So this is not a person who is ignorant of the truth 35:11.620 --> 35:17.320 This is not someone who's struggling to come along in the right direction. They're saying no, we're gonna go this way 35:22.120 --> 35:29.540 God parts the Red Sea gives them Moses delivers them from the bondage of Egypt feeds them with honey out of a rock 35:29.680 --> 35:34.040 You know gives them butter and manna from heaven and all this good stuff and they see 35:34.100 --> 35:39.380 that good stuff and they're willfully contrarian. They willfully know God was good to them, 35:39.380 --> 35:42.140 but they said, hey, you know what, we're going to serve other gods anyways. We're going to 35:42.140 --> 35:46.020 go ahead and just lightly esteem God. God says, do this. We're just going to, in spite 35:46.020 --> 35:51.560 of him, go the opposite direction. This is what a froward person is like. And you know, 35:51.560 --> 35:57.740 there could even be an entire froward generation, right? Cause he just says, Hey, this generation 35:57.740 --> 35:59.660 is very froward. 36:01.400 --> 36:02.760 Now, go, if you would, to Proverbs, 36:02.760 --> 36:04.840 chapter number two, Proverbs, chapter number two. 36:05.880 --> 36:10.840 You have to realize that in life, there is a big difference between a person 36:10.840 --> 36:15.800 who struggles understanding concepts or is just struggling, you know, 36:15.800 --> 36:19.560 going the right direction in life versus someone who knows the truth 36:19.560 --> 36:22.680 and is willfully contrary. This is a foward person. 36:23.200 --> 36:28.640 All right now by way of introduction let's look at some attributes from the bible of a foward person 36:28.640 --> 36:32.560 What are they like proverbs has a lot on this look at proverbs 2 verse 11 36:33.820 --> 36:35.820 discretion shall preserve thee 36:36.400 --> 36:43.120 Understanding shall keep thee to deliver thee from the way of the evil man from the man that speaketh 36:43.840 --> 36:45.500 foward things 36:45.700 --> 36:51.460 So one attribute of someone who is froward has to do with the things that they say, right? 36:51.460 --> 36:54.580 They read something in the Bible, they're just going to say the opposite. 36:54.580 --> 36:57.300 You know, the preacher preaches one thing, they're just going to believe the opposite 36:57.300 --> 37:00.500 and tell people the opposite. You know, mom and dad tells us to do something, 37:00.500 --> 37:03.620 they're just going to do the opposite. They're just a froward person. 37:03.800 --> 37:08.000 And it's not that there's a lack of truth being exposed to this person. 37:08.000 --> 37:11.000 It's someone just receives the truth that just doesn't like it. 37:11.000 --> 37:12.400 They're just going to be forward. 37:12.400 --> 37:15.200 They're just going to reject it and go a different direction. 37:15.200 --> 37:17.000 And notice that's what it says in verse 13, 37:17.000 --> 37:20.800 who leave the paths of unrighteousness, of uprightness, 37:20.800 --> 37:22.800 to walk in the ways of darkness. 37:23.200 --> 37:28.080 You know, it should really it should be setting off red flags in your mind when someone is speaking 37:28.620 --> 37:35.700 Forwardly because that's an indication that they're going to leave the paths of uprightness or are leaving the paths of uprightness 37:36.020 --> 37:42.500 Right, so we should not ignore when we see red flags of a forward person where they're just willfully contrary 37:42.980 --> 37:49.540 They're just difficult to manage just difficult to get along with because it's revealing a heart issue with that person 37:49.780 --> 37:51.200 That they want to leave the path 37:51.200 --> 37:56.960 of a brightness. Look at verse 14. This is scary right here. Who rejoice to do 37:56.960 --> 38:03.000 evil and delight in the forwardness of the wicked. Does this sound like a 38:03.000 --> 38:07.480 person who's just struggling with sin? They're just a little backslidden. Yeah, that makes sense, right? 