09:49.780 --> 09:56.200
hymnal to song number 14, Neil at the Cross song number 14.

10:01.760 --> 10:10.080

10:10.080 --> 10:22.080

10:37.080 --> 10:51.080
Jesus will meet you there. Neil at the cross. There is room for all who will his glory share.

10:51.080 --> 11:01.080
Blessed their ways, harm can never befall those who are anchored there.

11:01.080 --> 11:16.080
Neil at the cross, lead every care. Neil at the cross.

11:16.080 --> 11:30.080
Jesus will meet you there. Neil at the cross. Give your idols up. Look unto realms above.

11:30.080 --> 11:44.080
Turn not away to life's sparking cup. Trust only in his love. Neil at the cross.

11:44.080 --> 11:58.080
Lead every care. Neil at the cross. Jesus will meet you there.

11:58.080 --> 12:02.080
Great sing. Let's open the service with a prayer. Thank you Lord for this great day.

12:02.080 --> 12:06.080
Thank you for the salvation this afternoon. I pray that you'll bless the sing and the preaching.

12:06.080 --> 12:14.080
In the name of Jesus, amen. Turn to song number 24, and can it be song number 24.

12:14.080 --> 12:24.080
On the first.

12:24.080 --> 12:42.080
And can it be that I should gain an interest in the Savior's blood.

12:42.080 --> 13:00.080
Die he for me who caused his pain. For me who him to death pursued.

13:00.080 --> 13:18.080
Amazing love, how can it be that thou my God should die for me.

13:18.080 --> 13:38.080
Amazing love, how can it be that thou my God should die for me.

13:38.080 --> 13:56.080
He left his fathers thrown above. So free, so infinite in his grace.

13:56.080 --> 14:14.080
Empty himself of all the love and blood for Adam's helpless grace.

14:14.080 --> 14:32.080
His mercy all immense and free. For oh my God should now be.

14:32.080 --> 14:52.080
Amazing love, how can it be that thou my God should die for me.

14:52.080 --> 15:10.080
My in prison spirit laid fast bumping sin and nature's knife.

15:10.080 --> 15:28.080
I defuse a quickening rain. I woke the dungeon flame with light.

15:28.080 --> 15:46.080
My chains fell off. My heart was free. I rose, went forth and followed thee.

15:46.080 --> 16:04.080
Amazing love, how can it be that thou my God should die for me.

16:04.080 --> 16:32.080
Amen.

17:32.080 --> 17:56.080
Amen.

18:02.080 --> 18:26.080
Amen.

18:32.080 --> 18:52.080
Amen.

18:52.080 --> 19:08.080
Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, God bless you. Happy birthday to you.

19:08.080 --> 19:12.080
Alright, congratulations for living another year.

19:12.080 --> 19:16.080
Alright, let's sing one more song and then we'll take out the offering.

19:16.080 --> 19:30.080
Alright, let's turn to song number 169. Come thou fount of every blessing, song 169.

19:30.080 --> 19:40.080
Come thou fount of every blessing, to my heart to sing thy grace.

19:40.080 --> 19:49.080
Strings of mercy never ceasing. Call for songs of loudest praise.

19:49.080 --> 19:59.080
Teach me some melodious song that sound by flaming tongues above.

19:59.080 --> 20:09.080
Praise the mount I'm fixed upon it, mount of thy redeeming love.

20:09.080 --> 20:19.080
Here I raise mine, Ebenezer, hither by thy help I've come.

20:19.080 --> 20:28.080
And I know by thy good pleasure, safely I'll arrive at home.

20:28.080 --> 20:38.080
Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God.

20:38.080 --> 20:48.080
He to rescue me from danger, interposes precious blood.

20:48.080 --> 20:58.080
Oh, to grace how great a debtor, daily I'm constrained to be.

20:58.080 --> 21:08.080
Let thy goodness like a feather, bind my wandering heart to thee.

21:08.080 --> 21:18.080
Prone to wonder, Lord, I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love.

21:18.080 --> 21:28.080
Here's my heart, O take and seal it. Seal it for thy courts above.

21:28.080 --> 21:30.080
Amen.

21:58.080 --> 22:19.080
All right, we'll be reading in 1 Samuel chapter 31.

22:19.080 --> 22:23.080
If you need a Bible, raise your hand and Usher will provide one for you.

22:23.080 --> 22:28.080
1 Samuel chapter 31.

22:28.080 --> 22:31.080
We'll be reading the whole chapter. 1 Samuel chapter 31, the Bible reads,

22:31.080 --> 22:40.080
Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines and fell down slain in Mount Gilboa.

22:40.080 --> 22:49.080
And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons, and the Philistines slew Jonathan and Abinadab and Meshua Saul's sons.

22:49.080 --> 22:55.080
And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hid him, and he was sore wounded of the archers.

22:55.080 --> 23:06.080
Then Saul said unto his armor-bearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith, lest these uncircumcised come, and thrust me through and abuse me.

23:06.080 --> 23:12.080
But his armor-bearer would not, for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword and fell upon it.

23:12.080 --> 23:18.080
And when his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword and died with him.

23:18.080 --> 23:24.080
So Saul died and his three sons, and his armor-bearer and all his men that same day together.

23:24.080 --> 23:34.080
And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the other side of Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled,

23:35.080 --> 23:42.080
and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities and fled, and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

23:42.080 --> 23:51.080
And it came to pass on the morrow when the Philistines came to strip the slain that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in Mount Gilboa.

23:51.080 --> 24:01.080
And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to publish it in the house of their idols and among the people.

24:01.080 --> 24:10.080
And they that put his armor in the house of Ashtaroth, and they fastened his body to the wall of Bashan.

24:10.080 --> 24:18.080
And when the inhabitants of Jebesh-Gilead heard of which the Philistines had done unto Saul, all the valley men arose and went all night,

24:18.080 --> 24:25.080
and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bashan, and came to Jebesh and burnt them there.

24:25.080 --> 24:30.080
And he took their bones and buried them under tree at Jebesh and fasted seven days.

24:30.080 --> 24:33.080
Brother Brek, could you pray us to the service?

24:45.080 --> 24:53.080
Amen. All right. Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we are going to have a funeral for the doctrine of perseverance of the saints.

24:53.080 --> 25:04.080
Here lies that doctrine. If you don't know what perseverance of the saints is, it is the fifth letter of the Calvinist flower doctrine,

25:04.080 --> 25:14.080
named Tulip, which is total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, which is the worst one, not all of them, and irresistible grace.

25:14.080 --> 25:17.080
And the P is perseverance of the saints.

25:17.080 --> 25:25.080
Now, this one isn't the worst. I think all the other ones are worse than this one, but this one has crept into a lot of good churches.

25:25.080 --> 25:32.080
So, you know, now we're going to throw Tulips on the casket of person of the saints tonight.

25:32.080 --> 25:38.080
So my first point is going to be the heresying question. I'm not going to define it for you.

25:38.080 --> 25:46.080
What I'm going to do is I'm going to read quotes from the false prophet himself, John Calvin, a false prophet from France.

25:46.080 --> 25:52.080
I'm going to read a quote from Charles Spurgeon, who the old IFB seems to love him for whatever reason.

25:52.080 --> 26:00.080
I'm going to read some quotes from the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Canons of Dort.

26:00.080 --> 26:08.080
So hopefully I don't bore you, but everybody just lock in, listen to me. It's going to sound boring, but listen to what they're teaching,

26:08.080 --> 26:11.080
because it has crept in to a lot of places.

26:11.080 --> 26:17.080
So first, John Calvin, this is the Institute's book number three, Chapter 16.

26:17.080 --> 26:26.080
He said, We dream not of a faith which is devoid of good works, nor of a justification which can exist without them.

26:26.080 --> 26:35.080
The only difference is that while we acknowledge the inseparable connection between faith and works, we place justify in faith and not in works.

26:35.080 --> 26:43.080
In his commentary on Catholic epistles, he said, The Spirit of God is not a fleeting or temporary messenger,

26:43.080 --> 26:50.080
but a perpetual habit in the heart of the believer so that he who has been once truly illuminated by him

26:50.080 --> 26:57.080
can never afterward be so far deprived of his life as not to retain at least some sparks of it.

26:57.080 --> 27:02.080
Now, don't go to sleep. There's a lot more. Just listen, lock in, listen.

27:02.080 --> 27:11.080
The hearts of the godly are so effectually governed by the Spirit of God that through any inflexible disposition they follow his guidance.

27:11.080 --> 27:20.080
The power of the Spirit is so effectual that it necessarily retains us in continual obedience to righteousness.

27:20.080 --> 27:28.080
John Calvin's commentary on the first epistle of John, in his Institute's book number three, Chapter 16, he said,

27:28.080 --> 27:36.080
As the sun cannot be seen without its light, so neither can Christ be known without his Spirit of sanctification.

27:36.080 --> 27:43.080
Christ justifies no man without also sanctifying him.

27:43.080 --> 27:50.080
Now next is Charles Spurgeon. He said, If one dear saint of God had perished, so might all.

27:50.080 --> 27:57.080
If one of the covenant ones be lost, so may all be. And there is no ground of confidence in the word of God.

27:57.080 --> 28:03.080
But God will have his people repent. He will bring them to his feet.

28:03.080 --> 28:10.080
And a sermon that Charles Spurgeon said, Now we might think that means that God wants to when he says will.

28:10.080 --> 28:17.080
But when he says will, he's saying no. God will like force his people to repent and come back to his feet.

28:17.080 --> 28:25.080
Next, I'm going to read from the Canons of Dort, which is basically the official rule book of Calvinism where we get the tulip from.

28:25.080 --> 28:30.080
It defines the five points. It says in the fifth head of the doctrine, Article 6,

28:30.080 --> 28:35.080
But God, who is rich in mercy, according to his unchangeable purpose of election,

28:35.080 --> 28:41.080
Does not wholly withdraw the Holy Spirit from his own people, even in their melancholy falls,

28:41.080 --> 28:47.080
Nor suffers them to proceed so far as to lose the grace of adoption and the state of justification,

28:47.080 --> 28:51.080
Or to commit a sin unto death or against the Holy Spirit,

28:51.080 --> 28:57.080
Nor does he permit them to be totally deserted and to plunge themselves in eternal destruction.

