00:00.000 --> 00:05.460
chapter 14 and I want you to go to Numbers chapter 13. Hold your place there in Joshua.

00:05.460 --> 00:09.360
We're going to come back to that at the end of the sermon. We're going to go to Numbers

00:09.360 --> 00:14.200
chapter 13. This morning I want to preach on Caleb. Now a lot of times when we study

00:14.200 --> 00:19.120
the Bible, especially in this particular era of the nation of Israel, we often focus on

00:19.120 --> 00:23.460
the Bible character known as Joshua. And of course he was a very prominent character.

00:23.460 --> 00:27.080
He aided the children of Israel into going into the promised land. He's the one that

00:27.080 --> 00:28.000
basically took a

00:28.000 --> 00:32.080
up after Moses and he did all that Moses commanded him.

00:32.080 --> 00:34.460
The Bible says they left nothing undone,

00:34.460 --> 00:35.720
all that Moses commanded him.

00:35.720 --> 00:36.700
Of course we know that.

00:36.900 --> 00:42.700
Joshua is a very powerful Old Testament picture of the Lord Jesus Christ

00:42.700 --> 00:48.400
because of the fact that just as Joshua was the one who led the children of Israel into the promised land

00:48.400 --> 00:53.400
in like manner, Jesus is the only one who can lead us into eternal life, right?

00:53.400 --> 00:56.900
And there's a lot of parallels between Joshua and Jesus Christ

00:56.900 --> 01:02.200
but often when we study these Old Testament events, we often focus on him

01:02.200 --> 01:04.840
But you know there's another character in the Bible that is

01:04.900 --> 01:08.020
just as great, just as many great exploits,

01:08.020 --> 01:10.640
and is worthy of noting and learning from,

01:10.640 --> 01:12.060
and that's Caleb, okay?

01:12.060 --> 01:14.900
Caleb was a very prominent character

01:14.900 --> 01:16.340
during this particular time, and in fact,

01:16.340 --> 01:20.060
he's one of the two who actually brought up a good report

01:20.060 --> 01:21.920
when they went to spy out the land.

01:21.920 --> 01:24.020
We obviously know that Joshua brought a good report,

01:24.020 --> 01:26.940
but so did Caleb, and I wanna go through

01:26.940 --> 01:30.180
the chronicles of Caleb this morning,

01:30.180 --> 01:31.740
and just kinda extrapolate some principles

01:31.740 --> 01:32.900
that we can learn from his this-

01:32.900 --> 01:37.900
from his life as we go into the tenth year of our church.

01:37.900 --> 01:40.900
I believe there's some principles that we can learn from Caleb.

01:40.900 --> 01:42.900
Now we're in Numbers chapter 13.

01:42.900 --> 01:45.900
Let me bring you up to speed on what's taking place here.

01:45.900 --> 01:49.900
Of course, God has just delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt,

01:49.900 --> 01:51.900
of course, through the hand of Moses.

01:52.700 --> 01:56.460
And at this point, you know, God's will is for them to inherit the land, right?

01:56.460 --> 01:58.380
Canaan land, the promised land.

01:58.380 --> 02:04.220
And so he wants them to inherit this land, but obviously he wants them to put in the work for it as well.

02:04.400 --> 02:07.440
He doesn't want to just hand it to them and just give it to them.

02:07.440 --> 02:10.240
He wants them to plan. He wants them to fight.

02:10.240 --> 02:14.800
He wants them to put in a considerable amount of effort in order to conquer the land.

02:14.800 --> 02:18.400
And so even though it's promised to the children of Israel,

02:18.400 --> 02:20.800
he wants them to put some planning to it. So what does he do?

02:20.800 --> 02:25.680
He commands Moses to essentially survey the land, okay?

02:25.680 --> 02:31.840
And he specifically commands Moses to pick out men of the 12 tribes of Israel.

02:32.800 --> 02:40.320
leaders of the 12 tribes in order to go in and spy out the land and sort of survey it and take a consensus and take an

02:40.480 --> 02:45.460
inventory of what the land looks like look at verse number one of chapter 13 says the Lord speaking to Moses saying

02:45.680 --> 02:53.020
Send down men that they may search the land of Canaan which I given to the children of Israel of every tribe of their fathers

02:53.120 --> 02:57.200
Shall you send a man every one a ruler among them?

02:57.800 --> 03:01.800
And Moses by the commandment of the Lord sent them from the wilderness of Payeran.

03:01.800 --> 03:04.840
All those men were heads of the children of Israel.

03:04.840 --> 03:10.120
So you know what better people to send into the promised land than the leaders themselves.

03:10.120 --> 03:14.440
When he's talking about the heads of the children of Israel, when he's talking about the rulers,

03:14.440 --> 03:19.400
these are the prominent individuals of those tribes. So you think of the tribe of Issachar,

03:19.400 --> 03:25.720
the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Benjamin, all of the leaders of those tribes are going to be the

03:25.800 --> 03:31.160
ones who are going into the promised land for 40 days in order to take inventory of

03:31.160 --> 03:32.160
it.

03:32.160 --> 03:33.160
Now who is one of them?

03:33.160 --> 03:38.800
Well we see in verse number 6 it says, of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

03:38.800 --> 03:44.800
So Caleb is numbered as being one of the rulers who is selected by Moses in order to go into

03:44.800 --> 03:45.800
the land.

03:45.800 --> 03:49.400
17. Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan.

03:50.500 --> 03:56.560
Sent into them get you up this way southward and go up into the into the mountain and see the land

03:56.820 --> 04:01.580
What it is and the people that dwell therein whether they be strong or weak

04:01.820 --> 04:08.060
Few or many and what the land is that they dwell in whether it be good or bad

04:08.060 --> 04:13.020
And what cities they be that they dwell in whether intense or in strongholds

04:13.020 --> 04:18.300
And what is the land excuse me what the land is whether it be fat or lean whether there be wood therein

04:18.500 --> 04:22.240
or not. So what is he saying here? Well we obviously know that the Lamb has already promised

04:22.240 --> 04:27.500
to the children of Israel. But God wants them to set up a plan, right? He wants them to

04:27.500 --> 04:28.220
go out.

04:28.700 --> 04:30.460
and see what they're actually dealing with.

04:30.460 --> 04:32.980
Now this is an important principle for you and I to learn

04:32.980 --> 04:35.860
that even though God has promised us certain things,

04:35.860 --> 04:37.660
he's promised us victory,

04:37.660 --> 04:39.820
he's promised us success and prosperity

04:39.820 --> 04:41.060
and certain spiritual matters,

04:41.060 --> 04:43.420
you know, it still requires effort on our part

04:43.420 --> 04:45.060
to actually obtain it, right?

04:45.060 --> 04:48.260
It's like, well, you know, God's promised to bless you,

04:48.260 --> 04:50.860
he's gonna provide for you, he's gonna protect you,

04:50.860 --> 04:52.860
but you know, you still gotta put in some effort on your end

04:52.860 --> 04:54.000
to be able to obtain that.

04:54.400 --> 04:59.220
Bible says seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and these things shall be added unto you

04:59.320 --> 05:01.900
So obviously God wants to add these things to you

05:01.900 --> 05:07.860
But it's your job to actually seek the Lord his righteousness do that which is right inside of the Lord

05:07.860 --> 05:11.400
And of course he will fulfill his end of the bargain

05:12.080 --> 05:14.300
Now thankfully it's not like that with salvation amen

05:14.600 --> 05:19.920
You know the only thing that's required on our end for salvation is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ

05:19.920 --> 05:21.920
And that's it you know Jesus Christ did all the work for us

05:22.400 --> 05:25.440
And that's always an important message to understand

05:25.440 --> 05:30.400
that eternal life can only be granted through our faith in Jesus Christ

05:30.400 --> 05:34.720
because He's the one who died on the cross to pay for our sins, He resurrected on the third day

05:34.720 --> 05:38.080
And when we say place our faith in Jesus Christ, what does the Bible mean by that?

05:38.080 --> 05:40.960
It means exclusively, it means only on Christ

05:40.960 --> 05:43.280
Meaning you can't add anything to that

05:43.280 --> 05:47.760
and once you do so, the Bible says you have eternal life and you can never lose that salvation

05:47.760 --> 05:50.240
for any reason whatsoever, okay?

05:50.600 --> 05:55.600
And I'm going to tell you right now, if you don't know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you're saved, if you're visiting with us today

05:55.600 --> 06:00.100
and you're like, you know, that's one subject that I've never really been able to like fully grasp.

06:00.100 --> 06:03.600
I've never really understood. I don't know if I'm saved.

06:03.600 --> 06:06.600
I don't know if I were to die at this moment that I would go to heaven.

06:06.600 --> 06:09.100
Well, you need to get that settled today. Okay.

06:09.100 --> 06:12.100
And look, thankfully, you don't have to keep God's commandments to be saved.

06:12.500 --> 06:16.240
Thankfully, you don't have to repent of your sins to be saved because of the fact that the matter is

06:16.360 --> 06:22.000
No one can turn from all their sins for salvation. It's impossible to there's only one man who

06:22.520 --> 06:26.620
Has never sinned in the history of mankind. That's the Lord Jesus Christ

06:27.800 --> 06:33.600
So that's why the Bible tells us that we need to place our faith in him in order for his righteousness to be imputed upon us

06:33.680 --> 06:35.120
So then when God looks at us

06:35.120 --> 06:40.980
He sees us through the perfection of Jesus Christ and not through our own righteousness because there's none righteous no not one

06:41.020 --> 06:45.980
There's none that do with good no not one right there's not a just man upon earth to do with good and sin if not

06:45.980 --> 06:48.660
You're like well, what if I sin after salvation well

06:48.660 --> 06:54.840
Here's the great thing about salvation is that once you get saved you're actually forgiven of sins past present and future

06:55.400 --> 06:59.120
Meaning that 2,000 years ago when Jesus Christ was crucified on a cross

06:59.360 --> 07:06.180
He died knowing what sins you were going to commit in the future and all of our sins past present and future and future are all future sins

07:06.180 --> 07:09.080
And respective to where Jesus Christ died on the cross just keep that in mind

07:09.080 --> 07:14.600
And it's not like you know you catch God off guard by your sins of whatever you do in the future

07:14.720 --> 07:16.720
It's not like God's like well. I didn't know you're gonna do that

07:17.600 --> 07:19.600
Hey, hey, this wasn't part of the deal here

07:20.000 --> 07:25.320
I saved you, but you know I don't know you're no he saved you knowing what sins you're gonna do in the future

07:26.540 --> 07:31.240
He saves you knowing that and he saves you forgiving you of those sins

07:31.820 --> 07:35.640
According to Romans chapter 4 the Bible clearly tells us that okay

07:35.640 --> 07:41.860
And people often hear a message like that and think to themselves or you're just giving people a license to send them

07:42.300 --> 07:44.540
Because what you're saying is I can believe and live however I want.

07:44.540 --> 07:47.820
No, that's not true. You can't live however you want because life has consequences.

07:49.020 --> 07:54.460
Life has consequences for the wages of sin is death. The Bible says that God will exact

07:54.460 --> 07:59.980
vengeance upon his own people. And it's a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

07:59.980 --> 08:05.980
Meaning that if you're to sin after salvation, God can and will severely punish you.

08:05.980 --> 08:08.540
Here's the difference though. He'll punish you here on this earth.

08:09.100 --> 08:13.540
He's not going to punish you in hell because he gave you eternal life.

08:13.540 --> 08:14.540
And you know what?

08:14.540 --> 08:15.940
You say, well, I just think I'll lose my salvation.

08:15.940 --> 08:17.620
Well, then it's not a gift to you now, is it?

08:18.200 --> 08:22.680
Because the Bible says, for by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves.

08:22.680 --> 08:26.800
It is the gift of God, not of works that any man should boast.

08:26.800 --> 08:29.720
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved

08:29.720 --> 08:30.720
us.

08:30.720 --> 08:34.280
We conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

08:34.280 --> 08:36.480
Jesus said, I give unto them eternal life.

08:36.480 --> 08:40.600
And listen to this, they shall never perish.

08:40.600 --> 08:43.400
Not maybe, depends on what you do though.

08:43.800 --> 08:46.560
It depends on what kind of sins you commit or something like that.

08:46.560 --> 08:47.560
No, never.

08:47.560 --> 08:50.720
What about mortal sins?

08:50.720 --> 08:52.040
All sin is mortal sin.

08:52.040 --> 08:54.080
What are you talking about?

08:54.080 --> 08:57.760
The Bible says whosoever keepeth the whole law, yet offendeth in one point, he is guilty

08:57.760 --> 08:59.840
of all.

08:59.840 --> 09:04.240
Don't allow the Roman Catholic Church to define for you what sin is.

