The Bible says, for thus saith the high and lofty one that inhabiteth eternity, whose

13:18.300 --> 13:23.560
name is holy, I dwell in the high and holy place with him also that is of a contrite

13:23.560 --> 13:29.180
and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the

13:29.180 --> 13:30.820
contrite ones.

13:30.820 --> 13:37.460

14:57.280 --> 14:59.280

15:05.600 --> 15:06.400
kind of challenging.

15:06.400 --> 15:12.400
So just so you are aware, and there will be a massive crowd with the freshman orientation.

15:12.400 --> 15:15.000
So please join us if you're able to.

15:15.000 --> 15:18.280
And maybe get there a little bit early just to find the parking space.

15:18.900 --> 15:22.600

15:31.000 --> 15:34.000
September 5th is a Labor Day weekend just so you are aware.

15:34.800 --> 15:40.400

15:40.400 --> 15:45.960
And then on August 30th, that's the last Sunday this month, during the afternoon service,

15:45.960 --> 15:47.900

So it's a great time for you to practice preaching.

15:59.400 --> 16:03.560
and please stay faithful in your tithe and offerings.

Also freely given, wooing us to heaven.

17:43.300 --> 17:51.700
Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.

17:51.700 --> 17:59.900
Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.

17:59.900 --> 18:02.900
Sweetly echo the God-

18:02.900 --> 18:14.300

18:14.300 --> 18:16.700
of life.

18:16.900 --> 18:25.400
Jesus only Savior, sanctify forever.

18:25.400 --> 18:33.800
Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.

18:33.800 --> 18:41.500
Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.

18:41.500 --> 18:43.500
Alright ushers, please come up.

18:44.400 --> 18:46.400
Brother Matthew, can you please pray for the offering?

19:38.200 --> 19:41.500
Alright, we'll be in Psalm 85 this morning.

19:41.500 --> 19:42.900
Psalm 85.

19:44.680 --> 19:46.280
If anyone just needs a Bible, raise your hand

19:46.280 --> 19:47.800
and Usher will give one to you.

19:47.800 --> 19:48.940
Psalm 85.

19:50.020 --> 19:52.020
Just follow on, the chapter will be read.

19:53.720 --> 19:55.980
Psalm 85, the Bible Reads.

19:56.100 --> 19:59.880
Lord, thou hast been favorable unto thy land.

19:59.880 --> 20:02.880
Thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

20:02.880 --> 20:06.280
Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people.

20:06.280 --> 20:09.280
Thou hast covered all their sin.

20:09.280 --> 20:10.280
Say, O, ah.

20:10.280 --> 20:12.960
Thou hast taken away all thy wrath.

20:12.960 --> 20:16.960
Thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

20:16.960 --> 20:22.040
Turn us, O God, of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

20:22.700 --> 20:25.020
Will thou be angry with us forever?

20:25.020 --> 20:29.500
Will thou draw out thy anger to all generations?

20:29.500 --> 20:34.560
Will thou not revive us again, and that thy people may rejoice in thee?

20:34.560 --> 20:39.060
Show us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.

20:39.060 --> 20:44.740
I will hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace unto his people and

20:44.740 --> 20:48.820
to his saints, but let them not turn again to folly.

20:49.200 --> 20:56.300
Surely his salvation is nigh, them that fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.

20:56.300 --> 21:02.720
Mercy and truth are met together, righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

21:02.720 --> 21:07.360
shall strain out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven."

21:07.800 --> 21:12.880
Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good and our land shall yield her increase

21:13.560 --> 21:20.800
Righteousness shall go before him and shall set us in the way of his steps brother. Jericho's brace in the service

21:32.200 --> 21:32.700
Amen.

21:32.700 --> 21:37.000
In Psalm chapter 85, look at verse number 6, Psalm 85-6.

21:37.000 --> 21:39.800
The Bible says, will thou not revive us again,

21:39.800 --> 21:43.160
that thy people may rejoice in thee?

21:43.160 --> 21:47.480
And the title of the sermon this morning is Revival Meetings.

21:47.480 --> 21:48.320
Revival Meetings.

21:48.320 --> 21:50.200
Welcome to the Revival Meeting.

21:50.200 --> 21:52.560
Now, a Revival Meeting is usually

21:52.560 --> 21:56.880
when a church invites a special speaker, a guest preacher,

21:56.880 --> 21:59.920
to preach sermons, to inspire church members to do a

21:59.920 --> 22:00.200
about.

22:00.200 --> 22:02.840
to get out with God, and within the Baptist circle,

22:02.840 --> 22:07.040
this can usually last up to a week, every night of the week.

22:07.040 --> 22:11.040
And who has heard of the revival meetings?

22:11.040 --> 22:13.200
And who has been to those meetings?

22:13.400 --> 22:17.240
you know, who has been through some camp meetings, youth camp,

22:17.240 --> 22:19.360
family camp, women's camp, whatever.

22:19.360 --> 22:20.140
OK.

22:20.140 --> 22:23.160
So we got several people that's familiar with the concept.

22:23.160 --> 22:24.840
Now, the concept of the revival meeting

22:24.840 --> 22:26.960
is actually now found in the Bible.

22:26.960 --> 22:30.200
So I tried to look up the origin of those revival meetings.

22:30.200 --> 22:32.360
And obviously, revival is in the Bible,

22:32.360 --> 22:34.760
but the revival meeting is now found in the Bible.

22:34.760 --> 22:36.760
But that doesn't mean they are always wrong, right?

22:36.760 --> 22:39.240
So that's why I want to look at the origins.

22:39.240 --> 22:41.400
So the idea began during the first year

22:41.400 --> 22:46.200
great awakening that's during the 1730 to the 1740 period.

22:46.700 --> 22:50.580
And preachers like Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield

22:50.580 --> 22:52.660
traveled from town to town preaching.

22:52.660 --> 22:55.180
And that's when the idea started.

22:55.180 --> 23:00.300
And the characteristics can be extended preaching meetings,

23:00.300 --> 23:03.900
multiple nights, multiple sermons over several days,

23:03.900 --> 23:08.060
large crowds, and heavy emphasis on conversion.

23:08.060 --> 23:10.580
And then when we reached the second awakening,

23:10.580 --> 23:14.700
the second great awakening in the 1800s,

23:14.700 --> 23:19.700
that's when the camp meetings became more popularized

23:19.700 --> 23:26.700
and thousands of people may gather together for several days of preaching, singing, prayers, testimonies,

23:26.700 --> 23:28.700
and many people professed faith.

23:28.700 --> 23:32.700
And during this period of time, in the second great awakening period,

23:32.700 --> 23:36.700
churches began intentionally schedule special meetings,

23:36.700 --> 23:41.700
you know, inviting the guest preachers just to encourage repentance.

23:42.200 --> 23:45.540
And then there's a guy named Charles Finley.

23:45.540 --> 23:48.640
He basically popularized this revival meeting concept

23:48.640 --> 23:53.600
in the early 1800s, and he introduced what he called

23:53.600 --> 23:57.040
the new measures, which include prolonged meetings,

23:57.040 --> 24:00.400
public invitations, the anxious bench.

24:00.400 --> 24:02.140
Who has heard the anxious bench?

24:02.140 --> 24:02.200
you

24:02.400 --> 24:09.140
Okay, one guy. So basically that's a specific bench at the front of a church for people who feel

24:09.860 --> 24:16.860
deep spiritual distress to sit just to receive intense and focused prayer and guidance.

24:16.860 --> 24:20.820
Okay, so basically the bench at the front of the church. So the anxious bench,

24:21.420 --> 24:24.680
emotional appeals, heavy emphasis on immediate

24:25.200 --> 24:29.880
decisions, and many conservative Baptists,

24:29.880 --> 24:35.840
even though they may reject Charles Finlay's theology,

24:35.840 --> 24:38.760
especially his views on salvation,

24:38.760 --> 24:40.680
but some of his meeting methods stay,

24:40.680 --> 24:44.000
prolonged meetings, heavy repentance, and things

24:44.000 --> 24:44.500
like that.

24:45.400 --> 24:54.000
And then we have the different evangelists in the late 1800s to the early 1900s became more common.

24:54.000 --> 24:57.000
Traveling evangelists became common.

24:57.000 --> 25:03.000
People like D.L. Moody and Billy Sunday kind of make this idea more popular.

25:03.000 --> 25:11.400
And churches would invite maybe a traveling evangelist for one week, two weeks, sometimes even longer.

25:11.400 --> 25:13.400
And by the mid-1900s...

25:13.400 --> 25:18.400
this kind of revival meetings almost become an institution.

25:20.480 --> 25:22.880
So a typical schedule usually is like Sunday

25:22.880 --> 25:25.160
through Wednesday, Sunday through Friday,

25:25.160 --> 25:28.360
Monday through Friday, and then the guest preacher

25:28.360 --> 25:30.640
will preach every night.

25:30.640 --> 25:34.440
And really the goals is to motivate people to be holy,

25:34.440 --> 25:37.100
is to encourage soul winning, is to strengthen the church,

25:37.100 --> 25:39.020
is to see people safe.

25:39.500 --> 25:44.140
So that's the brief history of the revival meeting.

25:44.140 --> 25:47.060
Now as Baptists, we must view everything

25:47.060 --> 25:48.740
in light of the Bible.

25:48.740 --> 25:52.380
To me, there's nothing unbiblical about inviting

25:52.380 --> 25:53.460
another preacher.

25:53.460 --> 25:57.420
There's nothing unbiblical about holding additional services.

25:57.420 --> 26:00.260
There's nothing unbiblical about preaching every night.

26:00.260 --> 26:02.140
In fact, we need more preaching, amen?