28:57.080 --> 29:04.080
Fifth doctrine of the head, Article 8 says, Thus it is not in consequence of their own merits or strength,

29:04.080 --> 29:09.080
But of God's free mercy that they do not totally fall from faith and grace,

29:09.080 --> 29:14.080
Nor continue and perish finally in their backslidings,

29:14.080 --> 29:19.080
Which with respect to themselves is not only possible but would undoubtedly happen,

29:19.080 --> 29:24.080
But with respect to God, it is utterly impossible since his counsel cannot be changed,

29:24.080 --> 29:29.080
Nor his promise fail, neither can the call according to his purpose be revoked,

29:29.080 --> 29:34.080
Nor the merit, intercession, and preservation of Christ be rendered ineffectual,

29:34.080 --> 29:38.080
Nor the sealing of the Holy Spirit be frustrated or obliterated.

29:38.080 --> 29:42.080
I'm reading this because I don't want anybody to say I'm strawman,

29:42.080 --> 29:49.080
And this is what they wrote down thousands of years ago, well not thousands, 500 years ago, in their own books.

29:49.080 --> 29:53.080
I'm not strawman in anybody. This is what they wrote down. This is what they believe.

29:53.080 --> 29:56.080
Next I'm going to read the Westminster Confession of Faith,

29:56.080 --> 30:01.080
Which is pretty much the rule book for the Presbyterian Church,

30:01.080 --> 30:04.080
And Presbyterian is just another word for Calvinism.

30:05.080 --> 30:12.080
Pretty much. It says on the Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapter 17, Section 1,

30:12.080 --> 30:16.080
They whom God hath accepted and his beloved,

30:16.080 --> 30:19.080
Effectually called and sanctified by his Spirit,

30:19.080 --> 30:23.080
Can neither totally nor finally fall away from the state of grace,

30:23.080 --> 30:27.080
But shall certainly persevere therein to the end and be eternally saved.

30:27.080 --> 30:32.080
That's where they get the name from. Now that might sound good, but let me keep reading.

30:32.080 --> 30:35.080
Chapter 18, Section 4 says,

30:35.080 --> 30:39.080
True believers may have the assurance of their salvation

30:39.080 --> 30:42.080
Diversed away shaken, diminished, and intermitted,

30:42.080 --> 30:47.080
As by negligence and preserving of it, by falling into some special sin,

30:47.080 --> 30:49.080
I don't know what that means,

30:49.080 --> 30:54.080
Yet are they never utterly destitute of the seed of God and life of faith,

30:54.080 --> 30:56.080
The love of Christ and the brethren,

30:56.080 --> 30:59.080
That sincerity of heart and conscious duty,

30:59.080 --> 31:02.080
Out of which by the operation of the Spirit,

31:02.080 --> 31:04.080
This assurance may in due time be revived,

31:04.080 --> 31:09.080
And by the which in the meantime they are supported from utter despair.

31:09.080 --> 31:12.080
Last one. Last one. Just lock in. Listen to this one.

31:12.080 --> 31:15.080
They who are once effectually called and regenerated,

31:15.080 --> 31:19.080
Having a new heart and a new spirit created in them,

31:19.080 --> 31:24.080
Are farther sanctified really and personally through the virtue of Christ's death

31:24.080 --> 31:27.080
And resurrection by his word and spirit dwelling in them,

31:27.080 --> 31:32.080
The dominion of the whole body of sin is destroyed,

31:32.080 --> 31:36.080
And several less thereof are more and more weakened and mortified,

31:36.080 --> 31:41.080
And they more and more quickened and strengthened in all saving graces

31:41.080 --> 31:46.080
To the practice of true holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

31:46.080 --> 31:50.080
Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapter 13, Section 1.

31:50.080 --> 31:54.080
So, you know, at a funeral, obviously you've got to talk about the person's life,

31:54.080 --> 31:58.080
His beginning and his ending, so that's why I'm reading that.

31:58.080 --> 32:01.080
To summarize that for you all that fell asleep,

32:01.080 --> 32:03.080
Basically what they're saying is,

32:03.080 --> 32:07.080
Faith in works is inseparable, so you cannot have faith without works,

32:07.080 --> 32:11.080
But faith alone nominally justifies you.

32:11.080 --> 32:13.080
Nominally means they're only saying it in name.

32:13.080 --> 32:17.080
It doesn't, because the faith has to have works to justify you.

32:17.080 --> 32:21.080
So it's not really faith alone because the faith has to have works.

32:22.080 --> 32:27.080
To summarize again, they're saying that God forces you to follow him,

32:27.080 --> 32:29.080
God forces you to do good works,

32:29.080 --> 32:34.080
And God forces you to repent once you stray away from him.

32:34.080 --> 32:38.080
They're saying that you may slip into a grievous sin or a special sin,

32:38.080 --> 32:41.080
Whatever that means, or a backslide,

32:41.080 --> 32:44.080
But you will either repent immediately,

32:44.080 --> 32:48.080
And if you do not repent after doing this backsliding,

32:48.080 --> 32:51.080
Then you're not even saved, you're not one of the elect.

32:51.080 --> 32:56.080
And if you die in the state outside of grace, which is living in sin,

32:56.080 --> 32:58.080
That proves that you're not one of the elect.

32:58.080 --> 33:01.080
So if you don't repent immediately, you're not the elect,

33:01.080 --> 33:04.080
And if you die in sin, you're not the elect.

33:04.080 --> 33:08.080
Now, my first point was the heresian question,

33:08.080 --> 33:11.080
Now I'm about to tell you why this is a big issue.

33:11.080 --> 33:16.080
Number one, virtually all the old IFB believes in this doctrine.

33:16.080 --> 33:19.080
They believe that, they're not going to say it by name like the elect,

33:19.080 --> 33:23.080
But they're going to say the saved will have some type of change,

33:23.080 --> 33:24.080
Or something like that.

33:24.080 --> 33:27.080
And if you don't believe me, name five old IFB pastors

33:27.080 --> 33:30.080
That don't believe in some variation of this.

33:30.080 --> 33:35.080
And I can only think of two, which is a pastor from charity I was told about today,

33:35.080 --> 33:38.080
And Yankee Arnold, and besides that, I can't think of anybody else.

33:38.080 --> 33:42.080
So virtually everybody in the old IFB believes that a saved person

33:42.080 --> 33:44.080
Will have works and persevere to the end,

33:44.080 --> 33:48.080
And if they don't persevere to the end, that proves that they're not really saved.

33:48.080 --> 33:52.080
An example of this, what the old IFB will say, is,

33:52.080 --> 33:57.080
Well, they're living in sin, the devil might have tricked them into thinking they were saved.

33:57.080 --> 34:00.080
So they have to get saved since they're living in sin,

34:00.080 --> 34:04.080
Because when I got saved, I stopped doing all that wicked stuff that they're doing.

34:04.080 --> 34:08.080
Or when you're saved, there's going to be some change within you,

34:08.080 --> 34:12.080
Whether that's not smoking, not drinking, something's going to change in your life.

34:12.080 --> 34:15.080
You're not just going to be the same old person.

34:15.080 --> 34:20.080
And the most wacky example I can think of is somebody telling me a story of a deacon's daughter.

34:20.080 --> 34:25.080
She said the S-word, and then the deacon had to give her the gospel again,

34:25.080 --> 34:30.080
Because a saved person wouldn't do this, and then she had to get rebaptized after this.

34:30.080 --> 34:34.080
So if you were really saved, you wouldn't use words like that.

34:34.080 --> 34:39.080
Now, if salvation is entirely by faith without works,

34:39.080 --> 34:44.080
Then how is it that continuing in works is tied to your salvation?

34:44.080 --> 34:46.080
Because last time I checked, the Bible says,

34:46.080 --> 34:50.080
For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves is the gift of God,

34:50.080 --> 34:52.080
Not of works as Amen and Shabbos.

34:52.080 --> 34:58.080
Not of works of righteousness, which we have done, but according to his mercy, he saved us.

34:58.080 --> 35:03.080
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

35:03.080 --> 35:07.080
So according to the Bible, faith and works are different,

35:07.080 --> 35:12.080
But according to Calvinists, it's inseparable. They're just the same thing.

35:12.080 --> 35:16.080
If you have faith, you also have works.

35:16.080 --> 35:24.080
Now, point number two, I'm going to get on the verses they twist for this doctrine.

35:24.080 --> 35:29.080
Now it's time to go into the Bible. Turn to Matthew chapter four.

35:29.080 --> 35:32.080
Matthew chapter four.

35:32.080 --> 35:40.080
Now listen, just because somebody's quoting the Bible doesn't mean they're right.

35:40.080 --> 35:45.080
What I'm about to show you, there's an example of Satan quoting a story in the Bible,

35:45.080 --> 35:49.080
But we know Satan is the father of lies, so he's taking it out of context.

35:49.080 --> 35:52.080
Look at Matthew chapter four, verse five.

35:52.080 --> 35:56.080
It says, Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city,

35:56.080 --> 35:59.080
And setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

35:59.080 --> 36:04.080
And saith unto him, Thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written,

36:04.080 --> 36:07.080
He shall give his angels charge concerning thee,

36:07.080 --> 36:10.080
And in their hands they shall bear thee up,

36:10.080 --> 36:14.080
Lest at any time thou shall dash thy foot against a stone.

36:14.080 --> 36:19.080
So just because somebody's using verses, and just because maybe the verses they're using is convincing,

36:19.080 --> 36:27.080
That doesn't mean anything because we see the devil right here is taking the Psalms out of context against Jesus.

36:27.080 --> 36:29.080
But let's see how Jesus Christ responds.

36:29.080 --> 36:36.080
He says, Jesus said unto him, It is written, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

36:36.080 --> 36:41.080
So when somebody comes at you with a false interpretation of scripture,

36:41.080 --> 36:47.080
Or scripture ripped out of its context, you need to combat them with it in context.

36:47.080 --> 36:51.080
Turn to 2 Corinthians chapter five.

36:52.080 --> 36:57.080
Another thing is the modern Bible versions that are really popular today,

36:57.080 --> 37:03.080
They help the doctrine of perseverance of the saints by adding a lot of stuff.

37:03.080 --> 37:06.080
You should be in 2 Corinthians chapter number five.

37:06.080 --> 37:09.080
This is probably one of their favorite verses.

37:09.080 --> 37:17.080
Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new.

37:17.080 --> 37:21.080
So that means once you get saved, there's going to be some change.

37:21.080 --> 37:23.080
But right here it says all things.

37:23.080 --> 37:26.080
It doesn't say there's going to be some change once you get saved.