09:04.240 --> 09:07.960
Sin according to the Bible is defined as the transgression of the law.

09:07.960 --> 09:09.480
And let me just give you the bad news here.

09:09.480 --> 09:10.120
You've all sinned.

09:10.900 --> 09:15.600
Everyone has sinned before the Lord and therefore are in need of salvation.

09:15.600 --> 09:20.100
Now here's the thing, after you get saved, now it's time to put in work, right?

09:20.100 --> 09:24.300
The Bible says, for we are as workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works,

09:24.300 --> 09:27.700
which God hath before a day, that we should walk in them.

09:27.900 --> 09:31.140
Not that we will walk in them because not everyone does good works.

09:31.140 --> 09:33.140
Not everyone maintains good works.

09:33.140 --> 09:34.780
Not everyone lives a righteous life.

09:34.780 --> 09:38.020
That's why God is constantly putting out the carrot.

09:38.020 --> 09:41.460
He's constantly putting out the incentive, the motivation to do that,

09:41.460 --> 09:43.860
which is right inside of the Lord so we can be blessed of God.

09:43.860 --> 09:47.140
You know, there's different motivations that God gives us in order to stay right with God.

09:47.140 --> 09:51.340
The consequences of sin, the rewards of obedience, or how about this?

09:51.340 --> 09:53.420
The love of Christ constrains us, right?

09:53.900 --> 09:57.060
All of these, at the end of the day though,

09:57.060 --> 09:58.940
produce blessings in our life,

09:58.940 --> 10:02.060
but it requires effort on our end to do so,

10:02.060 --> 10:03.800
just like what we see here in the story.

10:03.800 --> 10:09.560
You know, the promised land, the land where they get to dwell in houses that they did not build,

10:09.560 --> 10:13.960
you know, drink out of wells that they did not dig, they get to eat at the vineyards that they

10:13.960 --> 10:19.400
did not plant, that's all given to them, but they have to put in the work to actually deserve it,

10:19.400 --> 10:25.080
to obtain it, to actually inherit that physical land. So Moses is telling the children of Israel,

10:25.700 --> 10:29.540
Take inventory. You know, find out if the people are big.

10:29.540 --> 10:31.640
Find out what kind of houses they dwell in.

10:31.640 --> 10:33.440
Find out if they dwell in tents.

10:33.440 --> 10:35.040
Find out if they dwell in houses.

10:35.040 --> 10:36.440
Why is he telling them this?

10:36.440 --> 10:41.080
Well, because he needs them to go in to the promised land with a plan, right?

10:41.080 --> 10:43.940
You don't want to just flippantly live, you know, the Christian life.

10:43.940 --> 10:45.240
You need to have a plan.

10:45.240 --> 10:46.840
It's like, well, I'm going to read the Bible this year.

10:46.840 --> 10:49.080
But what's your plan, though?

10:49.080 --> 10:52.280
You know, oh, I'm going to read the Bible two times this coming year.

10:52.280 --> 10:53.640
But what's the plan, though?

10:54.000 --> 10:56.920
Oh, I'm going to win 50 souls to Christ.

10:56.920 --> 10:58.360
That's great, but what's the plan though?

10:58.600 --> 11:03.880
There needs to be a plan, a structured plan that you put into place in order to obtain that

11:03.880 --> 11:07.180
And this is exactly what Moses is telling the children of Israel

11:07.180 --> 11:09.980
He's saying, hey, find out if they have strongholds

11:09.980 --> 11:13.100
Find out if the land is fat, if there's wood

11:13.100 --> 11:14.900
He goes on to say in verse 20

11:14.900 --> 11:19.820
In B.E. of good courage and bring of the fruit of the land

11:19.820 --> 11:23.460
Now the time was the time of the first ripe grapes, the Bible says

11:23.460 --> 11:26.540
So what does it say? He's like, hey, aside from, you know

11:26.600 --> 11:31.100
So canvassing the land, checking out the enemies,

11:31.100 --> 11:33.500
where they live, make sure you bring some of those grapes

11:33.500 --> 11:35.420
back too.

11:35.420 --> 11:36.260
Now why is he saying that?

11:36.260 --> 11:38.260
He goes, well, the reason he's saying that is because he

11:38.260 --> 11:44.500
wants them to have an incentive of what's to await them.

11:44.500 --> 11:47.060
So he's like, bring back some of the grapes, bring back some

11:47.060 --> 11:51.580
of the fruit so that people are incentivized and motivated to

11:51.580 --> 11:53.940
actually go in and fight for the land.

11:54.300 --> 11:56.540
He goes on to say in verse 21,

11:56.540 --> 11:58.580
So they went up and searched the land

11:58.580 --> 12:01.260
from the wilderness of Zin and Rahab,

12:01.260 --> 12:03.060
as men come to Hamath.

12:03.060 --> 12:05.180
And they ascended by the south and came

12:05.180 --> 12:09.340
unto Hebron, which is a high man, Shishai, Telmai,

12:09.340 --> 12:11.020
the children of Anak were.

12:11.020 --> 12:14.420
Now Hebron was built seven years before Zohan in Egypt.

12:14.420 --> 12:16.300
Now why is that important to know?

12:16.300 --> 12:18.100
Well, the Bible is simply telling us here

12:18.100 --> 12:19.780
that this land that they're going into

12:19.780 --> 12:21.000
is the land of antiquity.

12:21.100 --> 12:25.100
Because it says here that it was built seven years before Zohan and Egypt.

12:25.100 --> 12:29.600
And the children of Israel are familiar with Zohan because they were in Egypt for that long, right?

12:29.600 --> 12:31.100
420 years.

12:31.100 --> 12:35.600
So they know Zohan and they're saying, well, Hebron is an even older city.

12:35.600 --> 12:40.600
And the significance of this, if you know the story, is that Caleb ends up inheriting this land.

12:40.600 --> 12:43.100
This particular land, Hebron, okay?

12:43.700 --> 12:50.100
Now why is that significant? Well because Hebron is the area that's a very difficult territory to overcome.

12:50.100 --> 12:53.100
But this is the area that Caleb requests.

12:53.100 --> 13:02.100
So they're going into Hebron and this is where the giants are, this is where the cities that are walled are very high are.

13:02.100 --> 13:04.600
This is where the challenge is.

13:05.000 --> 13:08.080
It says in verse 23, and they came into the brook of Eshkol,

13:08.080 --> 13:10.760
and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes,

13:10.760 --> 13:13.240
and they bare it between two upon a staff,

13:13.240 --> 13:15.640
and they brought it the pomegranates and other figs.

13:15.640 --> 13:17.140
And the place was called the brook of Eshkol

13:17.140 --> 13:18.480
because of the clusters of grapes,

13:18.480 --> 13:21.020
which the children of Israel cut down from thence,

13:21.020 --> 13:24.340
and they returned from searching of the land after 40 days.

13:24.340 --> 13:25.920
Now, here's one thing we're going to learn

13:25.920 --> 13:28.800
from this particular passage, is that the Christian life

13:28.800 --> 13:30.480
is all about perspective.

13:32.400 --> 13:38.400
Why? 12 men go into the promised land and they all see the same exact thing.

13:38.400 --> 13:44.400
They all see the same walls, they see the same enemies, they see the same clusters of grapes,

13:44.400 --> 13:47.400
but yet 10 out of the 12 bring back an evil report.

13:47.400 --> 13:52.400
Two of them are just like, let's do it, let's whoop them, let's take it over.

13:52.400 --> 13:55.000
These guys are nothing. The other 10 are just wimps.

13:55.100 --> 13:56.100
They're just scared.

13:56.100 --> 13:59.480
But it's not because they saw something different than what the two saw.

13:59.480 --> 14:00.480
They both saw the same thing.

14:00.480 --> 14:03.560
And let me just say this, the Christian life, that's exactly how it is.

14:03.560 --> 14:05.460
It's all about perspective.

14:05.460 --> 14:09.480
You know, you could have the same people go to church, listen to the same sermons, fellowship

14:09.480 --> 14:14.340
with the same people, have God work in the same way in that church, and walk away having

14:14.340 --> 14:15.340
two different perspectives.

14:15.340 --> 14:17.480
Oh man, he was just too mean.

14:18.700 --> 14:24.420
He just preached it. Yeah, he just too angry. I just can't hand it but then someone else walk over there man that changed my life

14:25.420 --> 14:27.720
Someone walk away and be like well that that guy's kind of rude

14:28.100 --> 14:32.320
You know oh man, and then another one walk. I was like that guy used a lot of scripture

14:32.940 --> 14:35.860
Want to walk away and say I don't feel like the Spirit of God is there

14:37.200 --> 14:40.000
I just don't think God is in that.

14:40.000 --> 14:42.040
And the other person will be like, you know what?

14:42.040 --> 14:44.720
God's presence is there because I heard the word of God being preached.

14:44.720 --> 14:47.080
They both experience the same exact thing.

14:47.080 --> 14:49.560
But they have two different perspectives, right?

14:49.560 --> 14:52.600
One is of faith and the other one is not.

14:52.600 --> 14:58.520
The ten had a negative perspective on the promised land because they were in unbelief.

14:58.520 --> 14:59.960
They were afraid.

14:59.960 --> 15:01.080
They were scared.

15:01.080 --> 15:02.160
They were cowards.

15:02.160 --> 15:03.920
They did not have faith in God.

15:04.300 --> 15:08.460
Whereas Joshua and Caleb, they're just like, man, I want more grapes.

15:09.820 --> 15:10.460
Let's do it.

15:11.500 --> 15:16.140
Skip down, let's go to verse number 26.

15:17.340 --> 15:19.260
So they come back after 40 days.

15:19.260 --> 15:21.000
Look, 40 days is a long time.

15:21.200 --> 15:24.400
You're hanging out with these guys for 40 days, okay?

15:24.400 --> 15:26.480
You're seeing the same exact thing for 40 days,

15:26.480 --> 15:29.120
the same enemies, the same fruit for 40 days,

15:29.120 --> 15:31.760
and what's the job of these 12 men?

15:31.760 --> 15:33.120
What are they supposed to do?

15:33.120 --> 15:36.480
Well, because they're leaders, because they're rulers,

15:36.480 --> 15:39.680
they're supposed to be an example to the congregation.

15:39.680 --> 15:41.760
Meaning they're supposed to come back and say,

15:41.760 --> 15:43.440
man, you're not gonna believe it.

15:43.440 --> 15:45.200
Like, this place is awesome.

15:45.200 --> 15:46.720
Because keep in mind, the children of Israel,

15:46.720 --> 15:48.400
they're just really scared all the time.

15:49.000 --> 15:53.000
They're always afraid, they're always scared, they're kind of wimpy in a lot of ways

15:53.000 --> 15:59.000
So they need strong leaders to lead them and say, hey, this can be done

15:59.000 --> 16:03.000
God's already promised it to us, it's awesome, I already picked out my house

16:03.000 --> 16:07.000
I got this one well that I already picked out, it's going to be awesome, it's going to be great

16:07.000 --> 16:11.000
And that's exactly what they need, they need to be encouraged to serve

16:11.000 --> 16:13.900
to actually obey the Lord in this area

16:14.100 --> 16:16.100
That's what they're supposed to do. Look at verse 26.

16:16.100 --> 16:20.100
And they went and came to Moses and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel,

16:20.100 --> 16:25.100
unto the wilderness of Peirah and to Kadesh, and brought back word unto them, and to all the congregation,

16:25.100 --> 16:28.100
and showed them the fruit of the Lamb.

16:28.100 --> 16:38.100
And they told them and said, We came into the land, whether thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey, and this is the fruit of it.

16:38.100 --> 16:41.100
So everything so far so good, right?

16:41.500 --> 16:43.180
They're like, hey, we went there.

16:43.180 --> 16:45.020
It is awesome.

16:45.020 --> 16:46.780
It does flow with milk and honey.

16:46.780 --> 16:49.740
Look at these massive grapes that we brought back.

16:49.740 --> 16:52.060
OK?

16:52.060 --> 16:53.540
Good report.

16:53.540 --> 16:55.860
They should have just ended it right there.

16:55.860 --> 16:58.100
And say, Moses, you have any other words you want to say?

16:58.100 --> 17:00.100
When do we start?

17:00.100 --> 17:02.100
Here's the bad word right here, verse 28.

17:02.100 --> 17:04.300
Nevertheless.

17:04.300 --> 17:05.780
Nevertheless.

17:05.780 --> 17:07.100
What do you mean, nevertheless?

17:07.400 --> 17:13.040
Never the yeah, it's a great land. It is the land of God promise. It's true that God fulfills his word

17:13.160 --> 17:15.160
It's true that he fulfills his promise

17:15.480 --> 17:16.680
but

17:16.680 --> 17:18.680
But what?

