We are in Mark chapter number 12, 27:36.340 --> 27:40.500 and this chapter starts off with the parable of the wicked husbandmen. 27:41.000 --> 27:43.000 And I actually want to start in verse number 12. 27:43.000 --> 27:45.160 It's going to give us a little bit of context here. 27:45.160 --> 27:47.480 It says, and they sought to lay hold on him, 27:47.480 --> 27:48.840 but feared the people. 27:48.840 --> 27:49.440 Why? 27:49.440 --> 27:53.320 For they knew that he had spoken the parable against them. 27:53.320 --> 27:56.160 So one thing you've got to understand about this parable 27:56.160 --> 27:59.200 and really about a lot of Jesus's parables 27:59.200 --> 28:02.640 is that a lot of his parables are against the Jews, 28:02.640 --> 28:06.600 are against those who lived in Israel who would reject him. 28:06.600 --> 28:09.000 That's really the primary application of a lie. 28:09.000 --> 28:14.360 lot of his parables are parables against the Jews. Let's read this together verse number one. 28:15.000 --> 28:21.800 The Bible says, and he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard 28:21.800 --> 28:28.200 and set a hedge about it and digged a place for the wine fat and built a tower and let it out to 28:28.200 --> 28:31.400 husband men and went into a far country. 28:32.100 --> 28:34.860 So in this parable, and of course, what is a parable? 28:34.860 --> 28:40.100 It's like an earthly story or earthly truth that reveals to us spiritual truth. 28:40.400 --> 28:48.200 And here he's using this earthly truth of like a landowner or a householder who he has this vineyard and notice all the great 28:48.600 --> 28:52.120 Preparation that he puts into this vineyard. What is he doing with this vineyard? 28:52.120 --> 28:55.240 Well first he had to have bought the vineyard vineyard, right and he planted it 28:55.240 --> 28:57.920 It says that he set a hedge about it 28:57.920 --> 29:04.280 So it's like protecting it and digged a place for the wine fat. So he's providing for it 29:04.700 --> 29:06.540 and he built a tower. 29:06.540 --> 29:08.580 He's like making sure it's protected. 29:08.580 --> 29:12.140 He's elevating it and he let it out to husband men. 29:12.140 --> 29:14.820 So the person who's planting the vineyard, 29:14.820 --> 29:19.380 the householder in this parable would of course be God the Father. 29:19.380 --> 29:22.620 And the vineyard itself is representing the nation of Israel. 29:22.900 --> 29:28.340 and the people that he lets out the vineyard to would be the people of the nation of Israel, right? 29:28.340 --> 29:34.100 So if we look at the nation of Israel, God did a lot for the nation of Israel. He really cared for 29:34.100 --> 29:38.500 it. He really invested into it. He made sure that they had the word of God. He made sure that they 29:38.500 --> 29:43.380 had the prophets. He made sure that they had all these great things, the service of God, the temple, 29:43.380 --> 29:49.140 if you will. And you know, that was God preparing the vineyard so that Israel can bring forth a 29:49.140 --> 29:50.140 Keep your place there. 29:50.900 --> 29:58.780 lot of Bible tonight. Go to Romans chapter 3. Romans chapter number 3. Romans 3 when 29:58.780 --> 30:04.620 you get there, look at verse 1. Notice it says, what advantage then hath the Jew? 30:05.000 --> 30:07.500 or what profit is there of circumcision, 30:07.500 --> 30:10.080 much every way, chiefly, 30:10.080 --> 30:13.780 because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. 30:13.780 --> 30:15.420 So when you think about the people 30:15.420 --> 30:17.580 who are working in the vineyard, 30:17.580 --> 30:20.180 they had a good advantage working in this vineyard. 30:20.180 --> 30:21.020 Why? 30:21.020 --> 30:22.820 Because there was a man who took a risk, 30:22.820 --> 30:25.280 who had the capital to buy this vineyard, 30:25.280 --> 30:28.060 and he didn't just buy it, he hedged it roundabout, 30:28.060 --> 30:29.300 he protected it. 30:29.300 --> 30:31.400 You know, he provided a wine press 30:31.400 --> 30:32.960 so that you can make a profit. 30:33.000 --> 30:36.900 from this vineyard. He set up a tower so that you could protect it. 30:36.900 --> 30:43.000 You know, he did everything he could for his servants to have succeeded in their endeavor of taking care of the vineyard. 30:43.000 --> 30:48.400 And the Bible saying, hey, when we're thinking about the Jews, we're thinking about Israel, what advantage did they have? 30:48.400 --> 30:54.700 Well, really every way they had an advantage, chiefly, the most, you know, the most prime way that they had an advantage 30:54.700 --> 30:57.300 was that God gave them the Word of God. 30:57.700 --> 31:02.780 And that is a great advantage in life to have the Word of God. 31:02.780 --> 31:07.260 And of course, you know, the Word of God exists generally in this world, but what an advantage 31:07.260 --> 31:11.140 our kids have in this room that are growing up with the Word of God. 31:11.140 --> 31:14.860 Growing up hearing the Word of God, growing up memorizing the Word of God, you know, that 31:14.860 --> 31:19.860 is a great advantage that they should be thankful for, that there are people preparing them 31:19.860 --> 31:20.860 for that. 31:20.860 --> 31:22.300 Go to Romans 9. 