37:26.080 --> 37:29.080
Basically what this verse is saying is that once somebody gets saved,

37:29.080 --> 37:34.080
They get the new man, which is totally sinless inside you.

37:34.080 --> 37:38.080
So that's for all things that are changed, and that's what it means by new creature.

37:38.080 --> 37:44.080
But in the new versions, it actually takes out the word all.

37:44.080 --> 37:54.080
So it would read something like, therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold, some things are become new.

37:54.080 --> 37:57.080
So they take out that word all out of the new version.

37:57.080 --> 38:01.080
So that's why these people are coming to these thoughts.

38:01.080 --> 38:06.080
Now I don't know why the old IFB has that interpretation because they're supposed to be reading the King James.

38:06.080 --> 38:08.080
The King James says all.

38:08.080 --> 38:12.080
Turn to Matthew 24.

38:12.080 --> 38:14.080
This is where they get Calvinists.

38:14.080 --> 38:19.080
Like if you argue with a Calvinist about perseverance of the saints, this is where they will take you.

38:19.080 --> 38:24.080
Matthew chapter 24, verse 13.

38:24.080 --> 38:31.080
The Bible says, But he that shall endure until the end, the same shall be saved.

38:31.080 --> 38:37.080
So if you're not enduring until the end, that's just proof that you're not the elect and you're going to go to hell because you're not enduring and works until the end.

38:38.080 --> 38:46.080
Now this is out of context because this is in Matthew 24, Jesus Christ is telling the disciples about the end times.

38:46.080 --> 38:51.080
So when he's talking about enduring to the end, he's talking about enduring to the end in the tribulation.

38:51.080 --> 38:54.080
He's not talking about spiritual salvation.

38:54.080 --> 38:56.080
He's talking about physical salvation.

38:56.080 --> 39:02.080
And it's easy to prove that if you just go down to verse 22.

39:02.080 --> 39:08.080
And it says, And except those days be shortened, there should no flesh be saved.

39:08.080 --> 39:12.080
But for the elect's sake, those days shall be shortened.

39:12.080 --> 39:23.080
So they'll take this out of context, making it seem like if you don't persevere and works, you're going to go to hell because that just proves that God's not forcing you to do works like he's forcing me to do works.

39:23.080 --> 39:34.080
But in the Bible, this is obviously talking about the anti-Christ persecuting people to where all flesh is going to die unless God raptures them.

39:34.080 --> 39:40.080
In the Berean Standard Bible, it actually adds the word persevere in Matthew 24, 13.

39:40.080 --> 39:46.080
It says, And he that shall persevere unto the end shall the same shall be saved.

39:47.080 --> 39:51.080
Turn to 1 John chapter 3, verse 9.

39:51.080 --> 40:00.080
1 John chapter 3, verse 9.

40:00.080 --> 40:14.080
1 John chapter 3, verse 9 says, Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin, for his seed remaineth in him, and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

40:14.080 --> 40:16.080
Again, this verse is talking about the new man.

40:16.080 --> 40:21.080
Once you get saved, you get the new man, and that's what is going to heaven, not your flesh.

40:21.080 --> 40:27.080
Your flesh stays on earth until the first resurrection where it gets resurrected out of the ground.

40:27.080 --> 40:40.080
But they will twist this, and all the modern versions say if you practice and sin, they'll add that word practice, or if you keep doing it, or if you make an action of keep committing the same sin.

40:40.080 --> 40:44.080
But in the King James, it says he cannot sin.

40:44.080 --> 40:48.080
So they're totally taking that out of context.

40:48.080 --> 40:49.080
I had to read this.

40:49.080 --> 41:01.080
The amplified version of this verse is totally ridiculous, and I even had to look up if people still take the amplified version seriously, and there is a lot of people that like take that as their primary Bible.

41:01.080 --> 41:23.080
In the amplified version in 1 John 3, verse 9, it says, No one who is born of God deliberately, knowingly, and habitually practice sins, because God's seed, his principle of life, the essence of his righteous character, remains permanently in them, who is born again, who is reborn from above, spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for his purpose.

41:23.080 --> 41:33.080
And he who is born again cannot habitually live a life characterized by sin because he is born of God and longs to please him.

41:33.080 --> 41:46.080
So obviously that's ridiculous, but the modern versions say a shorter variation of what I just read to you, and that's where, you know, if you believe in perseverance of the saints and you're reading these modern versions, this fits like a glove.

41:46.080 --> 41:55.080
It's saying exactly what your doctrine is, which is if you're born of God, you're not going to make a practice of sin, which I don't, what does that even mean?

41:55.080 --> 42:00.080
If you're sinning, technically you're making a practice of it if you're doing it.

42:00.080 --> 42:05.080
Turn to Ephesians chapter 2, another verse the Calvinists will use.

42:05.080 --> 42:07.080
Now all these are easy to debunk.

42:07.080 --> 42:14.080
There's some where it's a little tricky and you have to dive in a little deeper, but these ones are a little easier.

42:14.080 --> 42:16.080
Turn to Ephesians chapter 2.

42:16.080 --> 42:24.080
So if you read Ephesians 2, 8 through 9 to them, this is what somebody that believes in work salvation will quote to you next.

42:24.080 --> 42:30.080
Ephesians chapter 2 verse 10 says, For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus under good works.

42:30.080 --> 42:33.080
See? See? No, works and faith go right together.

42:33.080 --> 42:35.080
You have to have the work, see?

42:35.080 --> 42:40.080
Which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

42:40.080 --> 42:53.080
That simply what that verse is teaching is that God not only saved us to go to heaven, but he saved us that we should, should walk in them.

42:53.080 --> 42:59.080
Not that he's going to force us to walk in good works, but that he wants us to walk in good works.

42:59.080 --> 43:02.080
And the modern versions remove the word should.

43:02.080 --> 43:07.080
So it reads like this in the modern versions, which God hath before ordained that we walk in them.

43:07.080 --> 43:11.080
So, you know, God has these works and he's going to force you to do them.

43:11.080 --> 43:15.080
And if you don't do them, it proves that, you know, you're not even the elect.

43:15.080 --> 43:16.080
You're going to go to hell.

43:16.080 --> 43:24.080
In the legacy standard version that was made by Johnny Mack, who died, he died recently.

43:24.080 --> 43:35.080
His version says, for we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

43:35.080 --> 43:38.080
So not only did he take the word should out, he said we would.

43:38.080 --> 43:40.080
It's going to happen.

43:40.080 --> 43:51.080
And one thing I forgot to say was perseverance of the saints, what comes from perseverance of the saints is the doctrine that Johnny Mack or John MacArthur created, which was Lordship salvation.

43:51.080 --> 43:53.080
It's pretty much the same thing.

43:53.080 --> 43:59.080
Also, I forgot to mention that perseverance of the saints and once saved, always saved are two different things.

43:59.080 --> 44:02.080
Once saved, always saved is once you're saved, you're saved forever.

44:02.080 --> 44:03.080
Nothing can change that.

44:03.080 --> 44:09.080
Perseverance of the saints is God puts his seed in you so that you will do good works.

44:09.080 --> 44:14.080
And that proves that you're saved forever and you can't lose your salvation because you're in those works.

44:14.080 --> 44:18.080
Now, if you're not in those works, that proves that you were never saved at all.

44:18.080 --> 44:24.080
Turn to First John chapter two, another verse they use, which is super easy.

44:24.080 --> 44:28.080
I'm about to get to the hard verses they use, but this is super easy to the bunt.

44:28.080 --> 44:35.080
First John chapter two, First John chapter two, verse 19.

44:35.080 --> 44:40.080
The Bible says, They went out from us, but they were not of us.

44:40.080 --> 44:45.080
For if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us.

44:45.080 --> 44:50.080
But they went out that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

44:50.080 --> 44:57.080
So see right there, if you stop coming to church with us, that just proves you were a devil from the beginning, is what that verse is teaching right there.

44:57.080 --> 45:03.080
According to Calvinist, if you stop continuing in those works, you are not saved.

45:03.080 --> 45:05.080
You are not one of the elect.

45:06.080 --> 45:12.080
But if you just look at the verse above, in verse 18, it says, Little children, it is the last time.

45:12.080 --> 45:22.080
And as we have heard that Antichrist shall come, even now are there many Antichrists, whereby we know that it is the last time.

45:22.080 --> 45:30.080
The context of this verse is it's talking about Antichrist coming in, false brothering coming in to spread false doctrine.

45:31.080 --> 45:38.080
Like the false doctrine that Antichrist would say, that Jesus Christ didn't really come to flesh, or that Jesus is not my Messiah.

45:38.080 --> 45:40.080
I don't know who would say something like that.

45:40.080 --> 45:46.080
But yeah, if you are saying things like that, that means that you didn't continue with us.

45:46.080 --> 45:47.080
That means you are not saved.

45:47.080 --> 45:55.080
It's not saying that if you smoked a cigarette outside, that you are just not saved at all until you crush the cigarette on the ground.

45:55.080 --> 45:59.080
Now I'm going to go to, those verses are pretty easy to bunk.

45:59.080 --> 46:05.080
Now I'm going to go to the harder verses to where you would probably scratch your head and be like, let me look into this deeper.

46:05.080 --> 46:10.080
Turn to Philippians chapter 1 with the verses they love to use.

46:12.080 --> 46:15.080
And the verses the old IV loved to use to defend his doctrine.

46:17.080 --> 46:19.080
Philippians chapter 1, very famous verse.

46:19.080 --> 46:30.080
It says, being confident of this very thing that he which have begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

46:30.080 --> 46:37.080
So right there, according to them, that's saying that once you get saved, God is going to perform good works in you.

46:37.080 --> 46:42.080
You see how they are twisting it, God is going to perform the good works in you so that you never fall away.

46:42.080 --> 46:46.080
And if you do fall away, that he is going to force you to repent.

46:46.080 --> 46:54.080
Because basically like I read earlier, they are not saying that you won't ever commit a sin or that you won't fall into a grievous sin or a special sin.

46:54.080 --> 47:04.080
And what it said in the West Missing Confession, it's saying that if you do commit special sins, God will force you to repent as soon as you do it and get you back on the right track.

47:04.080 --> 47:08.080
But we know that's not true. It's your choice to repent.

47:08.080 --> 47:10.080
It's your own free will choice.

47:10.080 --> 47:15.080
And God is not making us into robots as soon as we get saved and making us do all the works.

47:15.080 --> 47:19.080
What this verse is talking about is sanctification.

47:19.080 --> 47:24.080
If you look at the letter, it says, until the day of Jesus Christ.