26:02.140 --> 26:06.460
There's nothing unbiblical about emphasizing repentance

26:06.460 --> 26:07.460
as well as.

26:07.500 --> 26:14.540
holiness. Now I believe there are good things coming out of this so-called revival meeting. I'm not going to say every

26:15.140 --> 26:18.720
revival meeting and you know every camp preacher is bad, okay?

26:19.020 --> 26:23.480
However this morning, let's look at what a biblical revival

26:23.780 --> 26:29.740
looked like because I want to submit to you that the general revival meeting culture is trash.

26:30.500 --> 26:35.300
Okay, so point number one, the biblical definition of revival.

26:35.300 --> 26:37.440
The biblical definition of revival.

26:37.440 --> 26:39.440
Psalm 85, we'll look at verse number six again.

26:40.000 --> 26:43.580
The Bible says, will thou not revive us again,

26:43.580 --> 26:47.420
that thy people may rejoice in thee.

26:47.420 --> 26:51.460
That's the most popular verse when people talk about revival.

26:51.460 --> 26:56.680
In fact, before a typical camp meeting, revival meeting,

26:56.680 --> 26:58.900
the preacher will usually use this verse

26:58.900 --> 27:00.600
just to get people ready for that, right?

27:00.600 --> 27:02.880
Will thou not revive us again?

27:02.880 --> 27:05.120
Now, what does the word revive mean?

27:05.120 --> 27:08.000
The same Hebrew word is also translated to.

27:08.000 --> 27:13.920
You know, live, alive, save, quicken, life, surely,

27:13.920 --> 27:16.120
and recover.

27:16.120 --> 27:19.880
So you kind of can get a basic idea of what revival means.

27:19.880 --> 27:21.400
To revive simply means to.

27:22.200 --> 27:26.080
to recover life and to return to life,

27:26.080 --> 27:29.740
or to recover new life, okay?

27:29.740 --> 27:31.880
And if you know Spanish,

27:31.880 --> 27:34.360
vivir means to live, right?

27:34.360 --> 27:37.260
And then we have the prefix re means again,

27:37.260 --> 27:40.420
so the word literally means to live again,

27:40.420 --> 27:42.880
to restore to life.

27:42.880 --> 27:45.420
Now obviously during the revival meetings,

27:45.420 --> 27:47.780
people are not brought back to life physically.

27:48.000 --> 27:52.020
unless they are some fake, phony, Pentecostal, false prophet,

27:52.020 --> 27:54.360
faking miracles.

27:54.360 --> 27:56.960
And when people speak of the rival meetings,

27:56.960 --> 27:58.900
they meant a spiritual.

27:58.900 --> 28:10.200
Revival. That means for the lost to be saved, made alive spiritually speaking, or for the saved to renew their love and passion for God.

28:10.200 --> 28:18.400
There's nothing wrong with this definition. In fact, Psalm 85, verse number 6, does use this word in a spiritual sense,

28:18.400 --> 28:26.800
because the psalmist was saying, will thou not revive us again? Right? It's talking about renew the saved.

28:26.900 --> 28:29.600
So let's actually go to Psalm 119.

28:29.600 --> 28:31.660
Psalm 119.

28:31.660 --> 28:33.020
We will not read the whole chapter.

28:33.020 --> 28:35.340
Go to Psalm 119.

28:35.340 --> 28:39.140
Now let's look at what the Bible teaches about revival

28:39.140 --> 28:42.180
or the quickening, because these are the same words, right?

28:42.180 --> 28:45.780
To make alive, to recover new life.

28:45.780 --> 28:48.660
Psalm 119, look at verse 25.

28:48.660 --> 28:50.860
Psalm 119, verse 25.

28:50.860 --> 28:51.780
The Bible says this.

28:52.700 --> 28:55.700
my soul cleaveth unto the dust,

28:55.700 --> 29:00.460
quicken thou me according to thy word."

29:00.460 --> 29:02.200
Notice what is the quickening,

29:02.200 --> 29:04.300
what is the revival connected to?

29:04.300 --> 29:08.640
The Bible says according to the word of God,

29:08.640 --> 29:10.900
not according to the music,

29:10.900 --> 29:12.680
not according to a conference,

29:12.680 --> 29:14.640
not according to emotions,

29:14.640 --> 29:17.080
but according to thy word.

29:17.080 --> 29:20.080
Look at verse 37, Psalm 119 verse 37.

29:20.700 --> 29:27.740
The Bible says, turn away my eyes from beholding vanity and quicken thou me in thy way, the

29:27.740 --> 29:29.600
way of the Lord.

29:29.600 --> 29:36.980
Look at verse 40, behold I have longed after thy precepts, quicken me in thy righteousness.

29:36.980 --> 29:43.060
Verse 50, this is my comfort in my affliction for thy word hath quickened me.

29:43.060 --> 29:46.220
Look at Psalm 119 verse 93.

29:46.220 --> 29:48.700
I will never forget thy precepts.

29:48.700 --> 29:53.020
For with them, the precepts, thou hast quickened me.

29:53.020 --> 29:55.180
Look at verse 107.

29:55.180 --> 29:57.340
I am afflicted very much.

29:57.340 --> 30:01.580
Quicken me, O Lord, according unto thy word.

30:01.580 --> 30:03.620
Look at verse 149.

30:03.620 --> 30:05.540
Psalm 119, 149.

30:05.540 --> 30:08.820
Hear my voice according unto thy loving kindness,

30:08.820 --> 30:12.700
O Lord, quicken me according to thy judgment.

30:12.900 --> 30:16.340
Last verse, verse 154.

30:16.340 --> 30:18.660
Plead my cause and deliver me.

30:18.660 --> 30:22.540
Quicken me according to thy word.

30:22.540 --> 30:24.420
Have I made my point yet?

30:24.420 --> 30:26.900
Revival comes from the word.

30:26.900 --> 30:29.420
Revival comes from God's righteousness.

30:29.420 --> 30:33.580
Revival comes from the judgment of God.

30:33.580 --> 30:36.100
So that's the most important concept.

30:36.100 --> 30:37.940
Now go back to Psalm 85.

30:37.940 --> 30:38.540
Psalm 85.

30:39.800 --> 30:46.280
Now Psalm 85, like I said, is the most popular passage about revival because it has the famous

30:46.280 --> 30:52.200
verse in verse number six, without not revive us again. And I like this psalm because it actually

30:52.200 --> 30:58.200
gives us the recipe for revival. Let's look at verse one, Psalm 85 verse one.

30:59.200 --> 31:00.200
The Bible says this,

31:00.200 --> 31:04.200
Lord, thou hast been, thou hast been favorable unto thy land.

31:04.200 --> 31:07.200
Thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

31:07.200 --> 31:10.200
Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people.

31:10.200 --> 31:12.200
Thou hast covered all their sin.

31:12.200 --> 31:14.200
Thou hast taken away all thy wrath.

31:14.200 --> 31:18.200
Thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

31:19.300 --> 31:23.700
So notice verse 1, 2, and 3 talks about the past, right?

31:23.700 --> 31:27.180
Because God has been favorable, God has brought them back,

31:27.180 --> 31:30.080
God has forgiven, God has covered their sin,

31:30.080 --> 31:32.640
God has taken away his wrath,

31:32.640 --> 31:37.740
and God has turned himself from the fierceness of his anger, okay?

31:37.740 --> 31:42.980
So before the psalmist asked God for revival in verse number 6,

31:42.980 --> 31:47.100
he began by appealing to God's past faithfulness.

31:47.300 --> 31:48.020
Right?

31:48.020 --> 31:52.380
The psalmist began by appealing to God's past mercy.

31:52.380 --> 31:56.780
Because verse 1, 2, and 3 all talk about God's past

31:56.780 --> 31:58.020
faithfulness.

31:58.020 --> 32:00.100
Then the psalmist is going to move on

32:00.100 --> 32:01.180
to talk about the present.

32:01.180 --> 32:02.200
Look at verse number 4.

32:02.400 --> 32:06.560
Turn us, O God, of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

32:06.560 --> 32:08.760
Woull thou be angry with us for ever?

32:08.760 --> 32:11.520
Woull thou draw out thine anger to all generations?

32:11.520 --> 32:16.320
Woull thou not revive us again, that thy people may, rejoicing thee,

32:16.320 --> 32:20.920
show us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation?

32:20.920 --> 32:27.360
So verse 1, 2, and 3 talks about the past, but verse 4 through 7 talks about the present.

32:27.900 --> 32:30.300
Here's one important observation.

32:30.300 --> 32:34.100
Revival is geared toward thy people.

32:34.100 --> 32:35.940
The Bible says in verse number six again,

32:35.940 --> 32:39.580
would thou not revive us again, that thy people may

32:39.580 --> 32:41.580
rejoice in thee.

32:41.580 --> 32:44.660
To apply it to nowadays, revival should

32:44.660 --> 32:46.460
be geared toward the saved.

32:46.460 --> 32:46.960
saved.

32:47.300 --> 32:55.300
And revival is also tied to confessing your sins to God and ask God for forgiveness and mercy.

32:55.300 --> 32:56.300
Right?

32:56.300 --> 32:58.300
But what's the purpose of revival?

32:58.300 --> 33:04.300
The Bible says in verse number 6, that thy people may rejoice in thee.

33:04.300 --> 33:06.000
Right? That's the purpose.

33:06.600 --> 33:10.680
So when God answers our prayers, when God heals our brokenness,

33:10.680 --> 33:15.120
when God forgives us of our sins, there will be joy.

33:15.120 --> 33:20.000
Because the purpose is joy in the Lord, not merely

33:20.000 --> 33:21.600
emotional excitement.

33:22.200 --> 33:24.280
But also notice the source of revival.