17:18.760 --> 17:25.240
Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell the land and the cities are walled and very great

17:25.960 --> 17:27.960
Moreover, we saw the children of Annick there

17:29.920 --> 17:33.880
Now let me tell you why this statement is so stupid and absurd

17:35.000 --> 17:37.000
Everyone already knew that these people were there.

17:40.000 --> 17:46.240
Way back when when God is telling him about this land. He's explaining to them that there's gonna be giants

17:46.300 --> 17:51.980
He's explaining that this that the children of anac are gonna be there. He's even telling them. Hey, they're stronger than you

17:52.580 --> 17:56.880
Like he literally said he's like I just want to let you know you're gonna go into this land and they're actually stronger than you

17:57.220 --> 17:59.920
It's okay, but all of a sudden. Oh, man

18:00.560 --> 18:03.120
This is so this is funny people there

18:03.780 --> 18:07.200
This is Giants. It's just like why are you saying this?

18:07.900 --> 18:09.900
We already know this.

18:09.900 --> 18:13.900
It seems as though you're just trying to instill fear into the hearts of the brethren,

18:13.900 --> 18:17.900
into the congregation, because you're too scared to go out and fight,

18:17.900 --> 18:21.900
so therefore you have to discourage the hearts of your brothers so that they don't go and fight.

18:21.900 --> 18:25.900
This is already new, we already know this, it's common knowledge,

18:25.900 --> 18:29.900
you don't have to bring this up, and this kind of demonstrates to us as Christians

18:29.900 --> 18:33.900
that we need to make sure that we're not always negative about things, right?

18:34.400 --> 18:41.200
Have the right perspective. If it's time to fight a spiritual battle, don't make it as though don't make a mountain out of a molehill

18:41.840 --> 18:47.520
And say yeah, but you know what happens if we get persecuted or something, you know, they threaten to blow up our church

18:48.960 --> 18:52.260
Yeah, we know that already that's that's already happened

18:53.200 --> 18:56.320
This is not new territory for us.

18:56.320 --> 18:58.400
God already told us that this was going to happen.

18:58.400 --> 19:03.360
He said, yea, all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

19:03.360 --> 19:08.480
Think it not strange the fire of your trial which shall try you as though some strange thing happened unto you.

19:08.480 --> 19:14.320
Why are you bringing up the sons of Anak in the walled cities as though God didn't tell us this to begin with?

19:14.320 --> 19:15.680
Nevertheless...

19:16.000 --> 19:19.760
Verse 29, the Amalekites dwell in the land of the south.

19:19.760 --> 19:21.680
Yeah, thank you, Sherlock Holmes.

19:21.680 --> 19:23.200
I appreciate that information.

19:23.200 --> 19:24.000
We know that already.

19:25.360 --> 19:29.280
And the Hittites and the Jebusites and the Abberites dwell in the mountains.

19:29.280 --> 19:30.560
Yeah, they're called Canaanites.

19:31.760 --> 19:33.120
It's called Canaan land.

19:33.120 --> 19:34.000
We already know this.

19:34.960 --> 19:38.000
And the Canaanites dwell by the sea and by the coast of Jordan.

19:38.000 --> 19:41.200
And you just want to throw that extra information in there.

19:41.200 --> 19:42.640
And they're by the ocean.

19:45.900 --> 19:50.900
So, you know, if you could imagine what this looks like at this moment, okay?

19:50.900 --> 19:54.900
Because again, the children of Israel are just naturally afraid.

19:54.900 --> 20:00.900
Any amount of negative information or news just gets them scared and gets them going, right?

20:00.900 --> 20:03.900
It's kind of like you when you're on social media and stuff.

20:03.900 --> 20:06.900
You start hearing all kinds of stuff, all of a sudden you're afraid, you're just all scared.

20:06.900 --> 20:08.300
What's going to happen?

20:09.100 --> 20:15.420
You know, yeah, it's true. You know, God's taking care of me this this this far and he's providing me but what if

20:17.340 --> 20:20.300
You know newsome. Yeah, we've had news this whole time

20:22.300 --> 20:25.280
It's like when when when other states criticize california

20:26.300 --> 20:29.740
And they're just like yeah, but your governor is do some oh really?

20:30.860 --> 20:32.860
No way

20:34.140 --> 20:35.800
Honey, did you know that?

20:36.600 --> 20:38.600
Really, I didn't know that.

20:38.600 --> 20:41.200
Thank you for pointing out the obvious.

20:41.200 --> 20:42.040
You know what it's meant to do?

20:42.040 --> 20:44.600
It's meant to instill fear.

20:44.600 --> 20:46.500
It's meant to discourage.

20:46.500 --> 20:48.960
It's meant to minimize faith, right?

20:48.960 --> 20:52.040
There's no reason why you didn't bring this up.

20:52.040 --> 20:56.200
So obviously, this is causing a stir within the congregation

20:56.200 --> 20:58.600
and this is where Caleb steps in the picture.

20:58.600 --> 20:59.440
Verse 30.

20:59.700 --> 21:04.700
And Caleb stilled the people before Moses and said,

21:04.700 --> 21:06.580
let us go up at once and possess it,

21:06.580 --> 21:09.460
for we are able to overcome it.

21:09.460 --> 21:11.220
So Caleb was just, what does it mean to still?

21:11.220 --> 21:13.780
It was like, calm down, relax.

21:13.780 --> 21:16.100
Lower your voice, okay?

21:16.100 --> 21:18.620
Stop shaking, it's okay.

21:19.000 --> 21:21.720
You know, relax, all right, relax.

21:21.720 --> 21:23.720
Let's just go up at once and overtake it.

21:23.720 --> 21:25.000
We can overcome them.

21:25.000 --> 21:26.320
He's trying to instill courage.

21:26.320 --> 21:28.120
And look, Caleb is a courageous man,

21:28.120 --> 21:29.500
but there's only so much courage you

21:29.500 --> 21:31.480
can instill into a congregation that has already

21:31.480 --> 21:33.920
been infected by fear.

21:33.920 --> 21:35.720
So he's trying to instill the people.

21:35.720 --> 21:38.440
And keep in mind, Caleb is 40 years old at this time.

21:38.440 --> 21:38.940
OK?

21:38.940 --> 21:39.100
you

21:39.600 --> 21:44.140
He's 40 years old, he's like, let's just go up at once, let's possess it, we're able to overcome it

21:44.140 --> 21:44.640
Verse 31

21:44.640 --> 21:51.140
But the men that went up with him said, we'd be not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we

21:51.140 --> 21:54.640
Yeah, God already told you that, but here's the way it works with God

21:54.640 --> 21:58.240
Is that when something is stronger than us, God makes up the difference on our end

21:59.900 --> 22:03.260
You know, greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world.

22:03.260 --> 22:07.020
You know, God and us make up the majority.

22:07.020 --> 22:09.900
If God be for us, who can be against us?

22:09.900 --> 22:12.540
No weapon formed against us shall prosper.

22:12.540 --> 22:15.820
That's what the Bible says, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.

22:17.420 --> 22:20.060
There's just like, they're stronger than, everyone's stronger than you.

22:21.260 --> 22:22.060
You're weak.

22:22.400 --> 22:25.440
That's not any new thing, we already know this.

22:25.440 --> 22:27.600
We're not doing this based upon our own might.

22:27.600 --> 22:29.360
We're wrestling not against flesh and blood.

22:29.360 --> 22:31.600
We need to make sure that we rely upon the Lord.

22:32.400 --> 22:35.120
And look folks, the Christian life is going to be filled with challenges

22:35.120 --> 22:37.600
that require for you to rely upon God.

22:38.200 --> 22:40.520
And it's good when you are lacking.

22:40.520 --> 22:44.360
It's good when the challenge seems daunting.

22:44.360 --> 22:46.200
It's good when it seems as though,

22:46.200 --> 22:48.000
you know, from a practical perspective,

22:48.000 --> 22:49.240
you're not gonna come out winning

22:49.240 --> 22:50.880
because then God can show himself strong

22:50.880 --> 22:53.280
on the behalf of those whose heart is perfect with him.

22:53.280 --> 22:54.520
So the Bible says, right?

22:55.400 --> 22:57.640
It's like they're stronger than us. Look at verse 32.

22:57.640 --> 23:04.240
And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel,

23:04.240 --> 23:09.400
saying, The land through which we have gone to search it is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof.

23:09.400 --> 23:12.840
And all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature.

23:12.840 --> 23:15.520
So the Bible says here that they brought up an evil report.

23:15.520 --> 23:16.720
What does that mean?

23:16.720 --> 23:21.320
Well, a people of good report, according to Hebrews chapter 11, are people of faith.

23:21.900 --> 23:27.900
An evil report is when someone begins to instill fear because they lack faith.

23:27.900 --> 23:33.420
They're basically removing the faith of the people by slandering the lamp.

23:33.420 --> 23:37.660
It actually uses that phrase later on, that they slandered the lamp.

23:38.600 --> 23:44.200
Verse 33 says, and there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants.

23:44.200 --> 23:51.320
And I want you to notice this, and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

23:51.320 --> 23:53.800
Now that is a super funny verse to me.

23:53.800 --> 23:57.160
Okay, let me explain to you why it's really funny.

23:57.160 --> 24:00.200
Because what they're doing is really projecting here, right?

24:01.500 --> 24:06.700
What are they saying? Well, first of all, they went out to spy the land, meaning that no one saw them.

24:06.700 --> 24:08.700
First and foremost.

24:08.700 --> 24:12.900
Meaning they didn't commune with anybody there.

24:12.900 --> 24:19.700
So when it says here, we were in our own site as grasshoppers, just believe what they're saying.

24:19.700 --> 24:24.700
They're basically saying, you know, we see ourselves as grasshoppers in their site.

24:24.700 --> 24:28.500
And it's almost as if they caught themselves and then they said, so we were in their site.

24:29.000 --> 24:31.000
How do you know that? You didn't commune with them.

24:31.000 --> 24:38.000
Now, I'm reading this and I'm thinking to myself, well, that makes it even better if we're grasshoppers in their sight.

24:38.000 --> 24:44.000
That's even better. You say, why? Well, what does God use to judge lands? Locusts and grasshoppers.

24:45.000 --> 24:46.680
How did God destroy Egypt?

24:46.680 --> 24:48.360
Locust and grasshoppers, right?

24:48.360 --> 24:50.280
How does he just destroy crops?

24:50.280 --> 24:54.000
Locust and grasshoppers often just overtake entire crops

24:54.000 --> 24:55.520
and just destroy resources.

24:55.520 --> 24:57.800
I would have been like, great illustration.

24:57.800 --> 24:59.580
Thank you for proving my point.

24:59.580 --> 25:01.520
We are going to be like grasshoppers in their site.

25:01.520 --> 25:03.920
We are just going to completely destroy their resources.

25:03.920 --> 25:05.800
We're just going to completely take them over.

25:06.600 --> 25:14.600
But what we see here is these guys are just fearful, they're afraid, oh they're like giants, and they're really tall.

25:14.600 --> 25:20.100
Now let me just make a side note here that has nothing to do with the sermon, but it's worth mentioning since we're in this verse.

25:20.100 --> 25:23.600
When it says giant, it's not referring to a 450 foot giant.

25:23.600 --> 25:29.100
This isn't referring to some Christian fantasy known as the Book of Enoch.

25:30.000 --> 25:35.000
And it's funny because anytime you criticize the book of Enoch, people automatically think you're criticizing Enoch.

25:35.000 --> 25:40.000
But Enoch takes no credit. The biblical Enoch takes no credit for the book of Enoch.

25:40.000 --> 25:47.000
And because we are rejecting the book of Enoch, does not mean we reject Enoch because he's not the one responsible for writing that book.

25:48.100 --> 25:53.220
Now the book of Enoch is the one that is largely responsible for promoting this false doctrine,

25:53.220 --> 25:59.260
this false ideology that there were literally 450 foot giants in the Bible even though nothing

25:59.260 --> 26:01.560
in the Bible says the size of these people.

26:01.560 --> 26:04.220
Okay, being 450 feet.

26:04.220 --> 26:06.020
Only in the book of Enoch is that measurement found.

26:06.900 --> 26:14.900
But secondly, the giants in the Bible only measured up to about nine, possibly 10, 11 feet at the most.

26:14.900 --> 26:18.900
That's considered a giant. You're like, that's not a giant. Stand next to a person who's 10 feet tall.

26:18.900 --> 26:21.900
You tell me if that's not a giant to you.

26:21.900 --> 26:25.600
A giant is just someone who's just large. Okay?

26:26.100 --> 26:31.100
So you like well, I still think there is 450 foot Giants in this world at one point

26:31.100 --> 26:37.220
And then God had to destroy them with the flood and that's way then why did Giants exist after the flood?