47:24.080 --> 47:28.080
So there's three types of sanctification that all go together.

47:28.080 --> 47:32.080
The first one is positional sanctification, is where you first get saved.

47:32.080 --> 47:36.080
God separates you. Your spirit is totally sinless. You're set apart.

47:36.080 --> 47:41.080
Now the second sanctification would be progressive sanctification.

47:41.080 --> 47:44.080
Now that's where you have to put your part in.

47:44.080 --> 47:49.080
James 4.8, it says, draw an eye unto God and he will draw an eye unto you.

47:49.080 --> 47:53.080
Cleanse your hands, ye sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double-minded.

47:53.080 --> 47:58.080
So that's progressive sanctification where you have to do the work and you have to put in the work.

47:58.080 --> 48:03.080
And it's your decision. It's not God forcing you to do the work.

48:03.080 --> 48:08.080
And then the final sanctification would be glorification, where you're totally separated.

48:08.080 --> 48:14.080
You can't sin anymore. Not only is your spirit not sinning, but your flesh isn't sinning because God renewed it.

48:14.080 --> 48:24.080
Turn to 1 John chapter 3. I'm going to read 2 Corinthians 3.18.

48:24.080 --> 48:37.080
It says, but we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

48:37.080 --> 48:44.080
And it says glory to glory. It's talking about the glory of getting saved all the way to the glory of your glorified body.

48:44.080 --> 48:49.080
But on between that is progressive sanctification which is a choice you have to make.

48:49.080 --> 48:54.080
And the person that is helping you is the Spirit of the Lord that dwells within you.

48:54.080 --> 48:58.080
But he is not going to force you, the Holy Spirit is not going to force you to do the works.

48:58.080 --> 49:01.080
He's going to help you. He's going to lead you into that.

49:01.080 --> 49:06.080
But you could go against that because God gives us a choice.

49:06.080 --> 49:10.080
You should be in 1 John chapter 3 verse 2.

49:10.080 --> 49:19.080
1 John chapter 3 verse 2 the Bible says, Beloved, now are we the sons of God and it does not appear what we shall be.

49:19.080 --> 49:23.080
But we know that when he shall appear, we shall be like him.

49:23.080 --> 49:27.080
Talking about glorification for we shall see him as he is.

49:27.080 --> 49:34.080
Verse 3, and every man that hath this hope in him purify himself even as he is pure.

49:34.080 --> 49:39.080
So as we're waiting for the redemption of our bodies or the adoption of our bodies,

49:39.080 --> 49:44.080
we're purifying ourselves because we have that hope that that's going to happen.

49:44.080 --> 49:49.080
But it's our, like I said, it's our decision. It's not God forcing you to do that.

49:49.080 --> 49:52.080
So hopefully that wasn't really that hard.

49:52.080 --> 49:55.080
Next, I'm going to throw a curve ball at you.

49:55.080 --> 50:00.080
Philippians chapter 2. Philippians chapter 2, turn there.

50:00.080 --> 50:04.080
Philippians chapter 2 verse 12.

50:04.080 --> 50:07.080
Work salvation is, isn't it crazy that work salvation is and Calvinists,

50:07.080 --> 50:11.080
they just love to use the same verses to prove their doctrine.

50:11.080 --> 50:18.080
Philippians chapter 2 verse 12 says, Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed,

50:18.080 --> 50:25.080
not in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

50:25.080 --> 50:28.080
So right there you've got to work out your own salvation.

50:28.080 --> 50:36.080
So it's not faith alone. Verse 13, for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do his good pleasure.

50:36.080 --> 50:42.080
Every time a Calvinist says the word will, sees the word will in the Bible, they just jump for joy.

50:42.080 --> 50:45.080
Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. They love to see that word.

50:45.080 --> 50:48.080
Unless it's an Old Testament and says something about a free will offering.

50:48.080 --> 50:51.080
That's the time where they stay away from that.

50:51.080 --> 50:56.080
But they get really happy and excited when it says to will right here.

50:56.080 --> 51:00.080
They're saying, see, God wills you to do the good work.

51:00.080 --> 51:05.080
So first of all, if that was true and God is forcing you to do the good works,

51:05.080 --> 51:09.080
why in verse 12 does it say work out your own salvation?

51:09.080 --> 51:14.080
What sense would it make for God to tell us to do something if he's forcing us to do it?

51:14.080 --> 51:19.080
What this verse is saying is that God wants us to work out our own salvation.

51:19.080 --> 51:25.080
And while we're doing that, the Holy Spirit, where it says God was working in you,

51:25.080 --> 51:32.080
that's the Holy Spirit working in you, is helping you both to do his will and to do his good pleasure.

51:32.080 --> 51:35.080
So the Holy Spirit is leading you towards that,

51:35.080 --> 51:42.080
but he's not grabbing you by the shirt and tugging you out of there like your lot.

51:42.080 --> 51:46.080
And the angel is the Holy Spirit and he's taking you out of Solomon and Gomorrah by force.

51:46.080 --> 51:48.080
It's a choice that you have to make.

51:48.080 --> 51:53.080
And I can prove that right here because in Ephesians 4.30 it says,

51:53.080 --> 51:55.080
And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God.

51:55.080 --> 52:01.080
So if God's saying not to grieve the Holy Spirit, doesn't that mean that we can grieve the Holy Spirit?

52:01.080 --> 52:05.080
In 1 Thessalonians 5, verse 19, the Bible says,

52:05.080 --> 52:08.080
Quench not the Spirit.

52:08.080 --> 52:11.080
If we can't do this, why is it in the Bible?

52:11.080 --> 52:13.080
Why is God telling us something that we can't do?

52:13.080 --> 52:18.080
Because according to them, the Holy Spirit is just forcing you to do all these things,

52:18.080 --> 52:19.080
so we can't quench it.

52:19.080 --> 52:22.080
We don't even have the power because we don't have any free will.

52:22.080 --> 52:26.080
So both of the verses I just read disprove what they're saying,

52:26.080 --> 52:31.080
which is the Holy Spirit is going to force you to will and to do his good pleasure

52:31.080 --> 52:35.080
because of the fact that a believer has the decision to grieve the Holy Spirit

52:35.080 --> 52:38.080
and the Bible tells us not to quench not the Holy Spirit.

52:38.080 --> 52:43.080
And quench pretty much means to suppress, to extinguish, or to put out.

52:43.080 --> 52:47.080
So don't put out the Spirit and let him do his work.

52:47.080 --> 52:51.080
Turn to 2 Peter chapter 1.

52:51.080 --> 52:54.080
2 Peter chapter 1. Now this one's a doozy.

52:54.080 --> 52:57.080
2 Peter chapter 1.

52:57.080 --> 53:04.080
2 Peter chapter 1, verse 10, the Bible says,

53:04.080 --> 53:10.080
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure,

53:10.080 --> 53:14.080
for if ye do these things ye shall never fall.

53:14.080 --> 53:18.080
So the word sure means to be certain, to be infallible.

53:18.080 --> 53:21.080
So what the Calvinists believe is that if you're not persevering in works,

53:21.080 --> 53:26.080
that just proves that God didn't choose you to be saved before the world began.

53:26.080 --> 53:31.080
So to make your calling and your election sure, you have to keep doing the works.

53:31.080 --> 53:34.080
And that proves to me that you're one of the elect.

53:34.080 --> 53:37.080
But of course, that's not what the Bible's saying.

53:37.080 --> 53:42.080
But if you just read that verse, I could kind of see where they're coming from

53:42.080 --> 53:45.080
because then it says, for if you do these things you shall not fall.

53:46.080 --> 53:51.080
And they believe that if you fall from the state of grace, which is living in sin,

53:51.080 --> 53:54.080
that proves that God didn't choose you.

53:54.080 --> 53:58.080
Turn to verse 3 in 2 Peter chapter 1.

53:58.080 --> 54:00.080
Let's get the whole context.

54:00.080 --> 54:05.080
It says, According as his divine power have given unto us all

54:05.080 --> 54:08.080
things that pertain unto life and godliness

54:08.080 --> 54:13.080
through the knowledge of him that have called us to glory and virtue.

54:14.080 --> 54:17.080
So remember that word calling in verse 10.

54:17.080 --> 54:21.080
Right here it says, him that have called us into glory.

54:21.080 --> 54:24.080
So that's what that calling is talking about.

54:24.080 --> 54:27.080
I'm going to go shortly into what the election is talking about later.

54:27.080 --> 54:34.080
Verse 4 says, whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises

54:34.080 --> 54:38.080
that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,

54:38.080 --> 54:42.080
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

54:42.080 --> 54:47.080
And besides this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue,

54:47.080 --> 54:49.080
and to your virtue knowledge.

54:49.080 --> 54:55.080
And then in 2 Peter it goes on and on that you need to add to your faith,

54:55.080 --> 54:58.080
which is once you're saved don't just stay saved.

54:58.080 --> 55:03.080
Add to your faith with virtue, knowledge, peace, and all that.

55:03.080 --> 55:08.080
In verse 9 it says, but he that lacketh these things is blind

55:08.080 --> 55:13.080
and cannot see afar off and have forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

55:13.080 --> 55:18.080
What this verse means is that if you're not adding diligence

55:18.080 --> 55:23.080
and adding virtue to your faith that you're going to forget where you are.

55:23.080 --> 55:30.080
When it says looking afar off, that's talking about looking at the eternal rewards in heaven.

55:30.080 --> 55:35.080
So you're blind in that region, you're not doing the works on earth

55:35.080 --> 55:37.080
so you could get the rewards in heaven.

55:37.080 --> 55:43.080
But then you're also blind because it says and have forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

55:43.080 --> 55:45.080
That's not saying they forgot they were saved,

55:45.080 --> 55:54.080
but it's saying that they forgot that God saved them out of a life of sin to continue in good work.

55:54.080 --> 55:59.080
So they're not looking to far off and they're forgetting the past of the glorious thing God did to them

55:59.080 --> 56:01.080
to pull them out of a rotten life.

56:01.080 --> 56:05.080
Even David in Psalm 51 verse 12 said,

56:05.080 --> 56:08.080
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation.

56:08.080 --> 56:10.080
He's not saying restore unto me my salvation,

56:10.080 --> 56:14.080
but restore the joy that I once had when I got saved.

56:14.080 --> 56:21.080
And now let's look at 2 Peter chapter 10 again with all that in mind.