33:24.280 --> 33:25.640
Look at verse number 6 again.

33:25.640 --> 33:29.920
The Bible says, will thou not revive us again?

33:29.920 --> 33:32.000
The source is God himself.

33:32.000 --> 33:34.720
The source is not the preacher, even though the preacher may

33:34.720 --> 33:35.840
proclaim the word of God.

33:35.840 --> 33:38.480
But the source, the ultimate source is the Lord.

33:38.480 --> 33:40.320
It's not the programs.

33:40.320 --> 33:41.920
You know, it's not the music.

33:41.920 --> 33:44.120
It's not the games, but the Lord.

33:45.400 --> 33:47.240
So the Psalmists talk about the past.

33:47.240 --> 33:48.360
You talk about the present.

33:48.360 --> 33:51.520
But now he's going to move to the future, back to the future.

33:51.520 --> 33:54.000
Look at version 8, Psalm 85.

33:54.100 --> 33:56.500
Verse number eight, I will, future tense,

33:56.500 --> 34:01.260
I will hear what God the Lord will speak,

34:01.260 --> 34:05.260
for he will speak peace unto his people and to his saints,

34:05.260 --> 34:07.100
but let them not turn again to folly.

34:07.100 --> 34:10.060
Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him,

34:10.060 --> 34:12.300
that glory may dwell in our land.

34:12.300 --> 34:14.500
Mercy and truth are met together,

34:14.500 --> 34:16.700
righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

34:16.700 --> 34:18.740
Truth shall spring out of the earth,

34:18.740 --> 34:21.420
and righteousness shall look down from heaven,

34:21.420 --> 34:22.080
Yeah, the law s-

34:22.100 --> 34:25.620
shall give that which is good, and our land shall yield her

34:25.620 --> 34:28.660
increase, righteousness shall go before him,

34:28.660 --> 34:32.100
and shall set us in the way of his steps."

34:32.100 --> 34:35.540
Now, I love this future passage here,

34:35.540 --> 34:37.940
because the Psalmist fully expected

34:37.940 --> 34:41.420
God to answer his petition for revival, right?

34:41.420 --> 34:44.340
Notice verse 8 through 9 says, God will speak peace.

34:44.340 --> 34:44.600
Thanks for watching!

34:44.900 --> 34:49.740
Verse 9 through 11 contains to me one of the most beautiful

34:49.740 --> 34:51.940
passages in the Bible.

34:51.940 --> 34:54.780
It's mercy and truth are met together.

34:54.780 --> 34:57.180
Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

34:57.180 --> 34:59.980
To me, the cross is the perfect fulfillment of that.

34:59.980 --> 35:01.860
Because the cross is, like I said before,

35:01.860 --> 35:06.060
is the perfect loving God and the perfect just God meeting

35:06.060 --> 35:08.340
at a perfect intersection.

35:08.340 --> 35:09.420
That's the cross.

35:09.420 --> 35:12.900
Verse 12 and 13 talks about the result.

35:12.900 --> 35:15.620
includes God gives what is good.

35:15.620 --> 35:17.360
The land yield is increased

35:17.360 --> 35:20.640
and righteousness goes before him.

35:20.640 --> 35:25.640
So the Psalmist fully expected God to answer his petition.

35:26.300 --> 35:29.400
He prayed with full expectation.

35:30.460 --> 35:33.260
One thing I like about Psalm 85 is that

35:33.260 --> 35:38.260
this chapter does not portray revival as a scheduled event.

35:38.260 --> 35:38.760
end.

35:39.000 --> 35:40.840
This chapter does not portray revival

35:40.840 --> 35:43.340
as an engineered experience.

35:43.340 --> 35:45.360
Instead, what's the pattern?

35:45.360 --> 35:47.240
Remember God's past faithfulness.

35:47.240 --> 35:48.960
Remember God's past acts.

35:48.960 --> 35:50.380
Confess the present need.

35:50.380 --> 35:51.740
Ask God what you want right now.

35:51.740 --> 35:53.080
Confess your sins.

35:53.080 --> 35:55.260
And pray for God to restore his people.

35:55.260 --> 35:58.680
And wait expectantly for God to act.

35:58.680 --> 36:03.320
So the whole emphasis is on God's initiative

36:03.320 --> 36:05.720
through his mercy, not on techniques,

36:05.720 --> 36:06.840
not on personalities.

36:08.000 --> 36:12.080
And I submit to you that this is Biblical revival.

36:12.080 --> 36:15.160
Psalm 85 is a petition to God.

36:15.160 --> 36:19.760
So in other words, Psalm 85 is a prayer to God.

36:19.760 --> 36:21.900
Do you know what this means?

36:21.900 --> 36:25.400
This means you can have revival every single day

36:25.400 --> 36:27.040
when you pray to God.

36:27.040 --> 36:28.840
Psalm 85 is a prayer to God.

36:28.840 --> 36:30.960
The Psalm does not say, invite a prophet.

36:31.700 --> 36:35.180
Hold a special meeting, wait for a great preacher.

36:35.180 --> 36:38.980
Instead, the Psalm is entirely directed to God.

36:38.980 --> 36:42.180
In verse four, turn us, O God, of our salvation.

36:42.180 --> 36:45.860
Verse six, will thou not revive us again?

36:45.860 --> 36:48.740
Verse number seven, show us thy mercy.

36:48.740 --> 36:49.940
It's a prayer to God.

36:50.820 --> 36:55.020
That's why we don't have to wait for a special sermon,

36:55.020 --> 36:59.420
wait for a special preacher to experience revival.

37:00.600 --> 37:03.040
We don't have to go to the Red Heart Preaching Conference

37:03.040 --> 37:05.280
to get revival.

37:05.280 --> 37:07.480
We don't have to go to a week-long meeting

37:07.480 --> 37:09.400
just to get revival.

37:09.400 --> 37:12.360
We don't have to travel two hours to a youth conference

37:12.360 --> 37:13.440
to get revival.

37:13.440 --> 37:15.080
All of those special meetings are fun,

37:15.080 --> 37:17.200
but we don't have to have that.

37:17.200 --> 37:20.360
You can have that in your daily prayer life.

37:20.360 --> 37:22.200
Turn to Habakkuk chapter 3.

37:22.200 --> 37:25.440
Habakkuk chapter 3.

37:25.440 --> 37:27.600
By the way, what I've preached so far,

37:27.600 --> 37:27.900
Thanks for watching!

37:29.000 --> 37:31.920
already contains way more Bible verses than most revival

37:31.920 --> 37:32.420
creatures.

37:32.420 --> 37:34.600
Ha ha ha ha.

37:34.800 --> 37:38.040
Let me read to you Hebrews chapter 4 verse 14.

37:38.040 --> 37:40.520
Seeing then that we have a great high priest that

37:40.520 --> 37:43.360
is passed into the heavens, Jesus the son of God,

37:43.360 --> 37:45.600
let us hold fast our profession.

37:45.600 --> 37:49.040
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched

37:49.040 --> 37:51.200
with the feelings of our infirmities,

37:51.200 --> 37:54.480
but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

37:54.480 --> 37:57.760
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace

37:57.760 --> 37:58.880
that we may obtain mercy.

37:59.500 --> 38:03.500
and find grace to help in time of need.

38:03.500 --> 38:04.740
That is revival.

38:04.740 --> 38:06.700
Approach God for mercy.

38:06.700 --> 38:08.640
Approach God for grace.

38:08.640 --> 38:11.900
This may sound so simple,

38:11.900 --> 38:15.660
but the biblical recipe to have a revival

38:15.660 --> 38:17.700
for God to renew you spiritually,

38:17.700 --> 38:20.940
for God to use you better is through prayer.

38:20.940 --> 38:22.820
Remember God's past faithfulness,

38:22.820 --> 38:24.500
ask for his present help,

38:24.500 --> 38:27.420
and fully expect God to work through you.

38:28.300 --> 38:32.500
This means every time you pray to God and God strengthens you, that is revival.

38:32.500 --> 38:33.500
Right?

38:33.500 --> 38:38.800
Every time you confess your sin to God and get right with God, that is revival.

38:38.800 --> 38:45.140
Every time your joy in the Lord is renewed, that is revival.

38:45.140 --> 38:49.300
Every time you walk away from your prayer closer to God than when you came, that is

38:49.300 --> 38:50.300
revival.

38:50.300 --> 38:51.300
Right?

38:51.300 --> 38:55.660
Every time the Holy Spirit renews your zeal for the Lord, that is revival.

38:56.300 --> 39:00.540
Every time you put off your old man and put on the new man, that is revival.

39:01.660 --> 39:03.260
Every head bows and eyes closed.

39:03.260 --> 39:04.460
No, I'm kidding, I'm kidding.

39:06.220 --> 39:08.060
Yohan Kebaker chapter 3, look at verse 1.

39:09.020 --> 39:09.980
Kebaker 3.1.

39:11.260 --> 39:11.980
A prayer!

39:12.700 --> 39:14.380
Oh wow, that's a prayer.

39:14.380 --> 39:18.060
A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shiguneth.

39:18.500 --> 39:22.060
O Lord, I have heard thy speech and was afraid.

39:22.060 --> 39:25.820
O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years,

39:25.820 --> 39:28.900
in the midst of the years make known, in wrath.

39:28.900 --> 39:31.380
Remember, mercy.

39:31.380 --> 39:32.580
Have you seen the pattern?

39:33.100 --> 39:37.540
Notice the observation, you know, notice several observations.

39:37.540 --> 39:40.540
Revival is requested from God.

39:40.540 --> 39:43.260
O Lord, revive thy work.

39:43.260 --> 39:46.540
Because ultimately, God is the one who revives.

