she gives nurse unto it, whatever that means, I don't know.

01:32:36.740 --> 01:32:41.620
And I don't know how that works, but don't try this at home.

01:32:41.620 --> 01:32:42.260
I don't know.

01:32:42.800 --> 01:32:46.300
But here's the thing, Naomi gets to have this child,

01:32:46.300 --> 01:32:48.680
and it continues her lineage in the same way that,

01:32:48.680 --> 01:32:51.840
hey, the lineage of Israel didn't stop.

01:32:51.840 --> 01:32:53.840
God didn't cast away his people.

01:32:55.000 --> 01:33:00.000
It's just what? That the Gentiles are the ones that are being grafted in and they're producing the new lineage

01:33:00.000 --> 01:33:04.000
and so there's no Jew or Gentile. Now we're all one in Christ Jesus

01:33:04.000 --> 01:33:10.000
and so he's made Ruth the same as Naomi. They're both in the same lineage and they're both Israel

01:33:10.000 --> 01:33:14.700
and the lineage is continued through Ruth, not through Naomi.

01:33:14.800 --> 01:33:16.560
and the children are continuing in this way.

01:33:16.560 --> 01:33:18.800
In the same way that Israel has continued,

01:33:18.800 --> 01:33:19.920
Israel didn't stop.

01:33:19.920 --> 01:33:23.120
Israel just continued through the spiritual picture of the church,

01:33:23.120 --> 01:33:25.200
and the church is carrying up that lineage,

01:33:25.200 --> 01:33:27.200
and the church is the one bringing in the fruit.

01:33:27.200 --> 01:33:30.560
And of course, the nation was taken away from them

01:33:30.560 --> 01:33:32.560
because they weren't bringing forth the fruit.

01:33:32.700 --> 01:33:36.500
He said, Hey, the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given unto a nation bringing

01:33:36.500 --> 01:33:37.940
forth the fruits thereof.

01:33:37.940 --> 01:33:41.180
The kingdom of God, meaning the gospel, getting people saved was taken from the physical nation

01:33:41.180 --> 01:33:43.520
of Israel and was given to the church.

01:33:43.520 --> 01:33:47.520
And we are the ones that preach the gospel and preach the kingdom of God.

01:33:47.520 --> 01:33:49.600
And we're the ones bringing forth the fruit.

01:33:49.600 --> 01:33:51.820
The physical nation of Israel brings forth no fruit.

01:33:51.820 --> 01:33:53.020
It's barren.

01:33:53.020 --> 01:33:57.120
It has nothing to do with God anymore whatsoever.

01:33:57.120 --> 01:33:58.860
What a great, what a great story in the Bible.

01:34:00.300 --> 01:34:06.900
Ruth is, and here's the thing, Ruth is virtuous because she was redeemed by Boaz and found grace.

01:34:06.900 --> 01:34:11.000
And why are we virtuous? Because we were redeemed by Jesus Christ.

01:34:11.000 --> 01:34:13.500
And we're redeemed and we're saved by Christ.

01:34:13.500 --> 01:34:17.600
You know, but at the same time Ruth obviously works hard and seeks the Lord.

01:34:17.600 --> 01:34:22.800
Now I want to go to a couple more places. Go to 1st Timothy chapter 5, go to 1st Timothy chapter 5.

01:34:22.800 --> 01:34:27.700
Why was Ruth also virtuous? And this is an important point. Why was Ruth virtuous?

01:34:28.100 --> 01:34:31.100
Ruth was virtuous because she remarried.

01:34:31.100 --> 01:34:32.100
Okay?

01:34:32.100 --> 01:34:34.100
That's why she was virtuous.

01:34:34.100 --> 01:34:36.100
And why are we virtuous?

01:34:36.100 --> 01:34:38.100
Because we were born again.

01:34:38.100 --> 01:34:41.100
Because we got saved by believing in Jesus Christ.

01:34:41.100 --> 01:34:43.100
That's what makes us virtuous.

01:34:43.100 --> 01:34:44.100
What's the opposite?

01:34:44.100 --> 01:34:45.100
Not getting married.

01:34:45.400 --> 01:34:48.400
and just living for the lust of this flesh and the lust of this world,

01:34:48.400 --> 01:34:50.400
and you're going to do wicked carnal things.

01:34:50.400 --> 01:34:52.400
This is the same picture of a widow.

01:34:52.400 --> 01:34:54.900
A widow is supposed to get remarried, and if she doesn't,

01:34:54.900 --> 01:34:57.400
the Bible says that she's going to be wicked, okay?

01:34:57.400 --> 01:35:00.400
It says in 1st Timothy chapter number 5, look at verse number 11.

01:35:02.400 --> 01:35:03.400
And it even says,

01:35:03.400 --> 01:35:05.400
She that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

01:35:06.400 --> 01:35:07.200
But...

01:35:07.200 --> 01:35:08.480
I want to start in verse number 11,

01:35:08.480 --> 01:35:10.200
but the younger widows refuse for when they have begun to

01:35:10.200 --> 01:35:13.560
act wanton against Christ, they will marry,

01:35:13.560 --> 01:35:15.800
having damnation because they have cast off their first faith

01:35:15.800 --> 01:35:16.880
and with all they learn to be idle,

01:35:16.880 --> 01:35:19.160
wandering about from house to house and not only idle,

01:35:19.160 --> 01:35:20.720
but tattlers also in busy bodies,

01:35:20.720 --> 01:35:22.120
speaking things which they ought not.

01:35:22.120 --> 01:35:23.880
I will therefore the younger women marry,

01:35:23.880 --> 01:35:25.240
bear children, guide the house,

01:35:25.240 --> 01:35:27.840
give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

01:35:27.840 --> 01:35:31.840
For some are already turned aside after Satan.

01:35:32.200 --> 01:35:36.200
So the Bible is saying like a woman that got married and loses her husband,

01:35:36.200 --> 01:35:39.700
you know, God forbid that would happen to a lady, but she should seek her marriage.

01:35:39.700 --> 01:35:43.700
And if she doesn't, she's going to end up causing herself to do a lot of problems.

