Hating the Messenger. 05:46.240 --> 05:50.400 Let's pray. Heavenly Father, I just thank you Lord for an opportunity to preach the word to this 05:50.400 --> 05:54.560 great congregation here. Lord, I just pray that you fill me with your spirit, that you would heal 05:54.560 --> 05:58.400 pastor quickly Lord and you would just bless our church in Jesus name I pray. 05:58.400 --> 06:05.760 Amen. So obviously I'm not Pastor Thompson here, so Pastor got, yeah, see we got the short pulpit. 06:05.760 --> 06:11.040 That's how, that's the dead giveaway, but he's not feeling well, so you know, pray for our pastor. 06:11.040 --> 06:12.640 I think it's something that, you know, we might... 06:13.000 --> 06:18.120 We say a lot and we might think about doing but we might forget you know things get busy and you know 06:18.120 --> 06:23.240 But they've got such big targets on their backs the the men of god the prophets of today so to speak 06:23.240 --> 06:27.180 You know the the the men that are just preaching loudly from the housetops 06:27.720 --> 06:32.480 They're they're sparing not they're lifting up their voices like trumpets and you know 06:32.480 --> 06:38.120 We we should pray for them diligently daily and you know because even sickness 06:38.120 --> 06:40.800 I think even sickness sometimes that it might be a way that 06:41.000 --> 06:46.600 comes after people, you know, so we have to pray diligently for our pastor. 06:47.200 --> 06:52.600 And he asked me to preach and I do take it seriously so I want to thank him for that, 06:52.600 --> 07:00.200 that he trusts us men to come behind the pulpit and it is something that we don't take lightly. 07:00.200 --> 07:06.200 This verse here is talking about messengers of God too and we're, even the men, the laymen of the church, 07:06.200 --> 07:08.400 when they get behind the pulpit they are a messenger for God. 07:08.400 --> 07:12.200 When you're reading the Word of God, when you're preaching the Word of God, you're still God's messenger. 07:12.200 --> 07:15.200 There's no new prophecies coming where we're just coming... 07:15.200 --> 07:17.080 coming up, God speaking to us directly. 07:17.080 --> 07:20.120 We have everything that we need right here in the Bible. 07:20.120 --> 07:23.480 And so getting up behind the pulpit is a serious thing. 07:23.480 --> 07:25.080 It's a serious matter to God. 07:25.080 --> 07:29.600 And he takes it seriously how people treat the prophet of God. 07:29.600 --> 07:32.520 Hating a messenger, it's appropriate. 07:32.520 --> 07:34.840 We have Pastor Anderson coming here pretty soon. 07:34.840 --> 07:39.760 And he's a prophet of God that's, I mean. 07:39.800 --> 07:45.560 in our generation a pretty major one. And so is our pastor Thompson. Our pastor is as well. 07:48.120 --> 07:53.640 He might not even have become a pastor were it not for a movement such as the New IP where brother 07:53.640 --> 07:58.440 Alex prayed for them. And I notice he mentioned especially for Pastor Anderson because I do believe 07:58.440 --> 08:02.680 our churches are the tip of the spear in the spiritual battle that's going on in the world 08:02.680 --> 08:07.640 today. And people will find any way to not take sound biblical advice. 08:07.800 --> 08:11.640 sound biblical doctrine. They'll find ways to twist it. They'll find ways to 08:11.640 --> 08:15.720 just, you know, hate the man of God for preaching it and for speaking it and for 08:15.720 --> 08:19.160 saying it loudly from the housetops. You know, like we're supposed to just say 08:19.160 --> 08:22.600 everything meek and mild and have it just tickle your ears and just be 08:22.600 --> 08:26.720 too, oh love love love and loving. And yes, God is a God of love but God is also a 08:26.720 --> 08:31.360 God of wrath, like he says here, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his 08:31.360 --> 08:35.800 people. And that's against his people. So you ought not be 08:35.800 --> 08:39.860 Christian or a saved individual and you're coming after the man of God and 08:39.860 --> 08:44.580 you know they come after Pastor Thompson so much it really really angers me you 08:44.580 --> 08:48.300 know just talking about things that like have nothing to do even with the 08:48.300 --> 08:51.540 doctrine because they can't attack the doctrine they can't attack the fact that 08:51.540 --> 08:55.260 he's preaching the Word of God they have to attack him for other things talk 08:55.260 --> 09:00.020 about you know his weight or he mouth breathing or some stupid stuff like that 09:00.020 --> 09:02.600 stuff that just doesn't matter at all 09:02.600 --> 09:06.200 You know, and talk about misusing the prophet of God. 09:06.200 --> 09:12.200 Talk about despising, you know, the prophet of God and the messenger of our time. 09:12.200 --> 09:16.600 Because believe me, Pastor Thompson has made a huge difference in the world. 