56:21.080 --> 56:26.080
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure,

56:26.080 --> 56:30.080
for if you do these things you shall never fall.

56:30.080 --> 56:34.080
Now we already got what the calling was, but when it says election,

56:34.080 --> 56:40.080
election is God choosing you before the world began, but it's not a random choice.

56:40.080 --> 56:46.080
God chose us before the world began because he knew that we would have the faith to get saved.

56:46.080 --> 56:53.080
So he's not choosing us to get salvation, he's choosing us because he knew with his foreknowledge.

56:53.080 --> 56:59.080
That's why in 2 Peter it says elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father.

56:59.080 --> 57:07.080
So that's what election is, but not only that, God expects his elect to do good works.

57:07.080 --> 57:20.080
Turn to Ephesians chapter 1, Ephesians chapter 1, Ephesians chapter 1 verse 4.

57:20.080 --> 57:26.080
The Bible says, According as he hath chosen us, election and chosen means the same thing.

57:26.080 --> 57:30.080
The dumb thing about Calvinists is they love that word election, which means to choose,

57:30.080 --> 57:33.080
but when you have an election just like we have this presidential election,

57:33.080 --> 57:39.080
you don't just vote for somebody based on nothing and nobody knows why you voted for them.

57:39.080 --> 57:42.080
You voted for them for some reason. So God had to choose us for some reason,

57:42.080 --> 57:46.080
but when you ask them, okay, why did God elect you, they'll say it's a mystery.

57:46.080 --> 57:51.080
We'll never know. But we know why God elected us.

57:51.080 --> 57:56.080
He elected us because he knew in the future that we would put our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ

57:56.080 --> 58:03.080
and get saved because God is outside of time and he knows from the beginning to the end.

58:03.080 --> 58:10.080
Ephesians chapter 1 verse 4 says, According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world,

58:10.080 --> 58:15.080
that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.

58:15.080 --> 58:19.080
Now look at the word should. In the other versions they don't say should.

58:19.080 --> 58:23.080
Isn't that kind of weird and messed up that they take out that word should?

58:23.080 --> 58:28.080
Because the word should is saying that he wants us to do that, not that he's forcing us to do it,

58:28.080 --> 58:32.080
that we should be holy and without blame before him.

58:32.080 --> 58:38.080
Ephesians 2, 10 says, we already read this, For we are his workmanship,

58:38.080 --> 58:43.080
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained.

58:43.080 --> 58:47.080
So God always wanted us to do these good works.

58:47.080 --> 58:50.080
So he before ordained it before the world once was.

58:50.080 --> 58:53.080
But then it says that we should walk in them.

58:53.080 --> 58:57.080
He's not forcing us to get saved, not forcing us to do work.

58:57.080 --> 59:00.080
So hopefully that was pretty easy to divulge.

59:00.080 --> 59:05.080
Anytime they come at you, all you got to do is just read the Bible, read the context,

59:05.080 --> 59:08.080
because they're stripping something out of the context.

59:08.080 --> 59:14.080
The thing about us, we look at clear verses where there's free will in the Bible,

59:14.080 --> 59:18.080
God is dying for everybody in the Bible, he died for the whole world.

59:18.080 --> 59:23.080
They're looking at peculiar verses that they can kind of rip out of context

59:23.080 --> 59:26.080
and be a little false prophet about it.

59:26.080 --> 59:33.080
Now the last thing I'm going to go to, the verses they love to use, is James chapter 2.

59:33.080 --> 59:37.080
Boy, they love to use James chapter 2.

59:37.080 --> 59:43.080
And what I started to see is not only does the old IFB have a bad interpretation of James chapter 2,

59:43.080 --> 59:48.080
but I started to see some people in the new IFB have bad interpretations of James chapter 2,

59:48.080 --> 59:53.080
basically saying, well, they're living in sin, I mean, faithful out works is dead, maybe they're not saved.

59:53.080 --> 59:55.080
And I'm like, what?

59:55.080 --> 59:59.080
You know, you would think that nobody in the new IFB would say something like that,

59:59.080 --> 01:00:03.080
but when you're not reading the Bible, you could just start saying a bunch of crazy stuff

01:00:03.080 --> 01:00:05.080
if you stopped reading your Bible.

01:00:05.080 --> 01:00:09.080
Turn to James, excuse me, turn to James chapter 1 real quick,

01:00:09.080 --> 01:00:12.080
and let's figure out who James is talking to.

01:00:12.080 --> 01:00:15.080
James chapter 1, verse 2, the Bible says,

01:00:15.080 --> 01:00:20.080
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers' temptations.

01:00:20.080 --> 01:00:25.080
Now a brother means that they're saved, they're brothers in Christ.

01:00:25.080 --> 01:00:29.080
So that means that the book of James is being written to save people,

01:00:29.080 --> 01:00:33.080
not just random people in the world.

01:00:33.080 --> 01:00:37.080
Look at verse 25 in a read about the law of liberty.

01:00:37.080 --> 01:00:43.080
It says, But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein,

01:00:43.080 --> 01:00:47.080
he shall not be a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work.

01:00:47.080 --> 01:00:49.080
This man shall be blessed in his deed.

01:00:49.080 --> 01:00:54.080
The law of liberty is pretty much, just to summarize it, it's the New Testament law.

01:00:54.080 --> 01:00:56.080
That's what the law of liberty is.

01:00:56.080 --> 01:01:00.080
Now in the Old Testament, the Galatians describes that as being under bondage,

01:01:00.080 --> 01:01:06.080
doing all those animal sacrifices, the Sabbath days, the ceremonial washings,

01:01:06.080 --> 01:01:08.080
all that, that was bondage.

01:01:08.080 --> 01:01:12.080
Now in the New Testament, we have liberty not to do those things.

01:01:12.080 --> 01:01:16.080
Now we can eat pork, now we can eat shrimp, we have liberty in Christ.

01:01:16.080 --> 01:01:21.080
But it doesn't mean, liberty doesn't mean we can do whatever we want,

01:01:21.080 --> 01:01:23.080
and God's just going to be cool with that.

01:01:23.080 --> 01:01:26.080
Because I heard some people say, Hey bro, we're under grace,

01:01:26.080 --> 01:01:29.080
so now I could sleep with my girlfriend and she could live at my house.

01:01:29.080 --> 01:01:32.080
That's not what that means when it says under grace.

01:01:32.080 --> 01:01:36.080
Under grace is just meaning that we're in the New Testament,

01:01:36.080 --> 01:01:39.080
the law of liberty is just the New Testament law.

01:01:39.080 --> 01:01:45.080
Look at James chapter 2, it drops another My Brethren.

01:01:45.080 --> 01:01:50.080
James chapter 2 verse 1 says,

01:01:50.080 --> 01:01:56.080
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory,

01:01:56.080 --> 01:01:58.080
with respect of persons.

01:01:58.080 --> 01:02:01.080
So according to James, they have faith.

01:02:01.080 --> 01:02:04.080
They have the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ,

01:02:04.080 --> 01:02:08.080
and he's commanding them not to have that faith with respect of persons.

01:02:08.080 --> 01:02:11.080
Meaning that he's calling them brethren, and they have faith,

01:02:11.080 --> 01:02:13.080
that means they're saved, he's writing to save people.

01:02:13.080 --> 01:02:20.080
And this is the verse that a lot of works based salvation people miss.

01:02:20.080 --> 01:02:22.080
Look at James chapter 2 verse 10,

01:02:22.080 --> 01:02:27.080
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point,

01:02:27.080 --> 01:02:29.080
he is guilty of all.

01:02:29.080 --> 01:02:31.080
He is guilty of the whole law if you offend in one point.

01:02:31.080 --> 01:02:35.080
So when people go to James 2, I think they forget that that's in there.

01:02:35.080 --> 01:02:37.080
Look at verse 11, it says,

01:02:37.080 --> 01:02:42.080
For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill.

01:02:42.080 --> 01:02:49.080
Now thou commit no adultery, yet thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

01:02:49.080 --> 01:02:52.080
That's what's so silly about works salvation, that's what I'm trying to tell you.

01:02:52.080 --> 01:02:55.080
They'll say, oh well, yeah, if you're living in sin,

01:02:55.080 --> 01:02:59.080
that proves that you're not saved or you lost your salvation.

01:02:59.080 --> 01:03:03.080
When they say living in sin, they're saying the sins that they don't commit, basically.

01:03:03.080 --> 01:03:06.080
So if you're living in the sins that I'm not doing at the time,

01:03:06.080 --> 01:03:08.080
that means you're not saved.

01:03:08.080 --> 01:03:11.080
Because these people who admit that they're not sinless, they still sin,

01:03:11.080 --> 01:03:13.080
but they just, you know, they repent right after they do it.

01:03:13.080 --> 01:03:16.080
You know, they're driving in the car, they think a nasty thought,

01:03:16.080 --> 01:03:20.080
while they're driving they just repent real quick and keep driving.

01:03:20.080 --> 01:03:23.080
Look at verse 12, it says,

01:03:23.080 --> 01:03:28.080
So speak ye and so do as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty,

01:03:28.080 --> 01:03:33.080
for he shall have judgment without mercy that have showed no mercy,

01:03:33.080 --> 01:03:36.080
and mercy rejoices against judgment.

01:03:36.080 --> 01:03:41.080
So right there it's talking about somebody being judged in the law of liberty.

01:03:41.080 --> 01:03:45.080
And if a person is an unmerciful person, God's not going to have mercy on you.

01:03:45.080 --> 01:03:49.080
If you're an unforgivable person, God's not going to forgive you when you mess up,

01:03:49.080 --> 01:03:51.080
and he's going to drop the hammer on you.

01:03:51.080 --> 01:03:54.080
Now look at verse 14, this is really important.

01:03:54.080 --> 01:03:59.080
What doth it profit my brethren, though a man say he hath faith and hath not works?

01:03:59.080 --> 01:04:03.080
Can faith save him? Can faith save him from what?

01:04:03.080 --> 01:04:07.080
Can faith save him from the law of liberty, from being judged by God?

01:04:07.080 --> 01:04:09.080
So when you get saved, just because you're saved,

01:04:09.080 --> 01:04:15.080
that doesn't mean that you're saved from God punishing you on this earth for your sins.

01:04:15.080 --> 01:04:18.080
But in all of the modern versions, you know what it says?

01:04:18.080 --> 01:04:21.080
It says, can that faith save him?

01:04:21.080 --> 01:04:26.080
So what they'll do, they'll twist and be like, oh, well, if you have a faith without works,

01:04:26.080 --> 01:04:28.080
that faith can't save you.