01:35:43.700 --> 01:35:48.200
It's saying like a woman that's young cannot just serve God,

01:35:48.200 --> 01:35:51.200
getting free money and just, that's going to last.

01:35:51.200 --> 01:35:53.200
She's just not going to do it.

01:35:53.200 --> 01:35:57.700
So she might as well just get another husband and keep fulfilling her role in life

01:35:57.700 --> 01:35:59.700
of being a wife and being a mother.

01:35:59.700 --> 01:36:02.100
Look at 1 Timothy 2 verse number 11.

01:36:02.100 --> 01:36:04.500
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection,

01:36:04.500 --> 01:36:06.900
but I suffer not a woman to teach nor reserve authority over the man,

01:36:06.900 --> 01:36:08.900
but to be in silence for Adam was first formed, then Eve,

01:36:08.900 --> 01:36:11.800
and Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

01:36:11.800 --> 01:36:14.400
Notwithstanding, she shall be saved and childbearing,

01:36:14.400 --> 01:36:16.900
if they continue in faith and charity and holiness and sobriety.

01:36:16.900 --> 01:36:19.700
So the Bible is basically picturing this idea that, hey,

01:36:19.700 --> 01:36:21.400
the woman is saved and childbearing.

01:36:21.400 --> 01:36:22.600
And what way is she saved?

01:36:22.600 --> 01:36:24.000
She's saved from...

01:36:24.200 --> 01:36:27.800
being idle. She's saved from not having anything to do,

01:36:27.800 --> 01:36:31.400
and when she's idle she's going to become a busybody and a gossip

01:36:31.400 --> 01:36:34.400
and just getting involved in matters that don't belong under her

01:36:34.400 --> 01:36:37.400
and just cause all kinds of problems and being literally

01:36:37.400 --> 01:36:42.900
after Satan. Now what's funny is the Bible describes a satanic woman

01:36:42.900 --> 01:36:46.500
as one that's a busybody and a gossip and a tattler

01:36:46.500 --> 01:36:49.100
and getting involved in matters that doesn't belong to her.

01:36:49.500 --> 01:36:50.620
That's what the Bible is saying.

01:36:50.620 --> 01:36:52.860
The most satanic women in the world

01:36:52.860 --> 01:36:56.460
are ones that are busybodies and gossips and tattlers.

01:36:56.460 --> 01:36:59.340
That's what the Bible teaches, whether you like it or not.

01:36:59.340 --> 01:37:01.900
And so you say like, what does the most satanic woman

01:37:01.900 --> 01:37:03.100
look like in this world?

01:37:03.100 --> 01:37:05.740
It's one that's perpetually online,

01:37:05.740 --> 01:37:10.220
gossiping and slandering and lying and making false accusation.

01:37:10.220 --> 01:37:14.300
That is what is the epitome of the most satanic woman.

01:37:16.200 --> 01:37:18.500
Okay, one that's plucking down her own house.

01:37:18.500 --> 01:37:21.700
Obviously, the Bible talks about Jezebel and other wicked things,

01:37:21.700 --> 01:37:24.000
but it's saying women are going after Satan.

01:37:24.000 --> 01:37:28.300
In a saved context, the most wicked women are the ones that are these busybodies,

01:37:28.300 --> 01:37:33.300
slandering, lying, railing, just women have nothing to do.

01:37:33.300 --> 01:37:36.900
And look, when you have nothing to do, you get yourselves into trouble.

01:37:36.900 --> 01:37:38.500
Look at 1st Timothy 4 verse 7,

01:37:38.500 --> 01:37:42.180
but refuse profane in old wives' fables.

01:37:42.600 --> 01:37:46.300
Why didn't it say old husbands' fables?

01:37:46.300 --> 01:37:49.900
I'm noticing a pattern that women seem to struggle in a certain area.

01:37:49.900 --> 01:37:52.200
They make stories up.

01:37:52.200 --> 01:37:54.000
They make things up.

01:37:54.000 --> 01:37:55.100
They lie.

01:37:55.100 --> 01:37:57.900
Look at Titus chapter number 2 verse 3.

01:37:57.900 --> 01:38:01.000
Just flip the page to the right, Titus chapter 2 verse 3.

01:38:02.200 --> 01:38:05.800
the aged women likewise, that they be in behavior

01:38:05.800 --> 01:38:09.080
as we come with holiness, not false accusers.

01:38:09.080 --> 01:38:10.840
Why is the first thing brought up?

01:38:10.840 --> 01:38:13.720
Why is the first behavior not being a false accuser?

01:38:14.600 --> 01:38:16.280
Go back to 1st Timothy chapter number three.

01:38:16.920 --> 01:38:18.440
You thought we were almost had all these verses.

01:38:18.440 --> 01:38:20.120
There's so many verses here.

01:38:20.500 --> 01:38:22.900
It's saying, hey, these women are busybodies.

01:38:22.900 --> 01:38:24.300
They're going after Satan.

01:38:24.300 --> 01:38:26.500
They're supposed to be saved in childbearing.

01:38:26.500 --> 01:38:27.700
Not doing this.

01:38:27.700 --> 01:38:29.400
There's old wives' fables.

01:38:29.400 --> 01:38:31.300
They should not be false accusers.

01:38:31.300 --> 01:38:34.800
Then we bring up the deacon in 1 Timothy chapter number 3.

01:38:34.800 --> 01:38:37.500
What does the Bible say about the deacon's wives?

01:38:37.500 --> 01:38:39.300
It says, verse 11,

01:38:39.300 --> 01:38:42.540
even so, meaning specifically...

01:38:42.800 --> 01:38:45.700
must there wise be grave, meaning serious,

01:38:45.700 --> 01:38:50.400
not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

01:38:50.400 --> 01:38:52.500
Why bring this up?

01:38:52.500 --> 01:38:57.300
You know, why is it not bringing up being a slanderer for the man?

01:38:57.300 --> 01:38:59.000
It's not that men can't slander.

01:38:59.000 --> 01:39:00.500
It's not that men can't rail.