26:39.060 --> 26:41.060
Can you explain that?

26:41.140 --> 26:42.460
You know

26:42.460 --> 26:45.780
According to the book of Enoch the reason God flood of the world was to destroy the Giants

26:45.780 --> 26:48.300
But yet we find Giants after the flood as noted here

26:49.580 --> 26:53.140
Doesn't make any sense folks. It's a Christian science fiction is what it is

26:53.600 --> 26:58.600
And you know what? I reject the book of Enoch wholeheartedly because it completely contradicts the Bible.

26:58.600 --> 27:02.600
When you put it, when you actually prove all things, hold fast that which is good,

27:02.600 --> 27:07.600
when you compare it to the scriptures, you actually see that they're not compatible one with another.

27:07.600 --> 27:10.200
It's made by apostate Jews.

27:10.500 --> 27:15.780
who just are writing their own thing, they're just putting together these Jewish fables,

27:15.780 --> 27:19.940
they're making up all kinds of stories, it's basically Greek mythology that's written by

27:20.980 --> 27:27.940
Jewish apostates is what it is. So we have here Caleb stepping up to the plate,

27:27.940 --> 27:28.440
14.

27:32.100 --> 27:39.500
14 verse 1 says, and all the congregation lifted up their voice and cried and the people wept that night. So they're crying about this.

27:41.400 --> 27:47.200
I mean good night in the morning. I mean like I know that there's men here, but I'm just thinking you guys are acting like women though.

27:48.100 --> 27:54.600
What happened to the men of these households who are just like hey, we don't need to cry about this. This is not a big deal.

27:55.500 --> 27:58.400
We can overcome it. Caleb's right. Joshua's right.

27:58.400 --> 28:01.200
Moses is right. But more important than that, God is right.

28:02.800 --> 28:07.200
They wept that night and all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron.

28:07.200 --> 28:08.800
The whole congregation said to them,

28:08.800 --> 28:13.900
would God that we had died in the land of Egypt or would God we had died in this wilderness.

28:13.900 --> 28:16.800
What in the world? This is called exaggeration.

28:17.800 --> 28:18.800
Because what are they saying?

28:18.800 --> 28:22.320
Oh, it would have been better for us to just die in the wilderness or just in Egypt instead

28:22.320 --> 28:28.920
of dying at the hands of these Anakins and, you know, these Canaanites or whatever maybe.

28:28.920 --> 28:30.200
It's an exaggeration.

28:30.200 --> 28:34.160
It's like when people, you know, as a Christian, the Christian life gets hard and it's like,

28:34.160 --> 28:35.880
oh, it would have been better if I just stayed in the world.

28:35.880 --> 28:36.200
Really?

28:37.100 --> 28:40.940
You really think it would have been better for you to just stay in the world,

28:40.940 --> 28:46.060
just living a godless life under the wrath of God as an unsafe person?

28:46.060 --> 28:48.860
You really think that would be better for you? You're exaggerating.

28:49.660 --> 28:50.380
You're exaggerating.

28:51.420 --> 28:52.700
Well, I didn't have it as bad.

28:52.700 --> 28:55.980
Now, let me just tell you right now that whatever problems you're going through now,

28:55.980 --> 28:58.940
unsafe people go through outside these walls as well.

28:58.940 --> 29:01.260
Here's the major difference between the two. We have God.

29:02.380 --> 29:03.900
That's the major difference. They don't.

29:04.700 --> 29:08.960
So they're going according to the course of this world, according to the prince of power of the air

29:08.960 --> 29:13.480
They're just suffering, they have no hope in this world outside of Christ

29:13.480 --> 29:17.520
There's no hope, there's no grace, there's no mercy for them

29:17.520 --> 29:20.520
They have no idea what they're doing, they're just paying bills

29:20.520 --> 29:25.220
They're just paying bills to try to just live life, whereas us, we actually have purpose

29:26.000 --> 29:31.360
And you know what, when things go hard for us, when we experience suffering and trial and tribulation,

29:31.360 --> 29:35.040
the Bible says that all things work together for good to them that love God,

29:35.040 --> 29:40.640
to them who are called according to his purpose. So the Bible says, so even when we suffer,

29:40.640 --> 29:43.280
God says, it's okay, I'll take those ingredients and make something good out of it.

29:44.000 --> 29:47.440
Whereas the people in this world, they just suffer. Think about this,

29:47.440 --> 29:49.760
they suffer and if they don't get saved, they die and go to hell.

29:51.300 --> 29:55.300
Your worst day here is still some unsafe person's best day.

29:55.300 --> 29:59.300
Because our worst day here still works together for good.

29:59.300 --> 30:02.300
So it's not worth, oh man, it's just so hard.

30:02.300 --> 30:04.300
Would to God I just stayed in Egypt.

30:04.300 --> 30:07.300
Would to God I just stayed with my girlfriend.

30:07.300 --> 30:09.300
Would to God that I just stayed with my boyfriend.

30:09.300 --> 30:13.300
Would to God that I would still drink and smoke and run with those that do.

30:13.300 --> 30:14.300
It's an exaggeration.

30:14.300 --> 30:16.300
Don't you remember how much you complain when you're in Egypt?

30:17.900 --> 30:20.620
You complain and you ask God to save you.

30:20.620 --> 30:22.620
You ask God to change something in your life.

30:22.620 --> 30:25.100
You ask God to deliver you out of Egypt.

30:25.100 --> 30:28.220
But all of a sudden, you're met with this little challenge

30:28.220 --> 30:30.220
of obeying God and it's just like,

30:30.220 --> 30:31.820
oh, I should have just died in the wilderness.

30:33.020 --> 30:33.900
He says in verse three,

30:33.900 --> 30:36.940
and wherefore hath the Lord brought us into this land?

30:36.940 --> 30:41.260
To fall by the sword that our wives and our children should be a prey,

30:41.260 --> 30:43.180
were it not better for us to return into Egypt.

30:43.180 --> 30:43.820
Who said that?

30:45.400 --> 30:48.000
Who's this guy who's like, God wants to kill our kids?

30:50.500 --> 30:52.100
And they send one to another.

30:52.100 --> 30:54.900
Let us make a captain.

30:54.900 --> 30:57.580
And let us return to Egypt.

30:57.580 --> 31:00.700
So this is what happens when people become overly emotional.

31:00.700 --> 31:02.900
They make hasty decisions.

31:02.900 --> 31:05.540
Irrational, hasty decisions.

31:05.540 --> 31:06.700
Let's just get a captain.

31:06.700 --> 31:07.540
We'll go back to Egypt.

31:07.540 --> 31:09.580
Like, what?

31:09.580 --> 31:11.540
God literally played.

31:11.540 --> 31:12.460
You can't go back to Egypt.

31:12.460 --> 31:13.940
There's nothing left over there.

31:13.940 --> 31:15.940
Remember God destroyed it?

31:15.940 --> 31:17.300
Remember all the plagues and stuff?

31:17.400 --> 31:19.160
You sure you want to go back?

31:19.160 --> 31:21.160
It's going to take a while before they can rebuild that thing.

31:21.160 --> 31:23.480
The cucumbers aren't there right now, bro.

31:23.480 --> 31:25.560
The melons aren't there right now.

31:25.560 --> 31:28.240
You want to go back to an Egypt that no longer exists

31:28.240 --> 31:31.600
at that particular moment.

31:31.600 --> 31:32.560
Oh, let's make a capital.

31:32.560 --> 31:33.800
Let's just return it to Egypt.

31:33.800 --> 31:35.640
Let's just make a hasted decision,

31:35.640 --> 31:37.880
because things are just really hard right now.

31:37.880 --> 31:40.560
No, you need to just go to sleep,

31:40.560 --> 31:44.000
eat those grapes that they brought back, take a nap.

31:44.500 --> 31:50.020
You know, and just chill out, stop hanging out with fearful people, get off of social media,

31:50.660 --> 31:56.100
get off of Instagram, get off of Facebook for a while, go on a social media fast for a little bit

31:56.100 --> 32:01.540
so you're not consuming all types of negative information that's causing your faith to wane in

32:01.540 --> 32:09.060
God and you might feel different about it tomorrow. He says in verse number five, then Moses and Aaron.

32:09.700 --> 32:13.860
fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel

32:13.860 --> 32:18.740
and Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh which were of them that searched the land

32:18.740 --> 32:24.420
rent their clothes. So the guys who actually are level-headed, the ones who actually have faith,

32:24.420 --> 32:31.540
they're devastated by this. Moses and Aaron, Joshua and Caleb, they're absolutely beside

32:31.540 --> 32:34.700
themselves in this regard because they know what this means.

32:35.000 --> 32:41.520
Because the majority of the congregation does not want to go in they know this means this is bad news, okay?

32:42.680 --> 32:45.160
When they're renting their clothes, they're just like no

32:46.360 --> 32:51.500
This is gonna turn out to be very bad for the entire nation for my family

32:51.500 --> 32:53.860
And you know this kind of demonstrates right here right here

32:53.860 --> 32:59.460
We're gonna look in just a bit that sometimes you unfortunately have to suffer the consequences of other people's actions

33:00.100 --> 33:05.100
That happens sometimes. You live in a home where your mom and dad aren't saved, they're not making the best decisions

33:05.100 --> 33:10.160
You live in a home where maybe, you know, your marriage isn't necessarily up to Christian par

33:10.400 --> 33:16.780
You're living in a condition that's not necessarily conducive to spiritual growth. You might end up suffering the consequences of being in that environment

33:17.140 --> 33:19.140
That's just how it is sometimes

33:19.520 --> 33:25.480
But you know what? I don't see Caleb and Joshua just completely usurping the authority in order to fix things

33:25.480 --> 33:27.660
They're just gonna say well, I know the Lord's with me

33:29.000 --> 33:34.760
And you know, unfortunately, Caleb, though he's a man full of faith, the Bible literally says that he

33:34.760 --> 33:43.240
wholly follow the Lord, he went in the wilderness for 40 years to. And that kind of sucks to be one

33:43.240 --> 33:49.160
of the guys who actually was pro going into the land, wanted to serve God, wanted to overcome,

33:49.160 --> 33:53.320
but was hindered by the faithlessness of the rest of the congregation and have to go in the

33:53.320 --> 33:55.320
the wilderness for 40 years?

33:55.900 --> 34:00.660
Mean that that kind of stinks a little bit, but you know what Caleb he went with the flow

34:01.580 --> 34:06.140
Because at the end of the day Caleb understood that he's like one of those in Sardis, right?

34:06.440 --> 34:10.820
He's one of those the few names in Sardis who is not the father's garments

34:10.820 --> 34:14.580
He still has faith in God and he recognizes that God can bless him in any situation

34:15.600 --> 34:18.960
Look at verse 7, and they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying,

34:18.960 --> 34:23.520
the land which we pass through to search it is an exceeding good land.

34:24.240 --> 34:27.680
So, you know, Caleb and them, they're still trying to like reason with these people like,

34:27.680 --> 34:33.120
man, it's such good real estate, it's free, we should just go in there.

34:33.120 --> 34:38.480
And he says this in verse 8, if the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into the land.

34:39.100 --> 34:44.940
Don't worry about the Giants and all the walls and all the challenges if God delights in us

34:45.140 --> 34:47.900
We're gonna be able to overcome it. You shouldn't worry about that

34:49.640 --> 34:53.140
He says and give it us a language flow with milk and honey

34:53.600 --> 35:01.560
Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land, for they are

35:01.560 --> 35:03.040
bred for us.

35:03.040 --> 35:07.080
Their defense is departed from them, and the Lord is with us.

35:07.080 --> 35:08.080
Fear them not."

35:08.080 --> 35:10.440
So, you know, he delivers this great dissertation.

35:10.440 --> 35:14.480
He's just like, man, we're going to eat them up alive.

35:14.480 --> 35:15.640
God's going to delight in us.

35:15.640 --> 35:17.160
He's going to deliver us.

35:17.160 --> 35:19.120
We just got to believe this.

35:19.120 --> 35:20.120
Just do it, right?

35:20.120 --> 35:21.120
the congregation be like...

35:21.600 --> 35:23.840
Yeah, you're right, Caleb.

35:23.840 --> 35:26.520
I'm being a wimp right now, you know, I'm being a wuss.

35:26.520 --> 35:28.160
My wife is just the one who's, you know,

35:28.160 --> 35:30.660
it's really just her, you know.

35:30.660 --> 35:32.120
You would think like someone would actually come

35:32.120 --> 35:34.880
to their senses at this point, right?

35:34.880 --> 35:36.360
But let me give you what happens

35:36.360 --> 35:38.560
when you give people the truth.

35:38.560 --> 35:39.520
It says in verse 10,

35:39.520 --> 35:42.000
put all the congregation, bait, stone them with stones.