39:28.300 --> 39:34.000 But then there's people you just show them verse after verse after verse, and it's like water off a duck's back. 39:34.000 --> 39:37.800 They don't care. You know what? He speaketh with his feet. He teacheth with his fingers notice. He's he's insincere 40:52.780 --> 40:54.780 Right. He's a fake person verse 14 40:55.400 --> 40:59.840 Forwardness is in his heart. He deviseth mischief continually 41:00.700 --> 41:08.080 He soweth discord. What are some other attributes of a forward person? I want to give you two groups of people 43:18.600 --> 43:23.600 that I believe can just be classified as a throw word generation. 43:23.600 --> 43:26.100 Go to 2nd Timothy chapter 1. 43:26.100 --> 43:31.600 Number 1, Christians who refuse to follow the right things 43:31.600 --> 43:34.600 that the previous generation has taught. 43:34.600 --> 43:38.600 Christians that just refuse to follow the good things 43:38.600 --> 43:40.200 that their parents taught them. 43:40.400 --> 43:42.640 that their pastors taught them, 43:42.640 --> 43:45.780 that the previous generation of Christians have taught them. 43:45.780 --> 43:47.840 They're not just rejecting things because, 43:47.840 --> 43:49.540 hey, they looked at the Bible and saw 43:49.540 --> 43:51.140 the Bible teaches something different 43:51.140 --> 43:52.620 than the previous generations, 43:52.620 --> 43:54.320 but they're just taking the good things 43:54.320 --> 43:55.620 that mom and dad gives them, 43:55.620 --> 43:57.460 the good things that the preacher gives them, 43:57.460 --> 43:59.120 and they're just rejecting those things 43:59.120 --> 44:02.000 because they're a forward generation. 44:02.000 --> 44:04.360 Look at 2 Timothy 1, verse 3. 44:05.000 --> 44:11.000 The Apostle Paul said this, I thank God, notice whom I serve from my forefathers. 44:11.300 --> 44:17.780 with pure conscience that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day 44:17.780 --> 44:20.820 So he's he's pointing back to the faith of his forefathers 44:21.140 --> 44:26.180 And you know, there was some good things there and he says hey I serve god from my forefathers 44:26.660 --> 44:27.140 And you know what? 44:27.140 --> 44:31.460 We have lots of spiritual forefathers that we should look to and say hey, you know 44:31.460 --> 44:35.060 The good things that these people believed we should hang on to those things 44:35.540 --> 44:39.300 Right the good things that the old ifb has taught since the 19 44:39.300 --> 44:41.500 50s, 60s, and so on. 44:41.500 --> 44:42.620 We should hang on to that stuff. 44:42.620 --> 44:44.620 How about the King James Bible? 44:44.620 --> 44:49.100 You know, let's not get modern perversions of the Bible that take out half of Mark chapter 44:49.100 --> 44:55.660 16, that take out parts of John 7 and John 8, that take out parts of Matthew chapter 44:55.660 --> 45:00.380 4 verse 4, that take out 1 John 5, 7, you know, that just corrupt the word of God. 45:00.380 --> 45:04.740 You know, why would we just be stubborn and rebellious and foward and reject something 45:04.740 --> 45:05.380 that's good? 45:05.900 --> 45:11.060 Hey, that's one thing to look at the faith of our fathers and say, Hey, you know what? 45:11.060 --> 45:13.740 The Bible disagrees with them on this one point. 45:13.740 --> 45:15.540 We're going to stick with what the Bible says. 45:15.540 --> 45:16.540 But you know what? 45:16.540 --> 45:19.600 If there's something good that's been passed down to us, let's stick with that. 45:19.600 --> 45:20.600 Let's not be froward. 45:20.600 --> 45:23.200 Look at verse number four. 45:23.200 --> 45:27.780 Greatly desiring to see thee, that's Timothy, being mindful of thy tears that I may be filled 45:27.780 --> 45:28.700 with joy. 45:28.700 --> 45:36.620 Notice when I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois and 45:37.380 --> 45:44.580 Thy mother Eunice and I am persuaded that in thee also notice the Apostle Paul. He's not flattering Timothy here 45:44.580 --> 45:49.700 He's looking at Timothy and he says hey Timothy. I can see that in you. There is an unfeigned faith 45:50.100 --> 45:51.700 It's a real true faith. 45:51.700 --> 45:53.060 And he says, you know what, Timothy? 