01:39:00.500 --> 01:39:02.000
It's not that men can't be busybodies.

01:39:02.000 --> 01:39:04.900
It's just this is like the number one temptation for women.

01:39:04.900 --> 01:39:06.400
This is the most common thing.

01:39:06.400 --> 01:39:08.400
And the Bible almost guarantees it.

01:39:08.400 --> 01:39:10.600
It says that if they don't get married,

01:39:10.900 --> 01:39:15.700
then they're just gonna be a busybody and getting into gossip and getting into lies.

01:39:15.700 --> 01:39:22.500
And look, there is nothing stopping any woman in this church from not being busy and becoming a busybody.

01:39:23.100 --> 01:39:29.100
There's nothing stopping any godly woman from going off course and getting involved in gossip

01:39:29.100 --> 01:39:35.460
and tale bearing and lies and false accusing and evil surmising and all this wicked stuff.

01:39:35.460 --> 01:39:37.580
And the Bible is saying, hey, you want to be a virtuous woman?

01:39:37.580 --> 01:39:39.300
Why don't you work with your hands?

01:39:41.200 --> 01:39:45.760
What did Ruth not do? She didn't go around telling stories and making up fables

01:39:45.760 --> 01:39:48.640
and going around slandering and lying and accusing people.

01:39:48.640 --> 01:39:51.440
You know, the Bible says a tale bearer reveals secrets,

01:39:51.440 --> 01:39:53.520
but he that is of a faithful spirit can seal the matter.

01:39:54.800 --> 01:39:58.320
You know, people that have something to do are not going to be involved in all this

01:39:58.320 --> 01:40:03.360
gossip and busybody railing and whatever. But you know what? There are women out there

01:40:03.360 --> 01:40:04.960
that are in danger of becoming this.

01:40:05.600 --> 01:40:09.600
And of course, the more kids you have, the less time you got for this.

01:40:09.600 --> 01:40:12.960
The least number of kids you have, the more likely you're getting to this.

01:40:12.960 --> 01:40:16.480
So, hey, all your kids are raised, you need to stay away from gossip.

01:40:17.120 --> 01:40:20.000
You don't have any kids yet, you need to stay away from gossip.

01:40:20.000 --> 01:40:23.280
Because the chances of you getting involved in this are super high.

01:40:23.700 --> 01:40:24.940
are very likely.

01:40:24.940 --> 01:40:26.980
And as a husband, you need to help guide your wife

01:40:26.980 --> 01:40:29.700
and lead her and gently instruct her

01:40:29.700 --> 01:40:32.180
to not get involved in this nonsense.

01:40:32.180 --> 01:40:33.780
You don't allow your wife to gently lead you,

01:40:33.780 --> 01:40:35.940
you gently lead your wife.

01:40:35.940 --> 01:40:37.860
And you keep her away from gossip and slander

01:40:37.860 --> 01:40:39.620
and lies and fables and stories.

01:40:39.620 --> 01:40:42.780
And isn't it funny that the people that have nothing to do

01:40:42.780 --> 01:40:44.780
always get involved in this stuff?

01:40:44.780 --> 01:40:45.860
I'm sorry, I'm not even done,

01:40:45.860 --> 01:40:48.900
so just buckle in a little bit more, okay?

01:40:48.900 --> 01:40:50.420
Go over to 2 Peter chapter two.

01:40:50.900 --> 01:40:52.940
It's almost like spiritually too, right?

01:40:52.940 --> 01:40:55.740
Pastors that don't have much of a congregation

01:40:55.740 --> 01:40:57.540
and have tiny churches,

01:40:57.540 --> 01:41:01.180
they get involved in the same things that these women do?

01:41:01.180 --> 01:41:03.260
And so, and they're not giving birth,

01:41:03.260 --> 01:41:04.860
because what is a pastor supposed to be doing?

01:41:04.860 --> 01:41:07.060
The work of an evangelist.

01:41:07.060 --> 01:41:10.860
The Bible commands pastors to do the work of an evangelist!

01:41:11.600 --> 01:41:16.100
What is that? Childbirth. Constantly producing. Constantly getting people saved.

01:41:16.100 --> 01:41:26.600
But when you're not producing, when you're not doing what God said, then you get involved in busybody, gossip, railing, slander, lies, fables, and it's kind of like a feminine quality.

01:41:26.600 --> 01:41:35.100
Men that are involved in so much gossip, slander, and evil surmising have feminine qualities, and they're being effeminate, and at the end of the day, it's after Satan.

01:41:35.400 --> 01:41:40.440
And of course, probably the worst person, you know, that I can think of involved in this is Tommy McMurtry.

01:41:40.440 --> 01:41:41.560
That's right.

01:41:41.560 --> 01:41:44.040
A guy constantly never involved in evangelism.

01:41:44.040 --> 01:41:44.840
Right.

01:41:44.840 --> 01:41:48.280
I mean, show me the last major soul-winning marathon this guy hosted.

01:41:48.280 --> 01:41:49.160
Right.

01:41:49.160 --> 01:41:53.320
Show me the last video he uploaded of him doing soul-winning, going on a missions trip.

01:41:53.320 --> 01:41:59.160
His last missions trip was to Israel to go find Temple Zero.

01:42:00.200 --> 01:42:03.400
where Satan and God met in his mind, okay?

01:42:04.400 --> 01:42:05.800
And he wants to go back.

01:42:06.400 --> 01:42:09.000
Think about it, we're, like, we're trying to go back to the Bahamas,

01:42:09.000 --> 01:42:10.200
we're trying to go to the Philippines.

01:42:10.200 --> 01:42:11.900
This guy wants to go to Israel!

01:42:12.300 --> 01:42:14.600
And even being worse than the old FBI,

01:42:14.600 --> 01:42:16.600
he is not even gonna try and get them saved!

01:42:17.700 --> 01:42:19.500
He just wants to make more movies,

01:42:19.700 --> 01:42:21.300
to just make more lies up!

01:42:21.800 --> 01:42:24.400
and more gossip and more evil surmisings.