31:22.300 --> 31:24.300 We'll see something similar. 31:25.400 --> 31:34.160 Speaking of the Israelites look at verse 4 it says who are Israelites to whom pertaineth notice this the adoption and the glory and the 31:34.600 --> 31:40.000 Covenants and the giving of the law and the service of God and the promises 31:40.240 --> 31:47.440 Whose are the fathers and of whom is concerning the flesh Christ came who is overall God blessed forever amen 31:48.000 --> 31:53.360 So notice how much of an advantage the Jews had how much of an advantage the 31:53.400 --> 31:58.540 nation of Israel had, they had the service of God. They have the Word of God. They have 31:58.540 --> 32:02.760 the temple. They have the glory. They have the promises. They even have Christ Himself 32:02.760 --> 32:09.760 coming first to them. They had great advantages, just like the people taking care of this vineyard 32:09.760 --> 32:14.740 had great advantages by what the householder did for them. Go back to Mark chapter number 32:14.740 --> 32:19.260 12. Remember to keep your place there so you can get back there quickly. Mark chapter number 32:19.260 --> 32:19.900 12. 32:20.900 --> 32:22.460 Notice it says in verse number two, 32:22.460 --> 32:26.600 and at the season, he sent to the husband men a servant. 32:26.700 --> 32:29.940 that he might receive from the husbandmen 32:29.940 --> 32:32.240 of the fruit of the vineyard. 32:32.240 --> 32:36.240 So here we see the householder's expectations, 32:36.240 --> 32:37.080 which is what? 32:37.080 --> 32:39.880 It's picturing God's expectations 32:39.880 --> 32:41.380 of the nation of Israel. 32:41.380 --> 32:44.380 The householder, the reason he's putting so much effort 32:44.380 --> 32:46.960 into blessing these workers 32:46.960 --> 32:50.160 is because he's expecting a profit from them. 32:50.160 --> 32:50.300 you 32:50.400 --> 32:54.360 The whole reason an employee is going to give you health care, 32:54.360 --> 32:57.200 pay for your uniforms, and provide you an office, 32:57.200 --> 32:59.960 and buy you a computer, buy you work materials, 32:59.960 --> 33:03.400 is so that you can work and provide a profit. 33:03.400 --> 33:06.760 So God the Father, He did not just choose Israel 33:06.760 --> 33:09.800 just because they happen to be special because of their DNA, 33:09.800 --> 33:11.200 and that's the only reason why. 33:11.200 --> 33:14.680 No, the reason God chose Israel in the Old Testament 33:14.680 --> 33:18.400 to be a special nation, to be God's chosen people, was... 33:18.400 --> 33:24.240 to bring forth fruit. And when the householder is sending forth servants to reap that fruit, 33:24.240 --> 33:29.200 that's a picture of God sending preachers and prophets in the Old Testament to the nation of 33:29.200 --> 33:33.520 Israel. And you know what they're expecting? They're expecting people to receive the preaching 33:33.520 --> 33:39.280 and for them to reap righteousness, for them to sow into the house of God, and to be a righteous 33:39.280 --> 33:39.780 nation. 33:40.100 --> 33:44.600 The same exact thing is true today of a church and of a Christian. 33:44.600 --> 33:46.600 Why is it that God blesses a church? 33:46.600 --> 33:48.600 It's because he's expecting a profit. 33:48.600 --> 33:52.600 Right? And some people are like, freak out about this idea of the word business. 33:52.600 --> 33:55.600 But Jesus said, I must be about my Father's business. 33:56.100 --> 34:00.500 And you know the kingdom of God, it's a business where God is investing into us. 34:00.500 --> 34:04.020 God is blessing us. God is giving our nation freedom. 34:04.020 --> 34:07.460 God is giving us the King James Bible. And you know what God expects from us 34:07.460 --> 34:11.620 is to do something with it. And you know what in you, in your life, 34:11.620 --> 34:15.460 if you want to be blessed by God, you need to bring forth fruit unto God. 34:16.100 --> 34:21.460 Because one of the biggest reasons why God ends up replacing the nation of Israel 34:21.460 --> 34:22.820 is because he found no fruit. 34:23.300 --> 34:29.240 Because they weren't bringing forth fruit, but you know what just like it was when Jesus is preaching this so it is today 34:29.500 --> 34:35.420 God expects a profit from us God expects us to go out and take the resources 34:35.420 --> 34:41.380 God has blessed us with the health God has blessed us with and to go put it to work for the Lord, right? 34:41.380 --> 34:46.140 And it's not about you know a profit for us. It's not about making a profit 34:46.140 --> 34:50.420 You know financially for the church or something like that.