09:16.600 --> 09:19.600 And so has a lot of the pastors of the new IFB. 09:20.100 --> 09:23.460 And you know, again, people just want to reject the message. 09:23.460 --> 09:25.020 They want to reject the messenger. 09:25.020 --> 09:26.860 So they just try to find any little thing 09:26.860 --> 09:28.860 to go against the man of God. 09:28.860 --> 09:30.380 And we live, like I said, in a time 09:30.380 --> 09:32.220 where people just do not want to take heed. 09:32.220 --> 09:34.000 Turn to Jeremiah chapter 25. 09:35.500 --> 09:39.100 And we want God to be long-suffering. We want God to be merciful. 09:39.100 --> 09:43.180 But you know, there'll always be a reckoning. There'll always be a reckoning with God. 09:43.180 --> 09:46.620 He, you know, He does things on His timing, and I believe that. 09:46.620 --> 09:51.900 I believe that we shouldn't, you know, try to, you know, force God to do something really, you know. 09:52.540 --> 09:57.500 I think that can be dangerous. But you know, God will hear the prayers of His saints. He will 09:57.500 --> 10:02.300 come to our defense. Vengeance is mine. Sayeth the Lord, I will repay. He will repay. 10:03.500 --> 10:08.980 time of reckoning does always come. And you know, you see in this chapter here how utterly 10:08.980 --> 10:13.180 decimated they were at the hands of the Babylonians in this chapter that you're turning to. They're 10:13.180 --> 10:18.940 in exile for 70 years, which was prophesied in reference here in this chapter. And look 10:18.940 --> 10:20.600 at verse 11. It says, 10:20.700 --> 10:24.380 And this whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment. 10:24.380 --> 10:28.540 And these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. 10:28.540 --> 10:34.540 And it shall come to pass when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, saith the Lord, 10:34.540 --> 10:40.300 for their iniquity in the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations." 10:40.500 --> 10:45.300 You know, we don't want our country to be destroyed when... 10:45.300 --> 10:46.820 We know it's gonna eventually happen. 10:46.820 --> 10:48.740 I think that's something that, you know, 10:48.740 --> 10:50.980 we know just reading the Bible, 10:50.980 --> 10:54.020 just seeing all the wickedness that our country gets involved in, 10:54.020 --> 10:55.860 but we can stave that off. 10:55.860 --> 11:00.580 We can be diligent to pray, diligent to heed the man of God 11:00.580 --> 11:02.580 and hear the message that he's preaching, 11:02.580 --> 11:04.180 not hate him for what he says. 11:04.180 --> 11:05.220 And to hate is to... 11:06.200 --> 11:10.600 Feel a strong dislike or hostility toward is one of the definitions. 11:10.600 --> 11:16.320 And how often do we see that type of hostility, that type of feeling of strong dislike being 11:16.320 --> 11:20.680 thrown at the man of God like our pastor or like a Pastor Anderson or a Pastor Shelley 11:20.680 --> 11:26.320 where they're just so utterly disrespectful and it just shocks me really. 11:26.900 --> 11:30.900 And the man of God, you know, he's a mouthpiece for God of our time. 11:30.900 --> 11:35.520 You know, Pastor recently went on a little bit of a rabbit trail talking, speaking and 11:35.520 --> 11:37.900 preaching against the Catholic Church. 11:37.900 --> 11:41.540 And you know, sometimes people will just like freak out about that when they don't know 11:41.540 --> 11:42.540 the Bible. 11:42.540 --> 11:46.240 You know, I mean, I was brought up Catholic and then when I got saved and you start looking 11:46.240 --> 11:50.220 at the Bible, you see how utterly wrong they are and you all know the same thing. 