01:42:24.400 --> 01:42:26.500
And of course, you know, when you don't have many church members,

01:42:26.500 --> 01:42:31.500
I guess you just sit, you know, and just dream up what you can all day long about other people.

01:42:31.500 --> 01:42:34.800
And look, why do women, you know, lie and gossip and slander?

01:42:34.800 --> 01:42:37.900
And, you know, let's just think about some of these things.

01:42:37.900 --> 01:42:42.300
I think one of the motivations, not the only, one of the motivations is a lady,

01:42:42.300 --> 01:42:46.300
you know, maybe she wants to be friends with someone.

01:42:46.300 --> 01:42:49.100
And she sees like, hey, I'm not friends with this person.

01:42:49.400 --> 01:42:51.880
but this other person is a friend with them.

01:42:51.880 --> 01:42:54.240
And instead of just being a good person

01:42:54.240 --> 01:42:56.640
or like trying to become their friend sincerely,

01:42:56.640 --> 01:42:59.680
they just end up slandering and lying

01:42:59.680 --> 01:43:02.360
and gossiping about this person to make them look bad,

01:43:02.360 --> 01:43:04.680
so that then they'll stop being their friend

01:43:04.680 --> 01:43:06.960
and I guess you're just second place.

01:43:06.960 --> 01:43:09.200
Because you don't want to become a first place friend,

01:43:09.200 --> 01:43:11.120
you're just willing to be a second place friend

01:43:11.120 --> 01:43:13.520
as long as you can trash first place enough.

01:43:14.000 --> 01:43:19.500
And it's like, hey, I guess Tommy McMurtry isn't willing to be a first place church that's against Zionism.

01:43:19.500 --> 01:43:22.200
So he has to slander all the competition.

01:43:22.200 --> 01:43:27.400
He has to lie about Pastor Mejia and other people to try and tear them down

01:43:27.400 --> 01:43:33.000
so that anybody that's woken up on this anti-Zionist agenda will think like, well, I guess he's second place.

01:43:33.000 --> 01:43:36.200
And look, this isn't just like speculation.

01:43:36.200 --> 01:43:40.500
I mean, there are people that used to be a member of my church that are now members of his church.

01:43:41.800 --> 01:43:46.360
Why? Because the guy can't actually get someone's aid and brought into his church or reach people's

01:43:46.360 --> 01:43:51.320
own. He has to try and reach from our congregation. He has to reach from inside the new IAB.

01:43:51.320 --> 01:43:55.920
So he has to just tear down the new IAB and lie about the new IAB and trash the new IAB

01:43:55.920 --> 01:43:59.080
and hopes that he can draw away disciples after himself.

01:44:00.100 --> 01:44:01.980
And again, this is what women will do.

01:44:01.980 --> 01:44:06.520
Women will lie and gossip and slander about people, tear them down so they can take their

01:44:06.520 --> 01:44:10.660
place, so they can elevate themselves, rather than just being a good person.

01:44:10.660 --> 01:44:11.660
Okay?

01:44:11.660 --> 01:44:16.300
And look, I want to make a few things clear, because you know, Tom Rick Mercher's making

01:44:16.300 --> 01:44:20.620
these like multiple hit piece films with Paul Wittenberger against my friend Pastor Steven

01:44:20.620 --> 01:44:25.660
Anderson, not for any good reason, but simply just to tear other people down to elevate

01:44:25.660 --> 01:44:26.060
themselves.

01:44:27.300 --> 01:44:29.300
I mean, the whole goal, they keep saying it.

01:44:29.300 --> 01:44:30.700
They keep saying their agenda.

01:44:30.700 --> 01:44:33.680
Paul made Pastor Anderson famous.

01:44:33.680 --> 01:44:37.340
Oh, Pastor Anderson's famous because of Paul.

01:44:37.340 --> 01:44:38.180
Oh.

01:44:38.180 --> 01:44:40.120
So why is it that McMurtry keeps teaming up with him?

01:44:40.120 --> 01:44:43.380
Because he thinks that he can actually make him famous.

01:44:43.380 --> 01:44:46.660
Sorry, the coffee enema crowd is not interested.

01:44:46.660 --> 01:44:48.260
It doesn't even exist, OK?

01:44:49.700 --> 01:44:52.540
You're not going to get famous by Paul Wittenberger.

01:44:52.540 --> 01:44:58.340
Pastor Anderson was famous before Paul Wittenberger ever thought about joining his church, okay?

01:44:58.340 --> 01:45:02.500
But look, you know, obviously with Pastor Anderson there was a drama a few years ago,

01:45:02.500 --> 01:45:05.380
and look, I want to make a few things clear.

01:45:05.380 --> 01:45:11.980
There's nothing wrong with a public figure talking about things that are public about a public figure, okay?

01:45:11.980 --> 01:45:14.660
I'm not trying to cover anything up, I'm not trying to hide anything.

01:45:14.660 --> 01:45:16.780
You know, if, if Toner and Merchantry...

01:45:17.000 --> 01:45:21.800
wants to say his piece and just say, hey, four of Pastor Anderson's kids came out and made a bunch

01:45:21.800 --> 01:45:25.800
of accusations against him and said a bunch of horrible things about him. That's okay, you can do that.

01:45:26.760 --> 01:45:32.360
That's that there's a place for that. But you know what, making a movie about it and putting it in the

01:45:32.360 --> 01:45:36.440
darkest light possible and trying to make money off of it.

01:45:36.900 --> 01:45:39.940
is not just being genuinely concerned for people

01:45:39.940 --> 01:45:44.740
or sharing public information as a result of concern.

01:45:44.740 --> 01:45:47.660
Right, me bringing up that Greg Locke ran up with the secretary.

01:45:47.800 --> 01:45:50.680
and is now committed adultery,

01:45:50.680 --> 01:45:54.560
that's not me trying to slander, lie, or tale bear,

01:45:54.560 --> 01:45:57.640
that's me trying to warn against this guy's actions,

01:45:57.640 --> 01:45:59.040
and that can be legitimate.

