Notice this a man with an unclean spirit. 38:41.400 --> 38:42.400 Now what is this? 38:42.900 --> 38:49.620 phrase an unclean spirit this is talking about what the devil or what the bible refers to as a devil 38:49.620 --> 38:56.980 or devils now if you look at verse number uh 12 notice it says this and all the devils 38:57.540 --> 39:02.500 besought him so when you see that phrase in the bible someone that has an unclean spirit 39:02.500 --> 39:05.780 it's talking about someone that is demon possessed 39:06.200 --> 39:12.920 Of course, God has created these spiritual entities in this world and you have angels 39:12.920 --> 39:16.440 that the Bible talks about are ministering what spirits, right? 39:16.440 --> 39:22.280 So we have angels in this world and the Bible talks about how they're sent to minister unto 39:22.280 --> 39:25.740 those that believe and also their ministers of God. 39:25.740 --> 39:31.900 You see them serving in heaven serving the Lord, but you also have these unclean spirits. 39:32.000 --> 39:38.320 The Bible does not give us a whole lot of detail as to how you know this exactly thing happened 39:38.400 --> 39:42.520 But the Bible does talk about in 2nd Peter chapter 2 and in Jude 39:42.720 --> 39:47.560 These unclean spirits that did not obey or they left their first estate 39:47.900 --> 39:56.060 They left their habitation and so it's not like God created these spirits to be wicked to be unclean 39:56.080 --> 39:59.980 You know, they became that way based on their own free 40:00.000 --> 40:00.600 will. 40:00.700 --> 40:04.940 Which what's funny about that is if you understand, you know a little bit about angels and these 40:05.340 --> 40:11.020 Unclean spirits these devils if the devils have free will, you know, doesn't it make sense that human beings also have free will 40:11.340 --> 40:13.340 It would be so ridiculous to have like this 40:13.340 --> 40:19.180 You know calvinist mindset where it's like the devils disobeyed at one point. They left their habitation 40:19.180 --> 40:24.220 They left their first estate but for some reason human beings don't have any free will whatsoever. That just doesn't make any sense 40:24.780 --> 40:28.460 Right. So people who are unsaved can't have this happen 40:28.700 --> 40:34.580 them where unclean spirits can inhabit their body and this is what is more in our modern 40:34.580 --> 40:37.500 vernacular known as like demon possession. 40:37.500 --> 40:41.440 But the Bible doesn't use the word demon the Bible use the word devils or unclean spirits 40:41.440 --> 40:43.340 so that's what's happening here to this man. 40:43.340 --> 40:47.900 And notice it says in verse number three it says who had his dwelling among the tombs. 40:48.100 --> 40:51.280 No, man could bind him no not with chains 40:51.280 --> 40:58.280 So we see some attributes of a demon possessed person and one of the attributes of them is that they dwell in the tombs 40:58.700 --> 41:02.080 Right there hanging out in the graveyard and you know 41:02.080 --> 41:05.820 It's just it's we should just stay away from this culture of just loving death 41:06.140 --> 41:10.420 Worshipping death worshipping darkness because this is something having to do with Devils 41:10.780 --> 41:16.100 Unclean spirits like this kind of stuff and so you know weird Christians were children of light we shouldn't 41:16.100 --> 41:19.280 be all enthralled with the realm of darkness. 41:19.280 --> 41:21.300 That's just not something we should be doing. 41:21.300 --> 41:23.720 But notice he can't be bound with chains. 41:23.720 --> 41:24.580 He's very strong. 41:24.580 --> 41:29.380 Verse four says that because that he had been often bound 41:29.380 --> 41:33.180 with fetters and chains and the chains had been plucked 41:33.180 --> 41:34.540 asunder by him. 41:34.600 --> 41:41.120 The Fedders broken in pieces notice again neither could any man tame him 41:41.120 --> 41:47.240 And you know I hate to say it when I read this description of what a person with an unclean spirit 41:47.240 --> 41:50.680 It's like I often think about how a lot of homeless people act now 41:50.680 --> 41:57.960 I'm not saying that all homeless people are demon possessed, but I do believe some of them are I mean haven't you seen that homeless person? 41:58.080 --> 42:01.880 He's just like talking to himself. He's having a full-on conversation with himself 42:02.600 --> 42:09.120 Yelling at nothing fighting nothing, you know, oftentimes it takes six cops to get this person on the ground 42:09.680 --> 42:16.680 Seems to match what the Bible is describing as someone that is demon possessed and notice this phrase is used twice verse 3 42:16.680 --> 42:22.140 It says no man could bind him verse 4 said neither could any man tame him 42:22.240 --> 42:28.000 And you know one lesson we should learn from that is that there are some problems in this world that only 42:28.280 --> 42:30.280 require a spiritual solution 42:30.700 --> 42:37.980 Sometimes not every problem in life can be fixed by human means not everything can be controlled by human means 42:37.980 --> 42:42.700 You know when it comes to demon possession having an unclean spirit. That's one of those things 42:42.700 --> 42:48.340 That's not it's not a problem that could be fixed by human means you can't take someone with an unclean spirit to a psychiatrist 42:48.780 --> 42:54.940 And have them you know tell the psychiatrist about their abusive mother and grandma or father or bad childhood 42:54.940 --> 42:57.540 And all of a sudden that person be fixed. There's a spiritual issue 42:58.600 --> 43:03.960 And look, I don't just apply this when it comes to, you know, being possessed with devils. 