11:50.220 --> 11:54.140 But people just think everybody who just opens a Bible, no matter what version, no matter 11:54.140 --> 11:54.900 or what they're preaching. 11:54.900 --> 11:58.900 is a man of God. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about actual men of God. 11:58.900 --> 12:03.400 I'm not talking about, you know, men that wear dresses and preach false doctrine and, 12:03.400 --> 12:08.200 you know, call themselves father when the Bible says not to call any man father, right? 12:08.200 --> 12:12.900 I'm talking about actual men of God that are saved, that are preaching the Word of God. 12:12.900 --> 12:17.360 And his rabbit trail against, you know, the Catholic Church, he's like, man, I don't even 12:17.360 --> 12:21.760 know why I did that. I see that happen all the time where a pastor has somebody come 12:21.760 --> 12:22.880 into the congregation that 12:22.900 --> 12:28.120 new and then pastor just starts hitting something right on their sin and really 12:28.120 --> 12:32.600 that's actually what gave me this message too is because I had invited 12:32.600 --> 12:35.600 somebody to church and Pastor Anderson. 12:35.800 --> 12:38.720 was really hitting on the Greek Orthodox Church, 12:38.720 --> 12:39.760 hammering it. 12:39.760 --> 12:41.820 And I probably already told the story, 12:41.820 --> 12:44.020 but he was just about, and he probably 12:44.020 --> 12:47.900 is already there, to move to Greece with his soon-to-be-wife 12:47.900 --> 12:49.880 and join the Greek Orthodox Church. 12:49.880 --> 12:52.780 And so here he started off, Pastor Anderson, 12:52.780 --> 12:54.700 talking about the Catholic Church. 12:54.700 --> 12:55.940 And then it just rabbit trailed. 12:55.940 --> 12:57.940 And he's like, and the Greek Orthodox Church 12:57.940 --> 12:58.780 is no different. 12:58.780 --> 13:00.980 And then he just went on just a tirade. 13:00.980 --> 13:02.620 And this person, she's from Greece. 13:02.620 --> 13:03.300 She speaks Greek. 13:03.800 --> 13:05.800 She was just seething. 13:05.800 --> 13:10.800 And then he just went on to preach this really good anti-feminist type sermon 13:10.800 --> 13:14.800 that just really makes people angry nowadays. 13:14.800 --> 13:20.800 It makes people angry because we've been overly saturated with this ideology of feminism 13:20.800 --> 13:24.800 and it's really destroyed really the world, not just this country. 13:24.800 --> 13:31.800 And so that's kind of, it's amazing how when the Holy Spirit is working through the pastors 13:31.800 --> 13:36.720 of churches like ours, something like that happens pretty often, I'm sure, where you 13:36.720 --> 13:40.520 just, you know, they don't know why, but God puts it on, the Holy Spirit puts it on their 13:40.520 --> 13:45.760 heart to just hit something that is, you know, maybe a stumbling block for that person. 13:45.760 --> 13:48.600 And you should never hate the man of God because of that. 13:48.600 --> 13:52.720 That should actually make you love the man of God more, because the Bible has some very 13:52.720 --> 13:57.440 hard things that God says for us to do and not to do, and we don't hate God because of 13:57.440 --> 13:58.440 it, right? 13:58.440 --> 13:59.440 We love God. 13:59.440 --> 13:59.800 What? 13:59.800 --> 14:02.200 drives us to want to obey his commandments. 14:03.000 --> 14:07.800 So some of the things he said when he was texting me, a friend of mine, and I won't say his name, 14:07.800 --> 14:12.440 I mean he wouldn't be watching our sermon anyway, but you know it was his book of first opinions 14:12.440 --> 14:17.720 that we like to say out there a lot. But he's basically, he's like I had to filter through a 14:17.720 --> 14:23.080 lot of the language just to get the message. When mind you, he did tell me that it was a great 14:23.080 --> 14:26.920 message because I was sitting next to him and he was just blown away that he was hitting on all 14:26.920 --> 14:30.920 these things he literally told me in the parking lot before the message started. He's like right 14:31.000 --> 14:35.260 in the parking lot he's like hey I'm moving to Greece and blah blah he told me in the parking 14:35.260 --> 14:40.580 lot right before the message started so that's why it was so amazing when Pastor Anderson 14:40.580 --> 14:45.420 just start preaching against it you know it was pretty awesome really and I was I told 14:45.420 --> 14:49.260 him I'm like there's a reason why you're here and he's like I he said I agree. 