01:04:28.080 --> 01:04:31.080
But in the King James, it says, can faith save him?

01:04:31.080 --> 01:04:34.080
Talking about the law of liberty.

01:04:34.080 --> 01:04:37.080
And I'm not going to go through the whole James chapter.

01:04:37.080 --> 01:04:42.080
I don't have that much time, but pretty much we can see that it's not teaching work salvation.

01:04:42.080 --> 01:04:45.080
Work salvation is not teaching that God's going to force you to do all the works.

01:04:45.080 --> 01:04:50.080
Even right here, James 2.6, it says, for as the body without the spirit is dead,

01:04:50.080 --> 01:04:53.080
so faith without works is dead also.

01:04:53.080 --> 01:04:56.080
So if you're saying that if you don't have works, you don't have faith,

01:04:56.080 --> 01:05:00.080
you would have to say that if you don't have a spirit, you don't have a body either.

01:05:00.080 --> 01:05:03.080
So that's the analogy that James make.

01:05:03.080 --> 01:05:07.080
It's pretty much just saying that if you have faith and you don't have works,

01:05:07.080 --> 01:05:11.080
you're not helping anybody, you're basically a do-nothing Christian,

01:05:11.080 --> 01:05:13.080
and you need to add some works and help people.

01:05:13.080 --> 01:05:18.080
Just like if my body doesn't have a spirit, I'm just going to be dead and I can't help anybody.

01:05:18.080 --> 01:05:21.080
That's all James is saying, but people love to twist that.

01:05:21.080 --> 01:05:25.080
So we got all that out of the way.

01:05:25.080 --> 01:05:28.080
Point number three, now I'm going to talk about why they're wrong.

01:05:28.080 --> 01:05:34.080
We have three examples and much more, but I think these are three clearest examples

01:05:34.080 --> 01:05:38.080
of people not persevering to the end and works,

01:05:38.080 --> 01:05:43.080
and actually dying in a state away from grace and special sin.

01:05:43.080 --> 01:05:50.080
Turn to Judges chapter 14, and coincidentally all their names start with S.

01:05:50.080 --> 01:05:55.080
Turn to Judges chapter 14.

01:05:55.080 --> 01:06:00.080
We just read about this on a Wednesday night Bible study,

01:06:00.080 --> 01:06:02.080
Samson, how he messed his life up.

01:06:02.080 --> 01:06:05.080
He was a great man of God before he messed his life up,

01:06:06.080 --> 01:06:13.080
but that just proves that we could fall if we're not walking in the light.

01:06:13.080 --> 01:06:18.080
Judges chapter 14 verse 6, the Bible says,

01:06:18.080 --> 01:06:21.080
And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him,

01:06:21.080 --> 01:06:26.080
talking about Samson, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid,

01:06:26.080 --> 01:06:32.080
and he had nothing in his hand, but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.

01:06:33.080 --> 01:06:40.080
So Samson was a Nazarite, and one thing he did was he broke the Nazarite vow

01:06:40.080 --> 01:06:46.080
by eating honey out of a lion, and then what he did was he just gave it to his family

01:06:46.080 --> 01:06:48.080
without telling them what he did.

01:06:48.080 --> 01:06:52.080
You imagine somebody got your food from a really nasty place without telling you,

01:06:52.080 --> 01:06:55.080
like they went to a gas station and got some sushi,

01:06:55.080 --> 01:06:59.080
and was like, yeah, I just got this sushi from a bar sushi down the street,

01:06:59.080 --> 01:07:02.080
and then you eat it and then you have food poisoning for two weeks.

01:07:02.080 --> 01:07:04.080
That would be really messy.

01:07:04.080 --> 01:07:06.080
Now I'm not saying that happened to them in the story,

01:07:06.080 --> 01:07:11.080
but I'm just saying we're looking right here that he's not persevering right now.

01:07:11.080 --> 01:07:13.080
He's breaking Nazarite vows. He's lying to his family.

01:07:13.080 --> 01:07:15.080
Now let's see in verse 7.

01:07:15.080 --> 01:07:20.080
It says, And he went down and talked with the woman, and she pleased Samson well.

01:07:20.080 --> 01:07:25.080
And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion,

01:07:25.080 --> 01:07:29.080
and behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcass of the lion.

01:07:29.080 --> 01:07:33.080
And he took thereof in his hand and went on eating,

01:07:33.080 --> 01:07:36.080
and came to his father and mother and gave them, and they did eat.

01:07:36.080 --> 01:07:40.080
And he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcass of the lion.

01:07:40.080 --> 01:07:45.080
Now turn to Judges chapter 16.

01:07:45.080 --> 01:07:49.080
Now he's going to get into some sexual sin.

01:07:49.080 --> 01:07:52.080
Judges chapter 14.

01:07:52.080 --> 01:07:54.080
Judges chapter 16.

01:07:54.080 --> 01:08:00.080
The Bible says, Then went Samson to Gaza and saw there a harlot and went in unto her.

01:08:00.080 --> 01:08:03.080
So he's still not persevering to that end. He's lying to people.

01:08:03.080 --> 01:08:06.080
He's breaking his vows. Now he's going into harlots.

01:08:06.080 --> 01:08:14.080
Look at verse 4. It says, And it came to pass afterward that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek whose name was Delilah.

01:08:14.080 --> 01:08:18.080
So this is pretty much just the beginning of the end for Samson.

01:08:18.080 --> 01:08:20.080
It was pretty much over when he met this woman.

01:08:20.080 --> 01:08:23.080
This is where he gets steeped into a lot of bad things.

01:08:23.080 --> 01:08:33.080
Basically, Delilah is just a horrible person, and she keeps manipulating Samson into telling him his secret for his strength

01:08:33.080 --> 01:08:37.080
so that the Philistines could fall on Samson and get him.

01:08:37.080 --> 01:08:41.080
And what Samson does, which is a sin, he keeps lying to her.

01:08:41.080 --> 01:08:45.080
Instead of saying, Hey, get out of my face, you evil, disgusting woman.

01:08:45.080 --> 01:08:49.080
Leave me alone. He keeps lying to her and saying, Well, if you wrap these cords around me, I'm going to lose my strength.

01:08:49.080 --> 01:08:54.080
And then she tries it, and then he lies, basically.

01:08:54.080 --> 01:08:57.080
And last time I checked, lying is a sin. So let's go through it again.

01:08:57.080 --> 01:09:03.080
Breaking vows, going into harlots, being with dangerous women, lying.

01:09:03.080 --> 01:09:07.080
There's a lot of evil stuff that he's doing.

01:09:07.080 --> 01:09:12.080
Now look at Judges 16. Judges 16 verse 16.

01:09:12.080 --> 01:09:21.080
It says, And it came to pass when she pressed him daily with her words and urged him so that his soul was vexed unto death,

01:09:21.080 --> 01:09:24.080
that he told her all his heart.

01:09:24.080 --> 01:09:28.080
So the Bible says the thought of foolishness is sin.

01:09:28.080 --> 01:09:34.080
Obviously, I think the reader already knew that she was trying to set him up, and he didn't catch it.

01:09:34.080 --> 01:09:38.080
So therefore, he was being very foolish at this time.

01:09:38.080 --> 01:09:44.080
So the Philistines catch him because he told her the secret, and she got his locks off.

01:09:44.080 --> 01:09:48.080
And the Philistines actually cut out his eyes.

01:09:48.080 --> 01:09:54.080
And this is pretty much the end of Samson in verse 30, where he's going to commit suicide.

01:09:54.080 --> 01:09:59.080
Verse number 30 says, And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines.

01:09:59.080 --> 01:10:06.080
And he bowed himself with all his might, and the house fell upon the lords and upon all the people that were therein.

01:10:06.080 --> 01:10:12.080
So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.

01:10:12.080 --> 01:10:16.080
So he committed suicide while killing everybody in the building.

01:10:16.080 --> 01:10:19.080
One funny thing that I want you all to look up after the service,

01:10:19.080 --> 01:10:24.080
Israel has something called a Samson option, which means that if they feel threatened,

01:10:24.080 --> 01:10:28.080
that you're going to do something to the Jewish people, they're going to bomb everything.

01:10:28.080 --> 01:10:33.080
Just like Samson destroyed all the Philistines, they're getting rid of everybody and themselves.

01:10:33.080 --> 01:10:38.080
So yeah, that's pretty dangerous. I'm not lying about that. Please go look that up.

01:10:38.080 --> 01:10:43.080
So we see that Samson, he didn't persevere to the end.

01:10:43.080 --> 01:10:47.080
And all I actually need is one example, but there's two other examples.

01:10:47.080 --> 01:10:52.080
King Solomon, whose name also starts with S, turned to 1 Kings chapter 11.

01:10:52.080 --> 01:10:57.080
According to them, if their doctrine was right, God would have made Samson repent.

01:10:57.080 --> 01:11:00.080
He would have made him get brought back to his feet.

01:11:00.080 --> 01:11:05.080
He would have stopped him from commending his grievous sin, and he wouldn't have died in that sin

01:11:05.080 --> 01:11:09.080
because he died in the punishment. His eyes were cut out. It was pretty much a wrap for him.

01:11:09.080 --> 01:11:12.080
Now we're going to look at the sins of King Solomon.

01:11:12.080 --> 01:11:16.080
And you know, they're pretty much, they're probably in heaven just annoyed that, you know,

01:11:16.080 --> 01:11:20.080
people just keep reading these stories and just keep badgering at their sins.

01:11:20.080 --> 01:11:24.080
But unfortunately, I had to do this because we have false prophets today

01:11:24.080 --> 01:11:30.080
that will use out of context verses to prove things that aren't true.

01:11:30.080 --> 01:11:34.080
Look at 1 Kings chapter 11 to verse 10. It says,

01:11:54.080 --> 01:12:10.080
Solomon clave unto these in love, and he had 700 wives, princesses, and 300 concubines.

01:12:10.080 --> 01:12:14.080
And his wives turned away his heart, for it came to pass when Solomon was old

01:12:14.080 --> 01:12:20.080
that his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not perfect

01:12:20.080 --> 01:12:23.080
with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.

01:12:23.080 --> 01:12:27.080
For Solomon went after Ashtaroth, the goddess of the Zidonians,

01:12:27.080 --> 01:12:30.080
and after Milchum, the abomination of the Ammonites.

