And the title of the sermon this morning is 27:38.960 --> 27:40.960 The Bible College Scam. 27:41.400 --> 27:43.900 the Bible college scam. 27:43.900 --> 27:46.400 And when I call it the Bible college scam, 27:46.400 --> 27:49.300 I'm not saying that every Bible college 27:49.300 --> 27:51.700 is intentionally stealing money. 27:51.700 --> 27:55.400 I'm not saying that every Bible college president is a crook, 27:55.400 --> 27:58.000 okay, because there could be exceptions. 27:58.000 --> 28:00.500 And I'm not saying everyone who attends Bible college 28:00.500 --> 28:02.100 is even foolish. 28:02.100 --> 28:06.000 I'm not saying that there's no good ever 28:06.000 --> 28:08.000 comes from Bible colleges. 28:08.500 --> 28:18.000 I'm not saying that Christians should never take other organized classes or even to receive instruction outside of a regular church services. 28:18.000 --> 28:28.500 And when I talk about the Bible college scam, I'm talking about a larger idea that has been sold to generations of Baptists and other Christians. 28:28.500 --> 28:33.500 And the ideas are that if you want to serve God, you need to go to Bible colleges. 28:33.700 --> 28:37.700 that if you want to preach, you need a Bible college degree. 28:37.700 --> 28:40.860 If you want to be a pastor, you need four years 28:40.860 --> 28:43.340 of formal institutional training. 28:43.340 --> 28:44.980 That's what I'm talking about. 28:44.980 --> 28:47.020 And people will literally say that if you do not 28:47.020 --> 28:51.340 go to Bible college, you are not serious about the ministry. 28:51.340 --> 28:54.500 And these ideas are simply not found in the Bible. 28:55.500 --> 28:59.780 So the scam is turning an option into a requirement. 28:59.780 --> 29:01.260 That's a scam, okay? 29:01.260 --> 29:04.380 The scam is convincing pastors and churches 29:04.380 --> 29:07.300 that they cannot reproduce themselves 29:07.300 --> 29:10.440 unless they send their people to Bible colleges. 29:10.440 --> 29:12.780 And keep a place in Ephesians chapter four, 29:12.780 --> 29:16.780 go to Genesis chapter one, Genesis chapter number one. 29:17.900 --> 29:24.900 There's a principle in the Bible that everything brings forth after its own kind. 29:24.900 --> 29:29.220 In Genesis chapter 1, look at verse number 11. 29:29.220 --> 29:32.360 The Bible says this, Genesis 1, 11, and God said, 29:32.360 --> 29:35.840 Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, 29:35.840 --> 29:39.380 and the fruit tree yielding fruit after its kind, 29:39.380 --> 29:43.380 whose seed is in itself upon the earth, and it was so. 29:43.500 --> 29:51.000 So, grass bring forth grass, herb bring forth other herb, and apple tree produce apple trees, right? 29:51.000 --> 29:55.000 So, everything bring forth after its own kind. Look at verse 21, 29:55.000 --> 30:01.000 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, 30:01.000 --> 30:08.000 after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind, and God saw that it was good. 30:08.000 --> 30:11.500 That's why, that's another reason that the theory of evolution is false. 30:11.500 --> 30:16.600 because everything brings forth after his own kind. Look at verse 24, and God said 30:16.600 --> 30:21.080 let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle and 30:21.080 --> 30:25.700 creeping thing and beast of the earth after his kind and it was so. 30:25.900 --> 30:30.900 So the Bible says that everything brings forth after its own kind. 30:30.900 --> 30:34.900 Sheep produce sheep. Ephesians chapter 4. So that principle is pretty simple 30:58.440 --> 31:02.640 But somewhere along the way churches were told that you cannot reproduce 31:03.120 --> 31:08.040 Just send your young people to an institution so it can reproduce for you 31:08.320 --> 31:14.400 That's not after its own kind. The result is that churches send away their best young people 31:14.680 --> 31:17.380 And then wonder why they have no workers 31:18.000 --> 31:24.840 Okay, so let me just give you some points this morning on why Bible college is a scam point number one 31:25.700 --> 31:29.700 God gave the training of ministers to the local church. 31:29.700 --> 31:32.700 God gave the training of ministers to the local church. 31:32.700 --> 31:36.700 Okay, if you read chapter 4, verse number 11, again, let's read this passage again. 31:36.700 --> 31:42.700 And He gave some apostles and some prophets and some evangelists and some pastors and teachers 31:42.700 --> 31:48.700 for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. 31:48.700 --> 31:53.700 Notice why God gave those human leaders, why God gave pastors and teachers. 31:53.700 --> 31:56.780 and other leaders. 31:56.780 --> 31:59.580 And that was not merely to preach salvation sermons 31:59.580 --> 32:01.060 every single Sunday. 32:01.060 --> 32:03.700 Their goal is not merely to comfort the congregation. 32:03.700 --> 32:07.460 Their goal is not merely to visit the sick. 32:07.460 --> 32:11.980 They are given to perfect the saints, perfect the saints. 32:11.980 --> 32:15.540 That's why churches should not be preaching salvation sermons 32:15.540 --> 32:16.860 every single Sunday. 32:16.860 --> 32:20.020 Their goal is to make the Christians complete. 