14:49.700 --> 14:55.980 Totally agreed until he got home and then his fiance got it got into his ear and started looking into 14:56.420 --> 15:01.880 Looking into our churches seeing what hate groups we are and just we're just all these rotten guys 15:01.880 --> 15:06.580 They're just like grab our wives by the hair and just pull them into kitchen and tell them to make us a sandwich 15:07.340 --> 15:10.180 So ridiculous, it's it's utterly ridiculous 15:10.460 --> 15:17.540 He said it was a great message until he got home and then he's like, you know, I felt God he changed it to 15:17.700 --> 15:23.120 I felt God was speaking to me and testing me to see if this, this, this being, hearing 15:23.120 --> 15:29.140 this message from Pastor Anderson that was too rough or whatever, would cause me to push 15:29.140 --> 15:32.640 him away and not continue trying to find him. 15:32.640 --> 15:35.220 As if he didn't find him just hearing the word of God preached. 15:35.220 --> 15:40.060 See, because this is what people, when it doesn't tickle their ears, they just completely, 15:40.060 --> 15:43.300 it goes right over their head that it came right out of the Bible. 15:43.300 --> 15:45.700 All of a sudden they forget that that's where he ... 15:45.700 --> 15:46.940 That's what he was preaching. 15:46.940 --> 15:48.700 He wasn't preaching his opinion. 15:48.700 --> 15:50.860 He wasn't preaching just his own thoughts. 15:50.860 --> 15:54.180 He literally was quoting the verses to back up what he was saying. 15:54.180 --> 15:56.920 And that's what drew us to these types of churches. 15:56.920 --> 16:03.460 That's what should draw any person who calls himself a Christian to be a seeker and a follower 16:03.460 --> 16:05.580 of Christ, because that's what it means to be a Christian. 16:05.580 --> 16:06.740 You actually follow Christ. 16:06.740 --> 16:09.620 Well, in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, the Word was God. 16:09.620 --> 16:13.040 So if you're not following it from here, then you're just doing it in vain. 16:13.040 --> 16:13.700 And so the 16:13.700 --> 16:20.100 You know, he was just, I was blown away again by this message, but he was just looking up 16:20.100 --> 16:24.620 stuff just to hate the messenger, just to hate the man of God. 16:24.620 --> 16:29.660 He's like, this place seems really hateful and plenty of Reddit threads about this church 16:29.660 --> 16:31.420 is what I found this morning. 16:31.800 --> 16:38.540 And I even found threads of someone from that church or an organization quoting someone who is spewing racist remarks 16:38.540 --> 16:43.800 Because my friend Michael is black. Our churches aren't racist and God's not racist. 16:43.800 --> 16:48.500 You know, we're all one blood. You know, there's only two groups of people. You're saved or you're not. 16:48.500 --> 16:53.500 That's it. If you're not saved, then the wrath of God abideth on you, right? 16:53.500 --> 16:56.000 If you're saved, then you have eternal life and you're going to heaven. 16:56.000 --> 16:59.800 So God doesn't care about that kind of thing. Nobody at the church... 16:59.800 --> 17:02.020 Church treated him any differently and he knows that. 17:02.020 --> 17:05.320 So they can't ever speak to their actual experience. 17:05.320 --> 17:08.740 They're all of a sudden just taking heed to what wicked people on a Reddit thread are 17:08.740 --> 17:13.600 saying that don't even go to our churches, probably aren't even saved, hate God, you 17:13.600 --> 17:15.560 know, it goes on and on. 17:15.560 --> 17:20.760 You know, and so it's just, he's like, he didn't base it on how he was actually treated. 17:20.760 --> 17:23.400 He just based it on like these other people's opinion. 17:23.400 --> 17:26.480 These people, this place seems really hateful. 17:26.480 --> 17:27.800 He talked about how nice everybody was. 17:27.800 --> 17:30.880 was, Pastor Thompson went right up to him and said, you know, 17:30.880 --> 17:32.920 like, hey, I heard you're going to get baptized. 17:32.920 --> 17:34.920 And he's like, oh, I got to ask my wife, you know. 17:34.920 --> 17:38.440 And he's like, he goes, what did you say?