35:44.300 --> 35:47.780
They're like, wait here, I think we should kill this guy.

35:47.780 --> 35:49.780
That's what they said.

35:49.780 --> 35:52.020
They're just like, oh, OK, yeah, yeah, yeah.

35:52.020 --> 35:53.100
Sneak him out.

35:53.100 --> 35:55.140
I didn't sneak what you stole from him.

35:55.140 --> 35:57.340
What?

35:57.340 --> 35:58.260
What?

35:58.260 --> 36:01.860
Have I become your enemy because I tell you the truth?

36:01.860 --> 36:03.100
You know what this demonstrates?

36:03.100 --> 36:04.320
This demonstrates that some people just

36:04.320 --> 36:06.540
can't handle the truth.

36:06.540 --> 36:07.500
They can't handle it.

36:07.600 --> 36:13.100
Even when the truth is hey God is for us. We can do it. It's like I don't want to hear

36:13.100 --> 36:17.720
I don't hear I don't hear it. They'd rather just silence you for telling them the truth

36:18.280 --> 36:21.760
And look folks, you know, this is why it's funny when people are like, oh you should have preached like that

36:21.760 --> 36:28.260
All that negative stuff of your pro-death penalty and against sodomites. You're just so mean and everything, you know

36:28.260 --> 36:31.680
That's why people did that to you people bombed your church because of how you preach

36:31.680 --> 36:34.980
They wanted to slow Caleb and he was encouraging them. We talked about

36:36.200 --> 36:37.800
He's like, we can do it guys.

36:37.800 --> 36:40.080
And they're just picking up stones like,

36:40.080 --> 36:41.120
you say another word.

36:43.020 --> 36:43.860
You know why?

36:43.860 --> 36:44.920
Because sometimes people just hate the truth

36:44.920 --> 36:46.960
no matter how it's delivered.

36:46.960 --> 36:48.540
No matter what is stated,

36:48.540 --> 36:51.420
sometimes people just hate the truth.

36:51.420 --> 36:52.480
That's the truth.

36:53.800 --> 36:56.200
And so like, you know,

36:56.200 --> 36:57.700
I'm glad that it overreact.

36:58.800 --> 37:04.560
Bathe them stone them with stones just like you're gonna stone Joshua and Caleb for trying to exhort you

37:04.920 --> 37:08.900
To continue to just go in the land to succeed as a Christian

37:08.900 --> 37:14.180
But this demonstrates how faithless and carnal people have become at this point, you know Christians can be the same way

37:14.880 --> 37:19.900
You can encourage Christians, you know to go Sony stop asking me to go so I'm gonna go

37:21.300 --> 37:26.020
You can encourage Christians to read the Bible, to go to church, stop doing that, I'm just not going to do it.

37:26.020 --> 37:27.860
And you almost become like an enemy to them.

37:30.500 --> 37:40.500
But this simply demonstrates that when it comes to serving God, it's often the minority who's willing to do it, not necessarily the majority.

37:42.600 --> 37:45.480
He says in verse 10, but all the congregation bathed,

37:45.480 --> 37:49.480
stoned them with stones, and the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation

37:49.480 --> 37:53.640
before all the children of Israel. And the Lord said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke

37:53.640 --> 37:58.760
me? And how long will it be ere they believe me for all the signs which I have showed among them?

37:58.760 --> 38:04.040
Now you can relate to this frustration of the Lord, right? He's like, I just destroyed Egypt

38:04.040 --> 38:08.040
for them. Like Red Sea. Anyone remember that?

38:08.700 --> 38:12.460
Ten plagues, hello? And then all of a sudden it's just like, the giants.

38:13.100 --> 38:15.340
It's like, how long are these people going to provoke me like this?

38:16.780 --> 38:21.740
He says in verse 12, this is God's solution, by the way. Okay?

38:22.780 --> 38:27.180
I know, it's a great solution. I will smite them with the pestilence and disinherit them

38:27.180 --> 38:29.580
and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.

38:30.700 --> 38:32.540
That's called replacement theology. Amen.

38:34.200 --> 38:39.000
He's like, I got an idea, why don't I just like wipe out the entire nation and then we'll just start again with you, Moses.

38:39.400 --> 38:42.400
Now Moses is a far greater man than me because I would have been like, let's do it.

38:44.000 --> 38:44.700
That sounds good.

38:46.000 --> 38:50.100
The Lord is able, you know, just start fresh with Moses.

38:50.500 --> 38:56.340
But of course Moses is merciful, he's gracious, and he obviously cares for the reputation

38:56.340 --> 38:58.760
of the Lord before the heathen.

38:58.760 --> 39:03.500
But I just want to show you that if you think, oh no, the Jews are such God-chosen people

39:03.500 --> 39:07.060
and Israel God-chosen, he was willing to replace them even back then.

39:07.060 --> 39:11.380
He was literally willing to just completely wipe them out.

39:11.380 --> 39:15.820
And these are the verses that people, they just kind of avoid a lot of the times.

39:16.200 --> 39:19.760
Especially when they say like, God will never break his promises

39:19.760 --> 39:21.400
Well look at verse 34

39:21.400 --> 39:24.200
Just real quick, just for good measure here

39:24.200 --> 39:28.040
After the number of the days in which you searched the land, even 40 days

39:28.040 --> 39:29.800
Each day for a year

39:29.800 --> 39:32.280
Shall ye bear your iniquities even 40 years

39:32.280 --> 39:35.360
And ye shall know, listen to this, my breach of promise

39:35.360 --> 39:38.800
I'm sorry, come again again? What was that?

39:38.800 --> 39:40.240
What was that?

39:40.240 --> 39:42.240
Like, oh, you know

39:42.700 --> 39:44.020
He'll never break his promises.

39:44.020 --> 39:46.740
It says, you'll know my breach of promise.

39:46.740 --> 39:48.060
That's what he said.

39:48.060 --> 39:50.700
You'll know that I will break my promise to you

39:50.700 --> 39:54.220
because of your, you know, because you broke

39:54.220 --> 39:55.060
your promise towards me.

39:55.060 --> 39:56.300
You broke the contract.

39:57.340 --> 39:59.700
So it's like, oh man, you know, God will never,

39:59.700 --> 40:01.140
well, then you're gonna have to explain to me

40:01.140 --> 40:03.820
what this means, because that's exactly what he did.

40:04.700 --> 40:06.100
But you know, and a lot of people,

40:06.100 --> 40:07.700
that doesn't sit well with them.

40:07.900 --> 40:11.900
But it's because they just didn't pay attention to numbers 14.

40:11.900 --> 40:14.900
They're just kind of reading through the Bible and ignoring that part.

40:15.900 --> 40:16.900
Right?

40:18.900 --> 40:22.900
I mean, that's why it's important that when we read the Bible, we actually like, pay attention to what we're reading.

40:23.900 --> 40:25.900
Because it actually says that there, you'll know my breach of promise.

40:25.900 --> 40:29.900
And who are you to tell God that he can't break his promise to the nation of Israel?

40:30.600 --> 40:36.360
And keep in mind, the reason he's breaching his promise is because of the fact that they breached their end as well.

40:36.360 --> 40:40.840
He did it in response to them breaking their covenant with him.

40:40.840 --> 40:44.320
So it's like, okay, then I'm not obligated to keep my end of the bargain.

40:44.320 --> 40:45.520
Okay?

40:45.520 --> 40:48.920
Now go back a couple verses here.

40:48.920 --> 40:52.160
Skip down to, let's see here.

40:53.500 --> 40:57.900
Verse 13 says, and Moses said unto the Lord, then the Egyptians will hear it for thou broughtest

40:57.900 --> 41:02.860
up this people into it in thy mind from among them and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this

41:02.860 --> 41:08.700
land for they have heard that thou Lord are among this people that thou Lord are seen face to face

41:08.700 --> 41:13.180
and so forth. So what does he say? He's like don't because you know everyone knows about the Lord.

41:13.180 --> 41:17.500
They know what you've done and it's going to tarnish your reputation. So obviously Moses did

41:17.500 --> 41:19.660
this in light of God's reputation.

41:20.100 --> 41:25.180
He's interceding for the nation of Israel because not because he necessarily cares for the nation of Israel though he does

41:25.600 --> 41:27.860
He cares more for the reputation of God

41:28.260 --> 41:31.860
He's like you brought them out then people are gonna start slandering your name

41:32.000 --> 41:37.400
You know just be merciful to them and so forth and of course the Lord ends up forgiving the nation of Israel for this

41:37.400 --> 41:40.340
But here's the thing not without consequence though

41:40.980 --> 41:45.420
So what does he do? He says okay? I forgive you. I won't kill you but

41:45.900 --> 41:48.500
You're going to wander in the wilderness for 40 years.

41:51.500 --> 41:52.500
for 40 years.

41:52.500 --> 42:00.700
And on top of that, everyone who is 20 years old and upward are going to die in the wilderness.

42:00.700 --> 42:02.240
That's the punishment.

42:02.240 --> 42:06.500
So you don't want the promised land, you don't want the blessings of God, you don't want

42:06.500 --> 42:10.020
this wonderful promise that I've given to you, okay, then die in the wilderness is what

42:10.020 --> 42:11.300
he's saying.

42:11.300 --> 42:13.700
And the wilderness wanderings was basically like a huge funeral.

42:13.700 --> 42:15.420
It was a 40 year long funeral.

42:16.400 --> 42:22.640
He kept them in the wilderness wandering in there until they completely died out with the exception

42:22.640 --> 42:27.360
listen to this of Caleb and Joshua because Caleb and Joshua are 40 you know well we know that

42:27.360 --> 42:32.720
Caleb is 40 years old Joshua might be a little younger than that Caleb 40 but they survived why

42:32.720 --> 42:36.480
because they actually have faith in God and this is why Hebrews 3 tells us that they could not

42:36.480 --> 42:41.760
enter in listen to this because of unbelief so here's the here's here's the choice that

42:41.760 --> 42:43.000
You have to make my friends.

42:44.600 --> 42:46.600
You're saved, excellent.

42:47.900 --> 42:49.500
You're saved, that's great.

42:49.500 --> 42:52.200
But God wants you to go into the promised land too.

42:52.200 --> 42:55.000
If you don't want to go, okay, then you'll just die in the wilderness.

42:56.500 --> 42:57.600
You'll just die in the wilderness.

42:58.300 --> 42:59.500
Because you lack faith in God.

43:00.100 --> 43:02.020
then God will just kill you off in the wilderness.

43:02.020 --> 43:02.700
And you know what?

43:02.700 --> 43:06.780
That happens all the time, where people just decide to get out of church,

43:06.780 --> 43:10.820
they stop serving God, they stop exercising their faith in the Lord,

43:10.820 --> 43:13.140
they stop reading the Bible, they stop leading people to Christ.

43:13.140 --> 43:13.820
You know what God says?

43:13.820 --> 43:18.380
Okay, you know, if you don't want to inherit the blessings that I have for you,

43:18.380 --> 43:22.700
the provision, the blessings, the blessing of just raising a family in church.

43:23.000 --> 43:27.160
The blessing of leading people to Christ, the blessing of having a godly marriage.

43:27.160 --> 43:31.160
If you want to just disobey because of your lack of faith, then die in the wilderness.

43:32.040 --> 43:37.320
You won't get that message in Sunday school class. It's not going to happen because it's too harsh.

43:37.320 --> 43:39.000
But you know what? That's the reality, my friends.

43:39.720 --> 43:43.160
If you don't think that's the God of the Bible, then you're missing out on 40 years right here.

43:43.500 --> 43:45.900
Because that's exactly what he did for 40 years.

43:45.900 --> 43:51.200
And I don't even have time to chronicle all of the devastating things that happened throughout those 40 years.

43:52.500 --> 43:57.000
Where God is just punishing them left and right, killing them left and right.

43:57.000 --> 44:01.000
I mean, it's not just like natural occurrences, super natural occurrences.

44:01.300 --> 44:07.100
Serpents biting them, the earth opening up and swallowing the dissenters whole.

44:07.500 --> 44:11.000
Going straight into hell. I mean, there's a lot of crazy stuff that happened in the wilderness.

44:11.700 --> 44:14.740
I think I'd rather just go into the promised land.

44:14.740 --> 44:16.980
I think that's better.

44:16.980 --> 44:19.180
You know, reading that I'm like,

44:19.180 --> 44:21.180
nah, I'll take on the giant.

44:22.700 --> 44:25.140
I don't want to live in the wilderness for 40 years

44:25.140 --> 44:26.420
and just miss out on this.

44:26.420 --> 44:28.500
And here's the funny thing about this, okay?

44:28.500 --> 44:30.980
Because keep in mind, they're afraid, listen to me,

44:30.980 --> 44:32.980
they're afraid of the sons of Anak.

