We don't have to agree on every single thing here 24:49.600 --> 24:53.760 I'm my job is to preach the Bible and what I believe and I'm just saying, you know 24:53.760 --> 24:58.260 Don't take a sermon like this and use it to try to pit good men of God against 24:58.300 --> 25:02.100 each other. That's not at all my spirit in this. This is just something that many of 25:02.100 --> 25:06.660 you brought to me and asked me questions about that I hear people talking about. I usually am hearing a lot of human logic reasoning 26:46.300 --> 26:50.500 I'm not really hearing any clear Bible verses that says, hey, lying is okay. 26:50.500 --> 26:53.500 Sometimes lying is sometimes not sinful. 26:53.900 --> 26:56.600 We're going to go to the Bible to prove what I believe this evening. 26:57.100 --> 26:58.600 Go to Proverbs chapter number six. 26:58.600 --> 27:00.100 Number one, I want to say this. 27:00.100 --> 27:03.700 The Bible unequivocally condemns lying. 27:04.200 --> 27:06.600 The Bible unequivocally condemns lying. 27:07.000 --> 27:11.100 No one can show you a clear statement in the Bible that says, hey, sometimes 27:11.100 --> 27:13.600 it's okay to lie. That verse does not exist. 27:14.000 --> 27:20.920 Sometimes you'll find people go to a few stories and we'll go to those stories this evening later and their interpretation of those stories 27:21.200 --> 27:24.820 Lends to them saying see lying is okay in certain instances 27:25.120 --> 27:28.860 But you ought to be careful that you're not basing doctrine solely on a story 27:29.600 --> 27:33.920 Stories can be great in in addition to clear statements, right? 27:33.920 --> 27:38.680 And if you have a story that matches clear statements in the Bible then fine 27:38.680 --> 27:45.680 But if your interpretation of a story causes there to be contradictions between very clear statements in the Bible 27:45.680 --> 27:52.120 You know, you may have a wrong interpretation of those stories. So let's just look at some really really clear scripture 27:52.220 --> 27:57.160 What does the Bible teach about lying? Well, we already saw it's one of the ten commandments. It's commandment number nine 27:57.600 --> 27:59.600 Look at Proverbs chapter 6 verse 16. 27:59.600 --> 28:03.600 These six things doth the Lord hate. 28:03.600 --> 28:05.600 That's a strong word. 28:05.600 --> 28:09.600 Seven are an abomination unto him, a proud look. 28:09.600 --> 28:11.600 Notice this, a lying tongue. 28:11.600 --> 28:13.600 And hands that shed innocent blood, 28:13.600 --> 28:17.600 and heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, 28:17.600 --> 28:19.600 feet that be swift in running to mischief. 28:19.600 --> 28:23.600 Notice a false witness that speaketh lies. 28:24.000 --> 28:31.340 he that soweth discord among brethren." So when God is listing seven things that he hates 28:32.000 --> 28:36.700 Things that are an abomination unto him notice how lying is repeated twice 28:37.280 --> 28:43.200 Going to show like how much God despises lying and you know, he brings up the false witness 28:43.280 --> 28:47.200 So that would be lying about other people right also 28:47.200 --> 28:49.960 It just says the lying tongue that could be just lying about anything 28:50.280 --> 28:56.480 But the point is is that obviously you could just say as a fact based on a clear statement in the Bible 28:56.480 --> 28:59.160 We could say dogmatically God hates lying 28:59.600 --> 29:04.040 God despises it. It's an abomination to God. That's not I don't have to go to a story 29:04.040 --> 29:09.800 I don't have to have some sort of human logic. I could just say thus say it the Lord God hates lying 29:09.840 --> 29:12.580 It's an abomination to him go to Proverbs 12 29:13.800 --> 29:15.800 Proverbs chapter number 12 29:17.080 --> 29:19.920 Look at verse 22 lying lips are 29:20.940 --> 29:22.800 abomination to the Lord 29:22.800 --> 29:30.960 But they that deal truly are his delight so notice not only does the Bible clearly say in Proverbs chapter 6 that God hates 29:30.960 --> 29:36.780 Lying it's an abomination to him. This is a place where we can go multiple different places in scripture to prove 29:36.780 --> 29:38.260 It's not just one verse now 29:38.260 --> 29:43.340 Here's the thing one very very clear verse that says something that's truth right all of the Bible is true all 29:43.620 --> 29:48.200 Scripture is given by inspiration of God, but we're starting to see a pattern here, right? 29:48.200 --> 29:50.800 So three different times so far go to Proverbs 13 29:50.800 --> 30:00.300 Verse 5, a righteous man hateth lying, but a wicked man is loathsome and cometh to shame. 30:00.300 --> 30:05.860 So we see God constantly hates lying and it's an abomination to God, not only is lying an 30:05.860 --> 30:11.100 abomination to God, but a righteous person also hates lying. 30:11.100 --> 30:15.300 You know who it is that people who are full of deceit in this world reprobates? 30:15.700 --> 30:22.100 Romans chapter 1 who is it in this world that loves lies reprobates children of the devil why because 30:22.380 --> 30:28.400 Satan is the father of lies right in the Bible saying that a righteous man hates life 30:28.400 --> 30:32.680 You know don't you just hate it when people lie boy. I've seen that this week. You know it's funny 30:32.680 --> 30:37.240 It's really ironic the timing of this sermon because just a few days ago the Oklahoman 30:37.420 --> 30:41.300 Released an article about me where I was being accused of lying 30:42.100 --> 30:46.740 And here's what's funny about it, is the people accusing me of lying are actually the ones 30:46.740 --> 30:47.740 lying. 30:47.740 --> 30:48.740 Isn't that funny? 30:48.740 --> 30:51.820 Also, sometimes people like accuse you of railing, but then because they're accusing 30:51.820 --> 30:54.500 you falsely of railing, they're the ones that are actually railers? 