01:12:30.080 --> 01:12:37.080
And Solomon did evil on the side of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as did David his father.

01:12:37.080 --> 01:12:42.080
Then did Solomon build a high place for Chimosh, the abomination of Moab,

01:12:42.080 --> 01:12:48.080
and the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

01:12:48.080 --> 01:12:56.080
And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incest and sacrifice unto their gods.

01:12:56.080 --> 01:13:01.080
And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel,

01:13:01.080 --> 01:13:07.080
which had appeared unto him twice, and had commanded him concerning this thing,

01:13:07.080 --> 01:13:13.080
that he should not go after other gods, but he kept not that which the Lord commanded.

01:13:13.080 --> 01:13:17.080
So we see in this short story of Solomon before his death,

01:13:17.080 --> 01:13:21.080
he first of all commended polygamy, which is a sin, because the Bible says,

01:13:21.080 --> 01:13:25.080
for kings not to multiply wives, not only is he commending polygamy,

01:13:25.080 --> 01:13:28.080
but he's marrying the worst woman possible of different religions,

01:13:28.080 --> 01:13:32.080
and God warned him not to do that, because they turned away his heart from God,

01:13:32.080 --> 01:13:34.080
and he started committing idolatry.

01:13:34.080 --> 01:13:39.080
Now if you look at verse 43, it says,

01:13:39.080 --> 01:13:41.080
And Solomon slept with his fathers.

01:13:41.080 --> 01:13:45.080
So between what I just read and verse 43, there's no repentance.

01:13:45.080 --> 01:13:47.080
He's not repentant of his sins.

01:13:47.080 --> 01:13:49.080
God's not forcing him to come back into the state of grace.

01:13:49.080 --> 01:13:51.080
He just commits all those wicked sins.

01:13:51.080 --> 01:13:54.080
And then verse 43, he dies.

01:13:54.080 --> 01:14:00.080
So that's strike number two on the doctrine of perseverance of the saints.

01:14:00.080 --> 01:14:05.080
Now lastly is the greatest example, Saul, King Saul,

01:14:05.080 --> 01:14:09.080
which they will deny that he's saved, because they have to deny he's saved,

01:14:09.080 --> 01:14:13.080
because this story just flies in the face of everything they teach.

01:14:13.080 --> 01:14:17.080
Now I'm going to prove to you that King Saul was saved.

01:14:17.080 --> 01:14:20.080
Turn to 1 Samuel chapter 28.

01:14:20.080 --> 01:14:23.080
1 Samuel chapter 28.

01:14:27.080 --> 01:14:30.080
And I thank God that God put this story in the Bible

01:14:30.080 --> 01:14:35.080
so that one day we could use it to destroy this false doctrine.

01:14:35.080 --> 01:14:40.080
1 Samuel chapter 28, I'm going to prove that Saul was saved.

01:14:40.080 --> 01:14:45.080
Verse 3 says, Now Samuel was dead, and of course we all know Samuel.

01:14:45.080 --> 01:14:48.080
He was saved. He was a prophet.

01:14:48.080 --> 01:14:53.080
Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him and buried him in Ramah,

01:14:53.080 --> 01:14:54.080
even in his own city.

01:14:54.080 --> 01:14:56.080
Look at verse 16.

01:14:56.080 --> 01:15:03.080
It says, Then Samuel said, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me,

01:15:03.080 --> 01:15:09.080
seeing the lords departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?

01:15:09.080 --> 01:15:14.080
And the Lord have done to him as he spake by me.

01:15:14.080 --> 01:15:17.080
For the Lord have rent the kingdom out of thine hand,

01:15:17.080 --> 01:15:20.080
and given it to thy neighbor, even to David,

01:15:20.080 --> 01:15:26.080
because thou obeyest not the voice of the Lord, nor executest his fierce wrath.

01:15:26.080 --> 01:15:28.080
I'm reading the wrong thing, my bad.

01:15:28.080 --> 01:15:30.080
I'm reading the wrong thing.

01:15:30.080 --> 01:15:35.080
What I was supposed to be reading was Samuel, he basically got taken up

01:15:35.080 --> 01:15:38.080
by the witcher Andor. What they thought was the witcher Andor.

01:15:38.080 --> 01:15:46.080
Actually, it was God making Samuel come back to tell Saul that him and his sons

01:15:46.080 --> 01:15:52.080
were going to die in the battle of the Philistines, in the Philistine battles.

01:15:52.080 --> 01:15:56.080
So Samuel, who was saved, told Saul that he was going to be with me tomorrow,

01:15:56.080 --> 01:15:58.080
proving that he was saved.

01:15:58.080 --> 01:16:04.080
What I was just reading to you was one of the sins that Saul committed,

01:16:05.080 --> 01:16:11.080
which was God told him to destroy Amalek,

01:16:11.080 --> 01:16:15.080
but Saul did half obedience, which is disobedience,

01:16:15.080 --> 01:16:21.080
and he actually took the king and the cattle and all that,

01:16:21.080 --> 01:16:23.080
and he didn't listen to the Lord.

01:16:23.080 --> 01:16:27.080
So that's one example of Saul messing up in sin.

01:16:28.080 --> 01:16:32.080
Look at 1 Samuel 13, verse 12.

01:16:32.080 --> 01:16:34.080
The Bible says,

01:16:46.080 --> 01:16:47.080
And verse 13 says,

01:16:57.080 --> 01:17:02.080
So that's one thing Saul did in his early ministry.

01:17:02.080 --> 01:17:06.080
Samuel told him not to sacrifice until he comes,

01:17:06.080 --> 01:17:09.080
and then Saul got impatient and did it anyway.

01:17:09.080 --> 01:17:14.080
So the reason I'm reading this is because, one, he's not listening to God

01:17:14.080 --> 01:17:19.080
destroying the Amalekites. He's not listening to God when to do sacrifices.

01:17:19.080 --> 01:17:22.080
Now let's get into the really grievous sins that he did.

01:17:22.080 --> 01:17:28.080
1 Samuel chapter 18, he literally tries to murder a man of God,

01:17:28.080 --> 01:17:31.080
his brother in Christ, and his son.

01:17:31.080 --> 01:17:36.080
So you know somebody's walking in the flesh if they're trying to kill you.

01:17:36.080 --> 01:17:41.080
1 Samuel chapter 18, verse 11, the Bible says,

01:17:41.080 --> 01:17:42.080
The Bible says,

01:17:51.080 --> 01:17:55.080
So that's how mad he is. He wanted to get a javelin and throw it so hard

01:17:55.080 --> 01:17:58.080
that David was going to hang on the wall,

01:17:58.080 --> 01:18:00.080
and the javelin was going to go straight through his body

01:18:00.080 --> 01:18:04.080
and then somehow get into the wall to hang David on the wall.

01:18:04.080 --> 01:18:09.080
And not only that, turn to 1 Samuel chapter 20,

01:18:09.080 --> 01:18:15.080
he tried to kill his own son for calling him out for him trying to kill David.

01:18:15.080 --> 01:18:19.080
1 Samuel chapter 20, verse 32, the Bible says,

01:18:35.080 --> 01:18:38.080
So not only is he trying to kill David for no reason,

01:18:38.080 --> 01:18:41.080
but now he's trying to kill his own flesh and blood son.

01:18:41.080 --> 01:18:45.080
So you can't tell me that he's persevering in anything right now but wickedness.

01:18:45.080 --> 01:18:49.080
Now if you didn't think that was bad, he actually does commit murder later.

01:18:49.080 --> 01:18:56.080
Turn to 1 Samuel chapter 22, verse 18,

01:18:56.080 --> 01:19:02.080
he has one of God's enemies, an Edomite, working for him, which is another sin.

01:19:02.080 --> 01:19:05.080
1 Samuel chapter 22, verse 18, the Bible says,

01:19:08.080 --> 01:19:27.080
So Saul commanded his goony, Doag the Edomite, to kill 85 men of God.

01:19:27.080 --> 01:19:31.080
So he's not listening to God with slain the Amalekites,

01:19:31.080 --> 01:19:34.080
he's not listening to God on when to do sacrifices,

01:19:34.080 --> 01:19:38.080
he's trying to kill people and then he actually kills 85 people.

01:19:38.080 --> 01:19:46.080
And then later in 1 Samuel chapter 28, verse 6, he goes to the Witchander.

01:19:46.080 --> 01:19:51.080
Turn to 1 Samuel chapter 28, verse 6, it says,

01:20:04.080 --> 01:20:15.080
So Saul's all over the place, God doesn't even want to talk to him anymore

01:20:15.080 --> 01:20:20.080
because of all the wickedness he's doing, so with that, since God's not talking to him,

01:20:20.080 --> 01:20:26.080
he seeks for the Witch of Endor, a familiar spirit, which is just another word for a devil.

01:20:26.080 --> 01:20:30.080
So we see that everything I just read, he's not persevering to the end.

01:20:30.080 --> 01:20:37.080
Look at 1 Samuel chapter 31, which was the scripture reading in the beginning,

01:20:37.080 --> 01:20:42.080
1 Samuel chapter 31, he actually kills himself.

01:20:42.080 --> 01:20:46.080
So you're definitely not persevering to the end at that point.

01:20:46.080 --> 01:20:49.080
1 Samuel chapter 31, verse 3, it says,

01:20:49.080 --> 01:20:52.080
In the battle went Saul against Saul, and the archers hit him,

01:20:52.080 --> 01:20:54.080
and he was sore wounded of the archers.

01:20:54.080 --> 01:20:56.080
Then said Saul to his armor bearer,

01:20:56.080 --> 01:21:03.080
Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith, lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through and abuse me.

01:21:03.080 --> 01:21:06.080
But his armor bearer would not, for he was sore afraid.

01:21:06.080 --> 01:21:10.080
Just another point, don't have scary people around you like this.

01:21:10.080 --> 01:21:15.080
If I'm about to be tortured by other people in the war, I need you to kill me.

01:21:15.080 --> 01:21:19.080
It's not a debate at this point.

01:21:19.080 --> 01:21:22.080
So yeah, don't have punks around you that won't do their job.

01:21:22.080 --> 01:21:24.080
But that's besides the point.

01:21:24.080 --> 01:21:28.080
Then it says, therefore, Saul took a sword and fell upon it.

01:21:28.080 --> 01:21:32.080
So he had to do it himself because his armor bearer was too scared to do it.

01:21:32.080 --> 01:21:37.080
And the funny part is, after Saul killed himself, the armor bearer killed himself right with Saul.