44:32.980 --> 44:35.100
They're afraid of the Canaanites, right?

44:35.100 --> 44:37.700
Like they're like morbidly afraid of them.

44:38.800 --> 44:43.800
What they don't realize, listen to me, what they don't realize is the Canaanites are more scared of them.

44:43.800 --> 44:49.800
So how do you know? Because when they finally, after 40 years, go into Canaan land,

44:49.800 --> 44:52.800
you know, Rahab the harlot was just like, we've heard about you guys.

44:52.800 --> 44:57.800
And our hearts have melted since we heard you come out of Egypt.

44:57.800 --> 45:03.800
So that means literally, for those 80 years, the Canaanites have just been terrified of the children of Israel.

45:03.800 --> 45:05.800
But they're over here scared of them.

45:07.800 --> 45:14.040
And that's a lesson for us to learn that the enemies of the Lord are often more scared of us than we are of them

45:15.400 --> 45:22.760
You can't allow your fear to impede you from serving God because God did not give us a spirit of fear

45:22.800 --> 45:29.160
But a power love and a sound mind and you know what you need to grow in your love because perfect love casts without fear

45:30.200 --> 45:32.600
Grow in your love for the Lord. The love of Christ constrains us.

45:32.600 --> 45:35.400
You know what? Everyone is afraid of serving God at one time or another.

45:35.400 --> 45:40.000
But here's the difference if you decide to obey God despite the fact that you're afraid.

45:40.000 --> 45:42.900
There's people who are afraid and that causes them to disobey God.

45:42.900 --> 45:45.200
There's other people who are afraid and they're like, I'm just going to do it anyways.

45:45.200 --> 45:47.300
I'm going to fight the sons of Anak anyways.

45:47.300 --> 45:49.200
I'm just going to go up the walled cities.

45:49.200 --> 45:51.400
I'm going to fight even though I'm afraid.

45:51.400 --> 45:53.000
And that's what God wants us to do.

45:54.500 --> 46:00.500
So they end up wandering the wilderness, skip down to verse number 22.

46:01.500 --> 46:06.500
It says, because all those men which have seen my glory and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness,

46:06.500 --> 46:15.500
and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice, surely they shall not see the land which I swear unto their fathers,

46:15.500 --> 46:17.500
neither shall any of them that provoked me see it.

46:17.500 --> 46:21.500
Isn't that interesting? That he says here,

46:21.800 --> 46:27.800
that they provoked them ten times and it was ten people who are responsible for causing others to fear, right?

46:28.800 --> 46:29.800
But then he says in verse 24,

46:29.800 --> 46:33.800
But my servant Caleb, because he hath another spirit with him,

46:34.800 --> 46:41.800
and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land wherein he went, and his seed shall possess it.

46:41.800 --> 46:44.800
So he says, Caleb, he's different. He has another spirit.

46:45.700 --> 46:51.700
Now, we can interpret this two ways. He has another spirit like he has the spirit of God, which is 100% true.

46:51.700 --> 46:55.700
But he has another spirit because spirit in the Bible is often used interchangeably with our attitude.

46:56.700 --> 47:02.700
You know, you need both. You need to be filled with the spirit and you need to change your attitude as well.

47:03.700 --> 47:07.700
Safe people can have bad attitudes. Safe people can have carnal attitudes.

47:08.500 --> 47:14.500
Safe people can be feminine, safe people can be feminist, safe people can live carnal lives,

47:14.500 --> 47:16.000
they can have bad ideologies.

47:16.300 --> 47:22.300
And you know what? You're not going to inherit the blessings if you're not like Caleb and have another spirit.

47:22.300 --> 47:25.800
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

47:25.800 --> 47:26.800
That's what the Bible says.

47:26.800 --> 47:30.100
But ye have not so alone in Christ, if so be that ye have heard him and have been taught by him,

47:30.100 --> 47:35.300
as the truth is in Jesus, that ye put off the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust,

47:35.300 --> 47:37.800
and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

47:37.800 --> 47:39.300
That's referring to your attitude.

47:40.100 --> 47:43.900
You're like, man, I have such a hard time, you know, serving the Lord, living the Christian life.

47:43.900 --> 47:45.100
It's because of your attitude though.

47:46.600 --> 47:47.600
You just have a bad attitude.

47:48.400 --> 47:50.200
You have a corrupted attitude. Change your attitude.

47:52.200 --> 47:56.400
Like, I know what the truth is. I believe in the Bible. I believe these things.

47:56.400 --> 47:57.700
Yeah, but it's your attitude though.

47:57.700 --> 48:01.500
And it might be that you're just hanging around people who have bad attitudes towards the things of God,

48:01.500 --> 48:03.700
and it's influencing you to have a bad attitude.

48:04.200 --> 48:06.200
It's influencing you to lack faith.

48:07.000 --> 48:10.200
He that walketh with wise men shall be wise, but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

48:11.320 --> 48:14.600
And so it sounds like you might need to spend a little more time in the Bible.

48:15.400 --> 48:18.200
And if you don't have the discipline, listen to me,

48:18.200 --> 48:22.280
if you don't have the discipline to read the Bible every single day, which you should,

48:22.280 --> 48:26.360
then here's a good way to supplement that temporarily. Just be at every church service.

48:27.560 --> 48:29.880
Because in every church service, we're going to go over like 50 scriptures,

48:30.440 --> 48:32.760
which is more than what you're reading on your own.

48:33.800 --> 48:35.800
And that will help you to renew your mind.

48:37.300 --> 48:39.800
Change your mind. Change your attitude.

48:39.800 --> 48:44.300
Be someone who has a different spirit, who's following God holy,

48:44.300 --> 48:49.800
and you won't fall into the same hands of consequences that others are falling into.

48:49.800 --> 48:53.300
Okay? Now let's go to Joshua 14, if you will. Joshua chapter 14.

48:56.700 --> 48:58.140
So what happens after this?

48:58.140 --> 49:03.340
Well, you know, God is like, you're all going to die.

49:03.340 --> 49:05.260
You're going to die in the wilderness.

49:05.260 --> 49:07.740
And you know that one guy who just turned 20 that day?

49:07.740 --> 49:12.700
He was like, it was like his birthday that day.

49:12.700 --> 49:14.260
He was just like, dang.

49:14.260 --> 49:16.500
He's like, yep, you're going to die.

49:16.500 --> 49:20.020
You will never see the promised land ever again.

49:20.020 --> 49:21.740
You know there are a million people that

49:21.740 --> 49:23.600
had to be someone whose birthday was on that day.

49:26.200 --> 49:31.880
So then, you know, they begin to do, they decide to do what they shouldn't have done,

49:31.880 --> 49:35.240
or what they should have decided to do long ago. They're like, okay, nevermind, we'll go into the

49:35.240 --> 49:41.400
promised land. Nevermind, we're just kidding. We'll go. We'll go into the promised land.

49:41.960 --> 49:47.560
Hey, say no more. We'll go. And then Moses is like, don't go. No, no, no, we're going to go.

49:47.560 --> 49:52.040
He's like, if you go, God's not with you, and you're going to be destroyed. Because guess what?

49:52.840 --> 49:53.880
That ship has sailed.

49:55.400 --> 49:57.400
That train has departed.

49:57.400 --> 50:00.120
The opportunity for you to serve God,

50:00.120 --> 50:01.320
inherit the blessings,

50:01.320 --> 50:04.920
is no longer available to you at this time.

50:04.920 --> 50:07.160
Now you've got to suffer the consequences of your actions.

50:07.160 --> 50:09.560
Oh no, no, no, no, I'll change, I'll change.

50:09.560 --> 50:10.680
We'll go right now, we'll go.

50:10.680 --> 50:12.760
It's just like, all right.

50:12.760 --> 50:13.480
You know what happened?

50:13.480 --> 50:15.880
They went and the Amalekites destroyed them,

50:16.600 --> 50:18.440
killed them, because God wasn't with them.

50:20.280 --> 50:21.640
You know what the principle is there?

50:21.640 --> 50:22.440
Serve God today!

50:25.000 --> 50:27.280
Serve God today.

50:27.280 --> 50:28.880
Don't make excuses.

50:28.880 --> 50:31.600
Don't allow your fear to cause you,

50:31.600 --> 50:33.600
to provoke you to disobey God.

50:33.600 --> 50:37.600
Because you're gonna have what's called regret later on.

50:37.600 --> 50:38.960
And regret is just like, you know what?

50:38.960 --> 50:40.680
I changed my mind, I'm gonna serve God.

50:40.680 --> 50:41.680
Okay, you could try.

50:42.920 --> 50:44.840
But we don't know if that ship has sailed for you.

50:44.840 --> 50:45.680
Just don't know.

50:46.680 --> 50:47.720
You don't know if those opportunities

50:47.720 --> 50:49.360
are still available to you.

50:49.360 --> 50:51.240
Again, salvation is always there.

50:51.800 --> 50:53.160
Never lose it. Amen.

50:55.500 --> 50:57.900
But certain opportunities have gone.

50:57.900 --> 51:00.700
You know, think of Saul who disobeyed God beyond recognition

51:00.700 --> 51:03.200
to the point where he said that the kingdom of God

51:03.200 --> 51:05.100
shall be taken from you and given to someone

51:05.100 --> 51:07.700
who's better than you.

51:07.700 --> 51:09.700
Who wants to hear that?

51:09.700 --> 51:13.100
I'm going to give it to someone who's better than you,

51:13.100 --> 51:17.000
someone who's of a higher quality than you.

51:17.000 --> 51:17.700
And you know what?

51:17.700 --> 51:20.200
He could have done everything humanly possible

51:20.200 --> 51:22.200
to retain his title as the king.

51:22.200 --> 51:23.300
It's not going to happen.

51:24.600 --> 51:26.600
because he crossed the line

51:28.000 --> 51:30.880
and so they crossed the line, they ended up going into Canaan land

51:30.880 --> 51:33.600
you know, the Amalekites smote them

51:33.600 --> 51:36.240
disconfitted them, destroyed them

51:36.240 --> 51:37.920
and that was the end of that

51:37.920 --> 51:40.640
so you're in Joshua chapter 14, let me go there real quick

51:40.640 --> 51:42.280
Joshua chapter 14

51:42.900 --> 51:46.140
So at this point, you know, they've gone through the 40 years of wilderness.

51:46.140 --> 51:48.820
So we have Caleb, who's the spy.

51:48.820 --> 51:52.020
He is, has wholly gone after the Lord.

51:52.020 --> 51:53.740
He's filled with the Spirit.

51:53.740 --> 51:59.420
He's considered a dissenter by the ten, but he is a man of faith.

51:59.420 --> 52:03.820
He believes in the Lord, and unfortunately, he's suffering the consequences of his nation.

52:03.820 --> 52:07.700
You know, you and I were going to suffer the consequences of this nation too.

52:07.700 --> 52:08.380
Right.

52:08.380 --> 52:09.580
That's how it is.

52:09.800 --> 52:12.800
We make bad decisions, we get to suffer the consequences because of it.

52:12.800 --> 52:15.800
So you better make sure you're just following the Lord, amen?

52:15.800 --> 52:17.800
Better make sure you're wholly following the Lord.

52:17.800 --> 52:19.800
Better make sure you're of another spirit.

52:19.800 --> 52:20.800
You better make sure you serve.

52:20.800 --> 52:23.800
Now's the best time to start serving God.

52:23.800 --> 52:27.800
Because you just don't know what's going to happen.

52:27.800 --> 52:29.800
So he wanders for 40 years.

52:29.800 --> 52:31.800
God, you know, protects him.

52:31.800 --> 52:34.800
And now he's like 85 years old.

52:34.800 --> 52:35.800
Okay?

52:36.400 --> 52:39.680
He's beyond Unc at this point.

52:39.680 --> 52:44.000
He was an Unc at 40, but now he, what's after Unc?

52:44.000 --> 52:45.560
Some of you, what is?

52:45.560 --> 52:46.400
Oh, Gramps.

52:46.400 --> 52:48.240
What, Gramps?

52:48.240 --> 52:51.560
Yeah, he's a Gramps, apparently.

52:51.560 --> 52:55.880
So he's really old, and now they get to go into the land.

52:57.000 --> 53:03.320
So now they're inheriting the land and now Joshua is going to distribute the different

53:03.320 --> 53:07.160
plots, the different possessions of the land to the various tribes.

53:07.160 --> 53:08.160
And you know what?

53:08.160 --> 53:13.720
Caleb, he's 85 but he's not like, no that time has passed for me.

53:13.720 --> 53:18.360
You know, those were the glory days from back in the day.

53:18.360 --> 53:20.360
Now skip down to verse number 6.