39:46.540 --> 39:48.340
Revival is God's work.

39:48.340 --> 39:51.700
Habakkuk did not say, revive our meeting.

39:51.700 --> 39:55.260
He says, revive our work and ask for mercy,

39:55.260 --> 39:57.660
which parallels with Psalm 85, right?

39:58.000 --> 40:01.600
So go to Isaiah 57, Isaiah 57.

40:07.700 --> 40:14.700
Isaiah 57. Look at verse 15. Isaiah 57, verse 15.

40:16.000 --> 40:17.260
This is our verse of the week.

40:17.260 --> 40:20.860
Isaiah 57, 15 says this, for thus saith the high and lofty

40:20.860 --> 40:25.600
one, that's God, that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is holy.

40:25.600 --> 40:28.060
I dwell in the high and holy place with him also,

40:28.060 --> 40:30.720
that is of a contrite and humble spirit,

40:30.720 --> 40:33.040
to revive the spirit of the humble

40:33.040 --> 40:36.440
and to revive the heart of the contrite one.

40:36.440 --> 40:38.280
Have you noticed a pattern already?

40:38.280 --> 40:39.640
Revival doesn't come from hype.

40:40.100 --> 40:43.760
Revival comes from being humble and being contrite.

40:43.760 --> 40:49.100
Revival comes from being broken and full of repentance.

40:49.100 --> 40:50.720
That is revival.

40:50.720 --> 40:54.720
So the biblical definition and pattern for a revival

40:54.720 --> 40:58.000
is sourced in the word of God, and that is usually

40:58.000 --> 41:01.160
prayed for with a humble heart.

41:01.160 --> 41:03.120
Now go to 2 Kings chapter 22.

41:03.120 --> 41:04.600
2 Kings 22.

41:08.200 --> 41:09.640
Second King 22.

41:09.640 --> 41:13.640
So I said point number one, the biblical definition

41:13.640 --> 41:15.200
of revival.

41:15.200 --> 41:18.880
Point number two, revivals in the Bible.

41:18.880 --> 41:20.320
Revivals in the Bible.

41:20.320 --> 41:23.040
Let me just give you a couple of stories

41:23.040 --> 41:27.560
about the actual revivals taking place in the Bible.

41:27.560 --> 41:30.920
Second King 22, look at verse one.

41:30.920 --> 41:34.440
Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign.

41:34.800 --> 41:37.400
Josiah became a dictator when he was only eight years old.

41:38.100 --> 41:41.060
And he reigned 30 and 1 years in Jerusalem.

41:41.060 --> 41:44.100
And his mother's name was Jadaida, the daughter

41:44.100 --> 41:46.340
of Adaea of Boscap.

41:46.340 --> 41:49.420
And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord

41:49.420 --> 41:51.720
and walking all the way of David his father

41:51.720 --> 41:54.660
and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

41:54.660 --> 41:57.700
So verse 1 and 2 told me Josiah was a good king.

41:57.700 --> 42:00.300
Josiah walked after King David.

42:00.300 --> 42:02.900
And Josiah, like we will see later,

42:02.900 --> 42:05.900
Jose did the best he could without...

42:06.100 --> 42:08.260
the word of God, without the word of God.

42:08.260 --> 42:12.100
But one day he heard the word of God being read.

42:12.100 --> 42:14.220
Look at verse number eight.

42:14.220 --> 42:18.820
And Heukah the high priest said unto Shefen the scribe,

42:18.820 --> 42:21.340
I found the book of the law in the house of the Lord.

42:21.700 --> 42:24.700
and Hilkiah gave the book to Shea Fenn and he read it.

42:24.700 --> 42:26.200
And Shea Fenn the scribe came to the king

42:26.200 --> 42:28.100
and brought the king word again and said,

42:28.100 --> 42:30.100
thy servants have gathered the money

42:30.100 --> 42:33.500
that was found in the house and have delivered it

42:33.500 --> 42:35.860
into the hand of them that do the work,

42:35.860 --> 42:38.800
that have the oversight of the house of the Lord.

42:38.800 --> 42:41.300
And Shea Fenn the scribe showed the king saying,

42:41.300 --> 42:44.000
Hilkiah the priest had delivered me a book

42:44.000 --> 42:46.840
and Shea Fenn read it before the king.

42:46.840 --> 42:49.700
So they found the book of the law and Shea Fenn.

42:49.700 --> 42:54.200
and the scribe read it before King Josiah.

42:54.200 --> 42:58.860
So I submit to you that this is where revival begins.

42:58.860 --> 43:01.180
Not with music, not with a guest speaker,

43:01.180 --> 43:06.180
not with a campaign, but again with the word of the Lord.

43:06.180 --> 43:09.540
Now sometimes God's word is delivered by a preacher,

43:09.540 --> 43:11.780
but the source is not the preacher, but the word.

43:11.780 --> 43:12.660
Look at verse number 11.

43:13.300 --> 43:21.300
And it came to pass when the king had heard the words of the book of the law that he rent his clothes.

43:22.300 --> 43:27.300
So it first started with a word which led to conviction.

43:28.300 --> 43:33.300
Notice Josiah the king of Israel rent his clothes meaning that he was distraught.

43:33.300 --> 43:39.300
Because he knew that as a nation they have now followed everything in the book.

43:40.300 --> 43:41.100
Look at verse number 12.

43:41.600 --> 43:48.800
And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahicham the son of Shefan, and Acreber the son of

43:48.800 --> 43:56.800
Micaiah, and Shefan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the kings, saying, Go ye, inquire of

43:56.800 --> 44:03.840
the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah concerning the words of this book that is

44:03.840 --> 44:09.600
found. What is this? That's a prayer to God, right? Inquire of the Lord for me. The Bible says,

44:09.600 --> 44:12.800
says in verse 13, for great is the wrath of the Lord

44:12.800 --> 44:16.320
that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not

44:16.320 --> 44:18.640
hearken unto the words of this book

44:18.640 --> 44:21.080
to do according unto you all that which

44:21.080 --> 44:22.800
is written concerning us.

44:22.800 --> 44:26.760
Notice Josiah humbled himself, and Josiah examined the nation,

44:26.760 --> 44:29.400
and he realized that some of the commandments

44:29.400 --> 44:30.780
were not being kept.

44:30.780 --> 44:37.600
So he asked those people to pray for God to.

44:37.600 --> 44:43.660
show them mercy. Does that sound familiar? About Psalm 85, right? It's a prayer to

44:43.660 --> 44:49.840
God is to ask God for mercy. Look at verse 18. But to the king of Judah, Josiah,

44:49.840 --> 44:55.520
which sent you to inquire of the Lord, thus shall ye say to him, thus saith the

44:55.520 --> 44:59.560
Lord God of Israel, as touching the words which thou hast heard, because thine

44:59.560 --> 45:00.700
heart was tender.

45:01.000 --> 45:07.240
And thou hast humbled thyself before the Lord, whom thou heardest, when I spake against this place,

45:07.240 --> 45:12.360
and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse,

45:12.360 --> 45:18.280
and hast rent thy clothes, and white before me, I also have heard thee sayeth the Lord."

45:18.280 --> 45:23.800
So because King Josiah took heed to God's commandments and realized that they have sinned,

45:23.800 --> 45:28.120
and he asked God for mercy, God heard his prayer and granted him mercy.

45:28.700 --> 45:30.540
Josiah was being humbled, right?

45:30.540 --> 45:34.780
Josiah was broken because they have offended the holy God.

45:34.780 --> 45:36.540
Look at verse number 20.

45:36.540 --> 45:39.500
Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers,

45:39.500 --> 45:43.580
and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace.

45:43.580 --> 45:46.620
And then eyes shall not see all the evil

45:46.620 --> 45:48.620
which I will bring upon this place,

45:48.620 --> 45:51.500
and they brought the king word again.

45:52.380 --> 45:55.340
So ladies and gentlemen, this is revival.

45:56.300 --> 46:00.740
Revival is when you hear the word of God being preached.

46:00.740 --> 46:03.820
Revival is when you read your Bible every single day,

46:03.820 --> 46:07.460
that you realize that you have not kept this book perfectly,

46:07.460 --> 46:11.300
and you ask God for mercy, and you are being humble,

46:11.300 --> 46:13.900
and God strengthens you, and God grants you mercy.

46:13.900 --> 46:15.780
That is revival.

46:15.780 --> 46:17.260
It takes humbleness.

46:17.260 --> 46:20.460
It takes genuine repentance.

46:20.460 --> 46:20.800
Okay.

46:21.100 --> 46:26.100
And don't forget, this is King Josiah, the monarch of a nation.

46:26.100 --> 46:28.100
Even he humbled himself.

46:28.100 --> 46:32.100
Now go to 2 Kings chapter 23.

46:32.100 --> 46:35.100
Look at verse 1.

46:36.100 --> 46:42.100
The Bible says, And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

46:42.100 --> 46:49.100
And the king went up into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him,

46:49.100 --> 46:54.100
and the priests and the prophets and all the people, both small and great.

46:54.100 --> 47:01.100
And he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant, which was found in the house of the Lord.

47:01.400 --> 47:05.720
And the king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the Lord to walk after the Lord,

47:05.720 --> 47:11.240
and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all

47:11.240 --> 47:16.600
their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book,

47:16.600 --> 47:19.000
and all the people stood to the covenant.

47:19.600 --> 47:26.600
So after all that, the king led the church and the king told the people about the word of God

47:26.600 --> 47:29.400
because he wanted the nation to get right.

47:29.400 --> 47:30.900
That is a good king, right?

47:30.900 --> 47:37.400
Likewise, you know, I believe the preachers nowadays need to proclaim the word of God to the church

47:37.400 --> 47:39.400
so the people can get right.