01:45:59.040 --> 01:46:00.960
You know, I'm not sitting here evil-surmising

01:46:00.960 --> 01:46:01.840
about everything that happened,

01:46:01.840 --> 01:46:03.520
I'm just saying, this is facts.

01:46:03.520 --> 01:46:05.600
He left his wife, he's with the secretary.

01:46:05.600 --> 01:46:07.520
If McMurtry or these crowd wanted to say,

01:46:07.520 --> 01:46:09.920
fact, the four oldest kids made these accusations,

01:46:09.920 --> 01:46:12.960
you can say that, but that's not what they're doing.

01:46:12.960 --> 01:46:15.520
And again, when it's not a public figure,

01:46:15.900 --> 01:46:17.900
You should just leave their past alone.

01:46:17.900 --> 01:46:21.180
If someone's repented of a sin or is moved on,

01:46:21.180 --> 01:46:23.900
don't bring up their past. Don't tell other people.

01:46:23.900 --> 01:46:25.740
You don't need to share that information.

01:46:25.740 --> 01:46:29.260
That's evil. That's wicked. That's going after Satan.

01:46:29.260 --> 01:46:33.980
If it's a public figure, I get that sharing public information about them

01:46:33.980 --> 01:46:36.540
and specific circumstances has its place.

01:46:36.540 --> 01:46:38.860
But let's think about what's not right.

01:46:38.860 --> 01:46:40.940
Shading everything in the darkest light possible.

01:46:41.900 --> 01:46:43.580
Telling people that don't need to know.

01:46:44.200 --> 01:46:47.800
It's like, I'm never going to go to pastors in this church and I want nothing to do with them.

01:46:47.800 --> 01:46:49.400
They don't need to know then.

01:46:49.400 --> 01:46:50.200
Why would they need to know?

01:46:50.200 --> 01:46:52.900
Obviously, if someone came up to me and said, hey, I'm moving to this church.

01:46:52.900 --> 01:46:54.100
Do you know anything about this person?

01:46:54.100 --> 01:46:55.500
They bring up facts about them.

01:46:55.500 --> 01:46:57.300
That's always going to be OK.

01:46:57.300 --> 01:47:00.000
But you don't need to tell people that don't need to know.

01:47:00.000 --> 01:47:01.800
Hey, I'm going to tell you about this pastor.

01:47:01.800 --> 01:47:03.200
You're never going to go to the church.

01:47:03.200 --> 01:47:04.600
You don't know anything about them.

01:47:04.600 --> 01:47:05.400
That's wrong.

01:47:06.400 --> 01:47:12.200
It makes no sense. Why would you bring up stuff about a pastor when it's just like they're not interested, have nothing to do with them.

01:47:12.200 --> 01:47:17.200
You just bring up information just to shame them or make them look bad or something. That's wicked.

01:47:17.200 --> 01:47:20.900
You know, or trying to garner more juicy details about it.

01:47:20.900 --> 01:47:23.100
It's like, why are they talking to the kids and everything?

01:47:23.100 --> 01:47:25.700
Well, we just want to find out every little juicy detail.

01:47:25.700 --> 01:47:27.400
This is wicked.

01:47:27.400 --> 01:47:30.700
Not sticking to the facts, heavy editorializing.

01:47:31.000 --> 01:47:32.500
Of course, they're not just going to tell you the facts.

01:47:32.500 --> 01:47:35.700
They're going to tell you like they're evil surmising all about it, right?

01:47:35.700 --> 01:47:40.400
What does it say in 2 Peter chapter 2 verse 2?

01:47:40.400 --> 01:47:40.700
It says,

01:47:40.700 --> 01:47:45.100
And many shall follow their pernicious ways by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil and spoke of.

01:47:45.100 --> 01:47:47.000
Here's a problem.

01:47:47.000 --> 01:47:48.200
There are false prophets out there.

01:47:48.200 --> 01:47:49.300
I get it.

01:47:49.300 --> 01:47:52.000
But then there's what people do is they'll take a false prophet.

01:47:52.000 --> 01:47:53.300
They'll show how they're bad.

01:47:53.300 --> 01:47:55.700
And then they make the truth bad with it.

01:47:56.100 --> 01:47:58.660
They'll say, oh, look at this bad pastor.

01:47:58.660 --> 01:48:00.420
Baptists are bad.

01:48:00.420 --> 01:48:02.240
King James only is bad.

01:48:02.240 --> 01:48:03.900
Soul winning is bad.

01:48:03.900 --> 01:48:06.400
Being against the pre-trib rapture is bad.

01:48:06.600 --> 01:48:09.800
Oh, I told you, you know, Christ isn't a wife beater.

01:48:09.800 --> 01:48:10.800
Amen.

01:48:10.800 --> 01:48:14.000
You know, these post trippers are going to be wife beaters or something.

01:48:14.000 --> 01:48:20.520
It's just evil surmising, like trying to make good doctrine sound bad with their evil surmising.

01:48:20.520 --> 01:48:22.820
There's this guy named Eric something.

01:48:22.820 --> 01:48:24.720
He's like got this preacher boys podcast.

01:48:24.720 --> 01:48:27.740
He just hates Christianity, hates Baptist, hates the Bible.

01:48:27.740 --> 01:48:32.960
So he just tries to take really bad people and then it tries to lump in good things and

01:48:32.960 --> 01:48:34.560
good doctrine with it and make them all sound.

01:48:34.600 --> 01:48:36.600
And look, Tom and Richard do the same thing.

01:48:36.600 --> 01:48:40.720
He can't stop talking trash on just Baptist in general.

01:48:40.720 --> 01:48:42.680
He says you can never trust a Baptist

01:48:42.680 --> 01:48:46.320
when talking about someone that has a different viewpoint.

01:48:46.320 --> 01:48:48.920
And I'm like, what, you can't trust church now?

01:48:48.920 --> 01:48:50.360
You can't trust a Baptist church?

01:48:50.360 --> 01:48:51.680
Aren't you a Baptist?

01:48:51.680 --> 01:48:52.600
Isn't it ironic?