53:21.500 --> 53:25.780
Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua and Gilgal and Caleb the son of Jephunneh

53:25.780 --> 53:30.500
the Kenazite, said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the Lord said unto Moses, the

53:30.500 --> 53:33.500
man of God, concerning me and thee in Kadesh Barnea.

53:33.500 --> 53:38.940
So he's like, hey, I didn't forget what happened 40 years ago.

53:38.940 --> 53:40.300
You remember what God said?

53:40.300 --> 53:41.300
All right?

53:41.300 --> 53:41.620
I'm forgotten.

53:42.600 --> 53:47.160
He says in verse 7, 40 years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from

53:47.160 --> 53:53.400
Kadeshbarnea to spy out the land and I brought him word again as it was in my heart. Nevertheless,

53:53.400 --> 54:00.760
my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the Lord

54:00.760 --> 54:05.480
my God. This is a patient man. As I just want to remind you, I wasn't one of those guys.

54:06.700 --> 54:11.500
I follow the Lord, I obey the commandments, I was there to give a good report.

54:12.600 --> 54:23.600
God was with me, verse 9, and Moses swear on that day, saying, surely the land wherein thou feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance and thy children's forever, because thou is holy, follow the Lord my God.

54:23.600 --> 54:35.600
And now behold, the Lord hath kept me alive. As he said these forty and five years, ever since the Lord spake this word into Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness, and now lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

54:35.600 --> 54:40.100
So what does this show us? It shows us that Caleb,

54:40.600 --> 54:42.680
is a very patient man.

54:44.000 --> 54:46.640
Because the promise was given 40 years ago.

54:46.640 --> 54:48.320
He didn't quit.

54:48.320 --> 54:49.700
He wasn't like, you know what,

54:49.700 --> 54:51.320
he probably forgot about this.

54:52.400 --> 54:53.760
I don't even want to do this anymore.

54:53.760 --> 54:55.240
No, he waited to the very end.

54:55.240 --> 54:56.660
And let me say this, folks,

54:56.660 --> 54:59.860
there's certain promises that God gives us,

54:59.860 --> 55:01.600
and you're all frustrated

55:01.600 --> 55:04.080
because you haven't gotten that fulfillment

55:04.080 --> 55:05.500
a week after you prayed for it.

55:07.100 --> 55:09.060
Okay, take that away from her.

55:09.060 --> 55:10.780
This is my daughter, by the way.

55:10.780 --> 55:12.420
You know, you're all frustrated

55:12.420 --> 55:14.060
because it hasn't happened in a month.

55:14.060 --> 55:15.220
Try 40 years.

55:16.340 --> 55:17.420
Try 45 years.

55:19.020 --> 55:21.660
And it's not like Gramps, you know,

55:21.660 --> 55:24.060
which Caleb, he's a Chad more than anything else, okay?

55:24.060 --> 55:25.700
You're gonna see right now that he is a Chad.

55:25.700 --> 55:26.960
You know, he's not like,

55:28.220 --> 55:31.660
what was that one thing that Moses said I can have?

55:33.460 --> 55:34.780
He's like, hey.

55:35.000 --> 55:37.000
I got the receipts right here.

55:40.600 --> 55:44.600
and just like read it out to him, he has not forgotten.

55:44.600 --> 55:46.400
That's a man of great endurance.

55:49.200 --> 55:51.200
You need to endure.

55:51.200 --> 55:55.200
Oh man, my marriage hasn't been, you know, it's just not what it needs to be.

55:55.200 --> 55:57.200
How long you willing to wait?

55:57.200 --> 55:59.200
Yeah, but you don't know how tough it's been.

55:59.200 --> 56:01.200
Has it been like a wilderness though?

56:03.200 --> 56:05.200
You think you went through the same thing that Caleb went through in the wilderness?

56:05.200 --> 56:09.200
You think, have you seen tons of people die around you?

56:10.500 --> 56:18.420
rebelliousness have you experienced the 45 the 40 years of just wandering the wilderness just just being a complete nomad

56:18.940 --> 56:23.640
Seeing people die left and right and still have this attitude like oh no

56:23.640 --> 56:28.580
I still believe that God's gonna fulfill his promise. You know why cuz what God has promised he's able also to perform

56:29.460 --> 56:31.460
He's fully persuaded

56:31.740 --> 56:33.740
He's a man of great faith

56:33.740 --> 56:35.740
This is why I believe Caleb's awesome

56:36.800 --> 56:41.520
Because 40 years afterwards, he's still talking about this as though it was like four days ago.

56:43.280 --> 56:46.320
This means that he doesn't care how much time has passed.

56:46.320 --> 56:50.560
He has faith that God will fulfill his promise even though he's 85 years old.

56:51.840 --> 56:54.800
Can I challenge you? Just, can you have a little bit of endurance?

56:55.500 --> 57:09.000
Can you have some endurance, have some persistence about yourself, and not quit on your marriage, and not quit on your husband, not quit on your wife, not quit on your children, not quit on church, not quit on this, that, and the other.

57:09.000 --> 57:11.000
You know, why don't you wait a while?

57:12.500 --> 57:18.500
And look, you know, Caleb was an awesome guy 40 years ago, but I'm telling you right now, he's even more awesome now, though.

57:20.500 --> 57:22.000
Because all things work together for good.

57:22.600 --> 57:25.600
So he just came out of the wilderness just that much better.

57:28.200 --> 57:31.160
He's like, I'm 85 years old. Look at verse 11.

57:31.800 --> 57:36.280
As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me.

57:37.400 --> 57:39.320
He's like, I'm still built.

57:41.320 --> 57:46.120
I can still deadlift. I can still do my squat. I'm still strong.

57:48.800 --> 57:51.840
Now you're going to see why this is significant in just a bit, okay?

57:53.520 --> 57:57.440
But you know you think, oh man you're 85, you got to be careful, you know, you might break your hip.

57:58.560 --> 58:01.600
Caleb's not breaking anything. He's still ready to go to war.

58:03.040 --> 58:08.720
Look what it says, he says, he says, as my strength was then, even so is my strength now.

58:10.320 --> 58:15.120
To get out of bed, to get off the toilet, to you know, no he's like, for war!

58:15.700 --> 58:17.700
Both to go out to come in

58:18.500 --> 58:21.860
So he's telling Josh is like I just want to let you know I'm gonna inherit this land

58:21.860 --> 58:27.640
God promised it to me, and I'm still strong, and I'm not saying strong as in I'm gonna encourage. I'm talking about strongly. I'm ready to fight

58:28.820 --> 58:34.000
I'm ready to throw down. I'm ready to conquer land. This is 85 years of age here

58:35.600 --> 58:40.780
Verse 12 now therefore give me this mountain

58:41.300 --> 58:45.460
Now, I love that statement, it's a very base statement.

58:45.460 --> 58:47.340
It's awesome to hear him say that.

58:47.340 --> 58:49.660
But when you actually understand the ramifications of this,

58:49.660 --> 58:53.820
he's actually asking for the most difficult territory.

58:53.820 --> 58:56.340
So it's not like, yeah, I could go to war,

58:56.340 --> 58:58.840
just give me that little place right there,

58:58.840 --> 58:59.680
you know what I mean?

58:59.680 --> 59:01.140
All the nice little fruit there.

59:01.140 --> 59:03.740
He's like, just give me the hardest part.

59:03.740 --> 59:07.500
Give me the mountain where all the giants are.

59:07.800 --> 59:10.400
Give me the challenge and I'll take it on.

59:11.600 --> 59:12.300
That's awesome.

59:13.100 --> 59:15.700
Give me this mountain whereof the Lord spake in that day

59:15.900 --> 59:19.100
from thou heardest in that day how the anachems were there

59:19.200 --> 59:21.100
and that the cities were great in fence.

59:21.200 --> 59:22.900
If so be that the Lord be with me,

59:23.000 --> 59:26.100
then I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.

59:26.100 --> 59:27.800
Talk about courage.

59:28.100 --> 59:30.900
He's, I'll take that mountain and I'll take those giants.

59:30.900 --> 59:34.500
And I'll take the fence cities and the walls and everything that's there.

59:34.500 --> 59:37.140
If the Lord's with me, I'll do it. I'll take care of it.

59:37.140 --> 59:38.980
I'll take the most difficult aspect of that land.

59:40.900 --> 59:43.860
He's kind of showing up to young guys, right?

59:45.140 --> 59:46.340
Because no one else asked for it.

59:48.400 --> 59:54.500
Joshua blessed him and gave him to Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance

59:54.500 --> 59:58.640
So why is that significant? Well earlier if you remember Hebron is a place of antiquity

59:59.280 --> 01:00:04.800
So he already knew since then that it was a very difficult area to overcome that it had giants

01:00:04.800 --> 01:00:07.580
But you know what he was willing to take it then and he's willing to take it now

01:00:07.580 --> 01:00:12.560
You know what this demonstrates to me just because you're old doesn't mean you can't serve God and you can't fight. Oh

01:00:13.840 --> 01:00:15.800
I'm so old

01:00:16.000 --> 01:00:18.000
Like Caleb old?

01:00:18.000 --> 01:00:20.000
Because he's 85.

01:00:20.000 --> 01:00:22.000
Okay?

01:00:22.000 --> 01:00:24.000
And you know, there's some

01:00:24.000 --> 01:00:26.000
brethren in the church that are

01:00:26.000 --> 01:00:28.000
of age.

01:00:28.000 --> 01:00:30.000
But they can run

01:00:30.000 --> 01:00:32.000
circles around some of the young guys though.

01:00:32.000 --> 01:00:34.000
Physically in a lot of ways actually.

01:00:35.200 --> 01:00:44.200
I mean, they can lift more than them, they can cover 500 miles or something like that,

01:00:44.200 --> 01:00:48.200
or they got a strong heart, you know?

01:00:48.200 --> 01:00:53.200
But let me say this, more than physical strength, it's like emotional and mental strength too.

01:00:53.200 --> 01:00:58.000
Sometimes the young guys can be a little soft.

01:01:01.100 --> 01:01:01.940
Soft.

01:01:02.840 --> 01:01:04.700
Just like emotionally soft.

01:01:04.700 --> 01:01:07.860
You know, they lack discipline and character

01:01:07.860 --> 01:01:12.860
and the priorities of life, right?

01:01:13.100 --> 01:01:15.860
We need like to raise up Caleb's

01:01:15.860 --> 01:01:18.360
who says like, I'll take the hardest thing.

01:01:18.360 --> 01:01:19.680
You know, and maybe for the young guys

01:01:19.680 --> 01:01:21.400
that the mountain that you have to try to overcome

01:01:21.400 --> 01:01:23.400
is like getting a woman, you know what I mean?

01:01:24.480 --> 01:01:26.900
I'll take that mountain, you know.

01:01:27.200 --> 01:01:29.200
Instead of asking for like the hill or something like that

01:01:29.960 --> 01:01:32.360
you know, but it's important for us to

01:01:33.080 --> 01:01:35.320
glean courage from Caleb and

01:01:35.840 --> 01:01:38.920
Recognize just because you're older doesn't mean you can't serve God

01:01:39.120 --> 01:01:44.640
Don't let the younger people run circles around you you got to be like Caleb and say I'm gonna win souls to Christ

01:01:45.400 --> 01:01:48.600
I'm going to fight off the wiles of Satan.

01:01:48.600 --> 01:01:53.320
I'm going to serve God and be in church and go soul winning and read my Bible

01:01:53.320 --> 01:01:57.720
and memorize and meditate scripture. Oh, my mind is not as sharp as it used to be.

01:01:57.720 --> 01:02:00.120
Then memorize scripture and make it sharp then.

01:02:03.300 --> 01:02:08.500
So Joshua blessed him. He took Hebron. Go to chapter 17 if you would. Chapter 17.

01:02:10.800 --> 01:02:14.000
You say, well, did he end up taking Hebron?

01:02:14.000 --> 01:02:16.800
Yeah, he actually whooped them all.

01:02:16.800 --> 01:02:18.200
He took out all the giants and everything.

01:02:18.200 --> 01:02:20.100
Chapter 15 highlights it.

01:02:20.100 --> 01:02:21.300
Just like nothing.

01:02:21.300 --> 01:02:25.100
He just went in there and just wiped them out.

01:02:25.100 --> 01:02:30.400
So now let's see the contrast here, OK?

01:02:30.400 --> 01:02:32.800
Because Joshua mainly has to do with the distribution

01:02:32.800 --> 01:02:34.700
of the lamb.

01:02:34.700 --> 01:02:37.400
Look down at verse number, let's see here.

01:02:41.300 --> 01:02:49.800
Skipped on to verse 12, it says, yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities, but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

01:02:49.800 --> 01:02:55.000
So keep in mind that even though many of the tribes succeeded at conquering their land, there's some that just didn't.

01:02:55.000 --> 01:02:59.400
They weren't good at it. They couldn't drive out the Canaanites. They would end up putting them under tribute.