32:20.020 --> 32:21.660 Their goal is to for the 32:21.700 --> 32:27.780 work of the ministry, train people up to work, train people up for the ministry and for the 32:27.780 --> 32:34.500 edifying of the body of Christ. That's talking about the saved to build the saints up, right? 32:34.500 --> 32:37.500 From the Bible, you know, everything needs to be taught. 32:38.000 --> 32:40.920 by those human leaders. 32:40.920 --> 32:46.280 And who is supposed to prepare Christians for the ministry? 32:46.280 --> 32:49.800 The pastors, the evangelists, the teachers, right? 32:49.800 --> 32:53.040 Now you can say that when the Bible talks about teachers 32:53.040 --> 32:56.720 here, it's talking about Bible college teachers. 32:56.720 --> 33:00.640 But the context is the church. 33:00.640 --> 33:03.620 The pastor should not merely preach sermons. 33:03.620 --> 33:06.000 The pastor should produce servants of the Lord. 33:06.000 --> 33:11.160 Lord, okay? Because that's for the work of the ministry and you know the leaders 33:11.160 --> 33:15.720 should train soul winners, he should train teachers, he should train future deacons 33:15.720 --> 33:19.500 and future evangelists and future missionaries, he should train other 33:19.500 --> 33:25.380 preachers, he should train future pastors because everything is is you know 33:25.380 --> 33:29.680 encompassed by the work of the ministry, right? Apostle Paul taught the whole council of God. Apostle Paul said in 39:50.200 --> 39:54.840 Acts chapter 20 verse 20, and how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you. 39:55.400 --> 40:01.500 Acts 20 27 says, for I have not shunned to declare unto you all the council of God. 40:01.600 --> 40:07.000 Notice Paul did not say, hey I taught you the basic doctrines, but you will need to 40:07.000 --> 40:12.400 enroll at Jerusalem Bible Institute to get a deeper doctrine. 40:12.400 --> 40:16.220 You know Paul said, I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. 40:16.220 --> 40:18.320 He kept back nothing profitable, right? 40:18.320 --> 40:22.960 He declared all the counsel of God, he taught publicly, he taught from house to house, he 40:22.960 --> 40:28.880 taught the congregation, and a pastor who refuses to teach doctrine and then send his 40:28.880 --> 40:29.520 people to 40:29.600 --> 40:34.300 Bible college to learn doctrine has neglected his basic duty to preach the 40:34.300 --> 40:38.600 whole council of God. Don't miss this manner of life 44:35.300 --> 44:38.800 Purpose, faith, long-suffering, charity, patience, 44:38.800 --> 44:42.840 persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, 44:42.840 --> 44:47.180 at Iconium, at Lystra, were persecutions I endured, 44:47.180 --> 44:50.300 but out of them all the Lord delivered me." 44:50.300 --> 44:55.040 So notice Timothy did not only know Paul's doctrine, right? 44:55.040 --> 44:57.780 Because leaders should preach the doctrine, 44:57.780 --> 45:00.640 but Timothy also knew Paul's manner of life. 45:01.600 --> 45:05.800 That's something most Bible colleges cannot teach. 45:05.800 --> 45:09.000 Because a professor can teach notes and theories, 45:09.000 --> 45:12.960 but a pastor working beside young people 45:12.960 --> 45:15.700 can teach them the manner of life. 45:16.100 --> 45:18.860 You know, that's the work of the ministry, right? 45:18.860 --> 45:21.060 Because ministry is not just information. 45:21.060 --> 45:22.460 It's not just doctrines. 45:22.460 --> 45:24.980 Ministry is character, right? 45:24.980 --> 45:27.500 And ministry is conduct, conviction, 45:27.500 --> 45:31.540 how we handle oppositions, compassion, endurance, 45:31.540 --> 45:32.340 persecutions. 45:32.340 --> 45:34.660 I mean, ministry is all of it. 45:34.660 --> 45:37.300 Go to 1 Kings chapter 19, 1 Kings chapter 19. 45:40.000 --> 45:43.180 And I can say, in less than three years of this church 45:43.180 --> 45:47.320 plan, we as a church and the IRS and evangelists 45:47.320 --> 45:51.200 have endured a lot, probably more than some average churches 45:51.200 --> 45:53.680 have in their whole lifetime. 45:53.680 --> 45:56.120 And I hope I have a good influence on you 45:56.120 --> 45:58.880 when you watch me dealing with all kinds of issues. 45:58.880 --> 46:01.040 But this is ministry, right? 46:01.040 --> 46:04.280 And if all the young people here left me and just 46:04.280 --> 46:07.080 went to Bible colleges, they will miss all the fun. 46:08.500 --> 46:10.860 And who will be here to support the church 46:10.860 --> 46:15.300 during the tough times if every young people are just gone? 46:15.300 --> 46:21.580 So in 1 Kings chapter 19, verse 21, 1 Kings 19, 21 says this. 46:21.580 --> 46:24.940 And he, Elijah, returned back from him. 46:25.300 --> 46:32.180 and took a yoke of oxen and slew them and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen 46:32.180 --> 46:39.540 and gave unto the people and they did eat. Then he arose, noticed and went after Elijah and 46:39.540 --> 46:48.100 ministered unto him." Elijah, you know, served Elijah, right? Again, we see some apprenticeship 46:48.100 --> 46:52.180 going on. Why should I trust them? 51:11.800 --> 51:13.800 Why should I give them money? Okay? 51:13.800 --> 51:16.800 Go to 1 Peter chapter 5. 1 Peter chapter 5. 51:16.800 --> 51:21.800 So that's point number one.