01:48:52.600 --> 01:48:54.960
You can't trust a Baptist when he's talking about someone

01:48:54.960 --> 01:48:55.800
he doesn't like.

01:48:55.800 --> 01:48:58.080
Do you like Pastor Anderson?

01:48:58.080 --> 01:48:58.920
Are you a Baptist?

01:48:58.920 --> 01:48:59.920
Can I trust anything you say?

01:48:59.920 --> 01:49:00.600
No.

01:49:02.900 --> 01:49:12.260
And look, when you are soliciting money to warn about somebody, you've already failed.

01:49:12.260 --> 01:49:15.980
Please give me money to tell you about this guy being bad.

01:49:15.980 --> 01:49:16.980
Wrong.

01:49:16.980 --> 01:49:17.980
False.

01:49:17.980 --> 01:49:21.700
You can already tell the motive there.

01:49:21.700 --> 01:49:24.420
When you're not famous, when you don't have a platform,

01:49:25.100 --> 01:49:27.860
And so you're not giving a broad warning signal.

01:49:27.860 --> 01:49:30.580
You're trying to use this information to become famous

01:49:30.580 --> 01:49:33.660
and to get a platform also wicked.

01:49:33.660 --> 01:49:34.660
Yep.

01:49:34.660 --> 01:49:37.300
You're trying to garner attention through these means

01:49:37.300 --> 01:49:39.780
as opposed to just genuinely concerned about someone.

01:49:41.200 --> 01:49:44.200
Hey rehashing the same information, no new information.

01:49:44.200 --> 01:49:46.400
Not using your reach, trying to get reach.

01:49:46.400 --> 01:49:49.000
Trying to just make the way of truth evil spoken of.

01:49:49.000 --> 01:49:52.600
You know look, I get it that hey, as a public figure,

01:49:52.600 --> 01:49:55.100
things can be talked about.

01:49:55.400 --> 01:49:57.800
in a limited context.

01:49:57.800 --> 01:49:59.300
And I don't want someone to feel bad.

01:49:59.300 --> 01:50:02.300
You know, if someone close to me or a family member

01:50:02.300 --> 01:50:04.500
was asking me about, you know,

01:50:04.500 --> 01:50:06.200
one of these ex-New Ivy preachers,

01:50:06.200 --> 01:50:06.700
and they're just like,

01:50:06.700 --> 01:50:07.900
hey, do you think I should go to this church?

01:50:07.900 --> 01:50:10.100
It's like, well, he preached this weird thing.

01:50:10.100 --> 01:50:11.500
He did this weird thing.

01:50:11.500 --> 01:50:13.100
I think that seems legitimate.

01:50:13.100 --> 01:50:13.700
Okay?

01:50:13.700 --> 01:50:14.100
But you know what?

01:50:14.100 --> 01:50:15.300
I'm not going to go out of my way

01:50:15.300 --> 01:50:17.800
to just give unsolicited advice to people.

01:50:17.900 --> 01:50:23.340
and just tale bear and lie about them and rail on them and just evil surmising and speculate

01:50:23.340 --> 01:50:27.580
and just editorialize everything they've done and bring in all these motives. I mean this is just

01:50:27.580 --> 01:50:33.420
going after Satan and look this is what women do and this is what this pastor does is being gently

01:50:33.420 --> 01:50:40.460
led by his wife. He does and we should learn from that example. Women you know don't sit here and

01:50:40.460 --> 01:50:43.500
and just think like, I'm just a concerned citizen.

01:50:43.900 --> 01:50:49.600
So, you know, I'm just going to tell my friends, because I'm just so concerned about this person's behavior.

01:50:49.600 --> 01:50:53.100
So I'm just going to tell Ben about this person.

01:50:53.100 --> 01:50:55.200
And then I'm going to tell Sam about this person.

01:50:55.200 --> 01:50:57.200
And then I'm going to tell Diego about this person.

01:50:57.200 --> 01:50:59.000
I'm just concerned about them.

01:50:59.000 --> 01:51:01.000
You know, I'm just trying to follow the Bible.

01:51:01.000 --> 01:51:03.800
Look, that's tail-baring and gossip.

01:51:03.800 --> 01:51:06.600
Does it involve Ben? No? Then don't tell Ben.

01:51:06.600 --> 01:51:08.400
Does it involve Sam? Then don't tell Sam.

01:51:08.400 --> 01:51:10.400
Does it involve Diego? Then don't tell Diego.

01:51:10.700 --> 01:51:14.460
Okay. And again, we're not the, let's get out of the public figure mindset for a second.

01:51:14.460 --> 01:51:18.300
I'm just saying anyway, hey, you know something negative about someone, leave it to yourself.

01:51:19.260 --> 01:51:23.500
Charity covers a multitude of sins. If it doesn't involve them, if they don't have anything to do

01:51:23.500 --> 01:51:27.980
with it, leave them out of it. And look, when someone's dragging you into a conversation that

01:51:27.980 --> 01:51:32.220
you don't belong, you leave. You don't get out the popcorn.

01:51:33.800 --> 01:51:35.700
You don't sit here and just say like,

01:51:35.700 --> 01:51:38.500
oh yeah, I'm a wise biblical counselor.

01:51:38.500 --> 01:51:39.540
Let me hear about this.

01:51:39.540 --> 01:51:42.000
I'll tell you how to handle it.

01:51:42.000 --> 01:51:43.740
Hey, I need some advice.

01:51:43.740 --> 01:51:45.900
Will you tell me how to handle this situation?

01:51:45.900 --> 01:51:48.200
It's about this other person.

01:51:48.200 --> 01:51:49.680
They said something about this other person.

01:51:49.680 --> 01:51:50.640
I'm not involved.

01:51:50.640 --> 01:51:52.240
What do you think I should do?

01:51:52.240 --> 01:51:55.880
It's like, not involve me.

01:51:55.880 --> 01:51:56.480
And you know what?

01:51:56.480 --> 01:51:58.280
You should leave the conversation too.