01:02:59.400 --> 01:03:08.500
Verse 13, yet it came to pass when the children of Israel were waxing strong that they put the Canaanites to tribute, but did not utterly drive them out.

01:03:09.300 --> 01:03:12.820
So keep in mind, God said, hey, when you go into the land, wipe out the Canaanites.

01:03:12.820 --> 01:03:16.500
They're not to exist. You need to remove them from the land. Well, these guys are so weak.

01:03:16.500 --> 01:03:20.500
They're just like, well, we can't really take them over. So let's just let them live here and

01:03:20.500 --> 01:03:27.220
we'll just tax them. Verse 15, and Joshua answered them, if thou be a great people.

01:03:27.600 --> 01:03:33.380
then get thee up to the wood country and cut down for thyself in the land of the parasites and of the giants,

01:03:33.380 --> 01:03:36.040
if Mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.

01:03:36.040 --> 01:03:39.120
And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us,

01:03:39.120 --> 01:03:43.420
and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron,

01:03:43.420 --> 01:03:48.120
both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

01:03:48.120 --> 01:03:50.320
What do we see here? We see them just making excuses.

01:03:51.200 --> 01:03:52.720
Like, well, this is just too hard.

01:03:52.720 --> 01:03:55.600
They have an air, you know, chariots of iron.

01:03:55.600 --> 01:03:56.800
They're giants.

01:03:56.800 --> 01:04:01.200
It's really hard to read my Bible every day.

01:04:01.200 --> 01:04:04.300
It's really hard to go to church and wake up in the morning

01:04:04.300 --> 01:04:06.920
because I've just been gaming all night.

01:04:06.920 --> 01:04:08.600
You know how hard it is when you're gaming to 4 o'clock

01:04:08.600 --> 01:04:11.280
in the morning and have to be at church at 10 30?

01:04:11.280 --> 01:04:13.760
It's just so difficult and hard.

01:04:13.760 --> 01:04:16.800
And it's just like, well, you want more land.

01:04:17.300 --> 01:04:19.300
You're asking for more land.

01:04:19.300 --> 01:04:21.300
You say that you're a great people.

01:04:21.300 --> 01:04:22.600
Go handle business.

01:04:24.300 --> 01:04:28.700
He says in verse number 16, the children of Joseph said, the hill is not enough for us.

01:04:28.700 --> 01:04:32.700
Oh, skip down verse 17, excuse me. And Joshua speaking to the house of Joseph, even to eat for

01:04:32.700 --> 01:04:37.740
him into menace, he's saying, thou art a great people and has great power. Thou shalt not have

01:04:37.740 --> 01:04:44.700
only one lot or one lot only, but the mountain shall be thine, for it is a wood and thou shall

01:04:44.700 --> 01:04:49.500
cut it down and the outgoings of it shall be thine, for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites,

01:04:49.500 --> 01:04:52.140
though they have iron chariots and though they be strong.

01:04:52.300 --> 01:04:58.300
So we have here the Ephraim and Manasseh making excuses why they can't overcome the Lamb.

01:04:58.300 --> 01:05:03.300
You know what this demonstrates to me is that people can often be full of excuses.

01:05:03.300 --> 01:05:09.300
But what's interesting is that people can come up with a lot of excuses why not to serve God,

01:05:09.300 --> 01:05:14.300
even though there's equally the amount of excuses why we could serve God.

01:05:14.300 --> 01:05:19.300
Oh, you don't understand my situation. Yeah, but look at all these excuses right here though.

01:05:20.800 --> 01:05:24.300
You don't understand you know my marriage right here

01:05:25.000 --> 01:05:28.880
Here's all the solution. You don't understand how I grew up right here

01:05:30.460 --> 01:05:33.600
We can come up with excuses all day long why not to serve God

01:05:34.660 --> 01:05:38.660
Some people are just like oh, there's a line in the street a line is without

01:05:39.700 --> 01:05:41.700
Yeah, but we have the line of the tribe of Judah

01:05:43.600 --> 01:05:47.200
Take a shotgun and shoot that thing in it hunt it down

01:05:48.300 --> 01:05:50.180
Oh, you just don't understand.

01:05:50.180 --> 01:05:50.780
Yeah, you're right.

01:05:50.780 --> 01:05:54.700
I don't understand why you have so many excuses why not to serve God.

01:05:54.700 --> 01:05:56.660
I don't get that.

01:05:56.660 --> 01:05:57.460
Because you know what?

01:05:57.460 --> 01:06:02.540
When God calls us to serve Him, He gives us the capabilities to do so.

01:06:02.540 --> 01:06:05.780
He enables us to do so as well.

01:06:05.780 --> 01:06:06.340
And you know what?

01:06:06.340 --> 01:06:11.580
When you look at the contrasting examples of Ephraim, Manasseh compared to Caleb,

01:06:11.580 --> 01:06:13.260
Caleb had no excuses.

01:06:13.260 --> 01:06:14.140
And you know what?

01:06:14.140 --> 01:06:15.380
If anybody could complain.

01:06:15.900 --> 01:06:17.900
It would be Caleb.

01:06:17.900 --> 01:06:21.460
We'd be like, thanks a lot, Ephraim.

01:06:21.460 --> 01:06:25.380
Because of you guys, I wasted 45 years of my life

01:06:25.380 --> 01:06:27.580
that I could have been just enjoying my wells

01:06:27.580 --> 01:06:30.180
and my cities that are built and my grapes

01:06:30.180 --> 01:06:31.460
and my pomegranates.

01:06:31.460 --> 01:06:35.580
But because you're a weenie, I had to wander in the wilderness

01:06:35.580 --> 01:06:38.220
and see all the 20-year-olds and up die.

01:06:38.220 --> 01:06:39.600
But you know, he didn't complain.

01:06:40.800 --> 01:06:44.800
He just went through the wilderness, served God, just did what he was told.

01:06:44.800 --> 01:06:47.600
When he came into the land, he's like, all right, let's get down to business.

01:06:47.600 --> 01:06:52.400
I want the hardest territory. I don't care if I'm 85 years old. I'm still strong.

01:06:52.400 --> 01:06:56.640
I can go out to war. I'm willing to fight the Lord's battle. He went in it, took it over,

01:06:56.640 --> 01:06:59.840
inherited it. And then he ended up encouraging the next generation.

01:07:00.300 --> 01:07:06.100
Because then his son-in-law, he's just like, whoever takes over this part right here, I'll give them this particular area.

01:07:06.100 --> 01:07:13.100
If you're able to overcome these people, Othniel went, he ended up destroying them, and he ended up becoming the first judge of the nation of Islam.

01:07:14.500 --> 01:07:15.700
Great lineage there.

01:07:16.300 --> 01:07:19.700
What's the point? The point is, you know, Caleb...

01:07:19.900 --> 01:07:24.460
is a great example to us as Christians of what kind of perspective and attitude we should have

01:07:24.460 --> 01:07:31.260
and never use our age, how many people are on our side, how many people are serving God as an excuse

01:07:31.260 --> 01:07:37.900
why not to serve God. You know what I sympathize with your trials, I sympathize with your tribulation

01:07:38.780 --> 01:07:42.940
to the point where you use that as an excuse not to serve the Lord and obey him.

01:07:43.660 --> 01:07:45.580
At that point I no longer sympathize with it.

01:07:47.600 --> 01:07:50.560
I sympathize with people who go through trials and tribulations and keep serving God

01:07:51.360 --> 01:07:53.360
Because I know that's hard

01:07:53.680 --> 01:07:58.800
I sympathize with people who go through trials and tribulations and they still obey the lord and stay in the biblical order

01:07:58.960 --> 01:08:00.720
I sympathize with that

01:08:00.720 --> 01:08:04.080
Because i'm like, I know this is hard for this person. It's easy for the other person who just quits

01:08:05.520 --> 01:08:08.560
Quits on their marriage quits on their kids quits in church

01:08:08.640 --> 01:08:11.280
You know, that's not you're gonna die in the wilderness at that point

01:08:11.440 --> 01:08:14.100
And you know what? No one really cares about the people who died in the wilderness

01:08:15.600 --> 01:08:18.600
No one preaches a good sermon about people who died in the wilderness.

01:08:18.600 --> 01:08:23.100
There's no good eulogies about the people in the wilderness.

01:08:23.100 --> 01:08:26.700
They were just wiped out. You know who we do hear about?

01:08:26.700 --> 01:08:30.400
Joshua and Caleb. Caleb who actually took the mountain,

01:08:30.400 --> 01:08:35.000
he overcame it, and became a hero of the faith. You know as we go into our tenth

01:08:35.000 --> 01:08:39.300
year, let's be like Caleb. And we're a young church still.

01:08:39.300 --> 01:08:40.300
Amen?

01:08:41.400 --> 01:08:44.680
You know, we're a young church and you know,

01:08:44.680 --> 01:08:46.800
to this point, this year alone,

01:08:46.800 --> 01:08:49.680
we have over 7,000 salvations,

01:08:49.680 --> 01:08:51.680
which is more than we've ever had any year.

01:08:51.680 --> 01:08:53.400
And we're not done yet.

01:08:53.400 --> 01:08:56.200
Like the bulletin says Project 12K.

01:08:57.400 --> 01:09:00.560
Okay, how are we gonna hit all those?

01:09:00.560 --> 01:09:02.840
Oh, you're being a little Ephraim, is that what you're doing?

01:09:02.840 --> 01:09:04.920
You're gonna be a little Manasseh?

01:09:04.920 --> 01:09:06.960
I just don't think we can hit 12K.

01:09:06.960 --> 01:09:09.000
All right, then die in the wilderness then.

01:09:09.800 --> 01:09:11.560
You know what we as a church need to be like?

01:09:11.560 --> 01:09:12.560
I'll take that mountain.

01:09:12.560 --> 01:09:13.060
Amen.

01:09:13.060 --> 01:09:13.560
Amen.

01:09:13.560 --> 01:09:14.360
Amen.

01:09:14.360 --> 01:09:17.160
You know, if you hear a crazy goal in our church,

01:09:17.160 --> 01:09:20.720
don't be like the 10, oh, this is so hard.

01:09:20.720 --> 01:09:22.720
I don't think we're going to be able to do this.

01:09:22.720 --> 01:09:23.320
Then stay home.

01:09:23.320 --> 01:09:25.280
Sleep in.

01:09:25.280 --> 01:09:27.240
Watch Sunday morning cartoons.

01:09:27.240 --> 01:09:30.160
That's not even a thing anymore.

01:09:30.160 --> 01:09:30.920
You know what we need?

01:09:30.920 --> 01:09:33.200
We need more Joshuels and Caleb's and say, yeah, no,

01:09:33.200 --> 01:09:34.160
we can do that.

01:09:34.160 --> 01:09:35.120
12K, let's do it.

01:09:35.400 --> 01:09:37.400
Now don't go overboard and be like, 12k that's it?

01:09:37.400 --> 01:09:40.400
You know?

01:09:40.400 --> 01:09:43.400
Okay, if you want to add another thousand to that, be my guest, amen?

01:09:43.400 --> 01:09:48.400
But when you hear about goals and things that we want to do as a church,

01:09:48.400 --> 01:09:52.400
don't be like the tenants and say, oh yeah, that's too hard though.

01:09:52.400 --> 01:09:55.400
I don't think we're going to be able to do that.

01:09:55.400 --> 01:09:57.400
Zip it.

01:09:57.400 --> 01:10:01.400
Just don't say anything because you're going to discourage everyone else from actually obeying the Lord.

01:10:02.300 --> 01:10:07.420
Getting people saved and serving God don't be the negative person in our church

01:10:07.460 --> 01:10:11.560
They're just murmuring and complaining and saying I just don't know how this is gonna

01:10:11.560 --> 01:10:16.440
This is gonna come if you don't know then be quiet and just allow other people to instill faith in you

01:10:17.000 --> 01:10:21.180
By their actions, amen be a Caleb. Don't be like the ten. Let's pray father

01:10:21.180 --> 01:10:25.620
We thank you so much for a wonderful nine years. And as we go into our tenth year

01:10:26.600 --> 01:10:30.780
Pray that we'd be as Caleb Lord that we would still be strong in the Lord and the power of his might

01:10:30.780 --> 01:10:36.240
We're ready to go to war ready to go in and come out and we're willing to take the hardest of territories

01:10:37.120 --> 01:10:42.240
To build up the kingdom of God and I pray that you bless us. Thank you so much for a great great nine years

01:10:42.680 --> 01:10:48.520
Bless this coming year Lord and thank you so much for all the the seven thousand salvations that we have seen in many

01:10:48.760 --> 01:10:53.920
Baptisms as well and people who have been integrated into the church been taught how to sown in the disciples