47:39.400 --> 47:45.300
And not only that, Josiah immediately put things to action.

47:45.300 --> 47:46.400
Look at verse number four.

47:46.600 --> 48:00.600
And the king commanded Heokiah the high priest, and the priest of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the girl, and for all the hosts of heaven.

48:00.600 --> 48:07.600
And he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Chidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.

48:07.600 --> 48:09.400
So revival.

48:09.500 --> 48:15.500
produces obedience in that King Josiah got rid of the idols, right?

48:15.500 --> 48:17.500
But that's not enough. Look at verse number five.

48:17.500 --> 48:24.500
And he put down the idolatrous priest, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense.

48:24.900 --> 48:29.860
in the high places in the cities of Judah and in the places around about Jerusalem

48:29.860 --> 48:35.780
then also that burned incense unto Baal to the sun and to the moon and to the planets and to all

48:35.780 --> 48:43.780
the hosts of heaven. So King Josiah got rid of the idols but King Josiah also put down those false

48:43.780 --> 48:49.780
preach. The Bible does not say, the Bible is not saying that he tackled them.

48:50.300 --> 48:55.340
When the Bible says he put down those priests, that means he put them to death.

48:55.340 --> 48:59.100
He put down those idolatrous priests.

48:59.100 --> 49:04.060
Because, because they are worshipping other gods, right?

49:04.060 --> 49:08.860
You know, I believe that's what the government ought to do for our nation to have revival.

49:08.860 --> 49:13.940
Put those Catholic priests, Orthodox priests, Muslim Imams to death.

49:13.940 --> 49:15.540
We'll cover number six.

49:16.500 --> 49:17.640
But that's not enough.

49:17.640 --> 49:18.740
Verse number 6.

49:18.740 --> 49:21.500
And he brought out the girl from the house of the Lord

49:21.500 --> 49:24.380
without Jerusalem unto the brook Hydra,

49:24.380 --> 49:26.540
and burned it at the brook Hydra,

49:26.540 --> 49:30.140
and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder

49:30.140 --> 49:33.300
upon the graves of the children of the people.

49:33.300 --> 49:36.100
And he break down the houses of the Sodomites.

49:36.200 --> 49:41.000
that will buy the house of the Lord, where the women will hang for the growth.

49:41.000 --> 49:45.080
You know what? In order for our nation to have revival,

49:45.080 --> 49:48.520
the government needs to destroy every house of the sodomites.

49:49.240 --> 49:52.440
That is revival, right? Because Josiah repented,

49:52.440 --> 49:58.760
Josiah got right with God, and Josiah produced obedience due to the word of God.

50:00.600 --> 50:05.600
See the Bible story in the Bible is consistent with Psalm 85.

50:05.600 --> 50:09.360
It's consistent with Psalm 119.

50:09.360 --> 50:13.000
That revival is centered on the word of God,

50:13.000 --> 50:16.800
and revival takes place when someone is humble enough

50:16.800 --> 50:22.720
to petition to God for mercy and actually obeys what God says.

50:22.720 --> 50:25.000
Now go to Nehemiah chapter 8.

50:25.000 --> 50:27.240
Nehemiah chapter 8.

50:30.100 --> 50:31.620
Look at verse 1.

50:35.800 --> 50:41.080
In Nehemiah chapter 8 verse number 1, the Bible says this,

50:41.080 --> 50:46.920
And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the

50:46.920 --> 50:53.400
Water Gate, and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses,

50:53.400 --> 51:01.480
which the Lord had commanded to Ezra. I like this, because the people ask Ezra for the scriptures.

51:02.280 --> 51:03.080
That's pretty cool.

51:03.500 --> 51:08.500
I mean, I wish more church people would ask for more Bible preaching, right?

51:08.500 --> 51:09.500
Look at verse number two.

51:09.500 --> 51:14.500
And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation, both of men and women, and

51:14.500 --> 51:20.500
all that you could hear with understanding upon the first day of the seventh month.

51:20.500 --> 51:25.740
And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning

51:25.740 --> 51:27.420
until midday.

51:27.420 --> 51:28.500
That's a long Bible reading.

51:29.300 --> 51:33.380
So the people asked for scriptures as we read them.

51:33.380 --> 51:36.140
And the people, at the end of verse number three,

51:36.140 --> 51:42.860
and the people were attentive onto the book of the law.

51:42.860 --> 51:47.620
The people listened to the scriptures attentively.

51:47.620 --> 51:50.420
So I hope when you go to church, you

51:50.420 --> 51:53.180
expect to hear the word of God being preached,

51:53.180 --> 51:56.820
and you actually expect to be changed by the word of God.

51:57.500 --> 52:00.880
So I hope when you listen to the preaching of the word of God,

52:00.880 --> 52:04.060
you listen attentively.

52:04.060 --> 52:06.140
Look at verse number four, Nehemiah 8.4.

52:06.140 --> 52:10.260
And Ezra, the scribe, stood upon a pulpit of wood.

52:10.260 --> 52:12.380
That's why we don't have a glass pulpit,

52:12.380 --> 52:14.780
because that's what Ezra did, right?

52:14.780 --> 52:18.220
So verse number five, and Ezra opened the book

52:18.220 --> 52:20.820
in the sight of all the people.

52:20.820 --> 52:22.100
What's the focus again?

52:22.100 --> 52:23.780
The word of God.

52:23.780 --> 52:24.460
Verse number seven.

52:25.300 --> 52:30.300
and Jeshua and Baena and Shabbatai, Jamin, Akkab, Shabbatai

52:30.400 --> 52:37.360
Hadija, Masiya, Kalita, Azariah, Josephette, Hanen, Palaea, and Levites,

52:37.360 --> 52:42.480
caused the people to understand the law and the people stood in their place. So they read in the

52:42.480 --> 52:48.800
book, in the law of God distinctly and gave the sense and caused them to understand the reading.

52:48.800 --> 52:54.560
Not only they read the word of God, but they also explained the word of God. They helped people to

52:54.560 --> 52:57.200
understand the word of God, that is Bible preaching.

52:57.800 --> 53:00.440
They expounded upon the word of God.

53:00.440 --> 53:02.800
They delve into the spiritual meanings,

53:02.800 --> 53:07.600
not just some one-liners, one verse, one story,

53:07.600 --> 53:11.560
and not talking about the deep meaning of the word of God.

53:11.560 --> 53:12.560
Verse number nine.

53:13.000 --> 53:19.920
And Nehemiah, which is the Tashatha, and Ezra the priest, the scribe, and the Levites that

53:19.920 --> 53:25.200
taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the Lord your God,

53:25.200 --> 53:26.920
more not, nor weep.

53:26.920 --> 53:32.580
For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.

53:32.580 --> 53:35.780
Notice the results from hearing the word of God.

53:35.780 --> 53:37.840
People wept because they got convicted.

53:38.300 --> 53:40.420
Again, sounds very familiar, right?

53:40.420 --> 53:41.540
Book of verse number 10.

53:41.540 --> 53:44.220
Then he said unto them, go your way, eat the fat,

53:44.220 --> 53:45.500
and drink the sweet.

53:45.500 --> 53:49.140
That's why sometimes we go out to eat after the service.

53:49.140 --> 53:51.300
Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet.

53:51.300 --> 53:55.820
And the same portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared,

53:55.820 --> 53:58.660
for this day is holy unto our Lord.

53:58.660 --> 54:00.820
Neither be sorry, don't miss this,

54:00.820 --> 54:04.460
for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

54:05.500 --> 54:11.500
Don't miss the pattern. They heard the word of God, they wept, they got convicted, and then they rejoiced.

54:11.500 --> 54:14.500
What does Psalm 85 verse 6 say?

54:14.500 --> 54:19.200
Will thou not revive us again, that thy people may rejoice in thee?

54:20.300 --> 54:24.300
Because when God heal your broken heart, when God forgives you of your sin, there will be joy.

54:24.300 --> 54:26.300
That is revival. That's the result of revival.

54:26.300 --> 54:30.300
Let me read to you Psalm 34 verse 17.

54:30.300 --> 54:36.300
The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

54:36.300 --> 54:44.300
The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

54:44.300 --> 54:48.300
When you are broken and when you come before God and after God

54:48.300 --> 54:50.620
heals you after God forgives you,

54:50.620 --> 54:55.060
you will experience joy unspeakable and full of glory.

54:55.060 --> 54:58.220
That is revival.

54:58.220 --> 55:01.180
And we don't have time to read Nehemiah chapter 9,

55:01.180 --> 55:03.940
but the whole chapter of Nehemiah 9

55:03.940 --> 55:07.060
is essentially a corporate prayer to God

55:07.060 --> 55:08.820
for God to forgive their sins.

55:08.820 --> 55:10.500
That is biblical revival.

55:13.100 --> 55:15.980
So I say point number one, the biblical definition

55:15.980 --> 55:18.180
of revival.

55:18.180 --> 55:22.620
Point number two, revivals in the Bible.

55:22.620 --> 55:26.780
Point number three, the revival meaning culture today.

55:34.060 --> 55:39.100
So we looked at what biblical revival looks like.

55:39.100 --> 55:40.300
Unfortunately

55:40.700 --> 55:45.700
the general revival meeting culture is so bad

55:45.780 --> 55:47.220
that it's not even funny.

55:48.300 --> 55:51.140
Now I want to read to you an article I saw online.

55:52.060 --> 55:54.640
I will not disclose the author because I don't like him,

55:54.640 --> 55:56.500
but the article is good, okay?

55:58.820 --> 56:03.820
A popular model of ministry that I have seen

56:04.940 --> 56:07.600
is that the Bible is taught in Sunday schools.