30:55.400 --> 31:13.800 You know in this article in the Oklahoma in the director of the affairs that happens at this certain Catholic Church that I went to interview a priest at said that she and I had a phone conversation where I told her that what I was producing was going to be positive towards the Catholic Church. 31:14.240 --> 31:15.480 Here's what's crazy about that. 31:15.760 --> 31:21.400 Not only is she just like oh well she's twisting words that conversation never even happened. 31:21.900 --> 31:24.900 We never spoke about the content of what I was filming. 31:24.900 --> 31:30.500 I communicated an email with the priest and with the diocese of Oklahoma City, 31:30.500 --> 31:34.900 and I said this. I asked him questions and I let him talk. He said hey you need to call my secretary 31:53.100 --> 31:58.260 Set up a time to do this interview and I called and I said hey this priest said that he's down for the interview 31:58.260 --> 32:01.220 That I just needed to call to you and set it up and she's like, okay 32:01.220 --> 32:07.220 Well, the priest is in Rome for several weeks. You know, maybe God would have ensured that they died. Maybe God would have killed them himself if they lied 44:20.880 --> 44:23.800 You know what you're always safest in the will of God 44:24.100 --> 44:27.860 No matter what situation you're in you are always safest in the will of God 44:27.860 --> 44:30.600 You know what God's will is for you thou shalt not bear false witness 44:31.200 --> 44:37.360 to not tell lies. I wonder if we would have this story in our Bible if these men compromised. 45:46.800 --> 45:48.840 Oh, but what if your life is in danger? 45:48.840 --> 45:52.240 Then let your life be in danger and trust the Lord. 45:52.240 --> 45:54.400 That'd be my advice to you. 45:54.400 --> 45:57.920 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spake and 45:57.920 --> 46:03.400 said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth 46:03.400 --> 46:05.040 and come hither. 46:05.040 --> 46:09.400 Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came forth out of the midst of the fire. 46:09.400 --> 46:11.020 I mean, let's just be honest. 46:11.020 --> 46:13.860 This is one of the coolest stories in the whole Bible. 46:14.300 --> 46:17.860 Who gets super excited when they get in their Bible reading to Daniel chapter number three? 46:17.860 --> 46:19.140 Everyone just gets pumped. 46:19.140 --> 46:25.340 I love coming to this story because it's so powerful seeing God reward people by faith. 46:25.340 --> 46:30.780 Now here's the thing, how much you risk for God by faith is going to determine how much 46:30.780 --> 46:31.700 He can use you. 46:32.200 --> 46:37.740 Honestly, and so here's the thing you're not going to be in one of these exception scenarios most likely anyways 46:37.820 --> 46:43.860 But you know what if someone does have a gun to your head and tells you renounce Christ or I'm gonna kill you 46:43.860 --> 46:48.740 Hey, are you a Christian? Why don't you just say the truth? Yeah? Yes, I'm a Christian 46:49.400 --> 46:53.640 Hey, I'm not ashamed of Jesus Christ. Some people will go to this story and say, 58:57.640 --> 59:01.000 hey, they lied and God dealt well with them. 59:01.000 --> 59:04.880 Here's why I believe that God is dealing well with them because of what the Bible 59:04.880 --> 59:05.920 clearly says 59:05.920 --> 59:08.500 that they feared God over man. 59:08.900 --> 59:14.600 Does that mean that absolutely everything they did in this situation was 100% morally perfect? 59:14.600 --> 59:16.900 No, because it is a sin to lie. 59:17.100 --> 59:20.380 But overall God is seeing hey these people fear God 59:20.500 --> 59:26.020 They do not want to commit this wicked sin of murdering these babies and it was because of their fear of God 59:26.380 --> 59:30.940 That God commends them and God looks well on them and God blesses them now 59:30.940 --> 59:35.420 Here's the thing my interpretation of that does that match other clear scriptures in the Bible? 59:35.420 --> 59:37.700 Yes, we ought to obey God rather than men 59:37.860 --> 59:45.100 That is a clear scripture that matches up with this is there any clear scripture in the Bible that says it's okay to lie when people 59:45.100 --> 59:50.060 lives are at stake. There is no Bible verse that says that. So in my opinion, that interpretation 59:50.060 --> 59:55.500 of this story is incorrect. That it's not right. That the Bible's not commending lying here. And some people 01:00:02.380 --> 01:00:08.060 will go to this story and say that this story teaches that it is sometimes okay to lie. Let me 01:00:08.060 --> 01:00:10.140 tell you why I believe that that is also incorrect. 01:00:11.500 --> 01:00:19.260 Joshua chapter number two verse one and Joshua the son of nun sent out of Shatim two men to spy secretly saying 01:00:19.500 --> 01:00:26.860 Go view the land even Jericho and they went and came into an harlots house named Rahab and lodged there 01:00:27.400 --> 01:00:35.580 And it was told the king of Jericho saying behold there came men in hither tonight of the children of israel to search out the country 01:00:36.220 --> 01:00:43.740 And the king of jericho sent under rahab saying bring forth the men that are come to thee which are entered into thine house 01:00:44.220 --> 01:00:47.100 For they become to search out all the country 01:00:47.500 --> 01:00:52.860 Right, so these men of israel these spies. These are the good guys. These are the guys that are on the lord side 01:00:53.300 --> 01:01:00.000 Whereas the city of Jericho is wicked hence why it gets destroyed in this book. No, she's a harlot. You still love them and still say like overall. I'm pleased.