01:51:59.400 --> 01:52:05.640
Right? It's like don't bring up all this weird stuff like what did she do and he did and she said and this happened

01:52:05.640 --> 01:52:11.920
It's like just drop it and let me tell you something when you got seven kids and they're all screaming and vomiting on themselves

01:52:11.920 --> 01:52:13.920
You don't have time for this

01:52:15.220 --> 01:52:18.680
When you're trying to make good bread you don't have time for all of this

01:52:19.500 --> 01:52:21.500
When you're trying to work with your hands,

01:52:21.500 --> 01:52:23.500
you don't have time for all of this.

01:52:23.500 --> 01:52:26.500
But no, you get in the mani, and what is it?

01:52:26.500 --> 01:52:28.500
Tell me the latest gossip.

01:52:28.500 --> 01:52:31.500
You know, oh, what's going on with her?

01:52:31.500 --> 01:52:33.500
Why does she look that way?

01:52:33.500 --> 01:52:35.500
Does she get in a few pounds?

01:52:35.500 --> 01:52:36.500
Is it because she's pregnant?

01:52:36.500 --> 01:52:37.500
Is she not pregnant?

01:52:37.500 --> 01:52:38.500
Oh, man.

01:52:38.500 --> 01:52:40.500
What's going on with that?

01:52:40.500 --> 01:52:42.500
That hair was a little too short.

01:52:42.500 --> 01:52:44.500
I don't know.

01:52:44.500 --> 01:52:46.300
Why get involved in this stuff?

01:52:47.400 --> 01:52:51.420
It would tear down our church. It's gonna ruin our church. You know what's gonna make our church good? Virtuous women.

01:52:52.380 --> 01:52:55.600
You know what's gonna make our church bad? A bunch of women that are going around

01:52:56.460 --> 01:52:58.460
gossiping, bringing up people's past,

01:52:58.940 --> 01:53:05.760
heavy editorizing just, hey, I think this is why they did this and this person this person's friend, this person's not this person friend.

01:53:05.760 --> 01:53:08.560
You know, if you want to be friends with someone, why don't you be friendly to them?

01:53:09.840 --> 01:53:14.320
Don't bring up negative things about other people. How shameful.

01:53:14.700 --> 01:53:17.700
How wicked. How deceitful.

01:53:17.700 --> 01:53:22.200
And look, if someone became your friend by trashing someone to you,

01:53:22.200 --> 01:53:25.200
they are not your friend and they will never be your friend.

01:53:25.200 --> 01:53:27.700
They will trash you.

01:53:27.700 --> 01:53:29.700
You need to just stay away from that person.

01:53:29.700 --> 01:53:32.200
And look, we can all be guilty of this, men can be guilty of this,

01:53:32.200 --> 01:53:35.700
but I'm just... obviously women struggle with this more than men.

01:53:36.000 --> 01:53:39.400
And I'm telling you, when someone brings you gossip,

01:53:39.400 --> 01:53:44.320
you're just as guilty by accepting it as the person telling it.

01:53:44.320 --> 01:53:46.600
Hey, I need to tell you about so-and-so.

01:53:46.600 --> 01:53:49.160
Did they talk about me? Is it about me? No.

01:53:49.160 --> 01:53:51.560
I don't want to hear it.

01:53:51.560 --> 01:53:54.600
Hey, I need advice. Ask the pastor.

01:53:54.600 --> 01:53:57.560
Talk to the person. And look, even you come to me,

01:53:57.560 --> 01:54:00.640
hey, so-and-so, I'm like, did you talk to them? No.

01:54:00.640 --> 01:54:02.440
Step one, talk to them about it.

01:54:02.600 --> 01:54:05.960
And if you don't want to talk to them about it, I don't want to talk about it.

01:54:05.960 --> 01:54:07.960
And you don't want to talk about it. No one does.

01:54:07.960 --> 01:54:09.880
Here's your one safety net, all right?

01:54:09.880 --> 01:54:12.120
You want to gossip? You want to tell bear?

01:54:12.120 --> 01:54:13.400
It's your spouse, all right?

01:54:14.680 --> 01:54:15.560
You're one flesh.

01:54:16.600 --> 01:54:18.600
You guys can have your own little movie night

01:54:18.600 --> 01:54:20.600
and you can talk about anything and everything, all right?

01:54:22.120 --> 01:54:23.640
Y'all can sit down and whatever,

01:54:24.200 --> 01:54:28.360
and just talk about everybody's dress and color and shape and hair and whatever.

01:54:29.240 --> 01:54:30.120
You know, I don't care.

01:54:31.200 --> 01:54:33.800
Talk to Jesus and your husband, okay?

01:54:33.800 --> 01:54:36.700
But quit gossiping about other ladies and whatever.

01:54:36.700 --> 01:54:38.200
And look, not everybody's gonna get along.

01:54:38.200 --> 01:54:40.100
We get it.

01:54:40.100 --> 01:54:41.300
You know what's gonna not help that?

01:54:41.300 --> 01:54:43.800
More gossip and more railing and more slander

01:54:43.800 --> 01:54:46.700
and more getting into people's private details.

01:54:46.700 --> 01:54:48.500
And look, if someone is not guilt-

01:54:48.500 --> 01:54:51.700
like they've forgiven something, they've gotten over it,

01:54:51.700 --> 01:54:53.000
they're not doing it anymore,

01:54:53.000 --> 01:54:55.300
bringing it up is wicked as hell.

01:54:55.300 --> 01:54:56.100
Yes.

01:54:56.100 --> 01:54:57.300
It's wicked as hell.

01:54:58.500 --> 01:55:02.020
Don't be like these evil, bitter, nasty, disgusting,

01:55:02.020 --> 01:55:05.620
new-I, ex-new-I-B people who just, just dwell,

01:55:05.620 --> 01:55:09.860
just dwell in gossip and slander and tail-bearing and just,

01:55:09.860 --> 01:55:11.220
it's after Satan, folks.

01:55:11.220 --> 01:55:12.980
That's why so many of them are literal Satanists.

01:55:15.300 --> 01:55:17.780
Andrew Loza is like after Satan, he is of Satan.