56:07.800 --> 56:13.800
But when you go to the main service, the pastor's job is simply give an exhortation.

56:13.800 --> 56:19.800
This exhortation is usually passionate, energizing, and wildly dynamic.

56:20.800 --> 56:28.800
The people walk out of these services wanting to charge hell with a squirt gun, fuel with gasoline, they are pumped!

56:28.800 --> 56:32.800
But the Bible is not really taught in these main services.

56:33.200 --> 56:37.200
It's just more of a rally the troops speech.

56:37.200 --> 56:40.800
What happened is that there arose a group of men

56:40.800 --> 56:45.200
who built entire ministries doing just this type of preaching.

56:45.200 --> 56:49.700
They could trash talk, they could give hilarious one-liners,

56:49.700 --> 56:56.000
and pump you up for 40 minutes, and use almost no Bible in doing so.

56:56.000 --> 56:58.200
And their stories were incredible.

56:58.800 --> 57:02.040
The jokes had you in the floor laughing,

57:02.040 --> 57:04.340
and the trash talk had you ready to run through

57:04.340 --> 57:06.880
a brick wall for Jesus.

57:06.880 --> 57:09.280
We grew to love it, to crave it,

57:09.280 --> 57:11.280
and to make leaders out of the man

57:11.280 --> 57:13.480
who were the best of it.

57:13.480 --> 57:15.480
The problem was that it devolved

57:15.480 --> 57:18.180
into a cult of personality.

57:18.180 --> 57:20.880
These men could get away with serious error

57:20.880 --> 57:24.260
because they could stir up our emotions.

57:24.700 --> 57:33.700
Well, the Bible actually said took a backseat to the one-liners and the trash talk of the most entertaining personalities among us.

57:33.700 --> 57:42.700
So it seems that virtually all national conferences right now are a lineup of men doing exactly this.

57:42.700 --> 57:49.700
They expect you to already know the Bible and are bypassing exposition to...

57:50.000 --> 57:52.400
to exhort you to stay the course,

57:52.400 --> 57:55.800
or that is the intention of it all.

57:55.800 --> 57:59.160
They aren't there to feed you, but to fire you up.

57:59.160 --> 58:02.920
That's fine to a point, but when entire ministries

58:02.920 --> 58:05.920
run off nothing but emotional highs

58:05.920 --> 58:09.080
and are not getting the meat of the word of God,

58:09.080 --> 58:10.880
then weakness sets in.

58:11.760 --> 58:14.760
Most conferences like this all seem to reference

58:14.760 --> 58:16.720
that our movement is dying.

58:17.000 --> 58:21.160
and that our young men are all going to a different way.

58:22.040 --> 58:25.120
And that might be true, but why is that true?

58:25.120 --> 58:27.880
Maybe they hunger for the actual Bible,

58:27.880 --> 58:31.480
and not the trash talk of a computer illiterate boomer

58:31.480 --> 58:34.720
who is mad about that virtually everyone alive today

58:34.720 --> 58:38.440
uses social media and listen to podcasts.

58:38.440 --> 58:40.000
I say let's get back to the Bible.

58:40.100 --> 58:46.900
Maybe we won't leave these services with the same emotional high, but that's okay.

58:46.900 --> 58:57.300
The services where God really got a hold of my heart often caused me to leave sober and

58:57.300 --> 58:59.380
drive home in silence.

58:59.380 --> 59:01.860
Those are the ones that really changed me.

59:01.860 --> 59:06.780
I think some men are trying to fend the flames of a fire that doesn't have any wood.

59:07.600 --> 59:12.000
We have to feed the flock of God again through expositional preaching.

59:12.000 --> 59:23.280
Trying to fire up a bunch of frail, malnourished, and spiritually weak people won't accomplish as much as you think it will.

59:23.280 --> 59:24.640
Feed the people.

59:24.640 --> 59:32.080
The man who opens the Bible reads one verse and then tells stories about himself for 45 minutes

59:32.080 --> 59:35.520
has proven that he believes the power to feed the sheep

59:35.700 --> 59:38.700
to edify the church and to change people's life

59:38.700 --> 59:42.700
ultimately rests in him and not the scriptures.

59:42.700 --> 59:45.700
The pulpits of the charismatic movement

59:45.700 --> 59:49.700
and even portions of the IFB circle

59:49.700 --> 59:52.700
are filled with men who do nothing but this.

59:52.700 --> 59:57.700
By their actions, they prove that they believe

59:57.700 --> 01:00:01.700
that the power lies in them and not in that book.

01:00:02.000 --> 01:00:06.120
Away from these hirelings, they are showmen, entertainers,

01:00:06.120 --> 01:00:07.440
and charlatans.

01:00:07.440 --> 01:00:10.640
Give me the book or sit down."

01:00:10.640 --> 01:00:12.360
I think that's a great article.

01:00:12.360 --> 01:00:15.680
To me, it's really talent.

01:00:15.680 --> 01:00:19.880
I would admire those people for preaching for 45 minutes,

01:00:19.880 --> 01:00:21.160
using only one verse.

01:00:21.160 --> 01:00:23.440
I couldn't even do that.

01:00:23.440 --> 01:00:25.480
That is talent.

01:00:25.480 --> 01:00:27.920
Just use one verse and explain something

01:00:27.920 --> 01:00:29.120
that's not even in the text.

01:00:31.400 --> 01:00:34.800
Now, I want to imitate some sermon excerpts

01:00:34.800 --> 01:00:37.360
from some revival preachers.

01:00:37.360 --> 01:00:40.120
OK?

01:00:40.120 --> 01:00:41.100
I need some water.

01:00:43.700 --> 01:00:48.700
You know, I probably won't do a better job.

01:00:48.700 --> 01:00:49.700
Listen to me.

01:00:49.700 --> 01:00:52.700
No man ever saw Jesus high and lifted up

01:00:52.700 --> 01:00:54.700
without thinking he was so low.

01:00:54.700 --> 01:00:57.700
Isaiah said, Woe is me! Woe is me!

01:00:57.700 --> 01:00:59.700
But then God touched his lips.

01:00:59.700 --> 01:01:02.700
Peter, James, and John saw Jesus,

01:01:02.700 --> 01:01:05.700
and they fell down as dead men.

01:01:05.700 --> 01:01:08.700
But Jesus touched him and set his eyes.

01:01:09.000 --> 01:01:12.600
You and I need to get a good glimpse of Him tonight.

01:01:12.600 --> 01:01:17.600
See His glory, His majesty, His magnanimacy,

01:01:18.000 --> 01:01:21.440
fall down in utter humility, but stay there a while

01:01:21.440 --> 01:01:24.280
because the same Jesus that makes you fall down

01:01:24.280 --> 01:01:27.340
will pick you up and use you for His glory.

01:01:27.340 --> 01:01:28.660
Arise!

01:01:28.660 --> 01:01:31.860
But then the amazing thing about this is this.

01:01:31.860 --> 01:01:35.460
When they got up and He picked Him up, they looked up.

01:01:36.000 --> 01:01:39.840
Where did Moses go? Where did Elijah go?

01:01:39.840 --> 01:01:41.760
Look what the scripture said.

01:01:41.760 --> 01:01:46.760
They saw, listen to me, no man, but Jesus only.

01:01:47.440 --> 01:01:51.360
Oh my soul, you know what we need to do?

01:01:51.360 --> 01:01:53.560
We need to leave this message

01:01:53.560 --> 01:01:56.100
and we need to climb the mountain so high

01:01:56.100 --> 01:01:58.120
that when we get up to the top,

01:01:58.120 --> 01:02:00.800
the only person we see is Jesus.

01:02:01.300 --> 01:02:02.900
He's the one that matters.

01:02:02.900 --> 01:02:04.500
He's the one the world needs.

01:02:04.500 --> 01:02:05.860
He's the one that saves.

01:02:05.860 --> 01:02:07.300
He's the one that makes whole.

01:02:07.300 --> 01:02:09.700
He's the one whose grace is sufficient.

01:02:09.700 --> 01:02:13.220
He's the one that took men from the dust of the ground

01:02:13.220 --> 01:02:16.340
and breathed into man's nostrils the breath of life

01:02:16.340 --> 01:02:18.260
and man became a living soul.

01:02:18.260 --> 01:02:21.380
He's the Alpha, the Omega, the beginning and the end,

01:02:21.380 --> 01:02:23.780
the first and the last, the lily of the valley,

01:02:23.780 --> 01:02:27.140
the bright and morning star, the fires of ten thousand to my soul.

01:02:27.600 --> 01:02:33.120
He's a wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, the Lamb of Glory,

01:02:33.120 --> 01:02:38.520
the Lamb of Judah, the Way, the Truth, the Resurrection, the Life, the Amen, the Faithful

01:02:38.520 --> 01:02:39.800
and True Witness.

01:02:39.800 --> 01:02:46.040
He's omnipotent or powerful, omniscient or knowing, omnipresent at the same time.

01:02:46.040 --> 01:02:47.040
He's...

01:02:47.040 --> 01:02:48.040
He's...

01:02:48.040 --> 01:02:49.040
I can't even do that.

01:02:51.300 --> 01:02:54.140
He's immutable, he can change, eternal,

01:02:54.140 --> 01:02:56.340
he was and is and he is to come.

01:02:56.340 --> 01:03:00.180
He is Jehovah Jireh, our provider, Jehovah Nissa,

01:03:00.180 --> 01:03:03.260
our healer, Jehovah Shalom, our peace,

01:03:03.260 --> 01:03:05.820
Jehovah Shabbat, the Lord who is present.

01:03:05.820 --> 01:03:08.860
Jehovah said, come to the Lord who is our righteousness.

