And who knows what that great 00:34:21.150 --> 00:34:26.420 multitude could be? Could that be a hundred? Could that be thousands of people, maybe? Who knows? 00:34:26.420 --> 00:34:32.080 But the Bible says that every single year at a certain season, so is this once a year? Is it a 00:34:32.080 --> 00:34:35.990 couple times a year? Again, not exactly sure, but it just seems like it's not something that's 00:34:35.990 --> 00:34:41.090 happening every day. There's this certain season where the angel comes down and troubles the water, 00:34:41.090 --> 00:34:46.750 and of all these great multitude that are there, whoever comes in first to the water is all of a 00:34:46.750 --> 00:34:51.990 sudden made whole of whatsoever disease that they have. That sounds like a pretty great deal. 00:34:51.990 --> 00:34:55.480 You know, it sounds like if there was all these, you know, people, these faith healers today that 00:34:55.480 --> 00:34:59.460 claim that they could heal people's diseases. You know what you would find? Great multitudes 00:34:59.460 --> 00:35:04.230 of people flocking to them trying to get healed. But the Bible says here that there was 00:35:04.230 --> 00:35:15.050 a certain man who had had an infirmity for 38 years. This man for 38 years wanted to be healed, 00:35:15.050 --> 00:35:20.450 but or did not get healed, I should say, because every time he tried to go down into the pool, 00:35:20.450 --> 00:35:24.750 someone was quicker than him and got in. You can only imagine the frustration of that. 00:35:24.750 --> 00:35:30.510 And Jesus sees this man who, the Bible says, had this issue for 38 years. I'm not going to 00:35:30.510 --> 00:35:33.730 ask for a raise of hands this morning. That's, you know, longer than most people in this room 00:35:33.730 --> 00:35:40.410 probably have been alive, 30 years of infirmity. And yet Jesus walks up to him and he asks this 00:35:40.410 --> 00:35:47.330 really interesting question in verse number six. When Jesus saw him lie and knew that he had been 00:35:47.330 --> 00:35:53.070 now a long time in that case, he sayeth unto him, "Wilt thou be made whole?" The title of my sermon 00:35:53.070 --> 00:36:00.230 is "Wilt thou be made whole?" When I was a teenager and I started reading through for the first time, 00:36:00.230 --> 00:36:04.980 I came to this part of the Bible in John chapter number five and I read this question and my first 00:36:04.980 --> 00:36:09.820 thought was, you know, who would not want to be made whole? You know, doesn't everyone in this 00:36:09.820 --> 00:36:15.480 world want to be made whole? But you know what? Jesus is not asking a vain, meaningless, pointless 00:36:15.480 --> 00:36:20.970 question here. Jesus is not just filling some words on our page here. The reason Jesus Christ 00:36:20.970 --> 00:36:27.190 asks this question, it reveals a crazy truth about human nature to us in this question, 00:36:27.190 --> 00:36:32.210 and that is that not everyone wants to be made whole. Otherwise, why would Jesus even ask this 00:36:32.210 --> 00:36:37.640 question? Jesus, everything that he says has a purpose. And so the fact that Jesus Christ 00:36:37.640 --> 00:36:44.310 asked this question to this man who has not been healed goes to show that not everyone wants to be 00:36:44.310 --> 00:36:50.070 made whole. This morning, I want to give you three statements from this question of will thou be made 00:36:50.070 --> 00:36:59.940 whole. Go to Revelation, Revelation 22. You need a will to get saved. You need to have a will to get 00:36:59.940 --> 00:37:04.840 saved. And you know why a lot of people in this world do not get saved? Is because they do not 00:37:04.840 --> 00:37:10.970 want to be made whole. And we as believers in Christ, we see people in this world that are not 00:37:10.970 --> 00:37:16.720 saved, and we do not understand why you would not want to be made whole. But you know what? 00:37:16.720 --> 00:37:20.770 Questions like this in the Bible remind me that, wow, there are some people in this world that do 00:37:20.770 --> 00:37:25.700 not want to be made whole. Now look, it does not take very many years in the ministry. It does not 00:37:25.700 --> 00:37:30.900 take very many times going out soul-winning for you to learn this lesson firsthand. That there are 00:37:30.900 --> 00:37:35.980 people that just do not want to be made whole. They do not want the truth. They do not want to 00:37:35.980 --> 00:37:41.090 get out of their position of being weak and infirm and impotent. They just don't care, and that's crazy 00:37:41.090 --> 00:37:47.690 to me. Look what the Bible says in Revelation 22 verse 17. It says this, "And the Spirit and the 00:37:47.690 --> 00:37:56.350 bride say come, and let him that heareth say come, and let him that is a thirst come, and whosoever 00:37:56.350 --> 00:38:04.890 will let him take the water of life freely." Notice what it takes to be saved. It takes someone that 00:38:04.890 --> 00:38:11.370 has a will to take the water of life freely. Now it's not, oh you have to have a will to repent of 00:38:11.370 --> 00:38:16.210 all your sins. You have to have a will to give up all your kingpin sins and get your life right with 00:38:16.210 --> 00:38:20.500 God. No, what you have to do is you just have to have a will to just take the glass of water. 00:38:20.500 --> 00:38:25.380 You just have to have a will to come. You just have to have a will to walk through the door, 00:38:25.380 --> 00:38:29.980 to eat the bread of life, to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and why is it many people are not 00:38:29.980 --> 00:38:34.240 saved? No, someone's soul was thirsty. Someone said hey I don't want 00:39:09.970 --> 00:39:15.140 to be infirm anymore. I don't want to be impotent anymore. I want to be healed and Jesus asked this 00:39:15.140 --> 00:39:20.370 man will thou be made whole and then what happened he tells him rise up and walk and he was healed 00:39:20.370 --> 00:39:26.550