01:21:37.080 --> 01:21:42.080
So we could see in that example, they would have to prove that Saul is not saved,

01:21:42.080 --> 01:21:44.080
and there's no proof that he's not saved.

01:21:44.080 --> 01:21:47.080
There's proof to the contrary that he is saved, and he did not persevere to the end.

01:21:47.080 --> 01:21:50.080
So they would have to say it's an exception somehow.

01:21:50.080 --> 01:21:55.080
Now, point four, point one was the heresy in question.

01:21:55.080 --> 01:21:58.080
Point two was the twisted verses they use.

01:21:58.080 --> 01:22:02.080
Point three was why they are wrong with the stories that I just brought up.

01:22:02.080 --> 01:22:05.080
And lastly, point four is why I'm right.

01:22:05.080 --> 01:22:08.080
Turn to 1 John chapter five.

01:22:08.080 --> 01:22:14.080
In one of their confessions, it said that a believer could not commit a sin unto death

01:22:14.080 --> 01:22:18.080
because God will stop them from doing that.

01:22:18.080 --> 01:22:23.080
But in 1 John chapter five, verse 16, it says the exact opposite.

01:22:23.080 --> 01:22:27.080
It says, If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death,

01:22:27.080 --> 01:22:32.080
he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death.

01:22:32.080 --> 01:22:34.080
There is a sin unto death.

01:22:34.080 --> 01:22:37.080
I do not say that he shall pray for it.

01:22:37.080 --> 01:22:42.080
Basically, what that's saying is, if your brother's not committing a sin unto death,

01:22:42.080 --> 01:22:44.080
you shall pray for him and give him life.

01:22:44.080 --> 01:22:48.080
If he is committing a sin unto death, just leave that alone.

01:22:48.080 --> 01:22:49.080
Don't pray for it.

01:22:49.080 --> 01:22:50.080
Leave that alone.

01:22:50.080 --> 01:22:54.080
So that means that a brother could commit a sin unto death.

01:22:54.080 --> 01:22:58.080
Turn to 1 Corinthians chapter three.

01:22:58.080 --> 01:23:00.080
First Corinthians chapter three.

01:23:00.080 --> 01:23:04.080
Next is I want to talk about babes in Christ.

01:23:04.080 --> 01:23:09.080
Because basically, with the whole Lordship, salvation, and perseverance of the saints thing,

01:23:09.080 --> 01:23:12.080
if that's true, there's no such thing as a babe in Christ.

01:23:12.080 --> 01:23:17.080
Because if you think of a baby, an infant, and the terrible twos, the toddler,

01:23:17.080 --> 01:23:19.080
they mess up all the time.

01:23:19.080 --> 01:23:21.080
They do a lot of just bad, rotten stuff.

01:23:21.080 --> 01:23:23.080
They're always destroying everything, screaming.

01:23:23.080 --> 01:23:30.080
So the same way, a babe in Christ is going to mess up a lot in the beginning of his Christian life.

01:23:30.080 --> 01:23:33.080
Look at 1 Corinthians chapter three, verse one.

01:23:33.080 --> 01:23:39.080
It says, And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal,

01:23:40.080 --> 01:23:43.080
even as unto babes in Christ.

01:23:43.080 --> 01:23:45.080
I have fed you with milk and not with meat.

01:23:45.080 --> 01:23:50.080
For hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

01:23:50.080 --> 01:23:56.080
For ye are yet carnal, for whereas there is among you emmying, strife, divisions,

01:23:56.080 --> 01:23:59.080
and are ye not carnal, and walk as men.

01:23:59.080 --> 01:24:03.080
So Paul's rebuking them for being babes in Christ and being carnal

01:24:03.080 --> 01:24:08.080
and striving with other believers at the church and having division.

01:24:08.080 --> 01:24:10.080
Turn to Deuteronomy chapter 21.

01:24:10.080 --> 01:24:15.080
So once we first get saved, if we're babes in Christ, and we know, you know,

01:24:15.080 --> 01:24:19.080
we could look in real life and see that babies mess up, and once you grow up,

01:24:19.080 --> 01:24:23.080
you're going to keep messing up until you reach into adulthood and you become mature,

01:24:23.080 --> 01:24:29.080
there's a story in the Old Testament where a rebellious child gets put to death.

01:24:29.080 --> 01:24:33.080
Deuteronomy chapter 21, verse 18, the Bible says,

01:24:34.080 --> 01:24:39.080
If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father

01:24:39.080 --> 01:24:44.080
or the voice of his mother, and that when they have chastened him will not hearken unto them,

01:24:44.080 --> 01:24:50.080
then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him and bring him out unto the elders of the city

01:24:50.080 --> 01:24:54.080
and unto the gate of his place. And they shall say unto the elders of his city,

01:24:54.080 --> 01:24:58.080
This our son is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey our voice.

01:24:58.080 --> 01:25:04.080
He is a glutton and a drunkard, and all the men of his city shall stone him with stones that he died.

01:25:04.080 --> 01:25:10.080
So shalt thou put evil away from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear.

01:25:10.080 --> 01:25:15.080
This is exactly what God will do to you if you grow up after being a babe in Christ

01:25:15.080 --> 01:25:20.080
and you're just living a rebellious life. You're not listening to the chastening of the Lord.

01:25:20.080 --> 01:25:26.080
God will kill you at some point. But according to them, they believe that if God kills you

01:25:26.080 --> 01:25:31.080
while you're in a state of sin, that proves you're not saved. Really, that's proof that you are saved

01:25:31.080 --> 01:25:37.080
because God's not letting you just get away with just a bunch of wickedness, and God's taking you out early.

01:25:37.080 --> 01:25:42.080
And it turns to Galatians 5. We're going to end there with Galatians 5.

01:25:42.080 --> 01:25:51.080
In Deuteronomy chapter 30 verse 19, the Bible says, I call heaven and earth to record this day against you

01:25:52.080 --> 01:26:01.080
that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live.

01:26:01.080 --> 01:26:08.080
So if God's setting two things before us and he's telling us to choose one, doesn't that mean that we're making the choice?

01:26:08.080 --> 01:26:13.080
I don't know if that's too hard to understand, but obviously if he's putting two choices in front of us

01:26:13.080 --> 01:26:18.080
and he's telling us to choose one thing, that means that he's not forcing us to choose it for him.

01:26:18.080 --> 01:26:27.080
Last verses we're going to read, Galatians chapter 5 verse 16, the Bible says,

01:26:27.080 --> 01:26:33.080
This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

01:26:33.080 --> 01:26:40.080
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh, and these are contrary,

01:26:40.080 --> 01:26:45.080
the one to the other, so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

01:26:45.080 --> 01:26:52.080
The reason why somebody that is saved is continually living in sin is only because they're choosing the flesh repeatedly.

01:26:52.080 --> 01:26:58.080
It's not because they're not the elect, it's not because they're not saved, you know, the Bible doesn't say there's going to be some change.

01:26:58.080 --> 01:27:03.080
It says that either you're going to choose the Spirit or you're going to choose the flesh.

01:27:03.080 --> 01:27:07.080
The Bible says the flesh is weak, but the Spirit is willing.

01:27:07.080 --> 01:27:15.080
Verse 25 in Galatians chapter 5 says, If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

01:27:15.080 --> 01:27:21.080
Meaning that if you have the Holy Spirit indwelled in you, let's also walk in the Spirit.

01:27:21.080 --> 01:27:26.080
Meaning that God's not going to force you to walk in the Spirit, he wants you to walk in the Spirit.

01:27:26.080 --> 01:27:35.080
So hopefully this sermon was a blessing to you because a lot of, obviously, everybody in the old IFB believes this at some point,

01:27:35.080 --> 01:27:40.080
to where they would even give you the gospel again if you did some special sin.

01:27:40.080 --> 01:27:50.080
And some people in the new IFB are now saying that, oh, if you're living in adultery, maybe it wasn't real, right?

01:27:50.080 --> 01:27:58.080
But based on everything I just read, I think it's pretty clear that it's a choice, an individual choice that we have to make, and it's not automatic.

01:27:58.080 --> 01:28:05.080
If God's not going to force you to do the right thing, we're not robots, we have to make that decision daily.

01:28:05.080 --> 01:28:09.080
We have to die to ourself daily. We have to pick up the cross and follow him daily.

01:28:09.080 --> 01:28:18.080
Now, it would be cool if God just forced us to be the best people in the world, but no, you're going to have to put in work first for that to happen.

01:28:18.080 --> 01:28:25.080
So the last song we're going to be singing is I've Decided to Follow Jesus, and that song is directly against Calvinism

01:28:25.080 --> 01:28:29.080
because they believe you can't decide to follow Jesus. He decides for you.

01:28:29.080 --> 01:28:40.080
So let's close in a word of prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, Lord, just thank you for giving us the Bible to destroy this wicked false doctrine that is plaguing a lot of saved people.

01:28:40.080 --> 01:28:50.080
Lord, just please help us to keep reading the Bible so that we don't fall into heresies of our flesh, Lord, into other false doctrines, Lord.

01:28:50.080 --> 01:28:54.080
And we love you, Lord. Please take us home safely. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

01:28:55.080 --> 01:29:03.080
Good sermon. Let's sing an anti-Calvinism song.

01:29:03.080 --> 01:29:09.080
Song number 316. I have decided to follow Jesus. Song 316.

01:29:09.080 --> 01:29:24.080
On the first, I have decided to follow Jesus.

01:29:24.080 --> 01:29:39.080
I have decided to follow Jesus.

01:29:39.080 --> 01:29:47.080
No turning back.

01:29:47.080 --> 01:30:09.080
Though not go with me, still I will follow.

01:30:09.080 --> 01:30:17.080
No turning back.

01:30:17.080 --> 01:30:25.080
The world behind me, the cross before me.

01:30:25.080 --> 01:30:33.080
The world behind me, the cross before me.

01:30:33.080 --> 01:30:41.080
The world behind me, the cross before me.

01:30:41.080 --> 01:30:48.080
No turning back.

01:30:48.080 --> 01:30:51.080
Alright, let's close the service. In a word of prayer, thank you Lord for this sermon.

01:30:51.080 --> 01:30:54.080
I pray that we will do good works and try to serve you more.

01:30:54.080 --> 01:30:58.080
But also let not Calvinism creep into our churches.

01:30:58.080 --> 01:31:01.080
Let us realize that we have the free will to choose to love you and to follow you.

01:31:01.080 --> 01:31:03.080
I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.