43:03.960 --> 43:08.840 I think there's a lot of other areas in life where it's like the best solution and sometimes 43:08.840 --> 43:13.800 the only solution is a spiritual one. Let me give you some examples. 43:13.800 --> 43:17.800 I do believe that there is such a thing as depression. 43:18.200 --> 43:25.000 I do believe that there is such a thing as you know PTSD or having mental problems or having mental 43:25.080 --> 43:29.400 Illnesses that are caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain. I do believe that that stuff is real 43:29.800 --> 43:35.820 But I also believe that a lot of people in this world are depressed for spiritual reasons 43:36.600 --> 43:40.600 And I think a lot of people have depression, if you will, 43:40.600 --> 43:42.200 but if they actually started implementing 43:42.200 --> 43:44.480 some spiritual solutions, they might 43:44.480 --> 43:47.200 find some spiritual answers to their problem. 43:47.300 --> 44:01.300 And you know, I always tell Christians this, you know, before you even think about taking some sort of selective serotonin retake inhibitor, SSRIs, which is all what the school shooters are usually always on these antidepressant drugs. 44:01.300 --> 44:05.300 It's like, all right, make sure you're reading the Bible every single day. 44:05.300 --> 44:07.300 Make sure you're praying every single day. 44:07.300 --> 44:12.300 Make sure you're going to every church service you can make sure you're preaching the gospel every single week. 44:12.300 --> 44:14.400 Make sure you're loving your neighbor as yourself. 44:14.400 --> 44:15.240 Do all the... 44:15.300 --> 44:18.860 those things and if you're doing all of those things and you're still depressed 44:18.860 --> 44:22.380 okay then maybe we could talk about some sort of medical intervention but it's 44:22.380 --> 44:25.860 like don't come to me and be like hey I need to be medicated when it's like 44:25.860 --> 44:27.020 you're not even reading the Bible 44:27.600 --> 44:33.920 You're not reading the bible. You're not going to church. You're not praying. You're not sleeping. You're not eating healthy. You're not exercising. It's like 44:34.560 --> 44:39.120 Maybe there's other issues going on right? Not every single problem in life 44:39.520 --> 44:44.640 Is just a physical problem with a physical answer. Sometimes, you know, no man can bind him 44:44.880 --> 44:51.120 Sometimes no man can tame him. It's like here's one problem in life that can't be fixed by human means. How about sin? 44:51.800 --> 44:55.560 Right, you can't just go amend your sin and take care of that issue. 44:55.560 --> 45:00.840 It's a spiritual solution called believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and now shall be saved. 45:00.840 --> 45:05.840 Notice what else it says about him in verse five and always night and day he was in the 45:05.840 --> 45:11.840 mountains and in the tombs crying and cutting himself with stones. 45:12.300 --> 45:18.620 So notice cutting yourself again is an attribute that's related to someone that is demon possessed 45:18.940 --> 45:23.040 I was telling you guys on sunday how I was reading that book about the comanches 45:23.420 --> 45:28.060 And how when they would do their rituals they would draw a circle in the sand they would draw a cross 45:28.380 --> 45:35.500 And then the ladies would basically lean over that circle and cut their breasts and cut their arms and just gush blood down the floor 45:35.660 --> 45:40.220 It's like you know what that is. That's worshiping devils is what that is. So at the end of the day, God created animals, He takes care of them, 55:54.260 --> 55:59.700 He doesn't want us to be cruel to them, but at the end of the day, God's always going to choose 55:59.700 --> 56:05.460 human beings over animals. You got a new man and it's like this guy definitely became a new man. He became 58:54.500 --> 59:00.500 a different man and inside of us when we get saved, we get the new man. Go if you would 59:00.500 --> 59:05.820 to Galatians chapter five. Now, this is not saying again, this is not saying, oh, when 59:05.820 --> 59:08.780 you get saved, you're automatically going to change your life and have all these different 59:08.780 --> 59:14.660 works because here's the thing. You know, if you walk 01:01:12.400 --> 01:01:14.400 in the Spirit for another 10 years, you're going to be a much 01:01:14.400 --> 01:01:16.400 different person 10 years from now.