01:03:08.860 --> 01:03:12.860
He's the rock of our salvation, our only foundation,

01:03:12.860 --> 01:03:15.940
a faithful friend who will not change the cornerstone,

01:03:15.940 --> 01:03:17.300
who remains the same.

01:03:17.300 --> 01:03:18.780
He's the rose of Sharon.

01:03:18.780 --> 01:03:19.300
He's a star.

01:03:19.300 --> 01:03:22.100
He's the star of Judah, he's the star of Bethlehem,

01:03:22.100 --> 01:03:24.780
he's Adonai, he's El Shaddai, he's Elohim,

01:03:24.780 --> 01:03:28.020
he's the king of knowledge, the wellspring of wisdom,

01:03:28.020 --> 01:03:30.740
the doorway of deliverance, the pathway of peace,

01:03:30.740 --> 01:03:33.680
the highway of holiness, the roadway of righteous,

01:03:33.680 --> 01:03:36.620
the head of the heroes, the leader of legislators,

01:03:36.620 --> 01:03:39.360
overseers, overcomers, governor of governors,

01:03:39.360 --> 01:03:41.860
prince of princes, king of kings, lord of lords,

01:03:41.860 --> 01:03:44.220
the heaven of heavens can contain him,

01:03:44.220 --> 01:03:46.300
let alone a man explain him.

01:03:46.300 --> 01:03:47.300
You can give him all.

01:03:47.300 --> 01:03:53.380
your hands, you can get him out of your mind, you can outlive and Yeshua can live without

01:03:53.380 --> 01:03:58.140
him, the Pharisees couldn't stop them, Pilate couldn't find a fault in him, witnesses couldn't

01:03:58.140 --> 01:04:00.100
get their testimonies to agree.

01:04:00.600 --> 01:04:05.000
Herod couldn't kill him, death couldn't handle him, and the grave couldn't hold him.

01:04:05.000 --> 01:04:08.440
There is being nobody before him, there will be nobody after him.

01:04:08.440 --> 01:04:11.400
He had no predecessor, he'll have no successor.

01:04:11.400 --> 01:04:14.920
You can't impreach Jesus and he ain't going to resign.

01:04:14.920 --> 01:04:17.320
He is the kingdom of kings and he's lord of lords.

01:04:17.320 --> 01:04:21.720
And when you and I climb up that mountain, we're not looking at politics.

01:04:23.000 --> 01:04:24.360
We're not looking at preachers.

01:04:25.160 --> 01:04:26.680
We are not looking at men.

01:04:27.500 --> 01:04:35.180
We are not looking at ourselves. We are looking at no man but save Jesus only.

01:04:39.700 --> 01:04:44.140
The Bible says, preach the word!

01:04:44.140 --> 01:04:44.640
Right?

01:04:44.640 --> 01:04:48.180
Paul said, I have not shunned to declare unto you

01:04:48.180 --> 01:04:50.940
all the counsel of God.

01:04:50.940 --> 01:04:52.860
By the way, this is from Kenny Baldwin.

01:04:52.860 --> 01:04:53.360
Wow.

01:04:57.780 --> 01:04:59.580
If those charges against him were true,

01:04:59.580 --> 01:05:00.900
he's a devil from the beginning.

01:05:00.900 --> 01:05:03.500
Yet we know many devils can preach like that.

01:05:03.500 --> 01:05:06.020
They can fire you guys up, but there's no substance.

01:05:06.020 --> 01:05:06.200
you

01:05:06.700 --> 01:05:11.580
They may even preach a good portion of Bible passage,

01:05:11.580 --> 01:05:13.660
but there's no deep exposition.

01:05:13.660 --> 01:05:14.100
You know why?

01:05:14.100 --> 01:05:15.460
Because they don't have the spirit.

01:05:15.460 --> 01:05:18.980
It's all the service meaning and some one-liners.

01:05:18.980 --> 01:05:23.140
By the way, he preached all that from memory.

01:05:23.140 --> 01:05:27.740
I had way more southern passion than me.

01:05:27.740 --> 01:05:28.900
I couldn't even catch my breath.

01:05:31.300 --> 01:05:34.980
Let me read you another one, OK?

01:05:34.980 --> 01:05:36.540
Now, this one is a little bit better,

01:05:36.540 --> 01:05:41.860
because the preacher is kind of decent.

01:05:41.860 --> 01:05:42.360
Hold on.

01:05:42.360 --> 01:05:43.260
I need some water.

01:05:46.420 --> 01:05:48.060
Oh, man.

01:05:48.060 --> 01:05:50.180
But the church is like a good woman.

01:05:54.420 --> 01:05:55.260
It says that.

01:05:56.800 --> 01:05:58.800
Don't you all try to make this practical,

01:05:58.800 --> 01:06:01.480
or every woman in here is going to have a hard time

01:06:01.480 --> 01:06:03.240
with this message.

01:06:03.240 --> 01:06:07.080
Some of the crowd hates that spiritualization.

01:06:07.080 --> 01:06:09.200
Well, you are spiritualizing that.

01:06:09.200 --> 01:06:11.480
Well, if I start making it practical,

01:06:11.480 --> 01:06:15.360
there ain't a woman that's going to like any of this message,

01:06:15.360 --> 01:06:18.160
because you don't meet up to those expectations.

01:06:18.160 --> 01:06:18.660
Amen?

01:06:21.300 --> 01:06:25.300
We can't even sew a button on a shirt anymore.

01:06:25.300 --> 01:06:27.980
We got so sorry in our homes in America

01:06:27.980 --> 01:06:34.100
that if a button falls off, you go to Walmart and buy another.

01:06:34.100 --> 01:06:38.860
Don't look down, man, like you've lost something.

01:06:38.860 --> 01:06:43.340
You can't even sew a button on a shirt.

01:06:43.340 --> 01:06:46.460
Hey, man, you got to send breaches.

01:06:46.460 --> 01:06:46.700
Thanks for watching!

01:06:47.200 --> 01:06:50.400
to get hand blask out to the dry cleaners.

01:06:50.400 --> 01:06:52.600
I've never seen anything like this.

01:06:52.600 --> 01:06:55.840
My sisters grew up making dresses.

01:06:55.840 --> 01:06:58.280
They used to sell cloth.

01:06:58.280 --> 01:07:01.680
They had bolts of cloth that had patterns.

01:07:01.680 --> 01:07:05.480
Is everyone all right?

01:07:05.480 --> 01:07:10.640
People had sewing machines and sewing boxes.

01:07:10.640 --> 01:07:11.840
Hey, man, they used to cook.

01:07:12.700 --> 01:07:14.620
Nowadays, when you say supper time,

01:07:14.620 --> 01:07:17.020
kids run to the course.

01:07:17.020 --> 01:07:18.500
Somebody say hey, man.

01:07:21.300 --> 01:07:23.300
It's preaching! Don't look down, you all!

01:07:26.400 --> 01:07:28.400
You're gonna take me off.

01:07:28.400 --> 01:07:30.400
And I was feeling good.

01:07:30.400 --> 01:07:32.400
You're gonna make me mad.

01:07:32.400 --> 01:07:35.400
And I preach mad.

01:07:35.400 --> 01:07:37.400
Is everyone okay?

01:07:37.400 --> 01:07:39.400
Be angry, the Bible said.

01:07:39.400 --> 01:07:41.400
I like that verse.

01:07:41.400 --> 01:07:44.400
Hey church, church is like a good woman.

01:07:44.400 --> 01:07:46.400
We can't even find a good woman.

01:07:46.400 --> 01:07:49.400
Good church is strong.

01:07:49.400 --> 01:07:51.400
Oh, I can't even.

01:07:55.200 --> 01:07:57.200
Good church is strong.

01:07:57.200 --> 01:08:00.040
You know, they exercise church discipline

01:08:00.040 --> 01:08:02.800
when people's out of line.

01:08:02.800 --> 01:08:03.480
Don't look down.

01:08:03.480 --> 01:08:03.980
Look up.

01:08:03.980 --> 01:08:04.480
Look up.

01:08:04.480 --> 01:08:05.400
Look up.

01:08:05.400 --> 01:08:06.800
Look up.

01:08:06.800 --> 01:08:08.720
Look up, y'all.

01:08:08.720 --> 01:08:10.400
Church is strong.

01:08:10.400 --> 01:08:12.400
What about these weak churches?

01:08:12.400 --> 01:08:14.040
Don't stand for anything.

01:08:14.040 --> 01:08:17.020
No qualification for nobody.

01:08:17.020 --> 01:08:18.160
Anything goes.

01:08:18.160 --> 01:08:19.000
Look the other way.

01:08:20.000 --> 01:08:24.000
If they can't be a deacon, just give them a title for something else.

01:08:25.000 --> 01:08:26.000
Somebody helping now.

01:08:27.000 --> 01:08:28.000
Make up your own office.

01:08:28.500 --> 01:08:29.000
Don't look dumb!

01:08:31.000 --> 01:08:32.000
Don't look dumb.

01:08:33.000 --> 01:08:34.000
Like you lost something.

01:08:35.000 --> 01:08:36.000
They are weak.

01:08:37.000 --> 01:08:38.000
Weak.

01:08:39.000 --> 01:08:40.000
That's from Tony Hudson.

01:08:42.400 --> 01:08:49.400
Now I will say that most of the things are not really wrong, but they are super shallow.

01:08:49.400 --> 01:08:54.400
And most revival meetings are more of a pep rally than Bible preaching.

01:08:54.400 --> 01:08:56.400
They play on people's emotions.

01:08:56.400 --> 01:09:01.400
They focus on personalities, stories, jokes, one-liners.