01:55:18.500 --> 01:55:20.180
He's wicked as hell.

01:55:20.180 --> 01:55:22.660
And of course, that's who Tommy O'Rourke exclusively used

01:55:22.660 --> 01:55:25.460
to share all of his slander and lies and railing about us.

01:55:26.200 --> 01:55:29.800
Just an eight-part Kool-Aid series, Kool-Aid detox.

01:55:29.800 --> 01:55:32.560
I mean, this guy would make women blush.

01:55:32.560 --> 01:55:34.720
There's only like one person that gossips more than him

01:55:34.720 --> 01:55:38.240
is maybe Amanda Gander, but they're like in a tight race.

01:55:38.240 --> 01:55:39.160
Okay?

01:55:39.160 --> 01:55:41.920
And it's like, where did her husband go?

01:55:41.920 --> 01:55:43.760
I mean, the guy just disappeared.

01:55:44.680 --> 01:55:47.080
The guy needs to take seeds of her social media accounts

01:55:47.080 --> 01:55:48.280
and delete them forever.

01:55:49.000 --> 01:55:55.560
Okay, because she's after Satan and so is this whole movement out there and you know what let that not be accused of steadfast

01:55:55.560 --> 01:55:58.760
Baptist Church, I would be so embarrassed and look I will handle it

01:55:58.760 --> 01:56:05.360
I would be so embarrassed if your wife acted like this online and was going around sharing all kinds of smut and

01:56:05.600 --> 01:56:12.080
Evil surmising and lies and rails of you know railing about people you know praise God steadfast Baptist Church behaves itself pretty well online

01:56:12.700 --> 01:56:15.660
But you know what there's some places. They're not don't be like them

01:56:16.500 --> 01:56:18.260
Let us be above approach.

01:56:18.260 --> 01:56:20.100
Let us not go after Satan.

01:56:20.100 --> 01:56:22.740
Let us not blaspheme the adoption of Christ.

01:56:22.740 --> 01:56:24.980
Let our older women be in behavior

01:56:24.980 --> 01:56:27.460
and teach the younger women to be in behavior.

01:56:27.460 --> 01:56:28.100
And you know what?

01:56:28.100 --> 01:56:30.100
This is just for the older women and the younger women.

01:56:30.100 --> 01:56:31.860
Hey, older women don't be in gossip either.

01:56:33.380 --> 01:56:35.220
If you want to share something about some lady,

01:56:35.220 --> 01:56:36.260
let it be positive.

01:56:37.220 --> 01:56:37.540
Okay?

01:56:38.340 --> 01:56:39.140
Not negative.

01:56:40.100 --> 01:56:46.300
Sorry it's long, but you know you guys lot I gossiped for you for the last 14 minutes. All right, so you didn't have to just kidding

01:56:46.300 --> 01:56:47.340
I didn't I was just telling the truth

01:56:47.340 --> 01:56:53.800
But hey at the end of the day, let us you know be like Ruth and be a virtuous person who wants to work

01:56:54.300 --> 01:56:59.620
Let us be someone who keeps our promises is seeking God is steadfast. It's willingly working with our hands

01:56:59.620 --> 01:57:01.620
Hey, we're gonna give a portion to others where

01:57:01.800 --> 01:57:07.000
of course, generous, and that we're seeking Christ's righteousness.

01:57:07.000 --> 01:57:08.800
Obviously, that's the remarriage picture.

01:57:08.800 --> 01:57:12.100
She's seeking Christ's righteousness. She's seeking to be remarried.

01:57:12.100 --> 01:57:14.100
And of course, let us pursue Christ.

01:57:14.100 --> 01:57:16.800
That's what we should be pursuing, not anything else.

01:57:16.800 --> 01:57:17.700
Let's close in prayer.

01:57:17.700 --> 01:57:19.000
Thank you, Heavenly Father, so much for your Word.

01:57:19.000 --> 01:57:21.400
Thank you so much for these examples in the Bible.

01:57:21.400 --> 01:57:23.200
Thank you for this godly woman, Ruth,

01:57:23.200 --> 01:57:26.000
to help us understand what a virtuous woman looks like.

01:57:26.000 --> 01:57:29.600
I pray that you would help the ladies and this church.

01:57:29.800 --> 01:57:30.800
to desire to work hard.

01:57:31.500 --> 01:57:35.980
the followers example to follow example progress 31 seek the Lord I pray you

01:57:35.980 --> 01:57:39.720
help them to not get involved in all kinds of lies and gossip and tail

01:57:39.720 --> 01:57:44.100
bearing and I pray that you help them to not try to use deceitful means to seek

01:57:44.100 --> 01:57:49.540
for friendships or or position or or whatever ulterior motives that they have

01:57:49.540 --> 01:57:54.100
I pray you help them to just be busy with their children with their family

01:57:54.100 --> 01:57:57.780
and working hard I pray you help our church to be busy doing the same thing

01:57:57.780 --> 01:57:59.500
not getting involved in all

01:57:59.500 --> 01:58:03.620
kinds of gossip and tail-bearing and lies, but rather to be involved in getting people

01:58:03.620 --> 01:58:09.260
saved, getting people born again, bringing people into the family.

01:58:09.260 --> 01:58:13.180
And I pray that you would help us to have a good spirit, to have unity in our church,

01:58:13.180 --> 01:58:16.980
to love one another, to cover each other's sins, not to try and expose each other and

01:58:16.980 --> 01:58:17.980
make each other look bad.

01:58:17.980 --> 01:58:19.300
In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

01:58:23.700 --> 01:58:26.740
All right, in closing, let's go to song number 44.

01:58:34.000 --> 01:58:37.900
Song number 44.

01:58:38.000 --> 01:58:42.000
We'll work till Jesus comes.

01:58:42.100 --> 01:58:45.740
Song number 44.

01:58:45.840 --> 01:58:48.240
Let's all sing that out together.

01:58:48.340 --> 01:58:49.400
Song number 44.

02:00:47.700 --> 02:00:50.600
Great singing everybody, you were all dismissed.