45:53.060 --> 45:56.780 That same faith dwelt in thy mother Eunice 45:56.780 --> 45:58.860 and in thy grandmother Lois. 45:58.860 --> 45:59.700 And you know what? 45:59.700 --> 46:03.220 If you have saved parents, if you're a child growing up 46:03.220 --> 46:05.540 in this church, or even if you're already an adult, 46:05.540 --> 46:07.700 but you have parents that taught you some good things, 46:07.700 --> 46:11.140 that taught you some truths, hold on to the truths 46:11.140 --> 46:12.660 that your parents taught you. 46:12.900 --> 46:18.260 And don't be such a foward fool where your parents are teaching you good things 46:18.260 --> 46:21.380 and you're just rejecting those good things just to be different. 46:21.380 --> 46:22.900 You know what that is? That's fowardness. 46:23.700 --> 46:28.980 It's one thing to look at the Bible and say, hey, mom and dad was wrong because what the Bible says, 46:28.980 --> 46:31.780 that's a completely different thing than your parents telling you, 46:31.780 --> 46:33.380 hey, son, read the Bible. 46:33.380 --> 46:36.020 And you're like, no. Hey, son, go to church. 46:36.020 --> 46:36.520 No. 46:36.900 --> 46:44.420 Hey son, don't be a drunkard. They want to see you grow 50:26.060 --> 50:31.460 They want to see you grow in the Lord serve God be blessed notice what the Bible says Proverbs 1 verse 8 50:32.020 --> 50:33.400 my son 50:33.400 --> 50:38.060 Hear the instruction of thy father and forsake not the law of thy mother 50:38.680 --> 50:44.080 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head and chains about thy neck 50:44.080 --> 50:50.320 The Bible says make sure you listen you hear the instruction from your parents and hold on to those things 50:50.520 --> 50:53.980 Why because it's actually going to be a blessing to you 50:54.400 --> 50:56.680 It's supposed to make your appearance look better. 50:56.840 --> 50:59.680 And it's saying, Hey, you know, by obeying your parents, by keeping 50:59.680 --> 51:02.400 what they teach you, it's going to be like an ornament of grace under 51:02.400 --> 51:04.480 thy head and chains about thy neck. 51:04.480 --> 51:05.320 Go to Proverbs four. 51:06.040 --> 51:09.160 It says here, ye children, the instruction of a father and 51:09.160 --> 51:11.240 attend to no understanding. 51:19.300 --> 51:23.860 You know, we, as parents, our job should be able to look at our children and say, 51:23.860 --> 51:26.100 Hey, I have given you good doctrine. 51:26.580 --> 51:28.580 I have showed you the right way to go. 51:28.900 --> 51:30.500 I've lived an example. 51:30.580 --> 51:32.980 I've shown you the way I've instructed you. 51:32.980 --> 51:33.780 I've modeled it. 51:33.780 --> 51:34.260 And you know what? 51:34.260 --> 51:36.900 You need to follow my lead, follow my lead. 51:37.060 --> 51:40.660 And look, unfortunately, there's a lot of parents today that cannot say that. 51:47.500 --> 51:51.440 There's a lot of fathers today in America that are just absent fathers. 51:51.440 --> 51:53.740 They're not loving their children or they're not even living with their children. 51:53.740 --> 51:56.240 They're not even providing for their children. 51:56.240 --> 51:58.960 That type of a selfish jerk can't say this. 51:58.960 --> 52:03.580 We as parents need to make sure that we are telling our kids the right way to go and we're 52:03.580 --> 52:08.000 modeling the right way to go so that we can look at them and say, hey son, follow me. 52:08.300 --> 52:14.500 Listen to my instruction. I've given you good doctrine and then children need to not have a foward heart and just 52:14.860 --> 52:16.860 rebel for the sake of rebelling 52:17.340 --> 52:22.900 Just disobey a mom and dad says just because it's mom and dad even if what mom and dad is telling you is straight 52:22.900 --> 52:24.600 from the Word of God 52:24.800 --> 52:30.240 And let me tell you something. If your parents are instructing you and their instruction matches what the Bible says, 52:30.240 --> 52:33.100 it might as well be God Almighty telling you something. 52:33.100 --> 52:36.500 Doesn't the Bible say, children obey your parents and the Lord for this is right? 52:36.500 --> 52:41.700 Right?