01:09:01.400 --> 01:09:04.400
They can get people to scream Amen with little to no Bible.

01:09:04.400 --> 01:09:05.400
That's talent!

01:09:07.900 --> 01:09:10.480
There's a reason they keep asking for the same revival

01:09:10.480 --> 01:09:12.220
preachers, because they gravitate

01:09:12.220 --> 01:09:13.880
toward their personalities.

01:09:13.880 --> 01:09:16.520
They can fill the altars with super shallow preaching.

01:09:16.520 --> 01:09:18.600
Young people get those emotional high,

01:09:18.600 --> 01:09:20.640
and they go to the altar without knowing why

01:09:20.640 --> 01:09:22.400
they believe certain standards.

01:09:22.400 --> 01:09:24.200
They know how to move a crowd.

01:09:24.200 --> 01:09:26.200
They know how to stir emotions.

01:09:26.200 --> 01:09:29.200
But the real question is, are they teaching people

01:09:29.200 --> 01:09:31.400
the word of God?

01:09:31.400 --> 01:09:33.960
Here's the problem.

01:09:33.960 --> 01:09:35.600
If you asked many young people,

01:09:35.600 --> 01:09:35.800
Thanks for watching!

01:09:36.100 --> 01:09:43.200
Why they came to the altar they can tell you how they felt but they cannot tell you what the Bible has taught them

01:09:44.180 --> 01:09:51.500
See a generation raised on those emotional preaching often inherits convictions without biblical foundations

01:09:52.100 --> 01:09:56.380
And when the emotions fade, those convictions

01:09:56.380 --> 01:09:58.620
often fade with them.

01:09:58.620 --> 01:10:02.300
Maybe that's why those churches have to have revival service

01:10:02.300 --> 01:10:06.340
every year, because they need the emotional high.

01:10:06.340 --> 01:10:09.260
It's like drugs.

01:10:09.260 --> 01:10:12.120
The preachers are supposed to preach the Word of God

01:10:12.120 --> 01:10:13.220
every single week.

01:10:13.220 --> 01:10:13.500
my job.

01:10:14.000 --> 01:10:20.400
And the congregation should take heed and reflect upon the word of God every single service.

01:10:20.400 --> 01:10:22.400
That's how you have revival.

01:10:23.300 --> 01:10:28.300
They will fill their services with everything but the Word of God.

01:10:28.300 --> 01:10:33.840
They fill those meetings, chem meetings, with games and those activities, which are not

01:10:33.840 --> 01:10:35.200
really wrong.

01:10:35.200 --> 01:10:38.260
But these are not the recipe for revival.

01:10:38.260 --> 01:10:43.040
Even after an hour of games and music, they finally have the preaching, and the preaching

01:10:43.040 --> 01:10:45.160
is super shallow.

01:10:45.160 --> 01:10:46.800
You know, the preaching gets 30 minutes.

01:10:47.200 --> 01:10:51.120
And too often, those 30 minutes are filled with stories, jokes,

01:10:51.120 --> 01:10:55.000
motivational speeches, instead of opening the scripture.

01:10:55.000 --> 01:10:56.360
That's not revival.

01:10:56.360 --> 01:10:57.560
That's a show.

01:10:57.560 --> 01:10:59.600
No wonder churches are losing young people,

01:10:59.600 --> 01:11:04.480
because do you know who can do better pep talks than Baptists?

01:11:04.480 --> 01:11:07.040
Non-denom phone centers.

01:11:07.040 --> 01:11:11.880
Compromise churches with purple lights, right?

01:11:11.880 --> 01:11:14.120
Is there any wonder that many young people leave?

01:11:14.400 --> 01:11:18.640
Because if we've taught them to chase an emotional experience

01:11:18.640 --> 01:11:21.080
rather than grounding them in the world,

01:11:21.080 --> 01:11:23.040
another church with a better show

01:11:23.040 --> 01:11:26.040
will eventually win them over.

01:11:26.040 --> 01:11:29.640
Because the world always has better entertainment.

01:11:29.640 --> 01:11:32.560
The megachurch has way better production.

01:11:32.560 --> 01:11:35.640
The non-denom churches has better lighting, music,

01:11:35.640 --> 01:11:37.640
and bigger budgets.

01:11:37.640 --> 01:11:41.120
And we're never going to out-entertain the world.

01:11:41.500 --> 01:11:45.500
But we have something they don't. The inspired, preserved Word of God.

01:11:45.500 --> 01:11:49.500
That's what changes lives. That's what revives God's people.

01:11:49.500 --> 01:11:53.740
21 Peter chapter 5. 1 Peter chapter 5.

01:11:57.200 --> 01:11:59.480
I said point number one, the biblical definition

01:11:59.480 --> 01:12:01.880
of revival.

01:12:01.880 --> 01:12:06.760
Point number two, revivals in the Bible.

01:12:06.760 --> 01:12:11.200
Point number three, the revival meeting culture today.

01:12:11.200 --> 01:12:13.320
1 Peter 5, look at verse one.

01:12:13.320 --> 01:12:15.960
1 Peter 5, 1.

01:12:15.960 --> 01:12:18.760
The elders which are among you I exhort,

01:12:18.760 --> 01:12:20.920
who I'm also an elder.

01:12:21.000 --> 01:12:27.000
and the witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed.

01:12:27.000 --> 01:12:32.000
Feed the flock of God which is among you.

01:12:32.000 --> 01:12:40.000
Peter exhorts his fellow elders, his fellow pastors to feed the flock of God.

01:12:40.000 --> 01:12:44.000
Jesus never told Peter to entertain my sheep.

01:12:44.000 --> 01:12:47.600
What did he tell Peter? Feed my sheep.

01:12:48.000 --> 01:12:50.960
So I truly believe at this church,

01:12:50.960 --> 01:12:55.180
you can experience real biblical revival

01:12:55.180 --> 01:12:58.340
every single service.

01:12:58.340 --> 01:13:01.380
If you reflect upon the words that's being preached

01:13:01.380 --> 01:13:03.100
and humbly approached before God,

01:13:03.100 --> 01:13:06.540
you can have biblical revival every single service.

01:13:06.540 --> 01:13:10.460
I also believe that you can experience real biblical revival

01:13:10.460 --> 01:13:13.340
every single day in your prayer time to God.

01:13:13.500 --> 01:13:18.780
Ask God to be merciful to you and ask God to strengthen you.

01:13:18.780 --> 01:13:22.100
Because the greatest revival a church can have

01:13:22.100 --> 01:13:25.420
is when its people stop looking for a special meeting

01:13:25.420 --> 01:13:28.420
or a special preacher and start responding

01:13:28.420 --> 01:13:33.780
to the ordinary preaching of the word of God every single week.

01:13:33.780 --> 01:13:35.380
Amen?

01:13:35.380 --> 01:13:35.860
Let's pray.

01:13:35.860 --> 01:13:38.900
Thank you all for this sermon that you

01:13:38.900 --> 01:13:40.740
have inspired me to preach.

01:13:41.400 --> 01:13:46.360
I pray that your people here will just be more attentive to the preaching of the word

01:13:46.360 --> 01:13:49.000
and actually make applications in their life.

01:13:49.000 --> 01:13:54.080
I pray that you'll bless their daily prayer life so that they can experience revival every

01:13:54.080 --> 01:13:55.080
single day.

01:13:55.080 --> 01:13:56.760
I pray this in Jesus' name, amen.

01:14:01.300 --> 01:14:03.540
All right, amen.

01:14:05.020 --> 01:14:08.180
Last song's gonna be song 343.

01:14:08.200 --> 01:14:10.320
Song 343 in your hymn books.

01:14:10.320 --> 01:14:11.380
Revive us again.

01:14:11.980 --> 01:14:14.420
Song 343.

01:14:15.300 --> 01:14:17.140
Revive us again.

01:14:18.860 --> 01:14:20.540
343 on the first.

01:14:21.300 --> 01:14:28.900
We praise thee, O God, for the Son of thy love,

01:14:28.900 --> 01:14:36.300
for Jesus who died and is now gone above.

01:14:36.300 --> 01:14:43.500
Hallelujah, thine the glory, hallelujah, amen.

01:14:43.800 --> 01:14:51.320
Hallelujah, thine the glory, revive us again.

01:14:51.320 --> 01:14:58.840
We praise thee, O God, for thy spirit of light,

01:14:58.840 --> 01:15:06.200
who has shown us our Savior and scattered our night.

01:15:06.200 --> 01:15:11.720
Hallelujah, thine the glory, hallelujah.

01:15:11.800 --> 01:15:28.520
Amen. Hallelujah, thine glory, revive us again. All glory and praise to the Lamb that was slain,

01:15:28.520 --> 01:15:35.240
who has borne all our sins and has cleansed every stain.

01:15:35.800 --> 01:15:42.800
Hallelujah, thine the glory, Hallelujah, amen,

01:15:42.800 --> 01:15:49.800
Hallelujah, thine the glory, Revive us again,

01:15:49.800 --> 01:15:57.800
Revive us again, Fill each heart with thy love.

01:15:58.200 --> 01:16:05.720
For each soul be rekindled with fire from above.

01:16:05.720 --> 01:16:09.520
Hallelujah, thine the glory.

01:16:09.520 --> 01:16:13.160
Hallelujah, amen.

01:16:13.160 --> 01:16:16.960
Hallelujah, thine the glory.

01:16:16.960 --> 01:16:20.520
Revive us again.

01:16:20.520 --> 01:16:21.800
All right, great singing.

01:16:21.800 --> 01:16:24.680
Brother Jeremy, could you please close out with our prayer?

01:16:38.400 --> 01:16:40.400
Hey man, you are dismissed.
